Papa Team 6 welcome welcome to another episode of for the Dads. You might be thinking to yourself, Willie boy, why is your you sound a little down right now. I'm doing that to anchor the emotion for the severity of a situation that we need to address. A few things happened a few episodes ago that we need to handle and before we do anything else and get into this episode, I just urge you guys to listen to this message. Thank you. My fellow Americans and PT6ers. A few weeks ago I was on this incredible podcast and I confidently announced to the world that my next child would be a boy. The ultrasound supported these claims and like many leaders before me, I spoke with great confidence but perhaps a bit too early. After further review, including a blood sample and the official anatomy scan, new information has come across my desk and tonight I sit before you to say we are in fact having a girl. Now listen, I'm not going to lie to you. I was extremely excited about having the possibility of a boy. But as a father of girls, I also know there is nothing better than raising strong, hilarious, sweet little girls who completely run my household.
Sherman Young
So while the administration briefly believed it
Willie Compton
was entering in its boy dad era, we are proudly continuing the current policy
Sherman Young
of girl dad dominance.
Willie Compton
The science is in, the decision is final and I cannot be more grateful to my beautiful daughters. When Rebel Lawan, my oldest, I will say your beauty is unmatched. Your confidence is unreal. You've never met a stranger in your entire life. You keep us guessing with your profound thoughts and I love being your dad each and every single day. To my youngest, Willow Rose Lawan, your bravery and knowing who you are and what you want at all times keeps us on our toes.
Sherman Young
And I have no doubt later in
Willie Compton
life, you'll be one of the most extremely successful women this world has ever seen. I am so gratefully honored to be your father. And I know that the both of you are going to be amazing older sisters. To our youngest daughter, I want to say thank you. I want to say God bless my wife, God bless these United States of America, God bless these proud girl dads out there, and God bless for the dads. This hat is now available on Wednesday. Please enjoy this episode with Sherman Young William Earl Compton. Thank you. That's my time. Y chromosome, we call upon thee, testicles and phallus. Y chromosome, we ask thee to lift thy girl curse that is upon this office that only allows us to produce female offspring.
Sherman Young
Testicles and phallus.
Willie Compton
Kali ma, kalima Kalima shantide. Y chromosome, fill us with tea.
Sherman Young
Hi. Hi. T D. Testicles and followers.
Willie Compton
Thank you, Dan Gable. All right, welcome to for the dads. I hope the trash is taken out. I hope you had a wonderful March 14th over the weekend. I know we're going to get into a lot of stuff. My brother in law came to town with his beautiful girl girlfriend, Morgan. We had the in laws over. I know you went ripping cards, ripping packs. You went to a flag football game with our boy, fellow dad, Jeremy Klump.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
Who's also currently pregnant with a girl.
Sherman Young
With a girl.
Willie Compton

Willie Compton
You got semen team 6 or they sling it for the love of the game. They're not yet a father if they're becoming a father and they're trying to be part of Papa Team 6. You go through Bud's training, that's breeding until dad status.
Sherman Young
Yep.
Willie Compton
And then you got your wild card, your goomba's, young, wild and free.
Sherman Young
Some of some of my favorites are goon berets.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
To be honest.
Willie Compton
Yeah. But ultimately, guys we love again, busting balls, hanging out, talking about what we've learned in fatherhood. We love embracing the fatherhood community. Sherman Young
Fresh drop. Fresh drop. 20% off today only if you're listening. On March 18th.
Willie Compton
So tells me a couple things.
Sherman Young
What's going on?
Willie Compton
Number one, I love the idea. I love that that was breaking news. I love that I didn't know about it. And we're getting a candid reaction. I have two thoughts. Your dad right now. Listen, if you have the freedom to purchase, go purchase.
Sherman Young
Go do it.
Willie Compton
If you need a check with the MT6 or at the house, now's the time to do it. If you're an MT6, you're thinking, I got to get some merch for my big guy. Yeah, now's the time to do it. Yeah, I love that.
Sherman Young
And it's just a little flash sales. Something new that we're doing this year that maybe we might see a little bit more of it. I've been hearing rumors. I like the flash sales for the true sicko.
Willie Compton
I'm good with flash sales. We just gots to know.
Sherman Young
We gots to know.
Willie Compton
But right now. Okay. BWTB.com 20 off today only. All the. For the dads merch.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
Mother's Day's coming up. Father's Day's coming up. I know we're a couple months out, but never too early to start. Never too early or never too early to just celebrate your wife or your husband.
Sherman Young
Yes, absolutely.
Willie Compton
What do we got on the docket? We have, look, my little brother Wyatt, head coach. Coach Compton.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
Came to town over the weekend. We talked about it a little bit on busting with the boys, but him and his girlfriend Morgan, they came and visited this weekend. Phenomenal.
Sherman Young
Phenomenal.
Willie Compton
I texted him yesterday, reflecting on the weekend. I said, love seeing you this weekend. It was awesome having you guys up. Yeah, I know you're laughing, but I was. I was being very genuine.
Sherman Young
No, I love the idea of you sending a reminiscent text. It was the only reason why I laughed.
Willie Compton
I was driving home and I was like, we haven't really said anything to you. You know, we're a couple. We're a couple Compton brothers. We don't. We don't, like, talk about emotions a whole lot. Yeah. And I'm like, I really enjoyed having him up. Uncle Wyatt. Having Uncle Wyatt up. Like, they were awesome with the kiddos. Seeing Wyatt and Morgan engaging with Ruru was on 10 the entire time because they came Friday night and they got in late, so they probably got in around 10 o'. Clock. Kids were already in bed.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And I'M telling my wife. I'm telling Charl, my sweetheart. Sit up. Stand up. Like, this isn't little brother Wyatt coming to town. This is head coach of North County High School football.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Puff your chest out.
Willie Compton
Yeah. This is his first head coaching job. Like, this is. We're here and it's the alma mater. Yeah. And they come in, we do the greeting, we show them the house. I'm kind of fired up to show them the house. I'm like, come check out this room.
Sherman Young
That's sick.
Willie Compton
You see, there's a pool back there. When it gets sunny out tomorrow, you'll be able to see it. Tomorrow, we're gonna be in it. Did you bring your swimming trots? Swimming trunks. He's like, is it heated? Of course it's heated. And. But as we're all kind of winding down, having some conversation, I'm like, dude, Rue is going to be so hype. She was asking about Uncle Wyatt's asleep
Sherman Young
because it's 10 o'.
Willie Compton
Clock.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah.
Willie Compton
And I was like, I just know when we wake up in the morning. Because you know why? It can. They can sleep in. White can sleep in. He might be a nine or ten guy at times. They. He does teach, so he's got to get up throughout the week to be a teacher.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But on weekends. I know my boy. I know my little bro likes to sleep.
Sherman Young
He needs.
Willie Compton
Dude, 8:00am at the latest. Because I'm telling you right now.
Sherman Young
You told him that?
Willie Compton
Yeah, because I'm telling you right now, Rue is going to want to go in your room and wake you up.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
But he was operating. He was ready to go showered up, but it was around 8 o'. Clock. And Rue, what do you know? It got done eating breakfast. She's like, can I go wake up Uncle Wyatt? I'm like, sure, you can go back there and wake up Uncle Wyatt. Because I didn't know what he was doing. I didn't know he was, like, getting ready or if he was up and going. But Rue and Scotty loved having them. Especially Rue's got somebody new to boss around and watch her do things. And. Hey, Wyatt, Uncle Wyatt, let me tell you something. Uncle Wyatt, let me tell you something. Oh, let me show you this. Here's how you do it. Uncle White, you gotta watch. Can't get any sidebar conversations. No, Uncle Wyatt, I need you to watch. How was she with Morgan? Watch.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Loved Morgan. Love Morgan. We went to. So Saturday, we went to the farmer's market. I shot a couple photos to Derek Because I was holding. I was holding a nice burrito from Yayo's omg. Food truck that goes to Franklin Farmers Market every weekend. And I love it.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah.
Willie Compton
But Derek is the food. Food connoisseur himself.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
Mad respect for Derek and his food game. I'm sending him photos of these. The burritos that I've had around town or the food truck sitting around. We're having a little picnic on the grass. We don't have a blanket. We're having a picnic on the grass.
Sherman Young
How many food pictures have you gotten from Will? Just that burrito. Enough.
Willie Compton
Not enough. Maybe two total. Right?
Sherman Young
That burrito, though, had this cheese crust that just like. I audibly gasped. Yeah. Yeah. Cat was like, what's wrong? And I was like, this is what's wrong. And I showed her, and she's like, well, where's that? And then we got the picture of the whole. It was a vibe. It looked like a complete.
Willie Compton
It was a good vibe because Franklin Farmers Market just moved. Now they're operating wherever that was. And it was fun. So we went. We went to the farmers market. We did some grocery shopping to get ready for like a little cookout because the in laws were coming over. But it's just so nice having family around and in town. I know you have your parents in town, your family in town quite a bit. Yeah. But it's so nice because you're standing in line, you're doing all these things. But, you know, whether it's Uncle Wyatt or Morgan, like, you can kind of divide and conquer. Kids want to go out and play in that massive field. We got done getting the burritos, and you turn around and look, and the kids are just out there in the middle of the field, just boss and Uncle Wyatt around, Boston, Morgan around.
Sherman Young
And you probably can't hear anything. You just see it.
Willie Compton
Yeah. And I'm just smiling as I'm just watching. Just having a great time.
Sherman Young
Lord knows what Rue's spouting off to Wyatt.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Telling him what to do.
Willie Compton
We got these. And Charl loves to get these. Man, I hate that. I can't shut them out because I can't think of their name. But these donuts. He's like, not powdered donuts. Damn. Anyway, Charl loves getting these donuts.
Sherman Young
Some pretty good donuts. Farmers Market, Franklin Farmers Market.
Willie Compton
It's cash only. And we bring it back, back to the house and whoa. Wouldn't you know it, my father in law, Lola and Opa, they come over, but my father in law, without ask, without Asking any questions.
Sherman Young
Oh, no.
Willie Compton
Takes my chocolate covered donut that I wanted.
Sherman Young
Well, he is German. They are known for their. For their strudels, for their baking.
Willie Compton
But what's up?
Sherman Young
Donuts?
Willie Compton
The in laws coming over your parents or whatever and just thinking they have access to everything without asking permission.
Sherman Young
Did he have like a little bit on the mouth too when you were looking around?
Willie Compton
I didn't know it until I went looking for it because I started to prep the meat, get ready for steak and you know. Steak in or joking. Blowjobs.
Sherman Young
Saturday, March 14th March 14th.
Willie Compton
I had some nice steaks, but I go in and out like I know it's going to take a little bit. And I'm kind of hungry. I want a little snack. We've been swimming in the pool all day.
Sherman Young
Yeah, you're just going to provide for your family tonight and cook the whole damn meal?
Willie Compton
Yeah, I'm just going to do everything. You're.
Sherman Young
Well, you're welcome.
Willie Compton
Right now it's running through my mind and what stuff did Charlie do so I can at least wait?
Sherman Young
He's Opa, right?
Willie Compton
He's Opa.
Sherman Young
He's Opa.
Willie Compton
But I go and I'm like, oh, yeah, those donuts. I forgot about the donuts. And I go and I see the bag of donuts and I open it up and look and there's only two left. It's like a cinnamon one and then another one. Like another sugar donut. And my chocolate one's not in there. And so I go out to the pool area out back like, Charl, hey, where's my donut? And then, wouldn't you know it, Opa. Oh, I'm sorry. I ate it. And I'm thinking in my head, what. What the, bro?
Sherman Young
Oh, Opa, you spreckened my Deutsch at my house.
Willie Compton
I hit it with just a laugh and like, oh, it's all good. But I'm thinking in my head, you son of a.
Sherman Young
Hey, Opa. Hey, that reminds me.
Willie Compton
Come here, let's take a walk.
Sherman Young
Hey, you know what? Opaque. Come here.
Willie Compton
Yeah, you might. You mind coming to the pantry with me and having a word? But I sat on it. But I'm thinking, what the. Why are you just taking. You. Did you just not. Are you just opening the bag and like, he loves sweets. He loves the sweets. He loves the snacks. I'm sure there's. There's PT Sixers out there. Empty sixers. Thinking of their dad or thinking of their father. Oh, yeah, they love coming over and getting in the snack jar.
Sherman Young
Oh, yeah.
Willie Compton
They love getting in the cabinets. But I sat on it and I saved it for Rose and Thorne when we had dinner. And we go around and Rue wants everybody. Rue wants everybody to do Rose and Thorn. Because he was apologetic and was like, I should have asked. Because I'm thinking Charles has got like a half dozen. They're sick.
Sherman Young
She. She.
Willie Compton
Mama likes a couple. I just wanted a chocolate cover one, sweetheart. Just give me one chocolate cover one. So we bring them home. There's four left in the bag, but it's a fresh bag that's sitting on the island. You know what I mean? It's not like he goes in a cabinet and sees something. It's like, oh, here's some snacks. I'll get some snacks. It's a fresh bag sitting on the island. 4 left. He eats two of them, one being my chocolate covered donut. So we're sitting down there at dinner time during the cookout, and we go around roofs making everybody do Rose and Thorn. My Rose is Uncle Wyatt Morgan coming into town, seeing my little brother and getting to spend time and seeing him spend time and play with you guys. And seeing the family together. Having our in laws over having. Just having a squad.
Sherman Young
Seeing some new fresh faces around.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Daddy, what's your Thorn? My Thorn? My Thorn is Opa eating my chocolate donut. Everybody starts laughing. He's laughing, but you can tell he's laughing. But also like, oh, I can tell. Will, are you also mad? I'm thinking, yeah, Opa eating my chocolate donut. I just kind of leave it at that. I'm more so venting now that I have for the dads.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Opal might even be out there listening right now.
Sherman Young
So y' all haven't had. Y' all haven't had a follow up on the chocolate donut experience?
Willie Compton
I don't. To me, it's one of those situations where the energy being exchanged is very family friendly.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Fun.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But also in the same breath. And I think men can attest to this in the same breath. What's understood doesn't need to be said.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
So I do think that we solved a problem without talking about it.
Sherman Young
Yeah. He learned something that day.
Willie Compton
That's what men assume anyway. You assume that if I just give off a certain body language or energy, problem's gonna get solved. Yeah. Then if it comes back up, it's like, what do you mean? I kind of postured like this. You shouldn't. You saw the look in my face. Everybody else laughed with Thorn. I smiled, but I wasn't Laughing. I was looking.
Sherman Young
You had that extra little wince in. In your eyes.
Willie Compton
It was that.
Sherman Young
That lingering little look.
Willie Compton
Is that. I dare you to do it again.
Sherman Young
What was Opa's rose? Was it the.
Willie Compton
I wasn't listening to nobody else. I was just waiting for my turn to go on the rose and Thorn.
Sherman Young
Great. Are they called Ellie's Old Fashioned Donuts?
Willie Compton
Yes, Ellie's. Ellie's oldfashioned Donuts. Shout out. Shout out. Ellie's. No free shout outs. Golly. But some good family fun over the weekend.
Sherman Young
The. The one note I would give to Opa is just come clean about it, Ms. Amy. My mom.
Willie Compton
He did. He came clean. He said my. Well, when I came out to Charlie, I was like, charl. What? Where's my chocolate donut?
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
She's like, it should be in the bag. And Opa's like, oh, I. I ate it on. He might have said on accident. I can't remember.
Sherman Young
That's apologizing because you got caught, not cu. Did it. You know what I mean?
Willie Compton
You sly son of a. Opa, my
Sherman Young
mom has come in town twice. You know those little value packs of the vanilla and chocolate ice cream, like the bluebell?
Willie Compton
Yeah. She.
Sherman Young
She's completely gutted us twice when she's come in town and apologize profusely about it. I'm not a sweet tooth, so it doesn't affect me. I'm not worried about it. Right. Jill wasn't worried about it because Ms. Amy's like, I. Hey, I'm gonna.
Willie Compton
You're never worried about it until you're going to the freezer to get some ice cream and it's all gone. And you're like, honey, what happened to the ice cream?
Sherman Young
It's like, oh, yeah, my mom was
Willie Compton
in town and so, you know, I bet your mom ate it. I bet her ass did eat it.
Sherman Young
And for any listeners of the pod, they're probably sitting there thinking, oh, Reese's peanut butter cup, Valentine's Day, four times heart box. Miss Amy.
Willie Compton
I was gonna say, like, are we talking about the same mom?
Sherman Young
Is that the same mom that ate
Willie Compton
your Reese's over and over and over. Yeah. Apologize profusely, but continued to eat it
Sherman Young
over and over and over and again. Maybe I've grown callous and numb to it at this point because I'm. I'm used to that behavior and it deterred me from having a sweet tooth. Maybe a good thing. But I did get some follow up phone calls from Ms. Amy buying ice cream for us to, like, replenish.
Willie Compton
I should Just randomly text Oprah right now. Like, we don't. We. It's not like we're texting all the time. Would you send them just a random text? I can't believe you ate my chocolate donut. We're usually just talking, like if somebody's out of town or something, to work at the house. You know, you're kind of having that exchange and back.
Sherman Young
Yeah. So you have a house right now. You have a joking relationship with your father.
Willie Compton
Yes.
Sherman Young
Okay.
Willie Compton
Yes. Like I'm not mad per se. No. But I felt some type of way about that particular situation.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
I'm like, hey, I listen, I love you. I know you got a sweet tooth, but we got to have some awareness and ask a couple questions. Especially if you say you look in a donut bag and say they're all glaze.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Or say they're all the same kind. And you grab one or two. You know, you're just grabbing part of the. Part of the flock.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But you see one solo chocolate covered donut in there.
Sherman Young
Oh, that might be there for a reason. Somebody might have specifically ordered that.
Willie Compton
That's all I'm asking. Yeah, it's all I'm asking.
Sherman Young
And no, no, for dads. I think a dad hack unlocked in that moment is just get a little paper towel action. Go ahead and snag that will and hide it. I know it's your house and you don't need to be hiding in your house.
Willie Compton
Yeah. What are we talking about?
Sherman Young
What are we talking about? But we're outnumbered. We're outnumbered. The girls are going to be growing up. Stuff's gonna be vanishing and maybe you gotta fight for yourself a little bit.
Willie Compton
Yeah, I. I see what you're saying there.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah.
Willie Compton
To me, I would think of that dad hack of more of a. With your kids because they're not. They're not. They're not grown adults.
Sherman Young
That was for kids.
Willie Compton
We're talking about mature adults.
Sherman Young
Yeah. We're talking about father in laws.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're talking about father in law.
Sherman Young
You're talking about. We're not even talking about a game. We're talking about practice with father in laws.
Willie Compton
Well, this week, great weekend.
Sherman Young
Sounds like a fantastic weekend. I. I had an incredible weekend. Incredible weekend. I had a lot of fun stuff. But I did have my APR that I thought we could go over.
Willie Compton
Apr. Dad brain. I forgot my apr.
Sherman Young
No, you're fine.
Willie Compton
Go ahead, hit yours.
Sherman Young
And this is just our after pod report. I got some notes from wifey this weekend.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Got some notes from Wifey one, we're moving.
Willie Compton
Oh, you're moving.
Sherman Young
I'm moving.
Willie Compton
I thought you were talking about. Hey. Talking about continuing to rent or maybe you buy the house.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
Or pour into it and. No, we're rehabilitate the house.
Sherman Young
Great news. We're moving. My wife broke the great news to me that we're done with this rent house. We're looking for a new rent house. Our lease is up in June, so it's perfect timing here in March to start looking for some new houses. I'm very excited.
Willie Compton
So your tone and your body language is telling me this is the vibe I'm getting. You're saying we're moving. Like you're all happy. Yeah, happy. Go lucky.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
My wife said we're moving. I'm feeling that you just got told that you're moving.
Sherman Young
I certainly got told by my wonderful, beautiful wife that we're moving. That's your. Yeah. You didn't miss anything.
Willie Compton
But some of the audience might be thinking, all right, was this a team? Was this a team effort? Like, you guys are both wanting to move, or it's just all of a sudden something happened, we're getting out of this?
Sherman Young
I don't think when it's a great idea like that, I don't think there needs to be a whole lot of, like, discussion. I think she had a great idea and we're going with it.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Yeah, absolutely.
Willie Compton
How did it happen? How did this come to?
Sherman Young
I. I got a text of some mouse poop on the kitchen counter, and it followed up by a text of we're moving, which was phenomenal news. I was very excited for that.
Willie Compton
How did you respond? You say, oh, yay.
Sherman Young
I said, great win. You know what? Let me get on Zillow. And then she beat me to it and started sending me Zillow stuff of the. The new houses that we'll be moving into, which is to going great.
Willie Compton
Oh, she already did the work.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah. And some of these houses are up to 35, 45 minutes away, so I'll have a lot of time on the road. Self reflection.
Willie Compton
35, 45 minutes away. Like right now, you're a couple minutes away from the shop. Yeah.
Sherman Young
Little too close, if you. If you ask me, little too close.
Willie Compton
You could walk each day.
Sherman Young
I know, but why do that? Why run to work like Dan Gable when you can drive 35 to 45 minutes? But I'm very excited for that.
Willie Compton
I can tell. Yeah, I can tell.
Sherman Young
She segued to. She's thinking a lot about child number Two, maybe potentially trying for child number two, which I think is a. Another great idea from the wifey, because we didn't have any plans to, like, wait or anything like that, like any type of agreed on schedule or anything. So we'll try for baby number two, and then hopefully she. What I'm aiming for is she's pregnant during the move would be ideal. Deal. Third trimester, maybe nesting stage, maybe like late second trimester, when the anxiety is, like, at its peak.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
We'll try and time it out.
Willie Compton
But when their hormones have been completely hijacked. Yeah, that's the time to move.
Sherman Young
That's the time to move.
Willie Compton
So, I mean, but, hey, baby number two. New house.
Sherman Young
Baby number two and new house.
Willie Compton
Homeowner. Yep.
Sherman Young
Sherman, what are you gonna do about the mice? Don't worry, I caught it. I did take a picture this morning, but then I was like, that's a little.
Willie Compton
Little.
Sherman Young
It's a little gruesome to show on the pod, but long live the king. I'm the king of my domicile. Yet again, the mouse has been defeated. That's this morning. That's. That's hot off the press. Back to Apr, though. I got another great note from my wife that I need to work on the three Ps. Sherman, what are the three Ps? The three Ps are pupes. Poop and pee. And Jill made a great. She made a fantastic note that whenever.
Willie Compton
Poop and pee.
Sherman Young
Pubes. Poop and pee.
Willie Compton
And I'm thinking this is scarlet, but then you say pube, so then I'm not.
Sherman Young
It's not scarlet. Yeah. It's not our eight month old. So I'm like, oh, that must. Yeah, that must be me. She's talking to me. But whenever Jill goes to the bathroom, there's always one of those three Ps, like, just a little hint of it maybe. Sometimes there's a hint of two of them, and God forbid, three. So I'm working on my. She calls it house hygiene. She said I have great hygiene. Body hygiene, but I need to work on my house hygiene. And so we're working on getting the three P's taken care of.
Willie Compton
Okay, I have questions. I don't know if you guys have questions.
Sherman Young
Yeah, please, go ahead.
Willie Compton
Poop, pee and pubes.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah.
Willie Compton
So you're telling me that wifey, whenever she's going to the bathroom that you guys use together.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Or the guest room. Or the guest room bathroom, there's always
Willie Compton
one of those three little hint that is still around the toilet yes, sir. I can wrap my head around pubes out of the three.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like a couple strays. You're trimming up. You're grooming.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
You're trying to make it nicey for wifey.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Poop and pee.
Sherman Young
Yeah. You get a streak here. You get a holding scarlet while peeing there, and you chalk it up. I need to tighten the screws. I need to tighten the screws.
Willie Compton
You don't sound like a cat. Like me, whenever I get done going to the bathroom, I'm always somebody who just checks. I check the rim.
Sherman Young
Yep. If I have a blowout, God forbid.
Willie Compton
God forbid. I have a blowout.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
The back of the bowl up underneath the seat. I always lift and kind of see what's going on. Because I'm personally, like, I'd be siding with Jill on this one.
Sherman Young
Oh, certainly. This. The. You remember that note that you gave on my first news of the moving? And you're like, you look this way, but you sound this way.
Willie Compton
Remind me look this way, but sound this way.
Sherman Young
When I was jokingly excited about moving.
Willie Compton
Oh, yeah.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Okay.
Willie Compton
Just a few minutes ago.
Sherman Young
Just a few minutes. Okay. This one's actually a good note. This one's actually a good note that I should work on.
Willie Compton
Oh, on the apr. This is feedback you've gotten. And you're like, yeah, you know what? You're right.
Sherman Young
And. And the. In the note, I told myself, and maybe this could help a dad out. There is when I'm at work or I am at someone's house, someone else's house, and I go to the bathroom. I do have, like, a very OCD nature about myself. Of. I do not want to be. Because I also have the reputation around here of, oh, Sherman blows it up. Sherman blows it up.
Willie Compton
Yeah. When. When. When decat one yesterday. And he had to go. He. All he was trying to do is find the plunger. But in that time of finding the plunger, somebody came in. There is like, oh, who didn't flush the toilet? What the fuck? But everybody's immediate reaction was, who do you think it was? I bet it was Sherman.
Sherman Young
Oh, and they. They would have.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Like, yeah, there's no notes there. Now, do I. Do I leave my stuff around? Absolutely not. Do I blow it up?
Willie Compton
For sure.
Sherman Young
But now I need to get in the mental mind space of, hey, when I'm pooping and peeing at my house, I'm actually at somebody else's house. Yeah.
Willie Compton
Because if there was poop, pee, or pubes in the guest bathroom, and I knew you just used it.
Sherman Young
You'd think I'm a psychopath. I would never get an invite back.
Willie Compton
No, no, no. You get invited back. But there'd be a nice. We'd have a nice laugh.
Sherman Young
Maybe a tweet.
Willie Compton
Yeah, Maybe a walk and talk and walk and talk and laugh a little bit.
Sherman Young
Opa. Sherman, come here. Come here.
Willie Compton
You just use the toilet?
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
I thought so. Hey, let's go take a walk as
Sherman Young
you're flipping the steaks from the grill. Hey, Sherman, did you use the guest room 45 minutes ago? Yeah, yeah, Yeah, I thought so.
Willie Compton
Put your hand over this grill. Yeah, you like that? You feel hot. That is. Imagine your face on it.
Sherman Young
Sherman, do you know how to test the internal temperature of a steak without even touching it? Give me your hand. Put your pointer finger and your thumb together. Feel that. Squeeze that. That's medium rare.
Willie Compton
Nice dad hack right there. Nice grill hack.
Sherman Young
You get all the way to the pinky. Yeah, that's well done.
Willie Compton
Tell. Tell the dads. Tell any new young dads out there that might not be savvy on the grill, what you're talking about.
Sherman Young
I believe medium.
Willie Compton
We'll work on this together. Yeah, because I gotta work through it too.
Sherman Young
I don't think it's rare. Medium rare. Medium well done. Pointer finger rare.
Willie Compton
Yeah, this is. This is rare.
Sherman Young
Second finger, middle. Medium rare, medium rare. Medium, medium, well done. Well, another good thing for medium rare, when the juices start to come out
Willie Compton
of the steak, that's a good.
Sherman Young
Very, very good telltale sign that you have a medium rare steak.
Willie Compton
Yes. Yeah. Great call there, chef. His name is. His nickname isn't Chef for no reason.
Sherman Young
It's literally chef.
Willie Compton
But that right there. Rare.
Sherman Young
Yep.
Willie Compton
Index finger, middle finger. Medium rare, medium rare.
Sherman Young
Boom.
Willie Compton
Medium, medium. Pinky is well done. Yes. So you're grabbing and you feel the. The toughness on you on this little pad right here on your thumb. That's what you should be feeling if you grab the steak.
Sherman Young
Unless it's a filet, then. If it's a filet, you need to be. It's gonna be a little more tender. You need to be a little more careful on. On using the touch. I would go much more in a look for the juices to rise and.
Willie Compton
Yeah, just a small thing, but if you don't have that foundational education, you shouldn't be getting around to filet, in my opinion.
Sherman Young
Probably not.
Willie Compton
You're going filet. You know. You know a thing or two about some steaks, and as you have me
Sherman Young
leaned over the grill, you get to. Well done. You go.
Willie Compton
And that's what you're gonna be.
Sherman Young
If my guest bath ever has another peel.
Willie Compton
Yeah. On it again, you put a little stain.
Sherman Young
You're gonna be well done.
Willie Compton
Good apr. Good feedback from your wife. I'm glad she communicated that way.
Sherman Young
Yes. Communication's key, Will.
Willie Compton
So I had a couple apr. Dad brain moments last week. Pretty much immediately within the hour of the episode releasing. Oh, not an hour. Within the first two hours of the episode releasing. Last week.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
I got a. I got a phone call. It wasn't just feedback through a text. It was a phone call.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And the first question was. Because what we do. Last week we celebrated Scotty turning six months old. I forget if I said it the day you're listening or if it was the day we were recording the 10th or 11th.
Sherman Young
It was six months, right?
Willie Compton
Six months. Okay.
Sherman Young
I'm just helping you. I thought it was something.
Willie Compton
Wife calls me and first thing said, I'm like, hey, sweetheart. She goes, do you know your daughter's birthday?
Sherman Young
Oh.
Willie Compton
And I was like,
Sherman Young
Which daughter? Yeah, honey.
Willie Compton
I was like, oh, I got that wrong, didn't I? She's like, how do you not know? You like, you only have two kids. And they're young, it's early. It's not like they're grown up. And you kind of forget when their birthday could be. How do you forget when Scotty's birthday is? Oh, sweetheart, it ain't even like that. Like in my brain. It's like a waterfall system. Rue is April 3, 2022. So 4, 3, 2. And then with Scotty, I go 11. I think it's 11:10, but I need to flip it. Rue is descending. Scotty is ascending. So Scotty turned six months on November 12th. Or okay, March 12th. Great. Not March 10th. I forget. Look, that brain. I forget what I even said.
Sherman Young
Wait, hold on, hold on.
Willie Compton
The 12th, okay.
Sherman Young
The 12th day is the correct.
Willie Compton
November 12th is her birthday, is her
Sherman Young
day of birth March.
Willie Compton
But March 12th is when she turned 16 months old.
Sherman Young
16 months old.
Willie Compton
I just confused everybody because I think I said six.
Sherman Young
And I was like, she was really good at dinner for a six month old. And I just was. That's why I asked you six and you looked back at me and said yes.
Willie Compton
Dad brain.
Sherman Young
Dad brain.
Willie Compton
Dad report.
Sherman Young
I. I gotta be completely honest. After everything you just went over, I do not know, after everything that you just said, what your daughter's birthday is or how old she is.
Willie Compton
Scotty is 16 months old. She turned 16 months old on March 12th.
Sherman Young
Okay.
Willie Compton
Her birthday.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Her day of birth when she came into this world.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And dad and mama were smiling at her.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
That was on November 12th.
Sherman Young
Okay.
Willie Compton
So I got the day off. APR number two. This is an interesting one because we open up every episode. I hope your trash is taken out. Big trash day, guy. We are in a new house. So we're in a new area. We're in a new environment.
Sherman Young
Oh, I forgot about this.
Willie Compton
I missed trash a couple we. Or a few weeks ago. Listening now. And I know this mailman's out there listening. He's a PT sicko. But you know how a few weeks ago, I stood in solidarity with a gentleman who called in and said, I forgot to take out the trash? Like me.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
So I stood in solidarity with him. Like, the next time I had to take out trash, I. I stood in solidary. I forgot to take out the trash, but I stood in solidarity.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Shortest voicemail. And before the dad's history. Yeah.
Willie Compton
Yeah. So the next week, I take out the trash. Remember I did a little walk and talk video as I'm walking down to the driveway? It was kind of nighttime out.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Walk the trash bins out. Trash is taken out.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
So that trash day happens the next week. My wife takes out the trash. This is. We are now at last week when I'm getting this APR report.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Because trash day for us is on Wednesdays. Episode drops on Wednesdays. Mailman comes on Wednesday. Mailman comes every day, but he comes. But he comes on Wednesday days when
Sherman Young
he comes on with.
Willie Compton
He comes up to the door. Yeah.
Sherman Young
Because your mailbox isn't at your door. Well, no, it's at the street down
Willie Compton
at the bottom of the driveway. He comes up to the door, and I could butcher the details here, but essentially knocks, Char answers, and he delivers our mail. So he know when he sees. He sees old Willie. One shelf on there.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
He's a PT sixer. He's a PT sicko.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And he goes, I can tell your husband. I can tell your husband is having trouble setting up the trash outside. And he goes, basically, you know how I knew that you did it today?
Sherman Young
Oh, my God.
Willie Compton
Because I didn't do it last week either. My wife did it. Because she texted me something about the trash. I'm like, that's why we're a team, baby. And he goes, because I knew it was your husband. Because when he put out the trash bins, he had them both right next to each other, touching. Which is a no, no. If you wanted him to be able to Lift the bins up and put them in the trash.
Sherman Young
Yep.
Willie Compton
It's a good note.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Need to separate them for, you know, a few inches, whatever it is.
Sherman Young
And this is the mailman. This is not the trash man giving game, right?
Willie Compton
Correct this. The mailman.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And he put the trash cans in front of the mailbox.
Sherman Young
Oh.
Willie Compton
So technically, he might not be allowed to put the mail into where he's got to come up to the door. He's like. But just wanted to give that note. I knew it was you today because everything was placed perfectly at the end of the driveway. So I have some work to do. Shout out the mailman that runs through our. That runs through our area. He's a PT sicko.
Sherman Young
Yes, he is.
Willie Compton
He's looking out for his boy.
Sherman Young
Does he have a first name? Do we want to shout out?
Willie Compton
I don't know his first name.
Sherman Young
Oh, okay.
Willie Compton
I don't know. I don't know if he gave it to Charo.
Sherman Young
We'll get on that.
Willie Compton
If he gave it to Char and Charlotte and tell me his first name. Maybe I need to keep an eye on the mailman at home.
Sherman Young
My dream, when you initially told the very brief story because you didn't want to spoil it for the pod, My dream is that your mailman is a guest on for the Dads. Eventually.
Willie Compton
One day, buddy. I've been having these thoughts on guests because I know people love when we have guests. Well, we've only had Taylor on, but I know people would love to hear from other guests. We do want to do that. We thought it was very. We love the whole. The. The community, the language, everything that we're doing on for the Dash.
Sherman Young
It's a lot of fun.
Willie Compton
We've also been in talks for months now about having a guest list. Yeah. We don't want it to go consecutive guests rolling out week after week after week to where it becomes a guest centric show. But when we do have guests on, like, who are the guests going to be? We want Chicago Cubs Anthony Rizzo. We want Rizzo. We want Dan Gable. We love a Greg Olson.
Sherman Young
Greg Olson.
Willie Compton
Sal Frisella.
Sherman Young
Yeah, he's the first on there. Luke Combs or Matt Stafford.
Willie Compton
Matt Stafford. Luke Combs. Like, these are Bob Odenkirk. Yeah, these are bigger. Yes, bro. He would be phenomenal. Would love that. Any dad that I've seen doing podcasts to where it's like a dad clip for content. I want, though. I love people who want to just talk dad life.
Sherman Young
Get them.
Willie Compton
However, another part of me was like, the mailman. There's a cat. There's a, there's a. There's a PT sixer.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
That operates the. This flower farm we went to over the weekend.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And you can pull up the Instagram so that way the, the, the photo, the screenshot can be on the screen because it's not coming to mind. Farmer Sean.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But just salt of the earth dads.
Sherman Young
Could not agree more. I want. I want some dads on here.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Some dads I don't want. It's a dad show. Doesn't have to be some name of some status.
Sherman Young
No. I.
Willie Compton
And a sicko that's out there that we sit there and communicate with all the time that writes in, that does all these things. Like, would love to have just dads.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
On the pod.
Sherman Young
No one you just named fits this category. I just want to throw that out there. But like, we're it. We don't want like pretty perfect picture of dad for every single guest. We want some dads.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
I want a guy in the trenches. It's got a little blood and a little dirt on his face because he's got four under four at home and
Willie Compton
he's just got some good stories. Like, we're not out here chasing numbers. We do encourage everybody to subscribe. If you haven't subscribed, please make sure you subscribe. Follow on all of our audio channels. But it's not like when we look at guests, we don't want to just chase what numbers could be.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
We just want some good old fashioned dad combos where dads come in, have an Olipop with us, and they're co hosting the show with us. They're not. We're not sitting here and they're sitting on the other side and we're interviewing them. It's like how Taylor ran it where he was a co host. Yeah. A guest host of for the Dads.
Sherman Young
Yeah, I think that would be awesome. I want some guys that they deep grunt when they get up out of a chair.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Any question you ask them, no matter how easy to answer, there's always a ball cap off and scratch your head and go, oh, shit. I mean.
Willie Compton
Yeah, you know what? Let me call my wife and make sure this story's right.
Sherman Young
Yeah, let me. Hey, what'd you do this weekend?
Willie Compton
Whatever she told me to.
Sherman Young
I mean, whatever. Whatever my wife told me to. I just shut my mouth.
Willie Compton
Yeah. I go where she wants to also.
Sherman Young
I just. I just unlocked a memory from yesterday because I tried to block it out up. We're talking about apr. Got a nice little phone call from my wife that I love. I love you, Jilly Bean. Around 5:15 or. No, no, it was 5:26. It was 5:26. And she said, are you still at the office? I said, I sure am. We had a late recording. She said, who's picking up Scarlet? I said, that's a great note, honey. I'll go do that.
Willie Compton
I'll go pick up our daughter. Great question.
Sherman Young
Great question. Because. Oh, yeah, Monday, Wednesday, Friday is my days. I go pick up our daughter and if I don't do it before 6 o', clock, we get hit with the fee. That was a great note by my wife. Forgot. Forgot to go pick up Scarlet. I did get there before 6, though. 5:58.
Willie Compton
If not, you get a fee.
Sherman Young
Just.
Willie Compton
You just tell them charge it to the. For the dad.
Sherman Young
Put it on the dab. Put it on the dab.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
And yes, also future. Future note. I was not being held at gunpoint here at the office. That was more. So we just had a late recording day and I like, literally forgot and
Willie Compton
did that happens to me because we were doing George Kittle.
Sherman Young
Yes, it was George Kittle. And it's like, this is a huge pod. This is fun. It ran late because it ran like, it wasn't like, right, Right when Luke
Willie Compton
Combs was on, I had to skid that on. I was like, hey, I hate to do this. I have to leave.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
So I got to get home by a certain time and I was running late and I'm sitting there texting. That's when I was venmoing my nanny. Just Venmo to a hundred dollars. Yeah. I'm sorry. Put on the deck.
Sherman Young
Yeah. And yeah, that was a bone chilling phone call. Jill actually went very easy on me. But at the hospital, she cannot leave. Like, there's actual, like rules and parameters around that leaving during a shift. So it's literally up to me. And that's how we want it though, papa. That's how we want it. Good. Yes. But that phone call was so funny, dude. Of her just. Who's picking up our daughter?
Willie Compton
Good question. I think it's me today. It is you today. Good.
Sherman Young
I forgot an even better apron. We had a fantastic episode last week where we talked about steak and blowjob day.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Multiple times. Found out from our lovely women at daycare. And shout out Ms. Angela and Ms. Crystal because they're great. Ms. Crystal found our podcast last week when she was. She was on Spotify.
Willie Compton
The first. The first episode. She consumed before the dads. Your daycare lady found for the dads last week.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
When we were promoing.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
March 14th.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Nice.
Sherman Young
It's a great combo with her. It's fantastic. I said, how did it. I'm legitimately kind of curious. How did you come across it on Spotify? And she was like, it was on my suggested, and there was a picture of you. And I was like, what in the world? And y'.
Willie Compton
All. I think I know that guy.
Sherman Young
Y' all just released this episode.
Willie Compton
What you think?
Sherman Young
Oh, when was it? When was that? Oh, on Thursday. Oh, good.
Willie Compton
Yeah. So was it last week's episode or a different one got suggested.
Sherman Young
Oh, good. Yeah. Y' all were, like, super excited about stuff. Y'. All. Y' all are like, it. It seemed funny. Like, it seemed cool. I was like, yeah, good.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Grab Scarlett as fast as I could and was out of there.
Willie Compton
That's a tough spot to be in.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Especially any new listener that came in last week. Yeah. Interesting one to come. Fun. I hope you all laughed and had a great time.
Sherman Young
How did. Do we want to recap really quick before we get into all this stuff? Do you want to touch on your March 14? Because I saw the stakes that you cooked. I'm. I'm saying plural. You cooked enough to feed an army. You had an army at your house.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
So you came through with the steaks. How did. How was.
Willie Compton
Steak day was a plus. Steak day was a plus.
Sherman Young
Steak day. Yeah, buddy. I'm not even gonna sit here and. And act and pretend. Steak day was good for me too. Steak day was good for me, too.
Willie Compton
I thought it was a joke. I mean, it is a joke, but.
Sherman Young
But I don't know. I just cook up this steak, and then, you know, we're watching the movie, and then the movie ends, and then the lights are off, and I'm sitting there. I'm like, okay, she's really milking it now.
Willie Compton
She's really milky. Did you have a great day today? Yeah, I did. It feels incomplete.
Sherman Young
I did have a good day. Is it about to get better? I don't know. We're about to go to bed.
Willie Compton
Yeah, we are.
Sherman Young
Let's just say fluff the sheet just a little bit.
Willie Compton
Let's just say it ended.
Sherman Young
And
Willie Compton
I had my mouth tape on, and I was just facing. I was facing waffle
Sherman Young
and waffle. The bulldog just in the corner. We tried.
Willie Compton
Hey, we had fun.
Sherman Young
We did our best, and we had fun. You guys got people.
Willie Compton
That's what I'm saying. Just so you know, I Still think
Sherman Young
we impact championed a lot of people's lives that day that we got emails and comments about. Good. You did the Lord's work.
Willie Compton
We impacted others.
Sherman Young
I'm being so serious because like this is a joke but that did thank you for that silver lining because if anybody did get their pipe smoked via ftd, hell yeah. Hell yeah.
Willie Compton
I wanted to do like videos on it. I was like prepping my steak and I want to do a video of how to prep the meat. We're joking.
Sherman Young
You're posting Will did. I don't know the name and this is not a bit but while going through the four that that's phone your post did get reposted and shared to the story of a a female movie star of that category then championed it. I'll see if I can find it. I did not recognize the name off first guess but there was a. A story attachment of your post into a a porn stars Instagram story. Who was saying well I guess it is official.
Willie Compton
I was thinking like Hollywood movie star.
Sherman Young
That's a different part of Hollywood. It's like a different angle.
Willie Compton
Yeah, they make shows. I legitimately was gonna be like, dude, we gotta find out. Oh my God.
Sherman Young
Maybe it's like Anna de Armas or something.
Willie Compton
For the boys.
Sherman Young
I see ya Eagle Tommy.
Willie Compton
I did see that the post had way more shares than it did likes. Just the secret work was being done.
Sherman Young
Some absolute goon beret demons
Willie Compton
and SE Team Sixes were on that. They're like finally these guys just sit there and cry and they're like, oh, I love my cane. My cane. Oh my God.
Sherman Young
Just for reference, the post has. I mean it did well. It has 163k views. OK. 4,000 likes, 31 comments, 43 reposts, 12,000 sense. Oh good. Oh good.
Willie Compton
We made an impact. So that's how my March 14th we.
Sherman Young
We have daughters, we have wives. And we think women are absolutely incredible.
Willie Compton
We do.
Sherman Young
And we celebrate them.
Willie Compton
We do celebrate them into the 12,000.
Sherman Young
12 point. 12.6.
Willie Compton
Hey, I'll tell you this. We ain't running on on April 14th. We're holding the line, buddy.
Sherman Young
If you think PT6 is going to retreat on April. April 14th.
Willie Compton
If it did, if it didn't happen for you, April 14th is the time to show the example of what the celebration looks like.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Show them what March 14's all about and hopefully the, you know, most of our house will be boxed up by then. That'll be perfect.
Willie Compton
Yeah. I hope you're. No, no, no, no. I hope you Extend your lease and Jill is pushing third trimester, and then that's when you decide to move. Okay, I think that's optimal.
Sherman Young
Yeah, that's optimal.
Willie Compton
Moving when your wife is going on a third trimester.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we'll just be celebrating the news of.
Willie Compton
I hope that your closing date and due date are the exact same day. Oh, that would be good.
Sherman Young
Yeah, that would be good. Yeah. We got to find a way to time that out, go month to month.
Willie Compton
Should we shout out some comments? Got a lot of comments. We got to get through. We have a lot that we get to do. Not get through. That we get to do. What am I talking about?
Sherman Young
Do we want to hit our recap ones first?
Willie Compton
Recap comments. We should have probably hit those at the top. Wills apr. Scotty's birthday is not 11:11. All right, Josh Nelson on Spotify submitted stake and BJ Day. This is Josh Nelson on Spotify submitted steak and BJ day to the joint calendar. Wife conducted a tactical edit to peanut noodles. And peanut noodles. And.
Sherman Young
There you go.
Willie Compton
Not the mission we planned, but the mission we got.
Sherman Young
Hey, there we go.
Willie Compton
There we go.
Sherman Young
A little shock wave never hurt you.
Willie Compton
Never.
Sherman Young
I have Jonah Kearns who's riding in from our wonderful MT sicko. And I forget her name. Caitlin. A bear. See, that's why we put it on the shelf. Let's go. Caitlin wrote in and said, you want to have a boy. No eye contact.
Willie Compton
Okay.
Sherman Young
Jonah had a follow up on that. Jonah Kearns on Spotify said, I think when she says, don't look me in the eyes, she means a certain position named after a canine.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Good note from Jonah. Good note. New dads, new dads. Got one here from Lyle Styler on Spotify. What's up, boys? Wifey has been induced for the past 24 hours. Hopefully we meet our little girl soon. Pray for us. Also, the pull out recliner bed has a bar in the middle of my back. Good. Love y' all, boys. Dude. Congratulations, Lyle. Congratulations. I hope everything went well. I hope mama and baby are healthy. I love that you went through. I love that you went through the suck with the recliner.
Sherman Young
And I gotta hear that first and last of the game because it was superb.
Willie Compton
Lyle Styler.
Sherman Young
Lyles.
Willie Compton
It's either Lyle Styler or Lyles Tyler.
Sherman Young
Oh, I see.
Willie Compton
They're mesh. There's no space. Okay, okay, so just taking a guess.
Sherman Young
No, I. I just thought the last name Styler was so sick if it. If it's maybe Tyler.
Willie Compton
So now it seems like he's Gonna.
Sherman Young
What are you doing? Also dad pad. Did you see the dad pad that's getting kicked around?
Willie Compton
The dad pad.
Sherman Young
It's this like, travel mattress built specifically to the measurement of a hospital pull out couch.
Willie Compton
No.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Dude, why didn't we think of that?
Sherman Young
I know.
Willie Compton
Because we're idiots.
Sherman Young
Well, here's the good news.
Willie Compton
We are.
Sherman Young
Here's this. Hey, we are dumb. We are dumb. But we're smart enough to see that product. And Jeremy Glum said maybe a collab.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
I have this room. Jordan Minkoff on Spotify. This is New Dads boys. Been listening to for the dad since my wife and I found out she was pregnant with our baby boy last July. Ooh. Let's go, Jordan. Listening to the new episode in the hospital as we just welcome in our little guy yesterday and have officially joined pt6. I also have an elite dad hack from our stay. I ordered. I ordered a product called the dad Pad. I really did not mean to do that. I only read the first portion. Are you being super serious? I swear to God, I only read your transition. That was. That's unreal.
Willie Compton
Great transition.
Sherman Young
Like we. Like we said, natural. We're idiots.
Willie Compton
So we stumble forward, we fall forward.
Sherman Young
That's pure luck. The dad bag, which is a sleeping pad, got to fit hospital couches two nights in. And my new dad back is feeling good. Excited to take everything I've learned from this pod into dad life. Let's go, Jordan.
Willie Compton
Jordan, congratulations. Rue is turning 4 next month. And I said it on the recent episodes. I'm going to say it every week until she turns four and I'm say it. It makes me sad.
Sherman Young
Do it.
Willie Compton
But here's what I want to tell Jordan. The new dads, Lyle or Lyles, enjoy every moment.
Sherman Young
Yeah, dude.
Willie Compton
It's going to be hard. It's going to suck a lot.
Sherman Young
Yep.
Willie Compton
But it is the greatest responsibility you can ever have in your life.
Sherman Young
Life.
Willie Compton
And enjoy every moment. And I'll break more of this down when Rude does turn four, because I just. I like to reflect on. I like to reflect on all that stuff. Yeah, but they're here for us in this early phase, man.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Yeah. They're here for us to enjoy. To lay a foundation to five through eight, then nine through 15 and so on and so on.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And there's a new iteration. We read that little lesson last week. There's a new iteration of your child when it's that young, every day. Then it's week to week. It's a new kid, month to Month. Don't think of it in terms of years, especially before. In those first two years, man, every month there's a different version of your kid. Every month you have four weekends. Yeah, four weekends.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
To make the most of in the first two years, two summers, two falls, two winters, two of each holiday, dude. Enjoy everything that you can. Soak it up as much as you can, man.
Sherman Young
Take a lot of photos and videos.
Willie Compton
Yes. Because time flies.
Sherman Young
Lyle Styles a little spoiler for any non parents out there. Spoiler. Spoiler. At the eight month mark, dude, I went back and looked at like first week videos and all that stuff, and I cried. You're just gonna. You're Lyles.
Willie Compton
You're gonna do it.
Sherman Young
You're gonna cry.
Willie Compton
Scotty, when she didn't have hair for those photos pop up on her little digital frame. Always a great gift to have a great product to have around the house. One of those digital frames that kind of runs through your album. And you just look at, and I just see little Scotty Joe. She's 16 months. She's still our little. She's still our little baby. She's our youngest baby right now. And you just see those old photos, bro. And it just. It's such a reminder that everything is so fleeting.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like, we're having full conversations with Rue. Like, her curiosity is off the charts. The things she wants to do, she wants to operate more and more independently every day.
Sherman Young
She. She's a little girl. Yeah, she's a little girl now for sure.
Willie Compton
Yeah. She's getting heavier as I'm holding her.
Sherman Young
Like, I.
Willie Compton
The mortality of she's not gonna want me to hold her soon. I don't know when that happens. Like, I was gonna Google it, but I'm sure parents out there probably have their own stories of when they're maybe their last time that they remember or what age it kind of stops happening. But I can just tell, like, as I pick her up, she's getting heavier. One day, she's gonna not want me to hold her. And that day now is so much sooner than what I thought. And when I'm in the suck, and you're thinking, she can't walk. I have to pick her up. Or she can't, you know, she can't stand up. Yeah, she's only crawling or she can walk a little bit. I kind of got to be around her all the time. Let me just pick her up here. And it feels. It feels in those moments that it's like a nuisance that you're picking them up. Those Those moments are going to happen.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But just, dude, enjoy it as much as you can. And like our. Our buddy said when he called in when Taylor was on.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like, the. Wait until this. Wait. Just wait. Just wait. Yeah, no, be there now and fucking love it, bro.
Sherman Young
Can I show you a picture really quick? That kind of ties into this.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
I won't go into, like a full fledged story, but we had our first big thunderstorm over. Was it Monday night or no Sunday night? Yeah.
Willie Compton
A couple of nights ago.
Sherman Young
And, dude, Scarlett was scared and she was crying and it was so cute to. The lightning would strike. Like. Like, you would see the lightning flash and then you would just hear on the monitor.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
And Jill was like, go get her, Go get her. Or maybe she got her. I can't remember, but I took. Chef, I sent it to you. I took that picture in the morning of what I woke up to, dude. And I was just like, I love
Willie Compton
this, man, because that's the best. Like, even when the storms happened. Pardon me. The other night. Was wondering if Scotty or Ru was gonna wake up and we'd have to get him. Get him to the bed because part of me kind of, like, loves it. Oh, the golden. Sleeping in the bed with us.
Sherman Young
Because we don't do the bed a whole lot at this age.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, we don't either. Yeah, yeah, we don't either. And just like sleeping independent, like, that's the route we chose to go.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And so when we do sleepovers and everything else, like, I'm just obsessed.
Sherman Young
When I got.
Willie Compton
When I got Rue in the bed.
Sherman Young
Oh.
Willie Compton
Because they're obviously young. Like, even with Scotty now. We haven't done a sleepover or anything with Scotty because she's still operating like, mo around. You get a little nervous. Obviously. The safe sleeping same. Yeah.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But I'm always excited, like, when Rue is coming up, I'm just like, hey, when. When can we start to where she's, like, sleeps in her bed? Like, I just want to cuddle them, dude.
Sherman Young
The little. There was one point in the night, too, that she had right hand hooked around mom's pinky and left hand hook hooked around dad's thumb. Just. Just both of them up like this and. And just. Just passed out, dude. And the.
Willie Compton
The little binkies going, it's the cutest way possible, dude.
Sherman Young
And you just want to squish him.
Willie Compton
You want to suffocate them.
Sherman Young
You want to suffocate.
Willie Compton
Like.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
The love that urges inside your body is almost like it's crazy primal where you're like I could kill you. I love you so badly.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And dude, she's starting to giggle too on the neck kisses. I don't even do neck kisses. Really. I just with my tongue just go like, like on her neck and just that little. Oh dude. Play it on repeat. Yeah, I just need a playlist.
Willie Compton
Make sure you get some recordings of that, whether it's voice recordings or video. Buddy, buddy.
Sherman Young
Jill's on that game. Jill's on that game.
Willie Compton

20 off your first purchase. As far as we kind of touched on our dad losses already. Do we want to go into our favorite segment? Crack a cold one?
Willie Compton
I do. Before we get off the dead losses, I do have a dad loss here. Oh, from Autism Miller. This is an email of a dad loss. Thank you all so much. I Finally got my PT6 shirt. Second from the left. We do have a photo of the dads. PT6ers repping the papa team six shirts again. BWTB.com I have an amazing village now that I'm the last of our group to have a little one. I have a baby boy on the way and all the way on the left. Him and his wife are having twin boys shortly after me and my wife wife. I am blessed with my PT6 shirt. I had my. I had my paper party on March 14th. Ooh. And my friend group came through with plenty of diapers and gifts and I'm super grateful. This podcast has been a blessing for all four of us and we were just having a great time supporting each other. Brothers for life. Tommy is a girl dad with twin boys on the way. Austin boy on the way. That's me, Darren. Two girl dads. JP Girl dad. Love you guys. Keep up the great one. Work. This was under the dad lost one.
Sherman Young
So it's dad loss and dad wins. You should have said dad win. And also, it should just be Austin Miller. That is a typo. I apologize. Sher, what does yours say? Dad lost or dad win? Dad. Dad. Wayne covered by dad loss. I have a dad loss here. To that. I. I apologize. That's okay. It is. It is Austin Miller. That is a typo. I. I want to put out an apology because. Will, you are Rod Burgundy. You read the note about Scarskar. After talking about the story of Scarskar, you read Autism Miller instead of. Instead of Austin. Austin. I'm sorry to you, Will.
Willie Compton
I just confidently. I saw it, and I'm like, hey, if that's his name.
Sherman Young
Austin Derek. If it makes you feel any better, I truly like.
Willie Compton
But it's not like One Letter Song. It's spelled.
Sherman Young
It does say Autism Miller. It does.
Willie Compton
And I thought I was reading the dad laws got Dad L. We got a dad loss here. Ready to Dallas. I'm like, this sounds like a pretty good story. He's got the boys together. They're all having kids. That's a dub. That's a crack. A cold one.
Sherman Young
That's a crack. I. Okay, really quick note for Derek.
Willie Compton
Derek coming in. Hey, I just. Hey. I'm sorry. I just.
Sherman Young
Derek. To put a nice piece of bread on the sandwich. That is Autism Miller. Every time when I get in Dropbox, dude, and I go to the voicemails, every single time in my head, I'm like, I. I know they're gonna be there. There's no question. And they're all gonna rip. And I just never questioned that. So I just wanted you to hear that. I had that thought this morning. Oh, I'm sorry. No, you rip. You rip. I have a dad loss here. It's a. It's an Aaron email.
Willie Compton
Willie Burgundy. Willie. Oh, Willie Burgundy.
Sherman Young
You put on the property to read it.
Willie Compton
Literally. Wait. Oh, Scotty's birthday was wrong.
Sherman Young
Okay. Yeah.
Willie Compton
Know who wrote that one in? Oh, there's no name on. I think that was just a reminder.
Sherman Young
Take. Take sip of ollipop. Oh, Fellas. For the first time in my adult life, I forgot to take out the trash. Oh. This is Aaron's first time. So we. First time offender. Let's see. Let's see what he says.
Willie Compton
Does.
Sherman Young
To make matters worse, it was also recycling week. Ours only comes and Picks up every other week, bro. That's two weeks or what. Four weeks of recycling.
Willie Compton
That's a month that he's got. He misses one.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Recycling is every other week.
Sherman Young
Yeah. He said biggest dad fail for me in recent memory. But guess what he said at the end.
Willie Compton
Good. Good.
Sherman Young
So Aaron style you up.
Willie Compton
Good. You get the feedback and you try to get better.
Sherman Young
PT Sickos mount Sickos and Goomb alike. Welcome to the one and only ad. Read that we are going to break away from the episode to talk to you about Olipop. They send in these hats. We talked about a little bit on the sod. They sent in Shirley temps. We're talking about the OG Mocktail Shirley Tempest full. Okay. It's got the hiss, it's got the crack. Does it have the punch? Which is a question you should never ask yourself before you take a sip. Olip. Because it's a given. It packs a punch. Every single sip, every single flavor. OOP knocked it out of the park with the Shirley Temple. It's been a minute since I've had the Shirley Temple. I've been sipping on some other flavors of late, and that sip may have just brought me back. Guys, you can get a Shirley Temple. You can buy two cans of Ollipop, two cans of these Shirley Temple Olipops in store, and Ollipop will pay you back for one. It works on any flavor at any retailer. So even this little Shirley Temple, you buy it in store. You then go to drinkolipop.com BWTB for more information on getting that payback. Olipop is sold online at drinkolipop.com/Amazon and available in the soda aisle and with the chilled beverages at thousands of retailers nationwide, including Walmart and Target. Go drink some Olipop and if they sell them, go get one of these hats because I honestly love it. And Olipop, thank you so much for sending these hats. These are really dope. And they came at the perfect time because it is St Patrick's Day and we got a little green going on. Back to the episode. They also. We mentioned it before and we're. I'm wearing a hat currently right now.
Willie Compton
You are. I love that hat.
Sherman Young
Olipop was kind enough to send our office some hat. Jeff has one as well. Hell and crack. A cold one, as always, brought to us by Olipop. We got some tasty treats here, some tasty snacks. Absolutely prebiotic. And just listen to it, dude. And this is one of my favorites, orange cream. Willie, do you want to kick us off for crack A cold one.
Willie Compton
My cracker cold one. I was alluding to it. It was basically my rose of the weekend sitting down at dinner. It was my brother coming to town. Joy, bro. Joy was in my heart the whole time.
Sherman Young
Can you. Can you break down just really quick? Is Wyatt more of your personality, or is he a little different from you? What. What is that? Brotherly relationship or different?
Willie Compton
Wyatt is just so easy to hang out with.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Not that, like, my dad and Cody aren't. They are as well. But Wyatt, him just being the youngest, I guess. I don't know. I feel like he.
Sherman Young
He's got that air about him, that energy.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, we both. We always have, like, good conversations. I'm never nervous to ask him any question about, like, what's going on. I always feel like I'm trying to give him advice, but I'm also trying to keep myself from giving too much advice. You know what I mean? Because I care about him, and he's just easy to be around. I don't know.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
I feel like everybody in my family would say that about Wyatt. Like, he's just. He's easy to go with the flow. Yeah. He loves anything, like, he. That he's involved with and he's doing. He, like, loves what he does. Now that he's the head football coach of North County, I can tell he takes a lot of great pride in being the head coach of North County. Like, he's very excited. And me, like, I'm, like, you know, trying to get in the weeds of, like, what are you thinking? Like, do you have a plan? What's the vision?
Sherman Young
Like, you're still big brother.
Willie Compton
I'm still, like, big bro. And I'll feel myself when I'm being too much of big bro.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And then just, like, watching them around my girl, like, around my daughters. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, operating with the family. Conversations that me, Charl, him, and Morgan will sit there late at night. Like, we were playing games one night where we were playing Clue and code names. We're having conversations because they're both teachers. We're asking about, like, the school system and how it is now. Like, what are the kids like, all the drama that goes on in their world at school. School and teaching. Just easy to be around, man. And again, I don't see them often.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like, it always feels like we're all connected, because I know why. Like, White watches this show. Shout out Wyatt, who is listening to this show right now.
Sherman Young
Come on, Wyatt.
Willie Compton
And he's even said, like, this has become, like, his favorite show to listen to in the bus and verse and even all the other pods that he listens to. He loves watching this one or listening to this one.
Sherman Young
Can I speak to Wyatt really quickly?
Willie Compton
Speak to him.
Sherman Young
Wyatt, I do want to apologize. When Jill and I put Scarlet down for her morning nap, we also. We call it re rack. Like, you put yourself back in the oven. We got back in bed and took a morning nap as well. And I missed Will's invite to join y' all at the farmer's market.
Willie Compton
Oh, I think yours was Dos Santos, the breakfast burrito. I just know when I'm going over in that neck of the woods, I'm
Sherman Young
just thinking, like, he would have been there, though, right?
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he was there.
Sherman Young
I apologize. Much would have loved to meet you and give him hell this first season.
Willie Compton
White's a stud, bro.
Sherman Young
He's gonna rock soul.
Willie Compton
Just love him.
Sherman Young
Yeah. The more Comptons I meet, the better.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
And like, your childhood friends and stuff, like, Nick Rips.
Willie Compton
Rips. You know, Nick's listening right now. He's a sicko.
Sherman Young
He is.
Willie Compton
But, yeah. Because I shot them all a message. My dad, my brothers, in a group chat. Because I want to get him out to the house. I want to get them out to see the new spot. We haven't seen each other. Like, we didn't do. Do Christmas, because if you've listened to this show throughout since the incubation of it.
Sherman Young
Yep.
Willie Compton
We had to cancel Christmas with them because everybody basically got the flu.
Sherman Young
Mega sick.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Mega sick. So we did Christmas presents. But it was fun to see him because I just. I feel like I don't get to see them often. And what I was saying is it feels like we're all tied to each other all the time because they might consume. They consume what I do on social media. They consume the podcast and everything else.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But as far as, like, getting on the phone, checking in, having, like, deeper conversations, we don't get to do that often.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And knowing how fragile life is and knowing how quick time moves, it's just like, when he's there, the perspective I'm starting to have, watching him engage with the family and be at the house and all of that is like a. It's like a special moment.
Sherman Young
Yeah, dude. And you're building a family. He is the uncle to your kids. Yeah.
Willie Compton
And he operates like a great uncle. Like, when he's. He's going around the flower farm with Rue. It was him, Morgan, and Rue going around the flower farm. And I'M kind of watching him snapping photos and everything else. But I'm with Mom and Scotty because we had our own bucket. And just seeing Wyatt help her and teach her how to use the. Like, the cutters, like, the scissors to cut the stems at the bottom. And then at the end, Rue's operating all of it. She's cutting all the stems. It's just a wide mixture range of flowers in this bucket.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And white. He's like a craftsman. Like, he can build things. He can do a lot of stuff working on the house. He can do a lot of that stuff. And in my brain, I start thinking, I didn't tell Wyatt this, but I'm like, wouldn't it be cool if every year there's a, like, almost an annual thing that happens to where he helps Rue build something that, like, Wyatt brainstorms or thinks of.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like the way our. My grandpa would do with us, like when he's building us a doghouse or that rifle. That was a wooden rifle or something.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Something new to tinker with to where we're out in the garage around him. I'm envisioning, like, Wyatt would be that uncle.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
To where Ru knows and why it comes. Like they're going to do something in the crafts world.
Sherman Young
No. I'm very close with my mom's sister, my Aunt Arden. Or Auntie Arlo. Yeah. And, yeah, dude, every single year, Thanksgiving is always with Auntie Arlo. Every single year. And that. Yeah. It just cemented that relationship. And she calls us her fuse. Short for nephews.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Yeah.
Sherman Young
And she always secretly tells Jordan and myself, but behind each other's back. That were her favorite feud.
Willie Compton
Of course.
Sherman Young
Of course. Course. But, dude, I love that. And I love the dynamic of the siblings. And, like, Ruth's probably looking at Wyatt and going, he kind of looks like my dad.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Yeah.
Sherman Young
He kind of acts like my dad. Like, I really like this guy. And Scarlett, when she was much younger, when Jordan and my dad came out to see us, and I don't know how many weeks old she was, but she was young. She would really only kind of react to Jill and I's faces. And then Jordan, because he had a beard and a hat on, when he held her at that pumpkin patch that we love. Was that Gentry Farms?
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Shout out. No, free shout out. Gave the biggest smile to my brother, and she probably totally thought, oh, I'm. That's data.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Yeah. Or there's something familiar. Or something familiar.
Sherman Young
Yeah. This feels safe.
Willie Compton
It. Dude, it's so funny because Rue was when we were down in the living room one of the days she was on the US Looking similar. And I'm like, yeah, that's my brother. That's my brother Wyatt. So you're trying to break down your little toddler, because you know, as parents, when you remember it now when you're coming up, but when they're getting on you about something, they're like, I was your age once. But you can never just picture because they are your parents.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
So you never put them in the world, like, okay, I doubt you're going through what I went through.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And so I'm trying to break down the room like Wyatt and Dad. Dad, like, we were brothers. Like, we were small, just like you. So when you. When you were going to be six, that's when Wyatt was born. So, like, the way you and Scotty are our sisters, like, Wyatt was my baby brother, the same way that Scotty's your baby sister. And we were little, just like you guys growing up and everything else. So him being my brother, that is why he is your Uncle Wyatt.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And she'll be like, can you. Hey, dad, let me tell you something. I'm like, okay, tell me. Like, can you. Can you look at Wyatt and say, hi, brother Wyatt? And I'm like, sure. I'm like, hi, brother Wyatt. And he's like, hello. And I look at ruin.
Sherman Young
I'm like, did that do it?
Willie Compton
Yeah, Did I do it? That fire you up? Yeah. Will, on the. On the. Oh, man.
Sherman Young
The pod yesterday, when you were talking about him taking the head football coaching job.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
And you were kind of giving your whole speech and telling him, like, you got to get into it. And Taylor asks you. He was his response, and you said
Willie Compton
he just went, yeah.
Sherman Young
I mean, I. I hope we win.
Willie Compton
Yeah, it'd be awesome.
Sherman Young
That made me laugh so hard, and that was one of the most relatable. I just immediately went, yeah. If I was. Same combo with my brother. Exact same, would have. Exact same way. Yeah, man, I. I hope so. I'm like, are you excited?
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it's like that dynamic is there no matter what. Like, he's not gonna show. Like, he's. It's not like he's gonna walk through all of his cards. Like, there's just the. The. The brother dynamic that's happening in real time. Yes.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
It'd be awesome. Like, yeah.
Sherman Young
Are you pumped?
Willie Compton
You, like, you excited?
Sherman Young
Yeah, I. Yeah. Know what? A coach Will is even this morning with Chef of you being like, chef. Hey, pick, pick. Jared's brain. You could. You could learn a lot from. From Jared. And there was a moment that I thought laughing super hard when you asked me, because you have these, like, coachisms that literally remind me of my middle school and high school coaches when I was at your house and you broke something down for me that was, like, lengthy. It wasn't like a monologue, but it was lengthy. And at the end of it, you looked at me, and you were cutting tangerines for Scotty. And you go, so tell me what you heard. And I said, like, summarize it or verbatim. And you go, just what you heard. Go. Okay. In my head, I'm like, dude, I am in my 8th grade locker room right now, and coach Scott's, like, going over.
Willie Compton
Because when you give them something, what you need, if you're. Whether you're teaching somebody or anything else, you want them to be able to regurgitate it back to you because you want to know, too. Am I being clear? Clear. Like, I could be, like, I can be long winded. I can go all over the map, which I know I'll be as a parent. But it's like, you want them to recite it back to you. Number one, you want to know if they're listening, paying attention, but also trying to get feedback on. Did I explain that clearly?
Sherman Young
In the future, should I give this advice to Sherman? Is he even receptive to this? When I get advice in.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
No, I, I. There was no. Like, I loved it.
Willie Compton
Yeah. I, I, I love that world of.
Sherman Young
I just envision head coach Wyatt now. Who is that? Yeah. To a lot of kids.
Willie Compton
Kids.
Sherman Young
And now older brother Will is doing that to him, and it just makes me giggle, dude.
Willie Compton
Because he'll tell me how he's got great trust. He's. Because he's a younger coach.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
He's got great relationships with guys. I'm sitting there and I'm nodding, and I'm thinking in my head, you don't want that to be a point to where they can take advantage because you're so close with them, and I'm high, responsible, and I'm like, yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
I don't.
Willie Compton
Like, you got to be hard on them. I'm telling you right now. You got to be tough on them. It's good that you have trust and great relationships with your team, and they. They love you, probably because you're fun and all these things, but you got to be. You got to be able to crack the whip. Why? I don't want them showing the little
Sherman Young
cutesy Snapchats that they're sending to each other with the TikTok dances.
Willie Compton
You shouldn't be laughing with them if they're showing you something on their phone unless it's an appropriate time and place.
Sherman Young
They talk about DOA Cat, you ask, who's that? I don't care if you even know. Who do you say, who? Who the hell is that?
Willie Compton
You just think of all the coaches, coaches and the mentors and leaders who have been hard on you in the past. And you look back now like, Bo Pelini comes to my mind.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And you look back now, or my dad. You look back now and you appreciate. You do them being hard on you. You feel like some things could have been explained in a better way to where you get on the same page. Like Bo made a comment when we were on busing. He's like, I knew I could be hard on you. You, because you'd be receptive and you would help me. If I'm hard on you, then it's showing that I can be hard on the others. And I'm thinking, man, if I would have known that, like, if you would have told me, kind of like, hey, I'm gonna rip your ass. But here's how we're kind of solving both things. Number one, I think you're very receptive to it. You respond well. And it helps me get on others ass. That is seeing if you're an example.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And I'm thinking, dude, I like lived in my head, like, yeah, I might have been receptive. Like, I'm always like, I want to please. I want to make you guys like, I want be as good as I can.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And when you're ripping into my ass some, like in my head, like, there'll be nights where I'm thinking, I'm failing you. But if I knew that you're also trying to solve another problem with the team at large.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Then I would have known. We would have been on a much different wavelength. But I still look back on all that stuff and I'm like, okay, you just appreciate those people who were hard on you that could see farther down the road that you could see because we're very short sighted as, as younger kids, younger athletes, whatever it is, is to where you now have perspective being older.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And I just think the same thing, like with Wyatt, like I was saying it on bus and I'm like, you are growing men like they're in high school, but you want them to feel that you were hard on them. And then one day they Respect you enough because you were hard on them because they're going to go out into the world and they might see a loosey goosey structure, everything else. And then they think back, oh, this is why my coach was like this on me back in the day.
Sherman Young
Coach Compton would be pissed if he saw this operation like this.
Willie Compton
And you're thinking, these guys don't get it.
Sherman Young
Yeah, they don' get it. Coach Compton be chewing their ass.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
And it does make the. Out of boys that much better when. When you do have that. Never not never gives out of boys. But, you know, in eighth grade we had that like drill sergeant Coach Lito is like a hardcore program. And I mean, that dude was a snake. And I only got one helmet hit after a touchdown down and that was it. But that meant, dude, when he hit the side of my helmet as I was coming to the sideline.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
I was like, yeah. Like, he, like, he likes me.
Willie Compton
It's like parenthood as well. It's like you want to be on a level with them to where they trust you enough that they can talk to you about anything. But there's also that dynamic of the. You're not their friend.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
There's also the dynamic of respect that it's a respect. It's maybe like a healthy feeling fear. But that respect of I trust the direction he's going to guide me.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Versus like, I'm scared to approach him because he is so hard on me.
Sherman Young
Yes. Dude. That finding the balance of, hey, I don't want to do the wrong thing because I know that he wants the best for me and wants the right thing.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Not because I like, oh, here comes the ass chewing. Yeah. Here's what I've been trying to avoid for the last couple months. Months.
Willie Compton
Yeah. That would be a fear I would have with my dad at times growing up because he was very hard on us. It was like a tough love. Like now our relationship is incredible.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Because we look back and I do feel so comfortable talking to him about a lot of these things.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Or a lot of like, shortcomings.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
We can call them. But our relationship now is much different from when I was growing up because he was more like a. Not like Dan Gable was this way, but he was like a. He was hard on us.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Sicko mindset.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Like, don't. Don't be tiptoeing around the house. Or don't. Don't be heavy foot around the house.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
You're not on your toes. You're not being. That's not like, you know, fast or whatever.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Seems like you're lazy. That type of. It would be kind of like. It'd be like Friday night lights.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
You drop the lamp.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Can't hold on a lamp. Can't hold on the football at times. This wasn't all the time. My dad didn't abuse the out of us.
Sherman Young
That's a great scene, by the way.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
We also just did another idiot segue. A perfect idiot segue. Because my crack, a cold one, is being a coach at the first tee.
Willie Compton
Fall forward, man.
Sherman Young
I know. Which actually, this is a great conversation as far as my cracker cold one. This week, I'm volunteering at First Tee, which is a nonprofit golf thing. You basically give free golf lessons to kids. Kids in a. In and around a community. Yeah. So I'm doing it here in Nashville. I just want something that would get my mind off of work, get my mind off of the house. A little something for me, but that's also kind of giving back, and I'm very excited for it. But I have, like, the 10 to 12 year olds, so these kids are actual, like, they can golf, and they're like little dudes. You know what I mean?
Willie Compton
And you're going in to just, like, volunteer?
Sherman Young
Yeah, I'm volunteering as, like, a coach. Coach. But I'm so excited. I don't have, like, dude, I'm like a 22, 24 handicap. Like, I'm not some stud golfer. There's some little things I could. Little nuggets here and there. But I am excited to see where that, like, mentorship or, you know, whatever, because that's part of the program, too, is they have all these pillars of, like, life lessons that the kids are being taught as well. Well, if you know, I love that. Yeah. And I'm excited for it. But it's a good reminder, too, of, like, you can't be too, you know, too much of friends with them from the standpoint, but also being able to be this guide and this friendly, like, you know, whatever in their life. It'll be fun. Dude. I haven't done something like this in a. In a long time, so I'm. I'm actually, like, really excited.
Willie Compton
I think you're gonna get a lot of value out of it. Yeah, dude, there's this cool philosopher philosophy on. No matter what stage you're in, like, having a mentor, somebody that is, like, you know, third party. They're disconnected from your day to day, operating inside of your circle.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
But you have a mentor that you lean On.
Sherman Young
Yep.
Willie Compton
You have somebody that you're doing it with. So it would be, in our case, anybody at work that you were say. Say you have a workout buddy, an accountability buddy.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Somebody that you're doing things with, and also somebody that you are. You are mentoring or giving back to that is, quote, unquote, below you.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
To, like, kind of feed your soul. Like, those are, like. That was like a. Like, a philosophy I was reading about in, like, at Nebraska, and then I saw Rex Burkhead as, like, my equal. Somebody that I looked up to, but that you almost don't know that you're looking up to. So and so, like, if I'm looking up to you or looking up to Derek or looking up to Chef, like, you guys don't know that I'm getting stuck. Stuff that you guys are adding value to my life, and we're kind of doing this thing together.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Then I have a guy who I'll, like, lean on for any. You know, you have, like, different mentors, whether it's parenthood, business, work, relationships, spiritual, financial, anything, right?
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
Yes. And then you have the one where you're giving back. So I love. Dude, I love that you're doing that.
Sherman Young
I've desperately needed it, and it'll be a lot of fun. And just to get to be outside. Dude. Golf's such a fun story. Sport. I. I just love the game of golf. I love. If there's any sport where you can get away with it, it's golf and of cheating.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
And, like, just the.
Willie Compton
We were talking about that at the zoo.
Sherman Young
Oh, really?
Willie Compton
Remember we were walking in, talking about golf. Oh, but, like, committing to golf. And then you and your boys go and do 18 holes, but it takes out. It carves out, like, all these hours on a weekday or a weekend.
Sherman Young
Six hours, honey. Yeah.
Willie Compton
So we know you got kids. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Sherman Young
How is golf on?
Willie Compton
It was so good. You just getting drunk with the boys on the golf course. You're gone for, like, how long would do 18 holes last?
Sherman Young
Four, five, six. Yeah. I mean.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Really? It can last that long? Like crazy.
Sherman Young
If it's a packed day and everybody's in foursomes. Yeah. Could be that long. It. It's nuts. But. Yeah. To get to, like, teach those kids accountability and, like, why you don't tell your friend that you got a birdie when you play part it. You know, and, like, what that. What that deeper meaning is and how that's applied to life of, like, doing the right thing when nobody's looking and So I, I just think golf has, every sport has lessons in it, but golf has some particularly fun ones with like, what are you doing when nobody's watching you?
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
And kind of any solo sport like tennis, track, kind of of that self accountability, self coaching, selft talk, self speak of, hey, don't lose your cool because you missed a putt. You know, guess what? Look up. There's a tee box right there. There's another hole where you can go make that putt next time. We learned our mistake here. Let's go apply it to this next one. We're moving, we're moving on. We're failing forward. We're going to grow from this.
Willie Compton
I love that dynamic too because then in time you, you're going to, you're going to build trust with these kids that you're messing with and to where you'll start getting to connect with them on de. Like, hey, what's going on? Like, what's going on at you?
Sherman Young
Oh, dude. For sure.
Willie Compton
What's going on in your life?
Sherman Young
For sure. That little, little moments, opportunities like that seem cool and, and means way more now because Scarlet is so young and, and I know that like these times are quote unquote easier to be a dad in those ways. And I really want to hone in those skills of the, the pre teen, like. And so I'm really excited for that because I know that that's like an age where some of that can be difficult. There can be some disconnect in the preteen ages and the teenager ages and like I'm just excited for those reps. It feels like practice reps for my own daughter of communication and etc.
Willie Compton
I like that, man.
Sherman Young
It'll be fun.
Willie Compton
Love that for you. We just been riffing.
Sherman Young
We've been riffing. And how, how are we on time? Should we jump into some. Yeah, yeah. Okay. We're not too bad.
Willie Compton
I am staring at a PT Fit. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
We have PT Fit updates.
Willie Compton
We have PT Fit updates. Lily Cud Cut Cuddy. Lily Cudi on Spotify. I'm thinking we do a fundraiser for PT Fit where Charo leads a Bar 3 class in Nashville. Question mark? Question mark? Oh, that's a phenomenal idea. I did some bar three last Friday. Charo's 10am Class.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Over off of the one. The one in paddock off a white bridge.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Charles teaches a 10am class on Fridays that I might start frequenting more. I do feel like my body. Body responds really well to it. To where I'm like Feeling good.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Because, you know, I've had a lot of low back issues. Just a lot of wear and tear from playing football. Yeah. And it's okay to admit it. I would tell you, Charles, hearing this for the first time, but kind of nice. It's a kind of nice vibe because I'm taking many water breaks. Like these women there, there's a, there's a. There's a gal that walked in and she was like 30 something weeks pregnant. And she's, you know, there's always these modifications for all the movements that you're doing.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But she's in there ripping. And so young, old, doesn't matter. All body types, like, they're in there and they're dominating.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And I'm like, my legs, bro. You'll get up on like, your toes and some moves where you're doing like these wall sits, you pick up your toes, you're doing these pulsing squats and you're trying to hold these poses. And I'm shaking. One of my dad's favorite lines. I'm shaking like a dog. Peach seeds.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
And you like, I'm taking many a break, right? So in my head I'm like, Charl, I think she was like, hey, how do you feel from the class? Like, I feel like it was a phenomenal, like, rehab, A very intense rehab session for myself because my body feels great. I feel like my body responded real well. Like, glutes are. Everything's activated. Core.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like, I don't feel my low back pain that much. So I'm like, man, I need to kind of put. I need to frequent it. I need to have this in my toolbox because it does make me feel really good. But I also feel like I failed because I had to take so many breaks. You didn't fail. You did great.
Sherman Young
I.
Willie Compton
It and the environment vibe is like, you're around a bunch of dudes and you fail a lot. You're getting poured on.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
You did kind of push out. You did this. They're patting you on the ass. You're doing a great job. I don't feel like it.
Sherman Young
I stepped away a couple times, but thanks.
Willie Compton
No, you crushed it. And you're just like, oh, I can be around this.
Sherman Young
I would hate to turn one of her classes into a certain circus, but I think that that would be a really fun vlog opportunity.
Willie Compton
Us just going and doing the Bar 3 class.
Sherman Young
That too. That's what I'm saying.
Willie Compton
And maybe the Milk Team Sixers that out there, that might be familiar with Bar 3? Are they taking a Bar 3 class? Like, what an opportunity to do like a. For the dads collab where it's. You're bringing in your husband. Because we're gonna do it.
Sherman Young
Yeah. And to give a shout out. No free shout out because it's a. From an unbiased third Barty, one of Jill's very good friends, Grace here in Nashville, takes one of Charo's lead bar three classes and raves about it. Dude, she loves it.
Willie Compton
They vibe with Charo. Rubber band like. Yeah, she's a stud.
Sherman Young
Hey, come on, man. Come on. Hey, man, you talking about my wife? Yeah, she kind of got it.
Willie Compton
I popped one of the balls. No, I was like hitting the wall sitter. I was lean, leaning on, and all of a sudden the air is coming out. I look back, it's like. And I kind of like put it down and I just grab another ball.
Sherman Young
Charles, just at the front of the class just trying to come.
Willie Compton
Hey, this happens, right? I don't see anybody else's ball popped.
Sherman Young
I did good.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Margaret's ball popped too. I just want to put that out there.
Sherman Young
Margaret, I saw that sneak the ball
Willie Compton
behind an old lady. Hey. What? She just popped the ball.
Sherman Young
Ball. Hey, Ben's ball just popped. Yeah, I don't know that.
Willie Compton
Put it behind the. Put it behind the pregnant lady. He put it behind the pregnant lady. Jesus. I think her. I think her water broke over here.
Sherman Young
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm. I'm not trying to make a big deal about this.
Willie Compton
Start emptying my water bottle around her spot. We got to get her out of here.
Sherman Young
Hey, this is such a wild note. By the way, a fun MT6 fact. The latest natural birth in the United states was a 50 year old, 58 year old woman. She did a pilates class the day she delivered.
Willie Compton
Some of them. Some of them women, bro.
Sherman Young
Sickos out there, dude.
Willie Compton
Keep the fitness and exercise going all
Sherman Young
the way up until some sickos out there.
Willie Compton
Some Dan Gable sickos. Yes.
Sherman Young
I have Vince on Spotify. This is PT Fit Boys. 75 hard is perfect for dads. It will change you both physically and mental. Mentally, I've become such a better dad since I've started the program. I structure my day around not missing time with the kids and wife. I quickly realized that there was so much wasted time in a day. Would love to be a part of a 75 hard PT fit group, which
Willie Compton
PT 75 hard hard. I'm not against it. No, no, no, that's true. Discipline that is.
Sherman Young
Is 75 hard is true.
Willie Compton
It's almost like I look where I'm at now because again, the whole game is structuring. Right. Like I was writing, I was writing down some of my updates to share, talk about my PT fit journey so far. And a lot of this urgency has come up number one. I was very disappointed myself over the last several months. Yeah, it's kind of my worst stretch post career of football, of not being in the weight room, not exercising, eating okay. But not like holiday season destroys me. I'm very much. I indulge in holiday season. And you go and get blood work. I go to this like health 3.0 health 3.0 spot called paradigm awesome spot. Basically like a concierge service of everything. Think of it as like you have somebody who's going through, a true financial advisor who goes through everything, walks with you. Everything else. They do this like for your body through blood work work. DEXA scans your body movement. They tag an age to it, like, how are you moving everything? Stuff that's going on, old MRIs, they take everything all encompassing and work with you because they think longevity, they think 50 years down the road, not us wanting to get jacked in 2026.
Sherman Young
Yup.
Willie Compton
And my blood work in June or July, I think it was June. And then my blood work at the end of the year or seven months later, my blood work has gotten more worse. My DEXA scan has gotten worse, which I knew was going to happen. I, I joke about in la, you know, talk about my, the body fat, it was like 27. The visceral grams of fat, how much, how much Char was buying into it and got so much better. Like Charles almost like in a superior range of working with the group and like diving into her fitness and everything.
Sherman Young
Her numbers sounded like Olympic athlete type numbers when you were.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sherman Young
I mean, crazy.
Willie Compton
So just my wife and seeing her feedback and everything else is almost just like a. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired about it. And it's almost like a. Not like a wake up call. I'm not in like an emergency situation, but my cholesterol's been high. It's even higher. My vitamin levels are not that good. My blood pressure's been high every time I've went in. Some things could be stress inducing, some things could be genetic. You kind of look at the entire picture, the entire scope.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And my man's been, We've been working with each other almost weekly now because he's like, dude, just start right now until your Sore next weight room gets put in the garage. Because some of it was the excuse. This is an excuse coming out of my mouth where I'm going to say some of it was moving. I was moving garages and set up. So it's just an excuse that I'm giving myself. Because there's a weight room that we have in our shop.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But it, it truly is structuring. It's like we've joked about our late goon nights and everything else, but staying up late does, does hurt if you're wanting to be somebody who dominates your morning. Because our mornings is waking up being up at 7 from 7 to 8:15 is all kid related or 7:30 to 8:30 is all kid related. Before we get Rue out of the house to school car line. I'm making her lunch. I'm making breakfast. Charles gets them ready. But we have like I have been waking up earlier in between the 6 and 6:30 mark. I've been doing something. He's like, just start Zone two. Get on your assault bike. You have the, you have your Garmin zone two. Five sessions of 30 minutes. You need to get 150 minutes of zone two cardio. So things I've been doing is the zone two cardio, the ATG or knees over toes guy. I love their Instagram. I bought into their program. I've had their program for years. But they have, they have workout structures for people who want to be shredded. For people this all the way down to old people. They have body weight stuff, everything.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But I hit that stuff. Sauna and cold water. I do 12 minutes of cold water every week. Four, four days of three minutes each. Sauna, 80 minutes. Four sessions of 20 minutes each. Okay. I'm giving this information to anybody that, anyone listening that wants any direction and more of like I want to say it out loud because it gives me like an accountability factor. I've had Sal Frisella in my ear because 75 hard comes from first form Andy Frisella. The Frisella brothers.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
And he challenged me to do like a half marathon. I haven't responded to him on April 11th because I'm like, you ain't getting my ass out there running.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
That far, that quickly, all that stuff. The 75 hard is awesome. They have a 75 soft. They have all these different regimens. But I am from what our boy is saying that 70, 75 hard rips. We should do a 75 hard PT fit. I am on board with that. But part of it myself is Stacking some of these small wins to build momentum. Because I do. It's like my goals for the end of the year. I'm writing them down. I want to get under a bar. I haven't been under a bar because of my loss low back in years. This dates back to like 2020 or 2021, while I was still playing football because I was having back issues.
Sherman Young
And that. That's for upper and lower body workouts, like squat and base.
Willie Compton
When I'm talking about getting under a bar, I'm talking about back squatting. I haven't back squatted in years. I would love to because it like loads your spine and everything else. But there are healthy. There are progressions to where I can have a healthy enough back to load my back again. I would love to do, do that. That is a goal for myself. I'm somebody who, again, within my first couple hours of waking up, 50 grams of protein in my breakfast, 30 grams of protein at every meal. A massive glass of water when I wake up with lemon and salt to get electrolytes. All of that fun stuff. You can look up all this stuff. This is like my own walk, my own journey, communicating to PT6 PT fit. As we're going on this, a part of me does want to flip the switch. When the sore next gym gets put in, I do want to flip the switch. I would love to challenge myself to a 75 hard because that does seem awesome and seems very, very good for you. Because a lot of the rules, I think we went over them last week, but it's like a five step. Five boxes checked in the day.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
Where you're getting a couple workouts in. One of them's outdoors. You're getting a gallon of water. You're reading 10 minutes of a personal development book I would love in the PT Fit universe. Maybe it's a book in the personal development phase, but also more tailored toward parenthood. Parenting book. What else? I aim for my body weight in grams of protein, but blood work, DEXA scans. I have bar three last Friday, shouting out bar three and giving my wife love because I did enjoy doing the class. I do think the bar three for the dad's collab would be fun, but I'm very much invested in this PT Fit idea. And I do feel like step one is being vulnerable, talking about my shortcomings where I'm at. I need to take a photo of myself because it's like, I'll look in the mirror and I'm like, dude, you are. I'll look at old photos, my man.
Sherman Young
You were looking at that one the other day with George at Taylor's wedding. Yeah.
Willie Compton
And he was talking about my neck and like, Will used to look. I'm like, I know. And I'm laughing. But it's also like, dude, we give ourselves. I'll speak for myself. I give myself the Reasoning of I'm 36, I'm still young, I have time. You got a lot going on. Yeah. You have family dynamic dynamic. You have work dynamic. You have a lot of moving parts. And so I give myself those outs. Right. Or I'll stay up late and play video games. Like, it's my time to be social. It's my time to have fun. I'm gonna save a little later because I can sleep till seven.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Instead of like, bro, Willie boy, you know, man, you want to get up earlier, you have to nix this off the docket. Or if you do want to play video games, bro, structure it out from like 8:30 to 10.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
If you're dying to play video games or you're dying to watch TV shows.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
These are like conversations I'm having with myself. All the say, I PT fit. I'm on board. I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I'm more just. You're vomiting. I am feeling inspired.
Sherman Young
Jill and I also inspired with the PT fit move movement just from. I don't want to speak too much on Jill's stuff. I feel like I could share it with Jill stuff. She's basically wanting to get fit to try and avoid some of those gestational diabetes, some of the high blood pressure stuff with our next pregnancy. So she has a weight goal that I basically matched 30 pounds by the end of this year as just our goal of what we're going to work towards for kid number two. If we are to try and move towards kid number two. She wants to get into a healthier range. I obviously want to get into a healthier range because I, you know, we joked about me being at the doctor or we both went to the doctor and they took our blood pressure pressure.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
More than twice.
Willie Compton
Yep.
Sherman Young
And you're sitting there like, oh, it
Willie Compton
might be the wrong cuff. It might different cuffs this and that. Yeah.
Sherman Young
And do you have coffee this morning? Did not have coffee this morning. Oh, and like, seeing her face to the answer of, no, I didn't have any caffeine. But yeah. And having the goal of running a 400 meter in under 60 seconds, a lot needs to happen happen for that. A regiment needs to happen for that. So I haven't implemented anything like you're talking about, but I'm excited for it.
Willie Compton
Yeah, there's like because now my wife is on me about stuff and she's been an awesome like accountability like we were she we got up this morning and went through like a flow session that Bar3 offers online like yoga stretching out against getting some mobility in the the postseason is upon us and there's really nothing like it. When you travel there are a lot
Sherman Young
of things to remember to pack like noise canceling headphones, a phone charger, your favorite snacks. But the most important thing to bring an acceptable id, like a real ID or a passport. You'll need one of these every time you fly domestically and unfortunately a driver's license that's not real real ID compliant isn't gonna fly. Find out if you're Travel ready@tsa.gov Real ID and visit your local DMV to
Willie Compton
get your Real ID today. Joints and everything else and it's awesome, but it's like my doc hit me up like on a Sunday night. Or maybe it was wait, what's, what's today? Tuesday.
Sherman Young
Tuesday.
Willie Compton
So Sunday night hit me up at like 8:30pm in an email. It's like hey, going through your blood work that I most recently took. Nothing is an emergency but would love to get on the phone this week and walk you through some things because your cholesterol over things involving your cholesterol and your vitamin levels. And so I tell that to Charo, hers go up because it's like, you know, you think about the kids, you think about the family. Like hey, there's nothing that is pressing but you can just tell by the tone and the intention and him following up and everything else because I've worked with him now for, for I'll be coming up on a year here in a few months, but you want to start sacking some progress a hundred percent after seven months you don't want to see the meter go the other way, which I knew was going to happen. And I was telling him I was being frank with him because he's like tell me like what's on your mind. And I word vomited a lot of stuff and kind of recapped our year, our season, all the things we did, all the things with Fish family, all that kind of stuff. And him just wanting to kind of walk with me more on. He's like, how do we get some structure in place to where some of the things maybe you might be working, but you can accomplish some of these things at work.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And I ultimately tell him, I'm like, part of me coming in is almost ashamed of coming in because you feel like you disappoint the, you disappoint the authority. The authority in my brain is you. I feel a lot of that has to do with being in a performance based world with football and everything else, because you never want to let your coach down, you never want to let your family down, you never want to let yourself down. And when I know I'm doing that, part of me punts the meetings and calling back and text because I know I'm not putting in the work work that I'm proud of. So if that's happening with me, it's not a anything against them. It's like I'm just being vulnerable and just saying like part of me gets ashamed to come in and talk about all this stuff.
Sherman Young
Yeah. You have a humongous external force of being a, an ex NFL football player on yours. Whereas like somebody sees a picture of me and they're not going to be like, oh, Sherman kind of let himself go. If that makes sense. Yeah. Like, yeah, because I wasn't that like level of peak athleticism. So like that external pressure isn't there as much for me, but the internal pressure is very much there for me of like.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Even if it needs to happen.
Willie Compton
Yeah. And I get that that stuff can be quote unquote real, but some of the external stuff that we're talking about is truly just assumptive. It's just what we're telling ourselves.
Sherman Young
I. A quote I just saw online that I really love dealing with that kind of stuff is being healthy and getting in shape is not an obstacle, it's actually the solution. So I've been telling myself that with just like, with external stresses and whatever may come up is like, hey, when you go work out or when you're eating well, you make a good decision. Like that is not an obstacle. You're actually, you're working towards the solution. And that's one that I've been kind of the last two weeks been going at. It's been really nice. Yeah.
Willie Compton
It reminds you of the book of Atomic Habits. I know that's like a massive bestseller, but it's like stripping yourself of the idea of an outcome and it really just comes down to what your daily habits are.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
You change your daily habits. You change everything.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But share with you guys, share with the audience.
Sherman Young
I love that. I know I need to get a full breakdown of daily regimen, daily routine that I'll apply for myself. One starter is just non negotiable. And one that I've been kicking myself is walking the dogs every morning, every night, because that needs to happen. And I'll just do the lazy front yard. Hey, go get them. Yeah, it's easy that, like when you're talking about, like eating the elephant one bite at a time, stacking wins. Like, easiest win to his stack because I need to be doing it. And then on the weekends too, of Jill and I prioritizing, doing walks with Scarlet, getting outside, not just sitting around the house watching movies. But. Yeah, I'm excited.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Yeah. It all correlates too. We're obviously talking about fitness, but this is to me, in every. Every area that you have, every bucket that you have with fitness, self work, marriage, parenthood. We all have the idea. We. We all know. You know what I mean? Like, we know the answers. We just. We get scared to look that close in the mirror. Yeah. Because we get disappointed in ourselves.
Sherman Young
Yeah. And there's always the excuse of tomorrow is like the. The big excuse for me of like, couples therapy. Like, I'm a huge believer in couples there. It's like, why. Why hasn't that been established? Jill's a huge believer in that.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Sitting down and having like a full Excel spreadsheet, breakdown of finances. Jill and I getting a joint account, a joint savings account. Like, all those little things where it's like, well, it's been a really. It's been a really busy month. And we've been. There's a lot going on. We'll get to it. It's gonna get done. Yeah. There's rap poop on the thing. Like, I'll. I'll go get traps tomorrow at Home Depot and I'll set the traps out. Like, everything starts stacking on each other that it's. And everybody says, like, make your bed is like. Because that's the very first thing you do when you up. It's, you know, catch a small dub. Catch a small, small dub. I told you when I was in bed for like a month, depressed, and we touched on this, like, at the very. I think this was like pre Derek, like one of our very first episodes. That was what my therapist told me when I was just like, literally trapped in my own head and laying in bed, not getting out of bed for a full month. He was like, get up, make your bed, shower, and put a nice outfit. Outfit on that. That somebody's gonna see you in. Because then you might as well just leave the house. If you look nice, you might as well, you know, go apply for that job that you've been wanting to apply for. You might as well like all the big goals.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not a Dan Gable, but an Apollo Creed. Ooh. There is no tomorrow.
Sherman Young
There is no tomorrow tomorrow.
Willie Compton
There is no tomorrow tomorrow. Tomorrow. No. That's where you're wrong, man. Get the piss. Hot.
Sherman Young
With just the echo of the little basement gym that they're in.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
There is no tomorrow. Yeah.
Willie Compton
And he's. He's hitting the walls and he looks up in the mirror.
Sherman Young
Do we want.
Willie Compton
I'm afraid. All right.
Sherman Young
Do we.
Willie Compton
I don't want to lose what I got. Yes, Voice question. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's hit the voice. We're still under an hour.
Sherman Young
We're still under an hour. 601 the dads for a reminder. And then you can write in 601thedadsgmail.com. This is our first one. It is dating advice for. For PT6. What's going on? Boys love this show. Just got a quick question. My son just finished with his rugby season and it's co ed. One of the girls came up to him and asked him for his number. Mind you, he's only 11. What do I do? That advice would help. All right, guys, have a blessed day.
Willie Compton
He wrapped up what he just finished the. He said it's the rugby season. The rugby season. Okay.
Sherman Young
Coed team teammate comes up to him, says, hey, you mind if I get those 10 digits?
Willie Compton
Kids got game. Son's got game.
Sherman Young
Kids got game.
Willie Compton
If anything, now we're talking about an 11 year old.
Sherman Young
We are talking about someone's sweet little 11 year old little boy. First off, huge W that a girl. Girl is approaching your son to ask him for his number.
Willie Compton
What confidence.
Sherman Young
I think that's a huge W for both of those parents.
Willie Compton
What advice would you give? Okay, 11 years old, that's what, fifth grade?
Sherman Young
Yeah, fifth.
Willie Compton
What was I doing at 11? Cuz, dude, it's like the phone game is kind of out of my wheelhouse right now because I'm not going to going through it. Obviously I'm doing whatever I can to kind of prepare for it. I come across a lot of stuff with technology and when should they have a phone? When they should not. All of these. There's there's, there's a massive. There's a lot of opinions on it.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
So I want to be careful there.
Sherman Young
Also, I know that there's like the romantic side of this, but like, she did just ask for his number.
Willie Compton
Could mean nothing.
Sherman Young
Exactly.
Willie Compton
Because again, they're. What? They're young. I mean, they were you.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
But if I had a crush, Trisha Hartrup was her name. I was fifth or sixth grade. I might have been a fifth grader. She was a sixth grader. And you know, you want to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend at that age. What my parents would do. Because that was landline back then.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
But if we wanted to like hang out or anything, it would be at the movies with a parent.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
You know what I mean? Like. Okay.
Sherman Young
At the mall with a parent.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
If they're wanting to hang out outside of school or rugby. Parental supervision.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Dude.
Willie Compton
Girl wants his number. I don't know what the intention is. Like, wants his number to hang out.
Sherman Young
Huh.
Willie Compton
Are they the same age? Is she a year older? Is she a couple years older?
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
But it's like both of the parents of the two kids being on the same page to a. Do they want to go see a movie?
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Which one of us wants to go chaperone them, pick them up, drive them, go to the movie, sit in the
Sherman Young
movie with them and just.
Willie Compton
If you're allowing that to even happen. So like I had friends were, you know, friends that were girls and their parents wouldn't let them date or anything until they were like a certain age.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
So again, this is a. This is a topic that has a lot of different opinions.
Sherman Young
So many different little veins.
Willie Compton
My own experience when I was a fifth grader and had a crush and wanted a girlfriend, if we were going to hang out outside of exchanging notes in the hallway at school, it would be one of our parents picking us up to go sit at the movie with us.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
So I.
Sherman Young
My addition to your, like, how to do would be the awesome opportunity that this boy dad has of that pregame talk and some other conversations with son about respecting women.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Making her feel safe. Making it a fun environment. Things we don't say, things we do say. Things that we do when we're hanging out with girls. How we treat girls, how we court them. How we court them. Because as crazy as this sounds, Jill, my Now wife, who's 30, I know from her talking about this guy that her little fifth and sixth grade boyfriend crush was the quote Unquote, sweetest guy ever. Sherman, you would have loved him. And that guy was just the little fifth and sixth grade boyfriend. But look at the impact that that had on Jill. Of a picture of. That's a good. That's a model of a good man. How I should be treated. Was my fifth and sixth grade boyfriend that never tried it. Anything. Never inappropriate, always sweet. And I now, you know, she thinks highly of me because I'm her husband, but she equates me to him. Is like, y' all would be besties. Like y'. All. Like, he's such a great guy. Da, da, da. And that's really cool. The little opportunity that as small as it seems.
Willie Compton
That is a great point, honestly. Because again, we don't know the full.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Number one. We don't know the full context of this situation.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like, are they just trying to play video games? Like is exactly friend. Do they like each other? Do they have a crush? If they do and you're cool with them going to. To do the movie example or any of the examples. But to your level, which I think is phenomenal, the opportunity of teaching your son the manners, the courtship, the game of how we respect women.
Sherman Young
Yes. How you treat.
Willie Compton
I love that.
Sherman Young
Yeah. How you treat your friends that are women. So that when you know that she's off at college, she can't think back and go, my friend Brandon would never do that.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Never say yeah.
Willie Compton
Good, bro.
Sherman Young
Let's go. Oh, speaking of steak and bj, buddy is our second voice.
Willie Compton
There we go. Talk about all that. Let's get back to the. What up, fellas. Caleb from Montana here, not a dad, but a 22 year old listener.
Sherman Young
Loved the show last night. Or as I'm sitting here getting ready for church, I'm realizing it's the 15th. If you guys know yesterday, hopefully you
Willie Compton
guys cashed in on steak and blowjob day.
Sherman Young
Well, as a single fellow, I didn't really have many expectations for this day.
Willie Compton
But then last night I got a
Sherman Young
random text from one of my best friends saying, saying, hey, you want to
Willie Compton
come over for some antelope steaks?
Sherman Young
Of course.
Willie Compton
Any good guy friend.
Sherman Young
Yeah, I'm there for some steaks. Luckily, the blow job done side didn't
Willie Compton
come with it because it was just
Sherman Young
me and him there. Yeah, mistakes that would have been a little weird. But not sure if he's hitting at anything. I don't know if he's a listener of the pod, so just thought it
Willie Compton
was pretty funny this morning going, I
Sherman Young
just went over to my best Friend's house. That's a guy.
Willie Compton
Just us two for steak and job day.
Sherman Young
Hopefully the neighbors didn't think anything of it.
Willie Compton
See you boys.
Sherman Young
And it's all, you know, it's all about optics in a situation like that. It's all about optics.
Willie Compton
I love that this SD6 are called in.
Sherman Young
Yeah, dude.
Willie Compton
And the assumption, like, hope the neighbors didn't think anything. Like, the neighbors are also big fans of the pod.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah.
Willie Compton
Looking out the window, oh, you see Tim going over to John's house. I see him grilling steaks in the backyard. You think, no, Tim.
Sherman Young
There's no way.
Willie Compton
I see tim wearing a BT6 shirt. Could they. No, not. Not in Montana.
Sherman Young
I know. Antelope snakes was the most Montana thing in the entire world. And hey, if you. If we ain't against anything, we ain't judge no.
Willie Compton
No, no, no. We ain't judge no.
Sherman Young
If it, you know, Happy steak day. And if it had been a Happy steak and BJ day.
Willie Compton
Happy steak and B.
Sherman Young
Look, look, buddy, listen.
Willie Compton
On this side of the mountain, I,
Sherman Young
you know, I hear you in Montana.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Broke back.
Sherman Young
Broke back mouth. I love that. Our brains. Thank you.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
That was a beautiful. I like that he thought of this on the way to church. That was my favorite part.
Willie Compton
Excuse me, Father, can I get a confession? Can I get you in the confession room?
Sherman Young
Yes, my son.
Willie Compton
God, we didn't do nothing. But I just. The sin is weighing on me.
Sherman Young
How many ounces was the antelope steak, my son? I don't know. It was like a tenderloin. It was probably like 8 ounces.
Willie Compton
Daniel, Mary's.
Sherman Young
Thank you, Father. That's incredible. I get to take a road trip. Is our third and last voicemail now. Hey, what's up, boys? Joe. Philadelphia. First time, long time. I'm calling on a road trip. Getting my road trip badge today. Taking my daughter, 3 months old, and my dog, my puppy Beau, 2 years old, from Philadelphia to New Hampshire. I get to stop every two hours to feed her with a bottle. I get to turn a five hour drive in, do a seven hour drive.
Willie Compton
Good.
Sherman Young
I get to do all of this just so that way my wife, she has to. She has to take some sacrifices. She has to go into the office. So today she's probably gonna have to go to brunch with the girls. She's probably gonna have to eat ice cream tonight without me on the couch before bed. She's gonna have to do those things. She's gonna have to make those sacrifices. But I get to go on a Road trip with my 3 month old daughter. Stop every 2 hours on a drive that I normally can just do straight through without stopping for gas. But I get to feed her that bottle every two hours. I'll give you guys some updates if I manage to stay this positive for the rest of the ride. Thank you. And stay strong, fellas.
Willie Compton
Stay hard, man.
Sherman Young
Stay hard. He gets to clean the poop that seeps out of the diaper because you forgot to change it at the last bottle feed.
Willie Compton
You get to listen on the same song on repeat. If you have a lullaby, go to. And you need the little one to fall asleep.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Or the shusher will. Have you ever had the pleasure of a road trip with the shusher?
Willie Compton
Tell me more. Oh, with the white noise. Oh, it's actually going. Or you're the shusher.
Sherman Young
No, it's a nice little. It's on repeat. It's a nice little ten hour shush. Sure. That is. It's great for any road trip. And you get to listen to that. If the kiddos in the back.
Willie Compton
Good news. Who knows? I hope everything went well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But getting two with the three month old comparing to one a little bit older when it gets harder to travel with them. Yeah, you do. There. There's some silver lining there.
Sherman Young
I was about to say if he's
Willie Compton
been on some sicko. Yeah. Rotation trips. And I'm looking at you, Scotty.
Sherman Young
If you can time it with sleep. That's. We've talked about this, dad. Hack.
Willie Compton
You're right. You are a th percent correct.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
But sometimes it hits the fan. Hits the fan and it doesn't go according to plan.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Willie Compton
And Scotty's one of them.
Sherman Young
Sky's got her dad in her. She got that Compton blood.
Willie Compton
You got that AAP mentality when she strapped in that car seat.
Sherman Young
Come on, man.
Willie Compton
Bro, Matter of fact, you just. And it wasn't five hours or seven hours. It was 30 minutes. We went to Perrin down in Franklin last Thursday, I believe. Maybe it was Thursday, maybe it was Wednesday. And had a wonderful dinner, had a wonderful meal. Paran great food. Went there for dinner.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Got me some steak and fries. And on the way home I had the. Obviously drove ruined. Scotty there to meet mom. Mom was doing her. Her, I think paradigm check in. So her health. Check in and met her at the restaurant. Restaurant was great. On the way home we were going to split both kiddos. Rue went to R with mama.
Sherman Young
Okay.
Willie Compton
I'll take Scotty. Scotty is such a mama's girl. Right now. She's such a mama's girl. Loves mama's mama, dude. She loves her dad, too. But it's. I'm talking glued to the hip. Mama's the answer. Mom is the safe space. Mom is the solution. She missed mom. The entire 30 minutes. I'm talking screaming bloody murder in the truck, dude. And I'm. I'm throwing all seven different kinds of smoke.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
To where eventually I lost my.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Scotty, you gotta shut up. Might not have been shut up, but it's like, you gotta stop crying. Come on, man. Work with me. Ah, dude, I couldn't take it, bro. Of course. Pull my phone, text away. Scotty's losing it.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
I pull the entire way home. Then I get out, park, truck goes off. She stops crying when the truck goes off. Get another car. I look back at her. She's got, you know, the tears, her welted eyes, the saddest thing in the world.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Pull her out. Kind of like a jerk motion to get her out and, like, just set her on the ground while I get the backpack and everything else. I'm pissed.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Yeah.
Willie Compton
Because I'm like, dude, what the are we doing, man?
Sherman Young
Like, I'm chopped liver, apparently.
Willie Compton
Yeah, dude, we're gonna get home. You're gonna see mom again.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Pick her up, go and set her on the kitchen counter. I sit on the kitchen counter. It's silent in the house. Feel waffled down on my feet. And I'm just looking at Scotty. I'm like, dude, what was this? That. What are you doing? We're home. I told you we were coming home. Yeah, like, dude, we're beefing right now.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Told her straight up. I'm like, when mom gets home, I'm tell. I'm telling this to Scotty. When mom gets home, I'm giving her the bottle, and I'm like, you got Scotty?
Sherman Young
Because I'm done with you.
Willie Compton
Yeah. I can't talk to you right now.
Sherman Young
I don't negotiate with Terrence.
Willie Compton
Yeah.
Sherman Young
Guess what? You're being right now. All also, I don't. I don't say this to pick on you. I. I say this because it was really fun to get to see it. I've never seen you lose yourself ever. Like, upset wise. And I saw a hint of it at the zoo when you were trying to hand rude the beef jerky stick. The beef stick. Do you remember that?
Willie Compton
Were we about to get on the train?
Sherman Young
You. No, wait, it was actually right after the train. And you. You had said, like, four times In a row. Rue beef stick. Beef stick. Rue beef stick. And I think she may have been talking to me.
Willie Compton
Yeah, I think she's probably telling you a story.
Sherman Young
She probably tell me a story. You just go after the fourth one. You go, for the love of God, the be. And she finally took it from you. And you go, thank you. And just hearing that tone in your voice made me giggle. Dude, it was so funny.
Willie Compton
I lost it in the truck. It was like a split. It was like a five second moment. You do the thing, you turn up the music. I'm gonna try and beat you with this music. Can't do it. I'm just like Scotty, I'm like reaching back, trying to like rock her at a stoplight. Yeah, sweetheart, you got llama? You need water. For the love of God, talk to me.
Sherman Young
Yeah, let's go.
Willie Compton
We're gonna be home in 20 minutes.
Sherman Young
The closest I've come is just that beat the drum story that I've told you of.
Willie Compton
Just.
Sherman Young
Oh, my God, the grip that I had on the steering wheel. And I was in some sour mood with.
Willie Compton
No, get back there and shake him.
Sherman Young
I did. I grabbed her seat. Hey, Scarlet, let's quit hitting that button. What are we doing? You've hit it 30 times. Not to change the mood too much, but I do have it says on here, sad, sad, sad warning. Are you okay with that?
Willie Compton
I'm good with the sad warning.
Sherman Young
Okay, I'll walk in here. Fellas, I'm writing to you too, as fellow dads and to all the other dads out there listening, some of you may know what I'm going through and some may not. From those who have been through this before, I ask for sympathy. For those who haven't, I simply ask for for prayers. There's no easy way to put this, but my wife is leaving me. It certainly is a shock to see the sentence written out, but I can't say I didn't know that this was coming. It's something I've dreaded and. But my wife and I have been talking about it for months. And the day has finally come. The worst part about all of this is she's taking my 18 month old daughter and my unborn daughter in parentheses. My wife is pregnant with our second. She's taking them with her. I pleaded and begged with my wife that my daughter could stay with me, but it was a fight I was never going to win. And now flights are booked, bags are packed, and I'm watching the three biggest loves of my life leave out my door while Tears stream down my face. I'm not sure what to do with myself. I'm not sure how I'll survive. These four days are going to be the hardest of my my life. I should probably give more context. My wife is flying with my daughters to go see her best friend's baby shower out of town. I begged her to let me come along, but she kept telling me things like it's only four days and it's an all girls shower and stop lying. There's a 0% chance you actually want to come. Maybe the first part of my email was a bit dramatic, but I'm obviously still stressed about what I'm going to do this coming weekend. She's a great, great cook, so I'll be missing out on our cooking. So I'll probably have to order a pizza and wings just to survive. And I'll probably be lonely. So I'll probably have to go out to the bar and watch college basketball with boys just to distract my myself. And the house is probably going to be really, really peaceful and quiet and that's probably going to be devastating. Anyways, this coming weekend is going to be absolutely brutal on me this weekend. So appreciate any and all prayers you can send my way. Love the pod. It makes it so comforting knowing that there's other dads out there going through the same little struggles and that we're not alone. Wishing you guys the best from a very lonely and depressing and not at all awesome home this weekend. Dom,
Willie Compton
can I say something? Yeah you,
Sherman Young
Bro.
Willie Compton
That's an April 1st. That's an April fool's joke, dog. I didn't start the transition until you said pizza and wings. Yeah, it took me long. Dude was like, I'm trying to put some stuff together. Like I'm thinking the wheels going in your head. I was sad for him. I'm like, damn, we, we. You know this dude wrote in.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
It's talking about his wife leaving him.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Like I'm thinking divorced, like leaving.
Sherman Young
A lot of us did.
Willie Compton
And the four day thing, I started to get confused. I'm like, so wait a minute, like are they getting divorced? And he's wanting to go on this baby shower. It's an all girls one. It's an all girls one stop line. You don't even want to to come. And I'm thinking, is she cheating on him? Was she not letting him come if this is his last hurrah with seeing the kids, like let me come to the dude.
Sherman Young
Maybe even worse than cheating. She's taking the kids to a baby shower out of town. I think the worst part about it all was Sher was talking earlier about how, like, I don't even look at the voicemails. I trust you. He got halfway through that and he's like, should we add this to the show? Like, this is sad. Oh, yeah. I don't listen to voicemails, but I read. I read the. The emails, and that one had me for like, the first half. And then once he got to the. The four days part, I'm like, wait, hold on.
Willie Compton
Yeah, I started to get confused. I'm like, is. He's just like, there. She's leaving him. Excuse me. She's just going on the weekend. Baby shower. But is she coming back? I'm only going to be gone four days. I'm like, okay, so what's that? That's kind of a weird way to separate. And then maybe he just wanted to last. Like, just be around the family one last time.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
And then she doesn't want him to come. I'm like, okay, maybe she's. She's got some other motive. And then when you hit the pizza and wings, I'm thinking, oh, that's kind of a. Maybe he's just trying to jive with the brand while he's telling us something really deep and serious. And I'm sitting here thinking, like, man, I don't have words for him other than just a Becky, I'm really sorry you're going through that. We'll sit with you in this.
Sherman Young
I probably still don't have words for him now that I have the full picture, but.
Willie Compton
But the whole turn.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Or it's just he's sad because he's living for a weekend that well, Will.
Sherman Young
Is that not a big deal? I'm sorry.
Willie Compton
Huge deal. The alerts. We cry every week. We do all these. This dude's being vulnerable, Talking about his wife's leaving him for four days. This onboard child. Well, now it's four. Now it's a joke. Now it's. It's a joke. Will.
Sherman Young
What?
Willie Compton
No. Anybody that's been listening to the pod for this long and got to that moment, the sad. Sad alert. Everything that goes on with us each week, the tears. A main crew with sad alert written on the sheet.
Sherman Young
There wasn't actually Saddler written. Just for the record, I added that. That's a Sherman Young original. I did great.
Willie Compton
That was great.
Sherman Young
Thank you.
Willie Compton
You had me. You had me the whole way until I'm like, these, bro, he has to go. You know, if. If you've gone through this. I ask for some sympathy. If you haven't pray for me. And then the leading with my. She's leaving me.
Sherman Young
Yeah. For four days during March. The kids.
Willie Compton
This is March.
Sherman Young
This is.
Willie Compton
This is March.
Sherman Young
This is March. There goes my bracket. Bracket. Busted.
Willie Compton
Who wrote that in?
Sherman Young
That was Dominic Rosa.
Willie Compton
Dominic Rosa. Well crafted.
Sherman Young
Good.
Willie Compton
Yes. Great. Yeah. Cuz you also was fluffing it as well. I'm thinking I'm about to take tear up.
Sherman Young
I'm supposed to tear it up.
Willie Compton
I'm thinking, how do I sit in this moment with him versus just like giving him. I hope he's not like wanting us to give advice because I'm thinking, dude, I don't know.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
That's brutal.
Sherman Young
It's still a very serious.
Willie Compton
That's still. It's still very like the joke that we run.
Sherman Young
That is very serious.
Willie Compton
Well crafted, well written. Sher was on board.
Sherman Young
I was Will on air. I do want to say I am sorry if. If that. If that did gut you.
Willie Compton
I thought. But we.
Sherman Young
We.
Willie Compton
I thought she was leaving him. Then I thought she's cheating on him.
Sherman Young
We often.
Willie Compton
And he's just writing to us like, he's like, I'm going to write into the boys.
Sherman Young
Yeah. When we do have sad stuff on here, we. We try to celebrate like somebody in their sadness. For anybody that does write actual sad things into the podcast because we do often read that and we do love coming around our brothers.
Willie Compton
So for sure, we love putting our arms around our guys.
Sherman Young
We love putting our arms around our guys. So we will put that out there. But I could. I could see why you'd be a little sad boy on that. And I apologize if that hit too.
Willie Compton
No, that was great. You got. You got me good, Dom. Got us.
Sherman Young
Yeah. And like, obviously, best wishes to dominate.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Best. Yeah.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Did. Did you have some emails that you.
Willie Compton
I don't. My comments are kind of everywhere.
Sherman Young
I. I think they're right here next to our Dan Gable. Oh, there we bobblehead.
Willie Compton
It's hiding behind the.
Sherman Young
The rabbit. Okay,
Willie Compton
I got a couple. I'll rip these. Where we at?
Sherman Young
215.
Willie Compton
115.
Sherman Young
115.
Willie Compton
Should we just rip these and rock?
Sherman Young
I have a lesson of the week.
Willie Compton
Okay. Yeah. Yes.
Sherman Young
Do one of those and then.
Willie Compton
Okay, here we go. What's up, boys? Cube here. Evan Coupe, Tier 1 with the boys Cub. You gotta give our boy Cooper Super Comstock graphic credit. Yes. When you use this graphic.
Sherman Young
Yes.
Willie Compton
Love, Coop. Absolute Certified Tier 1 Sicko. PT Sicko. ST. Sicko. I think he's went through buds training because. Here we go.
Sherman Young
Very big clips page for four.
Willie Compton
Yes, yes, check it out. Just wanted to share some big news. I'm becoming a dad this October.
Sherman Young
Come on, come on.
Willie Compton
Been rocking with for the dads and busting for a long time. Now he has, he's again. This is a certified sicko for the boys. And I've learned a ton from watching you guys build what you've built. It's honestly helped shape how I think about fatherhood, work ethic and showing up every day. One thing I'm excited to teach my son or daughter is to always bring value, but also know your worth, work hard, be loyal, bet on yourself, and when the time comes, don't be afraid to build your own table if a seat never opens up. I love that. Grateful for the inspiration you guys have given me over the years. Fatherhood's the biggest contract I'll ever sign. Appreciate you boys.
Sherman Young
Let's go.
Willie Compton
Coop. Thank you for writing in, man. This is awesome. And congratulations to you and wife.
Sherman Young
Congratulations.
Willie Compton
Bud's training complete. He's become a PT sicko.
Sherman Young
I hope you had a good March 14th.
Willie Compton
Hope you had a good March 14th.
Sherman Young
Come on, come on, come on.
Willie Compton
I do have one I want to hit here because I saw something in here here that I'm curious to read. This is from Timothy Callahan, PT Sixers. I wanted to tell you the incredible story of what I like to think has led me to believe that everything does happen for a reason. For the last 10 years, I've been a high functioning alcoholic. From being the life of the party in college to realizing as I prepared to leave my twenties that the party never stopped. I was the only one still partying this year. On my 30th birthday in September, something higher than than me, something higher than me told me that I'm done partying. I've tried to cut back on drinking in the past, but under my own power, I never succeeded that. This was different. It felt like a call. It felt like a calling as months went by, staying dry and hitting the weights. My wife, we got married in June last year. Decided it was time to start trying. Was this because I was finally stepping up and being the man she always knew I could be? Was it my newfound motivation and success at work was. Was it that I was in the best shape that I've been in since college? I'm still not sure, but nonetheless, nonetheless. Bud's training was sick.
Sherman Young
Come on.
Willie Compton
I stress. I stress was eight weeks ago. I stress was eight weeks ago. Wonder what he mean.
Sherman Young
Go with I stress because eight weeks ago we.
Willie Compton
Okay, I was stressed. There we go. That was. That was probably it. I was stressed because eight weeks ago we found out that we're expecting. Eight weeks ago is also week that my friend Austin introduced me to the pod. Just days before learning the news as. As I near my six month sobriety milestone. Listening and learning weekly, I've learned that it's a boy. The due date, September 12th, my 31st birthday. And what will be exactly one year from making the best decision of my life. Taking my life back. My wife Sarah has supported me through everything. She was there when I was struggling and celebrated. Celebrates all my successes, even the small ones. Listening to the pod makes me feel ready to be there for her for what I'm sure will be our hardest, most rewarding journey yet. Garbages are out, dishes are done. The dog is walked. Steaks are dry. Aging for steak and blowjob day this Saturday, March 14th. Can't wait to crack a celebratory Olipop this September. Tim. Tim. Thank you for writing in my friend Tim.
Sherman Young
Very humbling email. Yeah, that goes in the humbling category, dude.
Willie Compton
Yeah. And thank you for sharing the high functioning alcoholic. All of that, dude, thank you for sharing that story. Thank you for sharing why you felt like those are the reasons that you turned everything around and now you're about to be a dad.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Which you're right, is the best thing in the world. The hardest thing in the world. So congratulations, man. That is awesome.
Sherman Young
It. It makes this. This podcast is really, really fun and cool because we are currently wearing robes from a seance that we conducted earlier to, you know, ward off the girl dad or the curse, man. The girl only curse.
Willie Compton
Root ourselves of the curse.
Sherman Young
Also a PT Sicko that introduced himself. I went to that Pokemon ripping packs thing with Taylor, the Expo and there was a PT Sicko talking to him and he actually said he listened to for the dads and he was trying to explain to me why he liked it. He was like, you know, I like the genuine, like the really genuine moments and how you like you. You guys. I go, the shitheadedness. He goes, yes, the. Coupled with the. The shitheadedness. And I think that's what makes the. The show so great. I was like, well, dude, thank you. Like, that's, that's a very, like, I love hearing that review. But that is what I love about this show is you can have emails like that that it's like, man, I just, I love that you are loving Life, finding, purpose, joy, joy. All stuff. And that. Listen to our podcast is a part of that.
Willie Compton
Your journey.
Sherman Young
Yeah, your journey that's in your brain.
Willie Compton
Was short wiring there for a second.
Sherman Young
Yeah. That, you know, with the headedness.
Willie Compton
Yeah, yeah, this is it. This is March.
Sherman Young
Yeah. Well, that. That was how he was. He was trying to get the word headedness and I had to. Yeah, I had to jump in there, feed the word because he. He didn't want to be insulting. I was like, you're not.
Willie Compton
Yeah. Like, that's the bottom.
Sherman Young
We just talked about Staking blow jobs for a long time. Speaking of, I have our, like, a nice little lesson.
Willie Compton
It's a great lesson. Follow the steak and blow job day.
Sherman Young
And before I go into it, I do, we got some comments that maybe the Dan Gable quotes were too much. That we were doing too many of them.
Willie Compton
Really?
Sherman Young
Yeah. And I don't want to like.
Willie Compton
Yeah, no, we didn't.
Sherman Young
Yeah. I didn't want to make a big deal about it, but there were a couple. Couple, like, hey, Dan Gable, quote every week, like, is this really what we're gonna do?
Willie Compton
Oh, that sucks. How you get the action figure? We got the bubble head.
Sherman Young
And so I switched it up. I switched it up. This one comes from Gan Dable. Success is earned in the hours nobody sees. And that's from Coach Gan D. Just to switch it up for any of this.
Willie Compton
I like his vibe.
Sherman Young
Yeah.
Willie Compton
Yeah, I like his vibe.
Sherman Young
Reminiscent. Yeah, reminiscent. My topic quote lesson of the week is intentional time with the wifey. Jill and I have been putting our phones down, slash turning off the TV and settling and setting down her Kindle for a mandatory 10 minute cuddle session every night. I know that doesn't sound very long. And it's like, wait, that's mandatory.
Willie Compton
Like, we talking about cuddle, cuddle, like
Sherman Young
snuggle or cuddle, Snuggle, snuggle. No, no, Shockwave.
Willie Compton
We're okay.
Sherman Young
Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're just. We're literally talking 10 minutes of cuddling in bed. No shockwave.
Willie Compton
Okay.
Sherman Young
No pun. Every night. And it's been unreal. The pillow talk that we've been having during these times is something that's been lacking in our relationship for months. It's been awesome from a connection standpoint, but also extremely calming and relaxing. Relaxing has been helping us fall asleep faster. That's when you know it's a good convo when you fall asleep mid conversation, which is something that we hadn't had in months, which is honestly kind of sad that, like, the screens had done that to us in general, I've been trying to emphasize dating my wifey, flirting with her, joking with wifey, asking wifey her opinion on things, kissing her, hugging her respectfully, grabbing cheek while she's on the step stool, reaching for the nice bowls that we keep in the higher kitchen cabinets, and hitting her with a little in parentheses, I wrote she loves that. But yes. 10 minute of mandatory cuddle sesh. It's fire. It's very easy to implement.
Willie Compton
Love that.
Sherman Young
And I know that that sounds like a bit like, oh, man, that's kind of Sad, Sherman. Like 10 minutes of cuddle, but just with everything with the baby and stuff. Like, you kind of lose you a little bit. You gotta get back into that. Like, hey, we're. We're lovey dovey.
Willie Compton
Like, back into the courtship.
Sherman Young
Yeah, we're lovey w. Boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wifey. Like, that's my girl. It's been really great.
Willie Compton
That's bae.
Sherman Young
That's bae.
Willie Compton
You.
Sherman Young
You want a date or no?
Willie Compton
Good lesson.
Sherman Young
Thank you, dude.
Willie Compton

Together, they tackle everything from learning that yet another baby girl is on the way (despite all prayers for a boy!), dissect funny and awkward family moments (the eternal battles for snacks and sweets), swap stories from Steak & BJ Day, share fitness and lifestyle hacks, and celebrate community milestones. The episode is rich with reflections on parenting, partnership, family relationships, vulnerability, and, as always, the never-ending journey of being a dad.
On being a girl dad:
“The science is in, the decision is final and I cannot be more grateful … We are proudly continuing the current policy of girl dad dominance.” — Will (05:06)
On learning from dad mistakes:
“Poop, pee, and pubes. I can wrap my head around pubes out of the three...” — Will (30:34)
On family snack drama:
“My Thorn? My Thorn is Opa eating my chocolate donut. Everybody starts laughing ... I'm more so venting now that I have For The Dads.” — Will (20:11)
On PT6 community:
“We love to laugh, we love to bust balls. We love to talk about our struggles, our learns. We love to build community.” — Will (07:40)
On Steak & BJ Day mishaps:

“Let's just say fluff the sheet just a little bit.” — Sherman (50:50)
On appreciating fleeting moments:
“It's such a reminder that everything is so fleeting … Just, dude, enjoy it as much as you can.” — Will (61:26)
On fitness & self-accountability:
“Step one is being vulnerable, talking about my shortcomings where I'm at.” — Will (109:32)
On mandatory cuddle time:
“Jill and I have been putting our phones down ... mandatory 10 minute cuddle session every night. ... Pillow talk that we've been having during these times is something that's been lacking in our relationship for months.” — Sherman (155:39)
This episode reinforces the “For The Dads” mission: fostering an open, irreverently honest, and supportive dad community—one where struggles, failures, and little victories are all shared and celebrated. The hosts’ blend of silliness, vulnerability, and practical advice creates space for dads to be real about everything from messy bathrooms to complex feelings about parenting, marriage, and manhood.
“We just want some good old fashioned dad convos.” — Will (44:37)
