Sony has confirmed that yes, there's a mandatory online check-in for digital PS5 and PS4 games. However, they're now saying it's a one time DRM check before turning into a full-fledged offline license to combat piracy. Is this the intention, or did Sony just get busted in 4K and are walking it back? And why did they wait so long to say anything about it?
