How do we get Dan to jump in the Jack swim stadium pool? Gabe Davis, multi touchdown game. That's a great. That's a really good comment.
Jenna Cottrell
That's so good.
Mike Adalana
Okay, if Gabe gets two touchdowns, you will jump in the pool.
Jenna Cottrell
Yes. Thousand p. Love it.
Dan Fates
How do I get there?
Mike Adalana
We'll figure out a way to get you. Come on. Two touchdowns.
Jenna Cottrell
Shake on it?
Mike Adalana
Yes.
Dan Fates
Now, from the Connors and Ferris podcast studio, this is the Buffalo plus podcast.
Mike Adalana
There we go.
Jenna Cottrell
There it is. Hello and welcome to Buffalo Plus. Mike Adalana, Dan Fates. I am Jenna Cottrell. Please be sure to like, comment, subscribe and share. We are here in the Connors and Ferris podcast studio. Thank you so much for everyone joining tonight. We got the feed going up. If you have any questions, be sure to reach out as we are talking playoffs, gentlemen.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
The NFL postseason is finally here.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, I'm excited about this. I. I think just if you love football, this is an incredible weekend. I mean, you got double header, triple header, Monday night game, plus the college games, if you're into that too. It's so much football. It's all big. I think it is the most wide open playoffs we've seen in a long, long time.
Dan Fates
Nope. It's all Josh Allen. He has to win. It is not wide open. It is just Josh and the Bills and all the pressure.
Mike Adalana
Colin, that was right. Colin Cowherd.
Dan Fates
That's all I have ever heard this week.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, that's fair.
Mike Adalana
It is kind of funny narratives.
Dan Fates
They're so fun. Colin Coward said that the Bills were the eighth best team in the postseason. The Jags are the third best team and the Bills are the only team that cannot lose this week.
Mike Adalana
Right.
Dan Fates
Because. Because Lamar's not in it. Like that has any impact.
Jenna Cottrell
I love that too. Not like Josh is in. The Bills have beaten Lamar in the postseason.
Dan Fates
Right. Well, now that Lamar's not in it, it's like the guy that they've beaten the last two years.
Mike Adalana
This is what I, I said this the other day and I like to repeat myself. The reason the Chiefs aren't in the playoffs is they stunk this year.
Dan Fates
Yes.
Mike Adalana
They were not good enough. They were the third best team in their division. That's only because the Raiders were there. Mahomes has been incredible. He wasn't this year. The team finally hit the wall. They were out two other teams better than him. The Ravens were not good enough. They just fired their coach. When Lamar played, they still blew games. The Bills beat them. They were the second best team in their division. I don't love the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the Steelers beat them twice. And then you've got the Bengals, who stink. And I know Joe Burrow gets my point. Is this idea that, oh, these guys are out of it? Well, if they were in the playoffs, magically put them in and Mahomes was healthy, I don't know. Are they better teams than the Jaguars this year, than the Jaguars, the Texans, all these other teams? I don't think so. Yeah, so it's, it's, it's ridiculous.
Dan Fates
Comments coming in. Want to make sure we appreciate the chats and all that stuff. Tonight we'll be answering your questions. Obviously, we've had videos and content all week. We were up at practice yesterday, all these kind of things. Question from Pops Mafia says, who will be the Bills wide receivers for the game in Jacksonville? Which is something I feel like we've talked a lot about off the air.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
And I think it also gets a little bit different now and we're talking about it because of Josh Palmer not practicing today.
Jenna Cottrell
I do think it's funny because we started this channel because we talk about the Bills so much off of air. Even even though we do all of this content for you, all that we post all of the time, we still talk about this team a lot. Even not on camera.
Dan Fates
There's some takes that are too hot for the year. Yeah, those things are too hot for YouTube.
Jenna Cottrell
Do you think this is gonna be a Gabe Davis revenge game?
Dan Fates
Game's going to be active.
Jenna Cottrell
I agree.
Dan Fates
Revenge is revenge 4 for 40, which.
Mike Adalana
I'd revenge for them giving him $13 million a year.
Dan Fates
Yeah, it's Shakir.
Mike Adalana
Let's just stop there.
Jenna Cottrell
I was slouching. Someone said Josh said or no, who said this? I don't know. I just. Oh, Dave said. Jenna, sit up, please.
Dan Fates
It's already happening.
Mike Adalana
Shakir is going to play Brandon Cooks, who's now like the guy.
Dan Fates
He's my guy.
Mike Adalana
He's the guy. Oh, and then you've got Shavers, who. Everybody loves Shavers.
Dan Fates
Correct. Those three are in. And then you have two spots with three guys and one they don't want.
Mike Adalana
To play, which is Keon. But he's going to end up being active because Palmer.
Dan Fates
Palmer has to do. Palmer has to be at least limited tomorrow.
Mike Adalana
I don't think that's happening.
Dan Fates
What's his injury again?
Jenna Cottrell
Ankle, I believe. Let me double check.
Mike Adalana
A lot of ankles.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. Ty Johnson, ankle injury.
Mike Adalana
That one concerns me. Two days in a row with Ty not practicing, hopefully. I mean, if you ask me which one I'd rather have on the field, I'd rather have Ty. I. You know, he doesn't make a hundred plays, but he usually makes big ones. If you remember in the playoffs with Denver.
Dan Fates
Unbelievable catch, tremendous play. Best third down running back. Ray's been good, but he's come on strong at the end of the season.
Mike Adalana
I think that also means more James Cook on third down, which I'm fine with.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, so am I. Josh Palmer is an ankle. Ty Johnson is an ankle. Both did not practice today.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, Matt Prater practiced fully. Now, that's what they're giving the reporters there. We don't see the kickers practice on. I mean, you kind of sometimes see them in the. In the.
Dan Fates
Okay.
Mike Adalana
Field house. So Matt Prater practiced. What that means, we don't know because we don't know how he'll feel tomorrow. We don't know if there was any issues.
Jenna Cottrell
But Sean did say that was the plan.
Mike Adalana
Right. But we. It was considered a full practice and then we'll see. If not, I think you're gonna see Matthew Wright activated from the practice squad. They have to do that. Right. I mean, then you'd have him available if something happens the morning of the game or wakes up feeling that way? I would think, unless they felt very, very confident in that case, which I don't know if they're going to.
Jenna Cottrell
It's such a tough spot to be in for the Bills. Just considering like how good the Jags kicker is and Cam Little. And then looking at where the uncertainty really does lie in. In a position that in the playoffs, I feel like it gets that much more important because, you know these games are going to be that much closer.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. It's not like you're sitting there going, man, the Bills could hit a 65 yard field goal. You just want a kicker.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
You want somebody who can kick the ball.
Dan Fates
You want extra points.
Mike Adalana
Yes. Like. And potential. Like, you know, because sometimes people are say, well, you put him out there and if he gets hurt, you go for two, you could be in a circumstance. Down by three points with 30 seconds to go at the 17 yard line. You got to kick the field goal to tie the game. So I don't know.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. All right. We're talking. We talked some injuries. We talked wide receiver. I do think Dalton Kincaid is someone that we know that has been on and off of the injury report. Kincaid was limited yet again at practice. Sean McDermott has talked for a couple weeks now about. What is the phrase?
Dan Fates
Injury. Management.
Jenna Cottrell
Injury management. Where do you think his health is going in to the postseason. And just how important is he for this offense?
Dan Fates
Massively important. And I thought Sean kind of summed that up very briefly when he was asked about that on Wednesday. Just said, you don't need to look too far into the numbers to see what the Bill's offense is and the record with him. And without him on the field, where's his health? I don't think it's great.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
But I. He's going to be good enough to go and he's going to be. I especially, I think, because of how much he played in that jets game makes me think he's better than what he's been, say maybe a month or two ago, I think, so many times. It seems like the last six weeks he, like, hasn't practiced Wednesday or Thursday and has seemingly played quite a few games. So that's a good sign where it's like, at least he's limited. Sean even said, I think that he's in a better spot this week or last week than where he was the week before. So he's obviously seems to be improving as they just kind of pretty much rest him.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, I don't. I think he's going to be listed as limited for as long as the Bills are in the playoffs. Right.
Dan Fates
For his career.
Mike Adalana
Well, I don't know if they want to feel that way, but I do believe this is.
Jenna Cottrell
That's.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, I don't think he's. He did look good running, like. So let's see where he is. I mean, it was interesting to see him out there and he made a couple of plays and they get him ready. They are in such need of a guy who can make plays beyond 10 yards. Like, he has had at least one play. I have to look at it. He's had at least one play of 20 yards in the majority of the times he's been on the field. He definitely leads the team. Kincaid.
Dan Fates
Yeah. Depth of target. Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. And so, you know, watching that team, they need somebody who's going to make those kind of plays. So, yeah, I think it's very important to get him out there.
Jenna Cottrell
Christine saying Knox and Kincaid, I think will have a great game. We know Dawson Knox displayed very well. We. We joke that he has been tight end one over this last stretch. I know that obviously Kincaid has dealt with his injuries, but I do think for the Bills offense, they are going to key pieces because we know kind of the limitations at wide receiver now with the Joshua Palmer injury. Have to see how things will go from there. But how big of an Impact do you think those two guys can have?
Mike Adalana
Look, that is the strength of this team beyond the obvious ones in Allen, you know, and James Cook. And they have had pretty good games. Like they. If you look, you know, Knox has stepped up and made plays for them and Kincaid when he's on the field. And I know a lot of you want Kincaid on the field for 65, 70% of that. It's not going to happen. Nope. They don't trust him in those circumstances. They don't get the benefit of the blocking that they need and. But hey, look, if he comes out in the snaps that he has and makes plays in the passing game, that's what you want. He becomes Dan, would you say he's almost like a specialist? It's almost like a pass catching specialist, right?
Dan Fates
Yeah, he's.
Mike Adalana
I mean the reason I bring.
Dan Fates
No idea. He's like a third down wide receiver.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. Like.
Jenna Cottrell
Well, I think when you say mismatch, I'm like he's a mismatch in terms of a good thing when he's catching the ball and a mismatch in a bad way that's detrimental to what he feels when he's blocking. But. Yeah. What were you gonna say?
Dan Fates
They are more predictable.
Jenna Cottrell
Yes.
Dan Fates
As we've talked about throughout this season, with Kincaid on the field and for a team that wants to be, wants at least keeping teams on their toes, Kincaid has been the one piece, like Micah said, that has been able to get down the middle of the field and, and get open.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
I think Josh at one point midway through the season, I think he had a perfect passer rating throwing to Kincaid this year, which was very funny because we all laughed when Kincaid struggles last year in his numbers and Josh being the leader, leader that he is, was like, yeah, it was like I gotta be better. And it's like he's been perfect this year. Like he can't be any better to. To Kincaid. So they both benefited this year. Knox has stepped up as of late, but like even Jackson Hawes has been able to. It's Jackson. You looked at me.
Mike Adalana
No, no, no. I was just reading a comment about Kincaid and Knox.
Jenna Cottrell
What?
Dan Fates
What?
Mike Adalana
Well, it said. I think it was Johnny who said folks are expecting Kincaid and Knox to look like Kelsey and Kittle. They are neither, but they can block. I think Kittle's definitely a better blocker than them.
Jenna Cottrell
Absolutely.
Mike Adalana
And probably Kelsey Kittle is one of.
Dan Fates
The best blocking tight ends in a long time. It's the fact of when they don't have a number one wide Receiver. They have kind of moneyballed the cobbled, cobbled it together, moneyball style of. Wait, we lost all these RBIs with these wide receivers and they're going well, we'll put a ball together with three tight ends. That's how we're going to build a.
Jenna Cottrell
Number one like this is.
Dan Fates
That's what they have. And credit to Joe Brady to making. Making it work at times, but that's going to be. And again, I think what's interesting is this cat and mouse game as we get more into the Jags, like talking about, okay, the Jaguar strength is passing, but the Bill's weakness is stopping the run. So will the Jags change and go to their secondary pitch or do they just keep throwing their 16 mile per hour fastball that's been working so well in Trevor Lawrence.
Jenna Cottrell
Yes. All right, we'll. We'll go to the Jags in a second. First, I do want to touch more on James Cook.
Mike Adalana
Right.
Jenna Cottrell
And obviously we also want to talk about the White Claw grab of the week. Our White Claw grab of the week going to James Cook as James Cook taking the NFL 2025 rushing title. 1100 something yards. I got it wrong on Twitter. Everyone was very mad at me, but he earned our White Claw grab of the week. White Claw reminds you to grab life by the claw. We are here to bring you the grab of the week. Game day isn't just about plays. It's about your crew, the stories and the moments you never forget. Grab your crew. Grab a pack. Grab life by the claw. James Cook.
Mike Adalana
My favorite part of the whole James Cook thing was the way the players reacted to watching Derrick Henry that night. And like, Sean was like, I'm watching the game. I mean, that tells you how much they really care about James Cook, too.
Dan Fates
Agree.
Mike Adalana
It is a big award.
Dan Fates
Jimbo.
Mike Adalana
Jimbo.
Dan Fates
Or. Or Jimmy.
Mike Adalana
We love Jimbo.
Dan Fates
Yes, they love Jimbo. Spencer Brown was calling him Jimmy. Really, really happy for Jimmy.
Jenna Cottrell
Jimmy.
Dan Fates
Yeah, I.
Mike Adalana
So they. They were all watching at home. Like, they get done. They're all watching and they're rooting for them. And the players talked about him before they left. And then what do you have 112 yards at halftime?
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
Like, it's also funny because a lot of times we ask players, like, if they watch the game, they're like, no, not really. And then for a moment like this, they were all like, yeah. Watched everything.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
And like, Spencer Brown was like, group text, wasn't very happy at, you know, at halftime and all this stuff. And then he goes you know, shout out to the Steelers defense. And I tweeted that out and a lot of people took that as the stray of thanks for letting James cook run for 144 yards against them. But it was the context was this them buckling down in the second half and allowing Derrick Henry only like 20 yards in the second half.
Mike Adalana
They did. And you know, so they were all watching. James was watching and he was like, yeah, I'm going to be watching because I talked to him after the game. He's like, yeah, I'm rooting for the Steelers. Like he ended up with 309 rushes, which is up considerably from a year ago. 1621 yards, 5.2 average, 12 touchdowns. I mean, fantastic year.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
A couple of shout outs to Rusty in the comments. Yeah, you've been real quick with the graphics. Great job. Josh Martin. Josh Martin, friend of the program. Also, Jace Stewart says, first time catching this live. Go Bills from Utah. So thanks for watching Jace.
Mike Adalana
Okay, so I got a one. I think it's one one. Connecticut Bills fan Gabe Davis's catch should have been the grab of the week or at least a runner up. Damn. What do you think?
Dan Fates
Yeah, runner up. He gets the.
Jenna Cottrell
He's doing it. He's literally doing exactly what we talked about.
Mike Adalana
When it doesn't go your way, you're.
Jenna Cottrell
Just like, oh, okay, it's a nice catch. Exactly. You're so good at this. You are so good at this.
Dan Fates
We'll give Jimbo the big can. Gabe will get the little can of white claws. Whatever you want. Yeah, White claws got them both. They have the big pounders and then they have just the normal size 12oz cans.
Jenna Cottrell
That was a nice catch.
Mike Adalana
It was a nice catch.
Dan Fates
It's cool. Yeah, it was nice catch, man.
Jenna Cottrell
That I actually do think you can take some confidence from for a Bills wide receiver.
Mike Adalana
Well, wait a minute. Shavers made that against the Eagles. Went up and got it. Brandon Cooks went up and got it. Hey, let me tell you something. I know they're not going to put up numbers, but it is good to see wide receivers. Bills making a play for Josh. Agreeing cat that case it wasn't Josh. But like going by the way, little shout out to Mitch. I know the jets are terrible. Nice to see him put up some numbers. Have a little fun.
Jenna Cottrell
I thought it was.
Mike Adalana
Yes, he got that nvp.
Dan Fates
Nickelodeon's most valuable.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh yes, I saw. Did he get slime?
Mike Adalana
Do you think he enjoyed that?
Dan Fates
I don't think so.
Jenna Cottrell
Would you enjoy that?
Mike Adalana
He was kind of like, okay, yeah, yeah, that. I mean. I mean, when Josh gets it, Josh gets every other award and he's like, oh, this is cool. But, like, Mitch gets his game, plays really well, and then it's like, you're the glue.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Slime.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. I don't know if he's thrilled with that.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
There was an earlier comment, and forgive me, I. I don't know where it went, but someone was saying. It was someone Gen X was in their handle saying that they're not scared by the Jags. And, Mike, what is your. Oh, Chris, Jen. Xer. Jags don't scare me at all. What are your thoughts on that?
Mike Adalana
I mean, scared. They are a very good team. And, you know, sometimes I think about teams based on the uniform and the name. Right.
Jenna Cottrell
Uniform heinous.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. I'm not big. Are they watching this?
Jenna Cottrell
I don't like Aqua personally.
Mike Adalana
It's not my favorite place to go to a game. Maybe it's gonna get clipped.
Dan Fates
Like, if the Jags win.
Mike Adalana
I don't want both. Plus, they beat the Bills there. We've seen it.
Dan Fates
It's ugly.
Mike Adalana
I've seen them beat him in the playoffs. Seen them in the 9, 6 game usually. I did see Rob Johnson get a win there as the quarterback of the Bills. I think if this Jags team, this exact Jags team, was the. Let's just say Baltimore Ravens. Right.
Dan Fates
Or Chiefs red.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
There was Chiefs helmet, if their logo was the Chiefs.
Mike Adalana
That's what I'm saying is if you thought of them differently, you'd be like, oh, this team's got this. They've got that look. They. What they do have is a lot of confidence. And sometimes with a team with young players and players who've been rejuvenated, like Trevor Lawrence and a new head coach, they're too happy and too naive sometimes to take on the pressure of the playoffs, and that could be a big positive for them. So. Afraid of them or scared of. No, but you better go play well early to let them know it's different in the playoffs.
Dan Fates
Correct. And you shouldn't be deceived by the uniform and the name. And you should go off what you're seeing on film. And the reason I say that is because that just happened in the College Football Playoff. That was Indiana stomped Alabama and Mike, did you see that? Kurt Signetti got asked, does you. Do your players understand the aura that pretty much Alabama has? And in the most polite way, he goes, they don't care about that.
Mike Adalana
They.
Dan Fates
They know what they see on film, which was a polite way of saying they're not that good. Like, yes, they are. In the Alabama helmet. They're going to come out. They're the roll, you know, Roll Tide. But we're a better football team. And it's hard to, it's hard to wrap your head around if you're a college football fan watching now that Indiana is good.
Mike Adalana
Right.
Dan Fates
The colors, the helmet, like the. None of that makes sense. But what they are is a really good football team. So you're trying to compartmentalize both of those things with the Jags because they're a red hot team. But they do have that kind of like stink of like the playoffs and, and, and their, their failures.
Jenna Cottrell
And that was the Bills for a while. That was the Bills for a long time. Yeah.
Mike Adalana
You know, it makes me think I just mentioned the Chiefs. The Chiefs were so good and so difficult to beat. But this year, I think when teams looked at the tape, they just did not see the same team. And I think you start to lose a little of that aura. And when you lose that Mike using aura.
Dan Fates
I know, it's weird.
Jenna Cottrell
I love it. No, I love it.
Mike Adalana
You start to lose a little of that. Right where you look at them like, oh, we're better than them. We can beat this team. And the Jags, I guess I look at it and go, I like watching their team. The times I've seen them, like, they look well coordinated on offense.
Dan Fates
They are coordinated.
Mike Adalana
They.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, no, they do.
Mike Adalana
They have three receivers who know their rules well, Roles well. I don't know if you know this, but they picked up a guy at the deadline. Dan, did you hear about that?
Dan Fates
Yes, I did.
Mike Adalana
Sean mentioned it 17 times so far. Yeah. That they picked up Jacoby Myers.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
Just throwing strays out there.
Mike Adalana
Do you think Jacoby Myers, he would have liked him on the Bills?
Dan Fates
I think so.
Jenna Cottrell
I think that would have been a good idea.
Dan Fates
Shout out to scumbag Brad. 25. Super tip. Really appreciate it. Love you guys. My girlfriend thinks I love you more than her, but she doesn't. She doesn't mind I'm at reading.
Jenna Cottrell
She doesn't put my mind at ease like you guys do moving into the playoffs. She doesn't understand. Keep it up. Stop. Not Dan's brother.
Mike Adalana
Oh, Phil is telling me. See all the kids are using aura as a, as a verb.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Oh, I see. I didn't know that.
Dan Fates
An emo. I've seen that now everywhere. Are you emo?
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. Emotional. If for those wondering also scumbag. Scumbag Brad, that was a good comment. We like that.
Dan Fates
Yeah. Appreciate it.
Mike Adalana
So I'm right up there with the kids now, huh?
Jenna Cottrell
Look at you.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
Aura forming.
Mike Adalana
So I do think, look, they're talented team, but I just think something is different in these games. We saw it a little bit with the Broncos. Now, Trevor Lawrence has more experience than Bo Nix did. Not all great experience, but I think he's one of those guys rejuvenated after a few years, and it's gone better for him. But we saw what happened with Bo Nix. Like, they came in, run down the field, touchdown, seven, nothing. Would the game end up 357 or whatever it was. And look, they are. They were a year away.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
And now this year, they're the number one seed. We'll see how they play. I'm not saying that's the Jags. I'm saying it could be the Jags, because it does change a lot when you get in the playoffs.
Jenna Cottrell
What do you think this is Liam Cohen's first playoff game as head coach of the Jags. Obviously had a fantastic season for Jacksonville. You know, Trevor Lawrence playing some of the best ball of his NFL career. You know, winning the AFC South. That matchup, though, in terms of head coach, this will be Sean McDermott's 15th playoff game. How beneficial is that? And, like, where. Where do you put that? Because you also talk about how for the Jags, that they're a little bit fresher in terms of not having as much experience. And maybe that's better because the pressure, they're not even even aware of it.
Mike Adalana
I think the advantage Sean has is not in. None of this is in X's and O's. Like, I think he's a really good play caller. Liam Cohen, they do a lot of things well. I think it's getting your team in the right mind frame of mind to play. And Dawson Knox talked to us about that, by the way, Josh said you did talk to James Cook. Yes, we did talk to Dawson Knox, too. You guys talked to Josh Allen? I did. I know. Isn't that something? But Dawson was like, yeah. They would tell me, like, you know, about the playoffs, and I'm a rookie, and I'm like, oh, this is great. Like, it's just like another thing, and it is different.
Dan Fates
And.
Mike Adalana
And I do think it's funny. People talk about the way the Bills have been in the playoffs, and then you look back at their history, and the majority of the things are very positive. They lost the three games to the Chiefs. I know you can't take them out. Those two of those Games were incredible games that they lost at the end. The one was the championship game at the beginning. But, you know, they beat the Colts, they beat the Ravens, they beat the Broncos, they beat the Ravens again. Like, they have a lot of quality wins. They beat the Dolphins, all those teams, and they are usually ready to play. I would say the worst case for the Bills to be ready to play was the Bengals game. And I know there was extenuating circumstances in that. The way that team was. That was really the only time I can think of where they came out.
Dan Fates
And it was like the AFC Championship game. They felt a little overmatched.
Mike Adalana
They did take the lead early in that one. I think they were a little overmatched in many ways. They were early, and then it was like, oh, we're in this game. We're ahead. And then it fell apart. But that was because the game itself, it was their third playoff game. They were a win away from the Super Bowl.
Dan Fates
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
And they weren't ready for that. Yep. But I think he'll have them ready. Liam Cohen may really have a great, you know, handle on his team. And they might come out great, but they might also come out way wound up. And then they. Then you hit a wall quickly. And that happens to teams in the playoffs, too.
Dan Fates
We talked about this in the video on Wednesday about practice and all that kind of stuff, and how much playoff experience is worth. Josh had, we thought, you know, really insightful answer when he talks about you, you know, what to how you're gonna feel. And then he says, you know, eventually turns into just a regular football game. But I think there's a reason that we always talk about Josh Allen shining bright when the lightest are. The lights are brightest. Like, I. I think there's something to that, that you rise up to the occasion that you're in. And I think that's something that the Bills can lean on and have that confidence in that. Hey, we've been here before. We've succeeded before. I know not. They haven't. Holy cow. Like, enough questions about, like, going into the wild card weekend. Does the super bowl still hang over your guys head? It's like Jags like, like, like, let's just win this game. And I thought Sean and Josh and everybody handled those questions as well as they could, but it's like, this is just one game. Like, then they're gonna go and try and handle the next one. But right now it's a good Jags team. There are people that are talking like, this is the winner of this game. Is probably going to represent the afc and that, you know, Ross Tucker, I thought had a really good line. It's like, it's unfortunate that these two teams play each other in the wild card round. Like this should be the AFC championship. Now that's getting ahead of yourself as well. But that's where they think of these two teams. Between the quarterback play, the coaching, all of these kind of things.
Mike Adalana
It's.
Dan Fates
It's not going to be. It's a big test.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. I love what Josh had to say about like, you know, the emotions of how you're going to feel. Because I feel like that is one of those things that sometimes people might make fun of me for how much I talk about emotions, but you can't take that out of the game. And especially in the playoffs when it is that much more pressure on teams and every drive feels that much more impactful and important and like the execution piece, I do feel like for the players you can are led by Josh Allen and what he does. And then also the fact that Sean McDermott does have so much more experience than Liam Coleman. I think Liam Coleman has had a phenomenal year, but I think those, it's those moments when it's, you know, that these could make or break your game plan. I think that the Bills have that to lean back on and that is that experience is just massive.
Mike Adalana
I want to come back to ask you about Liam KH and the way he coaches his team in a minute, but I was thinking of Josh in 2019 in Houston and I think his emotions got to him in that game and he was a young player in the playoffs. Scored that touchdown on the John Brown pass. He's doing the whole thing. Yeah, doing everything crazy. They were up what, 13 to nothing, then took a 16 to nothing lead in the second half.
Dan Fates
It was 16 nothing lead at halftime.
Mike Adalana
I think it was 13. Then they got the field goal to make it 16 to nothing regardless. They went up 16 to nothing and then it started to go, you know, then anyhow, I think Josh's emotions were all over the place.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. And then he was pressing too much and then it was. Yeah, I compounded and I'm just bringing.
Mike Adalana
That up because you're saying is younger, younger players are players without the experience. And that doesn't mean that's Trevor Lawrence. He's been in the league a little bit. He also had of the strangest experiences ever in the history of the NFL where he was the worst player I've ever seen play. I mean, sorry Nate, but Nate Peterman bad in the first half of that playoff game with the Chargers and then led his team back to a victory in the same game, which was incredible. But I don't know about the rest of the team. We'll see how they play.
Jenna Cottrell
I just do think for the head coach, though, like, now, everyone, everyone all season has been looking at you to make the decisions. And now in this biggest moment that you've been in so far, everyone's going to be looking at you. And it's just that different, different type of feel. And I know we joke about the emotions of it, but I do think that that can play a massive point in, like, being just a. A benefit for Buffalo.
Dan Fates
Yeah. Charles G. Comments in Bills are battle tested for big moments. If they take care of the ball, I don't think the Jags can win.
Mike Adalana
I just want you guys to read Charles.
Jenna Cottrell
That's great. That's a great comment. Oh, Mike can easily become an NFL.
Dan Fates
How are you able to comment in while on the show?
Jenna Cottrell
Mike, He's a football genius.
Dan Fates
That's.
Jenna Cottrell
Is that your burner?
Mike Adalana
Thank you. Oh, my burner would say some stuff.
Dan Fates
How do we get Dan to jump in the Jack Swim stadium pool? Gabe Davis multi touchdown game. That's a great. That's a really good comment.
Jenna Cottrell
That's so good.
Mike Adalana
Okay, if Gabe gets two touchdowns, you will jump in the pool.
Jenna Cottrell
Yes. Thousand p. Love it.
Dan Fates
How do I get there?
Mike Adalana
We'll figure out a way to get you. Come on. Two touchdowns.
Jenna Cottrell
Shake on it.
Mike Adalana
Yes.
Dan Fates
That'll be. That would be the open of the pod. Post game pod. I'll do the podcast. Wet. Just dripping wet.
Mike Adalana
Oh, my God. That would be the best.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, my God.
Dan Fates
All right, Josh, you're on.
Jenna Cottrell
They gotta win, though. They gotta win.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
It would be a shitty podcast. It's a parlay.
Mike Adalana
It's Gabe's.
Dan Fates
Two touchdowns and a win.
Mike Adalana
When has Gabe ever scored multiple times touchdowns in a game they lost.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, God.
Dan Fates
Stone cold Dan Austin. White Claws as you jump in.
Jenna Cottrell
That would be pretty good. What were you gonna ask me?
Dan Fates
Liam Cohen.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. What do you think of him and.
Dan Fates
How you spell his name?
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, it's C, O, E, N. Which for people that have to write it like us who do the graphics is annoying and frustrating. And I.
Mike Adalana
Because it looks wrong when you write.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, it does. But Dan's like, oh, that's how it's spelled. Dan doesn't know. I think he. He's 40 years old. Younger guy, comes from the. Sean, just get to the point. I. But I. He's a bit much he's very fiery and it can be a bit much. And you talked about it's almost Nick Sirianni esque, where it feels like it's very performative now, if that's who he is and his players know that and see that and appreciate that, it seems like they are all bought in on that. But. But to me, it almost seems like how like Mike McDaniel was. And then when it all went sideways, you're kind of like scratching your head. Like, I wish it was cold.
Mike Adalana
There's nothing behind it.
Jenna Cottrell
Exactly. And. And I'm not saying that Liam Cohen is that it. Just to me, it's just so a bit over the top that sometimes I'm.
Mike Adalana
Like, okay, like, he's gotten into it with other coaches.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. Just stuff like that.
Dan Fates
I don't mind it.
Jenna Cottrell
That's fine. But you liked Big Daniel. Like, that's just. But this is also, I feel like a reflection of our personalities. Like, I feel like you're a little.
Dan Fates
Bit more like, hey, be you with us.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, but that's you. But like, me, I'm not like that.
Mike Adalana
Dances. Be me everywhere. Yeah.
Dan Fates
Because he made the comment after they beat Denver and he's like, not bad for a small market team. Because.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. And like, I don't mind.
Dan Fates
Sean Payton said something about they're a good small market team.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
And like, I don't think Sean Payton meant any shade by it, but obviously Sean Payton probably.
Jenna Cottrell
Probably, yeah, Sean Payton probably did. But my thing, I don't mind Josh Allen saying we're the only team in New York, but I kind of. I don't. I don't want my head coach taking swipes.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. I think maybe he took a swipe.
Dan Fates
This week on what Rich Eisen like, oh, we're the underdog.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
And Rich is like, oh, I love it.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. I saw that and was like, okay.
Mike Adalana
I mean, you know, he's got that to play up. But I mean, getting into it with Robert Sal, by the way, there's a. Performative. Yeah. My God. For a team that gives up 25 points a game, I. I just can.
Jenna Cottrell
There are so many cutaways of him during a game. It's honestly unbelievable.
Dan Fates
Loves Robert Salah. Really like his story. They did like an E60. Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
He's a. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mike Adalana
I don't care.
Dan Fates
Just saying.
Mike Adalana
Yes. But it. In terms of. For Liam Cohen this year, it is working. I will give him this in a different way. It's a little Dan Campbell. Like, Dan Campbell has his way. You know, we started with the kneecaps and all this stuff.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
Scumbag. Brad, if Dan gets arrested for jumping in the pool, I'll help bail him out so we can cover the Super Bowl. Appreciate it, Brad. Appreciate it.
Mike Adalana
Dan Campbell started out with all that, the kneecaps and all the stuff, and he said a lot of stuff. And I think that is who Dan Campbell.
Jenna Cottrell
I think Dan Campbell is kind of goofy.
Mike Adalana
I say this all the time. If you are genuine, if that's who you are, the players will respect that. They. If you say to the players, like, Sean is Sean.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. Dad, Joke Friday.
Mike Adalana
Right. But he allows the players. He lets Dion be Dion.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
So if that is not who Sean McDermott is as a coach. Right. He's not going to be that way. If he did that, it would feel.
Jenna Cottrell
It would be weird.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. But he has shown a little bit of his personality.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
At times that he didn't do before. That's who Liam Cohen.
Jenna Cottrell
But it's never like. I don't know. Yeah, I hear you.
Mike Adalana
We've said it comes out in a different way with Sean. Like usually if something is mentioned about other coaches or something. Like the time it was mentioned that he couldn't beat Belichick.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, yeah.
Mike Adalana
And you knew he was mad about. And then he proceeded to destroy Belichick in the next game. He played him. Next two beat him. But. Yeah, it doesn't come out in the same way, but that's who he is. Different coaches do it different ways. Look at Andy Reid.
Jenna Cottrell
A thousand percent.
Mike Adalana
Right. I mean, Andy Reid is a very, you know, sort of buttoned up guy. And then he has a little fun with the players. Right.
Dan Fates
But he's tickle the tonsils.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. What was that?
Dan Fates
Yeah, that was a cheeseburgers. Stick to cheeseburgers, Andy, please, please.
Mike Adalana
Todd says when Dan Campbell played in Dallas in 03, had a weekly radio show and he was the same guy. That's cool. I like Dan Campbell because he also is taking a crappy franchise and trying to make them into something and teaching them to be that way. Maybe that's what Liam Cohen's trying to do.
Dan Fates
Dan Campbell's also very. It's funny because he looks like a dumb, macho jock that drinks the coffee and espresso. And he's very analytically driven and like. Like, that's.
Jenna Cottrell
But he's also very emotional.
Dan Fates
Exactly.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
He also needs two new coordinators.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. That's why he's emotional.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. Well, you know, and he says things like, not to go off on Dan Campbell because I like him. But he said when they lost that championship game, I was rooting so hard for them in that game.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, yeah.
Mike Adalana
And he said, maybe this is as close as we ever get.
Jenna Cottrell
I know when he said.
Mike Adalana
I know that was his emotion saying that, but who knows what ends up happening with him. So by the way, this leads us to Sean McDermott.
Jenna Cottrell
I was about to say this a perfect segue. Just.
Mike Adalana
Okay.
Jenna Cottrell
So, okay.
Mike Adalana
He's not getting fired if they lose the game.
Dan Fates
He is not.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. Colin Coward.
Dan Fates
John Harbaugh is not coming to Buffalo.
Mike Adalana
Oh, my God. Listen, John Harbaugh has been a really good head coach for that team. If your goal is to go farther, beat the Chiefs, beat the Ravens. Well, John Harbaugh doesn't beat the Chiefs and doesn't beat the Bills.
Dan Fates
Correct.
Mike Adalana
And blows second half leads and isn't.
Dan Fates
An offensive guy and we're a defensive guy.
Mike Adalana
I mean, I think he'll do well going to help rebuild the team. I think he's got that.
Dan Fates
But he's a perfect fit for the Giants.
Mike Adalana
Giants or the Dolphins.
Jenna Cottrell
I could see that as well.
Dan Fates
Let's just see him as one of those like legacy.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. Well, yeah. Because the Giants always make good decisions.
Jenna Cottrell
But I do think he has, he does have obviously a ton of experience. He is a veteran guy. He can build a culture.
Mike Adalana
Hey, experienced veteran guys, that's the stuff's overrated sometimes. Those guys don't know anything.
Dan Fates
Oh, it's a shot at you.
Mike Adalana
I'm make take a shot at myself.
Dan Fates
Oh, self deprecating, Mike.
Mike Adalana
I like it. Yeah. Do you know what that's like?
Dan Fates
I'm. I'm always self deprecating. I can laugh at myself.
Jenna Cottrell
You can laugh at yourself. You also can pat yourself on the.
Dan Fates
Back better than anybody. I can weasel in and out of takes better than anybody. This Jag team. What I'm most interested. I don't know about you guys for this game. I'm most intrigued by this number one rushing defense against the number one rushing offense. It is what I'm most intrigued about. We saw earlier in the year and it's what I've said Before and Booger McFarland has said this on ESPN that stats are like bikinis. They show you some things but not all things. I think that context. I don't know. Look, they have a really good defensive line with Travion Walker and Eric Armstead who I completely forgot was there because that was another guy that the Bills. I think Rossini actually tweeted that Eric Armstead was signing with the Bills. I Think that was one of those ones.
Mike Adalana
Oh, yeah.
Dan Fates
And then it was like, oh, just kidding. It's Jacksonville.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
And obviously with Josh Allen, Heinz Allen, they have a really good D line. I saw it too. Like, they don't get after the quarterback much. Right.
Mike Adalana
I think they have 32 sacks.
Dan Fates
Right. Not great SEC numbers. But then I saw that, like, their quarterback pressures are very high. And it's like, okay. And again, we have said, like, not all pressures are created equal. Like, what, what? There's no next gen and all of the stats. Like, there's not a generic way to grade players and plays in football. So personally, I think the Bills run the ball down their throats. I think James Cook goes for 100 yards. The Jags haven't allowed a 70A rushing running back to run for 75 yards this season. Some of that to put into context, too. It's kind of why people talk about, like, the Bills have the number one rated pass defense. Well, that's because a lot of teams run the ball on them.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
And they have success running the ball against them.
Mike Adalana
Yes.
Dan Fates
Also, the Bills have trailed a lot of. So teams are running the ball against them more. The Jags have been out in front more. They have led a lot of games. So when they get up to 14, 17, 21 point leads, teams stop running the ball because of the way the game script has gone. I think if the Bills. I really do think that there are a couple of times this year where, like, the Bills have shown. Now, they haven't done it every week, but they have shown the ability that when they want to play volleyball against Pittsburgh, against Carolina, against some of these teams, they can run the ball down your throat and it doesn't really matter what you do. And they've done it against good defensive lines. I thought they ran pretty successfully against the Eagles.
Mike Adalana
Like, yeah, I mean, I. That wasn't really what their strength was in that game, but they have. They have run it well and they. I do think it opens up whatever they're going to do in the passing game. They need some ability to do that. I'm also curious about the game plan from the Bills. And look, there's only so much Joe Brady's going to be able to do with the wide receivers that he has. But I'm wondering if. I'm not saying somebody was asking in the chat that about did the Bills hold anything back? I don't think you're holding stuff back. Maybe there is elements to your offense that you would do a little differently.
Dan Fates
Meaning, like, I don't think the jets.
Mike Adalana
In general for this season.
Dan Fates
Oh, oh, sorry.
Mike Adalana
No, against the jets, like. Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
I mean, seriously, didn't have to hold back anything.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. But I do think there is opportunities maybe to get Josh under center more. I think that can work. I think, you know, we always know about play action and the ability to do that. I also wonder how aggressive. Look, Sean's been pretty aggressive this season, Dan. What do you. How aggressive do you think he'll be on? I'm talking about fourth downs, I'm talking about field goals for touchdowns. I'm talking about this type of game. It's kind of fascinating to me. I don't think of the Jags as putting up 40 on you, but I do think they can maintain the ball, move down the field. They're good on third down, all those things. I'm curious as to how aggressive he is because I think you're going to go down swinging with Josh Allen in this game. And if I was him, especially with the field goal kicker they have on the other side.
Jenna Cottrell
That's why I feel like you would.
Mike Adalana
Be aggressive aggressive because, you know, you kick a field goal, kick it back to him at the 35, they got to make like two plays and they're in field goal range again.
Dan Fates
He was really bad and passive in Houston.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. Early in that game.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Was few times they punted the ball and I think they should have bad scenarios. Yeah.
Dan Fates
After that, I think he had a punt two in the Cincinnati game that.
Mike Adalana
I questioned early in the game. Yep.
Dan Fates
But again, that was conditions, weather, all those kind of things. Besides that, he's been pretty by the book aggressive.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
One of the most aggressive coaches for everybody that says Sean's this defensive minded coach. It's just not accurate. So. Yeah. I wonder. Fourth and one early on in the game at your 40. Are you going for it? And I saw some comments saying that Josh has got to run and all these things. Who knows where his foot is. I mean, I know it's at the end of his leg, but like.
Jenna Cottrell
You.
Dan Fates
Didn'T see that one coming.
Jenna Cottrell
I actually didn't. That cracks me up.
Dan Fates
I think it's still there, but I just.
Mike Adalana
Oh, he's gonna run. He's. He's.
Jenna Cottrell
No, but Dan is talking about he hasn't played. He didn't play last week. Obviously that Eagles.
Dan Fates
Obviously that Eagles fourth down attempt when he really went in gingerly and got stopped at the one, I was like, I don't know how much that. Yeah, that foot must be because. And I know it's just week 17 and all that stuff. But there was still a lot on the line there, and it was like I expected him to go John Elway.
Mike Adalana
Into the end zone, and he didn't.
Dan Fates
Now, he had some tush pushes at the end that got him in. But where is the health of his foot ankle? Like I said, there's no fractures. That doesn't mean there's not a sprain. That doesn't mean there's not stuff like that. So I guess that's my. My question mark, because that feels like the one thing that. When they started playing better after, you know, the Pittsburgh game, when they. When he ran it quite a bit, I was like, oh, this offense. Like, that's the extra gear that this offense has. It's Josh Allen's legs. And I just feel like he didn't do it much in the Eagles game or the Cleveland game.
Mike Adalana
So concerned about injuries that they ran the tush push at the end of the game. How.
Jenna Cottrell
How about that? Interesting. Michael.
Dan Fates
That's. That's bitter Eagles fan.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Dan Fates
You guys don't even run the tush push.
Mike Adalana
They don't even run it.
Dan Fates
They're not good at it.
Mike Adalana
No, they're not crazy. It was a secret play that nobody could do, and they wanted to ban, so.
Jenna Cottrell
Scumbag Brad has a super tip. If we see a screen pass for a loss again, I'm gonna jump in the pool.
Mike Adalana
Yes.
Dan Fates
We're coming up with a T shirt idea. You know these things that say, like, anti.
Mike Adalana
Right.
Dan Fates
You know all these shirts. We're going to make a shirt that says anti screen pass.
Mike Adalana
That's it.
Dan Fates
Sell it on the Buffalo Plush shirt.
Mike Adalana
Can we come up with something better?
Dan Fates
It's just that simple. You've seen, like, what do the shirts say? Like, anti racism and anti. All these things. It just says anti screen pass.
Jenna Cottrell
Anti bubble social.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, I like anti bubble screen.
Dan Fates
That's anti bubble screen.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, that's. That's good.
Mike Adalana
Pop bubble screen. How about that?
Jenna Cottrell
No, it just.
Dan Fates
How bad was that, Rusty? We had a shrug from the director.
Jenna Cottrell
Okay. What else should we talk about? There was something else on the tip of my tongue. Oh. In terms of. You talk about how the Bills plan should be in terms of running the ball a bunch. What do you expect the Jags playing attack to be? Because we've talked to Brent Martino.
Mike Adalana
Yep.
Jenna Cottrell
From Action Jacks News. Action Jacks.
Mike Adalana
Sports.
Jenna Cottrell
Sports. And he was talking. He was talking.
Dan Fates
I'm Ron Burgundy.
Jenna Cottrell
I'm Ron Burgundy. He was talking about maybe their plan will be because the Bills Run defense has struggled this season is to try and run with ETN and have that be their plan of attack. But what do you think you expect to see from Jacksonville?
Mike Adalana
If I'm Jacksonville, I. I test the Bills run defense right away. Doesn't mean they stick with it. I would test them. I would say, look, if we can get yards in the run game and then add to the passing game, I think it's a little harder to go the other way. You come out throwing if it's not working and now you're going to go to the running game, maybe it would be. I think they test the Bill's defense and they say, all right, let's see what they can do. Especially, you know, how this happens. If the Bills are not making plays in the run game, you start bringing the safeties up, that starts adding to it. I'm a little concerned of not having Max in this game, and I know he's the third guy, but it'd be nice to have that speed to help the Bills defense or Jamarcus Ingram. Tell us about that, Sean.
Dan Fates
Be nice to have that.
Mike Adalana
That other corner because the. I don't know if you know, but the Jags picked up a corner at the deadline. Guy from Cleveland. He's doing pretty well.
Dan Fates
What's Darius Slay up to these days?
Jenna Cottrell
He's non Western New York.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. And Jamarcus Ingram's in Houston, right?
Dan Fates
Yes.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Yeah. So Dane Jackson's gonna be in the game probably, Right. Or at least he has a chance to be in the game.
Jenna Cottrell
He has a chance. Yeah.
Mike Adalana
To be in the game. But I'm thinking in terms of. I like that speed on the field. Look, I. You guys know I love Brian Thomas as a receiver. It wasn't working the way it did last year. They are using him on that opposite side to bolt down the field. He is fast. He brings. A lot of times they bring safety help over to him.
Dan Fates
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
And that is big because Parker Washington has hurt people over the middle.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
And Jacoby Myers makes his plays. So do they. Do they try to run the ball early and see what the Bill's defense is made of?
Jenna Cottrell
I do feel like it's. You can run the ball early, then go to passing. It's harder to set up the running if you start out passing.
Mike Adalana
If you don't have success. Right.
Jenna Cottrell
Yes. Yeah, I do. I do agree with that. And it makes sense you're going to.
Mike Adalana
Try and see Shaq was limited. I don't think Bernard is playing.
Jenna Cottrell
He did not practice.
Mike Adalana
Did not practice. Sha Was limited.
Jenna Cottrell
Again with the neck, which concerns me. The neck is not.
Mike Adalana
This is why I say I. People are like, oh, I don't care if Bernard plays. You would care if Shaq can't stay in the game. That happened the other, you know, in the game in Cleveland. Yeah.
Dan Fates
You don't want Joe Andreessen. Well, this is what ends up 45.
Mike Adalana
Snaps and you got. And you, you know, you got Milano and Dorian. That's great. But, you know, that guy in the middle is important. So look, if I'm, if I'm them, I think I do test the Bills run defense early. I don't know what their exact plan. Obviously, if I knew it, the Bills.
Dan Fates
I know we've talked about it, you know, throughout the season. It's crazy. And I know that playoff Josh can put on the cave. I, I, I seem at times to have, like, I have faith in this defense, the way that they play. I think they're. I think they have figured some things out since Thanksgiving. I think they have figured some things out.
Jenna Cottrell
I see that, too.
Mike Adalana
Isn't it wild? When we look at their stats now, you would look at their numbers, and they can give you all the nerd numbers and all the old numbers, whatever they are. Bad run defense, number one pass defense.
Dan Fates
Yeah. It makes no sense.
Mike Adalana
I mean, I think they are very competent in the past defense. I think sure. Structurally play well. Talk a little bit about Trey.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, his.
Mike Adalana
You got to talk to him.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, I did. To sit down with him, which I'm gonna talk to Trey. I'm putting together a story. His interview was awesome. I mean, I asked maybe, like four questions, and his experience just, you know, was drafted by the bills in 2017, Sha McDermit's first pick, and then to have his ACL tear and then his Achilles to be cut by Buffalo, then, you know, signs with the Rams, then gets traded to the Ravens, then makes his way back to Buffalo. And his story and just how much work he's put in. To see him playing the way he is now, it was really cool. And he said, I'm. I'm proud of myself.
Mike Adalana
That was the one. That was the thing. Because what we all thought, I think even maybe what the Bills thought, they brought him back. They loved the guy, by the way. Won the good guy media award.
Jenna Cottrell
He did, yes.
Dan Fates
Also, by the way, Rusty, take Jenna's one shot. Need you to slouch a little bit.
Jenna Cottrell
You heard it here.
Dan Fates
Need you to slouch a little bit. There you go.
Jenna Cottrell
Honestly, my back hurts.
Mike Adalana
You're an incredible Slouch.
Jenna Cottrell
Keeping my posture like this for so long.
Mike Adalana
But he has played better. I'm gonna say this. I don't. They won't say it.
Dan Fates
This may be the. Okay, so we gotta set this.
Jenna Cottrell
Pops Mafia. We gotta. How many sacks does Rousseau need to get Mike to jump in the pool?
Mike Adalana
Three sacks, because he would be up to 10 on the year.
Dan Fates
Yeah, three.
Mike Adalana
I'm. I'm joining you if he gets three.
Jenna Cottrell
Shake.
Mike Adalana
Oh, my gosh. Why not?
Dan Fates
Could you imagine? Craig has three and a half sacks and Gabe has two touchdowns at 100 yards.
Mike Adalana
Oh, they gotta win, though.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Believe me, if that happens, I think they're winning.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, I would imagine.
Mike Adalana
Wait a minute.
Dan Fates
If both happens, Jenna jumps in the pool.
Mike Adalana
What have we determined for you to jump in?
Jenna Cottrell
I'm not jumping in a pool. I'm not jumping in a pool.
Mike Adalana
Why not?
Dan Fates
This is PG entertainment.
Jenna Cottrell
Because I'm not jumping in a pool.
Dan Fates
Shakir catches three.
Jenna Cottrell
Three touchdowns, three touchdowns. You're sure?
Dan Fates
All right, all right.
Mike Adalana
So what ends up happening is Shakira gets three. Greg does nothing. Gabe does nothing.
Dan Fates
So for all of us to jump in the pool, the Bill's got to score, like, 40 points and just destroy the.
Mike Adalana
Jack's office.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, my gosh. Yeah, there's a cold front coming through, Jack.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, it's gonna be 68 degrees.
Dan Fates
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Now. It'll be fine.
Jenna Cottrell
That is really funny, but when we.
Mike Adalana
Were saying about Trey, how he exceeded. I think he worked at it. Exceeded his own. I won't say expectations. I think he thinks highly. But the man is played. He's been out on the field a ton.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
And I think there's hope that Max becomes the guy. Trey wasn't giving that up for anything and played really well. And I thought he was a more physical player this year. I thought he made more plays in the run game.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Became better in the. Like, the interception he had against New England. Yep. Was a great play.
Jenna Cottrell
It was a great play.
Mike Adalana
And I have. I have a lot more faith in Trey in games than I did at the beginning of the year. I don't know what he's. What's left.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
He's only 30.
Jenna Cottrell
It is crazy to think that he's 30 years old. But just talking to him, I mean, some guys. The ACL is a career ender or the Achilles injury isn't a career ender. To have two in the span of essentially four years is unbelievable. To see the level of play he's at now. And he. He earned it.
Mike Adalana
Buff dad says we have to have video. It's cannonballs or it doesn't count.
Jenna Cottrell
I would never. Yeah.
Dan Fates
Our Picasso's player of the week.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah. Player of the week, Rusty.
Dan Fates
Thank you.
Jenna Cottrell
I was gonna get there. By the way, Picasso's player of the week.
Dan Fates
Didn't want an assist.
Mike Adalana
Hey, come on. You're already slouched. You're doing your job.
Jenna Cottrell
No, I was told to slouch. All right, for your fuel for your game day, Buffalo's most flav flavorful pizza. Picasso, from tailgates to the couch, we've got you covered with four Buffalo locations and nationwide shipping order. Now, Picasso pizza dot net. All right, in terms of your Picasso player of the week, looking ahead to the Bills against Jacksonville and wild card round. Michael, who is your pick?
Dan Fates
Don't do it.
Mike Adalana
No, no, I'm not going to do that. I am going to say Cole Bishop. Big play in the secondary. Comes up with a big play. May not be total stats.
Dan Fates
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Big, big play for this team. Late. I'm gonna go Cole Bishop.
Jenna Cottrell
Cole Bishop. I like that. What about you?
Dan Fates
Brandon Cooks catches a deep ball. I have done a 180 on Brandon Cooks. Because then I started. I was looking at it. I was being a little Buffalo negative about Brandon Cooks can't catch a football.
Mike Adalana
It would be Buffalo minus. Yes.
Jenna Cottrell
He was never gonna get there. Yep.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
We're Buffalo minus. That is amazing.
Dan Fates
Yeah. That was my best one. Is it?
Mike Adalana
No.
Jenna Cottrell
You were never gonna. Yeah. Okay. What were you gonna say?
Mike Adalana
Welcome back to Buffalo. Positive. Dang.
Dan Fates
Yep, that's it. I was looking at it. Glass half empty. That he was dropping those passes. Glass half full was. At least he was getting open. He was just. Then he remembered to catch the football.
Mike Adalana
So weird.
Jenna Cottrell
You gotta spin zone this.
Dan Fates
Yeah, I was just saying, like.
Mike Adalana
And then he made a couple of really nice plays. He got deep against the Eagles.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Really good. Like I said, they made a play. Yep. Like, that's what you need.
Dan Fates
I think he makes what is 25 plus yard catch.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Dan Fates
In this game.
Jenna Cottrell
That's what I'll call defense. Would love to see that.
Mike Adalana
All right.
Jenna Cottrell
My guy is Joey Bosa. I just feel like for the Bills, getting after Trevor Lawrence will be important. Obviously, Bosa hadn't been playing as much.
Mike Adalana
Second on the team in sacks this year.
Jenna Cottrell
Yes, he is behind Greg Russo in terms of the sacks. But Joey Bosa, I think getting some pressure on Trevor Lawrence and just getting in the face of him, I think will be. Well, good. I'm. I'm honestly so curious to see how Trevor Lawrence will play in this game because he's been playing such great football as of late.
Mike Adalana
This is what they signed Joey Bosa for, for these games, right?
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
I mean, he's made some plays for them. He's been good. It may be just a play, it may be two play. You know what I mean?
Dan Fates
Maybe knocking a ball, you know, tipping a ball at the line.
Mike Adalana
Right.
Dan Fates
That he's done a really.
Mike Adalana
We did against New England.
Dan Fates
Yep.
Mike Adalana
Late in that game.
Dan Fates
Yep.
Mike Adalana
You know, and so this is what you brought him in for. You paid him 16 million bucks. He's been a good player. He's full participant in practice. Let's go. You know, so let's see what happens.
Jenna Cottrell
You think the Jags are overconfident?
Mike Adalana
Like I said, I think they are new to this. I think they're having a ball. I think they take the field as a very confident team. I just think that the playoffs are different. They can say what they want. A lot of the players say it and then they realize it once they're playing. And I think it can be different for them. And I think the Bills will stay a little more even keel and, you know, we'll see. I mean, again, sometimes, like I said, they're too young, don't know. And they just play without.
Jenna Cottrell
Well, like worry about. I saw this tweet from Alessandra Pont Brand. Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence versus Buffalo. Their scheme has been very similar for a lot of years. I say, you know what you're going to get, but they disguise like little stuff like that that sometimes. I don't think Trevor Lawrence meant anything by that. But just if you're. If I were Bill's coach, I would show this to the defense and be like, yeah, says, you know what you're gonna get. Like just in terms of like those little, little things that can motivate a team.
Dan Fates
I agree. And I think they've been predictable at times. Limited, especially the se. Like since Poyer and Hyde left. You know, we talked about last year like with just with demar and Cole and demar and Taylor rap. I think Cole Bishop allows them to be more diverse.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, they.
Dan Fates
That allows Benford to blitz more. That allows Taran to blitz more. They're allowed. I think they've done a much better job of disguising like they said in. Like they did in the second half against New England. They threw something different every single third down against Drake May in that second half and confused them. I think that's what you're going to see. You're, you know, like I said, Trevor Lawrence playing at a really high level. Still a young quarterback.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
I also, you know, Shaq was limited, but I think he'll be all right. I'm excited for him.
Dan Fates
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
With the injuries he's put up with and here he is coming to the Bills.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
He's going to start. And I'm excited for Poyer because when he. Remember when he signed.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Remember when he signed who?
Jenna Cottrell
Jordan Poyer.
Mike Adalana
Who. Yeah.
Dan Fates
Was not. Yeah, I, I also owned up to that hand up. I said it in the Atlanta game. Why not put him in with how bad this defense was. And he's been great.
Mike Adalana
Sat out. I mean, get him healthy.
Dan Fates
Yep.
Mike Adalana
And. And I think he's going to. I think this guy appreciates every moment he's on the field because he actually had to play in Miami. By the way, we didn't even mention about them firing Mike McDaniel.
Jenna Cottrell
Kind of now we just did.
Mike Adalana
Well, I'm saying is.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Just because I mentioned him in Miami and that in coming back and then working his way back onto the field and I, I think that, you know, a guy like, he's been a lot of massive games.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah.
Mike Adalana
Big games. And so those guys I think will have this defense to dance point. Maybe better than their numbers show.
Dan Fates
Good point here from Jose Baez says, does Josh have to be perfect for the Bills to win?
Jenna Cottrell
Also I wanted to get a quote really fast or a comment Becky saying break their will.
Dan Fates
Yes.
Jenna Cottrell
Figured you would enjoy that.
Dan Fates
But does Josh have to play perfect. Perfect for the Bills to win? Yes.
Jenna Cottrell
I don't know about perfect. This is a good comment from Rocky Mountain High. All four Jags losses came against great QBs and none of them is great as Josh. It's an interesting point. Yeah.
Dan Fates
They played six backup quarterbacks during their eight game win streak. Jenna's overly confident. I'm fairly confident. I'm pretty confident. I'm betting the Bills, betting the under betting Brandon Cooks over. James Cook's over.
Mike Adalana
You're betting the Bills but not to cover.
Dan Fates
Yeah, I know. That was weird. That my prediction is weird by one point. So like do what I think happens. Like when I map this out in my head. It's 24:20. Jags are driving Joey Bosa sack on third down. That puts him at like the 35. So they kick the field goal. The Bills get the ball back with three minutes and run out the clock. So that's how I got 24, 23.
Mike Adalana
Were they at their own 35 when this guy came?
Jenna Cottrell
I would say I was like, yeah, that is One thing, though. That Cam Little is really good.
Mike Adalana
Yeah, I mean, 67, 68 yards. He's made field goals. So crazy playoff pressure.
Dan Fates
Yeah, that Tyler Loop guy made a bunch of field goals, too. Yeah, and then he didn't. Jenna called that.
Jenna Cottrell
I did. I saw it.
Mike Adalana
That's it.
Jenna Cottrell
Okay. All right. That'll. Oh, our picks.
Dan Fates
Yeah, I just said mine.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
Okay.
Mike Adalana
24 bills by three.
Jenna Cottrell
I didn't do those. Rusty. I'm sorry. It's not Rusty's fault. That's mine. Totally forgot about it. Dan had the bills winning 24. 23. I have the bills winning 30. 27.
Mike Adalana
And I have them 27. 24.
Jenna Cottrell
Okay, so we all have the bills moving 24 under.
Dan Fates
You have an over 51 and a half.
Mike Adalana
Oh, I have them 27 and a half. 24. By the way, we will be live on the field. So we're in the studio. We'll be on the field in Jacksonville Sunday morning. Yes, Sunday morning at 11am from 11am to 11:30, we will be live on the field talking to you guys and whatever you'd like to talk about. Should be fun. Looking forward to going down there. Even though it's my least favorite NFL city.
Jenna Cottrell
It's not that bad.
Dan Fates
It's bad.
Jenna Cottrell
It's not that bad.
Dan Fates
It's bad.
Jenna Cottrell
It's really not.
Dan Fates
It's bad.
Jenna Cottrell
Whiners.
Mike Adalana
Which one is your less favorite?
Jenna Cottrell
My least favorite?
Dan Fates
Less favorite.
Mike Adalana
Well, God, that was like one of.
Jenna Cottrell
Us in terms of like, stadium. And I. I don't.
Mike Adalana
They got the combo there. Now there's a bunch of construction.
Jenna Cottrell
Hear me out. The stadium wise. I hate MetLife.
Mike Adalana
Oh, so do I.
Jenna Cottrell
It's awful. It's the worst in my opinion. Obviously, New York is great.
Mike Adalana
It's a. It's a new commander. Oh, that's. That's not even. That might be the worst.
Dan Fates
That might be the worst.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
Trying to think of other.
Dan Fates
But like, you could be. Where did we stay when we were in Washington?
Mike Adalana
It wasn't a good call on my part. Wasn't a great hotel.
Dan Fates
But it was. That wasn't as bad as like, where we'll be in Jacksonville is just strip malls.
Jenna Cottrell
And I like this comment from Lindsay. No such thing as an ugly win in the playoffs.
Mike Adalana
No, absolutely.
Jenna Cottrell
3130 Bills win. I like that. Lindsay, what were you saying?
Dan Fates
Jacksonville stinks.
Jenna Cottrell
It's fine. It's fine.
Mike Adalana
No, it smells like coffee.
Dan Fates
The stadium.
Mike Adalana
Oh, because you're a Maxwell House. I think factory right there.
Jenna Cottrell
That's not bad.
Mike Adalana
No, I like that smell. Yeah. Yeah, it's good.
Dan Fates
I'm gonna try and get the Jags statue to jump off sides.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, my God. That's a good reel. That's really funny. I don't think I'll do that. Jacksonville is not bad. I. I don't think it's that bad of a place.
Mike Adalana
It's.
Jenna Cottrell
It's fine. It's fine.
Mike Adalana
It's. I'd say my top 32 of NFL cities.
Jenna Cottrell
So there's that. All right. For Mike and Dan and Rusty, I'm Jenna. Please be sure to, like, comment, subscribe. Like, comment, subscribe and share.
Mike Adalana
By the way, Tony KORNHEISER for the 2004 Super bowl, when it was in Jacksonville, you know, ESPN Tony Korniser called it Buffalo by the Sea, which is so hilarious, and I appreciate it. And the people in Jacksonville were not happy. Tells you that. They're like, oh, Buffalo by the Sea. But come on, that's kind of funny.
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, that is kind of fun funny. Okay, that'll do it for us. Thank you for watching Buffalo plus, please be sure. Again, like, comment, subscribe and share. We will catch you on.
Mike Adalana
That's right. I said there aren't 32 NFL cities. That's right. There's only. What is there? 30?
Jenna Cottrell
Yeah, because two in LA and then.
Mike Adalana
And two in New York.
Jenna Cottrell
That's really funny.
Dan Fates
So there's their 20.
Mike Adalana
And Cleveland doesn't count. I'm just kidding. Sorry. Cleveland. No.
Jenna Cottrell
Oh, it'd be two.
Mike Adalana
Do the two in Jersey really count?
Jenna Cottrell
I just hate that stadium, so.
Mike Adalana
Yeah.
Jenna Cottrell
And it's so ugly.
Dan Fates
Yeah, that's the worst.
Jenna Cottrell
All right, thanks. Bye.
