Welcome to MAGA Mondays. I'm here with Will Sommer, who you can't see is wearing shorts.
Will Sommer
You know, Sam, I was biking in. I didn't have time to. You know, for me, punctuality is the most important thing in terms of delivering for the mega Monday audience. So, you know, it's. This is a classic news anchor look, too, right? Aren't they always wearing shorts?
Host
No. Beyond that, it's in direct violation of our employee handbook. And if you read the. If you read the letter of the handbook, you are subject to termination instantaneously. So it's been a good run, Will, but we gotta cut it sharp. We have a lot to talk about, everything from the world of sports to international affairs to clavicular. There is just a ton going on your boy John Solomon. We're going to touch on that, but we're going to start with Trump. Because if people didn't notice, the biggest sporting event in every four years happened yesterday. World Cup Final. What do you think of the match itself? I thought it was kind of boring, honestly.
Will Sommer
Yeah, you know, I. I didn't watch it myself. I was grocery shopping. I was leaving my house to go grocery shopping, and my neighbor was like, what are you doing? You know, you got to watch the World Cup. And I was like, oh, yeah. You know, you have these kind of parent weekends. Yeah. Everything's, you know, carefully orchestrated. But I did hear it was boring and. But, you know, it's. I feel like the World cup went off pretty well. You know, obviously, Cash Patel did a great job. He put out a video saying what a great job he did.
Host
We didn't even prep the video.
Will Sommer
Pretty amazing.
Host
I don't know if we could get that video prepped in the meantime, but that was pretty awesome.
Will Sommer
But. Yeah.
Host
But.
Will Sommer
Yeah. What was your take?
Host
Well, the game itself was like, you know, Spain's so methodical. They're so good. They're technically astute. They pass the ball so well. But when you have a game where it's like something like 23 shots to zero on goal. And that literally, Argentine did not have a chance until it was in extra time. And then it felt like if Argentina had won that game, I would have been really upset because they were just acting thuggish towards the end and they were trying to get to penalty kicks. By the end, I was excited that Spain had scored a goal. I was just excited about that. And I know this is going to sound like, you know, classic American, but whatever. It was pretty boring for the time being until they finally pulled it out at the very end. I would have been. Again, we've been really upset if Argentina pulled out because they were. They were playing very unethical football, let's put it.
Will Sommer
Well, they're kind of the bad boys, is. Is what I've heard.
Host
Okay. They had the bad boys, but that wasn't the highlight of the game.
Will Sommer
Well, I have a question for you. What did you think of Donald Trump's performance on Spain's team? Because that seems like, you know, I was kind of getting it secondhand. It seems like he was in the game.
Host
Yeah. So the big. The big winner, the guy who scored the final goal was Donald Trump, which is why he was there to celebrate at the very end. Okay, so this was. This was kind of a highlight in a way. First, Trump shows up at this event, and he's sitting in the box, and he loves going to these big sports events. And honestly, it's, you know, whatever. He likes sports, it's fine. I'm not gonna get too worked up about it. It is a little odd, and I saw some commentary about it, that all this tragedy is happening in the war in Iran, and he and his family are just taken in the festivities. And, you know, you kind of hearken back to the. The Bush era, where, you know, Bush was kind of shamed into not golfing because of what was going on in the Iraq war. Trump has no hesitation about that type of stuff. And then when the game ends, he goes on the field. Let's start with the booing, which was pre. You know, it was tough to tell, but the pool part said it was pretty loud. Couldn't get good audio of it. And then we found this clip this morning where the. The audio is pretty definitive. Like, he's getting really booed.
Will Sommer
They don't like him.
Host
Well, you know, he has gone out of his way. Piss off, basically, all these countries. Although Argentina.
Will Sommer
Well, he did save the Argentine economy, so hopefully they were a little nice. But the. But. But Spain certainly is a. He has sort of picked a fight with as One of our great enemies
Host
sort of is like a kind of an understatement. He's like, at one point, he's just like, we're cutting off all trade with Spain. He's like, that's it.
Will Sommer
That they're done.
Host
They're too lefty. But, yeah, I mean, like, what? I. I don't think he cares that much. Well, if he does care, probably, but it is obvious that he's going to get booed in these events. This is. He's really gone out of his way to piss off the rest of the world and insult everybody except for a few select countries who happen to not be that great at soccer. Like, Belarus was not hanging out there and playing. You know, the Saudis weren't there, so it's not. It's not a particularly great venue for him. Also, this is the New Jersey New York metropolitan area, so it's not great. Although I doubt, like, this is international flavor here. And then real. The really sort of insane stuff happens during the award ceremony. So to set this up, Spain wins, they have this big award ceremony. Obviously, they're going to lift the golden. They're going to lift the World cup trophy. They're going to go crazy. They call Trump to the stage to present some medals for some reason, and they have FIFA President Fantino up there who's presenting some medals. Everyone's waiting. And Donald Trump just lingers and lingers and lingers. Let's watch. Oh, my God. Get out of the shot.
Will Sommer
That's crazy.
Host
All right, so what'd you think of that?
Will Sommer
Well, yeah, so Gianni Infantino is kind of trying to pull him off. Trump kind of pats him like, I know we did it, brother. You know, I'm happy, too. Let's. Time for our big picture was crazy.
Host
The prior to that video, Trump's going around and shaking all the hands and. And the captain of the Spanish team is like, thank you.
Will Sommer
Thank you.
Host
And he, like, kind of gently nudges him along to get to the side of the stage. And let's put up the video again. You don't have to play the sound. I just want to watch. I'm going to do a little, like, commentary as we played, if we can do so. All right, so there's Trump. And pause it for a second. Pause it. Okay, go back a little bit, because Infantino comes in and he's, like, trying to get Trump off and looks like
Will Sommer
wrapping his head around Trump's way.
Host
He's like, come on. And Trump just kind of takes his right hand because Actually, you go. Meanwhile, all the Spanish players are just not even paying attention to this guy. They're waiting to celebrate. They've been waiting the entire time. Let's keep playing. And Trump just kind of like, now stop. Look at his back. His back.
Will Sommer
He very much gets back in the frame. Yeah,
Announcer
Look.
Host
And I just love. I wish we could do close ups because he's just sort of staring at the cameras. He knows all the cameras are right in front, but he's asymmetrical. His back is to the team, but his face is looking forward at the cameras and he's got this little Cheshire cat grin.
Will Sommer
He's doing the little stinker smile.
Host
So obviously this is. So there's two explanations here. One is, and just keep this picture up. One is this is intentional. Like, he knows and he wants to be in the shot. And I think there's history to suggest that it was Copa America. He did the same exact thing last year. The other is that he's just confused and has nowhere to go. Where do you come down?
Will Sommer
You know, it's a good question. I'm a little sympathetic to Trump here because I know. Well, no, I've been in situations. This is like one of my great nightmares is like, you know, when people are like, let's get together for a picture. And then I'll be like, well, it's a little weird for me to be in this picture with these people, but they seem to want me or something. And then they're kind of like, why don't you move a little to the side or something? You know, I've been in these situations. Other hand, he has a whole staff dedicated to telling him, like, okay, you're going to do this, so you're going to move out of the way. It's. I think he's doing it deliberately.
Host
Okay, yeah, obviously he's doing deliberately. Well, there, there's questions in on the Maga Internet about this. So, yeah, by and far, the, the, the common refrain I've seen among these Maga accounts is that the Spanish team was just so happy to have him there and they all shook his hand and they would just recognize the aura and how great he was, and they were. And this just shows that America is being respected again in the world stage. I, I've seen this in multiple Twitter accounts. And then if you read below on their replies, everyone's like, what the hell are you talking about? Like, clearly this was not the case. There was one account of. I don't know who this person is.
Will Sommer
Yeah, let me set this Up. So the, the griper accounts, however, were really like, trump will never recover from this. So let's pop one of these bad boys up. So this guy says, Kaiser rev. He's kind of like a Fuente's clipper. He says, bro, Trump will never recover from this crying rivers of tears emoji. And then there was another guy named a suka griper who said, you know, this is generational aura loss, essentially. So basically, these are guys I'm assuming are probably in their 20s who are just like, this is so embarrassing. You know, I. I will say, you know, you think about if Joe Biden had done this, you know, and, I mean, this is very reminiscent of these Biden moments where he would kind of like, randomly in, like, another delegation if there was like a diplomatic meeting or something like that. And Trump has had these instances where they're like, no, you got to sit over there, man. You're not part of the South Korean team. And it, it, it. So he kind of gets it, finds himself in these situations. In this case, I, I agree with you that, that it was deliberate.
Host
So that's funny you mentioned the Biden thing. I hadn't thought about the analogy, but the, the famous Biden Hollywood fundraiser when he came back from that long trip overseas, and there's a video of Obama kind of like, trying to get him off the stage, and that Obama's infantino in this case, and he's just sort of like, hey, all right, we gotta go, we gotta go. Except in Biden's case, I don't think he was, like, trying to kind of get in the photos or anything like that. I think Biden was just sort of a little bit exhausted and tired and didn't know where to go. Trump is just trying to stay there. If people were confused about whether Spain was excited or upset that Trump was crashing their photos, I think we got definitive evidence here. The Spanish team tweeted this following picture.
Will Sommer
You might Photoshop him.
Host
You. I mean, you look to the right, and he's not there. Now, it's possible that this came, like, later when he had meandered off finally. But if you put up the, the another photo, like, right beforehand. All right, go. Go back to the other one if we can.
Will Sommer
Yeah. So the Trump's in this one.
Host
Okay. And now he's gone now. I. I think they photoshopped him.
Will Sommer
It looks like the confetti is still in the air, which suggests to me that it was, like, pretty recent. Like, it's not like they just kind of hung out there. For another minute and took the shot. So I think they Photoshopped him out.
Host
It's possible that they just waited till he was out of the frame or they took a shot of him out of the frame. But if we go back to the last one, just quickly one more time. He's very. I mean, that he's so in the frame there. It's like, absolutely in the frame there. He did eventually leave. I. I'll say. So it's possible that this is not a Photoshop and they're just having fun with it. We do have the Cash Patel video, so Cash is. Let's just set this up a little bit.
Will Sommer
Another great insinuator with sports teams, obviously. He famously had the. The incident with the Olympic hockey team.
Host
Yeah, Cash. Cash went down to the. The locker room after the U.S. olympic hockey team won gold, and he started chugging beers and being like, these are my boys. They want me here. And they might have, actually, because Cash is super into hockey. Cash is in a lot of heat, obviously, for, you know, a whole host of things. Excessive travel, things like that. Hanging with this girl too much. I've never seen an FBI director take a victory lap for, like, not having
Will Sommer
people killed, but this is no mask sense, baby.
Host
Yeah.
Will Sommer
He's like.
Host
But Cash had a ready to go video. I mean, this was like. They didn't just crash on this thing, right? Like, this came out, like, several hours after the World cup was done. So they clearly had this thing ready to go, and they clearly were planning it out in case, like, the opportunity was there to do it. And it was where, literally, Cash gives himself an attaboy for doing his job. Let's watch the video we put on the largest sporting event in the history of the world. And everybody, including FIFA and the White House looks. The FBI, Torino agency partners, the dhs, figure out how to get six and a half million people into the US and into these games without a single major security incident. We have lived up to that measure because you guys have put in the time. It's truly, truly incredible.
Will Sommer
Very casual look about the preparation and the execution.
Host
It's been flawless.
Will Sommer
Wearing a, like a lululemon hoodie.
Host
Yeah. That is the amount of narcissism to put out a video where you're in the center of it for, like, every frame. Basically, we put on. Who's we? He didn't put on the sporting event.
Will Sommer
It's crazy. And I mean, it's not as though it's like, obviously, I'm sure it was a great undertaking, but also like all the other countries that have hosted the World cup in the past have managed to do this, as did, you know, Mexico and Canada at this time. I mean, it's very weird to be like, you know, Cash has done the unthinkable. He had a World Cup.
Host
Yeah. Or you don't have to take a victory lap for doing your job. It'd be like if I, you know, got your newsletter out on time on Monday and I was just like, we did it.
Will Sommer
Just video of you telling me what to do. You in center frame.
Host
We did it.
Will Sommer
But yeah, that actually deserves its own hype video.
Host
I did the unthinkable. People said it couldn't be done, but Will was edited and out by 6pm on a Monday. Unbelievable, these guys. I mean, congrat. It was a, I always say it was a great World Cup. I, I was super jazzed by a lot of it. I thought the final game kind of underwhelmed, but whatever that happens and I'm glad it went off without, without any incident. I find the need to take a victory lap for that ridiculous. I found Trump kind of lingering on stage. Totally ridiculous. But that's what you get with this administration.
Will Sommer
Yeah, I, I think, you know, I'm glad they, the government kept the focus on, you know, who really matters. Donald Trump and Cash Patel.
Host
The golden boot goes to Cash Patel. Tell the only other thing from this is Baron Trump. I just want to put up this photo of Baron, who's got a great, he is the, the tie. First of all, he's very tall, but he, he, he's decided to go full Donald with the long red tie.
Will Sommer
Is he have like a bruise on his head?
Host
No, I think he's just tall.
Clavicular
No.
Host
Okay. I don't think he's forehead. No, I don't think that's a bruise. He's got a long red tie, folks. He's, he's becoming his, his, his father completely. But, you know, five inches higher. Okay. Any final World cup memories that you want to, you want to talk about? Are you good?
Will Sommer
No, I, I, I loved every minute of it.
Host
Yeah, right. Especially where you're grocery shopping.
Will Sommer
The part, the part I, I will always remember was when Donald Trump caused a diplomatic incident in an attempt to cheat in the games, and then we lost. Anyway, I will say there is on
Host
a different sporting event and this is not a sports pocket, obviously. The British Open golf tournament was this weekend too. And Bryson Dechambeau, who is the trumpiest of all the golfers, he did a video with Trump during the campaign where they like competed in this little like gimmicky thing that Bryson does. And anyways, he shows he's at the White House Sports Council and all that stuff. Bryson got in trouble over the weekend because he also clearly cheated. He was patent down the tall grass, the fescue to improve his backswing on a shot and he was assessed a two stroke penalty. And instantaneously people are like, oh my God, Trump's going to try to intervene and get the penalty revoked because they're buddies. And it, look, and there are some reports, I don't think it's been confirmed, honestly, but there were some reports that Bryson was trying to call Trump up to like have him call the British Open officials to like get the penalty revoked, but it never materialized. So I guess Trump's like, there's an extent to how much Trump will involve himself in all these affairs. What do you think of the Trump sports curse? This idea that like, if Trump shows up, bad things happen for the host team or in this case, I believe it was reported that he, he thought Argentina was going to win?
Will Sommer
Well, you know, we saw this happen with the Knicks, obviously. I think it's probably true. I think he has kind of, you know, it's like, I, I, I think it's fair to say he has kind of bad vibes that he brings around with him. And you know, I think it, it, it's a sort of hex that he puts on you.
Host
Yeah, I agree. All right, well, let's move from the surreal to the serious. The war in Iran, horrible, horrible weekend. We've lost several other service members. I think the counts up to 17. There's one missing. The straight is completely closed. If maybe a dribble of boats getting through. There's tax this morning. There's no diplomatic off ramp. Things are going horribly. And I talked about with Mark hurling over the weekend. It just feels like there is a real escalatory problem ahead of us. Trump seems to be like, ah, we're good, don't worry, we're knocking the hell out of them. Everything's great. You know, I said four to six weeks, but now I'm in four to six months. But we're doing things differently and Mag kind of is like waking up to the idea that this is not going particularly well or like that Trump has been promising things that aren't maybe necessarily coming to fruition. So let's put up this tweet from your boy, Matt Van Swell. First of all, who is Matt Van Swell?
Will Sommer
Okay, really funny name. He's a guy who lives in North Carolina. And people may remember the big hurricane, I believe, the big flood there a few years back. And he got kind of. He's just like a guy on Twitter. And he got kind of radicalized against Biden because FEMA was saying things like, no, you can't run like wildcat helicopter rescue missions. We have to figure out how we're going to use this airspace supplies in. And so that made him really turn against Biden. He became like this MAGA Twitter figure. And now he's an interesting guy because he reads as like, you know, I'm a normal guy. I'm like a common, common sense kind of guy. But he gets pretty into conspiracy theories. Not in this case, but. But he. He's just kind of become a MAGA figure because of that.
Host
Yeah, this is a case where someone got a little taste of the MAGA Internet and the dopamine that you get when you see your tweets take off, and then suddenly you're like, I need more of that. And the whole routine over and over and over again. But in this case, he probably stepped a little bit too far off the path. He writes, I'm confused, period. The USA has the most powerful military on earth. We've bombed the hell out of Iran for four months. Trump says their air force, Navy, and nearly all their missile capabilities are destroyed. So how is Iran still capable of hitting US Bases right now? Question mark, question mark, question mark. So one of two things. One is he thinks some. There's like, some conspiracy happening here, or is he, like, starting to question whether Trump maybe was full of shit? It's either one of those two.
Will Sommer
I think it's probably the latter. I. I think sometimes you have these cases where these, like, kind of mainline MAGA pundits are like, wait a minute. And then, you know, they kind of get whipped back in line in this case. I think what we're seeing here is that there's, you know, before the MoU, there was kind of this divide in MAGA between people who were, like, really pro Israel, like, let's go, Max. Let's send in ground troops. People like Laura Loomer, Mark Levin. Let's do it as hard as we can. Then you had people who are, like, really anti war, like Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Candace Owens. But then you had this big middle group of people who as were kind of like, I guess if Trump says, we're going to do a war, that's cool. But then as it dragged on and kind of became this quagmire and they start looking at the midterms. They're like, oh, my gosh, yes, let's do the mou. Let's just. I don't care what concessions we have to make. Let's just get this thing over with. Let's get it out of the headlines. Let's get. Let's get gas prices down. And now you're seeing that middle group, as the war kind of kicks back up again. They're saying, oh, my gosh, we can't do this.
Host
Right? But they don't ever get to the point where they're like, Trump was full of it, right? Like, he's not saying that. He's just like, I'm confused. And he won't take the jump. Because if you take the jump, then you lose your cred in that community. And he's tied to the cred. He's not the only one, too. This happened two other cases. Let's play Maria Bartrand first.
Will Sommer
CENTCOM says that there will be outsized action in retaliation. But I don't understand how it's possible that Iran has the capabilities to fight this way and continue to try to lash out at Gulf countries and US
Announcer
Military bases because the US has obliterated
Will Sommer
Iran's military, and the President continues to reiterate that.
Host
So close, she almost gets it. Obviously, Iran is not a obliterated, but also they're using drone technology, which is cheaper to produce, and our munitions are depleted because of what's happening. And so we have fewer interceptors to disrupt or intercept the Iranian drones. That's why what happened in Jordan over the weekend happened. So close to getting it. Unbelievably close, and I just wanted to get it. Then there's Joey Jones, also on Fox News. Let's play that.
Will Sommer
What we do understand very well is when two Americans are killed by an airstrike, that most Americans sit around and say, how's that even possible? Don't we have defensive weapons? Didn't we take out their missiles? So when we talk in hyperbole and we talk in grand statements, sometimes reality hits us in the face and we lose to Americans in Jordan, where most of us thought that wasn't really on the table anymore.
Announcer
Hmm,
Will Sommer
Good point, Joey. You know, this guy is a. To set him up, you know, he's like, as you can maybe tell for the accent, he's a very kind of straightforward MAGA guy. He's like, you know, we gotta let Donald Trump, you know, go wild on Iran. Typically, yeah. But in this case, even he is starting to say, well, Wait a minute, I thought we destroyed these bases.
Host
So what's your take on, like, the kind of mood of MAGA on the war right now? Because it is not going well. And it's. The MOU was a disaster. I mean, I, I'm a little. I said this to Mark Hertling, and maybe, you know, maybe you have a better sense of what's going on in that corner of the universe. But, like, that is a huge diplomatic failure. Okay. You spent a fair amount of time talking in Islamabad with these folks. You, you left it saying, this is a great agreement. We're going to end the war. This is ironclad. JD Vance was up there saying, you know, it was really amazing seeing how cool these Iranians are. They're actually moderate. And then it falls apart so spectacularly. There's more U.S. casualties. Price of gas is above $4. To me, that's a, that's an abject failure. And yet they're kind of skating around it as if, like, nothing happened. As if, like, oh, yeah, we always knew we could be back in this place. Don't they get dinged for this? Do they get dinged for this? Do the people on the maga, right, who wanted the MOU not say, hey, like, what happened here?
Will Sommer
You know, it's a good question. I feel like there's this, there's this rationalization that happens in the MAGA movement where when Donald Trump wants to be really hawkish, when he wants to, you know, have the Don Row doctrine or what have you, they're like, all right, Trump, let's do it. Let's be an imperialist power. And then when it fails, they go, oh, who cares about the rest of the world? You know, we're pulling back anyway. And so they can say, you know, ah, whatever. Like, you know, we had this terrible mou, and now apparently even that isn't going to work. And they, you know, who cares?
Host
Yeah, but they're not even pulling back. I mean, there was so. Because they're not. They're actually re engaging militarily. And there was an anti war faction in that. In that. In that part of the party who was inherently skeptical of the initial invasion of Iran. Now we're back in it, and you don't really hear as much from them anymore. Right. Like, I don't. Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't really see Megan Kelly going crazy or, or, you know, who are the other ones? You know?
Will Sommer
Yeah, I mean, we'll have to see, right? Because a lot of this kicked up over the weekend. And so, you know, the podcasters really have not weighed in yet. But I do think that I just feel like there's kind of like a war exhaustion in the party. And I think, like, you can only make people ultimately, like, I don't think these people are going to start, like, denouncing Trump. I mean, Megyn Kelly might, but, like, the. Sean Hannity is not going to come out and denounce Trump. But I think there's also this sense of, like, you can only expect people to follow the Trump line on something so many times before. They're just like, you know what? Let's just talk about something else today. And then you start losing kind of messaging power.
Host
It's war exhaustion. We're like, what, four or five months? That's not. That's nothing. That's nothing. This thing could go on for a lot longer. It feels like it does. I will say it does feel like everyone's just sort of like, I don't really want to talk about this anymore. I don't want to talk about it. I mean, Trump doesn't want to talk about it. Right? Like, he does. He. He. He'd much rather talk about the Save America act or voting fraud. And we'll get to that in a second. But I just, you know, the only people who are talking about it really are like, mtg. Let's put up her tweet if we can, because she. So Hegseth puts out, you know, you know, a sort of classic Hegseth tweet on, on the news that two more service members had passed, he said, godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve. And she says, sacrifice? What the are you talking about? They did not willingly sacrifice themselves. They were killed because of the war you, Trump and the admin are waging on behalf of a foreign country, Israel. That's a little too far, I think, but that's my own personal opinion. You mean their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war, and she's literally like, the only one out there who I, Who I see still banging the drums on this stuff.
Will Sommer
Yeah, I mean, I, I think, you know, sometimes you have to hand it to her. I'm very reluctant to do it, but. But, you know, the sacrifice. What the are you talking about? I mean, that really sums it up. You have these situations where these troops are kind of like sitting ducks. They're just. I mean, we know in the, the, Some of the prior casualty incidents, there were already security risks with the bases that were hit, and they're kind of just sitting out there and, you know, there doesn't seem to be much of a plan to protect them. There doesn't seem to be a plan to resolve this war. I mean, I think, you know, to hit on your earlier point, if there were kind of, if there was progress in the war, if it was like, we're taking Carg Island, I mean, I don't want to give Trump any ideas here, but, like, if people had a sense of, like, there was this campaign that was being waged, I think it would be more popular with the MAGA base. Instead, you have this thing we've all been dealing with where it's like, Is there an MoU? Is the ceasefire on? Oh, there's a ceasefire. Iran's hitting the tankers still. It's very hard to keep track of. And I think that makes people kind of tune out.
Host
And Trump is all over the place, too. I mean, he really, literally, he's on stage with the Spanish freaking football team, trying to mog them. And then he gives speeches on, you know, kind of goosed up election conspiracies and pushing for the SAVE act. And he's talking about, you know, all this other, that, like, has nothing of direct relevance to Iran. And so, yeah, it's like following a, a squirrel chasing acorns. It's nuttiness. He did give the speech, and we'll talk about this now, I suppose, but gave that speech on all these election conspiracies and it was so easily and quickly debunked by the own, by their own documentation that they put out and then by John Solomon. So first of all, talk a bit about Solomon. I don't know. We haven't talked about your piece on this, have we?
Will Sommer
No, we haven't.
Host
Okay.
Will Sommer
I haven't talked about this speech at all. And I'm really excited.
Host
Okay, I'm going to cede the floor to you. You take as much time as you. Because I want to pepper you with some solid questions when, when you're done. Okay.
Will Sommer
So obviously on Thursday, Donald Trump gave his much hyped, I don't know, maybe much hyped to me personally, speech on how the 2020 election was stolen. And sort of the architect here is a guy who, I think outside of the MAGA univers, very well known, a guy named John Solomon, a guy who, you know, came from this traditional reporting background at the Washington Post and the ap, but sort of over the past decade has become sort of a twisted shadow of a real reporter, a cruel parody of our industry in that he, he presents as a normal reporter, he wears suits, he's very serious. He's not like the typical lunatics who come up with election fraud stuff. But on the other hand, his stuff is, and I should say I also have a personal connection here because I was at the Hill when he was there and doing kind of getting his, his, his, his sea legs in this world. And he kind of comes up with these things and he's like, I've got, I've got him dead to rights. You know, Hillary Clinton sold all our uranium. And then you look at it and it's like, why? I don't think that's true at all. Why, why is this story being hyped up so much? And so last week I wrote a piece kind of running through his greatest hit. There it is. Yeah, I love this pseudo journalist. Destroy American democracy. That was really how I felt. So Uranium One, which is the idea that was kind of like the real Russia scandal. When the Mueller thing was kicking off, he was like, actually Hillary Clinton sold our stuff to our uranium to Russia. Not true. The, his big shining moment really was like the Ukraine situation where he was linked up with all these kind of like pro Putin or otherwise shady Ukrainians, and they were kind of concocting schemes together at the Trump Hotel, at the BLT stake. They were called the BLT team. This truly working on this story was like a real flashback to our days at the Daily Beast. All these characters, Dimitri Firtosz, Igor Fruman, and he was just like, muck deep in this stuff. And then during the impeachment, so he was, he was the reporter who would often present these things and then he would go on Hannity. And this was kind of like, like the, the core of the Ukraine counter narrative. But as it would come out, a lot of it was just totally wrong. His conflicts of interest were like, mind boggling. A lot of times he would quote this pair named Joe digenova and Victoria Tonsing, these two lawyers, these like MAGA lawyers who are married, by the way, they were not only representing a lot of parties he was quoting or he would quote them, but they were also his personal lawyers. I mean, so stuff that was like, so crazy. So, yeah, I, I, and then you
Host
can't quote your personal lawyer. My favorite was when he gave him a draft of the piece.
Will Sommer
Yeah, he gave him a draft of the piece. Another journalistic crime, not even getting into the, like, just straight up, like business ethics violations where he was like running the Hill TV network. And so like ProPublica had this story where it was like he got some ad deal from some conservative, like, grass, you know, quasi astroturf group. And then he would go into a Hill article and tell someone, you should add like a laudatory quote from these people who just bought ads from us. I mean, like, stuff that, like, it's just crazy. But, like the. Yeah, he gets up to a lot of antics.
Host
So how did he end up at the White House?
Will Sommer
Right. So now he has his own website. The Hill had too much oversight, which I. It did not. I'll tell you what, they made you an editor.
Host
Well, that's.
Will Sommer
That was the most. In your comments on that story, you left a thing that was like, wait, you were an editor at the Hill? And I was like, I was. I was. So anyways, so he left the Hill kind of under this cloud of scrutiny. They had this review, all his mischief. And so then he launched his own website where he could really call the shots, called Just the News, which, you know, lightly. And so ever since then, he's been like, he's a good guy to kind of launder. You give him. The administration will declassify documents. Oh, my God, I can't believe that Crossfire hurricane. The Russian investigation was so unfair to Trump. And he'll take it in like the most laudatory way for Trump or the. I would say, often a very skewed way. And then. But because he has this veneer of respectability. But that wasn't enough. So now he's had to become a White House employee. He's on the Elon Musk special government employee status, where he's there for, I think, 120 days. And he's in charge of this task force that is declassifying, supposedly digging up all the proof of misdeeds against Trump.
Host
But he's also still at Just the News.
Will Sommer
Yeah, and he's very much not resigned from Just the News. He did a video where he's like, like, I'm giving up my status as a special or, excuse me, as the editor in chief of Just the News. But I'm still going to do my Daily Show. I'm still going to be on Steve Bannon all the time. I'm still writing articles for Just the News. I saw this and I was like, why is he writing articles? So anyway, so the looks of it are just, like, mind boggling here. And so he's a.
Host
Just to be clear, he's a paid White House employee.
Will Sommer
Unpaid, unpaid. According to him. I will.
Host
But. But he is. He's a White House employee.
Will Sommer
Yeah.
Host
And so also reporting the news.
Will Sommer
So he's, he's declassifying stuff and then a lot of that stuff then ends up on just the news. Right. His website. And it's this like kind of ouroboros of ethical conflicts. Like, and there is like before we dive into the speech in that aspect, there's also kind of like a sort of more serious aspect here, which is his buddies Joe, Joe DiGenova and Victoria Tonsik are now working on a grand jury in Florida under this thing called, and this is a concept that I think is important to understand that we haven't talked about here, the grand conspiracy. Now the grand conspiracy is this concept that essentially all anti Trump activities taken by Justice Department, the CIA. And I say anti Trump things that did not redound to Trump's benefit, like investigating Russia ties, Ukraine stuff, all the way to the Jack Smith investigations. Jack Smith, yeah. And so all of that was part of a grand conspiracy so that you can, you know, avoid statues of limitations. A lot of the stuff is run out. You can have a venue in Florida, ideally in Judge Eileen Cannon's district, because you can link it to the Mar A Lago raid. So it's all wrapped up. It's a crazy idea. But his old buddies from Ukraine, the BLT team, they are now investigating perceived Trump enemies. And so Donald, or excuse me, John Solomon, is declassifying files to kind of speed this grand jury along to his
Host
own or ex personal lawyers. All right, so Trump gives this big speech on Thursday night. It's not that big a speech. He hyped it up as a big speech.
Will Sommer
Well, I always, I have to say, every time there's a big revelation, I'm like, oh my God, they're really going to do it. Not that I think the election was stolen, but like they'll really have like some credible thing they can hang their hat on and they never do it.
Host
You still feel that way even you
Will Sommer
know, whenever it's like a James o' Keefe thing or this, I'm just like, oh my gosh, what will the revelation be? And then it's like, like, yeah, I
Host
feel like that's a little loosing the football for you. Anyways, they put out a couple, I don't know what you want to call them. Revelations. Yeah. One was that China, China actually did interfere, but they didn't. They obtained all these voter rules, which they could do publicly, that Venezuela hacked our voting machines, which they didn't, but they had the technology only hack them in their country, that non citizens were voting in droves. The numbers they put out showed that they weren't. I mean, it was just sort of like one after another. And even Solomon and I don't think we have this clip of him and Von Hilliard, but iconic. I wish we do.
Will Sommer
It's great physical comedy. Yeah.
Host
Why don't you talk for a little bit? I'll see if Matt.
Will Sommer
John Solomon faces two issues as sort of like his new kind of more obvious skullduggery. Number one is, I think he still has this. I don't say shred of ethics or, like, integrity, but he basically, I think, struggles to flat out lie in the way that some other Trump officials do.
Host
Yeah, I see that he's got this. It's not this innocence about him, but there is like a sort of, you know, I'm just a humble journalist, and I don't want people to. He care. Put it this way, he cares enough that people in this industry think he's a journalist.
Will Sommer
I think that's right. Like, and so, you know, he's done these things that have been disproven, all this stuff, but he still has to act like, you know, he can't just, like, flat out lie like the press secretary might, for example. And so when you hit it with a question, and I feel like he has this kind of, like, earnest sense of trying to find out what's going on. And so he'll just be like, well, we're trying to get to the bottom of that. And so he also. The other challenge he's facing is he's constantly doing media appearances. And so, you know, in this case, this was kind of this thing before the speech, but he's also, like, always going on Steve Bannon's show. And so he's kind of, like, jousting. Steve Bannon will be like, you know, people in the White House say, you're a crackpot, John. And he's like, I'm not a crackpot. You're the crackpots. So he's kind of generating this neg content. So, yeah, let's play that.
Host
Well, hold on. Before. Before I play the video, I will say this because the video really gets to it, which is, he is a White House employee, but he's presenting himself as a journalist hired by the White House to dig into documents by the White House. So he's like, I'm just looking around at all the documents. I didn't have access to all these documents in my capacity adjust the news. Now I have all this access. I'm getting all these declassified Docs, you guys should be grateful. It's all. All in the name of transparency. I'm just trying to discover things as if he's just sort of this impartial investigative reporter who happens to be given White House access. So then after the speech, when it just kind of fizzles, he's approached in the White House front yard and he's asked about this stuff by Vaughn Hilliard. And this is what happens. Telling the President, you acknowledge that there were no votes changed in 2020.
Will Sommer
All I can acknowledge is what the intelligence shows. Right. I only know. No, the Intelligence Committee has zero evidence that someone has flipped. That a foreign power flipped a vote in 2020, 22, or 24.
Host
And you have no. You're able to.
Will Sommer
We're not. Through all the documents, you're able to
Host
acknowledge that Venezuela has not tampered with voting machines in the United States.
Will Sommer
No, the intelligence is very clear. They did it on their own machines. Why is it important that they did it on their machines? Their machine protocols are the same as America. Why? Because for a long time, they did. Exactly. That's a former Breitbart guy grabbing him. Let me. Let me. This is the first. But there's no intelligence.
Host
There is no intelligence at the election
Will Sommer
would have said that Donald Trump was president. Said that tonight.
Host
Adrian, you're burying yourself here.
Will Sommer
Get him out the backwards walk and, like, he's, like, trying to end it on a good note. It's so good. John.
Host
John, we gotta get you out. So after this happened, everyone was jumping on Solomon for basically admitting that they had nothing. And he kind of, like, had a. Not a meltdown, but he was going out. He was going off online.
Will Sommer
Yeah, let's. Let's take a look.
Host
Well, no, I don't know if we have that. Talk about his tweeting since then.
Will Sommer
Yeah. So, I mean, he's doing a lot of this. Like, you fools. Can't you see the importance of this? Like, they. They. You know, he's saying, like. Like, look, no vote totals were changed. I guess we're going to talk about Venezuelan machines. It has no relevance to us. And then you almost want Von Hilliard there to say, why the fuck are we here, man? What is the point of this? Is this a presidential address? And then the part that also killed me is when he goes. We're still researching, we're still looking into this. And it's like, this is. Why did you get Stitch imaginable? It's the presidential address. Could you wait a week? How much more time do you Need.
Host
It's like just. Trump had to go. I wasn't done looking through the dogs, but he really had to go.
Will Sommer
Go.
Host
Anyways, as I was saying, he. Salman's going off on Twitter at his critics since then. Among those that he criticized was Barry Weiss. If we can pull this up.
Will Sommer
Oh, yes.
Host
Yeah. Hey, Barry Weiss. When Biden Admin announced China obtained 40 million of Great Britain's publicly available voter files at CBS News covered it. Seriously. But when DJT announced China got 240 million of Americans voter files, your team dismissed it like it was no big deal. Why? He then corrected himself to note that it was actually 220 million. It's not the point, really, but yeah. So he's having a mini meltdown, I
Will Sommer
think, on Twitter at the point where you're complaining that Barry Weiss and CBS News are not giving you a fair shake. I mean, he actually, before the speech he went on, Tony decouple interviewed him. And look, I mean, they didn't play like clown music or anything. I mean, they. They, I think, gave him as fair a shake more than he deserves, to be frank. And the idea that now he's like Barry Weiss, you know, you're. You're part of the twisted msm.
Host
It's crazy. Yeah, Tony. Tony started his broadcast by saying like, something like, frankly, we have to acknowledge that a lot of this is just not supported by evidence. So I think that they really got his goat. Okay, a couple more things we gotta get to, and then we gotta get out of here. The Tate brothers. What happened? Arrested.
Will Sommer
Arrested. Cuffed. Yes. So this is Andrew and Tristan Tate. They were in Florida for, I believe they were hosting a bare knuckle boxing match. Nice.
Host
Yeah.
Will Sommer
Yes. And I mean, these guys, you know, they're the Trump administration, very close to them. We had officials intervening to, you know, get their devices back when they were seized, I think last year in Florida. Ron DeSantis really wants. Unfortunately for DeSantis, the Tate brothers can only exist in Florida in the United States because they are. It is the natural environment for them. But he doesn't want anything to do. And so they're. They're like, well, we got to be in Florida.
Host
No other state that actually fits their aura.
Will Sommer
I mean, it's a perfect match.
Host
I feel like Arizona could be there.
Will Sommer
That's.
Host
There's something crazy.
Will Sommer
Arizona, yeah. Vegas, certainly. I. I think Vegas is a little upscale for those two. And so you have. You have them getting arrested in these just like comical Tate brothers outfits.
Host
Oh, my God, they're so bad.
Will Sommer
Basically, what this all relates to is, you know, obviously we know they're, they're facing some charges or there's kind of a twisted legal history in Romania. They're also now in the uk. We've known for a while there were investigations into them. And now the, the, after this arrest, the UK came out and said, well, you know, this is, you know, these are some new charges of, you know, sexual assault and rape and interestingly, you know, child or extreme pornography. And I think that's the first we've heard of that. Hopefully, you know, I don't know. Hopefully these guys are up to their necks in, you know, webcam, you know, exploitation. And, and so I, you know, we'll have to see what the, what the exact situation is. The UK frustratingly, has moved very slow here in terms of actually finding out what the situation is.
Host
But let me read what we have on the details of the crime. It says the cps, I believe that's the Crown Prosecution Service, has decided to prosecute Andrew Tate, 39, with seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking of for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges for offenses relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. The CPS has decided to prosecute Tristan Tate, 38, with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The offending is alleged to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017. The suspects were arrested by the U.S. marshal Service in the United States of America on July 18, 2026, following their arrests in the U.S. prosecutors will be seeking extradition in relation to the original 21 charges and the further charges which we have decided to prosecute. So I think the interesting thing is here is we cooperated with the extradition. Right?
Will Sommer
Well, this is interesting. Yes. And I think the Tate brothers lawyer, a guy named Joseph McBride, who is a big deal with January 6th defendants, you know, he came out and said, you know, not only is this a travesty of justice, but this was approved by a low level DOJ appointee. And we're gonna, the Trump administration is gonna look at this and we're gonna get this overturned. Now, how much does Trump want to intervene? I mean, you know, I say these, these are pretty bad guys. I don't know. Trump wants to help them. Well, he's helped a lot of bad guys, so I will have to see. I, I, I, you know, someone was looking at the Bureau of Prisons lockup list and indeed, you Know, the Tates are listed, so I mean, they're currently in custody, but we'll have to see how this goes.
Host
There's a lot of, you know, people who have willingly associated with these brothers. We have a Trump envoy who. Or Trump's special envoy, Paolo Zampoli. Don't know who the hell that is, but you might. There's this picture we have of Representative Wesley Hunt, if we can put that up. There he is, Wesley in his three piece suit. Sick. Who on the maga, right, has also been willing to cozy up to these brothers?
Will Sommer
You know, Tucker Carlson had, had had Andrew Tate on his show. Alina Haba had said that, right? She was. And like, what, what, what is worth always considering about the Tates is that they were not big deals relatively in the American right before their human trafficking charges in Romania. When they were arrested, I wrote, I wrote the first American story about it. And I had to kind of like,
Host
you're like fucking Cash Patel here. Actually, this. Let's make a video.
Will Sommer
I was there, I said, take them away, boys. You know, so the, the. But, but at the time, and the reason I bring this up is that I had to look and I was like, okay. They went to the Trump Hotel once. They were with mostly kind of other British influencers. There were like a couple kind of right wing people they hung out with. But, but it was not like these guys were like just enormous MAGA figures. After the human trafficking stuff. That's when the American right really embraced them. And that is what I find truly disturbing because you might say some of these people, it's like, oh, I didn't know they were such bad guys. I just took a picture with them at dinner and now they've been charged. I want nothing to do with them. But actually they've only gotten bigger. You know, again, Alina Haba, I think just last year she said, you know, I'm a big fan of Andrew Tate and his work. Really, you know, and that was when she was up to be U.S. attorney of New Jersey. You know, that's when, you know, these guys are, you know, facing a lot of criminal allegations.
Host
Yeah, these guys are no good. We have video of Haba. Let's play it.
Clavicular
Hey.
Will Sommer
Hello, Alita.
Announcer
Hi. Nice to meet you. I'm a big fan.
Host
Well, nice to meet you.
Announcer
I'm a fan.
Host
You're the one saving Trump.
Will Sommer
You're doing more important work than me.
Announcer
America, America, not just Trump. And I agree with everything you just said. I think that your anger is the same that President Trump has for our country and the time is now for us to stop being wimps. I think that's exactly the right sentiment. And I also have to say that I sympathize with you because I think think you go through.
Host
Oh, actually, well, sympathize with him. I shouldn't have.
Will Sommer
That's crazy, I think, because I think she's about to say like, you know, you went through the same law fair essentially as, as Donald Trump.
Host
And it's like, really, I shouldn't have cut that off. That was.
Announcer
Show me the person. I'll find the crime that President Trump has gone through. And
Will Sommer
yeah, there you go.
Host
I'm glad I rescued that last two seconds. Yeah, that's having that having uttered those words would not be, I would be a little bit ashamed at this point. But yeah. Damn. So what happens to the Tates now? Do we know?
Will Sommer
Well, I mean, they're in. We'll have to see if there's a, you know, how the extradition goes. I feel like they could probably delay it a while.
Host
You know, what's, what's, Desantis has always been sort of skeptical of these brothers. Right. I feel like that's when they first
Will Sommer
touched down back in the US Last year. He, after the administration, the Trump administration helped get the charges in Romania dropped, stopped. He was just like, you know, I, these guys have no place in Florida. I want them out of here.
Host
Sometimes you can smell something rotten and it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. All right, our last topic, sadly of the day, is your boy clavicular. I'm a little bit surprised he won on Hannity's podcast like this doesn't seem like the, the type of audience that he wants the court that said, if he, if he wants to come on Mega Mondays, I would absolute him in a second. We can have you and him just sort of look smacks each other. But he's talking to hand. I wonder if he wears shorts.
Will Sommer
He famous.
Host
He does not wear shorts to work.
Will Sommer
He memorably, you know, vowed to mog me at the White House correspondents dinner weekend. Right. And, and you know, that still happening.
Host
When is the White House correspondence? It's got to be soon, right?
Will Sommer
It's relatively soon. And so he vowed to mog me and then he overdosed the night before and so I won by default. And so he didn't make it up to D.C. so, you know, I, I, I, I'm not going to be available for a rematch. Let's just say the White House correspondence
Host
dinner is technically rescheduled for this Friday. I had no idea.
Will Sommer
Oh, my God. Really? This Friday?
Host
Yeah, July 24th. That's what the, the AI overview of Google is telling me. And yeah, no, that's. That. That is according to politico.com too rescheduled for July 24th. You know what's really great about this is that Trump just subpoenaed a bunch of New York Times reporters, so it should be up there giving him his kudos for being a good shepherd of the First Amendment. Excited for that. Are there going to be any parties? No, I hope not.
Will Sommer
My sense is it's a bit more of a subdued affair this time.
Host
Yeah, yeah. You would imagine after what happened last time. That's too bad, because I wanted you in Clavicular to have your meetup. He did go on Hannity's podcast, as I mentioned. We're gonna play. Let's play the boring clip first and then we'll do the fun clip second. Boring clip first. Over a million followers. Can we pause it for a second?
Will Sommer
Is this slowed down or something?
Host
Yeah. Are we at 0.75 speed? Can we start again? Can we just.
Will Sommer
Followers.
Host
Can we start it at normal speed? Well over a million followers.
Will Sommer
Do you have a goal?
Host
What a question.
Clavicular
No, I would say I'm just kind of taking this one step at a time because it does feel good when you're doing your IRL streams and so many people come up and say, like, hey, thank you, man. Like, you really changed my life. Like, I lost, you know, 60 pounds and I, I, I did this and, you know, now I have a girlfriend. Now I, I feel better just every time I step outside. So it is rewarding.
Will Sommer
And in that sense, Clavicular. Should share some of his meth with Sean Hannity, I think, get him a little more energized. Do you think?
Host
Can we put on the screen back up and just the part where it's just clavicular? Because I want to, I'm like, obsessed with the background for Hannity now. We gotta get back a little bit. Where we go.
Will Sommer
This is so this is the Hannity podcast.
Host
Yes, I keep going. I want the, the wide shot of clavicular if we can. Yeah, there we go. Okay. What? It's like the most generic possible. Hey, let's put up an American flag. You know what we really need? We need a street light. We gotta get one of those. Oh, and make it turn right. Because this, just to be clear, this is.
Will Sommer
Oh, that's pretty good. That's pretty good, honestly.
Host
And you know what? The dartboard just lying there and some pool sticks. It's like this place doesn't exist. This place doesn't. It's a hangout with Sean Hannity. All right, sorry, guys. Go ahead. Will speaking.
Will Sommer
Oh, I, I was just gonna say, yeah, I mean, I. That's very low effort or low energy. Sean Hannity. And it struck me that, like, at the point where clavicular is like when I'm doing my IRL streams, you know, when I'm getting my super chats or whatever, and Sean Hannity's like, what am I doing?
Host
Yeah. Well, Hannity just seems like he's absolutely, like on some prescription drugs that have made him tired. Let's play the funnier one though, because this is great, is looks maxing.
Clavicular
So looks maxing is the most well rounded form of self improvement, just almost taking it to its logical conclusion. So that's going to include just traditional bodybuilding and fitness style stuff as well, as well as a new focus on sort of facial aesthetics. And that's been missing from a lot of like the male red pill stuff. And male self improvement was emphasis on the face.
Host
Do you agree? Were you not red pilled enough?
Will Sommer
The. Have you seen that meme picture where it's like the, like the 12 year old sitting around a table or that they're just like, you know, debating Fortnite or something. That's how this feels, right? It's like, well, you know, the male red pill, it had some obvious blind spots. Look, we all love Rolo Tomasi, you know, rattling off these red pill guys. And Hannity like, yes, of course, of course. This is a breakthrough.
Host
First of all, his facial aesthetics is like him hammering his cheekbones.
Will Sommer
Yeah, it's well rounded. It's a, it's a reasonable approach. You know, the smoking, the meth, getting a nose job that busts up your nose, that everyone hates all this stuff.
Host
Oh, my God. He should have done a number on handy. He should have put handy through like a weak core. This is what, this would have been better their content if he was like, I will do your routine for a week. Just have at it. And I would have watched that. This seems really sort of low energy. They need to load. They need to up the T level. Go to the Pete Hegseth boot camp and do more tea. All right, before we go, we finally got the pictures of the tape brothers in the ridiculous garb. Unbelievable arrest.
Will Sommer
Wow.
Host
I don't know which one's worse, honestly. Actually, I know which one's worse.
Will Sommer
So we got. Yeah, so. So let's do the less worse one. So we got Tristan Tate in. I guess he's shaving his head now in like a very tight three piece suit. What do you make of this?
Host
Well, it's. It's Florida. It's July. Like, there's no. Why are you in a three piece suit? Like all black three piece suit, like the, the.
Will Sommer
Well, he's the.
Host
Worth it.
Will Sommer
He's the classy brother. He's the, he's the one who's kind of like, like the dapper gentleman.
Host
Yeah, that looks just villainous almost in the stupid pocket square. I, I guess that's better than Andrew's look, but I would be deeply uncomfortable in a three piece suit in Florida in mid July. So let's talk about Andrew.
Will Sommer
Perfect to host a bare knuckle boxing match.
Host
Yeah, exactly.
Will Sommer
Yeah. So we've got Andrew, he's in a. I guess I would say a purple blouse with down to down.
Host
Is it a woman's blouse? Blouse. Is it a woman's blouse? There were.
Will Sommer
People were digging up some pictures from the TJ Maxx catalog. But, but I, you know that. So it's down to what, like your, your clavicle, your clavicular. What have you. And, and he's got some chains on. But, but the striking thing, you know, he's got some black leather slippers. I. I don't know if these are called pumps. And then, and then incredibly, incredibly. Yeah. Tell me about the, the pants.

And he was in like, basically what Tristan's wearing like a full suit, but like, like orange rayon. And so he was like comforting Andrew. And it's just like that. They're just like the, the guys who. They dress like crap and they go around and cause mischief.
Host
