Nederland moet een grotere militaire bijdrage leveren aan de veiligheid van Oekraïne zodra de oorlog ten einde komt. Dat schrijft de Adviesraad Internationale Vraagstukken (AIV). Volgens de raad moet er een internationale garantiemacht komen die toeziet op de veiligheid van Oekraïne en daarmee ook die van Europa. De Coalition of the Willing, onder leiding van het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Frankrijk, werkt daar al aan, maar Nederland moet daarin een veel prominentere rol spelen, zegt AIV-voorzitter en oud-minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Bert Koenders tegen BNR. ‘Dat betekent inderdaad ook boots on the ground.’
