Welcome back to BNI and the Power of One. Back with our weekly presentation coaching episodes where we are reviewing submitted weekly presentations to try to help make them as effective as possible. If you ever want yours done, go to bnipower of1.com and leave it there. Today we are hearing from Karen Kuman Diak. I'm assuming I'm pronouncing all that correctly. Hopefully I am. Karen is a travel advisor. She's at BNI Impact in Winnipeg, Canada. So Karen, thank you for taking time and submitting. She says I'm sending over my 60 second introduction for the Power of One podcast. Appreciate all the work you do in reviewing weekly presentations and providing tips for improvement. Looking forward to your feedback. And let's see. Okay, so I got to hear 60 seconds. I'm going to pull up my timer again. Karen, just for point of reference, you and I will do this at different speeds. First time I'm reading it, et cetera, but it'll give us a point. So here we go. Good day. B and I Impacting Guests My name is Karen Kuman Diack and I hold the Travel Advisor seat for the chapter. I help busy moms, dads and business professionals alike who either don't have time or the experience or expertise to bring their vacation vision to life or they want the security of having a travel professional in their back pocket while exploring far off destinations. My ask this week is that while talking with friends and colleagues, ask them if they have any upcoming vacation plans and if they listen for key phrases that single a smooth introduction to my travel services. You may hear phrases like I was hoping to head somewhere new this year, but I haven't had time to research. We're celebrating a special event this year and I want to go somewhere special. Or maybe it's something like I'm trying to organize a trip for friends and family and it's hard to find something everyone will enjoy. I specialize in creating tailored travel experiences, making the process stress free and ensuring that clients get the best value and vacation experience, no matter the pain point in vacation planning. I can help. Thank you. Karen Kuman Diack, your connection to Sun Sational destinations around the world. Okay, so it took me a minute and four seconds. Also my first time reading and I tripped over it a little bit. My general thing is you got good structure here. The problem is too many things and what I mean by that is too many asks for referrals and too many different types of triggers to listen for and know what to say. Okay, so we're again just to Review the three main things we got to make sure we're hitting is who, how, what, who are we looking for, what are we listening for? To find out if somebody's in that market and what do we say to them? Who needs to be specific? Okay, so you said I work help busy moms, dads, business professionals alike. That's going all over the place. And then even when you talk, when you're talking with friends and colleagues and anybody like that, we're going out, you want to pick one area. Okay, so is it the busy moms you're going to talk about? Is it the busy dads? Is it the. It could be the mom or dad, but a solar, a solo breadwinner in the family, is it a business professional? Is it a business trip? Is it a family trip, is it a friends trip? These are all different. Different things. Different things to listen for, different things to say. And so you want to narrow your focus down to one of them. Okay, that's the who part, the how part. How do. How do we know? So it's who, how, what? Right. So how is. How do we know they're in the market? What could they be saying? You do a good job where you're talking about, listen to key phrases that signal a smooth introduction to my travel services. But then you listen too many. Right. We want to narrow the focus, and that trigger needs to fit with whatever the referral request is. So a busy mom, it could be one thing. I'm listening for a busy dad, it could be a different thing. I'm listening for a business trip, it could be a different thing. I'm listening for a friend's trip, it could be a different thing. I'm looking for a big family gathering, it could be a different thing. I'm looking for, listening for, for. And so the beauty for you is you got a lot of different weekly presentations you'll be doing, which is great, because you don't really care at the end of the day which one triggers what person. You just want them to be effective and to bring the referrals to you. And so instead of trying to get all of them at once, spreading them out will actually increase the odds you get any of them. And that's the beauty of it. Now you have a lot to talk about, and they'll sound different, even though it's all going towards the same goal. All right, so I would pick again. It's busy moms or who are going crazy during the holiday season and really just want to get away and. But haven't had any time to plan anything, here's what you might hear and when you hear this, here's what you ask them. And that ask could be very simple. Like have you ever considered working with somebody who can help take a lot of the work off for you and make it easy for you? You know, I work with somebody closely who will do that for you. But you got to train them to have that conversation for all of us. Again, we need to train people how to have a conversation, a conversation that is triggered based, that is with the intent of attempting to bring us up and make a referral and realizing we're not there, we're not part of that conversation. So you got to train people on, here's what you're going to hear, here's what you can ask. And it's going to be a natural, comfortable kind of trends as you called it, a smooth transition over. So it's not going to be your sales language, your sales pitch, your what you would say to a customer or client. But I would narrow your focus and you can you have time to incorporate a story into it. Let me tell you a story of a client I've been working with or I worked with is super busy. Mom, you know, looking to try to get away, really stressed out, knows the family would love a vacation, hasn't had any time to plan it. Here's what we did. You don't have to go into the whole details. We were able to really take all that stress off. Family had an amazing time. I'm looking to meet the busy mom in your life such as your sister or your friend. Here's what you're going to hear them saying during this time. Here's what you can ask them. Here's how you can make the introduction. Something around that line will be far more effective for that. Otherwise I think what you're going to end up running into is a lot more tier 1 referrals than tier 2 referrals. Going through this way, it's almost kind of like we're targeting everybody in the room. You're not. You didn't say anything like you have you. I can help you with. Have you considered those kind of things? Which is great but because we didn't really get down into some because it was too many things, it becomes ineffective and just kind of you're hoping for the people in the room. So narrow your focus a little bit and really, really teach on each one individually instead of trying to lump them all in. So very common. It's, it's not a bad weekly I wouldn't say this is awful by any means. Like I think this is very common in even better organized than most because you did get into the triggers and stuff. Just trying to catch too much at once. That would be my feedback. Hopefully it's helpful if you do it again. Definitely resubmit it. And for everybody else, be brave. Submit yours go to bnipower of1.com and if you're finding value out of this, this tends to be one of the ones this the weekly presentation part. Use it at your chapter meetings as education moments. Share with other members. You know that you feel like may be struggling with it or need to hear it. You text them a link say hey, listen to this. I think it could help you. Whatever, whatever way we can get it out to help more B and I members, I'd appreciate. Have a great day.
