We're going to show on next week's episode Tier talk on Twitter. Use tear talk. We will find those. The boys will print them off. We will talk about those at the end of the intro portion. Then finally, whenever we have a guest on, we're going to leave comments. Hey, what questions do you want to ask Cam? You guys, did we give them to Cam. He answered all of them. Awesome episode for you guys today. Dive into his life. High school, college, switching from tight end to center. Nebraska Ball. If you love Nebraska, you're going to love this. And finally, the Philadelphia Eagles. What it was like taking over for Jason Kelce. His situation, getting into the center position for the first time in his life. Once again, big hugs, tiny kisses, and let's get into this beautiful show.

with the fellas Busting with the boys, bro. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of bussin with the boys. This is episode 373. 373. Literally right before we got on this and we started recording, I asked that question three times. Jared gave me the answer three times. And I still did not remember it once we started the show. But as always, one thing I won't forget you'll never forget is bus with the boys is presented by America's number one sportsbook. You know him. You love them. FanDuel Sportsbook. Boys, let's talk about America's pastime. You see, baseball, it's all about decisions. Fastball or change up. Swing big or play small. Fanduel is here to bring the same strategy to you for opening week. To choose your own reward betting customizations that transform how you experience the game. Make your choice and the reward will be ready to use at your next MLB bet opening night Wednesday. That is March 25th. Aaron Judge, always a threat. He will be playing the game the next day. Friend of the show running plus friend of the show, Bryce Harpo. He'll be playing after that. We'll be betting on him. We saw him, the wbc. He was the light of that final game. So head to FanDuel.com and choose your reward for MLB's opening week. But that's not all. Let's give a big round of applause once again for the natural state, Arkansas. Arkansas. Ivan Fandor. Big cu. Oh, right. Pig suey.
Will Compton
Pig suey. Pig suey.
Tara Lawan
How do you do the thing? Oh, pig suey.
Cam Jurgens
Pig suey.
Tara Lawan
One more.
Cam Jurgens
Pig suey.
Tara Lawan
Razorbacks. Let's get into it. All right, so we did the round of applause for all the boys out in Arkansas. Head to FanDuel.com Go ahead and sign up and get yourselves. Not one, not two, but $300 in bonus bets guaranteed when you place your first $5 bet. Baseball season is here. Arkansas is here. And FanDuel is here.
Will Compton
Shout out Arkansas man.
Tara Lawan
And I'll tell you what, dude, I know spring tours around the corner. We're kind of dialed in strategically of where we're going to go, when we're going to go. Those things will be done soon, right, Clump? Hell yeah, they will be.
Will Compton
Sir, yes, sir.
Tara Lawan
Sir, yeah, yeah. Yes, sir.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Damn right. Yeah. Take the hat off. Who is the dude at Bud Light Head? Who was that guy? Do you remember that guy? Anyway, dude, Taylor felt that one dying quick.
Will Compton
I need to get out of here.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, I need to get out. There was a kid. There's a coach of music here. He tipped his hat when he shook his head. Oh, so you do know Neutral guy. That's right. Arkansas. I feel like that's a place we need to go to some. Is it Fayetteville? Fayetteville, yes, sir. I feel like that's a spot we got to go to. I heard, yeah, ain't out there, no doubt about it, but just people. That love ball would make it great. That's what would make it incredible. I mean, we talked about this last week in the comments. You can say what you want. Let us know about Fayetteville. For those who's been out there. Fayetteville.
Will Compton
See you.
Tara Lawan
Oh, no, I'm just kidding. In the comments of YouTube. You can let us know. We'll read those. We got some callbacks for you guys.
Will Compton
We did, yes.
Tara Lawan
We got some callbacks. People talking about the past episode. What's going on? We saw those remarks. We want to get into it with you guys. Willie, what do you got?
Will Compton
Tell them how they can be featured a few different times to be featured on the show.
Tara Lawan
That's right.
Will Compton
We got our callbacks where we look at the comments from last week's episode. Engage with you guys. We have one here that's the very tip top of the list. You at the comment section. This one's at the very top with the most likes and most replies. Joe Costello, nwccnc.
Tara Lawan
That's a new quarterback for Nebraska.
Will Compton
Please never stop making this podcast. It's the only thing that gets me through the week. Love you boys. And shout out to the other tier ones. Thank you for that comment. Again featured on the episode episode, episode. Later in the episode we will be doing our tear talk where we put out a tweet. The busing with the boys account at bus and wtb. They put out a tweet on Sunday nights using hashtag tier talk. What do you want us to cover in this week's episode? Those will be featured later in this intro and we also have a third way to get featured and that is you Will now know who the guest is because Cam Jurgens is going to be on this today's pod as you guys are listening. So a couple fan questions. We'll get to him as well. So three different ways to be featured on the episode.
Tara Lawan
Wow.
Will Compton
That was our first one there from Joe Costa. Costello quarterback. Shout out Joe. Shout out Joe.
Tara Lawan
Getting through his week with Bust with the Boys. Also, buddy, find some hobbies as well. Right. Let's do some other things. Do a bunch of stuff.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Let's do a bunch of stuff. Yeah. Joe, let us know what you did this week to spice up your week other than busting with the boys. Let's get into that.
Will Compton
One can talk about it.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Tier one community.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, tier one community. This one comes from Dub City 95. I woke up during a labrum repair of my. On my shoulder. I had a nerve block going, so I couldn't feel anything. But I heard the doctor say, oh, someone's waking up. But not for long. Then I was back out. It was a weird experience. Luckily, no pain, though. So those. You remember the George Kittle episode? We talked about the. The scary people waking up in the middle of surgery, but they're paralyzed, they can't move. And the stat was like one out of a thousand, which is insane. Pretty insane that it actually happens.
Will Compton
Not like a high percentage, but one that's like. You pause.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
You think one in a million.
Tara Lawan
You think one in multiple millions, to be honest.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
I'm thinking, like, this has happened three times in the history of the world.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
And it's just the fact that people wake up during that. Like, anytime any of us go to through anesthesia, hopefully we don't. We never have to go through that.
Will Compton
But it sounds like he had a great dog, says, oh, somebody wakey.
Tara Lawan
Doc's starting to understand that's the situation. Wakey wakes.
Will Compton
He hands off snakey.
Tara Lawan
We know that. Ouch. You heart Dave. Ouchy heart Dave. My father, he had open heart surgery just a few weeks ago. He's doing great. Don't worry. He's fine. Because his. Dave.
Will Compton
Dave was personal business.
Tara Lawan
Taylor's personal business.
Will Compton
Wait for the podcast.
Tara Lawan
But I wanted to make sure. Ouch. You heard Dave was okay, but ouch, you heard Dave. He had surgery. He goes in. I'm his point. I'm his point of contact. Horrible person. I was point of contact, but the nurses are calling me all day and they're like, hey, he's doing great. Blah, blah. You're gonna come see him. I go see Dave. 11pm that night they call me, say, hey, got something going on. Some blood just kind of matriculating out. Out of his heart, not in the right spots. We're gonna go back in for surgery. And I hit him with like, hey, how should we be? Like concerned. Like really concerned. She's like, I put it at a 3 out of 10. I was like, is this like cuz I'm the son or is this a real three? She says it's a real three. Long story short, Dave's completely fine. But Dave told me after the surgery and everything, his first text was, dude, I felt everything he said. He, he remembers being put on like, they're like, 1, 2, 3, slam his ass on the table. And they started going. He's like, dude, I legit felt stuff. And then eventually I felt like I fell back asleep. But how nuts is that? How crazy is that anyways?
Will Compton
Eyes open?
Tara Lawan
No, I don't know. They have like a, like with open heart questions. You got like a. You got a breathing tube. You got a breathing tube in the whole thing. I showed you the photo.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah, you did. You took a crazy photo.
Tara Lawan
I showed that dude literally because of anesthesia. So if you're watching on YouTube, you saw the position. We'll just make you make it one more time.
Will Compton
Should we just. Should we just put the phone.
Tara Lawan
No, no, dude, no. That was a photo I took to literally show Dave. Because Dave was like, did you come see me about. Yeah, I came and saw you. And there's a selfie photo of me.
Will Compton
Dave is here. Here's Dave, think stuff, face. He's out. Everything.
Tara Lawan
Here's Dave like just like a corpse essentially under. And I go to see him that Monday and the lady, the nurse is in there. I'm so uncomfortable. We're waking up now, it's been a couple hours. Ready to give him an extra dose. And he like starts to wake up and he's. You can tell he's in panic. And you see your old man like this and you're like, oh, fuck, dude,
Will Compton
go back to sleep.
Tara Lawan
Go back to see. Yeah, can I leave the room? Like, he's fine, he's fine. And they kind of leave and I'm like, I start to walk out the room and I hit him with the. I hit my dad with a little selfie just because I knew he wouldn't remember. And so he's like, did you come and see me? Yes, Dave, I came and saw. He's asked me more.
Will Compton
Here's the evidence.
Tara Lawan
Here's the evidence. I want you to know I did come and see you. Just trying to be a good son, dude. Just trying to be a good son.
Will Compton
We got another one here from Core Corp 98. This was, I think this was your analysis.
Tara Lawan
Well, this was our analysis and this is true basketball analysis.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
If you're good at basketball and you shoot it in the hoop consistently, you will win games. It's just a top tier analysis from the guy. Corp is correct. Corp98. He is correct in that if you listen, Sweet Sixteen is coming up this Thursday. We're all excited about it. It's incredible to see that not only Michigan, but also Nebraska, who before March Madness tournament was.08 all time in the tournament. They've now won two games. They've put themselves in the Sweet 16 against Iowa. The battle of the border is taking place again. So if Michigan and Nebraska. Stick with me here, boys, because this might get a little deep.
Will Compton
We got to go to the championship.
Tara Lawan
If Michigan and Nebraska put the ball in the hoop more consistently than Alabama and Iowa, they will win the game. Clip it. Just know I called it first. Whoever scores more will win.
Will Compton
That's great.
Tara Lawan
And I think I just want to know your feelings about Iowa, Nebraska. Oh, the rivalry. This is having kittle on last week.
Will Compton
Before we get into it. There's Mark Hughes. 73. 93. Troy's upsetting Nebraska. All right, that, that take didn't work out well six days ago.
Tara Lawan
Shoot or shoot though, that's got to go in the hoop.
Will Compton
This is all time. I don't think nobody predicted this, but I saw a tweet last night and I think related perfectly and I'll try and find the tweet, but the guy essentially said he posted. This is like when two travel baseball teams, you know, go to the big show, they're out in the country, going everywhere, all around and then you find out you're playing the team that grew up just across the street from you. This obviously is everything, but I'm fired up because Kevin's natural food. Clean take.
Tara Lawan
Love Kevin. Love Kevin. We love Kevin's natural foods foods.
Will Compton
Kevin's natural foods. I love all their foods because you can eat.
Tara Lawan
They have all of them. They have a bunch of different varieties.
Will Compton
But my clean take is this Nebraska Iowa matchup in March Madness for the Sweet 16 will be in the realm. This is a realm matchup of that you would see with Duke in North Carolina. As far as. Dude, they're going to make so much like the attention that's going to be on this game. Do you know what I'm Trying to say.
Tara Lawan
I know, hold on.
Will Compton
Like, I'm not saying what you're trying. I'm not saying Nebraska and Iowa, Blue bloods and college basketball in any form or fashion. I'm not saying that because you said
Tara Lawan
North Carolina and Duke and that probably rose some eyebrows.
Will Compton
Some eyebrows. But as far as, like, that rivalry, if they match up in one of these massive games, it's like, you know, everybody's like, oh, this is the rivalry of college basketball. Everybody's going to be tuned in. Everybody's going to be fired up. The environment is going to be crazy. Nebraska, Iowa is such a sneaky matchup for college basketball and March Madness. March Madness had no clue that they needed this matchup. Like, they will live in that realm of notoriety, just juice in the environment and just the overall rivalry between these two states. Like, these two states are thinking about nothing else other than beating each other right now. Not in, like, they own us in football. Like, this is just like, Nebraska fans are so fucking happy that I will beat Florida. And now that I was facing up Nebraska, like, this is. Everybody is trying to get tickets. Like, everybody's going to be tuned into this game. This is what the Midwest prayed for nationally. They don't know it, but this is what they needed.
Tara Lawan
Right. When the naughty, the deep state of college basketball were saying, like, what were the best matchups we could possibly ask for? This never crossed it, but there's a seeing it. They're like, okay, we got something here. The ratings. I don't know how the population of Iowa, Nebraska work. How would the numbers are there? They are considered flyover states. Those ratings are going to be through the roof.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
For this specific game.
Will Compton
Like as the deep State March Madness committee sitting there and they're trying to say this was. They were placing. Hey, these are the matchups that should happen. Referees make sure these matchups happen. There's a Liam Bluntman from Barstool sitting in the corner being like, you guys need to get Iowa, Nebraska.
Tara Lawan
And then people laugh.
Will Compton
They laughed.
Tara Lawan
They scoffed.
Cam Jurgens
Yes.
Tara Lawan
There's like, who let him in the room today? It's like, now.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Hey, bring him back.
Will Compton
Who's that creepy dude in the corner?
Tara Lawan
Right? Exactly. Got some weird energy about it. Yeah. Got some quiet kid energy in high school vibes, if you know what I mean.
Will Compton
Yeah. Yeah. And that kid's gonna be right.
Tara Lawan
Can I tell you, your Kevin's Natural foods Clean take. At first I felt like I was like at a five star French restaurant and their waiter comes up and he's very proper. And he kind of explains the specials and he says this is fantastic. But he uses a bunch of words you don't really know. So you don't. You're kind of taking his word for it at first, but you don't know if it's going to actually be delicious. And they bring that played out. Well. You served me through the process of breaking down your Kevin's natural foods clean take. That's a clean take. Oh, that's a clean take.
Will Compton
Thank you.
Cam Jurgens
Wow.
Will Compton
Good work, dude. Because obviously I have bias. I'm a big Nebraska sicko. Mostly Nebraska football sitco.
Tara Lawan
You're in Nebraska.
Cam Jurgens
Surprise.
Will Compton
Sue me. Yeah. But when I will pull that off. I had a full tweet written out for when they. It seemed like we're going to lose because it's Florida.
Cam Jurgens
Florida.
Will Compton
It's like they're a one seed. They're the national champions. I'm just thinking Florida's gonna win the game. I had a full tweet mapped out ready to hit send. And when they hit it and then Florida ended up missing in the last couple seconds like, bro. I'm like, this is like Christmas that we have this match of Nebraska and Iowa.
Tara Lawan
Who do you guys have if you guys beat Iowa? When you guys beat Iowa. Let's just play the game.
Will Compton
It'll probably be Houston. Good ball club.
Tara Lawan
Good ball club. You thought it would probably be Florida. Who's Houston playing? Don't matter.
Will Compton
Houston is. Houston is playing Illinois. Good ball club.
Tara Lawan
Big Ten. Big Ten. Sherm, you brought this up in the pre production meeting. Nebraska is Nebraska becoming a basketball school? Was your question. Was your question. We saw will similar face to that. Would just love to know your thoughts. We said save it for the pod.
Will Compton
Nebraska is a sports school. Hard stop. Like we are in the. Everybody obviously you got the port noise. You got the. The underlying tone of having the knife in and let's get them on this football. Let's get them on the football rocker.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
But at the end of the day like Nebraska is in the sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Never won a March Madness game. We won two now people thought we were going to lose Detroit just because again we. We've been. We've gotten here a couple times but we've never won what we're 0808.
Tara Lawan
But now you're never one.
Will Compton
People like, oh, you can see Troy beat Nebraska because they've just never been there. Now we've rattled off too. They won't be Vanderbilt beat Vanderbilt. Like we're in the Sweet 16. Our volleyball team is a blue blood in volleyball. Our wrestling team got third in March Madness. Two back to back, top three podium, which is the first time in our. In our. In the program's history. We are the best BO school of all time. No arguing, no debating. Our baseball team is back to back.
Tara Lawan
Big team arguing, no debating.
Will Compton
Our B. Our baseball team is back to back. Conference champions. Like our.
Tara Lawan
No arguing.
Will Compton
Our men's gymnastics team is nice. Our gymnastics team. Our gymnastics team is nice.
Tara Lawan
With back to backs. No argument, no debating. And then you just said nice, like how nice.
Will Compton
Men's gymnastics.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
We got a shitload of national titles. Yeah, they're flipping.
Tara Lawan
They're flipping.
Will Compton
Our diving team, I'm sure, is nice.
Tara Lawan
They got the Vince Von hold going on from old school.
Will Compton
Yeah. All say, like, Nebraska is a sports school.
Tara Lawan
Okay?
Will Compton
Like, there's no. Yeah, listen. Our football program has been down for over a decade. That's not. It is what it is down.
Tara Lawan
But on the come up, you guys have gone to two bowl games.
Will Compton
That's not debatable.
Tara Lawan
That's not debatable. That's fact. Big bad mowers. What was the one this year? Pinstripe.
Will Compton
We lost this year. It's Vegas. Vegas. We were in Vegas.
Tara Lawan
Vegas. That's the problem.
Will Compton
Utah beat us.
Tara Lawan
You know what's so just crazy to me is you guys watched the Nebraska game this past weekend.
Will Compton
Great game.
Tara Lawan
Those guys on the court and they're winning. Yeah, sure, dude.
Will Compton
They're nice.
Tara Lawan
They play well together, they have good fundamentals. A lot of effort.
Will Compton
People wanted gone over the last few years.
Tara Lawan
He's at 51.
Will Compton
Hoiberg's the head coach. Oh, his son Sam, he's on the team. He's on the squad. He run. He runs. Point Fred.
Tara Lawan
Sam.
Will Compton
Sam. I thought you were saying the head coach. He's a dog. Like, we got a good squad.
Tara Lawan
Do you guys have a hockey team?
Will Compton
No, we don't have like a school hockey team.
Tara Lawan
That's crazy in the baked hand.
Will Compton
No, Kevin's Natural Food. Clean take. It's gonna. It's gonna ruffle some feathers.
Cam Jurgens
Okay.
Will Compton
Kevin's Natural Foods. Kevin's Natural Foods. Clean take. Thank you. Kevin's Natural Foods. Nebraska's fan base is the best fan base in the country, bar none.
Tara Lawan
Taylor, rebuttal on his clean take. I love where it's at. His head's at.
Will Compton
Yeah, there's no fan base. That's just that supports their school program more than Nebraska fans.
Tara Lawan
Lovers. Heads up. Lovers. Headset. Is this Jack? Just let him have it. No, I'm asking a question. Is this specifically for Jack Canning?
Will Compton
No. I came in, I was saying that Clean, take, shout out. Kevin's Natural Foods. I was saying that, too. Jack. Jack got worked up. But I'm like, jack, here's how it hit me.
Tara Lawan
Other Jack. Even bigger. Sicko.
Will Compton
Jack Canning.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Chef Jack. You guys are. I put you. You guys are in the same tier. But I'm like. It hit me the other night because, again, I'm not. It's not like I watch college basketball all year round. It's not like I'm watching the Nebraska ball and the Corn Huskers all year round. But obviously, I'm watching them in March Madness, supporting my school. But seeing all of the love, seeing the national media and everybody else kind of like, take awe in how Nebraska fans travel, in my brain, I'm like, yeah, we all know this. But seeing everybody else kind of get introduced to it on the basketball level, because we've never been a good basketball team. We've been. We pack out and sell out everything. Like, again, when you look at the women's volleyball team, biggest crowd in women's sports history was at Memorial Stadium. Over 90,000 people watching that game. Anytime our. Our team is, like, going far in the tournament. Like, we Nebraska fans support their programs the most because they travel the best. They're everywhere in the country. They're scattered ever. There's no other school. There's no other competing school. There's no competing pro teams. There's nothing except the University of Nebraska. And when Chef was getting worked up because Jeff is a sicko. Tennessee Vols fan. Tennessee Vol fans.
Tara Lawan
Let him cook. All right? Just let him go when he's getting
Will Compton
worked up on my bro. Tennessee Vol. Fans are awesome. They're unreal. They're nice. Like, they are elite, but. And then I pointed right to Matt Malone, who's a social media producer of ours, who is like a. He's not a Fairweather Vols fan, but he's not like a. He's. He's not bought in. He can be in or out. It doesn't affect his day. I'm like, there are no Matt Malone's in the state of Nebraska. Like, it's nothing but Chef Jack's. JP's, Jack McPherson's across the board throughout the entire state. Young, old, doesn't matter. You're bleeding red, bro. You're wearing red. It's go Big red for life forever, no matter what.
Cam Jurgens
There is no tomorrow.
Will Compton
There is no tomorrow.
Tara Lawan
I can't argue that there's a lot of different arguments to that. However. I love it.
Will Compton
Give us one.
Tara Lawan
Okay, you said a lot, so we'll
Will Compton
go one by one.
Tara Lawan
He did say a lot. Okay, let's break this down. There's no other team that supports their team more than Nebraska does.
Will Compton
Which fan base would you say is better than Nebraska's? Let's start there.
Tara Lawan
What scale are we talking about? We're talking about, like, the best fan
Will Compton
base in all of college sports is the Nebra. The Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Tara Lawan
I think you can put LSU up there. Yeah, you absolutely can.
Will Compton
All right, let's back it up.
Tara Lawan
You could put Michigan in there.
Will Compton
No, you couldn't.
Tara Lawan
Yes, you can.
Will Compton
You get disgusted with Michigan fans every now and then.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that Texas game a couple years ago was stuff. But it's115,000 people. It's sold out every single time.
Will Compton
You guys just won a natty and left in the middle of the Texas game.
Tara Lawan
Ghost arena. That ain't happening has always filled out our. Our basketball team. They're always sold out. Like our field hockey games. I used to live across the street. It would get rowdy every single Friday or Saturday when they played. It was always sold out. Soccer games. Always sold out. So, like the sold out game. Here's your biggest.
Will Compton
Let's go to your next.
Tara Lawan
Here's your best. Here's your best. This is. You say words doesn't mean they're true.
Will Compton
We pushed your one time and went. Our fan base versus your fan base. How'd that go? Best argument got destroyed.
Tara Lawan
Your best argument is that there's no. There's no competing schools in Nebraska. That's a huge win for you guys.
Will Compton
Yeah. I'm saying try and give me some other team because LSU and Michigan ain't. They ain't better.
Tara Lawan
Oh, yeah. Texas A and M. That's a good one. Texas A and M. Texas A and M is a crazy, crazy cult fan base.
Will Compton
University of Texas, Texas, all the Texas schools. Dallas Cowboys like it is nothing but Nebraska Cornhuskers in the state of.
Tara Lawan
I wonder what Iowa's situation is like. I wonder how Iowa handles their sports. Is it the same as Nebraska? We'll find out. No, it could be.
Will Compton
Could very.
Tara Lawan
Like Iowa City rips. Anytime. Anytime I played there when I was playing at Michigan, sold out, going crazy loud nighttime getting after it. Maybe. Maybe louder than Nebraska.
Will Compton
I was little bro.
Tara Lawan
I was okay. I can.
Will Compton
For fan bases. For fan bases.
Tara Lawan
I could tell you're here. And that's all good. That's all good. You. Yeah. You know What? This is why I should have stopped. You got it. Nebraska. It's hard to argue their fan base. They are incredible. They're incredible.
Will Compton
Clean take.
Tara Lawan
But the shot about the merch thing going back and forth like, I didn't become a Michigan sicko until the last couple of years.
Will Compton
We could do it again.
Tara Lawan
That's. Listen, listen. Just relax.
Cam Jurgens
I saw something.
Will Compton
Just saying whenever it gets a substance, like, there's no. There's no substance in your arguments. You just tried saying I was better than Nebraska.
Tara Lawan
No, no, no. I said the stadium's louder from my one experience. My two experiences from 09 to 13.
Will Compton
Yeah, but that's false. Like, that's, like, factually false.
Tara Lawan
Okay, but he's speaking his truth. I'm speaking his truth.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Right.
Will Compton
Could he have some in the truth? Yeah.
Tara Lawan
What is. What is this?
Cam Jurgens
That's like, sick. Embarrass.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. I wouldn't say Baylor's up there. No, I wouldn't say Bay.
Cam Jurgens
I wouldn't either.
Tara Lawan
I wouldn't see. I wouldn't say TCU is up there.
Cam Jurgens
I wouldn't either. I. I did see something really disgusting and sad on Twitter over the weekend. I saw some Iowa fans, which will has less. No, not the greatest people out there. Drew a map of rivers that you can pee in in Iowa that flow into the state of Nebraska.
Tara Lawan
That is objectively funny.
Cam Jurgens
Just thought that was pretty disgusting and pretty.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that just.
Will Compton
I was like, nothing but respect for the Iowans.
Tara Lawan
That's objectively funny.
Cam Jurgens
It was so funny.
Will Compton
Flowing to Nebraska and that is such
Tara Lawan
a west thing to do.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
You know how we should get them? Just be at this river hill. Pull up a map. Jeff. Then pissing in streams like this one's going right to Memorial Stadium.
Will Compton
I have a universal question for everybody. Do you call them creeks or creeks?
Tara Lawan
Creeks.
Will Compton
I think I win the brat. Like, everybody up. Everybody in that area, they call them cricks.
Tara Lawan
They're stupid. Say the mic. Say the mic. Jared.
Will Compton
They're stupid.
Tara Lawan
That's just not the word.
Will Compton
I'm just saying it's. It's universal language up there that it's a. I'm not calling you stupid, but I call it a cricket creek. Crick is just not the word. That's just not it.
Tara Lawan
I always thought. I always thought that a creek was a smaller version of a creek. Like, it's the volume size, but that. That could just be me thinking and assuming something as a young kid. But, yeah, crick sounds like a smaller tributary.
Will Compton
Regional use crick is common throughout the North Midland Region, including parts of Iowa.
Tara Lawan
Is it a real world Also? Michigan probably travels as just as good, if not better than Nebraska.
Will Compton
You're still on that.
Tara Lawan
I'm talking about traveling. Michigan could probably pee in some rivers.
Will Compton
Yeah, you guys are up there all. We could get them all streams going south.
Tara Lawan
We get them all low key. You just go to one of those great lakes, you pissing that you're getting everybody. You're getting everybody. That's where all the water comes from. So we also. We have the high ground when it comes to peeing in lakes. We have the high ground on you guys. What else, dude? No, we definitely travel incredible. Like we. We were in bowl games when I played that we shouldn't have been in because of how well we travel. Let's go to the ag, dad. He said listening to this on Spotify. When Taylor dropped a coffin, literally stopped what I was doing to pop up YouTube so I could watch the reactions. Holy shite. Dude. Cry, laughing face. That was beautifully executed. A beautiful execution I did have.
Will Compton
There was some fodder out there saying that it was a technicality.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
On execution.
Tara Lawan
Whoa, whoa.
Will Compton
I'm not buying that.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, I'm not buying that. Who said. Who the said that?
Will Compton
People just wanted to see Taylor lose.
Tara Lawan
That's all right. Georgia. Probably Hawkeyes.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
Probably a Hawkeye. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Well, that's it. Hot guys. I thought you said hot guys. I was like, it probably was these douchey hot guys, wasn't it?
Will Compton
There's some cute guys out there.
Tara Lawan
See here, Let me see. See here.
Will Compton
All you gotta do is watch the reaction. That's.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, the react, hook, line.
Will Compton
And see if.
Tara Lawan
If you're getting met like a little messed up because vowels were used incorrectly. You'll never be able to take that reaction from me, ever. The feeling, the hat off, handshake. The handshakes in the back. George will feel that for a long time.
Cam Jurgens
And he was kind of quiet after
Tara Lawan
for a little bit.
Will Compton
Hey. The edit that was made and getting to zoom in on George's like, like eyes and facial reaction and everything else,
Tara Lawan
that clip was incredible.
Will Compton
You just see it was.
Tara Lawan
Who the made that clip?
Will Compton
He was drowned.
Tara Lawan
Mitch made that clip. Clippy Mitch. Crush that. Crush that dude. Yeah, that. Yeah. I went home and I called people about that. I. I called people about that and I was like, you got it. You gotta wait for this clip to come out. It's gonna be incredible.
Will Compton
Then you send a clip and then you're like, so what'd you think?
Tara Lawan
They don't respond for a couple Hours. Yeah. What'd you got, Jackie? I was handed a call back and look, I don't want to get nasty on them. Yeah, yeah. Bet the bus, huh? Is it the bet the bus one you got me with? No, no, because that one had a similar vibe to the. No, I was just handed a callback and it's in reference to someone talking about the Titans jerseys last week, calling them candy asses. I'm not gonna say specifically who that
Will Compton
was, but don't take shots at the tie ins. You work, get Jack worked up.
Tara Lawan
And I don't like this. I, I, again, we don't need to get nasty on a Monday. But from Texas, underscore 21. It's actually hilarious how consistently awful clump is, period. Oh, that's it. Second one. That's a salt. That's a solid look. And I'm not getting nasty. I'm just reading comments. Actual comments from our YouTube. This is not made up. This is not AI. This one's from Cody Daly, 6276. Yo, watch your mouth. Clump those units go hard and we will win in them. Hashtag, tighten up. That one's a little less nasty, but yeah, I was just, I was told to say this, so I just want to get the facts out there, get the information. When the news comes to your door, we can't be mad at you for reporting it. Yeah, right. You're the messenger in the. Objectively, just reading the news is the king of horrible. Takes and baiting people bait. And that's not news. That's not me reporting news. That's my opinion. When it all shakes out, it'll go 50 Cent. Jeremy clump in trolls. 50 Cent. Yeah, I mean, 50 Cent. I know. Jeremy Clump that, I mean, honestly, that was a massive. Is great. Yeah. Yeah, I think. Is this the last callback we have? Final callback. Gerando, Martinez, Clay, George, Will Delaney and Taylor selfie from Applebee's will be elite. I love how Delaney's popped into that. I love that he is. I have.
Will Compton
You needed Delaney.
Tara Lawan
You needed Delaney. Got to have a Delaney. You guys in the brass, you have one Delaney.
Will Compton
Needed Delaney, man.
Tara Lawan
Gotta have a Delaney. We have to get absolutely bombed at Applebee's slash Chili's. We've got to get bombed at one on a Tuesday day. George's words.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
We need to make a social graphic where the fans vote and we will do Applebee's Vers Chilies and then they can decide. I like that. Good. I like that.
Will Compton
That's a good that's my only hesitation. A lot of free shout outs to.
Tara Lawan
Really. We've said it. We're saying maybe we switch it up, go to old Charlie's. Who knows? Whatever happened to an Outback Steakhouse? Huh?
Will Compton
They're around. Or Buffalo.
Tara Lawan
Whatever happened to an Outback Steakhouse?
Will Compton
Or Buffalo Wild Wings?
Tara Lawan
A bw. Dude, that is a great Logan's. That is a great one.
Will Compton
Right?
Tara Lawan
Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. Good.
Will Compton
What about good vibes? Not that. The other ones.
Tara Lawan
Is there a Rainforest Cafe in the next 20 miles? I went to Rainforest Cafe this weekend and it absolutely holding up to the test of time when your parents would say we're going to Rainforest Cafe. That 2030 minute drive might as well be three days long. You're so excited. The opportunity to see all those animatronic animals. It's.
Will Compton
We almost went for Valentine's Day for real.
Cam Jurgens
We.
Tara Lawan
We had an 18 person reservation in Vegas at Rainforest Cafe and it truly was unbelievable. We had one server serving 18 guys and she was crushing it. And the food was honestly very solid. Middle of the road. Like you're not gonna complain about it, but you're not gonna go rave about it. But it did the job. And Rainforest Cafe, you're not going for the food. Yeah. You're going for the vibes. You're going for the atmosphere. The animatronic apes and. And the rainstorms that just come out of nowhere. Out of nowhere. It's awesome. Dude. There's an aquarium restaurant at Opry Mills Mall. Took my kids there. Food. Yikes. But we're not there for the food. We're there for the fun. Drinks.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
What's the. Was it islands something? Islands. There's another one that's similar to that.
Will Compton
That Grand Island. No.
Tara Lawan
Onward. But yeah, we got some good options because there's one right off the highway. That Outback Steakhouse right before you get on the highway by my old spot. That might be the move right there.
Will Compton
It's a good spot, guy.
Tara Lawan
Dude. A blooming onion. Oh, yeah. A well made blooming onion and a blooming blonde Their own brew. Whoa.
Cam Jurgens
Oh yeah.
Tara Lawan
Get bombed in an outback. I'm just saying. Getting bombed in an outback.
Will Compton
Did you guys check out the flag football classics by fanatics.
Tara Lawan
No, no. But I saw clips.
Will Compton
I'll tell you what. It was a good time.
Tara Lawan
It was a fun watch.
Will Compton
Yeah, it was a fun watch. We were out at the pool. I had it on. And then because I was surprised, I didn't even know the Team usa. The actual flag Football team. I didn't know that they were even in it. I didn't. To be honest, I didn't even really know what it was. The flag football game.
Tara Lawan
You just knew there's a flag football game. I knew it was going to be
Will Compton
at first in the Middle east, then it came to la.
Tara Lawan
Why?
Will Compton
I don't know. There could be some stuff going on.
Tara Lawan
Something going on in the Middle east right now. Yeah. Weather.
Will Compton
Yeah, it could have been some bad weather.
Tara Lawan
It's probably hot out there right now. That's fair.
Will Compton
But obviously they were promoting it through like, you know, Logan Paul and Tom Brady were going back and forth through like podcasting, social media, like Tom making fun of him, saying he's not an athlete. Then Logan Paul challenging any. Every NFL guy to a fight, which I thought was all to just bring attention to this flight football game that was going to take place. I just thought it was like Tom Brady had a team, Logan Paul had a team. Like they were just going to play flag football. Yeah. With a lot of these big name guys that got paid to go and play a flag football game. Yeah. So whenever I turned it on and I saw Team USA was out there, I'm wondering which, like Tom, like who's on Team usa? And then I just see it's these elite bastards that have been just talking all the noise in the world, like playing their game, being the best flag football team in the world.
Tara Lawan
Right.
Will Compton
Go up against the retired NFL players, current NFL players, some influencers. I see that the influencers and NFL players, they had split. They had two teams and then there was Team usa, the flag football team team. And they kind of just did like a round robin. It was fun to watch the flag football team. Team USA dummied. The NFL guys like it wasn't even close. Now obviously, you know, you think about playing flag football, you're sitting there learning about the game a little bit like schematically the rules, everything else. Like, clearly the NFL guys have no clue what's going on. They're kind of trying to figure it out a few days before.
Tara Lawan
What are some of the rule differences?
Will Compton
They only get a certain amount of downs to get to where it's like, it's. You only get like, like four downs to get to the goal line, half field.
Cam Jurgens
The way like I play down here, it's four, four downs to get to
Will Compton
the half, half field and then half fields. First and goal and.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, then first and goal and then with inside the five yards, it's called the no run zone, meaning the quarterback Cannot, like, take the snap and then just run. You have to.
Tara Lawan
Got you. Okay, okay, okay.
Cam Jurgens
And then there's like. You're not allowed to, like, stiff arm or anything. Like, that's like.
Tara Lawan
You just have to be elusive.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. So that's why when you see the people, like, duck down and, like, walk when their knees look like they're about to explode. It's called duck walking. Like, that's how you get away from.
Will Compton
Oh, and buddy, it's magical.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
It's crazy.
Tara Lawan
I saw the clip of that quarterback that was talking all that noise like, I'm better than my homes and better than this guy. What's that dude's name?
Cam Jurgens
Whoosh. Doucette.
Tara Lawan
Who should Doucet. And I saw him just kind of scamp around. I don't know how many yards he got, but it was a clinic.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Of just watching somebody who seemed like they were moving on warp speed compared to everybody else. Normal speed. Like, very impressive.
Will Compton
They drop down and do this duck walk shit. And then they'll turn sideways. Like this little sideways move. I was in awe. They destroyed, like, again. It was like, what was it? The founders team team USA and then the other, like, NFL team. But team USA whooped both NFL teams, like, 35 to 12 and like 45 to fucking 8.
Tara Lawan
Oh, like that killed. Well, yeah, if you're talking about being elusive. I mean, did see Tom Brady hit him with a little. He got over the left a little bit one time. Got a guy who was running a little, didn't set his feet, went off the diving board a little bit on his tackle. But you're not. That's not the quarterback you want in a fly football game. From what it sounds like, you need.
Will Compton
You need some mobility.
Tara Lawan
You need Lamar Jackson.
Will Compton
But it was fun to watch Tom Brady. Like, Tom Brady still, like, when he's talking on Shaq's podcast, saying, like, I go out there right now and still dominate. Like, you can see Tom Brady still as juice. It was fun watching Joe burrow obj, vintage OBJ out there grabbing a one hand. I did see that DeAndre Hopkins in the end zone. Somebody kind of like, moves old buddy little boys him and then catches it with one arm. It was just seeing Luke Keakley get out there and run around. He was a liability.
Tara Lawan
That clip is insane. Yeah. Luke Keakley, that was. That was the hardest thing for me to see on the bird.
Will Compton
Yeah. Oh, how. Why are they doing my boy like this?
Tara Lawan
Like, dude just got inducted into the hall of Fame, and you're going to Put him out there.
Will Compton
Yeah, but this Team USA, like the Olympics are coming for flag football in 2028. And I'm thinking Team USA, this, this group, this squad needs to be who's representing the USA and whoever they deem fit, whether it's a current or ex NFL player that they think can be on their team. To me, it's like that's Team USA's call because there are like some. You get a couple receivers again, it's like OBJ DeAndre Hopkins. But if Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, like they could. They're more than capable of being on Team usa. But to me, it's like the decision making needs to come from this Team USA squad because they are nice decision making.
Tara Lawan
That was so Gronk. That big of a body, that much of a catch radius. I would assume regardless, he would do well. He did not do well, but he
Will Compton
was in for like a couple plays. He hurt his hamstring.
Tara Lawan
All that nad. He does all that wants to do all the time, dude.
Will Compton
What was he done? No off. I didn't get to see it.
Tara Lawan
He does ozone. He does. He's in the hyperbaric chamber 16 times a day. And this boy can't keep a hemi rake.
Will Compton
He has soft tish injury prone man. Man, your best abilities availability.
Tara Lawan
No doubt about it.
Will Compton
Talking all that saying he'd whoop Logan Paul.
Tara Lawan
I think he got hurt on his touchdown. He scored and then when he tried to stand up, his leg like slipped
Cam Jurgens
out and it was weird.
Tara Lawan
It was kind of like a freak thing. I saw a clip of Joe Burrow hit like a hard like stop on that right leg spin move. And I think it was somebody commenting like, there's no way NFL owners are going to allow NFL players to ever do this again.
Cam Jurgens
The. What makes it so different is like it's five on. I believe it was five on five and like like the schematics of it all and like how you're able to like scheme people open. Obviously you do that in the NFL, but like it's so different and like I. I'm all in like the USA flag stuff. Like, I mean I watch their YouTube videos and everything like that. And it's. They're some legit athletes and like a lot of them played college ball somewhere
Will Compton
and then like that's what I'm saying. They just. They're elite athletes, but they just stop
Cam Jurgens
growing and they just know how to like move their body and they're the. The hardest part is grabbing that flag and they're just snipers with it and just makes them so good at it. God.
Will Compton
Great at grabbing the flag. Great at just changing their level. Yeah. Just changing their levels and still running while they're changing their levels.
Tara Lawan
Impressive.
Will Compton
It's crazy now if you give like again, you put the best, like the best NFL squad you can together and give them some time. I see.
Tara Lawan
Like to learn the rules.
Will Compton
Like they could figure it out. I'm not just saying they, they whooped us and it's, it's going to be that way forever. Like there's just, there's rules and schematics and just different things that clearly the NFL guys would just have to take time and learn. But I love just watching it. I love seeing Kyle Shanahan. He's calling plays on the side. Sean Payton's got the, got the little. What is it? Little paper clipboard. Clipboard. That's what got the little clipboard over his mouth. Like they're running like a real operation. Like they are. Like they're having fun, but they're also taking it serious because you know that they want to beat these guys. You know that both NFL squads wanted to beat each other. It was fun to watch. I enjoyed watching it.
Tara Lawan
Million dollar tournament they did, right?
Cam Jurgens
There was a, like a million dollar tournament like maybe five, six years ago and it was this Team USA team, but it was seven on seven verse old NFL players like again going against like Justin Forset, Jason Avant, Seneca Wallace and they were playing for a million dollars and the team USA like beat him by 20 points.
Will Compton
Yeah, they're good. And that little do set cat like he don't have like a fucking quarterback throwing motion by any means. He like, he going from the ear again. You could say you'd be sitting here, hit the snap count, just dish it off to your boy and he'll just go and try and skim him for 10.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, but he knows the play. Yeah, he's. He's facilitating as a point guard out there.
Will Compton
Dude, it's, it was, it was incredible.
Tara Lawan
I think when you're watching it, are you watching these NFL players and are they putting in 100 effort? Are you watching playoff football? Are you watching preseason football?
Will Compton
I'm watching. I'm witnessing them try.
Tara Lawan
Wow.
Will Compton
Like they're trying. Whether or not they're kind of goofing around or taking a light like, yeah, they can't get hurt. I'm sure they're thinking about that stuff. But you put them in a stadium with all this influence and, and attention around this game going into it, and they got Paid money to do it. I want to say Team usa, all of them got like a hundred thousand dollars, which is like life changing money or big money for them. But yeah, the NFL dudes were trying. They absolutely were like, they're having fun. But Saquon Barkley, who gets the ball, he's trying to get extra yardage. He's trying to juke. Dudes like Luke Keakley's trying to take all the right angles and cover his ground and have some range. There's just. There's just different things that go on that would take time to learn. But they were definitely trying to grab
Tara Lawan
a flag as opposed to. Yeah, all that seems like Saquon you would think would be so elusive, but even that spin of those flags are kind of flying off left to right. Probably easy to snipe for these guys.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
As opposed to doing the duck walk or whatever it is. That is nuts though. The more I hear you guys talk about this, the more I'm sick to my stomach. That bus with the boys wasn't out there.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
All that firepower, all those people, all the opportunities we could have had.
Will Compton
There's a part of me watching be like we should be out there. But also it's like again, thinking about the Olympics having Flash football in 2028. Like, it's just, how can we grow this game? Because I enjoyed watching it. It's like that a bus with the boys tourney host it. I mean. Yeah, that'd be fun.
Tara Lawan
Be sweet. Sounds like a lot of work.
Will Compton
Need to. Need a project manager.
Tara Lawan
An event on for us. Yeah, no doubt. Should we get into some tear talk? These fans, they're beaming.
Will Compton
Yeah, cuz talking Jurgens. Jergy. He'll be here in what, 10 minutes?
Cam Jurgens
Yes, sir.
Will Compton
He goes. Lord Jalen hurts. Threw a pick six two in the. In the game.
Tara Lawan
I saw your tweet mid season form.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Clump your statement. He also threw a touchdown down the right sideline to Devonte Smith, just like
Will Compton
the one he threw in the Super Bowl.
Tara Lawan
Kind of like right in the breadbasket
Cam Jurgens
when they won the Super Bowl.
Will Compton
Where you win with these NFL cats is the size. Like throwing the deep ball like again. JJ, Justin Jefferson out there like going up top. DeAndre Hopkins, Odell. Those guys. Like, those are examples where it's like you could.
Cam Jurgens
Can.
Will Compton
You can figure something out here. You just need more time to practice and prepare and kind of like learn the game.
Tara Lawan
And there's no blocking.
Will Compton
No. No blocking.
Tara Lawan
Okay.
Will Compton
So you can't even. You'll get called for a Holding call.
Tara Lawan
Don't respect it, bro.
Will Compton
If you miss, say you miss a flag, and I just get you like this. They'll throw a flag, and it'll be a holding call. Like, it's pretty.
Tara Lawan
Oh, it's precise. You got to be a sharpshooter, little sniper. They be Chris Kyle with them. With them flags.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
All right. Hit some tear talk before we get into Cam Jurgens here. Public schools top 25, national at top 25 public. HSFB says hashtag tear talk. How long will it take Will's brothers team to make it into the public school top 25 over under two years. Will Compton. I'll let you take it.
Will Compton
Is there a public school top 25?
Tara Lawan
That's what this. This Twitter account is. Public schools top 25.
Will Compton
If there's a rankings out there, we got to get in the national rankings. I got to be careful.
Tara Lawan
You got, like, IMG in there. You got Bishop Gorman. You got, like, a bunch of crate. Bishop Gorman's the fake. Fake school, isn't it?
Cam Jurgens
You're right.
Tara Lawan
Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I always mess up the fake school in that one. But there's a. There's some, like, heavy hitters. Heavy hitters.
Will Compton
Got to be careful.
Tara Lawan
De La Salle, they're always in that thing. Chaparral, Loki. We were in it for a minute. Like, it was after I left. But just letting you know, I can't
Will Compton
be out there putting too much expectation right there. You know what I mean?
Tara Lawan
Let's get. Let's win a state.
Will Compton
Because even last week, when I'm saying, oh, we've been lax, we've been to the corners, we've been in the semis, we've made an appearance in the state championship back in 97. I had my face paint. I was a young, little boy, about eight years old, face painted NC on my face. Went to the dome, Edward Jones Dome, when the Rams had a team. But I said that last week, the old head ball coach was under my tweet saying, there's a lot of. There's a lot that goes into, like, winning games. I. I feel like I saw. Hang on. What I'm saying is I felt like I was saying something and kind of talking to White and be like, we've been so lax, and we don't care about years past, like, how are we going to go and win a state title title? And I feel like my old ball coach, Coach Jones. Shout out. Coach. I love Coach Jones. I feel like he might have took it a little personal.
Tara Lawan
No doubt, because the way you were Talking. If I'm the guy that was there for multiple decades, it sounds like.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah.
Tara Lawan
I would take what you said personally.
Will Compton
Coach Jones was our O line coach when I was in high school.
Tara Lawan
Right.
Will Compton
We went undefeated. He cried like he loves. He bleeds blue and gold.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
So when I saw his comment under my tweet, when I was kind of hyping why and kind of like doing the whole theatrics thing. Thing with Wyatt, he was like, there's a ton that goes into being all lax. And I'm like, listen, I didn't even. I'm just trying to hype.
Tara Lawan
I didn't mean it like that.
Will Compton
I'm trying to hype up coach.
Tara Lawan
Right? So over under two years to be top 25.
Will Compton
Listen, I'm not going to sit here and talk expectations. I don't want to put my foot in my mouth.
Tara Lawan
You kind of. You put yourself in a cash 22 kind of.
Will Compton
Well, because we can go in a state title and I expect that. Like, hey, if you want to do this and you want to do this job for real, you got to think long term about this to go and get a state title. Like, why not? Why not you? Why not this squad? Why not Bonter Missouri.
Tara Lawan
Right.
Will Compton
So that's kind of like my,
Tara Lawan
you
Will Compton
know, my advice to why, like, kind of the hype there. But as far as, like, being out in front, we're gonna whoop everybody's ass. We're gonna be in the top 25. We're gonna be this and that. I have no clue what kind of
Tara Lawan
ball club he's got because now you're playing in the high school bulletin board material area. So for you, I get the line you're trying to walk right now. You're just so far on one side. Last week now I'm like, expectation. We talked 25. Like, we don't want to expect. You're basically hit me with the Wyatt.
Will Compton
That'd be cool because with Wyatt, I'm starting with the why, the vision and everything else here. I'm more so just talking the end result foundation.
Tara Lawan
What I expect versus looking down for too much.
Will Compton
There it is.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, let's. Let's build a good foundation. Yeah, let's build a good foundation.
Will Compton
I got one here from Dick Richard.
Tara Lawan
Dick Richard Rich.
Will Compton
A Rich underscore. LMN on X Hypoth with the new NFL player jersey number rules, what single digit number would will Compton choose to wear? And if Taylor Juan played for a team where 77 was retired, what would be his choice? If I Had a single digit number. Probably five.
Tara Lawan
Five is cool.
Will Compton
I love five. I loved seven because of Michael Vick. And then when Tyrod Taylor was coming through the ranks and he was a dog, he was number five at Virginia Tech. So I was. I kind of gravitated toward, oh, I kind of like five. It's kind of bigger on the jersey, so I like five.
Tara Lawan
So cool. If somebody went to a different team and they had 77, would. What number would I wear? I would find out what their number is first. We played that game for a little bit and I think I'd be seven figures to get that number.
Will Compton
But if it's retired.
Tara Lawan
But if it's retired, can't do it. 69.
Will Compton
69.
Tara Lawan
Something about like Bakhtiari out there. LT with the 6. 9. Like, there's so many ways to play with that number. Have fun with it.
Will Compton
Your mullet would be there.
Tara Lawan
I would for sure. By the way, I got a haircut tomorrow. I'm thinking about. I'm thinking about bringing it back because I got a little whisk in the back. Yeah, I'm thinking of keeping the whisk, keeping it tight on the sides. Anyway, that's not the question that took place. I think we have some breaking news. We have breaking news right now. Pizza boy Dave Portnoy has tweeted at a. What seems like allegedly a text message thread between him and Will Compton. I spent half the show complimenting Nebraska and their fan base. Don't fall for clickbait. I also personally congratulated you and offered to mentor you on how to act when being in the sweet 16. What does the tweet say? Can you zoom in? Because my eyes. Yep. We're gonna go boom, boom, boom. As somebody who routinely gets to the sweet 16, I wanted to welcome you to the round. If you have any questions on what to expect, how to handle yourself, etcetera, I'm here for you. Dave Portnoy. Street. Will Compton responds. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. Bro, this is crazy. The majority of our fan base is in tears right now, tasting success like this. Okay. Driving seven hours to make it feel like Lincoln. Great fans, says Dave Portnoy. It's like giving water to a guy in the desert. Your response?
Will Compton
You know, he's right. I mean, what the response to what the.
Tara Lawan
He Will. He. You called him a pizza boy. He said he just turned 67 in a prior tweet. Street, which There. Which Jared Beeman is.
Will Compton
Yeah, because he's going all. He's going off on Lincoln. Like they Got nothing out there. They got nothing to root for.
Tara Lawan
Which is what you said earlier in the show.
Will Compton
No, he's talking about, like, sports teams. Like, they. There's nothing for them to ever root for. So the fact that they have a team advancing this far, he's saying, yeah, it's Lincoln. There's nothing out there. They got nothing to root for. He's like, with Michigan, it's like, we root for the hockey team, do we root for the basketball team? Do we root for the football team? Team's kind of like, you know, he's, he's doing the whole. Where he stabs the fan base, but also gives him a hug. Like, I'm also rooting for you guys. I'm GBR all the way.
Tara Lawan
Gladiator.
Will Compton
Yeah. So I'll, you know, I go, there goes pizza boy. Portnoy. Just turned 60. Happy belated birthday Dave. Just turned 16.
Tara Lawan
Birthday Dave. Happy belated birthday. So you're totally fine with the tweet?
Will Compton
He said, yeah, look, it's just playing on the socials. Like, he, he, he can say whatever he wants. He is patent. He is. He's patting Nebraska fans on the head when he says stuff, stuff like that.
Tara Lawan
All right.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Okay, we got ourselves. We get to that one. Nash Vegas says, oh, this is at Andy Pace. Music with an X says, what's the fine line between hater and passionate fan? Nothing worse than a hater. It's a great question. Clean tank. I would say Jimmy Klump is a hater. Right. Looks for the opportunity to put you and your fan base down. Passionate fan is somebody like Jack McPherson. Great, by the way. Mitch is like, like an orchestra with me right now, pointing different guys. I'm like, you are absolutely right. Guys that just love their guys. Their. Their team loses, the next day, they're on suicide watch. That's. That's a passionate fan. A passionate fan, but rarely do you hear them speak illy of their team. Just I think a nice little line too critical of the team. But once it gets personal, that's when we get into hater hater category. Okay, Mitch, again with the point head clump. Do you have any
Will Compton
difference between a passionate fan and a hater? Yeah, I feel like passionate fan is. They're. They're mainly talking in the ecosystem, like, of their fandom for their team. Whereas a hater is going beyond that scope and just going after teams and after players and after their boys.
Tara Lawan
Right. Who's not their team.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
If it's not, if it's not a rival team, it's just a random team and you're just trying to pat them on the head or be. Dave could be considered a hater of Nebraska, but he does it in such a weird way.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah. What would you guys say? You guys are in all these same circles.
Tara Lawan
Sherman's got like 15 burners. Sherman would be considered probably a hater at one point in his life.
Cam Jurgens
You know, I think there was a part in my life where I was a hater. I think, you know, when you make burners for other sports teams that you're not even truly a fan of and
Tara Lawan
you're mixing the pot and you're starting
Cam Jurgens
all these arguments, you know, what is the end goal? What are we doing here?
Tara Lawan
What's going on?
Cam Jurgens
And chaos. Okay. I think it was just chaos. It was kind of similar to the Dark Knight where he's talking about the butler is in Burma and they're going after the jewel thief. And they were like, you know, he
Tara Lawan
was stealing all these jewels in the
Cam Jurgens
caravans, but we never found the jewels until a little kid was just playing on the side of the road with
Tara Lawan
a jewel the size of a grapefruit. Is that the quote? Some people just want to see the world burn.
Cam Jurgens
I think that's a hater.
Tara Lawan
And I'm slowly making my way into
Cam Jurgens
a passionate fan from a darker past on Twitter. And I'm growing. I think having a child has done
Tara Lawan
a lot, no doubt, for, like, me
Cam Jurgens
growing as a human, having better priorities, etc. But yeah, that's my breakdown.
Tara Lawan
That's growth. Thank you.
Will Compton
And overall, for entertainment, I think you need them both. Gotta have, gotta have them both.
Tara Lawan
It maybe it may be good to have a little hater sleeping in you somewhere.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. Clean take.
Will Compton
Clean take. Thank you. Kevin's Natural Foods.
Tara Lawan
Shout out to Kevin's Natural Foods. Eric J. Bah. Bomber. Bomber. Eric J. Bomber. Do you think a blue blood wins the national championship next year or do you see another Indiana winning?
Cam Jurgens
It
Tara Lawan
can. It just depends what you call a blue blood. Because the team I'm eyeing up is the same team I had up last year and in the Northwest. Dan Lanning, Oregon Ducks is a team that I look at and you have Dante Moore that came back. He foregoed going to the NFL. I'm going to come back for one more year. Their backup was a starter at a major, major power forward school last year and six other football players got their. You know, you put in a little thing that says, what am I going to be in the draft? Where am I expected to go? A bunch of these guys were day one, day two picks. They decided, I'm going to come back for another year. Feels very much like the 2023 Michigan Wolverines, where a bunch of guys come back. Feels like a team of destiny type of situation. Obviously, Dan Lanning, friend of the show. All those you'll be a big fan of.
Will Compton
Great friend of the show.
Tara Lawan
Great friend of the show. However, I could see Oregon winning it all this year.
Will Compton
Yeah, it feels like the stars are aligned for Oregon to win a national title this year. The fan base deserves their fan base rips. Their players are bought in. You gotta look at Lanning if they don't get it done this year there.
Tara Lawan
So hold on. Hey, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Lanning has got. There's, there's early whispers, and this is by Josh Pay. Early whispers about Lanning having a James Franklin esque narrative behind him.
Will Compton
You don't.
Tara Lawan
Early whispers.
Will Compton
You don't want to be Danny Franklin.
Tara Lawan
You don't want to be Danny.
Will Compton
Winning the big one.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that got there a couple years.
Will Compton
Being highly ranked. You got all your boys back, great athletes, great players. You got the fan base rally behind you. We got to get. We got to get over the hump.
Tara Lawan
Got to get over the hump. Something.
Will Compton
And it starts at the top.
Tara Lawan
Starts at the top. And who's the top?
Will Compton
Dan Lanning.
Tara Lawan
Phil Knight, then. Dan Lanning. Yes, absolutely.
Will Compton
Phil Knight ain't going nowhere.
Tara Lawan
He ain't. Well, hopefully.
Will Compton
I'm not calling for his head.
Tara Lawan
It's not calling for his head.
Will Compton
This is if I'm in a room. If Dan Landing was on the bus, I bet. Hey, you gotta get it right this year.
Tara Lawan
And if Dan Lanning, If Dan Lanning's watching this episode and he takes offense to Will Compton's comments, all that's saying to me is maybe you're not ready for the moment because you need that criticism. You need that you're back against the wall type of mentality. He talked about a keystone species when they played Ohio State. Like, are you actually gonna be a keystone species? Are gonna be one of them bitches that go extinct? That's your choice. But you're the one that holds the keys to that situation.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, I don't think he's got any Franklin in him. Listen, he's beating a lot.
Tara Lawan
He's beating all the.
Cam Jurgens
He's beaten Ohio State. He's beaten. He's won the Big Ten championship against Penn State. Yes. He hasn't won like the bowl games and like the, the ones that Matter.
Will Compton
However, Franklin, that spot, It's a bad exit. This is a nasty exit.
Cam Jurgens
But Franklin never even won those games against Ohio State. Never even. Like, I think he won hardly. I think maybe one Big Ten championship in, like, six tries. Franklin, that's up here. I don't think landing is anywhere close to that territory overall.
Will Compton
If we're sitting here from the ball, busting ment reality, I'm calling for his head.
Tara Lawan
4.
Will Compton
If people were taking that serious, I'm obviously not calling like, that's in that back joke.
Tara Lawan
Hated seeing that backtrack.
Will Compton
It's not a backtrack. Mitch made it seem like it was real. So I'm like, okay, maybe you didn't see my laugh after I said the thing.
Cam Jurgens
Top five possible analysts, they're gonna. Something you say, they're gonna run with it.
Will Compton
Look, he's got a cash in or cash out, right? You know what I'm saying?
Tara Lawan
Gotta know when to hold them, knowing to fold them. Yeah, Got to know. Got to know those things.
Will Compton
And this year, I'm saying push the chips in.
Tara Lawan
Push them in the middle. Texas Tech for the Big 12. In the SEC. I kind of like LSU. I don't love LSU because Elaine Kiffin stuff. And it could truly be a wildfire at certain points. And how much does that fire get out? But the RPO, Charlie Weiss Jr. The way they operate. Sam Levitt comes in, the aliens they have on both sides of all their defense, if it does keep progressing the way it has the last three years, lsu, don't be nice. That rpo, dude, that RPO is Texas.
Will Compton
Is another one sleeping on Arch Manning.
Tara Lawan
That. I don't think this Arch Manning is not the person I'm sleeping on. But I'll take it on. Keep your eye on. No, I'm just kidding. Let's get to Cam Jurgens, huh?
Will Compton
Clean day.
Tara Lawan
Clean tank. Clean tank. Clean take. I'm not sleeping on Arch Manning. Clean tank. Shout out Kevin's Natural Foods. Let's get in the episode with Cam Juergens I've seen right here. Need to wrap. And now is it not one, but a two time multiple time Pro Bowler. Let's give it up for Camp Jerky.
Will Compton
Beef jerky.
Tara Lawan
Beef jerky. The family owns a cattle farm. Boy owns his own beef jerky. Those two go the same. Do you guys use your own cows for your beef jerky?
Cam Jurgens
We don't. We don't. Okay.
Will Compton
We.
Cam Jurgens
We don't have that big of a. A ranch. We probably have like 40 head of cattle.
Tara Lawan
Okay.
Cam Jurgens
It's just a cow calf operation.
Tara Lawan
All right?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Explain to me a cow calf operation. You just said it off the tip of your tongue like it was nothing. I don't know about that.
Will Compton
You.
Cam Jurgens
You impregnate the cows.
Tara Lawan
How do you do that?
Cam Jurgens
Have we got a couple bulls sometimes AI. Artificial insemination.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
A little different, dude, isn't? And then you sell off the calves every year there to the sale barn.
Tara Lawan
Do you take. So you take babies from their moms?
Cam Jurgens
Yes.
Tara Lawan
And you give them to somebody else? Yeah. And then hell yeah, dude.
Will Compton
Forever in the breeding process. Nuts.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, dude.
Will Compton
I'll just say I've had one experience where a family friend, they were out of town, so I was in charge of helping go to the farm, do some chores, feed the cattle, like do some different things.
Tara Lawan
Things.
Will Compton
And one morning I got there was like six in the morning and they're trying to impregnate this one, you know, chick cow. And they brought this bull in and they just. They trapped the. They like trapped the girl one. And then the bull, they're trying to get them all horned up and ready to go. And old boy just gets up and I'm sitting there, I'm young too. I'm just like, what the is going on? And they, they get it up like he's about to rip out. Get on in there. And then they go in there and they slide this little condom.
Tara Lawan
Flashlight.
Will Compton
Yeah, a little flashlight on. Pop. Pop. He's done. He's already done within seconds. Yeah, pop it on, take it out. And that's how they get the. That's how they got the sperm, bro.
Tara Lawan
Have you.
Will Compton
And I'm like, yo, that's the most craziest thing.
Tara Lawan
Have you not seen the way they impregnate the cows that will horses after, from what I've seen, bro. So all the things you said. We, we. I grew up on like a small boarding ranch, but a couple ranches down, they would do like, you know, the studs and all the things they would Bring the girl out, put her in a round pen, and they would take the stud out. The horse's name was Gangster Chick, by the way. Badass horse, reigning horse. He'd walk out, he'd start to get horned up. Start slapping that thing against his belly. Then you bring him up to, like, this pad. It's like a fake horse. And then you bring the girl over, and he hops on the thing. You put the fleshlight on. He does his business in two seconds. But to get the girl pregnant, you put this glove on that's, like, up to your shoulder, and you go inside, and then you take, like, a little tube and you put it in there and, like, goes through, like, this layer. Correct. And then you. And then you syringe. You put it in there.
Cam Jurgens
You basically turkey base the girls of this, huh?
Tara Lawan
No, I had to do this. I had to do this.
Cam Jurgens
Oh, you.
Will Compton
You've been shoulder.
Tara Lawan
Yes, yes.
Will Compton
Damn.
Tara Lawan
Once. It was horrible.
Cam Jurgens
How was it?
Tara Lawan
Kind of warm. Whoa, whoa, whoa. It's the inside of a animal. Yeah, of course it's gonna be warm. Don't be nasty. So you don't use your jerky.
Cam Jurgens
All right, we can start the rolling now.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, yeah. What. What made you want to start a jerky company?
Cam Jurgens
I mean, it all started in college with Nil. I mean, and I started my last year of college. I'm thinking name, image, likeness. Nebraska gave us. Like, they want to make logos for us. And they. They asked, like, what I wanted for a logo, whatnot. And I'm like, well, everybody calls me Beef Jerky, so do, like, a bowl. Beef Jerky. And then I ended up starting to make T shirts because I'm thinking, like, Nil, you need to make, like, a product, build a brand, a business, and sell something. But I was so wrong, because these kids just get paid to play. And I'm like. So I built a business. So it was pretty cool.
Tara Lawan
That's awesome.
Cam Jurgens
And so I've been growing it ever
Will Compton
since the long game game, though.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, it's a long game.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
You're playing the long game, but, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Then started making jerky with a local locker in town, and then ended up switching to a place out in Pennsylvania, Stony Point. And, I mean, it's the best jerky I've ever had. It's incredible. I need to. Didn't come in in time. I need to ship some out here, guys.
Will Compton
I was almost thinking you were gonna come in with a box.
Tara Lawan
I thought he'd have gifts as well.
Will Compton
I thought. I was expecting that. I was just Yeah, I was kind of expecting.
Cam Jurgens
I've been busy. I'm sorry.
Tara Lawan
Busy man.
Will Compton
So did you get. Did you get paid your senior year?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
How much?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, Polly, like, I thought I was the richest man on earth. I think I got like 30 grand. I was insane. Yeah, I was just telling these guys, like, the. It was so different my last year of college because, like, I didn't need to pre game and then go to the bars because I could afford buying beers at the bar. It was huge change.
Will Compton
Huge.
Cam Jurgens
Huge. And now these guys are just getting Land Rovers and, like, hunting hundreds or millions. Yeah, bro. I was there at the wrong time.
Tara Lawan
No doubt.
Will Compton
What was your scholarship check? Your, like, freshman through junior stipend?
Tara Lawan
I don't know.
Cam Jurgens
It's probably like 1200.
Will Compton
That's pretty. That was up from like, I was 850.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
But you can make that go, like, as a college.
Cam Jurgens
Well, Nebraska's cheap.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
So that was a lot. I already thought I was living it.
Will Compton
Yeah. Especially you keep costs low and you got a few hundred or several hundred dollars left over.
Tara Lawan
You feel like you're leftover is a crazy comment.
Will Compton
Like you're like, you're coming up, up, but then you get 30 grand. Like, you feel like you're operating in a whole different world. Now. These kids are getting millions. Millions of dollars.
Tara Lawan
Millions and millions of dollars.
Will Compton
Like, backups are getting six figures. Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Like, out of high school. I don't. Yeah. I don't understand it.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. We would do. We would get 1250amonth for our rent checks. And I think 500 went to rent immediately. So I had that, like, whatever, 750 left. And I think after the first weekend, I was like, oh, I got to make this 200 last the rest of the month. Month. Never had new clothes.
Will Compton
Never.
Tara Lawan
I was like, that weekend, Rick's. All those bars just going out. That's when you thought, like, that first weekend of the month. You feel like you're the man. And then you're back to poverty in a big way, itching for that Scully check, aging for the scholar check. Hits when it hits. Yeah, but this Nil thing, I couldn't imagine myself, my. My brain, 18 years old, making even $30,000. I. That would just. Did you see a lot of kids, like freshmen coming in, making a lot of money and just being like, they're wild about it?
Cam Jurgens
No, I mean, it was just that one year. So, like, hardly anybody was making money.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Like, it was just deals. I remember I had to deal with this, like, farm equipment. Place in Nebraska. They sent me a box of, like, T shirts and hats, and I got a hundred dollars for Instagram posts. This is sick.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
I was handing out koozies.
Tara Lawan
That's awesome, because then you.
Will Compton
You. You. You envy the kids who got the. The Pell Grant they get that semester. Like, man, they have $5,000.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Remember one year I got $1800 and I was like, both semesters.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
It was a game changer.
Tara Lawan
Dave Ramsey program.
Will Compton
Yeah. Envelopes.
Tara Lawan
One one.
Will Compton
Yeah, them.
Cam Jurgens
You take those summer classes so you can get those summer checks, too.
Will Compton
Yeah. Did you ever work a summer job? Like, I. I ripped Sid Dylan every summer.
Cam Jurgens
Really?
Will Compton
Yeah, with Tim Peeper.
Cam Jurgens
No, I did not.
Will Compton
Yeah, you got to get the summer jobs, bro. You were sleeping.
Cam Jurgens
I was trying to get a job.
Tara Lawan
Sleep at the wheels at a golf
Cam Jurgens
course in town just to get some free golf, but I was just golfing too much to do it.
Tara Lawan
What was it like for you, being a tight end and going to Nebraska and being asked to play at center?
Cam Jurgens
That was weird. It was. It was weird because I first get to. I mean, in college or high school. My last year ended up breaking my leg and dislocated my ankle. So I was on crutches for, like, four months. And so I was probably, like, 230, 240. But then when I got to Nebraska, I was like, 270, because I was just like. I ballooned up in a few months. And then I get there and go through out, like, summer, spring ball and everything, like, trying to get ready for the season. Everything's tied in. And then I think, like, the week before the first game, Frost sat me down, and he was like, hey, what does it mean to play for Nebraska for you? I'm like, oh, I'm moving the D line or something. And then he's like, hang on.
Will Compton
Did you have a rough training mini camp? No, dude, I was.
Cam Jurgens
I was balling, you know, like, really? I mean, I wasn't catching mini balls, though. Like, I was just blocking dudes. And. Yeah, he just. He's like, we want you at the center next year. What do you think about that? I'm like, I'm gonna have to get back to you on that thinking, like, all right, maybe I just need to get faster. I think two weeks later, I was like, dropped 20 pounds just like that. I'm like, maybe I just need to get a little faster. Maybe I'm not fast enough.
Will Compton
And you took that combo to heart. You're like, okay, I gotta. I gotta trim some weight. I gotta Prove to them that, no, I don't need to go to center.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. And then, like, week four, I came in, in the morning. They're like, hey, you're in the O line room for meetings this morning. I'm like, all right, I guess.
Tara Lawan
Oh.
Cam Jurgens
And I just went in, like, and just locked in and did everything I could, like, trying to learn how to be an O lineman. And long process. I mean, it's just so different than everything.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
So it was a lot of bumps in the road, getting there and transition. Started doing O line. But then I was still, like, traveling as a tight end that first year. So I practiced with, like, scout team online. They'd have me at center, and, like, I couldn't snap a ball, so I would just have, like, a foam ball, just snapping it and just learning how to do all that. And then I think I broke my. My foot, like, midway through the year. So now I was out the rest of the season. And so, like, I was just lifting and drinking protein just every day, all day, every day. I think I gained, like, 40 pounds in two months. Just right back up. Got up, like, 270. And then I was just moving, you know, and then getting ready for, like, summer ball, trying to learn how to be an old lineman. Like, dude, I couldn't get my second foot. Foot down to, like, save my life, you know? Like, I was just like, like, long strides everywhere I was going. So tough to, like, pick that up, especially at center. And then get to, like, summer, right before fall camp. I break my other foot, dog.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And then end up, like, redoing another one. So, like, I didn't really practice at all, like, at center. Like, I was just on the sideline learning. I might have had, like, less than 10 healthy practices at center trying to learn. And then I started the first game of the year, like, with hardly any practice or, like, knowing what I'm doing. And I think we were playing Southern Alabama, and I'm still learning everything. Like, I got no idea what it's going on. They're just throwing me into the fire. I'm learning as I go.
Will Compton
You're just finishing through the whistle?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, I'm just playing hard. Yeah. I'm just doing everything I can that I know how to do. And I remember we'd go out there and, like, we're practicing against, like, a four, three, just, like, normal stuff. And we go out there. I didn't know at the time, but they came out in a 3, 3, 5 stack. And I go to the sideline. Oh, line coach like, yo, what. What are they in out there? What are you seeing? I'm like, I don't know, dude.
Will Compton
Dude.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that's got to be was. So when they're like, hey, you're in the O line room, like, you just walk into the building and they're, hey, by the way, no, no, you start to walk to the tight end. Like, no, no, you're gonna go this way. Now, mentally, for you, how was that? Because I know there's a lot of kids that have had to go switch, and they probably had a difficult time, like, mentally getting over that hurdle of, this is the type of athlete I am. And then when somebody has to tell you, no, you're actually this type of athlete, it might not be what you want. Did it take you a moment? Because you. You already. You're already like, your personality is team first type of guy. You can just tell you're like an old line cat. But was there a moment for you? You're like, man, this place, dude, for,
Cam Jurgens
like, one day until 24 hours. Yeah, it was quick.
Tara Lawan
Quick.
Cam Jurgens
And then I went out and practiced, and, like, all I did was just hit people every. Every snap. Like, I just go out, hit somebody. I'm like. Went through a whole practice get done. I'm like, man, I. I realized I hated running, like, 20, 30 yards downfield for them, not throw me the ball. I get to hit somebody every play, and I don't have to, like, do some dumb and run down the field for them, not throw it to me. So. So, yeah, I'm like, this is for me. Yeah, it was quick.
Will Compton
And since you got to essentially start in week one, only having, like, less than 10 healthy practices, like, how quick was it for you to realize, like, oh, I can be good at this position?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, it took. It took like a year or two. And just learning how to snap the ball, like, it takes a while, you know, you just need a lot of repetitions. And I feel like everybody in the state of Nebraska probably hated me for a couple years. Dude, just. I write high right? Big snaps and, you know, there was just a lot of hurdles, like, get through and, like, learn everything. But, yeah, it's just, you know, the game's so fast when you learn a new position and. And you're going from high school to college, and then, you know, once you get better, everything just slows down. But yeah, like, my last couple years there, like, I, you know, I realized this is the right decision for me. You know, I'm gonna be able to go to the league and Play and, you know, not many people want to have a tight end like, like six three, you know.
Tara Lawan
When did you know?
Cam Jurgens
You're like, oh, damn, that's a crazy phone.
Tara Lawan
Look kind of nice there.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
Respect the fours.
Tara Lawan
The dude. Something about Nebraska 44s, man.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Who was that tight end?
Will Compton
He was nice. I'm drawing a blank on his name right now.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, but he looks like a robot out there.
Will Compton
He had, like, jacked up, too this year.
Tara Lawan
This year.
Will Compton
The tight end we got this year. Yes, yes, yes.
Tara Lawan
Would run the F. He would run in a whole bunch of different positions. He was a big motion guy for you. Yeah, it was awesome. Some of 44. And you rock five one, too.
Will Compton
When did you know that you had a potential to go to the league? Like, I'm sure that even that moment of realizing, like, oh, coaches are kind of telling me X, Y and Z or damn, I didn't realize, like, I could go to the league being a center dude.
Cam Jurgens
Probably my last year there, like, I, you know, like, I just go throughout, like, not knowing, like, growing up in Nebraska, all I want to do was just be a Corn Husker and play. And so, like, I'm like, that's my pinnacle. And so, like, I'm like, I already. I already hit my pinnacle, you know? Like, I was even thinking about the NFL. I didn't watch the NFL growing up. Besides, like, I was a huge fan of sue. And so, like, when he went to the Lions, like, I would watch the Lions.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
So, like, it was. It was just Nebraska ball. So, like, I watched you growing up and, like, all that, like, that was a good defense back in the day, obviously.
Tara Lawan
Hey, how'd that feel? Really?
Will Compton
It feels good. But it fires me up hearing, like, he grew up Nebraska and his whole. Because, again, like, the walk on program's the best. Like, all this stuff, like, when you get around. Because I grew up in Missouri, but when you're on the team and I was there for five years and you kind of witness, whether it's the walk on kids who earn scholarships or just dudes that grew up there, you just. You learn how it's just such a different. They're a different breed. When it comes to thinking of Nebraska. It's like we were having. We were having an argument.
Tara Lawan
Actually plays so well into his argument, too.
Will Compton
About, like, I'm saying, my clean take for Kevin Satcher Food, shout out Kevin Satchel Foods. But my clean take was Nebraska. As far as a school, a fan base that supports their school. There's no better fan Base in the country because there's no. There's no fair weather kids. There's no kids that, like, oh, if you lose, it kind of doesn't ruin their week or whatever. Like, everybody in the state of Nebraska, it's all Nebraska because there's no other competing teams.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, and you just. You.
Will Compton
You, like, embody that because you're, like, thinking in your head. The peak for me in my life growing up in Nebraska is playing for the Cornhuskers. Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And if you think about, like, the stadium there, Memorial Stadium, it's the third largest town, city in. On game day. Like, that's it. You know, Lincoln, Omaha, and then Memorial Stadium on game day. So it's. It's crazy. I mean, you just grow up, like, just being a Husker, you know, Everybody's a Husker there, you know, and you just hate. You know, you hate Texas, you hate Oklahoma, Iowa now. Like, it's just kind of how you grow up.
Tara Lawan
I don't wanna. I don't want to get too in the weeds about Will Compton and your fandom of him. But. But as a young cat watching Willie C. Do you, like, remember moments of him, like, being like, oh, 5:1. Is he a reason why you wore 5:1?
Cam Jurgens
No.
Tara Lawan
Is he a reason? You're like, Hey, 50:1?
Will Compton
Because I'm thinking I played next to Levante.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, no doubt.
Will Compton
Sue played in front of me. Like, we did have some goons.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. But you guys, you're also part of, like, a Nebraska team that actually earned their black shirts. Like, oh, like, this is a squad that. That, yeah, was kind of nice. You guys were one game away from winning the Big 12 championship. You guys were in the Big Ten championship. Yes.
Will Compton
You wore 5:1 because, I mean, when
Cam Jurgens
they told me I was moving to O line, I was 44. I'm like, all right, what's the next closest number? Like, well, you can't have 50, but you could have 51. Like, all right, I'll take that. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, man. And when you were moving. So you talk about elongated steps and snaps. What was the heart like? The. If the. If a kid sitting in front of you right now is going through the same exact situation, what is, like, the hardest thing in your brain to figure out as a center? Is it the overall, like, seeing safeties, seeing linebackers, or is it truly footwork?
Cam Jurgens
I think early on, it's footwork. You know, if you don't play O line, you know, you. Those short steps, choppy. Like, I was just. I always wanted to run, you Know, tight end or whatever. I played linebacker in high school. And like, everything's just long and then O line, everything's just short, abbreviated. And you need to be, you know, proper footwork or technique. And then, you know that. That's like the biggest change, you know, trying to get yourself in the right spot. And I feel like I was just always out of balance, but, like, playing hard.
Tara Lawan
How'd that first gaming at South Alabama go?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, I think end of the third quarter, full body cramps. It was hot. It was hot. I was locking up.
Will Compton
Yeah, because now they finally got the squad on the side where it shaded
Cam Jurgens
and, dude, I wasn't practicing. You know, like, it's when you don't practice and you're not like conditioning your body because you have an injury, it's just like, you're gonna cramp bad.
Tara Lawan
I was a terrible cramper. He just barely won that game. Damn.
Will Compton
You know, he was part of some just rugged years, man. Like you were with Frost, where it's like when Frost came in, it was like Mike Riley, he. He kind of took the program down south. But then Scott Frost comes in and it's like, oh, this is, this is the, The. The next coming right here. This is Nebraska going back for you and your brain. Looking back, do you. Did you think about that when Scott came to the squad and you're like, all right, we're going to get this thing turned around. You had. You were on teams that were solid teams. And what are the things you think about when looking at your era, playing Nebraska, playing with Nebraska, not like making bowl games and just being in those, Those drought years?
Cam Jurgens
I mean. Yeah, I still love my experience, you know, playing for Nebraska, being a corner, sure, that was great. But, yeah, like, coming in, I thought. I thought Frost was about to be
Will Compton
the Messiah, you know, everybody did.
Cam Jurgens
Everybody did. And then it just didn't pan out. You know, nothing. Nothing worked. You know, we. We lost close games and we found ways to lose more close games, and it was just like a constant deal of doing that. And yeah, never made a bowl game that was tough. And then go to the league and super bowl first year and win it third.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, it's just crazy.
Will Compton
Yeah. Finding all those that. We were kind of joking about it before we started the pod, but when I had to just spins on myself and we are the greatest three win team of all time. Like, that year, it felt like every game you guys fucking lost was within reach. It was all single digits. Where there's fucking. We hit the onside Kick over in international soil in Ireland.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Against Northwestern Ohio State. You got them. Just couldn't do it it dude.
Tara Lawan
And it's like one of those game or that that season is a season that's bled into what it's been six years since then, five years since then. And even this year we're flying back from the Red river rivalry and we're watching Nebraska versus Maryland and Nebraska actually came back on a two minute drill and won the game because you're was Emma Johnson.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
He had a big run and Will's like losing his mind on the plane. We're like losing service as we're like about to land. So he watches the last couple of, couple a couple of snaps and he's like losing my dude. Hey, you guys just beat Maryland. Like what? He's like, you don't understand. Like for so long we've been a team that figures out. Figures out ways to these games up and this is like the hurdle, the next possible hurdle for Nebraska.
Will Compton
Yeah. Do you.
Tara Lawan
Are you. So we talked about a little bit. He clearly like the most like He's a top 5% fan. Like he's the guy who's got the corn in the face. How in the weeds are you in it now being in the league? Like do you watch every game still? Do you try to catch every game? Do you keep up with the roster?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, I try to watch everything. I mean it's hard to keep up with everyone just because I mean it's a revolving door. I mean I come back like my first year and knew most of the people come back second year. It's like, dude, I know no one here.
Tara Lawan
That's just crazy because that'd be so nuts.
Will Compton
I feel like it's, it's obviously the world now with Nil. But even like when I got done, you had your four years that I would come back and kind of know some guys because the whole team's kind of staying together. You know the freshman that's now a senior and kind of keep tabs on guys. Oh yeah. I remember him being in the locker room and he blows up to be a stud, whatever the case may be. But now with Nil just hearing the two year turnaround, like I'm sure it's way different every time you go back. Yeah. Now it's. Do you, do you. Is there any. Are there guys that are still on the team?
Cam Jurgens
I'm sure some Nebraska boys that I played with.
Will Compton
Yeah. That you played with.
Cam Jurgens
Maybe like one that's like a Assistant O Line GM. Yeah.
Will Compton
What was your last year?
Tara Lawan
Year? 22.
Cam Jurgens
22.
Will Compton
Okay. Yeah. So you're pretty much on, man. I can't believe it. Just time flies.
Tara Lawan
Time really does fly. And it sucks, too, because I remember, like, the first couple years going back to Ann Arbor and being able to see, like, my boys, and they'd be like, you know, another year in the program, we get to check in with them. But with the nil, the way there's so much turnover, it had to kind of suck being, like, the year two. Like, oh, I know. Nobody here. It's all a bunch of different guys.
Will Compton
And now he goes back into completely different facilities.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, the facility is nice, bro.
Will Compton
Insane. Insane.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. Yeah, it's great. Yeah. It's probably number one right now.
Will Compton
Oh, it's like. It's up there. But how much did they pay for that new facility?
Cam Jurgens
It had been, like, 250 million.
Will Compton
It's just. It's incredible. You walk back because you see all the old locker rooms and everything else, and you're just like, man, if you guys only. If you guys only knew these locker rooms. But guys just don't even know that.
Cam Jurgens
That anymore.
Will Compton
You know what I mean?
Tara Lawan
Yeah. Yeah.
Will Compton
Time's over.
Cam Jurgens
But now it's like, you don't even need to have nice facilities. You know, it's like the NFL game, you know, you don't need that because you're just paying the players.
Will Compton
Right. Because they started to build that and buy into it right before NIL started. So we're kind of like one of the last ones that just poured everything into facilities instead of nil money.
Tara Lawan
Well, organ's the middle of doing a $500 million renovation right now.
Will Compton
Yeah. Because they've. They under. You know, some people are like, okay, this game's going to be pouring money in the nil. We were already developing and starting the structure of the new building, so all the money had to go into building the new facilities, which kind of hurt
Tara Lawan
NIL a little bit.
Will Compton
Yeah. Hurt us on that front end.
Tara Lawan
How much of a shock for you? Because I don't know the Eagles, how their facilities really are. I thought your practice fields were nice, but when I went from Michigan, who, like, had great facilities at the time, to the Tennessee Titans, it was like, I walk in, I'm like, this feels like juco as far as, like, facilities go. Did you have the same shock value when you were sure?
Cam Jurgens
I'm like, whoa, this is. This is the only cold tub we have. Crazy. And they're like, how big is your. We have one that we Bring in the summer. And we just, you know, it's just outside, I'm like, okay.
Tara Lawan
Just tubs, just like plastic, like, tractor supply tubs everywhere. It's nuts, dude, to see the difference in, like, NFL versus college and like, how, like, the courting process goes or anything. Like, once they pick you, like, you're here, like, you can't go anywhere.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
So the facilities just aren't what they were.
Will Compton
How sick was it getting drafted in the third round? Just seeing your name get called, go across the bottom of the ticker as a Nebraska boy growing up. Just want to play for Nebraska. Third round, wasn't it?
Tara Lawan
Third round.
Will Compton
Oh, second round.
Tara Lawan
That's.
Will Compton
That's day two, guy. No disrespect, day early day early, day two, but what was that like?
Cam Jurgens
It was. It was just, you know, crazy. You know, I never. Growing up, I never thought I was going to go to the NFL and, like, being in the position and just, you know, just seeing how much I've been able to do, you know, not just for me, but, like, like my family, you know, like, all the experiences, you know, my parents get to fly to all these games and see all these stadiums and everything that, you know, they get to experience because of me. Like, it's. It's been a crazy, wild ride, you know, getting to play a sport for a job, it's just, you know, it's a dream come true.
Tara Lawan
When did you find out that Jason Kelsey was a person that was like, this is the guy that needs to replace me when I retire?
Cam Jurgens
I mean, I did. I did a top 30 visit there and I, you know, I met with him in the Olympics. Coach and like, everybody in the building. But yeah, I met him pretty early on and just, you know, I had a great bond with him. I mean, he's just. He's a man there and just getting to learn from him and experience, like, how everything operates and, you know, he's been there forever and so getting to take over that role and then like, in the first year, getting to take over the center role, we win a Super bowl and we rushed for 2,000 yards and, like, have an unreal season. Like, it's just. Yeah, it's crazy. And then, like, like the year before, like, speaking of, like, changing positions, like, I. They put me at guard. I was playing right guard for a year the year before I got to center. And so just constantly just trying new things and just whatever for the team. And, you know, so it's just been. It's been an awesome ride with the Eagles.
Tara Lawan
So far.
Cam Jurgens
And you know, I, I love it there. It's like they say about, like, every organization is different, but the Eagles really run their organization right? You know, good ownership, everything from the top down, it's just, just, it's done right. And, you know, that's all I know so far. So then when guys come from other teams and then come in, they're like, man, it's different, you know, and so it's cool hearing that.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, everything's done right. Except for offensive play calling
Will Compton
at the starting center.
Tara Lawan
He didn't call the place. He called the place. No, that was up.
Will Compton
I'm sorry.
Tara Lawan
That was.
Will Compton
How was the experience with the fan base?
Cam Jurgens
Dude? They.
Will Compton
You go from one passion fan.
Tara Lawan
Bas at this moment is murdering me.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, Nebraska is like die hard. But like, man, if you lose a game, like, their, their week is done. Like, they're just angry to everybody, their family, their friends, like, they're just pissed. You know, it's just how it is. But like, they're die Hards, man. I mean, it's, it's cool. Anywhere you go, you're going to. You're just gonna see a fan. Like everywhere around there, it's just Eagles. And it's just, it's weird because not that many, like, professional, like, sports towns are so like, it feels like a small town vibe where like, you know your high school teams going to the state playoffs and the whole team or the whole town like shuts down and goes there. It's like, that's that. But it's like Philly with millions of people. You know, it's like the Flyers, the Sixers, you know, all the sports teams there, there, they love every single one. And it's just, it's nuts. You know, the, the buy in and you know, my first year there, I remember I went to. I went to a World Series game when, when they made it. And I'm at the game, I'm sitting next to some people and like, I'm talking to them and you know, they're from Philly, they're huge fans. And like, yeah, we had to take on another mortgage of the house just to buy these tickets. And you know, like, never miss a Super Bowl. I'm like, that's how they are. You know, they will go bankrupt just to get to a game.
Will Compton
You know, that is nuts.
Tara Lawan
That is wild grease in the polls. Like the craziest fan base.
Will Compton
Yeah, like, they love you so passionately and they'll also come for the jugular when things aren't going right.
Tara Lawan
How Hard is it not to listen to that noise? Because there. I mean, there's clips all the times of you guys run into halftime, and it's not going the way the fans want, so they're booing the team as you come in. You, like, just attribute that to be like, yeah, they're insane. And they. They love their fan base that much. But, like, if you go from being from Nebraska, don't know what town you grew up in, but you go to Lincoln, that's probably a little bit of a culture shock to you, all those people. And then you're going to a major city that is obsessed with the fan base. Like, how hard was that for you from a mental standpoint to ignore all that noise?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, Very tough. I mean, it's just. It's hard not to hear it, especially when it's all over social media and in your face and during the game when we're, like, winning and we're still getting booed.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, and they will boo the shit out of you, but they will not let another team boo you. You know, they will fight that person, but, like, 10 minutes later, they'll boo their own team.
Will Compton
You know, like, say, hey, I can call my brother gay, but if you call him gay, I'm gonna. Yeah, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Like, I'll kill you. So that's just how it rolls. But, like, I didn't. I didn't realize going to, like, a big city, it was just going to be that, like, die hard fan base, which is cool. You know, if you go playing California, like, nobody cares about sports.
Tara Lawan
No, no, no, no. The farther west you go, the less.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
The less they care about the sports teams. I grew up in Arizona. It's like, no one cared about the Cardinals until, like, 2008, when we went to the super bowl. And all of a sudden, everybody's got a Cardinals T shirt. I'm thinking, y' all don't give a about this.
Will Compton
I've never heard at all. Our team's called the Cardinals.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, exactly. I know Larry Fitzgerald is. And that's literally it. Literally it. That fan base is nuts, dude. What is.
Will Compton
Who.
Tara Lawan
Who's your online coach again? Isn't the only.
Cam Jurgens
He just stepped down Coach Cooper, but it was Jeff Stout, dude. You know, that's all. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
And he is one of the best coaches of all time. What was legend? What was relationship like? What's he like in a meeting room?
Cam Jurgens
Man, he is intense. Is he just, you know, he's. He's football, football, football. You know, you're. You're Going to talk ball and he's going to, you know, he's going to harp on you. You know, there's a certain way to do things and you're going to. He's going to keep coaching you and keep coaching you until you do it right. And it just, everybody gets better. And you know, and the cool thing about him, like he's, he's going to coach like the last player, like scout team guy guy, just as hard as you're gonna coach starters. And he's just intense with everybody and it just makes for environment for the O line, just like all group together and you know, work on, you know, our skills and get, get better together, you know, because it's rough in there some days. You know, you're watching film and you know, you, you'll have some rough days and you know, it's all about accountability.
Tara Lawan
What's with like walking into that room. Yeah. Jason Kelsey, My A. Yeah. Lane Johnson. Like there's a. You have. I mean the whole entire roster is just complete star power. But was there somebody specifically that you were kind of starstruck about? Like had a hard time coming around calling him Mr. Mr. Johnson.
Cam Jurgens
I mean Mr. Kelsey starstruck. But like, dude, I just followed Lane around. I'm like, hey, I'm gonna see what Lane's doing and just try to do what he does.
Tara Lawan
Puts your the on your toes, walk around.
Cam Jurgens
Dude, he does every, everything. I mean he's got so many modalities and tools and like the way he takes care of his body, it's incredible. You know, I'm just trying to like emulate and do a little bit of that and just trying to get better because he's constantly getting better. But like he, he also can't sit down and watch a movie. Like he's just gonna be stretching just non stop, just doing stuff, getting better.
Tara Lawan
Dude, his athleticism is so crazy. He ran a 4 7.
Will Compton
Yeah. He was a tight end, wasn't he?
Tara Lawan
Yeah, yeah, tight end. Went to Oklahoma.
Will Compton
What was. What was Jason before he moved O line? Was he? Oh, he was a D line linebacker.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, linebacker. And Lane was a quarterback at juco.
Will Compton
Yeah, that's right. Yeah, that's right. Because then when he went to Oklahoma, he was a tight end at first and then that's when he moved to tackle. Yeah. Nothing but athletes across the filial line.
Tara Lawan
Dude, my. A lot is so big too.
Cam Jurgens
Massive.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Is your guys's new position coach? Was he in the room? Was he part of the same?
Cam Jurgens
Was he part of the same No, I haven't. I haven't met him yet.
Will Compton
Oh, you have.
Tara Lawan
Where'd he come from?
Cam Jurgens
He was Vikings last year.
Tara Lawan
Vikings. Okay, good.
Will Compton
Coach. I love OConnell.
Tara Lawan
O' Connell rips.
Will Compton
Dude, Wes Phillips.
Tara Lawan
Why'd you cut your hair? Why'd you do that? Look at that.
Cam Jurgens
I can get back.
Tara Lawan
Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. You had a great head of hair, but what. Was there a reason behind that?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, I've never had long hair. I didn't even know my hair was curly until I grew it out.
Tara Lawan
Out.
Cam Jurgens
I don't know. I just didn't want to have it forever. We'll come back eventually.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
How was the. How was the year this year? You guys had a lot of. There's a lot of headlines. A lot of seemed like turmoil coming off of last year. What you guys do the year before
Tara Lawan
they won the Super Bowl.
Will Compton
Won the Super Bowl. That's right.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
But having a down year. Like, you guys had, like, what was it like inside the building again? Like, going off of all the noise that kind of. Kind of seeps in, all the things that kind of get out. People write stories about everything.
Tara Lawan
Noise from us, too. There's fans. We ask. People give you questions, and they're like, yeah. And they're like, why are you coming on the show? Because we hated on the Eagles so much this past year. But you're.
Cam Jurgens
Bro, you guys hate us.
Tara Lawan
No, no, no. We don't hate you at all.
Cam Jurgens
No hate. Okay.
Tara Lawan
We don't hate you guys at all.
Cam Jurgens
People do hate us, dude. Here's pretty common.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. What I don't understand is how you have that many athletes. How many people like. Like, the common fan will look at the Eagles roster and be like, I know most of these guys. So you just know. You guys are just riddled with star power. And I watch the games and it's like, what are we doing? Some of these things are just like, I don't understand the blocking concepts. I don't understand how we're not getting Saquon Barkley going like, okay, the perimeter play works and you guys get six yards, but then you go between the tackles and you're averaging, like, 2 yards there, so why not just keep going the perimeter? AJ's running basic route concepts, steps. It's just. That's the confusing part to me. When you're like, you've been in the game long. Like, you. You can kind of watch a game unfold and be like, all right, they're doing. This is their game plan when it's not working, why doesn't it change? That's the frustrating part, because you watch Eagles and Clump. He's a sicko Eagles fan. And you kind of sit there and you're like, bro, what are y' all doing? Because you guys could have won it this year. It just felt like it just never got going on offense.
Cam Jurgens
No, I just feel like we never did, you know? And that was the frustrating part. You know, you feel like you're doing so much and, like, the expectations are so high. You know, you're in the building and, like, just, you know, kind of feels brutal, a little miserable at times, and, you know, guys are going through and the expectations are ridiculous, and all the outside noise, you feel everything and the pressure and, you know, when you never get rolling and you're just expecting something to happen and you're doing everything you think is right and just never happens. It's just. It is frustrating. It was. It was a brutal year.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, it's hard. It's hard to see.
Will Compton
What was it like with AJ?
Cam Jurgens
AJ's the man, dude.
Will Compton
AJ is the man.
Cam Jurgens
Everybody loves AJ.
Will Compton
Is he getting traded?
Cam Jurgens
I don't know, dude.
Will Compton
I'm not the GM here.
Cam Jurgens
I hope not. I hope not, because, I mean, AJ is such a beast, dude.
Will Compton
Transformer out there. Yeah. Built like a action figure.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, we have some just insane talent on our team. Like.
Tara Lawan
Like.
Cam Jurgens
Like, I came in, I'm like, man, Lane Johnson is the best football player I've ever seen. And then, like, the next practice, I'd see AJ do so. I'm like, man, AJ might be the best football player I've ever seen. And then Saquon jumps over a dude. I'm like, man, Saquon's up there, too.
Tara Lawan
You know, your whole team's like a team of all stars.
Cam Jurgens
It's crazy. Jaylen Carter is just a freak, dude.
Tara Lawan
He's so good.
Will Compton
Damn. What was your reaction when he got kicked out of the first game? When him and Dak, they didn't catch dad Deck, they caught Jalen, but I'm Jackson.
Tara Lawan
Deck was sneaky with it. He was sneaky about it.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
I don't know, man. I'm just like, we haven't even got to play in yet. Like, we haven't got to play.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that's it.
Cam Jurgens
That was the first game, right?
Tara Lawan
First game. First game, Thursday Night Football.
Cam Jurgens
And, yeah, our fullback, Ben Vin Sumerin tore his knee on the first kickoff.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And then Jalen Carter gets tossed out. I'm like, God, five rough two plays there.
Will Compton
Jaylen seems like he Cat, you don't want to piss off a practice.
Cam Jurgens
No, I mean, he's just. He can do anything to you, you know, he's just a beast.
Will Compton
The.
Tara Lawan
I. I have empathy for you. Because there's a lot of questions that he's just going to sit there and you're thinking to yourself, like, what's Syrian going to put on the big screen in the team room after this comes out?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
So I'm sorry, but. Hey, Siriana, we gotta get it fixed. Fixed. We gotta get. Talk to me about Big Dom. Is he not. He seems like an absolute pillar, foundational guy in the Eagles organization. Is he what I perceive him to be?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, and. And whatever. More like, yeah, he's the man. I mean, that. That place falls apart if we don't have him.
Tara Lawan
No doubt.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, the. The things he does for everyone, you know, it's just. It's hard to put that into words or whatever. Like, he. He keeps that team afloat, you know, he does, you know, anything and everything for everybody in that building. And, you know, it's just simple things. Like, I'll just be like, hey, Dom, I need to get a driver's license. Can you, like, help me out? He's like, yeah, yeah, come in tomorrow. I'll drive you there. And then drives me to like, some place I can get a driver's license. And we're like in and out in there in like five minutes. I'm like, why is that the easiest thing I've ever done? I just got a real driver's license. That was. Took five minutes. Like, bro, who do you. It just. He has a guy, he knows everything. Everybody.
Tara Lawan
He knows everybody.
Will Compton
He does. He always has. It seems like he's. He's the most connected cat in the league.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. He's got. He's got ties for sure. He has to, right?
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tara Lawan
But like the appropriate amount of ties.
Will Compton
Yeah. To where there's some mystery to him, right? Like, yeah, that's all there. But you don't. You don't ask questions if there's like
Tara Lawan
something big that goes down in Philly and becomes like news. Dom knew about it three days before. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's it. He didn't. He's got his fingerprints on honesty it. But he knows about everything that takes place in that town.
Will Compton
And he just seems like a guy too. It's like from the movie the Town where he's like, whose car are we taking?
Tara Lawan
Yeah, exactly.
Will Compton
Let's go handle.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, is Sirianni. What's his. What's his presence, like, before game team meetings. Does he have, like that good leadership coach type of mentality?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, he just brings so much energy, and he's very consistent with his message. You know, it's. You're going to get the same guy every time, and he's just consistent with the team and. And I mean, that's kind of what you need out of the head guy. You know, you want to have the same message and, you know, the same thing going into the game. But then, like, when game hits, I mean, intense. Look at that intense dude.
Tara Lawan
The super bowl, when he had.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
He was hand over his heart during the national anthem. And it's not like a too dramatic of a cry, but there's just tears going down his cheeks. Juiced me up just seeing them. Like, this guy. Guy loves America and ball. He's just all about it right now.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
What else you got?
Will Compton
Will singing. How do we ask him about. Are there internal issues going on with Philly?
Cam Jurgens
There's always, hey, how about March Madness?
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Kidding me, dude. I was hoping just like, I. I mean, growing up in Nebraska, I was a huge Husker fan. Like, I was a big baller growing up and, like, go to all the Hustler games. We've been terrible forever, and now it's just like, we're going to win it this year.
Will Compton
Yeah. A few good years in a row, like Tomonaga a few a couple years ago, just knocking down threes now. You got the prices right. Draining 3. Set a record this year. The fact that they've gotten to the Sweet 16 is the first time in the program's history, like when we won against Troy, and that being the first win, we were the last Power 4 team to get a win in March Madness. Like, that is. That's insane.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, hey, you guys, we never lost in the sweet 16, so I'm feeling good about this game going in.
Will Compton
And we got the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
The idiots out wandering around.
Tara Lawan
I owe the world an apology.
Will Compton
Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be. You couldn't paint this picture any better. Nebraska versus Iowa basketball. Like, it feels like, you know, you got. You think of, like, with Iowa, Nebraska
Tara Lawan
pull the brackets up.
Will Compton
Wrestling, the physical sports. You're not assuming that we're going to be meeting in the sweet sixteen one day, man.
Cam Jurgens
Our squad, I mean, everybody just knows their role and they stick to it. You know, nobody's doing too much.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And everybody plays hard. Sam Hoiberg, like, dude, I remember watching, like, seeing him in high school, not thinking he was gonna be on Nebraska's team and like, dude, just how much growth he's had in the rest of the team, like, it's just cool to see. Really cool to see. And now we get to play Iowa. I mean, dream come true. Iowa beat them to go to Elite 8. Like, I was hoping they were going to win. And we played them a couple times this year. We lost one on purpose because it's impossible to beat a team three times. Obviously, we're ready for this.
Tara Lawan
That's a heady play. That's how you.
Will Compton
That.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. That's just understanding a 30, 000 foot view. Could you imagine a Nebraska versus Michigan national championship? Could you imagine that taking.
Cam Jurgens
Especially with our full squad.
Will Compton
Yeah. Didn't have Frager the first time. Last time.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Oh, you get. Okay.
Will Compton
Frager's nice.
Tara Lawan
I don't know who that is.
Will Compton
First guy off the bench.
Cam Jurgens
Six man of the year.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Sixth man of the year.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Go ahead, Sher.
Cam Jurgens
Hey, Cam Jurgens. Sherman Young. With busting with the boys, I wanted to toss it up to you on your thoughts on the Hawkeyes. I know that there's a lot of hate for the hot guys on this bus. What's been your personal experience with them? I mean. Yeah. I mean, since we got to the Big Ten, I guess that's our new rival. But I kind of grew up in the hate Oklahoma and Texas. Yeah. They just think we got. They got better corn than we do, which is kind of up. I mean, just keep it simple.
Will Compton
I know. And it's. It sucks when he's like. I guess like, that's a rival. It just does.
Tara Lawan
That's how you know it's not a real. Like, that's not. Not.
Will Compton
I know we gotta win in football.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
But I'm just talking about in general,
Cam Jurgens
like, I didn't beat him. So it's like.
Tara Lawan
It's hard, your rivals, to be like, we hate. Like you want. Universally, these are the teams we hate no matter what. No matter what. Michigan State, Ohio State. Like, I hate them. I respect Ohio State, though.
Will Compton
It hasn't made it to the grass yet because, again, it's been a lopsided last decade. It's more of a very real thing inside of households. But now that we're getting in basketball, they've all, like, our wrestling programs have always been. Have always been solid. I was always been elite, an elite wrestling program. We're better now, but it just. It hasn't made its way onto the grass yet. It's got to make its way onto the grass.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. I just want. I want you guys to feel what that rivalry is like. I want you guys to feel hatred in your blood when it comes to Iowa. Nebraska, like, you could tell, but you're. Everyone's kind of bouncing around, getting bounce around the bush a little bit. But I want to see Nebraska fans and Iowa fans truly hate each other. You guys deserve it.
Will Compton
It's kind of hard to. Both states got some just quality people, good people, and they don't.
Cam Jurgens
They don't have that much hate in their heart.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, get some.
Will Compton
Like, also, what people say about Nebraska's fan base, it's the nicest fan base that is just a lot of quality. Like, the rivalry feel is there, but it's not like the hatred, turmoil. Like, we need these people to die.
Tara Lawan
There's been a. There's been a change since Matt Rules got there. What do you say? Nebraska. Nice. Every day. Except for Saturday in the Brat. Like, I remember for the bus and bowl, when we went up there was September 20th. We went there. The fan base or the student section, I walked by it without you, and one guy called my name. And in unison, they just started saying, you and yelling at me.
Will Compton
Right.
Tara Lawan
And I'm smiling myself. Like, look at them.
Will Compton
They're really.
Tara Lawan
They're really growing. They're really starting to understand, like, there's an expectation again.
Cam Jurgens
Well, Rule has a lot of Philly guys on staff, so, you know, some of that.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, some of that.
Cam Jurgens
In your face, getting through the team. You know, it's gonna start getting through.
Will Compton
What's your expectation with them this year?
Cam Jurgens
I mean, kind of just focus on March Madness right now.
Will Compton
One game at a time.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, one game.
Will Compton
I won Thursday.
Cam Jurgens
I can't wait till Thursday.
Tara Lawan
Is this next year? Wait, that's next year. Pull the. Yeah, keep. Keep scrolling. Because I know that we got a tough schedule. It's kind of a gauntlet.
Will Compton
You guys got Bush. The over under right now is five and a half wins on the season.
Cam Jurgens
Five and a half.
Will Compton
Five and a half, man.
Cam Jurgens
All right.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
I mean, but you see, we got. We got Indiana, Oregon, Ohio State, Iowa.
Tara Lawan
I think Michigan State's going to be sneaky next year. And I. I hate saying that.
Cam Jurgens
How about Indiana? Like, in college, I'm like, man, we weren't like world beaters, but when we went to Indiana, you know, a lot of times we felt like it.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And now it's just like they're killing everybody. That's the most insane turnaround.
Tara Lawan
Insane. Turn around. It almost feels like it's not possible.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Almost feels like something happened, you know? But they did. They. They want it. They want it all. Yeah.
Will Compton
Like something could have happened that we'll never learn about.
Tara Lawan
Right. It almost feels like there's, like, an investor or, like, an alumni guy that, like, hacked into a system.
Will Compton
Yeah. Who knows, man?
Tara Lawan
Right.
Cam Jurgens
But their roster was so old, so I think I saw some.
Will Compton
Were a lot of vets on the squad. Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
The average age of the roster was, like, more than the Packer Packers.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Yeah. And, like, from what I've heard. Or in red, like, he does. They don't practice longer than, like, an hour and 30 minutes, but it's super intentional.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. Yeah. Because they're so old, you got to keep them off the. Off the turf for a little bit. It is interesting. The Signetti, I would love to have him on this podcast, man. Because the way they operate, it's like, dude. And the fundamentals they play with, too. Like, you just respect that ball. Like, there was nothing flashy about what they did. Like. Like, clearly, Mendoza, he'll be the first overall pick, and he's incredible, but, like, their game was RPO slants and verts with back shoulder throws. Like, and that's kind of it. I mean, they would have screens, they would have different route concepts, but that was, like, the base of all their offense. And then you watch on the defensive side of the ball, like, everybody had. Yeah, everybody had. Was gap sound in the right gaps, handled themselves. Corners were jumping, you know, hitch routes on the first play of the game in the semifinals. It's just. It's impressive. It is. Yeah. It's truly impressive to watch them do their thing. And I love coaches that, like, coaches personalities, whatever, that just call their shot, and they fucking do it. Like, his first press conference is like, google me, I win. And everyone's like, okay, kind of corny. But now it's like, part of every single highlight because it's. Yeah. 10 the first year, now you're the next. He's lost two games in two years. Years. Just crazy.
Will Compton
I wonder what they'll do this year.
Tara Lawan
They got. What, Josh Hooker this year. Is that his name? Josh Huber. Tcu. Hoover. Josh Hoover. And where they run the most of TCU, they run the. The second most RPOs last year. Who ran the most? Indiana. So his kids already coming into a system that he knows, so they could just do it again.
Cam Jurgens
Big Ten's tough, though. It's hard to get out.
Tara Lawan
Out. BTN's the best football conference for sure.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Might be the.
Cam Jurgens
I think definitely Basketball, right now might
Tara Lawan
be the best sports conference. I mean.
Will Compton
Oh, yeah, I. I legitimately like football.
Tara Lawan
Yep.
Will Compton
Basketball. We got six in the sweets.
Tara Lawan
We got six, six in the sweet 16.
Cam Jurgens
Wrestling.
Will Compton
Wrestling is not even close.
Tara Lawan
Hockey. Hockey, not even close.
Will Compton
We don't have a hockey team, do we?
Tara Lawan
No. Which is crazy.
Cam Jurgens
We got semi pro.
Will Compton
Yeah, that's.
Cam Jurgens
You ever go to the Star wars game?
Will Compton
Games? I went to one, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
A lot of fun.
Tara Lawan
Hockey is so much fun to watch, dude. Yeah, I. It is. It's my favorite sport to watch live. I think it's a blast.
Will Compton
We got bowling.
Cam Jurgens
I don't know. UFC live.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, no, yeah, you're right. You're right about that.
Cam Jurgens
We ever gotten, like, a bare knuckle fight?
Tara Lawan
I never got to that. No.
Will Compton
Like an underground. You go with.
Cam Jurgens
That's so fun. I mean, you.
Will Compton
That's what you do with Dom. He's got the under.
Cam Jurgens
You get a little too close to the ring, like, you might get hit with some blood.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, like that.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
Dude, where'd you go to a bare knuckle fight at?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, they had one. They had one in Philly. They had one in Nebraska when I was back. Like, that is probably the most fun I've had. Like, being close to a ring and you hear somebody's jaw get broken, it's just the most intense thing of all time. And you just leave there and you just juice for, like, hours.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, it does have that kind of effect on you. I've never been to bare knuckle, but ufc. I've been to over a dozen now, and every single time, it's, like, electric.
Cam Jurgens
It's just tough going to UFC in person because you're waiting so long in between fights.
Tara Lawan
True.
Cam Jurgens
And then, everybody. The best part about going to a UFC fight isn't watching the fights there, it's watching the fights, like, in the stands, because everybody's just hammered, you know, five hours and then there'll be, like, 10 fights everywhere, and you're just looking around like, where's the next one happening?
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
We interrupt this episode to shout out our sponsor, Jim Beam. Listen, boys, as you all know, we have now entered what could be the worst time of the year.
Tara Lawan
Year.
Will Compton
That's right. Football is over. What are we supposed to do on Sunday or Monday or Thursday? So much time. So little. Football.
Tara Lawan
Whoa, whoa, whoa, easy now. Just because football is over, the hang doesn't have to stop, because, believe it or not, there's still a ton of stuff to be excited for. Talking basketball, hockey, tennis, baseball, and soccer right here. In the good old US Of A. All to be enjoyed with a crisp, delicious, and oh, so refreshing Jim Beam and lemonade.
Will Compton
It's like taking the limb in a football, huh? Being over.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
And turning it into lemonade.
Tara Lawan
Correction. I'm taking the lemon of football being over and turning it into Jim Beam and lemonade. Because Beam and lemonade is always the right call. It's light flavor, it's refreshing, and so, so delicious. No matter what you and your boys are doing, brother, you're so right.
Will Compton
Because at the end of the day, no matter what sport you're pivoting to this offseason, it'll be best enjoyed together.
Tara Lawan
Drink smart, Jim Beam. Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. 40 alcohol per volume. 2026. James B. Beam Distilling Company, Claremont, Kentucky. Let's get back to this episode. What's your take on the White House fight? You fired up about that?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, that would be sick. I don't know why we haven't been doing that.
Tara Lawan
Rogan. I think I saw a clip of Rogan kind of trashing a little bit. He had some good points. Like, it's outside during summer. What if it rains? What if it. Like, there's so many, like, variables. Like, even if it's, like, hot.
Cam Jurgens
You think they were thinking about that in the Roman Coliseum back in the day? Like, oh, if it rains, we better cancel it and then get all the horses and buggies. Another day. Like, what do we.
Will Compton
Amen, dude.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that's a. That's a clean take. That's a clean take. God, he kind of came out of nowhere with that, too. Like, he. He saw the clip and he's. Dude, what else we got? Dude? What's your thought on the war?
Will Compton
How about Iran?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, bring it back. I'm so excited for Thursday.
Tara Lawan
Nice.
Will Compton
Yeah, just the Huskers playing Island.
Tara Lawan
Oh, dude, how's your back, dude, it's
Cam Jurgens
getting better every day. I mean, it's tough. That super bowl we won. I mean, I herniated. I had a herniated disc, and then right before the play playoffs, my disc, like, broke off and got wrapped around my sciatic nerve. So it was just like, oh, my. Suffocating my leg. It was hard to walk. I don't know how I was playing. Like, it was. It was easily the worst month of my life, but then also, like, kind of the best month of my life because we won the Super Bowl. But it was just miserable, dude. Just the pain and then getting surgery and, like, trying to get back for the next year, and, you know, it's Always tough having a surgery in the off season, but when you have back surgery, it is tough. Like, it takes a good year to come back from that. And, like, I'm starting to feel really good. But, dude, just all year, just trying to get through that. Just a tough year with the back, but it's feeling so much better.
Tara Lawan
When you go through injuries like that, do you, like, is there, like, a reevaluation process that takes place? Because I'm sure, like, when you made it to the league second round, you're like, I want to play X amount of years. Or you have, like, these new goals that you've set your set for yourself since you've beaten this Nebraska goal. When you have injuries like that, do you rework it? Rethink it? You start to think to yourself, hey, the older I get, the more ailments I'm going to have. Does that ever cross your mind?
Cam Jurgens
A little bit. And, you know, you. When you get injured, you just go through the rehab and recovery process and, like, you gotta. You gotta fall in love with that, you know, going into the training room when you can't do anything, just like, all right, let's. Let's attack the day. Let's try to. Whatever we're doing today, let's do everything we can and, you know, get a little bit better. And the rehab process is brutal, you know, and you guys know you've had so many injuries when you're going through and you thinking, you know, you're. You're in pain, you can't walk or whatever.
Will Compton
Will I even get back to.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, but you're gonna get back. You gotta love the. The process of it. And I've had so many injuries, you know, it just comes with it, I think throughout high school and college. I broke a bone in October, like, every year for, like. Like, six straight years.
Tara Lawan
Jesus. Spooktober.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, spooktober. Spooky.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, spooky. Bone breaks every year.
Cam Jurgens
Crazy.
Tara Lawan
Is it always your lower limbs? Like, how many. How many. How many bones have you, like, how many surgeries have you had? Let's start there.
Cam Jurgens
I think, like six or seven.
Tara Lawan
Okay.
Cam Jurgens
Which isn't terrible right now. Nothing major.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Back, maybe. Major leg, but like, otherwise just small things.
Tara Lawan
What's that back rehab look like? I've never, like, Dennis Kelly, pretty much
Cam Jurgens
just getting your core back, you know, strengthening the core, getting your hips mobile, and, like, everything that goes along with that. But, like, nerves take forever to heal, you know, and it just takes a while, and, you know, you don't have time in football, you know, and you're just going out there and playing, it doesn't matter what percent you're at when you're on the field. Like, whatever you are at is your 100 at that point.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Like the film is the film.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
How the did you get back for the Super Bowl?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, it was impossible. It was. I remember, like, the NFC Championship game, like, trying to get ready for that game. And every. Every day, it was. It was brutal. I mean, going out for warm ups before the game, like, I was just trying to run around and block. I'm like, yo, I can't feel my leg right now. Kept falling. And I'm like, all right. Like, I. I'll be suited up and ready, but I don't know. I don't know, guys. And I'll be ready on the sideline if you need me.
Tara Lawan
Right.
Cam Jurgens
But. So I didn't start that game. And then we had another guy landing and go down in that game. I'm like, all right, I'll play the second half. It was just like a tag team effort. Just, you know, all right, I'm pretty bad, but I don't think I'm that bad right now. Like, I can play the second half.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And just going out there and then get a. Get an epidural shot going into the super bowl.
Tara Lawan
And.
Cam Jurgens
And hopefully it's just like a band aid, you know, you're just trying to, like, get through.
Tara Lawan
What is the epidural like, from a strength standpoint? I got one in my neck, like, I think year two or year three, because I kept getting stingers. But there was a moment, like, I think it was like, week seven, I couldn't take a 25 pound plate and lift it over my head. And they're like, you go. You'd be all right. You're go do your thing. Like, did you, like, lose strength? Because essentially an epidural shuts down the nerve, correct?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, it. It just helps calm down the nerve and then inflammation in that area. Yeah, but, yeah, like, when you can't feel your leg, you don't have strength in your leg.
Tara Lawan
Right. You know, this is crazy.
Cam Jurgens
Oh, like, my calf. Like, that nerve goes all the way down your leg. And I remember, like, my calf felt like I. I tore my calf. Like, and it's fine. It's just a nerve. I didn't tear anything. But, dude, every day it'd be something new, and you're just like, trying to get out of bed and block the facility. I'm just like, sitting on these, like, physio balls because I can't sit on a chair hair. It's just, like, miserable. But then you get through it, and, you know, you. You have a good perspective. You know, when you get injured, you're like, man, when I get healthy, like, I'm gonna remember, like, how it feels and everything like that.
Tara Lawan
It's. Yeah, the. The injury thing. Like, even when you, like, hurt your finger and it's like, something so small, but you're like, man, once this finger's healed, I'm gonna never take my fingers for granted. Like, you have, like, this do thought of, like, it's like, when you get sick and you're like, I'm never not washing my hands again. And then, like, you're three months removed. You're like, I don't wash my hands this time.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
So, yeah, it's like a. Like, a renewed feeling of, like, I
Cam Jurgens
need this fingers sucked it.
Tara Lawan
Fingers are awful.
Cam Jurgens
Like, you can jam a finger and you swear it's broke.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And you're like, all right. Yeah, we're gonna have to X ray this. And you X ray is like, you sure it's not broke? It feels pretty broke, right?
Tara Lawan
You're, like, trying to close your Dude. And anytime you, like, jam a finger, like, the accuracy of your punch, like, subconsciously is just not where it needs to be because your brain is like, we got to protect whatever that is. Like, I broke this one in camp, and for the next, like, two weeks, like, my right hand, wherever I put it, was like, that's not where it's supposed to go. It would just be a little wider. I'd let him in my chest a little bit. It's just. Yeah, the fingers are awful.
Cam Jurgens
Oh, in high school, I had this one. I. I broke it. I didn't know I broke it at the time. And my fingers, like, pointing straight out, and I go to the sideline, I'm like, hey, I think I dislocated my finger. I think I can just pop it back. And so, like, I just pulled it, popped back into place, taped it up, and I got an X ray the next day, and it was just broke all the way through. No, I don't know if I did that or that happened, but, yeah, I had to get four pins put in there. I'm like, yeah, probably popping it back into place. It wasn't the joint, right?
Will Compton
Yeah, but what a badass story to have.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. No, I went back in there. We won the game.
Will Compton
It was looking right back, straight ahead, head. I remember one time, it was when I Was with Oakland. I got my thumb caught in a helmet, and it just my. It just my thumb up, dude. It was brutal to have for the rest of the year because just a. It's like, you're playing on it, but it never, like, gets better because you're having to practice and operate on it every day.
Tara Lawan
Right.
Will Compton
You know what I mean? It's not like one of those injuries where you're just like, you can't be, like, a candy ass.
Tara Lawan
You can't rest. You can't do.
Will Compton
Yeah, but it hurts, bro.
Tara Lawan
Even, like, the first couple days of camp when, like, the palms just, like, from hitting chest plates, you're like, I don't want to do this.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Right now you have, like. It has to, like, call us over.
Cam Jurgens
And nothing pisses you off more than going to a walk through and then having, like, a scout team guy, like, put his hands up somewhere and then it jams your finger and walk through and your wrist.
Tara Lawan
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That is so frustrating. But yeah.
Will Compton
The Huskers, Iowa.
Tara Lawan
Jesus Christ, man. Man. Yeah, you guys are playing. We watching it. What time is it at?
Will Compton
I don't know what time at night?
Tara Lawan
Sometimes.
Cam Jurgens
Probably prime time.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, Gotta be. Gotta be.
Will Compton
It's prime time for all Midwest, dude.
Tara Lawan
What?
Will Compton
Mitch just asked him what his favorite cheesesteak spot was.
Cam Jurgens
There's so many. Like, literally every block, there's one. I like John's roast. Roast pork. That's.
Tara Lawan
That's.
Cam Jurgens
That's a good spot. Angelo's is really good for a chicken, but everybody knows how to do it there. They're all delicious. But, like, if you say you like a spot, then somebody's gonna be pissed. Like, dude, you haven't had my spot over wherever. And per capita, they got. I mean, every street's got a freaking cheesecake spot. It's crazy.
Tara Lawan
We had some questions from fans here. You want to zoom in on one there?
Will Compton
Noah Stoddard. Favorite spot to eat. Lincoln.
Cam Jurgens
Have you had the watering hole? Oh, have I had the best wings.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Incredible old bay wings. Delicious.
Tara Lawan
Best wings ever, Lincoln.
Cam Jurgens
That I've had.
Will Compton
Okay. It does. Great spot.
Tara Lawan
Okay.
Will Compton
Great spot.
Tara Lawan
All right.
Will Compton
Because they have a couple locations. They still have that second one off of Rosa Parks.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
Because you got the one downtown. I lived over by the one that. Where you take Rosa park parks. And I live closer there, so we'd always hit that spot. Dude, Watering hole is a. Is a juicy one.
Tara Lawan
You never took me to watering hole.
Will Compton
Was anybody here at the watering hole? Maybe Jack.
Tara Lawan
Which one?
Will Compton
I know JP Was There, bro.
Tara Lawan
The first.
Will Compton
Because we went to the one downtown. I, like, took him to the one downtown. Like, all right, let's hit the Watering Hole. Yeah, you guys will love the Watering Hole.
Tara Lawan
When we first did our first spring tour, which is where we go to different colleges and stuff like that, I like. We went to Ann Arbor, and there's like, we'll go to Benny's is the breakfast spot we go to. You can go to. You can know, Mr. Spots. All these places that are like, this is Ann Arbor food. Like, if you're gonna go to Michigan, you want to feel it. This is, like, the places we're gonna go. So a couple weeks later, we go to Nebraska. I'm fired up. Will's like, I gotta. I gotta show you this breakfast spot. It's gonna be fire. I'm like, I can't wait. Because I'm thinking Lincoln, Nebraska, typing it up.
Cam Jurgens
Too much Highway D. No, no, no,
Tara Lawan
no, no, no, no, no, no, brother. He took me to the Village Inn. We pull it. We pull in. I'm thinking to myself, like, this kind of looks familiar. And I walk in, and there's, like, legit old people on, like, ox oxygen tanks and just like. Like, rotating pies. And I'm looking around like, bro, we have. We have these in Arizona. Like, I. Like, everywhere I've been, Village Inns, like a.
Will Compton
Like a ihop, essentially, was popping when
Tara Lawan
I was in school. We spent the whole 45. Because it was just us, right? Was it just us because, like, the boys were sitting like a Maybe. I think Scott Frost podcast.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, it was me.
Tara Lawan
We didn't have. So it was just us. We're grabbing breakfast, and we are. We. I can't stop laughing.
Will Compton
We had laughing gas in our system
Tara Lawan
once we walked in Village in. I'm like, show me the spot.
Cam Jurgens
I look over and see this old
Will Compton
guy in his mouth, and he misses it. Falls. He's got the wires in his nose.
Tara Lawan
There's, like, weird elevator music playing in there. I'm thinking, like, where the did you take me? These pies that are three days old. Just kind of rotating in the corner.
Will Compton
Gas. Back when I was in school, bro, I also took. I also. I also took him to Virginia's.
Tara Lawan
Virginia's, like, trailer spot, right?
Will Compton
Virginia's Cafe.
Cam Jurgens
We always went to Highway Diner. That was.
Will Compton
Sounds like a good spot.
Tara Lawan
Do you know your town?
Cam Jurgens
It's the spot.
Tara Lawan
What. What's a. What's a sandwich spot? That's, like, kind of in, like, right across the highway from Memorial, and it's in that cool little, like, lead bellies.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, that spot's good, but solid. They got this burger there. You put like two cinnamon rolls burger, and then just chili on top, bro.
Will Compton
That's what blew my mind. Because I do. I do chili with peanut butter sandwiches. But going to Nebraska, when you go to these chili cook offs and everything else, like, it's all. Are the competitions, it's always chili with cinnamon rolls, which blew my mind.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, I grew up, like, every. Like, in school growing up, like, we always had chili and cinnamon roll day. Everybody was fired up for chili. I thought it was like, everywhere is having chili and cinnamon rolls.
Will Compton
And that's what I thought with peanut butter sandwiches. Thursdays would be chili and peanut butter sandwich day. And people were like. They thought I, like, had a dick growing out of my head when I brought up peanut butter sandwiches. People still do. They have no clue.
Tara Lawan
I still have justice for years.
Will Compton
And I'm like, is it justice? Is it just Missouri? And then I got Missouri guys on the team, some from St. Louis. Mike McNeil. But I remember asking him, he's like, no, I've never heard of that. I'm just like, what? What the. Like, is it just our town that does a.
Tara Lawan
Hey, that ain't a cinnamon roll, is it? Yeah, that's what they're saying.
Cam Jurgens
That's a classic Runza.
Tara Lawan
What's the deal with runs Us Delicious. Are they?
Cam Jurgens
I think it's just in Nebraska.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, yeah, I know it runs it like that. They always.
Cam Jurgens
Cabbage, though.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, I didn't. I didn't understand.
Cam Jurgens
There's not that many cabbage people out there.
Tara Lawan
Cabbage ain't for me, dude.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, yeah.
Will Compton
RUNS is a. It's a. It's a delicacy in the bread.
Cam Jurgens
Nebraska, I would say, like, in Nebraska, the Midwest, they do fast food, right? Fast food is good there. And you go to a big city, fast food sucks.
Tara Lawan
Okay.
Cam Jurgens
But they have so many, you know, they don't have that many, like, cuisine options in Nebraska. And I went to Philly, I'm like, dude, I didn't even know Mediterranean food was a thing. Yeah, I got some, like, Indian food food. Had some chicken tiki masala. I'm like, this is unreal. Yeah, I go back to Nebraska and I got some Indian food. Like, well, this is an Indian food, you know? So Philly, like, the food scene out
Tara Lawan
there, it's just opened you up a little bit.
Cam Jurgens
It's incredible. Yeah, I've learned so much.
Will Compton
His theory's on, though, George. We were talking about it on last week's Pod like just again being more from like small town feels they take their fast food a little bit more serious than if you go out intentional. Yeah, yeah, intentional versus like the big cities to you where, where you have so much other cuisine to eat on that the fast food. That's why they get the bad ratings.
Tara Lawan
Is there like a. What's the fast food chain burger spot in Nebraska that everyone's like, this is the best. Like you go out west, people like in n out Burger Texas is.
Cam Jurgens
I mean RUNS has got a great burger. Runs Good burger.
Tara Lawan
RUNS is a franchise.
Cam Jurgens
Taco John's is like unreal. It's a better Taco Bell. Yeah, Runs. It is a franchise.
Will Compton
But the franchise.
Tara Lawan
You guys have Jack in the Box out there, right?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, but it's, it's not good.
Tara Lawan
So this, this, this take might not hit with you, but Jack and I
Will Compton
went through this franchise.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, yeah. Franchise. But my, my taco take is that your basic taco from Taco Bell isn't as good as your. The tacos at Jack in the Box.
Will Compton
I mean the Taco Bells at Jack in the Box is just like the little 99 cent tacos.
Tara Lawan
No, they had the bigger ones. They got the bigger tacos as well.
Will Compton
I don't think I've ever had them. I've been on like they're kind of fire. You get the 99 centers ranch and dip it.
Tara Lawan
There's going to be a couple people in the car. Comments. Understand what I'm or want to fight what I'm saying, but that's something Jack and I went through about a year ago.
Cam Jurgens
A lot of them like fast food spots have some good food. I mean Sonic Breakfast Burritos of Sonic. That's the best breakfast place you can go to.
Will Compton
Germ gets it about that. Ultimate means three times at least a
Cam Jurgens
week, any time of the day 24 7. My God, it's so good. Yeah, it's good.
Tara Lawan
I haven't had it. I'm thinking about Carl's Jr. Like Carlos Jr. To me has great breakfast burritos. Full chunks of ham in there.
Cam Jurgens
Go get yourself ultimate Mean cheese breakfast burrito at Sonic.
Will Compton
Yeah, everything at Sonic is the best.
Cam Jurgens
It'll change everything.
Will Compton
Sonic's nice change of view of it
Cam Jurgens
and I go to like the east coast and everybody's like dogging on Sonic and Arby's. I'm like, bro, these are the spots. And you go there and like, oh, they, they aren't good out here. They just don't care.
Will Compton
Yeah, man, you're, you're Waxing poetic right now. Sherm had. Sherm has one for you. Sherm, go ahead and read that one.
Cam Jurgens
This is a fan question that came from Planes, Pools, Plains Pools asks, have
Tara Lawan
you ever considered that your position is
Cam Jurgens
a little gay with the QB all up in there? Now that you say it, maybe, like, it's. It's. It's crazy, like, seeing other people that didn't grow up with football try to understand football. And we grew up here with football. We just know everything about it. It's just, like, simple. It's like, yeah, we're gonna go play some football. And then you start describing the rules of football to people who don't know it. And you're like, this is confusing, you know? And, like, soccer is just simple. You know, you kick a ball on the goal. But like, football, there's, like, right. There's rules, penalties. You get four tries. You get a first down. Yeah, you don't. You have to do something else. I'm like, it is tough to explain football to a non football person.
Tara Lawan
That was an incredible weave.
Cam Jurgens
If you tell him, like, oh, I play center, give the ball to the quarterbacks. Like, well, how. How do you give the ball to him? And, like, well, he puts his hands, like, right in my butt.
Tara Lawan
Right. Where's the best place? Oh, the gooch area.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. I want to feel that wrist, like, up under in the gooch. Like, get in deep.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Do you ever, like, think about your hygiene at practice? Like, okay, today's a stinky day. Like, Jalen's gonna be kind of upset when he's got his hand on there all the time. And then he kind of.
Cam Jurgens
Kind of. Oh, dude. In fall camp, like, I'm just. I'm soaked. Like, I'll lose, like, 10, 15 pounds of just sweat. Like, I'll just be disgusting. And then there'll be, like, certain plays are supposed to be under center. And Jalen be like, yeah, we're not doing that. We're going gone.
Tara Lawan
Oh, that bad?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, it's bad.
Tara Lawan
That's funny. That's what Corey, 11, was. He didn't have an extra pair of shorts to change it into practice.
Will Compton
No.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, There's a lot of guys like that. Corey just happened to play center, but they would. He would have to change his pants. Like, full pads. He'd have to have new.
Will Compton
That's selfless.
Tara Lawan
Selfless.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Bring it out there.
Cam Jurgens
But then you got to put, like, a towel in there. Baby powder. Change pants. It's just like, I'm fine being sweaty. It doesn't Bother me.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, that football, it can be caught if that football is sweaty or not fair. So I don't know. They can get by it.
Tara Lawan
So.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, it builds.
Tara Lawan
You safe to say Jalen hurts being a little dramatic, not going under center.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
Do you feel like a clean take?
Tara Lawan
That's a clean take. Heavy touch.
Will Compton
Do you feel like a man doing the tush push, Dude.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. Lining up and you just. You're knowing you're. You're about to get this first sound. It. It does feel good. But then, you know, you be. I'm just in the middle, you know, and sometimes, like, we'll run that play and I'll be on the bottom of the pile not knowing if we got first down or not. Just not knowing where I'm at. And then all of a sudden, they're yelling at me to get up and run another play. I'm like, we get the first down. What's going on, guys?
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And then doing. Doing a hurry up play out of. Out of, like, QB sneak. Unreal. Like, you can't. You can't get up off the ground and, like, hurry up and run and play and know what's going on. It takes you a little bit to, like, get back to reality after you run that play, especially if you run it back to back to back.
Will Compton
I was gonna say. Were you.
Tara Lawan
That was a crazy.
Will Compton
Were you as annoyed as the rest of the world running, like, what was it? Four toast bushes in a row?
Tara Lawan
Dude.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, I had a broken back at the time.
Will Compton
That was in the.
Cam Jurgens
That was the second half of the game when I. When I came ship game, I'm like. I couldn't even, like, walk or stand, and I'm like, out there, and they're like, all right, we're just gonna keep running this and running this and running this, and I. I go to the sideline, like, after we scored, and all the coaches are so juice up, like, hell yeah. I'm like, no, dude, get the. Away from me right now.
Will Compton
Can we really not call anything else?
Cam Jurgens
Not cool, guys.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. They weren't thinking about you at all. And that's true.
Cam Jurgens
And the dude's jumping over the back. Back. Yeah, Jumping over the pile, landing on my back. I'm like, just give us a touchdown.
Tara Lawan
What did that back feel like the next day?
Cam Jurgens
Oh, I mean, awful.
Tara Lawan
Could you walk?
Cam Jurgens
No. Yeah.
Will Compton
When your mortality sinks in, after winning the super bowl those next couple weeks, how quick did you get back surgery after the Super Bowl?
Cam Jurgens
Well, we had our parade on that Thursday or Friday, and then I Think I had surgery on the Monday.
Will Compton
Were you parade ready?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I was good to go for the parade. You know, just few beers and. Yeah, it helps.
Tara Lawan
Few beers from vitamin T. He's like,
Will Compton
hey, can I get the epidural before we hit this parade?
Tara Lawan
Right. He's the only. Only player to take a Tortol shot before a parade.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Just getting ready to go. This comes from 1/5. How would you defend Will Compton coming into the A gap? Two salty, greedy cats going at it. Also, is there any trash talk at the line of scrimmage for the center? Center and the linebackers?
Cam Jurgens
Oh, for sure. Especially if you're calling out their number, going wherever, and they're talking. But yeah, I mean, if you try to come through the A gap, like, bro, head down, you're getting.
Will Compton
It's gonna.
Cam Jurgens
No, top of the head's the hardest part of your body, you know, and
Will Compton
mine's gonna be under your chin.
Cam Jurgens
Good luck.
Will Compton
Good luck.
Cam Jurgens
I'm already in a squat. What are you talking about? I stay low.
Will Compton
It'll be a stalemate. It'll be a stalemate where you don't make the tackle.
Cam Jurgens
Tackle.
Will Compton
But the A gap would be stuffed. And running backs, you know, Saquon would have to be back there bouncing around, doing his thing. Then somebody else comes in and makes.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, he'll just jump over both of us.
Will Compton
He just jumps over the A gap. Yeah. What is your best. Who's the most talking linebacker you've won against?
Cam Jurgens
I feel like linebackers don't talk that much. It's like the. The D line, guys that are coming in for, like, two plays and getting subbed out, you know, and they're, like, all juiced up, up, like, talking, and it's like, dude, you've. You're doing like 30 plays this game. Like, I'm doing every play. The linebackers. Every play.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And so they don't really talk much.
Tara Lawan
Are you shit talker?
Cam Jurgens
No, unless someone's talking to me.
Will Compton
He's trying to work hard, finish the play.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, you work hard, finish the play. But go and get some jaw sets in as well. Is there anybody on your offensive line that is a talker?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, not really. I feel like everybody's just gassed, you
Will Compton
know, that's what you're playing.
Cam Jurgens
You're just gas. You don't talk much.
Will Compton
You're, like, trying to.
Cam Jurgens
Unless, like, if D lineman's coming in, like, I remember. Oh, this is. This was rough. When I was playing guard, we were at Kansas City, and I remember going to the game and they're like, hey, don't. Don't talk to Chris Jones. Like, don't fire him up. And I remember it was like the, the last play before going into half, and I, like, I, I locked him down on a play and we threw the ball downfield. Big play. And I'm just, I was juice. I just started jawing at him, like,
Will Compton
first down, like, let's go.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Will Compton
You know, in his face, the white boy goats.
Cam Jurgens
And I'm like running downfield, like, ready to go score. And then we fumbled the ball and then they got it back. I'm like, that's the last thing going into halftime is. I was just mad dogging Chris. I'm like, this is about to be a rough second half here.
Tara Lawan
How was it?
Cam Jurgens
Oh, it was good. We won. Oh, it was raining and they didn't cancel it.
Tara Lawan
Sometimes you need that. Go birds. 62 says ask him if he actually noticed any difference after stem cell treatment. Now, you were in, what was it, Medellin?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. Went down this place, bio accelerator, and it was great, dude. Going down to Medellin and Colombia, like, pretty cool, just mountains everywhere. It was a good time. And I feel like I, I am noticing difference. It takes a little bit for the stem cells to kick in. Have you guys got any?
Tara Lawan
Yeah. How was it? What was the protocol? Was it a four day protocol?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, I was down there for about a week, but yeah, you're getting IVs, you're doing rehab treatment, then are they
Will Compton
pulling the stem cell out of your body?
Cam Jurgens
No, it was somebody else's stem cells.
Will Compton
Got you. Yeah, yeah.
Tara Lawan
What do you do? You do NAD before. Like, was it like a prep period?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, they had that too. Doing NAD through an IV is like. Was that your first, the most fun time?
Tara Lawan
Yeah, it's type two fun, for sure.
Cam Jurgens
Sure. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Is that your first time doing nad or had you done it?
Cam Jurgens
I've done it a few times.
Will Compton
Yeah, it's.
Cam Jurgens
And you're just trying to do as much as you can as fast as you can, and you feel like you're dying?
Tara Lawan
No, no. Yes.
Cam Jurgens
I don't think this is good.
Will Compton
How quick do you get yours done? Nad.
Tara Lawan
So for people listening, first off, how much do you do?
Cam Jurgens
Like 750.
Will Compton
Okay.
Tara Lawan
Okay. So go ahead.
Will Compton
So for people listening, like, if you do a drip nad, a lot of times, I would say the average is what it takes. Like an hour.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, probably.
Will Compton
Probably an hour for the drip. It's a slow drip. Some people, Some people can Speed it up and do it faster. How quickly is your 750 milligram NAD drip going?
Tara Lawan
The people that are listening right now, like, you feel like you have the flu. Your balls. Like, you feel your balls. Balls are being vacuum seal. Like, people throw up. Like, you feel terrible.
Will Compton
People slowly, like, crushing your chest. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
And as soon as the IV, literally, if you stop the IV, everything. As soon as you stop the IV, like, 10 seconds later, you feel. Feel amazing. But it's just while the IV is dripping, you feel like.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Mean Lane. We would, like, let our IB bag get to, like, below half, and then we would dump everything in, and we would try to, like, pressurize it and go as fast as we can and, like, race. And it was, like, the worst four minutes of my life.
Tara Lawan
Four minutes.
Will Compton
Dear God.
Cam Jurgens
It's quick.
Will Compton
Yeah, you'll let it drip. You'll. You'll drip half, though, so you probably go.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. So it's just, like, less and it's more concentrated. But you're just. I mean, it's brutal, but it's fun, man. Like, it's just competition. Whatever.
Tara Lawan
After you're done, though, how good do you feel?
Cam Jurgens
I don't know if it's even, like, feeling good or just not feeling bad, you know, That's.
Tara Lawan
No, that's a fair point.
Cam Jurgens
You feel like death. And when you don't feel like death, you're just like. I don't even know if it's good, but you're just like, all right, well, I'm not dying.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that's. I mean, that's a good point. I personally love it.
Will Compton
We've told this story a few times, but Roger Saffold. Did anybody else do it? Like, safe?
Tara Lawan
One guy, but I forget his name right now.
Will Compton
Saf would come in, and it'd be like, we're all on drips doing the nad, and he come in, and it's just. He just takes it to the head. What was it, like, eight minutes?
Tara Lawan
No, dude. He would take a syringe at the end of it. So he would do his IV bag. They would take the IV bag out, and then it'd be like a syringe. Like, that was like, that big with 750 NAD, and they just put it in. So it was like 30 seconds.
Will Compton
The time I witnessed where his eyes are just bloodshot shot. He lays on the floor, and they just squeezed the bag the whole time. It took eight minutes. And it just looks like he's dying in front of you. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Like, two days later, he gets up, he's like, all right.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Jesus Christ.
Cam Jurgens
It's kind of an insane thing to do.
Tara Lawan
Insane thing to do. Insane.
Cam Jurgens
Doesn't seem right. Like, why can't we just, like, take a pill or something? Yeah, something else.
Will Compton
I think they got NAD pills, but people, you know, you want to get it.
Tara Lawan
The pill doesn't really feel like it does anything. They have nasal spray for it as well, but it just doesn't.
Cam Jurgens
No pain, no gain.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, Right.
Cam Jurgens
You want to feel like. So. I don't. I don't know, dude.
Tara Lawan
It feels like it's working. When you feel like.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, it's like, you know it's doing something.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, right.
Will Compton
Because it's me up the minute it drifts versus, like, a pill or spray. Like, you don't feel nothing. So it's like, am I actually getting better?
Tara Lawan
Yeah. Am I a fraud or am I really doing something to get 1%?
Will Compton
I don't want to be a puss.
Cam Jurgens
The first time you do it, though, and you see that drip come down, you're like. Like, this isn't going to be that bad. And then right when it hits, you're like, yeah, I'm feeling something.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, dude. Yeah. You don't really know how to even comprehend it. Like, you start to get a headache, that chest pain. For me, it was always the nuts. We did Bobo Adam, Bobo ar here. Before he had his company, he was like, just kind of, like, doing mercenary work, ripping around. And so I met up with him. He's like, hey, the FDA has done studies up to 1850 for NAD, so let's just do that. And I would be in the basement of my house, first place that we. We met for, like, three hours, just, like, laying there doing 8:50 of NAD while him, my wife, played video games and got high. It was the most miserable experience of my life.
Will Compton
Hey, I'm seeing 1850. Like, let's just do that.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, like, they said it's safe up to this point, so let's just go ahead and do that.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, it's so shitty. I just want to get done as fast as I can.
Tara Lawan
I gotta get back on. Gotta get back on it.
Will Compton
We got one here from Jared Beeman. Was Columbia sick? How's the food?
Cam Jurgens
Dude, the food was good. Honestly, I felt great, like, going down there. I feel like when you're in America, you just have so much in your food. It's so processed. You go down there, like, you travel, and you're, like, eating anything and everything, and then you get done with the week. Like, man, I'm feeling good. And then you go back home, you, like, have a fast food burger.
Tara Lawan
Did you, like, go, like, check out any Pablo Escobar stuff while you're there?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, dude. Our hotel that we're staying at, like, we could see the private air strip that he put in in the middle. And like, everybody's like, yeah, he would just sit in the air strip and just watch his money fly in and his product out. And it's just. It's cool seeing that, you know, you watch Narcos and you're like, yeah, you're like, I'm juice to go down there.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, no doubt. That's it right there. No.
Will Compton
Have you guys seen Narcos?
Tara Lawan
What a show. What a show. Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, dude, how about Pablo bringing in 60 mil a day?
Will Compton
Yeah. How about Pablo Unreal Escobar, man. If you think about Epstein, I'm joking. We're joking.
Tara Lawan
Having a fun time. We're having a fun time on the show.
Will Compton
He did win the lottery twice. He did win the lottery twice.
Cam Jurgens
What's going on on with that Epstein stuff right now?
Tara Lawan
Rumors are he's alive.
Will Compton
I think he's alive.
Tara Lawan
100 will's been in the weeds a little bit.
Will Compton
The weeds that I'm in the weeds that I'm in that, you know. Did you know he won the lottery twice?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, that's.
Will Compton
The rabbit holes I'm. I'm in on right now.
Tara Lawan
All the emails, stuff like that. Just crazy.
Will Compton
It's just a web. Like, you know, you can rabbit hole
Cam Jurgens
and you learn so much, and you get out of that rabbit hole hole, and you want to tell everybody.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Are you a big conspiracy theorist guy?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, dude, they're fine.
Tara Lawan
Everyone is, man.
Cam Jurgens
They're fun.
Tara Lawan
What's the biggest theory that you like,
Cam Jurgens
you believe too many.
Tara Lawan
Do you think that.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, the alien stuff, like, there's so many conspiracy theories that just aren't conspiracy. And people like aliens are here. I think.
Tara Lawan
I think they announced that, right?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, it's. It's.
Will Compton
Yeah, but what he's saying is people still look at you and be like, dude, you're fucking drinking the kool Aid.
Tara Lawan
People still ask the questions, do you believe in aliens? And I think the question is now, like, how crazy is it that we have aliens? Aliens?
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Like, I think they're here. I think they're in the ocean.
Tara Lawan
That'd be a great spot for them to go.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
We know more about space than we do the ocean.
Cam Jurgens
We know nothing. And I think that's on purpose.
Tara Lawan
What if the megalodon was still alive because what we.
Will Compton
We haven't.
Cam Jurgens
Probably protecting them. Probably down there in Atlantis.
Will Compton
We haven't checked out like over 90 of the ocean.
Tara Lawan
That's crazy.
Will Compton
You think they're down there like, underground? Or they have some.
Cam Jurgens
They probably just city developed over time. And they can go in the water.
Will Compton
Yeah, like Jar Jar.
Cam Jurgens
Who knows what they look like.
Tara Lawan
This is just arc, the game arc.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
They probably got a base down there in a Bermuda Triangle. I've been reading about that.
Tara Lawan
Amelia Earhart.
Will Compton
Yeah, they probably got a base down there.
Cam Jurgens
Maybe they converted her to alien. She might still be alive. Who knows?
Tara Lawan
She might be. They say they found a plane in Antarctica and there. There's rumors about. That's Amelia Earhart's plane.
Cam Jurgens
Could be.
Tara Lawan
Could be.
Cam Jurgens
There's some weird stuff going on up there.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
So are you in the camp that there. That there's a city down there or that there's. There's an operation down at the bottom
Tara Lawan
of the ocean talking about Atlantis?
Will Compton
Well, he's talking about the Bermuda Triangle. Like, I want to drink the cool. I mean, I love the conspiracy theories.
Tara Lawan
Love the conspiracy.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. I think it's like a military base or whatever for them down there. But I don't know. I mean, since. Since we started getting nuclear, like energy and bombs. I think that's when they start showing up. Probably trying to protect us from ruining the world.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
From ourselves. Yeah. You believe in ghosts?
Cam Jurgens
I feel like you got to. I just don't know what kind or where or whatnot. But, I mean, if aliens are here, we're here. There's probably some sort of ghost couple
Tara Lawan
guys that got lost in their way.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. I like to believe in ghosts, especially in October.
Tara Lawan
100. What's your. What's your take on. What's your favorite holiday? Your top three holidays?
Cam Jurgens
Halloween's up there.
Tara Lawan
Okay. That's all I need to hear.
Cam Jurgens
And Fourth of July, and I feel like the rest are like, holidays, you know, Those are the top two.
Will Compton
Where's Christmas?
Tara Lawan
Hold on.
Cam Jurgens
But, like, I don't know, dude. There's something about October. It's like a whole month.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah. I mean, we agree. I agree with that, but I'm just
Tara Lawan
saying we do agree.
Will Compton
I feel like you're not giving Christmas. It's love a. Because you've just been a football guy. So Christmas is kind of like, again, just a regular holiday. The moment he's on the other side of it and get to experience some Christmas, get some family, it's gonna skyrocket up the charts.
Cam Jurgens
Not yet.
Tara Lawan
See, that's where that'll change. Christmas will become a much bigger deal to you once you have kids.
Will Compton
He's part of Seaman Team 6 right now. Yeah, he's just fly for the love of the game.
Tara Lawan
I love that. Love that. But Halloween, dude, something about even in Nebraska, I'm sure the, the parties were incredible. People dressing up, doing a whole bunch of stuff. But just that weather starting to break. I don't need to get into the whole spiel, but it is just an incredible month, dude.
Cam Jurgens
In Philly they have this place, Eastern State Penitentiary. It's where Al Capone was at. And it's a super old penitentiary that's been shut down for a long time. But there's some crazy stuff that happened there. And now like every October over, they shut the whole place down from tours and then they turn it into a huge, like, scary house. And there's like five different places you can go into. And you're walking through this penitentiary and it's like the most insane. They have like hundreds of actors come out there and they. It's so intense and so fun. I go every year.
Tara Lawan
Sounds incredible.
Will Compton
It sounds.
Tara Lawan
Sounds incredible.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, you have like glow sticks and you like wear a glow stick and if you're wearing that, that means you can get touched.
Will Compton
Have you ever wore the glow stick?
Cam Jurgens
Every time. Yeah. They like grab. You bring to a different room and you don't know what's going on. You're just there to have fun, man. You just enjoy it.
Tara Lawan
Have you heard about. Well, first off, is there like, are there places where you like pay a certain amount of money and you, if you get through it, you get a McKinney Manor. That's one in Tennessee. But there's one that had like levels. Like there was like 10 stories. I think it was in Texas. And there's only like two people that made it through. It was like a firefighter, like a Navy seal, some dope like that get a prize. If you get a prize or something like that. Cool T shirt. I survived X, Y and Z.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, they bury you alive, bro.
Tara Lawan
And they like stick you with like hallucinogens. Like, it's crazy. Apparently the guy's under, allegedly under a lot of different, like lawsuits right now taking place. But you would like give like, I think a 50 pound bag of dog food and 50 bucks or something like that. And they have you for like five hours. People talk about like they would wake up or end up up in a different state at times. It's just nuts.
Will Compton
This should 100 be under the miss.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy.
Will Compton
Dude. You know what we should do?
Tara Lawan
Tell me.
Will Compton
Add it to the list.
Tara Lawan
McKinney Manor?
Will Compton
No.
Tara Lawan
Oh, 100.
Will Compton
Go out to Philly during Spooktober with Cam.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. Our busiest time of year.
Will Compton
Hopefully it just hit that. Pitt's playing haunted prison. Al Capone. You've heard Alcatraz.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, I went and saw it when I was out in San Fran for the Pro Bowl. That place is awesome.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
And then I had to watch. Oh, there's a movie about it.
Tara Lawan
The Rock.
Cam Jurgens
Not the Rock, but I've seen that.
Tara Lawan
Shutter Island.
Will Compton
Yeah, Shutter Island.
Cam Jurgens
No, it's about why the whole place got shut down.
Will Compton
Shawshank Redemption?
Cam Jurgens
No.
Tara Lawan
Oh, I think on the tour, they told us why I got shut down. Right.
Will Compton
Longest yard.
Cam Jurgens
Sick Movie.
Tara Lawan
Sick Movie?
Will Compton
Yeah. Gridiron.
Tara Lawan
Have you seen the Rock Star?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Incredible film. Film? Those little green balls. He hasn't seen it, so I don't want to give up too much away,
Will Compton
but don't spoil it for me.
Tara Lawan
What?
Will Compton
I still gotta go see it.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that alone. Have you seen Entourage?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. You haven't seen Entourage?
Will Compton
No, I haven't seen. I've seen the movie.
Cam Jurgens
Movie's pretty good, but I feel like the movie's only good if you watch the show.
Will Compton
Well, I like the movie, so maybe. I know.
Cam Jurgens
Then you'll love the show.
Tara Lawan
You'll love the show.
Will Compton
I'll tell them. I'm gonna check it out. It's on my. It's on my list. And I got to do it before. Oh, boy. Come. Comes in.
Cam Jurgens
Have to.
Tara Lawan
That's in May.
Will Compton
Yeah. So I got time.
Tara Lawan
Oh, no. Oh, boy. He doesn't know. They don't know which old boy know.
Will Compton
Old boy?
Tara Lawan
They didn't know that is coming. Did I ruin it? Oh, it. Dude. Damn. Oh, we got one from at Chef Hanning. How would Cam fight a ghost if he had to? Easy answer.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, it depends. What kind of ghost, you know, are you trying to. Like, what kind of ghost is it? Is it a ghost that's, like, taking over my body myself? You know what I'm saying?
Tara Lawan
That's a great question. Yes.
Cam Jurgens
I feel like that's broad. That is like, if you're fighting yourself, are you just trying to kill yourself?
Tara Lawan
Are we not all fighting ourselves every day? I mean, our internal demons.
Cam Jurgens
But what's a good. Demons are taking over.
Tara Lawan
That's how. So how do you fight off. How do you fight off the internal demons when they're trying to get you,
Cam Jurgens
Cam, dude, I think you Just drown yourself. I feel like there's not that many ghosts in the water. You know, they might be scared of the water, but that.
Tara Lawan
Okay, yeah. First off, love where your head's at, and that's kind of like Fight Club situation. Yeah, but have you seen Fight Club?
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Okay. Just making sure. But killing yourself, drowning yourself, I feel like there's a. I mean, yeah, we're gonna get rid of the ghost, maybe, but he might just get out of
Will Compton
there right as you're. Take a chopper and just drop me in the ocean. To where, you know, even if you're trying to survive, like, you're not going to make it because you can't swim back to shore.
Cam Jurgens
You get dropped in the ocean.
Tara Lawan
Okay.
Cam Jurgens
Drown yourself, you die, ghost dies. And then you get survived by an alien coming up, bringing you down. That would be top tier. And then. Yeah, nobody ever sees you again because you're just like, all right, I can swim now.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tara Lawan
What would. What would your message be to aliens if you were confronted and you were the human being that the world was like, cam Juergens needs to be one. Represent us.
Cam Jurgens
Dude, I think I just want to know answers. Okay, so, like, they know so much. How'd you build the pyramids? That would be the first one.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. So you don't believe humans built the pyramids? No.
Cam Jurgens
Shock. Not us humans. Maybe different humans.
Tara Lawan
Different humans. Like alien humans? Maybe alien things.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah.
Tara Lawan
It is tricky, the pyramids. Yeah. When the conspiracies get into it, I always forget about the pyramids. But those are clearly not man made.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Aren't they, like, aligned with stars as well?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, something like that.
Tara Lawan
Something crazy.
Cam Jurgens
I always just have to wait and listen to Dr. Joe talk about what's going on.
Tara Lawan
If. If the aliens. If you had to give the aliens one song to represent American culture, what would you give them?
Will Compton
Hey there, Delilah.
Cam Jurgens
That's a good one.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, but they only had one good one. That's a scary part.
Cam Jurgens
Maybe. Country Road by John Denver.
Will Compton
Nice. Nice.
Cam Jurgens
They would like that.
Tara Lawan
It's a great.
Cam Jurgens
They would like that.
Tara Lawan
Yep.
Will Compton
You start kind of nudging them. Country Road.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
By the third chorus, they're singing along.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that's a good one, man.
Will Compton
Don't you love this pod?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, this is great, dude. I. I've been listening for a long time since you guys first started up.
Tara Lawan
Oh, no.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. I listen in college.
Tara Lawan
Let's shut up.
Will Compton
Jerks. Baby. What else could we ask him?
Tara Lawan
What was internally going on with the Philadelphia Eagles this year? Year.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, guys, we can talk about anything.
Tara Lawan
You know, this dude's pro. He's pro.
Will Compton
He is. How about what's, what's like, what's a story? Are you moment or a moment where you realize, like, this is so much more of a business than I assumed
Cam Jurgens
it would be, dude. I mean, it's just football, like the nature of it, like, it's, it's crazy because I remember one time we're out in the summer just doing drills like, whatever, and you just see like a 10 year vet just tear his Achilles and his career's over and everything's changed. And then we're just like, all right, move the drill up five yards.
Tara Lawan
That's the craziest thing in the world to me.
Cam Jurgens
And then like the next day it's like, yeah, he's cut. He. We don't want to pay for his, you know, rehab, whatever. We'll give him severance pay, whatnot. It's just like, you know, it's hard like because you have so many guys at the start of the year and then you just know everybody's going to get cut by the end of the, you know, going into the season and if someone may get cut, picked up with another team and he may be brought back and then cut. Brought back. Like, I've seen guys get cut like six times off our team the same. Dude, it's like, why do you keep coming back, man? Yeah, you know, it's just like this
Tara Lawan
place is not for you.
Will Compton
Or even when you're got, even when you're a guy in your safe and then it's like your contract is coming up and then you start learning the ins and outs of like, oh, dude, am I really potentially not going to be here next year?
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, some guys are like too big. Good. You know, they're getting paid too much and then it's like, oh, it's, it's too much to pay this guy. So then you're getting cut.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, I was, I was dumb and assuming like when I went in because I was practice squad my first year. So when I got my three credited seasons I was going into essentially like my contract was up because I was undrafted. So I only had like a three year deal and I was technically in the business terms, I was like an exclusive right, rights, free agent. And I'm thinking I got voted captain, I played a lot. Like I've started the entire year or I played a lot this year. Like I'm gonna be the guy going into next year. Like, surely they'll probably. We'll probably do like a two or three year deal and they'll kind of like reward you and then you kind of just learn. No, you're on an exclusive rights deal. Like, essentially, you sign this contract or you just don't. You're not going to play for anybody else. You're like, dude, so we're gonna work something out.
Cam Jurgens
I'm like, tough when you're on draft,
Will Compton
like, really, you know. Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
When you're on draft, drafter, you're fighting every year because like GMs, they draft somebody, they want him to work out and then they want him to be good. So you're going to keep getting chances because you're drafted and the GM wants to be like, yeah, I drafted that guy.
Tara Lawan
I picked that guy.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, we're like the undrafted cats, you know, it's. You're always getting replaced.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
It's like, if you don't work out, who cares? Like, that was. Yeah, that's why you went undrafted.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
And then if you're good, it's like, who. Whatever scout or whoever was like, looking at you like, see, I told you I could.
Cam Jurgens
And then that scout's trying to move up totem pole. And like, it's. Yeah, it's just such a, like, political business.
Tara Lawan
How about the first time you, like, cut days happen? I know, like, you got cut and put in practice squad for your first season. But like, for me, I remember like my rookie year, I was a first round pick and even like going into cuts, I was like, hey, am I safe? And they're like, guys are kind of laughing at me. But seeing guys that like, are in your draft class and then they're getting cut, they're crying on their way out. There is no, like, development period. Like, in college for me, that was like the first time I was like, oh, shit, this is actually. You can't just stay here.
Will Compton
What happens to him now? It's like, well, hopefully another team picks him up. What if another team doesn't? It's like, well, he's got to figure it out.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, he's got to go live his life. It's like, oh, it could be over. Just like that. It's the craziest thing, man. They're seeing that first time in Canada
Cam Jurgens
or the ufl, it's just like, it's a grind.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
To the NFL. And once you get here, it's like, it's such a business. I mean, you get chopped up and spit out and then guys are always trying to get their way back and you play Football your whole life, it's hard to. To, you know, let it go.
Tara Lawan
No doubt.
Will Compton
Yeah, no doubt. Because even in college, too, you say you're not working out or they're gonna still spend time trying to, like, not give up on you or develop you or whatever it is. You kind of. You're kind of still catered, especially if you're like a scholarship guy. So when that whole structure, you're going into the big leagues or the professional world, knowing that there is no structure whenever you're done, it's kind of like, yeah, that's why it's important to still, hey, what other interests might you have if you're not a guy who's going to play in the league for a decade?
Tara Lawan
Decade.
Will Compton
So a smart play with the jerky move.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. Building business, man, it's. It's been fun. I mean, we got into. Just this last year, we got into 140 stores in, like, Pennsylvania, all across the state. And just, I mean, selling jerky. It's cool because I started in college with my right guard at the time, Matt Sichterman. He's like a software engineer. He, like, built a website. And my mom was with our business, and we made loc together and started. Started selling jerky. And, I mean, the whole goal was just, you know, stay close with one of my best friends, Matt, and then make my mom some money. And, man, it's been fun.
Will Compton
But that is cool, bro.
Cam Jurgens
It's cool, like, because I have no idea what I'm doing in the business world or anything like that. And you just learn as you go, just fall forward. Yeah. You're always just learning. And you're like, all right, what steps do I take? It's like, well, let's just figure it out. Let's. Let's do this. And then if it doesn't work, then we'll figure it out. The next step.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
And in the very beginning, you think, oh, I'm just, like, one phone call away from getting this in stores across. We just got to get this national.
Tara Lawan
If we just get a Costco, it's over. Like, if Target will just pick us
Will Compton
up, you just learn. It just doesn't work that way.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. And all the ins and outs and the games that are playing with all the other jerking companies.
Will Compton
What's your favorite?
Cam Jurgens
The favorite. Mango habanero. We got a mango habanero, and it's a little spicy, but it's sweet. And then hot honey, cracked pepper, original teriyaki. And then, I mean, the best. Best way to sell it Is just online because it's just direct to the people. And we got a website. Jergy Co J U R G Y dot co. You guys gotta check it out. It's incredible right there.
Will Compton
Yeah. As you're saying all that.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. Give you guys a pack. Mango habanero is my favorite. But when you're in season, I mean, it's just all football. It's so tough. And I see guys with, like, families and kids. I'm like, like, man, I don't. I don't know how. How you go through a season with a full family and kids. Like, it's got to be tough.
Tara Lawan
Yeah. We were having that conversation the other day about how, like, I had my. I had kids while I was playing. Will was. After how many years playing, I met my wife. Year three. Like, going into year four, I had my first child played nine. Wish I could say 10. And so, yeah, I had two kids. But it really turns into, like, when you have kids and you're in the NFL, like, there's a kind of, like, the main thing is football.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Like this. That it sucks to say. And it's, like, really hard for some people to hear, but, like, you're only in this for a certain amount of time. The older you get, the more you realize, like, oh, the expiration date is coming. So to have a partner that sits there and is like, I understand that you have to do this right now. So I'll take on, like, 80% of the work, 90% of the work, and you come in and fit in where you possibly can. And then there's a whole different game of when the season ends and you're on this routine of. Of waking up at whatever time you are getting back, watching the film, doing the massages, hitting the nad. Like, your process, your routine. Now you're coming back into your family's routine, and they've already established theirs. And so you're trying to fit in and be like, yeah, I'm the dad, so I need to put myself here. But then there's, like. It kind of ruffles a lot of feathers because she's so used to doing that. So, like, the first couple weeks for me, after every season, was very difficult for me to, like, kind of, like, put myself back into my family's life because it's. It really was like, you guys have to take a back seat for this. Six, seven months, whatever it is, and routines, just everything.
Cam Jurgens
Because it's hard to have motivation and energy all the time. But if you just stick to a routine, you're Consistent. Like, that's everything. When you get done with the season, your routine just shifts and you, like, lose yourself for a little bit. Trying to, like, get back in the training. Getting your routine set exactly. Always takes time. But, like, when you have kids and. Or a dog or whatever, like, your routines just constantly changing.
Will Compton
I'm smiling because Jared perked up when you said, or a dog. And he's like. Because he's inside. Inside.
Tara Lawan
Off the.
Will Compton
Yeah. Off the field.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
He's like, oh, dogs. Like, having a kid.
Tara Lawan
It's nothing like that.
Will Compton
But, yeah, like, I. I was talking to Taylor, too. I'm like, I just feel like I just lucked into the part of, like, having the kids after, because part of me was. I was like, I'd love to have kids, like, while I'm playing. So you get, like, photos on the field and do all the stuff.
Tara Lawan
Stuff.
Will Compton
Then when we had kids or when we had Rue at first, and I was looking at. This was year 10, but when I was looking at leaving and going to Atlanta to play and knowing all the things that it takes to, like, pour into a newborn and your kid really just pour into your wife because of everything that they go through, and I just. It was almost like a perspective shift. Was like, dude, it's got to be hard to balance being a parent in having a career, like playing in the NFL, because you're so. Your entire dream growing up is playing in the NFL. And then when you were playing in the NFL and you either meet your wife or you had. Had your girlfriend going into. And then you decide to have kids, you almost just don't. You're just blinded to it because you're not thinking about. You're just like, yo, this career is the career I've always dreamed of having, and we got to do everything we can to make sure I maintain this career. But then it's like my perspective shifted into, like, you know, respect to the. The. The dads that are trying to balance both and doing it, but massive respect to just the moms because they have to essentially cater around everything in your world, because the world is like, how do we do we play this game?
Tara Lawan
How do we maximize the opportunity we've been afforded?
Will Compton
Because when I was set to leave, Rue was like, Rue was born in April, so about seven months in, and I was about to go to Atlanta. Part of me was like, I kind of hate that I have to go. Like, I'm just not gonna see, like, my baby and my wife for this extended amount of time, however long that I Would have played, even played in Atlanta, or you guys can come visit me then. And it's like, well, that's going to take a lot of hoops to go through because the baby has such a structure that you're kind of. Of married to.
Tara Lawan
To where.
Will Compton
When I was leaving, when it didn't work out, a part of me was like, relieved of, like, well, at least I get to be home or be around my kid. Because I kind of felt bad that I was like, hey, I'm gonna still go chase this year 10, or kind of go chase this dream when I know it's pretty much done. Like, I'm kind of just going to do it for fun now. And leaving you guys back, I'm kind of like, I felt like a shitty person.
Tara Lawan
Ain't it weird?
Will Compton
Yeah. Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Because it is.
Tara Lawan
You. You were in such a unique situation, but it is, like, kind of the part of, like, guys leaving their families. Like, dudes that get traded mid year and they're in like, year nine or ten, they have a multiple kids and their kids are in school, so they, like, have to go to a new city. They're like, yeah, my kids get done with school. They're coming out there. So that's months.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Of them just not seeing their father. And it's face times and phone calls. You. Your situation is wild.
Will Compton
Mine is wild because it's like, busing's going well.
Tara Lawan
There's really like, there was no reason to leave. But also, also, it's like, once you're done, you're done. Like, once you. Once you shut down, you hang out the cleats. Like, we all go through, like, this. This part of being like, hey, it's crazy. It's over. Like, I'm three years removed from playing football and I think about football, it's like, it's crazy to think I ever did that. Like, it feels like such a foreign world to me now because you have all these new things you're doing every single day. We. We get to do this. But also your kids are going. So you're just like, not. Like, I'm focused on football. When it's on in the fall, we have to do our show and stuff like that.
Will Compton
But.
Tara Lawan
But something that was such a. Like, the majority part of your life, that was the biggest part. 80% of your life is now 10 of your life. And it's such a weird thing to kind of balance and just like, kind of reflect on and think back. Like, that's crazy. We used to play.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Oh.
Cam Jurgens
What was like, the Things going through your head before you retire and being like, I can't wait to do this when I'm done playing football. Like, what. What were you guys looking forward to the most?
Tara Lawan
I think you already kind of said it. And it's. It's due to. It's. It's. There's. There's on the micro. It's waking up on August 7th. And then you look at the. The thermostat and it's 92 degrees outside. And you know there's a bunch of guys in the town that you played in, and they're all dying. You're like, you know what? I'm gonna take another 45 minutes. I'm gonna sleep a little bit longer today. Like, that's something you're like, yeah, you think about when you're playing. Like, it's crazy. When I'm done, I can just sleep during this day. Something about, like, going trick or treating with your kids and not think about, I have to play this guy in three days, and these are his moves. I remember we would do a thing with the Titans where, like, we try to do most Fridays, like, I get the Old Line boys together, a couple extra guys. We would go to a haunted house in Nashville. And I specifically remember, like, walking through these haunted houses. And while I'm, like, trying to, like, be in the moment, I'm thinking about Von Miller's, you know, spin move and how he sets it up while I'm walking through. So I'm not truly present. I'm kind of, like, enjoying it, but I'm not really enjoying it. And there's like, Christmas, and it's like, you go into meetings, aren't till 2pm so you can enjoy the morning. It's like, okay, we're doing this, but in your brain while they're opening presents, you're like, I gotta get back to that. So it's like Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving. It's like, I never played on Thanksgiving. Have you played on Thanksgiving before?
Cam Jurgens
I think so. But yeah, holidays suck when you're.
Tara Lawan
Holidays suck, dude. And then once you get out, bro, it is. It's so much fun. And that's what makes October even better. It's like the opening ceremony to all of the holidays. It's. Holidays change everything, dude. Yeah, that when football's done, the holidays are such a game changer. And it's truly like, you don't get a lot of reflective periods when you're doing this. Especially the world we live in because we get the jump from something so quick. And there wasn't that time of, like, what is my identity? Who am I? I've been this for so long. Like, that kind of like, got to go away because we still get to live in this type of world. But the holidays, when you really sit back and it's like Thanksgiving and I got the boy over and his kids running around and Ru's asking me to go do something while all the the older kids are upstairs and I bring her up and you kind of sit on the couch. Everyone's got full bellies. My boys are over, and it's like, I got nothing to worry about today. Yeah, this is. There's nothing. I'm going to throw a couple of bets on. Hopefully Detroit doesn't the bag because we're going to bet on them because they do it every single year. And this is awesome.
Will Compton
Yeah, it's like the moment as a vet when you experience a weekend in season to where you're not playing like mine. Like, I. When we launched, when we were doing busing, I was fired up about doing the bus because I was like, you know, this is a transition that we could have.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Will Compton
But I was. There's still a part of me. It's like, all right, whenever August comes around, like, I'm gonna still try and get on a team and play for the year. For me, like, I ended up going to the Saints, but then I got injured in the fourth preseason game, and so I got an injury settlement. Like, my ankle was just fucked for like six weeks and then I'd be ready to go. But just kind of tasting those first six weeks of the season where at first I'm kind of like, you just feel out of place because you feel like you need to be focused or, like, involved somehow. Like, it just doesn't feel right. But when I'm like, I'm back home. I just played for the Titans. I'm watching the Titans on the weekend, thinking about how we could balance bus and with Taylor still playing on the Titans. Or I'm gonna go in and do xy. I'll probably do the intro solo or whatever we were doing then. But seeing the Titans lose and knowing like, oh, I didn't lose, like, I'm not going to be in the meeting rooms the next day, there's almost just this weird weight of anxiety that you kind of release yourself from for when you wake up on Monday morning, you step outside and it's fall and you got the crisp breeze and just the spooktober vibes are coming, and you're kind of like, like, maybe A little fall golf. Yeah, maybe a little fall golf. But you feel like you should be in trouble since the team that I'm following or still feel invested and just lost the game, but I kind of don't have that. And then that kind of stacked. And then when I played on Oakland, I kind of felt like, oh, this might be my last year. But the moment you start experiencing the holidays, the weekends in the fall, and just knowing you're not tied, Your identity isn't tied to something to where? You know, in Nebraska, when you lose, you feel like the world's just on top of you. Or in the NFL, when you have the business aspect expect. Or I'm not playing well, what's the front office thinking? Or what are. What's the meeting vibe going to be like? Like, is our guys going to get our together this week? Are we going to win this game? When you're kind of, like, done with that, it takes a. It takes a little bit. But the moment you accept and you're kind of like, yo, I'm gonna go get a iced latte down at the coffee shop this morning and not have any obligation to sit there and stare
Tara Lawan
at my phone for a little bit.
Will Compton
Yeah. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Nowhere to be in, and you're just
Will Compton
seeing kind of the headlines. You're like, oh, like, that kind of sucks.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
And, you know, guys are dealing with their things because they're in the bubble. It's like, anytime we could say something out of pocket about a guy and he might feel some type of way, I'm thinking, like, okay, I can definitely empathize with what he's probably with what he's feeling, because he's in. He's in the bubble still. Like, I was the same way. I always thought, like, man, this kind of sucks. Seeing my name come across, everybody kind of dogging on it, talking on it. But then when it's over and you're kind of, like, removed from it, you're like. Like, you feel like you can just breathe. I don't know. You just enjoy. You enjoy everything a lot more when you're playing.
Cam Jurgens
There's just so much anxiety and pressure, and you're just like, in a tunnel.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, when you're in the meetings, that's just all you're at, and you don't realize there's, like, an outside world.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Going on outside. You. You just think like, oh, my life is great. Oh, my life is hell. Like, this is where I'm at right now.
Tara Lawan
And then, what's up, you guys? We're going to take a quick break
Will Compton
from the show to give you guys
Tara Lawan
a quick disclaimer for the last 15
Cam Jurgens
minutes of the show.
Will Compton
The audio is going to sounds super funky.
Tara Lawan
I'm very sad to report to you
Will Compton
guys that the audio file on the bus got corrupted, and this next 15
Cam Jurgens
minutes is the best I could do
Tara Lawan
to recover and clean it up.
Cam Jurgens
Thank you guys so much for watching.
Tara Lawan
Just wanted to give you guys a
Will Compton
little bit of a heads up on why the audio sounds weird. For the next couple minutes, feel free
Cam Jurgens
to trash me below.
Will Compton
Big hugs, tiny kisses.
Cam Jurgens
It's just hard keeping up with everybody.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, you just shut the outside world out. It's like, all right, I got a game Sunday.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, Family. Family comes into town. They're trying to talk to you about things that you don't give a about. And you're like, all right, man. Yeah. And you're like, not really there.
Will Compton
Or you do have some. A FOMO element because you're like, man,
Tara Lawan
I would do it. I love that my family's coming out
Will Compton
for this game and they're doing all these things. Like, it would be fun to partake in that, but also, I got to
Tara Lawan
focus on this other thing, so please don't bother me too much. And then you wake up Saturday morning in the team hotel and you have a game at 3:12, 3:30, night game, and, like, just slowly that anxiety starts creeping in your body where you get the breakfast. You're like, no, I can't really eat. I don't want to come off. Like, I'm nervous right now because I want everyone else to feel good because I have to play everyone else. Like, everyone wants to feel good, so I'm gonna, like, kind of just hold this internally in me. Then you get on the bus, and it's probably. This might be the same for you. I feel like it's different for guys that have stats because you think about ball and, like, how many tackles am I gonna get? How many catches am I get for whatever? How many yards am I gonna run for? For us, it's like, at least for me, I'll speak for myself as, like, I just pray to God I don't this up for the rest of the guys today. That could be a part where it's like, yeah, I did my job to help the rest of the team win, but what if I get exposed? So you have this, like, imposter syndrome thing going on, and you're like, literally driving into your home game. You're driving into the S slot, whatever it is. And you're just thinking to yourself, like, the anxiety is so high. And you walk in, fans are fired up. You try to, like, get them all hyped up, and you're behind. You're like, this is truly my judgment day right now. National anthem hits, and they're just like, I need to just hurry up and get on the field before I throw up. Now all that is gone.
Cam Jurgens
And, like, game days, when we're playing at home, my house just turns into a hotel. Who's ever in town, my parents are always out there. And then, like, there's just so juice for the game, so much energy, and I'm just, like, nervous for the game. You know, anxiety is hidden, and you just trying to, like, prepare. And then your parents are just, like, excited about tailgate. Doing this, doing that. Oh, my gosh. This year, it was a night game, and, like, I was getting ready to head out the door, and my dad's like, hey, you want to drop me off at the tailgate on the way in?
Will Compton
I'm like, no, I'm not dropping you
Cam Jurgens
off with a tailgate. I'm sitting here thinking I'm about to go to war. Like, I feel like I'm, bro, driving down to, like, Baghdad dad gonna, like, you know, go to war with the bad guys. And then your dad's like, hey, you want to drop me off of the tailgate?
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
No, no, no.
Tara Lawan
I'm hopping in the chopper. It is so true, man.
Will Compton
And then again, you, like, people, like, throw opinion. Like, you go through all of that mentally, and then somebody on the outside
Tara Lawan
or, like, comment your name about something
Will Compton
or, like, talk and just itchy because you're so in the box, you can't see any.
Tara Lawan
It's like, okay, what the do you do? Like, you probably sit wherever you do
Will Compton
with your job, like, and we compare
Tara Lawan
it to us where it's like, yo, what other.
Will Compton
What other jobs out there are just not performance based?
Tara Lawan
Literally every day to where you go
Will Compton
in and out of practice, in and
Tara Lawan
out of games, to where now you
Will Compton
go into Big Boston, and you're literally
Tara Lawan
getting commented in front of everybody by
Will Compton
your technique, your ability, everything you see every day. And then the moments that that's gone, and then you come to, like, accept it.
Tara Lawan
It's very free.
Cam Jurgens
But it's such a different culture in football because, like, you go out of that and you go to a regular world, and your boss is no longer cussing at you doing the same shit. You're like, man, this is weird.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You're like, just you can't just, you know, say the things you're saying in locker room or with your culture, like with the guys in the building.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
As soon as you're getting off the shop, it's like, what the is going on?
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
So you're like, oh, okay, I had
Tara Lawan
a tough day, but I'm able to show up tomorrow. Like, everything's all good.
Cam Jurgens
Like, yeah, it's kind of how it
Tara Lawan
works on this end. The, the.
Will Compton
The hardest part is like, I feel
Tara Lawan
like you come off of such a high in, in football to where we
Will Compton
play in the NFL. I think of it the analogy of
Tara Lawan
you found this roller coaster. It gives you so much, like, juice and so much energy and such, like, a purpose. Like, this is my reason for being.
Will Compton
And after the game, I think a lot of guys struggle is finding that
Tara Lawan
next thing that gives you the same
Will Compton
urge that you feel weird of, like, you know, adapting yourself to the retired life of like, what is my next
Tara Lawan
thing going to be? That's probably the biggest hurdle that I feel guys struggle with. Because you're on such a roller coaster. Move in because it's so fight or flight the entire time. Like, am I going to be here tomorrow or am I going to take down Vaughn Miller? Like, it's. It's something different every day, every week. There's so much variety. Three, you don't have that as much
Cam Jurgens
when you're out of it. You can just get cut and traded anytime, anywhere. And like, the casual fan just sees that and they're like, oh, so and so just got traded. Can't wait for him to play. But then if you're a player, you're like, man, how's he going to move his entire family out there and then practice to tomorrow after he just got traded?
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, it's like, dude, the logistics behind everything and, like, moving or whatnot. Like, people don't understand that.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
Like Max on his pod, the rush
Tara Lawan
last week when he's kind of breaking down all the stuff that went on with Baltimore and he called Rachel his
Will Compton
wife and like, hey, the Baltimore move
Tara Lawan
happened and everything else. And he just talks about how Rachel, like, almost like was starting to cry because you have such a vested.
Will Compton
You've been in Vegas for so long
Tara Lawan
and now you got to move and
Will Compton
do everything else where.
Tara Lawan
Where it's like, oh, that should be easy. Like, Max, you make like you're one of the highest paid guys like this. These things shouldn't even be felt or go on. But just listening and say that, it's like, yeah, it happens.
Will Compton
It happens all the time with guys. So it's like, hey, we're going to
Tara Lawan
be across the country now in a completely different world. Like, I know we've kind of had your routine here, but his wife's crying
Will Compton
on the phone thinking like, damn. I, I knew that something like this
Tara Lawan
was coming, but I didn't know it was actually going to happen. The back situation was nuts.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
The Max situation. Scream. Have you thought about life after football at all? You just signed a crazy contract, so you, you're sitting nice.
Cam Jurgens
But yeah, I'm thinking, man, waking up
Tara Lawan
and I get to take care of
Cam Jurgens
my lawn like every day. That sounds exciting. I'm excited for that. Yeah, but like, I love football, you know, I want to play as long as I can and, you know, hopefully just keep playing with Philly. Like, it's just there's not too many better places to play football than with the Idris. Especially when you're there. You know, if you're not there, you probably hate us. You know, it's kind of how it is.
Tara Lawan
It's kind of nice. There's like a badge of honor in a way, isn't it? To like be like all these fan bases hate us because we, first of all, we were with and our, our fan base is crazy and coming in here has got to be super hostile for other people. Let's kind of be like, yeah, everybody else.
Will Compton
Yeah, yeah.
Tara Lawan
Your fan base is just so goddamn hostile. You know what I mean?
Will Compton
That's what feeds the these a. Because I'm getting coined as like an
Tara Lawan
Eagles hater and I'm thinking like, I don't hate the Eagle, so. But you're making me root against them because of how insane you guys are, which I love. I love the entertainment of the league
Will Compton
and all the things that go on. It's more like, I'm just saying they're probably going to drop. Just letting you guys know and you guys dropped. I see your hands go up.
Tara Lawan
I'm like, but be the Huskers in Iowa.
Cam Jurgens
Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, game.
Tara Lawan
Game.
Will Compton
How long do you want to play?
Tara Lawan
Like if you had a crystal ball to the wheel. He's a wheels fall off type of guy.
Will Compton
I mean, cuz, you know, like you got drafted second round, you know, you're a good player.
Tara Lawan
Like again already a two time Pro Bowler.
Will Compton
Like, do you think about like, yo,
Tara Lawan
be set to get 10, be set to get 15.
Cam Jurgens
I mean, it'd just be nice to get to like a few contrasts. Yeah, I don't know. We'll Figure it out year by year, and, you know, hopefully, you know, everything's settled by then. But I don't know, right now I'm playing.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Because it's such a short window, and so it's so different than every other job.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
When you're done playing, you had ability to, you know, not have to work again. You get a side work and.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, it's just wild. And right now it's just like, all right, I'm a football player and that's what I'm doing. I'll figure that out the next thing you.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Venture business, entrepreneur, jerky business. Trying to grow that. And, you know, that's. That's a pretty cool thing to fall back on. I'm not buying. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
When I was talking to Levante when he just got drafted, he's like, it may be sitting 10. This dude's still standing at what year, 15?
Cam Jurgens
Yes. Right now.
Tara Lawan
Which is nuts. 10's the older number. Nicholas, you're familiar with Frontline, aren't you? You so people would do anything for an ice cold bug life. What's something kids would do anything for? Cancer.
Cam Jurgens
It's a good question.
Tara Lawan
Thanks, man.
Cam Jurgens
I'm thinking of, like, I mean, that's Sonic breakfast burrito. Like, if you're hungover. That's what I'm going for.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Sometimes, like, I do any thing for a Sonic nearby. I love that that's where my mind went. But it's probably a lot better option.
Tara Lawan
No, probably not, dude.
Cam Jurgens
Probably a lot better options.
Tara Lawan
Is there. Are there good Sonics in the Philly area or is it kind of like, I got to get out of here?
Cam Jurgens
No, there's not really. Yeah, there's a good Sonic down here, though.
Will Compton
How do you like living in Nashville?
Cam Jurgens
Love it, dude. It's such a good, good area.
Tara Lawan
Yeah,
Cam Jurgens
it's nice being here, you know, there's so much land and you kind of get a little bit of everything here.
Tara Lawan
Big city.
Cam Jurgens
But I don't know. I mean, I can't be on the east coast. Can't be on the west coast. Like, I grew up in Nebraska, so random. Nice one here. Midwest guy. Living in the big city was such a huge change for me. I mean, growing up in Nebraska, living on a farm outside of town of like 200 people, called Pickle Nebraska. And I was like. And I hour or about a half hour south of Lincoln there and then never saw the ocean until I went to California to start my, like, draft training. So that's the first time I saw the ocean and Then, like, I go out there and I'm driving on the road. There's nine lanes on the Sanders City.
Tara Lawan
I'm like, this is nuts.
Cam Jurgens
And I get drafted to Philly, and this is always, like, the story I tell. Like, when I. When I go to Philly, like, I. I had to go to see a dentist when I got there. And I get the address, go to the dentist office. It's downtown. I'm driving my, like, big truck down there. I pull up to a building. It's a skyscraper. I'm like, okay, where the hell do I park? I'm like, trying to find a place to park. Finally get to a garage. Truck don't fit. They have to hold it outside for me. I go in there. I'm like, all right, I'm here to see the dentist.
Tara Lawan
Where?
Cam Jurgens
Where is it? And they're like, all right, it's on the 17th floor.
Tara Lawan
I'm like, okay, 17 the floor.
Cam Jurgens
There's five dentist offices on the floor. I don't even know which one I'm going to. I'm knocking on the doors back in Nebraska, if I need to go to the dentist's office, I drive to the dentist's office.
Tara Lawan
I park and I walk in and
Will Compton
I see the dentist.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
You know, like, big city knocker. Yeah. And if you.
Tara Lawan
Not for me, and if the dentist's
Will Compton
office is 25 miles away in your
Tara Lawan
brain, it's like, oh, it's going to take 25 minutes to get there now.
Will Compton
In the cities, bro, that's 25 miles away. Your initial listings, like, all right.
Tara Lawan
Right. I'll probably get there 25, 30 minutes. It's like, that ain't how it works. Yeah.
Will Compton
Five miles away. And you're like, I'm gonna have to leave.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton
That was a big.
Tara Lawan
That's a big difference going on. City life. Sounds like you didn't utilize big domestic office situation.
Cam Jurgens
I did not, dude. I was just so naive. I'm like, I'll just drive to the Dennis office and park.
Tara Lawan
Nope, no shot. That's not how it works.
Will Compton
Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Living in a big city, it seems like the queasy.
Will Compton
What are you thinking for your spooktober stoom this year?
Cam Jurgens
Stoom.
Tara Lawan
But Stone costume. Okay.
Cam Jurgens
You know, I haven't thought about it yet.
Tara Lawan
Yeah, that's fair.
Cam Jurgens
Maybe, like, now that we're talking about it, maybe like a. An alien slash ghost, like, hybrid.
Tara Lawan
Okay.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah, we could do something there. Yeah. By October next year, like, we'll probably have like, a. Some footage of some aliens.
Tara Lawan
Like, everybody's probably Gonna see what they look like.
Cam Jurgens
So maybe I can start playing costume. Yeah.
Tara Lawan
Country room.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. There we go.
Will Compton
Fun pod.
Tara Lawan
Fun pod. I'm sweating my. Dude, I was just gonna say I'm dying hot in here. Shut it down. Jeremy Club, you have the last question for Mr. Kendra.
Will Compton
Oh, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Philly. Fly, Eagles.
Will Compton
Fly.
Tara Lawan
Last one. I feel like, just off your vibe and hearing you talk. What's like, the one big purchase you made after signing your big contract? Sounds like that truck.
Cam Jurgens
I feel like I didn't make too many big purchases after I got clear that TSA PreCheck. That was, like, the first thing I got. I'm like, I can afford this. And then, dude, I got a deal with X marks. Or I got a big old mower. Zero turn. Love that. Like, I didn't even pay for it. You know, I just did some advertising. And so that's the cool thing about some of these things. You don't even have to pay for it when you get the money, which is, like, nuts.
Tara Lawan
Every outlet, dude. This is every office alignment. You're.
Will Compton
You're.
Tara Lawan
This is awesome.
Will Compton
He's a husk or.
Tara Lawan
But I love, love some of these answers. Sitting there talking to Jerky at the Pro bowl, by the way, I got. How ridiculous is the Pro bowl now?
Cam Jurgens
What was that?
Tara Lawan
It's terrible.
Cam Jurgens
It was just like. It was just run by, like, social media people.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Like, we'd be in the hotel, like, chunky practice. I'd ask somebody, and they'd be like, oh, you need to talk to somebody else. Like, hey, what are you here doing?
Tara Lawan
Right?
Cam Jurgens
Can you just tell me where the bus is? Is there a bus us? Am I walking?
Tara Lawan
Do they need to bring back the game?
Cam Jurgens
I don't know. If it's in Hawaii, you might as well.
Will Compton
They're going to keep it that way. They just need fanatics to do their flag football stuff.
Cam Jurgens
Was it good?
Will Compton
I liked it. I enjoyed it.
Cam Jurgens
I had no idea what was going on. I was so blocked into March Madness. I just had a little get together. I had, like, 14 guys come out this weekend, and. And they all shipped out yesterday. So it's nice to have a little empty house now. Yeah, but we had, like, our Master's draft. We do it every year. So we, like, draft our players for the Masters, and then we have, like, March Madness going on. So, like, it was just. It was a good weekend. Fun.
Tara Lawan
Dude, that sounds like a good.
Cam Jurgens
Yeah. Just getting all the bros together.
Will Compton
A Master's draft.
Tara Lawan
How do you even do that?
Cam Jurgens
So we have 14 people. We draft five guys. And then, yeah, you're hoping at least three of them make the cut because I think your. Your top three guys end up getting scored. And last year I only had two guys make the cut and I was pretty much done after day two.
Tara Lawan
So what's the winner get?
Cam Jurgens
Just all the money. And then we got like, we got a green jacket, we got a trophy, we got a lot of like, things. Just because you're trying to make a yearly thing, an annual deal. And when you get a trophy, you get a jacket, you get all these little deals and get the winner's name on it. Like, it helps you get everybody together every year.
Tara Lawan
I love that. Keeping the bros together. You know what, Cam should be a part of us going to a franchise to get absolutely bombed with George Kittle. Yeah, yeah.
Cam Jurgens
Need that.
Tara Lawan
Yeah.
Will Compton

[13:00–20:30]
Memorable moment:
Will: “There's no other school, there's no other competing pro teams. There's nothing except the University of Nebraska. And…you're bleeding red, bro. You're wearing red. It's go Big Red for life forever.” [24:35]
[63:00–79:00]
[87:00–116:00]
Quote:
Cam: “It was easily the worst month of my life, but also the best month—because we won the Super Bowl… I don’t know how I was playing.” [113:58]
[119:00–156:00]
[129:30–132:22]
[142:00–146:27]
[121:00–128:00]
[156:00–end]
On Nebraska pride:
Will Compton: “It’s nothing but Chef Jack’s, JP’s…You’re bleeding red bro. It’s Go Big Red for life forever, no matter what.” [24:43]
On NIL then vs. now:
Cam: “I thought I was the richest man on earth…Now these kids are just getting Land Rovers and, like, hundreds or millions.” [68:03]
On Philly vs. Nebraska fans:
Cam: “Nebraska is die hard, but like, man, if you lose a game…they’re angry to everybody, their family, their friends, they’re just pissed.” [89:46]
On the mental side:
“Dealing with anxiety, pressure, and just in a tunnel…That’s all you’re at, and you don’t realize there’s an outside world when you’re in it.” [167:53]
This episode delivers the full Bussin’ with the Boys treatment: from inside looks at Nebraska and Philadelphia sports cultures, to Cam Jurgens’ candid journey through adversity, leadership, and adaptation—plus wild hypotheticals, food takes, and plenty of jokes. For football fans, Husker faithful, and loyal listeners, it’s a showcase of how authenticity, hard work, and a “team first” attitude can lead from small town Nebraska to the Super Bowl stage.
Listen if you want:
