I say thankfully because, you know, I enjoy when I get to slip into this role. And the reason I'm in this role is because it is time for the draft, the travel draft of Buffalo Plus. Okay, talk about power here. So we set up the draft and in order to get the number one pick, we decided we're going to draw one envelope, like a lottery. Right. And we're going to have some photos of the winner. So whoever we pick gets the number one pick. We put multiple ones in there just to give it a little more drama. So it's not just two envelopes. They both made up their own. Dan big and bold, Jenna's classic and sleek. Yes. So this is, this is what I deal with here with you.

Blew me away. And the amount of people, the ones we always kind of send in the group text are the people that aren't even Bill's fans. They're fans of the Vikings, they're fans of the Chiefs. But I never thought the travel draft, which is something we kind of did on the side as, hey, we'll make it content. And so many people have said that the travel draft is one of their favorite podcasts of the year.

In case you have not been here for a travel draft, this is the way it works. We travel to all of the road games based on a little bit of seniority. Here I go to the games, Dan, 14 children only goes. Only go. You know, they split it up. You guys split up the other games.

And so we used to Just sort of talk about it, I think, in the beginning. And then it became, well, let's see, who wants to go to which one. And then it became a draft, and. But now it's just taken over the draft. There's strategy involved here.

So let's also go over this in a sense of saying the way the schedule works this year, we're all. We're at all the home games.

And then we're the. The mix of the road games. And this year's road schedule is wild. A year ago, farthest west they went was Houston.

We drove to a lot of games. Simple flights for. In upstate New York or western New York. We're going to Charlotte and Atlanta. They're direct flights, like those kind of things. This year, it is on. So they start out with what was the farthest trip a year ago at Houston, Then they go to la, then they go to Vegas, then they go to Minnesota.

Incredible stadium. Have either of you two been there?

No, I haven't been there.

Okay. At the jets, which is a New York trip. Beautiful stadium at the Patriots, maybe the

worst stadium, but it's New York City and New Jersey. Like, it's still cool.

Patriots at the packers, where they haven't been since Josh's rookie year at the Broncos.

That game was bad.

Yes. They got shut out and they. The Dolphins in January. That is a past Christmas. You're a little familied out after New Year's too, right? It's nice.

I feel like he's putting thumb on scales of things here. No, I'm just saying, does the commissioner come out and be like, hey, you know who's really good? This player is a phenomenal. Like, I just feel like you're.

Well, I think when I. When you look at the schedule, there is big pluses to most of the games. There's a couple. When you would say little minors. But there's. There's stuff about those games that are important to people in different ways. One of your best friends lives in Jersey. Jersey. So that's always a big one.

And there's a Buffalo Wild Wings.

Right. The caucus that we go to every

time that has the worst service of any restaurant that we would ever choose to go back by far.

Yeah, I go back every.

I didn't actually look it up, but it would be interesting to see what places have Chili's nearby.

Yeah.

Because the Saturday night before dinner is usually more of the nicer meal that we go out to. And then after the game Sunday is either just snacks at the hotel depending on if it's a late game, if we're smart enough, which we're not usually to have a pizza waiting for us after the night game. But the go to after games at like one o' clock is Chili's, by the way.

Is wild to be in some cities where you call them and say, do you deliver this late? And they're delivering at like 2:30 in the morning.

[C]

Yeah.

So you're like, okay.

It's like we get back to the hotel and then there's like the Bills fans stumbling back in too as well. And you're like wheeling all the gear in. They're like, what a game. You're like, yeah, I'm starving. I've eaten a sandwich in the press box.

That Chili's Diet Coke hits so hard though.

I know.

After a long game, Elite is that funny.

We're just hydration break before we get to the draft. I wanted to shout out somebody. So my. My wife and I were out to dinner before my daughters, granddaughters, everybody came to visit. We went out to eat. As we're walking to the car, here comes Preston and his wife. Could not have been nicer. Big fans, Buffalo plus the chances of us running into. Even though they live in Rochester. I mean, I'm walking out of the restaurant, they're taking a walk, post dinner. They live in the neighborhood, said the nicest things about Buffalo, plus how much they enjoy it. And it was just. It was great to hear. So thank you for stopping. The timing was perfect, and it worked out great.

And then anybody who saw me Saturday in the Parrington, Wegmans or Aldi's drew a lot of looks. I had all three kids with me, gave the wife some time she needed. And there were a lot of people that came up to me, were very kind. And then there was somebody at the gas station earlier in the week. He was in front of me waiting to pay. We're just kind of standing there waiting for the cashier to get ready, and he just looks at me and goes, y' all pick your games yet?

That trip kicked my butt.

We flew back. Did we fly back after the game? We flew back after the game.

Yeah. And I was like, I don't know if I want to do that trip again.

We took the red eye out of Vegas after the draft.

That was a big wet fart. Waste of time.

It's so pointless to take red eyes when you have to connect anyway to get back to the city where you're from, because you're going to. We stayed like four hours at the Chicago airport. Just be like, this was a bad idea.

Yeah. You need. The only way it works is a direct flight or a very quick layover.

Because then you get back because we

flew out of Vegas at like 11 or 12 o' clock at night. And then you land in Chicago at 4 in the morning and then it's an 8 o' clock flight back to Rochester.

Because if you stay over, you get home at about 10 or 11 the next day.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I'm not saying it doesn't. Like, again, there are so many times when we're planning trips, it's like, let's just get home. I. I would rather be home and tired than the three hours of extra sleep you get in the morning to catch a later flight. But it doesn't mean that, like, I mean, again, we don't live in a major city, so the fact that, like, the red eye is.

Yeah, red eyes, tough. Unless you're flying to Buffalo and then you're driving home from Buffalo, which that's.

That can be challenging too. I do love Sofi as a stadium, though. I think it's a really cool stadium. It's also, like, really interesting because they had to dig the stadium into the ground because it's a. It's right over the flight path of lax. So it's cool how it's like dug into the ground and then it's actually a. What is it? A modern art museum or am I thinking of Dallas?

Dallas has the.

Dallas has the modern art museum, but like, the. The different level. We got like, a really extensive tour of Sofi when we were there.

Yeah.

For the Bills opener a couple seasons. And it's just a. It's just a beautiful stadium.

Yeah. And hopefully the weather, because we've been there when the weather was incredibly hot.

[C]

Yeah. But I would imagine, I mean, that's October 12th.

It's probably gonna be perfect.

There's like a bunch of fountains outside. If you are a Bills fan, like, I think that you should go to a game there because it is such an excuse.

Or double dip. Go LA and Vegas.

Very funny. The fact of, like, the first time we were in LA was like, you Google Maps wherever you need to go and you're like, perfect. There's an in and out Burger 3.4 miles away, and then you put it in, it's like, you'll be there in 42 minutes.

Because I know a lot of people that do like family and everybody's together, watch the super bowl. And at halftime break, they. Some people bail. I have. When we haven't gone to a Super bowl, we're just. I bet you half the time I'm watching the second half by myself. Yeah, everybody's kind of done their thing. They've watched it. I think that could be that Bills game for some people.

That's also my thing is, too, like, depending on how that game goes, like, there's going to be a lot of anxiety probably leading up to that. Like, yeah, it's the Chiefs. It's at home. It's, you know, it's the Thanksgiving game.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And at home, then the other one is late in the year. That's. Could. I mean, that should be a massive game, too, in terms of Denver.

I mean, it's Christmas and it's at Denver.

There's a lot of choices on this thing. You got la, you got Vegas. They're different places. Green Bay, Minnesota will be another one

Yeah, yeah. My grandma's also from Minnesota, so I've never. I've always wanted to go there.

Yeah. Just to see where she was from.

So I haven't been to Sofi, haven't been to Green Bay, haven't been to Vegas. So those would be three new stadiums to check off my bucket list.

See, Minnesota was the. Well, Vegas. I want to go to Vegas. I have not gone there. But I also feel like there's more opportunity to go to a stadium like Vegas as opposed to Minnesota.

So I get. I get to add a couple of stadiums. I've never been to this. This Minnesota Stadium as I did not go the last time when the Bills were there. And I've never been to the Vegas stadium. So now I'm gonna. I'm gonna. Yeah, I'm gonna be up. Over. I'm over. It'll be over. 60 different stadiums. New one in Buffalo.

Yeah. Which we got a great comment in on the Buffalo plus Origins video, which also I know Dan said earlier, but just to like echo that. The comments were incredible. Did I cry reading all them? Yes, but it was awesome. But one of the questions or the comments was about now for what the new stadium is like. Just like after we cover some games there, what it's like for us down there and kind of doing a walkthrough of like what that experience is like and how different it is because it's going to be different obviously for the players, for the coaches, but even for us and what we do, it's going to be a different type of landscape.

So I would say that while we've loved the old High Mark stadium and we're used to it, it is logistically the least straightforward, efficient. It's. It's just.

It's. It was sufficient.

We are just used to doing. When you come from another city, it's hard to find one that is.

It was the one tunnel in and out was a nightmare. But the media room being the closest possible thing to the field was a bonus.

That's the only thing I would say is that like you could run back and get a battery and like a commercial break. That was always nice. Besides that.

The press box is nice in the old stadium.

It's not the biggest, but it's very view sufficient size and it's a good view of the game. Yeah.

do think it's funny because, like, going and driving now by the new stadium and just seeing how beautiful it is and we're hopefully going to get through there. Coming up soon to check it out again. And then, like, but also having them be tearing down the old high mark, it's like, it's night and day difference between the two stadiums, but it's like I feel that emotional tug of like, oh, my gosh, I can't believe they're tearing down.

Still feels like we're going there. Still feels like the next game we're going to the old stadium even though we've been there.

Well, two things. The comments were.

Unbelievable. They were just so nice. And sometimes when we do this job, it feels like we're like. Like transmitting this to just outer space. Like, you're like, is anyone actually gonna watch this? And then hearing all, like, the people talk about what the channel means to them or if they got through them, got them through, like a tough experience or just the camaraderie that it's brought to them, like. Like, it's really special. It's. It's really cool.
