Thank you, Bill. It is Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America. The Schumer shutdown continues. Nominees make it through. How many gang members are in Chicago and caught speeding? A lot. It's all coming up. Then. Bill's gonna be here with your message of the day. But first, during this ongoing government shutdown, a congressman from Virginia, Republican congressman, is advocating for legislation that would extend the enhanced Obamacare tax credits all of 2026. They're set to expire at the end of this year. So this would extend them for a whole year. But the leader of the Democrats in the House, Hakeem Jeffries, said a one year extension is a quote, non starter. He's demanding a permanent extension of these Obamacare subsidies, which, by the way, has the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare made health insurance or health care more affordable in the last 15 years? Anyway, Jeffrey said, what world are these MAGA extremists living in right now to think that Democrats are going to go along with a one year extension from a group of people, meaning the Republicans, who just permanently extended massive tax breaks for their millionaire donors. The subsidies in question, by the way, subsidized people making from 129,000 to to $600,000 per year. During this now seventh day of the government shutdown, the US Senate voted 51 to 47 to confirm over 100 of President Trump's nominees, 107 in total. Two dozen are ambassador appointments and a dozen US attorneys. Republicans made a rules change. Now the majority party is allowed to pass nominees in block rather than on an individual basis. Data from the University of Chicago Crime Lab, cnn, ap, the Chicago Police Department and the Chicago Sun Times shows that from 2016 to October 7th of this year, so over 10 years, there have been 6,200 murders in Chicago and 32,000 shooting victims. That's fatal and non fatal combined. And then of course, their families and just the chaos and fear that ensues from that 32,000 shooting victims. This while the senator from Connecticut, Chris Murphy said, said Trump's focus on Chicago has nothing to do with crime. It's an attempt to crush political dissent. Yeah, that's it. The director of the FBI just said that we learned the streets of Chicago have 110,000 gang members. Jay Jones has still not dropped out of the race for attorney general in Virginia. This after he sent texts saying he would choose to kill this Republican lawmaker over Hitler and Pol Pot, hoping his wife and children would die. Just like wicked stuff. The election's coming up November 5th. It also turns out this guy in 2022 was pulled over for speeding at 1am 116 miles per hour. He was given 1,000 hours community service. It turns out 500 of those hours he served working at his own pack. I'm Mike Slater from Politics by faith. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day next.

Time now for the O'Reilly update. Message of the day on this Wednesday. The horror of October 7th is well remembered by those of us who believe justice is important in this world. I open my new book, Confronting Evil by putting the reader in the small Israeli town that Hamas attacked for absolutely no reason. After you read what happened two years ago, you will understand evil. And that vision is very important. The attack on 911 is similar. What gains were made by bin Laden and al Qaeda? How did Hamas do after slaughtering innocent Jews 23 years later? The answer is nothing was gained. Massive death and destruction followed both cowardly attacks. I guess that's what the terrorists want, violence for the sake of violence. No cause justifies that. Misguided souls the world over who sympathize with terror groups usually have their own individual problems. Steer clear of those people because they enable evil in this world. Those who pursue peace and justice should be respected and acknowledged. Too often we don't do that. But it is imperative for all good people to mobilize against the horror in this world. And the first week of October is the perfect time to Start. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me billorilly.com, billoriley.com, name in town if you wish to opine now, let's go to the mail. Kurt. Has it occurred to you, Bill, that the folks who don't want to admit the crime in their cities is out of control is because it's really admission of their failed leadership? If I live there, I would sell everything and leave the city. And a lot of people are doing that. California, New York City, Illinois, getting out. Yes, you're Absolutely right. If they say crime's out of control in Chicago and you're the governor or the mayor, you're, you're admitting that you are a abject failure. John CONCIERGE MEMBER John gets direct access to me and free book. The National Guard wouldn't have to be there if the politicians that control these cities had control of crime. They are to be blamed for the open borders during the Biden administration. I agree with the first part of your statement, John, not the second. The far left politicians supported the open border, but they're not responsible for it. That's right at Biden's doorstep. Only him. The worst public policy decision in the history of this country. David Concierge member bill with Mr. Fine's comments today. He was a counselor who is a former U.S. attorney and he knows everything about the Constitution. We had him on yesterday. If you missed that, you ought to watch it. I'm confused about what is or isn't accurate. Either Trump has the authority to order federal resources to various cities or he doesn't, and the Supreme Court will make that decision. David Now, I laid out all the facts at the top of this broadcast. As a concierge member, you can get a transcript and all concierge members should, but I don't know how the court's going to rule. If they rule on the Constitution and the law, then Trump wins. In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. 232 years ago today, a founding father, statesman, merchant, alleged smuggler died at his home in Boston. His signature is the most famous in the world. Here is the story of John Hancock. Born 1737 in Braintree, Massachusetts, young Hancock was a childhood friend of John Adams. After his father's death, the boy was dispatched to live with his wealthy uncle. An importer of rum and whale oil, John attended Harvard, then joined the family business after the English Parliament imposed high taxes on the colonies. Hancock led a boycott of English goods. In retaliation, British officials accused the merchant of smuggling illegal products into Boston. His fleet of ships were confiscated by the Crown. Hancock was soon elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, then as a delegate to the continental Congress. In 1775, the British army issued orders to arrest Hancock and Samuel Adams. The two were warned by Paul Revere during his famous midnight ride and evaded capture. John Hancock then became the president of the Continental Congress. One year later, Hancock was one of the first men to sign the Declaration of Independence. During the war, he served as a major general in the Massachusetts militia. After the conflict was over, he was elected governor of Massachusetts. In 1788, Hancock ran for president, but lost to George Washington. With his health failing, he retired to Boston. There, he died on October 8, 1793, at the age of 56. Cause of death, heart disease, gout, arthritis, and here's something else you might not know. The legacy of John Hancock lives on. Today, his name is honored by six Navy ships, a life insurance company, 20 cities in the USA, 35 counties, and the John Hancock Tower, the tallest building in Boston. Back in a moment.
