SEC style, five time Pro Bowler NFL leader in receptions in 2017, bro.
Joe Hayden
Drafted in the second round.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Dolphins broke the single season record not once but but twice for receptions for the dolphins in 2015. Did it again in 2017 so you know he's not, he's not here to play games. Our good man, Jarvis Landry.
Jarvis Landry
Yes sir man. Appreciate you guys having.
Joe Hayden
Welcome to the show, brother.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)

Man.
Jarvis Landry
I see them the bodies back there bro. I ain't get one.
Joe Hayden
You know what I'm saying? It's just. Just a little something. I just let everybody know. Just what it's. You know.
Jarvis Landry
That's a great frame. That's a great frame. That's a great frame.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Come on, Juice, you right. You know, it's just.
Jarvis Landry
We got our helmets, Joey. Good. You know, we got our helmets.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You know what I'm saying? We put in our time.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, yeah, I see. I see your helmet. I see the team. I see all the teams you played for. Miami, lsu. Let's go, let's go. That's it.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You just ain't have enough space for all the other. For the. For the other helmets.
Joe Hayden
Hey, you know, hey, hold on, hold on, hold on. Hey, Jarvis, where.
Jarvis Landry
Where.
Joe Hayden
Yo, I. I'll even show you something.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
So, you know, I got a. I
Joe Hayden
got a Bengals helmet. I played for them.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You got. You got a Patriots.
Joe Hayden
Oh, got a Ravens helmet. I play.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Hold up. Hey, Debo, you got the mini. That don't count.
Joe Hayden
You said the mini helmet. Hold on, hold on.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
That don't even count.
Jarvis Landry
He got the. He got. He got the exclusive signature helmet.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
See, there you go.
Joe Hayden
I got the. I got the big one, too, now.
Jarvis Landry
Okay,
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Okay, okay.
Joe Hayden
You know, let's go ahead and look here, and you already see. You already see the Stiller helmet sitting right over there in the corner, right?
Jarvis Landry
I'm not a big collector, though.
Joe Hayden
I'm not a big collector.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
He's not a collector.
Joe Hayden
Hold on, hold on. Jarvis. Jarvis, let me talk to you, baby.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Let me talk to you. But he's not a big memorabilia guy.
Joe Hayden
I'm just. I'm. It's not memorabilia. It's just about, you know, where you been, you know, where you play, your. Your history of what you're doing. I mean, Joe, you got a Steelers helmet, and you got a. You got. You got a Brown.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I got gators.
Joe Hayden
I just want to know. I just want to know, Jarvis, why no. Why no Browns home?
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, man, listen, listen, I. You know, I. I love Cleveland. I. I love that organization. I love the fans there, the community there. You know, I. I didn't want to leave, right? But you know, when I.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
When I.
Jarvis Landry
When I finally got released, man, I. Honestly, bro, I was. I was back in Miami. Everywhere they went back to go get this, Go get my things. Kind of told my brother to go handle it, but, you know, I'm sure I got some stuff around here somewhere, but. Okay, nothing that made the show today.
Joe Hayden
Nothing that made it, so.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
All right, I got some pressing. My dog, man, he Just moving. He got like.
Joe Hayden
Joe got two of them.
Jarvis Landry
You know, it's still a dog check around here, you know, adults.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Thank you.
Joe Hayden
You knew where you bone at. You ain't got your dog.
Jarvis Landry
Dogs gotta eat.
Joe Hayden
You're
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
gonna talk. Thank you, Juice.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, man. For sure, man.
Joe Hayden
Brother, brother. Real. Yeah. Like you said, you know, real talk. All that other.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Don't leave them.
Joe Hayden
Joy mentioned you set that. You set that record there with the, with the receptions, but over the course of your first, I believe it was six years, you actually set the NFL record. Like, what, what enabled you, you know, to be consistent in those early years? Like, how. How were you able to.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
To.
Joe Hayden
To do that?
Jarvis Landry
I just. Honestly, bro, like, work ethic. I had a lot of great teammates, you know, and work ethic. You know, I. I stayed at the practice. I'm sure you guys seen guys like Antonio Brown, other guys that you guys played with throughout the years, right? Stay out the practice, get the extra work. Working on hands, working on hand eye coordination, you know, working on situations, running that extra route after practice, you know what I mean? All those things matter. All those things count for something, bro. And it really, it really was a gift, bro. These, this size, 11 hands, 4x gloves for a reason.
Joe Hayden
Okay, Okay.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I would ask you this, bro. I played in the league, too, and getting drafted. You got drafted to Miami and you went and did work there, you know what I'm saying? Like, you balled out. And when you got traded, is that when you finally realized, like, the business aspect of the game and was it a culture shock when you got to Cleveland? Like, that was kind of my question. Like, when you. When did you really realize, like, this is a business, man?
Jarvis Landry
Well, you know what, Joe? I didn't even realize it then, like, because at the same time, I never played the game for money.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah, no, for sure.
Jarvis Landry
I played the game, like, just out of pure love, out of pure respect, right? For the game. When I got to my contract year, I had a decision to hold out or to go to training camp. At that time, I said, you know what? I'm going to show up. I'm going to be a team guy. I'm going to go to training camp, I'm going to go do everything, compete at a high level, show them that, like, I'm a Dolphin, I want to stay here, I want to be here. Yes, man. That season ended, there was like, man, we got 11 million for you now, mind you, top guy at that time getting paid 15, 14. I think it's Julio Jones Odell just got paid okay. And we had a guy on our team named Kenny, steals Kenny. Steeles are making about $11 million a year. And I'm just thinking to myself, it's like, there's no way y' all see us the same.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah. No. You just broke the record, the NFL record for receptions.
Jarvis Landry
I'm like, there's no way y' all see us the same. So let's keep talking about it. I decided to let my agent handle it. I stayed out of it. Next thing you know, they were like, dave goes to the combine and, like, does trade talks. We'll let you talk to other teams and, you know, maybe we'll. We'll consider, you know, matching. That's kind of like the conversation they get. Combine, that happens. Next thing you know, I'm either about to go to Tennessee, I'm about to go to Baltimore. So I'm gonna. Okay, yeah. So I'm on the phone. Cleveland was never in the picture.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
That's what I'm trying to figure out.
Jarvis Landry
So my coach at the time, I'm not gonna say his name, but my coach at the time, it was his thing in team meetings where he say, if somebody don't wanna play for the Miami Dolphins, I'll send your ass to Cleveland.
Joe Hayden
Oh, shit.
Jarvis Landry
And at that, Cleveland one is 15. Owen zero. 16. Essentially send you to Cleveland so your career could die. So we got through the whole process. We get to the.
Joe Hayden
Damn. That was your coach in Miami.
Jarvis Landry
So we get to the. We get to the. We get through the process. And mind you, I got a cystic fibrosis charity event the same night that I got traded to Cleveland at the Miami Dolphins Stadium. So I get to the stadium, they call me. There's like, man, you going to Cleveland? I'm like, cleveland? I'm like, what happened to Tennessee? What happened to Baltimore?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Oh, they don't. They. Yeah, them. Send your head to Cleveland. That's what they said, Send me to Cleveland.
Jarvis Landry
So it was one of those symbolic things, you know, like, hey, like, you don't want to be with us. You. You know what I'm saying? No question. So my mindset, Joe, when I got to Cleveland was, this ain't gonna be like how it was last year. Yeah, right.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah.
Jarvis Landry
So if you look at any of my presses when I first got to Cleveland, I'm smiling, I'm excited because there's an opportunity to do something here that hasn't been done in a long time. Right?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah.
Jarvis Landry
And the type of.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Did they get you a contract when you went there?
Jarvis Landry
Of course.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Okay.
Jarvis Landry
Of Course. Okay.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Okay. Okay. Of course.
Jarvis Landry
So we got paid. Your boy got paid. Your boy got paid. But at the same time, like, it was really as much as it was about, like, making sure my family was straight and secure. I'll be honest with you, that was a great feeling to sign that deal, but it also was like, yo, like, my mentality is like, everywhere I've been, I've won.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah, no, for sure, for sure.
Jarvis Landry
And I've always felt like I was. I was always. I always felt like either my leadership or my play played into those things, right? And we had guys like Tyrod Taylor that came in. You know what I mean? We had other guys that came in with me where I'm like, okay, we. We drafted Baker Mayfield. You know what I mean? Like, there's some, you know, we can.
James Debo Harrison
We can.
Jarvis Landry
We can get some shit going, brother. You know what I mean? So I was optimistic going into Cleveland. Very, very highly optimistic.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
And did Odell end up coming there, too?
Jarvis Landry
That.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
How long were you there before Odell came?
Jarvis Landry
So I was there a year. And that crazy story. I remember talking on the phone with John Dorsey. John Dorsey called me. I'm training here in South Florida one year after our first year. So I think our first year we went like 6 and 12 or something like that. I don't even remember. And then John Dorse calls me in that whole year. I'm like, man, we gotta get Odell here. We gotta get Odell here. He. I don't think he happy, blah, blah, blah. He calls me on the phone like 10 o' clock at night time. He's like, hey, you think your guy want to be a Brown? And I'm like, yeah, he want to be a Brown for sure. And at this time, I hadn't talked to him yet, but I'm like, yeah, obviously. I'm like, yeah, I'm here. Yeah, right, right. So I remember calling him. I remember calling Odell. I hung up with John Dorsey. I called Odell on the phone. Odell's in Paris at the time, I believe. And I'm like, yo, I think it's a real possibility, bro. Like, they calling me, they asking me like, like, what's up?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah.
Jarvis Landry
And Odell's like, man, look, I don't really want to do it, but if the Giants don't want me, it is what it is called, Glenn. I called John Dorsey back. I'm like, what's up? Hour later, day later, he a Brown.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
See, that's what that. I ain't gonna lie. That's what I'M saying. Cause when I got released from the Browns and I started looking back over there, they was bringing in talent. And I know what you're saying. Being optimistic because you a good player. If I'm here, I'm gonna bring the vibes. I'm bringing the energy. I'm not gonna instantly think we gonna lose. So I'm rocking with you, bro. Thank you, Jarvis.
Jarvis Landry
No. Hell, no. And people.
Joe Hayden
Hey, man, after hearing that story, I don't even know how you got a Miami helmet back there, man. Listen, that man tried to send you to. To. To. To. To kill your career.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
It's all good.
Jarvis Landry
He ain't.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Look, he did work there.
Jarvis Landry
No man can curse what God has made. No question.
Joe Hayden
No question, Joe. Hey, man, you might want to get one of your cleaning helmets to replace that Miami.
Jarvis Landry
I don't know.
Joe Hayden
I don't know. I don't know.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I know he got another one somewhere in there.
Jarvis Landry
Oh, for sure. There's. There's some around here in storage or something like that for. We still in a little bit of construction inside the house, so, you know.
Joe Hayden
Oh, y'. All. I forgot. I forgot. Y'. All. Y' all boys, y' all got that money. I'm just. I'm just trying to keep a roof over my head, man. I'm living paycheck to paycheck.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Juice, he just be out here line. He be saving, you know what I'm saying? He do his thing, but he go spend it on some wine.
Jarvis Landry
Huh?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Huh? Devo got his stuff he gonna spend his money on. Yes. Don't let him trick you. Don't let him trick you.
Joe Hayden
Listen, the nutrition, the nutrients from. No, it's poison. I ain't gonna lie.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Hey, yo, Juice.
Jarvis Landry
One glass a day, though.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
One glass a day. One glass a day is fine.
Joe Hayden
I don't know about that, man. That might be a lie. If I do one glass a day, that means the bottle's still sitting there like I gotta. I might as well just drink the whole bottle.
Jarvis Landry
That's.
Joe Hayden
You know, Ain't no need to open a bottle if you ain't gonna finish it.
Jarvis Landry
I heard that, too. I heard that, too.
Joe Hayden
That's. Hey, that's wasted. Can't be wasted.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Look, look, look. Since we talking about. Look, can we talk about the Browns for a little bit? Just a little bit longer? Yeah. You know what I'm saying? You did your time there with me, so I'm asking. I wanna figure out, what do you think is going on, shaping up now with the Shador and the Deshaun? Watson situation, man, who do you think they should start? How do you think they should work that? And just, just from your honest, like, outside looking in, you know what I'm saying? Because now, now we could really look at it like, all right, bet this is what I think they should do. This is what, you know, this is how I feel.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, man. I think personally, with the numbers, I know they've done some restructuring with deshaun Watson contract and things like that, but I think with the numbers, you got to let him get, you got to give him one more opportunity, Okay? I think you got to give him one more opportunity. I think Shador did show flashes of, of him playing early despite his situation with, you know, through coaching, through not getting reps and all this stuff, right? But I think if you're going to have a guy like desean Watson on your roster at that number and you can't deal him, you got to give him one more, you know, opportunity, right? Cleveland may be past that point, but. But at the same time, I think if he gets back to half of the deshaun Watson that he was in Houston, bro, you know, I think they could be successful. Obviously, they still need pieces at the receiver position. A quarterback is still, you know, only as good as his weapons, too. You know what I mean? So there's only so much that he could do. Is only so much any.

Jarvis Landry
quarterback right there can do you know what I mean? And also protecting them. So it's a lot more, I think that Cleveland had to be figured out. But from, from that standpoint, in that quarterback position, I do feel like Shador is the guy he could use one more year of just learning, building, growing.
Joe Hayden
Whoa.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
So you saying he's saying, let desean
Joe Hayden
stop, let him go and has Shador sit behind you.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, I think, I think Shador based on when he was drafted. Based on. Based on you gonna have him for another year. Right? I just don't think it's, it's a situation where, you know, you let DeShawn DeSean just ride on the bench at that number.
Joe Hayden
I'm not saying you let him ride on the bench. I'm just saying you don't hand it to it and just. And just let him go with it.
James Debo Harrison
I'm.
Joe Hayden
I'm all with the GM saying, hey, open competition and whoever gets to start gets to start. I'm cool with that. But for me, handing it to Watson, he ain't played a game in the last two years, and, and the last time that he did play, his numbers are comparable to what Shador is. And Shador has a very big upside that he's a rookie doing those same numbers.
Jarvis Landry
I agree, I agree, I agree.
Joe Hayden
So for me to just hand it to him, along with the fact he done worked us over for about 200 something million already that he ain't. He ain't earned, you think I'm gonna give him the opportunity just to say, here, go with it. Not give a chance to Sudor, to fight for that starting position. And now you go put me on the hook for another 230.
Jarvis Landry
And hell yeah. But at the same time, you're gonna. You're gonna let. You're gonna let somebody that got you for 230, 250 just sit on the bench the whole time?
Joe Hayden
No, I'm gonna let it play out in camp. I'm just not giving. I'm not giving it to nobody. I'm giving. I'm. I'm splitting reps between these two guys, and I'm gonna see who it is that I want to go with. And Deshawn is going to have to do something significantly greater for me to give it to him.
Jarvis Landry
That's fair. But then, as a gm, you also have to think, right, this cap hit, I can't deal this guy, right? I want him to get as much film out there playing as possible. Shador is our quarterback.
Joe Hayden
He's off your radar after this year. He's all. He's off your books.
Jarvis Landry
He's off the books after this year. Yeah, through the. Through the restructuring and he's done.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah, yeah, he's done.
Joe Hayden
So why am I gonna do all that to go ahead and possibly. I mean, it's great if you go and you get back to old Watson, but you ain't getting back to old Watson, brother. You ain't been old Watson since I will. 20. Whatever it is like with this one.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Let me hop in this.
Joe Hayden
When it. When it comes down to it, he's going to be there. He. You got. You got to keep him there. He's going to be a very expensive backup because you got no choice. You guaranteed this man all this money. So when it comes down to, to me, like I'm going to go and have him and Shador go head to head and I'm going to make a true honest decision of is, is it worth it compared to what I'm getting from the play for the pay to go and say here, now this is yours, Watson. Because it ain't gonna be a situation where you're gonna just be like, okay, he's a little better and give it to him. You putting yourself on the hook for a whole lot of paper. When I could say, you know what? I see what Shador did. He got seven games. Watson's last time he played healthy was seven games in 24. The numbers look about the same. No question. Shador got a whole bunch more interceptions. But again, you're talking about a learning curve, a growing curve. Watson did that with when he was well into his veteran years. So for me, I got to sit back and be like, as a gm, let me go ahead. This is off my books after.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah, yeah, Juice. I think we was kind of on the same page. I think you were saying, just looking at it from the 200 million perspective, that's a lot of bread, you know what I'm saying? And I think a lot of these teams now too, when we looking at like Kyler Murray, they, they already, they cut their losses, you know what I'm saying? When you're looking at. It's another quarterback that did it was Kyler Murray that had a 200 and it was another quarterback that just got hey, Miami a tour. They just let go of Tua and they 96 million. So it's like end of the day I'm looking at it. Shador was a fifth round pick. He had a couple of good starts. He won three out of his four games. At the end of the season, DeSean's coming off of ACLs. So we want to see what's going on. Deshaun, you not going nowhere. You on the roster. If the Shador. Shador starts looking crazy, you know what I'm saying? Then we got, we got desean there and then we know Shador is not going to be our future. But same thing. Browns need a lot like you said so in the draft they need some receivers Shedor. You don't really know how good he look. If you don't. If he ain't got the options to be able to throw it to him. So I'm more of the joint. Get him the line, get him Some receivers, right? See if this year can be better. Don't be patting the ball, you know what I'm saying? Like, don't spin out. I need to see growth because I believe in Shador. I didn't think he should have been a fifth round pick coming out of Colorado. I think people did him dirty. I think he should have been a first round pick. So now when I'm looking at him, I'm looking at him as from a first round lens, like, all right, bet he got in. They let Dillon go first, and then they had Flacco, then Dylan Gabriel, then Shador got his time. And when I seen Shador in there, I seen the ball finally going through the air. We were winning games. He threw for 300, you know what I'm saying? Like a couple of the picks and stuff. We seen some people dropping the ball. So I think seven picks were on him. He had seven touchdowns. So not the best, but give him some more weapons, give him some time. Kevin Stefanski is the person I'm looking at. Like, he wasn't rocking with Shador, you know what I'm saying? I just see, like, he wanted Dylan Gabriel to succeed. He didn't even. Wouldn't even call Shador by name. So I'm like, now we got Todd Monkin, somebody that actually sees that he likes Shador. You can see like, oh, no. Actually says his name speaks highly on him. Says he's in the building, he's in the facility. He didn't get no reps with the first team last year, you know what I'm saying? So now, boom, get some first team reps. You and d', Sean, y' all splitting them. Let's see what you look like you started last year. So I love just the factor of now. Shador having options, having the players, and Deshaun, 200 million, you crank. It's all good. I want you to succeed. You had two ACL joints, so I'm hoping you look good.
Jarvis Landry
Achilles, Achilles.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You had two Achilles. Achilles. Man, I hope you look good, but
Jarvis Landry
I think if I had my GM hat on, right? And I think, Debo, y' all both make good points. But to your point, Debo, I think if I had my GM hat on, I think it's Shador's. I think it's Deshaun's job to lose, right? Oh, I think, I think, I think, I think what the cap spin and the risks that we put into this investment. Into this investment, right? Because. And now. And I'll ask you a real question.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah.
Jarvis Landry
If this doesn't work out for DeSean Watson in Cleveland this year. Shador gets to start is DeSean's career essentially. Who's picking him up?
Joe Hayden
No, no, that's, that's, that's not.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I don't know.
Joe Hayden
Worry about.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I don't know. You already by this time, you already 200 up. So you met 250 now so did the teams. And everybody's looking at you like nobody owe you no payday. We hopefully you gonna come and get a prove it deal. You're gonna sign one of these minimum jumps and like be on the team fighting for a spot because you. 250 up. That's how GMs are looking at you now. They're not looking at you like, oh, you're trying to get a deal. You're on your rookie contract, right? You up. Which is why.
Jarvis Landry
Which is why it's Deshaun's job. You gotta understand is Deshaun. It's his job to lose to me. It's his job to lose.
Joe Hayden
I. Look, so you're saying it's his.
Jarvis Landry
He gonna compete for it. He gonna compete for it. But, but, but he, he will be my front runner until.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Because of the bread. Because I understand what you're saying.
Joe Hayden
So if he wasn't making that money like that, would he still be your front runner?
Jarvis Landry
No, it wouldn't be. No, it would.
Joe Hayden
Okay, so hold up, hold up. Now he's your front runner. His numbers are a little better. Are you starting me?
Jarvis Landry
Yeah.
Joe Hayden
Okay. Now at the end of that year, he's in bottom whatever it may be, comparatively to what Shador did. If you gave Shador that season. They're close, fighting together now he says new deal, 50 million. What are you doing now?
Jarvis Landry
Shador, my quarterback. Selfish. Shador's the.
Joe Hayden
So why are you sitting him down and stunting his growth right now?
Jarvis Landry
I think there's still some development that needs to happen there. You know, Joe, Joe refers to it real game fire.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
We noticed.
Joe Hayden
You can.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Look Aaron Rodgers, you can sit the beat bench for two years. It's only a second
Joe Hayden
I can sit behind Aaron Rodgers to sign.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I'm saying if he might get. Listen, who knows? You need two quarterback. He might get hurt. I mean, not, not saying that at all. But you going there with two quarterbacks,
Joe Hayden
that's a true story.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
That's why even if this shadow is starting, he could get. Something could happen. You need another quarterback that you could rely on. That backup is legit. That's a real position in the NFL.
Joe Hayden
You need as. As a gm, I'm not putting myself in that position to have to make a hard decision based on him being a small amount better.
Jarvis Landry
And, and I, I, maybe I could say this and I'll speak for myself. I won't speak for y', all, but y' all could tell me how, how this happened for y'. All. I didn't really make my jump until year three. I didn't really. I didn't really was like, oh, this is easy. Until, like.
Joe Hayden
So they had you sitting behind somebody, not getting no snaps, playing games.
Jarvis Landry
I was sitting behind a couple people early on my rookie season.
Joe Hayden
You ain't getting no snaps is what I'm saying. They're not about to be switching quarterbacks in and out, brother.
Jarvis Landry
I, I know. No, that cannot happen in NFL. It's not college. I, No, I totally. No, no, I get that. I get that. But, but, but this is where Shador has to be a pro in practice, right? He has to be a pro leading up into the game. He has to take all those necessary reps even, even after, after practice, before games, training, you know, getting ready like a starter. Yeah. I would say this.
Joe Hayden
You don't believe.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I believe this.
Joe Hayden
Quarterback is the practice.
Jarvis Landry
Quarterback is one of play.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
A thousand percent.
Jarvis Landry
The toughest is one of the toughest positions to play. I feel like sometimes, and I spoke about this on my show before, when you put some quarterbacks in that situation, that situation too early, it does never. It never. It doesn't go well for them. And if it doesn't go well for them, that's. That's, that's generally their career. That's generally what they're going to get judged by for the most part of their career until they get in the right scheme or the right fit or are coming as a backup. And, and you know what I mean? And then, you know, reignite their career. Like, I feel like Shador has the intangibles. I know he's going to be a great quarterback in the league. I think nothing is wrong with him, you know, being a solid number 2 backup. 1a, 1b. However you want to. However you want to call it. Right. And if this shit is not working after game four, game five with, With Deshaun Watson, we need to get him out of here. Yeah, but I'm paying him too much money. I'm paying him too much money. To have to go three years with him. Not ever playing in a game is insane. That's bad business by Up Top.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
This is what I'm telling you.
Jarvis Landry
Bad business.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You are speaking exactly right. And they've been doing bad business, though. They knew it was a bad deal. He said it. The owner, Haslam, said this was a terrible. We took a swing and a miss, you know what I'm saying? And now he's trying to say, no, maybe it could be a swing and we get it back. I'm like, no, no, no, no, coach, you already. 200 down on the. On the deal. This last 50. It is what it is.
Jarvis Landry
Like, we. We could.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I'm with you. With letting him play because that's $50 million on a quarterback. Let me see what he can do. And with Shador there knowing, like, this is only his second year, he can learn or whatever. But I'm more of a position where Shador got to lose it than Watson got then. Then it's Watson's job.
Jarvis Landry
So. Other way you think it's the other way around?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I just. I just think it's the other way around, and I think it's a possibility. The same way you said that Shador could get in. That's the same way I think that Watson would be able to get in. They already lost the two. But you're going to keep them. I want them to both battle. He started the last games. He did his thing, and he's in the building, bro. He's doing all of the things that I need to see from a quarterback, the coach's perspective, the team rallying around him. So it's just like, don't take him out. Now you got a young bull, I think was a first round quarterback that's studying going into the OTAs, like, really trying to get it done. So if he does not end up looking crazy, first five, six games, you got DeSean. He's still there working, and now he got something to prove. Because if he don't do nothing, then he's going to be somebody else's backup quarterback. He out the league, you know what I'm saying?
Jarvis Landry
But. But y' all know, like, I know how the league works. And if that situation happens, then from. I think from a negotiating standpoint, right? Deshaun Watson come in game five. Let's just say save our season.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I doubt it.
Jarvis Landry
Now we. Now we like this one. We might have to give him an extra, extra Debo, because. Because now our. Our hopes in our. Our promising future, you know what I'm saying? It's a tricky situation. It's a.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You, you.
Joe Hayden
You really think he could come in there after not really being productive in the last five years and go to the level that he was in Houston and he hasn't even come close to touching.
Jarvis Landry
Well, I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say this. I'm gonna say this. Let's think about the division, right? Our guys in Cincinnati been struggling, right? Trying to stay healthy, trying to stay on the field. So that can go either way, right? They lose their defensive end. You know, who's, who's, who's wreaking.
Joe Hayden
Well, they really do. Defense. What?
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, but, but, you know, anyway, I played in where we. We planted for him, period. Like, you know what I'm saying, right? You think about the Baltimore situation, right? Great team, most likely going to win the division, but they lose their OC to Cleveland. Let's see how that play out with a new head coach, new system, right? You go down to Pittsburgh. I know y' all talking about this quarterback will something, but I don't, I don't. I don't know if that's the. You know what I mean? Like, the division to me.
Joe Hayden
We don't know. The division to me is we ain't seen nothing.
Jarvis Landry
And I feel like I rather go in it with the veteran than the rookie right now. Have. Rather have the rookie at the backup.
Joe Hayden
Okay, I got a question for you
Jarvis Landry
because the division is open.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I hear you. Receiver, too.
Jarvis Landry
I hear you.
Joe Hayden
I got a question for you real quick.
Jarvis Landry
Whoever. Whoever the quarterback need help, go ahead. I'm sorry.
Joe Hayden
Put Aaron Rodgers in Cleveland.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Now.
Joe Hayden
Where you at as far as who's starting? No, put Aaron Rodgers in Cleveland. Where is your division set up? Now, you said you, you don't know about Will. You said you want a veteran quarterback.
Jarvis Landry
Aaron Rodgers in Cleveland.
Joe Hayden
Aaron Rodgers or the sign Watson with
Jarvis Landry
the, with the, with the receivers? I don't know.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I just don't know.
Jarvis Landry
I don't know if the supporting cast and that. No shade to none of the receivers in Cleveland. No shade to none of them, right? They got some young talent, right? But.
Joe Hayden
Okay, Jerry Judy, nice in Pittsburgh.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yes.
Joe Hayden
You got a choice right now between Aaron Rodgers, Desan Watson. Who you going with?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I'm going a rod.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, I'm going a rod, too, bruh. I, I. Only thing, I. Only thing I had was hesitant as is is Defoe. Hopefully he come back with some mobility, right?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
But look, Jarvis, you saw the last. Like, you're right, now you're thinking, now you're getting faster. You thinking now I'm getting faster. You know what I'm saying?
Joe Hayden
And then, like this, man, I had two.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
And no disrespect, because I want him to be going crazy. The world is better when Deshaun Watson hoops out, when he's out there balling. But when you are a quarterback and you run and throw and that's what he could do, both, like, that's what made him special. You know what I'm saying? Now it's 2026. The last time he had that season was 2020. So I'm like, ah, you know what I'm saying? Like, just expecting him to come back and be running around looking like he did is a lot to ask.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, I think. Regardless of who to quote.

Jarvis Landry
I think regardless of who the quarterback is, they need some receiver support.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
That's a fact.
Jarvis Landry
They did a. They've hollowed in some old linemen, things like that, but they need a lot of receiver support. They, you know, get their running back healthy. Their tight end played really great for him last year. The young, the young kid, I think he was like rookie, you know, first team, all rookie team or whatever it is, right?
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Running back and the tight end. Both of them. Yes.
Jarvis Landry
So they got those little pieces together. Obviously we all played AFC North. We know it's a physical ass division, like whoever's running the ball, controlling line of scrimmage more than likely going to win those games. But we also Know those guys on the outside do make big differences.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yes.
Jarvis Landry
And. And they need some. I think Cleveland needs some help. They need a little bit of help. Maybe that's what they're going to be drafting. You know, that's.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
But I'm hoping receivers in line.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah. Because it don't matter who back there. We could, we could put Tom Brady back there. I don't think it going.
Joe Hayden
I don't know if you put Tom Brady back there.
Jarvis Landry
Not even. You can't catch it now. You can't catch it. I can't get open.
Joe Hayden
Hey, listen.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Can't get open. Somebody right in your pocket.
Joe Hayden
Okay, I go with that. I go with that. I go with that. Can't get over.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, man. But I actually. So, so. True story. I actually played with Todd Monkin in Cleveland my first year.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Okay.
Jarvis Landry
And how was that? Man, he was cool. Again, it's interesting to see how he's interacting with Shador right now and throughout the organization. I was, I would be honest with you, I was surprised with the hire. Okay. But at the same time, he went down to Georgia, did his thing, won a national championship, came up to Baltimore, helped Lamar with the MVP season. Well, obviously Lamar, but you know what I mean. Yeah, let's call it spade a spade, but at the same time he was a part of that, calling plays and things like that. But I will say it's going to be interesting to see how that dynamic plays out when we get in season when the Bullets actually start flying and not just taking photos and you know, looking cool. And I want to see what the interactions become then.
Joe Hayden
What, what, what person or type of coach did you think Cleveland would hire with you being surprised with the Monken hire?
Jarvis Landry
Man, I thought, I thought that, I thought they would go with a defensive hire. I think that, I think most of their head coaching jobs that they filled over the last couple of years have been all offensive minded. You know, Hugh Jackson was an offensive minded coach. Kevin Stefanski offensive minded coach. We had. Freddy Kitchens was an offensive minded coach. You know what I mean? So I thought that, you know, being at the AFC north was more of a tougher division. You know, obviously our defense, Jim Schwartz, I thought he was going to get the job. I really was. Jim Schwartz. Yeah.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah, Jim Schwartz.
Jarvis Landry
I really thought he was going to get the job. You know what I'm saying? Because that defense, every defense he's coached down there been top 10, top five every year. That defense that they played in Cleveland, Cleveland defense ain't took no, ain't dropped no losses.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yes.
Jarvis Landry
You know, so I'm thinking like, okay, you got that. And the defensive coach, y' all know defensive coach brings structure to the team.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yes.
Jarvis Landry
You know what I mean? And that way an offensive guy can come in and just focus on the offense, opposed to being like, okay, I'm trying to focus on the offense and call plays. Sometimes that's too much, especially for first time head coaches. First time head coaches, you're trying to call a play. You're trying to control the tone of the team. You're trying to lead. You're trying to deal with the defensive knucklehead, the offensive knucklehead, make sure the quarterback is on it. It's. That's tough for a first time head coach who just want to call plays. He literally just want to call plays. You hiring offensive coordinators as head coaches. Not that it's a bad thing. Everybody can do it.
Joe Hayden
You play with.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I don't like that.
Joe Hayden
You play with Baker Mayfield in Cleveland, right?
Jarvis Landry
You know this.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Come on. Yeah, that's my guy.
Joe Hayden
Why, why, why, why? That Stefanski, Baker Mayfield situation, why you think that ain't work out? What was the real big. What was the deal, man?
Jarvis Landry
I don't think it was beef, man. I just think it was more of like. And I. And I said this. When Shador went, there was what, Kevin Stefanski. And again, people think that I'm bashing Kevin Stefanski and all that stuff. And I'm not trying to bash that Kevin Stefanski. I'm really just calling it how I internally saw it and tried to have, like, my interpretation, right? Like, the quarterback development in Cleveland just wasn't there. Like, like. And I felt that way about Shador as well. Like, you know, like, there's situations where I'm just like, damn, man. Like, we could be. We could have had better conversations. We could. We could be watching more film together. You know, things. You know, things like that, right? Like, and it was weird.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah.
Jarvis Landry
Let's just say that.
Joe Hayden
Let's say that.
Jarvis Landry
You know what I'm saying? I can show you. I'll send y' all a text after I'm finished. When I texted my homie about the Shador going to Cleveland thing, literally what I said word by word, because, you know, I think he's a great player. I thought Shador was. I think Shadow is a great player, but I do think he need coaching, Right? I think he can't just rely on his talent anymore. Right?
Joe Hayden
He.
Jarvis Landry
He needs somebody to help him develop and understand how to. How to. How to game work how to process. Go ahead, Go ahead, Debo. I'm sorry.
Joe Hayden
That's the big thing that a lot of coaches. What? Oh, head coaches. I'll say a lot of head coaches don't realize, especially guys that just want to run things by themselves their way, no matter what. And they just put people in position that's just going to run with whatever it is they say. You got to have somebody at every position that you hire that can actually develop your talent. I don't care if you're in year four, five, six, seven. I should be able to get a nugget from this coach that's going to help me develop. Rather, it's something in the playbook because I'm young and then learning and understanding that. It ain't just about knowing what you're doing now, son. You need to know what the person beside you. And as you learn that, you need to go further and further down the line so that you can better help yourself, help your teammates. Because if you got curl flat, there's no need for you to sit out there, drop and dig your ass 15, 17 yards deep. Because he probably got a deep crusher coming over over there somewhere. Like, you can better or squeeze in, you can better help narrow down the zone for the other players in there. And if your coach is not giving you any type of nuggets like that, especially as you get older, you don't really need to know more. But you know, year after year, as I got in, I'm trying to learn more of what everybody else is doing and my coach is still continually helping me get. Oh, man, did you ever think about this or that? So hiring people who can actually do the job individually on the basis of, hey, you're a linebacker coach. Go and linebacker coach, develop these dudes. You're the DB coach, you're the corner coach, you're the safety guy. Like Joe, when you were in Pittsburgh, tell me how much that, you know, Lake helped, bro.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Helping me tremendously. Because, you know, the one thing was all I need is nuggets, you know what I'm saying? Alignment assignment technique. But when we going into these games, give me something like when this dude, this is like a 90 percenters when they run these plays on third and threes. When you see this split, you gonna get this, you know what I'm saying? Study it up, you know what I'm saying? Give me some real stuff that's gonna help me in the game. Don't just have me out there playing blind. So, like that, that was one big thing. Like those are some things that the good coaches do.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah. And I think it's one of those things, and we talked about it on our show, Joe, where, you know, I think it's one of those things that coaches sometime like they either overcomplicate something for no reason. Right. Or they don't know enough about the position because they were hired by their friend. Yeah. And. And to get in the door. And now we're in this room that we don't really probably shouldn't be in.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah.
Joe Hayden
Can't say nothing in because hey, I hired you when nobody else would have hired you. They wouldn't even thought of you. I put you in here. So what you look like voicing your opinion against me about something. I'm saying that shows no appreciation to them. To them. But for me, I'm trying to be maybe middle ground, smartest person in the room. I want to be the least hands on coach ever. I'm going to hire everybody at every position that makes it so that I don't have to do nothing but go to them and they'll give me their expertise at corner safety, linebacker, whatever that position may be. And I am head coaching. I am managing.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You're delegating.
Joe Hayden
I'm delegating everything, period.
Jarvis Landry
And I think, and I think sometimes, you know, especially in Cleveland. We were talking about Cleveland. Right. And maybe we'll see now that we see in turnover happening more. A lot of young coaches being hired. A lot of the old faces of the game that we've, we grew up through. Right. Or leaving it, not leaving the game, but being pushed out by these younger coaches. I feel like every year is a, another young hire. Being the youngest coach ever. This. You know what I mean? Yeah. And I think a lot of it, you know, has to do with this, this culture of coaching where, you know, this guy gets hired, he brings in his friend next year, his friend. Get it. Like, like for instance, bro. And I know I might be a little bit out of topic, but like where. How's blonde Flores not up for a job.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Brian Flores. Yeah.
Joe Hayden
How.
Jarvis Landry
How is, how is, how is, how is. Oh man, I forgot my other guy name.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Damn.
Jarvis Landry
But, but how, how, how, how is these guys defensive coach? This man in Minnesota defense balling.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah. You know what it is? Relationships.
Joe Hayden
That's the thing, dude. Like it's a, it's a lot of, it's a lot of relationship things and then making sure that needs to be talked about more. What you're looking at is what it is. You know what I'm saying, like, it's family hires. It's. It's, you know, oh, you were my old coach from here. Hire all that. But it's very few people who are willing to go in there and be like, you know what? I'm gonna hire the best person at this position that I feel like I could get because it's going to take away credibility from me. It's a lot of coaches that have ego so much, especially head coaches. I don't fought this long to get this job. And I'm going to be honest with you. Like. Like, as you talk about Flores, that was one of the things, like when he went to Miami, even though it was a whole situation that happened behind that, it was a lot of players that said he had a big ego once he got there, they were like, dude, the dude that you met or I met in. In New England, they're like, dude, that's not the cat that we seeing right now.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, yeah.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You know, Flores, he. They. He got that.
Jarvis Landry
He fenced still top 10.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, but. But it's. It's, you know, it's. It's a little different when, you know, you're.
Commercial/Ad Voice
You.
Joe Hayden
You're communicating to me as if I'm 12. You see what I'm saying? Versus you're communicating to me like some people are in the position of a. When I'm not the top dog, I'm very cordial, I'm communicative. I'm very respectful. Now you put me top dog and everybody below me got an answer to me that might change my opinion, that might change the way I'm talking, especially if I'm a person that wanted to be in that position. You crazy. You ain't gonna tell me nothing. I can't. I can't. I can't listen to hear nothing you said. And I done gave you this job when you would have never had that chance. Come on, bro. You supposed to be yes man.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
You.
Joe Hayden
You a yes man. I don't hire.
Jarvis Landry
No accountability.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
No accountability. Yeah. You gotta have somebody to tell you when you're doing wrong.
Jarvis Landry
No, heard that. Heard that, man. I love that. I love that little topic right there.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
No, for sure.
Jarvis Landry
I love, man, I love that. That's the type of. That's the type of stuff, man, where, like, you know, I sit back and I watch espn, I watch transactions. Things happen throughout. You know what I mean? And some of these things are lost conversations, and some of these things are just like my dumbass opinion, right? Of like, how I feel looking at it or knowing a person and then going into another situation. How you leave a one job and you hired the next day when you ain't really had no success over here. Like, all of that stuff, to me, is. Is very confusing. I know it's a lot of people out there as well. But, you know, again, like I say, I love that topic. I love. I love talking about that, that.
Joe Hayden
That lsu, Lane Kiffin. What do you think?
Jarvis Landry
Love it. I'm happy it happened, bro. It's what the city needed. It's what the school needed. Like, and I love to see, like, guys like Verge, Osbury, who's, you know, who's like, the president of. The athletic director, the president. All those guys, the whole city coming behind, selecting a coach that they know is coming to win. I mean, I love that.
Commercial/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Jarvis Landry
And Lane Kiffin. Love Louisiana, man. Like, big Louisiana guy. This.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
This one pissed me off. Honestly, Debo, I ain't gonna lie. Cause I was between. It was between LSU and Florida, so I'm glad we got our coach. And then, I ain't gonna lie. I was. I was recruiting Kiffin. I wanted Kiffin bad, just because he's hip. He's hip. He's what we need. He's gonna be able to recruit. He's able to bring in the talent. He's gonna get the money. Like, he's what college football needs, man. So I want to. Kiffin Bass, lsu, man. I know y' all got a good one right now.
Jarvis Landry
We excited. We excited, bro. I can't wait to see. I can't wait to see how you're using the receivers. I can't wait to see how you could keep bringing more players in and players actually, like, want to play for this guy. You know what I'm saying? Like, you could sense it. You could see it. You could feel it, right? He not just, like, a presence. You know what I'm saying? Go ahead.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
But I gotta ask you, bro, who is what? Y' all got? Y' all got the. Y' all got the rapper on y' all's team right now, too.
Jarvis Landry
Oh, Toosie.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Y' all got 2C out there.
Jarvis Landry
We got even rappers who want to play at lsu, bro. Like, you feel me?
Joe Hayden
Like, man, Rappers want to play.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Is he on the heat, bro? That's what I'm saying, though.
Jarvis Landry
I think he walked on. I think he walked on, though.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
He has to, because we had. It's a lot of players. There's a lot of players. You know what I'm saying? I'm just saying there's no.
Jarvis Landry
He.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
He's not gonna be. He's not gonna be a wide receiver. Lsu.
Joe Hayden
I.
Jarvis Landry
Listen. I don't know. You don't know. You never know. You know, We. We. We. We receiver you, bro. We develop. We develop receivers every day.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
If y' all develop Toosie and he goes to the league, bro. Lsu, y', all.
Joe Hayden
Y'.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
All.
Jarvis Landry
And then we can finally get stamped.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I'm sending my kids there instantly. I don't care.
Jarvis Landry
Like, he. Like, bro.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
He wasn't. He wasn't five star like you.
Joe Hayden
He's not.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
No. That's crazy.
Jarvis Landry
Hey, you never know.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Yeah, that's a little different.
Joe Hayden
Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like, y'. All. Y' all grabbing foes and fives and, you know, that, you know, development over 4, 5. All you gotta do is point.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
Whoever LSU wise receiver coach this man go league. He needs to be a head coach somewhere.
Jarvis Landry
No, for sure, for sure. Listen, it's not. It's not that. It's not possible.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
No, no, no. That's. You know, it's in the realm.
Jarvis Landry
Yeah, we gonna find out. We're gonna. We definitely gonna find out.
Commercial/Ad Voice
Yeah.
Joe Hayden
Everything in the realm of possibilities. You know what I'm saying? Like, anything.
Co-host (possibly Joe or Debo's co-host)
I got another one.
Joe Hayden
I don't know about that.
