Call it what it Is with Jessica.
Camilla Luddington
Capshaw and Camille Ludington, an iHeartRadio podcast.
Jessica Capshaw
Hello, hello, hello, hello, Call It Crew. And welcome to another episode of Call It Short and sweet. Escaping reality.
Camilla Luddington
Escaping reality. That's what we're going to talk about.
Jessica Capshaw
That's where it came in from, the Call It Crew. And they wanted to talk about escaping reality. Whether it's something going on that's stressing you out or you have the winter blues. How do you escape? And you guys gave us some answers, and we have some. We have some answers and opinions on it.
Camilla Luddington
How do you. What's your. What's your escape? What's your number one? Go to.
Jessica Capshaw
Can I tell you what I'm doing right now? I just started writing a horror movie.
Camilla Luddington
Writing?
Jessica Capshaw
Yes.
Camilla Luddington
I just got the goosebumps. This. I love this for you.
Jessica Capshaw
Okay. Okay. So for a long time, I'm like. I'm like, talking myself up here a little bit. I've been told that I should be a writer.
Camilla Luddington
Let me help you. I would absolutely support that.
Jessica Capshaw
And because. But I don't. I don't have the technique down. And so I downloaded final draft and I'm sort of like teaching myself. And I've seen enough scripts that I'm like, I kind of know, you know, how to write a little dialogue. And I'm a huge horror movie fan. And so I just had this idea for a horror movie. I can't say it. You're going to watch it. It's going to be in theaters, hopefully 2026 Blum House. And I. So I just started writing. So in the evenings, I've been getting my computer out and amateur hour writing this horror movie, and I'm like, sucked into my own little horror world and creeping myself out.
Camilla Luddington
Love this so much, I can't even tell you.
Jessica Capshaw
Do you want to be in it with me?
Camilla Luddington
There aren't even enough words.
Jessica Capshaw
Okay, great. By the way, I want you to be in it. I.
Camilla Luddington
Help me, obviously. Yeah. Am I gonna die?
Jessica Capshaw
Do you like horror?
Camilla Luddington
Do I like horror? I loved it when I was younger, but then the Exorcist ruined it all.
Jessica Capshaw
Wait, why?
Camilla Luddington
It's too scary. Just simply too scary.
Jessica Capshaw
That was like. It just like, it nipped it in the bud for you. Like, I'm done.
Camilla Luddington
I legitimately stayed with a boyfriend for maybe six months longer than I should have because I just simply could not sleep alone.
Jessica Capshaw
And you laughed at me when we did Teresa Caputo. And I thought I could get possessed through the screen. And. And now. Now it's all coming out that you. Someone had to do a little sleepover after the. Exist.
Camilla Luddington
The makeup. I think it was the time.
Jessica Capshaw
By the way, this came out, like the 70s or something.
Camilla Luddington
I know I've been. I won't. But I mean, listen, I. I would like to think if I watched it again, it wouldn't be as scary, but I'm too scared to try. That's how scared I was about that movie.
Jessica Capshaw
You know what? I have seen the Exorcist in the past, probably, like, five years, and it holds up. It's a horror movie that really holds up.
Camilla Luddington
Terrifying.
Jessica Capshaw
Yes. But I love scary books. I love certain horror movies. Like, now that I have kids, I can't really watch certain stuff, but, like, the parent, like. Yeah. Anyway. So, yeah, that's what I'm doing.
Camilla Luddington
That's. I love that. I love that. It's also stretching a whole nother part of your brain.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah. I mean, I don't know if I'm very good at it, but I'm just doing it.
Camilla Luddington
I bet you are.
Jessica Capshaw
Well, because you know who inspired me a little bit? I'm gonna say this. Mel Robbins. Mel Robbins has this whole thing where she is like, no one's coming to rescue you. No one's coming to write that horoscope for you. No one's coming to make that business for you or do this or do that. And I'm like, what am I waiting for? Okay. It might not be, like, amazing at this, but let me just, like, do it. And if it's bad, it's bad.
Camilla Luddington
You're literally the definition of perfection right now.
Jessica Capshaw
You are so cute. I love you.
Camilla Luddington
No, you are. This is unbelievable.
Jessica Capshaw
I think this is the cool.
Camilla Luddington
I'm not joking. I think this is the coolest thing I've heard in, like, very long time.
Jessica Capshaw
You guys, this is, like. This is why Jessica is like my sister. Because.
Camilla Luddington
No, but this.
Jessica Capshaw
Well, someone else might be like, what are you doing?
Camilla Luddington
I want to read it.
Jessica Capshaw
No, you can't read it until I decide that it can be readable.
Camilla Luddington
Okay. All right, great.
Jessica Capshaw
But that's what I'm doing just to. That's what I'm doing to escape my reality.
Camilla Luddington
I love that.
Jessica Capshaw
What are you doing?
Camilla Luddington
What am I doing?
Jessica Capshaw
I.
Camilla Luddington
Oh, what am I doing to escape my reality? You know, this might be a lazy answer. I just have so many kids.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
And they really take up so many minutes of the day. And I think between work and kids, at this particular juncture of my life, there's not a lot of minutes that I have to spare for the escapist activity. But I think that on the daily, when I have the time to, like, let my mind wander, I. I love. I mean, I love. I love a podcast. I mean, how do we. How do we get to Mel Robbins? But I just, I love listening to different people's perspectives on the same thing because it also reminds me that, that there are so many and that you can sometimes be a little bit right and a little bit wrong. And, like, there's not so much pressure to, like, have there be one thing that's exactly right or exactly wrong. It's like, I think that especially mid winter, I. I prefer having a little more leeway and, and being. Taking a little easy on myself, you know, like being. Being my own best friend. Being my own, like, you know, best, you know, supporter. But at night, I do also love a show. And I slammed down that Black Doves White Lotus just came out. I feel like there's a lot of stuff that's out there right now to watch.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, I love a show, but I do. I. I also like. I don't know these shows. I'm going to be honest, because Grey's Anatomy doesn't do this. So I'm like, talking about how cool we are. I can, like, once a show is like, three years from coming out, I'm over it. The length of time between, I'm like, whatever. Who. I don't even know who this character is anymore.
Camilla Luddington
That happened with Tell Me Lies. I did the first season of Tell Me Lies, and they took a really long time to pick it up. I mean, it didn't stop it from the season two being, you know, hugely successful, but it was a really long time because I. The only reason I noticed it is because people kept asking me, yeah, I'm.
Jessica Capshaw
Waiting for Stranger things. It's been five years, 500 years. I don't even know when that's coming out. I think they're just shooting it right now. I digress.
Camilla Luddington
So let's. Yeah, let's talk about what everybody else said.
Jessica Capshaw
Chloe just wrote Jim. God, I wish Chloe.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah, it's a good place. If you've got the time. I know you could escape reality in there.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, you can. Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
Little people watching. By the way, when I used to go to the gym, I like the treadmill. I didn't even have to walk that fast. Kim wrote in and said, going on a walk with my dogs.
Jessica Capshaw
Oh, I do love the dog park. I love the dog park more than a walk with my dogs because they're all so Annoying to walk. Like, they have to sniff everything. Oh, my God. They all have a little hound in them. It's like, for God's sake.
Camilla Luddington
And also, have you noticed that without a leash right by my side, they're my shadow, never leaving me for one single second. You put a collar and a leash attached to it, and all of a sudden they want to go other places.
Jessica Capshaw
They want to go to New York City.
Camilla Luddington
They want to go to New York City.
Jessica Capshaw
I want to go to Saks.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah, yeah. They got to do. And it's not near me, too.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, yeah. And it's not the direction you want to go.
Camilla Luddington
No. It's so annoying.
Jessica Capshaw
It's so annoying. Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
And then I feel so bad because I'm, like, pulling on their necks, and then you get the choke collar, and then that's even worse. So I just. Now I'm just like, forget it.
Jessica Capshaw
But I do love a dog park because they're right by my side and they look so happy there. Foreign. Let's call it what it is. Owning a cute bra and panty set that fits just right and can be worn all day makes it easier for you to feel sexy and confident.

Jessica Capshaw
Amelie said, daydreaming is a lifesaver.
Camilla Luddington
I agree with that. I love a good daydream.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, I like a good daydream too. Sure, why not?
Camilla Luddington
Which also will benefit you in the direction of manifestation. I feel like that's also just like I always love. Like if I don't have a thing, then if I think about the thing, it's. It's good.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
It's a mental vision board. Nadine said, coloring do you remember when.
Jessica Capshaw
We were all like, you know, coloring was the thing to do on set.
Camilla Luddington
Sarah drew.
Jessica Capshaw
Yes.
Camilla Luddington
She was the one that did it the most.
Jessica Capshaw
She did. Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
Oh my gosh. They were so beautiful that I think that I hope she framed them afterwards.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah. I hope she kept them. Yeah. Yeah. That was a big thing. Everybody. We used to bring like the coloring books and the pens. I do. I actually think painting is like if I. I just don't have my supplies. But I do love to do a little painting outside, even if it's not very good.
Camilla Luddington
Yep. Valerie said sex to escape reality.
Jessica Capshaw
To escape oh, to escape reality. Sex. No. That's kind of interesting. Like, I feel like there's some sort of, like. To escape reality. Yeah. Like, I want to dig deeper, but I don't know how to dig.
Camilla Luddington
I know. We need to have. We need phone numbers attached to these. Tim said concerts always do the trick.
Jessica Capshaw
Concerts are a great escape of reality.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah. It's hard to think about your to do list when you're at a concert.
Jessica Capshaw
No, I mean, the last one I went to was obviously Taylor, and I bet so many people listening and. And was that an escape of reality? I felt like I was in, like, a mystical universe.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure. For sure.
Jessica Capshaw
I loved it.
Camilla Luddington
Me, too. I love that concert so much.
Jessica Capshaw
Okay, Gigi. I escape reality by reading. I focus solely on the words in the pages and forget everything else. I have yet to really get into a new good book this year. I haven't.
Camilla Luddington
Oh, my God, there's so many. I wish you lived closer to me because I have so many books that have been recommended by people who I very much trust. Not so much time.
Jessica Capshaw
You should have them all. To be honest, I do. I love a Barnes and Noble. I love a walking around a bookstore. That feels like an escape of reality to me, too.
Camilla Luddington
Yep. Yep. Oh, look what Grace said watching Gray's on My Peloton. I love that.
Jessica Capshaw
I think Grace is a bit escape for a lot of.
Camilla Luddington
To tell you that Eve started watching it again. She's on season three.
Jessica Capshaw
Really?
Camilla Luddington
Yeah. She picked it up and she put it back. She put it down. She wasn't ready for it, and then she picked it up again and now she's in.
Jessica Capshaw
Does she know some people die?
Camilla Luddington
I don't know. She doesn't really ask me about it.
Jessica Capshaw
Is it going to be like a huge spoiler when she was like, well.
Camilla Luddington
I haven't showed up yet, and I think when I show up, she's going to be a little bit more. Obviously, I'll be in her face about it. I don't know. I said to her, I said, isn't that weird?
Jessica Capshaw
Does she know anything about your storyline? Does she know, like. Yeah, she knows. You know, she's. You know, the leg, the plane crash.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah, yeah, they all do.
Jessica Capshaw
Okay.
Camilla Luddington
No, like, the broad strokes.
Jessica Capshaw
Okay. Are we going to get to the point where she's like, 007? Is she there yet? No, that's not season three.
Camilla Luddington
Oh, God, I don't remember.
Jessica Capshaw
I mean, you're in for a rough ride.
Camilla Luddington
I know.
Jessica Capshaw
For a rough ride. It's tough.
Camilla Luddington
Well, how about the people who do it over and over and over and over.
Jessica Capshaw
I don't know how they do it. Traumatic. But thank you for doing it, Mariah. Watching an ungodly amount of Tik Tok. You know, I have to say, I wasn't on the Tik Tok train last year for the majority of the year.
Camilla Luddington
But you are now.
Jessica Capshaw
Can't stop. Yeah, can't stop. One stop.
Camilla Luddington
Well, I think when you start, you can't stop. That's the whole point.
Jessica Capshaw
And I gotta tell you, you know this about me and the crew knows about me. There's a lot of alien evidence on Tick Tock. There is.
Camilla Luddington
It's right up your alien alley.
Jessica Capshaw
It's right up my alien alley. And I. The only thing I have to be careful of.
Camilla Luddington
Anything out.
Jessica Capshaw
I figured most of it out. But getting sucked. I have been sucked into some conspiracy theories and then horrified when I realized they're definitely AI and not true. I've seen a huge amount of alien bodies on TikTok. Yeah, yeah. They're just there on TikTok.
Camilla Luddington
Ready for you.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah. The government, I think does like the FBI and ca. They release it on TikTok first so you can get your eyeballs on it. And then. And then you kind of realize that maybe that isn't really an alien body.
Camilla Luddington
Well, at this point, I. I really think that they could make anything look really real.
Jessica Capshaw
Well, that's the problem. That's the problem. And by the way, Matt is so sick of me talking about stuff.
Camilla Luddington
I think Chat GPT could give you a good.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, there's a guy called. And I. You make fun of my Bob. There's a guy called like Little Bob or something like that. And he's like a famous alien that is apparently Slim Bob, I don't forget.
Camilla Luddington
Or he lives.
Jessica Capshaw
Well, he's been caught on camera a few times. You know what I mean? Like he's.
Camilla Luddington
I really think I'm joking.
Jessica Capshaw
I'm not.
Camilla Luddington
No, I don't think you're joking.
Jessica Capshaw
Skinny Bob. Skinny Bob. There you go. Look him up. He's. He's all over Tick Tock. He's an influencer at this point.
Camilla Luddington
Skinny Bob. Vicki wrote in and said, oh, Vicky. Horses. Like my one horse friend. There is something about disconnecting from the world and having one on one time with the horse.
C
I think that that's true.
Camilla Luddington
I watched that. I've experienced that. I think that's very, very true.
Jessica Capshaw
Jenny said, turn off the tv, put down my phone, music on. And a bottle of Prosecco. Oh, yes.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah. I like that too.
Jessica Capshaw
You know what I do like? I don't. I like a little dancing in the kitchen.
Camilla Luddington
Yes. Oh, note to self. I should bring that back. I used to.
Jessica Capshaw
My favorite memories of my mom were her dancing in the kitchen, music on, dancing to Abba, music on making dinner, and it was just so cute because sometimes I'd come in and have a little dance with her.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah. Shake and shimmy.
Jessica Capshaw
That's a great. I love that. Let's call it what it is. Owning a cute bra and panties set that fits just right and can be worn all day makes it easier for you to feel sexy and confident.

Kayla wrote in and said red light sauna while meditating. Sounds very good for you.
Jessica Capshaw
It does. But like that sounds a little bougie. Like you have a red light sauna in your house. Do you go to a red light sauna? I've never done it, so I don't know.
Camilla Luddington
A red light.
Jessica Capshaw
Is it a sauna with a red light?
Camilla Luddington
You did not just ask that.
Jessica Capshaw
No.
Camilla Luddington
Someone said that is a red light sauna. A sauna with a red light.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, but like, I don't really understand. So it's like you sit in the sauna and it's red in there. Well, I know I sound stupid. I'm aware right now.
Camilla Luddington
No, you're not stupid. But here, here's what I, here's how I understand it to be. There are different kinds of saunas, right? So there's like dry heat, there's the infrared. Yeah. No, there's different kinds of saunas. And then what they've been doing in that, in that bougie world that you refer to is they've been also there's little add ons. There's add ons so they can put a red light in there. So then your red light. Because as long as you're stuck. Because that I don't understand. I mean, truly, in the wellness world, if I have seen. I didn't. I've only seen them on Instagram. I haven't seen them on Tick Tock. But I mean there are some people's morning rituals that are. That's my. It would be my whole day. Like when it was done, it would be time to Start the one for bed. They're so long. They're so, so, so long. So they're dry brushing and they're scrubbing and they're masking and they're lifting and they're.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
Meditating. And they're all of it. It's a lot. It's a. It's a. And I'm. I have no doubt that it's all incredibly good for you.
Jessica Capshaw
What does a blue light do?
Camilla Luddington
I feel like blue lights for acne. Don't you have, like, the. The LED lights?
Jessica Capshaw
Oh, God, I don't know. Who knows? All right. Charlotte said, being delusional, thinking about scenarios in favor of me that will never happen.
Camilla Luddington
I like Charlotte so much.
Jessica Capshaw
No, that's manifesting. That's not delusional Charlotte. That's great.
Camilla Luddington
I love that Charlotte. Yeah, you keep on doing that. Escape reality and then make your. Make your own.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
Ella says burrito mode. Headphones, favorite music. Eye mask and wrapped in a blanket. I like.
Jessica Capshaw
Oh, I thought she meant making a burrito. She means making herself into a burrito.
Camilla Luddington
Making herself burrito.
Jessica Capshaw
You know, not making a burrito. Not my jam. Making myself. Definitely my jam. I like, love a burrito mode, huh, Penny Bravo. TV shows, housewives. Yeah, you do. There's so much drama going down on Beverly Hills right now. Maybe we need someone on.
Camilla Luddington
Yes, we need that to happen right away. Stat. Jen says I turn on my favorite playlist, make a fresh coffee, and work on a puzzle. I became a puzzler last.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, we talked about this. Your. You. Your first puzzle was 5, 000 pieces. Yeah, it was the largest puzzle ever.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah. Made that I. And we. Josie and I would do them, and we called ourselves the puzzlers.
Jessica Capshaw
That is so ridiculously cute. She's absurd.
Camilla Luddington
Puzzler. She's a real cute puzzler.
Jessica Capshaw
Rose said Rom Com Films.
Camilla Luddington
Oh, who doesn't love that?
Jessica Capshaw
Okay, wait, what's your. I don't know. This about you. And I gotta think about mine. Okay. With my face.
Camilla Luddington
The first one that came to my mind just right in that moment was My Best Friend's Wedding. But I did recently rewatch Bridget Jones Diary, which.
Jessica Capshaw
Oh, it's so good.
Camilla Luddington
It's so good. But I. You know, I liked. I was a big. I watched them all. There wasn't anything that Meg Ryan did that I didn't like.
Jessica Capshaw
Oh, Sleepless in Seattle.
Camilla Luddington
I mean, just.
Jessica Capshaw
I just want to cry, but I gotta tell you, Serendipity, that movie. Loved it. John Cusack, Kate Beckinsale and. And it. It's so cute. And romantic. And I feel like it's not, like, loved enough. And it should be loved.
Camilla Luddington
Cali. Retreat to my imagination. Just make up fun stories and dreams.
Jessica Capshaw
Write them.
Camilla Luddington
I love that so many people are using themselves as an escape to reality. Like not finding something else to do.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, Maisie, go thrifting. Watch my comfort show. Or grab coffee. Go. I do like thrifting. I found some fit. My favorite sweaters are from a thrift store. Love them. And I wear them all the time.
Camilla Luddington
Did you get those Beetlejuice pants at a thrift store?
Jessica Capshaw
No, I didn't, Jess, actually. But thank you for asking.
Camilla Luddington
Someone made them recently.
Jessica Capshaw
Those were brand new and they weren't. They were made, I don't know, five years ago. And. And I will be getting you a pair.
Camilla Luddington
Please make sure I have matching pair.
Jessica Capshaw
Why do you love those pants so much?
Camilla Luddington
I don't know. They just really, really, really got me. They had me at hello, Instant attraction.
Jessica Capshaw
Me too. That's why they were on my body. Okay. Ainsley says I watch Friends over and over again. Laughter is my best escape.
Camilla Luddington
Amen.
Jessica Capshaw
It's so great. I really do know, like, literally probably every line in every episode from that show.
Camilla Luddington
It's so good.
Jessica Capshaw
The casting's so perfect.
Camilla Luddington
All I ever wanted to do is be on a show like that.
Jessica Capshaw
They don't make them like that anymore, Jess.
Camilla Luddington
No, and they should. Speaking of writing, the writers that write shows like that, it's such a specific art.
Jessica Capshaw
Well, we're talking about a three camera.
Camilla Luddington
Oh, it's so three cameras hard.
Jessica Capshaw
We know that there's a great comedy is like out of elementary out right now and all those shows, but, like the three camera sitcom. Like that.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
Live audience. I can't think of one.
Camilla Luddington
No, no, no, no, no. Was Big Bang Theory single camera or multi camera?
Jessica Capshaw
Multi.
Camilla Luddington
Yeah. That was. Honestly, that was probably one of the last.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah.
Camilla Luddington
Really successful ones.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah. Okay. Betty said a 2,000 piece puzzle. This is.
Camilla Luddington
Oh, Betty got the same.
Jessica Capshaw
