Welcome back to the weekly scroll on Call Her Creator podcast. This is where I break down what's actually happening on Instagram, meta and across social media. So you're not guessing what to post or how to grow because things are changing so fast right now, it's insane the amount of updates I've seen this week, but I only picked out the very best for us to go through. What worked even a few months ago is not working the same way today. And if you're not paying attention to these shifts, you're going to feel like you're doing everything right and still not getting results. So before we dive in, if you're someone who wants help actually implementing what we talk about today, I have my membership club influence. This is where I give you weekly trending reels, ideas, canva templates, and a monthly content drop. So you're not just sitting there wondering what to post. You already have it all mapped out for you and I'm going to put that in the show notes for you. All right, let's get into what's trending this week. All right, so let's talk about Instagram, because they just made an update to Their insights, which is where you can look at your analytics. And this actually matters a little more than you think because Instagram basically redesigned their analytics dashboard and they're making it a little easier to see what, what's working and what's not without you having to dig for it. So I actually really love this update. So now when you go into your insights, you're going to see new tabs that break things down a lot more clearly. Things like your engagement, your audience, and how your content is performing. But the bigger part here is that they've added some new metrics. So you're going to now start seeing your share rate, your skip rate, and how your views perform over time, which is actually really huge for us. So, so let me explain why this matters. Before, you were probably kind of guessing you'd look at views, maybe you'll look at your likes, maybe you see what kind of saves you got, but you didn't really know why something worked. Instagram is basically telling you why. Now, why are people sharing this? Why are people skipping this? And is this content lasting or is it dying pretty quickly? And that's the difference between posting content and building a strategy that actually works. And I'll say something here real quick. I'm going to plug in Club Influence and Influence Marketing Studio, because Influence Marketing Studio is my social media agency. I just, I hear it so many times, like, social media is so easy. Like AI is going to take over your jobs. Here's the thing, AI can give me the data and summarize it, but you actually need someone to go in there and be like, okay, this content, how long did it last? Why did it die? Okay, let's pivot our strategy to do X, Y, Z. This is why social media managers, our job's never going to be taken because only someone that works in this field and does this work on a day to day basis is going to understand how all of this works. So if you're not a social media client of ours, maybe you're in Club Influence. If you're back there and you've got these insights and you don't know what they mean, send us a screenshot. You're in the club, drop it in our chat, let's talk about it, let's go through it. Because sometimes this stuff is very hard to understand, but we like to dumb it down. So this is a clear signal from Instagram. They want you to create better content. They don't want just more content, they want better content. And I've been thinking about this too for Myself, there was a part where I was. There was like a time, like within the last month where I was posting three times a day because people were saying, the more you post, the more you'll grow. But took a step back because I'm like, actually, I would rather post better content than more content. And I think that every platform is going to start prioritizing original creators. We don't want repost pages, we don't want recycled content. We want good, quality content. And Instagram is telling us that they want you creating things that people will actually watch and share. So that's why they're giving you better analytics. So, three actionable tips for you guys with this new update. One, stop looking at how many views you got as your only metric. Views don't tell us the full story anymore. We want to know how many people shared it, how many people saved it. What was your skip rate like? Because if people are skipping your content within, like the first two to three seconds, that's a problem with your hook. And that's where the social media managers come in. Because, like, yes, you can see, oh, they skipped it within the first two to three seconds. But what does that mean? Oh, it means you have a hook problem. And we'll be able to tell you that. And then we'll be able to strategize on, oh, twist. Tweak this, twist that word. Change it to this. Use a negative hook. Number two, use the views over time to find your winners. This is a big one. If a reel keeps getting views days later, that's a signal. That means it has longevity. That's the content you should be reposting, repurposing, and doubling down on. Not the one that popped off just for a day and then it died. And then, number three, optimize for shares, not just likes. Instagram is telling you straight up, shared content is winning. So instead of asking, hmm, will people like this? Ask yourself, would someone send this to a friend or a colleague or a spouse? Because that shift alone right there will change your content and how it performs. So overall, very good update. It's not just about prettier analytics. It's Instagram handing you the answers. The question is, are you actually gonna use them? Because the creators who win this year, the business owners who win this year, they're the ones who are paying attention to what's working and then they're doing more of that. So soft plug again, Influence Marketing Studio. If you need a social media manager to do this for you, sign you up, man. Let's sign you up, go to influencestudio.com and then you can apply to work with us there. I'll drop it in the show notes too. Okay, next update. This one might hurt your feelings a little bit. If you've been reposting your reels to your stories, thinking that it's gonna boost your followers, it's not. Adam Mossery, the head of Instag, literally just came out and said, this is a myth. Reposting your post to stories does not meaningfully increase your chances of growing your reach. Why? Because feed content, like your reels and your posts, is what gets pushed to new people. That's what shows up on the Explore page. That's what gets recommended stories do not. Stories are only shown to people that are already following you. So when you repost something to your stories, you're not expanding the reach there. You're just resharing it to the same audience. Now, what I will say is, with the algorithm and how it's changed, we are our content's getting shared to, like, new eyes in the feed, right? So sometimes people that already follow you are going to miss a post. So that's where like, if I post something really good and I don't feel like it got a fair shot, or maybe I post it earlier in the day and it's like 9pm and I want to share it again, or like, I want to just make sure that my people that are already following me saw it. I will share it to Stories to get a little more reach there because I feel like they might have missed it during the day. So you will see me do that every now and then, but you won't see me share every single post or reel to stories because it just, it's not really going to do much for you unless it's something super important that you think people who are already following you would enjoy reading about. Honestly, like Adam, saying this just proves something that I literally say all the time. There are no secret hacks to growing your Instagram. You really just need to work on creating content that connects, right? So use your stories for conversions. Don't use them to try to reach new people or grow your following. Use it to convert people. Use it to sell. Your stories aren't going to go viral. They're good for warming up your audience, building trust, driving action, but they're not so much going to help you grow your audience and then put your energy into the post itself. If reach comes from your feed, then what do you need to be focusing on? You need to be focusing on your Hook, you need to be focusing on the time that people spend on that post. You need to be focusing on that message, not what you do after you post it. But what are you actually posting? Is it good content? Okay, I have a question for you. Are you the friend who plans everything when it comes to trips? Like you're comparing hotels, finding the best spots, building the itinerary, and everyone else just shows up. If that's you, you've probably already thought like a travel advisor. You just haven't been paid for it yet. And that's exactly what Fora is built for. Fora is a modern travel agency for people who love planning travel and want to turn that into real income. They give you everything you need. The training, the booking tools, and a full community of advisors. So you're not figuring it out alone. And what I love is how simple it actually is. As a Fora advisor, you get access to over 7,000 travel partners, everything from luxury hotels to boutique stays. And you can offer your clients perks like upgr grades, resort credits, and late checkout, things most people don't even know how to access. And every time you book a trip, you earn commission. So if you're already the one planning the trips anyways, this is one of those, why am I not doing this moment? Now's the time to turn your love for travel into something that actually pays you back. Become a Fora advisor today@foratravel.com CHC that's F O R A travel.com CHC and make sure you tell them that we sent you. Let me ask you something. Have you ever had an idea for a business but you immediately thought, what if nobody buys? Or what if I don't know what I'm doing because I've been there? When I started my business, I didn't have a full team. I didn't have the perfect systems in place. I just had an idea and the willingness to figure it out as I went. And honestly, having a platform like Shopify would have made that process so much easier. Shopify is the commerce platform behind millions of businesses around the world and literally powers 10% of all E commerce in the US so whether you're just getting started or scaling, it grows with you. You can build a beautiful store with their ready to use templates, use built in AI tools to write product descriptions and content, and even run email and social campaigns all in one place. And one of my favorite parts, that shop pay button, it makes checkout so seamless, which means fewer abandoned carts and more actual sales. So if you've been sitting on an idea or you're ready to take your business seriously, it's time to turn those what ifs into with Shopify. So I had teased the subscription package a couple weeks ago, but Instagram has confirmed to TechCrunch that it is indeed testing a new subscription offering for Instagram creators and it's called Instagram Plus. The new program will provide a range of Instagram specific add on features. So when I saw the pop up on I saw it on social media today, they had a screenshot of what it looks like. And so the pop up says try Instagram+free for one month, advanced controls, exclusive features. And then underneath it I can see where it says like $65 a month. But they're letting you try it for free. $65 a month is pretty expensive to me. $65 a month. Here's the things that it that it's offering though. 1. Create multiple story audiences. That's kind of cool. So you, you could segment who is seeing your stories so you get a little bit more control than just a close friend segment. Think about if you segmented like your current client list, hot leads, cold leads, people that are only interested in xyz. I kind of like that getting multiple story audiences get story rewatch insights. I mean that's cool. I guess that would help me to understand if someone was really interested in me or my content. I can see how many times they've rewatched it. Search your story viewer list. I'm not really worried about that. If I want to I can just scroll through my story views. I don't need to search it I guess, I guess that'd be good if you had a lot of viewers looking at your stories and you didn't have the time to scroll through them. But I don't think that's pretty, pretty good benefit for me. Preview stories, extend your stories expiration, send super hearts to stories and spotlight your story. So what stories? That's it guys. That's all for Instagram Plus. I don't think that's worth it. I don't think that's worth $65 a month. What they're saying though is if a lot of people sign up for the program. Looking at Meta's quarterly performance updates, it seems that around 35 million or so Facebook and Instagram users have signed up for its Meta Verified subscription and that's generated an extra 2 billion for them, which is insane. So I don't know why. I don't know why. I mean, of course at the end of the day, we have to remember Meta's a business. They're trying to make money here. But I don't, I don't see why anyone would pay $65. Now it says PHP$65, so that might not be US dollars. Let me do a quick. What is PHP? Oh, and currency. Okay. Oh, okay. That's in Philippine pesos. So if we do $65 php to USD currency. Hmm. Okay. Google's telling me $1 and I know that can't be correct, so I'll get back to you on the price. But I still don't think I'd pay for any of these benefits that they're talking about. I just don't think that it's that important. Last update I want to tell you guys about. Instagram has a spin off app and it's called Instant and it's very similar to Snapchat. So Instagram's trying out another way to engage younger audiences. Doing a Snapchat like separate app. It's called Instant. It emphasizes raw, unedited content, sharing of temporary photos. And I'm looking at the screenshot. Looks like exactly like Snapchat guys. Looks exactly. The catchphrase for the app is real life, real quick. With the idea being that Instance will enable simple image editing in a privacy friendly way. Instance is essentially a renamed version of Shots, which was a feature Meta tried out in Instagram later last year. I never saw that. I don't know if y' all did, but Shots was also a no edit, no filter image sharing option that allowed IG users to quickly send a picture to a friend. That friend was then only able to view the image once and then it disappeared. So conceptually it feels like a mix of Be Real and Snapchat. I think it's cool. I think that if they want to attract a younger crowd, that's a great way to do it, is Be. I mean, because Snapchat. I was actually at the dinner table last night talking to a family member. She's in middle school. And I guess Snapchat is like the thing now for that age range. But a lot of parents don't allow Snapchat. Cause I personally, I will never let my kids have a Snapchat. They go and get it if they're 18 maybe. But Snapchat's sneaky in my. In my opinion. So I don't know. I don't know how instances. Instance is different from Snapchat. So we'll have to find out as more information comes out. But I know Snapchat is just a little. I don't know as far as like. Like anyone can add you. I don't know how instance is. We'll have to see. But if it's anything like Snapchat, my answer is a. It's a no dog for me, but that's for my children. For us adults, I don't know if we're gonna like it because all the adults I know use filter. So maybe this is for, you know, like they said, the teens. We'll see how it works out. I don't know. I'd like to know, what do you think of this new app and will you be downloading it? My answer is probably not. I do not need another app to download. All right, if you've been listening to these updates and thinking, all right, Kaitlyn, you give me all these updates, but what do I actually need to post? That's why I have Club Influence. That's where I give you weekly trending reels, ideas, canva templates, and a full monthly drop. So you're not just learning what's working, you're actually executing on it. And we are currently accepting new members. So if you want to get inside of Club Influence, I will drop the link inside of the show notes. I hope you like the updates this week and we will talk again next week. Thank you.
