Foreign welcome back to BNI and the Power of One. We are back with weekly presentation coaching. We review submitted weekly presentations. You can submit yours@bnipowerofone.com Today we're hearing from Charlie Nunes from Tampa, Florida. So it doesn't say how long, so I'm assuming it's 60 seconds. So pulling on my timer, Charlie, is the time to give you point of reference. So we'll dive right into yours. Here we go. Charlie Nunes with Melaleuca, the wellness company. Those aged 50 plus often experience an expanding midsection, softer muscles and general physical decline. But this is not inevitable. These issues are avoidable and indeed they're even reversible. The standard weight loss tricks that may have worked in their 30s and 40s no longer keep the weight off. They may be eating just as healthy and exercising, but they're still gaining weight. Why? That is what the whole body reset is all about. The next time your 50 year old uncle complains about not being able to do what he did just 10 years ago, let him know that you know a senior that specializes helping people who are 50 and older and ask, would you like to talk to him? Charlie Nunes, the Melaleuca with Melaleuca, the wellness company Making America healthy again. Okay, so that went 45 seconds. You got plenty of time. Actually just under 45 seconds. I would do a couple things on this. Number one, a little less commercial, like a little bit more story. Okay. These are the types of ones where you want to share some results that you've seen from somebody that you're targeting. I also would tell you that the majority of your members in your chapter just. I have, I'm assuming, Charlie, you're over 50 because you called yourself a senior. That's the case. And the majority of BNI members are not super young. I, I forget the average, it's still in the 50s, I think the average age, early 50s, which means the people you're talking to, their uncle is not 50, their uncle's 70 plus. So you gotta just realize that I don't know your chapter at all. But I would look around and say, okay, if I'm gonna ask for uncles, what's the age I'm looking for? And you might say, well I'm saying 40 or. And older, 50 and older. I mean they're hearing 50. So if you're gonna talk about uncles and BNI, I'd be talking a story about a 70 year old. Plus that you're helping be that specific because yeah, majority of your chapter members are not in their 20s, maybe early 30s, there will be a couple. But the high majority, that's not the case. So start with that, number one. So if we're gonna target, you know, senior uncles, I would again, I would get rid of some of the standard weight loss tricks may not have worked in the 30s and 40s. And that's where the whole body reset is. I would go into. Let me tell you a story of a 70 year old man I've been working with who is actually pretty active but isn't seeing the same results. So you're kind of saying the same thing, but you're making it a little bit. And it's a story which people like, they tend to listen to stories and stories are shareable, which is what you're going to need with this kind of product. You don't even have to talk about the whole body reset. You don't even need to mention that product and at all unless you're trying to sell it in the room. Not really a purpose to this, to the name of it. The name of it doesn't matter. What we're looking for is who are you looking for? How do we identify and what do we say? So I would tell the story and say, I want to meet your uncle who remains active but is complaining about how it's no longer working. Or I want to meet your uncle who's complaining about how the exercising is getting significantly more difficult. Or your uncle who's complaining about. And all of these can be separate weekly presentations. Your uncle who's complaining about the fact that he's still gaining weight even though he is exercising. And then so you have that you have. The uncle complains about not being able to do what he did just 10 years ago. Let him know, you know a senior that specializes in helping people who are 50 and older and ask. I would change that a little bit too. So your uncle is complaining about not being able to keep doing what he did 10 years ago. Ask him this question and then fill in the blank. Something like, what do you mean? What have you been doing? What has been the struggle? Have you looked at any solutions to that? And when they say no, I think it's just getting older, then I can say, well, actually I work closely with somebody who helps people like you see those results. Would you be open to an introduction? Right, tweak it that way again. We gotta, for all of us, paint, really paint the picture of what this is gonna look like and sound like and put people in the situation because you're training them. You're training them. If you had a sales team and you were doing training, that's what you would be doing. You'd be telling them, all right, let's train on how do we handle this? How do we handle this? What do we do in this situation? How do you close this situation? You would be putting them in scenarios. And obviously you have days of training to be able to do all those and you don't be an eye. But that's kind of the mindset of it, right? The more vagueness you leave in there, the less likely you're going to get results. If you're like, oh, they understand, they don't understand. So really paint the picture. Okay, so I would start something like Those who are 50 plus often experiencing expanding midsections and softer muscles and. But that's not inevitable and doesn't have to be the case. Let me tell you a story about the 70 year old man I've been working with. He was struggling with gaining weight, even though he was pretty active. And we were able to help him start seeing the results he was seeing earlier in his life from the same activity. So if you're, when you're at your family cookout and your older uncle starts complaining about not being able to, what he, to do what he did just 10 years ago, or complaining about the things he's doing is no longer work, he's gaining weight despite doing the things he's always done. Ask him what he's been doing about it. Ask him if he's looked into any solutions. Tell him, you know somebody you work really closely with that can help him and would he be open to at least an introduction? That's it. I mean, you had 15 seconds more to add and you can cut out that standard weight loss tricks paragraph. You can cut out the making America healthy again stuff. Not because it's like, even though it is somewhat political right now, which is crazy, but not, not because of that. Because your taglines don't matter. You don't need them. You don't need them. They're, they're, they're useless. Honestly. They really are like. So if you're, I mean, it's not that you can't use them, but if you're running tight on time, cut, cut there right away. It's. Even though it's like a second. So I think you got pieces here. I do. I think you've got some structure you can just tweak and make stronger. But it came across to me a little commercially and not highly effective in the what to say you, you did narrow down the who and you and you. You got the what in there. But I think you can strengthen them all. And I think the what to say part just jumps right into the ending. Right? So as I like to tell everybody, mostly your members know how to end the conversation. Like, they know how to say things like, hey, I know somebody who might be able to help. Can I make an introduction? They don't know how to start the conversation. And if they don't know how to start the conversation, they're not going to get to the end of the conversation. And depending on your product and service and everything else, that can be really hard. Right? Like, you gotta really train them because your members are not generally gonna have be willing to have an uncomfortable conversation for you. So really paint that picture. Really explain to them what it's gonna look like, what it's gonna sound like, what the complaint's gonna be. What's the opening question, the leading question to get into that conversation? I. I can. And you can teach them the end, but they're gonna be pretty good at the. The last part of it. All right, so, Charlie, thank you for submitting. Really appreciate it. Everybody else who submits, keep them coming, submit your own. And if you're finding value out of this, let me know. Leave a review. Apple podcast, Spotify, however you're finding, I appreciate it. Have a great day.

BNI 825: Weekly Presentation 136 - Charlie Nunez - Melaleuca
Release Date: June 6, 2025
Host: Tim Roberts
In episode BNI 825: Weekly Presentation 136, host Tim Roberts delves into the art of crafting effective weekly presentations within the BNI (Business Network International) framework. This episode features a comprehensive review and coaching session of a submitted presentation by Charlie Nunez from Melaleuca, a wellness company based in Tampa, Florida. The focus is on enhancing presentation techniques to maximize engagement and referrals among BNI members.
At the outset, Charlie delivers a succinct 45-second presentation aimed at addressing the health concerns of individuals aged 50 and above. His key message revolves around combating the common physical challenges faced by this demographic, such as expanding midsections, softer muscles, and general physical decline. Charlie emphasizes that these issues are neither inevitable nor irreversible, highlighting the limitations of traditional weight loss methods that may have been effective in earlier decades but falter in maintaining weight loss later in life.
Notable Quote:
"Those aged 50 plus often experience an expanding midsection, softer muscles, and general physical decline. But this is not inevitable. These issues are avoidable and indeed they're even reversible."
[00:32]
Charlie introduces the concept of a "whole body reset" as a solution, suggesting that even those who maintain healthy eating and regular exercise might still struggle with weight gain. He concludes his pitch by urging listeners to connect their contacts with his services if they encounter relatives struggling with these age-related challenges.
Tim Roberts offers a detailed and constructive critique of Charlie's presentation, focusing on several key areas for improvement:
Storytelling Over Commercial Tone:

Audience Alignment and Targeting:

[06:50]

[07:35]

[08:20]
