Fran
What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the office with Brian. Fran giving you that Friday energy on a Wednesday. Happy Wednesday. It is a. It's a Kelly epi. Woo.
Kelly
It's a little Kelly EPI today.
Fran
Kelly is with me, Fran. Hi, everybody, it's Fran.
Kelly
Hello. Nice to meet you.
Fran
Doing the intro.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
Hello. Just for. For clarification. Wild. A wild day for our. Our sweet Rhea. Lots. Lots of. Lots of. Lots of up sounds. Car emergency. Things had to be figured out. Conflicting times. I can only be here a certain time. It's like, so here we are.
Kelly
Yes. And we're here. And I happened to already be here. And it was just. And nothing to do at this time, so. How lovely. Perfect.
Fran
It was just a. Like a sad sympathy. Sympathy symphony of bad events one after the other. And on top of that, it's like the most disgusting day ever in New York City.
Kelly
So. It's so horrible out, like the rain, the flooding in the streets. It's disgusting. I wear the absolute wrong shoes. Terrible.
Fran
I mean, if you're watching on YouTube, you can see the discrepancy in my shoes versus Kelly today.
Kelly
I did not. I did not think I was gonna.
Fran
Rain up snow boots because it is disgusting. And I do walk to work and I had to take a few detours because I. I had some. Funny.
Kelly
I had to hop over a puddle with my Starbucks this morning. I said, oh, no. Oh, no.
Ria
I know.
Kelly
And, you know, people are. It really does, like, disrupt your day when you can't just walk your normal path. I know that's crazy to say, talking about the rain, but seriously, bad rain. Wintry mix.
Fran
Yeah, definitely. And I'm so jealous of people that are like, a little bit north who are getting snow.
Kelly
My parents got snow.
Fran
We just never get snow anymore here.
Kelly
I know, it's really disappointing.
Fran
I mean, it doesn't snow here.
Kelly
It's supposed to snow big. I think may, maybe today, Wednesday.
Fran
No, but I don't know.
Kelly
Kelly, listen, because it says that and.
Fran
Then it's supposed to be. All I keep saying is, now it's.
Kelly
A beautiful sunny day.
Fran
Tomorrow we're supposed to be getting blistering cold through the end of the year.
Kelly
But with no snow, that's stupid. How am I gonna. How am I gonna bring myself to Central Park? And take pictures of the snow.
Fran
I know, I know. My poor sweet Olive. She does not. She's not. I'm, I'm. She's gonna have a full blown wardrobe. I'm. I've got her a winter coat.
Kelly
Does she. Will she wear shoes or does she walk around?
Fran
Well, the problem is, is that she's gonna have to.
Kelly
She's gonna have to. And I can't wait to see her put them on for the first time. You know how dogs walk.
Fran
Yeah. She's honestly, the ones that I ordered her in the instruction manual that came with them, it was like, do this slowly multi. Like, don't put them on the first day you take them outside. Like, put them on. Positive reinforcement. Give them a tree, like the whole thing so that they like the boots. And it literally said, like, we know how funny it is to see, to see them trying to walk in them.
Kelly
It is hilarious. Front legs are.
Fran
I don't like this. Yeah, she's going to hate it for sure. She's going to hate it. She's going to hate it for sure. But it is. Yeah, it's. It's gross today. I just want it to snow. But I did have a lovely tree night starting. Tree night landed right on December 1st, which was nice.
Kelly
And.
Fran
Getting a real tree in New York City is an adventure on its own. Because if you want the most convenient way to do it, it's also the. Obviously the most expensive.
Kelly
Right.
Fran
Way to do it. There are obviously other places you can go to get a cheaper tree, but the trees that are on the street, my God. They, it's. They, they. It's quite the expense.
Kelly
It. It really is. And it totally depends on the neighborhood. I'll tell you what. I. I've got my tree guys on my corner who I love. I paid 130 for like a, for like an almost six foot tree.
Ria
Wow.
Kelly
Which I was like, what a steal.
Fran
And I also bought a little. It sounds ridiculous because people are gonna be like, what? But, yes, but I, but I have.
Kelly
A friend of mine, but in Chelsea.
Fran
In my area, in my area, a six foot tree will ring you like 180, 200.
Kelly
Yeah, my, my friend did 250 and he's having it delivered. And I said, oh, there's another extra fee. This was an extra fee, right? Exactly. No.
Fran
Joe throws that tree right on his shoulder, walks home with it.
Kelly
Yeah, of course. Because me too. Me too, by the way. Me too.
Fran
And no. So that was very exciting. And honestly, I'm very excited about it because it's one of our best picks.
Kelly
Good.
Fran
It's a good looking tree.
Kelly
I'll show you nothing better than a good tree. My tree is really good.
Fran
I know. I was very excited about it and just like very proportional. I love that full and smells great, which I was excited about. But you know, like how you put the tree into the sand and then you. I watch it so diligently the first day because I'm like, you better be drinking.
Kelly
Oh yeah, you better be drinking water.
Fran
Because nothing's worse than when they don't drink water. You're like, this tree's already dead. I just got it.
Kelly
And look how cute she is. She's not decorating. Oh, beautiful. But, well, beautiful. Like, honestly, I wish I took a. Oh, no, I have a photo of mine. But I decorated.
Fran
But I had Joe Gar this tree because when we walked up, there were so many other people and I was like, joe, you stand by that tree. You do not let anybody else take that tree. A gorgeous.
Kelly
Thank you.
Fran
Gorgeous.
Kelly
I Fran, I had a almost identical experience I went to. So I. I live very close to my tree stand. It's the same guys every year. They're like major hippies. You know, most of them are.
Fran
That's basically every single one.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
Same with our guys. They're very one in Chelsea.
Kelly
My guys make. Of course. My guys make like little wood carvings. Like they made a. A wood carving of a reindeer smoking a cigarette. I bought it for $30, you know, it's whatever. So they're just cool hippies doing their thing. But I was walking by, I had to go pick up something at H and M. And I was walking by, going back to my apartment and I. I kind of with my eyeballs scoped some trees, I get very lucky where every year for the past couple of years, I've chosen the first tree I grab. And it ends up being like, perfect. And so I'm trying to keep that streak up. Y. I'm looking and I spot one. I'm like, oh, I like that tree. And I come down and I'm like beelining it to this tree.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
And some girl comes out of nowhere. I know she sees me and she. She starts monopolizing the attention of the tree guy, being like, I need help. And then she starts just like grabbing trees. And I'm like, wait a minute.
Fran
You gotta.
Kelly
You can't just like, grab the tree. Yeah. So she's grabbing trees, she's making this guy hold up one. Weighing them, whatever.
Fran
Right, right.
Kelly
I'm standing next to the tree that I want Waiting for this guy to be done with her and work with me. The other guy was wrapping up another tree, like, whatever. So I'm standing there waiting. I grab the tree, and I pick. I just kind of look at it. Cause she's fully in my way, like, whatever. So I'm looking at it, whatever. And I'm like, yeah, this is the one. So I set it back down, and I'm waiting patiently. And then all of a sudden, she turns around, she's holding two other trees, looks at me, and is like, you might have to help me with something here. I was like, what? And then she grabs the tree I'm waiting for. And so I said, well, it looks like I already helped you, because that's the tree I'm trying to get. And she goes, oh, ha ha. And then keeps holding it as if she's gonna now get this tree.
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Kelly
And I'm sitting there, like, what kind of scene am I about to start? Like, am I gonna raise this girl and be like, that's my tree, or am I gonna let her buy this tree in front of me and absolutely tree cuck me? Like, is that what's gonna happen and.
Fran
Give me my Christmas tree?
Kelly
Well, she made the fatal mistake of putting that tree down for two seconds. And I walked up, I snatched it away, I brought it over here, and I said, this is my tree, and I'm ready. On the way out, she goes, congrats. It really is a beautiful tree. As if we, like, had a fight about the tree. I was like, no, girl, you try.
Fran
To see my tree.
Kelly
And I caught you.
Fran
It was a tree competition.
Kelly
It was nuts. And this all went down in, like, in, like, five minutes. I couldn't believe what was happening. But, yeah, I know. I was sorry to that girl if I was a. But you were a bitch.
Fran
No, it is. It is. Look, it's a competition. I. So there are multiple other young couples that were there when Joe and I were there, and they were eyeing the tree that I was eyeing. And I was like, joe, you stand by that tree. Because then also, it's like, we know. We know the price we're in for because we've been getting it from the same place. We know how ridiculous it is every time we go. One of the other couples was definitely like, oh, what? Like, hearing it, and was like, not happy about it. I'm like, super fair. I understand.
Kelly
It is.
Fran
But they were like, what about that one? Looking at the tree? And when the guy said it, they were like, oh, no, no. And it was like, okay, great joke. Stay by archery. Yeah, thank you.
Kelly
And that's how you got to do it. And. And yes, you have to be prepared for. For a major expense. And yeah, I. You know what, though? I asked my dad right before, because I was home, obviously, for Thanksgiving, and I asked him about tree prices out in Jersey.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
And he said they're kind of around the same. He said, I think last year my parents get two real trees now. A big one and a small one. And the big one, I think he said it was like a hundred bucks. Yeah. I was like, you know, that. That makes 130.
Fran
Yeah, that definitely makes sense. But like, you could get a pretty big tree for 100 bucks.
Kelly
Totally. And yeah, full size trees. Yeah.
Fran
Compared to what? Like when I see. When I see like the 10 footers that they have.
Kelly
Oh, yeah.
Fran
On the sidewalks, I'm like, who's buying these? Because this must be a 400 tree, if not more.
Kelly
Did you see that lady in Soho on her phone complaining, this Soho, like, tree area. Apparently the trees are going for 500 bucks.
Ria
Oh.
Kelly
And I don't know exactly how big the tree was, but she was like, I got two trees. For whatever reason, she like walked out of there $1200 later, and I was like, 100. That's a six. Like, what are you talking about? If I walked up to the tree stand and said, I would like these two trees, please, and they said, that'll be twelve hundred dollars. I laugh in their face and walk away. Like, I guess I'm getting a fake one off Amazon this year.
Fran
Like, that's right.
Kelly
You shouldn't be spending twelve hundred dollars on your tree.
Fran
No, that's crazy.
Kelly
On two trees.
Fran
That's a crazy. Yeah. No way. But, but no, it was, it was, it was. That was glorious. It's also decorated in here, so shout out.
Kelly
Beautiful in here.
Fran
The whole team.
Kelly
Is this real? Yes. So cute. Love it.
Ria
Our little.
Kelly
I feel the SAP.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
Wow, it does look really beautiful in here.
Fran
Well done. Well done, everybody.
Kelly
All kinds of festive festivities I'm sure Noah had.
Fran
Was this your vision?
Noah
I mean, no, it's what we do every. Every year, but yes.
Fran
Well, okay, so I'm saying Scrooge Sarah and Maddie executed every year.
Noah
Yeah, they did.
Ria
Blah, blah.
Noah
But I. I focus more on the cleaning as we. We really cleaned out.
Fran
We did.
Kelly
I like, you did do a great job.
Fran
The garland looks. Looks lovely. The tree's so cute. Our star Zac Efron's back on top.
Kelly
1799. This Niagara Falls ornament.
Fran
No that, that was a ripoff, I will say. And we all got them. It was crazy.
Kelly
That's crazy.
Fran
That was, you know, that was a Niagara Falls tourist. Like, that was like the trap. Yes, for sure. We went into a gift shop and they robbed us blind in there. But we were like, we need all.
Kelly
These things sometimes you gotta. I, I'm the same if there's a souvenir option. Well, we're, we're very similar at, you know, we go to concerts and stuff. The merch, it's like I, I, I black out and it's like I need the collectibles.
Fran
Yeah, I know, I know. You want to know actually of all the concerts that I went to this year and all the merch that I brought home, I actually think that the best quality good that I purchased was a camouflage Dua Lipa hoodie.
Kelly
Oh, yeah. Surprising. Actually not. I mean, why would it be surprising?
Fran
But, and it like, it was certainly expensive.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
But high quality. It was probably 100 bucks.
Kelly
Yeah, that makes sense for like a good hoodie.
Fran
Like thick, high quality, solid sweatshirt that I actually feel like I was like, wow, this is a, this is a very well purchase.
Kelly
This is a.
Fran
Because, because I feel like sometimes depending on where you are and a lot of them are like 80 to $100. I feel like concert sweatshirts.
Kelly
Totally.
Fran
And I'll go home with an $81 that is not like garbage see through. It's so, you know, so I liked.
Kelly
My, I got some good one good ones from Sabrina. I got like a zip up. Like a gray zip up.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Sabrina. That I love. I'm like living in it these days. It's really cute.
Fran
That's a good one too.
Kelly
Yeah. I got a big oversized, you know, it's nice.
Fran

Kelly
I'm rose gold batistaed up today.
Fran
Because on, like, the Mondays where I'm at the gym or Mondays, wash my hair Tuesday morning at the gym, and then I'm like, ugh, now I just did my hair on Monday. Well, the Batiste brings it all back to life. So you can buy the Batiste dry shampoo online or in store at your nearest retailer. We were chatting before because you did a whole, like, Stranger Things recap with the movie Boys.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
Here at Barstool, and I finished episode four on Monday night. So now it's like, now we're in the. In the waiting game, but really just a fantastic fourth episode. Noah, you're. No, you are watching or you.
Noah
I am watching, but I'm only on. I only watch one.
Kelly
Okay. You'll. You'll see.
Fran
So I don't want to spoil.
Kelly
I didn't. Yeah, I don't want to spoil anything for anybody because people are still. They're definitely still watching. And if you've avoided spoilers at this point, like, good for you. But I was not. Like, I. I watched Stranger Things up until season three. I hated season three so much. I thought it was so bad. I hated the, like, mall moment. Like, whatever. It was dumb.
Fran
I liked them all.
Kelly
I. I just thought it was so unrealistic. Like, you know what I mean? Which I love. I mean, I talk. Coming from the girl who literally lives in Harry Potter world. Like, I. You know, I. But sometimes I have limits, and that was one of them. And so I didn't watch season four and then season five. Everything's coming out. I obviously knew the. The moment with the Kate Bush running up that hill. Like, I had seen that scene, and, like, I. You know, I get the gist. And I watched the first four of season five, volume. Whatever, volume one they're calling it, and I needed, like, a little bit of filling in of the gaps, but it was totally fine watching it. And it's really good. Like, it's back all the way. And I went back then and watched Pieces of four to fill in more gaps that I was missing. But it. It's certainly taken a leap into more, like, interesting, darker, adult, like, you know, storylines. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? Like, we've got the government involved, and, like, for sure, the kids are, you know, they're. They're older, they're seniors. I don't have a problem with that's like the big discourse thing. I don't have a problem with how they look. I think that the kids, they were hired to be child actors and they have grown up and so have their characters and it makes sense. And, and I'm calling it Harry Potter. It's definitely how.
Fran
Yeah, it would have been. It would have been way weirder if they tried to like, make them look younger.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
Or. I don't, like, recap. Recasting is not even an option. But like, no, you know what I'm saying? Like, it would have been weird if they tried to like CGI them to be younger looking or whatever. I don't know. It's. I have no problem with it. It's totally fine. I think also if you didn't go to school with a boy who between sophomore and junior year became a completely different person.
Kelly
Yep.
Fran
I don't know what to tell you. Like, I, I, it makes complete. There's like, there was high school, some of my guy friends. If you were to look at them freshman from. Is it falling off the side? You can hear the tape slowly ripping. Yes.
Ria
Okay.
Fran
But if you were to look like freshman year to senior year, it's completely different human being.
Kelly
Of course. And that is where people are now. They're projecting their, their hatred of like the previous seasons onto this. Like they're looking for something to complain about. And this is what it is. There's nothing to complain about.
Fran
I don't even really think they look drastically that much different from season four. Season four? Season four. They looked old, a lot older, obviously, but it's like they're 18. Like, how old are they?
Kelly
That's what I said. I said they're not even that old.
Noah
I also don't think that they look like that never really crossed my mind.
Kelly
Me neither.
Fran
I know I'm not, I'm not thinking like, oh my God.
Noah
Like, think about you.
Fran
I'm not looking at Mike thinking, oh my God, Mike looks like he's 30. Like, no, he's 22.
Kelly
Right. Like, chill.
Noah
Everybody's like, if you compare the cast of Euphoria to this cast, they look like they're 20 years older than the stranger kids.
Kelly
A billion percent. Yes.
Fran
For sure.
Kelly
And I, I don't know who started the.
Fran
It's not like 30 year olds don't play high schoolers all the time.
Kelly
All the time.
Noah
That's where like 30. When he played, when he was on Hannah Montana.
Fran
Yes.
Kelly
Yeah. Yes. And, and that is what people are choosing that they can't like, suspend Their disbelief for that. It's like, we've got. There's a demo organ or whatever and the upside down. I think we can.
Fran
The only one that was. The only one that was cracking me up. And I don't know how old she actually is. I got to look her. Oh, this is Erica.
Kelly
Yeah, Erica.
Fran
This is who I fudgeing love. I think Erica is like the funniest person on Stranger Things.
Kelly
Yes. I think they had to change up her hair and they didn't.
Fran
They like, you know, like, you know, like when you're just like, oh, this. You know, this. This girl's becoming a woman.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
And she doesn't quite look like she's 12.
Kelly
No, she does not. Not even close.
Ria
But I don't.
Fran
But I'm also like, how old is she supposed to be on the show? I don't even know.
Kelly
Season four, she was 11, and she passed for 11. I thought now with season five, she looks 15 at least, but I think.
Fran
In reality, like 20, because. Right. She's supposed to be playing. She must be still.
Kelly
She's playing a freshman. She's playing.
Fran
She's playing a freshman.
Kelly
Okay. No, sorry. She's in eighth grade. Eighth grade.
Fran
Yeah, I was going to say, I think she was in. Right.
Kelly
Remember they ran to the middle school.
Fran
I mean, she's 19 right now, so it's like, that's going to be. That's a tougher.
Kelly
Chill. Chill.
Fran
When I saw her walking, when they called her out of the classroom and she walked down the steps, I was.
Kelly
Like, she's grown up. Girl.
Ria
Girl.
Kelly
She's a woman.
Fran
Oh, my God. I freaking love Erica.
Kelly
She's very funny.
Fran
She is an. An amazing character. But no, it was. It's. It's. It's good for sure. I. I'm excited to see how. How it all plays out. I'm not gonna spoil it.
Kelly
Of course. There's some really good. There's some really good acting, I'll say, like. Like Holly, the. The child act like she, I think, is really good.
Fran
You know, there's certain.
Kelly
Still.
Fran
I'm very like, I just act like I know what I'm talking about, but. And I'm watching it and I'm like, I hope they explain this to me at some point because I'm like, yeah, Holly and. Holly and Max just being like we're trapped in his mind. And I'm like, well, what?
Kelly
Yeah, yeah, say. What do you mean? So, yeah, it helps. It. How is it Season four helps with that?
Fran
I'm like, so, like, how are you how is this working?
Kelly
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where are you physically?
Fran
So you're not on the Upside down, but you're also somewhere else, but you're not here. But you're in his mind. But it's all his memories. But he can go back and forth. Yeah, in the memories from him and Vna. But as Henry and. But he can also go back into the real world and snap you all.
Kelly
I was comparing it to Multiverse of Madness. I said, we got a little.
Fran
We got a little doctor, But Henry's popping.
Kelly
These are light spoilers. But.
Fran
Right, right, right. He's popping into. He's popping into Hawkins being like.
Kelly
He's switching up his. He's putting his. His Henry Creel mask on over here. Yeah. There. Four helps with a little bit of that. But I will say that.
Fran
And I watch all four, so.
Noah
Yeah.
Kelly
Oh, okay. No, I watched it all just went back like I. I watched five and then I went back and watched more. So it's fresh in my mind. Yeah, but.
Fran
But like Max going through that whole journey of hers, I was like.
Kelly
That was kind of slightly confused. That is. That really made me think about just Multiverse of madness. Yeah, exactly. Like there's. You're stuck in a memory. You're stuck in an endless time loop. Whatever. Same. Same vibes. But ultimately, I thought it was good. The kid actors are good. Specifically Holly Wheeler, who I. Who she had been around the whole time.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Like, she was kind of around, hanging out in the. In the wings. Little kid, no one's paying attention.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
And all of a sudden it's like, you know. But she had great facial acting. I couldn't get over. Like, I was really captivated by her. I think she.
Fran
I thought that too. I was like, she was doing.
Kelly
She's doing a Good job, Mrs. Wheeler. Yep. She was absolutely crushing it. But speaking of child actors who deserve awards, I had asked Fran if I could sing the praises of Hamnet.
Fran
Yes, you may.
Kelly
While I was on here today and I saw it last night, a very late night showing. No. Barely anyone in the theater. I think there were like eight of us in the theater. 10:45pm and I. I live very close to the theater, so my mom was like, you walked there? I was like, mom, I'm like, yeah, so. But I. I went. And the. I knew I was going to be emotional. I knew it was going to be like a sad movie. I did not expect to. Dry heaving, sobbing, like the most crying I've ever done. The theater.
Fran
That's kind of what I'm Expecting. Because even in the commercials, like, even when they, you know, in the commercials that plan TV and they go through some of the. The reviews or whatever, and it's like gut wrenching. Second half.
Kelly
Yes. Like, you're like, literally second half. Like, that is not a. And you know, I'm trying to think. The last time I cried really hard at a movie like that, I want to say maybe like Manchester by the Sea, like, that was like that maybe. And that was awful. In a different.
Fran
Those movies I really actually try to avoid, like, most of those.
Kelly
You gotta prepare.
Fran
Anytime someone see, like when they're like, oh, I just. Like that one. I never saw Mantis. What was the one with Brendan Fraser, the whale. Oh, it was like, never saw it. Marley and me never seen. We'll never watch Marlee.
Kelly
Marley and me, I saw once and I couldn't tell you a single thing about it because I've blocked it from my mind. It's too depressing. And I don't know what that means.
Fran
No, I will literally never watch Marlee.
Kelly
And you shouldn't. There's no need. No one needs to be that sad, you know, so Hamnet does tap into that, but it's all based on Shakespeare's. What happened in his life. He got married and he had kids and one of his kids died of the plague. And that's like what happened in real life. So this tells that story. Not a spoiler, Not a spoiler. Sorry. So, like, I. I hope I. You know, if you know Shakespeare lore, like, you can look it up, but not a spoiler.
Fran
But I mean, it is the entire premise of the movie.
Kelly
Right, you know? Exactly. And I didn't say which. Which child. So it's definitely not a spoiler.
Fran
It's like even, but even when you Google the movie, the overview was like, how they deal with the death of their son.
Kelly
Exactly. So who is literally named Hamnet.
Ria
So that's.
Kelly
It's literally about him. But the. The acting, again, just phenomenal all around. Paul Mezkal. I can't. What am I forgetting that the main girl, Jess Buckley, just Jessie Buckley. And you know, Joe Alwyn, alert trigger for all the Joe widows out there. The Taylor Swift who are still mourning the breakup that he's in it. He's useless, though, Loki. Like, he's. He is always just kind of that, like, filler British character. He plays the brother. He plays Jesse Buckley's Anya, Shakespeare's brother. And. And he's fine. Like, it's like he's doing a bad job. He's Just there's no reason for him to be there. Fair and. But Paul's. Paul and Jesse, their chemistry is insane. They are just. They're really good together. But the kids, specifically Hamnet, the little boy who plays Hamnet. Oh my fucking God. Like, I. I've never seen child acting like that. The emotion in his face and maybe it's just the way he looks like. I was so cat. It made it 10 times more emotional for me because I was just like, oh my God. And I really get choked up over kid stuff, to be honest. Like I do sometimes, but not in the way of like, you know, like my mom like really gets upset about stuff like that. I don't really. But I just have to sing praises and I. It just came out like last Friday.
Fran
Yeah. I want to say it's like it's 26.
Kelly
That came out.
Fran
It came out like this past week, but in. In a. I think like a limited release. And then like the end of this week it's full blown out.
Kelly
Oh, is that like what's going on?
Ria
Yeah. Okay.
Kelly
Because I was wondering why people aren't talking more about it.
Fran
Because I was wondering commercial for it last night that was like in theaters, limited release now or whatever.
Kelly
I highly, highly recommend. Especially if you are. I mean, if you appreciate like a British drama with Shakespeare sprinkled in. Yeah, you'll really like it. Like, it's. It's really, really good, I think. And I just.
Fran
I love how you said it was only two hours. I said amazing. Yeah.
Kelly
It's a two hour movie. Quick in and out get really gets to the point. But it feels, it doesn't feel long, but it feels full, if that makes sense. Like I left it being like, wow. Yeah. Like not too long, not too short, you know, Goldilocks.
Fran
Amazing. I'm really. That's on my list. And I was saying to you before that I do really want to go see Eternity.
Kelly
Me too. I do too. I love Callum Turner. Love, love. Miles Teller. Yeah, I just. Their names are so similar. I only. Callum Turner. Miles Teller.
Fran
Yeah, the Teller Turner.
Kelly
Elizabeth Olsen. Yeah, I love Elizabeth Olsen.
Fran
Yeah. Yeah.
Kelly
I think it's.
Fran
I'm very. I'm very excited to see that too. I really want to see it. A lot of. Definitely a lot of movie time after my Zootopia 2 viewing, going to the theaters.
Kelly
Oh, Zootopia 2. I. I also had the pleasure of seeing that over the weekend. Fantastic movie. Fantastic. Everything that. I know that Fran said that she already talked about it. I'll talk about for two Seconds.
Ria
The.
Kelly
The adult jokes are great. It totally holds up. I remember when Zootopia 1 came out, how much of a blockbuster it ended up being. And I feel like it wasn't totally appreciated right away. Go see Zootopia too. Like, it's worth seeing.
Fran
I just saw the clip of you guys talking about that. It's like the. The opening weekend is like, the fourth highest.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
Opening weekend ever.
Kelly
Up with, like, ever in movies. Like, up with, like, Spider man and. Yeah, yeah.
Fran
With the Marvel movies. That would break records. And then it's like Zootopia, too.
Noah
Yes.
Fran
I feel I did. Yeah. I contributed to that. I saw an opening day.
Kelly
Oh, yeah. I said. When I saw that it was coming out, I said, oh, that's gonna make a billion dollars.
Fran
And let me tell you, perfect time for it to come out than Thanksgiving weekend. Perfect time for a movie release and having it come out, whatever it was. Wednesday. Brilliant.
Kelly
Agreed. Couldn't agree more. Very funny. Good. A few good, like, nods to returning characters, a bunch of new people. Really good stuff. Cute. Cute for the kids, fun for the adults.
Fran
I'm about to have a nail.
Kelly
Oh, no. Fran, you always get that broken nail in that same spot, don't you?
Fran
Oh, my God. Well, yeah. Oh, no, I just, like. I looked down and felt it was like. Oh, no.
Kelly
Did it get caught on your hair or something? That's always when.
Fran
I know it's probably.
Kelly
Probably. Damn. And your nails really aren't like. I would. I'd probably go, like, a little longer before getting them done.
Fran
I. Yeah. You know, I mean, to be honest, this has been almost like a month.
Kelly
No way.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
Really?
Fran
Yeah, it's lasted a really long.
Austin Kroll
It looks like.
Kelly
It looks like maybe two weeks to me.
Fran
I know.
Kelly
Here. Not even really.
Fran
No. It's been a really long time, but I have. And I have, like, major bad OCD when a. Oh, of course, it's not, like, fully. It's not. Okay. It can be salvaged maybe.
Kelly
Probably if they. If they do the jello or glue a little bit.
Fran
My problem is the place I go to now is, like, freaking impossible to.
Kelly
Get a. Oh, no, it's too good.
Fran
Get an appointment. Yeah, it's like, you have to, like, make it weeks in advance. It's, like, kind of a pain in the ass.
Kelly
So I still go to, like, a regular ass place that I just walk into. But they. And some of the ladies are really good at the gel x and other people are not. Right. And it's a hit or miss. I got a good one last time. They're pretty good right now.
Fran
Oh, man. Okay, well, that's gonna hate that. I'm gonna be distracted the whole rest of the time. I'm like one of those people that.
Kelly
Band aid on it.
Fran
Like, I know. Seriously, I have to do that.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
When I. If, like, the littlest thing cracks, I'm just like. Then I'm locked into it.
Kelly
You're like, I gotta go.
Fran
Because I'm like, this is. I. I need to go right now. Like, I need to get this fixed.
Kelly
Right before you rip it off. I do the same thing is if it's ripped a little bit, I just push, push, push until I rip the whole thing.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Oh, God.
Fran
Okay, well, that's. That's the later problem. Anyway, we have a great. We have a great rest of the show. We are gonna do some topics and voicemails, and we have an amazing interview with Austin Kroll. You know, I feel like when Austin comes in, it's. I don't even really like to characterize it as an interview person.
Kelly
No, he's your friend.
Fran
You know, he's been on multiple times now. He's. He probably, like, dreads coming in here because we always like to grill him a little bit.
Kelly
Of course. How's he doing? Well, put him on the hot.
Fran
He good. I mean, I think it's like the show just started again. Southern charm is back on. Yeah. He has a girlfriend right now on the show, but they do break up.
Kelly
Oh, bummer. So.
Fran
Well, you know, we were kind of diving into. Diving into a lot of that. And obviously his friendship with Craig is having his ups and downs.
Kelly
Sure.
Ria
And.
Fran
And all. And all that fun stuff. So we're talking to him about all that. So let's get into the topics we have. Miley Cyrus is engaged.
Kelly
Congratulations.
Fran
We're waiting for this one to happen. Club Chalamet got a full Wall Street Journal article. Spread pictures, interview, the whole. The whole shebang. And on radio. Andy. Andy today said that Jen Shaw will not be returning to Salt Lake City. Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which I feel like we all kind of knew. But always good to feel like we're getting a firm answer. And then. And then we'll do some voicemails. Let's get into it. You guys know we love talking about skims. The skims essentials. It's the bra I wear every day. The bralettes.
Kelly
You know, I love skims. Everything complete overhaul on my entire closet. Bras, underwears, everything.
Fran
I got skims bra underwear on right now. And what I'm really Getting into the rotation is the skims sleep sets which are so comfortable. Oh my gosh, perfect for the holidays. I just got this gorgeous long sleeve button down and pants in, in a cypress color. So it's like a green, a festive green color. And I will be lounging in that bad boy all holiday season. You will see me weari that often. They also have a ton of really cute prints for the holidays. It makes for such a great gift as well. I think if you're looking for some like if you got somebody for a secret Santa or something where you're like I don't, I don't know, you're not quite sure what direction to go in pajamas or something cozy.
Kelly
Totally.
Fran
Always the way to go.
Kelly
Skims has got a plaid sweater right now and a matching plaid semi sheer like full footed tight leggings. They're it's amazing. I bought them immediately. So good. Really good combo.
Fran
It really does make for such a good gift too. I think when you get like either cousins, aunts, uncles, little skims pajama set. Yeah, it's perfection.
Kelly
I wear a pink fluffy sweater. A couple weeks ago everybody was like where'd you get that sweater? Skims.
Fran
Yep.
Kelly
Yep.
Fran
So you can shop our favorite pajamas@skims.com after you place your order be sure to let them know we sent you select podcasts in the survey and be sure to select each our show in the drop down menu that follows. And if you're looking for the perfect gift for everyone on your list, the skims holiday shop is now open@skims.com okay. Exciting news. Miley Cyrus is engaged. She and Max, her fiance Max Rando.
Austin Kroll
Are.
Fran
Stepping out with the. With the ring on. They were at the Avatar Fire and Ash premiere.
Kelly
Kind of crazy. Miley's premiere for what? I mean does she have a maybe. Maybe she must have something.
Fran
Maybe she can do a song.
Kelly
Probably she must.
Fran
A lot of her caption like sounded like a lyric to me too. It's.
Kelly
That to me is just so out of place for her to show up to that randomly that there's no doubt in my mind that she's involved somehow.
Fran
Like I have to imagine with the.
Noah
Her song Dream as one is featured in.
Kelly
There you go.
Noah
Avatar.
Kelly
There you go. Yeah, perfect Avatar. Yeah. It's James Cameron trying to work up the press about Avatar.
Fran
Let me tell you same. I actually have zero. I obviously saw the first one. I never saw.
Noah
I never saw the second.
Fran
I never saw water.
Kelly
I think I. That's one of those things where I've seen the first one several times. I may have seen the second one once. Yeah. But I'm kind of inflating it. Yeah. Like, I just remember the first one so well. I don't know what was.
Fran
Yeah, like, I saw the poster for this one in the movie theater and was like, oh, they made another one of these.
Noah
I was like, wait, they made it.
Kelly
Like, I feel like I haven't heard James Cameron said. He was like, if this movie bombs, then I will bow out for 3 and 4. Or if this movie doesn't justify 3 and 4, then I'm just gonna not make any more movies. Wrapping up a couple storylines. He says.
Fran
What was his thing? Like that he was gonna do all the elements. Water, fire.
Noah
What do you think the button for this movie was?
Ria
Oh, God.
Fran
I think that's Google is probably.
Noah
I see it.
Kelly
Oh, 200 million.
Fran
The budget for this movie was $500 million.
Noah
250.
Kelly
Okay.
Noah
I don't know what the other ones were.
Fran
I think I thought it was gonna be about this. I wanted to go big. 200 makes sense.
Kelly
Yeah. I think the first one was like 100 million because it's all the, you know, it's all the. The graphics and. But interesting. The Miley is there. So, you know, I'm gonna see the movie. Probably not in the theaters.
Noah
I'll watch it 460.
Kelly
Oh, God. And they took a total bath on it, I'm sure.
Fran
See, no wonder. That's why I said once.
Ria
Oh, hi.
Kelly
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You were close.
Fran
I remember that one being insane.
Kelly
Yeah. But yeah. So people are talking about.
Ria
That's.
Kelly
That's really soon. Right. December 19th. I think I just saw the.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Because I've been watching movies for three days.
Fran
So. So she and Max were at the premiere. She had the ring on her finger. It's like a. It's a. Like a chunky ring.
Kelly
It's cool. It is cool.
Fran
It's different. It's. Apparently it is a cushion cut stone set in a chunky 14 karat yellow gold band which you can see like definitely a big dime, but it's definitely, you know, it's like oblong. Yeah. Yeah. It looks a little more like costumey, but in a cool way.
Kelly
It's cool. You know, it looks vintage. Looks like vintage.
Fran
And I'd have to imagine you wanted. It feels very mild. I have to imagine you want to like change it up after.
Kelly
Of course, having. If you've already been engaged. Right.
Fran
If you've already been married, for sure. You want to kind of like switch it up a little bit.
Kelly
I feel if ever anyone change the vibes, getting remarried or new engagement rings or whatever. Yeah, you'd. You want a totally different vibe. Like, who wants to copy paste same scenario, you know, and we don't really.
Fran
Know when exactly this happened because according to Dumas, she was also seen wearing this ring in mid November. Interesting. So this. It may have been a little while ago, and she decided to. To debut this and to confirm.
Kelly
Right. Yeah, that was the whole thing.
Fran
Yeah. And she was wearing it in her Instagram post that she shared last week for her birthday as well.
Kelly
Wow. And nobody looked at them. Nobody.
Fran
It was just like kind of turn. Like, it could have been just like a ring.
Kelly
Right.
Fran
You know, like, it's kind of hard to look black and white. She posted a black and white photo, so it's like, kind of hard to tell.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
But it was really like, she is. She's kind of like. She's.
Kelly
Dave.
Fran
She's showing it off on the carpet. Like, she's got her left hand planted firmly on Max's shoulder of like, here is. This Here is ring.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
And we're ready, like, to say that this is.
Kelly
Yeah, this is barely.
Fran
Yeah, exactly. You wouldn't.
Kelly
This was a tease.
Fran
I wouldn't really think twice about that too, you know.
Kelly
No, I wouldn't ever. And so, yeah, she basically said, you know, listen up.
Fran
Right. When you look at these pictures, you're like, okay. No, that's for sure. Yeah, that's for sure.
Kelly
Engagement.
Fran
So congrats. Very excited for her. They've been. They, you know, been dating for, I think it's like four years.
Kelly
Four years.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
And I know he worked with her a lot on her last album, too, which.
Kelly
He's a music guy, right?
Fran
Yeah, he is.
Ria
He is.
Fran
I think he's a producer.
Kelly
Oh, I didn't know that.
Fran
I think he does a lot. I think he has his own band. I think he's got it.
Kelly
You know, I like the musician, producer relationships. I feel like they.
Fran
The Selena, Benny Blancos. Yes.
Kelly
Honestly, I do. I think it's a good mesh because I think that the producer people and this. Maybe. I don't know how this will come across, but the producer people know how to work with and understand artists in a way that, like, regular people don't. Yeah. And I feel like that would probably do well in a relationship.
Fran
Yeah, I think that's fair. Yeah, I think that's fair.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
So very excited for her. Yeah.
Kelly
Congrats, girl.
Fran
Which is great. Excited to see what I was gonna get invited.
Kelly
Do you think?
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
After seeing.
Fran
Yeah. After one second interaction.
Kelly
You never know of how.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Oh my God.
Fran
But I can't wait to see what. I feel like she'll do something low key. You know, probably even the first time around it was super low.
Kelly
Very granted.
Fran
That was Covid. So it was even true. I think it had to be. But I did like that though.
Kelly
It looked cool.
Fran
Yes. Like, I don't know. Or maybe she wants to go opposite now because the first was so low key. Who knows? But we. But we shall see. The second thing is Club Chow Mei, the woman, the legend herself. I. We were tagged in it multiple times on this Instagram post from Wall Street Journal magazine debuting the article.
Kelly
Yep. And what an article it is.
Fran
What an article it is. What a spread. Just photo wise, she's like taking what's hers seriously. Like, like, look at this, look at this face.
Kelly
Look at that stance.
Fran
The leg up power stance.
Kelly
Yeah. For real. She's like, I'm gonna drop my dick on the table because I'm from Chalamet. Like that's literally.
Noah
Is her identity always known?
Fran
Yes.
Noah
Okay.
Kelly
I thought people knew that she was like an older woman.
Fran
Yeah, people knew.
Noah
I don't think I've never seen her face until.
Kelly
Neither have I. That's the first time I've seen. I don't think in her real name.
Fran
Well, no, because she had pictures of herself on her own Instagram.
Kelly
Instagram. Oh, true. I guess I'd never seen.
Fran
If you went far back enough you. Because she would. She had posted pictures that she had taken like at premieres and stuff of. Of her and. And Timmy.
Kelly
Got it. Okay.
Fran
So if you go deep enough on Club Chalamet's Instagram. But the Wall Street Journal magazine, you know, they wrote this Gen Xter started Club Chalamet to support her favorite actor. Now she's become the story. And honestly, like, obviously this woman has stood her ground and where she is. And I feel like she is very matter of fact and. And direct. And she said, I can't change the. The quotes on the Instagram. Now granted, here's the thing. This is behind a paywall.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
And I.
Kelly
Which is annoying.
Fran
Right? Like, I didn't. I'm not paying for this. So this is all like, this is all I'm working with. Yeah, but the quote that's on Instagram is, I can't change the fact that I was born in 1966. I don't want to be a 24 year old white girl running Club Chalamet. I Who I am.
Kelly
I mean, listen, she's a fan. She's. And she's running a fan page. It's the same as, as someone running a fan club. And, and yeah, whatever.
Noah
Her.
Kelly
She's. She's an adult.
Fran
A full ass adult.
Kelly
And I, I am so curious about.
Fran
Like, apparently she's still only referred to Kylie Jenner in the article as that person.
Kelly
That's incredible. Truly. Truly.
Fran
That's my favorite thing that she does that she likes. Obviously, like, that. It's like a bit. But it's so, not a bit like she's so serious about it. But it's a hilarious crazy thing is.
Noah
It'S like if she ever wanted to do something with him, like, you would think suck up and be like, I love that. Like their relationship.
Fran
No, see, you know what? She's just like, she's got to stick to her. She's got to stick to her guns now.
Kelly
You know, sometimes the star, like, sometimes the stars appreciate that level of honesty.
Noah
Kylie would never let him. Like.
Kelly
True. Well, that was my next question. Like, I kind of think they give.
Fran
A. I think they'd be like, well, one, this woman's nuts. And two, it would be hysterical because everyone talks about her.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
And three, how funny would it be if like they create a whole moment where he went to go do something with her and Kylie like, tagged.
Kelly
Yes. Like, right. She shows up and she's like pissing like she's. She's Jordan Hudson in the background with Bill Belichick.
Ria
The.
Kelly
So, okay, that was. That's truly my question. They have never done anything together. Like, he's never acknowledged.
Noah
I think he's acknowledged.
Fran
He has acknowledged.
Noah
They did a whole SNL thing, like, about it.
Kelly
Right. That's what he must have. He must know about it to, you know, whatever.
Fran
So crazy that she is talked about so much and everyone. I feel like everybody knows who she is.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
But she really, like, she only has 13,000 followers. It's like people know she is, but they're like, I'm not. They're like, I'm not going to the length to follow her, but I know.
Kelly
She is on Twitter though. I think she has way more. Let me see.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Shall I may. I think that's where her. That's her. Like bread and butter is Twitter.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Right.
Fran
She did just put up.
Kelly
Oh, no, she's got four. Just 48,000, 49,000 followers on Twitter.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
That is crazy.
Fran
I really, everybody just really is locked in on what she does and she's.
Kelly
Got her because they substack if she.
Fran
Were to look at her the posts is not crazy interaction but like everyone's going to look at them. Of course she did just post her Marty supreme review on her letterbox.
Kelly
It is up up. And she. And she loves it, obviously.
Fran
Five stars.
Kelly
Everyone loves it.
Noah
I already bought my tickets for the.
Kelly
Did you.
Noah
December 18th, which is like the week before. I don't know how everyone's seeing, seeing it now. Like all these special screenings and everything. Like.
Fran
Yeah, I think you gotta get like. I think you gotta get like invited to those.
Kelly
You guys on tour?
Noah
No, we just have a show next week.
Fran
No, this shows the 9th.
Kelly
Oh. Why am I thinking? Because we've got. We've got Pop punk on the 18th. Oh, but I thought that you guys were out of town.
Noah
No, we're not.
Kelly
Anyway, so she's got her sub stack. I don't know if you guys. Do you guys know that it says club? I did not know she has club is a fan. Is a fan community in support. Right. Club Chalamet is a fan community in support of two time Oscar nominated actor Timothee Chalamet since early 2018. We discuss which is how old is Timothy? You know, we discuss his current and past projects, general news, film festivals and awards season speculation. Join us. Launched three months ago. So I bet she's got a decent amount of subscribers to Substack and I think you can at a certain point, like you can, you know, you can like pay for more access or whatever. Like who knows? But I'll say this about her. I think that she, whatever she's doing, you know, it doesn't affect me. I don't care as long as she's not being like crossing the line. Whatever. I think it's hilarious and smart and funny that she agreed to do this article and then she's like posing the way she is and she's just like, that's me, bitch. And I respect the shit out of it. To be honest, I respect Club Chalamet a lot more than I did before I saw this article.
Fran
She did post on November 25th. It looks like AMC was maybe doing some early screenings that you could get tickets to.
Kelly
Yeah, I think that's how Gooch got there.
Noah
Those seem like more exclusive. Like the one that I'm going to is an early screening. It's a week before it gets released.
Kelly
Right. Because it's Christmas Day.
Noah
Yeah, Christmas Day is like when it comes out. Yeah, but they. Yeah, I don't know.
Fran
Well, all I'm saying, on November 25th she posted the Marty supreme ticket announcement came in at 12:32am while I was asleep. And I woke up at 6:32am and without even seeing the email, I went straight to my AMC theaters app and got one of the last good seats for this special screening, which is excluded from a list and tickets cost 27. I'm so excited and relieved that I was able to get a ticket to this event. Oh, it's on December 18th.
Noah
Yeah, yeah.
Fran
Did you get your ticket at your local 70mm screening on 70 millimeter, baby?
Kelly
Yeah.
Noah
11:30Pm Oh, 11. They had.
Fran
It's a midnight premiere, baby. That's like when I went to go see Wicked for good.
Kelly
Yeah. Literally.
Noah
They also had times for 4:30 and like 8pm as well for the 70 millimeter.
Kelly
So they did that with. They did that with Wicked at the. At Lincoln center. Amc. They like added in other shows like the show that you guys got. I bought a ticket. I went Thursday night.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
And Wednesday did not exist. When I bought my.
Fran
Let me tell you, I shout out to the girl who DM me because I will say, a week before, I just so happened to open up my Instagram messages and the message literally came in. It was like two minutes ago. And it was a girl being like, AMC Lincoln Square just opened at 11pm Wednesday, showtime. And I was like, thank you so much.
Kelly
And I bought them immediately. You really got them.
Fran
Bought them immediately.
Kelly
So many, so many available right now. Now there's for the 18th. For the 18th, there's a 3:30, a 4.
Fran
Yeah, but they say the time. But there's probably one seat left in the front that no one buys.
Kelly
But then true. But then later is a 1 o', clock, a 4:30 and 8:00pm and an 11:30pm yeah, yeah. What's that? You're going to what, 11:30? 11:30. What's 1 o'? Clock? Let's see what we got.
Fran
So clearly she's very happy to see. Wait, so how did she see Marty supreme then? She must have already seen it.
Kelly
Well, Jeff D. Saw it. He saw it somehow.
Noah
They are doing like special.
Kelly
Yeah, yeah. Coming soon. Wow. Well, it is. It does appear to be possible to get this if you're looking to get to this show. Like there's. There are a couple seats left in all. In all these.
Fran
Her caption, my Marty supreme review is up. I must admit I didn't think Timothy could top what he did in a complete unknown, but he did it in Marty Supreme. He just keeps on getting better. He just keeps on getting better.
Kelly
That's amazing.
Fran
But yeah, I mean, one of her pinned photos is her with like, it's her and him from a. I mean.
Kelly
It'S like a selfie. Oh, my God. Wow.
Noah
It's creepy.
Kelly
Yeah, it is a little.
Fran
But, you know, 2018 tells me that.
Kelly
She started this fan club for him after call me by your name. So that's why I'm kind of like, oh, interesting.
Noah
Like it, like every. Jokes aside, it is like, she's creepy.
Kelly
Totally.
Fran
But I think she's a stalker.
Kelly
You've got to own. If you're going to be that kind of person, you got to own it and explain that it's.
Fran
You have to be like over the top. Well, I don't know. But no, I would.
Kelly
I don't.
Fran
Stalker is stalker strong.
Kelly
That's too far. Yeah, that's.
Fran
I don't think she's like, you get arrested for stalking, you know, like stalking.
Noah
She's not following on it.
Fran
No, that's.
Noah
Yeah.
Kelly
Literally, physically. Yeah. No, and also it's. It's very much like, you know, she does critique his movies and, and talk about his fashion and whatever it is.
Noah
Truly.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
They're all amazing. Yeah.
Fran
The only thing she doesn't like is when. When Kylie's around. When. When Kylie's around.
Kelly
Jealous.
Noah
She wants to be her on like his past girlfriends. Or is it just like she hates all his girlfriends?
Fran
I don't really think we were paying much attention to her. Like. Like we didn't really know who she was when he was making out in that hot tub with what's her face. Yeah.
Kelly
Oh, I forgot.
Fran
Or like Rose Depp era. Like we, you know, we weren't going.
Kelly
Forgot about Lily Rose death too.
Fran
We weren't checking in on what. On what club was saying.
Kelly
Even just now at.
Fran
We didn't know that she was. That her page existed then.
Kelly
So even just now I didn't like, I thought, who has Timothy Chalamet dated? You know, I feel like I don't really know until Kylie Jenner.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
He's focused on his craft. Although people. People on the streets, you know, the streets of New York, say he was like a little boy around Manhattan. But I mean, look at him. Of course, he's so cute. Very charismatic, good actor, Smooth. Like, of course, 100%.
Fran
Okay. Last thing is Andy Cohen did clarify on the status of Jen Shaw returning to Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Fans have been speculating that maybe since she's being released early, that this could mean some sort of return to the show. And Andy has kind of shut that down in conversations pass. But now that the time has actually come for her, for her to be released, it becomes a much realer conversation. So on his SiriusXM show, he did talk about Jen returning. She will be released December 10, serving just two years and nine months of her original 78 month fraud sentence. But the door is closed. She is not coming back to the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. I wish her all the best in her life is what he said. And he fully expects Jen to pop up elsewhere in the reality TV landscape. Just not at Bravo. He said it won't be anything I'm working on. He doubled down hoping this finally ends the fan theories once and for all. And as for why Andy won't even entertain the idea, the lie is crystal's clear. He said there has to be a line which is fair.
Kelly
And it's like, that's fair. Yeah.
Fran
If it was like the show is also doing so well. Like the show is thriving and it's probably one of the most watched and discussed shows on Bravo right now. If I had to take a guess.
Kelly
I mean, I would say they're the most popular franchise right now.
Fran
Right now. It definitely feels that way.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
So it's like you really don't need to bring Jen Shaw back.
Ria
And.
Fran
I don't know, it's obviously it's a line and it is like they are like Andy is closing the door.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
On this part because it's like. Have there been housewives. Housewives that have gotten into legal trouble before?
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
Have served jail time? Yes, there is now, I guess if you were to think about like who was hurt in those scenarios.
Kelly
Yep.
Fran
It was themselves and government.
Kelly
Yeah, the government.
Fran
You know, like it's your people.
Kelly
Tax fraud. Concerned for or, or crying over. Right. Or.
Fran
Or multiple DUIs.
Kelly
It's like, by the way, which is.
Fran
Also, you know, not good. But I don't know.
Kelly
But it's, it's a, it's again, it's.
Fran
Self inflicted and there is. You could, you could certainly hurt other people. But that has happened. However, you know, Jen Shaw was running a nationwide telemarketing scheme and stealing like money from the elderly, which. Yeah, you probably don't want to put her back on reality.
Kelly
I'm really not.
Fran
I'm sure she will be cast on something.
Kelly
I'm sure she will. So something interesting that you said, she's out of jail after two. Two and a half years. Years.
Fran
Nine months.
Kelly
And her original sentence was six and a half years.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Which I didn't realize it was that long? Yeah. I wonder what she's, what she did or said to get out so early.
Fran
You know, like, good behavior.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
Crowding. You know what? I'm the reason she's got to write it early.
Kelly
If I'm her, I'd write a book. You know, I'd lean into it all, be like, listen, like, like Jordan Belfort type. You know, how he scammed everybody and then he wrote a book about it and then people, like, think he's cool. I want to hear about that and, or I want to hear about her time and friendship with Elizabeth Holmes. That is something I'm very interested in.
Fran
Oh, look, he's definitely gonna do like a million interviews for sure.
Kelly
And I'll be sad for every one of them.
Fran
They'll be watching a ton of them. But it's like, I, I personally am glad that she would not be going. I, I, there's no reason for her to be back on Salt Lake City, in my opinion.
Kelly
I couldn't agree more. And there has to be. Like, yes, her consequences for her actions was two years in jail, but it was supposed to be almost 7 and she's getting out early, so there's got to be some sort of consequence. And taking away your reality TV show where you get drunk and punch your, your co stars in the face whenever you get a chance.
Noah
Yeah, like, I think with the stars.
Kelly
No, no, not at all.
Noah
This article from the sun wrote Dancing with Stars, eager to.
Kelly
Yeah, that would be really dumb. I, you know, our ABC besties. Please. No, Jen Shaw. I, I don't. Because, no, I, I'd be a disaster on that.
Fran
This is actually where. And like Andy, this is what. And he's saying there needs to be a line and she's not going to be on Bravo and really, she shouldn't be on it. Anything doesn't mean it's not gonna happen. But like, like a criminal like this should not be rewarded with being a public figure in it and in new, like on tv and especially. I don't even really want to see her on interviews. But they're gonna do it.
Kelly
They're gonna do it. And I'm it, I'm gonna watch because it's absurd. Like, I, I, and that is where you get people in these scenarios. Like a lot of. Yeah, everyone wants to see them.
Fran
And that's why, that's why Good Morning America is gonna want to interview her, you know, discourse.
Kelly
But, but I hope anyone that does interview her or give her some sort of platform to discuss, like, her life in jail or whatever I do hope that they. They like, not only bring up how wrong she was in what she did, but, like, make her feel bad about it. Like, I feel like she doesn't feel bad about ripping off old people.
Fran
I don't think she does either. And I don't even realize, like, I don't think she cares. So that's half of it.
Kelly
She was such. She's such a freak and she always was. And so it's just kind of like, I don't know, she's on another. She's in another dimension. She's not. Not a serious person. You know, to quote Logan Roy, I don't believe that she's a serious person.
Fran
Yep, super fair. So, okay, that wraps up the topics and we're gonna do some voicemails. We have so many amazing concerts coming up. Voicemail Callers
Hi, I am Rehan from West Virginia. Not a long time listener, but a first time caller. My hot take is if Glinda has no haters, I am dead. There is truly no redeeming quality. Like, what is good about her? She is a horrible friend, a horrible person. Like all of this could have been avoided if she had her friends back and just told them that the wizard was lying and then wants to come in the end and banish the wizard and save Oz. Like, she's just this good person. Oh, now that, like, I just don't understand. I don't understand how you can be a fan of someone who is such a bad friend. Sorry, Elphaba. Not that good of a friend either. If you wanted your friend's man, you should have said something in the beginning. What is it about this that people love so much? Like, I expected a happily ever after. Sorry. Sue me. When I heard for good, I thought they meant that they were actually changed for good and they were going to be good friends. But Elphaba banishes herself to a desert. Are you dumb? And then Glinda gets to rule everything. Like, I just. I just don't get it. I just don't get it. I just don't get it. I'm mad. I'll be listening to the music, but I'm still mad.
Kelly
Of course.
Voicemail Callers
Thank you.
Fran
Okay.
Kelly
Super fair.
Fran
I mean, what gets. Not for you. I don't even really have much to say. I mean, that's what I'm saying.
Kelly
Like.
Fran
Like, that's why I get it.
Kelly
No, you didn't get it.
Fran
You let it. You let it play and you say then. And that's my opinion. Okay.
Kelly
And let me tell you about. Tell me why you mad, Connecticut.
Fran
You know what?
Kelly
Pop off.
Fran
If that's how you feel, I can't say I feel the same. That is.
Kelly
No, I. I couldn't disagree more. And unfortunately, yeah, you missed the point. You missed the whole point of the growth. And also. And I'm sorry, you can't suspend. You know, you can't read through the lines for a metaphor. And maybe it's just not.
Fran
That's just not you, girl. That's just not. They were. They were never gonna live happily ever after. It was like best friends ruling eyes. That just wasn't. That wasn't part of the plan.
Kelly
The Glinda not telling everyone that the wizard's lying. It's like, okay, well, she was a nobody, and now she's a somebody, and now she has control. I would literally talk about this for five hours.
Fran
There's plenty of, like, self. Like, there is a selfishness.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
To it for sure. But it's like, it's battling a dream you've always wanted versus what is right.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
And thinking that you could potentially change things from the inside, even though you're not being realistic about that.
Kelly
Yeah. Yes. It's. Yeah. To me, it's very hard.
Fran
I Think that's why they show the flashbacks of her being so little and just wanting to be like. Wanting to have magic.
Kelly
Right? Wanting to have magic. Wanting people to admire and respect her who can't relate, you know, I would love to be respected.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Damn.
Kelly
And listen, I, I do respect a good rant, a good bitch out like that, but I do think that the, that you, you have in fact missed the point. Like that's just.
Ria
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kelly
But girl, you know what?
Fran
Wick is not for everybody.
Kelly
And it really isn't. Yeah, it really isn't. If you want to hate on Wicked, hate on Wicked. You can go see. You know, I don't know what's, what's an equivalent. Go see. Hopefully there's a future Phantom of the Opera coming out that you can dissect in the same way.
Fran
Did you see those rumors, by the way? I did see.
Kelly
I think that they're, I mean, you know, one of the. Who was it the Andrew Lloyd Webber. No. Somebody.
Fran
It was.
Kelly
No, I know, but is he the one that said, oh, I don't know. Jonathan.
Fran
Oh, oh, I think it was Jonathan Bailey played the.
Kelly
Yes, I think it was Andrew Lloyd Webber who was like, jonathan Bailey is looking very phantom to me. And then Rachel Ziegler commented on it and said, yes, I, I, you know, record scratch. Phantom is my number one. So that would be crazy. A Jonathan Bailey phantom with Rachel Ziegler.
Fran
Oh, God, he would be so good.
Kelly
That'd be so nuts. So, yeah, just, you know, think, think about the future. Move forward. Just skip right on past it.
Fran
You don't have to have a pink cup. Fuck every pink cup you see. 100% and yep, that's that exactly.
Voicemail Callers
Hi, Ran Fran, with the new season of Traitors coming out, I'm curious what your guys reaction was to the comments that Jeff Probst made where he was kind of annoyed at Survivor players going on to the Traders. I think he's since kind of retracted that because he got so much criticism, but he. It mostly impacted Carolyn because she was like a shoe in for season 50.
Kelly
Yeah.
Voicemail Callers
And he just didn't put her on the show because she got famous from Traitors. I don't know. In general, I think that the. I'll call it cross pollination of shows is good. Like, I think I watched Traitors season one because three was on it.
Kelly
Yeah.
Voicemail Callers
I watched the Challenge because it had Survivor players. Now I watch both of those shows. I think it gets you more viewers in general, now that I'm thinking about it is Jeff Probst, the reason why we haven't had a Survivor player and Dancing with the Stars could be.
Fran
I don't know.
Voicemail Callers
I'm curious what your reaction to his comments are actually, if you agree with them or not. Thanks.
Fran
I, I didn't see this. So I, I don't know what exactly he said, but if I had to guess, there's just like, it's just. It's just crossing TV shows is. Is obviously not a big deal if you're on the same network. I think it's has to do with being on CBS and then going to do something that's on Peacock, which is NBC. So it's like, I think that's probably where he has his issue, but it's just like not everybody needs to have your loyalty to cbs. Like, Jeff is always going to be with cbs. He probably has.
Kelly
He's built for life.
Fran
Yeah, exactly. A lot of stakes in cbs.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
But to stop people from, you know, getting opportunities to go on other shows that are on other networks feels like not a great idea. And I actually, I very much agree with what she's saying. There's so much good that I think it does when you're watching the Traitors. I have never watched Survivor. Like, I've never watched a season of Survivor.
Ria
Right.
Fran
And like, it's introduced Traders has introduced me to a.
Kelly
To a bunch of.
Fran
Bunch of Survivor players that I didn't know. And even with, like, I watched a challenge, same kind of thing. I was meeting Survivor people that I, that I did not know. So I don't know there. It's not bad per se, but it's just like. Yeah, I don't think you can necessarily blame whatever these, these guys at this point. Like Jeff Probus in my mind is like a network. Exact cbs.
Kelly
Absolutely. Yeah.
Fran
So in my mind I'm like, that you're just. He doesn't like going off to some other network and he's being salty about it. It's not the right opinion, but that's how he's gonna feel.
Kelly
I also did not see this. I would like to hear his tone in talking about it. Maybe he was being a little tongue in cheek because he is kind of like a sarcastic fun guy.
Noah
I was just looking it up. It looks like he did, like, take it back and kind of say he, like, doesn't feel that way anymore.
Kelly
I bet that he was kind of being shady and snarky and then it was taken as dead serious and now he's like, wait, wait, wait. It was never that serious. Right.
Fran
Is that the vibe? Yeah. Right now he says he's shown interest in going on the show himself.
Kelly
Oh, please. Let's. Okay, let's. We don't need to get out of ourselves with that. Be hilarious.
Fran
I guess. They've been loot. Like, they've been losing the Emmy to Traders as well.
Kelly
Well, I mean, it's a good show, and I understand that it is conflicting in tone because Traders is essentially a strategy game, only with some sprinkled activities in there versus Survivor, which is like heavy activities, heavy strategy all around, I would say, like, Survivor is the hardest one and it always will be and it still is. And I think that that is something that Jeff Probst can hang his hat on. Why is he worried about all the offshoots? Survivor is the top. You know what?
Fran
Yeah, yeah.
Kelly
There would be no Traders. There would be no the challenge. There would be no, you know, surviving barstool.
Fran
Like, yeah.
Kelly
Without Survivor. These strategy games mixed with physical, you know, challenges. And I, I think that he should, you know, at least come across, like, he's like, yeah, you're welcome to all these other shows and all these other networks ripping off Survivor, but we're. We are the cream of the crop. And I would say, like, more people are capable of doing Traders than they are Survivor. Like, Donna Kelsey can't do Survivor in Australia, in Fiji. Yeah, yeah. But she can do Traders in Scotland. You know what I mean? So I think that Dorinda Medley is not doing Survivor. Like, it's just a. A bandwidth thing. And I did not know, though, that Carolyn got squeezed out of season 50.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
That doesn't seem fair.
Fran
No.
Kelly
To me. So I don't know what else happened there, but that does not seem fair. And I really like Carolyn and apparently Carolyn was excellent when she. I didn't watch her season of Survivor, but she was apparently really good in. In tone and she had an interesting story and people. She was like, a fan favorite. People really liked her, and so they would have liked to see her come back. And I think that she gained, you know, so much, so many new fans on Traders. So why would you not put her on Survivor for sure.
Voicemail Callers
This is Jenna from St. Louis, and I. This is really in the pop culture take. It's more of a question for you guys. I was listening to you talk about the Hillary Duff tour and how much excitement there is around it and that hopefully she'll add more dates.
Kelly
Yes.
Voicemail Callers
To her calendar. And I just want to know, are you guys obsessed or were you obsessed with the Hillary Dots Christmas cd Because I am absolutely obsessed. I asked for a record player for Christmas this year, and one of the first records I asked for was her Santa Claus Lane Christmas album.
Kelly
Like, I.
Voicemail Callers
When the Snow Goes down on Tinsel Town. Obsessed. Like, I love it so much. I listen to it every single year, and I feel like every time I talk about it, nobody knows what I'm talking about. So I just need to know if you guys. Guys do know and are also in love with it. Because if she did a Christmas store, I would pay so much money to go see it. Okay, love you guys. Bye.
Fran
Let me tell you, I completely forgot about this.
Kelly
The Christmas album.
Fran
The Christmas album. Because when I think Hillary Duff Christmas, the first thing that pops into my.
Kelly
Head is with Aaron.
Fran
Aaron Carter. Liz McGuire. Christmas episode.
Kelly
Same, same.
Fran
Which was.
Kelly
At first, I thought that's what she meant. No, that was the most exciting thing that's ever happened. Yeah. A side note. My very first concert ever. Hillary Duff, Really? Hilary Duff. I believe at pnc, if I'm remembering correctly in my brain, but for the Metamorphosis album. Metamorphosis. I love that album.
Fran
Would. Do you want to go in January?
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
I haven't. I have another ticket.
Kelly
Yes. I'm in. I was like, how are we gonna get tickets?
Fran
No. Yes. What day is it?
Kelly
It's a Tuesday.
Fran
January 27th.
Ria
I'm in. I'm in.
Kelly
Amazing. Kelly. I bought.
Fran
I bought two tickets with. With not knowing who I was gonna bring to me with me.
Kelly
100.
Fran
Normally, like, Gia is my Christmas buddy, but she's not quite, like. She's a little too young for Hillary.
Kelly
Hillary.
Fran
Nope.
Kelly
I'm in.
Fran
However, Hillary, let me tell you, we were in la. I was. I told the story on the podcast the other day, but we were in LA and the tickets were going on sale for the four shows, and I, like, cracked an eye open at 7am and was like. Because I. I signed up for the emails, whatever. I was like, let me just see if I could get in.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
And I was like, 500th person in the queue. I. I screamed. I was like, this has never happened.
Kelly
Oh, my God.
Fran
Never happened to me in my life.
Kelly
That's incredible.
Fran
So I have two tickets, and I was waiting to see. I hadn't made a decision on who I was gonna ask to go, but now that you. Now that it's come up, I feel like this is the perfect time to ask you if you want to go see when she said, at the Paramount in Brooklyn, I'm ready.
Kelly
I'm so ready. When she Said, have you been to.
Fran
That venue, Brooklyn Paramount?
Kelly
No, I don't think so.
Fran
Oh, my God, it's amazing. It's the coolest venue ever.
Kelly
I'm ready. I. When she started off talking about Hilary Duff, I could not wait to be like, to get that off my chest that it was my first concert. I missed entirely the. The tour tickets, whatever. And it just kind of escaped my mind until she brought it up right then and then in my head, I was. I kind of tuned out the second half because I was thinking about how I need to get tickets. So this is perfect.
Fran
Well, yay.
Kelly
It's my calendar.
Fran
I got great news.
Kelly
Yeah. Whatever I'm going through, I know.
Fran
Oh, God, Just the best.
Kelly
Sorry that was off tune, but.
Fran
No, but that album was amazing. Oh, that. The Here Comes Aaron Carter episode of Lizzie McGuire.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
Came out 2001.
Kelly
Boy post 9 11, I assume 2001.
Fran
2001, 2001.
Kelly
It's all I can think about. We needed something to lift our spirits.
Fran
When did that episode. Yeah, TV episode. 2001.
Kelly
Yep.
Fran
Episode aired mar.
Ria
Wait.
Fran
How could. Would it have aired in March?
Kelly
No way.
Fran
IMDb saying it aired. Here Comes Aaron Carter. Aired in. Aired March 23.
Kelly
But you know what?
Fran
It's because he's.
Kelly
He's just shooting music video that just.
Fran
So happens to be. Wow.
Kelly
Christmas. So it was pre. Wow.
Fran
What an amazing episode.
Kelly
That was Amazing episode. And also the outfits. Like, that was the time.
Fran
I want candy.
Kelly
So cute. Yeah. Lizzy looked so cute. They all look so cute. Right? Miranda's in it too.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Gordo's in it. Yep. Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow. I'm so excited.
Fran
The triangle.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Honestly, I did. Like, should we just. Should we just end it on that low? Let's do one more. Let's do one more.
Kelly
One more.
Voicemail Callers
Hi, guys. I am looking for some advice. So I am almost 30. My husband and I have been married for about a year and a half now. We've decided a long time ago that we don't want kids. It's just not in our cars. We love to travel. We love our dog. It's just something that we have decided on as a couple. But we are in the predicament where a lot of our friends now are having kids or have multiple kids. And I don't know, I feel like I'm just kind of lost with, you know, who's gonna go out with us? Not that we're partying all the time, but, like, who's gonna go out to eat? Who wants to go on vacation? Like, I don't know. I feel like, do I feel bad about not having kids? Do I change my mind? Which I don't want to, but, like, how do I overcome this in between of, like, I don't want kids, but all my friends are having them. What do I do?
Fran
Where do I stand?
Voicemail Callers
Would love to hear your guys's advice. I know that you guys are planning on starting families, but what advice do you have?
Fran
I was going to say, actually, this works out.
Kelly
Yes.
Fran
Let me tell you, it works out perfectly. That Kelly is. Yeah, that Kelly is here.
Kelly
I said, did you pick this question? Because I was here for this one.
Noah
Oh, you know, this works.
Kelly
I am. Exactly.
Fran
Because let me tell you, I think.
Kelly
Same thing Kelly is.
Fran
I will just defer to Kelly on this one.
Kelly
I am experiencing this exact same thing. And the only advice I can give at this time is like, stay strong. Like, don't worry about it. It will be a tough few years. I have all my friends. Literally every single one of my friends is a kid now, including two of them who said they weren't having kids. So they did change their mind. I just turned 35, so that's basically the range of age that my friends are all in.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
And so. And all of them have, like, one to. I would say between zero and two. That's how old all the kids are.
Fran
Right.
Kelly
And in the last couple years, I barely see my friends. Like, it's very much a. If I see them, I go to them. Yeah, you. You gotta, you know, you gotta do a plan thing. Yep. Yeah. You plan lunches, you plan movies. You'll start to see that your friends that are having kids are. They are gonna start being desperate for, like, moments to get out of the house. They'll bring the kid wherever and. And those are. It's a transition time, and you just have to be patient because the kids do get older and it gets easier and they're going to be stressed and they're going to be worried. And I think that you'll see both sides of it. You'll see the. The sweet moments with the kids, and you'll feel that, like, little bit left out about what they're all talking about. But you can also just like, read up on the, like, I know stuff about kids now and how you know the stuff to buy and what they're talking iPad shit and whatever. Because I'm just listening to my friends talk about it. Be in the conversations. So you're in the know. But then also, like, if you do end up changing your mind and Wanting kids, obviously. Nothing wrong with that. You can have kids whenever. Yeah.
Fran
But also, don't change your mind because of this.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
Don't forget, you know, like, exactly.
Kelly
Don't do it for fomo. But I will say on top of all of that, the. You just need to manage your time with your friends better. Like, you won't have those times where it's like, let's all go out and grab a sandwich right now. You won't. Those, those days have, the sun has.
Fran
Set on those days, the spontaneity of it all goes away.
Kelly
And that's fine because you're not going to want as much spontaneity as you get older either. You're going to want, you know, maybe a little more plans. Maybe you do like that. But that's when you go on trips with your husband and live your life and whatever. But it's, it is definitely a transition period. And I now am kind of coming out, like for the last year or so. I've also felt a little lost being like, damn, all my friends, like, especially my friends who had kids, when they told me they weren't going to. So I was like, like, I'm really, what am I doing here? I'm not really changing. Like, I, I'm certainly not changing my mind, but I had moments where I was like, am I making a mistake? Whatever. I've talked for years about how I don't want kids. And I just felt like, let's wait a little bit longer, wait to see how we feel. And your friends do like, come back to themselves, you know, and they do come back to you. And then you get to be fun, cool, aunt, uncle. And that is something that like, you need those people in your life. And those people are just as important in these kids lives as like their extended family. Not their parents, but their extended family. You know, it's, it's, it's good to have other adults in your child's lives that are not like, direct.
Fran
And it's just, it's just a season of change too. And I know it feels like everybody around you is changing, but you also, like, want to grow in your marriage and have those moments. And maybe you guys just start to do more things on your own. You, you take, you do. Maybe those couple trips you were taking become more trips for you or you're out there, you never know. You may meet other friends, couples later in life that also don't have kids, that also love to travel, all these things. So you just kind of have to keep the door open. To other opportunities.
Kelly
Absolutely. And also, can I say, I spend a lot of time with my gay besties. I'll tell you what. If you've got. If you've got some. Some gay men in your life, you will never feel left out and, you know, whatever. And. And that also depends on, like, where they are in their phases of life. But I have a couple of, you know, who are a little bit older than me, and I now spend a lot of time with them in the absence of my friends who are like. Like, playing with their kids or whatever. It's just. It's a funny dynamic. And we're in New York City, so it's like, yeah, whatever.
Noah
But when your friends who said they were gonna have. Weren't gonna have kids told you that they were having kids, what was your, like, initial reaction?
Kelly
They were both nervous to tell me. I think they downplayed. Our one friend almost lied to us until we saw her, and she would have been like. And we told her, we're like, good thing you didn't. I would have bit you the out. Yeah. And then my other friend called me up and was like, I'm, you know, baby girl, it's coming. And I was like, yeah, I figured, like, as soon as our other friend. You can tell. You can. When they start kind of avoiding you, you can tell that they're avoiding telling you something, and that's. And that's that. But no, of course.
Fran
I mean, they.
Kelly
They both have kids now. They're beautiful, beautiful children. And it's. It's lovely watching your friends experience that, too. And that makes it interesting. And just because you aren't experiencing it in the same way doesn't mean that you can't enjoy, like, their children. And. And, you know, it's. It's a fun time for all. And it takes a village to raise kids. So get as involved or as uninvolved as you want to be throughout, you know, the time they're growing up. That's how I've kind of taken it, and it's settling in nicely with me now.
Fran
Yeah, definitely. Definitely. Well, Kelly, you're the perfect one to have for that. Hopefully that's helpful and we will wrap it up. We have been raving about all things Abercrombie through the holiday season. The sweatsuits re and I. On Monday's episode, I was in a camo eagle sweatsuit from Abercrombie. She was in a red sweatsuit from Abercrombie. But when it's time to take that sweatsuit off and start to get fancy because we're headed towards New Year's Eve. Abercrombie's new party collection just dropped. And there are new looks for all those invites you have coming up, Logging on right now. Satin, sparkle sequins, everything for a night out. New Year's Eve is just around the corner. Plus tons of denim going out, tops and cute sweaters for more low key plans. And coats. Oh, I'm obsessed with all the coats.
Kelly
That coat you post, you know, I'm gonna buy that coat. No, I was like, should I France the coat? Am I gonna buy that coat? I think I'm gonna have. I love it.
Fran
Like the amazing. Wool coats, winter coats, leather coats, everything. So good. And the ypb, Abercrombie's active brand has a ton of new drops as well, which is. These are YPB leggings that I'm wearing right now. They're great and soft, comfortable. You can layer them for workout or just, you know, running errands, whatever you want. So bring the party in Abercrombie this season. Shop in the app, online or in stores.
Kelly
All right, everyone, we are here with.
Ria
A very special guest. We are joined by Austin Kroll. We're so excited to have you back, Austin. It's been since January. We like to do our yearly checkups with you.
Fran
New season. Check out Austin.
Ria
And let's sit down. A little throwback to when we first had Austin on the podcast and he was so terrified, he canceled on us. And then finally he came in. He was shaking in his boots. Meanwhile, that wasn't even the first time.
Austin Kroll
It was not the first time. It was like the third or fourth time.
Kelly
Right.
Ria
Actually, we had met you multiple times before.
Fran
I had a great memory come up on my Snapchat. Maybe like last, because it is always kind of around this time because the show is always around this time. And I came up with my Snapchat of you and Craig walking into our closet studio with, like, bottles of champagne and we, like, were drinking and recording. I was like, that was so fun.
Ria
It was. But that was after four years ago.
Fran
Yeah, no, that may have been before.
Ria
No, no, it wasn't. That was after because he finally came in. Then he was like, oh, I finally came in. We're having the bottles and everything. And then you guys got into some trouble after that because you had been drinking and you went to go do an interview after that and you guys were a little. Probably so.
Austin Kroll
Yeah, probably so. But those are the most fun interviews. Probably not for Bravo pr.
Ria
Of course for us.
Austin Kroll
Yeah. And for you, it's fun. And I remember the interview. I just tried to avoid doing interviews that whole year.
Fran
Yeah, that was.
Austin Kroll
Yes. I was shaking in my boots a little bit.
Ria
You were, but no reason.
Austin Kroll
I was like, maybe I'll just pass on this one.
Ria
Yeah. I thought you were gonna do that today.
Austin Kroll
Oh, really?
Ria
Yeah. Because we were scheduling, and it was like, oh, we're still waiting to hear back. And I was like, oh, since I.
Austin Kroll
Planned that out, I read the email on Friday, and I. That on the high can't lie. I was like, yeah, I'll deal this later.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
But in my head, I was like, wait. Because I didn't even know when my Watch what Happens Live is tonight. Like, don't know what time it was. I didn't know what time I'd be ready. And I was like, last thing that I want to do is have to do this and, like, run somewhere. Get ready. Quick. Run here.
Ria
Totally fair. Totally fair.
Austin Kroll
I know it takes, like, 30 minutes to get anywhere.
Fran
That it does.
Ria
The traffic's gotten worse.
Fran
It's bad.
Ria
Not. Not to talk about that.
Fran
But that's about traffic.
Ria
Never mind.
Fran
I will say more important things. I hope we can do it down the line. Cause I was really excited about it, and it didn't work for her schedule. But at first it was maybe gonna be you and Madison together, which would have been a ton of.
Austin Kroll
It should have been. It should have been.
Fran
And I want. I'm putting that into the universe so that it can happen, because Madison's never been on our show, and we would love to have her.
Austin Kroll
Did you hear that, Madison? You've never been on Chicks in the Office. Your time is.
Fran
We would love to have her, but.
Austin Kroll
You know, I mean, I just talked to her too, and, you know, she landed early. She said that she had a mimosa on the plane. Right. But. But I think that just, like, for girls in general to get ready for Watch what Happens, it's like, it's a whole. My stylist is here, and they're showing me.
Fran
People ask, like, our days before we do live shows to, like, do stuff in the afternoon. We're like, no, we're unavailable. Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And, like, meanwhile, I showered, you know, prior to coming here, and I put some stuff in there so when I leave, I can just, like, blow dry.
Fran
It a little bit.
Austin Kroll
Do it. So I'm already starting the process for later tonight.
Ria
You did take us last time to watch what Happens Live. We were in the audience.
Fran
That was really fun.
Austin Kroll
And. And to toot my own no, you weren't in the audience. You were bartenders. Because. Because they were like, we don't have one for, you know, tonight for you.
Ria
We were in the audience, and then they put us as bartenders later in.
Fran
The day, but we wouldn't have been bartenders of. You weren't bringing us because.
Austin Kroll
So then they got a two.
Fran
Seeing our names on the list, they were like, what about these two?
Ria
Right.
Fran
They're already coming.
Austin Kroll
That's amazing.
Ria
So shout out to you.
Fran
Yes.
Ria
Now the new season of Southern Charm is out. We're, you know, we're on episode two. Can't wait for the third episode, because things are really heating up. This season is good. We got some new people in the mix. We got some new drama. You have a girlfriend this season?
Austin Kroll
Yeah.
Ria
No longer.
Fran
For now.
Austin Kroll
Yes. Correct.
Fran
Is that false?
Austin Kroll
It was true.
Ria
What do you want me to say?
Austin Kroll
I know, I know. I just hate to be like. Like to talk about it in such, like a. Oh, yeah. And it's done because it was good and all was fine. And then I, you know, not to blame it completely on this whole process that, you know, we're in, but it forces the narrative, and it, like, accelerates your life by, like, 10 months. Right. And it's like, we need to know answers, and we need to know now and. And then once you think that you're being vulnerable, but what you're really doing is kind of providing, like, a chink in the armor for other people to feed off of.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And that's what happened.
Ria
Right. Because we saw in this second episode, they had asked you if you had talked about moving in together, because we see Audrey talking about the traffic, and, you know, the way that it's cut together, it's like, you have no idea what to say to her about sitting in traffic, because you're not gonna be like, we'll just move here because you like your space. And then we see Madison tell Audrey that she thinks Sally likes you, which was amazing television. And we were so happy that Madison did that. But for you must have been awkward, because then you're like, well, you know. Yeah, I do like Sally's friend. I do want to, you know, hang out and talk to her.
Austin Kroll
Yeah.
Ria
And your girlfriend was like, well, if it crosses a line, that's it.
Austin Kroll
And I respect the hell out of it.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
You know, respect the hell out of that. And, of course, that line should be respected. And it was. And Madison, I think that they wanted me to be more, like, annoyed with Madison because she said that to Audrey and I was like, madison's pregnant. Sitting on the beach. She's got to do something. You know, she's feeling, like, been left out.
Ria
That was amazing, though. I was like, oh, my God. Like, that's just amazing energy right now. She's sitting there, she's like, why not just stir this up?
Austin Kroll
Yeah, why not just stir it up?
Fran
Cause this also creates a good. It creates a good drama of, like. Well, does she like Craig or does she like Austin?
Kelly
Like, is it.
Fran
Which is.
Austin Kroll
Oh, Sally.
Kelly
Sally.
Fran
Yes. Of. Of what's. Of what's going on.
Austin Kroll
Sally likes a lot of people.
Fran
Sally does seem to like a lot of people. And I was just saying that I think Sally has been, like, a great addition in the sense that she does seem to just let it fly. Like, her. When did you see the clip of her saying she would hook up with you? The day after you and your girlfriend.
Austin Kroll
Yeah, she actually texted me when. When we got the episode.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
Just heads up, heads up. I say this.
Austin Kroll
Heads up. I say this. And kind of like, what y' all are saying. I. I really appreciate people like that. Right. Like, I understand how maybe a viewer. Sally can rub you the wrong way or something, but, like, she's living, you know, open and, you know, honestly, and she takes, you know, her, like, for so long. Right. You know, the show's been kind of revolved around a few people who kind of, like, take the lead, and so it's nice to see other people really have things that are going on. Yeah, I love it.
Fran
The show ebbs and flows, which is one of the, like, which is great with Southern charm, because it feels like there are. There was, like, a chunk of seasons where it feels like it's more like the. The guys are more of the lead and then.
Austin Kroll
And, like, we knew that that was gonna happen last year.
Fran
Catherine. And, like, those were more of female seasons. And the last few, I feel like I've definitely been more male.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
But.
Fran
But these girls bring. I feel like, good mix in.
Ria
Shallie and Charlie are great addition this season.
Fran
And I love Molly.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yes.
Kelly
I love.
Austin Kroll
So I feel like we knew last year, especially that story was going to revolve around kind of like.
Kelly
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Mishap. Craig.
Kelly
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And we even kind of, like, talked to one another because you're just getting to know people, you know, when you're introducing people like Sally, who had a boyfriend at the time, and, you know, Molly was like, a first season, so, you know, people are getting their bearings. So we knew that a lot of it was going to fall on yeah. You know, a guy centered kind of season. So it's really nice to kind of like you said.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
For. For all these people who are coming out of their shell or who are maybe like.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Like a great addition to.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
This show. So it's like everyone's doing their job.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
It'S great.
Austin Kroll
Great.
Fran
Making good tv.
Ria
Yeah, for sure. We're all looking forward to the rest of the episodes because we're gonna see a little bit of your storyline with Craig unfold, but we'll get to that. I want to know more about what happened with you and your girlfriend, because like you said, it's not all bad. Like, it was good. Yeah, you're. I think. And correct me if I'm wrong, because we did talk about this about two hours ago on this show. I feel like you.
Austin Kroll
Did you trash me before I got here?
Ria
No.
Austin Kroll
Hold on, hold on.
Fran
No, not you as a person. You know how Ri is. Ria was just like. I think, like, I'm kidding. No, I know.
Ria
Because I think that you like sticking up for yourself and, like, who you are. I think it's all great. Like, I'm.
Noah
I'm.
Ria
I'm rooting for that. Austin. It's the. I don't. I think you need to find. When you're in a relationship, you need to find somebody who's exactly like you in the way that you find a partner who wants to be left alone. And then sometimes you guys hang out. Like, I. Because the way that you describe being in a relationship with is not, I guess, your typical relationship. Right. Like, you love long distance. You. You get excited when your partner leaves the house and you're alone. Those aren't things a girlfriend wants to hear. You know what I mean? A girlfriend wants you to be like, no, don't leave. Oh, my God, I wanna hang out.
Fran
With you all the time.
Austin Kroll
That. That does happen, you know, by the way. So this is great. This is really good practice for later on tonight, right?
Kelly
Yes, it is.
Austin Kroll
And things that I wanna say. And there are so many things in my head that I wanna say.
Fran
Yes, this is dressing. This is dress reversal.
Ria
And by the way, I'm speaking for as a whole right now, there are plenty of women out there who are not like that and would prefer space 1000%. So I'm just. I'm generalizing. I'm just more speaking like, I think you probably need to find somebody who's like. Like that.
Austin Kroll
Okay, so first off, I saw something where. Where I said on my green screen. Where. Where I said that I saw her like, you know, three to five times a month. And what I meant by that was three to five times at three to five days per, she would come on like a Wednesday, and then, you know, she'd work from home at my house on Thursday, Friday, and then like on Sunday, it was always like, stay, you know, and then she would always leave on Monday. And on Monday I'd be like, stay. You know, and sometimes I can. And sometimes, like, I can't. Right. So it definitely was. Which always made me know that, like, it was good with us because I was not like, okay, shoo, shoo.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
But all that I was saying was that when the time came, it was. It was nice to sit on my couch, you know, solo. Right. And I'm not saying where I'm like, you know, now I don't have to see her again for two weeks because we really did make an effort to see each other as often as possible. And since it's only a three hour drive, it's, you know, it was like, yeah, yeah.
Fran
That's very.
Ria
Three to five times a month when.
Fran
It'S worded like that.
Ria
It's totally different than, I guess the way that I interpreted it watching the show was that, like, maybe they wanted.
Austin Kroll
It to come across that way because.
Ria
Of what ultimately happened when she leaves, you know, I'm happy to be alone.
Austin Kroll
Yeah. No, no, that's not different than being.
Ria
Like, I like my personal time, which is very fun.
Kelly
Yeah.
Fran
If you prefer a long distance relationship over someone that also lives in a relationship.
Austin Kroll
That's a great question too.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Thank you for asking.
Kelly
You're welcome.
Austin Kroll
So I just remember that when Craig was dating Paige and, you know, Craig and I were so, so close. Right. And I dug it. Right. Because, you know, they both had the means to kind of go back and forth and see each other. And I dug that and I was like, I think that this is what I want. And then I found a person who. I know that you just said that I need to find someone that's exactly like me, but I found someone who just brought a level of peace to my life, which I just felt that I needed after failed relationship here. Maybe like a chaos induced relationship here. And it was just, I mean, for someone that does not live in my town, you know, she's not calling me, like, what'd you do last night? And why didn't you call me? Of course that happened like a few times where it was like, I know that, you know, your phone was on you. Why don't you Text me. But it was never, like, there's no jealousy and no nothing. It honestly was so right for what I needed. And then. And then you go and you start to have conversations, right. With maybe my mother or Madison or Craig at coffee, and. And I was having conversations that I feel like normal people have after like, a year and a half in of like, okay, well, we all know what's coming, you know, and what's coming is what's that next move? Right. Because I don't want to do it any longer. You know, three years, like, apart from one another, you know, you re up on a Lisa and, you know, Charlotte and why are we doing this? Right? It was. It was really nice for the amount of time that we did it. And then it was getting to the point of what's next? And I thought that that was normal conversations to have with friends and family, and I picked and chose those friends and family to have the conversation with. You know, my mother. It was very important for me to talk to her about it. It was important to talk to Madison about it because Madison had been in a relationship with me, and Madison knows me pretty, pretty damn well. And so I wanted to pick her brain. But then kind of once it got out there, like, whoa, Austin's having thoughts. I'm like, I'm just having thoughts about the future is now do it is a big deal to then be like, hey, you want to move to Charleston and move in with me? Because that's what you would do. And that could be, like, the next step for the rest of my life. Which it's just, like, a real decision of, like, do you want this to happen or not? Because that's what was going to happen.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
There was not gonna be a talk of, like, hey, you gonna come to Charlotte? Like, no, you were gonna come to Charleston and move in with me?
Ria
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I also feel like it comes down to, though, like, when you find that person, you will know in your heart of hearts, I can't live without you. I need you to come live in Charleston with me because I can't live without you. And so, you know, so if you have that conversation and realize maybe I don't feel that way, then it was good for that. That time and. And whatever. But that wasn't the relationship for the rest of your life.
Austin Kroll
Yeah. So let me just say that that. So this does not happen on camera. Right. Because I gave her that grace of, like, not so. But you will hear this all.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
You know what I mean? Did she coming later, like, that that conversation happened.
Ria
Yeah, I know.
Fran
It literally happened to do. On the show because it's like talking about the show on the show, which is never really talked about as much. But was she anti reality TV or was she just kind of like, whatever? Not didn't care as much.
Austin Kroll
She was the latter. She's kind of, like, cool. Like, if you want me to, you know, and. And I'm. I'm not gonna lie. I. I was like, you know, kind of like Ben Madison does with Brett. It's like, let's give him, like, a breadcrumb trail, you know, you don't have to be here every single weekend to film, you know, because sometimes that feels.
Fran
Like things just, you know, happen.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
You know, but she was always down sometimes.
Ria
Like, nothing bad can. Like, it sounds like nothing bad happened.
Kelly
It just.
Ria
Yeah, kind of.
Austin Kroll
No, no, it didn't. It did.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And that's. Guys, that's what made it so hard and so, like, adult at the same time, where it was like, wow, Normally you break up because something happens, right?
Fran
You know, fireworks, just like.
Austin Kroll
And we. And that. That's what made it all that harder because it was like, you know, I mean, I'm fast forwarding. Like, I'm hitting the fast forward button now, but, yeah, that was. I've never done it in this manner. I've never broken up with somebody in the manner that.
Ria
Yeah, in respectful.
Fran
Right.
Ria
Let's. Let's.
Austin Kroll
Let's. Let's be honest, like, in. In the past, too. Like, I've maybe begun to fizzle out. And, like, in my head, I'm like, I'm kind of over this, but I'm too chicken shit to break up with you.
Fran
How do I push her away?
Austin Kroll
So then, you know, you drive your partner nuts because they're like, what did I do wrong? And in reality, you didn't do anything wrong. I was just too chicken shit to break, you know, and so that's something that I was like, by pain of death, I will avoid happening.
Kelly
Yeah.
Ria
At least you acknowledge that. Like. Yeah, we're. When Madison said on this past episode that she thinks you had a girlfriend because you felt like you need to have a girlfriend, did you think that was true on her part?
Austin Kroll
No, I don't think that that's accurate. I found someone who I really enjoyed spending time with. Right. So it's like, we went away, you know, one time, and after, like, four days together, five days together, six days together, I'm like, wait, you really like this? Like, you really enjoy spending time with this person? And I don't view relationships like I'm gonna marry that girl. Like just cause it's not, you know, endgame doesn't mean that it's not like meaningful time spent together and maybe like an important relationship, you know, view it in black and white. Craig is one of those people who's always been like, if you don't see her as your wife, then what are you doing? And it's like, I've never seen it that way. So I don't trust me not having a girlfriend and filming this show would be so much easier. So I did not have a girlfriend because I felt like I needed one.
Ria
Yeah, yeah, Fair.
Fran

Austin Kroll
Yeah.
Fran
On the show, you know, the last season or so and then even for the preview for for this coming up episode. Looks like you Guys are kind of getting into it in costume. Costume is like, the.
Ria
Which seems like it's Craig's favorite time to get into.
Fran
Yeah, it is just arguments. It is. It is just funny. But where. Where. Where are you and Craig having a disconnect, like, during these episodes? Where are you and Craig having a disconnect? Because now Craig's single, and, you know, he's. Maybe he's drinking again. And we. We went through everything he said last time and his village, and it feels like you guys are just on separate people pages.
Austin Kroll
It. It doesn't have to do with Craig's drinking. Yeah, like, Craig. Craig's drinking. I don't care about. Like, I. It was interesting to me that we have this talk on the beach, and then he. And then, you know, he's drinking again. But. But I'm not. Like, I'm aghast, right? At Craig. Like, I don't care. Like, if.
Ria
If.
Austin Kroll
If he knows what he's doing and he feels confident and, you know, then great. I ain't his daddy. And that is not, you know, because let's not forget that, you know, last year, it was kind of like a flip where people were like, you know, Shep or, you know, whoever was like, craig, why are you so concerned with, like, what Austin, you know, is doing? Right? It's like, I posted something about, you know, drinking, and Craig was like, you seem to be drinking a lot, Austin. And I was like, don't. Don't worry about what I'm doing, Craig. And don't hit me with that, because.
Ria
Then it comes back around.
Austin Kroll
And now it's coming back around. It's making it, you know, look like I'm super pressed about Craig and his drinking. But it's. It's so many more things, and sometimes I'm like, I just want to wring his neck, you know, and. Is that such an old.
Fran
No, no, no. But it's so. But that is. No, it's such a classic, like, way to describe a frustration with a friend. You're just like, I just want to grab you.
Austin Kroll
I just want to bring his neck. And, you know, I don't want, like, bad things to happen to Craig. I just wanted for a long. Like, I've. I've wanted for a long time Craig to take maybe, you know, ownership over. Like, I mean, I feel like he could have come into this season and just been like, hey, guys, I know that last year I had a girlfriend, and for the past, you know, three years, I was like, head down and, like, I had a girlfriend I'm sorry that my, like, friendships with a bunch of you guys kind of fell off, but I'm back. Everyone would have been like, craigie, you know, I mean, it would have been so easily. I just. He doesn't. He doesn't ever do that. And specifically to me in instances. And you'll see an instance that pops up in an episode or two that comes up, and there's no sort of apology for it. It's just like, sorry that the things that I say make you mad. I'm like, that's not an apology.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah, right. Yeah, right. Sorry for your reaction, but it's not sorry for what I did.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
So it's just things like that that drive me crazy.
Kelly
Yeah.
Ria
Sometimes I wonder, like.
Austin Kroll
And maybe we're just fundamentally different, which we are.
Ria
Right. I think when it comes down to it, that that might be the case because it seems like, you know, you guys try to patch it up and then you guys just. At the end of the day, it's just. It doesn't pan out. And now we're seeing the previews for.
Austin Kroll
The next episode where, guys, it does not get better throughout the season.
Fran
It does look like it.
Ria
Where do you guys stand? Right?
Austin Kroll
And then it's fine. And then.
Fran
Right.
Austin Kroll
And then. And then it gets. And then it's like, holy shit. I mean, where are we now? Is. You know, Craig. Craig texted me a little bit yesterday, you know, asking, like, where I ate in the city and things like this and.
Ria
Oh, my God, like, surface. You guys are having, like, surface level conversations.
Fran
Is it tough that you guys, like, have so many other. I guess not so many other, but, like, other ventures and things that you guys, like, do together.
Austin Kroll
That's what it was like, so many things like, how do you guys do it? Because.
Ria
I don't know. We get.
Fran
Well, I think deep down, fundamentally, we're. We're very similar.
Ria
We are very.
Fran
Yeah, we're pretty similar. I think that's when people are like.
Ria
How are you guys still friends? Like, oh, we're friends. We respect each other.
Fran
No, but I just think that that. Because when it does come down to it, there are just things that you and Craig, like when you. When you scrape off all the. Outside, the show, the Fred look, everything, it's like, there may be just different priorities.
Ria
Right. Because you could have different personalities where. I think Fran and I have different personalities, but fundamentally.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Pretty have similar.
Austin Kroll
You know, you would think that fundamentally Craig and I had. I mean, we're the same age.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
We were both in the frat. Bros. And you know, like, like obviously we weren't frat frat bros anymore. Sometimes.
Fran
Sometimes.
Austin Kroll
Yeah, yeah, of course, of course, of course. But you know, like, you guys come into an office, you have hours that you come in, and Craig and I were trying to create a schedule together where he had a million things going on and I had things going on and trying to make it work. We just began to like resent one another.
Fran
Yeah, for sure. That's fair.
Austin Kroll
And that sucks because the podcast was meant to be a place where we could come together and bullshit. The most non serious podcast ever. Right. It was like, what'd you do yesterday, Craig? Well, I ate a bowl of yogurt with oatmeal and then I gardened like it was about nothing.
Fran
You know, we spent 45 minutes today talking about fat food.
Austin Kroll
Yeah.
Ria
Okay, that's great.
Austin Kroll
Because we somehow made it work. Right. And we somehow.
Noah
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Come to an interesting point.
Fran
It all starts in different places too. Like when we.
Kelly
You.
Fran
You start doing. If you start doing something together or individually and then you try and do something together, it's like, well, what is the priority? Our individual things or it's the stuff we're doing together.
Ria
And also we became friends from doing the podcast. It wasn't opposite where when friends then make a podcast together.
Austin Kroll
Yeah.
Ria
It's like we created our friendship.
Austin Kroll
Do you guys feel that one of you quarterbacks and one of you kind of like lets the other one quarterback or do you think that you're both.
Fran
I think we're pretty. We're pretty collaborative.
Ria
Yeah, very.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Because it started to happen. People like started to happen with us and I was like, take it. Like all that I want to do is show up and bullshit with you for, you know, 40 minutes and jump off, you know, and like we can do that. And if you have more of a direction with where you want to go, then. Yeah, go.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
I don't want to fight about stuff, but anyways, working too closely is not the. The first time that has broken up.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Like a friendship.
Fran
You think. Do you think pills and beer is gonna come back in any way down the line?
Austin Kroll
I think it'd be an awesome comeback.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
You know, I think it'd be an awesome comeback. And by the way, but.
Ria
But friendship probably should come first before.
Austin Kroll
Has to, you know, and we're talking about Craig. But it. But it is funny because I bring Shep into this too where like the three of us have such.
Fran
You guys have such a bizarre relationship.
Austin Kroll
Just like a pain of one another. And sometimes I'm like, it drives me nuts. And I'm sure that it drives Craig nuts, too, with just his such wrong takes on me. It drives me mad. I'm like, spending all this time with me. How could you be so off about you saying, you know, the thing about Austin is. I'm like, whatever's about to come out of your mouth next is just wrong.
Kelly
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And Shep does that, too.
Fran
I find that Shep. I find that Shep does that a lot about. A lot about Craig.
Austin Kroll
Yeah.
Fran
Like, I. Or even just from.
Austin Kroll
Oh, he does.
Fran
He does it about both of you guys. But, like, I just feel like Shep, especially when I'm watching some of his. In his interviews in the show where he's like, well, let me tell you something about Craig, you know, this is. And I'm like, shep, I think you're talking out of your ass right now.
Austin Kroll
I do that, too.
Noah
I'm like.
Austin Kroll
I'm like, I don't think that that's the thing.
Fran
I don't think that's what it is at all. Like, I was. We were talking about this for the second episode is that, like, at one point, Shep was bringing up Craig. Like, Craig had the chance to hook up with Catherine back in the day, and then he didn't, but Shep took that opportunity. And Shep's. I'm like, shep, nobody cares about this anymore. Like, nobody cares about him. Nobody cares about 12 years ago. Craig missed his shot with Catherine, but you took it.
Austin Kroll
Hold on. But if you ask Craig where him and Shep's, you know, headbutting came into play, it's because in the episode in season two where they were being auctioned off and someone bid higher on Craig than Shep and Shep is.
Kelly
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Since then, I'm like, dude, that was a decade ago.
Fran
They were. But between the two of them, it does feel like they have that more so then. I don't know with you. I think maybe it's a little bit different, but it does feel like with the two of them, because they have been on for so long together, that, like, they both have, like, a notes app that's like, Shep. And it's like, he did.
Ria
He did this and this.
Fran
And Shep's like, craig, he did this. He did this. They just remember everything.
Austin Kroll
I do, too.
Kelly
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Kidding me. You know, 40.
Fran
46. 46.
Austin Kroll
And they have just now let's checking his age. They have now let one another.
Ria
No. Yeah, I know. He's 45.
Austin Kroll
No, he's not.
Ria
Oh, wow. The Internet's lying.
Austin Kroll
Well, no.
Ria
I mean, you're his. You're one of his best friends. And I'm like, no, he's not.
Austin Kroll
My dad's birthday. Look, I'm not trying. I'm just saying. No, I know.
Fran
Definitely. Which is why I do think it is such an interesting dynamic every season, watching it, like, evolve with you guys.
Austin Kroll
But, I mean, Shep has done a good job now at. He's like, I'm just gonna let Craig. Craig.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And I think that Craig let Shep. Shep and I just don't. You know, Craig and I. I guess it's just unresolved things from last year, because when we talked on the beach, basically what happened was that I was about to, you know, bring up a lot of stuff, but then it turned into something else. So then I kind of stopped with everything that I was gonna say. Cause I was like, okay, well, now we're talking about something, you know, really serious that he's choosing to open up to me about, which I loved and felt.
Fran
So you think you still haven't had that conversation?
Austin Kroll
So we just haven't cleared out the basement. Which I thought that maybe. I think that we both thought that maybe we could just, like, sweep it away and. Okay, let's just, you know, move on. Because we had a breakthrough of.
Fran
I'm having deja vu a little bit. I think this is what we talked about the last time we did. No, we had the same exact. That you guys need to just sit down and you guys. Yeah, but it's. Come on.
Ria
It's been some.
Fran
It's been some time, but maybe they haven't.
Ria
I'm not saying you. In general. I'm saying just, we have to watch.
Fran
It happen at the end of the season.
Austin Kroll
Look. Yeah. It's no secret to me that, you know, the fans, like, okay, we've been here before. Moving on.
Ria
No, it's okay.
Austin Kroll
We'll still watch. I don't want to. To. I. It hurts my heart. Like, I almost switched out, like, man, JT was here still, so I could just, you know, argue with him.
Ria
Oh, my God. No. Not argue about where we're happy.
Austin Kroll
Okay. Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Anyways. Moving on from that. But it's like, you know, having someone on that you don't care about.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Right.
Austin Kroll
You know that you can.
Ria
These are real, you know, relationship.
Austin Kroll
It, like, hurts my heart to have to talk about it and have to rehash it not once, but twice in three times.
Ria
And then he'll see this and be.
Austin Kroll
Like, but I Haven't said anything unkind.
Kelly
Well, are you.
Fran
Are you enjoying single Craig any more than relationship Craig?
Austin Kroll
I haven't had a chance. Like, I have been a wingman for him once.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And trust me, I was a wingman. Okay. I was around longer than he ever would have been around if it was the other way around. And I haven't had a chance to see him in action. I don't really know how he operates in the dating world. I don't know if it's Raya or if it's Dia. Like, I don't know what's.
Fran
What's he.
Austin Kroll
What's he doing right.
Fran
Know that you guys are both single. I think at least as far as we know.
Austin Kroll
As far as I know, that would.
Ria
That's what I was asking. I'm like, what's the answer?
Fran
Well, he can speak for himself and say words for Craig. It's like, as far as we know.
Ria
Oh, okay. I was like, do you need. Have something to tell us?
Austin Kroll
No, no, no. My. Yeah. I mean, man, even my mom was like, austin, just. Just take a beat. And I'm like, okay, mom, but I'm, you know, I'm 38. How much of a beat should I take? So now I'm, like, trying to figure out, because I liked Austin in a relationship. I liked what it made me do or not what it made me do. It's like, the way that I operated. It's like, I go to dinner. I'm like, all right, Shep, you know, Whitney, I'm going home. You guys are gonna go out, and it's a priority shift. And I liked that version. So how am I gonna. Yeah, we'll see.
Fran
You'll meet somebody, and you'll meet. Just that classic Charleston dating pool Seems pretty tough.
Ria
Can we ask about the George Washington thing?
Kelly
What?
Ria
George Washington?
Austin Kroll
Sure.
Kelly
Oh.
Noah
Oh.
Fran
Oh, my God.
Ria
Fran and I were talking about this, and I just need to know. You seemed very upset about the comparison. Okay. And we would like to say that we saw it, and not in a nice. No, but we were like, you know what?
Austin Kroll
Okay. Okay.
Ria
Kind of looks like Austin, and, you.
Fran
Know, he's my founding father.
Ria
Yeah. It's all right. You know, it just the way that you were. He seemed very upset.
Austin Kroll
Hold on.
Fran
The clapback seemed like it was about something else.
Ria
Yeah. Were you going through something that then.
Austin Kroll
Hold on. I. I feel like we'll stop talking now. Yeah.
Fran
Yeah, sorry.
Austin Kroll
I'm gonna show is.
Ria
So.
Austin Kroll
This goes back to, like, when I didn't want to come in here. Right?
Ria
Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Austin Kroll
And I used to just get vitriol from this account. And I was like. I was just driving down the street, I opened it, I was like, what the fuck is this? And I was like, damn. You know, like, just such a great weekend at BravoCon, and everything was so awesome. And I'm like, why is she being rude to me then? And then I start dying laughing because her response to me, I was like, Austin, I wasn't trying to be mean. I was like, oh, shit, sorry. And I was sorry, sorry. And, yeah, I guess it was just like a flashback to, you know, shitty times, I don't know.
Ria
Well, I was.
Fran
I couldn't relate more. I was just like, I just don't need this comparison right now.
Austin Kroll
Genuinely. I was like, okay.
Ria
I couldn't relate more to overreacting to a comment somebody makes to you that is not supposed to be that mean or whatever it is, and it just derails your day because you. Something else was going on. Something else was going on, reminded you of something, and you were like, what the. And you're like, I don't look like.
Austin Kroll
Yeah, yeah.
Fran
She was just trying to, like, promote the PBS show to be like, here's people.
Austin Kroll
By the way, man, Ken Burns.
Ria
Did.
Fran
Repost, so he must have seen it too.
Austin Kroll
You know, there's just so much. So many comments and pictures. And the interview of me and Chanel just went.
Fran
I've ever said in my life.
Austin Kroll
I mean, I.
Fran
Who are you looking at to try and get. Who are you looking at to be.
Austin Kroll
Like, Donald, man behind, you know, the camera. He was just laughing. I was like, donald, dude, give me an assist. Give me an assist.
Fran
That was the funniest thing. I'm like, austin is just looking for some. Yeah, someone from Bravo publicist. Someone to be like that.
Ria
Help.
Austin Kroll
But so, like, so many comments and so many things and like, like, you know, pictures of me everywhere in comments and. And you don't look for comments, you know, but like, a stray one.
Ria
Yeah, F your day up when a stray one.
Austin Kroll
And I was like, why are you being rude? I was like, bro, no disrespect to George and his wooden teeth, but I. But I was like, man, why you gotta. Why you gotta fuck with me?
Ria
We were like, austin must be going through something today.
Voicemail Callers
And.
Ria
But like I said, being sensitive, you know, very relatable.
Fran
I go back to him, I was like, I'm dying right now. I'm like, what is. Is what. What happened?
Austin Kroll
Guys, guys. My, like, wall started getting spammed with, like, gifts of George Like. Like been crossing the river, like, crossing the Delaware wall.
Fran
You just showed your age. You just went full Facebook.
Ria
That's what it makes even worse, though, sometimes when.
Austin Kroll
No, it wasn't Facebook. No, man.
Ria
You can leave gifts. You said left on your wall.
Austin Kroll
My comment section?
Fran
Yeah, that's Facebook.
Ria
That's what we said, Facebook.
Austin Kroll
Excuse me. My Facebook is a different story. I had a. I had an account that had, like, 38,000 followers scamming people left and right. Even my own sister was like, austin, man, your Facebook got hacked. I was like, katie, it's not my Facebook. I don't use Facebook.
Ria
People struggling for money.
Fran
Yes, you make fake ones, too.
Austin Kroll
Now, that happened.
Fran
What's crazy is people really do send them money, which is.
Ria
No, it is. It's so fucked up.
Austin Kroll
Well, when it got to the point where, like, I had to reach out to Facebook, well, I reached out to Bravo PR to help me kid, and it was because a woman had reached out to me and was like, hey, Austin, sorry that I didn't get to meet up with you last night. And I was like, I have no idea what you're talking about.
Ria
Oh, my God.
Austin Kroll
She's like, oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry. I feel so.
Ria
Wait. Oh, no. That's so bad. They thought they were going to meet up with you. Well, that's the George Washington thing. It's so classic, though, because once you say something right, you're like, why the Did I pay attention to this? Of course I'm being flooded. Of course, with George Washington.
Fran
Honestly, there's probably a ton of people listening right now that have no.
Ria
And now they're.
Austin Kroll
And, great. And now they're going to look at it.
Fran
And. But you know what? That's. That's totally fine, too. Okay. But I do want to ask about Bravicon quickly, because I know you. You have to go. But 253. How was BravoCon? You enjoyed it? Fun. What was your. What was your highlight?
Austin Kroll
Yeah, so my mom and sister came this year, which is definitely a highlight because. Yeah, just this crazy world, and my mom. You know, my sister's seen it. Mom hasn't, and she was just like, this is so neat. People think my son's cool, and it was a lot, right? Because I did a. Watch what Happens live every night, so I didn't even get to get dinner with them. You know, it was like, I went in the day and daytime stuff, and because the F1 race was there, it took forever to get every. Well, the F1 race was the weekend after but they closed down a lot of the streets.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
So I didn't have a whole lot of downtime. But that's okay because, you know, you're there for. Yeah, you're just there to smile and. And take pics.
Kelly
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And honestly, it was so, so fun. And. Yeah. I'm thankful that it's an every other year thing that feels appropriate because it is a lot.
Ria
It's a lot.
Fran
Can I ask you what you feel about the whole, like. Cause now I feel like it's been talked about a lot at BravoCon is when it's showcased more, is when they do, like, multiple shows together and everything. Do you feel like there's a Southern charm, summer house, like, rivalry after the whole breakup? Because that's kind of what it's been spun as is like, oh, they don't. We don't, like, fuck with each other now after we have Paige and you.
Austin Kroll
Have Craig after the breakup, Maybe.
Fran
Yeah.
Kelly
Right.
Austin Kroll
Because I think that there's just, like, some snarky going back and forth. And at first it was like, all right, well, like, let's ride for our show, you know, and they're riding hard, you know, for theirs. And it really wasn't like an anti, you know, anybody, because I did text Paige after their breakup, and, you know, she texted me back. Very kind message. And so, you know, and then I started thinking. I was like, I don't have beef with Carl or Kyle or Wes or Jesse or Lindsay. And I was like, okay, I don't beef with anybody.
Fran
Like, I feel like you were a.
Ria
Good mix with them. Like, you. You're friends with them, and maybe you fucked up with some of them.
Fran
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
And. Yeah, but maybe one of them isn't so fond of me, but that's okay. And so it kind of made me laugh because at Bravicon, Andy was like, so got some beef here. And I kind of, you know, looked around. I was like, shep doesn't even know what you're talking about. You know, he's on, like, his BlackBerry, like, what beef are you speaking?
Fran
I mean, Shep's out. Shep's telling. What look to be strangers screaming about.
Austin Kroll
It wasn't strangers.
Fran
Strangers. Southern hospitality.
Ria
I said, yeah.
Fran
I said, oh, oh, good reminder. Do you not like the Southern hospitality cast?
Austin Kroll
That's so silly, considering that I filmed a party with them, which is more than anyone on my cast can say. I feel that I've been very, very kind to them. Of course, when their show first started and there were a few strays, I mean, look, I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. Like, I know that, like, they want me to give it oxygen like this, and I don't. Right. I think that it only helps them. I think that it's untrue.
Fran
Although the show is good.
Austin Kroll
Good.
Noah
I love the show.
Austin Kroll
Good.
Kelly
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
I mean, in a way.
Ria
Say you like Southern Char more.
Fran
I love.
Ria
I love both.
Austin Kroll
You don't have to.
Fran
I love both. Like, it took a while for southern. I mean, it's multiple seasons. The first season, I quit on it.
Ria
It was the last season. We were like.
Fran
The last season was.
Austin Kroll
Yeah, right. They found their footing.
Kelly
They did.
Ria
Yeah.
Kelly
Yes.
Austin Kroll
That's great.
Kelly
Yep.
Ria
Yay.
Austin Kroll
You know? Yeah.
Fran
Although, let me tell you, it's a small town for all these reality shows.
Austin Kroll
It is a small town, but I feel like, like, one, you know, feeds the other.
Fran
Yeah. It's almost like that's how I feel about every. Like, all these shows in Salt Lake City now. I'm like, where do all these people go? It's not that big of a place. Real Housewives. There's so many. Utah. They just said, yeah, tons.
Ria
Big place.
Fran
Yeah. Would you.
Ria
To wrap up, would you date somebody that was on Southern Charm again? Or are you like.
Austin Kroll
Yeah, I was like, oh, my gosh.
Ria
Like, Sally was interested and we saw that. Or are you looking for somebody who's not on reality tv, like your ex girlfriend?
Austin Kroll
You know what? That's a great question. I saw Craig have to answer this question somewhere, and I was actually interested.
Kelly
Right.
Austin Kroll
Because I was like, yeah, this is a good question. I wonder what he said. And he kind of didn't have, like, an answer for it because I've done both. And on one hand, you think it's easier. It's kind of not.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Because he kind of made it sound.
Ria
Like he would, though.
Austin Kroll
If something goes awry, then they can make it, like, a huge deal because they, you know, have the microphone in their hand. I don't know. You know, it's just got to be right.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
That is got to be right.
Ria
That is true.
Austin Kroll
Well, Austin, anything else, guys.
Fran
You'Ve had recently?
Ria
People have been talking about how you are just a great gossip these days. And you know what? I have to agree. We could just see sit here and talk to you all day long.
Austin Kroll
That's when Madison and I are great friends.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
That's why we wanted Madison to come. I was like, the four of us would have the best time.
Ria
We really would. But you are gonna go to watch Happens live.
Austin Kroll
Yes.
Ria
And this was great. Little Practice.
Kelly
Yes.
Ria
We are nowhere near Andy and we hope, we hope you have a great show.
Austin Kroll
Okay. Thank you.
Ria
Thank you so much for coming in.
Fran
Thanks so much. We do love when you come in.
Ria
Yes, we really do.
Austin Kroll
Four score and seven years.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
I first met you guys.
Ria
Yeah.
Austin Kroll
Or is that.
Ria
Oh, well, thank you. Yeah, yeah.
Fran
Chopping down the cherry tree.
Austin Kroll
Okay.
Fran
Anyway, the Southern charm guys. Everyone make sure you're watching Wednesday nights on Bravo. 9:00pm you guys are on.
Austin Kroll
I think we're eight right now. And then we'll probably move to nine at nine.
Ria
I'm.
Fran
I'm being told 9:00pm and obviously streaming next day on Peacock.
Ria

Hosts: Ria, Fran (Barstool Sports), Kelly, and Noah
Guest: Austen Kroll (Southern Charm)
Date: December 3, 2025
This episode of Chicks in the Office dives into all things pop culture with a heavy focus on reality TV and celebrity news. Notably, the Chicks welcome Southern Charm's Austen Kroll for an intimate conversation about his recent breakup, friendship struggles with Craig Conover, and the latest Southern Charm drama. They also cover Miley Cyrus’ surprise engagement, Club Chalamet’s big Wall Street Journal feature, and key reality TV updates. As always, the team answers fan voicemails, delivering unfiltered advice and hilarious hot takes.
Weather Woes: The hosts talk about a messy, rainy NYC day, missing snowy winter vibes, and the cost of buying Christmas trees in the city.
Concert Merch and Holiday Shopping:
Wicked the Musical Hot Take: A caller rants about disliking Glinda for being a bad friend. Fran and Kelly disagree, arguing she missed the show’s main point about growth, compromise, and ambition overcoming “happily ever after” fairy tales (56:59–58:40).
Survivor v. Traitors Crossovers:
A caller reacts to Jeff Probst’s alleged frustration about Survivor cast members joining other competition shows. Fran and Kelly defend cross-promotion for broadening reality fandom, insist producers shouldn’t block contestants from other opportunities.
Hilary Duff’s Christmas Album:
Caller asks about the cult classic Santa Claus Lane Christmas album. Fran and Kelly reminisce about Hilary Duff’s early 2000s glory and agree they’d attend a Christmas tour in a heartbeat (64:44–67:34).
Advice: Friends All Having Kids? A (child-free) caller asks how to navigate friendships as everyone else transitions to parenthood.
This episode offers the ultimate reality TV gossip (straight from the source), relatable life advice, and a fun celebration of pop culture’s quirkiest stories—from heated NYC tree shopping to Timothée Chalamet’s most devoted fan. Austen Kroll gives one of his most vulnerable interviews yet, and listeners get everything from Miley’s under-the-radar engagement scoop to candid friendship advice.
