Hey everybody. Welcome back to Bird's Eye View. For today's show, we've got two of the fiercest competitors in women's basketball right now. One is a certified bucket, maybe a certified crashout who can take over any game. And the other is a force dominating both ends of the floor while proudly representing Canada and UConn. These two bring elite skill, undeniable chemistry and highlight worthy energy everywhere they play. I am talking about none other than the Connecticut sun and the Lunar Owl's very own Marina Mabry and Aaliyah Edwards. But before we get into the show, you know what time it is. It's time for Sue's View. Support for this show comes from TNT Sports. Get ready for the unrivaled one on one tournament presented by Sprite. It's the world's best basketball players in the best competition in the country. We one court, no teammates, no questions, just pure skill until one player stands alone. Make sure to check out the championship match tomorrow, February 14th. The unrivaled one on one tournament presented by Sprite continues on TNT, TruTV and HBO Max. Hi, this is Bella Freud. I'm the host of Fashion Neurosis. This week on the show, Esther Perel is on my couch.

Erotic recovery is part of trauma healing.
C (1:36)
God, that's interesting.
A (1:38)
It's not the reward at the end. Yeah, that's the difference. And I think we both come together around that construct.
B (1:47)
Yeah. Find fashion neurosis on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.

Okay, so for this week's Suze View, I'm going to talk about the unrivaled one on one tournament. It is back. By the time this pod drops, it will have already started. But I did want to do a quick refresher. So here we go. 30 players were put into four pods and then fans got to vote on seeding, which is spicy, but eventually seed 1 will play 8, 2 will play 7, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. And then it is bracket style. From there, the tournament is single elimination, except for the finals, which is best of three. Games are played to 11 or 10 minutes in length, whichever comes first. If you're winning after the 10 minutes is up, you're the winner. That 10 minute clock does not stop and there is a seven second shot clock for each possession, it's make it take it. So every player is going to be trying to stay on offense and they're using twos and threes. Now let's talk about the money part. So the Overall pool is 353and it gets split up like this. If you win, you take home 200k and each one of your teammates gets 10k also, which is like the equivalent of being in the group project that got an A but you didn't do any work except I guess here it's like you cheered them on. But I love the incentive. The runner up gets 50,000 and then the two other semifinalists take home 25k right away. Last year you could see the different strategies that each player was using. I'm really excited to see what adjustments are made and what new strategies come out. You also saw how size impacted the tournament and so we'll have to wait and see if that's still the case or if something changes. It's actually really hard to pick a winner I think mainly because you just don't know how much size is going to play a role and also because it depends on matchups. But it's really hard not to thank the two way players that have size. Alicia Gray, Kaliyah Copper, Jackie Young. Like it would make sense for them to do well. At the same time, I feel like Chelsea Gray is having such a good season I would lean towards her. I also think Kelsey Plum is just so tough. Like offense, just so tough. And I'd imagine Brianna Stewart is going to be on a little bit of a redemption tour from last year's early exit. So those are some of the players I have my eye on, but tbd and of course I can't forget my guests. Marina Mabry will be making her debut and Aaliyah Edwards is going to try to get back to the finals. As you guys probably know, last year Nafisa Collier took home the crown and became the first champ ever. But because of Fee's injury, it means we are guaranteed to have a new winner. So make sure you check it out. Unrivaled is known for its savvy business decisions and creativity and the one on one tournament is a great example of that. But you saw it all on full display when they went on the road and played two games in Philadelphia. No two people better talk about that experience than our next guest. So let's get to it. Please welcome Marina Mabry and Aaliyah Edwards to the hey guys, thanks for coming on the show.
