Manga sales in Japan are slowly fading for the first time in eight years -- the whole domestic market just shrank 1.7% to ¥693 billion in 2025 after seven straight years of growth, with print volumes cratering 14.4% and magazines down 12.7% while digital barely eked out a pathetic 1.5% bump in the second half. Big hitters like My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Oshi no Ko wrapped up in 2024 so there weren't enough new juggernauts to prop things up. Meanwhile, manga stays winning in the US, dominating the industry and tanking western comics.
