Claire is still on maternity leave, but we couldn't let this holiday pass us by, so we've compiled all three of our episodes on The Original Trilogy into one episode. If you haven't heard all* our Star Wars content, or if you want to revisit it, here they are all in one place!Enjoy, and May the Fourth Be With You! This will be our last episode for a little bit, as Claire prepares to deliver Baby Fisher! Please enjoy our back catalogue."Loverboy" sounds like it should be a porno: a pizza delivery boy starts a side hustle as a prostitute. Yet this cheesy setup has a surprising amount of heart...and a Baby McDreamy!Follow the pod:FacebookInstagramFollow us:Follow ClaireFollow KatieConnect:12&24 Discordawaycarriedpod@gmail.comClick to view transcript

This 1989 classic film is one that neither of us had ever come across, but found to be quite relevant with its themes of xenophobia, suburbia, and paranoia. Carrie is a voice of reason, who [Spoiler] turns out to be wrong. Paranoia for the win! At last! A movie with a beginning, middle, and end. Tension! Stakes! An actual mystery! And only about 20 minutes of excessive plot and/or racism! Also, Carrie is a very believable murder suspect.Movie: An Appointment with Death (1988)Follow the pod:FacebookInstagramFollow us:Follow ClaireFollow KatieConnect:12&24 Discordawaycarriedpod@gmail.comClick to view transcript

"The Time Guardian" is an unholy alliance between The Terminator, Mad Max, Star Wars, and a healthy dose of Bladerunner. It doesn't work as a movie, metaphor, or story. But it has its moments, and (spoiler for a 38-year-old movie) Carrie at least gets a heroic--if stupid--death. Like a bad case of "the social disease," we're BAAAAACK. Just when you though Hollywood couldn't underuse Carrie any more, she pops up post-credits in a strange PSA about (ostensibly) safe sex. Join us for a fever dream of a late-night channel surf with "Amazon: Women on the Moon." We finally made it to Carrie's first book! It's a book light on plot but full of beautiful characters, dark humor, and a whole lotta heart. Follow the pod:FacebookInstagramFollow us:Follow ClaireFollow KatieConnect:12&24 Discordawaycarriedpod@gmail.comClick to view transcript

Ostensibly about the Statue of Liberty contrasted with an immigration story, "Liberty" manages to leave out the most interesting parts of both. And yet, Katie found it charming. Claire was significantly less enthusiastic. And Carrie is, as is too-often the case, mostly absent. "From Here to Maternity" is a fever dream of a movie, full of references to other movies and all-too-familiar anxiety around a falling birth rate. But hey, we're holding out hope for birthing robots! After Carrie's first stint in rehab, she was let go from "Clue," which would have been such a fun movie to discuss. "Hollywood Vice Squad" is...not fun. Not dramatic. Not interesting. Just...not.But, it kept Carrie employed during a dark time and for that we must begrudgingly be grateful.
