Summer's got a different tempo. Everything's a little looser, brighter. One plan turns into another. You hear something, you stay a little longer. Next thing you know, you're somewhere you didn't plan to be. It's those in between moments. That's where the ideas hit. Conversations stretch out. Little memories sneak up on you. And sometimes it's just about what's in your hand. That color. That chill. The new Tropical Butterfly refresher from Starbuck Guava and passion fruit flavors with mango pineapple flavored pearls. Yeah, that feels like summer before you even taste it. Funny how one small stop becomes the best part of the day. Start your summer rhythm with Starbucks. Try the new Tropical butterfly refresher from Starbucks.

Welcome back to another episode of Inside the Bus. Let me go ahead and give you a little bit of a spoiler. One, this is episode number 49. Two, you're only going to be seeing one camera shot this whole entire time because the boys are busy. A lot of things have been going on. So we've got a light crew. But before we get into that. Mitch, who are some famous athletes. Episode 49, Tim Wakefield.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
49. The Knuckleballer. Chris Sale. My phone just spaz. I'm getting hacked. We'll get into why I'm getting hacked right soon. But a bunch of baseball guys. Tremaine Edmonds, Bobby Mitchell, I don't even know who that is. Chris Sale said MJ Garrieta. But I feel like the higher we get, the more and more until we get to like the 70s and 60s and stuff. It's like it's all baseball guys and we're not a baseball player.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
We're about to get into the linebackers, though.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
We are. Soon it'll be the Will Compton Episode
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
55 will be Tyler Booker episode.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I think the Will Compton episode is two weeks from now. That'll be a special episode.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
We've got. We've got a big episode coming up in a few weeks that we cannot give you any details on, but just know you're going to want to tune into it. You got to make sure to savor these things while they last, man.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, the two episodes is.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Oh, yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Isn't too like two episodes from now. We will have the interns. The bus and interns of class of 2026 will be. Will be joining us. We'll have more of a squad than just us two. Jack, He. He has off today or he has the night shift tonight. Coop, he's traveling this weekend. Matt is swamped with work. Derek is doing stuff for the dads. Chef's doing stuff for the dads.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
We've got a commercial shoot coming up. They're trying to plan.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
So it's a lot of fun stuff going on. But we got. We got to give the audience what they want.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
We got. Yeah, we got to show up. Rain, rain, snow or shine. We got rain going on right now. But the biggest announcement in the bus and world was the NASCAR video that we went out there and made. You're our NASCAR guy. You're going to be heading it up.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
First. Well, I guess maybe we can't say the drivers, but who is a driver? If it was up to you, that would. Come on first.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
The first driver I think we would need to have on is Carson Hosvar. He's 77. Respected sevens. Whatever. I know Taylor would love. Would love that. But he, like, I think it's a perfect partnership with us, with NASCAR and us, because. And I am not a. Like, I haven't been in the weeds for as long as some of these guys have, but, like, in my four or five years, being a fan of it, like, you don't have those American badasses as you did, like, with Dale and, like, Daryl Waltrip and all of those other guys. Like, they were like, that's a dude. And Carson, host of Art. To me, like, yeah, he's only, like, 21, 22.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
I never heard of him.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
He's very young, but, like, he gets the New Age. And, like, he, like, they call him the Hurricane because he just goes out there and he'll just wreck people for.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Where is he from?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
He's from Michigan, but, like, he's one Eddie. Everywhere he's gone, he jumped from the truck series up to the Cup Series.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Like, what did he skip? What's in between?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Xfinity.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Okay.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Or now the O'Reilly series. So he's ascended and, like, he's. He's like, a lot of people, you either love him or you hate him.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Love that.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And you hate him because he, like, is in the media and, like, does all of this fun stuff, but, like, you love him because he doesn't give a. Yeah. Like, it's. It's truly awesome to see that. And, like, I. He's my favorite driver now. It was Martin Truex before he retired, but, like, he's. We will get him on. And I've had multiple people DM me, like, first person, Carson Hosvar, Carson Osfarm. Like, just stay tuned kind of thing.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah. Who is. Who's the goat of nascar? This could be a controversial clip.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. I mean, I think if we're going off of, like, wins kind of like how we do when we have the LeBron Jordan thing, right? And, like, you got to bring up Bill Russell. It's the King. It's Richard Petty. I don't know why I forgot his name. But, like, overall, and did the most for the sport of nascar, it's got to be Dale Earnhardt Senior.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
No. Jimmy Johnson.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
See, I like Jimmy Johnson to Me, like, I wasn't. I didn't watch back then.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But like, winning four or five champions or six championships in a row is like, that's unheard of. That'll never happen again.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
So, I mean, you gotta respect there, but, like, I didn't pay attention enough then. And I've watched like these documentaries and stuff on Dale and like, when I worked at nascar, like, everybody wanted Dale stuff. And like, Jimmy Johnson, like, didn't get a whole lot of like.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, he never really. I get. He got in that one fight one time, right?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Who?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Jimmy Johnson. Did he ever fight somebody?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
He may have.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
I could be off.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It's also tough, too, because he's like, he'll still do like, some sporadic races here.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And he's in like, the ownership. Like, he owns a legacy motorsports or is a part of the ownership group, and they have like two or three cars that they'll like. They're like in top 35.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
My only memories of Jimmy Johnson is growing up SportsCenter. I feel like he would just always be on that left ticker and it'd be like either Jimmy Johnson wins or Jeff Gordon in that time. But I guess Jimmy Johnson kind of took over Jeff Gordon era. Ish. I don't. I don't really know when Jeff Gordon won his first one, but Those are the two drivers that I just remember always seeing on SportsCenter. Left.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Left handbar.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
The Jeff Gordon. If I'm correct in this, I think he started right around, like, right before Dale passed.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Gotcha.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
So, like, he. Jeff Gordon was there for a long time. I think Jimmy Johnson may. May have been like four or five years after. Again, I could be completely wrong. Odds are I probably am. But like. But also, you think of Jimmy Johnson, what do you. What car do you think of?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Like, the number. I think of the blue. I can't remember his number. 48.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Lowe's 48.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Like Jimmy John or Jeff Gordon.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
You think of 24, like the rainbow yellow. Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Like, that's what I think NASCAR needs to get back to.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
This is coming as like a dumb fan. Like, you like those. And like Dale Earnhardt, you think of the good wrench. Number three card. Like Dale Jr. You think of the eight bud car. Like, everybody has so many different sponsors now. Like Kyle Busch, you think of M&M's. But like. And I get point and I get. It's like a money thing. But though cars will run like five or six paint schemes throughout the entire season, which, again, I get that it's Money, this, that, the third. But it's also, like, nothing is synonymous with anything anymore. And, like, I remember being at nascar, they said the viewership and stuff was up and. But, like, I never heard my friends talk about it or anything like that, so it's like, yeah, I. I. And, like, all the old people, they, like, the fans definitely aren't showing up like they used to. Like, I remember one. Like, one thing I had to do while I was there was watch old races and, like, catalog them or what. I forget exactly what I had to do, but, like, that's what made me start to, like, NASCAR was doing that. And it was the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis. 400,000 people.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Holy crap.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Like, they.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That many could even fit there.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I mean, it's.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
How the heck.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It's like a two or. I don't know how long it is, but, like, the stands, it's huge.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
400,000, bro. It has to be, like, the largest. One of the largest sporting events.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I don't know if there was 400,000 in the stands or just on the property kind of thing, but, like, even still, like, I had. I rewind. I'm like, there's no way there's 400,000 people here.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Dude, that is such a good point, too, with all that branding, because it is, like, as just a normal sports fan, it's like, I knew about Jimmy Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Bush, Tony stor. Yeah. Dale Jr. And, like, you know, you can recognize their cars a little bit just from passing through because it was so consistent. Now I'm the same level of sports fan, but I couldn't tell you any of these guys.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, it's like, numbers. You got, like, the coolest one in my head is, like, Tyler Reddick. He sponsored, like, he's a part of Michael Jordan's team.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
So he. He has, like.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
They got the Jordan logo just big on it, bro.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It's so sick. So, like, that. That one stands out, but, like, Kyle Busch runs this, like, a zone. Like, the nicotine pouches. He, like, his brother race, right? Kurt. Yeah, he. He raced for a long time, but he. He just retired a couple years ago because he had, like, a really bad.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
They get in fights, right? Or one of them does.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Kyle does.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
He's not.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Kurt was crazy on the radio and, like, it would say some, like, afterwards, and, like, Kyle and Joey Logano fought.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That's what it was. I need more comms, too, dude.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
They. Back in the day, you used to be able to, like, you're on the track, and you could talk to the car in front of you.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
They don't do that anymore. No, See, why not? I guess maybe people were getting like it was like a safety hazard.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It could be cuz like you're focused on like talking to the guy behind you. But it was. I don't know if it was every single race, but like at Daytona or like Talladega, like the drafting tracks.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It'd be like Tony Store talking to Carl Edwards like, hey, Carl, I'm gonna bump you here. Like, let's start working together. And he's like, yeah, 10, four. I got you. But I feel like that would be so sick, dude.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That would be incredible. They need to at least pick a few races where they allow it.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Just in this 100.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And like, I think they're like, they're. People don't like the way that there's stages in races now, but that's been around for like, I want to say close to 10 years now. And like it makes it more exciting like during then rather than like watching the start at like the first couple laps and then. All right, I'll see you in two and a half hours.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But if we could go to one
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
race in the year, which race would you want to go to?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
There's two to come to mind. Or three really. Daytona 500, half to have to Super Bowl.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Have you ever been to Daytona Beach?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I actually, I've been on the track. We went probably close to 10, 15 years ago. My dad, brother and I drove to Daytona and we watched a supercross race that they have in the infield and like we were staying like our seats were on the track.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
How close is it to the beach?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Very, like, I think like probably a couple miles. Daytona 500 Talladega got to Eric Church hallway there. Yeah. And then the brickyard 400 would be sick in Indianapolis.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
We got to make it happen.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I think there's some. This NASCAR partnership is going to be really cool. I'm super excited for it. And like it's. I was telling like everybody in like the team meeting before, like this truly is like such a crazy full circle moment for me because like we're gonna be getting a bunch of footage from NASCAR and be able to like, I guess we had the license to it or whatever, but the department in NASCAR that would have sent us the footage, which is the department I'm in, it's

I'm the host of Irsay The Audible and iHeart Audiobook Club. This week on the podcast, I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook project, Hail Mary Massive Sci fi Adventure about survival and science and what happens when you wake up alone, very far from Earth.
Ray Porter
I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections and it's like, okay, yo yo yo, is this indulgent And I really thought about it. I was like, no. At this point, it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that deeply, emotionally affected me. And I left it on the mic. That's great, because it served the story. People will say, like, oh, my God, I cried at the end. It's like, yeah, dude, me too.

Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Guys that I used to work for, DM me, like, back to your roots. I'm like, yep, you're gonna be hearing a lot, a lot more from me. So it's. It's pretty cool. Like, I'm fired up about it. And especially after the last couple months, it's like, okay, this is. This is pretty sweet, dude.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
And it, like, truly full circle of just, like, being stuck in the archive room, grinding away at, like, a pretty monotonous job, I would imagine. And then now you get to be, like, the main guy. A part of a show that they're pouring so much resources into to, like, really expand their.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It's cool. And so, like, you're the same way with your tennis and soccer. Like, you have other interests other than football, obviously, Right? And, like, you started your. The Slice podcast and, like, you have that, like, soccer, I mean, just kind of. Yeah, you're just a fan of it.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Watch.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And, like, I never, like, I have interest in, like, NASCAR Supercross, like, stuff like that. Never in a million years did I think I'd be working on a show for that.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Crazy.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Because I. I always felt like it's too niche unless you're working with said brand. So it's super cool, like, to be able to do stuff with Supercross like we did with Delaney and with Will and Taylor two or three years ago, and now doing stuff with nascar, it's
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
like, you just never know what's gonna happen, where life will take you, which is.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Which is fun.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That's fire.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I think it'll be. Now, those of you listening, you guys know Will and Taylor don't know about nascar. I like to think I know enough, but I'm certainly not in the weeds of, like, all of this other stuff. But, like, I think the dynamic that Will and Taylor are gonna bring out of the NASCAR drivers is what the sport needs in the sense of, like, these guys aren't robots. Like, they're dudes. They, like, drinking beers and shit on the weekend after, after winning, like, like to personalize them more.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And like make it more personal and like relatable rather than like they're getting paid a ton of money to go out here and just race cars.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
It's perfect to bring back. The fans like me were like, I want a fan of NASCAR, but I least knew a little bit of what was going on. And now there will be two people that pretty much are in my exact same shoes.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That are kind of bringing it.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And like it's, it's cool because if you're a die hard NASCAR fan, you're not gonna necessarily like it because Will and Taylor are going to ask dumb questions. However, if you stick, if you're not, you should listen to it. Not expecting, expecting to learn more about nascar, but like see the guys put their, their guard down and like loosen up. Like that's what this show I think is for. It's not, you're not going to learn anything about NASCAR unless like the drivers are saying like, yeah, like this is what happens when this happens, which I'm sure there'll be a little bit of. But like it's. You're going to learn more about the drivers and like connect with them more. And I think that's what makes this show, what's going to make the show a lot more.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
The number one thing that I want from this show is I want to get a tour of Denny Hamlin's lake house, bro. No, he's not racing anymore. But I also think that he's still, he's still racist. Oh, is he?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Oh, he like, he just won last week.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That's what I said. Yeah. Denny Hamlin, he's just got to upgrade to his house is what I meant to say. But I think as a sports fan, you know, everybody loves Zillow as a sports fan. And one of like the most fun pastimes is looking up the sick houses that like your favorite athletes get. I always look at Will Muschamp's house. Not my favorite coach, but his lake house in Columbia is so sick. He's like basically just his own island. Denny Hamlin's lake house. So many baseball players have sick lake houses. It's just a fun sports fan pastime.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And like there's been like a Netflix show for NASCAR and like stuff on prime and you like, they'll go to a couple of the drivers houses like,
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
God damn, like dude, the NASCAR guys.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But like I. Because it's not public and like they don't. It's like not like NFL. Like, oh, Myles Garrett signed for $250 million.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Like, right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
NASCAR contracts are not public. And I think it would be like, I personally want to know, like we're not pocket watching. Like how much do you guys get paid?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Because you got all these signs on your car.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Like, who? Like, yes, the cars are expensive. So I know that's helping out. But like how much is that going to you? Do you get paid per race? You get paid like top 10 incentives. Like how does all of that work? And I think that would be a cool thing to.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Oh yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But like, I don't know if the nor like the die hard NASCAR fans really care, but like these dudes houses are unreal.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That's such a good point. Like they have to be making equivalent to.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It's insane.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Like you think like equivalent to the median NFL player.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I would say they're making like probably like running back. Like a high end running back.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Jeremiah Love.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
That's like rookie. I'm saying like they probably make between like 10 to 15 a year in my head.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I mean Denny Hamlin started a whole team with like. And he's still driving.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That's what's crazy to me that you can even do that.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. Like Brad Kasowski has. It's.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Does he still race?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, he's been around for a minute.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
A minute. Both of them.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Denny Hamlin's got to be old.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
He's in his 40s.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Oh, dang.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
He's in his 40s. Bush is in his 40s.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
When do guys normally retire, bro?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
You can go really for however long you want. Yeah, it's like as long. Once you kind of get like older and a little bit like Braille, like a little not braille brittle is when it becomes an issue. But you can really. Like you're not. If you crash, you're hitting it. But like the safety in those cars are unreal. So it's like.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
And they're probably getting better and better.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. 100. But like, dang the. Like Denny just won a million dollars this past weekend for the all star race.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
And it's like he won the All Star race.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. So it's like they're the amount of money in it. And we had Dale junior on and he said like to. I forget what the. It was a charter. It's like a num. Like you have to buy your number. And I think he said in order to buy a number, it's like a couple mil. And Danny has three charters. Three numbers. 45, 23 and 35. And like Kozlowski has the 6 17, so that's two. But like those. It's not cheap, right. And like you got to like maintain those teams. And these cars are probably worth a million dollars in parts and everything. You got to redo them every time. Each per. Each driver has four or five different cars that they drive for different types of tracks. So it's like, it's really interesting. I think, I think it'll be cool. I'm excited about it. I hope you guys are too.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Every Thursday, 6am and we might be able to go some. Right? Like you guys will be. Are you going to the race?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
I'm going to add net. They went in Nashville.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I don't know if I'll be back in time for my bachelor party, but it'll be. It should be cool. I remember we went with Barstow. That was fun.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, that was a lot of fun. What a city that. That needs a race. I'm surprised they don't have one. Closest one they have is probably Darlington. But Myrtle beach. You were just at Myrtle Beach. That. That's nascar. That's NASCAR heaven.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Oh, bro. We were down there during bike week. Oh, you're not going to sit here and tell me that those bike. Those bikers wouldn't be like, fucking hell yeah, brother. Seeing some white.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
You get 400,000 in Myrtle beach for a race.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It was. I. What I'm starting to realize. And I was getting. Dietrich was giving me hell about it. Like, I just hate drinking now.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Dude. Yeah. I was telling you, I have a two drink rule at these. Because I just go to a wedding every other weekend of my life. Apparently shout out to everybody that's been getting married and inviting me. But I'm just like, I get that second drink and I'm like, what do I gain by another one?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It's like. And bro, like we were. One night, we were at Boardwalk on the Beach, Broadway.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
At the Beach. Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
We were to dueling pianos, Crocodile Rocks. Dietrich brought. Bought 30 shots of Rumpelman's.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
How much did that come out to?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
His tab was over 300, which is so cheap for. Yeah, I don't know. It was that. It was like I got like four beers one time for 16 bucks. I'm like, this is one drink on Broadway. Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Holy crap. But I gotta get back to Myrtle.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I. It's like the last two or three, I was just fucking tossing him on the ground. I felt like it's come back for doing it on the ground. But I'm like, if I don't drink this. He's gonna give me hell.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Did you have one night where you did go hard that.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It was that night. But, like, even then, like, I. Some of. Some of my buddies, like, we had a buddy throwing up the next morning. Like, I can't. I can't do that anymore.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Cause y' all were golfing the whole weekend, right?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
We golfed Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and our one buddy, Craig. Shout out Craig. He's. He's a. He's the best. God. Banged up, was throwing up before we got. Got in the Uber. And then some car said something to him. He started sprinting after the car, like, not. Not in any way gonna catch him, but it was just, like, hilarious. Then the next morning, we. We get through. We're golfing two times at 11. So by now it's like 12, 12:30, right. We get through like, three or four holes. He just goes over the woods, just starts puking, and he' take the next couple holes. So he's just sitting in the cart. Like, anytime his cart buddy gets out, he's just, like, sprawling out on it. And then once we hit the ninth hole, hit the turn, he was like, I am going to go back to the car. Just took a nap in the car. And we. We got to, like, the 14th hole, and, like, everybody was playing like shit. We were all tired. We all hung over. Like, let's just call it dude.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Courses need. I mean, I understand why they don't, but, like, I feel like 12 to 14 holes is the perfect amount.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. Unless you're like, oh, like, you're. Yeah, you're shooting.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But, like, at that round, at that time, it's like, all right, I'm fine. And it took forever. And.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Which day was that?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
This was Saturday. Our last. Like, we're all. It's been three days of drinking. We're all just tired and, like, not feeling great. And, like, the. I was telling my one buddy Colin, like, the amount of liquids I have put in my stomach from beer, Rumpelman's water, Bang. Energy drinks, Celsius, Gatorade. Gatorade. Light. Like it Thursday night. Yeah. I thought I was gonna. Like, I was debating going outside and throwing up and. Do you guys know me? I hate throwing up the worst. I don't. I don't know what happened, but, like, it just felt like. And I tried to poop, and, like, I did, but it wasn't like a.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
It wasn't getting it out.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. But, like, it sort of kind of helped. And it, like, I. I think it was up from like 1:30 until like close to 4 and it was Amazon

I'm the host of Irsay the Audible and Iheart Audiobook Club. This week on the podcast I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook project Hail Mary Massive sci fi adventure about survival and science and what happens when you wake up alone, very far from Earth.
Ray Porter
I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections. And it's like, okay, yo, yo, yo. Is this indulgent? And I really thought about it. I was like, no. At this point, it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that deeply, emotionally affected me. And I left it on the mic. That's great because it served the story. People will say, like, oh, my God, I cried at the end. Dude, I was in hell, just nauseous. And I knew, like, the next day, like, it's supposed to be the bigger day, and we're golfing all day, and then we have to drink. Like, I just. I hate drinking.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
The golf trip. The golf trips are going to start changing a little bit.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I know.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Because maybe even next year, Saturday, no golf. We just. We just beach it.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I think next Saturday y' all go to the beach. No, we haven't gone to the beach since we've gone down there.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Dang.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. Next year, I think we're going to parlay it. I don't know if we're going to do it in Myrtle, but it'll be the same crew Collins bachelor party. So, like, hopefully it'll be a little bit of a switch up. I highly doubt it.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But, like, I just truly, like, I am looking forward to this weekend of not doing a thing. Because then next weekend I have another bachelor party. And, like, it's going to. Where's that one in Maryland?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Oh, wow.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
In Annapolis, getting a boat charter.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Nice.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Then we're gonna golf and we're going out to dinner. It's for one of my high school. It's from. It's for Andy.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah. Yeah. Shout out, Andy.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Shout out, Andy. I feel bad. I still haven't. I need to get, like, measured for my suit and everything.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Like, when's his wedding?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
In August. There's still time and stuff for it. But, like, we got Cade's wedding. We got. I have Andy's wedding. I have the wedding in Italy. I have the wedding in Greece. Like, I have.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
This is Summer of Mitch. You, you out. You outside with it. I'm gonna be international, national, local, regional.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It's gonna be. I'm looking forward to it, but it's gonna be. It's gonna be an expensive year. It has been an expensive year. But, yeah, it's gonna be a record year. As. As Eric Church, like,
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
shout out Eric Church, commencement speech. That was. I've heard a lot. I'm a big commencement speech guy. I love going on YouTube and just watching commencements 100%. And that one is off top of my head right now. I'm like, if I'm not going to give it the number one spot, it's at least top 300%. I thought Roger Federer gave an incredible one.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I don't even know if I've heard his.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Dude, his is so cool. Just because it's all about, like, letting go of the last point and, you know, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, he only won 51% of the points he played throughout his whole career. And he's like, that's the. The margin. And, like. And that's the difference between, you know, being as good as he was and not.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
That's so insane.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Like, it's the only sport where you can win more points but lose the match.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Which is crazy.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
That doesn't even make sense at all
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
because it's like, games can be longer. So, like, say if we're playing, I'm serving. I win. I ace you four times, so I get those four points. Now it's your serve. And say we just keep battling. It keeps going to deuce. It could take nine points to win that game.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
So if we're, like, dragging it out and getting into wars, then you can stack your points up.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Got you.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
But it's just crazy. But, yeah. Eric Church.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
How do you. Like you said you were. We were talking about it earlier, and you said it took him over a year to write that.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
In my head, it's like, how do you even come up with something like that? The. The. The. The level your brain has to be operating and, like, how introspective and like, micro macro type thinking. Not even trying to be funny, but, like, how you actually have to be. It's like, I could never in a million years.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
I know, man. You know, I saw a story on Twitter. I don't know if it was true or not, but, you know, apparently, I think I was telling you this yesterday, like, he was sitting there trying to write it one day and just could not come up with anything. And he got super frustrated and like you'd imagine any famous country singer to do. It's like, they get mad, throw their pen and pick up their guitar. And apparently, like, he just kind of started strumming and was like, six chords. Like, there's got to be something with this.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
And then I guess he created his. His six. Like, the definitions for each of them.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. My Beth. Aunt Beth sent me that.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Really?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
She sent it to Nate and I. She's like, this is awesome. Like, you guys have been through so much. It's like, kind of motivational.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And I bring her up because unfortunately she is resigning from South Carolina.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
This. And she's. This was her last year.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yep.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
What's she doing?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
She's gonna start doing, like, some consulting stuff. Like, dang, she. She's a badass. And, like, she'll land on her feet or. Not that she didn't get fired. She decided to walk away. But, like, I know that pains me. I was. I've been meaning to tell you, but she.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
I feel bad for the students.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It just wasn't what she wanted it to be anymore.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And so now she's back. She's living in Charleston now full time, which she has to because her place out there is gorgeous.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
The spot she's in is.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And it's unreal and so, like, super happy. Like, she's gonna be completely fine.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But lost for the university 100 and
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
from, like, we gotta replace.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
From whatever. Like. Because I've met a couple people that have had her as a professor and they're like, she's awesome. She's like. She's the most real. Like. And it's like, weird for me to see. Hear that because it's like, that's my aunt. Right. We, like, it's just. It's cool to, like, people here, like, talk about your aunt like that. And like, I sort of, like, she's very motivational and like, so I sort of see in that way. And then when you go and talk to her class and like, she said that, like, everybody was locked in on you, which is pretty cool. So it definitely sucks. That sucks for South Carolina because they're losing. It seems like they're losing a good one.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
We just keep losing, man. We keep losing. Baseball team, end of the year on 12 game losing streak. Lost 30 games for the first time and I don't know how long. Men's sports. I think football, though, was that.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
You're going to take it. You're going to take the summer break?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah. I mean, well, yeah, we're full reset now. Sports are over. Season's over across the board.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Just. Just a Mental reset for the next three or four months, and then it's 2026.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Season is here, and that's what we're looking forward to. Now, baseball, obviously, just ended, but we're
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
recording this on Thursday. But from today, 100 days until football starts.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
College football, which I can't wait, man. I got to sit down with Connor Shaw on my podcast.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, I was. I. We haven't even gotten into that, but, like, that seemed, dude, unreal. Like, the. I. The one clip that I saw was that first and 10 when I talked. Was talking to you about. I'm like, dude, it's like, I need to start thinking more like, this, dude.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
The guy gets it, man. And, you know, he's been through a lot. Last August, he had sudden cardiac arrest, and I didn't know this dab, but when you have cardiac arrest outside of a hospital setting, you have, like, a 9% chance to live. Oh, so crazy.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
He, like, gets CPR and stuff while he's out there.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
They did CPR for five minutes, which is also, like, very quick. No, no, that's, like, a long time.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Oh, it is, yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Because, like, essentially, he's out for those five minutes, and so the oxygen to the brain, like, so, you know, he gets into the ambulance that whole time, you're just like, man, they did CPR for this long. Like, even if he does come to, how much damage has he done? And luck, clearly, he's. He's all good, but has all of that background, you know, Ultimately, a tib fit, a compound fracture is what ended his NFL career. Was South Carolina's best quarterback, undefeated at home.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
How old were you when he was playing?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
I was in high school.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Okay, so, like, peak. Peak other than when you were there, but.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, yeah, but, like, when I was there, you know, we had one good year, then we just started sliding like crazy. He's truly. Like, we were good, like, one time in the 80s for, like, a year. But, like, his years was, like, our only good years ever. And, dude, sitting across from him, and it's crazy because we're only four years apart.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, that is crazy.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
And now that I've sat down with him for an hour, like, I feel like we're. We're friends. It's not, like, fan player relationship. And it's been cool because we've just been texting back and forth a little bit about random things, but, dude, it just makes so much sense why he was so successful. But going back through, and I'm making the clips and I'm pulling all of the Old footage. And I'm just like, oh, my gosh, man. Like, this guy was nasty. And these teams were actually stacked. And I know I talk about it way too much in the office, but I'm just watching. I'm like, dude, nine of the 11 guys on defense were in the NFL.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. And sneaky NFL, sneaky resume. Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Roster.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
But it was definitely like, you know, he's somebody that I. It was for sure, like, a dream guest for me to have on. And it's been cool to see the response on social media with people showing love on the clips.
Amazon Health AI Ad Voice
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Everything seems to be doing pretty well. I saw one of your clips with the footage, and, like, it sparked like a nostalgia type. Like, I remember him throwing with the glove on that, the perfect, like, GST Wilson ball. I'm like, now they're all like, the Nike Adidas balls. It's like, get back to that because that is, like, that. It looks. The spiral on that thing is so pretty. Dude.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
His. His era of college football is the one that in, like, 25 years, like, those highlights will come up. There'll be, like, random college football players like Connor Shaw, and you'll go back and watch and be like, this was a football player.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. It's like the. The one Twitter crown. Twitter account. That guy rocked.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Exactly.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Couldn't be a better person for that
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
account because true college football fans, like, you see him and you see the bald head, you're like, dude, I remember him like that. The squad.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I feel like South Carolina has a bunch of those guys.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Too many guys. Too many of them. Well, I mean, we got it. We got a chance to have two guys draft in the top 10 this coming year.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
And it's like, we got. We got to do something with it. Got to. But yeah, there was one other thing.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Did we want to talk about how I almost got scammed?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Oh, yeah. But is there something wrong with your email, though? Did something actually happen?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I don't. I haven't gotten. Nothing has happened yet.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
It was. I feel like you're good because I would feel responsible for some of it because.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
No, I mean, I was going to open it.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah. Got to open it.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But I. I got an email yesterday from one of my. Whatever. One of my ex girlfriends and haven't talked to her in a very, like, two to three years since, like, we broke up and everything. And I'm like, this is. It's like an invitation. Like, like an Evite type of thing. And I'm like, what the am I getting invited to? And, like, what is, is she trying to like get at me or something?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right? Is this one of those weird games that's being played?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And so I open it and then it like, oh, this site can't be reached. Like maybe it's just like a weird little bug. I do it again and then like this thing pops up and I'm like, okay, this doesn't look good. So I went back and then it says on the email like open in your browser. So I went to my computer, open it up, and then it was like almost installed.

It was like it was her email to my personal email. I'm like, this is oddly weird.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
So it's like either she got hacked or she was low key trying to get your email.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But I felt like if I. If I do get hacked, I'm an idiot, dude.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
That's what. That's how I feel whenever I see guys on Twitter.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
When they get hacked, and it's like a crypto thing. And then their first tweet back is like, man, I don't know how this happened, but it's like, bro, you got DM'd and you clicked the link and you thought you were gonna get like, $10,000, bro.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
That happened to Davey one time.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Of course it did.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
It was his Instagram. He. I. Somebody must have DM'd him. He opened something and then all Of a sudden, he's like, I'm selling these MacBooks. I'm selling these. These cars. And we're like, Davey. He's like, dude, I don't know what happened.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
It's like, dave, you know exactly what happened.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. And like, he started DMing with. I guess the person had his account, and they were like, send me $10,000 for your account back. I'm like, he's like, my account is not worth $10,000.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
He's like, done.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
What are we doing here? So he was off Instagram for like four or five years, and then he finally just got back, like a year or two ago.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
He was locked in four to five.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Damn. He was on everything else. He had, like three different burners. He had to delete his one burner because of his new job. Now, that's so funny. But it, like, if something happens to me, I know what happened.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
But I'm going to. Hey, I don't know what happened.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
You have to have to. And. But we also got to reach a point where, like, I got to believe technology is good enough to just shut that stuff down.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. How do you that in the fucking. The calls.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, the calls.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I've gotten a couple, like, the last couple of days, and I just haven't answered them. But I like, I don't know if there's like a Trying to scam you or not, but it's like, how do you. How does this still a thing? It is 20, 26 to that.

And then also, I guess this could be considered a more deep topic, but the health care system.
Starbucks Ad Voice
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Because we both have.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Your wife and Brooke are in the health care system. So, like, we hear it firsthand.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
But, dude, mine. Recently I went to go do this test. The place that I'm doing this test, my insurance is with. So cool. Send them the insurance. Whatever. Go do the test. I come out of the test and they're like, okay, so it looks like your insurance is out of network. And I'm like, out of network. Like, no, like, it's in network. We looked. She's like, well, like, I'm sorry. Like, Cigna is not with this blah, blah, blah. And it's like, at this point, like, oh, like, what am I supposed to do? Like, I have to. So, you know, I have to pay like $200 out of pocket for this bullcrap test. And then, you know, I like, sent. Send an email in talking about it, and she's like, oh, I see where the confusion is. Yes. This center is in your insurance company's. Network. But the place that we sent your labs to is not. So that's why you have. And that's who you have to pay. And I'm like, well, then why the heck are y' all partnered together? Yeah, it's ridiculous. And it's like $200.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
For some bull crap.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Like something kind of like that happened to Brooke. She got like a blood test done forever ago. And like, I don't know, it's not like it wasn't like a consent thing, but they like asked her or they must have like, do you want to do this test as well?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And she was like, sure. Not knowing anything or like thinking it was a part of like, let's just say the package she was getting. And then she gets like a bill and it's like $500. She's like, what is this for? And they were like, oh, you asked for this test. And she was like, no, I didn't. Like, you guys just did it, right? And we're like, well, sorry. And so now she has to like. And like, she's going through school, like, is in debt already from school loans and everything. It's like, how am I supposed to afford this? Like, I. I didn't want that. So like, some little things, man.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Clean it up. Government.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. Brooke was saying too, like, she just started her job last week, hasn't been going very well. And like, it sucks to hear because one, obviously one. It's your girlfriend too. Like, what was happening is like, I
Commercial Voice
don't know
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
officially if they're a for profit or non. Profit.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Because I know Vandy's one of the. Like, it's different. But they were like, we need to get these patients in and out. Like, you need to discharge them as fast as you can. Like, we gotta turn over really fast. So like, we always have people come coming in. And one of the. Thank God. One of the. Like Brooke was saying like, too. Thank God. One of the other doctors were like, what are we doing here? Like, she's a brand new PA and we're out here like telling her to just churn through patients and not really care about. And she like, the doctor was like, disregard. It was like, disregard what she's saying. Do not ever, like, what's the word? Like, do not ever forget about a patient's like, health. Like, make sure they are good before you try to turn them over.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Good on that doctor.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And it's like, why? Why is that even a thing?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Think about how many places are being run like that.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And a lot and she said, like, a lot of it is like, top down because. But like, those people are businessmen. They're not medical people. They don't understand what's going on in the medical thing, but they're just. They just see all these numbers like, hey, we gotta spin it out. And they're like, well, no, some. Each comp. Each case is very complex in its own. So it's like we gotta decide whatever. But like, the business people, like, we don't care. That's wasting us money, dude. And it's like, what are we even doing?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
It's sad, man. I just think there's just way too many stories out there of people going in with an issue that they have and then the doctor being like, oh, no, you're all good. But it's like, you never did a blood test. You never did like an mri, didn't do any of these things. And then they come back three months later and it's, hey, you have stage three cancer. And it's like, well, yeah, I came in a while ago and like, because you view me as dollar sign now, my whole family is that shit's.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, it's frustrating and it's annoying. I mean, there's nothing inside the bus man that you or I can do about it, which kind of sucks. And we're just here to. But yeah, it is what it is.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
But I see I forgot to start the timer on my phone, but I feel like we've got to be going for it for a while. But great episode.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Fun episode.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Fun episode. Next week. Wait, so we're Next week will be 50 and then 51 will be intern episode.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Correct.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Got you. New crop. They got a lot to live up to. The last crop of interns.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Should we kind of how busin did something for them.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
They listen to Inside the bus.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I feel like we should do it for this episode. Kind of like how they did it.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right? But can we think of something?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, they got a. They have to. I don't want to say a personalized gift. Not a personalized thing, but like a candy bar or something for each guy because that could get expensive. But how many guys do we have? We're getting four, five.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
I have no idea how many we're getting.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
For me. May you can think of your own. Kind of leaving you out on an island. What? You have to tell me what my brother's name is.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Oh, I like that.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And I Maybe for you.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, I'll just maybe piggyback and say both my brothers.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Or I could say your birth. You could say your birthday.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah. Yeah, I feel like that's a good one. I like that. You got to find out what day my birthday is and come in and tell me. Day one. Should we do happy early birthday?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
What should we do for Jack and Coop?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Jack. Let's see. What would Jack love? You have to tell Jack what his favorite movie is.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I don't even know that.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, you do. He. He has that. That hoodie.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yes, I was gonna say that. Or his favorite band. Yeah. That him and G always would talk about. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I do. I like the movie though.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah. Either one is.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Either that one's gonna be a deep pool, deep pole.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
So. Yeah, maybe that's too hard. What is a good one for Jack?
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
I think he's talked about it on here. His worst injury.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, that's a good one because. Yeah, I think there's other evidence out there that would point to it too.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
And then for coot, you gotta. This is. This will be a different one. But you have to let him know that the Cardinals are not doomed. They're destined. They're not destined for doom.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Right.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
You got to pump them up and like have to give him a little
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
pump up speech and that you think the Cardinals are going to go 10 and 6
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
because what does he have to. What happens if he has to eat a lemon or.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
He has to do what he said this year. He says he'll do the hot chip. He hasn't set the win rate yet, but that's what I love about Coop. We shook on it. And I know that he's going to set a fair number. Yeah, that's not just like a gimme for him.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah. Are those three good?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, that's good.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Should we do one for Matt?
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
For Matt.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
He's got to call him Chopped.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Calm. Chop. First day, you got to call him Chop.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Perfect. All right, There you go. Four assignments for episode 49. Can't wait to meet all the interns.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, it'll be. It'll be cool. For the second year we have. You guys have a lot to live up to because we had five great ones last year.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Everyone got hired except for two. And that was only because Cheese was 19. And Cade.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
Yeah, they're both still in school.
Host 1 (Possibly Mitch)
Yeah.
Host 2 (Possibly Jack)
So you guys got a lot of lot to live up to. We can't wait to have you here in our studio. But it'll be fun. Appreciate you guys for listening. And we'll check. We'll catch you next week for episode 50. Foreign.

This episode is a classic "Inside The Bus" check-in, with the crew running light but keeping the vibes high. Mitch and Jack dive deep on their big new NASCAR partnership and what it means for the show and their fandom. There’s also plenty of banter about the evolving culture of NASCAR, athlete salary mysteries, and the future direction of the show with new interns on deck. Later, Mitch gives a behind-the-scenes look at interviewing South Carolina football legend Connor Shaw and touches on some personal stories, including awkward scam attempts and frustrating healthcare woes.
"I think it’s a perfect partnership with us… because you don’t have those American badasses as you did. Like, with Dale [Earnhardt], Daryl Waltrip… Carson Hocevar, to me… he gets the New Age…he just goes out there and he’ll just wreck people for."
— Jack, 05:05
The tone is conversational, irreverent, nostalgic, and peppered with bro-classic humor, but also reveals moments of candor and earnestness—particularly on personal growth, friendship, sports fandom, and frustration with adult responsibilities and nonsense bureaucracy.
This episode showcases the show’s mix of sports, pop culture, and “guys hanging out” energy. It’s a behind-the-scenes episode that’s as much about personal stories as it is about in-depth sports fandom and the culture around it.
If you want to get to know how a sports podcast crew thinks about branding, audience, growth—and just shoot the breeze about everything from car sponsorship to golf hangovers—this is a must-listen.
