Hi, welcome to a bonus episode of BLEEP with Ana Navarro. Today, I thought I'd break down the interview of J.D. vance on the View. Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that J.D. vance came on the View earlier this week and we all six hosts were there. This is something that we have done in the past for sitting vice presidents and sitting precedents when they visit the View. All six hosts of all of us were there that day. I'm gonna say this, the View has been on for 29 seasons. Next year is our 30th anniversary and it has been a place for different viewpoints. We have invited many Republicans on many have come on. In more recent years, it's become more difficult and Republicans get invited many, many times. Many of them and they don't wanna come on the View because of course we are critical. We are not going to do softball interviews of Republicans or democr Democrats and they choose not to come. But that is except when they are trying to sell books. You see, the View is very good at selling books and they know that. In fact, I discussed that yesterday with J.D. vance and he said off the air and he said, yeah, I was told you guys sell books. So that's why they come. And I'll say this, a lot of Republicans, what they come and do is they come on the View and create a moment, create a moment of tension, you know, trigger a fight, that type of thing. So that then they can run over to Fox News and run over to right wing media outlets and talk about how they triggered the women of the View, how they owned the liberals, how they got attacked by the women of the View and then they turned that into a whole thing in order to go to right wing media and continue selling books. To his credit, J.D. vance did not do that yesterday. And I will say there was no question and no topic that was off the table. His team did not give us any limitations on of what we could ask him. We worked really hard on an interview like this. Whenever a president, a vice president is coming on, we work hard on this. With six women at the table, you've gotta make sure that the questions are not duplicative, that everybody's asking what they are interested in. So we kind of divide the topics. I wanted to ask him about immigration, which I did. I wanted to ask him about Trump's health, never got to that. And I wanted to ask him about 2028 and this run, this kind of like Donald Trump goes around doing a poll of his, the people around him on whether he should support Rubio or Vance. Never got to that either. So we had a bunch of questions that we didn't get to. We did ask him about Epstein, we did ask him about the economy, about immigration. And we asked him, you know, I asked him about how he reconciles the values of Catholicism and his faith with his immigration policies. The immigration policies of this administration that drags pregnant women, that puts children in the most infra human conditions in detention centers, that is showing zero compassion and dehumanizing immigrants the way that they are. I will tell you this, J.D. vance is a smart guy. When you got him on, you've got to be prepared. You've got to be prepared with follow ups, you've got to be prepared with facts. You've got to be prepared to push back. And why do you need to push back? Because he lied. He lied and lied and lied in this interview. He came in behaving like Mr. Rogers. He was affable and disarming and Charming and laughing easily. It was like it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood type vibe he was giving off, despite the fact that he knew he was coming in a place where we criticize him harshly. But, you know, past that Mr. Rogers veneer. And by the way, I saw a lot of people online commenting about my facial expression when he walked in. Look, I wear my feelings on my face. You all know what I think about this administration. I think it is a shameful time in America. And I think that the way that they are particularly targeting and profiling, racially profiling the Latino community and the immigrant community is something abhorrent that I will never look the other way on and never pretend that it's not happening. And so, yeah, I. I got told, you know, that my expression was cold as eyes. Well, folks, I'm there to interview him. I'm there to ask him tough questions. I'm not there to be Barney the Dinosaur or Elmo, okay? That's not who I am. If you want warm and fuzzy, you've got the wrong girl. So the reason that it got tense at times is because we had to push back on this guy, right? Like on Epstein. He tried to say that Trump kind of knew him casually, that they'd known each other in the 80s. That's a lie. They were best friends for over a decade. He tried to say that it was Trump who had turned Epstein into the police. That's a lie. The first person that reported Trump to the FBI and to the police was the Farmer sisters. It was because he was molesting. Because Epstein was molesting the younger sister. And also the reason that Trump called the police on Epstein is because of a bad real estate deal. It wasn't to turn him in because he had moral issues with the guy. It wasn't because he found him repulsive, because he was having, you know, doing all these things, sexually harassing and assaulting young women. Women. It was because Jeffrey Epstein basically pulled the rug from under Trump's feet when it came to a real estate deal. So I will say that I thought the interview went well. He answered, he lied. We pushed back. He was likable. But then at night, I see that he's going to Fox News and doing what Republicans do. You see, he went on Fox News and he said that Whoopi had accused him of being racist. That's a lie. Whoopi never accused him of being racist. Whoopi said, you know, what's your problem? What's this administration's problem with black people and the Things that are happening vis a vis black people and people of color. How does that sit with you? She didn't tell him you're a racist. She said, these are the things you're doing. How does that sit with you? So when he goes on Fox News and he tries to pretend that he got called a racist, he is bald face lying. And I also wanna say there was like a tense moment between Whoopi and I where I wanted to get in a question. I wanted to get him, as we were talking about the racism of this administration, precisely on that topic. I wanted to get him to answer whether Michelle Obama being called a man by a UFC fighter at the White House Sunday night is something that he, J.D. vance, would condemn. We were running out of time. Whoopi was annoyed that I was trying to push him on that as we were trying to wrap and get to commercial break. These things happen on live tv. Let me just say, Whoopi Goldberg and I are very close friends. I lean on her for so much. I count on her for advice. And, and these things happen on live tv. I have never taken it outside of the studio and neither has Whoopi. Believe me, we are good. That's basically the story of what happened on the View. I am glad that J.D. vance came on. I hope he comes back because frankly, we ran out of time and we had a bunch of other issues we wanted to ask him about. Of course, we wanted to ask him about Iran. We wanted to ask him about a bunch of different issues. I mean, pages and pages of questions and follow ups we had. But you know, he's, you know, the answers run long then, then it takes time to push back on the lies. So next thing you know, you've run out of time because it is a live show. It is not a pre taped or edited show. So I hope that Republicans show up and defend their policies and have a civil debate. I think we treated him politely and civilly. You know, we, that's how we treat all our guests. And I think that's how we should treat all our guests. And I hope that Republicans take this as an invitation for more of them to come on so that we can have frank, open, polite and civil but tough debate about policy issues and the issues that interest America. So, J.D. if you listen to this, come back to the View, you survived this time and hopefully you sell some books from it all. That's it for this bonus episode of Bleep with Ana Navarro on the J.D. vance interview. But I hope you tune in on Monday when we have a brand new episode. I'm sitting down with Lin Manuel Miranda and his dad, Luis Miranda. It's a special treat for Father's Day. I'm gonna talk a lot about their relationship as father and sons, but also their activism, their artistry. Listen, we're going to have a great conversation. These two guys are terrific and I think you're going to enjoy it.
