Lately, it seems like everything I buy is packed with unnecessary chemicals. And when I started looking into what's actually in the products I use every day, I was shocked that my laundry detergent is one of the worst culprits. So many brands use harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin and even pose health risks. But that didn't sit right with me, especially with something I use so often around my home. So I switched to Earth Breeze. Their detergent sheets are free from harsh chemicals like dyes, parabens, phosphates, and preservatives. And they're way easier to use. No heavy plastic jugs, no mess. Just a pre measured sheet that dissolves in seconds. I feel so much better knowing that I'm not being exposed to those unnecessary toxins and my laundry still comes out fresh and clean. If you want a gentler clean without harsh chemicals, switch to Earth Breeze. They're also backed by a 100% money.

Hello, everybody. Welcome to another episode of Christ with Coffee on Ice. I am your host, Ali Yost. It is a joy and honor to be here with you guys today. Happy Friday. Happy day, everyone. We have our coffee on ice. I keep bringing these. Why does it look chunky? Ellie? I'm gonna tell you guys. Wait, hold on, hold on. Okay, I'm gonna tell you why it looks a little chunky. Okay, so it looks chunky because I found this coffee mix, okay? It's like instant coffee, but it's protein coffee. Okay? So for every scoop, it's 10 grams of protein. It's really healthy, actually. The ingredients are super clean, believe it or not. And it's gorgeous. The brand is called Javi. This is literally not an ad. I just. I wanted to share this with you guys and I love them, and I honestly discovered them on TikTok Shop, but they're also on Amazon. You look it up. Yeah, it's really good. I literally have been making these for myself, like, every morning. And I will say that especially if you do two scoops. Sometimes I do two scoops. The texture can get a little thicker, which is why. But why do I like that, though? I'm, like, drinking them and I'm like, this is actually kind of yummy. It's giving, like, a coffee smoothie or, like, a coffee shake. And then sometimes if we're already, like, in the shake vibe, right. It kind of. It's a little thicker than your typical coffee. I'll also put collagen in it, too. So it's just, overall, we're getting all sorts of benefits while also drinking our coffee. So anyway, that's why it looks a little funny. And, y' all, this is the one that I told you has the big crack on it. But whatever, it's still working. It works. So we have our coffee on ice. We have our protein coffee on ice. Guys, I. I have to admit something. I forgot my Bible today. Ooh, I know. It's really, really bad, actually. I literally forgot it. I was reading it, and just out of reflex, I put it up on my shelf, as I do before packing all of my things. Also forgot my blanket. It's not here right now, so. Wait. Yeah, I didn't put the blanket up. Duh. Hold on. Actually, I did bring the blanket. I just forgot to set it up. One second, guys. One moment. Okay, y' all, we have our blanket. Anyway, I literally forgot my Bible, which is awful, but I do have the Bible on my phone. I just love having it in person. I think this is the first time ever recording the podcast where I don't have my Bible, so please forgive me, but I will say that today's episode, we're going to talk about a topic, and we are going to refer to scripture. But, yeah, we can just look up whatever we need on our phone. But how are you guys? I hope that you're having a great day. Yeah, so I. I wanted to talk about. And this is. This is a very famous in the Bible. A lot of us already might be familiar with it, but it is the story of the shepherd boy named David fighting this giant called Goliath. And I want to talk about it because actually, the very thing that inspired me to speak about this today is the show called House of David. I don't know if you guys have been watching it. It's on Amazon Prime. Ashley and I have been watching it at night. And because we really try to end our days, I try my best to make every part of my day. So somehow about God, you know, like, I just really want him in every part of my life. But it's so crazy. I don't know if. Have I told this to you guys before? So I realized there was a time in my life where I was getting prophetic dreams all the time from God, which was something I had to earnestly pray for and ask for until they finally started coming. And I was hitting kind of a drought in my journey with the Lord where, like, I wasn't getting as many dreams anymore. Near none, actually. I would. I would just wake up and I. No dreams at all. And after Googling and stuff, there were some things that I had found online that said that it really actually matters what you're consuming right before bed and what your routine looks like right before you go to sleep, and even, like, how you're waking up in the mornings. And so for me, I had realized that I wasn't consuming. I wasn't consuming bad content, but it was also content that just didn't really have anything to do with the Lord. I would just be like, scrolling on TikTok before I'm going to bed. Which obviously we all know is not the best for us in general. Not just talking about prophetic dreams or any of that, but it's like, it probably just shouldn't be doing that. But I was scrolling on my phone all the time before bed, just consuming all of this silly content. And then Ashley and I would watch shows and they wouldn't. We were watching Gilmore Girls for a little bit. And I will say the first few seasons were so sweet and wholesome. Like, they didn't feel super, super worldly. And then as the, you know, the series went on, it got really worldly. And we felt. We didn't even finish it. We felt convicted about watching it, which was sad because I really liked it. But then, you know, that's okay. It's okay. That's what the spirit of God is for, is to convict our spirits when things are just not right. And it's probably not a good influence for us to be consuming through our eyes or our ears. So we have been trying to make it more of a priority that at the ends of our days, whether it's a show to watch or it's like literally simply putting worship music on our tv, soaking music, we're just sitting, we're catching up on Our days, we're reflecting, we're praying. Like, we're spending time with God, but we're making sure that at the least, like, at the end of our day, we're sealing it with God and things that have to do with God. So thank God for the show House of David, because obviously, very biblically sound show. Amazing. All about the Bible. All about God. I will say, the first couple episodes, I was kind of like, I don't know. Like, I wasn't really in. I don't know. I don't like all the fighting and stuff. It's just me being a girl. I'm like, I don't like all the blood and the fighting and things like that. Even though that's probably very much how that time was, I didn't really love that. But y' all, the show is so good. Like, whoa. The more we kept watching it, the more I was like, wait, I'm obsessed with this. I loved that we were seeing the life of David. I had so much more respect for David and his story and his faith. And also, it literally inspired me so much to have that kind of faith, you know, because we all know the story of David. But to watch it like that, I was like, wait, no, I want to have that kind of faith. It was. It's so inspiring and it's so encouraging because the very God that was with David is, this is the same God that is with us today. Like, we forget that, you know, even when it goes back to the Old Testament and stories like this. It's like, that is literally the same God that we talk about today that we're talking about right now on this podcast. And the same God that is walking with you every single day. Can you believe that? I know it's kind of crazy, but it's true. It's just so encouraging to me because it's not just like this fun story we're watching. It's very much, very real. Yeah, I just. I would love to talk about that story. So to give, like, a brief kind of overview recap of the story of David, I would encourage you guys to go into 1 Samuel and read about it. So at this time, there was a king who was reigning over Israel, and his name was Saul, and he was so favored by God. God loved Saul so much. He's very obedient to the Lord, feared the Lord. But then there was a time in his reign where. And you can read all of this in First Samuel, where he was getting very power hungry and almost making himself his own God. He was Taking all the glory to himself, himself. And he basically was kind of turning his back on God. Like, he wasn't giving God the glory. He wasn't going to the Lord. I think all of these temptations, I think, honestly, that's a very real thing, is getting to a place of leadership or even power where a lot of people are looking at you. And it might even be tempting to kind of accept any type of glory or praise that comes to you from others. It's tempting to let that kind of get to your head. And I believe that's what happened to Saul. And so Saul kind of got prideful. He got really prideful. He was growing in ego. He was no longer humble. You know, the feet of God and the Lord saw this. And Samuel, who was the first prophet or seer, I guess they would say as well, he was the son. And the product that came from Hannah. And we've talked about her before on this podcast where she was married to a man. He had another wife. That other wife was able to bear children. Hannah was not. And she was desperately pleading to the Lord and being like, I want to be a mother so much. God, if you give me a, I will literally, like, his life will be all about you. And that ended up being Samuel dedicated his whole life to God, ended up being a crazy prophet of that time. Like, would he literally hear directly from God and tell people? And so Samuel had gone to Saul and basically warned him and was like, if you do not turn back to God, like, you are prideful, you have made yourself your own God. You have turned your back from the Lord. Like, if you continue this, the Lord will take you out of this position of being king of Israel, and he will put somebody else on that throne. And so Saul didn't listen, and he ended up continuing to act in those ways and be prideful and act as if he was his own king and his own God and to all these other people as well. Another thing that happened to Saul was he ended up. There were all of these demons that, like, entered him and started torturing him. So that was kind of a sad part of his story, too, is that because he refused to obey the Lord, he was demonically oppressed. He was kind of, like losing his sanity as well because of that. And so at that same time, there was this little shepherd boy who was a son of eight total, but he had seven brothers as well. So they were all boys. All of his brothers were very much like strong men, great fighters. They were called to, you know, to battle. And all these Things. And David was kind of giving like the underdog of the family. He was just this little shepherd boy where he was in charge of, you know, shepherding and helping out with the livestock there and protecting the livestock against lions and bears and stuff. So he was so special, especially to the Lord. And God also saw his faith. David had a lot of faith and fear of God. Like, he loved God so much. And the Lord saw that. So God had spoken to Samuel and said, I'm going to have you anoint a new man who will rise up to be the new king of Israel. So this will be the second king of Israel, and Saul will no longer reign. And so Samuel said, okay, God. And he went to this family. I believe that he felt led by the Lord to do that. And he's looking over all these boys and he's like, no, no, no, no. And it's confusing because I think even to their father, he was like, what do you mean? Like, these men are so. They're all so equipped. You'd think that at least one of them. But not. Then he gets to David. And it's so cool, because even in the show, they show how Samuel is like, oh, my God. Like, you. Oh, my gosh, you are going to be the next king of Israel. And it's so cool because that's just who God is. Like, we see this in Scripture, but God says that he doesn't care what's on the exterior. Like, he doesn't look at what's on the outside. And it's so funny, because I feel like the way that the world sees things is from the outside, like that outer shell. And God sees into us. Like, he sees people's hearts. He sees what's inside of them. He sees what's truly living in them. And that's what God saw. He didn't care that David maybe physically didn't look like the part of, you know, to be king. Like, God saw what was in his heart. And he knew that David was going to lead Israel well. And he knew that David was obsessed with God and would do anything for God, right? Which Saul was no longer doing. And so he needed that type of leader who also valued God's approval and fearing the Lord and listening to him as he would speak. Because Saul was ignoring God and completely rejected God and wasn't actively seeking the wisdom of the Lord. He was just all about himself. And so he needed a humble, humble being. And that's who David was. And so Samuel gets to David and he's like, oh, my gosh, you are king. This is just so cool, because not only does it show how true it is that God sees what's in our hearts. Like, he sees what's inside of us. He doesn't see the exterior. He doesn't see the obstacles. He doesn't see, oh, well, they technically can't do it because they're not equipped in this way. Like, he really loves to use what the world says can't be used. He loves to use the very things that everyone else says. There's just no way. There is no way that a boy like that could grow up one day to be the king of Israel and lead everybody. Like, there's no way. But God said, oh, there is a way, and it's through me. The other thing about David is he was very musically gifted. He loved to sing and play his little harp. I don't think it was a harp. I don't know. But he'd play his little instrument and he would sing. And a lot of his job also, aside from shepherding, was he would perform and play music for Saul, the king that was currently in rain. He would do this especially because Saul was under that oppression, that demonic oppression. So he was kind of, like, losing his mind. And I'm sure there were thoughts and things that were going through his head. He was probably hallucinating. Like, he was literally demonically oppressed and being tortured by these demons because he decided to turn his back from God. And so David would play songs to help soothe him and, like, relax him. And so that was another part of his job, is he. He would just sing and he'd be like, the entertainment for the king. And then also, like, I don't know if they would have any type of banquets or, like, gatherings and stuff, but he would also play music. So now we fast forward to the Philistines and the Israelites. So basically, the Philistines were coming for the Israelites and all of their territory and wanted to take over and basically make them slaves to the Philistines. And so there was the standoff that was happening between the Philistines and the Israelites. And so Saul, King of Israel and all of their leaders and their army and everything were standing there ready to battle the Philistines. But the one advantage that the Philistines did have was they had a giant named Goliath. This giant stood, I think, 9ft tall. Goliath was about 9ft and 9 inches tall. So to the average man, he had a good, like, three feet more than your average Joe. Okay, so he was a Very, very big human.
