All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to call Her Creator. I am so excited for today's podcast episode. I have been manifesting this guest, and she probably doesn't even know it, but today's guest is someone I've been following for years. Chloe Lee is the creator behind Chloe Looks, where she shares elevated but still practical fashion and style tips with a community of over 800,000 women. Like, she's almost at that 1 million mark. And what I love about Chloe is that she didn't just build a following, she built a business around it. So we're going to be talking about probably affiliate marketing, brand partnerships, all the things that she does to turn this platform into a real empire while also still balancing motherhood and being a wife and everyday life. So today, we'll pull back the curtain. Now, before we jump in real quick, I just want to share about Stanley ig. If you're someone that has struggled with coming up with post ideas, I used Stanley IG this morning, scraped my social media, and it told me what to post based on stuff that I've already been posting. Like, it'll pull the best performing content ideas and it will tell you a new idea to post in conjunction with that. So make sure you check out Stanley ig. I will put it in the show notes for us. But for now, let's welcome Chloe.
Chloe Lee
Hi. Hi.
Caitlin
And before we even get started, can I tell you something?
Chloe Lee
What?
Caitlin
I was like, I'm interviewing a fashionista today. What should I wear? And then I ended up just wearing, like, the, you know, nothing. That's really cool fashion.
Chloe Lee
A classic tank. You can never go wrong.
Caitlin
Yes. You have to tell us what you're wearing today.
Chloe Lee
I'm wearing a classic. Oh, my favorite. My denim button up. Wrong with a denim button up. And my just comfy linen pants.
Caitlin
Heck, to the yes girl.
Chloe Lee
Yes. And can I tell you something?
Caitlin
Yes. Yes.
Chloe Lee
This is such a full circle moment for me because when I first started, I listened to your podcast to learn what to do, use the hooks, CTAs, and then you literally walked me through how to launch my own digital guide on sand. So thank you.
Caitlin
That means so much to me and I love you. And we're just secretly besties. We just don't even know it.
Sponsor Announcer
That's really.
Caitlin
No, that's really awesome. And, you know, she's shouted me out on stories before, too. And I was like, oh, my God, a celebrity is talking about me.
Chloe Lee
Shut up. Because, like, when you shouted me out, I'm like, oh, my God, Caitlin, I
Caitlin
love this women environment. That's really cool. I really love to hear that. Tell us who you are, where you. Where you started. We're going to get into what you've built now. But I always like to start off with, like, where did we start? Who is she? Behind the phone.
Chloe Lee
All right, so I am living in a very small town in Canada. London, Ontario.
Caitlin
Okay.
Chloe Lee
And I used to be a teacher for six years.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
Elementary school teacher. And then I became a mom. And I was just very content being a stay home mom. I. I have always wanted to be a mom, so it was like a dream job for me. And then my youngest turned three and she was ready for preschool, and I'm like, okay, wait a minute. Can I be a stay home mom without the kids? Like, is that a thing? And then I had this identity crisis. I'm like, what's my thing? Because I didn't want to go back to teaching because as a mom, like, I didn't. I couldn't see myself being at school with all these kids and then coming home to my kids. And I just kind of fell out of love for teaching. And so then I was like, what's my purpose in life? And then that was also around the time I was getting dressed up more. Like, I had more time on my hands, my kids were more independent. So, you know, I would put on a nice outfit, and then I realized I'm like, oh, my gosh. Like, I am happier. I feel more confident. And I was like, you know, even if I was just going to the grocery store, I had a nice outfit on. I'm like, wow, I walk differently, right?
Caitlin
And everyone.
Chloe Lee
I'd see, like, I'd see moms everywhere, and they would be in leggings and a sweater, sweatpants, and T shirt. I'm like, what the heck? Like, have we really just lost ourselves in motherhood? And so that's when I was like, oh, my gosh. I want to tell every mom out there that if you put on a nice outfit, get ready for the day, you're gonna be happier, you're gonna be more confident, and you're gonna be an even better moment. So I'm like, that is my purpose in life. And that's when Chloe's look started.
Caitlin
Oh, my God, I love that. I love when there's, like, writing on the wall, right? Like, you will feel so lost for anyone listening that's just not happy where they're at. Like, that's My story was very similar. Like, I just felt like I can't go back to this. So where does my passions lie? And you found it walking the grocery store. That's crazy. And did you. What year was this that you actually started all this?
Chloe Lee
So I started this two years ago. I'm approaching two year anniversary. That's end of March. March 30th.
Caitlin
Oh, my God. And the fact that you're almost at a million followers is insane to me too.
Chloe Lee
I. I don't know how this happened. Like, I'm still. I can't believe this is my reality.
Sponsor Announcer
Holy shiza.
Caitlin
What does your husband say?
Chloe Lee
He. He. So he's an. He's an introvert that you, like, have to show up online. Like, gives me so much anxiety and I don't know how you do what you do. Yes, but for me, it's so easy to show up online because I'm just being myself. You are. No, I'm not pretending. Like, it's just me. And I think that's why people love me on stories, because I'm so unfiltered. I'm so weird. I talk about tonsil stones and like random things and I have so much fun just like connecting with my followers, like chatting with them and, you know, feeling all the feels with them. And I just love my community so, so much.
Caitlin
Oh, I love that. And you are. You are a ray of sunshine. Like, when I do see your stuff pop up on my feed, she's got sass, she's got spark. And she's also like, telling me, like, how I can elevate my look. Like, even what you're wearing today, your button up. I have it in my cart. I just haven't pulled the trigger yet because I'm.
Sponsor Announcer
I'm freaking short.
Caitlin
And I swear everything looks terrible on me.
Chloe Lee
I know.
Caitlin
I just need to trust you.
Chloe Lee
And you need to try this denim button up.
Caitlin
Okay? Okay. You guys also tell them what your. Your. It's Chloe Dot looks. Right. For instance.
Chloe Lee
Looks.
Caitlin
Chloe's look. Okay, wait, Chloe looks. Okay, There we go. Because we need. I'm going to put it in the show notes too, but you guys have to follow her because she does such good stuff.
Chloe Lee
Okay.
Caitlin
You said that you knew you wanted to do something else and you're like, oh, my gosh, let me just get this message out there. So did you know that you would do it via Instagram or. Let's take me back to those early days where. How did you. You had the idea. But what made you say, let me pick Up Instagram and do this?
Chloe Lee
Yeah. I think because I was so consumed in Instagram, like, as a consumer, I was on Instagram a lot. Right. So I would see these fashion creators and be like, wow, like, she's doing this. She's getting this many views. She's this many followers. Like, that's so inspirational. And then I was like, wait a minute. Like, maybe I can relay this message on Instagram because there's so many people on Instagram. Um, I was terrified. I was so scared to start.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
I'm like, I'm putting myself out there for the entire world to see and judge.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
Haters, trolls. Like, am I ready for that? But I had so many ideas, I could not sleep, and I just knew that I had to do it. Like, I. I had this feeling that this was my calling. And so I started my account. And of course, it was, like, an adjustment. I had to learn. Right. Like, I listened to your podcast, you know, all the hooks and the CTAs, and I learned the ropes and then kind of, like, found my own content pillars and notice, like, what types of content would perform well. And so I realized that, like, the transformational videos did really well. So, like, my. One of my bread and butter format is like, is this how you look? Is this how you look going to a grocery store? Is this how you are going on a date night? And that's just the kind of person I am. I'm very blunt in your face.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
And so that kind of intro, like, irked a lot of people at the beginning. Like, who do you think you are? Yeah, they're like, and who are you?
Caitlin
Yeah. I didn't care.
Chloe Lee
I'm like, I'm Chloe. Okay, just listen to me.
Caitlin
I need you in person so bad, because we're like, you are me, and I am you. Step into a character when you're doing.
Chloe Lee
Yeah. Yes. So that's how I would start my video. And I would show, like, an outdated look, and then I would show you actionable, easy steps to get you to an elevated look. That's more in with the time, and people love that because people could see themselves in the outdated look, and then it was easy to get. They didn't realize how easy it is because a lot of people complicate fashion, and they're very intimidated, but it's not hard. So I was out here showing them easy steps to get to an elevated look.
Caitlin
Right. And you freaking kill it. You kill it. Let's see. Was there a post that, like, went off for you where your account really started to grow, or was it little things at a time? Talk us through. Oh, and answer this question. Did you start a brand new account or did you go off your personal one?
Chloe Lee
Oh, I started a brand new account. Of course, like, the first 200 people were like, the people from my own personal. Right. I'm like, I'm starting an account. Please follow.
Caitlin
Name, same Z.
Chloe Lee
And at the beginning, I remember, like, I'd go to, like, playgroups and be like, oh, I have a fashion account. Like, please follow. You know, I was, like, promoting myself.
Caitlin
Okay, I'm proud of you for doing that because a lot of people won't.
Chloe Lee
Oh, I was like, girl, like, you need me. Like, I knew the value that I had, you know, like, page was going to be valuable for you. And so it was a gradual start, and I think I got to, like, 10k in three months. And that's when I was like, is that. What do you think? Is that okay?
Caitlin
That's amazing. It's like, I've had Call Her Creator podcast for, like, two years now, and I'm. I'm like, almost at the 10k. So 10k is very hard to get to. Chloe. That's okay. Yeah.
Chloe Lee
Okay. So then I was like, okay, well, like, it's growing, so, like, maybe, like, this is going to be something. And I kept up with it. And I think, like, one of those, like, transformational formats, like, one of them did so well that I gained, like, 30,000 followers in a week.
Caitlin
Heck, yeah, girl.
Chloe Lee
Yeah.
Caitlin
Oh, my God.
Chloe Lee
Transformation was just so clear and obvious, but easy. People were like, no brainer.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
Yeah. And.
Caitlin
And that's.
Chloe Lee
That's my goal, though. Like, simplifying things for people.
Caitlin
That's the best thing you can do. Anyone out there listening. If you know something very well, simplify it, because there are people out there that aren't at your level yet. Even if you're not the very best, you know something more than someone else to start talking about it. Now, when you hit that first 10k, did you have brands knocking at your door yet, or did you try reaching out to anyone?
Chloe Lee
No, I. I never pitched to brands because, like, that wasn't my goal, starting this account. Like, my genuine goal was to, like, help moms.
Caitlin
Okay.
Chloe Lee
Simplify fashion, easy outfit formulas and help them feel freaking fabulous, you know?
Caitlin
So clips from this interview from Chloe. So good
Chloe Lee
monetization, all this stuff. It wasn't even, like, a thought.
Caitlin
Wow.
Chloe Lee
It all just kind of came to me and I'm like, what's happening? This can be a job Like, I can make money from this, right? And so my first brand deal, oh, my gosh. Came through my dm and they're like, what's my. What's. What's your rate? I'm like, I don't know. So then I go to Google. I'm like, okay, so I have like 15,000 followers. What's my rate? Well, I just, like, found a number in the middle of that range and just told her, and she's like, can you make two videos? I'm like, I undershot.
Caitlin
It's. It's euphoric. Your purse. I'm getting paid to do what I love to do. Because we're not taught that ever in life. We're taught to go get a job that makes you money or fits with your lifestyle. We're not taught, hey, you know what? What do you like to do? Because every time, like, growing up, I was always like, I'm going to be a nurse so I can make money. Oh, I want to be a doctor so I can make money. It was never like, hey, Caitlin, what do actually love to do? What brings you joy when you finally do get that first payment for actually putting something out there that brought you something in your heart? Oh, there's nothing like it. Oh, cool.
Chloe Lee
Like it. It still to this day boggles my mind that I get to do something that I genuinely enjoy and get paid. I'm like, I have a dream job.
Caitlin
You have the dreamiest job. And, and speaking of that, so most people who follow you are utilizing your account to help them level up their, you know, what they're wearing, their fashion, their fashion choices. But let's talk about behind that brand, there's a business, so you don't have to talk about, you know, numbers or anything, but how. What are, like, your different revenue streams from social media?
Chloe Lee
Okay, so I have affiliate links.
Caitlin
Okay.
Chloe Lee
So I make very passive income. So that's when I, like, link stuff. People buy from my link and I get a commission.
Caitlin
Okay?
Chloe Lee
That is probably the easiest way that I make money. And I make six figures just off that.
Caitlin
Shut your freaking mouth. That's amazing.
Chloe Lee
And let me say, I feel like the reason why people buy from my links is because I'm very selective about what I share.
Caitlin
Okay?
Chloe Lee
It has to pass my test, right? Like, people have built this trust with me. Like, they trust my. My decisions, like, my to share. And so I have this credibility now that, like, I only share the things that I absolutely love and have a lot of people will share, like, thousands of things. And I'm like, but do you have that right? You know, so because I have this trust with my following when I link. Oh, they buy. Oh, you know, so that's why that's super important for anybody starting out. Please stop, stop linking so many things all at once. A, it's overwhelming for your consumers and B start building your trust. Building trust that you have good quality items to share with your followers. Not just like whatever because you just want to get whatever commission.

Caitlin
Chaos. Right. What is your this Chloe's test.
Chloe Lee
It just comes down to like the fit, the composition, like it has to work with like, you know, I'm never going to be linking like a 600,000 $600 pair of jeans. Like, nobody, nobody has money for that. Right. Like, and when I started this account, I was very clear that I was going to be linking things that were affordable for the average person. You know, that was my pet peeve. But I would follow like fashion influencers and they'd have like 700 blouse. I'm like, pardon, no. And then I felt less than because I couldn't afford that. You know, like, yes, yes.
Caitlin
That's all that does. Like when I follow a certain celebrity and they link a 500 jacket or socks that, you know, socks, I'm like that you're turning me off. One, because I don't want to spend that type of money and two, you are making me feel less than that. You do spend that money on that stuff.
Chloe Lee
Right. So I try my best to mix like high and low pieces because like obviously, like for example, trench coat from Ceson. I've been wearing it ever since I started this account and will be wearing it forever.
Caitlin
Right.
Chloe Lee
And that's 500, but it's worth the investment. So I keep linking.
Caitlin
Yes.
Chloe Lee
But then there are other things, you know, like I always share like crew necks and T shirts from H and M because like it's 100% cotton and it's $20. So I always try to find that balance. And, and that's what I do in my guides as well, is like, I gotta find that happy medium because not everybody has the same budget when it comes to clothing.
Caitlin
Right. Okay. So that's your affiliate.
Chloe Lee
That's my affiliate. And then I have brand deals. So for my brand deals, I hired on a management company because as I was getting all these brand deals, I was feeling very overwhelmed.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
I didn't know my worth.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
And I felt very awkward negotiating for more.
Caitlin
Yes, yes, yes.
Chloe Lee
So my manager pitches and handles all that on her end so that I can just kind of focus on the content creation, like being true to who I am. And for anyone who's starting out or like want to monetize with brand deals, I cannot recommend having a management team behind you because the first deal that they brought on, it was triple what I was charging on my own.
Caitlin
Oh, stop.
Chloe Lee
And I was like, wait, what did you say to them?
Caitlin
Right? How did you find your person to work with? Did you like Google it? Was it were they referred.
Chloe Lee
So, but I guess when my account was blowing up, like I was getting hundreds of like agencies, like emailing, like, we want to represent you. And so I interviewed like 20.
Caitlin
Oh, good.
Chloe Lee
And a lot of them were from the states. And like, I just felt like there's. We're just like not on the same page. Like when you're American, I'm Canadian. Like, it just. Something was missing then.
Caitlin
Nothing.
Chloe Lee
Not that Americans are bad or anything. It's just like I needed someone that like I could talk to when I needed to help, like in person get the Canadian dollars. Because everything's very different, right? Like American, Canadian. So then I interviewed platform media and instantly it was like you and I like instant connection with the managers. I just love them. They were so genuine, transparent, and it's like the best decision I've ever made.
Caitlin
Oh, I love that for you.
Chloe Lee
Now they have me working with like my dream brands, like Lululemon Browns, you know, like Dynamite. Like, I. There's so many brands that I'm blanking, but it's.
Caitlin
Are they specialized in your specific niche or do they represent?
Chloe Lee
Okay, yeah, every niche you can think of. All the brands you can think of, they've. They have a connection with.
Caitlin
Okay. I like the idea of interviewing people because I will say my story. When I first started, I had a couple influencer marketing people reach out to me and like, I just was like, okay, yes to the first one. And they did terrible. They didn't bring me any new leads. I sent them all the ones that I was getting and then they were taking money from me. You know, it wasn't a good fit. But I want to work one thing for my goal this year is to do more brand deals because I just love creating videos because so I want to work with someone that can represent me because I feel like that will be easier to charge my worth and negotiate because it's very hard guys to one figure out what you're even worth. Like, do you ever use any calculators or anything like that? You know, they had some of The. You know, she's shaking her head now. I don't really chat. GBT has been very helpful, though, for marketing, just to ask, you know, what are the going rates? And kind of get that, but you have someone managing that.
Chloe Lee
Yeah. And then the last one, the last way I make money is from digital guides through Stan.
Caitlin
Perfect. Love that. What was your first guide that you ever made?
Chloe Lee
So my first guide was the fall capsule wardrobe guide. And this came about because while I was in this, you know, content creation journey, I saw people monetizing, and then I was like, okay, well, like, maybe this really could turn into something that I can make money off of. And then I saw other fashion creators doing capsule wardrobes, and I'm like, okay, I bought a few just to do my market research. Right. And I was very disappointed. It was a copy and paste of, like, T shirt, jeans, shoes, purse. And I'm like. And so then I thought, okay, there is a gap here in the market. A lot of people struggle with the styling piece. It's not hard to buy items. You know, you get a link from a creator, you can buy that very easily. But how do you work that into an outfit? How do you work it in many different ways to maximize your wardrobe? So then I was like, oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. I'm gonna change the game. And I was like, I'm gonna have 14 essential items, and then I'm going to use those 14 items to create 60 outfits, and I'm gonna show pictures of me in those 60 outfits in a PDF.
Caitlin
Wow.
Chloe Lee
I was like, I'm a freaking genius, right?
Caitlin
And that's what it comes down to, too. It's like you. You end up ordering something yourself, and you're like, this is crap. No offense, but, like, I've done that too, with, like, social media agencies. They'll be sharing, like, a Facebook ad set, and it's outdated.
Chloe Lee
Yes.
Caitlin
And I'm like, how are you selling this right now?
Chloe Lee
Yes. So I was like, okay, 14 items that I have my Chloe stamp on that I also own that I will be wearing this season. And you get 60 outfits casual, you know, date night, or even dressy outfits for work, all in one PDF. All you have to do is open the PDF and go, okay. Outfit number five. Love, you know, and what I love about stuff, Stan, is that I wasn't big when I first launched. Like, I think I had, like, I don't know, 50,000 followers. And what I love about Stan is that it doesn't matter how big or small your following Is as long as you have an engaged audience who thinks you're valuable, who thinks you're worth it, you will. It will convert. Right? And so my first, like, I birthed my first baby and I was like, oh my gosh. Like, people actually bought, like, this is insane. And let me just tell you, like, I am not techie at all. Like, I'm actually challenged, like with computer stuff. But Stan is so easy. And the way you walked me through how to set up Stan, how to sell the guide, how to market myself, it like all worked out and I'm like, oh my gosh, I did it.
Caitlin
That's amazing. And I. How many guides do you have now? Just that one.
Chloe Lee
No, so that was. So I have fall, winter, spring, summer, fall. And then I just launched my spring one, which has been the fastest selling
Caitlin
one ever running to get it after this. Do you email it out, by the way? Do you do email promotion?
Chloe Lee
What do you mean?
Caitlin
Like, like, do you have like a newsletter?
Chloe Lee
No, I don't.
Caitlin
Shut the front door, Chloe.
Chloe Lee
Are you doing newsletters?
Caitlin
A newsletter with this engaged audience that you have? You could be emailing them weekly and linking your stuff and making even more money.
Chloe Lee
Okay, okay, well, we'll have to learn from you. Okay, okay.
Caitlin
Like, I mean, I love Instagram, I love social media. That's how I make money. But when I'm launching something or like, you know, you just put this spring guide together, emails where it's at, because those are your people that already know you. They're already, you know, you already kind of nurture them. They signed up all these people that basically have bought all of your other guides. You have that email list and stand now. Right. Export that list and I would upload it into like Flodesk or something and just say like, hey, welcome to Chloe's looks. You know, this is a bi weekly newsletter where I'm gonna let you know what's happening. Maybe you're talking about what's trending, or maybe you're just promoting posts that you've shared on Instagram. Because the thing with Instagram, TikTok any social media platform, we're renting that audience. Right. Was what they say. We don't own them. Right. Once you got their email, you got them owned and you can email them. You can also export that list and run ads, which I don't think you need to because you're doing so well right now. But you could always export that email list, upload it into Meta as a custom audience, and run paid targeted ads to that list. Of people that you have.
Chloe Lee
Oh, yeah.
Caitlin
To upsell them. Or like, hey, you forgot something. And it's usually like, they're called retargeting ads. You'll have to look.
Chloe Lee
Okay, marketing queen.
Caitlin
Oh, we got so much to do with your email list. But for real, honestly though, I even. Not even if you want to sell, but maybe you just have stuff on your mind or you want to be like, hey, guys, this is trending right now. And then link your affiliate links. That'd be a really great way to, you know, it's going to add more to your plate, but it could also add more dollars to your plate, too.
Chloe Lee
Okay, Love that idea. And one thing that I just came to realize is the reason why this is the fastest selling guide is because I have been promoting it relentlessly. I've been talking about it every day. And for those of you listening who have a digital guide, don't be afraid to talk about it over and over and over again. And marketing isn't hard when you fricking love your product. When you're so proud of it and you're like, no, I'm telling you, you need this. Yeah, it's so good. It's actually worth way more than 39.99. But I'm giving it to you. And I made a promise to myself that I would not jack up the price because my following is going up. Right. Like with brand deals, your rates go up as your, you know, following goes up, whatever. But I genuinely have this digital product because I want to help people and I wanted the links in more of a systematic way than just sharing links sporadically on my stories.
Caitlin
Right, right.
Chloe Lee
So it's all really just for my people.
Caitlin
Yeah, no, for real. And I love that. Let's talk about too promotion. Do you promote on stories? You promote in posts like, tell us what that looks like.
Chloe Lee
Okay, so I have a really good tip that I've learned. So last spring when I launched in my text on real, I said, get my spring capsule wardrobe guide. And that posted terribly because it came off salesy Instagram. Probably saw that it was a sales post. Whatever. It didn't get. So now my strategy. I can't believe I'm spilling the T,
Caitlin
but I can't believe you are either.
Chloe Lee
Okay, now my strategy is I have interesting ways to show off my spring capsule wardrobe guide look. So the one that I posted about my spring capsule wardrobe guide was two outdated looks, and the text on reel said, it's not you, it's your spring outfits.
Caitlin
Ooh.
Chloe Lee
And it was tfurgy. Song. Oh, shit.
Caitlin
Oh.
Chloe Lee
And then the two outdated outfits I'm wearing and I'm like, oh, shit, oh shit. And then it goes Fergie, Ferg. And when it hits that like sassy part, I'm walking on my treadmill, strutting, showing my updated looks. I love a million in a week.
Caitlin
Shut your mouth. Yeah.
Chloe Lee
And like over 5000 link, like asking for this link to the spring wardrobe guide. Oh my God.
Caitlin
Okay, so let's break this down even further. So you're basically the real. The post you posted was calling out a pain point. Update your look. And it was kind of call outy like, oh, shit, update your look. It's kind of like that. Oh, she sees me. She's calling me out right now.
Chloe Lee
And I want to be that it girl for 20, 26. How do I get there? Ooh, 60 outfits in my guide.
Caitlin
And then what's your caption look like? Is it long? Is it short?
Chloe Lee
Is it so strategically I didn't write comment link for my guide where you can see blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I said comment link for 60 elevated outfits. That's it. Because I didn't want to give it away that you had to pay for it.
Caitlin
No, no.
Chloe Lee
But once you click on it, I know you're gonna get it.
Caitlin
Cause you got. Okay, okay, okay. Have you.
Chloe Lee
I think it's so good. Am I good?
Caitlin
I'm so good. I'm so proud of you. Because most of these people, like, they'll be very good at fashion, but when it comes to the marketing side, they. They're still learning. You seem to know what you're doing very well. What does your sales page look like? Like your landing page for that.
Chloe Lee
Oh, for my Sprint Capsule. It just basically has the premise like 14. 14 linked outfit. I mean, sorry. 14 items that are linked. Canadian American links. 60 styled outfits modeled by me. And then it has six of the outfits from the guide as like a preview.
Caitlin
Okay.
Chloe Lee
Always want to see like what is it? Like show me, like, give me a little clue. And so that. And then purchase.
Caitlin
Do you got a little bump up offer whenever they purchase. Do you ever do those? No.
Chloe Lee
What is it?
Caitlin
Okay, so in stan store when you. I'm pulling it up when you sell something. Okay, let me go into my store real quick because I want to make sure I tell you guys this the right way. Okay. Let me just act like, okay, so I'm in my store. Edit product option. Okay. Options. So when you're about to like go make it live, there's an options tab and then it's called order bump.
Chloe Lee
Okay.
Caitlin
And you can enable an order bump and basically you can link like any other product you might have. And so you could link, you could up charge like hey, add this for 10 more dollars and maybe it's like 75 more outfits or maybe it's a preview of this upcoming season or maybe it's just something totally different from the looks. But it's called an order bump and Stan and I'll use those. I'll push people to like my reels challenge and then I'll do an order bump that's like, hey, reels are really great. But do you want to update your engagement strategy too? Grab this for just 15 more dollars and then that will give you a little genius.
Chloe Lee
I could do my wardrobe staples guide. Yes, I'm doing that after this call
Caitlin
and you 100% should because all, I mean they can just simply scroll past it. But what's cool is at the so they go to purchase your style guide and then that pops up and it kind of flashes. Adam.
Chloe Lee
Oh, I know.
Caitlin
I'm so proud of Stan's. Literally guys, I do love Stan. Like before San, I was using Podia, which I'm not going to badmouth them because they did great and they helped me monetize the very first time ever. But San is just so much easier. It's the easiest one out there to use. So I love that.

Caitlin
okay, love this. For someone who's never built any income from Instagram before. Okay, what monetization stream do you think should be their first choice to just get their feet wet? What's the easiest way?
Chloe Lee
Probably affiliate links. I love shop my. Okay, super easy to use. And it's passive income, right? You leave it out there, people buy from you. And then I would say the second would be Stan.
Caitlin
Okay.
Chloe Lee
Like, give people so much value on your page. Like 90%, like value, value, value. And then 10% you ask. And it doesn't feel like salesy or like you're trying so hard because like you're giving people what they want and then you're asking like once in a while, you know, do you sell any
Caitlin
one on one calls?
Chloe Lee
Okay, I have.
Caitlin
Because you should. You're too personable not to.
Chloe Lee
So as part of. What was that challenge? Was that a challenge? Oh, it was the Gary Vee challenge.
Caitlin
Okay, okay.
Chloe Lee
Gary Vee challenge. And Gary's like, everyone should have a one on one call. And I'm like, gary. But like, I'm scared to charge, like, what's my rate? And he's like, you should charge like $500. I'm like, no.
Caitlin
What minimum?
Chloe Lee
I'm like, you're crazy. I don't believe you. And so I'm like, I'm going to do this one on one thing, but I'm going to charge $150. Because at the time I didn't know. Like, it's very new for me. I didn't want to come across like, like, too. What do you call it? Like, too desperate to make money. Like upcharge, right? Like, and my whole mission is really just to like, help women. And so then I did it for $150. It like booked up so fast, and I think I took on way too many clients. Like, I had seven people booked in a day for 30 minutes calls.
Caitlin
Oh, gosh.
Chloe Lee
And I. I absolutely loved connecting with my people, getting to know them, helping them. And my favorite part was seeing the aha moment in real life, in real time. I really, really, really, really loved it. But it took a lot of me. Yeah, yeah. So people still message me be like, are you bringing the one on ones back? And I'm like, I'm still recovering.
Caitlin
Yeah. So, okay. I feel where you're at. So right when I started, the easiest way for me to make money was booking one on one calls. So my first one on one call was like 2 97. And I did the same. A bunch of people booked out and I was like, burnt the frick out. Like, talking just takes so much energy from you, and you want to give
Chloe Lee
like that high energy to everyone you see, right?
Caitlin
Yes, yes. And our personalities are that type. Like, we want to be the best of the best that we can to them, and we want it to be worth their money too. But you get burnout so fast. Yes. So what? I mean, I think you should bring them back. But you charge like $1,500 for a style session. Girl, I'd pay that for you to tell me. This is your body. Hey, this is what you should be wearing. Hey, here's, you know, maybe have that strategy session with them. And then afterwards, you know, you can be like, I'll. I'll make you a personal stylist list of clothing with links to go buy. Like, you could add on a few things. Let's make it worth it.
Chloe Lee
Right?
Caitlin
But is it $1500 worth it more than 150?
Chloe Lee
Absolutely.
Caitlin
One call versus seven. Or however, I'm not good at math, guys. 150. Whatever.
Chloe Lee
Whatever. Right.
Caitlin
So it makes more sense. So yeah, you could totally bring that, but I'd charge them. Right.
Chloe Lee
And you have to start somewhere because I. I didn't believe that I was worth 500, 1500, you know, like. And after doing my first, I went in the call so nervous, I'm like, oh my gosh. Like, am I gonna be able to help them? Like, is it gonna be worth $150? I did my first call. I'm like, you'd be dumb not to sign up for a session with me. Are you kidding me?
Caitlin
Right?
Chloe Lee
That's how I felt too. Yeah. We accomplished so much in that half an hour, I'm like, holy moly.
Caitlin
That is so funny. I love it. I love it.
Chloe Lee
And what's even more funny is that I have like zero training in fashion. Like, it's not like I went to fashion school. Like, I am a biology major, I'm an elementary school teacher. Like, it's. I used to be a trainer for four years. Like, I have no training in fashion, but it just comes to me.
Caitlin
Wow.
Sponsor Announcer
And that. That is proof right there too.
Chloe Lee
Like, you don't need. Yeah. You don't need credentials.
Caitlin
You really don't. You could just get. Go spend a day learning everything you can and put it in emotion.
Chloe Lee
Yeah.
Caitlin
You know what I mean? I love this.
Chloe Lee
And then you get better at it as you go, right?
Caitlin
100%. Every single day that you do something, you are better and better. And then you look back and you're like, oh, my God, it's been five years and I'm still doing this and I'm freaking good at it.
Chloe Lee
Like, right? And one thing I like to do is people watch. Like, for me, I love people watching. And I'm like, okay, like, that outfit I can elevate if I just make one swap. And that's how I make my videos. I'm like, okay. One time I saw a lady at the grocery store. She was decked out in all brown, but all different shades of brown. And I'm like, okay. And I made. And then I made a video about how to pull a brown monochrome look in a more cohesive way than adding all these shades of brown.
Caitlin
I love this. You know, just you in your daily life. Yeah, that's wild to me. And I love it. Oh, I love it. You're just. We need a part two from this. I need to talk to you about motherhood though, too, while doing all of this, because at the day you said you always wanted to be a mom.
Chloe Lee
Yes.
Caitlin
And I feel that in my bones because that's one thing I always knew I wanted to be a mom. I love my children. They're my whole life. How do you balance being a really good mom but also being this badass money making machine on Instagram who does her thing? Like, do you walk us through what a typical day looks like balancing the two?
Chloe Lee
I think balancing work and being a mom is super easy right now because both my kids are at school. They're 4 and 6. So when they're at school, I do my thing. Like, I would treat it as my work hour. And I love that my work is so flexible. Like I can just, like, make my own schedule.
Caitlin
Yes.
Chloe Lee
And then when they're home, I'm offline. I try not to check my DMs, you know, and they're not allowed to watch their iPads. And they'll call me out sometimes and be like, well, why are you on your phone? I'm like, you're right. I'm gonna go lock it in the pantry.
Caitlin
Same.
Chloe Lee
Yeah.
Caitlin
I'm an adult. Hush. But I know I can't always say
Chloe Lee
that, but it was really hard at the beginning because Vivi was still at home with me, and I would create content during her naps.
Caitlin
Oh, love it.
Chloe Lee
And at the beginning, I was like, okay, I gotta look good. So I had, like. I'd take a shower, I'd put my fake lashes on, I'd do my hair, and then that would eat up 45 minutes. I'd go to film, and Vivi's awake. I'm like, the. How am I supposed to make this? And so that's what I realized. I'm like, listen, if you can't get lashes on every day, it's just not gonna work. Show up as your authentic self, like, how you normally look on an average day.
Caitlin
Yep.
Chloe Lee
And then I started to kind of like. Like, resent her for waking up earlier because she's, like, getting in my way of making content. Right. I felt like balance was really hard starting out, but because I was just starting out, kind of like, you know, exploring, it wasn't that much pressure because I was still pretty small. But I would say, like, content creation becomes way easier when your kids are at school. I don't know how moms with little children, they do it. Like, I don't know how they do it. Good for you.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
My kids are not in any of my videos. I keep them offline.
Caitlin
Yeah. I love that about you, by the way.
Chloe Lee
I don't need them to make me famous.
Caitlin
Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, seriously.
Chloe Lee
And I want to protect my little gems, so the balance really hasn't been very hard.
Caitlin
So do you do all your scrolling while they're at school, too? Like, you know, we're scrolling for inspo and stuff like that. Or do you catch yourself doing that when they're at home?
Chloe Lee
Probably after they go down? Like, Tim and I are just, like, on the couch, on our phone. Like, we should probably connect more than, you know, we all get into that cycle.
Caitlin
Yeah, no, that's.
Sponsor Announcer
That's.
Caitlin
That's hard to do. What would you give, like, for someone who is wanting to start out, but they have Kids. Maybe they have young kids. Like, is there any advice you'd give them as far as, like, helping them balance the two?
Chloe Lee
Stop putting so much pressure on yourself. Stop trying to be perfect. And I think now the content creation is shifting. Lots of, you know, untidy homes and no makeup. I love that. Like, it's just becoming more real and raw. But when I started, like, there was definitely this expectation that if you're a fashion content creator, you should be decked out this outfit and the makeup, and you should be in Paris with, like, the cobblestones and this. And I'm like, man, I don't fit into that mold. Like, I am not that. And I don't have cute backgrounds to take pictures in my small town.
Caitlin
And.
Chloe Lee
And then I was like, that's not what this is about. I'm not here to look pretty. I'm here to serve my people.
Caitlin
Yes.
Chloe Lee
And I think that's what makes people follow me because I'm just so, like, I'm just an average mom. Yes. You know, not this person living a lavish life.
Caitlin
Yeah. No, I love that. And I think you're right. We are shifting to a more natural online presence. You don't have to look perfect and polished and all that. People want to see what they see at home. Yeah, I love that. And that's. I'm good for us. I'm excited about that because I used to have that pressure too. It's like, if I didn't have makeup on, I felt like I couldn't make a video. And it's like, now I'm just like, oh, no makeup. Sometimes those perform even better when I don't have makeup. Right. So. Okay, I want to end this with a couple pieces of styling advice and then some rapid fire. Okay.
Chloe Lee
Okay.
Caitlin
So what trends are you loving right now that are actually, like, wearable for everyday women?
Chloe Lee
I don't really follow trends.
Caitlin
Okay.
Chloe Lee
Yeah, I. I don't follow trends. And in my guides, you won't really see any trendy pieces because I am a fir believer that it's important to focus on having a cohesive, functionable, functioning wardrobe rather than focusing on, you know, micro trends that will come and go. So focus on, you know, wide leg pants, wide leg jeans that look good on your body. You know, like, have a button up shirt. Like, this will be a forever wardrobe staple for me, you know, so investing in those quality pieces, having them as a foundation, and then you can add like pops of color, pops of pattern. That's when you kind of like dabble into your personal Style.
Caitlin
Okay.
Chloe Lee
So, yeah, like, I don't really care about trends.
Caitlin
I don't.
Chloe Lee
I can't even. Like, I don't even know the trends. Like, I don't really care about trends.
Caitlin
But, yeah, I love that. What is one outfit formula that always works?
Chloe Lee
Oh, my gosh. What I'm wearing. Like,
Caitlin
yeah, you look elevated.
Chloe Lee
Like, these are actually the pants that I linked in my spring capsule wardrobe guide. How cute. Adorable.
Caitlin
They look comfy, too.
Chloe Lee
Linen pants with a button up. This will never fail. And it works also really well. Like, if you're in front of the computer, like, having meetings, you look super polished but super comfortable.
Caitlin
Yeah. Yeah. And if you guys are wanting to know what she looks like, this will be on YouTube. So don't worry your little eyes because she looks adorable. Okay. Rapid fire. Okay. Okay. So, like, don't overthink these. Okay.
Chloe Lee
Okay. So just try to say it as fast as I can.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
Okay.
Caitlin
Okay. One piece of clothing. You always reach for button ups. Okay. Yeah, she's the button up, girly. One fashion trend you refuse to wear jelly flats. Okay. Oh, my God. Some girl just said, those are, like, the shoes of the season, by the way. And I was like, I don't.
Chloe Lee
Thank you.
Caitlin
They look uncomfortable to me. Like, yeah, totally. Like when I was a toddler. Your favorite affordable brand.
Chloe Lee
Oh, my gosh. I just discovered Quince because they ship to Canada. Such quality, good quality products for such affordable price. Like, I'm obsessed with Quince.
Caitlin
Okay, good to know. Coffee or matcha?
Chloe Lee
I'm a coffee girl. Oh, my gosh.
Caitlin
Me and true. Sneakers or heels?
Chloe Lee
Sneakers any day.
Caitlin
Same samesies. One creator you love following you. Stop it. I love you. Okay. Besides me.
Chloe Lee
Oh, my gosh. I don't know. Oh, I love following Jordan Grace. She is an amazing choreographer. She's really inspired me to get back into dancing. And not just like the little dances that you see me do on my feed, but, like, actually, like, hip hop. And so my recent messaging to my followers has been like, I know you're a mom. You have a lot on your plate, but prioritize what brings you joy.
Caitlin
I'm so sorry that I didn't mention your dancing, by the way. And I didn't know that you were into dancing because that's one thing makes you very magnetic and why I watch your videos is you do do the dance, and you're really good at it. So it's because you know what you're doing. Then you're not just freestyling out there. So.
Chloe Lee
So I grew up dancing Just learning how to dance, watching Korean K pop music videos. I never really put into dance lessons. And I, I really want to ask my mom why? Because I've always enjoyed dancing. And then it wasn't until I went to university that I was scouted for a performance crew. And I was like, I don't know, I've never taken lessons. And he's like, just try it out. I'm like, okay. And then I made the team. I started learning more dance and I started teaching and performing and it was a really big part of my identity. And then I became a mom. Then I'm like, okay, now what? Like, it died.
Caitlin
Yeah, right?
Chloe Lee
And there are a lot of dance classes for kids, you know, teenagers, but nothing for moms other than Zumba. And so that part.
Caitlin
I'm sorry, I'm crying because you said it so straight faced too. I mean, nothing wrong with Zumba, but
Chloe Lee
like, I just craved hip hop.
Caitlin
I'm crying. Do you do hip hop now? Like you go to dance classes?
Chloe Lee
One of the things that made me explode was when I started dancing with like different. So it's like four ways to wear a button up. And I would do like a dance video to millennial music because that I didn't care about trending audio. I was like, I'm just gonna be jammy to whatever I like, okay? And so I was like, dancing I lucky when you do that, people lost it. They're like, wait, I love this. And now looking back, I'm like, holy moly. That was targeting my niche audience. Woman in your 30s and 40s. And that's the type of music that they like, right? And so that's. So that was that. And now I'm really tapping into like dance classes. And I'm taking online dance classes by Jordan and she has what, lots of choreo. And I just set aside like two hours and I learned the dance and then I make content with it. So now it's like part of my content and people are really loving it. And I'm like, thank you for letting me do what I like. Fashion and dance.
Caitlin
Like, like amazing. You're making money doing what you are super passionate about. I love that. And I might need to, I might need the link to that because I like dancing too.
Chloe Lee
It's so good, honestly. And, and even if you're a beginner, just stick with it. Like, and that's the thing. It's like we sign up our kids for everything and we don't sign ourselves up for anything. Like, it's like we deserve to have hobbies and do things that bring us joy.
Caitlin
Wow. I'm so inspired after this conversation, and I know everyone else has to be so, like, this is so good. How can people connect with you? What do you got that's coming up this year that you're excited about? Tell us all the things.
Chloe Lee
Well, you can find me on Instagram. Chloe's looks and my spring capsule wardrobe guide is out. It is doing amazing. So many people have already given me such good feedback, and they've all gotten all the pieces. I just can't wait to see them recreate. That's my favorite part of making these guides, seeing outfits on my followers, who I call them clones because they're, like, cloning my outfits, but it's with an H because, Chloe, I love it.
Caitlin
You're the freaking best. That is awesome.
Chloe Lee
Yeah. So grab it. It's 39.99. It'll be the best $40 you ever invest in yourself.
Caitlin
Yeah.
Chloe Lee
Awesome.
Caitlin
I love this. Chloe, thank you so much for your time. I'm so excited for you, and I'm so proud of you for everything you've done. This is awesome. You guys go check her out. Tell me what you think about her dance moves, because they're really good too. This was awesome.
Chloe Lee
This was so fun.
Caitlin
Yay. Thank you.
