This play is an autobiographical account of the arrest and imprisonment of Palestinian poet Dareen Tatour. Following her arrest in 2015, she was sentenced to five months in prison and three years of house arrest; her case drew international attention. The monologue explores intimidation and dehumanization, but also solidarity, resistance, and self-empowerment. In its German premiere, the performance examines the role of artistic freedom and art as a means of resistance. Nearby, in Retzow-Rechlin, is the site of a satellite facility of the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp. This forced-labour camp was active from 1940 to 1945. How can its legacy be kept alive today? How do we reconcile the violent memory of these crimes with Fusion as a place for parties, ecstasy, and “holiday communism”? Diana Groó, the granddaughter of Judit Varga-Hoffmann, a survivor of the camp, together with Angi Meyer from the Gedenkstätte Ravensbrück, will address these and further questions.
