William Earl Compton III
No, don't ride. Don't say that. There's still a lot of fathers out there right now. That will still buy the week of. It'll be, you know, the shipment will get in a little bit later.
Sherman Young
But we messed up the shipment.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, but yeah, blame it on us. Blame it on us.
Sherman Young
Good. Get your. If you haven't gotten your Mother's Day merch, guys, this is the Mother's Day episode. Welcome to for the dad's podcast. Deke

William Earl Compton III
you just comment and say, hey, please explain to my wife that you guys messed up the shipment. That's all you have to say in the comments. They go respond, give you the proper message. Yeah, that shipment was delayed.
Sherman Young
We'll have an auto generated thing.
William Earl Compton III
There are also dads out there that will say the day of your gift is still coming in. Your gift is still coming.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah. But you could print off a picture of your gift that you ordered for online. That's always a good wife. Love that. For any first time listeners is a dad podcast hosted by 2Dads. My name is Sherman Young. I am a father to a 10 month old daughter, Scarlett. And to the left of me is William Earl Compton the third.
William Earl Compton III
Nice. Rue is four. Scotzilla is about. See here, she's about to be 18 months.
Sherman Young
She's about to be 18 months. And hey, listen, we come onto the show, we like to laugh, we like to, we like to have a good time, talk a little. We also cry. There will probably be some tears on this episode. So if you're a first time listener and you're seeing two grown men cry and you're going, is this every episode? Not every episode, but a lot of them.
William Earl Compton III
Several. And I love to how you've tipped the audience off that you've, you've taken a peek. I don't even know what you saw over there on a write up, but we have a couple interns with us this week, a couple Michigan Wolverines and Sherm. They're kind of shadowing the entire operation for this week and Sherm was asking them before the podcast started, like, hey, just be prepared. We might cry this episode.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
So don't get uncomfortable, don't get a little weird. We all shed some tears. There's some dads that there's Some. Some moms and dads that tears fill their eyes as they're listening to this episode during certain moments. And write ins that people have for us because some of the write ins feels very undeserving. But we get to read them and we all. We all basically cry together. Yes. And everybody watching at home right now, I'm looking back at the interns. There's some broad. There's some broad. Some boys back there, some men.
Sherman Young
For any big blue sickos, they're like, wait, wait, we got some Michigan players. We have Zach Marsh who is a tight end for the Michigan blue. And we have Trey Pierce, who is a defensive lineman. Are you an edge rush? What?
William Earl Compton III
No. He. That's somebody I'm lining up behind over the A gap. Get the three technique going. He might pop out. Yeah. Why motion? Why motion?
Sherman Young
Dude, I can see it. It gets me so juice.
William Earl Compton III
He's right on the hand. Watch the pool. Try. What's the pull here?
Sherman Young
Oh my God. God, I love that. So Michigan sickos, get ready for that. Also we did a lead tube. We have ride ins. If you want to be featured on this show, we read a lot of our listeners comments that is submitted via Instagram, via Spotify, via Apple Pod, review, via dms, on Twitter, on Tick tock on or sorry, Twitter, not for Twitter.

William Earl Compton III
We have an email.
Sherman Young
601thedadsgmail.com. We will also read your emails. I got a lengthy one right here. It quite literally has chapters. Welcome to the show.
William Earl Compton III
Welcome to the show. Great show in store again. Mother's day weekend. It's Mother's day week. We have some videos that we'll be watching from a couple moms sending in some videos, answering some questions about the boys.
Sherman Young
I truly forgot about that.
William Earl Compton III
Again. We'll.
Sherman Young
We'll.
William Earl Compton III
Interns will have a moment to shout out their moms. It's a Big. It's just Big Mom Week. Big Mom Week. Mother of your children. Mom. If you still have a mom, even if you don't have a mom. We're here to celebrate mothers.
Sherman Young
Yep.
William Earl Compton III
And it's going to be a great. It's going to be a great sod. We got dad wins. I'm looking at crack a cold one. Follow ups from last week, buddy. So many people flooded.
Sherman Young
So many.
William Earl Compton III
My Instagram. Dms.
Sherman Young
The blue collar stuff.
William Earl Compton III
The blue collar stuff. Oh, dude, they got an H vac guy. They got a handyman. Their dad would be perfect. Like getting them on the sod. I actually met my mailman yesterday.
Sherman Young
Oh, finally.
William Earl Compton III
Yes. Yeah. He was giving me some tips on changing the ad or changing mail. Still goes to the old house. He's tipping me off. He's like. But my boy. I won't say the names. My boy X. He let. He already knows the deal. He gives them to me. And so I get him to you. I'm just letting you know you can do that. You know, quick, easy step.
Sherman Young
Us.
William Earl Compton III
You can solve that problem.
Sherman Young
Dot gov. Yeah. And make sure you go to dot gov and it's like $2 that you can forward. Start forwarding your mail.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. But great traction when it comes to dads being like, hey, my dad would be perfect. My dad, he's a handyman. My daddy's a carpenter. H vac guy, electrician. He'll jump on your show. He'd be a perfect fit for. For the dads. So we've been getting a lot of those.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Deke
Deke Sherm said it last week. We got a lot of comments to call it PT Fix.
Sherman Young
PT Fix.
William Earl Compton III
PT Papa Team 6 can go with anything.
Sherman Young
The show writes itself.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, the show writes.
Sherman Young
It writes itself. PT Fix. That's an episode of PT Fix, dude. And I got a ton of DMs. I got a ton of comments, a ton of guys that are happy to put people on game. And there is. There are a few things. We'll save it for another time because we're going to get a blue collar guy on the show.
William Earl Compton III
That.
Sherman Young
That is going to happen. That is easy. We can do that. But if there is one thing that I love more in the entire world, it is sitting around a campfire. Grew up hunting and being around a little campfire with some blue collar types. The fingers look like sweet potatoes almost because it's just covered in calluses. And these hands, dude. And they're just sitting there just talking about whatever the hell they're talking about fixing this bro. That. I mean, there is nothing I love more in this entire world.
Chef
Arguments about who works the hardest.
Sherman Young
Yes. You don't.
Advertisement Voice
You.
Sherman Young
You don't work at day in your life. You don't. You don't know.
William Earl Compton III
I was talking to a buddy of mine yesterday and he called in. Former teammate of mine. We're busting balls. He's. He's one of the best. I'll leave his name out of it because we're just catching up. He's a dad of three, and I'm kidding. I'm like, hey, what's new, bro? He's like, oh, jobless. And we're laughing like he does. He's got, like a side hustle. Real estate. He had a W2 and he was like, jobless. Got caught drinking beer. Drinking beer on. On site last week. He's like, well, I wasn't caught, like, drinking. You know, I had a beer and, you know, this rat ratted me out. And we're laughing like, it's just like old times.
Sherman Young
He had an open container in the corner, which is different.
William Earl Compton III
I was like, so did they, like, catch you drinking a beer or. Oh. He's like, well, I want a beer. There was a. I deleted a 12 rack and it was in the trash. And, like, I didn't think to, like, put it somewhere else. I had in the trash can. It's like it was Friday.
Sherman Young
You know how it goes, man. I do, yeah. For sure. But they insulted the earth, dude. It's a. Yeah, salt of the earth. It's some of my.
William Earl Compton III
The rest of the earth type of fellas out there, man. A lot of dads trying to do their best.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Ton of respect for the blue collar
William Earl Compton III
game for the blue collar. Anybody that's new out there, too, listening to us talking about community, us talking about having dads on all this stuff that we're sitting here calling back to write. Ins, voicemails, emails, all that stuff. We have a community. It's called Papa Team Six.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Milk Team Six for the moms or Semen Team Six with the young lads who aren't necessarily fathers yet. You might be breeding until dad status. That's BUDS training right now to where you are in the process of trying to get your little one. We have an incredible community. It is the best fatherhood community out there. Guys. They're. They're everywhere. They're everywhere. You want to shout out all those with discord.
Deke
No, I was gonna say Goon Berets
William Earl Compton III
wild cards. Those are young wild cards.
Sherman Young
Because they could be goomba or they could be semen. Team 6.
William Earl Compton III
The Goomba are just cats that for whatever reason enjoy listening to this podcast has nothing to do with their life. And they just love listening to a couple.
Sherman Young
They're not trying to raise anyone. Like they. You look like five years into their future. It's like, I for sure not having kids in the next five years. Yeah, those are the Goon Berets.
William Earl Compton III
They're. They're dating nobody. Or they're dating everybody or they're dating everyone.
Sherman Young
They're just out there and they're like, hey, I needed a pot on Wednesday to listen to. Maybe this for the good.
William Earl Compton III
You know what? I'm going to delete a 12 rack right now. Only if you're over 21.
Sherman Young
Only if you're over 21 dot shout
Chef
out to Goonbray Matt Malone on his journey right now.
Sherman Young
Oh, shout out, guys.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Sherman Young
If you're not following on social media, you have to be on busing with the boys. That's busing wtb. And you can watch Matt Malone drive his new Volkswagen Volkswagen Arrow. It's a convertible Volkswagen Stick with Volkswagen Stick with Volkswagen VDUB convertible. He's driving from Phoenix, Arizona, all the way to Nashville, Tennessee. And speaking of moms, he's going to be staying at my mom's house in Fort Worth, Texas, along the way.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Happy Mother's Day.
Sherman Young
Happy Mother's Day.
William Earl Compton III
His mom. To make sure this was okay because he's still under his mom and dad's roof. Their house, their rules.
Sherman Young
Matt had to call his parents.
William Earl Compton III
Matt had to call his parents to make sure this was a go. Because Matt total his car a couple of weeks ago wasn't. When I say total, it's not near as bad as it sounds. The whole entire front bumper fell off because he accidentally rear ended somebody. He. He was not texting and driving. He just bumped somebody. Apparently he was looking for oncoming traffic and bumped somebody. Front bumper all the way off. Totaled the car. He's been driving a rental. He's been looking and in the market for a new car. We found this new car on auto drive cars.com cars.com and in Arizona, there's a bit that started through Taylor to. He's got to pick up a car in Arizona and go eat at Zips, which has phenomenal wings. Shout out top three wings because Shout out your boy.
Sherman Young
Shout out your boy.
Deke
You can shout him out when he's on.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
We can shout him out when he's on, but the. The deal is we will buy him the car. And all he has to do is, the stipulation is he has to fly. We fly him to Arizona, he has to pick up the car, he has to drive it all the way back. And he's got some, like, side quests along the way. Going through Texas, going through Albuquerque, to where he's got to create content and essentially earn this free car that he's going to be getting.
Sherman Young
Oh, ye gosh. We called my mom and wish her a happy Mother's Day and say, oh, also, can you let three of my co workers sleep at your house? Is that okay?
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's gonna be stopping through him. Mitch, Ryan, Nolan.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
They're all going to be going through. So you can follow those at bus. WTB socials. All bus with the boy stuff. I got something here I'd love to kick off, please, instead of saving it for the lesson of the week. And at the end, since it's a. It's a Mother's Day theme, I have some here that I would like to share for everybody. Let's go. Whether you are somebody with a mom, whether you're somebody without a mom, whether you're somebody or you're somebody that has your wife who is the mother of your children, this is a Mother's Day message from. For the dads, most of us. And again, I'm writing from a spot to where we're going to be listening to videos that Deke's mom sent in, Chef's mom sent. Insurance mom sent in. Everybody knows that your boys cried on this podcast many of times talking about my mother because my mother suddenly passed away four or five years ago. Four or five years ago, Ruse four. So it was when Charlie was pregnant. But this, this message here, most of us will never know when the last time was. The last time your mom sent you a message. The last time she called just to check in. The last time she said I love you before you rushed off the phone. You didn't mark it. Nobody ever does. For the dads who still have their mom. And you're in the middle of those. Those last times right now and you don't even know it. My boys, listen up here. Zach and Trey, listen to this. Call her this week, not because there's something wrong, but because nothing is wrong. Drive over there for no reason, let her talk too long about something you don't care about, and actually listen to. Let her be proud of you out loud, even if it does embarrass you, because some of us would give everything we have for one More of those ordinary moments. Doesn't have to be a holiday. Don't wait for it to be a holiday. Don't wait for it to be a birthday. How about just a regular Tuesday or Wednesday as listening to this episode and while we're here, look at the mother of your children. She's doing the same thing for you or for your kids that your mom did for you. The invisible work. The worry that never clocks out. The mental load we have no idea about or even how to solve. Sometimes the love she gives you and the kids that doesn't even need a reason. Don't wait for her to tell you she's running on empty. Let me say that again. Don't wait for her to tell you she's running on empty. See it before she has to say it. This Mother's Day weekend, don't just buy the flowers and call it done. Tell her specifically what she means to your kids, what she means to you. Make her feel like the most important person in the room because she is. Your kids are going to grow up and feel exactly about her the way you feel about your mom right now. Make sure she knows that. And for the dads who have lost their mom, you carry her in how you parent in the things you catch yourself saying to your kids that she used to say to you. You carry her in those fond memories and thoughts about her that your kids will never fully understand but feel. She didn't leave. She just changed form. Love your mom like you already know the date. Love the mother of your children like she's watching you become the man your mom wanted you to be. That is the message. Oh, that I would like to. I wanted to kind of start with that versus I don't know how long people listen. I don't know if people listen for like 45 minutes and then don't finish the rest of the episode. I know there are a bunch of Papa Team sickos out there, but again, before we dive into all the mother stuff, I did want to. I did want to share that because it. Stuff like that. It's like we know how precious life is and you truly, you legitimately never know.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
So love your mom's voice. Call your mom's legit. Call your mom.
Sherman Young
Call your. Call your moms. There were two things that we'll see in my mom interview or my mom's videos that I was embarrassed about that were those not the first words out of my mouth when I came into the office was to Chef and Derek about something. We'll see it later. In the pod. But you wrote so eloquently. You know, let your mom brag about you and be embarrassed by it. It's the worst, that one.
William Earl Compton III
God damn it, fellas, enjoy it.
Sherman Young
Yeah, sit there and laugh.
William Earl Compton III
Say, mom. Stop, mom, please. Then when you let her know that she's embarrassing you on the way out, just let her know that you love her.
Sherman Young
Well, I love you very much. You're a good man.
William Earl Compton III
I love you too, bro. Hey, fellas, call your mom.
Sherman Young
Call your mom.
William Earl Compton III
Matter of fact, that's got to be put on their. It's got to be put on their internship, like action items. Make sure you call your mom.
Sherman Young
Can I. Can I brag about Zach really quick with his Mother's Day gift? Is that the one you're going?
Zach Marshall
That's what I'm going with.
Sherman Young
That's where you're going with.
Zach Marshall
Text her this morning to see when she has availability Saturday, because obviously they're not open Sunday. Yeah, but that's what we're doing.
Sherman Young
He got her a massage at the Four Seasons. So if anybody's wondering if Zach loves his mama or not, he told us he was getting that, which Jeff and I looked over like, yeah, dude, hell yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
Thank you. That Jill's idea. Jill's idea, but I'll take it. We have maybe the best, easiest segue of all time because we have some callbacks from last episode, and I thought that this would be a great one for our Mother's Day episode.
William Earl Compton III
I have one too. Autism Miller wrote in.
Sherman Young
Oh, good, good.
William Earl Compton III
The boys are back there. Autism Miller. You'll have to watch them. You'll have to watch back.
Deke
Explain it to Trey because he was helping me cut. Looked at it. I was like, I got a story
Sherman Young
for that, but I promise, this guy's really autism. Kinda. Kinda. He's a letter off Trevor Trev. Oooh, ulit. Trevor. Uit wrote in. Hey, Brandon, don't do it. You're gonna put a dent in that boy's head. What is that in reference to? You'll have to watch last episode. You have to check out last episode, cuz I don't know what that's in reference to.
Deke
We had a phone call about a gentleman who. Who had a piss missile and he was scared to have shockwave with his wonderful wife because she was pregnant. And so people are saying, be careful.
Sherman Young
Trevor was giving him a hard time. Yeah, Brandon, you're fine.
William Earl Compton III
You're gonna be all good. I got one here from Autism Miller. And again, if you're laughing yourself, you're thinking, what the hell are you saying, Willie C? You're gonna have to listen to some past episodes.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Fellas, hope all is well. Major update from the household. We welcome Lawson Brooks Miller to The World on May 2, 2026 at 12:41pm Central Time. At 7 pounds, 2 ounces and 19.25 inches long, in the most precious, precious human I've ever seen. Perfectly healthy baby boy and no signs of autism running in the family. Mama Bear was an absolute champ and is recovering well, and we are looking forward to going home today. She deserves all the credit in the world. I couldn't be more proud of her. Dad. Couch badge check. Thanks, fellas. Keep doing the work. Yours truly, Austin Autism Miller, PT6.
Sherman Young
Shout out to Lawson, aka Lawism Miller. Yeah, we are very excited.
William Earl Compton III
Autism, because, you know, the family's tuned in right now.
Sherman Young
We got. We got another one for Joel Torpy 5830 on YouTube. He says, Taking notes of your wife's favorite meals is not a dad hack. That's just simping.
William Earl Compton III
Say that again.
Sherman Young
Joel Torpy 5830 dad extraordinaire, says taking notes of your wife's favorite meals is not a dad act. That's just simping. You're just being a simp.
William Earl Compton III
They don't simp.
Sherman Young
You're just caring about somebody else enough to, like, take note of something that they enjoy that brings happiness to them. Dude. What a piece of.
William Earl Compton III
Imagine let him sit next to one of his boys. He's like, what are you doing? And he's like, right now, his notes app. He's like, I'm just. I'm mapping out what my light. What my wife loves because I don't want to mess up orders in the future because I love her dearly. Like, she's. Yeah, I'm just trying to do a solid buyer because I forget stuff all the time.
Sherman Young
Mother to my kids, you know?
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Yeah.
Sherman Young
Loving my life.
William Earl Compton III
Dude, stop simping, bro. You sound like a bro.
Sherman Young
You're such a. Oh, my God. You actually love. He loves his wife. What an idiot. So that's some. That's some news you can use from Joel Torpy 5830.
William Earl Compton III
Here's one from Ted Casper on Spotify. Love Spotify. Comments, fellas. DMV area, pt Sicko here. And I physically winced at the Virginia side of D.C. whole conversation was hilarious, though.
Sherman Young
Oh, no. And he's a D.C. boy.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Oh. So it's not a thing. Do you guys.
William Earl Compton III
Are you guys familiar with Washington, the District Of Columbia. Trey says no.
Zach Marshall
Been once.
William Earl Compton III
Been once. Said what?
Sherman Young
Say it's a good trip. It's a good trip. He's been. Well, apparently, there's not a Maryland sign.
William Earl Compton III
Are you. Are you familiar, like, where it's at on the map? Like, over in, like, Maryland, Virginia area? Dmv. Yeah, dmv, Our nation's capital. Would you say that where it lands similar to, like, Kansas City being on the side of Kansas and Missouri. Are you familiar that there's a side of Maryland and Virginia?
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. How about you?
Sherman Young
Yeah. There's no wrong answer here. No. Wrong.
William Earl Compton III
Pretty sure that's not true. It's across a Maryland side in a Virginia side.
Zach Marshall
I'm pretty sure it's fully in Virginia. I think I. I think just on a map, we've been trained from, like, where? The little Big stars by Maryland.
Trey Pierce
It's like a box.
William Earl Compton III
I'm with you. The way society has trained us.
Zach Marshall
The way society has trained us. It's definitely that big circle.
Sherman Young
Right?
Zach Marshall
You know. You guys ever had, like, the placemats as little kids with, like, the. With, like, the map and stuff?
Sherman Young
Yes. Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Zach Marshall
That conditioned us as children?
William Earl Compton III
Hell, yeah.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
That. Put the tinfoil hat on that. Could. That. And social studies conditioned us.
Sherman Young
It did.
Deke
This side of the table would like to express that it is not a circle. It's a square.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Deke
Would like everyone to know that he's wrong about the circle. It's a square.
Sherman Young
Square. Okay? So we're. We're learning stuff right now.
William Earl Compton III
And my man said it's. It's fully in Virginia.
Sherman Young
Fully in Virginia and the District of Columbia. They're trying to get you. He's trying to get you.
William Earl Compton III
I'm asking questions.
Sherman Young
Asking questions. I will say this. I was thinking about it. Vatican City. Okay. Yeah. If I'm on a phone call in Vatican City, Trey calls me up, he says, yo, Sherman, what are you doing? Where are you? Am I going to tell him, hey, I'm in Vatican City, or am I going to be like, hey, I'm in Rome.
Chef
Vatican.
Deke
It's a country, so Vatican.
Chef
Yeah. If you walk into the Vatican, you're like, I'm in the Vatican, dude.
William Earl Compton III
These dudes, man. You say whatever you want.
Sherman Young
I say whatever I want. Say whatever, Trey. I'm in Rome. I'm in Rome.
William Earl Compton III
The District of Columbia, it's its own entity.
Zach Marshall
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And you're saying it's in Virginia.
Sherman Young
It's true.
Zach Marshall
It's an entity, but it might be encapsulated by Virginia.
Sherman Young
Oh, he's using Good answer in the Maryland.
Chef
No, it's neither.
Sherman Young
Let's set the record.
Chef
I was. I think I'm the only one that was right on this. It's an independent district.
William Earl Compton III
It is an independent district, but isn't it on the side of the. It's over on the other Potomac River. We're pissing. We're pissing our. Our boy.
Deke
It does cross over the Potomac, but it, like, bridges the bank of the Potomac, and there's kind of some areas that kick into the Potomac. It is more of a square than a circle, Zach. So I apologize there. But it is. There is a part of it that is on the Virginia side that you can see right here.
William Earl Compton III
So there is a Virginia side of Maryland.
Deke
I don't believe you were on the Virginia side.
Sherman Young
So. So most important part to take away from this is essentially, you were right. You were right. There's. There's a.
William Earl Compton III
There's an argument there. Yes. But, you know, for all the Northeastern people, like Ted Casper, he's. He's again pissed off. No, the way we're talking about this, he's wincing again right now.
Sherman Young
Hopefully, Stephen G20 is on our side. This was from Spotify. Please get some blue collar guys on here, but make sure that they're union workers because those guys have no filter.
William Earl Compton III
I think he's right about that, Stephen. Geek shout out. Stephen Gee, callback from last week. AC still down.
Sherman Young
Oh, perfect. In the upstairs where the kiddos are. Yeah, that's great.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Still hot and muggy upstairs. It's not good. It needs, like, it needed some part that had to be ordered and delivered. Which gets in, I think today.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Or yesterday maybe. Like, hopefully it gets fixed today. Yeah, but we've been without AC upstairs for what, a week now.
Sherman Young
Yes. And upstairs is ideal because heat rises, so the heat's already going up there anyways, and then you just. You let the heat kind of ruminate. That's perfect.
William Earl Compton III
We've been leaving Scotty in it.
Sherman Young
Oh, good. Yeah. You got a condition.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, she's forged in fire.
Sherman Young
Right now she starts crying a little bit. What are you crying? Oh, you want your binky?
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, just give her the binky. We go. No sleep sack. She's upstairs. We get the fan on her.
Sherman Young
What, you want your llama? Because I know you ain't hot.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. This is how we had to learn, Rue. She taps out, she's got to go to the guest room downstairs.
Sherman Young
Summers in Bonter, you told me they would just have you go lay out in the driveway. Yeah, oh, it's hot. Go see how hot the driveway is.
William Earl Compton III
Mom wouldn't let us put the thermostat under a certain degree. Like we had to get fans blaring all the time. Small rooms, sweating.
Sherman Young
And get the windows open. Get some air in here. Yeah, get some air in here.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Gotta keep the electric bill down.
Sherman Young
Oh, dude, that's a lot.
William Earl Compton III
A.C. still out?
Sherman Young
Good.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, it's pissed off. Everybody good. Rue doesn't want to sleep upstairs. Good.
Sherman Young
Oh, good.
William Earl Compton III
Struggles. Struggles at bedtime. Good.
Sherman Young
I will say this about Scotty. I'll brag about Scotty. She crushed it at the Clumps baby shower. Yeah, I saw you at the Clumps baby shower.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, she's a great time. And again, like, not that Rue's not a warrior. Scotty just is a warrior. Does that make sense? Yeah, the. The parents out there with a four year old, Scotty, she's an 18 month old. She's a second born. She's got more grit to her. She's got more fearlessness. Don't give a attitude to her like you. You'll get done reading her stories and she'll be. Get done getting the bottle. And once you kind of rock her and she's dozing like, I'll be putting her in the crib. Kiss her on the forehead. And you can, you can sense the moisture on her forehead as we're putting her in the crib.
Sherman Young
And Scotty isn't talking like, quite, quite yet, but she, like, she's talking and
William Earl Compton III
yeah, she's gathering some words that she
Sherman Young
pulled me aside at the baby shower. She told me a warrior doesn't need a weapon. A warrior is the weapon. Yeah, yeah, yeah, she told me that.
Deke
You know what she told me, Sharon, which is super weird, that she had that one. She said that Rue is a farmer in a war and Scotty is a warrior in a farm.
Sherman Young
So I don't know where she's getting this, bro, but like, Scotty said that?
Deke
Yeah, she said that to me at the party. I was eating a cupcake Saturday night.
Sherman Young
Night.
William Earl Compton III
Saturday night. I walked upstairs and she's sitting on the couch. I was looking everywhere in the house for. And then I just go in her room and I just see her. She's just got the lamp on, sitting in the rocking chair, she's got the book open and she just looks up and says, d, nobody's coming to save you.
Sherman Young
She said that?
William Earl Compton III
Yes, bro.
Sherman Young
God.
William Earl Compton III
She closed the book, climbed in the crib, put the binky in her mouth and went to sleep. She's like, I'll get the light.
Sherman Young
Lights.
William Earl Compton III
All right.
Sherman Young
Just get the lights on your way out, dad. Oh, man. She. Well, and also, I don't know if this is the input now.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, okay, look, Rue, on the other hand, she's our princess.
Sherman Young
Yeah, She's.
William Earl Compton III
And Rue's a stud. I'm obsessed with Rue. We're all obsessed with Rue. We love.
Sherman Young
We love Rue.
William Earl Compton III
Rue caught some.
Sherman Young
Some.
William Earl Compton III
Hand, foot, mouth. Hand, mouth, foot, hand, foot, mouth. Hey, hey, hey. Good, Good.
Sherman Young
Twice in one year.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, twice.
Sherman Young
Perfect.
William Earl Compton III
We got. We got a tip from the school that it was kind of going around. We thought Rue was all good. Then all of a sudden, Sunday comes around. She wasn't feeling well. Talks about her throat hurting. Got a couple of those little, like, red dots in her throat.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And then she just starts. It's like tantrum after tantrum. She's hard to reel in. She's just. She's tough, bro. She's a feeler. She's our emotional one.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
She's our emotional one. But hand, foot, mouth. Good again. It's like the end of the world when her feet kind of itch, and she's just like, you know, and we can't ru. We can't help you. Like, there's nothing we can do. We can put the creams on. We could do this stuff. But, bro, I had to tell her this morning when we were. We were at breakfast because we're just not on fumes. But we're just like, Rue, come on, bro. You've got to figure this out. I mean, Rue's been draining us, man. Draining us. Like last night. What's so funny?
Sherman Young
I just think it's funny that. Got to figure this out. Did you not hear Scotty? No one's coming to save you.
William Earl Compton III
Rue. Like, yesterday, obviously, we kept her home from school. Babysitter canceled.
Sherman Young
Today.
William Earl Compton III
She doesn't want to get sick. Good. That's awesome. No child care.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
So mom and I's got to figure it. Mom and I, we've been figuring it out. Rue last night, a lot of trouble. Going to sleep again, feed it. She comes up with any different reason why she doesn't want to go to bed. And this is typical in a. On a regular day, whether she wants to read more stories or just she comes up with something.
Sherman Young
Oh, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
That she has to do before she gets in bed. So this just gives her a bunch of ammo to, like, stay up and not go to bed.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
She's crying. She wants Mama Dada lay with Me all the things to where it's about 8, 30, 9 o' clock before we finally get downstairs. And then. Then she's making her way to where she's now starting to leave her room. She's figuring out she can open the do and come outside of her room, which I know is going to be. Eventually we're going to have to nip that in the ass.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
She'll come down and say, I thought mama was coming back up. And I'm sitting there on the couch like, I don't even know what the conversations are with you and mama. Mama's getting ready for bed right now. I'm sure she's going to come up if she said she was going to come up. She turns around, go back. Goes back upstairs. I just hear her start crying. And I'm just like, golly, man, we have got to figure this out, bro. Charles goes up there, calms her down. We're finally watching. We're watching a show, by the way, Secret Millionaire. Great show on Netflix right now. But we're getting ready for. Bedroom's like, too hot. Can't sleep. For the love of God. Gather all the stuff. Gather the sound machine. Gather the. You moved her down all the stuff to animals. The pillow. We put her down in the guest bedroom on the first floor.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Sleep in the big bed.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Gotta essentially do. Mom's gotta do like a whole nother bedtime routine. Laying with her. I'm doing it at first she wants like a certain. What did I have to go get yet last night? I can't even remember because I just feel so beaten down by just one after another after another with her in this stuff. Then Mom's gotta lay with her. Good. Then we're getting ready for bed. She comes in the room. We have to go back and kind of. Her mom has to, like, soothe her to get back in bed. One in the morning, bro. We finally. Oh, my God. It's like midnight. And then one in the morning rolls around. I'm. I'm like dozing off kind of in, like that where I'm starting to dream a little bit.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Starting to hit maybe a little bit of REM or that light sleep. Then all of a sudden, a white flashing light comes on and I just hear a conversation. Charles thinks something's like, what's Waffle doing right now? She turns on the light. I kind of look around. Rouge right there at the end of our bed. Who's in our room at the end of the bed? I think I'm in a Horror movie. I kind of.
Sherman Young
I'm like, the alien startled.
William Earl Compton III
She's like, she's crying because her feet and this and that, and it's just like, oh, for the love. I just look at my wife and I'm like, hey, do you mind if I just go sleep with her? Like, I'm just going to go sleep with her in that bed.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And then so we can just get some sleep. Great. Good. Good. Let's go. As I'm walking. Hey, you've got to stop crying. You've got to stop crying. It's. It's all you've done all day long.
Sherman Young
And meanwhile, Scotty's out like a light.
William Earl Compton III
Scotty's out. No. Yeah. No sleep, sex. She's in the stoner, face down, just sleeping. I'm laying in bed with ruin. I'm like, I'm trying to fall asleep. It's 1130 now, and Rue's just like, you know when you're trying to make it a point that something's wrong with you and you're not trying to fall asleep and you're trying to. Rue's trying to let me know she can't get comfortable, and she's just, like, moving her feet, like, moving around, and I just, hey, Rue, stop moving. I haven't slept. Mom and Daddy, we haven't slept yet. Like, we haven't got to just wake up, up, and we have to get up early and do all the things.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Like, I need you to lay there, stop moving so that I can go to sleep.
Sherman Young
How did that. How did that go?
William Earl Compton III
She calmly just stops talking, freezes, doesn't do that thing. I'm laying there. Now I can't go to sleep because I feel bad that I said that to her. And I'm like, I'm laying in bed. I'm like, hey, sweetheart, would you like to cuddle with dad?
Sherman Young
Dad?
William Earl Compton III
And she's like, nods her head, yes. I roll over and cuddle her. We finally go to sleep, wake up in the morning. Rue pissed the bed.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Yes, man. I'm in it. I thought I pissed the bed because I pissed the bed consistently until I was about 14 years old. So at this point, I don't even know who wet the bed.
Sherman Young
Season bed.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then, you know, morning times, a whole routine. The babysitter canceled. So it's just us trying to do all the things, figure all the things out. I can tell my wife is like, she's in it. I'm in it. We're all just in it.
Sherman Young
Ruth's throat hurts. She doesn't want to eat anything.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Everything is too spicy going down her throat like that. She's just knowing that her throat's hurting.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And, oh, but hey, like Scotty said, man, nobody's coming to say.
Sherman Young
Nobody's coming to save you. And happy Mother's Day.
William Earl Compton III
And happy Mother's Day.
Sherman Young
Happy Mother's Day.
William Earl Compton III
This.
Sherman Young
Yay.
William Earl Compton III
And dude, it's. You know, the parents out there know, like, when you're in these pockets, bro, it's just. You gotta. I mean, you gotta be like, Eli Manning, final drive 07. You do defenders hanging on your back. You got to deliver the football. Sometimes you're going to have to catch it on your head.
Sherman Young
Even when it looks like you are truly down, like, you are down and out, you are tackled. There's no escape. You gotta. Eli Manning stumble your way out of it ass first and just. Just chuck it downfield.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Because you get so in your own internal rage, though, as a parent.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And then, like, as I'm in my internal rage and I leave, I give the wife a kiss. Do you do all the things? And I'm thinking, like, all right, Charles in it as well. How can I. Like, what things am I able to do to know? Like, look, we're just in the trenches. We're just gonna have to teamwork this day. Our way out of it. Try to get Rue. And I'm just trying to tell Rue because she always does the hug kiss, three squeezes. And I'm like, hey, you know, don't kiss dad right now and wash your hands and then don't let the bugs bite. Go be great. And I'm like, hey, go be great today. Yeah, don't go be sad. Go be great. Because I had to have, like, a come to conversation. I'm like, I. I kind of. I threw up my hands and hit. And I'm like, we're trying to get her to eat her oatmeal, and she wants more bananas and the oatmeal. And she does this thing where she. Only she's the only one to eat the bananas and does. And she skips the bananas but doesn't eat the oatmeal. And she's talking about, look at this. Go after another. Good, good. And I'm like, hey, sweetheart. Like, I. Trust me, we've all been sick. We've all had rashes. We've all been itchy. It's not going away. I don't know what you want me to do. No, but nobody's Going to be able to help you right now the rest of the day. Gear up. You're going to cry all day long because this is not going away today. What you're going through is not unique. Everybody's been through it, and. And I'm having, like, this, like.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
You know, this moment with her, and I'm like, so you're gonna have to figure it out.
Sherman Young
Like, that.
William Earl Compton III
That's it. Like, I know it sucks. It's gonna suck all day long, but you can either, like, be kinder to people. Like, all this whining, it doesn't help anybody.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Mom's walking around stressed. Dad has stressed. Scotty. She just. She's just hitting herself in the head. Yesterday, like, as we're, like, relaxing and chilling and we're doing some scrub, we're doing. Scotty's just all over the place. Scotty goes to where she's just hitting Rue. She's hitting. Dad. Dad. Like, she's in this hitting phase where I can't get. We can't get her out of this hitting phase right now. And she thinks it's hilarious. Listen, parents, we don't laugh and smile while she's hitting. I know.
Sherman Young
That's, like a. No.
William Earl Compton III
No. Yeah. My wife caught me a couple times. She's like, hey, we can't. Like that. Like, eggs are on when you're, like, smiling. I'm like, dude, I can't help it. Like, look at her. She goes up and just swings. And I beg, Scotty, stop hitting. And I'm, like, not trying to look at her. And she just goes over, and Rue's, like. Like, knowing that Scotty's gonna swing on her, and I'll just grab Scotty's arm like a movie. Like, stopping some villain from swinging on the good guy. And I'm, like, grabbing her arm, like, gripping it. I'm like, scotty, we do not hit. Looking at her just like this.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And she's just looking at me, grinning and thinks it's funny, and then walks over to me to swing, and I grab her hand again. Scotty, we don't hit. We can't hit.
Sherman Young
Hey, timeout, Compton house, timeout. Yeah. What the Is going on? Yeah. What's going on, team? Timeout. Bring it in.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, we're gonna need to have one of those.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Like, for real. Like, whiteboard and all.
Sherman Young
Whistle.
William Earl Compton III
Hanging from my neck,
Sherman's Mom
bro.
William Earl Compton III
I gotta throw it with the towel hanging out off of her shorts.
Sherman Young
I gotta say of Scotty, dude, her resting face, like, her neutral face. She's got comedic timing, dude. Like, I think she knows that she's funny with those. With those looks that she does, because
William Earl Compton III
one time I grabbed and she just goes her.
Sherman Young
Her little, like, smize that she does, too, where she looks out of the corner of her eye. Like she had. There's. There's stuff going on. Like, she knows what's going on. Yeah, she crawled over. I was playing at their house or Scarlett was playing with Scotty one day over at their house. We're in their playroom, and in their playroom, the door is, like, just four steps up of this little flight of stairs, and it's just out of reach of Scotty. But, like, she can. She can get to it. And Waffle is on the other side of the door just going their bulldog. And we don't want Waffle in the playroom because she was already in the playroom and Will thought it was a little much. So Will kicks Waffle out, but Waffle's sitting there scratching. And Scotty is slowly making her way over to the door, and Will like, twice it. Hey, Scotty. Hey, come back over. What are you doing? And Scotty, just the slowest turn of all to, like, evil villain. Look at you. And smile, crawls up the stairs and gets the door. Scotty, do not open that door. And she literally, like, with her hand, like, kind of up on the door is, like, turning and looking back at Will.
William Earl Compton III
She's a villain.
Sherman Young
Hilarious.
William Earl Compton III
You'll just randomly hear, ty, give me Ty back. And you know, r breaking down. And then I just, like, turned my head. And you just see Scotty, like, sprinting through the house, like, holding Tyggy with the big smile on her face, like, God doing.
Sherman Young
Oh, that's incredible. I got. I. I have some chaos at home. Not my chaos is so quickly going to hit here next week. We're moving on the 14th. Good, good. So stay. Stay tuned for that Mover's going to do it on the day that we originally planned and that my parents are flying in for good. So we moved move in day. A day early. So I'll go ask for additional time off from Jeremy because I told him the wrong date to give me pto on. Good. That'll be fun. I am, however, very excited. I'm looking forward to the moving. I'm actually very stoked on that. The other thing that's really fun. Scarlett is becoming an absolute menace within herself. She is beginning to stand now. Now she just. She just figured out crawling, and she's kind of like, hey, I want to stip like skip this crawling step. I, I really just kind of want to walk now. So we got some bruises on our forehead because we're feeling very confident on standing by herself. I, well, I came to wake her up this way. Good, good, good. I came to wake her up this morning full on, just standing in her crib with her eyes just barely over the crib.
William Earl Compton III
Just how adorable is that?
Sherman Young
Oh, dude, unreal.
Chef
Sherm. I gotta throw in the pictures of. I told Jill, I said hey, my girlfriend really wants me to get a picture with, with Scarlett. And so I Jill like hands over Scarlett. Maybe the cutest photos ever. She started grabbing because I had the beard grown out. She started like grabbing the face and stuff. Just calm as could be.
Zach Marshall
Oh.
Chef
Like she is. Scarlett might be the most well behaved toddler I've ever seen in my life.
William Earl Compton III
She's a sweetheart.
Sherman Young
When we were at the baby shower,
William Earl Compton III
if you just give her a ball. Oh, just give her a ball. She's just ball just smiling, having a good time.
Sherman Young
She does.
William Earl Compton III
But Scotty, do you guys want to do a high five? And you know Scotty's like walking over trying to give her a high five. And Scarlett does, just doesn't know what's going on. She just keeps beating the ball. Scotty's like reaching to try and give her a high five.
Sherman Young
Scotty is like giving her like five seconds. That's it. Like figuring out within these five seconds or the high five.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. And now I'm trying to tell Scotty like scotty, she's just a baby. And then as I'm saying it I'm like, I know you're a baby too and you don't even really get what I'm saying or understand what I'm saying.
Sherman Young
Yeah, Scotty, Scotty, she's just a baby. Scotty just looks at you and goes,
Deke
is
William Earl Compton III
gentle and she'll get like close to my head and then tap it a gentle, gentle. Then she'll reach back.
Sherman Young
Ah, Wait, wait, wait. Scarlet. Scarlett is taking it easy on us. I appreciate you saying that. She is a very sweet, very sweet girl. She loves new faces. Daycare has really helped with that. That however I got our first. She didn't get in trouble. In trouble. But I got our first daycare APR report. Daycare APR report. Scarlett has been stealing passies out of her classmates mouths and then putting the passy in her own mouth and crawling away from them and smiles as she does it. She knows what she's doing.
William Earl Compton III
Hell yeah, man.
Sherman Young
Hell yeah. Great way to get hen foot mouth
William Earl Compton III
by the great way to get sick. That's where it happens in the schools. Good.
Sherman Young
So then when she's kissing me, I'm like, oh. So then I'm. I'm kissing four other infants with this one. Yes. The way that you've been stealing passies. Yeah. Then edit. Don't edit around that. Or do edit around that. You know what I mean? If they clip Sherman Kiss infants 4. Were you gonna say something?
Deke
But I do like that. She's in a teeth touching phase. She cat had her for a second. It. And Scarlet kept poking teeth. So she's just. It's a mouth phase. Maybe with the passing.
Sherman Young
It is a. It's a big mouth phase to learning
William Earl Compton III
to touch and do all this stuff. Like, Scotty loves booping. Like, that's right where Scarlet said, like, they're just fascinated with like just touching everything.
Sherman Young
Uhhuh. And she's big on the. Jill calls it the pincer. Figuring out the pincer motion of like, precisely picking things up. And so she's big on people's faces. She loves doing the pincer on your nose or on your chin and grabbing some hair right there. Yep. She's loving that.
William Earl Compton III
Developing with the food. Food. Picking up your food, bro.
Sherman Young
She destroyed some turkey and these little frozen little dad hack for you. They have these star shaped frozen pizza little dinner bites, and you microwave it for like 20 seconds. She went to town on that. Grabbing the little cuts of turkey and the little cuts of the pizza bites. Yeah.
Chef
She's.
Sherman Young
She's eating. Eating.
William Earl Compton III
That's good.
Sherman Young
I'm just sitting there watching her. I wasn't even having to do a thing.
William Earl Compton III
Savor it.
Sherman Young
I know.
William Earl Compton III
I'm telling you, man. Dinner time. That's a. That is a crack. A cold one of mine. My crack. A cold one this week brought to us by always the. The greatest of all time, Ollipop. My crack. A cold one is the peaceful sound of nothing.
Sherman Young
Oh.
William Earl Compton III
While you're at the dinner table and just hearing eating take place. That might sound disgusting to some people out there. Yeah. But Charo, she made spaghetti the other night. Kids love pasta spaghetti. The sausage that's in there, we're slicing it all up. And the kids, we sat down and they're just eating away. And it was just one of the best moments in recent memory. Just look over my wife. And I'm like, hey, how about this? She's like, yes. Nobody's arguing. Scotty's not screaming for berries. Rue's not asking questions, delaying, negotiating her way out of eating dinner. And it was that's my crack. A cold one. The peaceful sound of nothing at dinner time.
Sherman Young
I'll take another sip of this BlackBerry vanilla, which is honestly very good.
William Earl Compton III
Raspberry sherbet.
Sherman Young
Oh, come on. In accordance with your cracker coal one. I'm very lucky because my brother was four years older than me. In school wise, he was four years older as well. So I got really good at monkey see, monkey do of like, learning from someone four years ahead. You are also basically, you're the exact same age as my brother. I think he's a month older than you know. But you're four years ahead also with your kids. And I love being able to sit there and listen to you tell stories. Because in the back of my mind, dinner time is a battlefield. Like, I know that dinner time is a battlefield. So everything that we're doing right now with Scarlett is in preparation of those. Yeah, I'm not eating this. I want a cookie.
William Earl Compton III
Exactly, man. Like, because it's like Tron. I'll sit back. Like, when we have. Whether it's a curry or something that has a little bit of spice in it. Because Rue hates spicy food now. And it blows our mind because back when Rue was younger, she enjoyed anything you kind of put in front of her.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And she would just go to town on all this stuff to where we're trying to tell Rue, like, dude, you love tomatoes. You used to love tomatoes. Like, all of a sudden now you just don't like tomatoes. Or all of a sudden, you don't like curry or just a little bit of spice. If we have a Mexican Monday and we're having tacos.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And it was too spicy or this. Or like, you know, if like a. A small hint of a green onion. Anything green on something, it has to be like, picked off. They're like, bro, what are we doing?
Sherman Young
That's what I'm saying. I'm.
William Earl Compton III
Bring the team up.
Sherman Young
Yes.
William Earl Compton III
Bring the team up.
Sherman Young
Call T culty. I. But truly, I look ahead to those situations. I'm like, I need to. I need to stay locked in and. And keep the healthy habits going and keep the environment going so that when it gets to those times of my crack, a cold one, being a quiet meal where everybody's enjoying their food, that I can be locked in and ready to go for those, like the battle of dinner time. Because we read comments too from other people. This isn't just your plot life. Like kids just don't want to eat some dad wins will be like, my kid ate a slice of pizza. Yeah. Celebrating Buddy, we get it.
William Earl Compton III
Because then you learn, like, then there's like, lapses as parents where you look at, okay, how much they eat throughout the day, and then you realize they might be snacking too much to where they don't eat their meals. So then you gotta tighten up snack windows. Or just say, hey, snack is for just this time and this time only. Or it's an hour, 30 minutes, 20 minutes before dinner time. We're not eat. We're not eating anything else because you got to eat your dinner. Dinner?
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
To where? Then you gotta throw a consequence in there of like, okay, look, you. I'll just tell Rue straight up, sweetheart, you don't have to eat your dinner. But everything else you're talking about, you're too tired. Or she's just doing things to delay eating food.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
It's like, hey, sweetheart, look, you don't have to eat dinner. You don't have to eat any dinner at all. Just know that there's no snacks after. Just know there's no cookie on the other side, whatever it is. That's like her no tv. Yeah, no tv. If she's alluded to TV before dinner time, there's going to be no tv. If she's alluding to being, hey, look, we don't have to eat dinner. We can go upstairs right now and get you ready for bed. Yeah, we're not forcing you to eat dinner. We just know that this is. You're going to be cranky, you're going to be tired, you're going to be hungry eventually. And then when you are hungry, we're not going to be able to help you because we have to stand firm in knowing that, yo, if you're going to eat, you got to eat in this window.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
To get them in that routine. So you'll be, you'll be, you'll be seeing these things like, as they, as they come about whenever she doesn't start eating dinner, then it's almost like you have to audit yourself of like, okay, how many snacks have they had throughout the afternoon or leading up to dinner to where. Where I'm giving them too much leeway to argue with me at dinner time because I know I give them as many pouches or as many little snacks or what are they called? What are they called? Not, not cereal pieces. Dad. Dad brain right now.
Sherman Young
Dad brain.
William Earl Compton III
Puffs.
Sherman Young
Puffs.
William Earl Compton III
Puffs, Puffs.
Sherman Young
Little breakfast puffs.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, whatever you, Whatever parents feed, snack wise. Yeah, it's like, then you audit, you're auditing yourself to be like all Right. We gotta shut down. Yeah. To shut down the window leading up to this. Even if they're pissed off about not wanting to wait for dinner or they want the banana now or whatever it is. Yeah. Tighten up your ship.
Sherman Young
Little spoon puffs. Dude are such a dad hack. By the way, for any dads out there. Oh my God. And the little cereal puffs too. That little spoon makes Shout out. No free shout out. Also final. Final dad hack on dinner time. Something that I remembered from my childhood that Jill and I have started doing a little bit is my mom would always have a rotation of CDs that she would play when she was cooking. And the music would keep on. She would turn it down softly when we would then sit down to eat and it was like Dixie Chicks nor Jones.
William Earl Compton III
I like that.
Sherman Young
Oh yeah, dude, have the mood. Yes. And we've started doing some soft jazz. Real like you know, Alexa volume three. And sorry for any listeners if I just activated your election like with the
William Earl Compton III
dog digging the bell and their mouth starts salivating because they know it's dinner time.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Getting them in the.
Sherman Young
If you've been getting this condition.
William Earl Compton III
Their brains.
Sherman Young
Yes, dude, is something more.
William Earl Compton III
Hey, is something more important on your phone right now?
Sherman Young
Oh well, okay.
Caller/Listener
Me.
Zach Marshall
She gave me the. The exact time she wanted her massage.
Sherman Young
Okay, okay, let's go, let's go. Oh my God.
William Earl Compton III
Hit him with the coachism.
Sherman Young
I was about to say as soon as I saw Zach on the phone. I got that dad hack back to us.
Deke
Yeah, what's that?
Sherman Young
Dad hack.
Deke
Repeat it back.
William Earl Compton III
Trying to hit him with a call back conditioning our brains. I look over, I just see the bright screen going up to his face. Something more important on your phone right now. Hey buddy, you don't have to be here.
Derek's Mom
Will sm.
Sherman Young
I was like, oh no. It's like your mean teacher in high school that catches somebody chewing gum. You're just like, oh, here we go. My. My crack a cold one. I did the last spring class of first te the golf coaching which I'm going to sign up for the summer classes that are coming up here like in June. But I was part. I was put into the 12 year old group, dude. For any parents at home that have these preteens. Oh my God, it's just a whole other ball game, dude. Like we're sitting here talking about babas and binkies and nat times and hand flip mouth. We got kids saying some the wildest of all time where I'm like yo, this is the Internet age. Like these 12 year olds are built different. Like they know everything that's going on in the world. Oh yeah, okay. Deke was doing six, seven, Zach was doing six, seven, Zach. I got frame mocked by a 12 year old at this first tee. It was bad, dude. He had a junior set of clubs. And the junior set sometimes will have like two clubs on one club. So it's like an in betweener. So it'll say 2, 3 iron, 4, 5 iron, 5, 6 iron, 6, 7 iron. Okay, this kid, I'll make up a name for him. Brad was like, coach Sherman, Coach Sherman, should I hit my hybrid or my six, seven iron? And I looked at Brad and I go, brad, I think there's only one answer, dude, go. And he looks at me so disgusted and goes, coach Sherman, that's so immature, dude. And grabs the 6, 7 iron out of his bag. Does not laugh at all at my 6, 7 joke. I then overhear him with another kid like 30 yards away. And this is like way later in the day. And he goes, coach Sherman did the 6, 7 meme to me. I told him that meme's been dead for like months now.
William Earl Compton III
Oh my God,
Chef
they're brutal, Sherm.
Sherman Young
They're brutal.
Chef
Dude, I was telling you about, you're
William Earl Compton III
like in the, the, the boomer phase.
Sherman Young
Yeah, dude, I'm punk now. I'm officially hunk.
William Earl Compton III
You hit this. And he goes, oh God, he doesn't get it.
Sherman Young
No, he was like truly disgusted by it was like, coach Sherman's a really nice guy. Like he needs to know that that behavior is like, that's not good. Like what you just did is truly disgusting. Will, these 12 year olds are different.
Chef
They're mean. Dude, I did after school program and there was a very nice girl. I'll call her like Isabel one day. Was like, hey, why do you have a gap in the middle of your teeth? This is like a fourth grader. I was like, I don't know, Isabelle. Why? She was like. It was right after Halloween. She was like, belle or like some. I was like, why are you that princess and not like the cool one? And then set off like in a big motion. She started like, tear it up.
Sherman Young
Why are you a stupid princess? I got.
Chef
It hurts.
Sherman Young
They're like, why do you have still five?
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, why are you 47?
Sherman Young
Well, I'm probably going to grow to be like 65, so I'm going to be taller than you. And then you can't really say anything on that cuz it's yet to be proven. So you're like, fat chance. But dude, they Are hilarious. They're all sitting around. I'm trying to get him to see,
William Earl Compton III
though, like, yeah, yeah, he. He. He mogged you, big boy G right there. But I feels like he's putting you on game. Game.
Sherman Young
He put me on game. He put me on game because they were all doing the scuba. Like, the scuba is like the new things.
William Earl Compton III
What's the scuba cam ward?
Sherman Young
Well, there's the cam ward, but then there's scuba.
Deke
Oh, I didn't know.
Sherman Young
Yeah, that's what. And they. They go side to side with it. And then there's this other one where they're like, doing this, bro. I. I don't even know. I stayed in my lane after the failed 6, 7 attempt because then they're. They're talking about Minecraft and then this other new. And coach Sherman, do you play video games? I'm like, I have a. Because I'm trying to keep it PG with them. I don't want to be like, yeah, I'm doing pubg and Call of Duty. So I was like, oh, I do Mario Kart World with my wife on. On switch two. And they're like, oh, Mario. Yeah, Mario Kart World's. Yeah, that's cool. I'll get over with each other and probably start making fun of me for playing Mario Kart World.
William Earl Compton III
And you're just in your head the rest of the round. Driving home, looking at your in the mirror. No music on, just the sound of the road.
Sherman Young
This one, the only kid that's, like, being nice to me is like, the one kid that's not talking about all the memes and he's just talking about animal facts. He's being so sweet about it, but he's my only friend. He's like, you know the North American Robin actually eats this because blah, blah. Did you know that octopus has eight stomachs? I'm just sitting there. I'm like, yeah, dude, I think you need your wedge and not a putter. I don't know if you're on the green or not. He's like, oh, yeah, yeah. Getting his clubs. I'm just trying to keep him gone golfing.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Trying to keep him golfing while trying to be cool.
Sherman Young
While trying to be cool. I tried to jump in on another conversation they were talking about.
William Earl Compton III
It's the button.
Sherman Young
You just start going, yo, you hit that, bro. Coach Sherman, shut up. Yeah, so I'm gonna stay in my lane with the 12 year olds. Next time I'm learning is the good.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
That's the good part.
Chef
We talk about you, like, the. All the mo. Like the clav and a lot of the modern memes on Twitter. Me and Matt taught you them. Have you not. Have you not used any of that game?
Sherman Young
I did. Okay. I. For, like, the sake of the pod, like, I did have my unk moment, but there were some lanes where I,
Chef
like, cortisol, spike mention, stuff like that.
Sherman Young
You'll probably get a couple. A couple kids be like, oh, mogging. Mogging and aura were, like, talked about a lot. They were talking about out. Thankfully, Jared plays Minecraft here and, like, talks about Minecraft a lot. And I had seen the Minecraft movie, and I hit him with the chicken jockey because they were talking about the Minecraft movie, and that got a laugh.
William Earl Compton III
There you go.
Sherman Young
And then they all started making up stories of, like, different stuff that happened in the theater with the chicken jockey. And, like, all of them were, like, obviously not true, and it was hilarious.
William Earl Compton III
Next time, you just pull out, like, a little face hamper. Her face maxing or looks maxing.
Sherman Young
Just sitting off to the side of the green. Coach Sherman, what are you doing? I'm looks maxing, Douglas.
William Earl Compton III
But you guys don't have one. You guys need one.
Sherman Young
Did you forget it at home?
William Earl Compton III
That's what you kids do now.
Sherman Young
And, guys, a great tip is actually, you use your putter for this too. Butters are great for this, but that was my crack. A Cole one. I did have a lot of fun with those 12 year olds. Another great quote that we could cut around. Dad acts. You have any dad hacks?
William Earl Compton III
I'm not. Look, I got a dad win. I have a dad win on the weekend. My dad win on the weekend is getting the kids up on Sunday morning before mom woke up. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Give mom a little extra sleep, get the kids up and rolling. I gave Ru a mission on Sunday morning because the minute I came in the bedroom. Morning. Time. Time. Where's mama? Oh, no, big pet. Dad's up in your room, Mama. I'm like, hey, sweetheart. We're letting mama sleep. Like, she's still sleeping right now, but I have a mission for us. And she got. Her eyes get big, and I'm like, we're gonna let mama sleep. We're gonna sneak out of the house. We're gonna go get coffee. We're gonna get mama's favorite latte, one of mama's favorite lattes, and we're gonna bring it back home because mama said she was gonna do pancake Sunday in the morning. She's oh, yeah. And I'm like, But we gotta be quiet. Getting out of the house, ruin. Always ready. You give her a mission, she's ready to rock. We gotta, we got him dressed.
Sherman Young
Sounds good with the missions because you give her those and she locks in.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, she, she dials in.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
To the point where, you know, Scott Zilla is being Scottzilla. It might be a little loud. Like if we get downstairs and we're like, scotty, we gotta be quiet. We gotta sneak out of the house. Mom's already like up in the back of the closet. I'm like, hey, I'm trying to keep the kids away. We're gonna go out and get coffee. Bruce says something about pancakes. You can get pancakes rocking. We'll come home, keep them out for about 20 minutes.
Sherman Young
Uhhuh.
William Earl Compton III
Came back, had a great pancake Sunday morning. But dad win getting up before mom, getting the kids out of the house, allowing mom to kind of do her thing in the morning.
Sherman Young
God, I love that I have a dad loss here.
William Earl Compton III
Let's hear it.
Sherman Young
Daniel Sabaluski. Daniel Sabaluski emailed us. What's up boys? Long time PT Sicko here and wanted to share a recent dad loss. Just this past week I picked my almost two year old daughter from the babysitter after work and was on a normal drive home home. She has recently been a whiner in the car. So when it was a quiet ride home, I didn't want to question it. Nor did I want to turn around and make eye contact to remind her she was quiet and not whining. Big mistake. 10 minutes into 30 into my 30 minute drive home, I hear her lips smacking. I turn around wondering what she was doing and I found out that there was a piece of chocolate left in the cup holder of the car seat.
William Earl Compton III
Good.
Sherman Young
My sweet little angel decided not only to eat the chocolate, but it was slightly melted so it went everywhere.
William Earl Compton III
Good.
Chef
Good.
Sherman Young
Chocolate smeared all over her face and hair. Good. In every crevice of the car seat and clothes too good. Worst part was I couldn't even be mad because when I turned and saw what had happened, she just gave me the messiest, cutest smile. And when I got home, I locked in, took her right into bath time and aggressively scrubbed chocolate out of every nook and cranny. Danny. Best part is my wife, the chocolate culprit. But he's not going to blame it on the wife.
William Earl Compton III
No, can't do that.
Sherman Young
Not on a Mother's Day episode. Thought this was the best thing since sliced bread. Just Bruce to the show as all my fellow PT Sticker Sixers know too much silence can sometimes be a bad thing. Thanks, boys, for all you do and bringing all us PT Sickos together. Dan from Jersey. Oh, my God. Oh, my God, bro. That is everywhere. Jeff will throw the image up. I mean, that is. She looks like William Wallace. Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
You get home, that's Operation Chocolate.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
I feel him though, on the tantrums. Like, again, Scotty, you can't be in a car with her over 10, 15 minutes before she starts losing her mind. There's got to be something out there, like a net or something that catches. Is them throwing like, you know, Scotty will throw her llama or her or binky, like on the ground.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And so here, for example, when we're going to the baby shower at Clumps over the weekend, it was just me and Scotty. We were going divide and conquer. Rue and mom went to ballet. Me and Scotty were going out to the baby shower. We were going to rendezvous back at home. So that way then we can all go to the spring festival that Ru had going on with her classmates. But on the way to the baby shower, it's just me and Scott.
Sherman Young
Scotty.
William Earl Compton III
It was probably a 35 minute drive, 40 minute drive to get to Clumps from where I was at. And I had to pull over three different times. One time being on the side of the highway, I was under a bridge on the side of the highway because Scotty is screaming bloody murder because she wants llama. And by the time I pull over and get all this stuff, she's still like in a bad mood because again, it's a car ride over 15 minutes.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And it is she.
Sherman Young
You're in hell hard, dude.
William Earl Compton III
She hates. That's her crip body, bro.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. She loves to move. She loves to be free. She loves to be zip.
Caller/Listener
Zilla.
Sherman Young
Even if she had stuff on the window or stuff to look at like she. That most parents, I'm saying would be like, oh, does will have cutesy little stuff in the thing. Scottzilla wants to Zilla.
William Earl Compton III
Maybe I do need to give her stuff to mess with. That's over because we're just. We're no gear. You know what I mean? We're raw. We're no gear. She's got, you know, if you need a snack, you give it back to her. But when she's done with the snack or whatever, she'll throw that to the side. It's when she loses Llama.
Sherman Young
Oh, okay. I didn't know that she didn't so you're. She. She's has no gear back there right now.
William Earl Compton III
No gear. She's just got the little mirror in front of her to where she can look at that in the passenger seat.
Sherman Young
Oh, okay.
William Earl Compton III
So that's. Yeah, yeah. That. That. That could be a great dad learn right there.
Sherman Young
That could be a dad hack.
William Earl Compton III
It's like she'll throw the. The llama, her wubbing up, and it'll be stuck at the bottom, like, in between the door and the seat to where I can't reach it. There's nowhere where I can reach back and grab it and give it back to her. It's always in the hardest places. In front of her car seat, down into the seat seat on the side, like I just said, in between the door and the seat.
Sherman Young
The bat.
William Earl Compton III
She'll lose it, like, under her arm or under her back, and she just can't, you know, she, like, can't reach it.
Sherman Young
How does it get under their butt? That's like a actual thing that I'm like, I pick Scarlett up out of the seat and all the stuff that's under her butt. I'm like, how's it getting underneath? You?
William Earl Compton III
Had to drive off on a side road, park it in a driveway, get out under or on the highway underneath the bridge. Had to get out out. Pulled one where I was by a gas station, thank God. Pulled in the gas station, McDonald's, ended up getting some McD's breakfast.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Come on, man. Hey, Jill got this little fidget book for Scarlet. One of my favorite parts of your baby being in a car seat is you can only see the top of their head when you, like, turn around and look back at them if you don't have a mirror. And Jill has this little fidget book for Scarlet that she just bought, and she's very proud of it. And. And we were driving to dinner two nights ago, and we hear the book drop. And Jill goes, oh, she dropped her fidget book. She loves her fidget book. Will you get her fidget book? I go, yeah. And I pick up the fidget book. I can't see Scarlett's face, so I'm just reaching over her. I place it there, and I hear, oh. And I'm like, oh, she does love her fidget fidget book. Then all of a sudden, truly goes boom and flies across the car.
Derek's Mom
Car.
Sherman Young
And Jill was like, what was that? I just go, I don't think she
William Earl Compton III
wants your picture book because you'll be unbuckled. Like, say Charlie be driving out fully unbuckle. And I'm, like, climbing in the back, like, reaching over down into the bottom where the door and everything is.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Looking at Scotty, you have to hold this.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Quit throwing it.
William Earl Compton III
If they don't want something you like, you, like, take a peek back and you just kind of see their car seat and you see their little arm, like, throw something off the side, bro.
Sherman Young
It's so funny, dude. Dude. Not being able to see their face but see their arms just, like, throwing something unreal. Do we. Do we want to dive in? I know we're like, over an hour.
William Earl Compton III
Got to keep it under, and we
Sherman Young
have to keep it under an hour. So do we want to dive into? We could do emails and call ins here and then have a segment of
Deke
mother's day shout outs.
Sherman Young
And Mother's day shout outs. And de you tell me, do we want to save mother's day shout outs for when we're on the bus listening to our moms talking?
William Earl Compton III
Sure, that'd be smooth. Sure, be smooth. Okay, we'll do that.
Sherman Young
So we'll just do emails and call ins here, and then we're gonna move it over to the bus because, surprise, surprise, we got some moms coming on the show.
William Earl Compton III
Yes.
Sherman Young
Okay, cool. Let's dive into some call ins.
William Earl Compton III
And again, 601 the dads. You want to call in, leave a voicemail, and literally say whatever you want, vent to the boys, talk about wins, losses. So happy mother's day. It doesn't matter. Matter. Whatever your little heart desires. 601 the dads is the number you call.
Sherman Young
Hey, while we're pulling this up, we've yet to interview our interns. Do we want to do that on the bus?
William Earl Compton III
I say on the bus.
Sherman Young
Okay.
William Earl Compton III
Stay on the bus.
Sherman Young
We do have a lot of cameras on the bus and a lot of mics, so that works perfect.
Deke
That's great. I'm just thinking it went from me telling them they could be on, like, we'll bother you for 10 minutes tomorrow, to now they're on the full episode. Which I love.
Sherman Young
Which we love. I feel like they love.
Deke
And if they don't love it, they do love it.
William Earl Compton III
So I'm excited. Couple Goomb St 6ers.
Sherman Young
Hey, it's just gonna be, like, five minutes, man. I would just. These guys are professionals. They keep it.
William Earl Compton III
We wanted them to shout out at the top.
Deke
The idea was they were gonna shout out at the top and then they
William Earl Compton III
were gonna go live their lives.
Deke
They were gonna go do intern things. But also, I don't. Again, I don't really care what they say.
William Earl Compton III
They love being here.
Deke
They love, love it.
William Earl Compton III
That. That, that's on me. That's on me.
Sherman Young
No, that's on me. Cuz I did the intro. That's on us.
Deke
That's on us.
William Earl Compton III
Like I'm thinking, get them shout outs. But in my brain I'm thinking they're hanging out for the whole episode.
Deke
The goal was to make them fall in love with the show so much that they would hang out for the full episode. But it was supposed to start with intros because we know their names and we know they kind of know D.C. and that's it.
Sherman Young
This is all. This is Nick how it's fault because Nick Allett said, oh, Sherm did the intro. Will was then like, oh, Sherm do the intro. And then Sherm forgot to ask the interns about their moms.
William Earl Compton III
Are the voicemails pulled up? They're pulled up. Let's do it.
Sherman Young
This one's Texas wifey.
Caller/Listener
Shout out Mother's Day. Will and Sherm, you legends just calling in to shout out the wife. Catherine Gabriel from Fort Hood, Texas. I just wanted to give the wifey a shout out for sticking by my side through all the military BS and taking care of our beautiful seven seven month old daughter Tatum, who's just thriving and growing at a rate that I cannot even comprehend.
Sherman Young
Love listening to the podcast.
Caller/Listener
You guys make my week great.
Sherman Young
Trying to catch up.
Caller/Listener
Me and the wifey listening every night usually.
Sherman Young
Y' all take it easy.
William Earl Compton III
If that's a transcript, great shout out about. But as far as enthusiasm, it sounds like my guy's in it right now.
Sherman Young
Oh, he's at. Well, he's at. For. He's stationed at Fort Hood, so he's probably in it military wise and in it obviously as a dad as well.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Because when he threw the. The military bs, everybody, he's just. He's got a lot on his plate right now.
Sherman Young
He does. But he's taking the time to call a dad podcast.
William Earl Compton III
No doubt. I love that. Which I do love.
Sherman Young
Yeah. But I agree, the man, he's dealing with a lot.
William Earl Compton III
You can hear it.
Sherman Young
You can hear it.
William Earl Compton III
You can hear it in his voice. Yeah, but shout out Mom. Shout out Tatum.
Sherman Young
Shout out Mom.
William Earl Compton III
Happy Mother's Day. Yes, Happy Mother's Day.
Sherman Young
We also a big shout out to him as well. We said if you had a Mother's Day call in to make sure to start your voicemail with Mother's Day. He did a great job.
William Earl Compton III
He did a great job.
Sherman Young
We'll see if this next one does as well.
William Earl Compton III
Mother's Day.
Sherman Young
What's up?
Caller/Listener
PT6ers, MT6ers, ST Sixers, new listeners, all
Sherman Young
you sickos out there.
Caller/Listener
God, Stephen here, tier one from right down the road. I just want to give a huge shout out to my beautiful and amazing wife, Denny Rose. Honey, I know you're right there beside me watching this new song. You are the heart and soul to our family. You're the best, mama. You're my ride or die. You're my best friend. You're an answered prayer. May Walter and I, we love you so much and we're so thankful for all that you do for us. Happy Mother's day, baby. And P.S. hopefully this will get me a season pass on the shockwave these
William Earl Compton III
PT6 over now. What a great voicemail.
Sherman Young
You want a how to leave a. A voicemail on for the dad spod.
William Earl Compton III
And you want to earn a seasonal pass, a season pass, sitting right next to your wife as you watch this on YouTube right now on your TV trade, just smiling, grinning right now.
Sherman Young
Oh, yeah, yeah. Trey just wrote the book. That was incredibly well done, Tre.
William Earl Compton III
Just thinking, how do we get past the gratitude that you're about to give for that wonderful shout out? What is the answer for the season pass? Where we at?
Sherman Young
How good of a job did I do? I also have a Mother's Day hack and I have a video of Dalton Shields loaded up here.
Deke
The Dalton Shields video is from the crack of cold one in your notes, so we can cider whatever you want. The hack is a voicemail.
Sherman Young
Hack is a voicemail. And for some reason it's not playing. Boys, what's up?
Caller/Listener
I'm calling in with a little dad hack from Mother's Day. We're going to be real quick with it, all right? First off, for Mother's Day, if you haven't gotten the MT6 gear, you're wrong. You're wrong. I've got already got two shirts coming in. They're gonna be here on Friday before Mother's Day. I'll be back from out of town. Don't even check the mailbox. I got that. Now Mother's Day morning, make sure you follow these steps and you're gonna have a fantastic Mother's Day. Everything's gonna go right. First off, make sure all the laundry's done. Done. Nothing's ready for the weekend. No, you got nothing to do. Make sure you have the favorite meal prepared for Sunday night. Also, when you before they wake up Sunday morning, you go over to Starbucks or Duncan, whichever one they like. You get their favorite drink. You get the flowers, you get the MT6. Here you have it laid out as a nice little layout. And then and only then, you go upstairs. And how you wake them up, how the boys get a ride on shockwaves. You boys, a lot of somebody should know this. Everybody should know this, actually. You take her and you give her that admission to the wet and wild water park. And if you ride the ride correctly, everyone should get splashed. If you pick it up, what I'm putting down, then and only then will you have. They will have the best Mother's Day, and you will walk out like a king. And you, anytime you need anything, babe, remember that Mother's Day. Don't even need to bring it up. You go do whatever you want to do. Golf trip, boys trip. Go do it. Because you have succeeded on Mother's Day. Don't forget the MT6 gear. Y' all have a hell of a good one. My name is Hayden. Dad of two girls. PT Sicko out.
William Earl Compton III
That's a sicko.
Sherman Young
You go in there, everybody gets wet. You go.
William Earl Compton III
If you pick up what I'm putting
Sherman Young
down, you go in there, you go
William Earl Compton III
earn that golf trip.
Sherman Young
You.
William Earl Compton III
It
Sherman Young
absolute demon, dad. He's on demon time. Yeah, he's crushing it.
William Earl Compton III
He's ready to go. When do you leave that voicemail?
Deke
When?
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, do you know when? Have any idea? Like. Like, when do you check him? Would he have left his voicemail last week?
Sherman Young
It sounds like he 100% left it early last week because he said it's getting in on Friday.
William Earl Compton III
This dude has. He's got dates circled on the calendar.
Sherman Young
He's so dialed. We're confirming when the voicemail came in.
Deke
I know, I'm looking.
William Earl Compton III
It doesn't.
Deke
In between. And so I believe this one came in. I want to say this one came in around Thursday.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Okay, look, he's. This guy's dialed.
Sherman Young
Yeah, he's dialed.
William Earl Compton III
He's dialed. This is a guy. You see, you don't have to worry
Sherman Young
about if you haven't gotten the gear. You're wrong.
William Earl Compton III
Me,
Sherman Young
Chef, you were going to say something. What were you going to say?
Chef
Oh, I was going to say, if we had dead space again, I could feel.
Sherman Young
Do we want to kick it over to Chef?
William Earl Compton III
We got to keep it under an hour.
Sherman Young
This other AI Video I've been watching, that was one of my. That moment was incredible.
William Earl Compton III
At the Met Gala, they AI a Tennessee staffer wearing a dress that ain't no Tennessee. Tennessee volunteer.
Sherman Young
Katy Perry ain't dating no Tennessee staffer. I can promise you that.
William Earl Compton III
People kept saying Sam Smith was Josh Hypo.
Sherman Young
They did not. Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Don't look at the dress.
Sherman Young
Do not.
Chef
No, it's more like your boy Travis Kelsey is what I saw.
Sherman Young
Taylor tweeted it too. Those are five words.
William Earl Compton III
Don't talk about my coach.
Sherman Young
You'll put high P, address and Chef. Do not not put the picture Bobby Hill of Sam in that dress with Josh Hypo's face for the pod. Don't do that.
William Earl Compton III
Saw the look in Chef's eyes like he had Travis Kelsey just ammoed up like that was just gonna.
Sherman Young
That's gonna hurt him.
William Earl Compton III
My boy Travis Kelsey. That's who people thought it was. Ain't. Well, I didn't see anything about I
Sherman Young
your boy wears dress my ball coach. Don't you kidding me? That's some dude. Emails. Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Emails.
Sherman Young
Yes, emails.
William Earl Compton III
Emails.
Sherman Young
Great filler. I have Chris Venetian or Chris Vanesson. Chris says. Hey guys, I wanted to reach out and give you a big thank you for the podcast and the incredible community that you're building. As a dad of two, a three year old son and a one year old daughter, it's made a huge impact on my life. It's also helped my wife and myself as we navigate the ups and downs of raising two little ones. Growing up, my dad was an extremely hard worker who carried a lot of stress from providing for our family. He always made sure that we had what we needed, but he was often overwhelmed and couldn't always enjoy time at home. Becoming a dad has always been a dream of mine because I wanted to give my kids a better experience. I've taken my dad's work ethic with me, but I've also needed guidance, especially in understanding that the stress I feel is normal and just a part of being a dad. Your podcast has become my go to on walks with Dog and I've been listening consistently for the past six months. The stories you share and the insights you offer have helped me realize I'm not alone in these struggles. Something that was never openly talked about when I was growing up.
Sherman's Mom
Up.
Sherman Young
Because of that, I've become a better dad, husband and overall person. Lately, I've been more intentional about leaving work stress behind and being present for the small, meaningful moments. Whether that's playing with my kids, watching my son get into golf or basketball, or seeing my daughter explore the world as she crawls and starts working towards her first steps. One morning during a Solo Dad Saturday Shout Out Solo Saturdays, I woke up to chaos. My daughter had a diaper blowout overnight and my son had a stomach bug and got sick all over his room. Good. But instead of feeling overwhelmed, the only word that came to mind was good. I just embraced the moment, knowing that someday I'll look back and I'll laugh and I'll even miss days like this. After listening to the episode about the slide with your daughter Will, I ended up taking my kids to the playground the next day. My son climbed up a ladder on his own more than 20 times. Times later when my wife got there the one time she watched, he fell from the top. Instead of panicking, we paused, talk through how scary it was, and he climbed right back up on his own. It was one of those proud dad moments I'll never forget and I hope it helps build his confidence moving forward. I also want to give a huge shout out to my wife. She's the strongest and most incredible mom I know. She's always there for me and our kids. That's an amazing example and somehow keeps everything running smooth, smoothly. She does so much that often goes unnoticed, all while being my fully present with our all while being fully present with our family. I wouldn't be growing into the dad I want to be without her love and support. What y' all are building with this community is special. It's truly changing the way I parent and show up in life. I'm incredibly grateful to this podcast and I share it with my wife, my friends and my children and anyone I know who is expecting acting. You've helped normalize the realities of being a dad while reminding us what really matters. Thank you for giving me the confidence to be a dad I've always wanted to be and a dad that my kids deserve. Appreciate y'. All. Chris PT Sicko out.
William Earl Compton III
Thank you Chris.
Sherman Young
Thank you Chris. Wonderful email dude.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, great storytelling too. Yes, I have one here from Janelle Lochner Email hi guys, I wanted to share a quick story and shout out my husband Tom.
Sherman Young
Come on.
William Earl Compton III
He has just returned to work after 10 weeks of paternity leave this past fall. We welcomed our baby girl and we also have a soon to be three year old son. We don't have much family nearby here in Virginia. Our village is basically just our nanny, so adjusting to life as a family of four has been a lot. Between constant preschool sickness, a toddler who refuses to sleep in his own bed, and a very grassy and very vocal baby, we were both strug. I had gone back to work full time and Tom was home feeling pretty isolated without much of an outlet. Then something shifted toward the end of his leave, Tom started listening to your podcast while mowing the lawn and then on the train to work at the gym, even on a long drive back to New Jersey. And I realized this was the change. He found something that made him feel less alone, something that reminded him that we're not the only ones going through this chaos. And honestly, it's helped us both get through a lot of of really tough seasons. So I just want to say thank you. You've given my husband an outlet, brought some much needed laughter into our days, and helped our family more than you probably realize. We're so grateful and we'll definitely keep listening. And to my husband, thank you. You've shown up every single day with patience, love, and a sense of humor, even when we're both running on empty. You're an incredible dad and I'm so grateful to be embracing the love and suck of parenthood together with you, Janet. Now,
Sherman Young
Janelle. Janelle writing in a mom riding in on Mother's Day. That's when you know they're an MT sicko. Yeah, I got a a quick shout out if you have another email that you want to jump into. This comes from Wendy Glasgow. I wanted to read this because I told the guys before the podcast started there's a reason that the United States of America will never be invaded did on the ground. It's because of women like Wendy Glasgow. Okay, Wendy Glasgow04 says Milk Team 6 member here from southern Oklahoma, mother to a four year old big boy named Cade.
William Earl Compton III
Big boy, big boy 3 Tech.
Sherman Young
As Mother's Day is around, as Mother's Day is around the corner, I was wondering if you guys could help out the single mamas out here. Raising little boys to men in Any advice of any sorts is greatly appreciated. Absolutely. Love the show. Wendy Glasgow and other single mothers like that make the world go around. Dude, that's a superhero right there. For for any mothers that are listening, single moms. Happy Mother's Day.
William Earl Compton III
Happy Mother's Day. You got to wear a lot of different hats too.
Sherman Young
Yeah, man. And what a tall order of any advice for her for her big boy
William Earl Compton III
K. I got a quick one here by Dalton Shields. Guys, big weekend for me. My daughter Blake is four and I've been taking her to a dance every Saturday for six months. Today was the recital. It was amazing. My girl looked beautiful and she danced amazingly. Definitely got a little misty in there, if you know what I mean. The whole squad was in attendance. Mom, dad, aunts, uncles. And she shined. The peak was absolute. The peak was Absolutely. When the teachers pulled all the dads into the back room and asked us, you would do anything for your daughters. Right. Then had us put on tutus and do a performance. See the attached pick and vid. Her teachers gifted her a book which had amazing things written about the energy she brings a class and what kind of student she is. Even said she has the best hairstyles. Shout out, mom. Happy Mother's Day, mom. Made us feel like we're the. We're on the right track with raising her and was like a reward to know the little woman we are raising. And we are raising is making such an impact on people. Seeing her confidence and love for something like dance has made me so proud as a dad. I am so grateful for her, her and my family. It has been a blessing raising her. And I can't wait to for more memories and moments like these in the future. Dalton Shields from Lansdale, Pennsylvania. P S. Are we still doing BBQ sauces? If so, Rufus Teagues touch o heat. Rufus Teagues touch of heat is hands down the best sauce. Take the trash out. And here is the photo of Dalton Shields with his beautiful family rocking the tutu. Photo of his little daughter crushing it in ballet class.
Deke
Class.
Sherman Young
I also have a video of Dalton Shields Will in the ballet class. We'll. We'll pull this up on screen. I'm just turning it for Will here. It's loading. It's loading.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, he's crushing it. Look at.
Sherman Young
Come on, Dalton. Come on, Dalton. There you go, Dalton.
William Earl Compton III
Good job, Dalton.
Sherman Young
Bravo.
William Earl Compton III
We are going to now kick it over to the bus. If you have stayed with the boys this long and you're in this part of the episode, drop. Drop what? Sicko. Sicko emoji.
Sherman Young
Yeah, drop sicko emoji for quick note back to Wendy because she was asking any advice for her son. I. I would say you have all the power in the world and the choice to surround Cade with people in his life that he can look up to, including yourself, himself. Sounds like you are an absolute stud. And just surround him with incredible people and be picky people that he will want to look up to to model himself after. And I don't think you can go wrong. And Wendy, it sounds like he's off to a great start because you're his mom. You're a stud.
William Earl Compton III
Good words, man. Well said.
Sherman Young
Thank you.
William Earl Compton III
All right, we're kicking it to. You're gonna see us on the bus right after this clap.
Sherman Young

I got my wife's iPad, the Nana app is already open. And I see my little girl just standing in her crib. She's that excited to take on the day I that literally shot me out of bed. I was like, I got to go get my girl squirrel. And hey, I'm not trying to trash talk my wife. She was still asleep. She beats me to the punch nine times out of 10, chef. I'm not trying to dog my wife,
Chef
but yeah, but every Once in a while you gotta.
Sherman Young
Every once in a while, a squirrel finds a nut. And I was up in Adam first because she's not working today. And I was like, I'm gonna surprise Jelly bean. I see my little baby girl standing on the Nanit app. I run in there, I grab her and Jill's still asleep. And I just bring Scarlett in. I start doing little kisses on mama to wake her up with Scarlet. Well, maybe that's how you wake your wife up on mother's day, but have some breakfast in bed as well. Guys, the the Nanit Smart baby monitor system. It's an all in one parenting tool. William Earl Compton III
All right, back. Shout out mom's portion of the segment. Not that the other shout outs to the moms earlier. We just have videos that we have monitors and screens where we can watch these videos or which moms tuned in. Can we let the cat out the bag?
Chef
Yeah, I think this.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, you got all three moms moms, right? Yes, chef Sherm. Mom's called in with videos answering questions. I personally, I don't even know. I don't know the conversation. I don't know the question. So I'm excited to learn.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
About the mama bears talking about their boys.
Sherman Young
My mom sent hers in at one o' clock in the morning.
William Earl Compton III
Nice.
Sherman Young
Yeah, nice.
William Earl Compton III
She took it serious.
Sherman Young
Well, Deke,
Deke
I'm a shit list.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, no. It's Mother's Day week. Deke.
Sherman Young
Deke did say he does love my mom, but she was the last to submit hers. Oh, she was late. She was a little tardy, but she got him in.
William Earl Compton III
She got. Love you, mom.
Sherman Young
Love you, mom.
William Earl Compton III
Love you, Mama Sherm. First, before we get rolling, we got our interns in here. We're gonna let the boys. We're gonna give them a floor. A moment to shout out their moms.
Sherman Young
Yes.
William Earl Compton III
Shout out their moms.
Zach Marshall
Yeah. My mom is amazing. Complete badass. That would be.
William Earl Compton III
And again, just to remind. Remind everybody. Make sure you say your name, your position.
Sherman Young
Signing bonus.
William Earl Compton III
We got it. Yeah. Signing bonus. We got to remind people over and over who they're listening to.
Derek's Mom
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
Zach Marshall, tight end for University of Michigan football. I'm a senior, and, I mean, I have the best mom ever.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, no. Zach, Zach, Zach. We gotta. You gotta dive in, man. You gotta dive in.
Zach Marshall
I was. I was gonna let. Let Trey set the stage.
William Earl Compton III
Trey's gonna. Trey's gonna have his moment.
Sherman Young
Yeah. I got you.
Zach Marshall
My mom's a complete badass. She's. She's done it all. She's been a single mom. Now. Her and my dad has raised me and my. My sister. She raised my oldest sister alone and was an amazing mom to her. Has. Has done it all. So she's the spiritual head of our household. Like, real. Just has. Will do anything. Run through a wall.
William Earl Compton III
What do you think? How old are you?
Zach Marshall
I'm 20.
William Earl Compton III
You're 20. So you're still young in the game.
Zach Marshall
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
If you can think about it. What would you say? That you look back on and appreciate a lot more now that you're. I mean, you're not older, but now that you're 20 years old, that maybe pissed you off back in the day to. If you get outside yourself, you've been listening to the. For the dads pod as we've recorded all day today. Like, what's something you think that you're noticing now that you didn't notice back in the day?
Zach Marshall
Like you said, the. The bragging, the embarrassment. You sit there, you're like, ah, come on, Mom. Stop it. Stop it. Now. I look back on that, and I'm like, wow.
William Earl Compton III
She.
Advertisement Voice
She was.
Zach Marshall
She is and was so proud of me.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
She still is the. The team mom for Michigan football. Like, she's. She. She lives with me during the fall, like, so she.
William Earl Compton III
Laundry done.
Zach Marshall
We have a house in Ann Arbor so that she can live with me during the fall. And it's like, in the moment you sit there you go, oh, my gosh. There's no way. Blah, blah, blah. Now you're just like, man, so grateful.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
The gratitude. The gratitude never happens. I know There's. There's a joke. Like, you wish you're in the. You. You knew when you would be in the good old times.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
Yeah. Sometimes you wish. Like, in the. In the times when your mom's, like, embarrassing you or. Or you just like, oh, my gosh, you're too much sometimes.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
Those are the moments you remember.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
I mean, I remember. I mean, she's my best friend. Like, I. I can. I can genuinely say that my mom's, like, my closest friend. Like, text her every day, call her every day. I know she was texting during the. The pod earlier, and you got on me, so. But I'm always taking my mom over the four. The boys.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, there you go.
Zach Marshall
For.
William Earl Compton III
For the dads.
Zach Marshall
For the dads. I mean, he could be both. I mean, the young. The young ones who aren't dads yet. It's still for the boys, but. Yeah, my mom's.
Sherman Young
I feel you, though.
William Earl Compton III
You get frustrated in those moments where they're just, you know, whether they're around the boys and they're bringing up memories or moments, or you're like, God, please just shut up.
Sherman Young
Yes.
William Earl Compton III
But now, you know, it's. Dude, appreciate him as much because it's. Dude, it does more. Like, they are just so proud. Like, I'm gonna be that dad. Like, you're gonna have a kid one day, and you're just gonna. That's when things are just gonna click. Like, you just kind of get the stuff that your parents used to do.
Zach Marshall
You're just so proud of the. So. The. So little. It's like you in the moment, you're like, oh, it wasn't a big deal to you.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
But it is to them.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
Like, the steps that you take, whether it's as a. As a young. Like you say, the. The preteens are crazy. Those preteens. Yeah.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
I mean, you see your. Your kid go from being, like, a preteen to, like a real. A real man, and they're like, I can only imagine what it is from their view.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Yeah.
Zach Marshall
Because in your. In your life, it's like, dude, it's whatever. It's just my life. It's just. What's happening happened. I just changed a couple ideas.
William Earl Compton III
I. Yeah, mom, it's not that big of a deal.
Zach Marshall
Not that big of a deal. Really. It is. It's everything to see I mean, I can't say it from experience obviously, but probably seeing your kid become the person that everyone's parents want them to be. Better than what they were at that age or better than them.

William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
And I know that's probably exactly what you have for Scottzilla and and Row like yeah. To have your kids become better than you.
William Earl Compton III
And they're always going to see you the way we see scarf, Scarlet, Bruce, Godzilla 100. Like your little toddler version is how they're just always going to see you.
Sherman Young
Oh, dude. I was about to say, I know nothing about either one of yalls moms, but the only thing I do know is how much truly they love you. Just from the little experience I have of every single diaper change, every single teaching on how to crawl, teaching you how to walk, making sure you have enough food in your belly, like trying
William Earl Compton III
to get you to stop whining.
Sherman Young
Oh, dude, your. Your moms just love you, dude. They do. Oh, they do.
William Earl Compton III
Trey.
Sherman Young
Oh yeah.
Trey Pierce
I'm Trey Pierce, defensive tackle, University of Michigan. Shout out to my mom. My mom has been like, I think growing up, you don't realize it, but she's orchestrated my life and set my life up in a way to where if I failed, it would have. It have been because of me. She's. She's done everything for me. Like I. And I grew up and now I think the thing I'm realizing now is that I. I'm even more impressed with how my parents kind of raised me because like I'm kind of. I'm going into that adult phase and I couldn't imagine taking care of somebody else right now. Like, and I was in. My mom was going to school and she. I was like in kindergarten and stuff like that. So I'm doing my work, I'm doing football and I'm doing this. She was doing that and she was raising a child. So I'm just like. Shout out. Shout out Kelly.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Shout out. Yeah.
Trey Pierce
You know, growing up, I just think my mom was kind of lame.
William Earl Compton III
Like we all do. It's like this. It's kind of natural.
Trey Pierce
Yeah. She. I was like, but now I'm in college. Now I'm just like talking to my mom, but I'm not living with her. Like, you know what? I'll go out. I'll go get a drink with my mom, you know.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Trey Pierce
My mom, you know, still haven't done that, but I would do it.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Shout out Kelly.
Trey Pierce
I love you, mom.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, dude. Fellas, that's awesome. Love to hear that stuff.
Sherman Young
I loved that. That was so fun, dude. And they did. I know I'm saying it again, but their, their moms love them. Their moms love them. We are very, very lucky to have people in our lives that are spending all those little moments. It's. It's the unseen moments. It's the moments that I can't even remember about my mom. That you can't remember about your mom. That they were doing the right thing, taking care of you, making sure you have the. Every single thing was set up for success. It's unreal, dude.
William Earl Compton III
And you also, you just, we know because we're going through it right now, but you realize how hard like parenting and all of it, marriage, parenting, teamwork, all that stuff is when you're also doing, doing when you're also chasing the things that you want to chase and know that there is no. It's like I was listening to Ryan Nolan talk about how he crushed a four hour nap on Saturday or Sunday and I sit back, I'm like, my God, there's just, I do miss those times.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
You're like, okay, I had a, you know, long Friday night or a Saturday and you get to kind of veg out. You have pockets of veg out. And there's just, there's not that, that anymore because you have to like, all of your attention has to be on things at home that also juggle and balance around everything you want to chase in your careers and your ambitions and knowing that there's like a sacrifice that does take place that you can't necessarily articulate or like quantify.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Until you're like, until you're basically just in it.
Sherman Young
Yes. And that was the only part that I can truly speak to because I don't have an 8 year old, a 12 year old, a grown ass man, a grown ass daughter. I'm so new to it. But like there is the, just like every moment counts. I feel like in parenting every little moment counts and somebody had to make sure that every single one of those moments counted. For you guys to be able to take advantage of those moments and be where you are right here today in
William Earl Compton III
the, the mental load we always talk about with moms or with parents where there's a mental load taking place. Like as they're growing up to where, where we're going to do it, we all do it with our kids. Like you're thinking about their future. They might think they're thinking about their future. But as parents, you were like, I'm viewing it in a way that's different than the, the six, seven, all the stuff that you guys are dancing around with right now in a different way that's like, you know, this is longer term thinking that they try to like invest in you and pour into you and imprint on you. So that way they're hopeful that you think about it as much as them. Yeah. But more than your kid can really understand or realize.
Sherman Young
100%.
William Earl Compton III
Boys, that was great. You guys can go hang. You guys can go do your thing.
Sherman Young
The end.
William Earl Compton III
I don't know what. What's in store for you guys today, intern?
Sherman Young
Oh, Demon's got something cooked up, I'm sure.
Chef's Mom
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Zach Marshall
More coffee orders. More, you know, more interning.
Chef's Mom
Right?
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, more interning.
Zach Marshall
That's the point. Trash needs to be taken out.
Sherman Young
Yes, sir.
William Earl Compton III
Take out the trash.
Sherman Young
Take out the trash.
Zach Marshall
Luckily, there's no lawn here. I mean, you guys would have us cutting it with scissors.
William Earl Compton III
Even just a little patch we have by the mailbox. Hey, let's find a Z. Turn out there like Zach, Trey. Thank you guys.
Sherman Young
Thank you guys. Well done.
William Earl Compton III
Well, good work, fellas. What's your mom's name?
Zach Marshall
Eva.
William Earl Compton III
Eva. Eva.
Zach Marshall
Eva Marshall.
William Earl Compton III
Eva Marshall.
Zach Marshall
If you want to try Evangelina, it's her real name.
William Earl Compton III
We'll go with Eva. Yeah. Eva Kelly, we love you. Shout out to you guys. Happy Mother's Day Day to you both. We have some Mother's Day shout outs here. Before we get into the videos, I got one here from Scott Freund. I just want to give a shout out to my amazing wife, Megan. This is her first Mother's Day after having a 49 hour labor with her awesome little dude Sawyer back in October. Megan is an amazing stay at home mom and keeps everything running seamlessly in our home. She became an empty sicko not long after having our boy and fully embodies the good mentality. She handles nighttime waking up, makeups, pumping diapers, and a million other things and doesn't complain about it at all. She makes my fatherhood experience so much more enjoyable and I couldn't imagine my or Sawyer's life without her. Megan, I love you more than you'll ever know. Thank you for all that you do. And Happy Mother's Day. Love Scott and and Sawyer. Megan. Happy Mother's Day.
Sherman Young
Happy Mother's Day, Megan. I have one from Dylan Metcalf. Dylan says, what's up fellas? Not sure who reads this. These shout out Chef and Deke, but hoping that you guys can help me with a wifey shout out. My wife Bessie Rose and I welcomed our first child, a baby girl named Campbell, this past December. As of last week, May 1 wifey is back to work and our girl is off to daycare a a few days a week. Everyone goes through it, but this transition marks the start of a huge new chapter in our lives. Bessie Rose has been a rock for our Family. Family adapting to motherhood and being the type of mother that we all dream our MT6ers will be when the day comes. All that said, I was hoping you can give her this shout out. Bessie Rose, I'm in awe of the way that you have navigated life from the day that we found out you were pregnant through this very moment. You embrace pregnancy with grace and crush delivery with courage, confidence, and strength. Your selflessness and dedication to our family is inspiring and the glow of mother motherhood has never looked better than it does on you. Campbell is lucky to have you as her mom and I cannot wait to watch her learn from the amazing example that you are setting for her. It goes without saying, but returning to work and spending time away from Bug isn't easy. However, you are once again proving that the way you do anything is the way you do everything. With unrelenting tenacity. I love you and I am so, so proud and inspired by you. You, Dylan.
William Earl Compton III
That is beautiful.
Sherman Young
And here is Dylan and Bessie.
William Earl Compton III
Ribs, Bessie. Happy Mother's Day.
Sherman Young
Happy Mother's Day, dude. That's so electric.
William Earl Compton III
That is great photo too. Great backdrop. Oh, I got one here from Dakota Pate. Sorry for the long email. Dakota. Do not apologize. Fully aware I'm sending this. Probably too late for Mother's Day spoiler alert. You're not. But I made sure to get her Mother's Day merch that will arrive on Monday. Mother's Day Sup, boys? Dakota from Paulding County, Georgia. My wife Chelsea and I found the boys a few years ago laid up on. Laid up in the bed sick from COVID and have been a tier one ever since. She's an absolute rock star. Truly the engine that keeps our household moving. Without her, my son Judd, I would be an absolute mess. We got married October 18, 2025. But she's been the love of my life since day one. Since the day I met her way back in 2014. Thank you guys so much for the pod and everything. Y' all do love you guys. I. I'mma. I'mma attach some pictures from our wedding day. P.S. proud dad moment. My son Judd is 65 pounds, 44 inches tall, 3 years old, who was built specifically for the AAP. 65 pounds is a BE.
Sherman Young
He's a pumpkin of a 3 year old. He's a pumpkin. There.
William Earl Compton III
There they are.
Sherman Young
Oh my gosh. Oh, look at him.
Deke
Dude.
William Earl Compton III
Rue's like low 40s pounds wise. She's four. She's in like 90, 95th percentile in height. Yeah. Average weight.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
But knowing that this three year old is pushing 65
Sherman Young
and look at him tossing out the flowers, dude.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, Just being a little flower boy. R's got her flower girl debut this weekend for my brother Cody's wedding.
Sherman Young
Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Congratulations to Cody.
William Earl Compton III
Yes, thank you. Thank you.
Sherman Young
That's huge.
William Earl Compton III
I'll say thank you for him.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
But that'll be fun. But what a tank dude built for the. That's a three technique in the making.
Sherman Young
Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I do have one last Mother's Day shout out. This comes from Garrett Youth of Garrett Youth of in Garrett says Big G here reporting from the North Missouri PT6PT sicko division. I want to give my wife Chelsea a huge Mother's Day shout out for being an incredible mom to our two year old, Charlie. She turns three in August. Chelsea has stayed at home with Char since she was born and has helped shape her into the sweetest, cutest, smartest little girl that I've ever been around. Chelsea has helped her learn to regulate her emotions and help around the house. I try to tell her all the time how great of a job she's doing raising our daughter. I'm so impressed and so thankful for all the work she does, all while taking care of her own needs at the same time.
Trey Pierce
Time.
Sherman Young
It's amazing to be able to go to work every day and know I've got such a smart, strong woman as my wife, helping shape our daughter into an incredible girl. I'm so proud of both of them. PT Sicko out. Let's go, Garrett.
William Earl Compton III
Let's go, G. Should we get into the videos?
Sherman Young
Let's go do now.
William Earl Compton III
How do we roll these out? We're just. We watch the video.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Deke
I think the dream way to work it is that you guys will watch the video and you can react and, you know, say pause. I won't have headphones on. Chef will help me out with it. But the video will play on screen. We can put you guys below it or something of that fashion. I'm not going to speak for the editor, but watch it, enjoy it, commentate about it after. There's all three of our moms answering 10 questions that we send them.
William Earl Compton III
Okay, let's go.
Sherman Young
You
Deke
sure?
Chef
Do you guys hear that?
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Yep.
Sherman's Mom
Okay.
Sherman Young
Question number one. Did your son ever show early signs that he didn't have on a podcast or in front of an audience someday?
Chef's Mom
Well, I think so. You love to talk. At an early age, you talked all the time, very verbal. And then as you got older, you love to watch movies. And you would just sit and watch like three hour movies and could sit through the whole process and loved it, so. Absolutely. But you love to talk. I remember that you were very verbal. You loved books and you loved movies, so.
Sherman Young
Yeah, sounds about right.
William Earl Compton III
Sounds about right.
Derek's Mom
I didn't know what a podcast was, but Derek loved being on stage at a young age. He loved acting, singing, and entertaining from the time he started talking. My first experience with the podcast was Derek's podcast, Thoughts from the Bench. I was impressed with his creativity and how from the show was. Was obvious. He and the guys had a great deal of joy from doing the show.
Sherman's Mom
Yes, absolutely. Yes. Sherman was an entertainer from the very beginning. And even his birth was like 1am out of the Coen brothers films. And he was in every play and every production and improv and high school. He wrote, directed a movie that was shot at our home. Home, which was basically like a film studio. Everything in his life has been creative.
William Earl Compton III
Pause.
Chef
That's. That's question number one.
William Earl Compton III
Question number one. I thought your mom's guys did a phenomenal job breaking you guys down. Yeah, I. I like if it was just me sitting with your guys, moms asking this first question and they were just answering to me, I feel like every answer that they had, I feel like, like articulate you guys, like in that fashion.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
Like you would starting off with Chef. Just a talker. Like, you get caught in a corner with Chef, you talking Tennessee balls filling the space. It's spot on.
Sherman Young
Oh, dude.
William Earl Compton III
To where? To where? As you continue to talk, there's a smile that comes on my face because I just now know that it's happening. And I know it's you with. With de. Like creativity, the way that you are able. I've used the word articulate a lot already, but the way like Derek is able to articulate, whether in like a. A blog, writing, talking about film. When we were in Pittsburgh and you're taking us around, what was the area called where you were showing us? Hey, this is where I did the podcast. This is where we do this, you know? Yeah, you're talking about Monday through Friday, like your grind each day of the week. I feel like your mom was able to like, encapsulate that to where again, if I'm just sitting with your mom, Mom. It's like this warm smiles on my face because I'm like, yeah, like, this has been you guys, like, from the jump. Like, you having a film studio and your creativity and production and wanting to be in film and being in front of cameras. And being part of the play, I feel like that is Sherman young. Like, I am not surprised to hear these things from your mom, like, at a young age, dude.
Sherman Young
The also the added note of Chef's setup of, like, him being at. Were you there for the recording of that?
Chef
So I did the interview.
Sherman Young
I love that so much, dude. His mom is so cute and sweet the whole video.
Chef
Lisa was slightly nervous for it, which, like, I guess we're all numb to, like, the fact that we were on a podcast, talk to people. I had to remind myself, like, hey, this is going to go out in front of a lot of people. So I was like, hey, I'll walk you through it. We'll do it together. I'm excited for you guys to see some of the other.
Sherman Young
I am, too. Okay, let's go.
William Earl Compton III
Question number number two.
Derek's Mom
What's the most trouble he ever got into as a kid? And did he think he got away with it as a preschooler? Derek and his best friend called 911 from a Kmart pay fund. They thought as long as they didn't put money in it, it wouldn't call. Needless to say, the police showed up and taught them a lesson.
Sherman Young
There's a few.
Chef's Mom
Let's see which one I can. Oh, gosh. I think the teenager. I think the most trouble you got as a teenager that I recall, is when we had to take your little brother to a soccer tournament. You were in high school. We let you stay by yourself for the very first time. And I said, under no certain circumstances, you're allowed to have your buddies over. No parties, no risky business. I don't know if you remember this, but you were probably 16, maybe 15. I don't think I could drive 16. And we let you stay, and we said, your grandma's gonna check on you. The neighbors are gonna. They'll know if you have people over. And you're like, I got it, Mom. No, no, my friends aren't gonna come over. And then we came home that Sunday, walked in the garage. Garage. And, like, our shoes were sticking to the garage. I'm like, oh, he totally had people over. So you got busted.
William Earl Compton III
Some beer pong went down in that garage.
Sherman's Mom
The most trouble that Sherman ever got into with me was that he made A, A, B, C, D, and F one semester in college. And I took. Told him he had to come home and work construction and that. He said, well, you know, that's a C average, right? I mean, people don't send their kid home for C average. And I was like, yeah, I know. You're coming home. So he did. And several of my friends, you know,
William Earl Compton III
that's a C average.
Sherman's Mom
Never go back to college. And I was like, no, he's going back to college. He's going to get a college degree, but he's going to come home and work and appreciate it. And so he did. And it ended up being like one of the most wonderful experience and all the people he worked with. It was really, really a cool experience.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, that was all three. Yeah, that's all three. The, the, the routine in my head. A and an F. And you're saying the C average.
Sherman Young
But also it was a. It was a 0.8 average. So that's just a bold face lie of saying it was a C average. I was trying to pull one over on my mom.
William Earl Compton III
How brutal was the construction?
Sherman Young
I mean, it was very hard because the. My dad's friend owned a remodeling business. Basically said, hey, my wife is wanting to put my son in construction. I know you own this remodeling business, blah, blah. He was like, I got a crew, I could put them on tomorrow. And my dad basically told him, kick his ass. Like fully kick his ass. And my very, my very first day, the Keith Horton who has since passed. But I truly. Keith Horton is like up there with my dad and some other men that I like highly regard of like huge life lessons learned.
Deke
Learned.
Sherman Young
Shakes my hand when I show up, gives me this whole rundown which I find out later is complete of about something in the yard that they got to redo.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Sherman Young
And he says, I need you to dig up this entire trench. And we're talking like 30ft of like at least 7ft into the ground. I need you to dig it all up. It took me two days to do that. And once I was done, Keith was like, egg homeowners, they change their mind. So we actually, we need all that back. Back in that trench of kind of like letting me know, like, hey, you ain't. This ain't summer camp. Like, welcome. Welcome to the. Yeah, we just gave you a job that didn't even exist to like really kick your. Oh, dude. And it was like that for the first three weeks. And then once I like, was showing them a attitude of like, hey, I'm not going to quit. I'm happy to be here and I'm going to have a good attitude about it and stuff. Stuff. They quickly started putting me on more and more jobs and giving me more and more like actual responsibility. And it ended up being so sick. And it made me appreciate College that much more. Like, I. I went back, I didn't make below B average after construction. GPA was already screwed from the 0.8 that I brought home. But.
William Earl Compton III
But the lesson was good, lesson was learned, lesson was awesome.
Sherman Young
And that all came from Miss Amy. She was like, my dad was trying to think of some kind of way to kind of of, you know, teach me a lesson, but blah, blah. Ms. Amy was like, you pull his ass out of school right now. He's not getting away with this and that. Thank you, Mom.
William Earl Compton III
Dude, shout out your mom. Yeah, shout out your mom. I remember one time I was like in fifth or sixth grade and I. What do they call progress reports? Like the midterm report card, whatever it was. Yeah. This was like a progress report. So not the full report card.
Sherman Young
Yes.
William Earl Compton III
And I had gotten. Gotten, I believe, a D in AR reading. So in AR reading, you would have to read, you know, books around, like your. Whatever grade level you were at.
Sherman Young
Yep.
William Earl Compton III
And then you, after you read the AR book, you would go and take an AR test.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
And if you tested well, like, you pass whatever it is, get over a 7 out of 10 or something like that. And I was doing very poorly in ARA because I hated reading growing up. Like, I was not a big reader. I hated English, I hated reading. And I remember being in the middle of a football practice practice, played for the Panthers, but my mom came in the middle during football practice and pulled me from practice and then told my coach and made sure to say it in front of me, if he's going to fail in school, like, he's not going to play football. Because I know he love. Like, I know he loves football. I know this is what he has the most fun doing.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
If he doesn't make good grades, like, he's not going to play football. And she took my ass home and I wasn't going. And basically it's like, if you don't get your shit turned around or go to your teacher and ask questions about how you can lift it up knowing that it was a progress report.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
That I. We're. You're. Listen, you're not playing football if you're not going to take school serious, you're not going to take this other stuff serious.
Sherman Young
God, dude.
William Earl Compton III
So it's like those little lessons, like, I. I enjoy hearing that.
Sherman Young
It's going to be hard for us to do that one day.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Sherman Young
You know what I mean? Like, I, I think about that with Scarlet already. I'm like, I have to keep that mentality, though, dude. My mom did not budge on punishments once it came out of her mouth. That was God. Might as well had some said it. Yeah, God might as well have said it, cuz that that's what was going to happen.
William Earl Compton III
The 911 call is so funny.
Deke
I remember it vividly because it was my childhood buddy and we were at a Kmart and our moms were in there. I forget why, but they were taking forever. And so we were dialing like fake numbers on the pay phone because you obviously got to put money in it. And I was so young that I used. I was still going to like, Safety Town at this point.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Deke
And so I called in. We would just be like, oh, my gosh, Godzilla is attacking this Kmart and hanging up. And then cops came and they're like, is there an emergency? And I was like, no. Like, no. My mom's like, oh, officer, like d d and told him and the cops like, we could take you to jail, kid. And like, obviously hammed it up for
William Earl Compton III
none of that bothered me. Take you to jail, kid.
Deke
The next year at Safety Town, which I used to go, and you learn about crossing the street and like, they have these little cars you can pedal and these bike. Like, it was so much fun.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Deke
I had to sit there and explain to the whole class the safety. The terribleness of what I've done, basically.
Sherman Young
Oh.
Deke
And so I had to explain to the whole class that I called 911 and they can come. And I basically said to the class, you don't got to put money in those phones. They work. Like, those phones work and do not put money on them. You can call whatever you want to call and call the cars. And I was like, I left it being like, that's not exactly the message I wanted to say.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Deke
Young at that point.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
That's so I remember pulling a prank on my mom. I saw a cop, like, driving by by or we were around a cop, like when we were driving home. And I remember pulling a prank of like, I was like leaning out the window and I was like, help.
Sherman Young
No.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, no.
Sherman Young
Well, yeah, A prank on your mom that gets you taken away.
William Earl Compton III
And so we get pulled over, whatever. Like, my mom was hitting me. But I'm joking. Like, I'm joking.
Sherman Young
Once the cop came, you were still gone.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
Well.
William Earl Compton III
And like, the cop was. Was aware of what was going on. And, you know, my mom was like, trying to handle it. And like, you know, when the cop. When the cop left, she's, you know, giving me A very stern talking to about, like, not joking that way. And I didn't like. I'm just trying to be like, funny.
Sherman Young
How old are you?
William Earl Compton III
Probably like 10 or 11. Too young.
Sherman Young
Just young. Hey, don't sleep on the fact that Chef had the boys over for a little. For a little booze hour in the.
William Earl Compton III
Yes, bro.
Chef
It was full Risky business the next day. And I was like, I'm so. I knew it too.
William Earl Compton III
It took.
Chef
It took mom and dad maybe 20 minutes before my dad was like, I know, I know what happened here. I got in a shitload of trouble for that.
Sherman Young
How many guys do you have over?
Chef
I think it was like 10, 12 people.
Sherman Young
That's a pretty good party.
William Earl Compton III
It is a pretty good party.
Sherman Young
That's a pretty good party.
William Earl Compton III
So funny that we all have those stories like that. Cody was at a wrestling tournament and I threw a party back home because I was wrestling Jason JV at the time. Like, I was doing JV first because it was like the year where I was either grounded or I had to wrestle.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
So first tournament, varsity's going. Varsity. They're gonna like, make a example. Like, I have to earn my way to VARs to be on the varsity roster. So I had to be on the bus the next morning at like 5 or 6am to do like this 3 hour bus ride to Jeff City. Oh, God. And I threw a party at the house where I had like 10, 12 people over. And, man, we got so hammered, bro.
Sherman Young
Oh, God.
William Earl Compton III
To where, like, somebody gets like, taken home. They're like puking in the side. They're like dropping me off at the thing, and I'm just hung over and I'm just hoping that my boys. Logan, John.
Sherman Young
They have to clean up your house.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, cleaning up my house. Making sure stuff's in order. Well, my. My parents come home and there's like a. We were. This is when 40 year old virgin was hot. And so somebody had a condom like, on their hand doing like, I am Aquaman. And it was just out. And that's what got us.
Sherman Young
Logan, what are we doing?
William Earl Compton III
That's what got us. When I got back from that JV wrestling tournament, by the way, I won the wrestling tournament. Didn't get scored on at the JV wrestling tournament, but come back and then, like, we're getting. You know, they'll sit down, you know. Yeah.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
William Earl Compton III
It was not good. It was not good. It was not good. In another prank, like the 911, a car was going to pull out. We were at a stop sign. I was like, mom, look out. And she like slams on the brakes and there was no car. I was like, I'm just kidding, dude. She. I was like, mom, look out. And then I started laughing like, oh, there's no car. She reaches backhands me, bro. Back hands. I'm bleeding my mouth.
Zach Marshall
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
William Earl Compton III
You know, because I. Dude, I was, I'm.
Sherman Young
I'm.
William Earl Compton III
I was like a little. It's like a little menace in my own right.
Sherman Young
Yeah. I'm shocked that my mom also didn't tell this story because this is the most match he's ever been at me. One of my little movies that I was doing was a Russian terrorist film where we had. I got my three friends that were the only three friends with black like SUVs, and we had people standing out of windows and stuff on this back road in Alito, Texas. And a train is coming because there's a train tracks that go through the city of Alito. And I tell everybody we have speakerphones going through all three vehicles and I'm directing it from the front vehicle and I'm shooting the whole thing. And I say, production value. We got a train coming. You guys act like you're shooting at the train. Union Pacific gets on the phone because the guy driving the train calls it in because all he sees is guys in ski masks with huge fake airsoft guns that we spray painted, like assault type weapons. And we're driving this way, trains coming this way. And they're going to the train. So that guy's probably like, what the. And bro and F. I didn't even know they existed. A F550 and it's just a massive pickup truck with train wheels there inside of the street. Wheels so it can drive on the tracks. Is flying down the railroad with lights on because we stopped there and we're like shooting something. Like eight police cars end up coming. Dude, it was a whole thing. I do not know how we didn't go to jail. I truly don't. But we had the camera and we were like, we're shooting this movie, blah, blah, blah. But my mom, mom, I wasn't allowed to do anything for like three months. Like I was grounded. Grounded for three months. Oh.
Deke
Saying it's an indie film had to be so embarrassingly there. There's this train robbery coming and the cops get there. You with an indie film script.
Sherman Young
Just a bunch of 16 and 17 year olds. Crazy.
William Earl Compton III
Shout out moms question. Shout out moms question three. I set the 20 minute timer that was just going off.
Sherman Young
Oh, God.
William Earl Compton III
Two questions.
Deke
Optimistic.
Sherman Young
Oh, God.
William Earl Compton III
Time out. Go. The. We can't. We can't. No audio. Are you saying the question?
Sherman Young
No.
Sherman's Mom
What was a moment raising him that you did not appreciate at the time? It's his tragic flaw. Sherman is a mess and it was not funny then and it's not funny now. And you can ask Jill and she will back me up on this. It's bad.
Derek's Mom
We had an old recliner with a broken armrest that the end could be removed. Inside, there was a very large.
William Earl Compton III
Can we go back? Let's just start the whole clip over because it's like, delayed.
Sherman's Mom
What was a moment raising him that you did not appreciate at the time?

Sherman's Mom
It's his tragic flaw. Sherman is a mess and it was not funny then. And it's not funny now. And you can ask Jill, and she will back me up on this. It's bad.
Derek's Mom
We had an old recliner with a broken armrest that the end could be removed. Inside, there was a very large nail that stuck straight out if you pulled off the end of the arm. One day, Derek's brother Nico made him mad, and he grabbed that arm with the large nail sticking out and ran through the house after his brother. Luckily, we were able to stop him before he inflicted an injury.
Chef's Mom
I think when I look back, when you were young, younger, you were very inquisitive. You were. You talked a lot of questions.
Zach Marshall
All right.
Chef's Mom
It was good. And you could have been a little stubborn and bullheaded because you like to debate with people. That's probably. That's probably a good thing. That's a good thing.
Sherman Young
Will's gonna laugh at that one.
Chef's Mom
Stubborn and bullheaded.
Sherman Young
You're a little stubborn and bullheaded.
Chef's Mom
You get that from your Uncle John.
William Earl Compton III
Get that from.
Sherman Young
You get that from your Uncle John.
William Earl Compton III
You're stubborn and bullheaded. You get that from your Uncle John.
Sherman Young
I believe you talked a lot. All right.
William Earl Compton III
I think that was a good thing. Was going to laugh at that. Stubborn and bullheaded. You're going to get. You get that from your Uncle John.
Sherman Young
Oh, my God.
Chef
I do get that from Uncle John.
William Earl Compton III
He. We know. We heard. Hey, we heard.
Sherman Young
Oh, it's Big ten. Sorry. That made me laugh so hard, I farted, and it does not smell good. God, that was funny. Should we. Should we just. Do you swallow it?
William Earl Compton III
No.
Sherman Young
Okay, good. Do we want to just keep on ripping through?
William Earl Compton III
Let's rip through. Let's just rip through.
Deke
Anyone?
Sherman Young
He didn't hurt anyone.
William Earl Compton III
Didn't hurt anyone. You were. You were looking to my dad's like Michael Myers running around with a nail.
Deke
I was chasing my brother with the nail arm, and he just goes, Mara. And she was following third behind.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, my God.
Sherman Young
What's something he did as a little
William Earl Compton III
kid that he'd probably be embarrassed to
Sherman Young
hear you talk about on a podcast?
Sherman's Mom
Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy.
Chef's Mom
Oh, gosh. As a little boy. Embarrassed.
Sherman Young
Oh.
Chef's Mom
The one thing that comes to my mind is when we were at Mass on Sunday, we all went to Mass. Grant was a baby. Baby. We had just moved back from Dallas, so you were probably three and you were three and a half. It was before you turned four. We're in Mass. You were a little rambunctious. Your dad took you outside. And the way that Our lady of the Lake do you. I don't know if you remember this, but the wind, there's just glass windows and the priest can see out and apparently your dad turned around for just a few seconds. Seconds. You had to go to the bathroom and didn't tell your dad and you started to pee in the flower bed and well, the priest could see you. That was mortifying. We were a little mortified of that.
William Earl Compton III
That's a good funny one. Yeah, it's a good funny one.
Derek's Mom
It is literally impossible to embarrass them. Derek, he won't be embarrassed at all by this. But once Derek and Nico were playing with the two little girls across the street when they all were preschool aged and they all pulled their pants down around their ankles and peed in the yard together.
William Earl Compton III
Nice.
Sherman Young
My mom skipped this one, by the way. I don't know if that was intentional or not.
William Earl Compton III
Who knows, man?
Sherman Young
I know.
William Earl Compton III
I mean, at least you guys have some fun pee stories. Like if my mom was talking, she'd just soil me on how I wet the bed. Like very consistent consistently into my teenage years.
Sherman Young
I, I've told you that was a big bed wetter as well, right?
William Earl Compton III
How big?
Sherman Young
Not as long but I'm probably six years old. But I was a. Oh buddy, that's like, yeah, that's light work but I just wanted to like be like roost
William Earl Compton III
four she just peed the bed. But like six it's. I'm not. Yeah, I wouldn't think nothing of that. You try again. You be. You're at your buddy's house and with anxiety going to sleep like, God, I, I hope I don't piss the bed tonight.
Sherman Young
Breaking into their washer and dryer room to go to pre before anybody wakes up.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, I was, I was up early trying to well, get rid of the evidence. Sleeping on your buddy's floor and you just piss on the floor like bro. And then when you, when you know they know that you piss the bed and it's like, you know,
Sherman Young
God, oh my God.
Sherman's Mom
Question number five. What was a moment raising him where you thought, okay, he's going to be all right? I knew he was going to be more than all right from the get go. He was just always been the biggest blessing in my life and just full of joy and it was just a blessing to, to raise him and to see him become such a sweet, fun, consistent, loving dad. Dad to Scarlet and making her belly laugh and just planning fun things for her all the time. It just blows me away to see the dad that he has become.
Derek's Mom
Not a moment.
William Earl Compton III
Time, time out Pause it.
Sherman's Mom
So question number five. What was a moment raising him where you thought, okay, he's gonna be all right? I knew he was gonna be more than all right. Right.
William Earl Compton III
So your mom knew you were going to be more than all right from the get go. Then at the very end, I don't know if you guys heard. Blows her mind of what a.
Sherman Young
What an incredible dad I've become.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Blows her mind. Surprise.
Sherman Young
That's what I'm saying.
William Earl Compton III
She's kind of going both ways away. I'm surprised.
Sherman Young
Blows my mind.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Your mom loves you.
Sherman Young
She does.
William Earl Compton III
Your mama loves you.
Sherman Young
She does.
William Earl Compton III
All right, keep going.
Sherman's Mom
Question number five.
Derek's Mom
Not a moment. There were many moments. Derek often discussed things with me, and we were fortunate to be able to mostly let him make decisions for himself. He discussed things with us, but usually came to decisions on his own. Done. We learned pretty early he was thoughtful in his decisions, and we felt confident in letting him do that.
Chef's Mom
Well, in college.
William Earl Compton III
Thoughtful. Keyword.
Chef's Mom
You had a sophomore year in college.
Sherman Young
I did.
Chef's Mom
And you turned it around. We had to come to Jesus meeting at the end of that sophomore year, and you turned it around your junior year. And I'll never forget a few years ago trip, I was going with him, like, on a business trip, and we were in the airplane getting ready to take off, and there was a notification from ut and you had made the dean's list, and I. And it was that. We had a rough winter, if you recall. That was a rough winter. We had a lot of things going on. And I just remember I saw that and I looked at your dad and I said, I think he's gonna be okay. I think he's gonna be okay.
Caller/Listener
Solid.
Chef's Mom
Four years ago, you changed papers. It was a great. It was a great thing when you changed.
Sherman Young
The chef's mom is undefeated right now. Undefeated, dude.
William Earl Compton III
Making the dean's list. Oh, I think he's going to be all right.
Sherman Young
If you. I love that. If you would have known me during
Chef
that time, you probably. It's actually. It would make a lot more sense.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, I believe. I believe your mom, dude.
Chef
Yeah. Yeah. Solid for you. I said it in there, too. I said, yeah, solid four years ago.
Sherman Young
There's one coming up with my mom that you. I alluded to earlier in the. So, yeah, I will be very embarrassed by. What's the one piece of advice you gave him that you actually think stuck?
Chef's Mom
I think I instilled in you and your brother from an early age. Education was very important, and just to keep Pushing through, through that there's going to be, you know, it's like going to be peaks and valleys, it's going to be winters, it's going to be hard times. But you just push through and work hard. But nothing can beat that. Having that education.
Sherman Young
You did always harp that one.
Derek's Mom
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Quite, quite strongly.
Derek's Mom
I love hearing get a 4 401k and put money in it.
William Earl Compton III
Smooth, smooth, smooth. I love Derek.
Sherman Young
Great answer.
William Earl Compton III
Derek has zero emotion on his face. He just, just nod.
Deke
Said, I don't have headphones on.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, that's right. Oh, I'm trying. That makes much more sense.
Deke
I watched them all this morning but like trying to remember.
William Earl Compton III
She's got just like a three second answer. Put money in the 401k. And I just look back at you and you're just still looking down at the computer.
Derek's Mom
How would you describe him as a dad? And does it surprise you?
William Earl Compton III
Time out, time out, time out. Did your mom have a video on that one?
Sherman Young
No.
William Earl Compton III
Did she not do one for that one?
Sherman Young
I guess not.
William Earl Compton III
Well, one in the morning I was
Sherman Young
about to say I because I saw how long that video was.
Deke
Oh, you mean the last one.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Sherman Young
This is how like she sent them through. So in her cell reception at her.
William Earl Compton III
Okay, gotcha.
Sherman Young
House is terrible. So now I'm thinking through and I'm like ah, like maybe it's all good. Do you remember the advice I actually wrote?
William Earl Compton III
How about you? You could answer that.
Sherman Young
Okay. I wrote a little thing that I can read at the end. That's like a quick little letter to my mom and Jill. And the one thing that my mom always hammered into me is never ever quit. She was big on, on that. Like, do not put your head down, do not sulk, do not quit. You power through. If you say you're gonna do something, you stick to it. And she was just huge on that dude. And I like that is one lesson that still to this day at 32 years old, I can be like my mom was always saying, no, you told those people that you were going to be at that thing. You go to that thing. If you told them that I'm like. And still to this day.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah,
Sherman Young
love it.
William Earl Compton III
Question seven,
Derek's Mom
how would you describe him as a dad? And does it surprise you at all? He expects good behavior from his dog Bean, but is also loving with him. So that's promising. Great.
Sherman Young
Funkle.
Derek's Mom
The kids always love being around him. He was always. Has always loved kids. So it's not surprising at all.
Sherman's Mom
The next question about how I see him as a dad and does it surprise me? No, it doesn't surprise me at all that he is an amazing dad and so loving and fun and funny and consistent and keeps her on schedule, and Jill is leading the ship on that. Jill is the most amazing mom. But it's so sweet, sweet to see them. I'm gonna cry. It's so sweet to see them as a team, raising her with so much love.
Sherman Young
Oh, thank you, Mom. A. I would have loved to hear Chef's mom break down. What kind of dad.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Yeah.
Chef
I didn't know the. The way the question was worded. I just assumed that one was for you, Sherm, so I just said, hey, we'll just move past this one.
Sherman Young
All good impressions.
Deke
Proper wording on my part.
William Earl Compton III
No.
Deke
Should have been the dad to be
Sherman Young
is this.
Sherman's Mom
It's something that I would want y' all to know about Sherman. And Sherman is just like the most badass athlete. He is excelled in sports his whole life, and he just had all these. His life has kind of been like Forrest Gump, where all these things happen to him that just don't happen to other people. But he was asked in high school to. On the Dallas Cowboy field to come kick a field goal. He never practiced kicking a football in his life. And he had on van tennis shoes. And he. Van nailed it and won a big check for him his high school. So anything. He's like, mom, I'm gonna do a standing back flip at the beach in the thick sand. And just nailed it first time. So anything. He always has excelled at sports.
William Earl Compton III
Hell, yeah.
Derek's Mom
You see on the podcast, he's funny, creative, and takes responsibility for his work. But as chill as he seems, you'd never guess he is deathly afraid of spiders.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, spiders.
Chef's Mom
I don't know if your colleagues know that your grandfather was a football coach. Was a high school football coach for years. Very passionate about football. And I know that he's looking down right now and smiling and so happy for you and so excited because he was just passionate about football. High school, college, professional. Big.
William Earl Compton III
Big ten guy.
Sherman Young
Big ten.
Chef's Mom
Grandpa Jim is a big guy. Notre Dame.
Sherman's Mom
Notre Dame.
William Earl Compton III
What specifically, what kind of football coach was he?
Sherman Young
You can give the real answer.
Chef's Mom
Oh, he.
Derek's Mom
He.
Chef's Mom
He was tough. I mean, he was tough. Grandpa Jim, Midwesterner, Irish Catholic background. I mean, I was. I mean, that was my daddy, and I was like, he was tough.
Sherman Young
He was.
Chef's Mom
Was tough. He just did not. But he was. But the kids loved him.
William Earl Compton III
You know, he was mean as. But the kids loved him.
Chef's Mom
Some. His past students came to his funeral and Were like, we loved your dad. He was so hard. He was so tough, but he was just. He was kind of like a big teddy bear too.
Sherman's Mom
They loved.
Sherman Young
He was.
Chef's Mom
Yeah, I know. He's looking down at you, Jack,
Sherman Young
bro, We need a camera in the Hanning household to hold tomorrow. Dude.
Chef
I know.
William Earl Compton III
Oh, just a smile. I know. He's looking down on you, J. I
Sherman Young
was so bad that we had all been in person, Deke, for these interviews with our moms. Their little energy is.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Unbelievable.
William Earl Compton III
Scared of spiders, De.
Deke
I, my entire childhood, up until I moved to Nashville, was an arachnophobe to, like a, like a bad degree. Like a very bad, like, couldn't be like, if I knew they were there. Spider. But, like, it. Touch me, feel me. Insects. Anything's like, to the degree where I would fight people for trying to put spiders.
Sherman Young
Oh.
Deke
Oh, Bad, bro. I've gotten better. It's funny to see my mom, like, have these things because she brought up something to Cat the other day. She's like, oh, he's a snooper, because she's hiding her wedding dress. I'm like, honestly, Mom, I've changed a little bit. Which is fun to like, explain to her who I am now because, like, spiders don't freak me out as much. I ain't gonna touch them. Like, they're not, they're.
William Earl Compton III
We can't let. We can't let Taylor know these things.
Deke
No, I'll tell them flat out because I'm again, I'm overcoming these fears. But if you guys could not tell them, that'd be cool.
Sherman Young
I loved her answer, too, because of something that I would never imagine of Deke, truly a fear of insects. A fear of something like that. I would never think that for you, Will has stepped off for someone to
Deke
ever leave the set of a show due to the fact that I don't know what he's going to bring back.
Sherman Young
Oh, he's got something good.
Deke
Okay.
Sherman Young
He's got something very good. But I would never imagine.
William Earl Compton III
We just reload. Get a spider.
Deke
Okay, well, I thought you were going
Sherman Young
to get a spider.
Deke
You're just looking running around the office.
Sherman Young
Where's one of them little eight legged freaks?
Deke
All right, two more boys.
Sherman Young
If you can go back and tell yourself one thing at the very beginning of motherhood, what would it be?
Chef's Mom
Sweat the small stuff. Like, don't get anxious and uptight at the little things. Just take it all in. And don't get so uptight at the small things is what I would probably have to say.
Sherman Young
It's really good advice.
Chef's Mom
Yes.
Sherman's Mom
If I could go back and tell myself one thing, it would be to document more and write down. I did write down a lot of funny things they said and did and kept a record of things that happened and. But I wish that I had done more. I wish that I had journaled every single day things that were happening, because they were. Those moments are just so precious.
Derek's Mom
If you could go back and tell yourself one thing at the very beginning of motherhood, what would it be? Everyone always said time flies, and I believe that them. But, boy, does it fly. I try to be present with my kids as much as possible. I would probably say, don't worry so much. They're going to be great human beings.
William Earl Compton III
Damn.
Chef
That's awesome advice. I love that.
Deke
I love that one. And last one.
Sherman Young
The moms are ripping.
William Earl Compton III
They are. They're cooking.
Sherman Young
They're ripping.
Derek's Mom
What does being a mom actually mean to you? Not the highlight. Real version. The real answer. I always knew my mom was here for me, no matter what. I want my sons to know I am here for them. Always, every day, anytime. I love you, Derek.
Sherman's Mom
It means everything. It was the thing I declared the first week of college. You know, that's what I want to be. I want to be a mom. I wanted to be the kind of mom that I had, and I think that's what inspired me just to. She was a teacher, and she was so patient and kind and fun and funny, and I wanted to pass that down to my sons. And I don't have any regrets when it comes to that department of my life. And I just enjoyed every minute of it. And it's so rewarding to see it now. Sherman being the dad that he is, that those. The little things that we did that he's passing them down, and it's just really sweet. So thank y' all for letting me share with y', all, and happy Mother's Day, everybody.
Chef's Mom
I think unconditional love, Having unconditional love and just trying to be their biggest supporter through the good times and the bad. Bad times, especially through the hard times and bad times. And just try to be the best support person for.
Sherman Young
For your.
Chef's Mom
Your child. And unconditional love. I think that's the best advice.
William Earl Compton III
Bravo, gentlemen. And shout out the moms.
Sherman Young
Shout out the moms.
William Earl Compton III
Shout out the moms. Yeah, Listen to this stuff. Makes me miss mine a lot. But it's very cool to hear your guys's mom talk. Your. Your guys's moms talk about you guys. A lot of similarities. Just, you know, highs, lows, being there for you when you fall. The unconditional part, you can tell your guys's parents are like, just, like, fiercely, like, love you guys. Guys. They're obviously very proud and. Yeah, man. Happy Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day, dude. Happy Mother's Day, big time. Call your moms.
Sherman Young
Call your moms.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah, call your moms, dude. Yeah, call your moms. What are you about to pull up?
Sherman Young
I have a very quick little letter thing. It was like my lesson of the week.
William Earl Compton III
Okay, rip it.
Sherman Young
And then we're good.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. We give a shout out another again. It's all Mother's Day, bro.
Sherman Young
It's all Mother's Day day. Let's see.
William Earl Compton III
And shout out the. The PT Sickos. Empty sickos. Everybody who's been sticking around for this entire episode. Obviously you're going to have some work on the editing side, Chef, but shout out, everybody.
Chef
Yeah, for sure. Shout out the moms.
William Earl Compton III
Great week for moms.
Sherman Young
Great week for moms. Thank you, Moms. This is a letter to my mom. And in the same vein of what Will said at the top of the show, what we'll just touch on again. Call your mom. Tell her happy Mother's Day. Or tell your wife how much you appreciate her. I wanted to write a little something to my mom and to my wifey. Dear mom, thank you for absolutely everything. Thank you for all the packed lunches, the back scratches and the no video games for a month punishments that you didn't budge an inch on. You etched in stone a never, ever quit mentality for me that shapes me to this day. Day. Thank you for pouring into me, shoving a camera in my hands and telling me at 8 that I could go make a movie in the backyard if I set my mind to it. Thank you for always being my props, wardrobe and locations manager and director on every little thing that I shot at the house. Most importantly, thank you for showing me what an incredible woman sl mother looks like. Thank you for showing the same love you have for me to my wife and now my child Scarlet. The whole world could think that I'll fail. And I know that my Day One cheerleader will be in my corner with a rousing speech and a don't quit attitude. I love you, Mom. Dear Jilly Bean, it's your first official Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day, Julie Bean. Your mom set a path and a standard with how she raised you that I know feels daunting at times.
Chef
Times.
Sherman Young
But you answer the bell every day when I'm too tired. You're a spark plug. When I want to quit, you urge me to keep pushing. And when I half ass it at home, you call me out. And every bit of that has set me now on a path of fatherhood that I can look back on and forward to and be proud of. I have zero worries of the woman that our darling daughter will grow to be. She now has an amazing mother, just like you did, that will hold a standard and show her a path that one day will. Will seem daunting to her. But I know, just like you, that she will answer the bell. I love you. Happy Mother's Day.
William Earl Compton III
Beautifully said, bro.
Sherman Young
Thank you.
William Earl Compton III
Well written. Thank you, gentlemen. Any.
Chef
Yeah, I. I'll be quick to. Mom. I know you're listening to this. I love you so much. I loved what you said about the unconditional part. I've put you through probably so much hell, and you've been there every single step of the way through all the really, really bad and all the really, really good. And so just know it means a lot. Love you so much.
Deke
Yeah. I mean, my mom's awesome. She's my best friend. I miss her every day. I call her every day. Thank you for everything. It's been so hard down here without family, and at the same time, like, talking to her and being chill with her, it's. It's such a beautiful relationship we've come up through. Trey said, like, he loves to get a drink with his. To get a drink with his mom. Like, drink with my mom's the best thing ever. Like, it rips so hard cracking a
Sherman Young
bottle of wine over Monopoly.
Deke
I think I love your mom, and I wouldn't be here without you. And if the world had our moms, it'd be a better place. It's really cool to be on a show with moms that rip as hard as the kids do. So love you.
William Earl Compton III
Yeah. Happy Mother's Day to my mom. Mom, I. The way that you parented me growing up helped me articulate and kind of curate the type of parent and dad that I want to be with my daughters and just again, like, it wasn't always easy in our household, but the toughness, resilience, intentionality, being fierce and just doing the work at all times, running on E. I realize that now way more than I did when it was happening. I miss you dearly. And you would have been. You would have been an incredible grandmother. I know you were so excited. I miss all the man. And happy Mother's Day. I always had this running joke. Like, it would be Mother's Day. We'd go out to eat and I would just always make the joke. When the time comes, I'm going to put you in the home. And I wish I could still say those things to you and to my wife. Charo, you are. You're everything. Adventure, communication are areas where I feel like I have uncomfortable, grown in because of you. Because you love to see the world. You love to travel. You were the first one to get me to do a vacation longer than four days and to plan and to think ahead. And you teach me so many things that in the moment are very hard for myself because of how I've been, how I've been conditioned in my own right, just as a. As a man, man. And even communication, like hard conversations, the highs and lows, being there when I fall, sitting in shit with me, teaching me how to communicate, it's helped me. The way that you have loved me resembles that. It's been the most love I've ever really felt since my mom. And it's helped me love other people.
Sherman Young
People.
William Earl Compton III
Because I see the way you love me, the way you love our girls, the way you love the people in your life has helped me become a much better version of myself. And I know I am far from perfect and feel very undeserving at times for your love. But everything that both of these women have collectively taught me. I love you guys, guys, and happy Mother's Day. And I promise I will find a way to get us this picnic because Charl loves going on picnics during Mother's Day. We don't get to because we were driving back from Missouri this weekend, but yeah, man, happy Mother's Day to all of the moms. The work that goes unseen, that is invisible, that is not felt in the moment. And when perspective hits us all, we all realize how. How much you guys all mean to us and how grateful we all. We all are for you guys. And I hope you guys have a tremendous Mother's day. Papa Team 6, man. Roll out the red carpet.
Sherman Young
Roll it out, man. Earn that golf trip.
William Earl Compton III
Earn the golf trip. Earn all the fun stuff we talk about. All the fun stuff we talk about. Love you fellas.
Sherman Young
Love you guys. Love you.
William Earl Compton III
Love you, moms. Take out the trash. See you guys next week. I'm U.S. transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. The sound of a seatbelt. It's one of the most important sounds in our car. It means everyone is ready and everyone is safe. The more our kids see us put on our seatbelts, the more natural it is for them to put theirs on too. Make it a priority. This packed and heartfelt Mother’s Day episode sees hosts Will Compton and Sherman Young (plus the Boys and guests) as they reflect, laugh, and get real about motherhood, fatherhood, and family chaos. They share stories from the trenches of parenting, reveal community hacks and dad wins/losses, and, in a major highlight, feature moving tributes and video interviews with their own mothers and those of their team. The show celebrates the unseen labor and love of moms everywhere, reminding listeners to reach out, say thanks, and savor the ordinary moments.
Key Components:
Will’s Mother’s Day Monologue:
“Most of us will never know when the last time was...For the dads who still have their mom—and you’re in the middle of those last times right now and you don’t even know it—call her this week...Don’t wait for it to be a holiday. Just a regular Tuesday or Wednesday.” (16:44)
Hayden’s Dad Hack (Voicemail):
“You give her that admission to the Wet and Wild Water Park…if you ride the ride correctly, everyone should get splashed.” (76:46)
Sherman’s Letter:
“Thank you for all the packed lunches, the back scratches, the no video games for a month punishments that you never budged on… The whole world could think that I’ll fail and still my Day One cheerleader will be in my corner.” (156:42–158:29)
Zach Marshall on Mom’s Embarrassment:
“The bragging, the embarrassment…now I look back on it, and I’m like, wow. She was so proud of me.” (100:16–101:14)
Will on Parenting:
"You have to teamwork your way out of it...Try to get Rue to wash her hands, kiss dad, don’t let the bugs bite, and—go be great today." (37:52–39:21)
This episode offers the full spectrum of “For The Dads” energy: relatable chaos, heartfelt tributes, and the feeling that, as Will and Sherman say, you’re part of “Papa Team 6.” Whether you need a laugh, a cry, or some practical encouragement, this episode has your back—and it’s a reminder to never take for granted the mothers who shape us.
Bottom Line:
Call your mom, celebrate the ordinary moments, support your partner, and remember: "Make her feel like the most important person in the room, because she is." (16:44)
