Ria
It's Chicks in the Office with Ria and Fran giving you that Friday energy on a Monday and Friday energy we have indeed on this Monday morning. How we feeling?
Fran
Victory Monday, baby.
Ria
Victorious.
Fran
Oh, yeah. Love that.
Ria
Why not, huh? Why not?
Fran
I'm in a great mood, but I'm also exhausted. Figured, you know, what a such a fun day, but a draining day. I feel like I was out there on the field, you know?
Ria
You know what?
Fran
You might as well be sore. My voice hurts.
Ria
Makes sense.
Fran
My throat's a little scratchy. It's like I might as well have suited up yesterday.
Ria
Your voice sounds better than I thought it was. And I think the listeners are actually gonna be shocked too, because the amount. The amount of lovely ladies that responded to my story being like, Fran's voice tomorrow is gonna be at another level.
Fran
No, truly.
Ria
No, it's true.
Fran
It's not that bad at all. Yeah, I've. It's. You know, I just don't throw them back like I used to put cigarettes down.
Ria
You're only doing half a pack these days.
Fran
That' I just going out and staying up late all weekend long. And then Sunday hits and then it's bad.
Ria
Right?
Fran
And then that's the. That would be the. That would be the problem. But I started to feel it go for sure towards. Towards the end of the game a little bit, but as it should.
Ria
It would be sudden. It didn't.
Fran
It was. It was so much fun. We did. We went to Xfinity pre game, Xfinity Live. They're the best. We had so much fun. They had a great table for us up on the balcony. Got to look down, like, look at everybody. Everybody's cheering, everybody excited. Food, drinks, hanging out, getting ready, which was nice because especially for a game like that, it really actually wasn't that cold. Like in my seat. Like, I wasn't really that cold. Sweaty, which is so nice.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
But I always over prepare, so I had a lot of layers. So it was nice being inside before the game to like not have all the. All the layers on before preparing for the game, which was great. Was there with Gia. And then my brother ended up coming as well, and he got a ticket a few rows in front of us, which ended up being very funny because just anytime something good would happen, I looked. I'm like, Jay, he's just hugging straight, like hugging everybody around him.
Ria
It's the spirit of the game.
Fran
At the second half, the. There was a couple next to us, and they left at halftime. And G and I were like, how do we tell JB to come back to sit with us? Or, like, everything's going well, like, the way it is. Should we just have him? She was like, no, let him stay down there. Let him stay there. And then JB was diving. He was like, no, I actually don't think the people around me would have let me leave. Like, we were, like, locked in. We were really locked in. Um, so it was great. The game was so much fun. Obviously, you know, The Eagles scored 55 points. It was just. It was a lot of excitement. Defense played great, got there early. M.K. morrissey was the. She's currently Elphaba on Broadway. She sang the national anthem, which just.
Ria
I mean, that's an amazing start.
Fran
Couldn't get any better than that.
Ria
That's an amazing start.
Fran
I saw her. She posted a TikTok. I posted on my story where she was joking, like, improvising. If she was gonna hit the Alphabet defying gravity note during the National Anthem, she did it. She had beautiful, beautiful national anthem, but. But she was joking, like a beret, you know, like to really, like, hit a little. She didn't do it, but that would have been good. Yeah, but it was. It was great. You know, they had the flyover. They have an eagle fly up from the top. The eagle flies around the. Around the stadium.
Ria
I saw that, and. And I was like, wow, that's really cool.
Fran
I know, I know. Over the speaker, they. They tell a little story about the eagle.
Ria
Oh, that's gorgeous.
Fran
It's just. It's just beautiful. So we had a really ton of fun. I just. Eagles games beat Eagles games just really crack me up because, like, the crowd is so funny. There was a. Definitely a decent amount of Commanders fans. Like, not a ton, but they were around for sure. And they, you know, good for them just for being at the game. I give them a lot of credit because. Not that I saw, like, anything bad happened, but it's a lot of, like, pointing and laughing. For sure. Like, there's a lot of, like. And a lot of, you know, a lot of them left early in the fourth quarter, so there's a lot of waving. Yeah. Yeah. There was a clip of these Commanders fans that took over. Took over. I put in quotation marks. The Hard Rock Cafe in Philadelphia, which everyone was like, didn't even know Philly had a Hard Rock Cafe. No one's ever at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Ria
There's always a Hard Rock Cafe to be found anywhere.
Fran
But it's like not hard to take over the Hard Rock Cafe when there's not a lot of people in there in the first place. And this guy like, aw, let them have that. No, this kid.
Ria
Unnecessary shout out.
Fran
He put on a whole speech at the Hard Rock Cafe the night before the game. This one fan of like, look at us taking over. Like, you know, and then somebody. I don't, who knows. Of course, like, the guy was recognized and it made it to the barstool Philly account of the guy leaving the commander's hand leaving the game. And everyone was like, back to the Hard Rock.
Ria
Oh my God. No. Oh, shit. Oh, shite.
Fran
Oh, boy. No, but we had. I had an all time like 12 year old Philly fan like in the row behind me who was just like, just screaming profanities. I'm like this. I just was dying laughing. I was crying. It was so funny. He's with his mom and his mom's.
Ria
Like, out loud at the game.
Fran
Yeah, it was just, it was just so cute. Really. The mind, like, I just. And then Gia just. Gia is the worst of them all. Really, like screaming her freaking head off. And there was a family like two rows in front of us, probably like a six year old boy. He just like kept turning around and like looking at Gia like, I was like, oh, my God, oh my God.
Ria
These words are coming out of this lady.
Fran
I know, I know, I know. But you know, you bring your little kids to an Eagles, to an Eagles.
Ria
Game, you know, especially, they know.
Fran
Yeah, they, they, they know what to expect. But oh my God, it was just so much fun. So much fun.
Ria
Well, I'm so happy for you. I was pumped up for you. And now the Eagles will be playing the Chiefs. The Chiefs rematch, beat the Bills. And I just have to say, sweet Josh Allen, my heart goes out to the Bills fans, our listeners. We know we have some dedicated Buffalo listeners out there.
Fran
My heart, Kansas City.
Ria
My heart. Oh, of course, Kansas City. But my heart doesn't go to them. They're in the Super Bowl.
Parvati Shallow
They've won enough.
Ria
I'm happy for them. But the Bills fans, I felt like I really had a connection to Buffalo this, you know, this past fall when we went, I threw a big B on my chest, Buffalo sauce. So I felt like I was one of them. And I felt really bad for Josh Allen watching, you know, his post game interview. And he's like, in order to be the champs, you gotta beat the champs. And he just got this like sad puppy dog face on. And I'm like. And I just felt for the Bills fans, you know.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
As someone who loves Buffalo, I.
Fran
No, I definitely feel you on that. It's tough when there's. It's just like. It's like the boogeyman. Like it's just every time it's like the playoffs are all around. They just can't.
Ria
And they always have to play them. Yeah.
Fran
And they be that they'll. They beat them. They've, you know, beaten them in the regular season. But when it comes to the playoffs, it's just like a whole he's situation in the playoffs.
Parvati Shallow
Right. What isn't that this he's owing four against.
Fran
Yes.
Parvati Shallow
That's tough.
Fran
That is correct.
Ria
You know, I saw. This is a. You know the sports.
Fran
We love Josh.
Ria
The sports takes come out. But I saw videos of the comparison when the Bills beat the Chiefs in the regular season and Mahomes was like, that was the wildest call I've ever. Whatever. When he said, you know when he hugged Josh Allen after the game. Cuz he was mad they lost. And then this one is just Josh Allen giving Patrick Mahomes a nice hug, saying nothing about the game. You know, very respectful.
Fran
Very, very respectful. Man. I love Josh Allen but you know that's.
Ria
He's got that fire in him. You know, he wants to keep winning. So can, you know, can you blame them?
Fran
No. I mean a rematch is crazy. I like a 3P is that is very hard to do. So we'll see what happens. I think that, I think this Eagles team is way better than the Eagles team of two years ago that they played. Saquon is just such a difference maker, you know, I love that. I just, I just. God love him.
Ria
Let me tell you.
Fran
God love him. First time he touches the ball, he scores. It was unbelievable. Right into our end zone that we were at almost fell over.
Ria
Going from seeing Saquon out at a club was a year ago, two years ago.
Fran
It's a while ago.
Ria
It was a while ago.
Fran
A while ago now maybe two years ago.
Ria
Never did I think that we would be like sitting here and it's like Saquon is the savior of the Eagles.
Fran
I mean I didn't think it would be like this at the beginning of the season. Yeah, it's crazy. You know, when you're on a team that's like he's on the Giants. Just like not Eagles fans are never going to be like, oh yeah, like we'll give Saquon that kind of respect. He's on a divisional rival team. He comes over and first season right to the Super Bowl.
Ria
I want him to get his ring.
Fran
I mean, he deserves it the season. He will most likely. He's only. It's like 30ish yards away. He will most likely break the record for the most yards, running yards in a season, regular season and postseason record, which is like, it's like almost 2500 yards. It's like, I think the number I saw was like 24, 70 something and he's like 30ish away from that, from that number right now. To have the, to break that record, which is crazy.
Ria
That's crazy.
Fran
Crazy. Ugh. God. Jalen had an amazing game. He had a fantastic pre game outfit. Did you see it?
Ria
I did.
Fran
Oh my God. He's handsome.
Ria
He really is.
Fran
Gosh, he really is. He is one handsome, handsome man.
Ria
Yeah, it's like you get like, you know.
Fran
No. And it's like. And then when, when you catch a good like sincere Jalen smile, it's like, ooh, goosebumps. Just.
Ria
You can feel it.
Fran
He is a handsome man. And he was lighting his cigar and his locker was very MJ esque. It was very cool. Very, very cool. But yeah, I mean, back to the Super Bowl. Back to the Super Bowl. I don't know what I'm like now. I'm so nervous. I'm like, what am I gonna. I got. I gotta.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
I gotta get my ducks in order here. You do.
Ria
So you're going to New Orleans for the dozen. Yeah, you are already going for the dozen. But now you're gonna be staying for the week because you know the Eagles are in the super bowl, so why, why the frick not to stay there?
Fran
No, I know, I know. You know, I'm gonna have to ask somebody. Hey, coworkers, wanna work together? Wanna do something?
Ria
The end of the week, Here comes the one. You know the one thing that I get jealous about with the super bowl situation? The performers. Like, you're gonna see Kendrick perform with Sza, right? And that.
Fran
And like. Well, here. Well, let's, let's not. I mean, I don't have tickets. I don't have tickets.
Ria
But you always find a way there.
Fran
I know, but I'm just saying, like.
Ria
You don't have tickets.
Fran
I don't have tickets.
Ria
But at this point, I'm assuming you'.
Fran
I would like tickets to, to get to me somehow. And my family want. My parents actually, I think want to go right to the game as well. So it'd be really cool if we could all go together.
Ria
I'm just saying, because you've ended up there every time, so, like.
Fran
Well, not every time. I didn't go the one in Minneapolis, which was.
Ria
Oh, right, right. But you went there last time, so I just assumed you'll be there.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
You got to see Rihanna.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And now you may possibly get to see Kendrick.
Fran
Right. And I'm not gonna lie. Like, this is gonna bother you. I'm like, okay.
Ria
No, I know. And I know that's how you feel about some cool.
Parvati Shallow
Like, I think it's gonna be sick.
Ria
I think it's gonna be sick, and I think you're gonna be like, this is sick.
Fran
Sza Sizza's, like, incredible. Yeah. Yeah. That one excites me a little bit more.
Parvati Shallow
And you don't think he'll have another surprise performer?
Ria
I. I don't know what. We were talking about this last night, and, like, I just can't see him bringing out Lil Wayne because they have one song together. It's Mona Lisa. That's not a song you perform. Perform at the Super Bowl. And I also think after the drama, I don't think Lil Wayne would want to just be brought out as, like, a.
Fran
Perform.
Ria
Like, a special guest. I think he would want to actually perform the entire thing. So I don't think that. I don't know if Tyler Crater would come out for, like, Tyler Crater.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
But he doesn't scream super bowl to me. Tyler the Creator.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
I don't think he'd excite that many people.
Ria
No, I. I mean, Tyler Crater is such a specific, specific crowd.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Remember at Tyler the Creator's concert when he brought out Drake in the crowd? Booed like that. You know what I mean? Like, it's. It's not like, a commercial.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not halftime. Right? Halftime has to be.
Ria
It's got to be a little commercial.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
Ria
But that will be fucking sick.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And you know what, though? I'll enjoy watching it on television anyway. Crank that volume all the way up.
Parvati Shallow
Performances are better on TV than at the. Like, as you remember, like, a lot of them. It's not, like, made for the stadium, like, half the stadium.
Ria
It is made for TV.
Fran
100%. I felt that way. I mean, even Rihanna in the stadium was amazing. But I remember watching it, watching it back, and it just has a much different. It has a totally different effect. You can crank that. Sometimes you're looking at your seats like, yeah, she's like, this big.
Parvati Shallow
You Know Beyonce did her thing like a few weeks or like in December if you're not. You wouldn't see her like walking out on a horse like all that stuff. Like.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what?
Ria
That's one of the best super bowl performances for me still. And I just watch it every once in a While. Is beyond St. Bruno Mars, like when they like battle each other.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Ria
Like that was.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
That was epic.
Fran
Yep. That was really, that was really, really good.
Ria
But yeah, super excited for you.
Fran
Yeah. Chiefs.
Parvati Shallow
No pun intended.
Fran
I know everyone was super. Super Bowl. Oh yeah, that one.
Parvati Shallow
That was good.
Ria
It's like a common word.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
You know what I mean?
Fran
For exciting.
Ria
Like it's a common word.
Fran
Different this year because you know, now I'm. Now. And now they're playing against Taylor Swift. She wasn't around two years ago. She's. I'm sure she'll be there again.
Ria
She's got the luck on her side too.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, they always do. She's. She's back on the field. Everybody was looking at all the videos and pictures of them canoodling on the fields again.
Ria
Of course. So cute as always.
Fran
She seemed very excited. It was cute. There was one, I think it was Mahomes when he scored and then had the all time worst attempted spike. Attempted spike.
Ria
Awful.
Fran
They showed the box and it was very cute. It was like Taylor had one arm around Donna, one arm around her mom is very sweet.
Ria
That is nice.
Fran
Nice.
Ria
And it's crazy that their moms look a lot alike.
Fran
They, they do.
Ria
Sometimes I'm like which mom is she.
Fran
With similar, similar vibes.
Ria
Similar vibes going on for sure.
Fran
100%.
Ria
You think when they met each other they were like, yeah, yeah, we're going to get along.
Fran
I think it's like that's one of the many reasons why it, why it all works. And I, I will say love, I'm so hot and cold with some of these outfits. The like the Chanel outfit from whether it was. Was that last week or two weeks ago. Last week maybe. Loved that this outfit, not so much for me. Not so much.
Ria
It actually felt like Travis esque. Like with the, with the like designer.
Fran
Print all over Logomania.
Ria
Like yeah, like a lot of logo. I feel like Travis, like it reminded me of something of Travis would wear.
Fran
I just like cannot get behind anymore. And Taylor loves this look and she always has and I appreciate her dedication to the look. But like the tights with the lace up boots, just like ankle boots. It's just never, it's never gonna be a look I love. It's her look, you know, it's. Yeah, it is a little like witch.
Ria
Like, it's her look. It's her go to.
Fran
I did like, I liked the hat. I thought the hat was very cute. I just watched her, but I don't know that she had to do her little pop of red. And some people thought she was wearing the same skirt that she wore to last year's AFC championship game, which I can respect that 100% because sometimes you gotta match. I've been wearing my same Go Birds sweatshirt, crew neck. Every playoff game I've worn it. And yesterday I was like, well, I. It's. It was one of my layers. Like, I had it on.
Ria
Wear it.
Fran
If you go, yeah, 100. You gotta wear it.
Parvati Shallow
All the people posting pictures now of Taylor and Eagle stuff from like years ago.
Fran
Yeah, look. What's, what's.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah, you can't blame her. For years.
Fran
No, I mean, now she's in love. She's got a boyfriend that's a superstar.
Ria
I don't think she was ever this dedicated. Like, I know she sang about the Eagles one time. I don't think she was this dedicated Eagles fan. Like, I think she rooted for the Eagles because that's where she's from or whatever. And her dad was an Eagles fan. And then she probably didn't give a shit about football really. And then she starts dating Travis Kelsey. She's gonna root for. She's obviously gonna root for the Chiefs. Now the real question is, who the fuck does Jason Kelce root for?
Fran
Yeah, I. Funny enough, I think J. It'll be interesting to hear what they say on New Heights this week, but I think Jason will still lean Eagles. And I think that also has to do with Kylie.
Ria
Like, Kylie's rooting for the Eagles 100%. Like, there is no way Kylie's rooting for Chiefs to win three years in a row. And she's a dedicated Eagles fan.
Fran
They're all massive Eagles fans. I think, I mean, look, it helps that they have won back to back super. The Chiefs back to back Super Bowls and beat them two years ago. Where it's like, I think you can have the argument of Jason being like, I think I might root for the Eagles on this one. Like, I don't know, it would be.
Ria
Good banter too, for the podcast.
Fran
Yeah. And it's. It's. I'm sure, like, I'm sure he'd be happy for his brother to. Three peat. That's like insane. But at the same Time. It's like, not like his first Super Bowl.
Ria
Yeah.
Guest
If he's never.
Parvati Shallow
If he had never won before, you know?
Fran
Exactly. That's like. Then it'd be like, oh, I couldn't root for your brother to win his first Super Bowl. It's like, no, he's got plenty now.
Ria
It's like, okay, this is third one.
Parvati Shallow
In the Super Bowl.
Ria
Yeah, right. Exactly. Exactly. I love that little banter for the pod.
Fran
Yeah, I think. I think there will be. For sure. For sure.
Ria
Little pod banter, Noah.
Fran
Everyone's like, what jersey is he going to wear? What's he going to show up to with the game? All the whole things. Everything. Yeah. Yeah.
Ria
Noah, how is your weekend? The big. The big dog meet and greet and people are bringing signs for you. People are flying out for you. What happened? What happened?
Parvati Shallow
Movement.
Ria
You started something.
Parvati Shallow
I know. There were people messaging me like, oh, my God. You didn't say how hot it was going to be here. Like all this. I'm like, hey, you didn't.
Ria
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
I'm happy that I convinced you.
Ria
Didn't force people to go. Did you get down on all fours and let people pet you?
Parvati Shallow
No.
Fran
Maybe I should have the breeds.
Parvati Shallow
Oh, my God. Yeah, I was. I mean, someone running like one of the stations came up to me with her dog.
Ria
Please pet.
Fran
Please pet him.
Parvati Shallow
I mean, it was great. Like, it always is. I feel like every year it gets even more crowded somehow.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
I gotta stop talking about it.
Fran
Yeah. Seriously, it's your fault. Right?
Ria
Right.
Fran
I love seeing those little pugs in their little costumes.
Parvati Shallow
Oh, y.
Ria
How many views on your story?
Parvati Shallow
It did.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
You know, it always does.
Fran
Well, Numbies.
Ria
Big numbies this weekend.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah, they're, you know, a lot of slide insolid. A lot of responses, you know? Yeah. No, I always feel bad for the dogs that, like, there's too many dogs to post, so then I have to like, narrow it down. I'm like, who's getting cut from this?
Ria
It's hard.
Parvati Shallow
And people are like, where are the Frenchies and all that. I'm like, frenchies have never done it for me. I don't know why Frenchies aren't. They don't.
Fran
I love a Frenchie.
Ria
They don't touch your soul.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah.
Fran
You're a big dog guy.
Parvati Shallow
I do love big dogs, but I like some small dogs. No greater Swiss amount of dogs again.
Ria
Yet again.
Parvati Shallow
I mean, some bullshit.
Fran
I mean, I don't know what your mom, like, I don't know how your mom hasn't jumped up.
Parvati Shallow
No, I know but then I also.
Fran
Think I'm like, Murray is the picture perfect. Like, we gotta get Murray in to.
Ria
Meet the breeds next year.
Fran
That's what I'm saying.
Parvati Shallow
Part of me is like, he would have so much anxiety.
Fran
Would he?
Parvati Shallow
Sometimes I feel bad. Cause sometimes I'm like, wow, this is like a crowd of 50 people for, like, however many hours.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Parvati Shallow
The whole weekend. Like, these dogs are just.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
Some. I don't know. Sometimes I back off. I'm like, oh, he needs some space.
Ria
Yeah. It's true. I feel you.
Fran
Place for them to, like, go take a little break.
Parvati Shallow
I'm sure that they do, but the break is, like, they put them in a crate, like, right behind the table.
Fran
Right, right, right.
Parvati Shallow
I actually went because I went to the comedy show afterwards, and then I went home after that because I felt like I had been, like, cheating on Murray all day. So I had to go say hi to him.
Ria
How was I? Andrew Santino.
Parvati Shallow
He's great. He's funny. He's all. Yeah, he always kills it.
Ria
Where'd you see him?
Parvati Shallow
The Beacon.
Ria
Oh, nice.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah. And I had, like, the. The first row of the second level, which is, like, in my mind, if you're not in, like, the very front, like, the best seats in the whole place.
Fran
Because totally.
Parvati Shallow
Nothing is in your way.
Fran
Totally.
Parvati Shallow
But yeah, he was great. Also, like, nice thing about a comedy show is, like, it's over at, like, 9:30.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
The whole night.
Ria
Yeah. You do have. You do have room in the night. Yeah. I would love to see one of those guys, like, Like, Andrew Santino. I feel like it would be fun.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah, no, he's really good. And he, like, mixed in some, like, timely jokes. Luigi jokes.
Ria
Yeah, timely.
Fran
I laughed because I got a DM this on Saturday that was like, damn. You and Ria really said you had no plans this weekend to dinner at Carbone. Huh? We had. I. I had, like, the dinner at Carbone came out of nowhere. It came out of. Came out of nowhere at 6pm on Friday.
Ria
Crazy. So I had, like, a New York City bucket list restaurant weekend sort of deal. But Friday night rolled around, and we talked about some podcasts.
Fran
We.
Ria
We had no plans. And I was kind of sitting there and I said to Matt we were gonna, like, maybe cook. We really want to make braised. Braised short rib ravioli. So we were gonna maybe do that. And then I was like, why don't we go somewhere? And I haven't been wanting to, like, really go anywhere in, like, the past two weeks. Like, it's freezing And I'm like, whatever. And Matt was like, oh, you want to go somewhere?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
He's like, let's go somewhere. He's like, oh, let's make this happen. So I was like, I'm gonna go take a shower. Like, we'll figure it out. I texted you. You said you had reservations somewhere with Joe. I was like, oh, maybe we'll meet for drinks after. I think we're gonna head into the city and just find dinner somewhere. Matt comes storming into the. Into the. Into the bathroom while I'm in the shower. He's like, I got us a reservation at Carbone. Whoever we want, whenever we want to go, let's go. And I was like. I was like, what? I'm like, what are you talking about? He's like, I made it happen. I'm like, what the fuck? Where?
Fran
He's got a guy.
Ria
What?
Fran
Why? He's got a guy.
Ria
Got a connection somehow. And I. I said to Fran, and I'm like, I'm texting you. You didn't answer. Matt's like, I'm calling Joe. I'm calling Joe. He calls Joe. He's like, carbone, we're going to Carbone. He's got, like, this. All of a sudden, this new Persona has taken over where he's like. The connect guy was like, we're going to Carbone.
Fran
Joe and I were walking to drink, so my phone was in my pocket because it was cold and I didn't have my phone out. And Joe answers the phone, and he's like, oh, what, Carbone? What time? And I was like. I turned my head and looked at him. I was like, what? I'm like, who are you even talking to? He's like, it's Matt. I'm like, there, God. I was like, what? Yeah, and then.
Ria
And then you text me. You're like, yeah, that sounds amazing. Let's fucking go. Like, duh. Let's go to Carbon.
Fran
My dinner reservation, it was not. It, like, it was nothing special.
Ria
But let me tell you, up until we arrived at Carbone, yeah, I didn't think this reservation existed.
Fran
Right, right, right. And I thought. I thought the same thing, too.
Ria
And Matt, he played it off so cool, because the whole way there, he's like, no, we got it.
Fran
We're in.
Ria
We're in. I'm like, are we like, where did. What. What happened? And I'm like, what? What the fuck do you mean, we're in? We show up. He says his name. They're like, yep, you know, you'll be ready And I'm like, he's like. He's like. I gotta be honest, the entire way here, I was fucking sweating, thinking to myself, we're gonna show up and this reservation doesn't exist. And Fran and Joe canceled their other. Other reservation. But he really just reached out to somebody and he was like, I took a shot in the dark and I just reached out to someone and asked and it happened. And I'm like, that's awesome. So that the dinner was fantastic.
Fran
Dinner was delicious.
Parvati Shallow
Was that your first time?
Ria
Yeah, first time for dinner. I went there during COVID like lunch. Like, it wasn't the same menu, like, different. Different scenario. But first time inside, like eating dinner, absolutely delicious.
Fran
Great bread. Sneaking. One of my favorite things with this was the clams. The assorted baked clams. So good.
Ria
It was delicious.
Fran
Oh, man.
Ria
It was just a classic Italian thing.
Fran
Is like, I will say, like the spicy rigatoni. It's delicious. Yeah, but they. It's just done by so many places now. It's not like. And they definitely were like one of the first their. Their thing. But. And it is. It is very, very good.
Ria
It is.
Fran
But, you know, it's like you've had it. You've had it, right?
Ria
There's other things on the menu that.
Fran
Are other things I thought were really good.
Ria
It was so good, though. Great.
Fran
Caesar was delicious.
Ria
Yeah. Great night. Italian night. Wine filled, lots of fun.
Fran
Delicious espresso martini as well.
Ria
Delicious cinnamon on top. Nice stuff. And then the next day, we woke up lazy Saturday morning. We were like, why don't we go back into the city for lunch? There's this place I've been wanting to try, Hillstone, because apparently they have a great French dip.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
So we were being really lazy Saturday morning, like, really taking our time. We hadn't eaten yet and I was getting, like, slow to get ready, whatever. And by the time we even end up in the city, it's like 2:00.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Okay. We both of us still haven't eaten. We show up at Hillstone. I'm thinking. I've read online, like, if you show up to two people with no reservation, they usually could squeeze you in. We show up. No, it's.
Fran
It's. It's actually, it's been out of this world this week. The. Recently my friends have tried to go to where, like, you go to time. You try to put your name just to be on the wait list to sit at the bar, and they're like, nope. Waitlist full.
Ria
Yeah, they were like, the waitlist is full. Done. So I was like, oh, my God, it's crazy. So we get back in the car, and I'm like, we were gonna maybe go to S and P, which is good. Just a good lunch place. And then I'm looking at the map, and Don Angie comes up, and I'm like, so for those who don't know, Don Angie is a restaurant in New York City that is quite literally impossible to get into. You cannot get a reservation. If you just, like, walk in, they don't take you. It's a whole thing. But I looked online, and it said if you show up, like, a half hour before opening, then you. You have a high chance of getting in. Like, just sitting at the bar and getting food. So at this point, it's like now closer to like, 2:30. Between 2:30 and 3. They open at 3:30. So I'm like, you want to go to Don. You want to go to Don Angie? Try it out.
Fran
Like, we'll do.
Ria
But I said, listen, I'm at the point of being so hungry. So.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
That it's not gonna be fun in this car very soon.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
So Matt was like, all right, let's grab a hot dog on the street to hold us over. And he's like, this is ridiculous that we're gonna get a hot dog before we possibly eat Don Angie hot dog.
Fran
Boom.
Ria
But we'll get a little dirty water dog to hold us over.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
So we grab a hot dog on the street, we park right in front of Don Angie, get in line at 3:00, opens up at 3:30. Boom. Sat right at the bar.
Fran
Nice.
Ria
Fantastic. Fantastic meals.
Fran
How many people were in line?
Ria
There was only, like, six people in front of us.
Fran
Okay.
Ria
Not bad. And some of those people were really just trying to get reservations for later. Cause you can wait in line and ask for reservations for later. So only, like, two people in front of us actually sit down at 3:30?
Fran
Yes.
Ria
Who's going. Like, really? Who's going to eat at 3:30? Such an awkward time. Lucked out for us that we hadn't eaten yet, so we were starving.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And it's such a heavy meal, but it's. It's one of those places it's impossible to get into. Like, you try, you try, you try. You can't get into it. And I had people message me, being like, how'd you get in? I'm like, I like, how'd you get a reservation? I'm like, I did not. You have to wait in line half hour before it opens. And then you could possibly get in. But I went in with lower expectations because is one of those places, places that's really hyped up. So I was like, I know it's going to be good, but I don't, you know, I don't know if it's going to like blow me away. Which is fine. I'm just looking for a solid meal. It blew me away. I thought it was really fucking fantastic. The buffalo milk carameli, which is like a buffalo milk ricotta ravioli with like a brown butter sage sauce. But the brown butter sage like sits for a long time. He told me the guy, because the bartender was talking to me about it. It's not like a. The taste is something I've never tasted before. It was absolutely incredible. One of the best pasta dishes I've ever had in my life. The lasagna was amazing. The dessert incredible. I bought the cookbook because I was like, I got to learn how to make this stuff because this is just incredible.
Fran
It is. It is really, really good.
Ria
But it was such a. It was such a solid meal and it was like a. A New York City restaurant bucket list weekend. You know, living in New York my whole life and having gone to these restaurants, which. It was a great weekend for New York City.
Fran
Hell yeah.
Ria
You know what I mean?
Fran
It's amazing.
Ria
Yeah, Love it. Good stuff.
Fran
Love it.
Ria
Good Italian food weekend. Yeah.
Fran
What a weekend.
Ria
Yeah, it was. It was a solid. It was a solid ass weekend. I got the bouncy house booked. Different one though. It's pink and has a slide.
Fran
Amazing.
Ria
And it's cute and I love it. Hopefully it shows up.
Parvati Shallow
I don't know.
Ria
It's a sketchy website.
Fran
No, it'll be there.
Ria
I assume all bouncy house websites are sketchy.
Fran
100%. I actually never seen a well put together website for a bouncy house.
Ria
Never. So yeah, yeah, I'm excited to go. I'm excited to get into February.
Fran
So true. So true.
Ria
All right, all right.
Fran
February.
Ria
It is February soon. Right around the corner.
Fran
Back to the Super Bowl.
Ria
There she blows. All right, let's get into the rest of the show. We will be talking about Timothy Shalab on Saturday night live. First round of Grammy performers were announced. We also have an interview with Parvati Shallow, reality TV legend and we have weekly watch reports. So let's get into the topics.
Fran

Timothy Chalamet back on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. His third time. He's gonna be a five timer very soon. Whose third time on Saturday Night Live and the first time I left at Saturday Night Live in a while. I have to be honest from start to finish. Well, I fell asleep like before. It was almost done. I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, it got late. Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
It was like I was still in a food coma. From John Angie. I thought he was fantastic. He's. He's so funny. Like he should be a cast member.
Fran
He was. He. I did see a lot of people being like, is he just like so charming and funny or worthy? You know, it's like, it's so fair. But I thought he was fantastic. I thought his monologue was great. You know the jokes about losing out and these on these big awards. Some sketches are unsavable.
Ria
Are for sure.
Fran
No, for sure.
Ria
Some of them I'm just like after watching the SNL documentary which we'll talk about on weekly Watch report and the thought and everything that went into like the early years of SNL. Even early to, you know, 2010s.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Compared to Now I'm like, what is. What has happened? Why? Why? How are these sketches making it through? They. The AI sketch.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah. It went on for so long.
Ria
Was so bad.
Fran
Which one was that?
Parvati Shallow
Was it the teacher and Timothee Chalamet where they were?
Fran
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ria
That one was so bad.
Fran
Yep, yep. I did like the.
Ria
The med cast.
Fran
I liked the exercise one.
Ria
Exercise one was hilarious.
Fran
I thought the exercise. Exercise one was great. I also really liked the coffee shop one was good.
Ria
He was good in that too. The one without him, the med cast I thought was very funny.
Fran
Ye.
Ria
Yeah, that was podcast.
Parvati Shallow
That was funny.
Ria
That was really funny.
Parvati Shallow
Good idea.
Ria
Really good idea. The dog won horrendous. Like so bad.
Fran
Oh man. I mean then there's like some. Is just like it is. It is going to make people laugh cuz it's so ridiculous. But like when he was. Did you catch someone at the end where he was the doctor?
Ria
I saw it online.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Y. Yeah. You know, just farting in the person's face.
Ria
Yeah. Not my forte. Not my forte. I don't want to see Timothy in that way. In my mind. He doesn't poop.
Fran
Yeah. Oh, man. And then he performed as Bob. Like not as Bob Dylan, but he performed Bob Dylan songs. Definitely not his more well known stuff.
Parvati Shallow
That was shocking to me because I think at least I went in being like, well, he's gonna play songs that he played in the. Those songs weren't in the movie.
Fran
No, he like. Apparently Timothy plays some of his more obscure songs. Songs that he. Which is fair because I actually did. I was like, I don't know what he's singing.
Parvati Shallow
But also he wasn't like fully in character. Like he. He sounded like Timothy singing Bob Dylan songs. Which is different from the movie where he sounded like Bob Dylan singing.
Ria
Right.
Fran
Well, the second one I felt like he sounded more like Bob Dylan.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah, he had like a little toying. Yeah, yeah, A tiny bit. But it was still like he wasn't like fully impressed.
Ria
He's probably out of it. You know what I mean? Like he's being Timothy right now, so it's probably hard to jump back into.
Fran
I love a little Adam Sandler cameo to do.
Ria
Shout out to Nikki Glazer for making that happen. You know what I mean?
Fran
Love it.
Ria
Would that happen without Nikki? Who's to say? So yeah, Timothy's great. He's hilarious. But SNL as a whole, you know, is never gonna be like what it. Or maybe they will one day, but it's just Tough. It's really hard. But the exercise one was cracking me up and he's like, ladies, if you got a tip on in, we're gonna.
Fran
Push that shit up an extra inch.
Ria
The Jimmy Carter.
Fran
Oh, I love that. Rubbed. That rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
Ria
Really?
Fran
Yeah. Yeah.
Ria
I was like a good risk.
Fran
Comedy wise.
Ria
Yeah, I think comedy wise, snl, they don't really push the envelope too far anymore. And I thought that that was like.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
You know, one way to do it.
Fran
No, I. I agree. That was a funny. That was a funny character. Yeah, that. That character was great. So. No, it was. I was laughing.
Parvati Shallow
I think the Oscars are missing out. Missing out on not having him perform. If that's not gonna happen, like now, like, why not have Timothy perform as Bob Dylan? Have. Have Ariana Grande go up there and sing?
Fran
Because then they'd probably have to have the Emilia Perez performances and that would be a disaster. Yeah, because I mean, they're. They're not. Not like those songs aren't nominated for anything.
Parvati Shallow
No, I know. I'm just saying it's like he's Perez. I think he's has a good chance of winning. It's like.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Do you think he has a good chance of winning?
Parvati Shallow
I think, yeah.
Ria
I feel like Adrien Brody will win, I guess.
Parvati Shallow
Like, I didn't see that.
Ria
Yeah, I don't think I've never seen it, but I just like have this feeling that like three and a half hour film Oscars, Adrien Brody.
Parvati Shallow
I just feel like this is their. This is the Oscars. Time to get it right with Timothy and not do what they did to Leonardo where he goes his whole career and people are like, how is he still not one? It's like, give it to him now. Not for like when he wrestles a bear. And it's right.
Ria
Because when he won for the Revenant.
Parvati Shallow
It was just like.
Ria
It was like, well, he has to win now.
Parvati Shallow
But like he had more deserve. I feel like. But yeah, I haven't seen. I don't know. Yeah, I haven't seen Adrian Brody, so I can't. I'm sure he was good.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, I know.
Parvati Shallow
Like, although. AI right.
Fran
I mean, I don't know. I think some people are not. I don't know if it hurts that not like a complete unknown was well received, but some people didn't love like.
Parvati Shallow
The whole movie, but like, this has his performance.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
Every movie sound like aren't great.
Fran
No, I agree. I mean, at the end of like Zoe's El downey like, is. She's probably gonna watch best Actress. I mean, she. She's like the favorite to win best Actress.
Parvati Shallow
Like, I just keep that one supporting.
Fran
Supporting actress, which is just.
Parvati Shallow
How did SNL not do a skit about Amelia Perez? Like, they should have made fun of that. Yeah, it's actually, like, hard because that scene where they're singing, it already feels like a skit.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep, yep. It definitely. It definitely does. I think Kylie joined for some after party stuff.
Ria
Yeah. She was in the audience at snl. Some people got some shots of her. I think she sat, like, higher up.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
But you know that Timothy Shaman, he'll get me to tune into anything.
Fran
I was like, oh, really true.
Ria
My whole day I was like, Tim, when we were.
Fran
And like, we were all watching live, which I know we were like, doesn't happen often. Like, we were all. It was. We were all really watching Saturday Night Live. We were there locked in. Also very cool. Marcelo, like, Marcelo has been wearing. He wore it last, I think maybe in a sketch last week. And then towards the beginning of the show, there was a T mobile commercial with Kenan and him, and he's wearing one of my brother's necklaces from his.
Ria
So cool.
Fran
He has some, you know, jewelry brand line, part of the bigger brand that my parents and him do together in his JB3 line where he has his sunglasses and he's also been doing jewelry and it's like a really cool beaded necklace. And we're watching the commercial. I was like, oh, my God, he's so. That's the necklace.
Ria
Rocking the necklace.
Fran
Very cool. Very cool.
Ria
I like Marcelo because of his voice. He has a cool, voicey voice that I find to be interesting.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
I could, like, listen to him talk and joke. I find it to be interesting.
Fran
But he's very funny.
Ria
I wanted him and Timothy to do another rap, but I know, I know they didn't. I know that made me sad, the baby.
Fran
I feel like they could have done more together.
Ria
I know. I was disappointed by that.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Didn't happen. But yeah, classic Timothy. We'll watch him do anything. Moving on. The first round of Grammy performers were named. Sabrina Carpenter is a big. This a big time Grammy performance, let me tell you. For all these people. Sabrina Carpenter, Charlie xcx, Chapel Roan, Billie Eilish, Benson, Boone and Dochi, which, I mean, fantastic lineup. Like, I don't know who else I would like. That is a great lineup.
Fran
Did you say Shakira?
Ria
No, I didn't see Shakira.
Parvati Shallow
There's More than that. Yeah.
Fran
Shakira, Charli, xcx, Benson, Boone, Doji Ray, Teddi Swims.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah.
Fran
Teddy. We're like, yay. Yep. Yep. And then it says more artists will be announced in the coming days.
Ria
That's sick. Like, that is a great lineup for the Grammys.
Fran
I know it is. I mean, they got. Ugh. I'm. I think I will be so disappointed. No one else. It's probably the same way you feel if there isn't get Beyonce and Miley on that.
Parvati Shallow
Did you see, though, that there was a commercial last night where there were, like, Grammy special appearances and Beyonce and Taylor Swift were in it? Apparently, like, in the commercial.
Fran
Oh, really?
Parvati Shallow
I know Beyonce. I think it was Taylor Swift too.
Fran
I know, but they're nominated, so maybe it's just because they'll, like, they'll be.
Guest
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
Beyonce set to attend 2025 Grammys.
Fran
Yeah. Well, I mean, set to attend. Of course they are.
Parvati Shallow
20, 20, 25.
Fran
2025.
Ria
2020, 20, 2025.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah.
Fran
Like, of course they're gonna, like. Yeah. They're nominated. They're gonna be there.
Parvati Shallow
It's just such a miss if they. If we never get alive. Beyonce and Miley.
Fran
I couldn't agree more. I couldn't agree more. This is the place to do it.
Ria
It would be.
Fran
It really would be the place to do it. But, yeah, it's a really good lineup, and it's fantastic. And that's kind of what we expected.
Ria
Right.
Fran
Going into it, it was like, look, the. The. The girls had such an amazing year that you got to get them on the Grammy stage.
Ria
It's gonna be incredible. I'm so excited for the Grammys.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah. That's the commercial said Beyonce. Taylor Swift joined Sunday, and a very special guest. Is that Miley?
Ria
Ooh. Yeah.
Fran
But it's not.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
I hope they do it. I hope Beyonce performs. When was the last time Beyonce performed at the Grammys?
Parvati Shallow
At the Grammys?
Fran
Yeah. Like, I wonder. I'm sure she's obviously done it, but I'm just like, has it been, like.
Parvati Shallow
A really long 2017, it looks like. Is that really 2017?
Fran
2017 is.
Ria
It's gotta make sense. I got.
Fran
It's a while ago.
Ria
I don't remember her doing it in recent years.
Fran
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Right? Like, so I don't know. Fingers crossed. I really hope that happens.
Ria
Me too.
Fran
I really, really hope that.
Ria
Oh, I'm so excited for Teddy.
Fran
I know.
Ria
Can't wait to watch a magical human sing.
Fran
I know. He'll you know, probably do lose control. Be beautiful.
Ria
Oh, it'll be gorgeous. That's fantastic.
Fran
Love it.
Ria
All right, well, that wraps up the topics.
Fran
All right.
Ria
All right, let's get into the weekly watch report where we talk about the things we watch this week. Weekly watch port on Monday. Weekly watch port on Monday. Weekly watch port on Monday. Weekly watch port on Monday. A, A, A, A, A, A. All right, let's get into the things we watch this week. Okay, where did I write this down? All right, let's start off. I watched Anora.
Fran
Okay.
Ria
I thought it was really good. Solid. I don't know if I love. I don't know if I loved it as much as, like, everybody else did, but I thought it was really good. I'll give it a B plus fair.
Parvati Shallow
You think she could win?
Ria
I do.
Parvati Shallow
You know what? To me.
Ria
Oh, right.
Fran
Yeah. I don't. I don't know. I don't know.
Ria
When you say, can they win? I'm like, yeah, they're nominated.
Parvati Shallow
Well, they're not, but, like, some people just have no shot. Also, the guy in it is nominated.
Ria
Yeah, she's really good. And I actually. She doesn't have any social media. I know you guys notice that. No social media, which I think is cool. No, it is cool. She wrote a note about Anora on, like, the production company. Like, they posted it for her because she doesn't have any social media, which is. Which is cool. Yep. Substance.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
I wanted to watch this full movie so bad. I wanted to really like this movie. I was so interested in this movie, but my stomach couldn't do it.
Fran
I. Yeah, it couldn't. Yeah, it's. Yeah, I. I understand.
Ria
Physically, I couldn't do it. Like, I don't know why it was making me. And it might have been because it was, like, right after the Don. Angie.
Parvati Shallow
Is that that, like, graphic?
Ria
Yeah. Yeah.
Fran
I tried to warn you of, like. I was like, no, no. See, Margaret, quality just, like, come out. Like Demi Moore's just body splits open. Like, it's like, it's really. And then you just see their body. Like, it's really. It is. It's grotesque.
Ria
It is.
Fran
It is grotesque.
Ria
And I was fully worn, and I knew that going in, but I thought, okay, you could do it for the fun.
Fran
What got you, like, what was like, your last try? I gotta turn it off.
Ria
The. The changing of the bodies. Yeah, the first time.
Fran
You know, it's also like, if you're not a needle per. Like, I mean, not. Nobody really is. I mean, I hope you're not a needle person. I don't think a lot of people are needle people, but there's a lot of needles, really.
Ria
There is. I always turn away when I say a lot.
Fran
And, like, needles going in when you're.
Ria
Like, ooh, well, let me just say when. When she's in the. And this is a really good movie. Yeah, it is. That's why I am almost mad.
Fran
But there's a point, like, it's. There's a point where you have to react that you. That they want people to have though, like, watching. They were like. They made it as grotesque as possible.
Ria
No, I could. I couldn't finish it. And, like, it was really good. And. And we were interested, but I literally, like, was getting nauseous, like, yeah, it's.
Fran
I don't blame you.
Ria
And I think it's just, like, the kind of you get. And usually I'm pretty. Like, I'm not.
Fran
It is not for the faint of heart with blood and stuff.
Ria
I don't really get, like, freaked out or anything. When she was in the doctor's office for the first time and he was touching her spine, and I was like, please do not tell me they're about to show him, like, putting a needle in her spine right now. And they did it. And I was like, oh, thank God.
Fran
Yep. Yeah. You had no idea what was coming.
Ria
And I had no idea what was coming. And I just. There also was something about the zoom in on Dennis Quaid's teeth.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
That really was, like, setting me over the edge. Like. Like. Like the. The move. The transferring of the bodies was and all that. The zoom in on Dennis Quaid's mouth constantly. I. I was like, I'm going to puke.
Fran
Like, he played that character, so he was really good.
Ria
Yeah, he was really good, too.
Fran
Y.
Ria
But, yeah, I don't even know. Oh, my dad texted me. Tell Fran congratulations. I see eagles. I think Fran.
Fran
Thank you. Thank you. I. I would. I. I would like to be synonymous with the eagles, you know, like, just when you see the eagles, you think, I see eagles.
Ria
I think, Fran. Same. It's hard to grade because I didn't finish it.
Fran
Yeah. Yeah, Yeah. I mean.
Ria
And I wouldn't say it's a bad movie. It's just.
Fran
I mean, to be honest, I think you just got it right. Did not finish.
Ria
Did not finish.
Fran
Did not complete. Incomplete.
Ria
Yeah. Write an incomplete grade for that.
Fran
Incomplete. She got an incomplete. I. Look, I don't blame you. It is. It's. It's a tough watch. I watched it by myself. For a reason. Because I knew Joe would not be able to watch it. Like, I was like, I can't. If I could. If I attempt to watch this with him, like, he will. He won't be able to do it. So.
Parvati Shallow
Guy.
Fran
I just had to watch it by myself.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah, it's. It's.
Ria
Yeah. I understand why it's nominated, though.
Parvati Shallow
I'm gonna watch it tonight.
Fran
You should. I mean, it's a good movie. It's a gross horror. Gross. Like, it's disgusting.
Ria
I understand why it's nominated. It is really good. It just. You have to be able to.
Parvati Shallow
Quailie is really good.
Fran
She's great.
Ria
She is.
Fran
Both of them are great.
Ria
They're both. Everybody is great in it. SNL documentary, all four episodes. Love.
Fran
I haven't gotten back to watching any of them.
Ria
I love you watch the only first one.
Parvati Shallow
I started the first one.
Ria
Do you guys remember when that cowbell sketch came out? What year was that again?
Parvati Shallow
I don't remember when that came out.
Fran
No, I don't think so.
Parvati Shallow
That must have been.
Ria
Why am I blanking on the year? I literally just watched Cowbell 2000.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Okay, so I don't remember it obviously coming out because I was fucking, what, three years. Three years old.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
But I guess I thought I came out later because my dad would always, always recite this sketch, like, growing up, always, like, I got a fever and the only prescription is more a cow. But, like, so I remember seeing this sketch and, like, my parents always laughing about and talking about it. There's a whole episode just about this sketch, and Jimmy Fallon says it's, like, the best thing he's ever been a part of because he was, like, one of his first sketches he was ever in, and he breaks. It's, like, the first time, you know, because Jimmy Fallon was known for, like, breaking and laughing in snl, which I love. I. Some people have.
Parvati Shallow
Like, it was funny when Lin Manuel.
Ria
Was like, yeah, I love that. Like, I think it's. It's like, adds an element, makes you laugh. It's like the giggles. You know, when you get, like. Jimmy Fallon compared it to, like, when you get the giggles in a classroom, but just 100 times worse, like, as you're on live TV. And so that was fantastic. I really loved that documentary. I would give that a B plus. I thought it was solid. I love knowing the inner workings, the auditions, how people get involved. Pete Davidson's audition looked horrendous, and he. He was watching it, being like, how did I get.
Parvati Shallow
People do it to an empty room. Like, that's crazy. Like what? Like audition.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Well, yeah. I mean, there are people in the room.
Parvati Shallow
Silence.
Ria
Yeah. They said they don't really laugh.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
That's like, a thing they talk about a lot is they did. They don't really laugh. So that has to be uncomfortable because you think you're bombing, but really, like, you make it through. Solid Love Island All Stars. Pretty solid, too. I'll give all. I'll give this a B. I'm enjoying it. Same Traders. Fantastic.
Fran
Good episode.
Ria
A solid A for Traders. Great episode.
Fran
Can we talk about it for a second? Like, what is Danielle doing?
Parvati Shallow
I mean, no sense.
Fran
I don't know. She's maybe one of the worst traitors ever.
Ria
It was really bizarre to throw Carolyn's name out there.
Fran
Really bizarre.
Ria
I didn't feel like it made sense.
Fran
If anything, I don't know why the strategy wouldn't be try. And I guess she just doesn't. She just thinks Carolyn's too much of a wild card.
Parvati Shallow
But, like, I feel like she's getting paranoid because Boston Rob got a trader out.
Ria
No, but now she's.
Fran
But I think it would be. I think you gotta try and take a shot at Rob or, like, try and do, like, work together with Carolyn and then maybe there's a way that you can get people on the Boston Rob scent and then you could. If you get him out, like, you could potentially recruit a new trader just because, like, especially having. If you are a traitor and you make it to the end and you win, you know, and then they're like. They're. They're. If there's any deliberations or whatever happens, like, Rob is gonna screw all them over, you know, so it's like her.
Parvati Shallow
During the challenge, like, was so weird where she was giving everyone shields.
Fran
I mean, every performance she's had has been really weird. So, I mean, they have got to be on to her.
Parvati Shallow
How did her name not get brought up by anyone?
Fran
Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. They were really stuck on Nikki. They were all really, really stuck on Nikki.
Ria
Poor Chrishell was, like, so upset about that. And then how about Tom being like, I respect it.
Parvati Shallow
I know you don't like me, but.
Fran
I know you don't like me, but.
Parvati Shallow
Did you say she after that? She was like, that makes me feel so much worse or something?
Fran
Yeah. Yeah. I was like, he has a great. Rubbing salt in the wound. You don't need to.
Ria
If you hear Tom Sandov telling you he respects a move you made, you're like, I made the wrong move.
Fran
I saw. I saw a funny post of someone being like, it quotes like, I'm really good at reading energy. Like, says said by the person who never guesses a trainer. Right.
Parvati Shallow
Like, it's just that Harry Potter line was so funny.
Fran
Oh, my God. He is. He. I mean, look, he's been entertaining because he has been a joke. Like, he's just. He has no idea what's going on. I saw a tweet. Tom Sandoval's reactions have been so funny because I think he actually thinks our people are murdered when they're.
Parvati Shallow
I saw people being like, he's playing the game, as if he's trying to find out if he's a traitor.
Ria
It's hilarious.
Fran
He has no idea what's going on.
Ria
No, he doesn't. It's incredible. I love Ciara on this show because I thought it was bullshit that they tried saying she was a traitor just because she, like, curses a lot.
Fran
I know that was.
Ria
And I was like, that's so bizarre. Like, what a bizarre. You know, I guess you're trying to find any. You know, you're trying to find any reason to call somebody out for being a traitor. Yeah, but, like, that's just how Sierra talks. Like, I don't know.
Parvati Shallow
I thought that was bizarre about Wes and Rob. And Wes kind of was like, immediately, like, I didn't see your name. I didn't see her name.
Fran
Yeah, Yeah. I mean, if you're Wes. If you're Wes, you don't want Boston Rob, like, wanting you out.
Ria
Let me tell you. We're watching a battle of the greats between west and Boston Rob. I was, like, biting my nails at tv. Like, what am I watching right now? My God. Wes and Boston Rob fighting. I thought I was like. It was like, you know, what is. Why am I playing? I literally was about to say something. We just blanked out. Fever. Fever Dream. Like, watching two of your favorite shows combined.
Fran
Combined?
Ria
Yeah. Like what? Like two heavyweight champs dueling it out.
Fran
No.
Ria
Incredible.
Fran
Totally. I felt bad for Nikki. Was a. That was a tough. That was a tough one. But it just. I don't think no matter what it was gonna be Nikki or Sierra, like, one. It, like, they had to. I don't think the Faithfuls were ever gonna drop the whole coffin thing of, like, oh, one of them's gotta be a trick, you know? Now I feel like maybe this will make them think that none of them were, but I don't know. Sierra's got not been fighting a lot.
Ria
So I think they're on to Boston Rob next. I don't know Derek's. Because now Derek's on.
Fran
Yeah. Like, I don't know how you can't be.
Ria
And if you're Derek and you're Wes and you're together, like.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
Sam said that. I think he's like, if you don't, like, after tonight.
Ria
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
Or something.
Ria
Yeah. Sam was like, I'm going for him next if he's not dead. So, yeah, I think Boston Rob might be next.
Fran
Did Sam vote for Rob?
Ria
No, he voted for Nikki.
Fran
Oh, he did.
Parvati Shallow
But he said if he wasn't dead, like, after that night.
Fran
Yeah, Right, right, right. That he made. Yeah, yeah. Yep.
Ria
Dylan Efron writing Gabby's name down. Love it. Lone wealth.
Fran
So random.
Parvati Shallow
I think he's kind of like. I know. Like, he's like. Has a big ego now. He's like, I know this game.
Fran
Right. He was feeling himself a little bit. He's like, I'm throwing out. I'm like, you know what? I just think it's Gabby.
Ria
Gabby was like, I'm dead. Like, it was.
Parvati Shallow
Did you see that post that Rob made about him and Dylan with the backwards hats?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah. Classic. Solid episode.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
And then the last thing I watched, which I thought was incredibly boring, was the. The dirty pop documentary on Netflix about the boy bands.
Fran
Oh, I didn't want. Yeah, I didn't, like. I didn't see that.
Ria
I watched most of it, but I was like, this is boring. I'll give it, like, a C minus.
Fran
Okay. Fair.
Ria
I also didn't grow up in the same time period as, like, NSYNC and Backstreet Boys and stuff.
Fran
Yeah. Yep.
Ria
You know.
Fran
Yep. Totally.
Ria
Like, obviously, I can appreciate it's just.
Fran
A little bit before your time, Right?
Ria
A little bit.
Parvati Shallow
I remember it on the radio.
Fran
No, for sure.
Ria
Cause I could appreciate the songs.
Fran
Yeah. Like, it wasn't. We were even. For me, I, like, I loved. I was more of an NSync gal, but I was young. Like, it's like when you're, like, you're still little. Like, it wasn't like we were teenagers going through full teenage heartthrob. No. Being obsessed with the Backstreet Boys.
Ria
It was in the 90s.
Fran
Yeah. And so with NSync, Justin Timberlake left.
Parvati Shallow
NSync in 2002, so.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Right. And NSync was also in the 90s. Like, I was born 1997, so it was just like, a little bit more.
Fran
I just remember getting, like, one of my first NSync CDs to play on my boombox. I was like, you know, seven. It's like, I was young. It was like Britney Spears and saying those were, like, the two. But it wasn't. But I wasn't. Like, the craze doesn't hit you the same because you're obviously, you're seven. Like, you're here. Like, you. The music is fun, but. Right.
Ria
Because I didn't grow to love Britney Spears until I was a bit older. Because Britney Spears was also just a tad bit.
Fran
Yeah, for sure.
Ria
For sure.
Fran
For sure.
Ria
Me. Because her first hit, Me Be Me One More time, was released 1998.
Fran
Yep.
Parvati Shallow
So she had her second win with, like, Womanizer. Remember that? Yeah, that whole thing.
Fran
Yeah. But, like, I.
Ria
You know, like, obviously, everyone grows to love Britney Spears totally. Whatever age. Totally. But I went to the.
Fran
I Went to the Circus tour.
Ria
Wow. Really?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
That's sick.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
So it's just a little bit before, like, my first CD was Lindsay Lohan Speak.
Fran
Right. Right.
Ria
You know, you guys were Now.
Parvati Shallow
Did you guys listen to the now CDs? I feel like we've talked.
Ria
No, I wasn't. A censored child.
Parvati Shallow
A what?
Ria
A censored child.
Parvati Shallow
What?
Ria
Because now had, like, the censored versions of songs.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
Yeah, I guess that's true.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
So many good songs.
Ria
Yeah, they did. That's it for me.
Fran
Okay. I'll give Love Island All Stars A. I'll give it a B plus. It's good. I'm enjoying it. I'm. I'm locked in. I think. I think Catherine. I hope Catherine finds somebody for her, because I think she's so cool, and I hope I'm not. I don't think I'm spoiling anything at this point, because I know I watch ahead of Peacock a little bit, but Katherine and Luca, I love their friendship. I think they're very, very sweet. I love to see, like, Grace came in. She's a great Love island love islander. I feel like she always ruffles some feathers, and she's stunning. So, like, everybody's gonna, like, have some. Have some interest, but they're putting in some good. They're putting in some good people. There's been some good established couples. It's been interesting to see Curtis and Ekinsu, like, maybe hit a little bump. I don't know. We'll see how it goes. But I think that was maybe Curtis's first glimpse into Ekinsu. Like, do we. I think I can. Sue might be a little nuts.
Ria
Do we think Akinsu is just, like, playing into the reality. Like, she's like, we need to fight.
Fran
Yeah. I don't know. I li think she's so entertaining. I love her, but, like, the way she handled the. The kissing stuff was like.
Ria
Well, that's why I'm like. Is like, is she just doing this.
Fran
Because she's like, right, right, right.
Ria
Need to have a fight.
Fran
Totally. Or like, she just. She was like, well, I saw what you did, so I just wanted to get back at you. It's like, okay. All right. That's the game we're playing. That's the game we're playing. But it's been good. Buffalo, everyone's favorite slot game, is live on draftkings casino. Hit the reels wherever and whenever to play for wild western wins. New players can play. Five bucks to get a spin on the mystery wheel for a shot at up to 2,000 in casino credits at draftkings. You can download the app and sign up with code chicks. So join the stampede with buffalo on draftkings casino. Now you guys are getting on the draftkings app. Draftkings casino. Playing some games. I know there's a lot of folks here that love those casino games. And now everyone's favorite slot game is live buffalo. Draftkings casino. Hit the reels wherever and whenever to play for wild western wins. Once again, new players can play. Five bucks. That's it. Five bucks to get a spin on the mystery wheel for a shot at up to 2000. 2000 in casino credits. Download the app. That's the draftkings app. Sign up with code chicks and join the stampede with buffalo on draftkings casino. Now the crown is yours. All the housewives so caught up on beverly hills once again. It's been, like. It's been fine. Give it a c plus, like, just chugging along, interested to see, you know, kind of what plays out more with dorit and kyle. Kind of a weird episode from kyle, I think. I think kyle's kind of lashing out because she does know that, like, dorit would be mad about a text that she had sent to. To pk. Like, I think kyle tried to spin the text in a way that, like, wasn't really that believable of, like, she said to pk, you know? You know, you could always talk to me, basically, like, I wouldn't say anything like. And she had. She had said that, like, oh, they. When they text, it's, like, not this serious. They send each other memes like, blah, blah, blah. I mean, that's like, dorit's gonna interpret that as you know. Oh, you can. Her being like, you can tell me something. I'm not gonna tell Dorit. You know, she tried to say. I was like, oh, I wouldn't tell. I wouldn't tell. Like, production, like the show, it's like, well, that doesn't matter. Like, what does that have to do with anything? So she is a little bit of. A Little bit of a spiral. Salt Lake City finale, part one. Great. I'll give it a. I'll give it a B plus. Because I feel like the. They always. Or reunion. I should say the reunion. It always ramps up and it's a three part reunion. So it's always interesting to see when the husbands get involved. I mean, they were arguing for like 10 minutes about whether Bronwyn, like, actually bought like a 4 million dollar necklace. And she was like, no, I bought a smaller version. And Lisa. And Lisa's like, well, the jeweler reached out. Like, Emma, I know Emma. And Emma texted me and said, you never bought the jewelry. And like, just like that. Just, you know, it's just. It's really. It's ridiculous, but it's. It is very entertaining. I caught all the way up on Real Housewives of New York because I saw people talking about the finale, that the finale was like a very heavy episode. And so I caught up and I watched and I made it all the way to the finale. And yeah, yeah, it was. It. It was heavy. I'm not quite sure. I'm not quite sure what Bryn was. Was thinking in. In that scenario. For everybody else that has been caught up and been watching it, I. My heart breaks for her because that is so terrifying to go through the. The scenario that. That she did. She opened up about being sexually assaulted and there were some comments made by UBA that like, she said, oh, maybe, like they were fighting and she said, oh, maybe you slept with somebody to get this job. And like, obviously that's gonna be very triggering for. For Bryn. But the other ladies didn't know about Bryn's experience, and Brennan kind of said it in a way later that night that made it sound like she had told UBA what she had been through and that UBA had still said those things.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
So everybody was really emotional crying. They were like, I can't imagine Uber would do. UBA lost her shit. Like, crying freaking out was like, I swear I didn't know. I swear I didn't know. And then apparently, like off camera, it had seemed that Brid maybe walked it back a little bit and was like, oh, well. I said, it. Like, while I was saying all these other things, like, maybe she didn't clock it. And then all the girls are like, all right, this is maybe a little fishy. So it's tough. I don't. I'm not sure what. What Britt is gonna say about that. When the. When the reunion comes around, it's. It's like. It's hard to. It's hard to give. Like, oh, my God. Drama. Like, it's. It's was. It was really heavy. Really heavy. I watched, like, the last six episodes, basically. It was like. Because that's how far I was. I was behind on it because it wasn't really that good. I'll give it a B. I'll say this last. Towards. Towards the end. No, that's. That's a little generous on C plus, maybe. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Special Forces correspondent reporting for duty. The last two episodes. Last two episodes. I will give a B. I thought they were good. Crazy what they put these people through. I know I said it every time, but they had to do, like, a gas. A gas chamber, basically, like that if they're. If they had gotten released into an area with toxic gas and they had to go in and, like, take their gas masks off and experience the full effect of it and, like, try and unlock a safe and get this out. I mean, people. Cam Newton took his mask off, tried to break down the door immediately to get out. And they did it in pairs. So, like, you're basically quitting on your partner that you're doing it to. Was like. Was not happy. Was not happy about that. Carrie Hart has been really good ex motocross guy, married to pink. Really, really good. And impressed with the. Impressed with the ladies. Christie Kyla Pratt, still crushing it. It's tough because, like, for somebody like Kyle, she's. She's failed basically every mission that they've had. But she's like, I gotta give her credit for still being there, you know? Like, that's. That's. That's still. Crazy Traders. I'll give an. A solid. Watch the Avicii documentary. Thought that was really well done.
Ria
Mm.
Fran
Like, really, really well done. So sad. But also, like, took me back to a time in my life that was, like, really just. I like experiencing all that. Like, I was just remembering those moments and those concerts, like, being there. And, like, I saw Avicii a couple times and it was just, like. Just really so great. And those. My. Those songs are just so fucking good. And what a talent. Like, I don't think I. You know, you fully realize all the work that goes into it and the ear and the talent that he had and just obviously so sad and how that all ended. But seeing, like, even the footage of him. So much. So much of him, really, that, like, I didn't know even if they had.
Parvati Shallow
And seeing Chris Martin and people like that. Yeah, like, in awe of him.
Fran
Yeah, totally. I'll give it an A minus. I thought it was really good. I watched Conclave, trying to get through some of the Oscar movies here and such, you know, not blow. Not blown away. It's. Yeah. A little boring. That's what it looks like, a little boring. Like, the last 30 minutes I thought was interesting. And honestly, a twist at the end that I was pretty surprised by. Did not see that coming. Ralph Fiennes is great in it. So I understand, like, his. Yeah, Rafe Fiennes is great. So I got. I understood, like, his. His nomination. It was very interesting because it is, like. Like, it's such an interesting premise, right, of, like, them deciding who's gonna be the next Pope. But this was obviously what I would think to be, I don't know, a little more progressive view the Catholic Church. I don't know what kind of battles they're having out when they. When they do have to find a new Pope. And I'm sure it is similar in some ways, but also, like, you know, there was, like, going behind people's backs, exposing potential, like, affairs to. To delegitimize people from getting the Pope nomination, all these things. So there's other things going on. That was. Was interesting, but I'll give it a B minus. Like, it was definitely the first hour. I was like, all right. I don't. This is moving slow. So that was that. The Wild Robot. A. Oh, my God. I talked about it a little bit last week. Fucking love this movie. Cried my eyes out. Great movie.
Parvati Shallow
Almost put that on, but then I was like, I'm not.
Fran
It's actually sad. It's streaming on Peacock now.
Ria
Oh, good.
Fran
So you can stream it instead of having to, like, rent it. Wish I knew that. Went on streaming, like, a day before I rented, a day after I rented. But that's okay. It is. It tugs. It just tugs at your heartstrings. It really does. And it's a great. A great story. Loved it.
Ria
Beautiful.
Fran
Yeah. Yeah. And that's. That's everything I watched.
Parvati Shallow
Okay. I watched Severance, I watched the finale of season one, and now I'm caught up. The first two episodes of season two. It's way better now. Like, I'm way More into it now, now. What's happening? Season two. I'll give it an A. Like, it is really good, solid, and, like, once you're, like, more attached to the characters and everything. I watched this movie called the Order that came out last year.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
With Jude Law, Nicholas Hull, about, like, this true story about these white supremacists and, like, the FBI trying to take him down. It was good. It wasn't, like, the best movie I've ever seen, and I feel like I've seen very similar movies to it. I'll give it a B minus. Jude Law is really good, and I feel like it's interesting to see him in this role. I feel like I don't really see him in, like, like, serious roles that often. And then I watched Traitors, episode five given a minus. Like, just solid. I'm very into it. I've actually been, like, skimming season two in. In between these new episodes because I'm like, I need to get Traders fix.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
I feel way more, like, attached to season three characters. Like, I. I'm way more into those. This cast, season two, I don't. Maybe it's just me. I don't, like, know a lot of these people, so I'm not really as into it.
Fran
It's a really fun show. Like, it's a great show to binge because week to week is. Is like. Like, it's. They kind of leave on cliffhangers and whatever. So you, like. You want to watch the next episode. So binging. It is like, you can.
Parvati Shallow
I, like, I wish it just all came out right.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
It's tough. Week to week. That's it. That's all I watch.
Fran
Wow.
Ria
Light week again for you.
Parvati Shallow
I did, like, start the first episode of snl. Didn't watch it. And then I started the first episode of this game. It's called Game 7 on prime, where each episode is a different Game 7 in sports history, which is cool. But I didn't finish them, so.
Fran
Yeah.
Parvati Shallow
Light week.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Spending time with the dogs.
Fran
Yeah. Yep. Yep. All right. All right.
Ria
That wraps up everything we watched. We are kicking off this year with a new partnership with our friends at Truly.
Fran
Let's go.
Ria
We got some truly hard seltzers in our hand right now. I got the mountain paradise in my hand, which is such a delicious flavor. The pear flavor.
Fran
Mm.
Ria
I love it. You're holding wild berry. Delicious. That strawberry lime can never, ever, ever go wrong with a strawberry lime. And truly hard seltzer is surprisingly light. It's refreshing. It's easy to Drink. And that's why you guys need to be drinking Truly hard seltzer. It's 5% alcohol in each can. We are stacked and ready to go with our Truly and we are super, super excited about this partnership.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Going into the new year, this is an awesome partnership. And so we're so excited to be working with our friends at Truly. This is what I love on the can, too. It says peak refreshment, which is what it is at Truly.
Fran
I.
Ria
Truly. There was no pun intended there, but I guess it just happened naturally. This pear favor is this pear flavor is just absolutely delicious. So right now, check out Truly things.
Fran
Coming up.
Ria
We do.
Fran
Really excited to be working with Truly, so stay tuned. It's going to be a packed year.
Ria
Yeah. Right around the corner with Truly. Stay tuned. Some fun things to announce, so find Truly at a store near you or visit Truly Hard Seltzer. Figure out where you can pick up some Truly.
Fran
All right. All right, everyone.
Ria
We are here with a very special guest. We are joined by reality TV show legend Parvati Shallow. You know her from Survivor Traders. And now Deal or no Deal Island. Welcome to the show, Parvati.
Guest
Thank you for having me.
Fran
We are so excited to have you. Like, you guys were just chit chatting before we started, but I feel like a lot of our life has been Survivor. A lot of Survivor talk of variations of different challenges and things like that. So I loved it because it's been cool. And I think people that have watched Survivor and are such big fans of you saw a little bit of you in Rio when she was going through the game.
Ria
If only. If only.
Fran
And I'm saying it was like the biggest compliment ever.
Ria
I mean, I found it to be the biggest compliment in the world.
Guest
Look, it's a new era. I say whatever version of Survivor that you're playing is very hard. And if you get to the end and then you win, you're a badass.
Ria
Thank you. I'll take it.
Guest
No matter how you get there and how you play, if you get to the end and win, give yourself credit for that.
Ria
Thank you very much. Well, you are the Survivor queen, the legend, and I've been so, so excited and happy to watch you on other shows as well. Like when you were on Traders, I was like, oh, my God, yes, she's on Traders now. Dealer, no deal island as well, which we're going to talk about all that. But I do kind of want to take it back from the beginning because you are releasing a memoir this year. Nice Girls don't win. Super. Super. Excited to read that. But you talk about your time and how you even got to Survivor in the first place, right?
Guest
Yeah.
Ria
Can you give us a little background on that and how you even got into reality tv?
Guest
Well, I grew up in a commune in Florida, and it was run by this very powerful female guru. So my upbringing had a lot of these subtleties that you find in Survivor around, like, power, coercive, control, manipulation, emotional manipulation, and like, kind of this, like, it was like a shadow world. And so I went to high school. I was like, I really am super competitive. I wanted to win anything I put myself into, but I wasn't the fastest. I wasn't, like, the best athlete, but I had endurance. And then I was like, what can I win? And we did superlatives. So one of the superlatives was friendliest, and I was like, well, that's my superlative. I can win that one. So I, like, played high school. Like, I played Survivor before I even knew Survivor existed. Then I go to college at Georgia and then move to la, and I was like, I just want to be on tv. I want to host a travel show, something like that. And I was in the circle of people. And one of them was a casting associate for Amazing Race, and that was when they were doing a lot of recruiting. Yeah, now they don't do that. Now they cast like, super fans of the show. But at that time, I was competing as an amateur boxer and a bartender. I was working as a bartender. Yeah. And so they were like, oh, that's cool. Like, you have a cool job. Like, you're really friendly, really flirty. Let's put you on reality tv. So I went for Amazing Race and we got caught at the finals, but then they remembered me and asked me to do Survivor. So I went into the casting process for Survivor, and it was wild. Yeah. It was a completely different era.
Ria
What was the process like for Survivor? Like? How many rounds did you go through until you finally found out you were on?
Guest
I had to move into the Doubletree Hotel in Santa Monica, and I do write these stories in my book. So it's like a bird's eye view.
Ria
Right, Right.
Fran
Love it.
Guest
So you'll get to a deep dive of these stories, but this was when they used to fly people out. So they'd have, like, 40 people staying at the Doubletree Hotel in Santa Monica. And we were just locked in there for, like, a week. And we just have to be available for meetings with producers. Jeff Probst, Mark Burnett, all the executive producers would be there and they would have us all get. Get together in this conference room and watch episodes of Survivor. I'd never seen it before and think because they were recruiting so many people, a lot of people hadn't seen the show and didn't know what we were signing up for. So there was like, a training. I felt like we were joining the CIA or something. They're training us up.
Ria
Initiation.
Guest
Yeah. A little hazing. And then we had this, like, barrage of psychological exams to take, medical tests to do, and then they would just like, randomly be cutting people throughout the process. So. And also for me, Rob has a funny story, too, about his time in the hotel. So you should ask him when you talk to him. But mine is we weren't allowed to leave, but I lived in Santa Monica, right? And I was like, I got a job. I had a job working. I was a bottle service girl at the nightclubs in Hollywood. So I would make like a thousand bucks cash a night. And I had to work one night, and I was like, I'm gonna go. So I had my friend come pick me up and I like, thr. Like a towel over my head and ran out and jumped in her car and she sped me off to work. And they called me for an interview. When I was gone, it was like 9:00 at night. I was like, you guys can't be calling me now.
Fran
Too late.
Guest
So then the next day they called me and they were like, we know you left and you don't even want to be here, so you can go pack your bags and go. And I was like, oh, man. So I guess this means I can't be on the show. And they're like, nope, you did it to yourself. And so I left. I went home and I thought I was done. Like, my chances were done. And then they called me, like a week later, and they're like, we still want you.
Fran
Yeah. Yeah.
Ria
They're like, no, wait. This girl is actually perfect for tv. If she's gonna break the rules and run out of here, we need her on tv.
Guest
Exactly.
Fran
Yeah. That is the kind that you do. Kind of need to test how people react in those situations too. Like, you find out, I'm sure, a lot about the contestants or possible contestants of like, oh, well, she tried to leave. Like, maybe she'll try and cross over some rules or loopholes and think about that. And you. You need players like that. So what would, like, if you're kind of your first experiences were with Survivor, the show was during that time. Like, did you really get to watch a full season before you kind of went into the game, I did not.
Guest
Watch a full season.
Fran
Wow.
Guest
But Lynn Spillman was the casting director at the time, and she was like, you're like Stephanie Lagrosa. So watch her season. So I watched a few episodes and I watched her be stranded by herself on an island because her whole tribe had been decimated. And I was preparing myself mentally for that. Like, basically naked and afraid or something. I was like, okay, I gotta learn how to make a fire. I didn't know anything about the social game the first time I played. It was a real steep learning curve for me.
Ria
And you picked up on it because. Yeah. As a fan of Survivor, and I think many fans of Survivor honor your social game, you know, to the highest degree because that's. I feel like obviously physical aspects, you crush every aspect. But your social game is, like, top notch. And like you said, friendly, flirty, like all that. People, like, want to trust you immediately. You know, even just sitting here talking to you, I'm like, I would trust her.
Guest
Yeah.
Ria
I'm like, I would trust her right off the bat. Even though I've watched her on TV before.
Guest
Still got it. That's what Deal or no Deal was like for me. I was really nervous going in to play Deal or no Deal because I saw how Rob had been received in season one and he was targeted so hard and so fast, and I was like, oh, man. I'm so used to getting targeted like that. I just wanted to be able to play this time. So I was, like, really lucky that people wanted to be my friend.
Ria
Yeah. Were you excited when, like, the boys were like, you were my biggest crush grow up. You're like, I got them right around my finger.
Fran
That's where the. That's where the. The Black Widow nickname comes into play. Right. Like, it's like, that's the perfect. Just a. You just get them right where you want them.
Ria
Yes.
Guest
To catch them up in that way.
Ria
Right. That is the difficult part, though. Like, you mentioned Rob doing it and then also on Traders as well, people, like, sniff it out. Although it's kind of now watching this season of Traders. I don't know if you've been keeping up.
Guest
Oh, yeah.
Ria
With Rob, you being a trader last season, I'm like, we were just talking about this. How are they not watching? Going well. They had Parvati as a traitor. They probably have Rob as a traitor too. Like, traitors has to mix it up because they're just using all the Survivor people. But people aren't catching on to that just yet. We haven't seen the rest of the season.
Fran
Oh.
Guest
But now what Rob has done at the round table is put a big spotlight on it.
Fran
Definitely did. But I do think it has been a good. And it's a good strategy too, because I was joking. I was like, I think some people go into traders, they have really no clue. But it's like in order for the game to work, you almost need somebody, big brother world, Survivor world, to be with the traitors and kind of guide the group in a way that like, makes sense. I can't imagine, like all the Bravo, like three Bravo people being traitors. They'd be like, who do we kill? I don't know if there'd be any strategy towards it whatsoever.
Ria
True.
Fran
Because it's like, it's just such a fun show. All these shows are so fun to watch, but there's such a fun show to watch when you as a viewer obviously know what's happening and you're like, oh, my God, the moves that they're making, they can't are so good. They can't get these people into believing them. Were you surprised at kind of how long it took on Traitors for people to start to suspect you?
Guest
Well, yes, because Larsa called me out at the table as soon as Allen had picked the traitors. So I was like, oh, boy, I already have heat on me. I wasn't even a traitor at that point. So I was like, as soon as I became a traitor, I was just like scared and I started acting so weird. I was like glaring at everyone and pouting and I was like, oh, I didn't even know I do that face.
Ria
It's like when you, like if you smoke and then you're like, everyone knows I'm high.
Guest
Yeah, that's exactly it. I felt like it was a fishbowl. Like I'd walk into the breakfast room and like time would slow down and everything would expand and I was like, the lights are so bright and they're all pointing at me and everyone's looking at me and I'm being weird. And I would pick up the coffee and I'd be like, how do I pour a drink? Yeah, you're like second guessing how would.
Ria
A faithful pour this coffee right now with Deal or no Deal island, when you were approached to go on the show, were you hesitant or kind of all in to go back on to a new show?
Guest
Well, Deal or no Deal island is like the goofiest name, right? For a show.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah.
Guest
So I was like, what is this show? But I watched Rob on it, because Rob's my guy. So I'm like, I love watching him play games. It's fun. So I was like, okay, it's really fun. It's like you're glamping. You're in these, like, deluxe accommodations, being fed, being taken care of. It's kind of campy in the way that Traders. It's kind of campy. It's goofy. Joe Manganiello is the host and he's so perfect for the gig. And so it's like adventure reality, but like kind of a movie at the same time. And I was like, yeah, I'm gonna go for it. Cause as soon as you get past the silliness of the name, the show is actually pretty complex.
Fran
Yeah.
Guest
And it requires different. A totally different way of showing up and playing for me. So it was like a unique challenge.
Ria
There are so many different elements to Deal or no Deal Island. Like you mentioned, like. Like when you first hear. Hear that you're like, how? Okay, so it's just. Someone's just going to be on an island playing Deal or no Deal, like elements behind this. But there's so much that goes into it. What would you say is sort of the strategy in Dealer no Deal Island? Because, like, mentioning there's so many components. Components. How do you attack this show?
Guest
I think, well, it's more of a. It's really different to playing Survivor or even Traders where you want to get out ahead of it. With Deal or no Deal, I wanted to sit back more and observe more and just allow the game to unfold. So it really required a lot of presence and sort of a yoga mind where it's just like, be in the moment, watch this flow, watch this play out. I don't have a lot of control. The challenges matter so much and the challenges are constantly changing. So if you don't have control over your environment, then you have to just control the things you can, which is your own mindset and attitude, and then just do your best to move the pieces around or influence people as much as you can so that they keep you safe and whoever your allies were. So I wanted to insulate myself with, like, a couple of really strong allies and then just let everyone else be kind of on the periphery.
Fran
How do you even go about, like, looking at these other contestants and you're like, is it just off of those first initial conversations that you're picking those strong allies?
Guest
Yeah. Well, instantly I clicked with David because he was Survivor royalty from Australia. So I was like, oh, this guy is smart. He's a good gamer. I want to play with him as an ally, not an adversary. And then from there, it is just who you click with in all these games. That's how alliances are formed. It's like you can't really form an alliance with someone that you don't vibe.
Ria
With with for sure, because you ultimately have to work together. And if you don't like the person, you don't want to listen to what they have to say.
Guest
No, you don't want to spend any time with them. There's always going to be people who naturally gravitate towards one another and then some who don't. Like. I really tried to make certain alliances with certain people, and they fizzled out so fast because we just had no affinity towards each other in.
Fran
Well, we're, we're recording. It is Tuesday, so there's a new episode tonight. Everybody that is listening will have already been able to see episode three. So they. They know what happened. But we are, I'm, you know, kind of back on episode two still. But you and Philip were paired up. How was that dynamic?
Guest
Philip and I were challenge beasts together. I love working with Philip in a challenge because he's a Barry's boot camp instructor. So, you know, he's got the muscle.
Fran
Yeah, yeah. Those, they're. They're psychopaths. I'll be completely honest. Like, the Barry's people, like, those are the, like, you know, jokes people make. I. I think it was like, it was Benito Skitter's, like, first TikTok he made. It was like he went to like, a workout class and was like, what are these women preparing for war? Like, war. Like, I'm so sorry. Like, do the women know something we don't know? Like, what is happening? And that's what I think about every time. Like, Barry's is like, crazy. Yeah, it's so crazy. And that's so, you know, he's gonna crush the competition.
Guest
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah. The challenges.
Guest
It's so funny because we were all traveling together to get to the island, but we're all wearing like, like face masks and hats. Cause production didn't want us to see each other's faces before. They didn't want people to know that I was there. Philip is head to toe dressed in Barry's boot camp gear. I'm like, that guy is a. Barry's a constructor. He did not try to hide it.
Ria
So you didn't know really any of the people going on before you got onto the island?
Guest
No, nobody. And I mean, everyone else is a newbie. Who hasn't played any. Done any reality tv?
Fran
Right, Right.
Guest
So, yeah, I was like, okay, how do I. How do I join forces with, like, the best person to have the best chance in the challenges? Because I felt like I needed to win every single challenge. And Philip and I just clicked. He's so funny too. He's really sharp and really funny and he's strong. So I was like, you're my mate. You ain't going nowhere. But I did it in a little different way than Sydney tried to do it with David.
Fran
What was the difference in just like. Like, the. The amount of money is so huge, right? So it's funny because you go back and you look at, like, traders and you guys are playing for challenges. And a lot of the challenges in traders, like, the most you. The group was banking was, you know, 10, 15, $20,000 for the pot. But you're on dealer no deal island. You're pulling briefcase.
Guest
You.
Fran
It's got $1.5 million in the briefcase. Like, that's crazy. How do you kind of mentally, like, understand the amount of money you guys are playing with?
Guest
It's wild. Like, to me, I was like, Monopoly.
Fran
Monopoly, Right.
Guest
It totally has to make sense. But, yeah, no, it's an insane amount of money. And you have to do math in the challenges. Cause you're like, okay, if I split this, who's gonna be on the bottom? What's the highest amount? What's the lowest amount? And you're trying to do that while you're also thinking, okay, who do I wanna keep in the game? Who do I wanna eliminate? How do I keep myself safe? So there's so many things to think about as these challenges are unfolding in real time. And then you have to layer in quantum computing. Like, what?
Fran
Yeah, right now. That's too much for me. That's so much. You lost me already just talking.
Ria
You lost me at Quantum.
Guest
Quantum. My mom is an electrical engineer, and my dad was a math teacher, a high school math teacher. So I'm like, I should be really good at math, but I'm not.
Ria
I mean, especially with all, like, the physical aspects going into it, then having to do the mental math on top of that. It's like your brain is fried.
Guest
Yeah. You're like a million. A billion.
Fran
Right, right.
Ria
Exactly.
Guest
Trillion dollars.
Fran
Where are you guys filming this again?
Guest
It's an undisclosed private. I kind of love that. It feels very Austin powered.
Ria
Yeah, we don't need to know. It would, you know, take away the.
Fran
Allure, to be honest. I mean, we were just in we had an awesome trip. We went with Peacock. It was for Love island when they were filming in Fiji over the summer and we did a little boat tour one day and the captain was like, over there. That's the survivor island.
Guest
Oh yeah.
Fran
And real. And I was there to jump into.
Ria
The thing and swim over there and.
Guest
Be like, oh my God.
Fran
No, it was, it was like the.
Ria
Coolest thing to actually super cool to see.
Fran
It's like really an out of body thing to see the island in real life.
Ria
When you're watching it on tv, you think like, we never thought we'd ever go to Fiji or even have that experience. So that was just a blessing in itself. But then to be there and be like, my God, this is what we've seen on tv. And everyone the just the travel aspect of getting there and then having to compete in the game, like there's so much that goes into it now. We're only now three episodes into Dealer no Deal island. So we're very excited to continue watching the show early on right now, but very excited to continue watching. There's something so magical about jewelry. Guest
Yes.
Ria
Did you film yet or not yet?
Guest
Okay. It was so crazy because Australian Survivor emailed me in like February of last year and asked me to do the Show. It's an international season of Survivor. It's like the Olympics of Survivor. Australia versus the world. It's a compressed game, it's shorter and it's gonna be more intense. And I was like, yeah, I wanna do that. Sign me up. So I said yes to do that before Deal or no Deal? And then Deal or no Deal called me and asked me to play and I was like, oh my God, this is gonna give me just a month in between playing Deal and then going out and playing Survivor. But I was, I actually. Cause I'm a mom, I have a six year old. So I was like, I don't think I can do it. I can't leave my daughter for that long. But I have this co parenting therapist that I work with and she was like, do it. Like, it's good for your daughter to see you out in the world doing what's yours to do. This is how you make money. You're a single mother do. So she convinced me and gave me permission and I just, that's all I needed. So I went out and did it. But before I left, I was watching links of Australian Survivor. That's the only reason I knew who David was.
Fran
Ah, helpful.
Guest
Otherwise I would not have known and he would have gotten away with being this elite athlete competitor.
Fran
Nobody knowing, no one would have known. They'd just be like, by the way, I know you're from Australia, it's amazing.
Ria
And he knew who you were.
Guest
And he knew who I was.
Ria
Wow, that is awesome and really awesome for you to talk about the fact that you said you had this co parenting therapist who sort of gave you that like momentum to go do it. Because I can imagine, you know, being away for like longer periods of time and you're kind of conflicted. Do I do this? Do I not? But I think it's awesome that you did it.
Guest
There's not a lot of single moms on the circuit doing reality television competition. There's dads, lots of dads. Like Rob has four kids, but he has Amber at home with the girls. So for me, leaving my daughter, I have split custody right now with my ex. So leaving my daughter for a month is a lot. And not being able to FaceTime or connect with her, it's so much. But thankfully my parents are super supportive. So they come in and they're like surrogate me while I'm gone.
Ria
And just for her to be able to like grow up and watch you on these shows though, and have like her mom as this figure to be able to watch I feel like is so awesome, too.
Guest
It's cool. It's a unique experience. And now she's like, I want to be famous. She's like, you're a rock star, Mom. She's seen a Deal or no Deal billboards all over Sunset.
Ria
Would you let her do any of these shows?
Guest
She would destroy. She's so competitive. She hates losing. Yeah, we play like Exploding kittens or Candyland. And she will stack the deck.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Guest
For herself.
Fran
She's playing those. She's got those. Those, like, whatever. The lollipop cards, extra ones in the back pocket. You'd be like, oh.
Guest
She's like, looks like I won again.
Ria
That is incredible.
Fran
Isn't it sometimes funny when you're like, yeah, that is. That's my kid. Yeah, that's how it works. She came from me.
Ria
There it is. You know when you first did Survivor, obviously, you know, you didn't win the first season you were on, but you go back, back, you win. What is that feeling like? Like when you're getting towards the end and you know everyone's voting and you're like, oh, my God. And you have to sit with it kind of. What did you feel like? Because you make it to that moment. What was that moment like for you?
Guest
Well, you got a small taste of it.
Ria
Very, very small taste. Nothing like that. Nothing like that.
Guest
We just gotta get you on an island. It's wild. I knew. Okay, I've shared the story before, but I'm gonna give you a little taste of it. When I came back from Cook Island, I went and saw a psychic with my friend in la, and this is such an LA story with my friend in the Valley and the psychic. This was before the cast had been announced, so nobody knew I had gone and just played Survivor, except for, like, my nearest and dearest. So she's, like, doing her tarot cards and she's like, oh, you just got back. You were doing some kind of challenge. There were a lot of young people, there was fires on the beach, and you. You did ok. You're gonna go back and you'll be victorious. And I was like, girl, you're crazy. I'm not playing Survivor again. Like, people don't do that more than once. So then when they called me to go back and play, I was like, the prophecy is coming true. Oh, my God.
Ria
It's so crazy that I have chills right now listening to this.
Guest
Right? So I go out and I'm like, I'm gonna win. I knew it. I don't know if it's like, chicken or egg thing with the psychic who told me this, but the seed was planted in my mind that I was gonna win. So even when things got shaken up and looked really bad for me, like, we had the tribe swap, and I was away from Cere and Amanda, my closest allies, and I was with Jonathan Penner and Eliza, who were gunning for me, I was like, it's fine. It's gonna be fine, because I'm gonna win.
Fran
Yeah. I was told I'm winning.
Guest
Yeah. So then as that played out and I did get to the end and I did win, I was like, oh. I took that same mental attitude from Micronesia into Deal or no Deal, where I was like, whatever. This looks like, however bad it looks, it's gonna be fine. I'm gonna win. And I think that every time I play a game now.
Fran
Yeah. Yeah.
Ria
That's amazing.
Fran
Even, like, it's a great mentality to have because it.
Ria
You.
Fran
It forces you to kind of, like, focus on the. On the positive and the. And the momentum that you have more than, like, oh, no. Like, I'm toast. Like, this is it for me. Like, all, like. And then you just start to spiral. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, everything is a disaster in your mind. You spiral. So it's a great. It's definitely a great mentality to have. I'm wondering if there are any. Do you have any shows in your mind or on your list that you haven't done that you would like to play or like, to do?
Guest
I would love to do Dancing with the Stars.
Fran
Amazing.
Guest
I'm not a great dancer. Yeah.
Ria
Like, you're talking to someone. This is someone's dream. You're sitting there.
Fran
You want to do that. Stars is my favorite thing ever. Yeah. Like, right.
Guest
Like, how cool would it be to learn how to dance like that?
Fran
I say, like, just put me in. Send me out week one. I'll be fine. I just want to be, like, a part of the season and, like, it's.
Ria
Announced with the cast.
Fran
Hey, let's get on to the stars. What you be. That would be great.
Ria
Yeah, that would be awesome.
Guest
Phaedra did it.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah, Yep.
Fran
And Phaedra was great.
Guest
She is so great.
Fran
She was. And I loved. I mean, loved her on Traitors, obviously, but on Dancing with the Stars, she was. She was also great. So. Okay, that's a good one. That's a fun one, because, you know, it's not. It is. It's hard, and it's physically brutal, but you're not, you know, not as much of A social. Yeah.
Guest
You don't have to be, like, an emotional manipulator. I'm like, oh, poor little babies that I'm just spinning their heads around. And they're gonna have to take years to recover from this.
Fran
Parvey just pops into everybody's, like, practice studios. Like, how's your dance looking?
Ria
Yeah, you can work on that.
Guest
Does your foot always turn out like that?
Fran
Yeah. Yeah.
Guest
Interesting.
Fran
I actually not supposed to do that.
Guest
Interesting.
Ria
I actually have now seen on TikTok, and I'm sure you've seen it. People have been bringing up a lot of edits of you, a lot of edits of Rob from Survivor because people, like, are getting introduced to these new reality shows, right. That maybe are now going back and watching your seasons and watching Rob's seasons. And I saw a girl recite the entirety of when you use the double Idol.
Guest
Oh, yeah.
Ria
And she recited it your whole thing, word from word. And I was like. I was like, this is incredible. It had, like, millions of views. Like, people are just, like, now going crazy over old Survivor seasons. And I'm like, this is incredible. Like, I don't know what took people. I mean, obviously Survivor has such a humongous, loyal fan base. That's insane. But I get guess, you know, for younger people, the younger generation with the newer shows, they're like, we got to go back and watch because this is prime reality tv.
Guest
Like, yeah, for sure.
Ria
Prime reality tv.
Guest
And it was like, the first of so many things.
Ria
No social media, really, like, maybe Twitter or whatever, but MySpace.
Guest
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah. But it was like, it's just so insane to, like, see now people go back and watch it. Because I. I watched, like, on my couch. My parents would watch, and I was like, would, like, stay up late when they watch on, like, was it Thursday nights? I think it was on at one point. It was always Wednesday, Wednesday or Thursday too. But I would be like, oh, I'm not gonna go to bed yet. Cause I'm gonna watch Survivor with them. So it's prime.
Guest
It primed your brain for this moment right now.
Fran
Truly.
Ria
Truly. I get in your life.
Fran
Yes. And it has been great because I do think the creators like doing Traders in the US and, you know, Deal or no Deal island has been such a cool way to blend all these quote unquote game players together and put them on shows and, like, introduce people to the other shows that they were on. These things, these characters. And seeing everybody's dynamic is so entertaining. So I love that you've been a part of both now, like, I think that's.
Ria
I hope you pop on to every show that you. Oh, okay.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Guest
I'm all done with Survivor now.
Fran
Yes.
Guest
I can officially say that after Australia versus the World that'll air in July. You guys are gonna have to find a way to watch that. Do you watch Australia?
Fran
I'll find a way. I have a VPN to watch Love island in the uk and honestly, I use it for Australia sometimes too.
Ria
So you're done. You would never do Survivor.
Guest
I'm all done with Survivor, but the other games are fun. And NBC has a former exec, Sharon, who was at CBS before. Now she's over at NBC. And I love NBC because, like, so many of the executives are women, and they just have this really interesting way of seeing new shows and pulling people on, and it's really collaborative and they want, like, they really want their contestants to succeed. So I really. I appreciate that. I love NBC and I love Peacock and on this. Ask me to do whatever. We love you, Peacock.
Ria
We do. We do.
Fran
And then also say, so this. So Australia will be in July and your book comes out in July as well.
Guest
Yeah, it's available for pre sale right now. So it's out. Like, people can buy it and then you'll get it right when it's printed July 8th.
Ria
That's incredible.
Fran
What was it like sitting like, writing that for you?
Guest
Oh, my God. It was a trip, transformational journey. Like, I dug into the depths of my soul and I am not the same person as I was before I started writing this book because I went to school for journalism and I was like a news writer at CBS for a bit. But writing a book is so much. And the process just took me from one version of myself to a completely different person.
Fran
Yep. It's such a great process, though. And I feel like so many people do feel like that that way when they have to, like, sit down and write a memoir and be like, all right, day. Like, start from the beginning. And you got to go through everything and either relive it or work through it. Yeah, you're like. Then all of a sudden you're just like, okay, this is. It was like, this is my life.
Guest
Like, I feel liberated from those old stories that used to haunt me or like I felt bad about them or tried to hide them about myself. So I'm like, oh, I. I don't feel like a lot of the shame or blame that I put on myself is all. Or criticism I put on myself is gone. And it is such an overshare. My book is deeply intimate and vulnerable, and I'm so nervous about it.
Ria
I was gonna say that's the best kind and some. I wish this book was out right now to read, but we can't wait to read it in July. Can't wait to keep watching you on.
Fran
Deal or no Deal Island Tuesday nights on Peacock. Yes.
Ria
And we will, you know, use our VPNs to watch.
Guest
Oh, my God. And I'm starting a podcast with my friend Amy, who is a story producer on Deal or no Deal island, and it's called Nice Girls Don't Win.
Ria
Love it, love it, love it. Love the name.
Fran
As a guest, we would love to.
Ria
Have you have it.
Fran
I mean, thank you so much.
Ria
Yes. Thank you so much.
Guest
Thank you. That was so fun.
Ria
All right, that wraps up today's episode of Chicks in the Office. Thank you so much for watching and listening. We hope you have a fantastic a good Monday and Tuesday, and we'll talk to you again on Wednesday. I love you, everyone.
Fran
Bye.
