Delaney Walker
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the locker room. There's a lot of big games we have in our life and there's some games you can legally say what the game is and there's other ones you can't. We don't know in this type of situation. So we're gonna refer to this one as the big game. The big game game. Lot of big games. This is the biggest game. Philadelphia Eagles vs. The Kansas City Chiefs. Will Compton has done it to himself again. He has jinxed himself. The Chiefs might be going after a three peat, but the run game of the Philadelphia Eagles. We are breaking down the AFC championship. We are breaking down the NFC championship. Maybe even a little whiteboard talk. As always, we have Will Compton. We have Delaney Walker and the man, the myth, the legend, the finger. Brian Baldinger joins us today. It is going to be a hell of a time. Big hugs, tiny kisses. Have a hell of a show.
Brian Baldinger
Welcome to the locker room. We are presented by Fireball Whiskey. So many things make football great. But you know what the best thing is? Kicking the living out of your rival. And there's absolutely no better feeling as an athlete or fan. And Fireball Whiskey is here to give you the the spark to ignite that rivalry all season long. Grab your football buddy, buy a round and reignite that rivalry flame. Championship weekend, boys. Boldy breakdowns. Welcome to the live.
Will Compton
Thank you. Welcome to the show.
Delaney Walker
Thanks, legend.
Will Compton
It's good to be here, man. Good day to be here.
Delaney Walker
There is nothing championship Sunday. There's nothing better as a player on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon. Getting done with practice, going, going on the Twitter, seeing one of your Brit. Really? Let me tell you something about 77 here. Let me tell you, watch the link drop anytime you would highlight every week. Delaney was on there every week. If I ever got blessed with a baldy breakdown, I would sit down, go home, show my wife.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, kind of him.
Will Compton
You know what's funny about that? You know what that's interesting to me about that. What you just said is like, you guys are getting all of that in your own film room. All the guys know, your teammates all know. Some fans might know. Probably not, though. Nobody's really getting inside the game right to that level. But you would think that just the organization behind you, Derek Henry going 99 behind you, you would think that would be enough. But sometimes you just need a little bit more verification, a little bit of a ju.
Brian Baldinger
It's the public.
Delaney Walker
It's a public recognition because every player falls victims to going to that search bar, typing their name in the Twitter, and then just getting absolutely assaulted by either your fans or opponent's fans. And as an offensive line, you sit there and it's like the whole thing about offensive lineman is you want to be seen, not heard, right? And so the only time your name should really be brought up is when you mess up. So when there's a guy like you, like, yeah, you go in the film room, coaches can pat you on the ass a little bit, depending on the type of coach you have, say, hey, this is a great play right here. And all the boys are like, yeah, you know, comp had a good game. Delaney, he played well. But when a guy like you, who's been around the game, who has the following and stuff like that, pulls it up, there is like a level of like, damn, maybe I am really doing something right. It's a great feeling.
Will Compton
It's the old. It's that old belief that, you know, all shit runs downhill. It just rolls right into the offensive line lap. Like, we gotta. I feel like sometimes you gotta fight that also. Defensive lineman, too. Delane like it. I feel like it all kind of goes into the trenches, good or bad. Usually it's bad.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. Yeah, usually it is bad.
Brian Baldinger
And you. You give a lot of context to the player you're talking about, too. To where the coach ain't gonna sit there and do that in front of all the players. They gotta keep you humble. You know that when you're doing two and three a day, you're gonna have a coach just talk.
Will Compton
You know what's funny about that one from Duke.
Brian Baldinger
Look at the physicality here from Baldi. One day your name's gonna be Baldy. Breakdowns, guys. Everybody watch this guy.
Will Compton
You know what's funny about that, though? Will the coaches come up to me Like, I do games every Sunday for national radio. So I'll get some of the assistant coaches, defensive line coaches, like, hey, I want to let you know, like the lineback coach from the Chiefs, because I give those guys so much credit, you know, because they're big. Leo Chanel, Drew Tranquil, Nick Bolton. And like, they're like, they play three linebackers, like, more than any other team in this whole league. Like, they can't get them off the field. And like, I just want to let you know that, you know, Leo really appreciates the things you say about him. Like, people just think he's just a big meathead out there, can't run. But, like, you kind of highlight some of the things he can do.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, they want you to do it. They want you to be the one to vocalize the Kansas City Chiefs defense, because they're not going to have. They're not going to go out publicly.
Taylor Lewan
No, definitely not. Why would they?
Delaney Walker
I mean, Kansas City's defense has been keeping them in games all year.
Will Compton
Two years in a row.
Delaney Walker
160 in one score game has a lot to do with the defense. But everybody wants to talk about Patrick Mahomes.
Will Compton
Right.
Delaney Walker
So you need a crusader like yourself.
Will Compton
There we go.
Delaney Walker
To pave the way. Defense.
Will Compton
I'll take it.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
Is that the game we want to start with Chiefs?
Delaney Walker
Dude, that game was the most interesting to me. So I kind of want to like, just. Let's get the NFC out of the way.
Brian Baldinger
Out of the way.
Delaney Walker
Let's get it out of the way.
Taylor Lewan
Like, people say that start to finish was super bowl already. That was everywhere.
Brian Baldinger
Because you get to see Josh Allen, you get to see Patrick Miles, the.
Delaney Walker
Chiefs, the Bills, and everybody going into that game.
Brian Baldinger
First super bowl of all time.
Delaney Walker
Everybody going into that game is like, the winner of this AFC Championship is probably going to win the super bowl.
Taylor Lewan
To win the super bowl correctly.
Delaney Walker
And then you won. Watch the NFC NFC Championship game. And if you don't know that the commanders, they're bad, you know, they're last in the. In all the statistic categories of defense being in the, in the, in the rushing category. It's like, yo, the Eagles might have a chance.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
But then you have spags on the other side that you're like, yo, this guy is going to put up the perfect game plan defense to eliminate the run game and have Hertz beat you, beat you with his arm.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
So, yeah, let's go. Let's go. NFC championship first. All right. Obviously, commanders fell.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, I mean, I look there, to me, they Were playing with house. With house money. They were playing like they've made it far. They exceeded expectations this year. You look at when they upset the Detroit Lions in Detroit, everybody's like, everybody's fired up for them. Oh, could they muster up some magic and beat the Eagles. But that game went. When they gave up over 50 points at 50 burger to Philly, it's kind of like, yeah, their luck kind of just ran out. You would have appreciated seeing a Detroit Lions team a little bit more in the NFC Championship because they're overall a better roster and a better outfit. It's like, you know, you're bummed. You're bummed that Washington couldn't pull off an upset. But at the end of the day, it's like they were. They were already exceeding expectations. Like, yeah, it sucks, but they have so much optimism.
Will Compton
I feel like, you know, when you get to each level, you go up in the playoffs, now you're at the championship level. Before you were at the divisional level, right? Like, Detroit's defense got exposed big time, right?
Brian Baldinger
Yeah.
Will Compton
Now, it didn't help that the offense turned over five times and they're constantly got in field position and a touchdown. But like, so you go up to the championship level and you just realize the Eagles defense is just that good. You can look at all the stats and say they're good, but then you watch him play. Zach Bond doesn't miss a tackle, does it?
Brian Baldinger
Not only doesn't miss a tackle, he trusts his instincts. Like just watching him as a second level player and watching him pull his trigger and not stop his feet going into the backfield and make plays.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
Your full speed, your trust has to be at a different level.
Will Compton
What I want to ask you, Will, is like, so Zach Barnes in New Orleans for four years, they can't really figure out how to play. They got Demario Davis, they've got Warner, they got different guys, but he's just sitting there as like a reserve special teams guy. And for whatever reason, Eagles say, let's give this guy a shot. Like all these Wisconsin linebackers can flat out play all of them, right? And they all been trained the right way, trained inside, outside. You go through the whole league. These are all good players. This kid from day one in Philly fixed that position. It's unbelievable.
Brian Baldinger
He's Pro Bowler.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
Did he make the All Pro?
Will Compton
Yeah.
Taylor Lewan
See?
Brian Baldinger
All Pro.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, I think he made all.
Brian Baldinger
Remember Chris Borland?
Will Compton
Yeah. Yeah. There we go.
Brian Baldinger
Talk about playing inside.
Taylor Lewan
I mean, he had head issues. I mean, God, nothing you can do about that when you got concussions constantly occurring and.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, there's, there's no doubt that he would have been.
Will Compton
No, I mean, her big T.J. watt. You just go through all these guys.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, yeah. Salty. And then the two exciting whites too. I mean, they're.
Taylor Lewan
Oh, yeah, they made some plays and.
Delaney Walker
They was making plays.
Brian Baldinger
Baller. Ryan blankenship is. Cooper DeJean is a baller. And Quinion Mitchell.
Taylor Lewan
Oh, yeah.
Delaney Walker
It's one of those things where you turn on the film with the Philadelphia Eagles and at the end of every play, the opponent's offensive play, you see 10 or 11 guys in, in the screen. Like they are always there running to the ball. They're destroying people. Their defensive line is elite. Who is, who's Jalen Carter? Jalen Carter, his ability to put pressure in the middle of the offensive line and bring press, show up to the quarterback. There's no way to step into your throw. So these guys on the edges are able just to run the hoop every single time and catch that quarterback at nine and a half, 10, 11 yards. And it is just, it's a ticking time bomb every single day.
Will Compton
They have like this. The most unbelievable stat for their three game run so far to the super bowl is they've got 10 takeaways. They haven't turned. They're plus 10 in the turnover ratio in three games.
Delaney Walker
It's unbelievable.
Will Compton
Like it's, it's crazy. Like they're just punching the ball out.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Two weeks in a row. I mean, everybody practice it. Like, I know everybody team practice it. They preach it, they talk about it, but like you're just watching this exact ball and punch it out. You're watching Oren Burks punching it out. Same thing last week. Jalen Carter to, you know, to Kyron Williams with the Rams.
Delaney Walker
Do you think there's anything the Commanders could have done to win that game?
Brian Baldinger
You just can't turn the ball over.
Delaney Walker
I mean, they got us four turnovers.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
Because they're all, they can't, they can't stop the run.
Delaney Walker
So it's like, okay, you know, the Commanders can't stop the run. They're going to do that the entire game. They have Austin Eckler, he, he catches the ball, catches a knee.
Will Compton
They had bad matchups, really bad matchup, all of them. They went out, they went out and got Lattimore and Marshawn's been a good player for a long time, but he's not the same guy that he once was when he was making Pro Bowls in New Orleans. He tries to match up with AJ Brown. He can't do.
Taylor Lewan
Can't do it.
Delaney Walker
And you can't be making dumb mistakes too. AJ Brown, I mean, that was a master class of chess. Of what AJ Being able to bait him, gave his head. All of a sudden he's. He gives him a big push, hands go up, flag goes the other way.
Will Compton
I thought the big thing was the question. I live in Philly, so I hear this. You know, it's non stop. Right. You know, Jalen can't read a defense. Jalen can't do this. Like, it's just noise to him. He's actually pretty good about blocking it all out. But, you know, he had a great day yesterday. A great day. Doesn't turn the ball over. He does not put the ball in harm's way. No, will not. Will not throw the ball in the middle into some zone coverage right now. He got burned early in the year. Won't do it. So he'll take the sack, he'll throw it away. But his decision making is. And then yesterday AJ Went off, you know, like they couldn't stop him yesterday.
Delaney Walker
Well, you put. You put guy one on one with a single high safety. And AJ Guys pressed on AJ Brown. So, yeah, I'm going to throw it up to A.J.
Brian Baldinger
Oh.
Taylor Lewan
Every time.
Delaney Walker
Do his thing real quick.
Brian Baldinger
You remember physicality.
Will Compton
What did. What. You know, like, I just kind of asked you because like Vrabel said, I'm never trading him.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
Remember?
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
I'm never trading this guy.
Delaney Walker
Fast forward.
Taylor Lewan
It wasn't.
Will Compton
But I think he's even better now.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
I think he's even like. Because I think he's even stronger than he used to be. And he's just as explosive as he's ever been.
Delaney Walker
He's. He's in a. His stature alone.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
He plays the way he looks a lot. I say it looks like Tarzan plays like Jane. He looks like Tarzan plays like work hard in the. I mean, it goes back to the first play. I kind of drew it up. We don't have to go into it, but it is 19, truck. It's a pin pull scheme.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
And the number one block on that is the point man, and that's A.J. usually you're going to put your Y in that position to block down on a defensive end. That's how. That's how much trust they have on AJ to block. Knowing AJ AJ is like an edge rusher. He wants sacks.
Will Compton
And he's blocking Dante Fowler on the play.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
And Fowler spins and he stays in front of Keeps his feet, keeps his.
Delaney Walker
Head, and then brings me.
Will Compton
If you don't pin him, if you don't. If you don't pin him, everything else just gets washed.
Delaney Walker
He gets washed. He. Saquon has to go back into the middle and then he can't get to the alley because Dante Fowler spins out of that and AJ Is able to use his hips and his feet and drive him at a 45 degree angle. That's why Bobby Wagner gets caught up in the fray. That's a four. They were in that play later. It's a four or five yard play. Wagner and Louvre don't get caught up in all the mess. Yeah, he's able to do that. Like that's such a key block that no one's really going to talk about. But that says a lot about AJ because he is. And then, you know, a quarter later, he hits a goalball, catches a nice little 30 yarder. Then he gets the touchdown, same touchdown. And then he's baiting guys into it like that. Like, I don't know exactly what AJ Brown stats were, but they're whatever his stats were. He played better than a stat show.
Will Compton
Yeah, he had like six catches.
Delaney Walker
He had 150. He. He played like he had 170.
Will Compton
But even when he was reading a book on the sideline, which is hilarious, which is unbelievable, right? I mean, I, I've never seen it. I don't know. Will you guys have seen anything like that? But even when he's reading the book on the sideline, the guy's still making unbelievable blocks. Like he's not getting the ball, they're not throwing it to him, but he's still blocking his.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, yeah, that, that was, that was the first time I've ever seen that.
Delaney Walker
First time ever. Excellence.
Will Compton
But have you ever brought a prop to the, to a game before?
Taylor Lewan
Just a prop?
Brian Baldinger
No.
Delaney Walker
During Halloween you would wear like Halloween masks.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, yeah, I wear like Halloween masks and stuff. But I don't know if I would be like. We pulled his book out, just sitting.
Brian Baldinger
Right there and then just casually knowing.
Will Compton
That the camera's on. The cameras on.
Delaney Walker
You know, when the cameras are on.
Brian Baldinger
I mean.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, but good for him because he is going to be something about that. I mean, you got to meet the writer. The production of the show is like inner excellence. And then they go in this whole spin off the funny thing.
Will Compton
The page that he's got, it's all highlighted. Yeah, he's got the highlighted pen out there. It's all highlighted.
Delaney Walker
You need to make sure and get back to this. Right back to the house this evening. Ball game. It is wild.
Taylor Lewan
He didn't give me the vibe that he was a reader.
Delaney Walker
He brought up Rabel. I think when we go to media days, I think a good question for AJ when he's sitting at the booth is, do you credit your success to John Robinson for trading you?
Taylor Lewan
Did you ask him that?
Delaney Walker
No, I think we should ask him that. We'll be at the super bowl next week. I mean, that trade, Traylon Burks, they take. They trade for the 18th pick. They give AJ Brown, they take Traylon Burks, 18 overall. And no disrespect to Traylon, he's got all the tools and everything. I'm not sure he's had a couple of injuries and stuff like that, but the reality is, is he and I have the same amount of touchdowns in the NFL right now. And so that's tough.
Will Compton
Well, here's the thing that's interesting about that moment in time is this is where the Eagles are just better than everybody else. They make the trade, they do the compensation, and they give him a contract. All in like literally the same moment.
Delaney Walker
In one fail swoop.
Will Compton
Tennessee couldn't figure out how to give them the extension. That's all he wanted. Right. Like all players. So they get to trade the compensation and the contract done all at once, which is wild.
Delaney Walker
They can figure. Can figure out the compensation on the Titans end because, yeah, you pay a quarterback. Yeah, but you're not paying the quarterback had $100 million contract, not a $300 million contract. Like you could move a whole bunch of stuff. I know if they called me and they're like, hey, Taylor, could we just front page.
Will Compton
Sure.
Delaney Walker
Get AJ minimum. I'm like, hell yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
Brian Baldinger
You know how to rubble with aj though. Like, he just got low ball and he.
Delaney Walker
So he took it personal.
Taylor Lewan
He took it personal. He didn't want to be here. Let's just be honest.
Will Compton
But the other thing is all these other receivers are getting paid. So he's like, you know, I mean, it's just. It really. You just fall in line. Like they all got paid, all of them. So AJ's just like, okay, what about my back?
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, Well, I think they looked at Derek Henry as the horse, so.
Delaney Walker
The horse, but still didn't pay him very much.
Taylor Lewan
They didn't.
Delaney Walker
The shitty thing for. For Derek is he got caught up in that. Running backs are dead. Yeah. That little. That. I think it's over.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
The market hopefully takes a jump because.
Delaney Walker
These teams are going to go nuts.
Will Compton
Every one of those guys, the whole carousel. Every one of them.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Aaron Jones, Josh Jacobs, Derek Henry, like, all those guys went somewhere else and have had massive success.
Will Compton
And you've seen, like, the comeback of the run game.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Like, all these teams. I mean, I know Kansas City still comes out of the tunnel. Thrown it, but Deagles ran at 57 of the time.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
Like, you got Saquon. It helps, you know, but still, like, Baltimore, Detroit, all these teams are running it far more than they're throwing it.
Delaney Walker
I know.
Brian Baldinger
Were you guys surprised that Washington didn't go for it on that opening drive on fourth down? Yeah.
Taylor Lewan
I mean, if you win twice already, why you just don't go for the last one just to get it, get it done.
Delaney Walker
It seems like they were caught and like, okay, we're going to be gutsy. We're going to be ballsy. Which they've. They've gone for on fourth down more than any other team in the NFL. They do it two times in one drive.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
I don't know if they think to themselves, like, Dan Quinn's like, all right, Lux probably ran out here. Let's take the points. We're in a good. We're in a favorable.
Brian Baldinger
And he's probably thinking, too, we'll be able to do this all game. Like, if Washu is going to win that game, they're going to have to do it kind of the way they beat the Lions, like, kind of stay up in points and everything else, because their defense clearly wasn't going to be able to stop the Eagles.
Will Compton
Well, I think that's the point, Will, is if you hand it off to Saquon on the play that you're talking about behind us for 60 yards in the first play, you're like, this might be a long day. Yeah, we better score touchdowns. Field goals aren't going to get it done.
Delaney Walker
Right? Yeah. So you're saying that the Eagles had the first drive as opposed to the Commanders, right? Yeah, they're probably.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Well, you see them start to panic around the third or fourth drive that they had. They go with three and out. And you're like, man, this is about to get out of hand. And they run the fake punt. I'm sorry, I look at my phone, I hear something screaming. Oh, oh, oh, shit. Okay.
Brian Baldinger
Tress Way is one of those cats. He's a punter, but he's the most athletic guy. It's a great throw.
Will Compton
When you're.
Brian Baldinger
When you're playing. When you're playing volleyball in the Backyard when you're playing Wolfle ball. He's the best ping pong player I've ever played.
Delaney Walker
This the kid that was at the Chargers?
Brian Baldinger
No, that's Dustin Hopkins.
Delaney Walker
No, no, no, no. But the, the. There was a guy. I thought he was at the Chargers. When we went there for their training camp. You were like, I play with this guy at the Redskins. He was. He's good at everything.
Brian Baldinger
That's Dustin Hopkins.
Delaney Walker
Okay.
Brian Baldinger
But he was. He was second. He was like he was underneath Tressway. Tressway is a dog. His wife was an all american softball player at University of Oklahoma. They have brothers. I'm talking pitchers. They got like Tress way's got it when he made that play. There's. There's I. He's not even worried about that throw. Like that was so easy to him. He's probably grinning when he's throwing the ball. He's such an athlete. I'm telling you, bro. He's athletic.
Delaney Walker
Talking about opponent right now, he's so juiced up.
Will Compton
No doubt.
Delaney Walker
He's so hot.
Will Compton
No doubt.
Delaney Walker
This guy, he didn't even sweat. He didn't even think about.
Will Compton
He almost couldn't wait to throw it. He's supposed to kind of carry out a little bit of your punt action.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah.
Will Compton
He was like, I got this.
Brian Baldinger
And you know, every weekend the special team coaches ask him, hey, you think you're gonna be good? He's just like dog, just.
Taylor Lewan
Cause this a perfect. Just a perfect high pass to where you want it.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah. Yeah.
Will Compton
The thing that's funny about that play is psychotic. Huh?
Delaney Walker
It's psychotic.
Will Compton
What it is.
Brian Baldinger
Massive stones to make that go backed up.
Taylor Lewan
They did not know it was coming, them boys.
Delaney Walker
Randy Marshall with his ball sacking.
Will Compton
He was covering me. As soon as he went by him, he knew like he started looking back.
Taylor Lewan
He started looking for the ball.
Delaney Walker
He did.
Taylor Lewan
As soon as he beat him, he.
Will Compton
Was like, throw it down.
Delaney Walker
I love based off Will everything. Will said that that backup tight end was shitting himself.
Brian Baldinger
Oh, he was.
Delaney Walker
Sling this motherfucker out here.
Brian Baldinger
This ain't nothing to make noise with this.
Delaney Walker
But yeah, going just the commanders. Amazing year for them.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
The turnaround they've had. We've talked about the show a couple of times, but all this stuff with the head office, the owner. They end up selling the team and going and make it to the NFC championship like they were playing with house money. They didn't have the defense to get it done this year.
Will Compton
But they got. They got the quarterback. Like you get the quarterback Right. There's only, there's never. Even when this was a 12 team league, there was enough good quarterbacks.
Delaney Walker
Right.
Will Compton
And so like they got the quarterback and like he fixes everything. The run game. You get a backup right guard in there, you know, like it doesn't matter. Like they had a rookie left tackle this year. If there's breakdowns of protection, he covers for him. If it's fourth down, he runs for it, he extends it. Like you see, you know, McLaren's been in this league for six years. He's never had a year like this. Never. Like he set a record for touchdowns by. By commander.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, yeah, I saw something on Instagram and I'll have to work through this. But like all these mobile quarterbacks now are able to run because of that Cam Newton, Tim Tebow era where it was like not everyone was still so used to the Tom Brady, Peyton Manning of the statue quarterback. And these guys come in like Tim Tebow obviously didn't work out in the NFL, but he had Johnny Manziel as well. Like that kind of era of like, hey, let's get Andrew Luck, get these guys. They can show a little mobility. They can do a little bit more than just throwing the football. Now you're seeing all like these Jayden Daniels Lamars, the Patrick Mahomes is the Josh Allens. Like they are. They lean a lot on their offense, on their legs as opposed to just their arm.
Will Compton
Well, the NFL can only take what the college game gives you. So the college game is giving you these guys. They're not giving you Tom Brady anymore. Like that guy isn't in college. They're putting their best athletes at quarterback.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
So that's one thing. And then the other thing is just talking to guys around the league because of these guys are just so lethal as soon as they break the pocket, like it's changing the way you rush the passer. I think you're getting a lot more cage rushing now.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
Like you watch Chris Jones rush like he could probably win on the edge a lot more than. But like they're content. Jalen Carter, these guys are content right now. Delaney to like literally walk their man and try and keep that guy in the pocket and can like contain rush rather than the quick swims or the quick escapes. You know, sometimes, you know, you get the stunts that are working, you know, to get the guys there. But I think we're seeing a difference in the way defensive linemen are rushing.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. And I think that's a good transition to go to the AFC championship. Game because a lot of these bigger plays, Patrick Mahomes did one or two reads and he sees big holes in the A, B or C gap and kind of wiggled his way through there. We'll get big chunk plays out of that. Like, we all know that Patrick Mahomes can be a little bit lethal with the ball in his hands, running it. Why aren't teams cage rushing similarly like they do the Baltimore Ravens or the Eagles?
Will Compton
What's interesting yesterday, Taylor, is that in the first game that they won, they spied Mahomes. And in that game, he didn't have one run like they spied him. Dorian Williams, Terrell Bernard, yesterday he was fine at all. And as soon as he knows you don't have a guy that can chase him, like, he takes off with it when he sees it, right? And he got all those first stats downs and two, you know, two rushing touchdowns.
Delaney Walker
Two rushing touchdowns. And also, like you bring up like they. Every team runs the ball a whole lot, except for the Chiefs. Like, the Chiefs are using their short pass game as they're running. As they're running. They do.
Will Compton
That's basic west coast offense.
Brian Baldinger
Kareem Hunt does a hell of a job.
Delaney Walker
A hell of a job. But even in the middle part of that game, the second quarter, third and even in the fourth, like Kareem Hunt, he started to get stopped a little bit. Pacheco was kind of not even around that game until those last couple of plays in the four minute. Like a lot of those chunks that were taken out aside from that first quarter and the second half of the second quarter was Mahomes getting out of the pocket, running, making it dancing a little bit and getting the two rushing touchdowns.
Will Compton
Did you think, like the Bills in that third quarter, they just started running the ball, like right down the field.
Brian Baldinger
That drive, that drive, they only have.
Will Compton
One throw, one throw, right? Eight runs, and they ran for the touchdown. Did you think like they were taking over the game at that point?
Taylor Lewan
At that point? I did.
Delaney Walker
I did. I think, yeah. You start to impose your will the way they did, I thought. And it, it wasn't like exotic type of runs. It was zone, it was mid zone. It was hand the ball off. There was nothing creative about it. They were just taking their physicality against the Chiefs physicality, and they were handling business.
Brian Baldinger
That drive that they had almost tells you that they should have started off like they did such a good job throughout the year. It's like last week when they played Baltimore, Josh Allen only threw for like 180 and they were Great on the ground. They've had such a good bounce attack all year long. They come out those first two drives and Josh is trying to sling it, and you can tell whether it's nerves moment, he's having some lackluster. You can see in his eyes, he's fumbling the snap. But if you're running the football the way that the Buffalo could run the football this year with Joe Brady as the oc, like you can tell on that third quarter drive, they got away from that in the first quarter. They should have probably established in the beginning of the game like they've kind of done all along.
Delaney Walker
Their first two drives are the same way. They ran it on first down, they got three, four yards. The second drive, they ran it on first down, got 3, 4 yards, then they threw it two separate times after that. But you could see, you could see the pressure mounting in Josh Allen's head those first couple of drivers and didn't allow him to settle down. They're trying to take chunk plays.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
And I know, like Joe, I like, I'm excited to see if the Chiefs can do a three peat. I'm gutted for the Buffalo Bills. Yeah, I want it for the Bills. I want it for Josh Allen.
Will Compton
He's been on the fan base.
Delaney Walker
He's an awesome cat. He's like a dude's dude type of dude.
Brian Baldinger
He's the best man.
Delaney Walker
I really just want him to get over this hump because I think they could really get it done if they can just get past the Chiefs. But you can see it, that he's wearing all that pressure, all that weight on his shoulders. Like the whole week leading up, the mainstream media, us were like, hey, who has more pressure? Chiefs to three people or the Bills to beat the Chiefs?
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
And everyone's kind of leaning, going, hey, Bills versus the Chiefs, that's. That's the thing. And you see it in his face.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
So if you're able to just get a couple of throws out, even if it's like a bubble screen, get the ball out of your hand. How's it feel? Slinging a little bit and real.
Will Compton
They were real. They got stuffed on that one. Fourth and one. It just killed them.
Delaney Walker
Talking about the third quarter.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
The one that was controversial.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, it was.
Brian Baldinger
That was the first down.
Taylor Lewan
But, but.
Brian Baldinger
So that was a first.
Will Compton
So it's weird, Will. So a couple years ago, I remember we were having a seminar back when the Eagles first started their whole, you know, tush push thing. Right. So should they outlaw it? Should they Keep it right. So they said, well, I asked the official, like my prayer, I said, you know, how do you officiate this play? Because it seems like the whistle never blows. And they said, like on that play, he started going sideways. They said as soon as they start going sideways and you're not going forward, the whistle should blow. They should stop the momentum. And so he did start because he, he kind of went through the left guard hole there, kind of moved it and then he started getting pushed. Chris Jones, the guy started pushing him. But I don't know, like, I don't know how to. I don't know how they get that play right.
Brian Baldinger
Sometimes with the Buffalo Bills, they suck at running that.
Delaney Walker
Suck at it.
Will Compton
They have a.
Delaney Walker
The Chiefs looked at him and Spags goes, hey, every single time he's going to take the snap, he's going to take a shuffle to the left, is going to go up the middle. But either way, look at the defense. The defense has, you know, the majority of their guys gapping out A, B and C on the left side. Yeah, it's like they knew what he was going to do.
Brian Baldinger
But the Eagles get like three guys.
Delaney Walker
Back their ass in a four minute wedge block. It's totally a wedge block. The two blocks are different.
Brian Baldinger
That's what I'm saying. The Bills suck at running it. They have their one running back back there to push him. He doesn't even really push him. Josh just tries like going to the left and do it in himself. He's got like three guys behind him.
Delaney Walker
It's like a weird victory formation.
Taylor Lewan
It's like a tight victory form wedge. And then they run dual. Like the Bills almost run dual.
Delaney Walker
They do.
Will Compton
Do you know the one time Josh went up and over and he freaking fumbled? That's why you don't go up and over. I don't even know if he got it back or not. The ball was out.
Brian Baldinger
They ball back on that one. But you guys don't think so you're saying he got stuff. You're saying it wasn't a first down.
Delaney Walker
I'm saying that that call could have gone either way. Whatever it was called in the field, it should have. It should have stood. They called it as a. It was turnover. It stood as a.
Brian Baldinger
Did you not see those referees running like having the backwards a little bit.
Taylor Lewan
To get out of the way sideways once he got pushed sideways.
Brian Baldinger
One guy was saying it was a first down.
Will Compton
One guy's running on top. There's no question, like they came in opposite.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, they came.
Delaney Walker
One was on the line or over the line? The other one was inside the line. Yeah, the one that was on the line. Over the line. That would have given the first down Chiefs player in the way. He has to move around that and when he reestablishes his walk, he's in a completely different spot. I get it. I understand that. But I, but I'm just saying the.
Brian Baldinger
Entire year of the Chiefs, this team could get away with murder with referees.
Delaney Walker
That's where, that's where I'm sitting back. I'm going, let's, let's pump the brakes because I agree. The entire year the Chiefs have had calls go their way 99 out of 100 times. Every, like pretty much every single time. You know, what's the chief this game? If I were to say, hey, you're going to be one like one for five on third down, on short yards, third down, you're going to go, you're going to go over two and two point conversions.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
You're going to have. Your first drive is going to be. You could have thrown two picks in three plays.
Will Compton
No doubt.
Delaney Walker
And the Chiefs had the most razor sharp first drive you've ever seen. If I were to tell you that without giving you context, which team is going to win? Yeah, the team that has a razor sharp first drive. I mean it's not like the Bills were just like having massive chunk plays and then they were getting called back or they were getting.
Brian Baldinger
That's an event at all. But you, you murder a drive because that is a pivotal point in the game.
Delaney Walker
It's a pivotal point of the game where they're in there that are in a pivotal point of the game. When Josh Allen has that incredible throw. I can't remember the receiver's name. He makes a great catch.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
And a flag comes out. My first thought was here we go, chief stuff. That call was on the chief defense.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, it was.
Delaney Walker
And so it's like it seemed like they were calling it equal if not overcorrecting a little bit against the Chiefs like we kind of talked about before.
Will Compton
That's what the one stat that still is out there, Tyler. I think it's, it's, it's correct too. In the three super bowl wins the Chiefs have, they don't have one holding call. They don't have one holding call by any offensive lineman.
Delaney Walker
They had, they had a bunch though against the loss of Tampa Bay.
Will Compton
Yes, they did.
Brian Baldinger
And then the one against the Eagles where it was ticky tacking it. It's again by the book. It's a crack call. But that little hole, that little grab, what was it on Juju Smith Schuster.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
When they kind of got him a couple years ago. That was extremely controversial. Like it was a ticky tack call. But also it's like, yeah, if you go buy the, buy the book that technically is a penalty. It, it blows my mind, man. And here we are again.
Delaney Walker
Here we are again.
Taylor Lewan
Here we are.
Delaney Walker
Unless there's a meteor, the Chiefs are probably going to be super bowl champions.
Brian Baldinger
I don't know, bro.
Will Compton
I don't know. I don't know.
Brian Baldinger
Personally I'm. Personally I think I'm taking the cheese. I think, I think I'm thinking. But the Eagles, the way he was explaining it to them defensively, like this is a different, this is a different team. And if you look at the, if you look at the Chiefs, they've only scored over 30 points like two games this year. Last night was one of them. Like they have, they don't have this high powered offense.
Will Compton
Like the one thing the Eagles eliminate is your quickbook game. Any hitches, any screens outside, they. You know there's an old saying like you step up to clean it up, you back up, you give it up. Like they're rookies. Quinon, Cooper Dean, like it doesn't matter who it is. Like they attack all those plays, right? And they attacked him yesterday like they didn't get anything off those quick screens.
Brian Baldinger
You see that play that Cooper Dean made, It was either Cooper or Ryan. I can't tell the, the whites out there, but they were in the, they were in the bunch. Too blind but they were in that bunch and they threw a quick screen out to the outside. Cooper DeJean is the only guy on the point, man. Just kind of throws Crowder aside and makes the play in the back.
Will Compton
Well, that was a two point conversion.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, that was a two point.
Will Compton
Yeah, it was two point conversion.
Brian Baldinger
I think there was another one in the middle of the field where he makes it where he makes a push.
Taylor Lewan
When they got the fumble. It was the fumble.
Delaney Walker
One right? Fumble. Yeah. The announcers go, well he is known for having little hands. I'm thinking, oh man. Echo's always had a trouble with the receiving because his hazy.
Brian Baldinger
But if Crowder, if the receiver Crowder just blocks or gets in the way of Cooper. Cooper is just by himself down there and makes a play by himself, right?
Delaney Walker
Exciting.
Brian Baldinger
They got a defense, man. They have a defense.
Delaney Walker
They have a defense.
Brian Baldinger
And Saquon Barkley, incredible.
Will Compton
Got Vic Fangio, he lines up in a two deep shell every Play and then you don't know what they're doing until the snap. Like he just keeps you guessing. Not going to give you anything away.
Delaney Walker
That's the most exciting thing watching football now is the chess game going on between two coordinators.
Will Compton
No doubt.
Delaney Walker
One.
Will Compton
I agree.
Delaney Walker
I totally agree. The Eagles did it a lot. And in the AFC championship you could see them kind of look over to the side. They. You see the shell and they're going in, they're checking place, they're coming back, they're reloading the play. Like that's a fun preset thing to watch.
Will Compton
But that's so that's, you know, you're going to get a lot of that Super Bowl Sunday. You have Spags here.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
You have Keller Moore. Like they're going to be. That's the chess match right there. Spags, he's got the smallest play sheet. You know, like some people got a new jersey, you know, diner right there. They're calling plays from Spags. Has a sheet that's like half of this right here. It's like, like how many different pressures do you have on there?
Delaney Walker
Yeah, well. And to dial up that corner blitz on that fourth down for Josh Allen who by the way put like hero throw like that should have.
Brian Baldinger
Hey, that's one thing that we're missing here is King Cage should have caught that.
Taylor Lewan
He should have caught that ball. Oh my God.
Brian Baldinger
It's like when it happened, his reaction.
Will Compton
His reaction like, and once you watch.
Brian Baldinger
The replay, you're like, oh, he should.
Taylor Lewan
Have caught the ball when he threw there.
Delaney Walker
I'm like, oh, that's a pick that's not going down. Holy. I'm like, oh, now to go into. I. I don't think this game was a flag like was for the Chiefs from an NFL standpoint the way we've been seeing it the entire year. But you did see in that play, Kincaid, he almost caught the ball and a flag came out. And they picked the flag.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, they picked it up.
Will Compton
Because if he know what the flag.
Brian Baldinger
Was, it was just a case.
Taylor Lewan
If he caught it.
Delaney Walker
Chiefs were going to the super bowl no matter what.
Brian Baldinger
Chiefs were going to the super bowl no matter what.
Taylor Lewan
As soon as he didn't catch it, they wiped it off.
Brian Baldinger
Ah, yeah. Let's pick this.
Delaney Walker
So we dropped it. Yeah. My bad.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
Is that the Taylor Swift like effect?
Delaney Walker
Yeah, I think it is the Mahomes effect. It's the Andy Reid.
Brian Baldinger
I think last year's a big money made this year I feel like it's more three peat effect.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Taylor Lewan
You know how many people gonna code to the game if I mean, Chiefs gone. You know how many fans are about to be at the game again? Like Las Vegas.
Delaney Walker
Oh, the same as last year.
Taylor Lewan
No, Las Vegas was like 11. They made what, 11 billion in one day, bro.
Will Compton
In Las Vegas. You just put it in Vegas every year.
Taylor Lewan
Every year.
Brian Baldinger
Do you guys think this. This matchup is kind of the worst one for viewership?
Delaney Walker
Yeah. Well, we talked about it last week.
Taylor Lewan
Why?
Will Compton
Well, just fatigue.
Brian Baldinger
Because you got. You just got the Chiefs and you got the Eagles. It's like two. Twice in what, three years.
Delaney Walker
Twice in three years.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, but fan base crazy.
Will Compton
Bills were there. If the Bills did.
Taylor Lewan
Be there, you.
Delaney Walker
Put up that map for America and it's like who's cheering for who? And it'll be like Chiefs red, Eagles are green and then like gray is just like the, like the rest. Whoever else. It's like Chiefs where the Chiefs are the Eagles and everybody else is like, we don't really care.
Will Compton
Yeah. Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Like you would have loved to see the Bills.
Taylor Lewan
Everybody would have loved to see the Bills.
Delaney Walker
If you saw one of those Commanders, it had been like, oh my God.
Brian Baldinger
What'S going off the Bills in the early 90s when they went to four Super Bowls in a row, the continued story of that is every team they lost to was from the NFC East. So the Bills would have been playing in NFC East.
Delaney Walker
That is sick. I did not know that.
Will Compton
Yeah. They lost Dallas twice. Washington.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah.
Will Compton
And then what was it was Dallas III was. They lost the Dallas.
Brian Baldinger
Dallas went to the Super Bowl a lot in the 90s.
Will Compton
Yes. But then the. Dallas won back to back Super Bowls. Then they. They. The command Redskins beat them in Minnesota that year. And then I forget who their fourth defeat was.
Brian Baldinger
Did the Giants.
Will Compton
Was it the Giants go in the early 90s? No.
Brian Baldinger
You got LT. Just saying. Hey, you got LT. They probably won.
Will Compton
Yeah. They went 90. 1990. The Giants won one. Yeah, that's right. Yep. That was the first one.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. Heartbroken for the Bills, man.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Harbor most happy for the commanders in a completely different sense. But they got smiles in their faces this morning while they're getting the trash bags out in the locker room.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah. I mean, you got Jaden Daniels there.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. I mean, the only person. I mean, Bobby Wagner. I feel bad for him because he might.
Brian Baldinger
He could be done.
Taylor Lewan
He probably. He'd probably be done. Or he not. He won't be with.
Delaney Walker
He got one though. He got two, right?
Will Compton
Yeah, he got one. Seattle.
Taylor Lewan
With Seattle. Yeah.
Will Compton
Or did he get one with the Rams.
Delaney Walker
I was just thinking that, but I think they didn't go that year. Year?
Taylor Lewan
No, no, I don't think so.
Will Compton
That was last year.
Delaney Walker
That was last year.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah. I don't think so.
Delaney Walker
But yeah, man. Both great. I mean, not both great games. That AFC championship was. Let me tell you. Let me ask you this. When was it the Bills rate of play and then they. Someone challenged it? Well, no, the Chiefs ran a play, then they ran another play, and then they decided to challenge the previous snap.
Taylor Lewan
Oh, yeah.
Will Compton
After the snap.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
I didn't. I didn't understand.
Delaney Walker
I don't understand that at all. That's like. That's rule.
Will Compton
Was there a penalty on that play? Because if there's a penalty on the play, then the play doesn't count.
Delaney Walker
So that was the play that Worthy came down.
Will Compton
What's it? Catch?
Delaney Walker
No catch came down, ball ends up touching. But it was defensive holding on whoever's covering. Kelsey. I think it was demar Hamlin.
Will Compton
Yes. So you're right.
Delaney Walker
They run another play. I believe it's incomplete. Or it's a touchdown. I can't remember the results.
Will Compton
And Buffalo challenges.
Delaney Walker
But Buffalo challenges whether it was an interception or not.
Will Compton
Right.
Delaney Walker
But it's like that, isn't it? Doesn't matter. It would have been a penalty. Either way, you're getting a new set of downs regardless. It was a very weird sequence of events. Do you recognize that? No.
Brian Baldinger
I saw your tweet. I saw your tweet, but I wasn't.
Will Compton
That catch was unbelievable, though. Maybe Worthy catches, but was that a catch?
Delaney Walker
Ball hit the ground.
Will Compton
Did it hit the ground?
Delaney Walker
Yeah, when they show the tip of the ball hits the ground and Worthy's got one hand on it, and then the defensive player has two hands on it.
Brian Baldinger
I forget. Baldy could be compromised.
Delaney Walker
What do you mean?
Brian Baldinger
He's with the NFL Network.
Taylor Lewan
Work with that.
Brian Baldinger
You might have to say, like, oh, yeah, I think.
Delaney Walker
You'Re right. It was a catch.
Brian Baldinger
Working for your team. I don't know.
Will Compton
I'm just a fan right here. Will I just, like, I'm questioning the same things, man.
Delaney Walker
So you think you, like. Obviously, Philly has the recipe to beat the Chiefs.
Will Compton
Oh, yeah?
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
So you think.
Will Compton
I said. I said on a podcast before the playoffs started that the eagles would go 4 and O in the post season. Like, I thought they were just better in the trenches than everybody.
Delaney Walker
That is.
Brian Baldinger
They do have hogs.
Will Compton
Like, just look at this. Like, their center has got a bad back. All right. Who knows? Jurgen's got one of these like he needs. He's probably going to get an operation. I don't know, like, but it's bad. So he doesn't play. So now they move the left guard to center right. Said he gets hurt. Like he's limping. He's on one leg. He can't even stand up right. So now they got put Jurgens back in the game. You're playing a second year left guard. Like this stuff has been going on throughout the year. Like nothing matters. Like they just still keep like most offensive lines if they lose a guy or two guys, like they fall apart.
Delaney Walker
Usually your sixth guy is an adequate football player, but you lose a lot of. I don't want to be disrespectful as I know a lot of seven and eighth guys, but like that seventh and eighth guy on your offensive line is like, we got to get through a game with this guy. We got to get through a game. But it seems like the Eagles can just kind of keep them coming.
Will Compton
Makai Becton, right, Who's been three injury marred years with the Jets.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, a bit of a bust, all of that.
Will Compton
He's never played guard in his life. Nobody ever asked him to play guard. Didn't know if he could play guard. He goes in there, guys, he's a Pro bowl guard. To me, like, I didn't see him. Nobody beats him and his power is like unmatched.
Delaney Walker
He's a different. He's a different type of human being. You're talking about trenches and run game. Like what you need to win a championship on the opposite side of the ball. The Eagles have that.
Brian Baldinger
If you had a quarterback who's not going to turn the ball over and he doesn't have to be Superman to win the game.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
So give me the. Look at Jalen. If you look at Jalen hurts.
Delaney Walker
Give me the Eagles everything I got.
Taylor Lewan
On the Chiefs, then I'll take it.
Delaney Walker
If you take.
Will Compton
If you take Jalen Hurts out of that last commander game. Week 16 where he got concussed. Yeah, he's 130 in his. In that run. 130 since the bye week. And he's thrown one interception in those 13 games.
Delaney Walker
The. Yeah, the Eagles.
Brian Baldinger
You're going Chiefs, aren't you?
Delaney Walker
Well, I probably. Yeah, I'm going to go Chiefs. But to argue against that just for the sake of conversation, the Eagles seem like they were playing that game knowing they were winning the game the whole entire time. The move with Juergens keeping him, he. He was there just in case of.
Will Compton
Emergency and he goes in.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, he Ends up going in Landon Dickerson, he's like, he knows he's got, he's got to play to help Juergens out because in two weeks they go to the Super Bowl. Saquon Barkley, they pull him out at the right time. But all of Jalen hurts runs. A lot of times you see him lower the shoulder, fight for extra yards. Anytime the play was over for him slide down, it was, it was a one yard ball.
Will Compton
He's going to be healthy.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. And that, that's where you could see Philly having it. But Kellen Moore versus Spags.
Will Compton
It'S hard to blitz the way Spags does if you're just running the ball down their throats.
Delaney Walker
That is true.
Will Compton
You just stay with it. It kind of eliminates.
Delaney Walker
The Chiefs have the athletes on the outside. They have the athletes on the outside to match up one on one with their receivers. And so you're able to load that box a little bit more.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, but this is a different offensive line too. Like a lot of times it's like you can almost overload one side, put Chris Jones by himself somewhere else. Who are you going to match Chris Jones up against? Probably going to be somebody from the inside because it is going to be Lane Johnson is going to be my lotta like they got. They have such a good.
Delaney Walker
I'm the Chiefs. I'm going to tell Chris Jones, hey, you're not playing, you're not playing on the outside unless you're in these packages. Yeah, staying inside, but you're staying on the inside. You're running, rushing against those.
Will Compton
That's where he goes though. He goes where he thinks he can win. I don't think he thinks he can beat Mulatto or Lane.
Delaney Walker
Right.
Will Compton
So he'll stay inside probably.
Delaney Walker
When did. Was J.J. watt the first person that started doing that where he would kind of go down the line on the five and say, oh hey, who's seven? Bruce Smith.
Will Compton
But before that, Bruce Smith did that.
Delaney Walker
Bruce Smith did that.
Will Compton
Yeah, he'd got. I remember one time I had to go in and play center. I was in Indianapolis and we played him twice a year and like my. The center got hurt. So I go from guard to center and as soon as I get there, Bruce Smith comes to visit me. You know, like I'm snapping and a shotgun the first play and Bruce is like nose on my snapping hand.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. And I'm like this get back as fast as a quick pop of that in the middle of the forehead back to the quarterback.
Brian Baldinger
Hey, speaking of pops on the Forehead. Jaylen Carter.
Delaney Walker
Oh, my God. And also just binking the. What was it? The step in the eye?
Will Compton
Was that like wwe, like, just.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. He gave me Captain Insano.
Taylor Lewan
He lose right in the middle.
Delaney Walker
He loses.
Will Compton
He's like, I'll take the penalty. Put the center down.
Delaney Walker
Can I smile?
Will Compton
He's so violent, man. I showed a play this morning. Like, they had a play where they were going to wham him with the. With the. The running back. He literally jumped over the wing. He jumped over the. The. The Wham. Like, I've seen tackles do everything in his business plane. I've seen a tackle jump over a block like that. He's, like, in midair, like, off the turnbuckle.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. Wham is the dumbest play to me. I hate the Wham. I think it's so. My experience with the Wham is tfls, it's always a tight end or a fullback trying to slash the nose. They get banked and bounced off.
Will Compton
And then that was a big Belichick play.
Delaney Walker
Its way to the Titans.
Brian Baldinger
Eagles, too, when they went on that super bowl run. They were big that year for the Wham.
Taylor Lewan
San Fran ran it a lot too, when I was there.
Delaney Walker
I love my. I love power, I love counter. I love perimeter place.
Will Compton
Yeah, but that Wham. Everybody has this play now, Taylor. I call it triple trap, double scoop. So you have. You have the Wham block, you have the guard block, and you have the tackle blocking out. So you get three. Three traps. And then you have the two inside scoops on the linebacker. And like, I just see this play getting busted and popped, like, left and right.
Brian Baldinger
Always.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
Because a lot of times, too, when you're in the zone scheme and you just have a tight end sift across.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
Eyes as a backer, everybody's looking to go gap back, gap back. And then once people catch on, the Wham start coming into the equation because it emulates the tight end going across. So you're stepping back to the other gap. But really against the Wham, you have to go straight downhill to beat that tackle.
Taylor Lewan
It depends. Ours depends who you wham and what technique they was in. That's the. That's what the Titans made more difficult because we had to read the technique. We'll motion cross and be like, okay, I got the three. Now you gotta wham that three. But if it was. If he wasn't in the three, you wham. What? What?
Delaney Walker
The nose.
Taylor Lewan
The nose. Yeah. So it was like you had to know who to wham.
Delaney Walker
Right. And when you're In a motion going across. And sometimes when you motion, they bump. So you bump.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah. So that used to throw you. I just kind of wait to see who the line was gonna let free.
Delaney Walker
I love teams. I love teams that do basic things. Elite with a little bit of window dressing, a couple of motions.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Slash a guy, but at the end of the day, you're running inside zone, you're running duo dose those types of things.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
I, I, I, I. That's awesome. It's also the world I grew up in.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Where you're making basic things look a little bit more exotic by the end of the day. It's this play.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
That's the stuff that I like.
Will Compton
A lot of cheese out there in this world, man.
Delaney Walker
A lot of cheese.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
Big game. Where are you going?
Taylor Lewan
Big game.
Brian Baldinger
Chiefs favored by one and a half. The over under on this game is 49 and a half.
Delaney Walker
I'm taking the Chiefs. Chiefs. I'm taking the Chiefs.
Brian Baldinger
We know you are.
Delaney Walker
Because I want to see his repeat. I'd love to see it. It's history, it's. We walked into the AFC championship and I said I want the Bills to win this game. And if the Bills don't win, I'm going for the Chiefs. I'm going for the Chiefs. My worst case scenario was Chiefs Eagles.
Will Compton
Is the last three peat in any sport. Was it the Lakers? Did they Lakers win three championships in a row?
Brian Baldinger
I'm not NBA guys. Oh, A.D. yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Fireball the ball, Zeke. Pro pick of the week is sponsored by fireball. Fireball is a perfect shot for game day. Whether you buying the sneaky little shooters before going into the stadium or going big with the fireball cake for your tailgate. Whether it's a pre game shot in the tailgate lot or a celebratory touchdown shot at the bar, no matter what, it's guaranteed to ignite your game day.
Delaney Walker
Another thing about the Chiefs too is I love a good story. I love storylines. And the thought of Travis Kelce hanging it up after this game, achieving the first thing ever in the NFL in NFL history, that's special to me.
Taylor Lewan
It's not gonna happen.
Delaney Walker
I mean, dude, he's gotta retire.
Taylor Lewan
He's not retiring after this year. Yeah.
Brian Baldinger
You look at Jason Kelsey, you get a dynasty, bro.
Delaney Walker
Like you look at Jason Kelsey, would you say Jason, hey, if you go back, would you play one less year after Jason?
Taylor Lewan
It's different with Jason. Jason was in them trenches. I feel like Kelsey still got a couple of more years in him.
Delaney Walker
Couple More years.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, he might. He definitely feels a lot better than what Jason.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, that's what I'm.
Delaney Walker
But at the same time, he's like. He's got two. Two receptions last game.
Taylor Lewan
Be the only person he's not really.
Delaney Walker
Like you could see.
Will Compton
Yeah, but he's got the record for the most postseason touchdowns.
Delaney Walker
No doubt. No, he. I'm saying he's a first B. He's like the greatest T of all time. That's what. That's what I'm saying. He's achieved all of the things. Why not go out on a 3P?
Will Compton
Well, yeah, I mean, I. I do think some people can stay at the party too long.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
And the fact that him and his brother got all these things set up, you know, production.
Delaney Walker
He's got a billion dollars from Pfizer, the co vaccine. I mean, in the commercial we document.
Will Compton
He's got.
Delaney Walker
Money's an issue for the guy. The biggest star in the world.
Will Compton
No, I mean, he could just go be the, you know, the next action hero, whatever they're going to do with him.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, I just. You've done it all, man. You've done it all. You've achieved it all. Like, why not?
Will Compton
That's. That's definitely a discussion we gotta have.
Brian Baldinger
This game's got Eagles all over it.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
And that's why we go Chiefs.
Brian Baldinger
This game's got everyone watching.
Delaney Walker
That's why you go Chiefs.
Taylor Lewan
I never want to go.
Brian Baldinger
I shouldn't go against the Chiefs line of scrimmage. I like the Eagles defense. I like the Eagles running game. I like the Eagles. The only thing that is is up for argument is really the quarterback position. They got Patrick Mahomes, but Jalen hurts again to his point. 13 games, one interception. You got somebody who doesn't turn the ball over, you're not going to really stop Saquon Barkley in this rushing attack. In my opinion, maybe they might. They do have a good run defense. But I just feel like all like you look at the perimeter of players on the outside. Devontae Smith, A.J. brown, you got tight end Goddard. Like they just have so many weapons. Their roster is better. And I know again, to me you get caught up in the fascination of three peat and everything else. This got Eagles.
Will Compton
Who do you think the biggest star of this game is? You think it's Mahomes? Or do you think it could be Saquon?
Taylor Lewan
Saquon.
Brian Baldinger
Saquon Barkley. And February 9th, guess what? Saquon Barkley's birthday.
Will Compton
Oh, no kidding.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Was he turning tender age of what? 28.
Delaney Walker
He not born in 97. I saw the same thing. Born in 97, so whatever that is.
Will Compton
Okay, 28.
Taylor Lewan
28 years old.
Will Compton
Wow, 28.
Delaney Walker
Still got it.
Taylor Lewan
Young buck.
Delaney Walker
Not just still got it.
Brian Baldinger
He's bug, bro.
Taylor Lewan
I mean.
Delaney Walker
Old. No, Travis is older than me. He's like.
Will Compton
Yeah, no, he's like 36.
Delaney Walker
30.
Taylor Lewan
Oh, okay.
Delaney Walker
Yeah. Who you got? Delaney Eagles.
Taylor Lewan
I. I know I shouldn't go against the Chiefs. I've said this multiple times, but again, I think the Eagles are the better team here.
Delaney Walker
You. You never bet against the champ until the champ gives you a reason to bet against him.
Taylor Lewan
No, trust me. We say this every week. We say this every week.
Delaney Walker
And what happens every week? Week.
Taylor Lewan
I lose.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, but not.
Brian Baldinger
But at some point.
Taylor Lewan
Not. Yeah, at some point last week, they not telling us.
Brian Baldinger
Not good.
Delaney Walker
Okay. Okay, okay, okay.
Taylor Lewan
I mean, it's.
Delaney Walker
Cuz I think I handle business.
Taylor Lewan
No, you probably hit one.
Brian Baldinger
Didn't you go, Bills and Bills and Eagles. So one and one.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, it's one and one.
Brian Baldinger
Did I go back? I bet the Chiefs it's like we, we. Everybody kind of said the things of like, hey, 3P beat the Eagles. I was like, hey, the Eagles are probably going to win this game, but I'm rooting for the commanders. But I'm still owing.
Delaney Walker
And also what I say in the regular season. Bills beat the Chiefs in regular season 4, 040. What they need to do next year, sit all their starters. Bills need to sit all their starters.
Will Compton
Don't win.
Delaney Walker
Chiefs lose. You lose. You've now flipped this.
Will Compton
You guys have the biggest omen for who's going to win this game. Right under the wall right there. I'm looking at Rocky.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Like it's. It's Rocky's town, man.
Taylor Lewan
There you go.
Will Compton
Like, there you go. Rocky's right there.
Taylor Lewan
There you go.
Will Compton
The parade's going.
Delaney Walker
Here's another omen for the last two and a half years, Will Compton said the Chiefs are dead. They're dead. They're always gonna be dead. And has willed. They had, I guarantee, the chief's locker room. There's a picture of Will Compton somewhere with his old teeth. And they're like, this motherfucker is the reason why we're gonna win the Super Bowl.
Brian Baldinger
Drew Tranquil tweeted, tweeted at me last night, says Compton loves the Chiefs. He's gonna be talking about us all week on bus because he goes, he goes there for everybody saying the referees, yada, yada, we staying on Ben business. And I just Put business. And it was just a penalty flag with business written on it.
Will Compton
Is that one of the greatest signings, though? The chief signing, Drew Tranquil, bro.
Brian Baldinger
He's been a stud on the Chargers. Cuz when he was on the Chargers, who was he with then? Who was the guy next to him?
Will Compton
Well, they had the guy from Kenneth Murray.
Brian Baldinger
Kenneth Murray now with the Titans. Yeah, yeah. He's had a hell of a dude. Bolton too. That play that he made, like, was it got or was it Kincaid or not, where he. It's a good ball and it's over the middle and Bolton just plays his arm. He catches the ball, Bolton plays it.
Will Compton
Neither one of them ever come off the field. They play every. Every play.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, they have good. They have good backers. They do shout out Drew maybe next year on the all white team. That's probably where he's probably projecting because he was on the all white team.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, yeah.
Taylor Lewan
He want to be probably Chiefs.
Delaney Walker
Eagles. Eagles.
Will Compton
Eagles. Yeah, Eagles. I just thought that. But for good reason though, Taylor. Like, honestly, like, they're better in the trenches. That's where these games are won. Like they're just better than the Chiefs are right there.
Delaney Walker
I don't disagree with anything.
Will Compton
I know coaching.
Delaney Walker
Offensive line's better. The run game's better.
Will Compton
You said Andy Reid, Nick Sirianni. Right. I mean, you know, like, there's certain things that definitely. I don't think people are going to.
Delaney Walker
Question, you know, the game plan. I mean, you just all.
Brian Baldinger
Game plan, defense. You got that great defense in Philly. It's all about, hey, when Xavier Worthy's in where he's lined up here, here's when he's motion. Here's the big motion tendency you always got to be aware of.
Delaney Walker
Here's the thing you bring up that, that Andy reads and the other, other thing, saying when Xavier Worthy's here, they're gonna think X, Y and Z. So we're gonna do it this way.
Taylor Lewan
Andy Reid won.
Delaney Walker
That's just what dude, Andy Reed is a step above everybody else.
Brian Baldinger
And you got two weeks to prepare.
Delaney Walker
So you have to do that when Alabama was relevant. It's like Nick Saban, if he has a month to prepare for you like that, he's gonna beat you.
Will Compton
You give him a pint of Haagen Dazs and like, you know, and let him burn the midnight cheeseburger. Like, that guy is tinkering like nobody else.
Delaney Walker
Yeah, that's why all these guys doubles this.
Will Compton
Like all these guys that leave Andy Reid's nest on offense like they're never really successful because none of them have the mind of Andy. Like, there was never a. Like most teams, they have a playbook. We work out of the playbook. We'll. We'll. We'll tinker a little bit. Andy's playbook, it's just, it's, it's never ending.
Delaney Walker
Right. It's all. It's a constant.
Will Compton
It's, it's, it's just concepts. Yeah, it's concepts. Like, where was juju Smith Schuster all year?
Taylor Lewan
All year.
Will Compton
Like, here he was an rpo right down the middle of the field.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Hollywood Brown.
Taylor Lewan
I know his collarbone.
Delaney Walker
September 14th comes back. He's kind of like, all right, is he around? Like when your utility guy is DeAndre Hopkins?
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
You're in a good spot. You're in a good spot.
Will Compton
Just, Just the. Only for DeAndre. If the ball's thrown, just make sure you catch it well.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Will Compton
You know, like, that's all he's got to do.
Delaney Walker
We don't need you to get. Yeah, he ain't getting and he's going to get.
Brian Baldinger
He.
Delaney Walker
He understands the soft points of his own as well as the ability to beat guys in man coverage.
Taylor Lewan
Like, don't catch the ball.
Delaney Walker
Hey, look for Travis Kelser to have a big game. He will have a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
Taylor Lewan
I mean, you made that bet last week.
Brian Baldinger

Taylor Lewan
So, fellas, super bowl mvp, I'm going Eagles. So I'm gonna have to go with Jalen.
Brian Baldinger
Jalen, you going Jalen? See, I'm going to Eagles, but I'm going safely.
Taylor Lewan
I would have said Saquon, but I.
Delaney Walker
Think quarterback, if the Eagles win, it's going to be because of Saquon Barkley.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, you think so, right? He's gonna have at least 120.
Taylor Lewan
You would think so, buddy.
Delaney Walker
He's gonna rush for.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, 12 plus touchdowns I know, but you know, Jaylen, the quarterback. So sometimes I just feel like the quarterback. Always.
Will Compton
I think I wouldn't surprise me on Saquon. Just take a screen and just take it to the house. Like just little things. Things. Like he said, you get him in the open field. Right now he's just making every right cut, every right move, and nobody can catch me. This is the first time, really in his whole career he's been healthy start to finish. He hadn't been nicked up by anything. Like he gets two weeks to wrestle.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, he was.
Delaney Walker
He first couple of drives he saw him with the therapy.
Will Compton
Is that like just a cramp? What was that? Because it did look like it slowed down when he took.
Brian Baldinger
No, no, you got it strained.
Taylor Lewan
He took that blind.
Brian Baldinger
He can't run that well.
Delaney Walker
I'm not saying I'm not. I'm not a doctor. Well, I'm not out here saying he has an actual strain. I'm saying he's not the thera gun. After one drive. Something's obviously bothering him. In the calf.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah, but I'm saying it's. It's not too bad.
Will Compton
I saw him on a bicycle too. I saw him on a bicycle. Were you cutting on a bicycle yesterday?
Delaney Walker
Yeah, he was on the bike. He was. He was on the bike.
Taylor Lewan
He trying to warm that shit up.
Delaney Walker
After a 60 yard run.
Will Compton
He's got two weeks.
Taylor Lewan
Well, no, it was after he took on that blocko in the middle and then that's when he went out and started messing with his calf. He picked up that blitz where he. Did he. Bobby, he bodied him, did you not? Yeah, he bodied him.
Will Compton
I posted that picture. I posted that picture. Wags hit me up. Wags.
Delaney Walker
Wag that.
Will Compton
I posted that. He, like, did. You didn't mention that. The guard freaking shoved me too.
Taylor Lewan
Hey, Wags, I know he hit you up too.
Brian Baldinger
He set me up as well on a list where I did the top five linebackers.
Will Compton
You didn't put him on.
Brian Baldinger
Oh, he might have been fourth or fifth or maybe not. Yeah, and I'm just thinking like, yeah, but I mean, Jesus, there's.
Will Compton
So they all take that. They take it personal.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Yeah, they take it personal. That's all right.
Delaney Walker
So you're on Jaylen. Sake one. Sake one.
Will Compton
I'll take you. Sake one.
Delaney Walker
All right. I'll take obviously the Pat Mahomes. Yeah, yeah, it's exciting. Chiefs win. You're pat. Mvp.
Taylor Lewan
If the Chiefs win.
Brian Baldinger
Chiefs win. Yeah. I'll say past the mvp.
Delaney Walker
Well, is there anybody else that you think oh, they could take the mvp because I don't think there's going to be one receiver that.
Brian Baldinger
Travis.
Taylor Lewan
Travis. Travis. If he have a hell of a. A game. Travis, definitely.
Brian Baldinger
Or Chris Jones. Well, why not?
Taylor Lewan
Defender in there, definitely.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Delaney Walker
Bon Miller.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, but did you see how many sacks that man had?
Will Compton
He. He just came out.
Taylor Lewan
He closed the game out.
Delaney Walker
Yeah.
Taylor Lewan
Yeah, that was in a great fashion. I mean, you're gonna win it when you do something like that.
Delaney Walker
I hope we get Cam Newton for an interview in the super bowl, because I'd love to talk about him not diving on that fumble.
Taylor Lewan
He talk about it all the time.
Delaney Walker
I know, but I.
Will Compton
What? Say. What's. I never. What did he say about to get.
Taylor Lewan
Hurt or break his hand or something like that?
Delaney Walker
It's the Super Bowl.
Brian Baldinger
I know.
Delaney Walker
You got to be able to go on.
Will Compton
I thought they lost the game on that play.
Taylor Lewan
We talking can't lose the game.
Will Compton
You lost the play on that.
Taylor Lewan
I'm about to break my hair.
Delaney Walker
Just brutal. Just brutal. All right, we feel good. We gotta jump on the bus right now.
Brian Baldinger
Yeah. Big hugs, tiny kisses. Comment? Subscribe hey, good luck.
Podcast Summary: Bussin' With The Boys
Episode: Brian Baldinger Reacts To AFC & NFC Championships; Taylor Lewan BELIEVES in Chiefs 3-Peat vs Eagles
Release Date: January 28, 2025
Host/Guests: Will Compton, Delaney Walker, Taylor Lewan, Brian Baldinger
The episode kicks off with an energetic welcome from the hosts, Will Compton and Delaney Walker, as they set the stage for an in-depth analysis of the AFC and NFC Championships. They introduce Brian Baldinger as a special guest, promising a "hell of a time" with high-energy and heartfelt conversations about the biggest game of the season: the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.
[06:00] Taylor Lewan: "But everybody wants to talk about Patrick Mahomes. So you need a crusader like yourself."
The discussion begins with an analysis of the AFC Championship, focusing on the performance of the Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. The hosts highlight the Chiefs' potential for a three-peat and delve into the Bills' strategies and challenges.
Brian Baldinger:
"They were already exceeding expectations. Like, yeah, it sucks, but they have so much optimism."
Will Compton:
"Josh Allen tries to match up with AJ Brown. He can't do it."
The Bills' struggles with turnovers and their inability to stop the run game of the Chiefs are critiqued. The conversation emphasizes the Bills' defensive shortcomings and the impact of key players like Zach Bond and AJ Brown on the game's outcome.
The hosts transition to the NFC Championship, praising the Philadelphia Eagles' defense and offense. They discuss the Eagles' ability to control the game through their running game and defensive prowess.
Brian Baldinger:
"Zach Bond doesn't miss a tackle, does it? Not only doesn't miss a tackle, he trusts his instincts."
Delaney Walker:
"They attack all those plays, right? And they attacked him yesterday like they didn't get anything off those quick screens."
The Eagles' strategic gameplay, led by Jalen Hurts and supported by a robust offensive line, is highlighted as a key factor in their success. The hosts commend the Eagles for their ability to execute within the trenches, making them formidable opponents.
The conversation shifts to individual performances, focusing on standout players from both teams.
Taylor Lewan:
"Saquon Barkley, he just making every right cut, every right move, and nobody can catch me."
Will Compton:
"They have like this. The most unbelievable stat for their three game run so far to the super bowl is they've got 10 takeaways."
Saquon Barkley's exceptional performance is lauded, emphasizing his agility and impact on the Eagles' offense. The Chiefs' defensive players, such as Jalen Carter and Cooper Dean, receive praise for their ability to disrupt the Eagles' plays and create turnovers.
A significant portion of the discussion revolves around the strategies employed by both teams, particularly the Eagles' offensive and defensive schemes.
Delaney Walker:
"Makani Beckton, right? Who's been three injury-marred years with the Jets... To me, like, I didn't see him... Nobody beats him and his power is like unmatched."
Will Compton:
"The Chiefs have the athletes on the outside to match up one on one with their receivers. And so you're able to load that box a little bit more."
The hosts dissect the Eagles' use of the Wham play, a technique involving multiple traps and scoops to overpower defensive lines. They discuss how the Chiefs attempt to counteract this with their defensive strategies, highlighting the chess-like game between coordinators.
The episode delves into the controversial officiating decisions that influenced the outcomes of the championship games.
Delaney Walker:
"You've got to pump the brakes because I agree. The entire year the Chiefs have had calls go their way 99 out of 100 times."
Brian Baldinger:
"They've done it again... that little grab, what was it on Juju Smith Schuster."
The hosts express frustration over perceived biases in officiating, particularly favoring the Chiefs with calls going their way consistently. They debate specific plays, such as questionable holding calls and fumble recoveries, arguing that these decisions may have tilted the game's balance.
As the discussion nears its conclusion, the hosts shift focus to predictions for the Super Bowl, weighing the strengths and weaknesses of both the Eagles and the Chiefs.
Taylor Lewan:
"Super Bowl MVP, I'm going Eagles. So I'm gonna have to go with Jalen."
Delaney Walker:
"I want it for the Bills. I want it for Josh Allen."
Will Compton:
"They're rookies, Quinon, Cooper Dean, like it doesn't matter who it is. Like they attack all those plays, right?"
The consensus leans towards the Eagles as formidable contenders capable of dethroning the Chiefs, primarily due to their disciplined play, strong run game, and effective quarterback performance. However, the Chiefs' potential for a three-peat and their dynamic offense remains a strong argument in their favor.
The episode wraps up with final thoughts on the upcoming Super Bowl matchup. The hosts reiterate their support for the Chiefs' chances while acknowledging the Eagles' impressive season performance. They also touch upon the importance of key players and coaching strategies that could determine the game's outcome.
Brian Baldinger:
"They have the roster is better. And I know again, to me you get caught up in the fascination of three peat and everything else. This got Eagles."
Delaney Walker:
"I don't disagree with anything."
The hosts conclude on a high note, expressing excitement for the Super Bowl and encouraging listeners to engage with their predictions and analyses.
[03:06] Brian Baldinger:
"It's the public."
[04:57] Brian Baldinger:
"He’s Pro Bowler."
[09:14] Will Compton:
"They have like this. The most unbelievable stat for their three game run so far to the super bowl is they've got 10 takeaways."
[16:32] Delaney Walker:
"It seems like they were caught and like, okay, we're going to be gutsy. We're going to be ballsy."
[22:29] Will Compton:
"That's basic west coast offense."
[33:31] Delaney Walker:
"It's the most exciting thing watching football now is the chess game going on between two coordinators."
[43:45] Taylor Lewan:
"If the Chiefs win."
[54:17] Will Compton:
"What happens every week? Week."
These quotes encapsulate the hosts' perspectives on player performances, strategic decisions, and the overarching narratives leading into the Super Bowl.
