Olivia Amato joins Avery from her stunning apartment (she decorated it herself!). You might know Olivia as the high-energy Peloton instructor behind your favorite bike and tread workouts, but there’s a lot more to her story. She opens up about leaving Wall Street, becoming a mental health advocate, and finding joy. They get into office pranks, setting boundaries, marriage, and Olivia’s mission to get more rescue dogs adopted.

Hi guys. Welcome back to Cheers. I'm so excited for today's episode.
Avery Woods
We are in the beautiful home of the lovely Olivia Amato in New York City.
Olivia Amato
You know her from the bike, the tread and her signature mix of intensity and encouragement. I personally have loved her classes for years. She, she is a former finance girl turned fitness star, prank queen and someone who always looks perfect even mid sweat. I am so excited to get to know Olivia behind the classes from her.
Avery Woods
Journey into wellness, her life off the clock and everything in between. So let's get into it.
Olivia Amato
Hi, welcome to Cheers. I'm your host, Avery Woods.
Avery Woods
Hi, Olivia.
Scott
Hi, how are you? I'm good. How are you?
Avery Woods
I'm great.
Olivia Amato
Thank you for having me in your home.
Scott
Thank you for coming over.
Olivia Amato
You guys. Her, her place here in New York is crazy.
Scott
Thank you.
Olivia Amato
It's so gorgeous.
Scott
Thank you.
Olivia Amato
And as soon as we walked in, I was gonna ask who your interior designer was and you said you did it yourself, which is crazy to me.
Scott
I truly like, I have no idea how I just Ordered a bunch of and, like, hope for the best.
Olivia Amato
No, he did a great job.
Scott
Thank you.
Olivia Amato
Goals.
Scott
Thank you.
Olivia Amato
It's so interesting sitting down with you, because all I've ever known you for is, like, instructing me on a peloton tread.
Scott
Right.
Olivia Amato
Because I've watched you for a very long time, so it's so good to get to know you.
Scott
It's so nice. Is it weird? A little bit. Like, because usually it's kind of weird, too, because, like, I see you over screen, and then, like, we're like, humans.
Olivia Amato
I guess not. Yes. For me, I meet a lot of people in this industry, so it's not strange, like, meet people in person, but when I was, like, an actual user of your classes, that is weird to me. I don't know if people tell you this, but when you have peloton instructors, you get, like, a weird personal connection to them. Do you feel that way?
Scott
No. Well, like, I don't feel that way with myself, but, like, people will say something, and I'm like, wait, what?
Olivia Amato
Like, yeah.
Scott
Oh, yeah. And then it makes sense because, like, working out is such, like, a vulnerable thing. You're doing it in your house, especially. And, like, sometimes, like, for me, I used to work out because it would help me clear my mind. It would help me, you know, feel better. Like, just the endorphins and, like, that's something that I'm, like, joining with that person to do and helping that person. So it makes total sense. But I think, like, the first time somebody said something to me, I was like, wait, what? Like, am I really? Like. Like, it's just. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. Well, I also think you're helping a lot of people change their lives in a positive way. And so people admire you for that and, like, feel connected to you.
Scott
Yeah. No, I'm so grateful that I get to do that. Truly.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. Like, seeing your peloton room, I was like, oh, my God. Action, action.
Scott
Here we are.
Olivia Amato
So I just want to know right off the bat, what's your preference? Teaching on the tread or the bike?
Scott
It kind of depends. I feel like for my own workouts, I probably would pick the tread.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
But teaching, I would pick the bike.
Avery Woods
Really.
Scott
I think it's easier to connect on the bike just because when you're running, like, you're literally dying.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I don't know how you, like, speak and instruct while you're truly.
Scott
Sometimes same.
Olivia Amato
I'm, like, choosing to walk while you're running and talking, like, not out of breath at all.
Scott
And I'm like, which Honestly, it's weird because, like, I feel like if I was on the other side or I know when I'm on the other side, sometimes I'm like, I'm not doing that, but, like, the camera comes on and, like, I have to. You know, you got to get it done. People are relying on me.
Olivia Amato
No, I love that you're honest about it, though, because it is really hard.
Scott
So hard. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
What's a morning like for you? What's like a normal day off? What's your ideal morning routine?
Scott
Yeah. So every morning is different.
Olivia Amato
Okay.
Scott
For me because my schedule's kind of all over. So sometimes I teach at like, 6:30 in the morning, and I'm up at 4:30. So in the mornings, it's different for me because sometimes I teach super early. So sometimes I'm up at 4:30, sometimes I'm up at 7:30. My. Do my mornings revolve around the dogs? Kind of pretty much.
Olivia Amato
They're so cute.
Scott
Thank you.
Olivia Amato
I'm obsessed with them.
Scott
I love them. Where's Toby?
Olivia Amato
Silent. Yeah. I will say, usually we have to ask people to remove their dogs because they're so loud when we record. And they're just chilling.
Scott
They're chilling.
Olivia Amato
Silent.
Scott
Like r. Is. Is she downstairs or up here? Oh, hi. Gotta go. Yeah. They're so sweet. But basically, you know, feeding them, walking them, all that stuff. And I do all of that before coffee, which is crazy. Crazy. But, you know, kids first.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I love that.
Scott
And Rue has anxiety, so just like, prepping her to get out and upstairs is a whole job in and of itself.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
And then. Yeah. Like, from there, I. It. Every day is different, but that's like, the morning is kind of revolved around that. Or I'm at the studio and, you know, my assistant's here, and the dog walker can help with the dogs.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. You have such an insane, like, presence and energy about yourself. And I feel like when people watch you, they could probably maybe assume that it's part of your job. Or maybe that's like, the energy that you exude in order to be a successful instructor. But meeting you, I can sense that that's just your energy all the time. Like, you just have such a positive, uplifting, energetic personality.
Scott
Thank you.
Olivia Amato
Where does that stem from?
Scott
I would say, if we're being honest, like, I'm totally not, like, this is me, but I get down on myself for sure. I have my days a hundred percent. I think I had to learn that. I used to be one of those people that, like, if I'm Negative. Everything trickles down and like, okay, maybe I missed a cat. I was trying to get a cab and somebody else took it. And then everything, if I don't change my mindset, everything that happens from there on after goes to shit.
Olivia Amato
Totally.
Scott
Like, and I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. Like for me, I've had to learn how to switch that around. And when I do that, my day completely transforms to. So just allowing myself. Like, we all have our days, we all have our moments, but getting myself out of that. I'm a huge Mel Robbins. Stan.
Olivia Amato
Oh my gosh. Let them change my life.
Scott
Yes. Yeah, let them in. The five second rule. It's like, it's so true. It's like you can give yourself the grace. The amount of time should just be a short amount of time to like let yourself think that way and then like let it go.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. And yeah, when I started listening to. Cause I listened to on audible, the let them theory, it changed my life. And I. That was when I was going through like a really bad mental health battle, which I know you're a big advocate for mental health, but I, I talk about this all the time, but we kind of talked about this off camera about how I worked during the pandemic and you know, was a bedside nurse and I saw a lot of really horrible things in the world, but I had never in my life struggled with mental health until my social media blew up and I got millions of outside opinions and like horrible things said about me and just lies about my family. And so that really affected me negatively. And I had so many people like, you have to read the let them theory that like opened my eyes to.
Avery Woods
So many things, 100%.
Olivia Amato
And it's, it's so true what she says, that you. Not just like with people, but like you're saying if, you know, if something's going wrong in your day, you can choose to let that happen and then move on. And I just love it. I love her.
Scott
I love her and I've met her in real life and she is everything they say, don't meet your heroes. Mel Robin, if she's your hero, she's amazing. She's exactly like what you would think. She's so cool and just like humble and.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Just. She's it.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, I know. Also like, she's just, she's like the hot mom that you want, like with the sick glasses and like her style is iconic. Yeah, I love her.
Scott
So cool.
Olivia Amato
Okay, anyways, we're here to talk about, you know, you, obviously you Came from a different background. Yes. Like, was it finance?
Scott
Yes.
Olivia Amato
What? How did you.
Scott
How. I know. So weird even imagining myself there. But I was an athlete growing up and I went to Fordham. I was always good with numbers, so I'm really adhd. Always have been, like, reading things like political science, like literature, all those things. Like, I would have to read the thing over 50 times to really digest, like, one thing.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
But math is so, like, quick and, like, you just do it and it's done and move on to the next one. I love. I know same. I loved math. So it kind of. We would have, like, guidance counselor meetings. And he suggested. He's like, what about finance? Like, you get to. If you're in sales, like, you get to foster relationships with people, but you also, you know, use your numbers, like, your skill with numbers. So I was like, okay, so I'm really competitive with myself. I'm. I'm not competitive with other people, but with myself, like, I just hold myself to a really high standard. And. And if I. If someone's like, you're not going to be able to do that, like, I'm doing it. And that's kind of what I did. Because people were like you at the time. They weren't really hiring people unless you were going to, like, an Ivy League school. But, you know, that's how it was. And so I wound up, like, really working hard and trying to get an internship. I got an internship at a bank. And then I wound up. And I. I think I liked all that because it was a chance for me to be competitive with myself and be like, prove it to myself totally. And then once I, like, full time, got the job, I was like, okay, I don't know if I like this. Like, I was just, like, sitting at a desk all day.
Olivia Amato
I was gonna say, you do not have the personality to be sitting, like, in a cubicle or at a desk.
Scott
It was. It was. And I. I remember I did a couple different things, but the last thing I did, I went from sales to trading, and I went to go literally pee. And they were like, where are you going? And I was like, oh, my God. Like, yeah, I can't even leave for five seconds. So I was just like, I can't.
Olivia Amato
Do this here in New York. Okay.
Scott
Yeah, yeah.
Olivia Amato
And then you were obviously working out on the side. So, like, what was your fitness life at that point?
Scott
Yeah. Yeah. So I was taking all my clients because people would usually take them to, like, a dinner or a concert. So I would take my clients to, like, workout Classes. So we go to a workout class, which is. This is like sickening. But it was like five in the morning. Yeah. We'd be done by six. We'd talk a little bit about, like, the markets. Lol. And then.
Olivia Amato
It's so weird imagining you.
Scott
I'm like, no.
Olivia Amato
In this room's like, what?
Scott
Yeah, it's weird. There are people. Did you wear a suit? I'm like, no, I didn't. That. I would never. Not nothing against it, but, like, it's just not my vibe.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
I would bring them to classes and be kind of like the younger generation of, you know, sales and trading. I would. I kind of started bringing them to these instead of going out and getting drinks after work.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
So that was like the best part of my day. Every single day. And I realized I was just like. I would started like, visualizing myself. I'm like, could I do it? What would I talk about? And I was like, wait, yeah, why? Why not? Why can't I do it? And I started teaching at a boxing studio on the side.
Olivia Amato
What?
Scott
Yeah, I know. Weird.
Olivia Amato
That's badass, though.
Scott
Yeah. I was like, obsessed. And then I auditioned for another place and got it and I left.
Olivia Amato
So, like, audition, like in Peloton?
Scott
No.
Olivia Amato
So you did like a different. You worked for a different company before Peloton?
Scott
Yes, and then I got recruited to Peloton.
Olivia Amato
Wow, that's so cool.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
So how long were you fitness instructing full time before you got picked up by Peloton?
Scott
I would say like a year and a half.
Olivia Amato
Damn.
Scott
Which is like, crazy because they saw.
Olivia Amato
The spark in you.
Scott
Yes. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
That's amazing.
Scott
I remember being like. And also, Peloton wasn't what it was back then.
Olivia Amato
You. You're like an OG kind.
Scott
So there's like different waves. The OG OGs. Like Jen Sherman, like, he's been there from the start, Jess King, like that. And then I was like an og. They brought me on to help them start the tread. Like me, Rebecca Kennedy, Andy. And then since I taught on a bike, they had me do that eventually.
Olivia Amato
But where are you from originally? You're from New York. I didn't know that.
Scott
Yeah.
Matt Wilpers
And.
Olivia Amato
Sorry, where'd you say you went to school?
Scott
Fordham in the Bronx. Fordham has a school, like their main schools in the Bronx, but then we also have a campus at Lincoln center. So we kind of like, go back and forth a bit, which was fun. It's just like. Yeah, it's full on, for sure.
Olivia Amato
So how long have you been with Peloton?
Scott
I Think I've been with them around six years now. Six or seven years.
Olivia Amato
I was gonna say it's been a while.
Scott
It's been a while, which is so crazy.
Olivia Amato
It's crazy. And also, the thing about Peloton, and we kind of talked about this on the drive over, is it's. It almost helps you create, like, an entire brand for yourself, which I think is really cool, because in addition to the instructor portion, where you're, like, actually physically a fitness instructor, you now have, like, an entire brand for you, and you have the ability to use your voice and share a lot about things that you go through or maybe things that are really important to you. Mental health. What. What made you want to talk about mental health awareness and publicly?
Scott
Yeah, I think that in the beginning of, like, being an instructor, especially at Peloton, I didn't really know what my lane is. Like, I was like, what's my. What is going to be my brand? What is my thing? Everybody has their thing. And I think that's the first part of the question is just taking a step back and being like, okay, what are the things that I love? What are the things that make me me? Like, whether it's something that is looked at as good or bad, like, what is me and it's a part of me. Mental health is a part of me. I, again, between ADHD and I also struggle with depression, and there's all these horrible stigmas around mental health, and everyone's, like, so quiet about it, and it shouldn't be like that. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Like, everybody has their certain things that they go through, and I wish I had somebody to talk to about it when I was a kid and be like, that's. No, it's. It's okay. Like, that's fine. And, you know, some of these things, especially with adhd, it's like, yes, it could be a weakness, but it's also one of my biggest, biggest strengths and, like, allows me to do what I do today. So, yeah, I just, like, I want people who are younger to know or even our age and. And beyond, like, that it's normal.
Olivia Amato
And this is an ad by Better Help.
Avery Woods
And you guys know my obsession with therapy. Therapy is absolutely changed my life. And for me, better help has helped me stay the most consistent in therapy that I've ever been. There is so much stigma about men's mental health, and I think it's really important to talk about that. My husband had a very hard time coming to terms with therapy, especially coming from such a masculine career in law enforcement. They're taught to suppress their feelings, not be in touch with their feelings or their feminine side. And I feel like therapy has absolutely changed his life. Men today face immense pressure. It's no wonder that 6 million men in the US suffer from depression every year, and it's often undiagnosed. It is okay to struggle. Real strength comes from opening up about what you're caring and doing something about it so you can be at your best for yourself and everyone in your life. Olivia Amato
There at the best price.
Scott
Talk about it.
Olivia Amato
It's also cool because you provide an outlet for people that struggle with mental health by working out. Cuz that's a huge thing that's personally helped me and I know that helps so many people is totally having a workout routine to kind of clear your mind and release some endorphins. I am like obsessed with Pilates now, that's been my thing because I had no abdominal strength after I had C sections.
Scott
Oh, my gosh. I like to see.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, two C sections. And I, like, couldn't even sit up. And once I found the workout that, like, worked for me, my whole life changed.
Scott
It's the best.
Olivia Amato
And I don't even say that dramatically. Like, you. Once you find your niche, like, it really does change your life. What's been one of the most influential interactions that you've had with someone that's taken your classes or something that you just has stuck with you?
Scott
There's been so many. I would say, like, top two. You know, one woman was saying how she was told she was never gonna be able to walk again, and now. And now she's, like, literally walking up to me, giving me a hug and taking my class and telling me how, you know, my classes were able to help her stay motivated to continue on that road and to continue moving forward. Like, that, to me, is ins. Like, I'm so grateful that I was able to help in that way. And, yeah, like, that's, like, really, Like, I love help. I really do love helping people, and I love good people. So, yeah, that's just hearing, like, it's just everything. And. And then I think the. Like, this. I remember somebody came over and was like, look. And they had, like, a tattoo of something I say in class, and I was like, what? Like, what? How me? Like, so it was just cool to see, like, that, you know, it makes an impact and it helps, and it's. It's something that she wants to look down at and be like, oh, that. That makes me feel better.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. Yeah. Before a big ride or before you are instructing, do you do anything to prepare? Do you have, like, a routine, or is it just in your DNA now?
Scott
I feel like it depends, like, if it's like, a live DJ class or a class that I don't teach all the time. I definitely. I still get, like, a little nervous before.
Olivia Amato
Really?
Scott
Yeah. Like, I did a. Do you know Artie, the dj? He's, like a dance music dj. And you probably, like, if you heard a song, you would recognize it. But I did a class with him, and he was, like, live mixing in the class, and I was like, oh, my God. Like, I was, like, freaking out before, but my routine is kind of like. I think I tend to. I do my makeup in the car ride on the way, which is. Do you in the dark sometimes. Like, it's. And sometimes I show up and I'm like, oh, my God, like, I need it. It's. But, you know, get the bass down, whatever. And then when I get there, I just feel like I. I take a second, I'll listen to music. I always set. Like, I put music on in the morning to, like, just. It helps me set my own vibe. And then. Yeah, some days I'm just, like. It comes naturally, and it's. I'm ready to go. And other days, I need to hype myself up a little bit more. Sometimes if I'm having, like, a bad day and I walk into the green room and Tundes in there, and we just start, like, joking around and being silly. Like, that helps me then go out there and. And be ready when the camera, like, so it could really be anything from, like, an interaction that. An unexpected interaction to myself literally being like, people are relying on you. So, like, get your together.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I heard you're kind of an office prankster.
Scott
I am, yes.
Olivia Amato
So what's the most iconic prank you've ever done on someone?
Scott
I think I would say so. I did this prank where I turned my husband into a girl and then, like, a picture, and I sent him. The picture was like, this girl said that, like, I should be careful. And, like, I, like, said all these things about you. And I sent him. He's like, who? And I sent him a picture, and it was him, basically, with a wig on, literally. I'll show you. Like. Like, it's him. It turned his Lacoste polo into a Lacoste V neck. Like, let's be real. Like, that's you. And he's like, I've never seen this girl in my life. So I'm saying all this because I did it to Matt Wilpers.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
And the same thing happened. I put him in a wig, basically, and he didn't recognize, like, I don't know who that is. How.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. Men are just so oblivious sometimes.
Scott
I was crying.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Like. Like crying. I was like, so. Yeah. Matt Wilpers. I was like, this girl is gonna cross your wedding. He's like, oh, I'm gonna have to get security on this. Like, I've never seen this girl. I was like, okay, we are. We are. Here we are.
Olivia Amato
Oh, my God. Okay. Speaking of your husband.
Scott
Yes.
Olivia Amato
You guys seem so sweet. I'm stalking your pictures in your house. How did you guys meet?
Scott
We met years ago. I was dating somebody else. He was dating somebody else, and we were on a double date. That was, like, not how it started. Yeah, that's how we. Hey. Actually, no, we. So that's how we Met and then we kind of were in. The person who I was dating was Irish, so they kind of, like, all, like, hang out, and I did. Me and my best friend vowed, like, I'm never dating an Irishman again after this. Boyfriend.
Olivia Amato
Oh.
Scott
And then years later, here we are, reconnected. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Was he living in the States?
Scott
Yes.
Olivia Amato
Is he from New York, too?
Scott
No, he's from Galway.
Olivia Amato
Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you got married over there. Yeah. That's so beautiful. Was it hard to plan a wedding out of the country?
Scott
It. We had a really great planner. Planner. She was amazing.
Olivia Amato
I asked solely because we're planning our vowel, and I'm considering Italy.
Scott
Okay. Still okay.
Olivia Amato
But it overwhelms me.
Scott
Are you. You're obviously, like, at your type A. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Oh, yeah. I'm psycho. Could you tell?
Scott
No, no, no. But, like, I could just, like. Like, I'm more like. I'm very. You seem very organized, and, like, so do you.
Olivia Amato
Look at your house.
Scott
No, I'm organized. Chaos, though. I am organized, but my brain is not. So, like, I'll be doing 50 million things. Like, my husband does everything, like, 1, 2, 3. I'm like, 1 12, 7.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Forget to take the. The clothes out of the washer and put it into the dryer, and then I have to wash it five times. Like, that's.
Olivia Amato
I feel that.
Scott
You know what I mean?
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Yeah. So I. I feel like I am more so, like, with the planning portion of it, I was kind of just like, you. You can do whatever. And I, like, I trust you. This is your job.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
And he was, like, more in it.
Olivia Amato
I don't get that vibe from you because everything I've seen is, like, so meticulous in your house. Well, you should be proud. Even if your mind's going a million miles an hour, it doesn't seem like that.
Scott
Thank you.
Avery Woods
Which is hard.
Olivia Amato
How long have you guys been married?
Scott
We have been married. This July will be three years. Oh.
Olivia Amato
So it's been a little bit.
Scott
Three or four. Three.
Olivia Amato
Three.
Scott
I think it's three.
Olivia Amato
She was like, forgot. I don't even know how old I am sometimes.
Scott
I don't know how old I am. I don't know who I. My name sometimes. I just.
Olivia Amato
My husband asked me probably every other week, like, how old am I again? My 36. I'm like, yes.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
I'm near 36.
Scott
I feel that.
Olivia Amato
What's your plan in the future? Do you guys think you'll have kids? Do you think you'll have a family? You still Kind of deciding.
Scott
I think that it's always been, like, every time I see my friends who have kids, like, I'm like, I do want something that's, like, half of me and half of him, and, like, I know he'll be a great dad. It's obviously terrifying. I don't think there'll ever be a time where I'm fully ready. So I just need to, like, accept that. And, like, if it happens, it happens for sure.
Olivia Amato
I see how you are with your dogs, though. Yes. And, like, I always base my judgment if someone's going to be a great mom, and I think you're going to be a great.
Scott
Oh, thank you. I mean, I'm obsessed with my. I'm like, I hope I like my kid as much as I like my dog. Well, like, what if I don't?
Olivia Amato
It's an immediate bond. Yeah, immediate.
Scott
That's what I hear. But what if you. What if that doesn't happen?
Olivia Amato
You'll grow to love them.
Scott
Okay.
Avery Woods
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
It'll be great for you.
Scott
Okay.
Olivia Amato
How did you know your husband was the one what sealed the deal for you?
Scott
I think that. So we met during. Not met, but we, like, started seeing each other during COVID Yeah. So we kind of had no choice. I was in my single girl era and, like, living my best life and being. And it was the first time where I really was, like, single and not wanting to settle down and just. I felt really good on my own. And I think Covid kind of forced us because at one time, it was like, okay, well, you could see one human, so have your choice.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
And it wasn't one thing necessarily. It was just kind of, like, an overall feeling of. I wasn't always guessing, like, okay, like, is he not going to, like, this? Or, like, trying to fit into his picture, which I felt with, like, other boyfriends in the past, like, he just felt safe and, like, it just felt easy.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I love that.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
I know so many people that started dating during the pandemic, and they're, like, some of the happiest couples I've ever known, because, like you said, you're kind of trapped with one another where you can't really, like, see or speak to anyone else unless. Yeah. You're kind of, like, forced to go from 0 to 100, but.
Scott
Right. And I feel like there's people who either started dating in Covid and it didn't work out, or people who are, like, now married.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Like, so you got to know pretty quick, like, if it was gonna work.
Olivia Amato
What do you Guys do on, like, a typical day off together, if you're spending the day together.
Scott
So something that's interesting. We're very different, obviously, but, like, he loves being around people all the time.
Olivia Amato
I was gonna say finance and. Well, I mean, that's kind of your background too, but, like, yeah, you're so different from that. Like, your job, your personality, your style.
Scott
Right.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
So, like, he. For me, like, I am totally cool chilling in the apartment all day, watching, like, Love island or, like, binging a show. He, like, likes to go out and do things, so finding something in the middle. Like, maybe one day we go and, like, meet his friends for brunch or my friends for brunch, and then the next day we're watching a show and chilling, like, you know, things like that. So finding meeting in the middle. I would say a little bit of both. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Does he take your classes?
Scott
He does sometimes. I'm actually shocked because I'm like, don't you? Don't you?
Olivia Amato
Aren't you tired of me?
Scott
Are you tired of me? Like, what's going on here? But he'll take some of mine. He'll take a couple of the UK instructors, too, because I feel like music taste wise, like, they. They get each other. So.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, I think your music is some of the best.
Scott
Thank you.
Olivia Amato
I think you have. Do you pick your own playlist?
Scott
Oh, yeah.
Olivia Amato
That's cool.
Scott
And I probably shouldn't even be saying this, but I spend the most time on that because, well, I think it's so important.
Olivia Amato
It's. You can tell because you can tell how much you prep for a class because your music always goes with whatever workout's going on. And I think that's very important because there's nothing worse than when you're, like, on a bike, sweating your ass off and the music just isn't hitting right.
Scott
It's like we're playing nothing against Sarah McLaughlin, but, like, we can't be playing, like, the crying. Like, I need be hyped up.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. Like, my inner vag is bruised right now.
Scott
Literally.
Olivia Amato
Like, pedaling God.
Scott
Exactly.
Olivia Amato
You talk a bit about, like, protecting your peace and privacy. So how do you stay grounded and set boundaries while still kind of sharing your life publicly?
Scott
Well, I used to share nothing. And every would be like, she's a robot. I'm like, nope, definitely not.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, there's some weird, weird things that people like to assume. Yeah. Like, she's AI.
Scott
Yes. Yes. Like, literally. I'm like, oh, if you only knew. But. And then I kind of was like, you Know what? I'm gonna share what I want to share. And the people who are gonna like me are gonna like me and the people who don't. There's always gonna be somebody who doesn't like you.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
And honestly, if everybody likes you, I feel like you're doing something. You're not being true to yourself.
Olivia Amato
Totally. 100.
Scott
So I just. I stay out of my DMS a little bit.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
I just can't.
Olivia Amato
I stop checking comments.
Scott
I don't. I'm like, I can't be looking at this. There's always going to be something and there's 500 nice things and then one not nice thing. And you focus. I focus on that.
Olivia Amato
Of course.
Scott
So I just stopped doing that. I also, I think it's funny because a lot of people are like, just say no. And I'm like, okay. But like, for me, for example, it's not easy for me to say no.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
I don't love, like, I feel bad saying no. And I know you shouldn't. I'm not saying, like, I would love to get better at feeling better about that, but I also think being honest with where you're at and explaining that to people and the real ones will show up.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Like, the people who are going to be, like, annoyed or mad or judge you, like, who cares?
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I have a huge. I'm a huge advocate for just protecting your piece.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
So it's. It's all about balance. But I love that you've kind of, like sprinkled in a little bit about your personal life, like on social media and.
Scott
Yeah. Because I think it's actually allowed me to connect to, like, people totally more as well. So.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. And also I feel like when people are taking your classes, they'll probably feel more connected with you and knowing about you and.
Scott
Right.
Olivia Amato
What's your husband's thought about all of that? Like having more of a public figure type job and people recognizing you.
Scott
Well, I actually find it my favorite thing in the world is when he comes to take class and somebody asks for a picture with him, I literally die. It's like, I wish I could have it on Cat. It's just the funniest thing. But no, he. He deals with it really well. I feel like he's more serious, so.
Olivia Amato
Working in finance.
Scott
Yeah. Like, he doesn't, like, love being on my social media. But, like, sometimes, like, if he's like, super serious, like, I only know how to, like. Like, I'm the type of person who will, like, laugh if somebody falls unless it's an old man. Then I'll cry. But I laugh because I'm just like, yeah, I don't know what else to do.
Olivia Amato
Me too.
Scott
I don't actually think it's funny. Like, it's like, ah, like, so if he's like mad at me, I'll just like play a prank on him or something. And he like hates it in the moment, but then like laughs at it.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
So like I feel like he does, he does well with it. He's fine with it.
Olivia Amato
We always joke that everyone always recognizes my husband first because he's the tallest guy in every room.
Scott
Yes.
Olivia Amato
So it's always like, they'll run up to him like, is Avery here?
Scott
Oh my gosh.
Olivia Amato
And then if I'm not, they'll ask for a photo and he'll text me sometimes and be like, hun, this like 20 something year old girl asked for a selfie with me and I felt really uncomfortable. Like I did it, but like, I don't want to like look weird if she posts it because he's like the nicest guy where he would never say no.
Scott
Right.
Olivia Amato
But he'll call me be like, that was so uncomfortable.
Scott
Yeah, same with him.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
He was at a dinner actually once and. And someone was like, like asked him at like a finance dinner. I was like, that's like, if I don't have any other stories to tell, like, I'll just take that one.
Olivia Amato
And you know, they're so uncomfy.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Have you battled any changes with your relationship regarding fitness now that you do it for your full time job?
Scott
Yes. So fitness used to be my outlet for sure. I'd go on, I do workouts before work or go on a run after because it just like let me clear my mind. And now I think coming to terms with the fact that it's my job now and it's okay that it's no longer my outlet is something that I've had to do and I've learned how to do it and just finding other things that allow me to forget about or just let go of everything and clear my mind. So I think it's been a learning process for me in terms of finding new hobbies or finding. I hate that. I hate when people like, what's your hobby? But like finding new things to do that aren't my job.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. How many times a week do you teach?
Scott
Five days a week.
Olivia Amato
You teach five days a week? Do you work out in addition to that or is that your work?
Scott
It really depends. I walk a lot. I used to do here in New York. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Oh, girl, I'm telling you.
Scott
Are you walking a lot?
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Here's the thing.
Olivia Amato
I wore these, like, massive boots. I saw Haley Bieber wear them.
Scott
Which ones? Wait, the.
Olivia Amato
No, the fry boots by your front door. Those ones. I know. And my leather jacket, too, was from Warren. Also was Hailey Bieber. They're so comfortable.
Scott
She's. She's great.
Olivia Amato
We were just talking about what an angel she is. We love her, but they were just really heavy. And I was telling Scott and, like, it's actually insane.
Avery Woods
I've never been in a city where.
Olivia Amato
It'S so much easier just to walk. Like, we wanted to go somewhere and it was like a 22 minute Uber or it was a 11 minute walk.
Scott
Exactly.
Olivia Amato
I'm like, we're walking, we're walking. And I said, could you imagine how minuscule I'd be if I lived here? I would literally blow away on a. On a rough one day.
Scott
That is so funny.
Olivia Amato
Winter, like, the snow would come and I would freeze because I'd be so tiny.
Scott
No, like, literally.
Olivia Amato
I don't know how you survive in the winters here.
Scott
The winters. I opt for hibernation.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
To be honest.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Like, I don't do well in the cold, to be fair. Like, I don't do well in extremes, like extreme heat and extreme cold. Like, I just. That's like another thing like, my husband loves to do. Like, the cold plunges and, like, I die after five seconds.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. Well, you're Polly. Pocket size.
Scott
Yes. Yes.
Olivia Amato
Guys, I don't think you understand. She's, like, the cutest, but, like, hottest. Like, petite. Like, you're just everything. Thank you.
Scott
I love this dress, by the way.
Olivia Amato
Oh, thanks.
Avery Woods
It's like a little set.
Scott
No, it's so cute.
Avery Woods
Thank you so much.
Scott
Very cute.
Olivia Amato
I. Yeah, I thought it was gonna be like, 78 today.
Scott
Is it?
Olivia Amato
Whereas yesterday I was freezing my ass off, so New York needs to pick up.
Scott
Bipolar.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I. Speaking of the winters, I was just talking to one of my friends that she said her friend took a, like, hot Pilates class where she was sweating so bad and then she walked home to her apartment and her hair was so wet from sweat that her hair literally froze in the winter here.
Scott
That's actually happened before. I've. I've like. Like, it almost like turns into like an icicle. Like, you can't go outside with wet hair.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. You can't catch me dead doing that. I just left the. The summers in Arizona that are 120 and I' good Do you.
Scott
Do you do well in extreme, like, heat or. Some people love it.
Olivia Amato
We have a boat, okay, so we'll go out in the lake. Like, my kids will surf on the boat, but that's about all you can do. But again, there's sun beating down on you on the lake, and it's 120. So it almost gets, like, scary with the kids because they get really hot and dehydrated. So we're very lucky to not be by the beach and in beautiful California weather. But when you come from that, like, you appreciate it so much and you're like, it's so hot today at the farmer's market, I'm like, girl, it's 80 degrees.
Scott
No idea.
Olivia Amato
Fine. I'm like, add 30 more degrees to that.
Avery Woods
As temperatures rise is the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe with not just summer essentials, but versatile pieces for every season ahead. Quince pieces are timeless, lightweight, and far more elevated than anything else at this price, like 100% European linen shorts and dresses from $30 Luxe Swimwear, Italian leather platform sandals, and so much more. Everything. Quint is half the cost of similar brands because they work directly with top artisans and cut out the middleman, giving you luxury without the markup. Scott and I were just laughing, saying, we have spent so much money at Quint. You guys know I love a good, buttery lounge set, and Quint is my absolute go to. I've gotten all of my friends onto Quint. It is so comfortable, so cozy. You can sleep in it all night, but you can also go run errands in it without looking like a crazy person. The thin, lightweight material keeps it nice and breezy for the summer, too, so you're still cozy without being overheated. The quality is so insane for the price. Olivia Amato
So since you started teaching, has there been anything that you. Has kind of surprised you about yourself as an instructor?
Scott
Yes. I think noticing how like, I would in the beginning I would kind of be in my own head, like, no, don't say that or say that. Or like learning how to quiet the inner gremlin, I think is something I never thought about before because until you're like speaking on a camera, you're like, you're not making sense or like, you're not. You can't just filter everything that you're gonna say because it's kind of goes back to the thing of like, not everyone's gonna like you. It's okay.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
And I think it also is like a. Just. It's. It's good to like, just to be a bit more compassionate with yourself of like, if you say something that maybe you didn't mean it that way or you stutter on a word, like, that's okay. You're a human.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
So. Yeah. Just be more human.
Olivia Amato
I. I feel like when I was struggling with like, my physical and mental health, the thing that helped me the most was getting enough sleep.
Scott
Right.
Olivia Amato
Like, that changed my life. To be able to prioritize that. Is there anything that you prioritize or that you think is really important for you to keep your physical and mental health in check? For me, I need a solid 10 hours.
Scott
Yes. Like, of sleep.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Saying that.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Yeah. I, like, I'm like, I need to sleep more. I really do. I'm horrible with sleep.
Olivia Amato
Really.
Scott
I. I am. Am I allowed to say I took a gummy. Oh, okay.
Olivia Amato
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Scott
Yeah. So like, I'm the worst. Like, I'll be like, oh, it'll help me go to sleep. And then I'm like on my phone and like going down a spiral of like, Yep.
Olivia Amato
You get sucked in.
Scott
It's a black hole, literally. So don't do that at home. Just go to bed. But for my mental health, I think it's just learning how, again, my husband loves to go out and like, be out all the time and be a social butterfly. And sometimes, like, I can't do that. And like, just acknowledging there's nothing wrong with it and sitting on the couch with my dogs is okay. That's what I need to, like, fill me up and, like, get my life to back. You know what I mean? Like, that's okay.
Olivia Amato
I had to start putting my phone on do not disturb.
Scott
Yes.
Olivia Amato
At night. Because I will get sucked into like a tick tock rabbit hole where I'm scrolling and scrolling and scrolling and then I'm like, how is it one in the morning? So I have to stop doing that. Right. And putting my phone on do not disturb.
Avery Woods
Putting it down.
Olivia Amato
Right. Because I was talking to one of the doctors I worked with, and she was like, looking at your phone before bed. It's the worst thing, is the worst thing you can do. You're not going to get into good REM sleep and you're going to have terrible dreams.
Scott
So I think I. Yeah, I have all of those things. Literally all of those things. So I think I need, like, tips on just not just put your phone.
Olivia Amato
And do not disturb an hour before you're planning on going to bed.
Scott
Okay.
Olivia Amato
That is what I think.
Scott
That's what I need. I literally, like, put it down and then think I'm gonna, like, fall fast asleep and dream of, like, lambs. Like, that doesn't happen.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, we need that.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Okay, we're gonna do a little lightning round. First thing that comes to mind, go to Hype Song.
Scott
That changes so much for me right now. I just did that live DJ ride, so I think his. The set that. It was just like a set he.
Olivia Amato
Missed that he mixed.
Scott
Yeah, Artie. Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Okay. Favorite meal.
Scott
Gosh, I'm the worst. So I'm the type of person who like, eats the same thing until I can't look at it ever again.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, you fixate. I'm the same way. That's a very high trait with ADHD people.
Scott
Okay.
Olivia Amato
They fixate on certain foods or cravings and things like. And they eat it until they can't stand anymore.
Scott
Right.
Olivia Amato
One of my best friends, when she was pregnant, all she ate was the same burrito, like, every single day of her pregnancy.
Scott
She can't eat it.
Olivia Amato
Oh, no, she still does, but she'll get over it. Soon. Yeah.
Scott
She's like, I. We're not there yet, but yeah. So I'm actually, like, in that transition period where I've, like, ruined, like, 50 meals and I'm trying to find, like, something that I enjoy eating.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
I have a big sweet tooth.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, I know. As soon as I walked in, you gave me candy. Oh, I said, oh, no, right, Exactly.
Scott
Wellness. Exactly.
Olivia Amato
I go down to your peloton.
Scott
Exactly.
Olivia Amato
Do you want some candy from Japan?
Scott
I said, okay, literally. You're like, sure. I literally gave one to everybody, but there it was good.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. Okay. What's your current fixation then, food wise?
Scott
Right now I've been getting the. A pura Vita bowl. It's. It's like basically like a veggie bowl and.
Olivia Amato
Okay.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I knew it was gonna be some.
Scott
Healthy, but it's not because, like, that's the thing. I'm like, really? Like, I try to be healthy, but, like, I. Everything in moderation.
Olivia Amato
I truly believe you have to have balance or else you'll binge 100.
Scott
Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Yeah, I'm. Yeah, I agree with that. Do you have a favorite themed class that you've ever taught?
Scott
Yes. Maybe it's a tie. I did a Sabrina Carpenter walk plus run, which was so fun.
Olivia Amato
I love your walk plus run classes because. I'm sorry, I'm not running for that whole hour. No, there's no way.
Scott
It's the best because they're really hard.
Olivia Amato
It's a good balance. Also, your heart rate's always elevated.
Scott
Yes, exactly.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
So I loved that one. And then I did a Justin Bieber ride that I loved as well.
Olivia Amato
You love jb.
Scott
I do.
Avery Woods
You're a believer.
Scott
I'm a believer. Labor.
Olivia Amato
What's one of your favorite projects that you've been involved with in your career?
Scott
So we were kind of talking about this before, but, like, finding things that bring you joy and it used to be fitness for me, but I recently started this series called Doggy Dates, and basically I take eligible adoptable dogs that have been in foster care for, like, three months or more, out on, like, their best day ever to showcase, like, their personalities and in hopes to get them adopted.
Olivia Amato
Wait, I love that.
Scott
Yeah, so it's been. We've done three so far, and we're three for three. They've all gotten adopted.
Olivia Amato
Amazing.
Scott
And it's just like, it literally, I. It's the best thing in the world.
Olivia Amato
And you just do that on your social media. Wait, that's so cool.
Scott
Yeah, no, we love it.
Olivia Amato
That's really fun.
Scott
It's fun.
Olivia Amato
So you're born and raised New York. Still live in New York?
Scott
Yep.
Olivia Amato
What's the most New York thing about you?
Scott
I think one thing about New Yorkers is people think New Yorkers are mean, but. No, I, I don't think New Yorkers are mean. I think they're actually really nice. Like, if, if someone falls on the sidewalk, they're gonna go help.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Pick them up. But if you have, like, a rolly bag and you're, like, swerving around on the street, like, that's annoying.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
Like, we have places to go.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
So I think, like, I think that's the most New York thing about. Not that I'm gonna be, like, kicking someone's rolly bag, but, like, I'm very loyal to, like, my friends, to my family, to those who I'm close with. So, like, like, don't mess with my friends and family kind of thing.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I think people here have the best intentions. It can come off sometimes harsh, but that's because they're very loyal to not just their family, but their city. Yeah, they, like, are, like, bleed New York.
Scott
Totally.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. They're obsessed.
Scott
Like, it's almost like, even when you ask that question, I feel like it's just like, me. So I don't even know what, like, is.
Olivia Amato
Yeah.
Scott
It's just there. It just exists in me.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I also feel like anyone that's. That's from New York and leaves tends to come back. That's at least, like, the behavior that I've seen with a lot of people I know.
Scott
100.
Olivia Amato
They all come back here. Ideal date night, I think.
Scott
Depends on my mood. But usually, like, just going out for a drink and then coming back and watching, like, a movie or a show is, like, that's, like, my idea.
Olivia Amato
What's your drink of choice? I'm curious.
Scott
Oh, a. Probably like, a tequila on the rocks, but a good tequila with, like, oranges.
Olivia Amato
Oh, you're. You don't around. You're a badass.
Scott
No, I, I, this has taken me. This is also something. One of the biggest arguments myself and my husband have because, like, I never know what to order because I like wine, but, like, a vodka soda, I, I just, I can't. No, I can't do it.
Olivia Amato
It reminds me of college.
Scott
Yes.
Olivia Amato
Yes. Especially, like, cheap vodka.
Scott
Exactly. Like, no. So. So I feel like that's the only thing to me that I'm like, okay, this, like, tastes like. You can put lime in it. You can put, like, whatever.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I love a good extra dirty martini.
Scott
Oh, See, I used to love them, too. And then I ruined them for myself.
Olivia Amato
Oh, because you drank them too much. Dream vacation destination, Japan. Yeah, that's what you were saying. Because she gave me this candy from Japan. You're gonna eat your way through Japan.
Scott
100. And I'm coming home with, like, five suitcases. Three of them will be with clothes and shoes. One will be with, like, all the toys and stuff and, like, the little, like, figur. Yeah, no, for me.
Olivia Amato
Oh, for you.
Scott
Oh, oh, oh, no. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Olivia Amato
Like, so, like, yeah, the little babies, too. My kids are obsessed with those.
Scott
I'm dead. See? Yeah.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. My son just. Okay, one of those naked ones on our thermostat at home, because what's it doing? Yeah, it just has a little baby butt. So every time I, like, set the alarm for the house, I just, like, see a bare baby ass.
Scott
Yes. I have, like, these little squishy things that I. They're really good for adhd. I gave one to my assistant.
Olivia Amato
Bri, I need to send you the link because one of my managers sent me the link to this. This tin from Amazon, and they're like these black magnetic stones. You have that spec? I think that's what it is. It helps with anxiety. Okay. My. Mine's blue, but my little beads are black.
Scott
Best thing ever. I have so many fidget. Like, if you need wrecks, I got you.
Olivia Amato
Do you use them while you're instructing? No, no, you're caught. You're fully concentrated. Okay. If you were not a peloton instructor and you could do any job for a week besides finance, what would you try?
Scott
Oh, you can throw it.
Olivia Amato
Oh.
Scott
Oh.
Olivia Amato
What? You're fine.
Scott
You're like. Don't throw it. Not.
Olivia Amato
Whoa. What's this called? Oh, this is. Oh, I love this. I know. I'm like, can we get her a sponsorship?
Scott
I know.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I'm obsessed with that. Okay. I'll be ordering on Amazon.
Scott
What were we saying?
Olivia Amato
Oh, well, what's a job you would try for a week?
Scott
Oh. So I. For a while, I considered DJing.
Olivia Amato
You would be such a hot DJ.
Scott
It would be so fun.
Olivia Amato
Would you go to EDC?
Scott
I used to.
Olivia Amato
Okay. My husband's gone, like, six years.
Scott
Okay.
Olivia Amato
His best friend.
Scott
Did you go?
Olivia Amato
No, See, my. His best friend. His wife is my closest friend. Amazing. So we're like.
Scott
We're his best friend.
Olivia Amato
So I've known him since, like, elementary school. Like, his best friend.
Scott
You're all friends, and then, like, everyone's friends.
Olivia Amato
His Wife is my closest friend. We're like the auntie and uncle to each other's kids. Like a big happy family, but they're both into EDM music. And Ashley and I, I love the music, but you couldn't catch me dead at that festival.
Scott
So. Yeah, I mean, I went like years ago, but I just. The thing with DJing, it's the same thing. It's like, I know I can do it, and I know a little bit. My brother's a producer, so he, he does more hip hop, but like, I know how to do it. Yeah, but being up like all night. Yeah, I just, just. I need to sleep. Or like, just be alone.
Olivia Amato
Yes.
Scott
I guess I don't really sleep, but I need to, like, just be alone.
Olivia Amato
Yeah. I've had friends that DJ or like, they'll invite me to some show and they're like, I get on stage at 2am I said I've been asleep for like six hours.
Scott
Literally, like crazy going on and starting at two is just like, I don't think I love anything.
Olivia Amato
I'm like, honey, I worked night shift before. Okay, I got that off my.
Scott
Right.
Olivia Amato
I'm done with that.
Scott
No, no. Know.
Olivia Amato
All right. What's something people would never guess about you but totally makes sense once they know you?
Scott
I don't know if this makes sense, but I was supposed to be a twin. I know. And I ate my twin.
Olivia Amato
It's kind of hot.
Scott
It's kind of trash. Like, it's so. It's so weird.
Olivia Amato
How did you fit that twin in there? You're so petite.
Scott
I know. I don't know.
Olivia Amato
Are your parents petite?
Scott
My dad's like 5, 10, 11.
Olivia Amato
Because I was gonna say it's like five' five. Usually twins are very petite, so it kind of makes sense of why you're so little. Because obviously when you have twins, they're not gonna get as big as like a single term child.
Scott
But why did I eat it? Like, why would I do that? I feel like it would be really fun to have a twin.
Olivia Amato
Sometimes the other embryo just like, doesn't make it. Doesn't make it. Yeah. But you know what? There you are. Here you are now. Well, I really appreciate you being on. This was so much fun. I am obsessed with you.
Scott
Oh, likewise.
Olivia Amato
Where can people find you?
Scott
Yeah, they can find me on Peloton. On Instagram. Just Olivia Motto and Tik Tok and all the fun stuff and make sure.

The conversation delves deep into Olivia's transformative journey from a finance professional to a celebrated Peloton instructor, her advocacy for mental health, and strategies for maintaining personal well-being amidst a demanding public persona.
Transitioning Careers: Olivia opens up about her unexpected shift from the finance sector to the fitness industry. A former finance professional with a background from Fordham University, Olivia shares how her competitive nature and passion for numbers initially led her to a banking internship.
Olivia Amato [09:06]: "I was really competitive with myself. If someone said I couldn't do something, I would prove them wrong."
However, the rigidity and monotony of desk jobs didn't align with her vibrant personality. Seeking more fulfillment, Olivia began attending fitness classes with clients, which ignited her passion for instructing.
Becoming a Peloton Instructor: Her dedication led her to audition for Peloton, marking the beginning of a successful six-year tenure with the company. As one of the original instructors, Olivia played a pivotal role in launching Peloton's tread and bike programs.
Olivia Amato [12:35]: "I started teaching at a boxing studio on the side, got obsessed, and then auditioned for Peloton. That was the turning point."
Balancing Responsibilities: Olivia details her dynamic morning routines, which revolve around caring for her dogs and preparing for her classes. Her mornings are a blend of personal responsibilities and professional commitments, often starting as early as 4:30 AM.
Olivia Amato [05:46]: "Feeding them, walking them, all that stuff—and I do all of that before coffee. Crazy, but kids first."
Supportive Partnership: Her husband, supportive and understanding, occasionally joins her classes and manages interactions with fans, allowing Olivia to maintain her energetic public persona while he handles more serious tasks.
Olivia Amato [32:51]: "He deals with it really well. He's more serious, so he balances my high-energy side."
Personal Struggles and Advocacy: A significant portion of the conversation centers on mental health. Olivia candidly discusses her battles with ADHD and depression, emphasizing the importance of breaking stigmas surrounding mental health issues.
Olivia Amato [14:11]: "Mental health is a part of me. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone has their things they go through."
Influence of Mel Robbins: Olivia credits Mel Robbins' "Five-Second Rule" for helping her shift her mindset from negativity to positivity, transforming her daily outlook.
Olivia Amato [07:21]: "The five-second rule is so true. It allows me to let go of negative thoughts quickly."
Impact of Social Media: She also shares her experiences during the pandemic, where increased social media scrutiny impacted her mental well-being, highlighting the need for mental resilience in the digital age.
Olivia Amato [07:35]: "Social media blew up, and it really affected me negatively. Therapy and tools like the 'Let Them Theory' opened my eyes."
Selective Sharing: Olivia discusses her approach to maintaining a balance between her public persona and personal life. By selectively sharing aspects of her life on social media, she fosters a deeper connection with her audience while safeguarding her peace.
Olivia Amato [31:34]: "I'm gonna share what I want to share. The people who are gonna like me are gonna like me, and the rest don't matter."

Olivia Amato [24:19]: "He was at a dinner and someone asked him about me. I sent him a prank picture, and he was like, 'I've never seen this girl!' It was hilarious."

Olivia Amato [34:33]: "Coming to terms with the fact that it's my job now and finding other things that aren't my job has been a learning process."
Importance of Sleep and Boundaries: She emphasizes the critical role of sleep and setting boundaries to protect her mental health, despite the demanding schedule of teaching five days a week.
Olivia Amato [41:53]: "I need to sleep more. I'm horrible with sleep."
