And I would like to officially welcome you. We would. To team run game. Thank you for joining the team.
B
Let that sl. Just let it simmer. You don't have to say anything. Just let it. Let it settle in.

Look at that mind. He's ready.
A
How can I twist my way out of this?
B
It can when it's reliable and effective.
A
Hey, wait a second. I've been team effective run game.
C
Okay. Oh, we wanted to be an ineffective run game.
B
Yeah, no, that's what I was actually hoping.
C
I will say I knew I could.
A
Get myself out of this. This is the Buffalo plus podcast brought to you by Connors and Ferris.
B
All right, welcome Back to the Buffalo Plus YouTube channel. The podcast presented by Connors and Ferris. Mike Catalana, Dan Fates. I'm am Jenna Cottrell. Please be sure to like comment, subscribe and share. Happy Halloween to everyone. We are recording this early on Thursday because it's Halloween and Dan wants to be with his fam. Trick or treating. I can't wait to see.
A
Yeah, this wasn't. This was my idea. But you were very excited to hand out candy.
B
Oh yeah. No, I'm not like throwing shade on you. I'm saying I don't have children. But I get so excited to see everyone in their clothes and all their costumes. A little kiddos. So I get.
C
I'm going to go home to see how many kids we get. Help my wife with this. We moved literally 150 yards from the old house. She's like, I, I don't think where we are now. We're going to get as many people.
A
You can throw a baseball to your old house.
C
The Yankees cannot.
A
Correct.
C
But other people can. But. And I think I said the same. Kids are going to walk and it's going to be 80 degrees. So. Or whatever. So.
B
Yes, yes.
C
I'm Excited, too. It'll be fun.
B
All right, let's talk a little. Bills 6 and 2 heading into their meeting with the Dolphins on Sunday at home. The Bills have a really nice lead in the division, Mike. I mean, they're in a great spot right now.
C
Absolutely. They're in control. They can, they can't clinch it. I had a guy asked me this morning, can they clinch the division this week? I go, no, they can't clinch it. But for all intents and purposes, they win and get a little help there. It's. It's going to be tough for anybody else, but even more importantly, I think they are finding that identity. I think that offense is good, it's multiple, and I think it's going to get better. And I think the defense is good. And when it's healthy, knock on wood. You know, the mentions of Milano and all those things that can happen down the line. Dan says it all the time. McDermott's coach in top 10 defenses, this one is. Has the potential to be really good.
A
When you said that when they're healthy, they're, they're a really good defense, they're an elite defense. When they're really healthy, even when they're not healthy, they're still a top tier defense. So I know they were asked this week a couple times about where they see themselves in the division, and obviously, as you can imagine, they're not saying anything. It's, we take it one game at a time. It's also the fact of it's a good head start. Like for a lot of the games, they've had to play catch up. They don't have to play catch up in the division right now. I think that's a huge boost. And to your point, I was listening to Chris Long's podcast and he was talking about the Eagles.
B
Eagles.
A
And the fact of what I thought really clicked with me because we've talked about the physicality of this team and how they're built and with the wide receivers and kind of piecing it all together. He talked about how the power sets up their speed, the fact that if they run the ball well, that opens up everything for everybody else. And when Sean won't say it, you kind of read between the lines. This offensive line has been really good and the running backs have been good and that has set up everything else. And Mike's giving me this look that I'm very concerned about.
C
A year and a half or so ago, I would say multiple times, Dan, they need to run the ball because you need to be Physical in the NFL. You have now come over to team running the ball. You have.
B
You. You just, you just said Sean wants.
C
This team to be physical. You cannot be a physical team without being able to run the football. Yes. You can run everybody over on defense. The league has changed. This team sets a tone. They can set a tone offensively with the physical brand of football.
A
I agree.
C
You need it. They have lacked it. He has wanted to do this. He wanted m. He wanted DL to change, but they were. They were rolling, passing the ball. He certainly wanted Dorsey to change and they fired him. And Joe Brady has come in embracing that. Big credit to Aaron Cromer of what he's done with the O line. This is where I was talking about you. You sloughed it off before.
A
No, because I don't automatically associate being a physical team with running the ball.
C
I do.
B
Oh, I do.
A
I think you can be a physical team that doesn't rely on running the ball. I think you can be a physical team. We saw that with how the wide receivers played even the last few weeks, physical run after catch. Like, I think physicality is a mindset. It's controlling the line of scrimmage and it's not necessarily 100% running the ball.
B
I agree. I don't think it has to be all or nothing in terms of running the ball, but I do like the physical identity that this team has taken on because I. You see how much it impacts also the passing game. You see what that does for this team. And Mike and I have always talked about how being two dimensional is so important in the NFL because if, if your fastball isn't working. I mean, Brandon Bean always talked about the wide receivers. Those are the fastballs. Josh Allen's the fastball. Okay. If that's not working and there's going to be moments where you. You are going to have that situation. Can you rely on the run game? Obviously, we've seen that. And I think that's also how you win games in January.
A
Yep.
B
And, and, and maybe February.
A
And just to prove my point a little bit more, I think. Well, no, no, no. Like to explain, to explain myself, that there can be separation between.
C
By the way, I have an example of your point. So you go ahead. When you're done.
A
We may make the same point.
C
Okay, maybe, but go ahead. Go ahead.
A
The Miami Dolphins are great at running the ball.
C
Right.
A
They are not a physical team.
C
Yes.
A
So. So I don't associate just because you're a physical team. You automatically run the ball.
C
Well, I wasn't Going to make that. That's a good one. I was going to make a Bill's point when they started the game. Now I have to remember. And it was Dalton Kincaid who ran over a player on the sidelines. It was early in the game.
A
Jets.
B
Jets.
C
Jets. Yes, Jets. To begin the game. There's your point of. It doesn't have to all come from the running game.
A
I do think. Mindset.
C
Mindset. You know, the Coleman rush, throwing the guy out of bounds, you know, like. Like you don't want the penalties, but.
A
Correct.
C
It's a. It's a cool thing for the team. They all feel like offensive linemen in those moments and they're pancaking and their.
A
Offensive line has been very good this year. That's not to say, and I knew I was going to say this on the pod today of how good the. The offensive line is played. That's not to say they don't have bad reps. That's not to say they don't have bad games. Just because like you are a good unit doesn't mean you don't have lapses in that. Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, all of those things. So. But this offensive line has been physical. Dion Dawkins has been an anchor. Spencer Brown, all Spencer Brown, maybe a little up and down, but for the most part they have been a steady physical force that has been able to get downhill and kind of impose that mentality, which I've really liked.
B
You know, the great thing too is I think they can get better by eliminating some of those silly penalties that they have. You see the level of play that they're at. And then if they're able to clean that up, which I expect that to be a point of emphasis one every week, but especially after what you've seen and for them to have that fine tuning and be able to notch it up even that much more, that to me is even more exciting for the team.
C
I would like to officially welcome you. We would. To team Run Game. Thank you for joining the team.
B
Let that sl. Just let it. Summer, you don't have to say anything. Just let it. Let it settle in.
C
Look at that mind. He's ready.
A
How can I twist my way out of this? I'm not.
B
And sometimes I think that doesn't mean you want the Bills to run the ball on every down, obviously. No, but it can when it's reliable and effective.
A
Hey, wait a second. I've been team Effective Run Game.
C
Oh, okay. Oh, we wanted to be an ineffective.
B
Yeah, no, that's what I Was actually hoping.
C
I will say I knew I could.
A
Get myself out of this.
B
I shouldn't have said anything because I think you hear the word.
C
In the entire time Josh has been a player on this team, this is the most multiple they have been in terms of what they. You know, you can go into this game, and we saw it a little bit last year when it was that Cowboys game where they just decided to run. That might have been more based on the defense, but, you know, with this team, they could go against Miami and decide we're pounding them with the run game and be effective. Or they could say, josh is going to light you up. And now all of a sudden, you got Amari Cooper and you got guys running down the field and Keon's playing well. Shakir. They actually. You look around the league like the best teams can do both.
A
Yeah. I was actually looking for the stacks. I know. I screenshotted it. I think this was so. I screenshot this September 13th. So this must have been after the jets game.
C
No, September 13th was early. That was right around the first Dolphins game.
A
Okay. So maybe that's what it was. Maybe we were flying back from the Dolphins game. They had a comment. It was on the Danny Perkins one. When Whatever shows he's on just.
B
It was right. The day after the Bills beat the Dolphins in Miami.
A
Perfect. He said, since the stat is. So that was a dated stat now at this point. But since 2020, the Bills are 22 and 15 when no running back rushes for 15 yards. Okay. They are. When a running back rushes for at least 50 yards.
B
Oh, 50 or 15.
A
5, 0.
B
Oh, you start.
A
So when no running back rushes for more than5.0 yards, they're 22 and 15. When somebody rushes a running back. So not. That does not include Josh Allen for more than 50 yards. They're 33 and 7.
B
Makes sense.
C
Yeah. Because you still have Josh Allen. His point. Chris Long has talked about what it's like as a defensive player.
A
Yes.
C
When there's a physically imposing run game and it hurts. He's also, you know, even the. He's talking about the Eagles. And you watch them. Hertz has become. They have pushed the run game, but then Hertz has now thrown the ball better and made better decisions. Josh is a notch above that. And. But he. It still helps Josh Allen.
A
Yep.
C
It's not always just as simple as, oh, you got play action. It is. You don't know what's coming with this. Bill's offense now, which is a far cry from where even it was early in the year.
A
Yep. Week three and week four.
C
Yep.
A
Yep.
B
I think you have to give credit to James Cook. I love the hit knocking off the guy's helmet. And then Ray Davis, too. I mean, I think we can talk about the rookies a little bit, but he's someone that I was kind of like, oh, we'll see what the Bills can get. I feel like they've for so long wanted the. The thunder and lightning, that type of thing. But for the guy picked up in the fourth round, who's 29 years old, feels like just to have him kind of make the impact that he's had so far has been. Cool.
A
Cool. Appreciate it.
B
All right. You want to go to more. You want to. Want to talk more rookies and Keon?
A
Do you want to talk Keon? And then we'll get to Dolphins.
B
Okay, sure.
A
Your thoughts first on Keon and the evolution of him as a player so far?
B
Yeah, I think sometimes it's really easy to put high expectations on a player that's drafted high. I think also, too, it's easy when you see where the Bills were kind of lacking at wide receiver. He was the only one picked obviously, in the draft so far in the spring, but I think it's a progression. I think for teams, it's really important to remember that because these guys are used to playing not a lot of games. They're used to having a couple losses in their season being over with. And I think I've been impressed with how Keon has kind of come along this season. Do I still expect and want more? Absolutely. But I think you see some of those plays, some of those above the rim plays that we can talk about. But I liked kind of the physicality, too, in which he was being able to play with the run blocking as well he talked about this week. So overall, I've been impressed. I think there's more room to grow. Of course there is. But so far, I think in the last couple of weeks, you kind of seen him turn a corner and kind of start to make those flashes that you expected to see.
A
I think he's starting to figure out the identity. You talk about the identity as an offense. I think Keon's finding his identity within that, and I think that's a big help. The running blocking has been a massive part. You know, you heard in the open him kind of saying, if I'm not going to get the ball, I'm. I'm. I'm going to hit somebody. Like that kind of physic, physical mindset. I. I Think has been a big boost. I think that's what they wanted when they drafted him. They didn't want. They must not have wanted an Xavier worthy. Like, they weren't going for this much of the speed. They thought they had that already. So they went with more of the physical, big body, above the rim guy. And. And I think it's. It's starting to see. And we talked about it last podcast about the confidence. It feels like it's growing. Like even. Even the simple plays, he just feels more confident breaking in and out of routes, timing.
B
I think early on, every player has kind of fake confidence.
A
Absolutely.
B
You're confident what you did in your college game, and you're like, I can do this. Like, I can play out here, all this stuff. And then I think sometimes your confidence, you're like, no, I can. I can do this. Like, I'll figure it out. And you have some moments.
C
That's all men, all the time.
B
You could say that's all people.
C
Well, we.
A
Confidence is a hell of a drug.
B
Yeah.
C
And fake confidence is really good.
A
Yeah.
B
No, I think fake. Fake confidence is fake, though.
A
Loves people with fake confidence.
B
Don't even get me started. A lot of people in this industry fake. But that being said.
C
Now hold on now we gotta have some names. There you go.
A
Yeah, air it out.
C
Let's go.
B
No, that's a whole. Another podcast.
C
You made really good point at the beginning. They drafted him high for them. It was their first pick and they had a big need. That makes it tough on a player.
A
Yeah.
C
Because the expectation say they would have.
A
Khalil didn't. There was no instant need with Khil.
B
Yeah.
C
Right. Well. And even higher. When you pick sometimes a team, you go, wow, they're taking a defensive tackle in the whatever. But they're like, he's the best player and we're taking them. Okay. You want to see. When you draft a wide receiver and you need a wide receiver and he's your guy, it's not only the pressure of being the top pick, it's the pressure of what are you going to do? And I think the biggest thing he's done, Josh, is at that level now where like, you got to earn the trust of that. Of 17. You know, it's like, yeah, throw. When the guy's open and all. I. I saw it a lot when he had the drop.
B
That was Houston, the deep ball.
A
Yep.
C
In Houston. Right.
A
Jets.
B
Okay, wait, I thought you were talking about when it bounced off his helmet.
C
Oh, no, not that one. That was pretty funny. No, he had the deep ball. Was. And then he did. He came back to him twice, and he made two catches. Now I see even more and more confidence that Josh has in him. And you're right about Keon. And now he's playing with a little attitude, too. Scores the touchdown.
B
Big Brom. Yeah, I love that. I love talking.
A
He says he doesn't do a lot of it.
B
That makes it even better because it's like pick and choose.
A
Josh does.
C
Could you have gotten a taunting penalty for that?
B
Yes.
C
Right.
A
If Woolen would have gone back at him.
C
I wondered if they knew each other. Did anybody ask him that?
B
Oh, bless you.
C
Yes. Bless you, my son. I wonder if they would have if they knew each other, if there was a. Any kind of. Because they had had a play right before that.
A
It was two plays before, and he sort of like.
C
Like, tap dapped him up a little bit, like, hey, nice play. And then he makes that play. And it was. Yeah, but I. I think he is playing with that. I think he's more comfortable in the offense. Yeah, but he has a role. Like, all of a sudden, this wide receiver room, all of a sudden it's developed in this first half of the year with Amari Cooper, and just because he did nothing in the last game, that with.
A
Is doing a lot of work.
C
There it is.
B
And which is funny because it's been.
C
Two weeks, but now the roles are good. And someone asked us in the US we answer about, you know, Samuel was out, so more went to the top, certainly to the guys who have been here. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Your top three receivers are obviously Cooper, Shakir, and.
A
Yeah. Coleman.
C
Coleman. Yeah.
A
Like, the base personnel of those three with Kincaid and Cook in the backfield is awesome. Like, there doesn't need to be a whole lot of rotation. And also when you're doing that, you can go quicker because you're not subbing as much.
B
Yeah, that's very true. Yeah.
A
So, like, how many times do we see it? And I understand it's every team. It's not just the Bills, but they. They sub in this package. They. They do these. These packages, and the defense gets a chance to adjust. And there's times with, like, Josh is, like, wanting to push the referee out of the way because they found rhythm. But if you can stay in the same base personnel and run a lot of different things off of that, it's a. It's a big bonus.
B
Yeah, yeah. No, it's very true. All right, let's talk Shakir. Yeah.
C
Dude, go ahead. Say Genesis this every time.
B
I love him.
C
You do?
B
I love. He's exactly what you want. He's. He leads the league in catch percentage. 94.7. 38 of 36. Yeah.
A
36 of 38.
C
Yeah.
B
Unreal. Dependable, the Yak. I mean, he's usually finding ways to wiggle out of tackles and get even more yards. He's been that guy in terms of always there for Josh, and he's someone that is a team guy. Like, whatever you need me to do, I'll be there. And it's not often that you find, like, players that are making impactful moments that kind of have that attitude of team first in that position group sometimes.
A
I mean this in the most positive way possible.
C
Now here comes something negative.
B
No, I'm curious.
A
He's boring. Like. Like.
B
Oh, I don't think so. See?
A
No, no, no. When he's never going to say something incredible in the press conference. He's never like, no. All we hear is football Guy. And trust me, we get. They get asked questions about Khalil every week because every week he's continuing to do something more and more impressive. Catch all these targets, all these things. And he was asked, Josh was asked this week about what did he see in him. And Josh said early on, even when he was a rookie, they were all in the quarterback room telling the coordinators and the coaches, like, get this guy in the field more. He's a dependable wide receiver. All of these things. So Khalil this week got asked, what does it take and what goes into being a dependable wide receiver?
C
What does that mean?
A
How do you try to make yourself easy to throw to? It's a great question.
C
I don't know. I guess, whatever.
A
That I would just go to, like, you know, whatever the play is, whatever the meaning of that play is, just.
C
Being where I'm supposed to be at.
A
You know, whatever that route is, running the route, how we run it throughout the week and, you know, don't switch anything up, you know, come game time. Just. I said just the preparation throughout the week and get open. I mean, that's my job as a wide receiver. Good question.
C
Yeah.
A
And Khalil just been like, I don't know, being in the right place.
B
I hear you, but. But I would rather have the steak than the sizzle, but that's just who I am. Like, I appreciate that more.
C
What is his.
B
Like, Dan is. Dan is a true offensive coordinator. Like, do you know that meme?
C
Yes.
B
It's like Einstein. And then you were that guy.
A
I. I don't know this meme.
B
Oh, my God. Yeah, you do. It's like Einstein. Oh, okay. This is terrible podcasting, but what is.
C
Shakir's dad texting him after the game?
B
Oh, yeah, because his dad.
C
Remember he told us he would get a text from his dad?
A
Yeah.
C
What are you saying? Oh, you only gained nine yards after that catch.
A
Yeah. Where. Where was the 11 the game before?
C
I. They did that little slip screen to him, and when you looked at it, you guys are down on the field, you have that great view, but sometimes when you're up top, it's like almost like the All 22. You're watching it, and I'm looking at it going. There's not a great amount of space. He had blocking, but his movements, his body movements. I'm not saying he's Jerry Rice. Okay. But Jerry Rice didn't have speed, but what he had was.
B
That's you. Oh, it's Ryan Gosling, defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, and head coach.
C
I kind of like that he does it all. There it is. That's really funny. What he does is he's. His angles are outstanding. He has a purpose when he steps. And that's the difference between 40 time shorts. Go run down the field. That's not football. And the great players who didn't have the high end speed know how to get from A to B and put themselves in a great spot. And I watched him, and it was one quick step and it. It turned into like 12 yards.
A
Yeah.
C
And it should have been three. That's where I see. And then there's other times he runs people over.
A
Right.
C
And Josh and he have this great symmetry now in the past. I mean, Josh is putting it with him on the move. All of a sudden, the Bills are a rack team. They just run after the catch and.
B
Remember for how long. The Bills cannot get any yards after the catch.
A
Brady said it on the broadcast. He's got some beasley in him. He's got some Welkerish traits to him of being dependable, reliable, all those things. My. My comment about him being boring is that, like, you know, like, when somebody's like, really impressive, and you're like, we're running out of, like, when Josh hurdles a guy and when Josh goes full on the Josh Allen experience, it's like you run out of ways to say how incredible he is. With Khalil, it's like, it's just a football guy. Like, there's no other.
B
Like, I totally get it.
A
Like, there's no other words to Describe it then. Like, he just comes about, does his business, catches the ball. He's a football guy.
C
I think there is a place where those numbers really jump with this team. I, you know, I think he. I undersold him. I thought he was going to be a nice. And that's like Cole Beasley. The difference is Cole Beasley wasn't running the whole route. Tree Shakira can do a lot.
A
Yeah.
C
You can put him on the outside. Yeah. I mean, that's not his. And maybe they don't need it as much on this team. I don't see him running, you know, the nine route and going down the field, but he definitely has a lot of that skill. And the numbers are good.
A
Yeah.
C
Especially because they just don't have to throw him the ball that much.
A
Yeah.
C
But if there's a game where they target him 14 times, he's coming up with 12 of them.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
C
That's just the. We just. That's what we come to expect.
B
There's been some comparisons to a Moss, Ross St. Brown, the Lions, our good friend Matt Beauvais.
A
Great follow. Great podcast.
B
You probably already follow Bove.
A
Yeah. Um, he.
B
You might follow us.
A
He's been telling me all week that he's. That he's a Monroe. Like, I think Amon Ra has a little bit more dynamic playmaking in. In his game. I think he has a little bit more physicality, a little bit more size.
C
Well, it's because his dad's making him lift those weights.
A
Correct.
C
You know, his dad's the.
B
No, I know.
C
Okay.
B
The lifting weights.
C
Yeah.
A
I also, we've made this comparison before. If you want to compare him to a Monroe, I think he's a Kirkland. Like a monitor.
B
Oh, my God.
A
Hey. First of all, Kirkland's great. Solid. Like, that's. That's not. Like. I'm not. I'm not even making that as a poor man reference. I'm saying it as a step above that, because I use Kirkland golf balls like. Like everything about Kirkland I like. But dig his way out of this hole. No, but I'm saying Amanda is an all pro wide receiver.
C
Yeah, there's. That's a step.
B
That's fair.
A
Okay, so, like, let's.
B
I get it, but it's just.
A
It's like when it was like when everybody was like, Duncan Kate is a poor man. Travis Kelsey. That's a big. That's a big step up.
B
That is. And obviously Kincaid. Or Kincaid. Well, yeah, you could say Kincaid has had a far less production than what we've seen from close. Shakir.
C
Okay. Kelsey's a hall of Famer.
B
Yeah.
C
Aman is. RA Is now a great player in this league.
A
He's a top 10 wide receiver.
C
But he's not in the hall of Fame.
A
Correct.
C
So that's another step. And Shakira, honestly, his progression is.
B
I want to play that for Shakir and then just have him go off and be like, fate said that I was.
C
Then you'll see him get mad.
B
Yeah.
A
And then he'll be like, that's. That's a pretty good point. I understand that.
B
Like. Like you might say that to your face, but he's not saying that behind.
A
When we asked him about what utensil he was and somebody's called him a corkscrew because it takes him a little while to get open. Yeah, it was. MBS said that. And I asked. Shakira goes, they called you a cork screw. And he was like, that's. That's pretty good. He goes, it does take me a little bit to get going down the field. Okay. Like, he's so nice. He's genuinely like, who.
C
Who said that? Who called him that?
B
Some former wide receiver who is mvs.
A
So. The Dolphins. So to the Dolphins game.
C
Yes. Okay.
B
Yeah. They heard. They're struggling.
A
They're not a good team.
B
Two is back.
C
He's so eager for the. Go ahead.
B
Go ahead. Go ahead. They're two and five.
A
Give me one more. Just. Just a solid.
C
Go ahead.
B
There it is.
A
Yeah. I just don't think that the Dolphins are a very good team. I know we can. There's always that fear of the talent and the explosiveness of this Dolphins offense. And I think so much of the Dolphins is always focused on their offense, and understandably so. I look at this game as I also try and figure out who is going to slow down Josh Allen and who is going to slow down this offense. They are already without guys on their defense. Javon Holland got banged up in the second half of the last game. One of their guys got broke his orbital bone because he got poked in the eye at practice. Their best defensive lineman. I just don't think this game is that close. And I understand, like, the Dolphins are a desperate team and they're playing for their season. I don't. I think their season's already over. I just think that even with to a back and even if the offense gets going to what they were before, this defense is so decimated that they really don't have a chance with their injuries to become a wild card. Contending team.
C
I don't think they're going to be a wildcard contender. I don't think they're good enough to continue even if they were to come up with an upset. My concern for this week is this is the first time in recent times when two is on the field and we can criticize to all you want as a player, but the drop off when Tua wasn't on the field was to nothing. They could do nothing in the passing game. I don't think they're a good team and I don't think they're. I don't think they're going to make the playoffs no matter what happens. My concern for this week is no one thinks the Dolphins are going to win this game and this is a rare time for them. Almost every other time it's like, okay, Dolphins, let's see what you got. And Josh always finds a way against them and destroys them and crushes their hopes. I mean, yeah, they did have the, the game on the surface of the sun and they won that one, but the rest of the time has been pretty much Bills. I just, my concern for the Bills is that the Dolphins come in as a different approach this week or go to their strength. They do have backs that can run it. Now. This will take them getting the lead if they commit to the run game. You know, the Bills played well against the run, but they got the lead last week. It hasn't been the biggest strength of the team. My concern is that it's a divisional game. Like we saw Cleveland and Baltimore and they just hang in there. I still think the Bills are winning the game, but sometimes I just look and I go. It's too easy to just say blow them out. I could be totally wrong. And I kind of, you know, kind of like the blowouts. It makes our job a little smoother and a little easier. But I think Miami hangs around in this one.
A
But when you, when you've made that comparison about Cleveland and Baltimore, there was a massive fundamental change in that Browns team. They went from the 45th best quarterback in the league to a top 30 quarterback and it, it improved the vibes drastically.
C
And that team, well, still, Miami went for less than 45th best quarterback last week. 100% to have played pretty well. They were really good on third down. They should have won the game. Now Miami finds ways to lose tremendously. Like they are very good at finding ways to lose. They just were better last week. They were better offensively and Arizona is a decent team.
A
Yeah.
C
And they should have won the game at home. And they choked it away. Now, maybe that is the game that puts them over the top, where it's.
A
Like, we're done when we know this answer. When was the last time the Dolphins won? In Buffalo.
C
The Dolphins won in Buffalo. No, they lost that game. I don't remember.
B
2016.
A
Rex punting in overtime and Christmas Eve, right? Yep.
C
Yep.
A
Rex and he had 10 guys on the field for the final play. The first play of the first play after he punted. And then Ajay ran the.
B
Yeah.
A
The long run.
C
Bold strategy.
B
Yeah.
A
Didn't work out.
C
No. No.
B
Against the Bills, eight career games, seven touchdowns, 10 interceptions.
C
Yeah.
B
Eight of those games.
C
McDermott is 14. And two against. Not all this stuff.
B
Three of those games to a left to feel with injuries.
C
I'm not disagreeing with you.
B
I think you're overthinking it. Can I be honest? And maybe Josh against the Dolphins.
A
Thank you.
B
I just. That's all I have to say.
C
Hey, by the way, I have the Bills winning by six points. I don't have it to be in a kick and a field goal at the end of the game. I have them winning by a touchdown.
B
Is there a field goal of death before that?
C
No.
B
Okay.
A
I. I just am struggling to understand this Hung and like, don't get me wrong, I agree at a lot of the times of the Hungry Dog runs faster and all those things in desperate teams, but this isn't just a small sample size of a team that has dominated them.
C
Oh, you're right.
B
I think the hungry Dog is broken. We're being honest. I just. I feel the same way, which I usually am. Not this, like, I think the Bills are gonna win, but I think the Bills are gonna win.
A
I think they win bigly.
C
Okay, what do you got?
B
Bigly?
A
Very bigly. 40 to 20.
C
Oh, okay.
B
I had 31. 17.
C
Actually, you know what?
A
This is only the bill's fourth home game, which is crazy. We wonder why we've been so tired, all the travel, all these things.
C
Well, we're midway point of the year. I know, but they have, what, eight home games this year?
A
They were three on the road home, then on the road again. Right. So this is only there.
B
I agree with you. Why are you downplaying that?
C
Because it's half the amount of home games halfway through the season.
A
I mean, but recently.
B
Yeah, I'm saying because it was home.
A
Away home to start.
C
Right.
A
And now they've played four out of five on the road.
C
Well, when you play three in a row on the road, that's yeah, that's.
B
That's exactly the point we were making. But.
C
But they have. So in the second half of the year. This is halfway through the season. The second half of the year, four more home games.
B
Are you mansplaining the schedule to us?
C
No, I just feel like, you know.
A
I'm aware of what halfway through a season is.
C
Right. And it's. And they've played half their home games.
A
He's mansplaining to us.
C
No, I'm explaining to you. I have 27. 20 bills.
A
I just realized.
B
Change the subject.
A
I just realized this camera's been in the shot the entire time.
C
Way to go.
B
Oh, I didn't see that.
A
Nope. It's not that.
B
Oh, it's my camera. Is it?
A
Yep.
B
That's really funny.
A
Oh, well, there we go.
C
Yeah. Oh, and they've also played five road games.
B
You're hating on it, but there's logic. There is logic. What is it? Three out of four have been on the road. Four out of five have been on the road.
C
Yeah. That was their big road. And at the end of the year, they play a bunch of.
B
You know what? He's just not on the field, so he doesn't get it.
A
It's not in the building. Doesn't it.
C
Hey, I'm on the field in Indy. Pregame.
A
I've already thought about St. Elmo's quite a bit.
B
I'm a little jealous.
A
You just loved your Seattle trip.
B
No, it was fun. Yeah, I know, but St. Elmo's, I don't really often get steak. And, like, that is a great steak.
C
It's a great place.
B
And that shrimp cocktail with the spicy horse rat.
C
All the people, too, when we go there, and then they're like, oh, this place is better. Prime. No, no, no. You go to St. Elmo's because it's Saint Elmo.
A
It's St. Elmos.
C
It's not like we're there every. If it's not like I'm going there every week.
A
Correct.
C
Combine. And the rare time when we, you know, go to Indy to play in the regular season.
A
Before we do. Credit to me, can we talk real quick? I just wanted to say we talked about this game. I have it as 40 to 20. Where are the Bills? If I say the Bills are the blank. Best team in the afc, where are they? Jenna's first.
B
In terms of the afc. I mean, obviously, the Chiefs are still undefeated. I think they're vulnerable, but they are still undefeated. Ravens, I think, look really good. Obviously, we know how that game against The Bills went.
A
Jenna. Thinking out loud.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
Buying time to try thinking.
B
Thinking out loud. That was so bad.
C
Please cut that might be the open.
B
Yeah, please cut that. I don't really believe in the Steelers. I think the Texans are. Now that Diggs is out, it's a number answer. I would say. I would say third. I would say third. I think the Chiefs are the Chiefs and obviously that we don't have to go into that backstory. And then I think that the Ravens look really good. Now. Do I think it's sustainable for the Ravens? I'm waiting to see. Because we've seen collapses for Baltimore. So will that happen in the postseason? But right now I have the Bills at third. What about you?
C
So it's the way you're playing, but then where you really are. So you can't put them ahead of the Chiefs. Obviously you're not. But the Chiefs are number one, though I don't think they're playing great. It's still the Chiefs. They're going to get their guys back, too. So they're number one. I put the Ravens ahead of them. They beat the Bills handily. But I thought the great line. I don't know which analyst said it. I like the Chiefs. I like the Ravens. I don't trust the Ravens in big moments. But at the moment, you'd have to put them ahead of the Bills. I think the digs loss is big for Houston. Maybe they make a move, you know, to get another receiver because obviously they're going to get their main guys back. But that's the case. I would. I think they're better than the Texans right now, even though they lost that game to them. Agreed. So I would say right now, third. And that's what's funny about this. When you talk about where they are in the schedule and, you know, the division and all that kind of stuff, you're really fighting to be in the top two. That's the goal. That's not easy. The Ravens lost. Last week was nice for the Bills, like in that case, because, you know, they still have a lot of division games, so I'll say third, but they're playing as. They're playing as well as anybody. Yeah, but you have to say third. Well, you don't have to, but say third.
B
You're going to say second.
A
He's going to say, I'm going to say second. And that's. And this is because. And look after that Ravens game, I know we talked about it, that you said, oh, if they play that game again, I think It'd be different. And I was like, I don't know how much different that game would be. That's just a physical team. I also think it was a little bit of the situation which I talked about of like, Baltimore doesn't lose home primetime games. They were without Milano, they were without Taren, and they were without Bernard. Like, I'd like to give. I'd like the Bills to get another shot at the Ravens and that physical style of team with their guys on.
B
Defense, that scares me.
A
What?
B
Having to play the Ravens again, Matt.
C
It doesn't scare me. I'll take Josh over Lamar in a playoff game.
A
That's.
B
Yes. But Derrick Henry has been. Yeah, Meh. Meh. Derk Henry has destroyed the playoffs by.
C
The end of the year.
A
Give me one more playoffs.
C
Give me one more by the end of the year.
B
No, you got.
C
You got me singing by the end of the year. And in the playoffs, that might be a little different unless they can get him some rest, because that's a lot. He's got. He's got a big workload. And the Bills, again, I'm going under the impression that the Bills get healthier and get more players.
A
They added Deontay Johnson at the trade deadline. That was another weapon. Again, I. I'm with you. And. And I feel like I'm not trying to like, downplay Lamar. It's always been kind of my vibe on Lamar is that like, make him a passer. Like, I still don't trust him as a true passer. In the NFL and in big playoff games, you have to make big time throws. And I just don't know if I believe it. So I, I do think the Bills are the second best team. I think a little bit of that. I think the Bills will benefit from the cannibalization of the AFC North. Yeah, you like that one?
B
Good word.
A
Yeah, yeah, I got that one Right. And so I think that Baltimore will get beat up. They will lose a couple more games because of how tough that division is. And I think that when the dust settles, if the Bills can continue to get better and this offense continues to develop, which is what we have seen over these last few weeks, the emergence of Amari Cooper. I think they're going to end up with the two seat.
C
Yeah, it's really strange. Beyond that, who ends up in the playoffs? Could Flacco do that with the Colts? We're going to see him next.
A
Just something about Joe Flacco.
C
Joe Flacco.
B
Flacco.
C
I will say this about Pittsburgh. I want to Give them this. They know who they are. They play that way. I don't think they're the type of team. Hate to say it, but Russ probably works for them, the type of team that they are. And I think they could be a tough out in a game. I don't see them making a run in the playoffs as a wild card, winning three, four games. I think you need better quarterback play. But they know exactly who they are. They got attacking people. They can run the ball. They are a physical team.
B
They have four division games in a row.
C
Who? Pittsburgh.
B
Pittsburgh.
C
So we'll know.
B
Ravens, Browns, Bengals. Browns.
C
And I'm just looking around the. The rest of it. It's like. Like Denver is a sneaky, tough team. They're not going to be. Yeah, but these are the teams that are going to fight for a playoff spot.
A
Yep.
C
Behind these teams who the divisions are going to spread out pretty fast, but let's see what ends up happening.
A
Jets and Dolphins are not either of those teams that we have talked about.
C
Now we're recording this before the game, but it's actually better for the Bills. I think if the jets win against the Texans. That's the type of team you need. Texans losses.
B
Oh, okay.
C
Yeah.
A
What if they jets lose and Rogers just retires?
C
Oh, no, he's drinking the cayenne.
B
No, he's. He's a team player. What do you mean?
A
Yeah, totally.
C
How about that? I found the fountain of youth. No, you haven't.
A
He's been in the darkness.
B
He's so unlikable.
C
He just is.
B
He's deeply unlikable. Deeply.
A
Credit to me also.
B
What's that? Can I have it? You found a youth. What's that?
C
Yeah, you need it. Please.
B
Putting up with you guys.
C
All right.
B
Credit to me. Dan, you can start.
A
I got like five of them.
B
Okay, well, whittle it down.
A
That's fair. Shout out. Credit to all, like the general contractors out there, people that can rework houses. Like. I wish I knew.
B
So credit to Chuck.
A
So Chuck Drob does all this work on our houses. He's done the work with. With you, like, and I know he listens to the pot, so I would just want to give him a shout out.
B
And Justin.
A
Yeah. They're redoing our kitchen. So I appreciate your thoughts and prayers, Chuck.
C
Justin paying for time on the spot here. You just giving them. Just.
A
Just want to give them the free.
B
Yeah.
A
They deserve it. It's great to have like family and friends that can do these kind of things. So I just. We've done Flooring. They've done everything for our house. So credit to all the blue collar general contractors out there. Shout out to you guys. The other one is a credit to all the parents on Halloween. Like, this is nuts. Like, gearing up for this Halloween. Like Shane, all this stuff. Like, very nervous about tonight. Just in the sense of I don't know if I have the energy for this.
B
I'll take the. I would love to go.
A
Like, I'm just worried. I don't have the.
C
You walk them around in a cart or anything?
B
No, you should take the cart.
A
Well, we have a cart and a stroller.
C
We take the cart. Beers in the cart.
A
Oh, there's going to be beers. There will be beers.
B
Really?
C
I mean, I did this a while ago. I don't just walk around the neighborhood.
A
There goes Catalana again. Is cart of 30 rap.
C
Can you imagine?
A
Gotta be on the 6 o' clock news later.
B
All right. Yeah, have a good one. Oh, my God.
A
And then my last one is credit to me for understanding I am fully washed. Fully washed. At the practice yesterday, there was a football lying around.
C
Oh, no, you didn't. What did you do? I have told you about this.
B
No, no, no. It wasn't during practice. This. It was after. All the players were in the locker room, so they didn't see this.
C
God, what did you do?
A
I'm so washed.
C
You tried to throw the ball?
B
Yep.
C
He's like into the net.
B
No, no, he's like from the 40 yard line into the end.
A
No. Matt Bovet asked, how far do you think I could throw? Do you think you could throw a football? And I said 40. And he's like, that's so far. And so we just started throwing it like 20, 25 on the practice field.
B
So we could see.
A
And this is an NFL football. It's a lot bigger than the Nerf footballs you throw.
C
And it's slick too.
A
It's a little slick. It was a kicking ball too. I want that. It's very infl. It's very hard. Hard.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
And how far did you throw? No, I got a 40. 38.
B
Yeah, it was 38, but.
A
But I was two yards deep in the end zone. I was two yards deep in the end zone. Yeah, you guys didn't. We didn't get that. So, yeah, I threw a couple wobbly ducks. Again, not great. I'm shot. My arm hurts. We threw what? I throw five probably. I was sitting there last night going to bed and I'm like, why? Why does my arm hurt so much? And I was like, I threw five footballs.
C
You know what's funny? I said this to you guys before. Josh throws at every practice.
B
Yeah.
C
Like, there's not a day where he's like, maybe there is Monday and Tuesday, I guess. Yes. But they throw and they throw and it's bigger than.
A
Obviously it's bigger and heavier than a baseball. Yeah. Like through base. I throw 300 baseballs in a baseball game when I was playing in college. That's not a big deal. I am so washed. And I texted Bovet this morning and I was like, my arm is hanging. And he's like, you're kidding. Like, don't. That's not true. So I'm a non athletic retired person. I am done with athletics. The beer league, hockey is. Is all that I can do.
B
Oh, I was to say, I thought you were retiring from that.
C
No.
A
Nope. I am just. I am washed.
C
Okay.
B
I can't believe your arm hurts.
A
It. It like, I feel like I went nine innings, like, and I threw. I threw the football seven times.
B
Let me tell you. There was some wobbly ducks.
C
Let me ask you this.
B
There was a little ick. Sprinkled.
C
Let me ask you this. Is there video of this?
B
No, I didn't take any. I respect. I respect him too much.
A
The one that got 38 plus yards was a good spiral.
B
It was.
A
No, that when you try and throw a football, like, hard. Hard and far, it. It just slips. Yeah. And again, this is an NFL football, so it's not like I'm throwing a Nerf ball. Like, I could throw that farther.
B
Yeah. Well, it's funny because once you were in the end zone and I was around 35, I was like, oh, this is far. Like this.
A
And Josh throws that, like, out with ease on his.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
Backpedaling.
B
Yeah.
C
So you're saying is Josh Allen throws the ball better than Dan Fates High.
B
It's a real shocker.
A
My arm.
C
Okay, shot. Can I go next? Because I think I'm going to get killed. Jenna's talks. All right. Mine is. I am credit to me. I am an elite shopping adjacent person.
B
I'm going to need to explain.
C
I have spent a good portion of my life with women in my life who like to shop. My daughters, my wife, my stepdaughter, my niece, all of them. I go with the flow. I go in the store. I know how to hang. I don't ever complain. I don't ever say, I can't be. I'm not doing this. The phone's a great thing. Because I can Sit aside. There are guys who right away complain. I've never done that.
B
That bothers me.
C
Go right away and say you want to shop. And I know my way in the store is to sort of meander around, find my spot. I don't hover where you're like, are you done yet? I comment when it's asked. Like, Jenny will say, what do you think of this? Oh, that's great, because I don't care, but I will say it. And when Jenna and I were in sales, not like, we go shopping, she's like, oh, can I run in this?
B
Oh, yeah. I went to Uniqlo.
C
She went in the store. I found my own little space. I wandered around, I let her go, whatever she was looking for.
B
Yeah.
C
And then we went. I think it is an elite skill because there's too much complaining. I have spent time all over the country, in different countries, just allowing the shopping to go.
B
I, you know, I didn't even think about it because you were good at it. But, yeah, if you're like, oh, my God, never. Like what? Like, I. That bothers me because it's like, hey, we're right here. We're going to just do a little bit of shopping. Just. Just hang out.
C
And I am not a shopper. I just. I go to buy. I buy something. I don't go to shop. I make a little bit and then I'm out. Yeah, but I. I don't mind.
B
Yeah, credit to you, father.
C
Daughters, too. You got. You got years of this coming.
B
Did they do a fashion show? When did you. Did you not. They. The girls don't come home and be like, this is what we bought. Try it on.
A
Yeah. You know, I'm just deadpan, no, look at this outfit. They don't put it on. They just show. Because we have to. We wash everything before we wear it.
B
So, like, oh, see, I don't do that.
A
The sensitive skin of the kids.
B
Like, okay, that's very soft.
A
So, like, so. So it takes like 25 minutes to cut off all the tags and take off the little things.
C
Like, yeah, wait, wait a little bit. And that part is fine. I'm just talking about when the actual shopping is.
A
I'm not good. I'm not good at it.
B
You gotta. No, like, got a lot.
A
Now. Now it's with Renee, it's like, I will not go because I will sit there. And when she's like, what do you think about this? And it's the reaction that they want to get from you, and I just never have it. Oh, my God, I never have it.
B
Oh, what do you mean? You just. Oh, that's nice.
A
Yeah. And then she's like, well, what do you think? I don't care.
B
Oh, my. Do you. Do you say, I don't care? You see what I mean? That would. That would send.
A
Wait. I feel like I'm not good at it. I. I.
B
Well, it doesn't even seem like you're trying.
A
I were decorating the house. What do you think about this? Looks great. What about this one? Looks great. What about.
B
Is there something. If you didn't like it, would you say something?
A
Yeah, like, a little bit. Like. Okay, I like that one a little bit better.
B
Okay.
C
My dad was good at this. He would go, and then he would go. With my kids, he was good at it. And the quick, funny story is, in New York City, one time, he got, you know, he's like, I'm done. He ended up finding this bar, and he went and hung out at the bar, and then my mom went to get him. So we're ready to go. I went shopping with my daughters. My mom was there with us, and I said, I'll be back. Like, she was going to do the thing. And then she goes, and I ended up going to the exact same bar.
B
Okay. That's kind of adorable.
A
That's really cool.
C
Yeah. But I just hung there.
A
Yeah.
C
And when they needed me, they told me, I don't do that all the time.
B
Yeah.
C
Here I. I just take part around with.
A
There were more bars at shopping centers. I would go a lot more.
B
Well, at the mall. There is.
C
Yeah.
B
I don't usually go to the mall with Zach, though.
A
No.
B
But there's times where we'll be shopping.
A
All right.
C
As I said, I think it's an elite skill.
A
Women be shopping.
B
It is appreciated, for sure.
C
Jenna will probably mention some.
A
Yeah. What you steal from Zach today?
B
No, I didn't steal anything.
A
Okay.
B
No. Also, but Halloween candy is expensive, and you're cheap. I'm cheap. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I'm economically diligent. We're gonna rebrand cheap.
C
Okay.
A
I like. Yeah, frugal's a bad word.
B
I don't like being frugal. Yeah. I just picked my spot.
A
Financially disciplined.
B
Yes. Oh, love it. Love it. Okay. My credit to me is credit to me. I can use chopsticks now. Am I, like, the best at using chopsticks? Absolutely not. But we were in Seattle, and Mike and I went to a dumpling house. Phenomenal dumplings in Seattle. Obviously. Very iconic Asian food. Like a great place to go and we went to this restaurant that was very authentic, and they didn't give forks or knives. They just gave chopsticks. And watching Mike stabbing, stabbing at the dumplings, trying to pick it up. There was one bow bun that literally exploded.
C
It did.
B
And the juice went all over Mike. It's like, are you good? Are you good?
C
Okay. Jenna is 1000% correct in this. I have used chopsticks. I have done a better job.
A
Your whiteness is showing.
C
I was having a. I was. I was having a Dan Fates throwing day with the chopsticks.
B
He was holding him like this. I was like, what do you.
C
That's the way I was holding it. It just wasn't working.
B
He was so stabbing.
A
So embarrassing to go to a Chinese or a sushi place, like, of a fork. Could I get a.
C
Four places, just see me. And they just hand me a fork.
B
But I placed it. They gave us.
C
Yeah, but I gave everybody. But I will say this. This is such a Jenna story. So we're in Seattle. We do a bunch of stuff. We shoot some videos. And what? She goes back to her room. I'm sitting there, I'm watching the game, maybe taking a nap. We're like, a little bit of time, I get a text, hey, we're going to dinner. Meeting the friends from work a little bit. She's like, hey, I could use a snack.
B
We were getting dinner at 6:30, and we went, yeah, well, I was hungry.
C
Can we get a snack?
B
And we went to dinner with a vegetarian, and I got crispy fried pork.
C
To share for the table.
B
She was banging those.
C
Really tasty.
A
Oh, that's good.
B
Oh, I know.
C
Oh, those forks were excellent.
B
Yeah. You were really excited for the fork.
C
Yeah, I was like, I'm in.
B
Yeah. Fork and knife. Yeah. The chopstick, though, I wish I should have recorded it, but I. Oh, no.
C
You should have recorded Dan throwing the football.
B
I know. I really miss both opportunities. Mostly to save both of your egos.
C
I know.
B
I try.
A
As we wrap up, I did want to give a shout out to Pete Reynolds. He sent us. Sent me a DM on Tuesday. We share the same birthday, so shout out to Pete. Happy Bladed birthday. He was listening and listens to the podcast and just said, really enjoys all of us, so appreciate.
B
Thank you. Appreciate that. All right, we'll have our regular coverage. Obviously, we're getting ready for the game Sunday. We'll all be there.
C
Did you give a score?
B
Yeah, I said 31 17.
C
Okay, 31 17, 2720 and 115 to 6.
B
Do you know that.
A
Inside joke.
B
Yeah. Okay. Please be sure to, like, comment, subscribe and share. We always appreciate it. We hope everyone has a great and safe Halloween. Thank you for joining us. We'll catch you next time here on the Buffalo Plus Channel, presented by Connors and Ferris for the chopsticks. Did you take it from the.
C
I know, but I was trying to reach over, but we didn't have time.
B
Okay, that looks like you're really cheap. Do another one.
C
There we go. Up to.

The hosts blend analytical depth with locker room-level candor and Bills-centric pride. Friendly teasing and playful arguments keep the pace lively, with relatable stories and practical humor—perfect for die-hard fans and casual listeners alike.
This episode is a thorough deep-dive into how the Buffalo Bills are evolving under Joe Brady’s leadership with a notable embrace of physical football, both offensively and by establishing a tough line of scrimmage identity. The hosts clearly state and defend the necessity of a reliable run game for January success, meanwhile highlighting the balanced contributions of key young players like Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. Their consensus is that Miami, despite its reputation for offensive explosiveness, isn’t equipped to slow down Buffalo, especially with defensive injuries mounting.
The podcast finishes with candid talk about where Buffalo stands in the AFC pecking order and closes with fun “credit to me” stories and some Halloween banter. The combination of sharp football insight and Bills-fan family warmth makes this a must-listen episode for understanding the Bills’ current mindset, strengths, and goals as the season reaches its pivotal second half.
