Yes, we are back to chat about Thailand alongside Josh Daniel. It's by order of the Peaky Blinders. And if you heard us a couple weeks ago break down the White Lotus penultimate episode, you've come back to the right place because we are here to discuss season three, episode eight. The finale of the most recent season of the Mike White saga takes place in a luxury resort and it's going to have spoilers. The show is available on hbo. If you don't care about spoilers, we're going to jump right in. Josh, this is a, a show that I think objectively just got better and better and better. And the last three, four episodes were amazing television. Now this finale was like an hour and 20 minutes. It was debuted and promoted as an hour and 30. We can cut the semantics. It was about an hour and 20. And I want to hear your, your immediate thoughts. We've had about a week now to sit with it. What, what did you think about, about this amor fati hour 27 minute episode?
A
I thought, I thought it was amazing. Thought it tied, tied the, the bow perfectly. Couldn't have been any, any better. I think maybe, possibly maybe one episode less maybe in the season. But I'm not going to complain with more television. But I thought that he just did a great job tying everything together. And as you and I have discussed offline, I mean, I, I'm just a little annoyed with how people watch, you know, people, people watch the, the White Lotus and how they process the show and how they expect too much and they think it's a severance kind of show and it's a puzzle box kind of show, but it's not, it's just a deep thinking, a lot of metaphors, a lot of, a lot of stuff that's not relevant necessarily to the end scene. That everyone was waiting. Everyone thought that. Because I almost wish that he didn't tease the death early on. I think that's, that's my nitpick over time as I've kind of saddled my thoughts about this, that if he never teased that there was this big shootout and this big death early on, I think people would have liked the ending a lot better because. Or just kind of would have liked the journey to the end a lot better because everyone was waiting. Oh, what's, what does this have to do with anything? What does this mean? How is this relevant? And I feel like if everyone just sat there and just waited, that was kind of like a, a surprise at the end, then they would have really enjoyed a lot of the conversational aspects and a lot of the deep metaphorical aspects of the show.
B
That's a great point. And I'd love to kind of go a little bit deeper because obviously the theme for White Lotus is show the death or at least show that there is death and then move back a week or so. And so in season one, it was a casket getting boarded onto a plane. In season two, it was Megan Fahey finding a body in the ocean. What do you think would have been a better way to maybe have kind of teased the death here?
A
I just wish that it kind of just happened, you know, I, I didn't need to be hinted that there was going to be a death at the end. Like I would have been fine if it just happened, you know?
B
Yeah, I, I do think there was a lot of overt over emphasizing of a gun. Every time a gun entered the scene, it was like, oh, make sure you remember that gun. It's like, yeah, we're pretty smart. Like we watch this show. But the one thing that Mike White has said, and it's, it's one of the things that you love about TV is he basically has said it. And he is a well known, flamboyant Hollywood now star, I would call him a star, is he has said, if you don't want to sleep with me, get out of my bed. Right? Where he's like, if you don't want to watch my show, you don't have to watch it. And I think one pure example for this is the fact that he now has teased a Ratcliffe family member dying like 7 times in this season. Right. We had the pure fake out a few episodes ago, which I, but I was like, oh my God, he killed his wife. He shot her in the bed. Oh my God. Oh my God. And then it was a dream. And then he did it again later in the episode. And then now with this fake out of the death of Locky, people are frustrated. I liked it because when Lockheed woke up, I had this breath of relief because I did not want this poor kid to die. And of all the people that deserve to die in this season, he was probably the least one. Um, now I, I, I wish he had kind of stayed in Thailand. That would have been cool. Kind of like the season one kid that stayed in Hawaii because clearly he did not want to go back to America and, and face what he has to face. But you know what, Locky? You're going to college. Things are going to get fun. You can experiment, you can jack off whoever you want in college. You know, and it's just, you can. You can stay away from your brother, but overall, let's kind of go one, one grouping at a time. We'll start with the Ratliff family. Saxon's heel turn from douche to saved soul, I thought was really well executed. And I ended up really liking him at the end.
A
I think he was. He was my favorite character in the entire show by far. I mean, it's crazy. I think it was a unanimous. It was a consensus in the beginning that he was the most hated character. Yeah. And everyone was like, okay, here we go. We're just gonna get, like a douche for the whole entire show. And. And we did, but he was like, a likable douche.
B
Yeah.
A
I really liked him a lot.
B
I agree. And I don't think, you know, I had this weird feeling in this prediction in my mind that he was going to turn out to be, like, a virgin. You know, like all this big talk and all this flow, flowy flamboyant, like, hey, hey, lock. This is how you do it. This is how you do it. I thought maybe we were going to get like a. A revealing scene with him and Chelsea that's like, hey, I've actually only slept with, like two girls in my life. I just put on this front that never happened. But what's cool about this show is there's so many characters that we can kind of create our own story with. You know, there's no proof that he was this man whore through Colin. You know what I mean? There's no proof that that's who he was because he does show this self conscious exterior. But I thought him and Chelsea had the best chemistry of any duo. Rick really got on my nerves. Like, it just, you know, and we talked about this last episode where it's like, Walton Goggins is a good actor. I didn't think Rick was a good character. It just like, people are like, oh, Emmy, Emmy award. No way.
A
No way. He was like, he was. He was good. Like, don't get me wrong, like, he
B
was a good ass.
A
By the way, this is like, relative to our listeners. Like, we thought that Goggins did a really good job of acting. Like, his acting was great. His facial acting was great. He played a really good grouchy. Grouch. He was a grouch. That was his role.
B
Yeah, but.
A
But he. But they wasted Goggins, in my opinion, like, he could have been something so much better. I agree. And, like, he had a really strong start to the character, and then he Kind of just fizzled off in terms of, like, what he could have been. That's kind of the same.
B
We saw a glimmer of it too, Josh. Right. In that finale when he finally came to terms and went to go talk to that therapist. And then the whole shootout scene. Right.
A
And it's the same thing with Jason Isaacs as Timothy Ratliff.
B
Bingo.
A
Like, he had a really strong start. He had a couple scenes. Like the scene when he was on. When he was on the. On the yacht talking about life and talking about his parents. And I was like, oh, wow, we're getting a lot out of Tim here. And they kind of wasted him too. But, yeah, I think that Walton Goggins and. And the character of Rick was like five or six on the list of amazing characters. And I do agree that Chelsea and Saxon had the best chemistry on the show, obviously. I mean, I think everyone's favorite was part. Was Parker Posey playing Victoria. She was freaking flawless. I mean, just everything that came out of her mouth was a meme. Obviously, there really wasn't, like, any substance to her. Like, I couldn't take her seriously, but that was the point. Like, you have a lot of this serious. These. A lot of these serious things, a lot of these serious plot lines, and you get her and it's like you can't take her seriously.
B
And.
A
And she was like the comedic relief among all the. That was going on with the family, obviously. But, I mean, just such great acting. I thought that this was maybe the best acting out of any of the three seasons. Maybe not necessarily. Like my favorite season out of the three. I. I would rank it maybe two or three. I can't decide if I like it better than one. One was just so. So much so. So long ago that I gotta just go back and watch it again.
B
It's a tough call, Josh. I. I thought about it a lot and I'm putting it at third. Yeah. Because.
A
But, but, but that means. Doesn't mean it's bad.
B
Everyone listen.
A
Because that's the thing. Yeah.
B
You know, it's still a top five show for me this year so far. Right. But third out of White Lotus seasons. And the only reason. And I went back and rewatched season one recently, and it was very cringy and it was very like. But it's like the Hangover. The Hangover will always be one of the greatest comedy movies of all time for me because it came out of nowhere and provided this new style of comedy. And that's what White Lotus did. Season one, Season Two was so good. But like you said, I think we might have the best crop of actual actors, Capital A actors in this season from Sam Rockwell coming in. And what we got from Sam Rockwell is what we were missing from Walton Goggins. And maybe Rockwell's character overshadowed how boring Goggins character was with Rick and his buddy Frank and the crazy wake up with all the prostitutes and it's like more are coming and it's like, what are we doing here? And we've all kind of been in a spot where like we just want to leave. And you got to give credit to Rick. Rick just kind of left. He like, didn't really like second guess his decision making there. Maybe the decision making that was tough is if you push over the owner of a hotel and then run away from his house and then go back to his hotel, maybe you're not having like a leisurely breakfast.
A
Yeah, yeah. It was just like a very interesting process. It was like kind of like what, just going to go back to the hotel and everything's going to be all, all, all well and fine. Obviously it's a TV show. You know how I like to just live in TV land and I don't like to nitpick the logic of how things are progressing. But no, I agree that Rick's character and that plot in itself wasn't my favorite at all. It was just. First of all, I thought it was predictable. I thought everyone, everyone knew that that was his dad and blah, blah, blah. Like, I just thought that it was a boring storyline. I just, I liked, I like White Lotus to be less plot oriented and more just people at a resort enjoying their vacation, interacting with each other, somehow overlapping with each other and just going through their internal struggle. I don't love the get off, off, off of the resort path. Like I didn't love to get off the resort path in season two either. I mean I, I like how, how we get some changes scenery for sure. But I, I enjoyed every other storyline more. But I, I think that the, that the, the cast of, as you said was phenomenal. You got Michelle Monahan, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coons. We got Mook. I mean, we got Lisa. Obviously I hated her character and you guys and the whole guy talk storyline. I actually watched her perform at Coachella on the live stream. I was watching. She made a little shout out to, to, to muck and guy talk was there.
B
Guy talk was there. Not, not a lot.
A
Not guarding a lot of the cast was.
B
He was not guarding the, the entrance.
A
He was not. He was Not. He's very bad at his job, and he's very bad at his job as a guard. Off, off camera as well. But I just thought it was really well done. I just, I really, I, I don't have a problem with how they ended the rat lip storyline.
B
I thought it was good.
A
It was great. Because you leave it open to interpretation. A lot of shows do that. Breaking Bad did it, Sopranos did that. You know, a lot of shows do that. And, and you kind of leave it open to the viewer. But I just wish that we can get like, 20 more minutes of, like, reaction to see how Tim interacts with them. Obviously, he says things are going to change, so he kind of hints it at them a little bit.
B
He's going to jail. He's going to jail.
A
He's going to jail. Who knows? If he takes a plea deal, he pleads out and, and, and he, and
B
no way to know.
A
Maybe goes like one year of prison. But I'm curious how sat. How Saxon's life is going to change professionally. Is Victoria gonna be gonna divorce Tim? Like, I, I, I want to know that stuff.
B
Yeah, I want to know, is there any money for Victoria? How smart is she? Did she put aside some of the cash? You know, what are the, what are the lineups for Saxon looking like? You know, are they going to get their phones? And is Piper going to say, you know what, I'm going to go back on the boat and go back to the mainland so that I can go and study with the Buddhists now that we don't have a family and we don't have money anymore. And so, like, all that would have been really fun. You know, what I want to know too, is, is there a chance we see Victoria in future seasons? Like, the fact that open that up,
A
like, she was such a fan favorite too, that it was kind of not. It wasn't Jennifer Coolidge esque. Kind of was like, different, different bimbos. I like different kind of bimbos. I gotta be honest. Oh, she was better for sure. She was so great. She probably practiced so long to get that accent. Like, can't let that go to waste. It would be great to see her. You know, maybe Tim's in jail and she needs a vacation and gets away or something like that. Like, who, like, who knows? But that would be really great. I mean, I just feel like White Lotus now is gonna have so many A list, maybe 8 1A 1B list, no actors.
B
I agree with a list knocking on
A
the door to get onto the show. And I Think that that's what happened with this season is there were so many A list actors. Like, Sam Rockwell was an ancillary character and he's such a great actor and he was, he was like the 12th character in the show, you know, so just really well done. I thought, I thought. I, I hope that we can put it, put the rest of the Belinda storyline. I think, I think we're done with it, right?
B
What? Hold on. I want to put one more bow in on the rat lifts. I, I really liked the way that it all came about with the blender usage. And obviously it was predictable, right? From the first episode when they talked about the death route. A little bit predictable, but I was okay with it because guess what? We predicted it, right?
A
I mean, like, it's fine. It was, it was on purpose. Like, he wasn't trying to hide it. Like, I don't think he was trying to hide it with the suicide tree and the fruit or whatever. I, I don't.
B
I was shocked. I was shocked that he didn't kill his family. Genuinely. Like, I thought he was going to execute all of them. And then when he slaps the drink out, that was not predictable. I did not see that coming. The coconut milk is off.
A
The coconut milk is off. It's so good.
B
It's like, what are we doing? Pina coladas with, you know, pina coladas and like, tam. We have wine.
A
We have wine.
B
And then, and then I, you know, like, I, I felt like it was believable that the little, you know, 17 year old wanted to use the blender that had some of the liquor in it because he wanted to try it, you know, like, oh, yeah. People are like, oh, it's so unrealistic. He didn't wash it. I'm like, no, it's not.
A
It's just like crazy. It's like, oh. Because Lachlan says he can live comfortably without money. He's, he's, he's spared. He's spared
B
immediately. And meanwhile, what is he spared of? He's about to lose his entire family, right?
A
It's like, oh, it's like, like, like he's gonna live. Everyone's gonna die. He's just gonna be like, okay, barred for life.
B
Yeah, probably no life insurance because of. He's gonna lose. Tim's gonna lose all of his money. But I liked it all. I thought he was gonna jump into the ocean at the end. I thought there were all these things you could even see. Mike White even gave us like a second of Saxon's face when he checked his phone. Look at his dad. It was all really good.
A
The facial acting in this season was unbelievable. I don't think anything will top Megan Fahey in the last episode of season two. Like, her facial, like, piercing blue eyes and her freckles, like, zooming out her face. But the facial acting this season and Saxon in, in Patrick Schwarzenegger in general, he, he was incredible. Like, you could feel the emotion. You could feel his, like, genuine, like, reaction to things. Like when, when, when, when Chloe asks him if they could have sex. And Greg Gary can watch, watch them. Like, he's like, what? What? No, no.
B
And that was a prediction that wound up. We, everyone was wrong. We all thought like, oh, for sure. GRE story and it's all fake. No, he really was a cuck. And he really then finished with like a little wink on his face to his girl who was trying to find a guy. But I thought it was really good that Chelsea passed away, but will live on forever in Saxon because of the book and the knowledge that she gave him. And kind of like that little, like, handoff I felt like was a good little tie up for her story. Because realistically, Chelsea didn't really have a lot of a role the last few episodes with Rick on in Thailand and Bangkok. And she was just kind of like, I love him. And it's, it's a good message to be like, hey, listen to the ladies out there. You can't fix them all. Like, Rick was unfixable. Yeah,
A
I, I, I got a little annoyed by, like, how like, insistent she was of, oh, we're meant to be. It was like, like, it's just like it was for someone who seemed intelligent, a little bit intelligent at least. Like, it made no sense to me.
B
But, but people get blinded by love,
A
and that's what it was.
B
Even at the end when Rick's like, you know, gave. Finally gave her a little bit of a crumb for the koi pond where he, she's, he's like, that's the plan. That's all he said where she's like, we're be together. And he's like, that's the plan. And she's like, really? Like, you finally you're gonna say this. Like, seriously. Like, it was just very funny and very realistic. And so as we move on to a less realistic plot, Belinda and Zion, I kind of like the negotiating scene.
A
I was about to say that I think the, I don't know the actor's name that plays Zion, but I thought he was really good.
B
I would like to see him in more stuff.
A
Yeah. And I heard that. That there was supposed to be a romance between Piper and Zion got cut out.
B
Yeah.
A
And like if you. I have to go back and rewatch it. But apparently if you go. If you rewatch like the scene where it was cut out, like you see her all happy and all happy go like, like Piper's like mood changes and it's because it was like supposed to be where she was supposed to be happier after that. But like I'm very happy there wasn't that like rogue rom com aspect. They would have just not fit in.
B
And the actress Hook who played Piper had said it was a very relaxed, goofy scene and it just wouldn't have fit with the vibe of the, of the episode. I would have been fine with it in a. In the previous episode. You know what I mean? Where it's like give us one young adult fling because that's where people can connect on previous seasons and it doesn't. His name's Nicholas Duvernay. He's got from. From New York, lives in California and he was in that show Bel Air on Peacock. So I haven't seen him in anything. But hopefully he's in some upcoming. Upcoming stuff. Maybe this will be his coming out party. Belinda, it just, it just didn't. It just didn't. The whole season. It just didn't really do anything for me. The ballista stuff.
A
I think, I think that they closed it out. Like, I don't think there's anything more there. I also, I don't want to.
B
They gave it the Tanya tie in which Belinda had to say no to Pornchai in a very similar way, but not at all similar because like Tanya like promised Belinda and she had like a plan written up. Pornchai just got like a half yes one time that they were going to start a business together. So it didn't really feel like it was totally mirroring. And Belinda let her be rich for one minute. You know, it's like even funny enough in this society. Five million, Josh, as I will. I will quote the great. The great line from succession. 5 million is kind of like poor rich money. You know what I mean? Like, I mean.
A
Yeah, I mean it's, it's. If you're trying to be like mega
B
rich but like, even if you're trying to start a business, like you're going to spend.
A
Yeah. Oh yeah. 5 million for starting a business with overhead and yeah, all your overhead that. I mean, if you're starting a spa, I don't think it's like that big of a deal. Like if you're trying to start a four seasons, that's nights nothing.
B
The great Connor Roy, just awesome. He always has gold out of succession. He's just like 5 million. You just can't really do anything with. You know, you're kind of stuck guess
A
on the, on the Belinda point. Do you think we're done with Greg?
B
Yeah, we're done with.
A
I hope so.
B
We're done with.
A
He was great though. Like he did a great job. Character was great.
B
I liked him. All right, let's. We. We've been. We've been burying the lead. My favorite storyline, I think a lot of people's favorite storyline were the three ladies, you know, Kate, Lori and Jacqueline. And they finished in in prime form. I thought they were the best of the past few episodes. Their escapades on the moon party running through the downtown and then dealing with going out with the, with the Russians and then the caddy fight where it's like one girl in every group is like, you should hook up with him and then she's the one that goes to hook up with him. That's so, so accurate. It happens with guys too. I'm not going to gender shame in any way. It's just funny. And then the way that, that, that Carrie Coon played it, she. She deserves an Emmy. She's the one out of the show
A
that she was really good. I thought. I kind of was like annoyed with her character in the beginning. But then she, like she was supposed to be annoying. Like she was supposed to be that like whiny little. She was just building up, you know, like that. The whiny friend of the group. She was so good. That last monologue in the final episode that she had the table right there, Emmy award winning. So good, authentic, so real emotion. Yeah. Felt that emotion.
B
Every single person I know that's in like their 30s and 40s in a female friend group texted me and we talked about it. Said that this is so realistic, it's just so real because you judge yourself but then you also judge your friends and then you base yourself off your friends and you're either you know, one of the rich ones or you're one of the, the ones who's venmoing for an exact change to try to split up. You know, there's like everything so real there. And I'm happy that she turned into happiness because I had, I had this feeling, Josh, and I thought it was going to turn into a petty angry vibe. And I'm happy that she Just kind of finished it with like, hey, we're still friends. I liked it.
A
You know, I was shocked by that though. I mean like Jacqueline, played by Michelle Monahan, could not be, cannot be more
B
terrible of a person, but it's realistic because like, no, for sure want to leave that, that, that vacation.
A
Yeah. You don't want to like. Yeah. Burn bridges completely. You know, you kind of like, like I'm a very, I'm a person who likes to just like forgive and forget. Like, I don't want things that like, like that happen over time, like, you know, boil over and like it like I've never like ended a friendship before. You know what I mean?
B
Like. Right.
A
Things. Yeah, you just get over it. And so like, yeah, it seemed very, it was very realistic.
B
Yes. And then you get the scene where, oh my goodness, you've got the, the one night stand with Alexi when he then asks. Or the extortion. And it's. Was this, in this episode?
A
That was seven.
B
That was seven. Okay, so then you've got the, the come up from it where she gets asked to go hang at the pool. And I thought for sure they were going to talk about it. I'm surprised she never brought it up.
A
I, I think she was embarrassed, but she bawled out.
B
She's like, I escaped. I, you know, like it would have been a cool story, but you're right, I think she probably was embarrassed.
A
Yeah. And like it probably would have like wasted some, some television time for them to be like, oh my God, Lori. Like, oh my God. Blah, blah. Like. But yeah, I thought that the three friends. A lot of people didn't, a lot of simple minded people didn't like this storyline at all because they were just like, what was the point of it? What was the point of it? It's like there was no point of it. It was just to show these three friends going on vacation, going through three different inter internal struggles like they were all going through in life. They're like in their 40s going through it like, whatever with, professionally, personally with their, with their home lives and whatever. That was the point of it. And they go, they escape. They go to this perfect escape and they all realize different things about themselves. And that was the point.
B
Okay, and before we finish off with our, with our Thai duo, I want to say I remember watching and yelling at the TV because, you know, Zion didn't even really need this stress appointment, right? He didn't need it. He's happy. He just made millions of dollars for his mom. He's standing There. And he sees this, like, disheveled older man come up to his therapist and be like, I need an appointment right now. I need an appointment now. If I'm Zion, I'm like, hey, dude, take my appointment. Hey, Amrita, give me a refund. I'm out of here. Everything would have been avoided. There wouldn't have been a shooting. Everything would have been avoided. I'm like, just, Amrita, just see him for five minutes. You know what I mean?
A
Yeah. And people were kind of like, she's the real villain of the show that she did. That was a big meme going around.
B
That's fine.
A
Like, she is a professional. She can't just be like, I. There was, like, a part of me that, like, early on this show, like, did she have, like, an emotional attraction towards Rick?
B
I thought they. I thought there was something. I thought she, like, knew who he was, you know, like, she said that
A
he touched her soul.
B
Yeah, I thought there was something there. But maybe she's really good at her job, you know, and she. She was. She got Rick to start thinking, and then obviously. Why would you go days without having a follow up?
A
You know?
B
It's like, I wish they had just met right away.
A
Rick is an idiot.
B
Yeah, Rick, that's not a great character. All right, lastly, really interesting stuff where. Where Valentin goes up to Guy Talk. Guy Talk, the worst detective ever, basically gives away that he knows that the Russians robbed the place. He's like, can you tell me their exact names and, like, where they were on the day of the robbery? And so Valentin goes, and I was surprised. He, like, Valentin, I thought was gonna, like, threaten him in some way. Instead, he, like, tries to plead to his conscience, and it works. And Guy Talk decides not to rat out his co worker. Not even his buddy. His co worker.
A
Now, why do you think?
B
I. I think he is a coward, genuinely. Yeah. I just think confrontation. Yeah, yeah. It's just like that involves some sort of drama and confrontation. And he was going to quit anyways in his mind at that moment, Right. And then obviously, we get the shootout and we get Guy Talk with the gun, and we get the longest bridge run ever. And Guy Talk and Rick. First off, Rick's like, a perfect shot, right? He, like, shoots everyone on the perfect first shot, which was wild. Right. When I saw Chelsea there, I knew she was dead. I knew she was dead. There was no doubt about it. Knew she was dead. Why are you running with Rick? Run away from Rick, you know what I mean? It's just like all this stuff, but you Know what? She said it. She's like, whatever happens to you happens to me. That's when I also knew, back in the first beginning of the episode, I'm like, oh, I think they're going to die. And then Gaitak makes the shot, and he basically trades his soul for the girl he wants and the job he wants, and he gets it all done. And obviously, you know, Sri La. Sritala, her bodyguards get killed, and so there's only one person left standing, and it's guy talk. And he gets Mook and he gets Rita La. And I liked it. I thought it was a really good bow on, like, the. The. You know, it's tough. It's tough to really nail the. The foreign vibe, right? The hosts, and they did it in the Italy stuff with the. With the prostitutes and with the host, and they really did a good job, and they did it again. I really felt like the Thailand storyline, even though Mook was boring, I liked the guy talk arc and I thought it was very realistic where he just, like the 1 percenters. He also realized that he had to make a sacrifice, and that sacrifice is his humanity in a way, and he did it 100%.
A
He dropped all of his morals, all of his values for. For this. And it's kind of like similar to what you said about Chelsea in terms of, like, sometimes you get blinded by, like, your. Your. Your attraction to someone else, your emotional or physical attraction. And he kind of like. Even though. Even though Mook was, like, only after him for his status, it's really all he cared about at the end was, like, pleasing her and making her want
B
him more and his status. And he needed to be, like, violent for her to, like. Right.
A
Right. Oh, yeah, yeah, it was. It was interesting, but, like, it was kind of like a. The way, like, you know how in Spanish culture it's like Machisto, like. Yeah, yeah. And it's like where. Where, you know, you're trying to be very manly, and that's like what some. Some girls like that. Like, some girls are attracted to that. Like, they. They won't be with someone who doesn't have that much Eastbo energy. So that's why it's what he. He went for at the end. I wasn't expecting it, to be honest. I thought that he was gonna stick by his word and his values, but I mean, very answer an to. To the end. To the end of. Of the show, but it makes sense that they tied it in at the end there, so. Yeah, but I. Whatever. I mean, it was still good Like, I think the acting was still great. You know, I was like, Mook was a good actress. Like, she was a good actress.
B
Storyline was very, very TV friendly, you know.
A
Yeah.
B
And there was also something that I read where it's like, if you are such a big pop star in some countries, you're not allowed to have certain a risque storyline. So maybe there was some stuff they had to cut out because she is like one of the most popular women in the world.
A
Literally.
B
Literally.
A
She. I heard that. So like they, they were filming the show for seven months, like at, at the resort in Thailand. And like they had to have like insane surveillance for her specifically because of how famous she is.
B
Wow.
A
Like bodyguards and surveillance. Because they were filming for so long and like they actually stay there. Like they don't leave.
B
Wow. Yeah. Vacation for like two months.
A
He was like, almost like, didn't. Wasn't able to cast her because of all the different protections that like her people have on her. Like they were worried that she wasn't going to be able to, you know, escape the fame and fandom from people that were there. So. Really interesting. I kind of like having that like non actor, actress, celebrity in the show. Like, I, I hope it continues with that. And if he does, I'm curious to see who he brings in.
B
Okay, so let's do it. That parlays perfectly into next season. Obviously a lot of the calls are for a white lotus, a snowy lotus. There's no doubt about it. That would be iconic. And if we did have it, what are some really good spots that you would like?
A
I mean, I would. I think I already kind of know where it's the region. It is. But I would love like a ski resort.
B
Right.
A
In Aspen or America, you think?
B
Or like, I like Swiss Alps. Swiss.
A
That would be great. Oh, so then it could be. It still could be. Because I've heard Europe is going to be the location. Oh, that would be great. Like, that's what I like. Is there a mat or like an Italian Alps or like a. Yeah, no, that would, that would be phenomenal that. I, I just think it'd be different to do cold weather climate. And I think like someone dies, like skiing into a tree or something, like something weird like that. Well, I think it's got to be a murder helmet.
B
Gotta be a murder, right? I guess it doesn't have to be.
A
Doesn't have to be. But it could be negligent. Negligent homicides.
B
Season one was negligent.
A
Yeah. Same with season two. I mean, they weren't like, she just, you know, I mean, it kind of. It was, it was, it was like,
B
it was like, man, they were supposed to kill her.
A
But. Yeah, but I, I would like a ski season. I love skiing personally, so I think it'd be really cool.
B
Okay, so let me pull up another. A couple. I made a list here. A couple more good ideas here. I would love a safari. South Africa, Tanzania. A safari season. Especially after watching 1923 and just getting into the Africa vibes. I would really dig. And he. Obviously, Mike White has shown a proportion to love these people. Bring us, bring us out to the outback, throw us into the desert in Australia. That would be really fun. And then lastly maybe Brazil. Brazil would be something that maybe during Carnival or something like that in Rio,
A
I don't know, Mexico, like a Cabo or something.
B
Yeah, Cabo would be nice, but we just had too many like, beachy spots. I want you to shake it up. Get away from the beachy. Maybe. Maybe you go out to like the Hampton. You know what I mean? I don't know. I like the non America. I want to get. Maybe eventually we get back, we do our first mainland usa. I'm not ready for it yet, but. But that's what I'd like. And meanwhile, Josh, we've got some great tv. We are going to attempt to cover last the Last of Us in some sort of variety, whether it's not week to week or we cover a couple episodes at a time. The HBO season two of the Last of Us started this past week. I have not seen it yet. I need to dive in, as do you. I wouldn't hate. I wouldn't hate kind of putting together a couple episodes in a row and doing that. I just finished the Pit, which is amazing.
A
Oh, I'm like 10 episodes in or like 11. It is so good. Crazy is so. I'm very impressed with that show. I'm very impressed.
B
It is. As of right now, as we sit in april, my top 10 is looking unreal. The pit is number one guy.
A
That's. That's great. I mean, considering like the format of the show. Like, you would not expect that. But it is done so well. Done so, so well.
B
And then you got a couple Taylor Sheridan's The Landman in 1923, White Lotus, you know, a couple more good shows with Skeleton Crew from Disney, you know, and Shoresy, which I love on Hulu. And I really think there's a show that I'm watching right now that also has a good contention and it's called you'd Friends and Neighbors with Jon Hamm on Apple tv. That is really fun. There's Mobland.
A
I heard Mobland's phenomenal. I got to watch that.
B
And then the new season of Black Mirror comes out.
A
Just start. I just watched the first episode.
B
I haven't dove in yet. I've got a lot. I'm trying to play catch up. We had a month filled with a lot of sports, so I haven't. I haven't followed in with all my shows, but I just started Bodies on Netflix. You ever watch Bodies with Stephen Graham? No. It's like a Brie. It's a British kind of like, murder mystery that this one body is found in four different years. Like, I love.
A
I love murder mystery. So I'm gonna check it out.
B
1880, 1940, 2023, and 2080, the same body is found dead. So there's the same murder investigation going on. And Stephen Graham is like, behind something. And we don't know. You know, I'm only an episode in, but it's solid. It's on Netflix. It just came out last year, so that's what we're watching. And I'll tell you what, there's a new Band of Brothers kind of show coming out, a new war TV show with Jacob Elordi coming out this weekend called the Narrow Road to the Deep north on Amazon.
A
I can't imagine him in like, that kind of show, but we're going to find out. Yeah, we'll see.
B
And then. Andor Season 2 I'm excited for as well. And then there's a couple of good sports shows coming out. You got Stick, which is the Owen Wilson golf show. I don't know if you've seen that.
A
I haven't heard of it.
B
That looks. Check out Stick, Google Stick. Check out the trailer. And then there's the Dink, which is the Ben Stiller pickleball show. So shows are once again, boom. Shows are back.
A
TV's still back.
B
We're gonna keep on kind of jumping in with you guys, and we're happy that you, you enjoy the content, whether it's peaky related or not. He's Josh. I'm Daniel, and we've been.
A
So you don't have to.
