Ria
So excited.
Fran
We didn't know if we were gonna be able to have them on, but they were able both together besties together in studio. So we're super excited about that. But before we get into all of that and we get into today's episode, we need to talk about the thing that is keeping everyone's lives together right now. And that is Microsoft 365 copilot. You know, before we get into a little album discussion, our interview, we need to talk about the thing that is keeping everyone's lives organized right now.
Ria
Absolutely. And that's Microsoft Copilot. Because the world moves fast, your workday even faster. Pitching products, drafting reports, analyzing data. Fran
Exactly. And you can learn more@Microsoft.com M365Copilot so excited for today's episode. So excited to have Tara and Johnny on gonna talk all about the Olympics and traders and all of good stuff. But before we get into all of that, I really want to talk about Harry. But how Was your weekend?
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
How are you guys doing? You know, we just want to talk about Harry's new album. But how are you doing?
Ria
Good. I had a lovely weekend and you know, saw some friends, went out a little bit, had some fun. Was good. Very solid. Nice weekend at home. Friday just got to relax, catch up on some. On some programs, tv, all that jazz, you know, it was nice. Catch up on some programs.
Fran
Some good programs. Uh huh.
Ria
There was. There has been some good ones. And yeah, that's kind of it. We went to Thursday night, we did like a late birthday celebration for Gia. Her birthday was the end of February, but we were away so we didn't see her. And my brother is here in New York for a week or so. So we're like, oh, well, we'll all do that together. And it was great. So fun.
Fran
Yeah, sounds amazing. It was nice.
Ria
Sunday was. Went for a nice long walk with Olive because it was finally cracking like 60 degrees and it was so nice, which is how people are feeling. We got fake spring right now.
Fran
We're in fake spring. That's why I broke out my pink shirt. Because fake spring is here.
Ria
We're in fake spring.
Fran
I looked at my closet, I said, oh, no sweater for you today, darling. You gotta put on a pink shirt.
Ria
Exactly. And there is a, there's a viral like meme that gets shared every year where it's the seasons. You know, you don't actually have four seasons in New York. It's like eight. Because there's a. There's a fake out. There's a second summer, there's a first spring. Like there's always. You get that little bit of time. And right now it's fake spring. So you get like three, four days of beautiful sunshine, 60 degrees, and then come like the weekend again. It's gonna be cold. And we'll take it though. You get a little sprinkle of winter before we fully get to spring. Even though they are saying this is supposed to be a warmer spring than usual.
Fran
I'll take what we can get though. On a Monday. Like a Monday morning waking up a little pep with the sun shining and the weather feeling good. Like frick, I'm not complaining.
Ria
And the clocks changed, which can be a little disorienting when it comes to the morning because it's dark out still. You know, it's like. So you get the darker mornings, but this obviously later in the day. You get the later sunsets, but the wake up is disorienting because you're used to a certain amount of light outside at the normal time that you wake up. And then when your alarm goes off and you're like, it's still dark out, it kind of throws, you know, it throws you off. I think everybody kind of. Every year, it just sneaks up on you, you know, Every year it's like, oh, my God, it's this weekend. It just gets you. And even Saturday, I was talking about it with all my friends, and Sunday I still was like, oh, my God, the clocks changed, you know?
Fran
Yeah, I. I'd have no idea unless everyone was talking about it. You know, you're like, it really does sneak. You're like, oh, that's this weekend.
Ria
Yep.
Fran
But then by next weekend, you get adjusted to it and you're. You're happy that it's light out.
Ria
Exactly. Spring forward and we get those late later sunsets, which is, you know, longer days. A beautiful Sunday sunset to start us off.
Fran
It was gorgeous. It was gorgeous. Cotton candy skies. Could sing about them.
Ria
6:55pm Delightful. It just gets better and better. You realize you. You realize as you get older, it makes such a big difference, the whole daylight saving thing. Because as a kid, I don't know, you're not really paying that much attention to it. You're like, oh, the clock's changed. Whatever. Maybe it's annoying when you wake up, go to school, you're like, this sucks. But it's not. It's way more, like, impactful as an adult, I think. Cause that those winter months, they just really get you.
Fran
Mm.
Ria
And then when the clock goes and you get that first 6:55pm Sunset, you're
Fran
like, please, the tides are turning.
Noah
I think I said this last year too, but I could have swore that they, like, passed something to get rid of daily savings. And I don't know if it just like, takes a few years to, like, implement, but.
Ria
No, I know what you're talking about, but I don't know if it did. It's like it maybe got it maybe went like one round. Yeah, you know, it went one round.
Noah
Daily savings. Okay. Is not permanently ending in 2026.
Fran
Yes. Yeah. Not. Well, not now, clearly.
Ria
Yeah, I think it was talked about it ending.
Noah
While 29 states have introduced legislation to stop the changes, federal action is required to make it permanent.
Ria
Yeah, exactly. So it's like the states can do it, but then you, you know, you can't have some states doing it. Some states, not Arizona and Hawaii do not observe.
Noah
So.
Ria
Yeah, I know, I know. But imagine, like, I guess they really could. I guess it really doesn't matter. But it would just be kind of crazy if New Jersey had a different
Fran
time than New York than New Jersey. That would be, like, disorienting.
Ria
Like, it's fine because it's Arizona. We have a time difference anyway from Arizona. We're on the East Coast. But I'm saying, like, if. That. If certain states on the east coast decided to change it, and then for us, we. We spring forward and others just don't do it.
Noah
Wait, so then I didn't even realize that. So, like, Arizona is like an hour. Is an hour like, ahead of California or back or behind California for a while, I guess.
Fran
Yes.
Noah
That's interesting.
Fran
I think.
Noah
So it must be if they don't switch the clocks.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Cause. Right. It's a difference of us sometimes, like when we're. It's three hours or two hours.
Noah
Yeah. Yeah.
Ria
When you're there.
Tara Lipinski
So.
Ria
So, yeah, like, that'd be kind of crazy. You can't be commuting and having time zone a different time when you get home.
Noah
Imagine, like, Jersey passes it, but New York doesn't. So you cross a bridge and it's like you're going backwards.
Ria
That would be crazy, wouldn't it?
Fran
That would be crazy. It would be crazy if.
Ria
It's crazy if I just said that.
Noah
Yeah. Oh, fucking.
Fran
Fuck, yeah. That would be so insane. If Fran would just be so crazy
Ria
if I looked at Ray and said, we can't have New Jersey and New York having different times.
Fran
And then I said, yeah, that would be disorienting.
Noah
You know what's crazy is speaking of me, like, repeating things. We put out that clip of, like, the Birkin bag thing, and I found out from a comment that you had already said that we had already been
Fran
talking earlier about how we didn't have Birkins. Yes. That's okay. You know what? We love you for it. Yeah.
Ria
That one was not as egregious. This one. I just said it maybe 15 seconds ago.
Noah
I thought you were talking about going, hey, Fran.
Fran
Hey, Fran. Maybe it's just the tone of your voice. Maybe.
Ria
Maybe, you know, aren't you happy that
Noah
I don't just do it to you?
Fran
Yeah. Well, yeah.
Ria
Now everybody.
Fran
Yeah. Remember when he told me it was the.
Ria
The tone of your voice or whatever,
Fran
the frequency of my voice. Your voice just. It's a certain frequency.
Noah
So it's like when you play that ringing noise and dogs. Only dogs can hear it.
Fran
Yeah, exactly.
Ria
That's how we sound to you now. Yeah, that was funny. People really laughed at that clip. And I Saw a lot of people saying, hey, I think Noah. Noah's got to get the girls Birkins.
Fran
Oh, my God. And Noah owes us a Birkin bag.
Ria
A shared one. We'd have to share it.
Fran
He can't.
Noah
He can't get to your Birkin, Hook it up. You know, I. I'm not paying for
Ria
it, but no one's hooking that up.
Noah
But you don't think Rob got, like, some stupid.
Fran
Absolutely not.
Noah
A lot of people online I'm seeing
Fran
thinking, hook it up.
Noah
Like, he tagged the place.
Fran
No, no, no, no.
Ria
See, here's the thing. People would assume that because in most other industries. Yes, that would work. Like, if it was a piece of jewelry or, like, I think there's places that maybe that could happen. Not for free, but perhaps a discount. A Birkin.
Fran
No, I don't thank him.
Ria
I think he's saying thank you because that he didn't have to fly to Paris.
Fran
Yeah. Like, thank you just for being able to give this to me.
Noah
Isn't this, like, a secondhand? Like, this isn't, like, coming straight from the company.
Fran
You're still not gonna get a discount.
Ria
No, you're not getting a discount. If anything, it could be more expensive,
Noah
but that's the first thing.
Ria
Bags are more rare.
Noah
That's kind of more on the cheaper side for Birkins.
Fran
No, not necessarily.
Noah
15 to 20. Oh, really?
Fran
Well, I think Birkins can be very, very expensive.
Ria
Yeah, it depends on the material, the hardware. You know, there's certain. Like, an exotic Birkin where it's. Those can be hundreds. Hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Noah
What's that come from? The moon? Like, exotic.
Ria
Yeah, well, it's.
Fran
Yeah, Yeah.
Ria
I don't know. That they make out of, like, alligator and stuff.
Fran
Well, no one will get us a burk in it, then. We'll just share it. Like, we'll do designated weekends.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
We have shared custody.
Fran
Yeah. We just have. Of our child.
Noah
I really think that if you, like, made it your goal. Like, I'm getting, like, you don't. I'm sure you could get one. Like, it would probably take a lot of work maybe, but, yeah, it's not like, say, money's not an object. Like, you could get one.
Ria
It's not that. It's like, we're like, oh, my God. It's so insanely unattainable for us. It's just more so. We don't want to spend that much money on a bag.
Fran
Yeah, you got to go through the approval process.
Ria
It's a whole thing. You Gotta. If you have one that you like, you gotta source. We're just lazy, I guess. It's like a mat. Like, it's. It's not even.
Fran
I don't even.
Ria
Like, that's what I'm saying. Like, we don't love the bag so much that we're. I'm willing to drop tens of thousands of dollars on this bag because, like, I don't love the bag that much.
Fran
Exactly. I don't, like, want this bag.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Really bad.
Ria
If I wanted it that badly.
Noah
You have to look at it as, like, an investment, because then it is.
Ria
That is how many people look at their collections of bags.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
But. Yes.
Noah
Wouldn't you always be worried, though? You'd be like, it's just in my apartment. Like, what if someone broke into my apartment?
Ria
Well, look at what happens to all the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is they've had their really, like, so many of them had their houses broken into and all their shit gets taken. All their bags, all their jewelry.
Noah
Did you see you were right about Jake Shane Rob going on Jake Shane's podcast.
Fran
Yeah. I think Lisa.
Ria
I think Lisa spilled the beans.
Fran
Flipped up a little bit there.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah.
Ria
I don't know if Lisa was supposed to say that, but we could have
Fran
put two and two together.
Ria
Yeah. I mean, kind of makes sense. It's like, if they're recording the podcast together, then it's like, hey, Jake, can you come along with us?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
I watched. I watched Nick Jonas on Therapist and it really cracked me up because Nick is just, like, too serious all the time.
Fran
He is so serious.
Ria
Sometimes I'm just like, loosen up, my guy. And he's like, yeah, I'm a Virgo. And everyone says I'm a very typical Virgo. But I kept giggling because it was the most Nick thing ever that he was able to spin. Jake asking about the Send it on music video into how it was actually a really great cause that Disney was advocating for and, like, they wanted to get the message out there taking care of the planet. And, like, goes on this whole thing about, you know, why it was impactful at the time for young kids to care about the planet and all these things. And meanwhile, I'm like. Cause Jake was like, what was that like, making that video? You know, Jake just wanted the tea from a Behind the scenes of the Set it on video. And Nick's like, well, we were trying to save the planet. Okay, Jake.
Fran
No, I know. He is literally, like, he really knows how to spin all of his answers.
Ria
That's why they called him Mr. President.
Noah
I saw the clip about like the. Him calling it Love island on crack. The Disney games.
Fran
Yeah, yeah, but that wasn't really like,
Noah
it's not that serious guy. Like people are trying to. It's like. But you kind of make it sound ser. Like when he talks, he's like, talks in a serious way.
Ria
He, he really.
Fran
You just want to like shake him up a little bit and be like, sometimes it's all right to loosen up a little bit, Nick. You don't got to give that serious of an answer. You're on there. You're on a show called Therapists. Yeah. Where he calls his fans pussies. Yeah. So I mean, shake it up a little bit.
Ria
And there were times where they were like, you know, they're totally having fun. But it is funny because I feel like Jake can jump around from topic to topic. And so like, they'll be talking about one thing and then be like, actually, you know what, let's talk about this ended on music video. And he's like, sure, what do you want to know about it? It was like, what was it like? He's like, well, we were trying to save the planet.
Fran
Yeah, he did get a little bit by being like, you know, it was a little crazy just because, you know, you have a lot of big personalities,
Ria
the schedules and all that. I actually watched a TikTok this weekend that, you know when you just all of a sudden are caught watching a TikTok and it's like a 10 minute long video, but you're like, I'm watching this whole thing. It was a like 2008, 9 breakdown of Nick Miley and Selena and God, I was hooked. And it took me back to. It took me back. And I'm seeing these pictures and these interviews and I'm like, wow, what a time. You really forget. It's just like the, the way that they would speak about each other is like Barbara Walters is asking them these very intimate questions.
Fran
Always.
Ria
It was like for some reason, Barbara Walters, I'm like, she's talking about, you know, she's talking to them about Miley's book and like their breakup and all these things. I'm like, they were literally like 15 years old.
Fran
They were so young. And the way that like these. And a lot of times it was Barbara Walters would ask these kids questions and then be like, like, even like Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake would be like, you're. Are you a virgin? It's like, imagine just getting into an interview and asking that.
Ria
Like, it's Crazy.
Fran
That would never fly.
Ria
It really took me out.
Fran
They asked young kids when they were. And especially, like, kids who were dating, like, Nick, Miley and Selena.
Ria
And you know what they were talking about? Like, they played a clip of Miley before she sang Full Circle. And she was like, on stage and she was like, I wrote this song about, you know, someone is always going to be in my. Like, we just always kind of keep coming back to each other. And then she's like, you know, spoilers about it. It's about a generous mother, like, you know, and everyone cheers and freaks out. And no wonder Nick is like this, because then they. There was another interview where there. You couldn't see the person interviewing them. It was like a, you know, video hit or something. And the guy was talking about Miley, like, writing songs about him, and then he's like, you think you should be getting some residuals from all these songs she's writing about you? And he's like, ha. Funny. Like, you're like, yeah. What the fuck is he supposed to say to that?
Fran
Like, what kind of question is that?
Ria
Yeah, yeah, they were.
Fran
They really were.
Ria
They really got. It's wild.
Fran
They were trying to bait people, like, a lot.
Ria
And I think he really is, like, jaded from that. I think he has gotten, you know, he can be very, like, diplomatic in his. In his interviews, and not that he would ever be like, oh, yeah. Let me tell you, all the things like that was happening with me and Miley and Selena when we were 15, like, it's. It's over and everyone's married. Like, it's not something that they probably want to rehash because then everybody would have a million things to say.
Fran
If anyone's gonna talk about it, it'll be Miley Cyrus.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
I feel like she can be an open book a lot of times.
Ria
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fran
And she'll just be like, it was fucking crazy.
Ria
Yeah. And it's just not that. It's just not that deep because it's like, for us, it was that deep. It is deep.
Noah
I know.
Ria
It's just, like, so crazy, though, because for us, it was so deep because it just, like, took over our lives. It's literally all we cared about for them.
Fran
They're like, we were so.
Ria
You guys are obsessed with my relationship when I was 15. Like, imagine. I can't even imagine what life would be like if I was constantly asked about the person I dated when I was 15.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
It would not be fun. I'd be like, I don't. Shut up.
Fran
Yeah. Like, let's put, like, Nick's. Like, I am a married man.
Noah
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah, exactly. But no, they were that. It did. It did make me giggle watching them. Watching them talk.
Fran
For sure, it made me laugh, but it was also making me slightly uncomfortable.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Because I was like, okay, you could laugh, Nick. It's all right here. But besides that, I think that we really just want to dive into Harry's whole album song by song, because my goodness gracious, am I thrilled. I listened to this on Friday by the pool, had a nice weekend in Florida, just, you know, some family, some family fun. It was great. And then Friday the album comes out, and I'm like, oh, the perfect time to listen to this in the sunshine, then in my headphones, then on the plane, then at home on the. On the Netflix show. Like, I was like, oh, my God. I was just eating it all up. So I think we're gonna get into Harry Styles album song by song discourse, as well as the weekly Watch report, because we have a lot to discuss with that and a great interview with Tara and Johnny, which we are so, so excited about. So let's get into it. We're so excited to be headed back on tour with Rum Haven. This weekend. We are going to be serving up some delicious Rum Haven cocktails in Seattle and San Diego. And honestly, we're going to have a nice time on a little rooftop drinking some Rum Haven, maybe having a little photo shoot. And we cannot wait for it, because right now, the world is loud, it's filtered, it is fake. But not here, not with us and not with Rum Haven. Rumhaven is where the noise fades and the real comes out, where you can unbutton expectations and sip on what's true and what's natural. And that is rumhaven. One taste of pure cane sugar and real coconut water will let you feel the difference. And it's what real tastes like. That place, that feeling, that mindset where everything finds its balance. So open up a bottle of rumhaven, lose that small talk and find the good vibes, because the best moments aren't fake. They're simply real. Like Rom Haven made for real. So exciting. Harry Styles new album, Kiss all the Time Disco occasionally came out on Friday. And listen, ladies and gentlemen. Mostly ladies. I was, you know, a little bit nervous because I have high hopes for my guy Harry. I was like, am I gonna love this album? We already got tickets to the show in London in June.
Ria
I'm just so excited.
Fran
Harry's house wasn't my favorite, but Fine Line is, like, my favorite Album ever. How am I gonna feel? Us? And the way that I feel is that I love this album. I am so thrilled. I am so happy. I also have an enormous sense of relief because, my goodness, what would I say if I didn't like this album right here, right now? I would have to, like, break it to everybody that I didn't like this album. That would be heartbreaking. That would be heartbreaking. It would. But that is not how I feel.
Ria
No, you couldn't have gone back to Backy too, You know, that would have been tough.
Fran
Oh, no. Because then it would be like, okay, so you only like Fine Line. You know, that would be really tough. No, no. I love this album. I am so excited. We're gonna go song by song. I have the track list pulled up. Short album only, 42 minutes, 12 songs. I like it, though. It's concise. Yeah. Which means I like every song on here. Like, there's not a song that I don't like.
Ria
And I will say, I think we probably nailed it pretty well. When we were talking about the album, when the name came out, that we thought, oh, super exciting, you know, disco, maybe. That's the kind of vibe we're getting. And then we were like, it does say disco occasionally.
Fran
Occasionally.
Ria
And honestly, I feel like I'm glad we kind of went into it thinking that way because, yes, there are totally the ones you want to get up and dance to. But then there are some, you know, deeper, slower ones that are just beautiful. Some of his best ever, I think.
Fran
Really. Just incredible. Harold, like, the way that you saved us with this album this weekend. Like, thank you so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Harry Edward Styles, I love you. I freaking love you. Anyways, we'll start from the top. So the first song on the album is Aperture.
Ria
Yep.
Fran
Now, this was the first single on the album.
Ria
Yep.
Fran
And I have to say, Aperture probably on my bottom list of songs that I like on this album.
Noah
Really?
Fran
Yes.
Ria
That's still pretty high on mine.
Noah
That's like a top five for me.
Fran
Oh, really? Yeah. I still love it, but I love so many that this kind of falls towards the bottom for me.
Ria
That's fair.
Fran
Which was.
Noah
When you listened to the album, did you listen to Aperture first or do you skip it because you're like, I already heard it.
Fran
No, I listened to Aperture first.
Ria
I skipped it on my first listen. My first and second listen, I skipped it. But then as like, walking around or like, doing cleaning in the apartment or walking the dog, I'm starting with number One. So then I would press, then I would go Aperture all the way to the end.
Fran
Yeah. First listen, I listened to it and I just was more and more surprised each song by how much I loved each one. And it got better and better to me as it went on. Although I do love a lot of the initial songs. But Aperture, we already discussed, so we can move on from that. American Girls. This is gonna be an instant hit.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
For. For most people. Noah even texted me on the side. He was like, this is a banger. And I'm like, absolutely.
Noah
That's either that or Aperture is probably my favorite.
Ria
Yeah. American Girls, it's just very catchy. Certainly not his, like, deepest, but it is catchy as hell. And I love the music video. Honestly, one too many tears shed for me on TikTok this weekend. Like, I just. Sometimes it just gets you and all the fan. I was getting so many fan edits and everything. And there's a lot of the fandom making some One Direction parallels from this album. Because I will say, and I think I agree that there was like some of the. More like One Direction esque sounding songs.
Fran
Sometimes I felt I saw someone say
Noah
some connections on this American Girl, specifically that it kind of has One Direction.
Ria
And in the music video, you know, he's. He's solo on the motorcycle. Like, that camera view is almost identical to what they did for. That's what makes you. That's what makes you beautiful. And obviously he was with the other guys and now it's just him solo and that there were. There was for sure some. Some parallels there that had people in their feels, which is so fair. I think there's probably a. You know, there's a lot of introspective moments on this album, and I've seen a lot of people fighting, you know, fans. This song's about this. No, it's about that. This song. No, it's not like. But I live in my thought processes. A song can have multiple meanings or multiple references. You know what I'm saying? Like, some people sing, see the lyrics, and they see one lyric, and they're like, the whole song is about this because of the one lyric. I'm like, well, maybe that lyric is a callback to that. Maybe the next lyric is a callback to this. Like, it can be multiple things in one song.
Fran
Absolutely.
Ria
But everyone's so quick to be like, that song's about this. That song's about that. Yeah.
Fran
I think he. Most artists probably draw inspiration from many things and can incorporate into one song this one's pretty straightforward. Love American girls, Friends are in love with American girls. And it's just pretty repetitive. Very, very catchy. The next song on the album is Ready, Steady Go. I love this song. I see that this is on the bottom of a lot of people's list.
Noah
I was surprised by that too.
Fran
I really love.
Ria
I really like this song too.
Fran
Immediately it brought me back to, like, shopping in Abercrombie or Hollister in middle school.
Ria
Yeah. Yeah.
Fran
Especially towards the end of the song. And when he performed it in the Netflix special, he had the. You know, the. I don't even know what it's called, but to, like, muffle his voice up a little bit, which I thought was really cool. This one I keep going back to as. As one that I really like and is pretty high up there for me on this album. I like. You know, there's. There's a couple of lyrics on. On this album where you're like, huh? But it works. Yeah. He's, like, butterflied both our bellies. I'm like, you know what? I get it. I get what he's saying. It's said in a different way, but I get it. You and me are skipping sleep with dirty feet, and it's. It's a lot of love in. In a lot of these songs. Definitely the one after that is. Are you listening yet? This is a top every song. I'm like, this is a top song for me. Are you listening yet? Really is a top three for me on this album. I freaking love this song. I just love the way that he gets into it. I love that. You know, I don't even know the word that I'm looking for, but it's like fast pace, and it just gets me going.
Ria
Yeah. You know, he really does love a repetitive chorus. Not in a bad way. Just like, you know what I'm saying? When you hear. And I don't know if this is gonna sound silly, but, like, when you hear the song title and it obviously matches up perfectly with the chorus, but that is the line that is repeated over and over again. So even, like, ready seti go? You're like, ready, steady, go. Like, it just immediately starts playing that one part over and over. It's all same without you listening.
Fran
It's.
Ria
Are you listening? Oh, it's so good. And he's like. It's.
Fran
It's like he's. He's talking to us, and he's like, are you listening yet?
Ria
Yeah, this one is very chatty. It's less singy and more chatty.
Fran
I liked it, though. I like to hear him chatty. I like the way that he performed it too. Yeah. He was very into it.
Noah
I was curious to see how he. Because a lot of these songs aren't, like, easy to perform, I'd say, because there's a lot of production.
Ria
A lot of production.
Fran
Yeah.
Noah
But it was cool how he did it. Like, I thought microphones and.
Fran
Yeah, I thought that was really cool. The next one is Tasteback. This seems to be a crowd favorite.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah, I do.
Ria
I like Tasteback.
Fran
I like tasteback. I wouldn't say it's quite yet at the top of my list, but I. It's growing on me more and more. After Tasteback is the Waiting Game. Yeah.
Ria
This is a lull for me. These two I could kind of like. I find myself really being pulled to the first few songs and then the last few songs and these couple in the middle. I don't know what it is about. And I see people loving the Waiting Game, but I don't know what it is. There's something about that, like, the beep, beep, beep, boop, like, that's happening in the background that really, like, doesn't. I don't like it. Like, there's something that is just kind of the whole rest of it I really like. And it's weird. Cause in my head, I think I'm just so distracted by the beeps. And I'm like, if the beeps were out of this, I think I'd really love this song. But the beeps are too much for me.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Which is. It's silly and not like, it's a crazy thing to focus on, but there's something in my brain that's like, I don't like these beeps.
Fran
I would say the Waiting Game and season two Weight Loss are the two songs I listen to the least.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
On this album, I think that maybe I'll go back to them a bit more to see if they'll grow on me. But right now, they are not the two that I keep going back to. Yeah. And they're kind of. I could skip them.
Ria
Yeah. This was a little bit of, like, the. These two. My first listen. Like, these two. I was like, okay, all right. And then. And then, you know, once we hit Coming Up Roses, I was like, right. This Coming Up Roses, the end of the album is. Is no notes. Fantastic. I was like, this might be his best consecutive songs in a row.
Fran
Yeah. The. The rest of it is unbelievable. After season two, Weight Loss is Coming Up Roses, which to me might Be a top three Harry Styles song in general.
Ria
Can we go back to season two weight loss for one second? Because I thought it was funny that he said because at first you're like, what the fuck does that mean? And he. In his Zane Lowe interview, he explained, like, you know, when you watch, like, a Netflix show and they get one season and they get signed on for another season, everybody kind of comes back with, like a glow up and they, like, look different and like, all these things. I was like, that's. That's a pretty funny concept for a song. And not sort of what I expected, but it did. It did make me laugh.
Fran
Yeah. It makes more sense now because I think everyone was confused at that title. Like, what is this song going to be about?
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Still probably could have been named something else, but we'll let it slide.
Ria
No, but you're absolutely right about color roses. Truly. I had one of the most gorgeous songs.
Fran
I had to, like, take deep breaths.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
While listening to the song and still do. Because the way that it hits me so emotionally. First of all, the orchestra. This entire song musically is just gorgeous.
Ria
It's chills. Goosebumps every time.
Fran
Immediate chills. But on top of that, the lyrics for this song are probably the deepest on this album besides Paint by numbers, I think. Yeah. Because a lot of these lyrics are not super deep on. It's just a lot of fun. Yeah. But this song is so beautiful. And to me, it brings it just like. Oh, it gives you that, like, warm feeling of falling in love. And I just love it. And the laying, you know, you lay your head on my chest, I'm like, oh, yes. You know, it just. Ooh. It just does it for me.
Ria
Yeah. The strings. Just that second half with the strings moment is just, like, breathtaking.
Fran
It's just so beautiful. And I swear, like, I had to hold myself together every time I put the song on. I'm like, why am I having deep breaths? Crying to the song every time? But it just hits a part deep in my soul that I really, you know, really feel something with this song. And I think it is so beautifully done. I think it's some of his best work ever. It is a top three Harry song for me, hands down. I will continue going back to this one for the rest of my life. Like, oh, my God. And I. And I love the name of it, too.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Beautiful.
Ria
I've seen people really throw everything. They. They're like this song at my wedding immediately, you know, it's just a gorgeous. And. And I don't think it's maybe like the happiest. Does that make sense?
Fran
Because I feel like no, but it has, you know, happy moments. Like.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
I love the phrase let's go hangover chasing. I've never heard that. I think that's fun.
Ria
Love that.
Fran
It's like that's. That's something we could say going forward. Like, you know, let's go hangover chasing tonight. Like, you're going to go get your drink on. You know, you're going to get a hangover and who cares? Because it's just me and you and we're going to deal with that. And then I absolutely just love the. But we'll see out the night with your head on my chest, me and you. Because that's just. Oh, that's where I belong, you know? Like, that is just the best feeling. And I just. I absolutely am in love with this song. It's way to go, Harry.
Ria
You are right. It's. It's top three, if not number one, to be honest. Like, for Harry's best songs ever. Ever.
Fran
Yeah. Wow.
Noah
Coming up, like, what would be the other ones? What are your other top Harry songs?
Fran
I mean, for me is up there. For me, Sign of the Times is up there.
Noah
Cherry, I like a lot from the first album, too.
Fran
Yeah. Carolina. Yeah.
Noah
Sweet creatures. Honestly, like.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
I think for me, she is always up there as probably my favorite.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Harry Styles song.
Ria
And I'm even. I'm just going, like, not even preference, because I think everyone has their top three. That's your preference. I'm just thinking of just
Fran
musicality.
Ria
Objectively. Stunning.
Fran
Stunning.
Ria
You know?
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Just musically like you. You no matter what kind of music you like, if you like hair, if you don't like hair or you listen to that song, you're like, that's just a stunning song.
Fran
Yeah. I think I'd maybe go number one. She. And then it's two and three is Sign of the Times and Coming Up Roses. But I'm going back and forth right now because right now it'd be Coming Up Roses, but Sign of the Times. Yeah. Is probably number two. And number three would probably be Coming Up Roses. But Coming Up Roses might sneak to the top with more listens because it's that beautiful and it gives me just that feeling throughout my. Throughout my whole body just chills. Next one after that is pop. Pop is so fun. I think that the rest of the songs on this album are fantastic. Like you said, no notes. 10 out of 10 for the rest.
Ria
This was quite the run after these last five Songs. I was like, oh, yes.
Fran
Pop is so fun. Pop is the one that he had Brittney Broski listen to.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
On Royal Court. Yep. And you can tell her reaction now. You know why her reaction was that way.
Noah
Yep.
Ria
Which I love too, by the way. We didn't even really talk about that. I love seeing Harry having fun and giggling, because a lot of times I do think they do. He does very serious interviews when he puts new albums out. And he always sits down with Zane Lowe, which is, like. It's interesting to listen to, but in all honesty, sometimes I listen and I'm like, do they even know what they're saying? Like, it's just, like, so. Everything's so deep.
Fran
A lot of music jargon.
Ria
Yes. It's, like, very, like, introspective. And what did this note mean? And this things. And I'm like, oh, yes, absolutely. Do that for the. For the new album. I get it. But mixing in the fun stuff for press is also great too. So seeing him do World Court, I thought was so funny and being able to make fun of himself, like, joke and laugh. His hairline joke was very funny.
Fran
I have to say, though, right now, Harry's hair is, like, really not doing it for me.
Ria
He's got that British bloody haircut. It's like an oasis. Yeah.
Fran
Whatever's going on. It's like. I was looking at the videos that I had on my phone from 2021 of him in concert. He looks so damn good. His hair was like, you know, like, had, like a curl to it, the whole thing. And we always love Harry, but right now, his hair, for me, is.
Ria
I kind of like it.
Fran
Really.
Ria
It's got kind of got that, like,
Noah
kind of a mullet.
Fran
It's giving Ryan Seacrest at times.
Ria
Oh, no, See, I think it's like Ryan Secret. I think it's like. No, I think it's like the Gallagher brothers situation. Like, he's got that British.
Noah
Did, you know, Hair transplant.
Fran
No. He joked on the Royal Court that he did, but he didn't. I don't. I don't think. But.
Ria
But yeah, it is very, like, you know, it's got the long and the tail.
Fran
It's almost more the sideburns here that are really long and then, like, the tail in the back.
Ria
Yeah.
Noah
By the way, have you seen all the videos of him just walking around New York this weekend?
Fran
Yes. More people ran into him.
Noah
The Brooklyn Bridge.
Ria
I saw some people that were like, definitely did see him. And then some, like, saw Harry Styles, like, impersonator.
Noah
No. There was one where they said that they saw him, like, on the bridge and they were listening to the album and they showed him. And that's the video where he, like,
Fran
fist bumps and like, oh, yeah, my dream.
Ria
He really does just. He really does just love walking around.
Fran
He does. Like, God, I just wasn't here this weekend or else I would have been walking around.
Ria
Maybe I would ran into him, Right. And he's just enjoying his time because he's doing SNL this week. But he did pop into SNL for Ryan Gosling on Saturday night.
Fran
He did. And I was just like, oh, my God. Imagine you get tickets to snl. You're sitting and then Harry's next to you. Like, what a treat.
Ria
Seriously, what an absolute treat. But no, pop is so. Pop is so fun. Like, yeah, the pop and Dance no More are just fun songs.
Fran
I am so sickly obsessed with Dance no More. This is. Here's the thing. I am torn between this being my number one or number two on the album. Because Coming Up Rose, as I say, is.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
But in terms of dance fun. Yeah. So I'd maybe say Coming Up Roses number one, Dance no More is a very close number two. They are so, so, so different that it's hard to judge them. Dance no More is so freaking fun. And it's exactly what I was looking for from this album. Yeah. As soon as I hit play on this song, I was like, yes, yes, Harry.
Ria
Like, this is exactly such a.
Fran
Sorry to be screaming. That's why this song made me feel.
Ria
It's such a funny lyric.
Fran
It is DJ.
Ria
DJs don't dance no More. And they sit and you know what?
Fran
It's like. You're absolutely correct. You know what I mean? Like, all they're doing sometimes is pressing fucking buttons.
Ria
And Harry's up there, he's press his
Fran
buttons, he's dancing around on the stage. I am upset.
Noah
Me like David Bowie.
Fran
Yes. Like, and also gave me.
Noah
And then when they're Floyd.
Fran
Yes. Pink Floyd. Another Brick in the Wall.
Noah
Another Brick in the Wall.
Fran
Yes.
Noah
That's what I was saying with the way that they, like, say, like, what he said.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
That's why I ate it up. Because I love that song. And I. That, oh, gives me chills. Like, you know. Oh, God, you're so right. This one is just so, so, so good. And I'm obsessed with it. And I wanted, you know. But like, he said disco occasionally, but he gave us. He gave us disco in this. But I will say it was diabolical for him to Go from dance no more into paint by numbers.
Ria
Yeah. Yeah.
Fran
It's like, you sick son of a bitch. You had us dancing our asses off.
Noah
But you said breather.
Fran
Absolutely vibing. No, but then we had to take a crier. We didn't have to take a breather.
Ria
We had to take a crier. Another one. Because two spaces out, like, you gotta space up. Coming up. Roses and paintbrush.
Fran
You gotta.
Ria
You know, like, they can't be back to back.
Fran
But how are you gonna have me dancing to D More and then have me crying to paint by numbers? Because to me, this was my interpretation of Paint by numbers. And I'm sure other people have other interpretations, and I'm sure it can mean many things. But holding the weight of the American children whose hearts you break to me felt like one direction. Like, he's talking about maybe their breakup.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
Liam's passing. Like, I thought that there were a lot of tones. Playing with water guns was about Olivia
Ria
Wilde's kids, and I really don't think.
Fran
I don't think it is. He's saying it's a lifetime of picking one or the other kids with water guns. Watch them run.
Noah
Yeah.
Ria
No, I can't.
Fran
The amount of times. Oh, my God, I have chills. The amount of times they were on stage, like, spraying each other with water guns. And, like, I thought. As soon as I heard this song, I thought, oh, this feels like.
Ria
This felt very introspective on him and his youth and growing up.
Fran
And when he was asked about this, he immediately went into talking about the passing of his friend and losing a friend. So I do.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
Think it has tones of that in this song, and that's what I took from it. And I do think it's actually pretty
Ria
crazy seeing the fandom fight over, like, what they think this song is about. I'm like, well, I'm sure there could be references to multiple things, but I really do think he's, you know, more so talking about his own experiences from that age and, like, how now looking back, how he felt.
Fran
And I just. I.
Ria
And losing a friend and losing somebody in the group. And.
Fran
Yeah, I'm not even. I guess because people are stuck on the Olivia Wilde. That didn't even cross my mind. And I still am because they're talking about.
Ria
They, like, oh, like the 30. You know, him mentioning 33. But I'm like, that could just be a Liam reference.
Fran
And they're.
Ria
They.
Fran
Yeah. Because they were all not 33 yet. So I felt this one deeply. Yeah. I thought that this was A bit of a heavy one. Another song, though.
Ria
Yeah, it really is.
Fran
And then the last one on the album is Carla Song.
Johnny Weir
Yeah.
Fran
And I think that this is a great way to wrap up this album. I think that this song is great, really. I think it's fun, interesting, and a great way to close out the album.
Ria
Agreed. And, you know, shout out Carla because what a dream it would be to have Harry Styles write a song dedicated to you. Carla is a real person, just one of his friends and they've, you know, had a musical connection and.
Noah
About Paul Simon.
Ria
Yeah, about Paul Simon.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And now he's just got. You got a whole ass. Carla Song. It's a fun song. Really cool. And I think it was a really good way to end the album because it felt like a little bit of everything. It felt like a little bit of that sort of electronic synth stuff that he was. That he's doing, but also, you know, more lyrical and more singy. Does that make sense than just, like, how some of the earlier songs are? And it just kind of pulled it all together to end it in that way, because I kind of see it in, like, sections, you know, Aperture to Season two, Weight Loss. There's a lot of that. I saw people saying, you know, he had talked a lot about LCD sound system and things like that. And while, yes, there's. It's not like, in your face. Oh, my God. This totally has, like, an LCD sound system sound. There's definitely, you know, more of an electronic production element in that first half, I feel like. And then you get Coming Up Roses, you get Paint by Numbers. But then, like, Pop Dancer, more dance and more. Have way more of, like, pop and dance. No, more have a little bit more of that disco Y vibe. Then the first half is definitely, you know, you can dance to it for sure, but it definitely has more electronic production.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
So it's like a little bit of disco, but a little bit of current pop. Electronic dance music combination.
Fran
Just dinging it all. Yeah. I'm just totally obsessed with this album. I think that this is my second favorite Harry album ever. I think Fine Line is number one. Kiss all the Time. Disco, occasionally Number two. His debut, Number three. Although I do love his debut album. Like, that is a. That's an album that is up there for me. And I. You know, I went to bed struggling with this last night thinking, would I put that at number two or would I put this one at number two? But sometimes it's so hard to do
Ria
right when a new album comes out, you know, But I Just think.
Fran
Think right now I'm gonna put it at number two. Yeah. Maybe I'll switch back years from now.
Ria
Yeah. I think it's. Cause it always changes. And then when a new album comes out, that shifts everything around.
Fran
And also, part of me wants to respect, like, Harry's grown, you know, like, this is the music that Harry wants to put out right now, and I'm gonna support him. Right. And I love it. And then Harry's house will fall last for me. But, God, am I just feeling.
Noah
You want top five songs?
Fran
Yes, I will give my top five songs for this album. I will do. Oh, God, it's so hard to order them.
Ria
I love it. I. I'm so happy.
Fran
I just am so happy. I'm gonna do number one. Coming Up Roses. Number two, Dance. No more number three. Are you listening yet? Oh, this is too hard for me. Oh, this is too hard. Oh, God,
Ria
it's really hard. I don't know what to do either, because it just changes.
Fran
I'm gonna go paint by numbers. Yeah. And I'm gonna go Ready, Steady Go. But I do really love American Girls, and I love Carla's song and I love pop.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
So I'm.
Ria
All the other songs.
Fran
I love all the other songs. Besides the waiting game is.
Ria
Waiting game is easy to do. Weight loss. We both just have at the bot.
Fran
Oh, don't put this list out.
Noah
No, we're making these graphics. Come on.
Ria
Yeah. By the way, that's this list for sure.
Fran
Because that's gonna change by the time the graphic comes out.
Ria
I know. It always does.
Noah
That's the beauty of it. Ugh.
Fran
Cause American Girls is just so good. But I feel like that's just, like an obvious. It's obviously good, you know? Yeah.
Ria
But you gotta put it on the. You know, it's.
Fran
But I think it's just if you
Noah
do, you sign of the times. Obviously good, too.
Fran
Yeah.
Noah
Like, the obviously good songs are. Are obviously good.
Fran
I. You're right. Like, I'm like, what if it's obviously good? Then why wouldn't it be in my top five?
Ria
Yeah, I think I would go dance. No, I think I would go Coming Up Roses. I got the same one and two going. Coming Up Roses Dance. No more American Girls. Carla's song. Ready, Steady Go. Even though aperture, like, I think does crack my top five aperture, like, would be six. Like, aperture and Ready Steady Go are. Are interchangeable in my mind.
Fran
I think I might have to change Paint by numbers in American Girls because I think I will listen to American Girls more yeah, but I really.
Ria
Paint by Numbers is a gorgeous song.
Fran
I just think Paint by Numbers is a gorgeous one.
Noah
Like you're saying, like Paint by Numbers is out.
Fran
Yeah, take Paint by by Numbers out and put American Girls in. But Paint by Numbers, it seems so special to me that I don't want to just neglect it. So that'll be six.
Ria
I think you got it. I. Yeah, I. I gotta switch.
Noah
There's no six.
Ria
Ready said. Hey. I think I really do like ready, steady, go. But if I were listening like back and forth Aperture, I'm going rapature. I think 5 is aperture for me. I do really like aperture. I think I just have bias because I've been listening to it for weeks. I've been listening to it for weeks already. What makes people not like it or not, it makes people not want to put it on their list. Because it's like I've been listening to it for weeks and now I have all these new songs to listen to. But when I think about it in the grand scheme and honestly, listening to it in the Netflix thing was actually really helpful. Like him playing it first and last. I was like, this song really fucking.
Noah
And obviously he loves it.
Fran
Yeah, he loves it.
Noah
Then played it twice.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah.
Noah
Yeah.
Ria
How about him singing from the dining table? That was awesome.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Something he never does. And the crowd went crazy. You could hear them all singing at the top of their lungs. Because then of course he did, you know, Golden as it was. Ramen Sugar did that Sound of the Times played the hits. But then he threw in one for everybody there, which I thought was really cool because you never hear him sing from the dining table.
Fran
No, I'm. I'm curious about what his set set list is going to be like, cuz I'm like, are you gonna not play a song that I love from this album?
Noah
He's not gonna play everyone.
Ria
Yeah, he probably won't play.
Fran
Oh, but I'm like, what?
Noah
I don't know. No, he's not gonna play all.
Ria
No, he's not gonna play all.
Fran
He's not gonna play all of them. But concerts are pretty long though.
Noah
Like there's not that many. I mean, I don't. Yeah, he won't.
Ria
Yeah, but he never. It's not like he played every song from Harry's house. At Harry's house.
Noah
No. Yeah.
Fran
Well, I'm just thrilled. I just am so freakin happy. And I cannot wait. I can't believe we get to see this man perform this in person. Oh, God, thank you, Harry.
Ria
Let me tell you Something. We are going to be a goddamn puddle when he does. Coming up Roses. And they bring the whole. I'm sure he'll have the whole string section. All the musicians on stage just listening to it on Netflix. It sounded unbelievable. And just like those moments in real life when you just. When you can experience music like that and a beautiful string section like that, it's. Nothing is better.
Fran
It really.
Ria
It sends a shiver down my spine just thinking about it. It's so stunning.
Fran
It really is. I wish that I had written down the timestamp of the specific note.
Ria
Oh, yeah, I know. I know exactly what you're talking about. Oh, I know the exact.
Tara Lipinski
Screw you.
Fran
Yep.
Ria
I believe that's the one where I was walking to. To breakfast on Friday and just one tear fell down my face. And right as it hit that one
Fran
note, it's just that one.
Ria
Just one part. And you're like, oh, yeah. Yep. I couldn't agree more.
Fran
Like a thorn from a stem. Right at that part, you know?
Ria
And we all know the exact one we're talking about.
Fran
We do.
Ria
We all know the exact one we're talking about.
Fran
Well, honestly, this is my favorite album that. That has come out in a long time, like, in general. And that just fricking warms my life.
Ria
Thank you, Harry. Thank you, Harry.
Fran
I love you, Harry. Oh, my God. Good night, Manchester. All right, moving on. We're getting into the weekly Watch report, but I'm so excited to crack open a Pepsi Prebiotic Cola. This is the cherry vanilla flavor. I'm going to take a sip. I am obsessed with this cherry vanilla Pepsi Prebiotic Cola. It is so good. Whether I'm having it with my lunch as a midday pick me up, or I'm just sitting on the couch, I want to crack open a Pepsi or for dinner, really any time of the day. This works. It is so good. And it comes in two flavors. You have the classic cola or the cherry vanilla. Right now, I have the cherry vanilla in my hand and it is delicious. But you can't go wrong with the classic cola, original cola as well. It has the great Pepsi taste, but now with even more to love. No artificial sweeteners, only 5 grams of sugar and 30 calories and 3 grams of prebiotic fiber. And this is the Pepsi Prebiotic Cola. Don't miss out. It's available today and you could try it anytime. You do not want to miss out on how delicious. This is my favorite, the cherry vanilla. But you can't go wrong with the original as well. So let's take another Sip. Cheers. Everybody get your Pepsi. All right, let's get into the weekly Watch Report, where we talk about the things we watch this week. Weekly Watch report on Monday. Weekly Watch report on Monday. Weekly Watch report on Monday. Weekly Watch report Monday. I would have loved to have hit that in some sort of Harry Styles tune, but I just knew that I couldn't do it. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Ria
I was gonna make an attempt.
Fran
Are you watching yet? Are you watching it? Weekly Watch Reporty. Watching it.
Ria
Maybe a stretch.
Fran
Maybe. Nailed it. All right, starting off with I finished what I like about you. That was just a rewatch, so I'm just getting that out of the way. Season four. I'm gonna miss watching this at night. It was a nice, nostalgic rewatch, and I will get.
Ria
It kind of, like, ends sort of abruptly. It does. From what I recall, like, it seemed like it got canceled, and they definitely could have done more.
Fran
Yeah. Season four had a lot less episodes than the rest of the seasons. It's kind of bullshit.
Ria
Yeah. I remember that from watching it and being like. When it ended, and I was like, that's it.
Fran
Yeah. Something must have happened, obviously. So we'll give that a B plus. It's just a nice nostalgic show to watch. Vladimir on Netflix. Did anybody watch?
Noah
I.
Ria
No, not yet.
Fran
Leo Woodall and Rachel.
Ria
But I read the book.
Fran
Okay.
Ria
It's a funky book.
Fran
A whole lot of nothing happens in this show. Really? Yeah. Besides all the adults just being really horny and not being able to keep it in their pants. Yeah, correct. And it was a fine. We watched it in one sitting on Sunday. Like eight episodes, 30 minutes each. We were just bedrotting and watch the show fully. I'll give it a C. Yeah. Plus.
Ria
Yeah, fine.
Fran
I'll give it a C plus. Because I did watch it in one sitting. It was completely. I would say it was completely fine. Yeah. I.
Johnny Weir
The book. Really?
Fran
Nothing.
Ria
I, like, liked the book, but then I didn't like the book. But then I liked, like, I don't know, the book. I'm gonna go back and look to see what I rated the book.
Fran
It's just like, nothing really happens. Yeah. Besides all of them being, like, horny the entire time.
Ria
Which is why I was surprised they even made it a show. Cause in my mind, I was like, yeah.
Fran
And I don't want to spoil anything if someone were to watch it, but you're kind of just waiting for this one thing to happen, and then it happens at the end, and then. And that's it kind of, you know, that's really. So. It was. Meh. I'll give it a circle. Southern charm. I will give a C minus. This episode. It took a dip this episode for me. I don't know. I kind of was just, like, over it.
Ria
Because of what?
Fran
I don't know. Just like, I got tired of. I got tired of the storyline.
Ria
Well, it's over now.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
The finale is this week.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
So that's super fair. I mean, it's just like, I'll give
Fran
her a C. I won't get a C minus.
Ria
I get where they. They were all at. They kind of had to wrap up the. This Mexico trip, that sweat house did.
Fran
I don't.
Ria
I looked like they were really sweaty. I just don't like to be that close. Like, I'm fine experiencing something like that. Like, I get the idea of it really sweat.
Fran
Sure.
Ria
But when you're that close to people and everyone's sweating.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
I don't know how I feel. I don't know how I feel about that. Yeah. But Craig had some pretty unreal lines in.
Fran
Oh, my God.
Ria
That's what I gotta say. I said it to you guys. I said, oh, my God. When he was eating lunch with Whitney, and he said, I mean, I'm perfectly imperfect.
Fran
Oh, God.
Ria
And, you know, anytime I hear I'm perfectly imperfect, it just goes to the camp rock song. Like, the camp rock song immediately starts playing in my head. Perfectly imperfect. But I wouldn't. And I'm surprised Craig didn't break out into that song.
Fran
I think it's because all. All of them kind of annoy me.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
So I'm like, all right, we could wrap this one up.
Ria
Yeah. It's just. And I'm curious to see how it goes at the reunion, to be honest, because I feel like Charlie was really telling Craig, like, one thing and maybe talking. Craig had a different idea when they weren't filming or whatever. And then when the cameras are on, because in all the interviews, Charlie is. Doesn't really seem that into it. But Craig seems so worried about potentially ruining this potential relationship that there had to have been more to it. But after his blow up, she was like this.
Fran
I don't.
Ria
I don't see anything romantic. So we'll see it all play out on the reunion.
Fran
Yeah, they. They did reveal their. Their cast photo for the reunion, so I'm sure they'll be interesting summer house. I have to say, I'm really enjoying the newbies. I think Bailey is really funny and cute and brings, like, fresh air to the show and her.
Ria
Certainly her mind.
Fran
She does. And like, she's cracking me up with the flirting. Yeah.
Ria
And all the flirting thing was funny. The preview of her bringing up Ben wanting to fudge Amanda at the dinner table, though, that was bold.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah.
Fran
It is bold. But like, we need someone to come in. Yeah. And do that and shake things up. Yeah. And so I appreciate that. I'm enjoying the season. I'm interested now where things are going to go with west and Sierra because we see a little preview to, like, west missing Ciara. We get the Jesse and Ciara stuff unfolding.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
Ciara kind of broke my heart this episode.
Ria
Same, same.
Fran
Just like her talking about her feelings and her saying, like, I just feel like everyone wants to, like, experience me. It broke my heart listening to her say that and how she feels that people view her because she is absolutely stunning. But there is so much more to her as well. Totally. So I thought this was a good episode. I'll give it a B. I'm always enjoying Summer House.
Ria
That's gotta be so frustrating for her. And it really does break my heart as well because is just so gorgeous and so cool and all the things and guys are probably really weird to her and make her feel a certain way and, you know, it's like being objectified in a way that. Where he's like, oh, my, My. My friend that. I thought we were really close. He's saying he wants to make out with me as a joke. It's like, oh, why? So you can just say that you got to make out. Like, make out with me because you, you know, talk about. Everyone says I'm talking about being. She's being so hot and all these things.
Fran
And
Ria
yeah, Jesse didn't really, like. I feel like he didn't even know what to say. You know, he was like, yeah, sorry. You know, like, he just.
Fran
He handled that poorly.
Ria
Didn't quite know how to explain himself. He handled the whole thing kind of poorly in a way. It's like. Like Sierra said, it's like, why even ask Wes how you feel about it without talking to me? Like, you.
Fran
Right.
Ria
It's.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah.
Fran
You don't even know she was interested. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll give Summerhouse a B. Survivor third episodes this week. I've watched the first two episodes. I will give Survivor a B plus right now. Super into this season. The second episode hooked me even more than the first. I won't spoil anything for anybody who has not. Is not watching yet or has not caught up because there's time to Catch up, people, because we're only two episodes in, but this is gonna be a good one. There was a great ending to this episode. A little sneaking around, a little planting of fake idols, fake clues, all that good stuff. And I am rooting for Christian, but he's such a big personality that I could see him being a huge threat that people will be after. And I'm rooting for Sari, as always, and I like her alliance with Ozzy. So we'll see. We'll see what happens. But this season is gonna be great. Season 50, ladies and gentlemen, buckle up. House of Villains is back on. Peacock. The thing that House of villains does. Joe McHale's a host. Is that they, like, he almost leans into it too much of it being like, a. Making fun of itself. Like, they make fun of the show, but it's, like, constant.
Ria
Yeah.
Fran
And I'm like, all right, so are we supposed to be taking this show seriously? And obviously it's a reality. You don't take it seriously, but you know what I mean, right? Watch the first episode. I will continue watching. I'll give it a B. I am intrigued there. It's an interesting cast, and it caught my attention as something I'll just throw on to catch up with Ted. Season two is out F. Did you watch season one? Yeah. Funny. Oh, yeah, very funny. Very enjoyable. I've only watched the first two episodes, actually, so still gotta catch up. But it's funny. I'll give it a B. Enjoyable quick episodes. It's a cheat code having the bear make facial expressions or do dirty things because you're like, oh, my God, how is this bear doing that? And it just makes you laugh. Love is blind. We watched. I will give those episodes a B. Or the last episode. I mean, you know, once it gets to the end, you're like, all right, tell me if you got married or not. I think the reunion's gonna be really good. I've seen some spoilers about what has happened, what has transpired. I haven't seen any people messaged me after talking about it. Yeah. And then I was like, oh, shit, wait.
Ria
I saw it too. But they were like, do you want to know? I'm like, no, I don't want to know.
Fran
I didn't. I didn't say yes. It's just, here's what happened. But I'm still looking forward to watching. That'll be interesting. And then watch 56 Days on Prime. That's with Dove, Cameron, and Avan Jogia. I don't know if I'm Pronouncing that right. But he was from Victorious Dove Cameron, we know her from Disney Channel days as well. This show is good. This. This show I am interested in. I'm only three episodes in. I will give it a B for now because I am pretty intrigued at what these two are hiding. Cause there's some secret that's going on. Clearly both of them are hiding something. Yeah. And I've heard that there's a lot of twists and turns and people have said how good and crazy it gets. So I'm only on third episode here.
Ria
I watched the first episode and didn't love it. Like, I didn't go back to it.
Fran
Oh, I don't know.
Ria
I just like. Yeah, I. Maybe I'll give it a try. We got a couple long flights coming up.
Fran
Yeah, I'll let you know. But I was just in the TV watching zone yesterday, and I saw a
Ria
lot of people, like, girls were messaging me about this show too, saying, like, I would love it. And I watched the first episode, like, last week, like, when they. When it came out, I'd seen it, and I, like, didn't really love the first one. So I was like, I don't know if I'm gonna even keep watch. Like, it just kind of seems sort of ridiculous.
Fran
Oh, okay. Well, I'm gonna continue watching it because I'm three episodes in. Yeah. And at this point, now think it's. No.
Ria
Now you gotta know.
Fran
Now I gotta know what happens. I gotta know what these two are hiding and the whole thing. And that is everything. I wrote down that I watched.
Ria
Southern Charm. I'll give a B minus. Summer House. I'll give a B plus. Thought it was a good episode. Anything else that you had said that I had also watched?
Noah
No.
Ria
Chicago crossover event.
Fran
Oh, shit. It happened.
Ria
It happened. It was Wednesday night, and I was locked in for those three hours. Haley was back, Jay was back. You're bringing back some familiar faces that we miss seeing. Good crossover, good plot. Very scary. Like, legit. Pretty scary because it was. The premise was like a plane was flying into Chicago Airport, and they lost communication with the plane, but it seemed like it was operating still properly and was, like, coming in for the landing and everything. And the plane lands, and they go on to the plane and everybody's dead. And there was, like, a. Some sort of toxin that was released.
Fran
Oh, my God.
Ria
In the air on the plane. And they're like. And they're, like, bleeding from the eyes.
Fran
Oh, my God.
Ria
Like, it was like, ah. Like, it was kind of freaky and of course. Fire, PD Med. They're all putting together how, why this happened, who did it, what's happening, what's. What's the cause? And I just love seeing Hayley and Jay back. That made me so happy. It was really. I mean, as an A. I was locked in. Well done. Well, well done, Dick. You did it, Mr. Wolf. Good one. Tournament of Champions. Food Network is back.
Fran
It's back.
Ria
It's back. Yes. Which I absolutely love. It's just the best Food Network show to put on and enjoy. Joe and I love it. It's so good. The first two episodes are out, which, honestly, like, b. It's so good.
Tara Lipinski
I love it.
Ria
Good twist. This year, all the one seeds are. All the one seeds are people that have never competed on tournament champions before, but they're like culinary legends.
Noah
Mmm, I like that.
Ria
So they're. They're big names, and it's a surprise. They keep their identity hidden until right before the. Right before the match. And a lot of them have been judges, but they've never actually competed on the show, which really, really interesting to watch. And I. You know, it's just one of those fun ones that you throw on that you really enjoy. Paradise caught up, man. I. I love this show. I think it's fantastic. I thought each episode was, like, different and interesting, and, you know, you. Oh, it always. It'll tie all together at some point, but you're getting sort of all these individual stories. I forgot how up Jane was. I kind of forgot about that. And then she pulled that mood with the President. I was like, what the fuck is this girl's deal? Like, what is she? What is her end game? I do not know.
Noah
It's crazy how the. Like, I kind of forgot about the finale.
Ria
I forgot about the finale a little bit. I had to go rewatch.
Noah
What was the thing that she wanted that was absurd. Like, we.
Ria
Yeah, the Wii. Like, yeah. And I was like, is she good? And then that happened. And then the other Secret Service member, I'm like, what is her end game here? I don't. Because at first it seemed like, oh, she was on one side. And then it was like, oh, she did that. But to potentially protect Xavier. But now this isn't protecting Xavier at all. I don't know. I'm like, I don't get what side she's on. I guess we'll find out.
Noah
I do. Like, Shailene Woodley's edition.
Ria
She was really, really good. Now, episode four, which is the most recent one.
Fran
Holy.
Ria
Like, I needed a trigger warning for the amount I was sobbing like a baby. It just was brutally sad. Just like next. I mean it was, it was a beautiful episode and it was so interesting and well done. And honestly, like even brings up a bigger conversation of. Of modern medicine and science and childbirth and all these things that we have now and that these they had in the bubble but didn't have outside the bubble. And it was a heart wrenching episode. I saw maybe one person post about how sad it was and I was like, oh, okay, like what? You know, how sad could it be? Just from the way that the show's been knocked me off. I couldn't believe. I was like, thank God I was. I think I watched on Friday night when I was just. I was home and I was like, thank God no one else is. I don't have any plans. It ruined my whole night. But I'm really, it's. I'm very intrigued to see how this all plays out now. And there's always no, it's like always one thing after the next. You know, he. Xavier gets to the next point and it's like, oh, here's another. Like he's another obstacle. Like, oh, he finally gets to Atlanta and the guy's like, she's out here. Like, God damn it. Like, where is she?
Noah
Also when he was like he kind of at first made it seem like she had like moved on from him and they like were together. I was like, no way.
Ria
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Paradise also has really good music a la love Story. Like we're just the paradise jingle making
Noah
fun of this so much. Oh, I love know jingle but like
Ria
that they'll not a jingle but it's the, you know.
Noah
No, but that they'll have like famous songs but sung by like random people.
Ria
Oh yes. Well, that I'm not even talking about that. I'm talking about like the they're like theme song. You know, it's like that is different and paradise has its own as well. That's honestly, you know, it's not too far off from the love story one to be honest. But it's. It's good. And God, it just killed me. But paradise is like an A minus really. I really, really like Paradise. I think it is.
Noah
I actually watched.
Ria
I really wish it was Binge Binge
Noah
from last season again yesterday. Yeah, I was like, I got to watch that again.
Ria
So fair. I'm so intrigued to see how Thomas Doherty's character gets all. Because I'm also like, is Xavier going to have psychic powers? It seems like that. It seems that way it seems like he's starting to be able to look into the future.
Noah
Yeah.
Ria
Like, what's. I don't know what's happening, but they're. Jeff and I were talking about it, too, because he was like, the show is going to go supernatural, like, for sure. I was like, yeah, I could definitely see. I could definitely see that happening. Speaking of love story, the wedding episode was out this. This week as well.
Fran
Watch that as well.
Johnny Weir
Yeah.
Fran
Yeah.
Noah
Can we just love each other?
Ria
Yeah. You know, I. This one was better than the last.
Fran
Better. There was less of.
Ria
Yeah. Less dialogue for him. Like, less speaking from him. Calvin Klein was the star of this episode, too.
Johnny Weir
Oh, yeah.
Ria
Like, really like that. And I don't. The discourse around this episode, around this show has gotten to be so crazy because you have. You have Daryl Hannah coming out and saying, you know, they portray me in this way, and it's not me, and none of this stuff is true. And it's. I saw a girl on TikTok talking about this. It's like reading comprehension, watching comprehension. That in front of us, we are watching a show that says at the beginning, much of this is fictionalized. And people watch a show and they still see the character, and they believe every single second and every word said, and they think that every single thing that Daryl Hannah did in this show she did in real life.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And so she had to come out and be like, I didn't do that. Like, I didn't show up to the wake or do this. Like, it's just things that I didn't do. And it's all for a show.
Tara Lipinski
And
Ria
people watch it and think that it's real. Every detail is real. And, yeah, there's, like, certain things, you know, you watch the wedding. Yes. She was allegedly hours late because there was an issue with the dress, which is, you know, you watch it happen. But the little details on the conversation and, like, the mom's rehearsal dinner speech, that's We. That's made up. Like, you know, so it's. You kind of. You have to watch it with that mindset, and people really don't, which is so crazy. And then they attack the real person. So I thought. I felt bad that she had to, like, put out a statement to be like, I didn't do all these. All these things. But this episode, of course, you have these really intense moments of, like, Dana Gordon calling JFK out at the rehearsal dinner of, like, you better fucking give. Like, watch her and all these things. You're like, I don't know. You know, they made it as intense as possible for the show.
Fran
Right.
Ria
Because we don't have a play by play of what happened at the very first thing.
Noah
You keep calling her Dana Gordon.
Ria
I can't think of her anything about Danny Gordon. I'm so sorry.
Noah
She's been on Chicks in the Office.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
Because she did. Unreal.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
But she is so Dana Gordon.
Ria
But it's just like she's Dana Gordon
Fran
with a wig on.
Ria
Like, I can't. It's. It's. It's crazy. But I mean, the wedding itself. Stunning.
Fran
Yeah. So, so beautiful.
Ria
It's gorgeous.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Absolutely gorgeous. Found myself googling that island
Fran
and, you
Ria
know, having to do it all by candlelight and all that. It's just. It was gorgeous. And she. She did look stunning and that was that. But. Oh, and maybe one too many, like, ocean plane foreshadowing moments in this episode as well. Like when they were sitting on the beach and they were like, isn't it so crazy? Like, this ocean is the same ocean as in Hyannis and it's so vast and so huge. I'm like, yeah, they were really playing a lot of really, really planting the seed for what's to come and even like her mom with, you know, protect her and all these things. And you're like, oh, right. Certainly leading towards what happened. I think not. Is next week the next last one?
Fran
I think there's two more.
Ria
Was this episode seven or eight?
Noah
That was. That was six. Oh, the next one's seven.
Ria
Okay, so there's a bunch more. I think there's nine total. Can you look at how many total? There are nine from what I looked last.
Noah
Nine.
Ria
Nine. Yes. And Love is Blind. I'll give a B as well. The final wedding episode.
Fran
That's it.
Ria
I mean, watch Harry Styles. But I feel like we, you know, you talked about that kind of a special.
Fran
It's an A plus. Yeah.
Noah
Yeah. And then when I was watching the Harry Styles thing, I still was like, it was very well done, obviously, but I still was like, it doesn't like we. We've been to a one night only. It doesn't. Like you'll never be able to capture.
Ria
No. You really can't.
Fran
Healing in real life. Yeah.
Noah
Because it's just. You don't feel like you're there.
Fran
No.
Ria
You just. It's.
Fran
It.
Ria
It really is like. It really is once in a lifetime.
Noah
Like when he's like, doing stuff to the crowd like this, I'm like, imagine like being in the crowd and like. Yeah. Roar. Like.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah.
Noah
Hear that?

Noah
okay, I will go through this quickly. I watched Industry Finale, Season four Finale. I didn't even mention that I watched. I stopped putting it in my weekly watchboard. Cause I'm like, I just feel like I don't even know what's going on, but I'm not giving it my all. Although I will just put it here to say that, like, Kit Harington had a great performance. He's an incredible actor. And I was happy with what his character did in this final episode. And I thought they wrapped it up very well. Although it's not over, I don't think. Or is it over? I don't even know if they're coming back.
Ria
Another season, you mean?
Noah
Yeah, but I thought it was just a really good finale. Either way, I'll give it a B. And I started that show. I watched the first two episodes that are out DTF St. Louis.
Fran
Yeah, I wanna watch that.
Noah
Jason Bateman. It was. It's good. It's weird, but it's good. And it's like a murder mystery type thing. And Jason Bateman, like, he's a good actor, but I do. It's just funny. I like. He's kind of like the same character and everything he does to me, the way that.
Fran
Yeah. His cadence.
Noah
Yeah. But I like it so far. I'll give it a B plus. Like, I'm pretty locked in paradise. I'll give a B plus. Yeah. Like, I just. I'm excited to get back to the bubble.
Ria
I keep saying, did that episode bring a tear to your eye at all or.
Noah
No.
Ria
Oh, man. Oh, God, it was brutal.
Noah
Yeah. No, it didn't.
Ria
But you get it. I mean, objective.
Noah
I mean, I can see why it would.
Ria
Yes.
Noah
I feel like Shane, like, I don't know if this is a spoiler. I guess it is. But, like, it's like, she was in the show so for such a little time that I wasn't, like, too attached to her being like, oh, now she's gone.
Ria
Like, no, no. It was just the way it had.
Noah
It's the way it happened now.
Fran
It wasn't.
Ria
I wasn't like, I was so attacked. I just thought. I thought she was just gonna. And I just had no idea. Like, I thought she was gonna be in it way more.
Noah
Yeah. I'm just like, damn. Now Xavier, like, he's got even more responsibility. Yeah.
Ria
The responsibilities are piled.
Noah
Now he's got another kid.
Ria
I know.
Fran
And he.
Ria
And whenever they cut back to, like, those, like, sweet moments with James Marsden, I'm like, damn. You know, he did make a good present.
Noah
I was like, that's what I. And then when I watch episode seven again, I'm like, damn, I need more James Morrison.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And it's just, you know, he got got. He got. Got early.
Fran
He got.
Ria
Got early.
Noah
Yeah. So that's a b. The beauty.
Ria
I'm not caught up.
Noah
You haven't caught up. Okay. Well, it's. That was.
Ria
I watched episode eight, so the last
Noah
two episodes came out, which were the finale. Oh, okay. Which. When I watched it, I didn't know it was. I thought there was another one.
Ria
The last one I watched was when he. His kids. His. They changed his kids.
Noah
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Ria
He's like. His weird kids.
Noah
That's like, a couple episodes really, like, it's good. It's definitely, like. So it's over.
Ria
You watched the whole thing?
Noah
Yeah, it's over. Although I don't know if they're renewed, but they really, like. It's a cliffhanger that they leave you, like, a. Like, giant cliffhanger. There was one thing in this last episode that was so disgusting and, like, there's been some. But this was like. This one was one of those ones where, like, I'm, like, in bed thinking about it.
Fran
Yeah.
Noah
Like, trying to get it out of my.
Fran
Trying to erase it.
Noah
And yes. It makes.
Ria
Even the opening intro. I don't like.
Noah
Oh, I skip it.
Ria
There's no. But there's no skip Button.
Noah
There is for me.
Ria
Oh, there is. For some reason, there isn't for me. And I have to, like, manually fast forward, which. Cry me a river. I have to manually fast forward, but with the.
Fran
You're already seeing. I'm like.
Ria
I'm like.
Noah
Like, you're stuck watching it so bad. Like, I don't think it's a spoiler, but, like, this kid, like, gets. Like, all the kids are starting to take it.
Ria
Ashton Kutcher says he's game to do a second season, but it is not officially renewed.
Noah
Ryan Murphy might be too busy with these love stories.
Fran
Yeah.
Noah
Clearly bringing in more views.
Fran
Yeah.
Noah
But I'll give it a B minus. Like, I think I liked it at the beginning more. And now it's kind of taken, like, just a wild, like. But you should have seen it coming. It's so gross. But, yeah, B minus. I started the first few episodes of that young Sherlock show. Heard is good. Huge Guy Ritchie fan. So, like, I was excited about that. Hero finds Tiffin. He's good. And even, like, Colin Firth is in it, which I didn't know. So a lot of people, you know,
Ria
let me tell you, you can always throw Colin Firth in. Some sort of, like, British production. Especially maybe Sherlock Holmes. Yeah, he's gonna be in that. But no, that's a big show for hero.
Noah
Yeah, it is. Yeah.
Fran
Happy for him.
Noah
Yeah, he's good. And it's just classic Guy Ritchie, like, style.
Ria
Joe sent me two video clips of a GQ article that. A GQ interview that Hiro did where one, he's talking about his love for West Ham, which, you know, Joe went to one West Ham game and he's. That's his Premier League team. And then the next one was like that. He loves playing chess. And Joe is like, I fucking love this guy.
Noah
It is cool, though, to see, like, the young, you know, what is that on? It's on Prime. I feel like I've never seen or heard. I don't know if they've done, like, a Sherlock when he was younger.
Fran
I don't think so as a kid.
Noah
But it's cool to see, like, the origin. Obviously. They're just, like, making it up.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
Yeah.
Noah
And the pit.
Fran
Oh, fuck.
Ria
I watched the Pit.
Noah
Yeah.
Ria
I always forget the pit.
Noah
The pit is in a territory now for me. Like, it's just.
Ria
It is. It's so good. How do I. And every week I'm like, I watched it too.
Fran
A.
Noah
Like, for some reason, I forgot how many episodes there were last season. So I was like, oh, shit. It's like this was like nine or something. I'm like, it's gonna be like one or two more. There's 15, so we got. We got a lot more to go.
Ria
Oh, there is.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
They're very giving.
Noah
It makes sense. Cause it's like a shift.
Ria
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Noah
But really good. I don't think, like, it's a spoiler either to say that Robbie is like kind of hinting that he's gonna kill himself now. Like, that. That like, he's basically like. That's kind of what he's hinting at. Like, when he goes on sabbatical, he's not coming back.
Fran
Oh, well.
Ria
I feel like it's not even necessarily what he's saying. I felt like it was when the other hot doctor. What's his name?
Noah
His name.
Ria
You know who I'm talking about. Not land, not the other one.
Noah
Military.
Ria
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a sexy man. When he.
Noah
You see there were since courtside together at the Lakers. Yeah.
Ria
When he was like, you know, if you like, if you need me, call me.
Noah
Yeah. He's like, it's a lot of like, self acting time. Yeah, much for you.
Ria
Like, if it's too much, I. Call me. That's when I kind of was like.
Noah
But then when he sat the younger doctor down too, and it was like, you want to live my house and if I don't come back, it's yours.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah.
Noah
Like, he's just kind of like, right.
Ria
Yep, yep.
Noah
But very good show.
Ria
It's so good.
Noah
Yeah. That's an A. Jfk. I like that. I keep calling it jfk. It's a C minus for me, but I will continue to watch it every time.
Fran
Oh, did we grade it? No, I'll give it a B.
Ria
This episode was a B minus for me.
Noah
Yeah. I just can't get past it. And then like, I don't know. It's hard to not let everyone, like, who's actually like, related to or being portrayed or family members.
Ria
Yeah.
Noah
Terrible things to be like, full. It is, but it is just a fiction. Yeah, it's just whatever.
Ria
You just have to not watch it and be like, wow, I can't believe Carolyn's mom said that to him. It's like, well, we don't know.
Noah
I just can't see. I just cannot see JFK Jr being like this whiny. Like, I. I just don't buy it.
Ria
That's fine. You don't have to buy it.
Noah
He seems like a whole.
Ria
It's a fictionalized version of him.
Noah
Like, Yeah, I don't know. So, yeah, it's a C minus. I watched the four part dinosaurs.
Fran
Oh, I want to watch this.
Ria
Okay. I had a. I made a note about this, like, when I saw the trailer weeks ago, being like, oh, my God, I want to watch this. But I actually think I'll sob my eyes out because it's like, spoiler. We know what happens. Like, as you watch a dinosaur show, they make you fall in love with all these.
Fran
Let me tell you, all these dinosaurs.
Noah
Seeing the T. Rex gasper. Gasp for air. Well after the meteor hit.
Ria
No, see, I can't watch. I can't watch that. Sorry.
Noah
I actually, it's really cool.
Ria
I will sob my eyes out.
Noah
Part of me is like. I mean, not part of me. Like, all of me is like, how did they. Like, how much of this is just like. I mean, obviously they're creating storylines and it's like Morgan Freeman, like, narrating. So you need to like.
Fran
Yeah, but I'm like, create these fictional
Ria
storylines just for them to all be blown up and die.
Noah
But it is like the. Honestly, the craziest part watching is like, because they have like, it starts like 250 million years ago, and then it'll like, fast forward to be like, now we're now. Like, it's crazy when you think about. I don't even know if I knew, like, how long the dinosaurs fucking ruled the world. Yeah, it was.
Fran
Imagine they were still here.
Noah
150 to 200 million years. They were. I looked up. How long do you think humans have been on the first human. How long do you think we've been around? And the dinosaurs were blown up 66 million years ago. Just
Ria
the first man was. What? I've seen him. He's in Italy.
Noah
What, caveman?
Ria
Yeah, like, the first remnants of. The man is in Bolzano.
Fran
Yes, yes, I know.
Noah
You're talking about. They have them propped up.
Ria
Yeah, you could see, but I don't know. I mean, I could throw out a really stupid number. 10,000 BC.
Noah
Well, let's say how many years ago. That's easier because I don't know how like the.
Fran
Oh, I know that. I know you're.
Ria
That that makes it way harder.
Fran
That's math.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
No, you're trying to make me.
Noah
300,000 years ago is what they say. So that's like nothing compared to way
Ria
more than I see.
Noah
Yeah, but like, that. That's like still like 66 million years before, like, the dinosaurs were gone. It's hard to process that, but it is cool. I mean, it's very cool. I mean, it's like. I don't know, the animation stuff.
Ria
Otzi is in Bolzano. He's Otzi the iceman. He's a 5,300-year-old natural mummy discovered in the Alps in 1991, dating back to around 3300 BCE. He's remarkably preserved. But even that wouldn't have been, obviously, the oldest.
Noah
I don't know how they do it. And obviously, they take a lot of liberties, I'm sure.
Ria
You know, it just really makes me think about the planet, like, way too much. And I just read Project Hail Mary, and that's also about, like, Earth. If Earth was to, like, blow up.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
And, you know, you just kind of get to the point where you're like, it's probably bound to happen.
Noah
It's just crazy that, like, the. The settings that they're into, like, because it's, like, snowing a lot, and you're like, I didn't really think about the dinosaurs, like, walking around in the snow.
Fran
Right.
Noah
And then they, like, finally get to this point where, like, the dinosaurs are ruling the world, everything's going well, and then it's just the meteor gone crazy.
Ria
Yeah.
Noah
But very cool. And so, like. And obviously Morgan Freeman just. That's.
Fran
Oh, yeah. That voice the entire time.
Ria
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I think I just cry. Like, they just. Like, they all just die.
Noah
You know what? You know what's also crazy? I was thinking about is that, like, alligators and, like, birds and, like, they've been around this whole time, like, they were around with the dinosaurs. It's crazy.
Fran
That is wild.
Noah
I'll give that a B plus. Like, just kind of crazy.
Ria
I gotta get my. I know my dad will be all over that.
Fran
Yeah, Love that.
Noah
Yeah. I watched the movie Dead Man's Wire. It's a new movie. It's with what's His Face from Strange. Well, first of all, it's Bill Skarsgrd, one of the Skarsgrd sons.
Ria
And then Bill's the one that does it.
Noah
It's Dante Montgomery, the guy from Stranger Things. But very good movie. True Story. I'd highly recommend it. Just like, Crazy Story, I'll get a B plus. Although, you know, it's on the edge of A. And then I watched Rooster, the Steve Carell Show.
Fran
I want to watch that, too.
Noah
It's the same guy who created Ted Lasso and Shrinking, so I kind of knew what I was getting into.
Ria
Is it Bill Lawrence?
Noah
If that's. Yeah, that's A guy I don't know. I'm not loving it so far. I'll give it C, like, I think you probably.
Ria
By the way, speaking of shrinking, I give this last week's episode a B plus. I watched that, too. Yeah, throw that in.
Noah
But it's very much in that realm. And Steve Carell is just like playing Steve Carell, but, yeah. So that's a C. And that's all I got.
Fran
I want to watch that one, too. All right. That is everything we watch. There's a lot that I want to catch up on. So, yeah, we got some more travel this week, so we'll. We'll be watching stuff on the plate and have more for next Monday. But that is everything we watched. Picture this. Learn more at Microsoft.com M365 copilot All right, everyone, we are joined by two very special guests. They are Olympians. They are figure skating analysis. They are, you know, faithfuls that we know and love, and they are best friends. Everybody, welcome Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir. Thank you so much for joining us.
Johnny Weir
It's absolutely our pleasure. Thanks for having us.
Ria
Oh, we're. We're so excited for so many reasons, right? Because we love Traders. At the same time, we're just coming off an Olympics, a Winter Olympics, and we get so into it. It's the. The figure skating, especially for the Winter Olympics. It's just, I, like, you end up obsessing over it every. Every time it comes back around. So it's so fun seeing you guys be a part of it. But that's why we were joking is like when you guys were coming on Traders and you're like, yeah, you know, we're figure skaters. We know each other, and everyone's like, oh, sure. I'm like, oh, my God. Nobody knows. And no one really.
Tara Lipinski
We got really lucky.
Ria
Put it together until you guys had your big reveal.
Tara Lipinski
Until our big reveal.
Fran
We can't take it anymore. We're best friends. No.
Johnny Weir
There's one person who has no excuse, and that's Eric Nam. Yeah. So we filmed with him for the Olympics in 2018. He was teaching us all about K Pop, so he should have alerted people if he needed to. It's like I'd met them before.
Ria
They were very much working together.
Fran
He thought he knew your handwriting, but he did it.
Tara Lipinski
I think what was great about it is they knew that we knew each other. We were both figure skaters. But I think our stories going in, we just really nailed it. We did it kind of seamlessly where we were just like, oh, we live on different coasts. Like, I won the Olympics when I was 15, he just started skating when he was 12. We just like, we never really knew each other.
Ria
We sold it in a way that was like, you guys are both in the business, but didn't really.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah, we would go because I think
Ria
it's kind of like the housewives being like, yeah, she's also another housewife, but I've never really met her.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah. You know, they would ask and we'd be like, yeah, sometimes we work together.
Johnny Weir
It was really like, that was our one move. It's our one strategy preparing for the show. Because we got the offer on the same call, we couldn't come up with a proper, like, theory or strategy. What are we gonna do? But the only thing we could control was our relationship with one another. And we thought it would be best, definitely, if we kept it to ourselves. Keep a little hush hush for the people that wouldn't know.
Fran
Right.
Tara Lipinski
And we really stayed apart for, I mean, a good chunk of the show.
Johnny Weir
Very uncomfortable.
Tara Lipinski
Very uncomfortable. But when he first came to, like, see me outside at the castle, I was, like, mad at you because.
Johnny Weir
Yeah, because I went for a hug. Because I hug everyone. I'm a hugger.
Tara Lipinski
And I was like, oh, no, this is going against our plan. I was like, oh, hi.
Johnny Weir
Hi.
Fran
You're like, sir, who are you Too suspicious now. I think everybody wants to know what would have happened if one of you were a traitor and one was not. Because that's what we were dying to see happen.
Tara Lipinski
It's so easy. We would have protected each other if one of us was up in the turret. That's probably why they didn't do it. Because either one of us, we would have protected one another. Till the very end. So one of us could win. Either a faithful or a traitor.
Johnny Weir
It's all about playing the game, and they want to put together the best game show. So I think they definitely would have been at a disadvantage if one of us had been a traitor, because we pretty much, even as two faithfuls, were playing our own game.
Ria
Yeah.
Johnny Weir
And it would have been a mess for them if one of the traitors. If one of us was a traitor and was protecting the other the whole time.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah. And we would have. I would have known.
Johnny Weir
Yeah, we would have known immediately.
Fran
Yeah. I feel like even if you didn't tell each other outright, you just would have been able to tell 100%. Yeah. Oh, that would have been so interesting. But instead, you guys were both faithfuls until the end, and once you guys reveals that you were best friends, everyone was on to you. Oh, my God. What if they're trying to throw us off the scent? And, you know, you guys were getting there at the end. You know, we really did.
Johnny Weir
We said we got there.
Fran
You got there at the end. You were right there. You said, sniff them out, and then boom. Maura kept her alliance.
Tara Lipinski
We got close, though. I mean, I feel like we won. Cause we stayed together till the very end, and that's really what we wanted.
Johnny Weir
And I think as far as, like, a duo goes, we lasted longer than any, like, a very extreme duo. Like, we are totally. We lasted longer than any other duo had, and we're really proud of that. And I think going into it, our dream was to stand at the final flame, hold hands, raise them like in the Hunger Games, and just be super proud. But for the way we played and how kind of out of fish out of water we were, I'm so proud with how we did, because we made it as far as we possibly could have, but we were, like, two episodes late to figure out which way is right.
Ria
Yeah, that is so true. And I think, you know, during that. That roundtable with Natalie where she was like, I need you to speak up for me and be on my side, and it seemed like you just couldn't quite maybe get or you didn't want to throw Rob's name.
Johnny Weir
Well, there were definitely two main things.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah, I mean, I think. I mean, it's an hour show, right. So you only see so much. And I think it was great TV for, you know, the drama of it all. But there's so much that's happening, you know, during the day. So for me, what wasn't shown is I thought it was Robin Mora and I thought it was like a Bonnie and Clyde thing. And I was telling Natalie this, and I'm like, it's the two of them. Obviously, I was wrong on Maura, but I was very clear, and Johnny was very clear that we have to have the numbers. And I was saying we shouldn't go for Rob. I think there was a few lines of me saying that we shouldn't go for Rob tonight. What I was wanting to do is go for Maura that night. But the thing is, I went to Natalie before the roundtable. Again, you can't show all of this. But we had realized we didn't have the numbers. Natalie and I went to Maura, and Maura was like, no. And then went to Rob and Eric. And then Johnny was talking to Eric, and. And he's like, oh, boy, Tara, there is. You know, there's that alliance of Mark, Eric, Mora, Rob going for Natalie with the double dagger. So then I went to Mark, and I was like, mark, will you commit? And he's like, no, I can't commit. Let's just, you know, like, you know.
Ria
Cause it's hard.
Tara Lipinski
How do you know? And who knows? Maybe at the table, he would have been like, okay, well, now I'll go down the Rob Avenue. But, you know, Rob had a lot of people fooled, so it was hard for people to commit. But I went to Natalie before, and I was like, we can't do this. It's three against five. And I'm like, we'll just see how it goes at the table. But then it's hard. The heat came on Natalie very quickly from that side, and if you stand
Johnny Weir
out, you get stuck. So I think in addition to the gameplay of Natalie and Tara trying to figure it out, I was in the same car, and I was listening to the whole conversation. But as the final gamer, I never truly trusted Natalie. And also, she curses a lot. And for me, someone who curses a lot is hiding something or trying to cover something up or be bigger or something. Like, I don't trust a person that curses a lot. So even though we did find out she was a faithful, obviously even at that final roundtable, I didn't feel horrible putting her name down until after the fact. And I knew she was a faithful.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah, well, yeah, I think she just. The way that it unfolded is she got a lot of heat, and then it was smart gameplay on her to be like, tara, you told me about Rob today. So I actually was surprised. Cause I was like, oh, I went
Fran
to you before the roundtable.
Tara Lipinski
Like, I'm not Gonna vote for you. Let's figure out if it's Eric or Maura or if it swings to Rob. So I think it was just an unfortunate turn of events for the faithfuls that that happened. And the double dagger was that night. And then I felt so bad because, you know, she was, you know, upset and emotional, and you make these relationships. But at that point, I knew she was voting for Johnny, and I. And I could have jumped in and been trying to save her, but then that would have ruined Johnny and I's gameplay at that point, and we would have gone home.
Johnny Weir
As you can probably tell, we are completely unaffected by our experience there. We can barely even talk about it. We can barely remember it. It is so. The show is so real.
Fran
I mean, speaking of building relationships, you know, you're in there for what it is, two weeks or however long you get your phones taken away. You're, you know, put up somewhere, and you're just focused on this game 24 7. So you can see how much it really affects you. Johnny, you with Candace, you know, you can tell how disoriented you were after finding out she was a traitor because you were like, wow, I really did put my trust in her, but now I'm figuring out that she was protecting me.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
Did everything sort of change for you in that moment during the game?
Johnny Weir
I think the fact that I'd put so much faith and Tara and I both had put so much faith in someone that was a traitor is very on brand for us. I mean, we trust before we distrust, and I think that is just who we are at our core deep down inside. And as you mentioned, the game becomes very real. And sitting at home, I mean, I binge watched all the seasons to get ready, and I'm a huge fan now. And when I originally watched, I was like, how can they be crying? They just met two days ago. But you go so native, and you are so deep in the game. And for people who do wear their hearts on their sleeves very proudly like us, it's a really emotional game. And when Candace revealed that she was a traitor, I was just bamboozled. And then, you know, the next day and that day a little bit too. But the next day is when the castle turned on me, and it was so lonely. And, like, I'm a very singular person aside from when I'm with Tara. I love just being alone. I love closing my door. I love being quiet. And it was the first time that I really didn't relish being alone because nobody would talk to me. They Were all afraid to be seen with me because I was the one that was getting voted out, and they didn't want there to be any connection there. And it was just. It's a horrible feeling. So kind of after Candace and then the episode when everyone was coming for me, I was like, you know what? I'm terrible at this game. I'm just gonna stop playing. I'm gonna wear my outfits.
Ria
Just leave me alone.
Tara Lipinski
I mean, that was the hardest part is the. It is so emotional when you're in the castle because you're so isolated for so long, and then these are Become, like, these people are becoming your friends and your relationships that you're there for weeks. So I think that was the hardest thing for me, to separate, you know, the heart from the mind. And then also, we were, like you said, playing our own game. So even with Candace. We were both besties with Candace. But that day, Johnny's name was being thrown around. And that's. You know, I voted for her, but never thought she was a traitor, but did it because I needed to make sure they weren't going after Johnny. So there was. Or even the Natalie thing, when that sort of was like a surprise at the table, I was like, but I've got to protect this team. And that was really hard for me to separate how to do that to someone, even though it's just a game, right?
Fran
And I think that's what flies under the radar, especially, is the emotions being heightened so much, because as a viewer, right, you're like, oh, it's just a game. It's just a game. But even Rob, he's having to lie to everybody all the time. And you can tell by the end he was kind of tired. That kind of wore on him as well, where he's like, I'm kind of tired of lying to everybody all the time. And then I saw you guys post a video where you were, you know, when you were on the plane. You know, we're still doing symbols to
Johnny Weir
each other because we still, like, we still get weirded out.
Fran
The paranoia.
Johnny Weir
We don't know.
Fran
Especially having cameras following you all the time as well.
Tara Lipinski
That's the craziest thing. You don't see the cameras. The cameras are just so hidden that that is also what just immerses you in this world, and you forget that this is just a game. But, yeah, afterwards at the airport, we changed our flights to fly together because
Johnny Weir
we were like, we just traumatized.
Fran
We're traumatized.
Johnny Weir
But there was. There's, like, I had the thought that the only people that come off of the traders and say, oh, it's just a game are the people that lose early or the ones that win. Everyone in that in between area, you do start ticket really seriously. I mean, call Mark Ballas. He's taken it the most seriously of anyone. Even the aftermath. And we still have like a faithfuls chat that everyone's in on. And it's very sweet that you have the sense of community, but it is a hard show to play, especially for. I mean I'm super emotional. T often is my rock and keeps us going forward, but I would just crumble. And it was a great test and I think that it showed how strong our bond is and how brave we can be in the face of adversity and how much that we can. We do. I think Natalie said it actually like it was like playing with two kids who only wanted to play with each other at the playground.
Ria
I was like, yeah. Did you feel like you almost had to, you know, when you did reveal to everyone that you are as close as you are, did you feel like they maybe didn't fully believe you? Because there was, you know, and we talked to Mark was in the studio
Fran
a couple weeks ago.
Ria
We talked to him about it. Cause Mark was like in the mo. I dance with partners all the time and like we work together and all these things, but I don't know if I have like an undying trust with all these people, but I. And because it kind of felt like you were like, oh, we're best friends. And everyone was like, okay.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah, Well, I think. Well, it definitely changed the vibe. So thank goodness somehow we, we lasted in the beginning because the moment we did that then we started getting the heat of like one of them's a trader, one of them's recruiting. So I do think that we would have been spotted way earlier and been kicked out, but I don't think that in that moment they truly understood that like no matter how you took that
Ria
moment to tell everyone you were that close, we.
Johnny Weir
So that day and the edits, when it goes down to an hour and it's, you know, an 18 hour shoot day and you guys get an hour of it to watch. It was a horrible day. Like I just would sit by myself in rooms. She would come check on me. I would try to avoid everyone. I wasn't into it on the mission. Even the fashion shots that we do before we go down to breakfast, I
Ria
could see on your face.
Johnny Weir
I was just, I was so defeated
Tara Lipinski
and done well because his name was being thrown Around. So when we woke up that morning, I guess Colton had left the night or left that day. And then it was Candace's name that was being thrown around, but also Johnny's, which I was freaking out. And even this wasn't part of the show. But Steven came up to me and he's like, I'm gonna test you. Like, this is gonna, like, I know you know, Johnny, his name's being thrown around. We're going after him tonight. If you, like, say something, we'll know. And I was like, definitely. And then I ran to the kitchen, and we're like, in the refrigerator. And I'm like, johnny, I cannot tell you anything right now. So you just have to follow my lead. And we're gonna vote, like. Cause we had eye movements that we do at the table to, like, go
Johnny Weir
to signify what we were doing.
Tara Lipinski
But I knew that Johnny was feeling that energy in the castle that day, and it was really hard. Cause people were throwing his name around. And when that happens, you know, you walk into a room and everyone goes silent. And it's, like, so silly. It's a game, but it feels awful. So when Johnny and I finally had a chat, I was like. I mean, I don't know what I thought. They're never gonna kick two people off at once. But we were just like Thelma and Louise style. Let's go out, like, blazing and just do it together.
Johnny Weir
And to us, I think it was bigger than it would have been to the other people because it was a secret that we'd been trying to hold onto for the whole game. And at that point in the game, it was already like a week and a half, two weeks that we'd been there and production secret. But anyway, we'd been there for a while, and I was just. I honestly. And I didn't think the game would affect me the way that it did. But I was just so defeated, and I felt so bad. I don't like anyone to ever feel uncomfortable around me or, like, they have to scurry when I walk into a room because they're afraid of association. Like, I've been a young gay kid in high school before. I know what it feels like. And it just, like, immediately took me back to that. So I was just like, I'm done. And then Tara was like, let's just do it. Let's just tell us we're all done together.
Tara Lipinski
Let's just do it all up.
Johnny Weir
Like, let them banish you. They're gonna murder me tonight. Let's go.
Tara Lipinski
I feel like if it went a
Johnny Weir
different way, her jersey came out.
Tara Lipinski
There was, like, a part of me that's like, maybe I just. Like, if you were going, I just stand up. And we're the first to, like, hold hands and be like, bye, guys.
Johnny Weir
We're both leaving.
Fran
We're fables, and we're out. Especially. Especially after the episode with the Jack in the Box game, where they just kept putting your name in and you would not put her name up. But it was just. Every answer was Tara. And honestly, watching it was kind of hard. I was like, oh, my God. Like, they just keep going. And you could see your faces turn. Like, they were perfect.
Tara Lipinski
But it was harder for me, too, because, like, we know each other so well in that way. Like, I was actually okay through that. I kind of knew it, but I. You could see it on your face if you watch back. I just know his face, despite the bowtie.
Johnny Weir
And he was, like, just crestfallen.
Tara Lipinski
He was really upset, upset by it. And I was like. I knew after. I was like, I need to get to him, to talk to him. Because, like, this is. It starts to feel real.
Johnny Weir
It's why I don't really read comments or emails or anything. I've got somebody scan everything for me, because I don't. Like, I can take criticism. It makes me feel like I can be better. I'm an athlete. But, like, I just. I never want someone to dislike me just because I'd rather you get to know me and then dislike me. And it just felt like they were coming at us from all sides. And I just felt so defeated. And I wanted to protect her, but at the same time, my whole world that I built in the game was crumbling, and it was just. It was a bad day.
Ria
It was a bad day.
Fran
You know, you bring up being an athlete, and I love that in one of your professionals, you were like, we weren't playing school games like this. Like, we were Olympians.
Johnny Weir
We trained on Christmas. I didn't do an Easter egg hunt because I was training. Like, it's true. And I think that's something. Like, during the Olympics, you marvel at these performances, but if you've not been an athlete or, like, in the realm or the satellite of an athlete before, you don't realize how much it actually takes and how much dedication. And I like to bring up being an athlete as much as we can, because, yes, our friendship, our hair, our clothes, all of that gets a lot of attention. But at the end of the day, we worked really hard for our position in this world, and I mean, it takes a lot to be an Olympian, so you can apply everything you learn as an athlete into everything else you do.
Tara Lipinski
And I think it was like a different take for us too, coming on a show like that. Obviously, we've been in entertainment and we're on live TV together, but we're analyzing figure skating, so it's something very serious. So you throw us into the reality world. I mean, back in the day, he had his own reality show, so he had more experience. But I was Tara's first. Yeah, it was my first. So, you know, we were very different than everyone else there. We weren't reality stars. We weren't looking for, like, allied. And our friendship meant so much that it was. It was a lot to juggle. And also the athlete mindset. We just. You want to do well for your team. So, like, the faithfuls became like Team usa And it just really wore on us when we were not doing well. You know, we felt like we were disappointing our team.
Ria

Johnny Weir
Well, I. I was excited about it. I was actually asked to do season one.
Tara Lipinski
Okay.
Johnny Weir
And I couldn't because of a prior engagement. But when we got the offer together, we definitely had to talk it through.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah. Cause it was hard for me because I had, you know, my daughter was only 15 months at the time, and I had never done reality. I never thought I was gonna, like, go down that path. But again, doing it with him, I was like, this is gonna be once in a lifetime experience. And the show is so fun and campy that I knew I could take it on. But, I mean, look how campy and fun it is. And I still was the one, like, crying throughout the whole.
Ria
It's true, because it's on one side of the coin, you want to do it with someone you know, but on the other side, it's like, ooh, do I want to do it with someone I know? Because you could get to a point where if you're playing the game, if something happens or all these things, like, we've joked about it, like, if we were on it, it's like, yeah. God, what would happen if one of us was a traitor?
Fran
One glass of wine, you're like, how much.
Ria
Okay, that's that. It's just.
Fran
Yeah.
Ria
So it's. I'm sure it was crazy, but I feel like until it got hectic at the end, you. The two of you did seem like you were having so much fun.
Tara Lipinski
We had so much fun. Even looking back at it now, we're always like, oh, my God, that was so much fun.
Fran
And we got to experience it. It's always the after.
Johnny Weir
Yeah, everything's prettier in hindsight.
Ria
Was Rob being the sole winner at that point a shock or not a shock to you guys?
Johnny Weir
Not a shock. And to be fair, he was a traitor. He was masterful. And if anybody should have won that thing alone, it should have been him. If it wasn't us, I was rooting for him because, like, every mission, he kicked ass. Every time we were in a social situation or doing reality, as it's called in the show, he made time to be friendly and talk to everyone. Someone could say it's strategy, but I also think there's some heart to Rob and, like, he was generally a lovely person for the most part, and that's why he was able to do so well. But I don't think it's all fake for the game.
Tara Lipinski
No, I'm with you 100%. And I think that, you know, when Johnny left, obviously, that was so awful for me. But I also knew that, you know, we made it to the last episode together, so there was only a little bit of time. So I actually felt, like, very focused and competitive in that moment. Cause I was like, I've gotta come through for Johnny, and we've gotta win it together. Even though he's not standing There. And I think I was a little. I was so sad. The first part of that episode where I really thought, well, you were still around at that point. I thought we won the game. Because Maura was like, all in on it.
Johnny Weir
Mora lied to her.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah, all in. And she's like, we're gonna go for Eric. He's gonna be so surprised. Like, my hands are shaking. I can't even believe. And I was like, johnny, we just won. It's gonna be me, you, and Maura at the end. And I really. I was so convinced by what she said to me that that first roundtable when he left was such a shock. By the end game, I kind of realized. I'm like, she's probably. I'm gonna try again. Maybe I'll get it. I was like, this is now really, like, 50. 50. If it could happen.
Fran
Hey, Rob may have won the whole thing, but he did make a promise to her, which was a Birkin.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
Oh, yeah. And he made it happen. And Maura's Birkin has gotten a lot of press. But you two walked in here. You guys came in with matching Birkin mug bags.
Johnny Weir
Okay. Funny story. So I've been a collector for a while, and I love Birkin bags. And it's like, the one thing I understand as far as an investment is concerned. If I ever need them, they're sitting there. But this is what we've been talking about.
Fran
It's an investment.
Johnny Weir
It's an investment. I don't sell them, though. So that's the thing.
Fran
Investment for yourself.
Johnny Weir
But skating is really big in Japan. And I had an Hermes guy in the Ginza shop, and I was going in to pick one up during the Olympics in Tokyo. And Tara went with me, and she hadn't really dove into the Hermes pool yet.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah, I was like, this is too much of a purchase. It was overwhelming.
Johnny Weir
But they took us into the room. She was obviously popular in the store as well. Cause skating is so big over there. And she watched the process unfold, like revealing it from the white bag. So you can wear the gloves, the whole thing
Tara Lipinski
out.
Johnny Weir
I'm like, oh, my goodness, It's a wowzer. And then she was like, well, I want one, and I want a matching one. And my guy, he was like, well, let me see what I can do. So in Japan, they get a really limited number of bags in a particular color. So it was a seasonal color. It was very special. I think it's very sought after now.
Fran
Should we shut?
Ria
I was gonna say nobody else in
Fran
the room touched there Touch them.
Ria
Yeah, but bring them in, you guys.
Noah
Yes. Yeah.
Johnny Weir
Otherwise, I'll have to ease my way out. Actually, you can look at the discoloration
Tara Lipinski
on and know which is who.
Johnny Weir
Which whose is whose.
Ria
Maybe a little tan on them.
Johnny Weir
Yeah, yeah, but. Yeah, so. So I love a Birkin bag, and this is in the color Nata, but our guy was able to source one. There were, like, six of this color in the whole country. And he got one for me, and he got one for Taylor.
Noah
Yeah.
Fran
I will have Sarah.
Ria
Yours looks like you use yours, you know.
Tara Lipinski
Oh, I really use mine.
Johnny Weir
Mine's just been to the spa to be fair.
Tara Lipinski
Okay, okay.
Fran
Fair, Fair.
Tara Lipinski
No, it was so crazy. Cause I didn't think I was gonna do that. But then the fact that we have matching ones.
Fran
Can you put my hand.
Ria
Which I just think is so funny, that you guys feel very right. And the show ends with, like, this being such a big thing that it's like this huge moment of Rob gifting her this bag. It's like. And everyone's like, well, shouldn't every. Who should everybody be getting a bag?
Fran
When did you guys get them?
Johnny Weir
So it was like, 2021, when the Olympics were in Tokyo.
Fran
Okay, so you've had them.
Tara Lipinski
Yeah.
Johnny Weir
I mean, it's old news now. Now we're trying to get our second
Tara Lipinski
situation, but we're working on our second round. We try to do a matching moment. It's very hard.
Ria
Yes.
Tara Lipinski
So, Johnny, I leave that to you.
Johnny Weir
Yeah, I'm working on it. Her handles. Can you. Some love.
Ria
Hers will go to the spa next.
Johnny Weir
No, it's wonderful. And I love, like, busting through a door, and we're both carrying the same bag. It's really cute. It's very on brand for us.
Fran
I love it. When you guys walked in, I was like, are those. I think they are. We've been talking about it all day.
Ria
We have been talking about nonstop, which is so funny. But we. I loved watching all the Olympic coverage from you guys. I feel like we had some major US Skating moments this year. Whether it was surprise in a good way, surprise in a bad way, just all over the place. Now that, you know, we're a little bit removed. What are you guys. What are you guys taking away from these Team USA moments?
Tara Lipinski
I feel like it was just a great moment for skating in general. I feel like the public really engaged with Team usa. You have Alyssa Liu and Amber, Glenn and Ilya Malinin and Max Nomov and all of their incredible stories and unique personalities, and it just felt larger than Life to me. And then you did. You had the ups and downs, which is what the Olympics bring. So you. You watch the heartbreak of Ilya Malinin, who was supposed to win gold against. You know, there was no. There was no odds against him. He just. It was, like, in the bag. And for something like that to happen was so shocking. But then also the. The greatest thing about his story, for me, was the way that he showed up for the Olympic champion that night and walked over there, and he was the example of the sportsmanship. And just for me, just off the ice, he's an incredible athlete, but I think it showed his character off the ice. And then I think Alyssa Liu for figure skating, it just reminds everyone why figure skating is so amazing. And just her mindset and the wisdom she has at such a young age and the way she's able to bring that to the ice is so refreshing. So I really feel like there's this resurgence right now in skating.
Johnny Weir
I mean, I have a skating school, and the rink is so crowded right now, so so many people are bringing their kids to learn to skate, and I think that's awesome. But the thing about the Olympics that was so special this time is that we come from. I mean, the Olympics as a whole are always something that we tune in for, and we love all the Olympics, but figure skating is our sport, and our sport is judged by strangers. So you often have the feeling as a skater that you want to please everyone and you don't want to ruffle feathers, and I wasn't that way in my career. But there are definitely a lot of people around me in my time that were trying to play by the rules and be the perfect little skater person. Whatever the judges wanted, that's what they were. And I think this Olympics, for the first time, really, we had a full menagerie of beautiful, authentic athletes, people that really were themselves, and they showed the world that you can win by being yourself. And I think that is the most special message that all the skaters gave to the world. This Olympic Games, and Team usa, of course, in particular. Between Ilya's sportsmanship, Amber's heart on her sleeve, Alyssa showing the world that you don't have to be exactly what you imagine when you think of a figure skater to win the gold. Chock and Bates being graceful in defeat, Team USA winning the team event. I think that there was just so much beauty and kind of that human vulnerability to all the skaters that we got to watch, more so than ever.
Fran
Seen that for years in skating, and especially some of the interviews They've been doing. I saw Alyssa was asked recently, she would say to her younger self, and I love that she was like. She was like, nothing. Like, she's. She's got it. Like, she'll figure it out. And I was like, I have never thought about responding that way, but I love that answer.
Tara Lipinski
Alyssa Lu should also become, like, a therapist and give us all advice because she's. She's got it down.
Ria
Yeah, she really does. I. I think I, like, lost sleep over Madison and Evan. Like, I was really couldn't believe it. It does. Like you said, you do those deep dives into the. Into judging and how it all turns out. All these things. Like, when you. How hard is it commentating on these moments where you sort of, of course, have your own opinion, because it is. You're coming off judges who also have their own opinion. That's their score. And you sort of have to honor their opinion. But at the same time, you're like, I don't know.
Johnny Weir
We call them out when we. When we really need to. But. But our first duty is to our audience, the people that invite us into their living room so that they can enjoy the skating with us. So we have a huge responsibility, but also a lot of gratitude for being able to share what our sport is with the world.
Ria
But you guys do an amazing job at that.
Noah
Thank you.
Johnny Weir
That's our first objective. And then, obviously, we get to sit in the booth with our best friend, and we enjoy each other's company. And I'm sure you guys love working together and sitting and gossiping and talking, so we infuse it with that as well. But sometimes the hard moments are really hard for us because we have both been there. We know what it feels like to lose by this much. We know what it feels like to have a rough performance and not fulfill expectations. And that really does help us with our job. Having the experience of it and trying to make it make sense to people without kind of tearing down the skater that you've just seen and saying, well, they lost a point here, they lost a point here. They did this a little bit incorrectly and not pooing on their moment and trying to lift them up. Because we respect and admire anyone that's brave enough to get out there and do this sport because it's so personal.
Ria
Yeah.
Tara Lipinski
And I think that's what makes. I mean, obviously bias, but I think that's what makes skating so special and so dramatic in a way. You know, it's still a little bit of a subjective sport. There's an Artistic score, there's a technical score, and now they've built a judging system that's all based on numbers. But at the end of the day, there's, you know, still personal preference that can change things. And I think, like you said, it's our sort of duty to know the ins and outs of that and try to explain it to the audience and make sure each athlete is sort of, you know, lifted up for their moment, too.
Johnny Weir
But we definitely. We lead with love. Like, that's where we come from as people, and that's who we were as skaters.
Tara Lipinski
Well, we've been there. We've been in every one of those
Ria
situations, which is why I think you guys are so great. And I think there is such a balance when you're watching a sport like figure skating, where you want to be focused on the.
Fran
On the.
Ria
On the skater, but at the same time, inform the viewer of what's happening and moves that are happening. So you can teach people, but also not, you know, talk over the entire performance. And then you lose the music. You lose the things. You guys have the perfect balance. I think it's really so great. It makes me love watching figure skating. And I think this past Olympics was so great for everyone watching that hopefully they'll continue to watch even when it's not the Olympics.
Tara Lipinski
That makes me so happy just to hear that. I mean, that's all we want is we love our sport so much. We grew up. It's our life.
Johnny Weir
We live our lives in Olympic cycles. Really. We have our whole lives.
Tara Lipinski
But we also now not only had our story in the sport, but we have watched Ilija from day one. We have seen these skaters grow up before our eyes and know the sacrifices they make for these moments. So all we want to do is commentate in a way that brings viewers in to realize what's so magical about skating.
Fran
And you guys absolutely do that. And we became so obsessed with it. Now for our book club, we're reading the favorites.
Ria
Yes.
Fran
Because we just couldn't get enough.
Ria
I know.
Fran
And did you record some of the audiobook?
Johnny Weir
Yes, I played Ella Steen for the audiobook.
Ria
That's amazing. Yeah, that's our book club book of the month. We're so into it.
Fran
So we're doing the favorites.
Ria
Yeah, we were like we should have done last month, but we're just extending our. Our obsession with it.
Johnny Weir
You do have the world championships this month.
Ria
Yes, exactly. Tune into that. So really excited. Thank you guys so much. We do have to. I know you guys have a. Have a heart. Out. So we have to wrap up. We could, but this was so great. We're so happy that you guys came into studio to talk to us so much.
Johnny Weir
Thank you. Thank you. And enjoy your. Your lives.
Fran
Your lives.
Ria
Thank you.
Fran
Thank you so much.
Johnny Weir
Podcasting.
Fran
Yeah. All right, that wraps up today's episode of Chicks the Office. Thank you so much for watching and listening. Seattle and San Diego, we are headed your way this week. There are a couple of tickets still on sale, so check those out if you're interested. We love you guys so very much and we'll talk to you on Wednesday.

Ria
Chicks in the Office.
Noah
Longtime listener, first time caller.
Ria
Look at the charts, who does it the best?
Fran
Two chicks getting paid in reality checks?
Ria
You can find them at the gym?
Fran
It's not even a flex? Last minute red carpet flew them out on the jet? Yeah, they're who you want to be? They're always on your screen? Two queens and they might be spilling royalty? A lot of topics that are popping here to get into.
Noah
I know a show that you probably
Fran
want to listen to.
Ria
Well, turn the heat up, turn the beat up?
Fran
Record the pod made a bag, put their feet up? The ones that leave no crumbs when they clean up?
Ria
Who's the pod that they all want to meet up? Who turned the heat up?
Fran
Turn the feet up, record the pod made a bag, put their feet up?
Ria
The ones that leave no crumbs when they clean up? Who's the pod that they all want to meet up?
Fran
