What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Ria and Fran giving you that Friday energy on a Wednesday. Happy Wednesday, everybody. We have a great episode today. We have Ashley Hesseltine from Girls Gotta Eat and her new special is out now on today's episode, we have the Popcorner. And besides that, we just got to do a little check in. You know, Alex Earl has hit us with a little bit of a check in. Barely. Absolutely barely. And we'll get to that. Sports Illustrated, all of that. What's going on? But just a quick reminder before we get into today's episode that we will be coming to you. Charleston in Miami. Charleston, Thursday night.
Fran
We'll draw in there. I thought, oh, I'm just, you know,
Ria
yeah, I'm just in getting in the mood, Just getting in the zone. We'll be there Thursday night, 5:30 to 7:30. Saltwater cowboys. Can't wait. So much fun. Just want to drink, have a good time with you guys. And then Saturday we will be at the Kimpton in Miami and we cannot wait to hang out, drink some Rum Haven. That'll be from 4 to 6 on Saturday. So a little happy hour before your night out. Cannot wait to hang out with you guys. I'm seeing already some DMs, some comments about some girls coming before the bachelorette weekends. And we're a great place to start the party. So cannot wait to hang out with you guys there. But besides that, what else is going on?
Fran
God, it's going to be so much fun. I'm excited. Little getaway. Have a great time. Drink some delicious Rum Haven.
Ria
Rum Haven cocktails.
Fran
Absolutely.
Ashley Hesseltine
The Best.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
It really is. No, I'm going to feel like I've had a busy week gearing up to travel, you know, where you just have those things that you need to get done before, like the girl checklist of things you want to get done. And. My God, I thought I wasn't gonna be able to get a nail appointment, and I got one right at the last. Right at the last minute.
Ria
I'm so happy for you.
Fran
You just, you know when you can feel. You're like, I'm on the edge of all of these breaking, like a few extra days and it could be disaster. That's how I feel right now. But was able to get in there feeling good. I think I have to get a pedicure too. I haven't gotten a pedicure in a while.
Ria
I wasn't able to secure a nail appointment. So nobody make fun of me. They're grown out. But that's it. I'm owning it. And that's about that, you know.
Fran
You think you're gonna discuss your big toe.
Ria
I wasn't planning on it, so thanks for bringing it up. I don't know why.
Fran
It's just really bad.
Ria
I guess I have to now.
Fran
It's just really been on my mind.
Ria
I'm. Ha. It's not that interesting. I am having a problem with my. With the toe. With the nail on my big toe.
Fran
I just feel like there may be. There's plenty of other people who've had to deal with this.
Ria
Yeah. But I don't want the insights of.
Fran
Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
Ria
You know what I mean? Oh, no, my toe fell off. You know, like, that's what happens when you reveal something like that. Then you get the messages. I don't want to scare you, but my toe, My actual. My foot ended up coming off, you know, and that's where I feel like we're at. My big toe, I got a problem with it.
Fran
The nail comes off.
Ria
Stubbed my toe, the nail broke, it came off. It's grown back. I put a fake nail on, the fake nail falls off. It's a whole song and dance. I gotta see a podiatrist.
Ashley Hesseltine
Really?
Ria
At the end of the day, I gotta book a podiatrist appointment. Here's the thing. Who has the time for the doctor's appointment? Sometimes, you know, gotta get to a foot doctor. On top of that, I've been dealing with a massive muscle strain for the past. Longer than a couple of weeks. It's actually been ongoing for maybe two months now. A little Less than two months in my side, left rib cage. It's definitely a muscle strain. Been nursing it. Although it seems to keep coming back so that, you know, I'm an athlete.
Fran
That's what happens. It's so true. Sometimes it does feel like the priority, Dr. Wise, is literally head to toe. It's like when something's wrong in this, you gotta get. You're like, I gotta go right away.
Ria
Put me in one of those pernuvo scans and just scan the whole thing.
Fran
You gotta go, like, right away. You're like, oh, I can't. Like sinus, nasal, or headache, anything. You're like, I gotta see someone when it goes down, like a muscle thing, like you have it kind of in your core.
Ashley Hesseltine
Well, that.
Ria
This has been a. It's actually like becoming a problem. Cause it's not going away. Yeah. And my trainer was like, okay, I'm gonna really need you to see a doctor. Because this is now for a long time. And you keep working out and we can keep doing that, but we gotta, you know, certain exercises they can't do. Cause it really hurts. And then some days it doesn't hurt. So I gotta get that appointment going and there's just no time. There's just no time, you know, so I've kind of put that to the side. But I think next week when we're home from this trip, that I might have to hit up a couple doctors.
Fran
Right. I actually really do need to as well. I haven't seen any doctors in a while.
Ria
Yeah, it's like I got a whole
Fran
list of them I gotta go to. You just. And I haven't been to any of them.
Ria
I keep seeing tech talks where it's like girls night, except we go to the doctor and they give us exactly every single piece of blood work scan that we've ever wanted.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
You know,
Fran
it's just not discussed enough that you just have to go to so many different doctors for all the different things.
Ria
They can't, can't. They just can't wander to it all.
Fran
And even when you do, like, you know, you go to your general, you know, and they're like, well, you're gonna have to see a specialist.
Noah
You don't want one.
Ria
Damn it.
Noah
Because it's like you don't go to a pizza place and ask for sushi, you know?
Fran
No, you're right. You're actually right.
Ria
It's like an ongoing joke about my toe now with me and Matt and the other day, my fake nail. Now that you bring it up, I'm Obviously gonna give the details, but my fake nail fell off. And all of a sudden, like, I looked down at my toe in the shower, and there was no nail. And I screamed, and he. And he ran in. He was like, what's happening? I said, my toe. My toe.
Fran
Did they make fake nails for toes?
Ria
Like acrylic nails? They put them on your toe. It's like just what they put on your finger but for your toes.
Fran
Oh, you did it at the salon?
Listener Caller
Yes.
Fran
Oh.
Ria
I didn't just put a fake toenail. The whole time.
Fran
I thought you just put, like, a nail on your.
Ria
I went to the salon, they put an acrylic on my toe, and I was.
Fran
Oh, my God. I really thought. This whole time, I was envisioning you just putting on, like, a press on.
Ria
No, no, no, no, no.
Fran
Nail onto your toe.
Ria
I went to the salon first, and I was in the shower. I looked down. I said, ah. And then Matt ran, and he said, what happened? I said, my toe, it's gone. And we were cracking up. I was like, I don't even know
Fran
where it could be at what point.
Ria
And then later on that night, I just. You just saw down my toenail in
Fran
the corner of your eye in the
Ashley Hesseltine
middle of the floor.
Ria
I picked it up. We were dying, laughing. And then I put it, like, on the counter. And he was like, so we're just gonna keep it, or are we gonna throw this out?
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah, yeah.
Ria
I was like, he's like, I'm not judging either way, but I gotta know if I accidentally throw this toenail at. I was like, we can part ways with it. We can. We can now throw it out that we found it. I just had no idea where it even went. Like, I looked down. My toenail was gone. I was like, I don't even know possibly could have gone. I didn't feel it come off, so. Right.
Fran
It can be a good sign that an acrylic just, like, popped off. It just popped off.
Ria
Like, I have a dead toenail going on. I don't know. It doesn't look that bad. I will say, like, it doesn't look like. Ooh. Like, you wouldn't be grossed out if you saw it.
Fran
Oh, you're wearing flats. I'm gonna make you take your. I'm gonna make you take your shoes off. Not right now, but after.
Ria
I'm not gonna show it for the camera. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what's going on.
Fran
I'm not. It's really not bad at all.
Ria
No, it's not.
Fran
You would never know it just looks like your nail.
Ria
I know, but you can't even paint, like.
Fran
Yeah, wait, I don't know.
Ria
Like it's a nail, but it's not a nail. This is terrible podcasting. People can't even feel my toe. Feel it, feel it. I know, but it won't grow past that point. You know what I mean? It hit a dead spot. It won't grow past that point.
Fran
Yeah, I know what you're saying.
Ria
So you have to put a fake nail on top, but the fake nail pops off because it's like a dead
Ashley Hesseltine
nail or whatever it is.
Ria
I don't even know. I don't know. I gotta see somebody.
Fran
No, I know. Yeah, yeah.
Ria
Finding my rogue.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Dying, laughing.
Fran
I was looking at my thumbs last. I was like, I got to go. Because this one is like taking on a life of its own. It's like veering to the right.
Ria
Oh, yeah.
Fran
You know, it's like.
Ria
Yeah, it looks like it's hanging to the left a little bit.
Fran
Yeah, yeah. And it's just like, so much bigger than the other one. Yeah. And I've been able to ride out for, like, the month that I've had these nails, but now it's like.
Ria
Right. I just want no fucking judgment about my nails or my toe for this weekend because we're going to be in warm water.
Fran
I don't find your.
Ria
You don't find these to be offensive right now?
Fran
No, I'm not offended by them.
Ria
Okay, cool. Because they're growing out and I just don't want anyone to be too super disgusted.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, they're not.
Ria
And they're not bad at all. Please just allow my big toe to have its time because it's gone. It's gone.
Fran
Maybe it needs some sunscreen. That's what I think.
Ria
Because I've been covering it. And then when I don't have a nail on it, I cover it with a band aid. And I think that maybe it just needs to.
Fran
It needs some good old fashioned air and vitamin D. Yeah.
Ria
I think it needs to breathe. It needs no fake nail on it. It needs some sunshine. And if that doesn't work, then I'll hit up a doctor and ask the podiatrist if he can fix my muscle strain as well. And please do not message me that my rib is broken. It's not.
Fran
Yeah, I know.
Ria
It's not that much, so. And because it does not hurt 24 7, it's only twisting motions and all that. I know it's a strain. I know it's a strain. So we'll nurse it and you know. Yeah, that's that.
Fran
Well, we're headed into that really like the. Just the nail nails a high priority for us as we're heading into the rest of the the weekend. Abercrombie has the best active brand. Your personal best. They have new active dresses and sets that are a breath of fresh air because they're perfect for sunny workouts and weekend catch ups. They just dropped a bunch of new active activewear dresses that are so cute. I have a few of them at home now. I can't wait to wear them in the summer months because they are perfect for out and about running errands. But you still want to look cute and stylish and they have such fun, different patterns. So I'm so excited to wear those this summer. So shop YPB by Abercrombie in the app online and in stores. I was at the Robin Hood Charity gala, the big, big event that they do at the Javits Center. So many people. It's just like one of those rooms where just like some of the richest people are in this room. Like the whole speech from Mark Bezos. Didn't even realize there was a Mark Bezos.
Ria
I was gonna say is that Mark Cuban and Jeff Bezos combined. You get Mark Bezos.
Fran
Yeah, a little, Little known. Yeah. You kind of forget when like there's so many people out there that are just such titans. Like you hear, you hear Jeff Bezos and then you're like, well, he's got a brother. You're like, oh, does he? What's his family life like?
Ria
You know? So does Jeff give him a lot of money?
Fran
I think Mark also has a lot of money on it from his own ventures.
Ria
Gotcha.
Fran
But it's like no matter how much money Mark has, it's not Jeff.
Ria
No.
Fran
You know, but still, still plenty. Marcus, dare I say a little bit like of a sexier version of Jeff. Of Jeff. I mean, not that Jeff is.
Ria
I was going to say there's like,
Fran
like I'M not saying that Jeff is actually Mark is sexier. I'm saying, like.
Ria
Are you trying to say that Mark Bezos is hot?
Fran
Mark Bezos has a. Had like a. Like, if you were to like glam up Jeff a little bit, you get
Noah
Mark Bezos looks like he, he could like win a. Win in a fight, you know, like, he's more of a tough.
Fran
The half brother of Jeff Bezos. Oh, he went to space with him.
Noah
Oh, what family bonding.
Fran
Uh huh.
Ria
Oh, what family.
Fran
He started his own. His own stuff. His own foundation. He was the head of communications at the Robin hood Foundation from 2006 to 2016 and now he's the director of the Bezos family Foundation. Well, he went on stage or as a bet, he was dressed as a hot dog. Made me think of Bridget dressing up as a hot dog. But they, they always have. They always bring in like a plus entertainment for the evening. They had the Lumineers perform the. And then Pete Davidson came out and did like maybe like a 15 minute set. Was funny. He was joking, you know, very, very different crowd. He was like, this is maybe one of the weird, like weirdest sets I've had to do for this for a group of people going from the roast, getting on a plane and like ending up right here. A lot of, like, a lot of, A lot of suits in the room kind of, kind of feel. But he was very funny and like some of the jokes were hysterical and you could tell that like some were perhaps clutching their pearls for a second and then like a full concert from Pink.
Ria
That looked awesome.
Fran
She is incredible.
Ria
Love Pink.
Fran
Pink is just one of those people who is just top notch, always sounds amazing and she's one of those artists that. And it's funny because I know, I think she's like fully taking over Kelly Clarkson, but she has that Kelly Clarkson vibe of like can can sing anyone's song and it's fantastic.
Noah
1000, I think is like doing a. Gonna be like a full time talk show host.
Fran
I think Pink is. Well, at least for temporarily she's been.
Noah
I thought Kelly Clarkson was just like ending like and it was just gone. I didn't realize that like someone.
Fran
Well, I think someone has to. I think they have to fill the.
Noah
So it'll be like the space. The Pink show.
Ria
Yeah, I think they kind of always do it right. Yeah, it's like a revolving door.
Noah
I could see her being a. I
Ria
think she would be great. She has such an amazing voice. One Pink song that often plays in my brain, like probably the most When I'm in an airport or an airplane is I'm gonna start a fight, like. Because, like, people just, like, piss me off so much on. On planes and such that, like, in my brain, like, I just.
Noah
I'm just picturing you listening to the song, like, stuck in tsa.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
No, it's not even that. Like, one of my biggest gripes. Right. Currently is men. And I've talked about this. Men who make you climb over them.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
To go to the bathroom.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
There's nothing more rude to me than a man making you climb over them.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
To use the restroom on an airplane, it is so fucking rude.
Fran
Straddling their chair to go around them. Yeah.
Ria
That happened to us in Italy when we were flying from Florence to Sicily. I was in. Matt and I were in the middle of a window.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And then a man next to us in the aisle, and I had to get up to use the bathroom, and the guy in the aisle had already gotten up to go to the bathroom, so I thought, oh, perfect chance. I won't make him stand up again. He'll just wait until I get back. He sits back down. I come back from the bathroom, he won't get out of his chair, and I'm staring at him. He won't get up. So Matt. Literally.
Fran
Even worse was when you were coming back from the bathroom.
Ria
When I was coming back from the bathroom. And so Matt was in the window and put his hands in my front and behind so that I could.
Ashley Hesseltine
It's a.
Ria
It was a small plane.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And he literally guided me through to, like, block my ass and Vijay from this guy because the guy wouldn't get up. And. And he sees that my husband is doing this to shield me from this guy because he won't move.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
It was like, how rude can you be that you see what's going on here? You see, my husband's going out of the way to shield my ass from you because you're so rude that you can't get up that you're still not going. Oh, wait, let me get up for her. Yeah.
Fran
That is crazy.
Ria
So that's when Pink starts to play.
Fran
Did you yell scoozy in his face?
Ria
Uh, no.
Fran
I would've been, like, scousy.
Ria
Yeah. By the way, my dad did that too many times. Like, so many times. Throughout the airports, the train. Scusi. Scusi. I was like, oh, my God, please stop. But no, he. Like, this just pissed me off. I'm like, how rude can you be?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And I'm just staring at this guy and stone face like that.
Fran
No, no, no. And that's what plays in my head
Ria
because I gotta stop myself from being like, you're a fucking piece of dickhead, you motherfucking asshole.
Fran
Who makes you. Would have been the time for you to do it. Because he may perhaps wouldn't have understood what you said.
Ria
That's true. But he spoke English. Oh, yeah.
Fran
So never mind.
Ria
Heard him talk to somebody else on the plane. So, you know, I just let those feelings out now. I've been holding this in.
Fran
No, I think that's actually an extremely fair take. And there's no reason that you should be climbing over anybody to get out of this. Your seat.
Ria
Like, Matt's looking at the guy. Like, make it like making a face. Hello? Yeah, guys. Won't turn like this. Straight ahead. It's like, ew.
Fran
Ew. Do you have, like, headphones in or anything?
Ria
No.
Fran
It's so awkward. So awkward.
Ria
It's like, okay, now we have to. It's a short flight, but now we have to sit here. Yeah.
Fran
But now we're like, yeah, yeah.
Ria
Deal with this the whole rest of the flight. We got to be thinking about this.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
So yucky like that at all. So yucky.
Fran
So then you just throw a little. Little pink on.
Ria
And you throw a little pink on, you just get through it.
Fran
Just make it through. I. She did not sing Razor Glass, which really made me upset. I was waiting all night.
Noah
Propelling.
Fran
No, no, she's known for that.
Noah
So maybe the number one.
Fran
Make a joke about that. Y. Yeah, yeah.
Ria
Like, at Benson Boon flipping as to pink propelling.
Fran
Yes.
Noah
Do you think Benson Boone, like, in 10, 15 years, like, he's going to regret that this is his thing because, like, his joints aren't going to be the same, you know, like, when he.
Fran
Eventually he just won't be able to do it anymore.
Noah
And then, you know, then he'll propel like pink.
Fran
Yeah. Like, eventually you have to say, do something else.
Noah
This is. It's an old video, but Benson Boone covering All I Asked by Adele that came up on my Tik Tok the other day, took my breath away.
Fran
See, I'm have to start. So I'm going to start sending my videos to you now.
Noah
Like, I was like, is this better than the original?
Fran
All I ask you. Yeah, he sings. It's so good.
Noah
He sounded like a. Like, it looked like Adele, like, took over his body.
Fran
Like.
Ria
And then talk about Noah Kahn's album at all as a great.
Fran
Yeah, it's. I'm very much really good Very much enjoying it. Like, you know, he tweeted out that he has a hemorrhoid. And I thought, you just don't have to do that.
Ria
Oh, I didn't see that.
Fran
Yeah, it was like, maybe today.
Ria
That's okay. We don't need to know.
Fran
Well, but he said.
Noah
He said, now we're talking about Noah Khan. We didn't talk about his album. You hear about his hemorrhoid?
Fran
Yeah, I'm talking about his hemorrhoid. I mean, my God, he's. He brought it up. Brought it up.
Ria
He's got to get some Preparation H or something.
Fran
Number one album, and I still have hemis. At what point? Point is enough.
Ria
Enough, dude, how many hemorrhoids does he have?
Fran
He said hemis plural.
Ria
That's multiple.
Fran
Can you get multiple?
Noah
Did you.
Ria
Yeah, you can? Oh, no, I'm not saying I have had multiple. I have had one before. Yeah. Years ago. I remember during my grandma's funeral in 2015 at a hemorrhoid.
Fran
It sounds awful.
Ria
Yeah, it's not comfortable at all. It's not. But I remember specifically, I was like, ooh, I know this is about grandma right now, but this hemorrhoid is tough.
Fran
How do you get them?
Ria
I think maybe pushing too hard.
Fran
Right, right.
Ria
I think there's other factors.
Fran
Well, we used to always say to my dad that he. Because he would, like. My dad would be in. Sit on the toilet for, like, hours.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
They, like, you'd be like, is he still in the bathroom?
Ashley Hesseltine
And we would.
Fran
And then I was like, is that really what the cause of it is?
Ria
I think pushing too hard can be a factor.
Noah
But talk about the. Like, what are the symptoms?
Fran
Oh, it's pain.
Ria
You'll know.
Fran
Very painful.
Noah
You'll know, like, while you're. Only While you're going. Or like.
Ria
No, you'll know because it could be really itchy.
Fran
I feel like I've had flames.
Ria
So if you're.
Noah
But I feel like I've had them
Ria
now, now that I'm describing it. And I was like, fuck, I think that one right now.
Noah
No, like, I'm like, I just. I don't know.
Ria
Like, if your butthole is, like, really itchy. I mean, you could see it like, if you took a mirror to your.
Noah
I don't do that.
Fran
Discomfort, itching and sometimes bleeding.
Ria
Yeah, bleeding is a sign because. Because you could have an inner hemorrhoid, or you can have one that pops out. You can have an Audi in any.
Fran
Or an Audi.
Ria
Sometimes they go, like, it out, depending on Going to the bat. I don't know. This is too much information.
Fran
Yeah, it is. Yeah. But anyway. But anyway. This sounds like Noah Cons do you
Ria
should go to the doctor.
Noah
Do you have to go to that? They just go away, don't they?
Ria
Preparation age will help it, you know.
Noah
Preparation Age.
Ria
Yeah, Preparation. Preparation hemorrhoids.
Fran
Specifically for hemorrhoids.
Noah
That sounds like an evil villains like.
Fran
Yeah, you get that right? In Walgreens you can get.
Ria
And it'll fix you right.
Noah
I see the Spotify what they released today. I did your all time songs like stats.
Ria
Really?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
I. I got.
Noah
It was like Christmas in July.
Ria
Like how do I see it? Oh, you're wrapped. Rediscover your.
Fran
Here's the thing. I didn't. I didn't like really.
Noah
List of all your most played.
Fran
Yeah, I didn't really start using. You were late to the game Spotify for a while. But here's the thing. I had Spotify so it's like, oh, you joined Spotify in 2017. But I really wasn't using Spotify till way later. And it was like the song, it told me that the song, the first song I ever played was literally a song that I've never heard of in my life.
Noah
My first song was Work by Missy Elliott and I was like, I don't remember. How was that the first song I played on Spotify?
Ria
My first song was Landslide, Fleetwood Mac, oh, All Apologies, Nirvana, Fat Bottom Girls, Queen, and then Enter Sadman, Metallica.
Fran
What's the winner?
Ria
Oh, pick one.
Fran
It tells you which one. Oh, which game you got to press? Which one you think is your actual first song ever played?
Ria
I'm going to guess Fat Bottom Girls Queen. Okay. No, wrong. My first song on Spotify was All Apologies, Nirvana.
Fran
Okay, there you go.
Noah
Who's your most listened to artists?
Ria
I haven't gotten there yet.
Noah
There's not that many things on this one.
Fran
It's just that those are really the two things.
Noah
What? Oh, it's
Fran
a Drake. Yeah, yeah, it's gotta be Drake.
Ria
It's the boy that's an inside joke. I really hope people don't think I just said that as like a real thing.
Fran
We're like the two most basic bitches in the world. Mine's Taylor Swift, so.
Ria
And mine's Drake.
Fran
Drake and Taylor Swift.
Ria
Oh,
Fran
Drake and Taylor Swift.
Ria
I'm not shocked.
Noah
What's your most? What's the most played? No, my most. My artist. Yeah, Nas.
Fran
Here's the thing.
Ria
That's a good one.
Fran
John Mayer.
Noah
John Mayer was nowhere to Be found on any of these stats.
Ria
Wow. I'm acting embarrassed as if I don't know that. I listen to Drake every day.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, right.
Noah
Everyone listens to Drake.
Ria
He's got fudgeing bangers. I don't know.
Fran
My first song must have been something that I like had to look up for work. It is. It's a random ass rap song that I've never heard of in my life by unnamed people that I don't even know the names of. These like, I don't even know who these people are.
Noah
John is on my all time songs.
Fran
I will say I can't find the thing now. It's like not coming up because I pressed it already.
Noah
Number one song.
Ria
How do I.
Noah
It gives you download the playlist that they give you and then they give you an order and tells.
Fran
Mine is now that we don't talk. Taylor's version.
Ria
Mine is 1989, my most played song of all time. How do I go to it? Go to the playlist.
Fran
It's like in the. In when you go through the thing, it says save songs or something and then it makes the whole playlist and
Noah
it tells you how many songs, how many times.
Fran
Oh, oh, here it is. Get in. Featuring Stunna for Vegas.
Ria
Not ringing a bell.
Fran
Sung by Callan. For real? For real. This is K A L A N period. That's the first. My first song ever streamed on Spotify. I don't know what happened there a
Noah
lot of Cowboy Carter on my playlist here.
Fran
Mine is honest and it's funny because I'm wearing a Gracie Abrams sweatshirt today. But mine is a lot of Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams. I listened to that Gracie Abrams album a lot.
Ria
I'm trying to find this, but it's
Fran
a lot of tt. Ttpd Interesting. Yeah, really interesting for me.
Ria
I feel like you like didn't talk about listening to that album a lot. I know, but love it when it first came out.
Fran
Who's afraid of little Me? Florida. Guilty as sin. I can fix them. No, I really can't. Are all in like my top 10.
Ria
Oh, I'm saving it to library now.
Noah
Euphoria is like in my top 20.
Ria
That's gonna. I know that's gonna be in mine because I really do listen to that. I listened to that this morning and is it go in order?
Fran
Yeah, yeah. It'll say it, right? It'll say the amount of listens underneath straight.
Ria
It's way too sexy. Drake Future. Wow. Yeah. That song was on repeat for a while.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
But I got. It's not like my favorite song ever. I will say there was a period of time where that was. That was up.
Ashley Hesseltine
That was it.
Ria
Band for band. Central Seas kind of got a lot of listens.
Fran
I like that song.
Noah
You put a Drake Central C song on your playlist today.
Ria
So. I did. I did do that. Oh, wow.
Fran
All right. Yeah. So no. Account's got hemorrhoids happier than ever.
Ria
Billie Eilish is way up there as well.
Fran
That's a great song.
Ria
That's one of my favorites. Yeah.
Fran
But the hemorrhoids with the album is great.
Ria
Yeah. Sorry for his.
Fran
Sorry that you're dealing with that. But at least we do have that number one album.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
And people out. People are loving it.
Ria
Matt and I were talking about trying to go to Citi Field for Noah Khan, which would be out of my concert.
Fran
Yeah, that's something very different.
Ria
Very different for you both.
Fran
Really.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Noah
Concerts are the best.
Ria
Because we don't go to a lot of concerts. And I'm someone who know, like, I don't. I'm not obsessed with concerts in the way that you guys are. I have to, like, really love the person. And even still, I'm really not excited until, like, I get there. You know what I mean?
Noah
Citi Field. It's like an experience.
Ria
Exactly. Noah Khan at Citi Field.
Noah
I was like, hot dogs.
Ria
We were like, that actually be so nice and romantic. Some hot dogs.
Noah
Can I tag along?
Fran
I saw the Jones. No. Me and you will go.
Noah
Yeah, why don't we all just go to Citi Field?
Fran
Okay. I want to go. Be down to go.
Ria
All right, maybe we'll go.
Fran
My brother was talking about trying to go to Fenway because my brother will
Ria
be up in March, so nice. Romantic.
Fran
Oh, yeah. Wait, you don't want us all to come?
Noah
Noah Khan is, like, so friendly with a lot of people who work here.
Fran
Yeah, I really did think that. I was also like, should we just ask Trent to ask?
Noah
I said, I can't ask her for any more favor. After he got. He got Noah to watch my. First of all, he FaceTimed him at our show. And then he got him to watch Ray Marty playing.
Ria
Well, I would love to go to his show in City Field. I think that would be a lot of fun, guys.
Fran
It would be so cool.
Ashley Hesseltine
Let's see.
Fran
What's the date action?
Ria
That'd be a lot of fun. It's in July around.
Fran
We're not here.
Ria
What a.
Fran
It's. It's the weekend. We're all. We're all away. Like, the July 18th and 19th.
Noah
Oh, I'll be here.
Ria
Oh, when I. No, no, you're with. On a trip, dude. We got a house together. Oh, no. But the 19th we'll be back.
Fran
Yeah, but there's no way we're. We're gonna do a whole weekend and then come back and go to Noah Con and Citi Field in Queens. No shot.
Noah
Be awesome. Little cap.
Ria
Yeah. To cap the weekend, we are all getting a house together and then we come back and we go to.
Noah
Wait, that's on a what day? Sunday.
Ria
Sunday. It sounds.
Noah
That would be a nice.
Fran
Like, it would be nice, but the like sounds good in theory. Yeah.
Ria
Until we're exhausted and we say, why did we sign up to go to this concert?
Fran
Yeah. I just know you. There's no way.
Ria
You never know.
Fran
It's a long drive. Like it's doubting you.
Ria
I know we're not going that far. I don't like if we were. Doubt it.
Fran
If we were. If we were closer to home, I'd say absolutely.
Ria
Right.
Fran
But it's a. It's a little bit of a hike
Noah
where we're going Jersey Shore or something.
Ria
Right. Because I did do that once. I did go to Elton John after the Jersey Shore one weekend.
Fran
Yeah. If it was closer, I'd be abs. I'd say absolutely.
Noah
I still might go.
Fran
But we like, we could have. Depending on traffic, we have like a four or five hour drive I. On Sunday.
Ria
Oh my God. Okay. Wow. We're going to a totally new spot this year.
Fran
Yeah. So.
Ria
Well, we could talk about our plans offline.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Ria
Hey, at least we'll all be together anyway.
Fran
Maybe we venture to a different.
Ashley Hesseltine
A different city.
Fran
A different city, different. Different locations.
Ria
Yeah, I know.
Ashley Hesseltine
I agree.
Ria
I agree. All right. Anyways, let's get into the rest of today's show. We have Ashley Hesseltine on today's episode. So much fun talking about her special. And we're gonna do a little update. Sports Illustrated, Alex Earl on the COVID as well as multiple others. And she did an interview where she was asked about Alex Cooper. And we have the popcorn. So let's get into it. Before we get into the rest of today's episode, we need to talk about the thing that is keeping everyone's lives organized right now, and that is Microsoft 365 copilot. What if you could add an AI assistant to your work without having to leave your workflow built into Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook? Copilot works where you work, helping you do more in the apps you already use in Word Copilot helps turn scattered notes into a first draft. In Excel, it generates insights from your data. And in Outlook, it cuts to the noise to get you up to speed faster. The apps, you know, go further with Copilot. Learn more@m365copilot.com work. Sports Illustrated covers have been released. There's four cover models. We have Alex Earle, Hilary Duff, Tiffany Haddish, and Nicole Williams English, who is a model as well. All great covers. Everyone looks beautiful. No, duh. Everyone is looking so good. And, you know, this has been going on now with Sports Illustrated for a while. They put out multiple covers. Like, we're not just getting one cover anymore. It is multiple. 3, 4. Sometimes they do it all together. And all of these ladies look fantastic. On top of that, Alex Earl has been doing press. Now she's on the COVID of Sports Illustrated. She was asked about Alex Cooper, PR Answer for the Ages.
Fran
She. That was a master. It was a real masterclass in not answering the question because in that sense, it's just like, defer. She's basically asked about it by Craig on the Today show. And it was like, let's focus on. You know, I'm just trying to really focus on the positive. There's so much great stuff going on. Yeah, I only have. I only have so much time here with you today. Like, just really love to focus on the positive stuff. And then he was like, oh, well, okay. Does that, you know, well, is there any truth to it or is, like, exaggerated? She's like, yeah, it's exaggerated. I love everyone. And then, like, that was it. So she really just hits us with, I love everyone. Peace and love. Peace and love. I love everyone. And it's so fine. Because clearly she's not gonna address it in this situation. But going on the Today show, I'm sure they had some sort of agreement of, like, well, he's gonna ask.
Noah
I thought they would have definitely been like, you're not allowed to ask about this now here.
Fran
Yes and no. I think when you go on something like the Today show, it's almost like you have. It is gonna be.
Noah
I feel like. I don't know. I wouldn't have thought twice if they didn't bring it up. Like, on a. Like, she's promoting, like, no, it's all
Fran
anybody could fucking talk about. I mean, SNL sketch about it died
Noah
down a lot since, like, the start because people are like, oh, she's just not gonna say anything.
Fran
It absolutely has. But her doing. She hasn't been doing press. Like, her doing Press is like, we're just gonna assume no one's gonna ask her.
Ria
Well, I think that we've just assumed at this point now that she's not addressing it and it'll be addressed on her Netflix show. After Grutman was on a radio show talking about it and he was like, well, thank God, now we could talk about it on the Netflix show. It's really clear what's happening here. And I mean, listen, are we all gonna be just a little bit annoyed that that's the answer we got? Obviously. But that's because we're feeding for the drama and not even the drama. We want the answers, and we're not gonna get it probably until her Netflix show comes out. So that's that. That was the PR answer. And on top of that, we got Sports Illustrated. Like I said, everyone looks fantastic. Hilary Duff had such amazing pictures. They all did.
Fran
I mean, pumped to see her.
Ria
Pumped to see her. Here's my thing, though. When I see all of the rest of the pictures, I'm like, why was that one chosen as the COVID when there were so many other pictures where I was like, wow, like, genuinely took my breath away.
Fran
So I would have gone with her in red.
Ria
Right. Her in red was so gorgeous. There were a couple others.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Where she's laying on the sand, booty out, just fucking gorgeous. And obviously she looks stunning on the COVID But there were other pictures that I really think had, like a wow
Fran
factor, that I'm like, is that the COVID Safe choice. Yeah.
Ria
I just wonder what goes behind picking the COVID Does she have a say? Does she not have a say? Maybe that was her choice of picture. I don't know. But when you see the whole spread of everyone's pictures, you're just like, holy shit.
Fran
It probably just comes down to the editor.
Ria
Yeah. Sometimes it's not even the COVID that's like the wow one. Like, you see the other pictures where
Fran
you're like, oh, yeah.
Ria
Oh, my God, those are drop dead. So everyone looks fantastic. Per usual. Sports Illustrated swimsuit is always so exciting when it comes out. And you see, you know, people get so many great opportunities and have such amazing stories behind why they want to shoot the picture.
Fran
I do love that they get to bring in some of these unexpected people and whatnot. Or like, kind of like surprise celebrity covers that you don't see coming. Like, you know, Hilary Duff or Tiffany Haddish also looks amazing. So. And she's kind of been posting here there, like, on her Instagram. I think that's been a bit of journey for her. And then you see, like, these covers, and they're. They are fabulous. You get to see a lot of our. Our faves. Back for another. For another issue. Love. Always seeing what they. What they come up with and what they are showing off. I did see Xandra comment on the COVID post for Alex, and it was.
Ria
It.
Fran
Omg.
Noah
Yay.
Ria
It seems like those two are okay.
Fran
Yeah. Right?
Ria
She made amends.
Fran
Alex Earl's got bigger fish.
Ria
Yeah. Yes. She's got to handle Cooper.
Fran
No, no, I think they've been fine
Ashley Hesseltine
for a long time.
Ria
It's all the Alexes.
Fran
Yeah. Yeah.
Ria
You know.
Fran
Yeah. Xantra seems to have this new guy that's taken her to the farm life. Have you seen that?
Ria
I have seen that. Don't know who it is, but she seems to be adapting to a farm lifestyle.
Fran
I guess she's living life on the farm. And these really. These pictures are gorgeous. I hadn't seen. I remember watching a little bit of Wags, which Nicole Williams English was on Wags. And she is also absolutely gorgeous. Not shocking. She is a model as well. So they. They did a. They did a great job, I think, like, especially with Alex Earl. Something where the Sports Illustrated format can be kind of confusing because they're always releasing pictures, but then the pictures aren't the covers, but they're just announcing new models. But then when we get to the actual cover, there's four different covers. But then also, like, in the middle of the year, they do, like, a digital cover. And then that's something else. Like, Alex Earle had done the digital cover. Right. Like, she'd done a digital cover, but that was in this cover. But now she's the COVID now.
Ria
Right. Because when they first announced the digital cover, she was the COVID star of their first ever digital cover.
Fran
Yes.
Ria
But now.
Fran
Now she's the COVID cover.
Ria
She's the COVID cover, which is. Which is huge. So congratulations to all the ladies. They all look fantastic. Love seeing the pictures, as always. Yeah. And that's really all for the topics today. Besides, there's still summer house updates, but you guys all know that everyone's seen it, and we are one step closer to the finale and then the reunion, which will be exciting,
Fran
truly, is really in their game day mode right now. They have all the best game day vibes. It's just where we're at. They're the official hard seltzer of US Soccer, which honestly just makes sense. And they've got those packs that are perfect for watching with your friends. You can do the Star Squad Pack and the Wild Berry. So many good flavors, and it's just so easy. Brings everyone happiness. Maybe you're going to a watch party. You want to bring something with you. Grab something like the Truly Star Squad pack. The flavors are super refreshing, fruity, drinkable, delicious, and you're not getting that heavy feeling after a couple because it's only 100 calories and one gram of sugar. So you can actually hang, watch, chat, enjoy the whole day, and keep the good vibes rolling. And we love that there's so much variety because not everyone wants the same thing. So Truly always has options. Maybe this. Maybe you have one favorite flavor, but your friend has another or your spouse has another, and you want to make sure you. Everyone's getting something they enjoy. That's why it's so great that they have such good variety. It's kind of the ideal thing to show up to when you're watching a game or just hanging out. So grab a Truly Star Squad pack or Wild Berry pack for your next watch party and keep the vibes going.
Ria
All right, let's get into the popcorn. We're taking your hot takes, your voicemails, your opinions. Let's get into it. Noah, play the first voicemail.
Listener Caller
Hi, Rhea, Fran, Noah, and Olive. I'm Laura calling from Georgia, and I have a question for you ladies, because I believe this happened right before you all took your break, but Club Charlamagne made her official announcement about not moving forward as Club Chalamet anymore, and I really think she's going for Connor's story now fully. I know you kind of dissected it a little bit on the podcast, but I would love to hear your take now that it's, like, official and if this era is officially dead or if she's gonna turn it really into Connor Story Club. Love y'. All. Bye.
Ashley Hesseltine
She.
Fran
She officially signed off.
Ria
You know, I did send it. We were. It was.
Podcast Rapper
Right.
Noah
It was my description, but it was hilarious.
Fran
Was it on social?
Noah
Yeah, I can.
Fran
Oh, I see it.
Ria
I see it, I see it.
Fran
Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay. I remember now where she's, like, slowly. She's, like, slowly phasing out.
Ria
Yes. Listen, it's. You know what? But, like, this makes me believe that Club Chalamet was. Was a fraud and a fake, because you're gonna bow out at the time where Timothy needs you the most. Like, think about it.
Noah
Or is she like, I can't get. Get with this. Like, I. I don't agree with this. Like, maybe she's a big ballet fan. I don't know.
Fran
Don't worry. She also will be making sure there are updates related to Dune Part 3, which she is eager to watch. But after that, do you think she
Ria
fell out of love with it?
Noah
But once I don't fully believe in it anymore. I have to recenter my focus on things I believe in.
Ria
Oh. So I think it, I think honestly, it has a lot to do with Kylie Jenner.
Noah
Probably. Like, she's like, wow, so you're really. This is really it.
Ria
Yeah. Like, she says she's fallen out of love and. And she's like, oh, this is real. Like, you're really gonna be with her.
Fran
This fan community is not the same as it was four years ago. The notable shift was exactly 12 months ago and the clock started to tick, basically. So much has changed from what we all initially signed up for that it doesn't resemble what lured us here in the first place.
Noah
Place she said to deny the obvious is to be obtuse and bury your head in the sand. Yeah, this. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Damn.
Ria
She's kind of acting like Timothy Chalamet committed a murder here and.
Fran
Yeah. But she looks forward to supporting a wide variety of celebrities whose work she enjoys. So who knows?
Ria
I gotta be honest.
Fran
Who knows who could be next?
Ria
Timmy must be hyped.
Noah
Or do you think he's like, no,
Ria
like, I think Timmy must be like,
Noah
we did it.
Ria
This is like a weight off my.
Ashley Hesseltine
Oh.
Ria
This whole time he's been making, he's been making comments to get Club Chalamet is like, off his back. Timothy's been trying to get canceled so that Club Chalamet leaves him alone.
Noah
The pin post on Club Chalamet is of Connor's story.
Ashley Hesseltine
Wow.
Ria
I mean, she could become Club Connor,
Fran
I will say, but I don't know
Ria
if Connor's story is going to root for that.
Fran
I will say that she did post three photos from the Met gala and one of his after party looks on her personal Instagram.
Ria
From Timothy?
Fran
No, from Connor.
Ria
From Connor Story. He wasn't at the back.
Fran
No, no, no. Connor Story. Three. Three separate.
Ria
So she. She has fallen in love with somebody else.
Fran
Yeah. In case anyone is wondering, she's also happy for Zoe Kravitz. And hairstyles, they look good together. And I'm happy for Zoe Kravitz.
Ria
By the way, did you see that Zoe Kravitz commented on Lulu's page being like, this is tacky because they canceled High Fidelity and then they're gonna use those pictures to. No, I, I actually, people didn't Understand why she commented that. And I was like, whatever. It's because they fucking canceled the show. So she's like, this is fucking tacky to talk about me and my, you know, lover.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
When you canceled my show.
Fran
Yeah.
Noah
I still don't know how that show never came back.
Ria
I agree. I mean, that was. That was a good show.
Noah
Oh, yeah. RIP Club.
Ria
RIP all right, moving on.
Fran
She's got. She's got bigger fish to fry.
Ria
Yeah.
Listener Caller
Hi, chicks. I think it's so crazy that I feel like, given society as a whole, like, no one really cared about Harry Styles getting engaged. And, like, I don't even. I didn't move. Like, I'm not sad. Like, I'm not shocked. Like, nothing. And you'd think that Harry Styles first engagement would be, like, world stopping news, and just nobody moved and I moved. I don't know. There's just something in the air. Like, why do we care more about Summer House than Harris Hiles getting engaged? Well, because it's not something to think about.
Ria
I think that, like, the. The world loves salacious drama.
Ashley Hesseltine
Right?
Ria
And, like, Harry Styles and Zoe Kravitz getting engaged in the midst of everything that's going on with, like, hot gossip on the Internet, it's like, oh, my God, we're happy for them. It certainly moved for me.
Fran
I was.
Ria
I was hyped for Harry. I'm not ups. I'm not sad that, like, Harry's getting engaged. Maybe she's talking about people, like, being upset that he's getting.
Fran
No, I mean, I agree that I feel like it wasn't. Well, because maybe it wasn't blown up.
Ria
Maybe because people still don't, like, really feel like it was confirmed.
Noah
Let me piggyback on that with another voicemail.
Listener Caller
Oh, hey, Rhea, Fran, and Noah. I just wanted to get your thoughts on Harry Styles album now that you had some time to sit with it. I know there's a lot of people online saying that it's kind of fallen off or Harry's kind of falling off. I thought Gia made a TikTok about how this album was forgettable. Now that you've had time to sit with it, have your favorite songs changed? Are you still listening to the album as much as you thought you would? Where would you rank it among all of his albums? Just want to know your thoughts. I personally am still a huge fan of the album and listen to it almost every day, but I think I might be in the minority there. What do you guys think? Thanks.
Ria
Me too. I actually listen to this album all the Time. I've been listening to it a ton this week. My favorite songs have pretty much stayed the same. I. I will say that it hasn't moved much.
Fran
What did you think of the music video?
Ria
People fucking hated the music video. They, like, were like, why is he dancing like this? Was I like, oh, my God, I love this? I wasn't obsessed with it, but I did not like it.
Fran
I thought it was fun.
Ria
Like, I love this song. So when you add a music video to a song that you already love, you love the music video because you love the song.
Noah
I think the main critique I'm seeing online, where I'm seeing a lot of people saying, like, Harry's fallen off. But I don't know.
Ria
Like, well, this is what happens. He gets engaged in that, and people
Noah
get all the biggest critique I'm seeing with, like, the music video. And, like, kind of. I guess this whole rollout is that it doesn't seem authentic. Like, and he's trying to, like, just.
Ria
I think he's being who he wants to be.
Noah
Yeah.
Ria
I mean, that was. I think he's talked about that, like, he's doing what he wants to be doing. Like, this is. No one's forcing him to do this. Like, he's. This is what he wants.
Noah
Not forcing, but I think people are saying, like, he's doing this because he thinks this. This is what will.
Ria
Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, play.
Noah
But I don't really agree with that.
Ria
I'm just.
Fran
I. Yeah, I've seen that as well. That this.
Ria
If.
Fran
That this sort of Harry Styles era is like. Like a little force. I don't know. But I don't. I don't really necessarily see that either. I think there were some moments in the music video that. With, like, certain choreography that I thought it was a little.
Noah
A lot of people are saying reheating Troye Sivant's nachos.
Ria
I'm saying what.
Noah
I. I didn't even know about this, but when you see the video, you are like, oh, yeah. Like, I could see why people would say that. Like, I guess one of his music videos is very similar to this video.
Fran
So.
Ria
Music video wise, but not, like.
Noah
Yeah, I think, like.
Ria
I think, like, I think once he goes on, starts going on tour, people. The tide's gonna change. People are gonna see the concert videos. They're gonna fall back in love with him. They're gonna want to see him in concert. And, like, it's just gonna go back around.
Fran
I will say that when Gia posted that video, being like, you know, I haven't like gone back and listened to the album that much. It did. There was a part of me that was like, damn, I haven't. I haven't really either. Like. Like that kind of made me realize when I went back, I was like, oh, I haven't really gone back as much. But then when I thought about, I was like, oh. And then I did go back and I was listening to it more again too. I don't know. Sometimes it's like when the timing of an album comes out and there's other things. And I know G had mentioned Noah Khan as well, which is. Is true. Like, then there was another album that you're listening to a lot and I've been listening to that. But they had an album a lot.
Ria
So far apart from each other.
Fran
I know they. They did, they did. But it's like a lot of that middle time, I wasn't going back to it as much as maybe previous Harry albums, but not in like, I don't like it way, you know, like it's. It's. I also. I don't know my music. Listening ebbs and flows. Like one month I will listen to a lot of music and then for another month, like, I won't listen to literally, like, I'll listen to nothing.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like it'll be.
Noah
I still like the album, but I think it's my bottom out of his albums. Like his four albums.
Ria
I would rank it as three for me now it has moved. It's Fine Line, his debut album and then this one for me.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Ria
I'm not sure because I've gone back a ton to listen to his first as well now.
Noah
Right.
Ria
I've been on a Harry listening kick, I'm not gonna lie. So I. So these. So these voicemails don't relate to me.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Noah
I know I am like. I don't know why, but I've found myself on like Harry.
Fran
No, it's.
Ashley Hesseltine
It's Twitter.
Fran
It's the. The fandom has really been going in on him hard. Yeah, it seems like. And I'm not.
Ria
I will say it helps not having Twitter.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
I like sometimes these things don't reach me.
Fran
Yeah, I've been seeing it a lot. I've been seeing on Tick Tock a little bit too. But yeah, it's not. You don't know. I think maybe because he hasn't been touring in a while too. We haven't seen how he would toward these songs and what this show is gonna be.
Ria
Find out. We're going to the show.
Fran
Yeah, I Do I know? And I do think you're right.
Noah
Sold her ticket.
Fran
Yeah, I do think you're. No, please. I do think you're right. With, like, them not having just publicly been like, we're engaged. That. That made the conversation around it a little quieter. Like, there was no big pandemonium. Like, oh, my God, Harry Styles is engaged.
Noah
How long did it take for Bieber, Haley Speculation to turn into them being like, yeah, we're engaged. That ever.
Ria
Well, no, it was like.
Fran
Well, there was like.
Ria
It was like they were being followed together.
Fran
Like. Yeah.
Ria
And then they got married, like, right after that.
Fran
So that was fast. That was. I mean, that there was just way more drama around that, too. That it was so much more dramatic. Here's the thing with his personal life, like, there's. There's. From what we see, it's not a lot of drama. Like, we know that there's girlfriends around and, like, maybe there's a song, but it's not, like, detailed drama lyrics or anything. Or we get full breakdowns of what happened with certain exes or all these things. So when you see him, like, starting to date someone, you're like, oh, that's nice. And he's like, oh, he's getting married. Oh, that's nice.
Ria
Right?
Fran
You're like, all right.
Ria

Ria
We are here with a very special guest. We are joined by Ashley Hesseltine, here to talk about her new comedy special, Here Comes the Bride. It's out now on YouTube. You could also watch on Amazon Prime. How are we doing? Welcome back. We just saw you on tour.
Ashley Hesseltine
It was so fun.
Ria
It was so much fun. And I feel like it's been a while since you've been on the podcast.
Ashley Hesseltine
Years. Like, you guys were in another room. There wasn't a dog.
Ria
Maybe like a whole other office.
Ashley Hesseltine
Actually, you guys might have not been married.
Ria
Definitely not. Definitely not.
Ashley Hesseltine
None of us were married.
Ria
No.
Noah
No.
Ria
Look at us now.
Fran
We were single. We were single. Single in a closet. Yes.
Ria
That's so funny. Try. We're reading yesteryear right now.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And you are. I saw you post on your story.
Fran
How far are you guys exactly? Halfway.
Ria
Because we.
Fran
We split our book club into, like, two episodes a month, so we do like a halfway in the beginning and then. And then the second half. So we are actually recording later.
Ria
So it's. It's fresh on the brain right now.
Ashley Hesseltine
It's.
Fran
It's nutty.
Ria
It is.
Ashley Hesseltine
It's so dark. Yeah, it's, like, heavy. Like, I'll find myself, like. I don't feel good right now reading this. Like, no, it's basically, I sat next to this guy in the plane, and at the end of the flight getting here, he goes, you read a lot of that book. And he clocked in. He was like, are you almost done?
Fran
I love when, like, people do that to you. Like, straight. They're like, wow. Or even if you just are reading one page, like, to start a conversation, someone be like, so do you love to read?
Ashley Hesseltine
No, I wasn't reading or anything. I wasn't busy reading. Do you guys know they're making. Sorry to interrupt. No, I'm so sorry.
Ria
You're the guest.
Ashley Hesseltine
Please do you know they're making into a movie? Yes, yes. We just saw that with Dan Hathaway. Way she's in everything.
Fran
Yeah. I think she kind of cornered the market on, like. On, like, crazy book Women.
Ashley Hesseltine
Every idea of you. Verity. Silent patient now it's fine.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
This is not shade, but it's fine.
Ria
But I. I didn't really.
Fran
Was she cast the silent patient?
Ashley Hesseltine
Yes.
Ria
Oh, really? Okay. She's an effort that doesn't make sense to me to do Verity and the Silent Patient.
Ashley Hesseltine
That's what I'm saying.
Ria
That, to me, is too close. That's what I'm saying. I also, reading Yesteryear would not picture Natalie to be Anne Hathaway, I guess.
Fran
No, I wouldn't have. I wouldn't have pictured.
Ria
Right. I mean, I don't know who I was picturing. Here's my Smith.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, right.
Ashley Hesseltine
Everything.
Fran
Here's my issue. And I have did because we, like, well, Cat, after we finish the book, we try and do, like, a fan casting or whatnot. And anytime there's, like, a woman that maybe has a little bit of, like, a creepy element to her, I'm like, Rosamund pike.
Ria
Like.
Fran
And it's just because of Gone, Gone Girl.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like, it's so true.
Fran
But every time I'm like. I'm like, this Rosamund Pike.
Ria
That's a really good one for that is. I did have to take a couple breaks while reading, though, the first half of this because I felt the same way. I was like, ooh, I don't know.
Ashley Hesseltine
I'm like, it's a interesting read. It's not feel good.
Ria
No, but it is very interesting, I will say. And it kind of hooks you right away. I thought immediately, I thought the very beginning gets you right in. But let's talk about you. Let's talk about your special. We haven't seen you since everything. I have not seen you since Seattle. But we have watched, which was kind
Fran
of a fever dream, especially that dinner.
Ria
We never talked about that dinner.
Ashley Hesseltine
Moving three times. Tables three times.
Fran
Moving tables three times.
Ashley Hesseltine
We went to dinner.
Fran
We were, like, half asleep.
Ria
To give background. We went to dinner in Seattle after our show, and like Fran said, we were half asleep, and it felt like the restaurant was in on a joke and a prank towards us that we were not in on. They made us move tables three different times. We were at a battle with another table from across the room.
Ashley Hesseltine
They stole our table.
Ria
They stole our table.
Ashley Hesseltine
They.
Ria
Honestly, it was really good. Remember, they were like, we're gonna send over, like, some buttery appetizers.
Fran
Yeah, yeah. And, well, our waitress, the way this
Ria
was putting on a comedy show, she was. She knew. I think she knew Ashley was a comedian. Was like, I'm gonna audition for her right now. Like, this is la.
Ashley Hesseltine
I think she was just like a Seattle person. I think she said cool beans a couple times.
Fran
Like, remember that?
Ashley Hesseltine
I was just. Yeah, whatever you want to say.
Ria
I remember at one point during the dinner, though, I was like, I have to get home. Like I was doing.
Ashley Hesseltine
No, you're fine. I thought you might.
Ria
I'm going to fall asleep in your martini into the martini into the pasta. Like, holding on tight to stay awake
Ashley Hesseltine
when she was trying to tell you about pasta. And you're like, I'm good. I get it. I know my pasta.
Ria
I'm Italian. Okay.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Fran
That was a funny dinner, right? And the whole front. We, like, walk in through a certain door, and we never been to this place before, and we're not from Seattle. And we're, like, looking at this from. The room's empty. And the guy's like, it'll be. You know, it'll be 10 minutes for your table. And we're looking at this empty room. Like, what do you.
Ashley Hesseltine
What do you mean? And then they sat, and I was like, you guys, I think there's a whole nother area of the restaurant, and I'm gonna go scope it out.
Ria
You were the embeddamn.
Ashley Hesseltine
We moved to the other table I loved. I'm there. I'm paying a lot of money to dine. I want to vibe.
Ria
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
I don't want to sit in the overflow room.
Fran
And then they kept telling us we had to be. We had to be in the window despite it being dark and raining and couldn't see.
Ria
See anything anyway. Like, it feels like you're on a boat.
Fran
Yeah. Like, it's like the. For the view. It's like.
Ria
It's like 10:30pm like, and we really milked it, though. We were like, yeah, this view is just superb.
Fran
That third table really was where the place.
Ria
We had a great time, though, and thank you so much. Yeah, we did. But then we got a private jet. And I will say this. I was a little upset for you that your flight didn't get fully canceled because you would have been on the jet with us, because you would have just went. I would have had.
Fran
Right? Yeah. I felt like, come to San Diego then.
Ria
You can figure it out. I felt envious that your flight took off until we got the private jet. And I thought, ooh, Ashley could have been on this.
Ashley Hesseltine
You guys really worked it out. I was so happy for you.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Thank you. But it was a great time.
Ria
We had so much fun. We had so much fun. How are you feeling now that the special's out? We watched it. So funny.
Ashley Hesseltine
So funny.
Ria
I sent this to you last night that I literally started taking notes on the special because I was cracking up. But the first one I wrote was. Was put crystals up My pussy. And then, like, then I knew I was in because I started hysterical laughing at that. And I just thought it was so spot on for like, what people think about la and you've been living there. So, like, take us through that because it's like, on the outside looking in, like, is that really what's going on?
Ashley Hesseltine
We all. I have a crystal in my right now. Yeah. Just for good vibes. I don't podcast.
Fran
Care to show us a whole different type of Kegel these times? You know, they do that.
Ashley Hesseltine
Okay. Real talk, though. I've never done, like, what are they, like a yoni egg or something?
Fran
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.
Ashley Hesseltine
I've actually never.
Fran
Yeah, yeah. So, yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
So the special is really my journey, which I actually say non ironically somehow. I literally, like, I used to jokingly say the word journey and I actually say it.
Ria
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Of can, like, meeting my now husband and dating him, moving in together and then getting married. And it is all true. Like, I moved to LA the beginning of 2023 and I was like, I am turning 40 this year. I want to find a partner. Like, I'm. I'm gonna manifest it. I joke about this in the special, but truly, like, I believe in that to an extent. Say it out loud. Live your life in a way that you want to bring it into your life.
Fran
Totally. We do it on the show all the time. When there's something we want where we look dead in the camera, we're like, like, make this a clip.
Ria
And has worked multiple times.
Ashley Hesseltine
Seriously. Even a friend of mine who. She's a tarot reader and she actually has, like, predicted most of my life. She was like, you should physically make space in your life. Like, get a king bed. Which I thought I'd only had a queen when I lived here in New York. I moved to LA randomly. I live in a different house now, but the first house I lived in was, like, really small. I was like, I will stuff a king bed in this bedroom if I. If it kills me.
Fran
Yep.
Ashley Hesseltine
Truly, like, little things like that I think matter. So I dated a bunch in la. That's what I talk about in the special. Like, the guys I dated just really all the stereotypes you can imagine. And then again, like, the manifesting and all the things, making space, holding space, like, doing all the things.
Fran
And I also like doing the king bed because it's like, your husband is quite tall, so it's like the king bed is just inviting the space for a large.
Ashley Hesseltine
We need the space. Yeah, literally. Yes, he is. He. So what a queen. When we were dating, when we were long distance, he had a queen in Boston. And I was like, I can't. We can't.
Fran
Oh, my God.
Ashley Hesseltine
You're a king.
Fran
I yell at some of my husband's friends, like, his few single friends that are left in, like, I bet. Because I've been like, guys, like, what?
Ria
Right.
Fran
One of his friends has a full bed.
Ria
Oh.
Fran
And I said, you can't possibly live your life with a full bed.
Ashley Hesseltine
When I see a full. It looks like a twin.
Fran
No. And once sleeping a king. Everything might as well be a twin.
Ria
I will say, though, yeah. Going to a guy's house and he has a king for the first time. It's slutty. Oh, my God. You're like, that's really slutty.
Ashley Hesseltine
No, like, how rich are you?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Like, you have a king.
Ashley Hesseltine
You made it. Because you don't have to, you know,
Fran
like, you're a dude.
Ashley Hesseltine
I don't know. So they made a choice.
Fran
Full was just out of control. I say full is out of control.
Ria
It has to be at least McQueen Queen.
Ashley Hesseltine
That's your childhood bed.
Fran
Like, exactly.
Ashley Hesseltine
Those are for kids.
Fran
Exactly.
Ria
Absolutely. Absolutely. So you get the king bed.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yes, get the king bed. And we. I again dated in la and it was just, like, not really working for me again. I have to go through this all in the special. And then we went out on tour and he. I had known him before. It's a, like, long story. He had, like, a crush on me before. And, like, I was kind of like, he's like, you know, one of his, like, hall passes, whatever. And we had met at a show years prior. It's like a whole long story. Whatever. But I, like, know, know him. But I'd met him. I knew he was tall and hot. And so when we go out on this tour In May of 2023, we did, like, all our big theater shows and I had just gotten off the pill and was so horny. That's how that works. That's a real fucked thing for women that. It's just like, you're not protected against pregnancy, but you're hornier than ever. I was just horny. And I was like, I'm trying to find a husband and I'm just going to meet dudes on the road. And so that's really what I did. I hooked up with a guy the very first tour stop that was like, 23. And I was like, I can't believe he wasn't born in the 1900s. And then I connected with Shashank, my Now husband in Boston. And we. He came to the show, met up afterwards, and I basically just DM'd him, like, are you still single? You still are in love with me? You know, what's up? And he came, and the rest is history. We were together ever since.
Ria
That. That's amazing. And I love that he was a fan.
Ashley Hesseltine
That's. I can't recommend it enough. Taylor Swift did it, right? Marry your biggest fan. Like, it really is nice. Yeah.
Ria
Like, he's a huge fan of you.
Ashley Hesseltine
He respects you, and he also gets what we do.
Ria
Exactly.
Fran
Like, there's no adjusting of, like, having to introduce him to your material or what a show is like. Because he's already been there 100%.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like, he can never. He loves what I do when he's totally secure and he gets it. But even if he wasn't, like, I'd be like, you knew.
Ria
Yeah, right. You can't say shit exactly. Like, you were a fan of me. Oh, now you're gonna switch.
Fran
I put it all out there, so you should know everything about me already.
Ria
I love that. And you talked so highly of him, which I love. You know, never taking out the trash. I'm with you. Never. Never. I didn't.
Ashley Hesseltine
If you live with a man, that's the man job.
Ria
That's a man. He takes out the trash. Like you said, all the feminism goes out the window. You're taking out the trash.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like, he saw there's someone in our. That, like, one of our neighbors. He saw, like, the woman taking out the trash. And I was like, all right, we're just gonna give him the benefit of the doubt that our husband's out of town. Like, he's out of town.
Ria
Yes. Oh, my God. That is.
Fran
That is so true. I just. I did, like, a huge apartment clean over the weekend. Like, I had to trash, you know, the winter clothes back in storage and the whole thing. And I just was doing so much. But the one thing was just, like, in the corner were all the bags of trash. Cause it's like. Well, that's.
Ria
Yeah, it's your husband's job as a Joe.
Fran
Well, you will take the trash. You will take all the trash out.
Ria
Yeah, I got it. I don't open packages unless my husband's home. Cause I'm like, these boxes. Not my problem.
Fran
These boxes are not gonna break
Ashley Hesseltine
down, you guys. I don't think Shashank really knew what he was signed up for with the boxes. So, like, last year of, like, the tour, I was touring and planning a wedding. Like, outfits just so Much. Revolve so much. All the things. Like, so returning boxes. That.
Ria
Right?
Fran
Or then sometimes when he throws away the wrong box, I'm like, I needed that box.
Ashley Hesseltine
Still.
Fran
The label's in the box.
Ria
What do you mean?
Fran
I'm like, well, the return label's in the box. Now the box is gone. Now I have to go find a printer.
Ria
I don't have a printer, guys.
Ashley Hesseltine
He brought a label printer into our house.
Fran
Oh, my God.
Ria
No, no.
Ashley Hesseltine
But I think he wasn't prepared for, like, the box. Like, yeah, sometimes. And I'll just throw them outside. Like, I'll just throw them out the front door. Like, that's not my problem.
Ria
Yeah, no, like that.
Ashley Hesseltine
I do a lot.
Ria
Right, exactly.
Ashley Hesseltine
In this home. And that's your area.
Ria
Right. You're bringing a lot into this home.
Fran
We are not like, the boxes just
Ria
folding up the boxes. Like, you should just look another way, and the boxes should be gone.
Ashley Hesseltine
I think it's hot to watch a man break down a bunch of boxes. A box cutter.
Ria
It's great. Oh, my God.
Ashley Hesseltine
A weapon.
Ria
It's like, we, like, plan a day. We're like, okay. He's like, I'm gonna get the packages. So, like, you're like, I'm gonna get that other packages. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like, okay, well, tonight's a good night then. No, it's so funny. You talk about so much in the special. It was hilarious. You also had another joke that I wrote down about, like, meeting someone, like, college football, like, being like, where'd you go to? Where'd you go to college? What college football team? Are you fan? I'd be like, how old are we?
Ashley Hesseltine
I'm an adult. That was. So I lived in Atlanta for 10 years. I went to Clemson for. For college. So big, like, football school, and then lived in Atlanta. So it's interesting how people are more into their college team than an NFL team.
Ria
So.
Ashley Hesseltine
And now I'm like, I'm an adult. I'm an Eagles fan.
Fran
Like, you know, I graduated to a protein.
Noah
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah. So it.
Ria
But it's.
Ashley Hesseltine
People are still like that, so it's still a go dogs or, you know, like.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And I. That's something I don't get because I didn't really go to college. And, like, I don't understand.
Fran
I didn't have a big football. No big football scene.
Ria
Yeah. My husband's not college football. I mean, he likes college basketball, so it's not really anything different, but, like, you know, like, these people, like, wear the rings of the college they went to and all that. And I'm just like, that's really.
Ashley Hesseltine
That's really intense, and that's what you're into. That's totally fine. I mean, I had an ex. I mean, his whole personality was Alabama football, and either way, whatever you want to do. But to me, I'm like, it's so much more fun to be an Eagles fan, like, as my primary personality trait.
Ria
Right.
Ashley Hesseltine
Than like, these college kids. That is true.
Ria
But it is being an Eagles fan, which comes with a lot of personality.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Ria
Maybe there are some places that. You know what I mean? It depends.
Ashley Hesseltine
Cool. To be a Falcons fan. Like, being in the south, being in Atlanta, I'm like, the vibes are not the same. It felt the city. It did feel more transient in that way. Like, I don't think the Falcons. That's not a type of. So people in Atlanta are like Georgia fans or whatever, instead of Falcons fans as much.
Ria
Right. Is your husband a Patriots fan?
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah. I mean, technically, just growing up in New England, but now he is an Eagles fan. Like, we've been to a bunch of games, and he and my brother.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
But I still like the Celtics, actually. Like, I have 76ers first. But, like. Like, we went to a Celtics playoff game. It was so electric. I love the Garden. Like, I am good with the Celtics,
Ria
so that's kind of tough.
Ashley Hesseltine
This past that always 76ers first. But yeah, we're just. I love it. He has Eagles, like, merch and stuff.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like, he.
Fran
We really. You gotta. You gotta get him in. I. I did the same thing to my husband. We were going to. When we went to the Super Bowl, I was like, look, you're. We're going in the game. You're coming. And I got you a shirt, and I got you a hat, and you will be wearing.
Ashley Hesseltine
What did he. Who did he like before?
Fran
He's a Jets fan.
Ashley Hesseltine
Okay.
Fran
So it's like. It's a struggle. And. And he was like, I can. I can jump it. I can jump in. It's like I could jump in and root for.
Ria
He was blowing the whistle all over the place after that.
Fran
Oh, absolutely. I'm like a cool Abercrombie, like, men's T shirt and the hat, the whole thing. I'm like, this is the look.
Ria
While we're on the topic of Philly, did you watch the Kevin Hart roast?
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Ria
Oh, my God. You were there. Okay. How was it being there?
Ashley Hesseltine
I loved being there. So I. I mean, I've seen some mixed reviews.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Some of what I've seen. Seemed like they're from people who don't know what a roast is, where it's the worst shit ever that you say about people, you know, and so that's
Ria
what it's supposed to be.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah, it's. It's. All of it falls under racism, sexism, ageism, making fun of people's parents who died, your spouse who committed suicide. Like, it's dark. I didn't love all of it, but I. I think a couple things felt like, crossed the line. But I'm also, like, a comedian where I'm like, they're. The roast is where there shouldn't actually be a line, but being there was amazing. I mean, the fact that they brought Tom Brady out, I think really so started it strong. Because the thing about this roast was a lot of what you noticed if you watched it, was that it wasn't the strongest. Like, people. Like, it wasn't.
Fran
Yeah, right, right.
Ashley Hesseltine
They had a hard time even. I know, like, internally, they had a hard time even finding a lot of people to. To. To participate. So really start with that star power and then Usher, and then end with the Rock. Like, the whole time we're sitting there, like, is the Rock going to come out? And then Cheryl Underwood, who just. I didn't love the way they kind of went in on her all night. So I. I've never rooted for someone so much to go up and just absolutely crush. And it was electric, amazing.
Ria
Like, I was hitting my couch, laughing
Ashley Hesseltine
at Charlotte, Justin, I mean, Def Jam, old school, like, comedian, like, just really in it. And I. I talked to Shane a little after the after party, and he started, and he. You could tell that he was even like, oh, this is gonna be rough. You know, and he was probably just. The people were on the floor, maybe they weren't laughing. I don't know. We were all laughing. We thought it was great. And even he said that he felt like after Chelsea, it kind of cracked everybody open and kind of.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Got better after that. We were like, it was great the whole time. I mean, do you think people.
Fran
Do you think maybe some comedians are a little, like, afraid to participate in a roast like that because it's watched by so many people? And it's like, if you do try and go there, then you get, like, as you see the Internet ripping these people apart, saying, like, that wasn't funny, or blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It's like, yeah, it's just like, maybe this is not worth it.
Ashley Hesseltine
For sure. People turn it down.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Don't want to do it. And I think there's also this probably more of a male trait that they're like, I'm gonna do it, and it's gonna make my. It's gonna Nikki Glazer my career, you know, because when you do it in a way that she did it, obviously she was famous before, but that catapulted her into another stratosphere. So I think most people are like, that's the dream for that to happen. To crush so hard that people just. It just changes your trajectory of your career. But that doesn't happen that often. So I don't know. I mean, all. Every comedian has a team of writers. It's admittedly, I don't think that's a secret anymore. I think maybe people used to think that that all came from their own brain, and it doesn't. If you don't. Higher writers. I think you're making a mistake. Yeah. If you really are that confident to think like, I can do this on my own, you're wrong. So there's. There's that. But, yeah, I think people don't want to do it. And I mean, don't want to be the person getting roasted. Like, I don't.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Think that Kevin Hart was probably their first choice.
Ria
Right.
Fran
Right. And you know what? We felt that in the sense that, like, you go from Tom Brady, so you get somebody that's not in that world, but just has the insane star power. That's what makes Rose sometimes so interesting, is when it's not a comedian.
Ashley Hesseltine
Well. And didn't Kevin Hart hosted Tom Brady's roast? We just saw this, like. Which is fine. It was great. I love Kevin Hart. But Tom Brady, that was insane. When you really think about him agreeing to that. But it's shocking because he's. We don't. He's more private.
Fran
He's an athlete.
Ashley Hesseltine
I mean, he's one of the greatest of all time. It's nuts.
Ria
And I think he even. He was shocked by what was said to him, which made it even better. Like, Kevin Hart, he knows. He knows what's gonna be said about him. So it plays into it. I still thought it was great and funny. I think there were a couple of moments where it was just like, you could tell that Shane was, like, nervous about people's reaction. But I'm like, just. Just in my head, I'm like, just stop addressing it, you know, like.
Ashley Hesseltine
Because he doesn't need to do that.
Ria
He kept being like, you. It's funny. And I'm like, you don't even have to do that.
Ashley Hesseltine
No one knows watching it.
Ria
Like, we didn't know that the crowd in front of you was not laughing.
Ashley Hesseltine
I told him that afterwards. I was like, we. Again, I think sometimes you're playing to. There was definitely comedians on the floor, but there you're. Sometimes you're playing to, like, the Hollywood elites or whatever. Like, I can't think of a worse crowd than, like, an Oscar crowd. Like those award shows and stuff. Different vibes at the roast. But I think it just. Just maybe took those people a little bit of time to warm up. But, like, I mean, Shane's also gonna.
Ria
Shane.
Ashley Hesseltine
And he's gonna, like, say the thing that's on it. Like, he. I think that makes him really relatable and likable, that he could be up there thinking he's bombing and he's not or.
Ria
Yeah, he, like, says it. But then in this moment, I feel like it just, like, took away from it sometimes. Just move. Just move along. Just move along. Because then there were other people saying similar jokes and people were cackling. So I'm like, you kind of just gotta move along.
Fran

Ria
But I thought that there were some really great ones. I thought there were obviously some ones that missed that probably just didn't need to be said. But who did you think, like, was a real standout besides Cheryl? Because Cheryl, we know, like, absolutely crushed it.
Ashley Hesseltine
Cheryl, Chelsea, Pete.
Ria
I. I said the same thing. I thought he was great. Chelsea as well.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Ria
I thought Pete was so funny.
Ashley Hesseltine
I thought he was, too. It's tough. Pete Davidson is so funny to be roasted. Everyone just talks about as big as Dick is. He can pull. It's insane to sit up there. And that's the. And his dad. He's heard about his dad. Whatever. He's fine about it. I thought. I thought the Usher thing was hilarious. Like, that he changed the lyrics to Burn. Yeah. And then, like, the rock coming out was great.
Ria
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
I liked Lizzo. The flute with all the little.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
But I just. Not that she had these amazing jokes. She's not a comedian.
Fran
It was.
Ashley Hesseltine
Her set was fine. She just was having fun.
Ria
Good PR for Lizzo just looked like
Fran
she was having fun and laughing. And I said. I said this as well. Like, when you watch a roast, you want to watch the people that are on the couches laugh at themselves. If they can't laugh at themselves when the camera cuts to them and they're just like. You're like, ooh. Like, it makes the joke less funny. It makes you, like, it gives you a different feeling. You want those people to also be laughing. So when everyone's making jokes about Lizzo and you could hear Lizzo dying, laughing, I'm like, that just. It just makes it.
Ashley Hesseltine
Having the time. I just. Her. I really liked her energy. I don't really. I don't really know what was going on with Regina Hall. She was sitting there.
Fran
Yeah. Unsure.
Ashley Hesseltine
No shade. This is truly just what we saw was she looked very miserable. Miserable. Yeah. And I think the way they hurt Saturn next to Chelsea, like, Chelsea was in the forefront. So she's. I think that was weird, too. That was not maybe their decision, but Lizzo was. Had the most fun.
Ria
She.
Ashley Hesseltine
She, like, couldn't even get her through a joke. She was laughing so much, which is like, if you don't like her, you think that's annoying. I am neutral on her, so I was just like, she's having fun.
Ria
Yeah. It's good to just see people having fun up there. You mentioned that everybody has a team of writers, and if you don't, then, like, you just think you're too good. When it came to doing your special and doing your tour. Do you have a team of writers working with you for that?
Ashley Hesseltine
Writers? I've never. I have, like. I mean, it's. It's. No. And I I can't speak for every comedian, I think, you know, because some people, maybe they wouldn't be honest for the most part. Most people's first special should be, like, most of their own jokes. Like, I. The more famous you get, the more content you have to put out, which is a weird way to talk about comedy. But, like, I don't know, you're on your fifth or sixth special. You need help of coming up with the stuff. You're more.
Fran
You've only lived so much life.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yes, exactly.
Fran
Special. You're like, I got. Got decades of material.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yes. So this is all I got, you know, And I have. Yeah, I feel. I feel. I. Again, I can't speak for everybody. I feel. I feel proud of it. I have, like, a tag that's, you know, like, I. I've sat down with Andrew Collin, who I love, and we've workshop stuff, but it's all. And I think there's, like, one actually funny tag he gave me on this joke I have about Eminem the rapper. And. But other than that, no, it's all. I don't have writers to thank.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
I mean, my. My husband is like my muse, Reina. I sit down with Raina. I mean, it's. He and Raina are the people that are, like, my biggest support system. And also just. I run stuff by. Yeah. Like, I work stuff out with them. But I want to go back to the rose really quick because I just tell you guys. So you like. Meek Mill comes out at the end. He plays Dreams and Nightmares, which is also kind of like unofficial Philadelphia Eagles song. So he's at the after party, and I love him, and my brother, like, really loves him. So I was like, I want to talk to Meek, like. And by the way, the after party, there's a VIP section, which I think is funny because everybody's vip, Right. Right. But there's other vvip. We got to be a Vitana. Lamar Odom, like, whatever.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Ria
So all of the Kardashians, exes.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah. Corey was there, too.
Ria
Lamar, perfect. French Montana.
Ashley Hesseltine
Seriously, Right? Yeah. So Shashank was like, just go. Just go talk to him. I was like, no, you do it. I think something about him. He's just this, like, tall, attractive, like, Indian guy. He just, like, people take to him like, I'm just like a white girl, you know? I was like, you do it. You do it. He always does this for me. He did this with Jason Kelsey. Like, he'll go up and just be like, my wife, whatever. So he goes. And I said, Tell him we played Dreams of Nightmares at our wedding. We might have played it. Bottom line, I'm appropriating my brother's wedding. So the last song of my brother's wedding was Dreams and Nightmares. It was like the final song.
Fran
Like, whatever.
Ashley Hesseltine
They made a big thing about it. Our. That was not our final song. Our final song was We Found Love, obviously by Rihanna. But I was like, we'll just. We'll just tell him. That was our. We will just tell.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Fran
We'll just combine. Come on.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah, it's fine. We give my brother. Yeah, I'm sure he will. I would allow it. So he goes up and he's like, mika, I gotta tell you, my wife's from Philly. I'm not. I would die if you said where. Because I'd have to be like, Delaware. And then I'd be like, I'm mortified, but right. Philly adjacent.
Ria
Literally. Just make up a place.
Ashley Hesseltine
I would have been like, Manion. I would have just said a thing. Would I?
Fran
You do the same. I do the same thing. He's like, I grew up in North Jersey. They're like, oh, are you in Philly fan? I'm like, I just am, like, you know?
Ashley Hesseltine
So he's like, my wife's from Philly. I'm like, what if he asked square?
Ria
But.
Ashley Hesseltine
And he was like, we played Dreams and Nightmares at our wedding. And he was like, you did? That's so cool. And he has like. There's security right there. Like, they put his hand on Shashank. And Meek, like, is like, he's good. He's good. And so we tell him this. And I wasn't gonna ask for a photo, but we told him this whole thing. He goes, then get that flick then. And I go, what? I was like, does he.
Ria
I don't know.
Fran
I never.
Ashley Hesseltine
He goes, get that flag then. And I said, what?
Fran
He was like, you're like, get that picture. Like, is that a photo?
Ria
I've never heard flag, but that is amazing.
Ashley Hesseltine
So, like, we. And then Shashank takes it. He's like, man, you can be in it. And he's like, no, no, I'm good. Just take it with my girl, you know?
Ria
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
And the photo's crazy.
Ria
Do you have it?
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah, it's. I have it on my.
Fran
I saw you put on my carousel.
Ashley Hesseltine
But in the back background is Tiffany Haddish and French Montana. Just casually in the background.
Ria
That is unbelievable.
Ashley Hesseltine
It couldn't have been nicer.
Ria
That is so nice. I'm gonna use that. Get that Flick, then.
Ashley Hesseltine
Get that flick then. We've been saying it, like, for days, ever since.
Fran
Amazing. You're like, I think you mean photo. I'm just gonna go with photo.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
I'm just gonna stand next to you and hope you mean photo.
Ria
Next time a fan comes up to you, be like, get that flick.
Ashley Hesseltine
100%. Well, okay. When you guys meet people, they come up to you like, I love you. Like, I know if they want a picture. Yeah. I don't care if. I'll take it if you ask, but I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna offer.
Fran
No, no, no. God forbid. They go, no, I'm good.
Ria
Which has happened, by the way, because it has.
Fran
My friends do it all the time. Like, my real best. Like, they're. And they're. They mean well. They're so great. But, like, if we're out at a bar somewhere or something, and like. Like, a listener comes up and they're like, oh, friend, like, love your stuff. Like, one of my friends will be like, oh, my God, like, do you want a picture? And they'll be like, no,
Ashley Hesseltine
I told my friends to stop doing that. Yeah, yeah, you don't need to do that.
Ria
Or when they're with, like, a significant other and the significant other's like, get the.
Fran
Get a picture with her.
Ria
And they're like. And she's. And they're like, no, no, it's okay. And they walk away. So not good enough for a flip then. Or.
Fran
It's also almost worse when they go, I guess. Yeah.
Ria
And then you're like, sure.
Fran
So now you're taking the picture. They don't really want it. It's probably just gonna get.
Ashley Hesseltine
Now you're their fan.
Ria
By the way, I'm always open to taking a picture. Like, oh, you want to take a picture with me? Please.
Ashley Hesseltine
The dynamic has shifted.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
When they aren't excited anymore.
Ria
Yeah. It's like, okay, what if I would
Ashley Hesseltine
have said no to Meek Mill? Yeah, I'm good.
Ria
This is enough.
Fran
Wait, you mentioned Tiffany Haddish. And, like, what was she doing?
Ashley Hesseltine
I don't know. She was there.
Fran
She was there.
Ria
She was cover of Sports Illustrator, cover
Fran
of Sports Illustrated, but she didn't have one moment.
Ashley Hesseltine
Okay, so, by the way, like, we couldn't totally see. They didn't show on the. Like, we weren't seated right up front. We could see everything. We were watching some of the screens, too, but we couldn't see close up. Everybody who was on the back. Back of the couch. And there was a moment where I was like, all these people can't be roasting. This will take. Will be her.
Fran
Yeah. And it was already long.
Ashley Hesseltine
It was already long. Yeah. So she was just sitting there. Like, if you guys watched it, Like, I didn't see it from that vantage point. Like, she's just sitting there now. Like, I don't understand it.
Fran
They just didn't address sitting there.
Ashley Hesseltine
But I don't even get it because she's a comic. Like, yeah, I get it. If you want your friends up there to. To. To be on the couches. I don't.
Fran
That was, like, the situation on the other couch. I think Kevin Hart said his boys in the.
Ashley Hesseltine
In the back, which is fine, which is understandable. But a comedian is that. I don't understand.
Fran
I know. And then it was like. And it was really not, like, addressed at all. Like, I don't think they said her name.
Ria
Never.
Fran
It wasn't like, she was not roasted by anyone else. Her name was not brought up. Yeah, she just, like, not even, like.
Ashley Hesseltine
And Tiffany's here. Like, it was like they were told, keep her name out of your mouth.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
It was weird. Yeah.
Ria
It kind of felt like they were told to keep Regina Hall's name out of their mouth.
Ashley Hesseltine
But. But then I'm like, I. But what would they have said? I don't know.
Fran
Yeah, right.
Ashley Hesseltine
I know. What. What joke is there? I don't know.
Ria
I don't know.
Ashley Hesseltine
Although.
Fran
And. And she was. I thought she was funn. She went up. It was. She kind of put on, like, a whole. She's a great actress, so I feel like she did, like, this whole performance, really, of, like, hearing from Kevin's dead mom, which was. I thought it was pretty funny.
Ashley Hesseltine
She said she's. What did she say? She was like. She said she's doing the mom. She's like. She said Tiana wasn't gonna do good.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
The most beautiful woman. Yeah, yeah. Amazing actress, obviously, but she did kind of bomb. And then when Shane went up after and addressed it, I laughed, like. So I told him that that night. I was like, that really got me.
Ria
Yeah. And when he was like, pete, you're the only one that can. Yeah, that was really funny. Teyana Taylor really is. I was writing this in our group chat. I was like, she is definitely one of the hottest people alive. It's actually not even close. Like, it's pretty stunning. Looking at her. Like, I can't even imagine seeing her in person.
Ashley Hesseltine
Close.
Ria
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
When you see people like that. So guess star sighting the other night was. We saw.
Ria
Yeah, I saw Leonardo Caprell the other day.
Ashley Hesseltine
You did what? Like, how did you feel seeing him in. In the Flash?
Fran
Clearly, she hasn't stopped thinking about, well, mine.
Ashley Hesseltine
Aunt Becky from Full House, So. No less Lori Loughlin, but stunning.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
I imagine.
Ashley Hesseltine
She's so beautiful.
Fran
She's got a different haircut, too. That really suits her, I thought.
Ashley Hesseltine
I didn't even. And then I just saw her daughter this morning on some cover. Something I didn't realize just how much they look alike.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Look a lot alike.
Ashley Hesseltine
But we saw her, we walk in this restauran, and Shashank was like, that's Lori Laughlin. And I'm like, you're exactly right. And she's so beautiful. Like, when you Usually you see celebrities in real life, they're smaller than you think and more stunning.
Ria
Yeah, no, Leo was.
Ashley Hesseltine
Oh, wait, where'd you see.
Ria
Sorry. At a restaurant in the city. Well, I saw Sam Rockwell, Adrien brody, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Ashley Hesseltine
Oh, my gosh.
Ria
At the same restaurant. All at separate times. Leo had his mustache. He's looking fantastic. I feel like his aura and presence is still on me from Friday.
Ashley Hesseltine
Same with Meek Mill, but.
Ria
Yeah, right, Exactly. We link up together. Oh, my God. Unstoppable. We're Leo and Meek Mill together. No, it just, like, feels like it's still on me a little bit. Like I'm glowing a little bit more and everything. But as the days go on, I get sadder and sadder because I feel like.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Like, it's like memories fading a little bit. I heard his voice, which was, like, to me, I. I love Leonardo Caprio's voice.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Ria
And, like, that really sticks with me, you know? But, yeah. Enough about me and this story.
Ashley Hesseltine
Were you with your husband?
Ria
No, this is a. We've already been through it. It's kind of a controversial story in this room. She was supposed to go spend 45
Fran
minutes talking about it on Monday.
Ria
Didn't get the invite.
Ashley Hesseltine
Oh, my God.
Ria
So, like, people are, like, really jealous of me and the people I were with in this office because I was with two other people in this office, and, like, the office is, like, really, like, jealous of it. It's, like, really ugly of them, actually. Like, they're, like, being, like, really rude
Ashley Hesseltine
about being a hater.
Ria
No. Yeah, they're being, like, big time haters are being rude and, like, dismissing us. It's like, okay, well, some of us saw Leo and some of us didn't.
Ashley Hesseltine
Right. I don't mean just, I don't know, invite him to the office, see if he Comes.
Ria
Yeah. That would be everything. He was with his girlfriend and everything. Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
That's huge. That's like the top
Fran
one of the. One of the guys had to keep bragging. Try and take a picture, though. As he went into the car.
Ria
Yeah. He tried to get that flick him.
Fran
Someone, like, from the restaurant came out.
Ria
It was like, you gotta delete that. So I'm hoping I'm not banned from this place, but that is. Besides.
Fran
And, like, didn't even get him in the picture. He just, like, got his car.
Ria
Yeah. He just wanted to be like, he's in this car.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Ria
To rub it in Noah's face.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And Noah's, like, been hating us ever since. It's a whole thing. He's like, really?
Ashley Hesseltine
I could feel Noah's hater.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
It's like.
Ria
It's radiating.
Noah
I'm just saying that this didn't happen. Like, this was just. This is a whole elaborate.
Ria
Really fun that this.
Fran
Oh, no, it did.
Ria
He's like. He's just being. It's really ugly. It's a really ugly trait. Don't feed into it. Tell him it's really ugly. This show is sponsored by Better Help. Life is a journey. Ashley Hesseltine
It's been really received. Really well, so, yes, like you mentioned, you can watch it on YouTube or Prime Video, but I did a live premiere on YouTube with a live chat, which was, like, the most fun thing my life.
Fran
So I.
Ashley Hesseltine
You never. I don't know. I had some nerves about that. I think we all think, like, are this. They're gonna be, like, haters in there. No, it was all positive. And it's just everyone is in this chat going crazy about, like, every joke, every tag, and they're like. Like, it was so nuts. And, like, a few people jumped in. Like, like, my director from the special jumped in. Like, the Stand comedy club jumped. And, like, just random people kept coming in there. And Raina popped in, and everyone's like, where's Shashank? And, like, he comes in. He's like, hi. And I had some friends over, and we. My Shashank made this bingo. So we had, like, here comes the bride bingo and still get those. You can check my link tree and download the bingo card or play it on, like, digitally. But that was really so fun. Like, there was, like, such a high. And to have people over at my house and watch it and stuff. So fun. It's just. It's been great. The feedback has been great.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
I mean, it's. People are saying they're watching it two and three times.
Fran
Yeah, it was.
Ashley Hesseltine
I've never in my life watched a comedy special twice.
Ria
Really? I mean, I do it all the time.
Ashley Hesseltine
You do?
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Because.
Ashley Hesseltine
Well, it's so flattering.
Fran
It turns into a comfort, I think. Like, it's like. Yeah, you're like. You know, a laugh is coming.
Ria
Okay.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
Okay. Yeah, I. I love to hear that. I mean, I. So it's just. I. I love hearing from people watching it, and I've. I've gotten so many incredible messages, and a lot of people are watching it with their partners, and I. The message I've probably gotten the most is, like, I watch this with my boyfriend, fiance, husband, and he doesn't laugh a lot. And I'm like, relatable. I get it.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
And he loved it. And I'm like, that's so nice. You know? And this one DM from this woman she sent, and she was like, I was watching your special, and I thought my kids were, like, doing something, and all of a sudden, my daughter comes around the corner and goes, who choked her? And she was like. So I had to watch her.
Fran
What's. What does uncircumcised meaning.
Ria
That bit was so good about the gel Manny and the choking. It was that Was so good.
Ashley Hesseltine
I mean, to be. To be getting choked, and you're like, this guy's the gel. Manny, Yo.
Ria
I'm actually getting.
Ashley Hesseltine
This is the color, by the way.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And you're getting choked by yourself, basically.
Ashley Hesseltine
Right? That's right.
Fran
When you were like, ladies, we all know the color.
Ashley Hesseltine
This is the color. I actually do. It's called let's be Friends. It's Sz. No, it's Opi. Opi. Let's be Friends.
Fran
I was like. In my head, I was like, it's
Ria
either that or it's funny Bunny, you know? Right.
Fran
We all know it.
Ashley Hesseltine
Totally real.
Ria
Oh, it's too good.
Fran
You know what I also really loved? At the end of the special, you put in a moment from your wedding with your. I'm guessing your dad's speech.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Fran
And he makes a DUI joke, and everyone goes crazy. But I'm laughing because everyone's going crazy. But then I'm like, you know, his. His family doesn't seem to be hooting and hollering as much at their table because, like, your friends are, like, up, like, waving there, like, throwing their napkins around. I'm like, oh, my God, I'm dying. Like, yeah, he has, like.
Ashley Hesseltine
At our wedding, he had, like, his mom was a bunch of sisters. Like, he had his, like, aunties there, like, you know, or his actual aunts, actually. And I don't even know if they really process what happened. But, yeah, this moment at our wedding. So there's wedding footage all throughout. It opens. It's through a few moments throughout, and then it ends with this moment of my dad's speech. That's. You know what it is? It's my joke. My dad just called back to my joke, so everyone thinks he brought the house down. I'm like, that's my bit. He just said he knows the bit. I just filmed the special three weeks ago. He's seen it. He knows it. So he did my joke. And standing ovation. My agent is honestly. Book him a tour. Sign him right now. Like, people were on their feet. Bobby Westside is my friend who emceed the wedding. He's got the mic stand pumping it above his head. Like, people went absolutely berserk for this thing at my wedding. And my dad, he plays a big part of the special, too. I tell this whole story about him and everything. He just. He's so funny. And I. He didn't plan that. It was. People were like, how I couldn't plan that if I tried.
Fran
Yeah. Yeah, that's right. That's off the cuff.
Ashley Hesseltine
And he like he's a big drinker but he didn't drink until after a speech. Like he went in clear headed knowing he was going to crush. Like I truly feel like after that he totally let loose. Like he knew he had a moment coming.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
So yeah, it was, it was so good because it just felt like what great energy from everybody in the response.
Ria
So good.
Fran
And you always kind of think like that someone who is a comedian for their job, you're like, well you must be surrounded by funny, some funny people in your life. Like you gotta get the funny from. You have to be kind of introduced to funny somehow.
Ashley Hesseltine
Right?
Ria
Funny or like trauma.
Fran
Yes, yeah, no, for sure.
Ria
Or a combination of both.
Ashley Hesseltine
And that was really our like speech block at our wedding was so elite.
Fran
Like I don't.
Ashley Hesseltine
Cause that was. My brother did a speech. He's so funny. I think he's the funniest person. He hates public speaking. He's not a big showman, but I think he's hilarious. It was so funny. My parents, mainly my dad and then Shashank's sister had everyone in tears. I mean we did it so well. And every time I'm at a wedding this speeches started. I, I, I, I honestly love when people bomb. Like I, I find like some of the awkwardness. I, it's so entertaining to me.
Fran
But like it's hard.
Ashley Hesseltine
Wedding speeches are can be so brutal and so long, dude. Like I was like, we'll start lighting people if they go over their time.
Ria
Yeah, we didn't. We did. At our rehearsal dinner the night before, my sister, my brother in law and my mother in law all made speeches. And then only at our wedding did my dad make a speech. Right? And he like, he was so nervous because he was the only one making a speech. But he fucking crushed it.
Ashley Hesseltine
I love that.
Ria
But he like, like he had tears, he had people laughing. But he was so nervous, right? My dad was like so nervous leading up to it. Like he couldn't even speak to people. Like once like the reception started was until after that, but then we went.
Fran
Yeah, I was like up at the bar with him and I was like, are you all right?
Ria
He like couldn't like he, he was just.
Fran
And your mom was like, he's nervous.
Ria
He like couldn't speak. And Fran was like, I think your dad's like freaking out.
Fran
I'm like,
Ria
no, literally. But we went to a wedding and I'll just say it, I won't say who, but there was a speech that happened and the Guy, the, you know, best man, said, like, he's done a lot of dumb things, but, like, the dumbest thing he's ever done is get married. And like, we. No, no, no. We like the room stops.
Ashley Hesseltine
Wedding crashers.
Ria
No, no. It was like. Like genuinely like, well, you know. You know, we're at the wedding right now, right? Like, everyone felt like. Like, you could just hear the air sucked out of the room, but at the same time, you're like, I am.
Ashley Hesseltine
No, I'm, like, dying.
Ria
So thankful I did that. Like, I will take everyone believe I just witnessed this.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like, if the bride is my best friend, I'm upset. Yeah, right. No, no, but otherwise, I. You guys, I. I live for stuff like that. Like, there is a thing you feel
Ria
awful, but at the same time, you're like, that was epic.
Fran
Yeah.
Ashley Hesseltine
There was, like, a little bit of something we thought might be drama. My wedding with, like, a couple that broken up. Whatever. Nothing happened, but I was like, get into it.
Fran
I love drama.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like, as long. As long as doesn't affect me.
Fran
Yes.
Ashley Hesseltine
I'm just like, I love a little stories.
Ria
The next day, I was.
Fran
Family drama go down. And. And, like, I was like. And I just, like, sat there being like, oh, my God, I can't believe I'm. I can't believe I'm watching, like, a dispute at a wedding. This is my dream.
Ria
It's kind of the best, though, when it, like, doesn't actually happen, but you hear rumblings of it might happen. Like, people are talking shit and you're like, like, honestly, I had this kind of the same thing at our wedding.
Fran
Your Uncle James said last night, yeah,
Ria
I had a couple people fuming at somebody else, and I was like, like, you know, I don't want anything to happen, but, like, hey, you got to do what you got to do, you know, Like. But the next day, getting the full recap of this person said. This person said that.
Ashley Hesseltine
It's so. It's a. Like, I had one friend who's married, but, like, all these guys were going after. Like, there was just. She didn't do anything.
Fran
She.
Ashley Hesseltine
She was going to flirt a little bit, and people thought they had a chance. A guy slipped her his room key. I'm like, her husband's here. And then, like, we one guess not on my side, that was just the drunkest, most problematic. Like, the. Like, my wedding planner said she caught him crying and she shoved him into the bathroom and said, clean yourself up. Get yourself together. She cut him off at the bar, like, the next day, and all the things.
Fran
And you're like, wow, everyone does such a good job of protecting the bride and groom.
Ashley Hesseltine
They do.
Fran
From this. Because you hear it the next day. You're like, when did that happen?
Ria
I didn't find out until six months later that my godfather threw up under his table. He is so drunk that he threw up at his seat. Had no idea.
Ashley Hesseltine
No idea.
Ria
I was like, that's amazing. He had a good time.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
Yep.
Fran
It's just like. You're like, wow. I don't know how I was there. How did I do this? Without me realizing this was.
Ria
No one doesn't even remember my wedding.
Noah
That's my biggest regret is that I don't remember anything.
Ashley Hesseltine
You drank. She blacked out.
Noah
Yeah. After the cocktail hour. I don't remember anything.
Ria
He carved his initials.
Fran
Fully realize that we don't have any recollection.
Ria
I have so many pictures of Noah's initials on the corner of our dance floor that he was so drunky. Car.
Fran
You know, like when he's like, your rubber soles on. Like it. You know when you be in gym class in middle school and you would use your.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yes.
Fran
Your. Your school shoes on the gym floor and it would like, you.
Ria
You could.
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah.
Fran
Like, it would leave rubber pass. Like he was doing that on the dance floor.
Ria
There are romantic pictures of my husband and I like kissing and he's dipping me. And you just see in the corner Noah's initials in the background.
Ashley Hesseltine
No. What. What'd you do at the cocktail hour? Were you like ripping shots?
Noah
Well, there was like two hours in between after the. So like we went to a bar. So I think that's really what.
Fran
Like we had about two hours in between where some people could pace themselves. He's like, it's my big.
Ria
He goes, I had such a good time. I think that's so true.
Ashley Hesseltine
Those weddings with that gap in between that I've been to. Like, it's a little worrisome always, like, what are people going to get in?
Ria
Hey, it was a good time, though.
Ashley Hesseltine
Totally.
Fran
Yeah. Yes. No, that.
Ashley Hesseltine
That.
Fran
That is so true. You really just never know.
Ria
You just don't always know what's going on.
Fran
All these other side plots that are happening.
Ria
So what's the. What's the next era for you now you're married? Are we closing the chapter on. No, I mean, on the. The comedy front of you. It was all. It was all wedding related.
Ashley Hesseltine
I don't know. I mean, I have written some new. I mean, you get to start from scratch. Obviously. You dump everything and it's like a start completely from scratch. And I've been working on some new stuff. I. Reina is on tour, so I've been going out with her and like, that's when I'm like working stuff out. She's the show here Thursday. If you guys can come, we'll talk after at Gramercy Theater. So I'll. I'll host her show. Me doing stand up for 13 years. Raina started it six months ago. I'm her host. Yeah, we love that dynamic opening for her.
Fran
Yep.
Ashley Hesseltine
That's my best friend. But I don't know, I mean, I really do enjoy doing comedy. I love doing this special. I don't know. I joke that I want to do one amazing special. I want to be like Lauryn Hill. Like one album. One and done one perfect album.
Fran
And you're like, she doesn't have to really do anything more because that one album.
Ashley Hesseltine
But no, I'm still doing it. I don't have like an immediate goal. I have other things we want to do, like Rain and I want to do.
Ria
We got the podcast Girls Got to Eat. You guys know it. Alright. If you listen to this show, I'm sure you know Girls Got to Eat. We love it.
Ashley Hesseltine
We have that. We want to write a book eventually. We've been saying that for years and that's kind of it. Yeah. So just like, what kind of book?
Fran
More like.
Ashley Hesseltine
Like. Like everything we've learned over the last eight years of having our show mixed in with our personal stories as well. And we've. We never knew how we were going to do it because we can't just combine our voice into one. And we've seen some podcasters do a really good job with alternating chapters. Like Raina does what I do on kind of like our shared stories and life lessons and things like that. So when we picture it kind of like we kind of mapped out how it would. Would look as like a trilogy, even A trilogy. That sounds like. Yeah, you know, like other books down the road. Yeah. Do it have a book that turns into a TV show? Like the next thing, huh?
Fran
Is it Volume one?
Ashley Hesseltine
Yeah, exactly.
Ria
We love it and we love you guys so much. You guys are crushing it. We're so happy for you. Totally can see a TV show. I mean, that's writes itself, but you guys are both amazing. Thank you so much for coming and we're so excited for you. Everyone can watch Ashley's special on YouTube or Amazon Prime. I watch it on Amazon Prime. Podcast Rapper

Noah
Long time listener, first time caller?
Podcast Rapper
Look at the charts who does it the best? Two chicks getting paid in reality checks? You can find them at the gym? It's not even a flex? Last minute red carpet flew them out on the jet? Yeah, they're who you want to be? They're always on your screen? Two queens and they might be spilling royalty? A lot of topics that are popping here to get into? I know a show that you probably want to listen to? Turn the heat up? Turn the beat up? Record the pod made a bag, put their feet up? The ones that leave no crumbs when they clean up? Who's the pod that they all want to meet up? Who turned the heat up? Turn the feet up? Record the pod made a bag, put their feet up? The ones that leave no crumbs when they clean up? Who's the pod that they all want to meet up?
Ria
