Okay. It's season 12, episode 24, Family Affair. It's the season finale. Why did it. What? What? What got your juices flowing?

Oh, these finales. The finales just get me. And then what I realized about. Well, I don't want to. Spoiler alert. There was a certain moment where I audibly went, no.

Audibly. And I was standing while I was watching, and I was like, no. And this is an episode that I'm not in a ton of. Not a lot of Capshaw FaceTime.

So I really did get to enjoy watching it.

So I don't. I mean, we'll see how this goes. I'm not sure how much I'm going to bring to this, given that I don't have a lot of, you know, kind of personal anecdotes. But, you know, I just got all excited, and so now I'm standing and I have a really early call time tomorrow. So I'm going to just keep myself. Just keep it moving.

Just keep it going. Here's what I was feeling. I was feeling like the episode started and I knew that we were watching Family Affair. I truly had no idea what this episode was about. I was like, I don't remember the season finale. I don't know. I'm not going to look it up. I'm just going to watch it like a fan. And when it started, I was, like, really confused, honestly. And I'm not in the episode a ton either, but, like, there were moments that I forgot were going to happen. And then something triggered my memory, and I was like, no, no, it's not that episode, is it? Okay, so let's get into it. Okay.

By the way, so let's also talk about how we texted, because you started watching it before me, and you texted me and you were like, honestly, I don't remember it. And what did I say?

And you said, My AirPods come to the club. Oh, yeah, you Said, welcome to my club. Don't work. Oh, yeah.

Well, that was on the plane. And my AirPods didn't work.

But then you were having AirPod issues. But then you said. Yeah, you said, welcome to the club. But then I looked up the date because I was like, I really can't remember much of this at all. May 19, 2016 is when this airs. This is nine years ago.

Where does it start? Let's talk about. The episode is centered around. It's centered around the wedding of Owen Hunt and Amelia Shepherd. This is the synopsis where tensions run.

I had not read the synopsis when I started. We open up in the park with Meredith and Alex, and they're both on the grass and they're talking about rain and joking about being a bad omen for the wedding. I didn't even know what wedding they were talking about. And then. And then I slowly realized that, like, I forgot that Meredith didn't really like Emelia, too. Did you remember that?

[Camille Ludington]

Yeah. Meredith doesn't like a ton of people.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Oh, my God. Wait. I don't know if I've ever heard anybody say that, but it's kind of. It's kind of true.

[Camille Ludington]

Yeah. No, no.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Okay.

[Camille Ludington]

Yeah.

So they're talking. They're kind of talking.

Does she like you? I mean, did she like. Does. Does she like you?

It was fine with Arizona. It was fine.

No, no. I mean, I. She grew to like me because I was Alex's girl, but, like, no. She kicked me out of bed. She made me run. Caught. I mean, like, no, she was not a Joe fan. This is true. She's like. She's picky.

So they're laying on the grass.

They're laying the grass about the things, and they're talking about if People have one true love.

Yeah.

And if you have one true love and that person, I don't know, died. Like Derek is what they're referring to. Or Izzy, who left is. Have you maxed out on the love?

Do you get another? And then Alex was kind of, like, talking a little joke about Joe and not. And I was like, what? You. I was like. Excuse you say what? What? Apparently, there's some trouble in the Jolex. In the Jolex house?

Never. Yeah, well, because he wants a warm yes. And you're giving him a. Because you're hiding something. Because you got a little secret.

Okay.

Secret. You know, this is drama. This side drama. So then it goes over to the house, and Amelia's on the phone, and. Oh, acted the. Out of that. She's just. Oh, my gosh. When she says, mommy, just, I need.

You to be here.

And she has a whole, like, you know, all the best people in this family are dead.

[Jessica Capshaw]

And it's so.

Because she's basically upset with her mom because no one's coming to the wedding.

Which I didn't know. There was no backstory for me on that one.

There was. I didn't remember. If there is. I didn't remember it because I'm like, don't you have 500 sisters? You've a ton of sisters.

Yeah, but, I mean, why weren't they coming?

[Jessica Capshaw]

Why weren't they coming? Maybe they didn't like Owen. Maybe they didn't approve.

Give. Well, we can't remember this.

Yes. That was. That was a really good scene. And you see that April is in charge of the rings.

Well, April's the best man because she's Owen's.

April's the best man, which was Owen, because they work in trauma together. That's what I decided. Okay.

I remember. Sidebar. I remember being slightly jealous of these, like, very strong imaginary circumstances where people were bound together. Like, I remember when Owen and April were bound, building their actual trauma surgery bond. Not trauma bond. Yeah, trauma surgery bond. And being like, oh, but you had Alex. I feel like Arizona. I know. I know. I've had. I'm just saying, when there are other ones, you're kind of like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because the.

The dyads work in this show. Like, when there's pairs of people that really connect about something, it really works in the show.

Yeah. Yeah.

So. So. So speaking of. It's like, either in couples or in friendships, so. So we kick it over to, you know, another sort of rocky road that we're that we're walking, which is Ben and Bailey.

Yeah. Why? Bailey doesn't really trust him.

He did something. Camilla. He did something.

It's really funny because I feel like we're. Oh, no. I was just about to give a spoiler.

Yeah, don't do it. Can't give a hand. Well, you can. They're all. They're all available on Netflix, I think.

No, no. I just wanted to give a spoiler for this season. What I can say is, actually plays into last season, Ben Warren has a history, and still does. Of being impulsive. And I'm assuming I might be wrong. I'm assuming that he maybe did something really impulsive.

But she says, I don't trust you, which he points out is different. Like, I don't trust you is very different than any other thing.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yeah, that's true. To not be trusted as some sort of surgeon or intern by your wife, too.

Like your partner saying, I don't.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yeah.

[Camille Ludington]

Situation. Anyways, she says it was a grave error in judgment, and she kind of puts him in that, you know.

Yeah. And then they went back. And then we. We go back to the bathroom. What I do love about the bathroom is that Meredith said, do you know how many people have, like, cried and are in the bathroom and they're totally fine? And I realized it's so true. It was, like, a little wink to, like, all the seasons. And it's like the elevator. You know, you're gonna make out in the elevator at some point. And the. On cotton. I'm like, oh, yeah. The bathroom has, like, breakdown history.

Yeah, for sure.

Owen comes and kind of saves that. He's like, don't worry. And they have, like, a cute little kiss.

Oh, oh, oh. I did write a note on this because I did find Meredith. Line verified. She goes. When she talked about, like, stuff those feelings back in or something.

Let's go. Okay. So then we arrive at trauma, and a woman named Louise arrives, and we find out that she has dementia and she thinks that she stabbed someone that was maybe trying to attack her. And it's really. Intruder. It was really her son.

And Jackson's on the case.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Jackson's on the case with Dr. Isaac Cross. Joe Adler. And I totally forgot that Joe Adler was on the show. And the two. Three seasons he was on, man, he was funny. He had some good stuff.

[Camille Ludington]

Oh, he Was funny. He was very funny. Yeah, he was very funny.

[Jessica Capshaw]

So we're dealing with that sort of storyline. And then Louise thinks that Jesse Williams is her husband. And I'm. I feel like this probably happens to Jesse a lot out in the world. People just decide that that's. Yeah, Jesse's theirs for the keeping. And we'll have to ask him when it comes on. And so she's decided they're together and she embraces him. And there's even talk of like, are we having. There's some confusion in the conversation. She's like, are we having a baby? We're having a baby together. And Cross is very excited about this.

And he jumps on board. He, he, he, like, he leans. Would I help you with this situation?

Yes.

And then we go to Alex and Joe, which is you and the loft. What's happening at the loft?

[Jessica Capshaw]

Well, I literally put in my nose. You have like a lob.

[Camille Ludington]

You have a long bob.

I have a lob.

Yes. And I was actually like, oh, I saw some, like, the boobs were kind of out a little bit.

I was a little booby. I don't think I've been that booby since.

That was the first and last time that I was ever booby on the show for some reason. Oh, maybe this is why my first line is let's make a baby. And I wrote what I was like, what is going. What storyline is this? I could not remember. And then, then I started to remember kind of filming it. And this was. I mean, I'm just going to say it because we're going to get to it and we're breaking it down. This was the episode that I knew that I was going to reveal just to the audience that I've been married before. And I don't think I realized that until the table read. I knew that I'd like, you know, had a hard past and like, lived in my car and all those things, but I don't think I knew about the husband until that moment, until that episode. So that was. I think, I think. And this is nine years ago, so who knows? But yes, I. They were. He wanted a true wife. He wants wife, a house, a family, a wedding, like Owen and Amelia.

He wants a real.

What's a real life.

And you're. I took your whole, like, let's make a baby as like, I know. We know that later on you're. There's a very specific reason why you can't get married. You're Actually offering up something way more important.

Getting married. And so anyways, that's what I. That's what I took that to be.

But. But Alex left with a bag.

I mean, listen, I'd want more from Joe too. Hello. What a hottie. I do remember the scene in the loft. That rehearsal taking like 45 minutes to an hour it was. So we rehearsed it over and over again and I remember being like, just not looking forward to shooting it at all. But the. All the pieces of it. I think we shot it as one scene. I know it's like, no, you know, it's broke. You know, it is one scene. Or maybe it's broken up into two. I can't remember. But it was just this really long piece and then we had stunts in and everything. But yeah, I just remember that. Taking a really long time. Okay, this is not a drill. The wait is officially over. Like, And I. Yeah, that's what I. I was like, dude, I really. I think it'll it. She'd be fine if she never saw you again. That's how I'm feeling.

And the genius of the writing and delivery is that you then get deeper into the scene, come to find out they had sex four times in one night.

So, yeah, I was like, wow, Leaving it.

She's not leaving it. She's not leaving it. She's taking it. She's getting it. She's doing it.

Yeah, exactly. Right.

So anyways, then we go back to the church.

Owen and April are there. He's like, you're the best best man. She's like, I'm the best best man. And he's like. And because she remembers his socks. And he's like, yeah. And also grab those rings. And she's like, woo.

Woo. I know. And by the way, Sam Drew's is so funny. Her. Her comic timing is so good because as soon as her face, like, fell, I started giggling. But again, I. I was not clocking that. This is how April. I didn't realize that this is an episode that she was pregnant in until one shot. Like when she's running outside to bend to get that. I was like, oh, she has a belly. Yeah. And then I was not clocking that. This is. She has a belly. She's pregnant. This is where this is going. Yeah. So she jumps in the car and she is gonna get a ride to Meredith's house. And then basically Meredith's like, was. She's Kind of team Christina. You're realizing that this is. She's team Christina a little bit.

Well, here's what I think she is. The entire episode, she's kind of the person that's like, when you're. Well, when you're making big decisions, you want to be surrounded by people that are like, your decision is great. Go forth with this decision you've made. This is amazing. And her, like, Meredith is very much like, I don't know, is your decision good? Do you like your decision? So when she goes to Owen, she's like, have you told Christina? Don't you think maybe you should tell Christina? Like, I feel if you love this decision, then you should stand by this decision. So you should tell Christina. And then when she's with Amelia, she's like, what do you want me. What do you want to do? So I feel like it's always her being like, I mean, what do you want to do?

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yeah, it's not. I don't. I. I don't know what I would have needed in that moment, but I think I would have needed a more of a. This is. Right.

[Camille Ludington]

Yes. And I guess the question is why?

[Jessica Capshaw]

I mean, but the better storyline. But. But here's the thing. Meredith doesn't know if it's right. And so, yeah, her thing is it's like, whatever you want to do, I'm there.

Yeah.

And so this is where they. Oh, wait, hang on.

This is the reveal of Emelia's wedding hair. Oh. And I have thoughts about this. And I would say this to Katarina. This is not. This is. I feel like it's not very Emilio.

Yes. Because Amelia is kind of like this character that can be neurotic and messy. And I would just think that she has, like, I don't know, like this. It just looked very. Just formal. Formal on her. And I don't think of her as, like, this formal girl.

No, I don't either. We're going to have to ask her about her. That choice.

I'm gonna ask her about the choice. I want to know. Because then. Then I went through a little character deep dive, and I was like, wait a second. Maybe this is reflective of her not feeling herself and it not being the right thing. Because to me, it didn't look like Amelia almost. It was not like an Amelia vibe. But let's see. Because Katarina will be able to speak to this and she'll be able to tell us. Actually, that's exactly What Amelia wanted on that day, she wanted something totally different. She wanted formal.

Yeah. Yeah. Who knows? Okay, so now we're in the bridal room, and this is the big again. Gray's special. Serving it up hot. Meredith is like, what do you want me to be?

Yeah.

You need a person. Just like she used to be Christina's person, and Christina used to be her person. You need a person. What do you want me to be? You want me to have a getaway car? You want me to tell you. I love the writing so much. It's just so good.

It's so good. It's so good. And. And that's. And then the next shot is them running out in the rain and being.

Yeah. Little known fact, these Gray speeches, they're so well written that you would see them on a piece of paper and you'd be like, how do you memorize that? But when it's so well written, it's actually very easy to memorize.

Okay, so they all run away. The car's on the road, and Maggie is like, why are we doing this? And they kind of don't have an answer.

But it is funny because this is why Meredith says, well, he could get a little. He could get a little more sun or something like that. They're like, what's wrong with Owen? She's, like, blank. And he could.

I love that line.

I love it when they poke fun at us. I'm sure there's been a million. Arizona.

Ways she could be better. Okay, so now they're in the car. Then we go back to Meredith's kitchen, and April and Ben are looking for the rings. April's having kind of contractions. He kind of notices them, but it's no big deal. Then we go back to the OR with Jackson and Louise.

Can I just say this is where. When she starts, like, oh, the contraction. I. It flashed in my eyeballs. This is the episode. She's gonna get cut open. C section on the table. And I literally wanted to scream because I didn't wanna. It was. I remember reading it. Do you remember reading that?

Are we just going straight to the part that you and I both were.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Like, No, I know, but I'm saying this is the part that I thought of that. This is when I realized where it was going. Listen, if people are tuning in and you haven't watched this, then I don't know what to tell you it was nine. This didn't air last Tuesday. Do you know what I'm saying? All right, we're keeping it. We're keeping it moving. We're going. We're going all over the show.

Okay, so you go back to Jackson and Louise, and Jackson's pretending to be Louise's husband.

And, you know, confused and all that stuff. Now finally I show up.

And then, of course, I go to my Bailey and I'm like, oh, did.

We had the big custody, and I got full custody.

I know. It just seems a little extreme.

Anyway, so she basically is like, cali sat all the time. How can I help? And Bailey's like, maybe you need to kind of let her be sad. Like, this is sad. So she's sad. She's like, okay. So then we go to Joe's bar, and what does Joe decided to do?

I just wrote Drunk. Drunk Joe. That's what the. Because the viewers, they really enjoy Drunk Joe. And I remember Joe at Joe's bar. Drunk Joe at Joe's bar. I do remember Debbie Allen directing and her allowing me to be a little more comedic with it, like, have these moments with it. I actually. I love the drunk scenes, but I don't always like playing drunk. It's hard. It's hard because what you're trying to do is, like, play the play. Someone who's drunk, who's trying to act sober, because that's what you do. You're great. You were great. I want to do the. I Want to do an episode that you're drunk and that I'm thinking about right now? We can talk about this. But they do make for some funny moments. And, yes, she is. She is in a bad way. And. And then Stephanie's like, peace. Andrew arrives, and she's like, you can take care of her. She's a hot mess. Make sure she's fine. So he sits down, and it's the beginning of a. A nightmarish scenario that unravels.

So now we go back to the church. By the way, Owen's bride, he actually knows, is gone. How would you feel about that? Love the trust. And I love that he's like, let's give her the benefit of the doubt. But. Yeah, but him giving her the benefit of the doubt is what makes Alex. I think there was, like, the light bulb moment where Alex is like, yeah.

[Jessica Capshaw]

He's like, okay, yeah, I should do that. Kind of. Yeah.

[Camille Ludington]

When I saw that church and they're having sort of like, a conference, they did a kind of, like, wide shot of the church and the pews. And that's when I realized, once again, Joe's not invited to a wedding. Joe doesn't get invited to many weddings. And. And a lot of people do.

[Camille Ludington]

It's okay. Someone needs to save the people at the hospital.

[Jessica Capshaw]

It's true. It's true. We need doctors, but, I mean, Amelia is saying, no one's here. Hello. Get Joe. Get Joe to that wedding bar to get drunk.

[Camille Ludington]

So then we go back to the house, and the labor is escalating, and April's kind of like, people have babies at home. This is okay.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yes.

[Camille Ludington]

Which I thought was actually a weird leap. I thought that was a little weird. I thought she was like, I mean, come on. It's her first baby.

[Jessica Capshaw]

I made a note of this. Kepner's mom had a baby in a barn. Okay. She says that.

[Camille Ludington]

Yeah.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Don't forget that she's from, like, the farm life. Right. So she's like. I feel like if there's something.

[Camille Ludington]

What?

[Jessica Capshaw]

Something earthy about like, where she's like, you know what? It's. And she's trying to convince herself because she's saying there's no way I can get to the hospital. I don't know why they're not waiting outside the window. Yes. But they did. So they call an ambulance. They call an ambulance.

[Camille Ludington]

They call an ambulance. And. But then she kind of figures, you know what? I'm gonna have this baby here. And so I'm just gonna deliver this baby on Meredith's road. And, and he's down. He's like, okay, great, great. Yeah, they're very casual about it, to be honest. Then they go back to the OR and the Lou and honestly, it's very sweet, the whole like Jackson Louise thing because he's like really being there for her. I found it very touching.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Then we're back at Meredith's house, and this is where it gets to, like that season finale ramp up, right? Yep, yep. And I my favorite line of this whole episode is when Kepner, he's giving her a vaginal feeling, her cervix, right? And she's like, okay, Warren, let's wrap it up. I, like, laughed because he was taking so long. I laughed so hard. This is when we find out that she is in really rough shape. And the baby's breeches and he can't feel a pulse.

[Camille Ludington]

And he can feel the cord. He can feel the feet, the cord, and no pulse. Bad news. Trifecta of bad news.

[Jessica Capshaw]

And then she's like, when she goes, you know, the kitchen has better light or something like that. I was like, no. Even though I knew it was gonna happen.

[Camille Ludington]

I'm like, that wasn't my no moment then. That wasn't my no moment. No, no. That was like a. That was like an interior. No. That was like an inside voice. No. That was like a no inside my head. I'll tell you when I get to my, like, standing in my kitchen.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Okay. So then we go back to the gas station, and the sisters are buying slushies.

[Jessica Capshaw]

That was funny. I feel like they had, like, the mega slushies. And I was like, very down. I was like, all right, cool.

[Camille Ludington]

Yep.

Down for a slushie.

[Camille Ludington]

Then we go back to Joe and Andrew. Oh, my God.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Okay, so then, yes, I do remember filming this. I remember her saying, like, oh, my God. This isn't my bag. And then talking to Mr. Bones, the skeleton. I don't know if you guys know this, but the skeleton in the bar is called Mr. Bones. He's been around for a long time, and Joe is having a little bit of conversation with him. And she says, I am already married. A little bomb got dropped. And then she needs to get home, obviously. So they're gonna figure out a way to get home. Call a boober or something like that. Okay. So then Bailey gets looped in on the call from Ben. The baby's gonna happen. We see her, like, go down the hallway and then run the other way, basically. Then we're back at this church. This is. This is the scene where they said that they've earned a little bit of the benefit of the doubt, which is terrible timing, because Alex agrees, and he's like, let me go see Joe. And then. And then we're back in the car outside the church, and they decide. Maggie says, are we gonna go in? They finish the slushies, and. And maybe people get. And then there's a competition of, maybe people do get two loves. Maybe there are two.

[Camille Ludington]

Maybe you get one. Maybe at 11, maybe you get none. I mean.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yeah. And then I think, this is where they head in. Then this is the most. I really did not want to watch the scene. This is the field C section in the kitchen. Jessica Capsha. He's rubbing on. What is that? Hand sanitizer is what he looks like.

[Camille Ludington]

He's rubbing on her belly, looking for the medical kit. He finds, like, a, like, Mary Poppins medical bag in the closet. And he pulls out a scalpel, and it's, like, rusted. And you're like, we would. That medical bag is from, like, 1944. Yeah, it was rough.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Okay. And he makes that. I do. You know, like, there's some things that are just imprinted in my brain. The expression that Sarah Drew does as the scalpel goes or the knife goes across her belly.

[Camille Ludington]

Well, that was my no moment. So when he goes, well, first of all, I'm sorry. Hold on. They call the hospital because, Ben, they're like, jackson. Evidently, I'm the. All of a sudden, Arizona is the authority. So, yeah, they call to talk to Arizona, and Arizona is coaching them through it. Very coolly, by the way. I thought she was very, like. I was like. I actually wanted a little bit more from her. I was like, arizona, you weren't happy with your performance? No, I knew I needed. I needed me to dial it up a little bit.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yeah. Yeah, maybe you were tired that day.

[Camille Ludington]

Well, I was personally very pregnant.

[Jessica Capshaw]

No, I'm saying, yeah, you maybe were a little tired. Yeah, maybe justly capture was tired. And that's. Poor Arizona got the.

[Camille Ludington]

She got a little tired.

[Jessica Capshaw]

She was a little tired.

[Camille Ludington]

Yeah. Well, I needed. I needed someone to goose her and be like, hey, this is high stakes. They call and they put. Well, they're all on speaker. And then Bailey, Jackson, and Arizona are huddled around the phone, and you are. You're like. I mean, I felt it all. I was. So I guess that's probably why I was being critical of myself. I really wanted more for me in this moment. But anyways, they're. They're really, like, going, okay, what's happening? And you can see Jackson being like, that's my baby, and I'm not there. And the high stakes of it all. And then April starts going into the whole, like, no matter what, you save this baby. And Jackson's like, don't listen to her. Don't listen to her. Don't listen to her.

[Jessica Capshaw]

I loved the way that was shot. I thought it was a really smart, great. I mean, Debbie Allen's a fantastic director, you guys. She's incredible. But the idea of, like, panning the camera from her belly so you see the cut and then up into her face, and her reaction was just.

[Camille Ludington]

Yeah, but when he got out that knife, and it really did look like.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Like, what are you.

[Camille Ludington]

I was like, no, like, no, no, no.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Let's just wait for the ambulance just a little bit. And then we see. And then it does cut to a little ambulance bay handoff. And Bailey and Jackson unload April and rush her inside. And Ben stays, and he's holding a healthy baby girl. Little Jackson and April. Baby girl.

[Camille Ludington]

My critical mind flared up, and I was like, there we go. Yeah, wait for it. I'm like, why is Ben need, like, a warming foil? Why is he standing there in a warming foil?

[Jessica Capshaw]

Interesting.

[Camille Ludington]

What does he need warming for? Like, what? Yeah, but it was clearly intended to shield the baby for the reveal. Like, if you've been holding the baby, you would have seen that he was holding the baby.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yeah.

[Camille Ludington]

But meanwhile, to me, he looked like a marathoner at the end of a race.

[Jessica Capshaw]

Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, listen, surgical marathon, trauma marathon.

[Camille Ludington]

It was. It was. That's true. Okay, so then what happens? Because this part, I have to say, I was. I knew what was coming, and I was like, I'm uncomfortable, and I didn't want to. I couldn't remember how much you saw of it. And so I like, was. I actually did. I skipped ahead. So go ahead, but say what happened?

[Jessica Capshaw]

Did you. Okay, so this is what happens. Joe comes back and she sort of. She's laying out all the details because she's drunk and she's got loose lips, and she's telling Andrew that she had a husband, and she's sort of giving a few little details about her past and. And that he would find her if he knew where she was or if she tried to divorce him. He could track her down, which we know ends up happening. And then I will. Joe starts to undress, by the way. It is. It's just always a little weird watching herself get a little naked on tv. I'm like. I'm like, why don't you just keep that shirt on, Joe? Just keep that shirt buttoned. But no, it doesn't work for the storyline. And she collapses on the bed and Andrew kind of falls on top of her. And that's when Alex and I hate it so much. And I remember we padded the pole that Andrew ends up being up against because he got really thrown back against it in the scene. And so we. It was all padded. And then he just got beaten the crap out of. And honestly, there was blood. We. I think it's probably going to be in the next episode in the premiere, but there was so much blood everywhere. And then I always found it really odd that, like, Joe continued to live in the attic for a really long time, and There were Andrew DeLuca blood stains on the rug that she just never got out. Like, seasons later, there was DeLuca blood on the rug.

[Camille Ludington]

As soon as he came in, I just fast forwarded. I didn't want to see it.

[Jessica Capshaw]

It was, oh, God, it's so bad. And then Joe's screaming and it's just. Oh, God. And it just honestly leads into such a difficult season. Okay, then Nathan delivers the rings. This is where. Now we're at the church, thank God.

[Camille Ludington]

And then this is. This Ellen and this Riggs and Meredith. Seema is very sweet. Where they. They kind of compare notes on getting married. And it was a little emotional and it was a little twinkle, twinkle. Yep, little twinkle is coming on. And then, of course. Oh, well, I think that we should jump to because obviously, like, everything is great. And then we have this really beautiful scene that. Between Arizona and Cali.

Well, okay, so, well, let's just finish the wedding. So they walk. So Amelia walks, and that all gets done. And then we go to the hospital and. And the Two lives have been saved, and sort of Bailey's trust has been, you know, replenished in Ben.

And then. And I have to say, only because I wasn't around. I mean, Arizona isn't in the episode very much. It does sort of, like, jog over to this other storyline, which is from the episode before it, which is to Arizona and Cali and. And Arizona brings Sophia over to Kelly's house, and she sort of just. I want to say valiantly, I think she's. Arizona always tries to be on the right side of the road.

Yeah.

And she always tries to do. She always tries to, you know, do the right thing. And she kind of heroically shows up with this fix, and she hands off two plane tickets, which I think is so funny to me, by the way. Did you notice that? Like, two paper plane tickets.

Yeah, I saw that. Today's World.

[Camille Ludington]

I'm like, who would do that?

[Jessica Capshaw]

Yeah.

[Camille Ludington]

But anyways, back in the day, she showed up with two plane tickets, and she said is. I mean. I mean, basically she says, well, I got custody, but I want it to be 2050.

Basically, you want your proposal.

[Camille Ludington]

You take a summer. I take a summer. I get this Christmas. You get that Christmas. And she. And. And so. And. And Callie kind of can't believe it. And. And she has a chance to right the wrong. And she says, we did this wrong. We had a chance to do it right, and we missed it. And I think she says something like, I think that Sophia deserves to have two happy moms.

Yeah.

And then she says at the end, I'm just saying, let's all be happy. And I actually thought to myself, if that's. If that isn't just, like, super Arizona.

At Meredith, and he's giving his very, like, charming smile. So great. And there they are together. So he's looking in their direction, and all of a sudden. Yeah.

Maggie's like, you know what? I think he's looking directly at me, and he's in love, basically. Oh, yes. You know, I kind of want to watch the seas. I kind of want to break down the season opener after this because I'm a little. I'm a little Sucked into a bunch of these storylines. Like, I want to know where this goes. So what's so great about the show? There's so many. Just so many storylines for everybody and moments for everybody that are huge. It was actually really wild watching this episode.

I was into it. I was super into it. I audibly gasped. I said, oh, no. I felt all the things. And, yeah, I was into it. I was really into it.

I can tell. Because, guys, I don't think I've ever seen Capshaw stand through an entire podcast, and she has stood her ground, literally. Now she's doing a dance, and she's been in. She has been in.

I don't like when we do these rewatches because it pulls me in, and then I have to. Now I'm. Well, I'm gonna not.

So, in that scene where I go to the house and I give Callie the two tickets, it's my memory that we did that scene, and we wrapped for the season, and then Sara announced that they were leaving.

That is so crazy.

Yeah. So when I was watching it and we hug and. And there's this coming together of these two characters and the generosity and the. The love there, I. Yeah, I was like, oh, I love that.
