That's.

A
I was. I was clapping.
B
My sister's gonna be there. Very excited. Hello, Alyssa.
C
Yeah.
B
Excited to see you. Okay. All right, let's talk this Bills team, 7 and 2 on the season. I had a stat. I don't know where it is, but when the Bills have started this season, seven and two or better in the last six instances, they have gone on to the AFC Championship game. Now that last time, of course, happening in 20. 20. 20.
C
Right.
B
I mean, it's an interesting stat. Like, what do you. What do you make of what that means?
C
I was not paying attention to you.
B
Look at me. You see what I put up with?
C
I was not paying attention. I was reading Fred's comment which says, what's up, everyone? Jenna, lovely as always. Mike is right, Dan is wrong. That was the comment. So that distracted me. I apologize.
B
That's funny. My stat was the last six times the Bills have started the season seven and two, they have gone to the AFC Championship game. They are 7 and 2 right now.
C
So I'm going to guess the majority of those happened back in the 90s and then happened most recently in 2020 season. Yes. The last time they were in the AFC Championship game. So there's absolutely.
B
He's totally dismissing.
A
Yeah, he has no idea.
B
He's like, I don't care.
C
No, I mean, I'm saying is the other ones happened in the 90s. It's a great record to begin the year.
A
That's what a stat is.
C
It is. There is a difference too. With only a single team getting a buy, the buy is helpful to make it to the Super Bowl. So let's see what happens with Kansas City. Whereas in the past times, two teams would get a buy to get into the playoffs. In the playoffs. So, yes, it's great. It's great to be 7 and 2. They have a lot of tough games coming up. They are fighting for position, which puts them in a spot. I think it's going to. When they get to the playoffs, I think it's going to all be about matchups. So wherever they finish is great. I said to you guys before, I would love to see, however the playoffs work out, that Kansas City and Baltimore end up playing each other.
B
Yeah.
C
Before they would play the Bills, take care of one of the two of them.
B
Yeah.
C
But yeah, hey, seven and two, eight and two would be better. See what happens with the Chiefs and. And play it from there. But hey, 2020 was a fantastic season for this team. Probably earlier than people thought to make it to the AFC title game. And they're trying to get back there and beyond. So 7 and 2 is a great start for that.
B
I think it's pretty interesting. I mean, it makes sense. I think if you were to tell me before this season started, the bills would be seven and two heading into week 10, I'd be like, really? I. I think I would be kind of surprised at what we expected to see because I just thought going into the season that how are they going to be able to make it work to the level that we have seen in years past?
A
I think what stands out to me is the way the. They have gotten their seven wins. They've all. While they've all been at times dominant to some respects, the fact that they're winning without playing great, the fact that this offense is starting to come together, but that it hasn't been this easy start from the ground, hit the ground running. Like, I haven't seen that. So the fact that they've pieced it together, sometimes with the run game, sometimes with the offensive line, sometimes with passing, like, sometimes with just Josh Allen magic, a Tyler Bass field goal. Good teams find ways to win. I know it's the dumb cliche we talk about all the time, but the fact that they won, when we talked about it after the. The Miami game, that was their se game. And to still find a way to win, that stands out to me.
B
Yeah, if you're.
A
Are we laughing at a comment?
B
No. If you're a Dolphins fan, I just. I would be pissed. They played the better game. They should have won.
A
Yeah.
B
And the Bills just did what the Bills did to the Dolphins.
A
So.
B
All right, let's talk a little injuries because that's obviously something to monitor as we head into Sunday against the cold. Now, Keon Coleman did not practice again on Thursday. That someone that Sean McDermott said earlier this week is going to be both day to day and also someone that they're watching throughout the season. We'll know more tomorrow. But he did not have a wrap on his hand. I do think that is important. He was working off to the side today at practice. I mean, that is definitely impactful. Dan.
A
Yeah, as at to this point, when we. When we talked to Sean on Wednesday, he said he would have further updates on Friday about the status. He would also say that there was still further evaluation that was taking place.
B
Yeah.
A
And classic Sean where he says, oh, we're gonna take it one day at a time. But he did say that it could be more than just this week kind of thing. So he. He walks that fine line between day to day and also week to week. So I don't. My impression, like, Keon doesn't play this week.
C
I'm with you on that. I wonder if it's. Well, if there was a need for something beyond just healing in terms of. Nobody likes to hear surgery, but sometimes that's what happens. It happened with Smoot. Right. He has to have surgery. That would be different. I think it could also be to see how he handles things. There is no indication up to when we're here live now and if you listen to this later on Thursday that he's ready, going to be ready to play. I don't think that's the case. I don't think they would rush him back on the field. I think if it's close, they're going to want to get him ready for Kansas City. Not that they don't need him this week, but I would be with you on this. I don't think he's playing okay.
B
Curtis Samuel, limited at practice. Amari Cooper, also limited at practice. Keon, like you said, I agree. I don't think he plays like. Will the Bills have wide receivers you.
C
Were mentioning Cooper's padding or wrap is substantial.
A
Yeah. And we saw it again on Thursday and it was the fact of. It's a soft cast is what I think he told reporters. And that the grip isn't the issue. It's the function of adjusting your wrists and kind of catching the ball that. That he has to get used to. So I also think that if you did have a grip issue with the football, you wouldn't tell the media that you were having trouble gripping the football because that would be.
B
It feels fair.
A
Like asking for, like, be like, yeah, yeah, I can't hang out of the ball. Like, I. I'm fumbling it all the time in practice. So that's something to look for. I think that's also. I would list him as doubtful for Sunday.
B
So what's interesting though is like, Curtis Samuel and Matt Collins were in like the non contact limited jerseys, whereas Cooper was in the regular practice jersey.
A
But Cooper still isn't catching balls in drills.
B
I. I agree. So it's like, what?
A
Right. I'm just.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah. We had other receivers in the organization that didn't catch balls anytime.
B
That's true.
C
I was gonna say never mind who.
B
Your pick for who was gonna have the most yards this season.
A
Oh. Oh. That was a shot at me.
C
Yes. At mvs.
B
Yeah.
C
You and your pal. Hey, listen, I had Mike Edwards As a starting safety. He got cut too. Anybody else we pick when I get released?
A
Yeah, we're in a hot streak here.
B
Kelvin Benjamin, like eight years ago. Those injuries, though, that is definitely something to monitor. We'll obviously know as we head into Sunday. But I'm a little worried about where this team is at injury wise. That being said, the Bills offense has been humming in these last three games. Really, they. They've been scoring 30 points. I, I feel like you've seen that control and calmness from Josh Allen in those big moments and we talked about it on our TV show. But just of where do you think he's at with this offense, Dan, and the relationship he has with Joe Brady?
A
Yeah, I've been one to say on the record several times that I love and respect Brian Dable more than certain members of my family. And I'm getting close with Joe Brady to that level because of the way that he has given Josh what I have been begging for since Ryan Dable left, which is answers to the question that the defenses poses. And free and easy throws. That's what we're seeing. Mike, what was the stat of his yards per attempt?
C
I think it was 3.9 was the average length of his passes.
A
Yeah.
C
And you know, past the line of scrimmage, which is crazy. I mean, that is nothing. But it also shows Josh's evolution. We see it. You see it whether you're in a press box or whether you're on the field, you see it guys open balls out. I mean, he does. We have seen less and less of what we saw a lot at the beginning of last season where there would be that frustration. Either he wasn't going to an outlet or wanted to look down the field. Josh would roll out, he'd wait, try to maybe try to force it, chuck it out of bounds, whatever it was. That's not the case this year.
A
No.
C
He is comfortable.
B
He is.
C
He is. And it is also nice when you throw it to players who one, catch the ball and then two run with it afterward. Because I checked with the league that was legal before this season, that you can catch it and run farther and the players have done it.
A
That's big news.
C
It is, right?
A
News.
C
It is.
B
I mean, that, that has been something, though we joke like that has been absent from this Bill's offense many years. And so to see that you have. It's all coming together in terms of Josh not having to. To try to force throws that where, you know, some of those low percentage things he can take what's Underneath, he can be patient and then he can rely on players to break three, break free and add to what this offense needs to do.
A
Here's the stat.
B
Complimentary.
A
Yeah. 59 of Josh Allen passing yards have come after the catch this season.
B
That's nuts.
A
That is 13% higher than his highest over the last four years. Like, that is a game changer. And we joked around about in the TV show that, like, absent it was foreign an idea of. And partly that's more Khalil reps. That's partly because of Keon's physicality.
C
Yep.
A
All of those things are adding up to it. So this. This is the offense. And that's not just all Joe Brady, but what I was talking about and what the more I think about it is that when Josh used to go through progressions and it would be like, no, no, no. And then when he would get on his fourth one, it was like, well, nobody's open now. And now I have to try and do everything. The discipline that Brady has been able to instill in Josh. Josh didn't just wake up one morning during the offseason and go, I'm not going to turn the ball over. And there's a difference. Josh isn't scared. He has thrown passes that should have been intercepted that just weren't. It's the fact that it's not about making the best play. It's the right play. That's what Joe Brady has been preaching to him. That's what I've heard Dan Orlovsky talk time and time again about, I don't need you to make the special play. I need you to make the right play. Sometimes that right play may be a special play. Like, yeah, sometimes that may be required to hurdle over a defender. But right now, Josh is being disciplined. It's being efficient. And that's the scariest Josh Allen this NFL has seen.
B
Well, that's what's amazing, is Josh can do all the small stuff well. And then if you need him to, on third down, he can go off and hurdle someone and throw a ridiculous touchdown pass, fit it into a ridiculous window. There's a really good comment from Jason J. Saying Tom Brady has made a career off of short passes and yak. What would we talk about? Taking the cheese and how important that is.
C
But let's also be honest. This all works in large part because this team can run the football and run it effectively.
B
That's.
C
Oh, absolutely, it does. It works for the offensive line. Last week, he officially did. Did we make it official that he's Joined team run game.
B
But he had the caveat of only when it works.
C
Yeah, right. They can't run the football.
B
Only when it works do I like it. Oh, really? Isn't that convenient?
C
John McDermott. Credit to him. He's been pushing for this, I tell you, for the last few years. Name me a good offense in the NFL that isn't very effective running the football. There isn't one. The days of, like, chuck it around on every play. Even, you know, Atlanta can move the ball. They've got Bijan. They run the football. Obviously Detroit.
B
Yes.
C
Kansas City runs the football, especially on early downs. The similarities between the Bills and the Chiefs offenses are very, very close right now.
A
I said that two weeks ago when were sitting in the sports office and I said the Bills feel Chiefsy.
B
Yes. I said the win last week was Chiefsyn.
A
And you kind of were like, what do you mean? Like they're finding ways and it's different each week. One week it's a really good defensive performance. The next week they're running the ball really well.
B
The next week like it's Tyler Bass.
A
Yeah. They're kind of morphing their offense along with what their strengths are, but then to the weaknesses and making those in game adjustments, which we have harped on time and time again here on this channel. But all of that is. Is really blended nicely.
C
Yeah. And this is the type of game, Jenna, you mentioned all the, all the wide receivers. We don't, we don't know exactly how it's going to play out on Sunday with the guys who are hurt, you know, because it's not looking good. Coleman, Cooper, whatever it ends up being. But you can run the ball and they also use the backs in the pass game, especially the Ray Davis play, which is not something you're counting on. But he may made somebody miss and took it to the house. James Cook has been good. Did have the one drop, which was a costly one because that might have gone for six. Certainly we're going for a big gain.
B
Oh, my God. That was a hiccup. I don't know what happened.
C
Are you okay?
B
Yeah. I'm sorry. That's.
C
That was hilarious.
A
That was incredible.
B
I'm not.
C
That's the open.
A
There's the open.
B
I'm so sorry.
C
Was she on camera when that happened?
A
No, it was on you, but I quickly jumped back to the three.
C
Yeah.
B
I've never had that happen. I'm so sorry.
A
You've never hiccuped before?
B
No, not on camera. I feel like when you're on Camera, Camera. Like your body is like. Oh, it's fine.
A
You fight back. Some sneezes, too.
B
You almost sneezed today. Okay. I am so sorry. It was such an embarrassing.
C
Oh, you've embarrassed yourself way worse.
B
Yeah, no, that's fair.
A
Not high.
B
Not high or drunk.
A
Not high.
B
I've been with them the entire day.
A
Can confirm.
C
That's it.
B
I was just having.
A
Where were we?
B
Starbucks. I'm sorry.
C
We were just talking about how we've been right about the run game. And you are just joining the team.
A
So what's next?
B
You admitting that we were right?
A
I'm good.
C
Yeah.
B
You sure? It's nothing.
A
I'm good.
B
You want to add.
A
Oh, I was gonna add something. James Cook. Over 15. 15 and a half receiving yards this week. One of Uncle Dan's best bets.
C
Nice. I did want to ask you guys about this. We talk about the run game. The play that stood out last week and did not work was the called run for Josh. Yeah.
B
Yeah.
C
It feels funny now when they do that. And I don't. I don't love him. I love him. And ever like everybody does in scramble mode, when he takes off. Go ahead, try to play man against him. He will bury them when he decides to take off. I don't even mean when he sees something and takes the one step and goes right up the correct. I'm talking about that sort of that power sweep that they do. Don't love it. Don't want to see it.
A
Well, that was Dalton Kincaid on the edge having to block a defensive end, which again, blown up. There are plays that you can like that aren't executed well. That's not a play that's designed. Again, if you. I love it when they're like. Wide receivers can be great blockers. Matt Collins had a couple of really nice blocks and. And they can be parts of the running blocking game. But just put in Alec Anderson if you want to have an extra lineman. Yeah, like the best blocking tight end is still worse than the worst offensive lineman.
C
Yeah. Ralph Wilson senior just commented on that, by the way. Also, Collins Stewart said we need to frighten Jenna to clear those hiccups.
A
I think we're good.
B
That's fair. I feel like we're okay. I think I frightened myself with how bad that was.
A
Maybe the first person to just have. Ah, hiccup.
B
Ah, hiccup.
C
Single.
B
Yikes.
C
Yeah.
B
Someone said, I thought that was Paul Walker. Said, I thought it was one of my hens. Seriously. Got up and started towards the door.
A
Wait, the hens are in the house?
B
No, he's saying, oh, outside.
A
Maybe they're in the house.
B
I can't judge, so I can't. Okay. Run game. Josh running the ball. Yeah, you're right. It used to be like that was kind of the cheat code.
C
Yeah. But I just don't think it's.
A
I like the play. I don't like the formation and the play design. I like. I still want that to be a part. The. The QB power sweeps, the QB runs all of those things. It just needs to be set up where Dalton Kincaid isn't the guy blocking a defensive lineman.
C
Yeah, I, I'm with you. If you're going to run it, do it right. I just don't. I don't think they need it like they used to. I think they need.
B
I agree. I think they do it, though, to like, keep. Keep that on film.
C
Yeah.
B
Have that be an option. Something you need to account for all of those things. All right, let's talk run defense for the Bills because I think a lot of fans are really kind of scared about Jonathan Taylor and what he can do to this Bill's defense.
C
Jordan Phillips is back. It's gone.
A
No.
C
No. You don't think so?
B
I think this has been kind of the Achilles heel of this Bill's team for, I would say years, honestly. But credit to me. Credit to you for making that observation.
A
Yeah, this is something. This is one of the drums I've been banging this entire year, like going back to week two and three.
B
I feel like we've always talked about.
A
This though, but I feel like there was. But I feel like there was more concern about the safeties and, and how their play is. And Daquan Jones hasn't been good enough this season. He hasn't been good enough since he tore his pack back in London of last year. And because Daquan isn't the biggest defensive tackle and then you're next to Ed, who is an undersized defensive tackle who's more of a penetrator. Like those things. Like, there are issues with the size on the interior of the Bills defensive line, the way it's constructed. That's why you bring in a six foot six mountain of a human being of Jordan Phillips. Like, although I know there'll be comments, I know people will be listening this and saying pff. Says Jordan Phillips for his numbers in Dallas. He was the worst graded interior defensive lineman. And take PFF with a grain of salt. I'm just saying.
C
So take. The Dallas defense in total has been atrocious against the Rut Yes. I'm saying I didn't grade him. No. But Jordan Phillips, his time was very limited.
A
I understand that.
C
He's just there.
A
Yes.
C
I don't think it's going to fix. But by the way, how are you taking credit for this?
B
I was gonna say, I feel like.
A
I'm just saying since week three, I've been saying this has been an issue.
B
I think we've been saying for years that this has been an issue. I think there is two things. I think we've talked about how sometimes the Bills are willing to give up the run so that way they can protect the back.
C
Isn't that kind of what Taryn said?
B
Yeah, that's exactly what he said.
A
Yes. After the Miami game.
C
Right.
A
Which is trying to make team, you people. I don't think the average football fan understands all that goes into a game plan defensively of, hey, we're going to take this away. We're going to see if they will take what we will give them and we'll allow them this. Terran kind of said it after the Miami game. Because they have Waddle and because they have Hill and the passing attack, like, we're going to kind of understand that they're going to run the ball against us. And that's part of this Sean McDermott for a long time. Ben. But don't break, like guard every blade of grass, those kind of things. So they kind of rely, you know, resign themselves to. Yeah. A chain. And most are probably going to have a big game because we need to stop Hill and Waddle.
B
Yeah. Which makes sense. It's just sometimes when things can get out of hand. I just don't like that you're taking credit for it. Truly.
C
Where's the coins?
A
What? I mean, I think they're.
C
They're.
A
I think they're all in here. I think they all got emptied into here. We'll have to get more coins.
C
All right, I'm tossing one in because I interrupted Jenna just a second ago. I owned up to it.
B
I honestly didn't even register that.
A
Just white noise at this point.
B
Yeah.
C
That's what makes this game fascinating. Because if. If you're running the Colts, you should be trying to run the football. Quite honestly, this is a game Richardson should be playing, I'm telling you. Because they can run the football and he is effective running the ball. They were good on third downs. Once you made the move to Joe Flacco. You're going to want to throw the ball. They were terrible throwing the ball correct with the numbers, with Richardson, but it just is a weird dynamic and this. The Bills are not that. If you think about when they made this move against a blitz heavy Minnesota team and against a Bills team that can shut down passing games.
A
Yeah.
C
And you made this move. If you're the Colts with Richardson and Taylor and running the ball and being able to use a version of RPO that's tough to stop. He's a big kid who can run. They took that out of the game. So it'll be fascinating to see if the Colts say to themselves, well, we put Joe Flacco in the game, so damn it, we're going to throw the football. Great. That's great for the Bills, I would say if they decide they want to throw.
B
Yeah. I mean you saw obviously the Bills don't blitz as much as the Vikings do, but Joe Flacco is not nearly as mobile as obviously Anthony Richardson is. So.
C
Yeah.
B
I mean, I know it sounds silly but like he's a statue and we all know that. So. You're right. They're making themselves almost one dimensional. What?
A
Hot take.
B
It wasn't. I was just further.
A
Sorry.
B
Explaining.
A
No, I hear you.
C
I know. No, you are right. It's. They went from one end to the other. Drastically changed.
B
So annoying.
A
They drastically play that back. Let me tell you something.
B
I wasn't it like you guys are not gonna believe this, but Joe Flacco at 87 years old is not as fast as Anthony Richardson. You guys are so annoying.
C
Well, he's not. You are correct. But it's also a.
A
That is correct.
B
That is correct.
C
Of Shane Steichen in this offense and a lot of the people in with the Colts have been talking about.
A
Yeah. Turn your mic towards you a little bit.
C
Okay. Yes. This way. A lot of the people with the Colts have been talking about them making this move. The reason I keep bringing it up is what are they going to do this week? Are they going to try to prove it was the right move to go with Flacco and if that's the case, they're going to try to throw the football.
A
And Jonathan Taylor's numbers have been drastically different. I think it was like seven yards of carry with Richardson and it's been like four yards of carry with Flacco. Flaky.
C
It's not quite the same thing as when you have Lamar and Taylor, but it kind of resembles a thing because you have such a concern about this kid running the ball.
A
Yeah.
C
And you obviously Joe Flacco is not a good of a running quarterback as Anthony Richardson. Not Just scrambling. He doesn't run as well. But.
B
So you're saying.
C
But I just, I want. You know, the Colts are a weird organization like this. To me, it was a, I know you're saying is the time to try to make the playoffs and put Flacco in because he could do it. You drafted this kid. Now you, he's barely played. Maybe you think he stinks. Maybe you're going to just get rid of him at the end of the year.
A
It's just an, an odd move, especially when. Because I thought back because Josh was on the Pat McAfee show today and he was asked about Richardson and how would you handle this development and struggling your first year and all of these things. But Josh in 2018, Bean and McDermott and Dable understood they were not a playoff caliber team.
C
Right.
A
They were not trying to make the playoffs. And I think the Colts got caught up in that a little bit because this is a talented roster. They do have dudes and star players on this team. And when they were losing, they've lost every game by one possession. They're going, man, our quarterback is the 37th best passer in the league this year. That's a problem. And guess what? When Josh was under 50% and was really low, it didn't matter because he was just getting live reps. That's all that mattered that season because when Josh was out for four games, it was Derek Anderson who scored five, nine and six points in those three games. That like that's the difference where the way that you develop a young quarterback, there's no perfect formula for doing it, but there is a incorrect formula. And right now it looks like the Colts unfortunately are in that spot.
C
Yeah. Keith Davis mentions the idea of Richardson saying he was tired.
A
That's awful.
C
It's just he had a right to be tired because he was carrying around a 300 pound guy. But as a quarterback, I have never seen a quarterback tap out of the game.
A
Never.
C
We do see it in other positions. You see it from running backs, you see it from wide receivers, but their position is different. It's somewhat of a rotation during the game. You don't see a lineman tap. You don't see, you don't see quarterbacks.
B
And I think that's kind of the difference here is that the Bills, Brandon Bean, Sean McDermott, Brian Dable all had belief in Josh Allen. And I think obviously by making this move, they do not believe that Anthony Richardson is the player that can lead this franchise down the line. Which, I mean, I'm curious To see how things will then play out. Like what this will look like. Will they try to trade him? I mean, not now, obviously, but like what things will look like as the season progresses and goes into next year.
C
You mentioned the dudes they have on this team. Downs is a player. Yep, absolutely.
A
Pittman.
C
Pittman is hurt.
A
He's hurt. They thought he was going to go on IR with his back injury. He missed like one game. They were stunned that he came back. He is not the guy that caught 117 passes last year, like with Gardner Minshew. He's a dude.
C
Yeah. You know, Ralph Wilson Sr. Again says lose a locker room that way. It is an odd dynamic with a lot of young players.
A
Yeah.
C
Like, they really like Richardson and I think there were some that were a little taken aback that they would pull him as quickly as they did, but they made that decision to do it. So we'll see if this is a longer term thing, but it is for Sunday. It is with the Bills and the Colts. And that's all you're worried about right now? Hey, I'm not saying Flacco couldn't go out there and start chucking it around and make plays. He does throw. Josh even talked about he does throw a beautiful football.
A
Like he prettiest spiral.
C
He really can let it go.
B
That's not a Matthew Stafford.
A
Yeah, it's up there.
B
Yeah.
A
Or a Matt Liner in college with the two lines of the football.
C
Excuse me, former Buffalo Bill Matt. That's right. Okay.
A
Also, I apologize. It was snarky of us. We are a family here. It was just too funny of a comment.
B
No, it's fair. That's fine.
A
I apologize.
C
I apologize for interrupting and you apologize for being us.
A
Well, I looked at you and you had the look of like.
B
Which so you didn't just there. Sometimes you guys say everything. So it's hard to have a comment because you guys just talk so much. Annoying. Okay. Do we want to do superlives? There's people asking in the chat about Micah. Do we want to go into that?
C
Well, we can talk about it. I mean, they. They do have another roster.
A
Jenna goes first.
C
Yes.
B
Okay. So Luxer asking, can they still get Micah Hyde? So I think where we're at in this season, we had talked about earlier on in this year if Micah wants to come back, if there's a need, all this stuff, but we didn't think he would want to come back for training camp. I think now where we're at in the season, it has been established that the Bill Safeties are Taylor Rap and Demar Hamlin. They obviously sent away Mike Edwards. It's. It's. He's a non factor on this team. I think if Micah Hyde were to come back, he would have already been in the building because, let's be real, it takes a couple weeks to kind of amp yourself up. And also this defense does look different than how it did when Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde were back there. So at this point in the season, barring a major injury, which we've talked about, I foresee that Micah Hyde will be not on this Bill's roster. He's in San Diego. He's with his family. I think he always said he wanted to be a Bill. He wanted to. He never said the word retire, but he said if it's going to be coming back to play football, it's going to be for Buffalo. But I think where you're at in the season, where this team is at, I would be very surprised if Micah Hyde came back through the doors and.
C
So people are aware his contract was done. He spoke to us openly at the end of the year, like a man finishing his career.
A
Yep.
C
He didn't say it, but he was talking about all the people that had helped him in the building. And he was very comfortable in that conversation, though he never retired. It is not as if the Bills, like Mike, is calling him up and they're saying, no, I really do not think that's the case. I think they were waiting for him to say. Not waiting. They were saying, okay, if Micah says, hey, you need me, I'm ready. I think it would have been a different story. I just look at it now. I mean, I know some people are like, oh, after the buy and all these things, like, I mean, we're into November. The game is different now. And these guys that have gotten all these reps that have been playing and we're in camp, like, if a guy misses six weeks, it's one thing Michael would have not put on a uniform, done any football. And he. Does that mean he couldn't go out there on the field and play? Absolutely he could. It just doesn't feel like it's going to happen.
B
I agree. And this is an interesting question from Chris Spencer. Then why hasn't he retired yet? I think that is honestly an interesting point of, like, if he doesn't think he's gonna come back, why hasn't he retired? But I think where the. The tea leaves are leading is just right now at this point. I think this Bill's team is At a point where they. Not that they don't need Micah Hyde, but I just think where the team is at is such a so far along in the season that it would take a lot for him to come back.
C
That is a great question. There is the circumstances where you officially put in your papers for retirement. There are reasons based on your pension and all those things that players do it. And then you have to appeal back to the league. There was no particular reason for him to do it. Maybe he didn't think it was the right.
A
Maybe he.
C
Hey, the truth is maybe he is still considering it in some way.
A
We're not in his house.
C
We're not. No. That's not a building we're in.
B
It is interesting, though, because the Bills gave away Poyer's number 21 to Mike Edwards and they have not given it away. They have not given away 23. That is his locker also in the locker room. There is no one stuffing it. But I'm saying I think earlier on in the season, I think earlier on.
C
In the season, Poyer signed right away.
B
Yeah.
C
In free agency.
B
That's fair. I think earlier on in the season, even the. In my head, even the Bills were kind of like, yeah, maybe depending on how things shake out, if Michael wants to come back now, where they are at and how established the safeties are and what the defense looks like, I think now it's kind of like, okay, that, that time, that window has passed.
C
And you are saying that, and I agree with you about the safeties being established. There is people saying it and there's a lot of fans thinking it, that Michael walks right in and is better than Demar on the field. And he might very well be like, we don't know how he comes back. This team, it's, it's, it is about trust. Obviously, mentally, they know. Micah knows. I know you said the defense. It's still Micah Hyde in that safety position. In this defense, he would be able to do it, but the guy had a neck injury and he was definitely not too old to play.
A
Right.
C
I think he made a conscious decision. So let's see if any of that changes. But I'm not expecting it. Yeah.
A
And I look at the defenses specifically as it is 11 guys and you've. You, you tailored and built your offense. Because the Bills couldn't wait around for Micah. Rightfully so. And I don't think Micah was ever asking them to wait. They drafted a safety, they signed a safety. They knew they had Demar Hanlon coming back. They re signed Taylor Rap like the Bills made decisions because they had to because it's not fair to wait around for Micah. And Micah, it wouldn't have been fair for the Bills to wait around for him vice versa. But like when a quarterback like when the Colts make a switch to Joe Flacco from Anthony Richardson, they change their offense to tailor what is best for that position. And by doing so the Bills play more cover two safeties and split the fields in half. I've talked about it before they asked before. It was Poyer coming down into the box and Micah playing a free safety covering sideline to sideline. That is not what this defense is. This defense has adapted because of the players that they have. So while I'm sure Micah is vastly smart enough intellectually, technique wise, all of those things, this would be Micah learning to some respects a new defense that he has ever played in Buffalo. And Jordan Phillips and Quentin Jefferson, two guys the Bills brought in this week that were in NFL facilities and went through training camp but just weren't playing. Sean McDermott's like hey, pump the brakes. We got to get them up to game speed. Micah would have to be a very long ramp up period. They talked about ramping up Matt Milano and what that process is going to be like. There is a lot that would go into bringing back Micah Hyde than just simply he walks in the door and he's the better than Demar Hamlin and goes out in the field.
C
Yeah, K N let me see K H N F L and we'll go by what it was here says. I don't believe 2024 Mike is an upgrade on rap and Hamlin. I don't think so either. I agree and these guys have built a trust in being there all year and it but sometimes I think the boys have thought that it's a Bill's choice in the matter. Mike has got to say because even if they have five injuries.
A
Yeah.
C
Micah may be like I'm done fellas. Yeah, I'm not going to play.
B
So yeah, no, I agree. Heather Smith saying at this point of the Bills if the Bills need old heads to put them over the top, I'm concerned. It's an interesting comment.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. All right. We want to do since we're about we're a little over halfway through the NFL season we wanted to do our Bills superlatives. So let's start with most surprising for this season. Dan, I want to start with you.
A
Ray Davis. I didn't know exactly what to expect from a fourth round running back. He has brought a physicality to the run game that I haven't seen the Bills have since Fred Jackson. Like he brings a versatile, dynamic playmaker out of the backfield that also plays with power and seems to be. I'm not saying he's ready to be RB1, but he's better than Ty Johnson and I've been a fan of Ty Johnson and he brings a different perfect balance I think with James Cook, who I think is also having a solid season. But I think he's brought in more than I would have expected this year to a guy that coming. Like a lot of guys have good training camp. So we go, oh, like look at this what he's doing. And you go, well, like they're really not going to game plan. Ray Davis has become a part of the Bill's game plan and somebody that opposing defenses have to factor in and I did not see that coming.
C
Yeah, yeah. I think the one guy I would put on the list and I'm with you on Ray Davis, I think I would have him number one. I think Dorian Williams is a little better than I thought he was going to be. He's still got work to do. His physicality is off the charts. Yeah, he is an attacking player defensively, I don't know if he'll take that next step, but he certainly can play. He can play in this league. It is not like what they've had in the past. I think he's. I think I love. I'd like to see him. I can always say this with this type of player, be part of the pass rush at times. Maybe when Milano is back, maybe there was opportunities to get the three of them on the field which they don't play a lot of three linebacker sets.
A
Yeah.
C
For many reasons but to use them as part of a pass rush. But he surprised me certainly with his physicality in the game.
B
So I had. Because there's someone else I wanted to choose but I'm save him for another category. I. I picked James Cook. I think he's someone that you saw him and what success he could have this season. He obviously had some drops. He's had fumbles in the past. He had the drop against the Dolphins. I totally hear that. But I think he has been above where I was expecting him to be at this season. I think he's also added some physicality to his runs and some finishes as well. Something I didn't really know that he had in his toolbox. So I think for what the Bills what I expected out of the season, what we have seen so far there's still the opportunity to. To clean up things. Have some of those catches that we talked about. But from James Cook, he is playing above the level that I thought he would be at this season. And I think you've seen with the boost with both Cook and Ray Davis has meant this Bill's offense like it.
C
Yeah.
B
Mvp, not Josh Allen. Important caveat.
C
Go ahead.
B
Kloel Shakir.
C
Oh yeah.
B
You can tell when that guy that dude's not on the field.
A
Good point.
B
I think that he is the straw that stirs the drink. I think that he is the glue that keeps it all together. I think that he has been exactly what you wanted to see out of a guy that has had the only previous experience with Josh Allen throwing him a pass last season. He has just been so sure handed. He has been just so dependable and. And he has brought way more explosiveness than I think any of us really thought going into this season. Khil Shakir is my mvp.
C
Yeah. I mean I love what Shakira has done. I think his. He has shown me that he's got more upside than I than I thought he did coming in and he's been great. Do you have one? Because I have one.
A
Go ahead.
C
Connor McGovern.
A
Oh, I almost. I almost went.
B
Wow.
A
I almost went lineman.
C
I think the offensive line, the interior of the line has been better than what it has been in the past. And this is not a slight on Mitch because Connor was out there last year. But I think you know, remember in camp when it was like can't stand again get a snap going. And I think they have made this work. I really think they've made it work. And I think you have to give a lot of credit to McGovern taking on that role. Josh being very comfortable. Them being able to certainly run block effectively and taking that protection leader in protection on the offensive line role. I think McGovern's been really good. Yeah.
A
I almost went Dion. I almost went Dion with just being the anchor in the leader and it's tough because I'm trying to think of most valuable player players that have made impacts and have stats. I guess to me it's Bernard. I know he's missed time and maybe that's the easy one but he's just been so dynamic just like he's been the Khalil not named Josh that when he's not on the field you. You're kind of worried that's what makes.
C
Him because man, the drop off is strong.
A
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
And again especially with Milano Going down. And him also, like, I also see him as such a vocal leader, quiet trash talker, but a very vocal leader. Like low key, talks a lot of trash after hits and things like that. But he just seems to be like the heartbeat of the defense. Like he, how he goes is how the defense goes. So I've been impressed by that.
B
I think the chat is also having a great answer. Chris S. Moons Family fishing. Chris Spencer, Scott Blakely, Taryn Johnson. Yeah, Taryn Johnson made some. Made a big play against the Dolphins in the second half that kind of kickstarted the Bills turnaround. I think sometimes we take for granted what Taryn Johnson, what he means to that defense.
C
Yeah. But I, I think, Bernard, you can make an argument he's the second best player on the team.
A
I agree. There are two best players are captains.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
B
And I think that's on purpose. All right. Most disappointing.
C
I go with this one.
A
I got this.
C
Curtis Samuel.
B
Oh, honestly, there's options.
C
It's Curtis Samuel. I had him as my guy. He has been successful in the NFL. I thought he was always a good football player. I thought he'd get here and he would take off and it's been bad. Like it hasn't even been, you know, he had the one catch against the jets down the field that was kind of on a busted play. Maybe just because I'm personally disappointed, so invested because I picked that he would have the most yardage receiving and it's just been, it's been bad. It really has been. And here's a good week. If he's out there because he's been banged up, they need something out of him. Do you have confidence that they're going to get anything out of them?
A
But I think we've talked about it out here before and if not on the channel, we've talked about it like we're going to get to the end of the year press conference and we're going to go, Curtis was really banged up this year. Curtis was. Curtis was. We're going to hear exactly what we heard about whether it was Spencer Brown or Gabe Davis and well, maybe that's. And that's the case. Like he has popped up randomly throughout the season on the injury report, whether it was foot or ankle or shoulder pack, like all these things. He's just had one of those snake bitten seasons. So I guess I give that a little bit of a pass because I don't think he's anywhere near 100% not making an excuse. Just trying to point out the reasons of why he hasn't been good. To me, the no brainer is Dalton Kincaid. He has just been. And it's not that he's been bad, it's just he was supposed to be this focal point of the offense and he has been average. He has been an average tight end just like everybody else. He's a, he's just a guy. That's all he has been right now. He hasn't caught any downfield passes or any of that. He is just a guy. He is not that Travis Kelsey comparison. He is just a guy. And going into the season we were like him being just normal. Everybody talks about, well, if you, if you spread out his numbers and, and all these things, it hasn't been good enough.
C
I just think of Bean and McDermott calling him in and saying, we're not mad at you, we're just, we're disappointed.
B
Oh my God.
C
Which it is, it's disappointing.
A
He's, he's made plays. I'm not sitting there saying he's done nothing. He has been perfectly average.
B
Yeah, I think that's honestly fair.
A
But that's what's disappointing is that we all had this elite 100 catch guy a thousand yards for, for Duncan Cade. There's nobody like other players, Khalil Shakir, James Cook, other guys have stepped up and risen their game. Dalton has been exactly the same that we saw at the beginning of last year.
B
Like he makes some nice plays but you're like, I want more. Like you see the potential.
A
He makes a play and then he's non existent again for the, for a while.
C
Yeah. And this offense, you know, I don't know if you've heard but everybody eats is a better offense for him. I thought coming into this the concern would be, man, there's going to be so much focus on Kincaid that he's not going to be able to get as many passes. And then you watch the games and you're like, hey, guys are running open.
B
Yeah.
C
And he is, he's catching the ball, he is making plays. But his numbers are pretty mediocre.
A
Yeah, mediocre.
C
Yes.
B
My pick is mvs.
A
That's not.
B
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Honestly, I think you got options with this. I would say most disappointing. I would just say Ed Oliver. I wanted to say Von Miller, but he did nothing last year. So even what little he has done this year is still not as disappointing as a season ago. But I love Ed. You see the juice that he brings and that you see all the upside and how impactful he can Be getting pressure right up the middle and all this great stuff, but you just. You have not seen it enough this season. And when the Bills have struggled, it's because their defensive line has not been able to get pressure and has not been able to get after anyone. So I just think that Ed Oliver. I love the. The riding horses and I love all that, but I want to see more out of a guy that has. Was a former first round pick who has been resigned by Buffalo.
C
I need to see more from the super chat. Brian Harmon saying most disappointing is not getting Micah Parsons at the deadline. We thank you, by the way, for the. For the. Yeah, little extra there. Thank you. Not getting Micah Parsons. I don't think they were trading Micah Parsons, but hey, maybe you could take a shot in the off season. And most disappointing, about half of Dan's takes. He only said half.
B
Okay, that's kind of funny.
A
You laugh. You laughed too hard at.
B
That was kind of. Okay. Well, you said I was an idiot earlier.
C
I didn't say it.
A
I inferred it.
B
I was able to figure that out. Okay. Worst moment.
C
Oh, it's. To me, it's an easy one.
B
Texans game. What?
C
Yeah. Wait.
B
Yeah. No, What? What.
C
What's the worst moment? Baltimore.
B
Oh, the trick play.
C
The trick play that nearly got jobs.
B
That is killed. Yeah. Okay.
A
I have erased that from my memory. I had completely blocked it out.
C
Worst moment.
A
I was like, what?
C
Trick play, Terrible call. Terrible execution. Curtis Samuel, terrible execution. And then Josh went into his. Josh Moto. I'm gonna make something. And he almost got cut in half. Just every part of that was awful.
A
What thing? You.
B
Oh, sit up more.
A
Yeah, there you go. There you go, champ.
B
I have terrible posture.
A
If only we had a producer.
C
Come on, you gotta get ready for the wedding. Let's go.
B
I know posture. Yes. Okay.
A
There you go.
B
Mike is. Honestly, I don't think that you, like. That is the worst moment. That is. You're getting blown out. You start to have some positives. You're like, maybe this team can get back in it. You make that call, Josh Allen goes out wide, it goes terribly wrong. And that effectively killed any momentum, any rally you had. I was thinking like, Texans game. Yeah.
A
But again, because I remember, like, defending McDermott for obviously most of that. So, yeah, I'm. I think we're all in agreement there.
C
That was. That's.
B
Yeah.
C
The worst game. The worst moment of the game. And it almost got the quarterback injured. Yeah, it did kind of get him injured.
A
That's a trifecta.
B
Yeah, Pops Mafia worst Moment. Dan in the jugs machine.
C
That's.
B
That was good.
A
That was good.
B
That was good.
C
Pretty good.
A
Pretty good.
B
All right.
A
I don't know.
B
Let's finish this on a positive best moment.
C
So we. Okay, I went first the last time, so one of you guys.
A
So Jenna goes first here.
B
I think it's definitely recency bias. It's a thousand percent recency bias. But Tyler bass hitting the 61 yard game winning field goal, a guy that we have known has struggled throughout the season, even dating back to last season. Big moment on the line. He already had missed an extra point. He had another one. Knock off the upright, like, high pressure moment. He comes through, wins it. An emotional game over a divisional opponent. That was big. That was huge. It just happened. So it's definitely sticking in my mind, but I think that could be maybe the moment of the sand of like, okay, Bass has started to get things going again, and that's what this team hopes it can be.
C
I have two of them.
A
I have two.
C
You go with one and I'll go with one.
A
This is kind of like an off, off the radar kind of one. When Josh did that thing to that Dolphins linebacker when he looked at him like. And didn't even say anything, just. He tackled over something that just kind of looked at him like, who.
C
Who are you?
A
I don't. I don't even know your name. To me, that just. That just embodies the swagger and level of play Josh is on right now. That comfort level. It's him having fun. He said. He didn't even say anything. He was just talking about that in the Pat McAfee show that he, like, didn't say anything. He goes, I didn't trash talk. But the disrespectful, so good.
B
He's like, I talk. He goes.
A
He goes, disrespectful trash. Body language of just the. I don't know who you are. I'm Josh Allen. I own you. Miami in every sense of it. That to me was when you talk about leadership, and I know it's. That's unsportsmanlike and you don't want to see kids like, please have fun playing the game. All that stuff. That's me was my favorite moment.
C
Anytime people make the kids in this, this is. These are grown men playing the game, getting paid. It's different. One of mine is Josh. On another play, he got hurt. The hurdle in the Cardinals game.
A
Yes.
C
Spectacular lands on that hand, which has been an issue. Yeah. Most of the year. And my second favorite moment was Aaron Rodgers interception to end the jets game.
A
Yes.
C
I just. Just. Because it was Rogers in that game. Yeah, it was. It's a pivotal game in the bill season. Yeah.
B
Who had that? Was it DeMar?
C
Taryn Johnson?
A
I went back and did watch DeMar's.
B
First interception because that was. That was cool.
C
Was that in Miami?
B
I can't remember. It all blurs together.
C
No, I'm thinking I can see demar running. No, no, it was a home game.
B
Yeah, it was a home game.
A
I did go back and watch the handshake. And you had talked about Josh push or Aaron pushing the camera aside.
B
Yeah.
A
I went back and saw it again that there was a camera that was coming up to kind of get the underneath shot between them. And he just simply looks down like, get the camera out of here.
B
Yeah. You're talking about Aaron Rodgers at the end of the game. Him and Josh Allen doing the handshake in New York. Aaron Rodgers. There's a camera, like a nice television camera trying to get a shot. And he just goes like this.
A
And we stand with Matt Beauvais.
C
Yeah. Because he wants Channel 7's map of a. He once pushed him out of the way.
B
Yeah. It just was the end of a game. You gotta expect that. It wasn't like he was like right up here. You know what I mean? Like.
C
But it's because he was pissed off because they lost the game.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah. So that's another. Did you have another one?
A
No, that was okay. Well, I shot the bass one.
B
Shane Russell, thank you for this. The super tip. Hamlin's first interception was pretty special.
C
Yeah, that was nice.
B
I think that was. That was a really cool.
C
Was on Monday night because the idea was you did it on the Monday night game.
A
New York.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah. Okay. Credit to me.
C
Oh, no, no, it was okay.
B
Credit to me.
C
Go ahead.
B
Or do we want to open this?
A
Yeah, we got a gift. A gift.
B
We got a gift. Set it up.
A
So Mike Silva is a friend of the channel. I met him at the Bills Titans game. He also has two girls. We messaged back and forth. He wanted to send me something for a birthday present. So he sent it to me. But the caveat was I couldn't open it until it was on the pod because he said it was show related.
C
Oh, okay.
B
What do we think it is?
C
I don't know.
A
He asked for a T shirt size, so it's got to be a shirt.
B
Okay.
C
Okay.
B
So maybe. Oh, okay.
C
There's a note.
A
Happy belated. While I can appreciate a second to none cast like Buffalo. Plus, this is bad. I tend to appreciate good dads even more. From one toddler pop to another. You're making us proud. You got this in the bag. P. S. The cap isn't real. P. S. Congrats, Jen, on your engagement. Congrats, Mike, on the hall of fame.
C
That is very nice.
B
So sweet.
A
Well wrapped.
B
That paper is adorable. That is very, very kind.
A
This is well wrapped. Do not steam. Oh, it's. It's amazing.
B
Wait, let me see. Let me see.
C
Oh, he's got the word.
B
Hey. Oh, that's. Hey. Oh, my God. That is amazing.
A
What is it?
B
Synchronicity.
C
When hot takes come to fruition.
B
Oh, my God. It's so good.
A
This is amazing.
B
That is fantastic. So good.
C
Well done.
B
Wow. So good.
C
Well done.
A
I'm gonna wear this to elmos.
B
That's so good.
A
I really appreciate that, Mike.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah. That's awesome. That's a great shirt. People are commenting in Walter S. Great shirt. Mike Hardy. Mike Hart. Great gift. Ken waller. That's actually a good gift. That is a good gift.
A
Synchrosy phonetic spelling of it.
B
When hot takes come to fruition. Well done, Mike.
C
Very good.
B
Okay, pops mafia asking, what time is the live show? So it's on Wednesday, November 13th, at 7pm at Wayland Brewing in Orchard Park, New York.
C
Yes.
B
That's awesome.
A
That's a really cool shirt.
B
Yeah, that's really cool.
C
So we'll be there before, though, so if you get there a little earlier.
B
Yes.
C
Hang out and we'll see everybody.
B
Okay. So credit to me. Do you want to start?
C
You go ahead. We're letting you go first with everything.
B
Okay.
A
Show it off.
B
Okay. So if I win the bill's record, which Dan and I are currently tied in first place, the gentlemen have to do pilates. I've been doing pilates. Been trying to work out, getting ready for the wedding, and for the first time in my life, I have an arm muscle. It doesn't even. It's a. Look at that. Look. I do the contrast. You see that? And you're gonna make fun of me, but that is the most muscle tone that I've ever had in my entire life. The gun show, Pilates. Is that some fake female sport? All right, Ken, let's see you out there.
C
Hey, let me tell you something, Ken.
B
Yeah.
A
You don't want any part.
B
You won't learn today.
A
Believe that's what I thought about a jugs machine.
B
Yes. So I have.
C
I was this many days old when I learned. Pilates will kill me.
B
Yeah. Yes, exactly. Ken, you don't want to mess, believe me. So small muscles. I get it. But first time ever, having, like, the. That, like the guns, like a difference. So there's that. That's me.
C
Go ahead. No, no, it's your turn.
A
I don't got one.
B
Oh, my God.
A
All I've been swamped in is home projects. I've installed vanities and toilets and curtain rods.
C
Are you proud of yourself?
B
Sorry. Silva lining said, damn, you got some long arms. Wingspan. I got wings.
A
You know what?
C
I. I would say you and I save one for next week because that one was too good.
B
Okay. That is such a copout.
C
Well, mine was going to be more football related.
B
Credit to you. You didn't hiccup on this podcast.
A
Yeah, credit to me. I don't think my hot takes were that bad. Hey, credit to me. Uncle Dan's Best Bets has won four out of the last five weeks.
C
It's rolling.
B
Okay. We love it.
C
And the latest uncle dance will be out Friday morning. And credit to me. I apologize to Jenna without her actually even recognizing that I cut her off.
B
I really didn't see.
C
It's a new leaf.
A
It's just white noise for us.
B
Yeah.
C
And I really apologize to everybody that I wasn't paying attention to Jenna.
B
You were hot out the gate. You're like, oh.
C
All my years of being on the air, I have rarely been in a conversation where I've just had not a clue as to what the other person said. Head. And you were so specific with it that I was like, yeah. I was waiting for some clue to come back to it. Then I was like, I just gotta bail here. I have no idea what you said.
A
He just kept going. Yeah, the 90s.
C
Like, oh, no. Once I knew. I mean, let's be honest, that was the 90s.
A
Like, where is this going?
B
Like, 2020 was not that long ago.
C
I was thinking about how many times. I mean, their span between AFC championship games was the last Super Bowl.
B
Look at him. Until 2020, he's pulling a fates. He's trying to reverse his way out of this tape.
C
Credit to me. Credit to me. I covered all those championship games.
B
That is crazy.
C
Even the 2021, which sucked.
B
Did you go to that game?
C
Remember, I went out to Kansas City. We couldn't even go in the locker room. We were upstairs and I'm tired of going to Kansas City.
B
So tired of going to Kansas City.
C
Yeah. I. Dan and I will be in Indy. Two things. Elmo's.
B
Yeah. Credit to you. Get to eat St. Elmo.
C
Elmo's and.
A
Oh, my gosh. Michael just texted me and said, don't forget the gift.
B
Oh, yeah, so funny.
C
So he'll say it.
B
Yeah, tell him he'll say it.
C
We're watching it.
A
Oh, he says, thanks. That was awesome. Thanks for opening it on the pod. Made my day. It was like he was texting it as it was happening.
C
Look at that.
A
That's like a Truman show moment.
B
Yeah.
A
All right.
C
So, Dan, I want to ask you. We're going to St. Elmo's. We've talked about it before. Saturday, the night before the game. Do we revisit something else Saturday?
A
I have a timer on when we get to Elmo's.
C
What is it down to?
A
There's a timer. 2 days, 17 minutes and 28 seconds.
C
By the way, I'm in an Elmo's sort of a commercial.
A
Oh, yeah, Remember? Yeah.
C
So my buddy that works for the Patriots. Yeah, they were doing a bit on St. Elmo's, and he interviewed me about it, and I'm. I'm in a New England Patriots video about St. Elmo's.
A
We will have to see if scooters with depending on the temperature.
C
Oh, the last time we did scooters, the old man cruised in. The young man fell down.
A
Those scooters go faster than you think.
C
But at least I stayed around to make sure Dan was fine. No, you just go on.
A
And all he said was make sure you end your ride as Mike's gone.
C
Well, he did. All right, so let's see if we scooter.
A
So Mike, Sylvia Silva, the guy, that friend that gave us the shirt, is watching live. So again, thank you, Mike. That is an awesome, awesome shirt.
B
We appreciate it. That's so cool, Eric. See me saying, what kind of Sesame street is Elmos?
A
Funny. The best Steakhouse.
B
Elmos. I honestly think Parks and Rec, if you watch that show and Ron Swanson is obsessed with this steakhouse in indie. I think it plays off of St. Elmos.
C
Yes. Yeah. And yes, we will get the shrimp cocktail.
B
Yeah, the shrimp cocktail.
A
I got it. I got it late in the draft, too. It was a sneaky pick. An indoor game in November.
B
I know. Well, there were reasons why I picked a lot of late season games.
A
They were also the. I mean, you. You didn't want la. You didn't want Seattle.
B
I wanted Seattle. But LA is.
A
You don't want to go to la.
B
Do you want to go to la?
A
I mean, you can't go to la.
B
So that's why I had to pick la.
A
Yeah, we're we're getting close to baby watch.
C
Yeah.
B
Oh, just gotta make it through next weekend.
A
I just gotta get to Elmos.
C
That's it.
B
No next weekend though.
A
Yeah.
C
Oh, yeah, Chiefs.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.

Episode: What's RIGHT with the BILLS OFFENSE, what's WRONG with the DEFENSE and mid-season AWARDS
Date: November 8, 2024
Hosts: Mike Catalana, Jenna Cottrell, Dan Fetes
This episode dives into the Buffalo Bills’ 7–2 start to the season, analyzing what’s working with the offense, the lingering concerns with the defense—especially against the run—and issuing mid-season team awards. The hosts mix serious football discussion with banter, memorable moments, and a midseason review full of superlatives.
"They have a lot of tough games coming up... when they get to the playoffs, it’s going to all be about matchups."
— Mike (03:49)
Keon Coleman (WR):
Curtis Samuel & Amari Cooper:
Overall Concern:
"It’s not about making the best play, it’s the right play. That’s what Joe Brady has been preaching to him."
— Dan (12:43)
Yards After Catch (YAC):
Receiving Corps:
"They're kind of morphing their offense along with what their strengths are... all of that is really blended nicely."
— Dan (14:58)
Recurring Problem:
Philosophical Approach:
"There is a lot that would go into bringing back Micah Hyde than just simply he walks in the door and he's better than Demar Hamlin."
— Dan (35:28)
On Joe Brady’s effect on Allen:
“I need you to make the right play. Sometimes that right play may be a special play.”
— Dan (12:43)
On run-game resurgence:
"Name me a good offense in the NFL that isn't very effective running the football. There isn't one."
— Mike (14:01)
Hiccup Incident:
Jenna’s on-camera hiccup led to extended, light-hearted ribbing by her co-hosts—a rare, viral podcast moment (15:46–16:30).
On defensive run issues:
“I don’t think the average football fan understands all that goes into a game plan defensively…”
— Dan (21:15)
The episode delivers a thorough mid-season Bills review: highlighting adaptability and efficiency on offense, ongoing run defense struggles, and the importance of complementary football. The hosts break down player development, roster needs, and crucial moments with expertise and a distinctive WNY flavor—with all the laughter, passion, and candor that have become the show’s hallmark.
