It what it is with Jessica Capshaw and Camille Ludington.
Camille Ludington
An iHeartRadio podcast Foreign.
Jessica Capshaw
Hello, Call it crew and welcome to another episode of Short and Sweet. And this one is White Lotus, the White Lotus Edition.
Camille Ludington
Okay, so spoiler alerts because we're going to Talk about it.
Jessica Capshaw
My first observation. I'm just going to say this right off the bat. Why are you. Why is anyone staying at the White Lotus anymore? There's been a murder or a death at, like, three locations at this point. If I'm clicking. I mean, clearly that's going to make headline news. That's not a location that I want to vacation at anymore.
Camille Ludington
No. No. Because it seems like some bad things might happen there.
Jessica Capshaw
There's always a body floating.
Camille Ludington
But I'm happy to sign up for it. Top note. Thing that comes to mind. I. I love having to wait a week. I love not binging. I love not binging. I really got back in touch with the side of me that just the expectation. I thought about it during the week. When is. What day is it? When do I get to see the next episode? And I really love that. I love that part of watching television. I liked. I liked waiting for it. And I. And I watched the finale on the night. I was about 30 minutes behind, but I watched the night and I was so excited. Like, got myself all set up. It was fantastic. Loved it. Loved it. Did you watch it?
Jessica Capshaw
And I watched it on the night. I had a little bit. You know, I want to talk about what you just speak on what you just said. I do think that it being week to week and not something you can binge in, like, three nights makes for a water cooler moment, which never happens anymore because I was with a group of people and we were all making bets on, like, yes.
Camille Ludington
On the high.
Jessica Capshaw
Right. Like, and. And someone was convinced that the monkeys were gonna kill everybod. Yeah. That a lot of people actually thought the monkeys might be involved because they were. Through the whole, you know, the season, there was a monkey here and there. But I think it really. It was like, oh, this is what old school TV used to be. Right. And now we don't really get that moment anymore. Definitely watched it. We're going to talk again. Spoilers. Spoiler. Spoilers. Because we're going to talk about all the things. Okay. Walton Goggins. I knew that that was his dad.
Camille Ludington
I. You did. I remember. I know you did. And I heard the theory, and once I heard the theory, I agreed with it. So I didn't come up with. I. But then I was like, yep, for sure.
Jessica Capshaw
I didn't know before, but when he had the meeting with the dad, there was something about the conversation where I was like, oh, dude, that's his dad.
Camille Ludington
Well, and I would like to point out that it was also so, for me, uneventful. Like, we had been hearing about the dad for so long, and then he finally gets to him and I thought, well, if this is. Yeah, this can't be it. Is what I thought. I thought, this can't be it. And so when it was done, I was like, oh, he's definitely his dad, because this can't be it. This is the payoff. There's another piece to this.
Jessica Capshaw
Yes. I'm confused why that character would have that run in with that guy. They know he's staying at the White Lotus. Yeah. And he goes back to the White Lotus.
Camille Ludington
Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
Like, chilling.
Camille Ludington
Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
I was like, dude, that was the time to get out.
Camille Ludington
Yeah. Right. I thought that too.
Jessica Capshaw
Like, grab your girl and run.
Camille Ludington
I know. Yeah. Well, sometimes everyone. You just have to suspend. Of course you can. Because I did. I did think that as well. I love that he. When he. He leaves Sam Rockwell in the hotel completely having splintered his entire recovery and get to the elevator is like the.
Jessica Capshaw
Role that Sam Rockwell did down the hallway, that was like, completely unnecessary. And then the jump on the chair was so brilliant. And I read so good. And I read this article that they were originally. They had originally cast somebody else and sort of last minute casting because it didn't work out. And he was brilliant.
Camille Ludington
He's so good at it.
Jessica Capshaw
The scene stealer.
Camille Ludington
I mean. I mean, that monologue where he's talking about all the. I was actually just really trying to follow the.
Jessica Capshaw
I was like, where is this going?
Camille Ludington
Yeah. I was like, wait, what you want to be? Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
Once he's talked about what he wanted to be, I was like, wow. Out of left field. Loved it.
Camille Ludington
Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
Okay. So I was sad, obviously, that Amy Lou.
Camille Ludington
Amy Lou would. She was spectacular the whole eight episodes. I mean, everyone was great. She. Everyone was great. She was for something. I don't know. Maybe it was because I didn't. I wasn't as familiar with her, but she was such a standout to me.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah. She's.
Camille Ludington
I loved her character. I loved her just. You know what? I love a character that's just undeniably optimistic and irrationally so on some level, clearly. But she didn't seem delusional. She played it in a way that there was some ground beneath her feet. Like, I didn't feel like she was up, you know, up in the clouds. There was something about her that I fully believed.
Jessica Capshaw
As soon as that gunfight started, though, I was like, oh, she's. She's gone.
Camille Ludington
Well. And she also was talking about how bad things come in three threes.
Jessica Capshaw
I know the guard by the gate.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, guy talk.
Jessica Capshaw
Guy talk. First of all, you are really by the gate. Let's talk about that like the worst at your job. And when it really came down to it, you why aren't you outing the dudes that were that were there?
Camille Ludington

Let's talk about the girlfriends.
Camille Ludington
The girlfriends. I auditioned for the, for one of those parts. I auditioned for Leslie Bibbs part and I remember getting the audition and being like, I mean I'm just such a huge fan of the show. So I was giddy with excitement and it's always so fun to, you know, put together an audition and see where it goes and then see it come to fruition. Because what's unbelievably remarkable and wild about the casting process is, and I guess not shocking. We're all very different. We all have a very different take on it. So watching Leslie's, I was like, oh my God. And I was so in and I thought she was fantastic.
Jessica Capshaw
What do you think about the end? Because you know what, I'm gonna be honest, I really wanted one of them to say, go yourself. I'm not sure how I feel about them all being conveyor a little bit.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, yeah, yeah. By the end of it I may I read something that Mike White actually went to one of these places and sort of either way now he's completely been outed. Because if you're on vacation and you see Mike White next to you, then you're gonna be. Yeah, well, no, you're gonna be on the show. Because he was listening. Well, this is what I mean, this is what this little bit that I, I read or I don't know, saw or maybe it was one of them in the interview saying that they, that he had been listening to this group of women that were on vacation and, and, and saying that, you know, whenever they, they all, they'd all be, you know, having fun and talking and then as soon as one of them would leave, the other two would just like start talking about the one that left. Yes, talking here's.
Jessica Capshaw
I'm gonna tell you what I wanted.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, yeah. What'd you.
Jessica Capshaw
Now that I've like, now that I've watched the finale, I wanted them to be like, you have a massive falling out at dinner. Right. Or wherever they were at. And they're walking together and he pulls them in for the picture and they're like reluctantly out together. And then with the gun fight. Yeah, you see them all together because they, they like their trauma. They're trauma bonded and they realize what matters in life. Right.
Camille Ludington
Which is each other.
Jessica Capshaw
And so that's maybe the moment where it's like, actually we love. Like this is all bullshit.
Camille Ludington
Right.
Jessica Capshaw
But I could watch those three. I wanted more.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, yeah. Well, we got. I mean, listen, Carrie Coons. I never felt the fear. I got. I took that personally. That, that scene when she jumps out the window.
Jessica Capshaw
Oh my God. Then she's walking by herself in Thailand.
Camille Ludington
By herself. Walking down the street in the middle of the night. I mean, walking down the street in the middle of the night.
Jessica Capshaw
Any. Anywhere. Yeah. But in a country you don't live.
Camille Ludington
In where you don't speak the language and you. You don't know the program. I would be a different level of scared.
Jessica Capshaw
The. Okay, I. There's a part of the show last week before this when I was like literally under a blanket. I couldn't even watch. And it was after she had sex with that dude and then he was like hitting her up for money and I was just horrible.
Camille Ludington
Her dying. Uh huh.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, yeah. She's listening. And I was like, no, Gary, no.
Camille Ludington
Get out. Get out. Yeah, I was worried for her. I was worried.
Jessica Capshaw
I was worried too.
Camille Ludington
I was actually, when that girlfriend came at the door, I was like, thank God.
Jessica Capshaw
No, true. Thank God. Oh.
Camille Ludington
I was like, get out of here. To get out of there quick.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah, that was quick.
Camille Ludington
I also felt, I mean, it was obviously in all the seasons, but for some reason this season, the music really made me very tense.
Jessica Capshaw
The music was like, yeah, very tense. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Didn't. Anytime that happened, full body shows.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, well, no, clenching is more me. I was very clenched, waiting for something bad was going to happen. I definitely, also, because of what happened, you know, earlier, I was a little bit worried about Lachlan trying to kiss his sister.
Jessica Capshaw
Listen, he's a people pleaser. It's like, whatever you want. He's gonna do it. Actually, I. My favorite scene of the finale, Carrie Coons speech was. Did make me cry, actually. That was incredible. But my Favorite scene of the whole finale was when Piper realizes that the food's not organic there. And. And then. And then Parker Posey's smiling face every time they cut to her, and she was, like, just getting more and more joy and, like, it was a little smug, right? Like, she knew it. I loved it so much. I didn't want any of them to die.
Camille Ludington
No, I know. I didn't either. I didn't either.
Jessica Capshaw
Did you guess the fruit. The forbidden fruit part? The. The poisonous fruit in this movie?
Adam and Eve Advertiser
No.
Jessica Capshaw
Well, you're not on Tick Tock. Okay, yeah, yeah. I mean, you are, but you're not on it. Like, I'm on it. And that was out there in the world that that was gonna maybe happen. Not a spoiler, but, like, did they.
Camille Ludington
Think that Saxon was gonna go down because he was the major smoothie drinker?
Jessica Capshaw
They thought Saxon was going to go down poor. I mean, I do feel Lachlan and Saxon. Oh, can we. We do need to talk about that scene, though, because that scene where you see them having their threesome and then I didn't clock it at first. Matt was like, wait a second.
Adam and Eve Advertiser
I didn't either.
Camille Ludington
I didn't know where you're gonna go with it. I didn't either. I had no idea.
Jessica Capshaw
He had to rewind it because he was like, I don't think that's his hand. I was like, what do you mean it's not his hand? The scream that I did.
Camille Ludington
Yeah. Yeah.
LifeLock Advertiser
Well.
Camille Ludington
And you know, Mike White, hats off to you, because it is hard to do something where nobody saw that coming. I did not see that coming.
Jessica Capshaw
I was like, did.
Camille Ludington
Whoa. Did not see it coming.
Jessica Capshaw
No.
Camille Ludington
Nope. Nope.
Jessica Capshaw
Greg needs to die.
Camille Ludington
Oh, Greg, Gary, Greg, Gary, whatever your name is. No, his name is Greg. Yeah, I will. I think his name is Greg. But he said.
Jessica Capshaw
He said, gary, Belinda.
Camille Ludington
I love her. Oh, my God, the money. Yes, she did.
Jessica Capshaw
No, that's gonna catch up with her. That's not gonna go well.
Camille Ludington
Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
I'm telling you right now, Greg is gonna. And Greg is gonna be back. Here's what I really want, Jessica. Here's what I'm gonna manifest.
Camille Ludington
Okay.
Jessica Capshaw
I think it's time for me and you to check into a white lotus.
Camille Ludington
Okay. Yes.
Jessica Capshaw
I don't know. I don't care where it is. White Lotus. Antarctica.
Camille Ludington
Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
The North Pole. White Lotus. We're ready.
Camille Ludington
But not.
Jessica Capshaw
Listen, wherever Mike White wants it.
Camille Ludington
It's true. Oh, I would go checking my bags. Yeah, for sure.
Jessica Capshaw
For going wherever.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, I'll. I'll audition. I'LL just keep auditioning. That's what I did for Grace.
Jessica Capshaw
I just kept auditioning and I'll just pop in.
Camille Ludington
I think it's important to say it's. It's really. Because, you know these things that we watch and as actors and in this business, it's like you. You really will. You'll notice it as many times as you, as you. As they want you to. I mean, I loved Grey's Anatomy and I was like, I'll audition all the times. And I took three times. So I'm hoping it'll just take two for Mike White and the. And the White Lotus. Yeah. If it needs. You know. Well, do. I'll just keep going.
Jessica Capshaw
Like. I think that we should come on as sisters. Yes, Mike, come on. You need us. You need some sisters.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, you do. Yeah, you do.
Jessica Capshaw
You haven't seen sisters on the show yet.
Camille Ludington
Nope. We're going to come on as sisters and. Yeah, we're going to do some tricky shit.
Jessica Capshaw
I'm going to kill Greg.
Camille Ludington
There you go.
Jessica Capshaw
That's what I would pitch. Okay, I'll take him out.
Camille Ludington
It's time with your Krav Maga skills that you've honed.
Jessica Capshaw
Whatever I need to do.
Camille Ludington
Yeah, yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
If we could honestly check into the White Lotus, where would dream location?
Camille Ludington
Okay. Well, I, you know, the White Lotus, this last season, they did a lot of interviews and I clicked on all the little tidbits to. To watch them and they talked a lot about. No one was complaining, but they were just saying it's isolated, was tough. Thailand was tough, I think, because the weather and it was buggy and it was hot and. Yeah, it was a lot. So I think we'd have to really think about a place where, you know, we're going to be comfortable. Yeah, it's going to be beautiful. Yeah, we can really feel the vacation piece of it.
Jessica Capshaw
You know what they haven't done? They haven't done a White Lotus like, snow situation.
Camille Ludington
Like a ski chalet.
Jessica Capshaw
A ski chalet. I think. I think we check in and it's a little apres. Apres ski. Whatever it's called.
Camille Ludington
Cozy Sweaters.
Jessica Capshaw
Yes, sweaters.
Camille Ludington
Yeah. Yeah.
Jessica Capshaw
And it's a snow.
Camille Ludington
Yeah. Okay. Okay. I would do that. I would do a snow. I would like a Switzerland. I would do a. I would do like a Saint Barts. I'd do a Caribbean situation.
Jessica Capshaw
True.
Camille Ludington
But during the right time of year.
Jessica Capshaw
Yes.
Camille Ludington
All right. You know what? I like this for us, I think. Yeah. I think since we were just discussing vision boards, I think we should add this. The White Lotus.
Jessica Capshaw
Are you kidding? I'm ready, Mike. Please. I'm ready.
Camille Ludington
We're coming for you.
Jessica Capshaw
Yeah.
Camille Ludington
And we'll see you. We'll see you at check in.
