Joe Hayden
Doing great brother. Debo. Another good day. Another blessed day. Be on the pod, chop it up. Talk this good ball with my good man.
James Debo Harrison
Yes sir. Yes sir. Definitely. Definitely brother. Before we get started, we're actually going to talk about the possibility of Russell Wilson. They said immersion as one of the people that could end up going to Kansas City. But looking right now letting us know. Yeah, they just, they just got some, some breaking news right here that Justin Fields looks like he's going to be there. Adam Scheffner said Trader the New York J. The New York jets, sorry are finalizing a deal that will send Justin Fields to Kansas City pending a physical per ESPN sources. Other teams that were in. It was other thing. Other teams that were interested but Fields preferred preference was to go to Kansas City.
Joe Hayden
Yes. Yeah, that would be, that would smart man Debo.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah, that would definitely be my, my preference too. And I really didn't think it was nowhere that Russell would actually be going just because I didn't, I didn't think that was something that they would personally want to do. And when you looked at everybody that was out there, I think the only thing that would be, you know, close to it looking for somebody with veteran leadership would probably be Kirk Cousins. But I don't see him accepting a short deal to go there and basically just, you know, line up to I do now to be the backup because I mean for Justin Fields this, this could be a great opportunity for him for sure.
Joe Hayden
Anybody that's in that position that's a quarterback. That's like. Because nobody really knows if you're a starter, backup, you're trying to figure, you're trying to still get yourself right. Patrick McHolmes is going to come back there. You. You're trying to go to a team that's established. They got Andy Reid, they have great coaching. So if you want to be able to get your last draw, like, he had his chance. We came from New York, then went to Pittsburgh then, you know what I'm saying? Different situations. If I'm a quarterback, I'm trying to go to the best situation possible to show that I still got it. You know what I'm saying? It's not me, you know what I'm saying? Get to a system where if you don't succeed with the Chiefs, Justin Fields, it's not that it's the kind of like, then it's not looking good for you. Do you know what I'm saying? So if I'm. If I'm him, I'm super excited. I'm trying to get there to Kansas City because you got people working around you. It's not just. They're not just trying to put it all on you. Andy Reid is moving and shaking the offense. There's going to be moving parts. People are going to be going in motions. So it's great quarterback spot to be for if somebody's in a situation like him, I'm super excited for him because they was talking about Russell Wilson with the Chiefs. They know they got Patrick Mahomes. They just need somebody to come in there and steady the ship just for a little bit. Just don't come out here, don't try to go crazy. Don't mess nothing up. We're the Chiefs, we're good. Patrick Mahomes is on the way. You just come out here and don't do nothing crazy. We just went and got you a running back, too, Kendall Walker. So we're gonna, you know what I'm saying? We're trying to get the ground game right. We're not going to have you out here just trying to sling it all around. We know you're not Patrick Mahomes. So I like it for the Chiefs, I like it for Justin Fields because his situation, you need to get to a team that, you know, I'm saying, makes you look good, makes that where this is your. This is your hurrah, you know what I'm saying? People are always. You're bouncing around. We don't know. So this is the best situation. I think for him to be able to be like, all right, bet, like this is my last hurrah.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah, but for me, I don't know. I don't know why that would be like his. I mean, I don't know who the other teams were, so I couldn't say exactly. But for me it's like, okay, I'm going to go here and take what it's going to end up being a backup position and depending on if he signs a year or more, you know, whatever that term of that contract is, it's going to be as a backup. So you necessarily going there to show and then be able to leave only works if it's a, if it's a year deal. I mean, I'm hoping that's what the case is. But if it's not, then you're just going there to sit there and, you know, primarily just back up Patrick Mahomes and you basically done gave up, you know, your right to just go and fight for a starting position.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, but what, what, what else are his options? Nobody's beating down Justin Field's door in my opinion. So for me, I'm just, if I'm him, I'm trying to get on the team that I know maybe Patrick, Patrick Mahomes is going to come back. But the Kansas City Chiefs, the organization, the spot, being able to show people like just trying to put my best foot forward, I want to get on the team that already got kind of wheels rolling, you know what I'm saying? I'm just a piece of the puzzle showing dudes like, I'm just not, I'm not going to bring down your team. So I think for him it's like, I can come here, still show people that I can be a starting quarterback. It's not my fault. So I'm hearing you with the one year deal backup, but I'm like, nobody's beating down Justin Fields door to be their starting quarterback somewhere.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah, yeah, I understand what you're saying. I just, that that was, you know, really my only thought or, or, or concern about it.
Joe Hayden
No, I feel you then.
James Debo Harrison
I feel you.
Joe Hayden
Because if you, if you, you're trying to go get a starting job, no Patrick Mahomes coming back, I'm not starting here. So.
James Debo Harrison
Well, we'll see if it's a year deal then, yeah, it could be a possibility of something, him going out there saying, okay, look, I played great. This is what I could do. When you put me in something that you know is, is designed for me. It's a, it's a. It's a. Is a good players. When you put me in something like this right here, this is what I'm able to do. Like I said, if that's a year deal and he goes out there and he balls out, then, yeah, it could be a possibility of something where next year he could be going somewhere else and possibly have a chance to fight for a starting position.
Spreaker Announcer
That's.
James Debo Harrison
I mean, if it ends up being a year deal, then, yeah, I would. I would change my opinion or thought process.
Joe Hayden
I think you got a good thought process because you're trying to think Justin Fields wants to continue. If you want to continue to be a starting quarterback, you're not going to be the future starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. So if that's the long term, like, that's not the spot that you would want him to go. You know what I'm saying? So I'm with you on that. Yeah. Yeah.
James Debo Harrison
But I guess ESPN said the Steelers offseason moves hint at McCarthy's offensive plan.
Joe Hayden
Yes. Hint.
James Debo Harrison
What you mean, hint? What did I tell y' all Tuesday? Y' all talking about a hint like, Joe, what did I say last week as soon as we signed Rico Dowdle? Joe, what did I say? Joe, I said that's. That. That ain't no hint. That was a statement. We are dedicating to running the ball. Okay? Getting back to Steeler football. And just as boy, was it Michael Pittman, when he was on the Pat McAfee show, that man said, yo, about his conversation with Mike McCarthy. He said he got him fired up. He said he feel like Pittsburgh is his style of football. What style is that? Smash mouth. Gritty. And he feels like he fits.
Joe Hayden
Yes, he does.
James Debo Harrison
Okay.
Joe Hayden
Yes.
James Debo Harrison
Do you know what this reminds me of?
Joe Hayden
What does this remind you of, brother Debo?
James Debo Harrison
This reminds me of back when Ben first came in. We had a strong running game with Bussy Willie Parker. We run, run, run. They say, oh, they running on us. Eight, nine in the box. Boom. And then we bomb on it. Now, the hint, the hint was when we picked up Pittman Jr. Okay, that's a guy that could actually catch the ball very good. You know what I'm saying? And anything you throw to him, he go do it. And he did. But the hint was he liked to get physical. Okay? The boy liked the block. He liked the dirty part of his job.
Joe Hayden
We're gonna need all that.
James Debo Harrison
Okay? Now right there, you got another receiver in DK that like to do the
Joe Hayden
same, like to get real physical.
James Debo Harrison
Hey, what? What, Rico Rico said that Mike McCarthy, he wants to establish everything at the line of scrimmage and do it successfully. The run game, that's where you start with the line of scrimmage, the run game, you know what that do when you're successful. That lead the team stacking the box and now they giving you the one on ones with dk. And the added advantage of that, we got tight ends, we got fry moves in Washington, both good blocking tight ends that can catch the ball.
Joe Hayden
Yes.
James Debo Harrison
Though I'm a little excited about what we can look like if we can get that done, do it successfully.
Joe Hayden
That takes a whole lot of pressure
James Debo Harrison
off of the quarterback position. And if Will Howard is our guy, that's a great position for him to be in as a young, just as it was for Ben when he started his career. I know ain't no decision on Aaron Rodgers right now, but he's not playing for Aaron Rodgers to have to make his decision. He's building this team for the future. And while we wait on Roger to see if he go either play or retire, we still are building towards the future and preparing so that we could do it either way. Rather it's Will going in there finding out if he can do it and if he can't, it's always next year where we could go and pick up a quarterback. Joe, what do you think?
Joe Hayden
I think you are preaching the gospel right now, Debo, because actions speak louder than words.
James Debo Harrison
Who.
Joe Hayden
Who were we going to go get? Who are we going to go out there and get? During free agency, what we needed was a receiver. We went and got that big physical Michael Pittman Jr. What we said we needed was another running back because we lost Gainwell, we got Dottam. What we needed was another cornerback opposite Peezy. We got that. So what he's doing is he's making. He's letting us know right now the quarterback wasn't what I think that we needed right now on our roster. We have Will Howard, we have Mason Rudolph. We're waiting for Aaron Rodgers. We're chilling and seeing what's going on. But right now in my room there was Malik Willis out there and do y'. All. We could have. Okay, everybody could say that. But the other quarterbacks out there, it was Kyler Murray, you know what I'm saying? Tua Geno Smith, you know what I'm saying? And now there's Kirk Cousins still out there that's chilling. So he's like, would you want me to go jump and get one of these quarterbacks? Where back in the day in free agency, we went and got Mitch Trubisky. We signed Justin Fields, you know what I'm saying? We signed Russell Wilson as like, quarterbacks to come in. Like, that's just, that's not going to change the needle. We would just be bringing in another guy, you know what I'm saying? So it would just be status quo. So right now what he's saying is, I'm not just going to go do that right now. I have Will Howard. He's been the backup quarterback last year under Aaron Rodgers. Watched him, seen what was going on. He was hurt. So that was a year under his belt to be able to. He just didn't have to come to come in and play his rookie season. Like, maybe it takes him a little bit of time, understand the game. Chilling, just the flow, the vibe, the locker room, how the NFL works. So McCarthy's here. Oh, I like Will. We gonna have a chance to really go in here.

What's up?
Joe Hayden
What's up? It's Questlove. So recently I had the incredible opportunity to have a real conversation with actress and producer Jamie Lee Curtis ahead of the release of her new thriller series Scarpetta. I can honestly say I've never done an interview like that before. Before. You know, at one point I shut my laptop down and we just started chatting as old friends. Recent Oscar recipient. So we have some commonality there. I predicted that, by the way.

Why hasn't a woman formally participated in a Formula One race weekend in over a decade? Think about how many skills they have to develop at such a young age. What can we learn from all of the new F1 romance novels suddenly popping up every year? He still smelled of podium champagne and expensive friction. And how did a 2023 event called Wagageddon change the paddock forever? That day is just seared into my memory. I'm culture writer and F1 expert Lily Herman, and these are just a few of the questions I'm tackling on no Grip, a Formula One culture podcast that dives into the underexplored pockets of the sport. In each episode, a different guest and I will go deeper into the wacky mishaps, scandals and sagas, both on the track and far away from it, that have made F1 a delightful, decadent dumpster fire for more than 75 years. with this big dude that's learned the game a year, he's not a rookie again, he's a second year. You know what I'm saying? Drafted player from Ohio State. He played in big games. So I like him as the quarterback. I don't. I like him more than I want to bring in the TUA or I want to bring in a Kyler Murray or sign a malik willis for 20 some million dollars a year. You know what I'm saying? The draft is still there. There's still Kirk Cousins sitting there for the loaf of backup. But like. And when you say that about Kirk, Kirk gotta take the little deal. Gino's taking the 3.3 from, from, from wherever he signed that. I forgot who Geno Smith just signed with, but he's taking 3.3 million. So like these veteran older dudes like that, like that. There's not too many dudes out there. We got Mason, we got Will. So I'm saying actions be louder than words. He went and got what we needed. Receiver, running back. We're going to run the ball. We're going to be physical. Okay. That's going to protect a quarterback and he's not going to have to be my man, Josh Allen, you know what I'm saying? He's not going to have to come do too much. He's going to have to just be out there not making mistakes. Hand the ball off. We're going to keep it the down and distance. We want to stay ahead of the sticks. Third and short, third and threes, third and fours, way easier than third and nines. So we're just going to be consistent with that Defense lock up. We got ballers here. This the spots that we got, like, you know what I'm saying? Joey Porter Jr. You're going to have to stand up. Obviously your baller, Sean, standing up. TJ Stand up. All of the players that we have, stand up. You know what I'm saying? So I'm looking at it. We still got time, we still got draft picks to get stuff there. But I'm like, I'm not in a rush. What are we. What are we. What are we rushing for? We got. I believe if what McCarthy feels that he's not making a move and not doing. He did make moves. We're just not making the certain moves that y' all feel like, oh, no, we need a quarterback. So they're not making moves. No. Making plenty of moves. Making the right moves, educated moves, moves that he believes in. Not crazy, just jumping out for no reason. So that's how I feel about it. And yeah, I think the Steelers are doing great and not. We're going to be solid. Yeah.
James Debo Harrison
Plus, you know, Mike McCarthy said that he Likes, you know, he, he was, he was impressed with him. I have, obviously, what he did at oh, State. So from there, you know, yeah, we're waiting on, you know, Roger, so to speak. But, you know, depending on how long that wait is, you know, they let Will get in there. You get through OTAs, you do some of that stuff like that. And now is that a situation where, yo, they don't see what they seen in OTAs? Rogers decides that he wants to come back or he's willing to come back, but now is that a position where we're like, okay, you can come back, but it's a backup? I don't see him coming back as a backup. I don't. I don't see that happening, especially if they done went through a process and they done. You know what I'm saying? So I like what he's doing. I'm cool with everything that he's doing. And especially just like, you know what, we got this dude here. I like him. I liked him in all state. I'm gonna go with him. I'm gonna give him opportunity. From everything that he said, it sounds like he's going to give him an opportunity. So I'm all game with it, going with it and running with it and just seeing where it is because we're still building everything to where we'll have everything in place except for the quarterback. If that's. If it doesn't work out in our vote.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, and if he don't hit, then we're. We still got players at all the other positions, so we, we know we need. We need a quarterback. We need to address that. But you don't know what you don't know. So you got to let him play and then we'll know.
James Debo Harrison
No question, brother. No question. Kenneth Gainwell admitted that the Steelers weren't his first choice. Gainwell addressed the media as a member of the Bucks. He admitted he had hoped that he would have signed with the Buccaneers last season over the Steeler. He said it was a great opportunity for me. I wanted to be here last year, but, you know, I'm just happy to be here now. It was a great opportunity for me back in. To be back in the South. I'm from here and. Cool. What do you. You got any issues with this? I. I mean, what do you think of this, this statement? You think you're throwing any slack? Think you're throwing any shade, brother?
Joe Hayden
Debo no, no, I think he's being honest. And that's what happens when you ask people questions. They're gonna give you an honest answer. You know, I don't think it has to do with any shit. He also said he appreciates, you know what I'm saying, the time in Pittsburgh, he was able to let him show his talents, show his skills, you know what I'm saying? So if you just put in a certain quote, want to go back to the south, say he played with Philly, you know what I'm saying? It's home. It's hot. Would you rather play in Florida than in Pittsburgh? You know what I'm saying? Like, maybe Tampa wouldn't have given them a deal, and now he was trying to get there. They got more money from Pitt.
Spreaker Announcer
Prove it.
Joe Hayden
So now he got the sign where he wants to play. So, like, if you just be honest, it wasn't my first choice. Maybe Pittsburgh, people like that. You would rather, Would you rather go to Pittsburgh or Tampa? Some people might want to go to Pittsburgh. Gainwell's more of a southern guy. He's from old, he's from old, like, from Mississippi, you know what I'm saying? So that could just be preference. So I'm not, I don't think that he's throwing shade. I just think that if people ask you a question, you're able to give an honest answer where it doesn't have to be. No. Like, it's not throwing shades of nowhere. I respect everything that happened there. He went hard. He did everything he had to do. He's not like he cut corners because he didn't like the Pittsburgh. No, he balled out. He was the offensive MVP for the team. So, like.
James Debo Harrison
No, he was the mvp, so, like, he went hard.
Joe Hayden
So right now, like, he can say that because you, you did everything you had to do. They actually. Was that your first choice? It actually wasn't my first choice. I wanted to be in Tampa, you know what I'm saying? Back home, back from the South.
James Debo Harrison
Boom.
Joe Hayden
Cool. No shade, honest answer. Thank you, Gangwell. I hope you succeed and do abundantly great. You know what I'm saying? Like, I think it's just. You ask me a question, I'm gonna give you an honest answer.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah, I, I, I ain't seeing no shade with it. Nothing, Nothing like that. I mean, man got a 2 for 14. What, you know what else you want him to say? Like, I mean, he said, you know, last year he would have, if that was on the option of one of the places he could have went or whatever, he, he would have went there. It ain't always about where you comes down to who Wants you. And if it happens to be where you want to be, good, good.
Joe Hayden
Yes.
James Debo Harrison
And if it's not, then, oh, well, you, you gotta, you gotta go ahead, get over that and, and keep moving. Be a professional.
Joe Hayden
If people, like, if they, if they put it in their perspective, Debo, if like somebody had a job too and they let left a job, you know what I'm saying? Went to another job and was asked about that when they was like, man, nah, I, I like this, you know what I'm saying? They might say some things about that job, you know what I'm saying? Like, they're actual real people that you, when you're there, worked your hardest. You never said nothing about that job. Once you get out the door, you're like, man, that John was kind of, you know what I'm saying, a little different over there.
James Debo Harrison
Look at Mike McCarthy. He was a guy that. He coached Dallas. What'd he tell you? He's always wanted to be a coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The opportunities, timing and alignment, it wasn't there. Everything fell in place and now he's right there where he's always wanted to be probably since he was. Well, since he was a kid. You know what I'm saying?
Joe Hayden
Hey, you can't make that up. He was, he's probably from the crib. You. So people like you could say there's the, the, the, the status quo answers, the politically corrects, but when you get down to it, it's like, like you were Pittsburgh fan. But he couldn't say that when Coach T is coaching the team.
James Debo Harrison
How you going?
Joe Hayden
You know what I'm saying? Like, you just.
James Debo Harrison
Right.
Joe Hayden
Green Bay, right? You can't, you can't even talk about them over there.
James Debo Harrison
Oh, man. Oh, man, I don't even want to talk about this. Oh, somebody, Somebody, I guess NFL analysts,
Joe Hayden
you know what, the Browns. Yep.
James Debo Harrison
No, I don't know. Why do you enjoy what.
Joe Hayden
Who.
James Debo Harrison
Why they just say NFL. You only want to put his name on it.
Joe Hayden
He put his name.
James Debo Harrison
No, he didn't. I don't want to say his name because I want to say he didn't do his name.
Joe Hayden
That's what. Because I wouldn't check that.
James Debo Harrison
I don't, I don't want to care. Joe, you want to read up on that now? How don't you? Oh, you wanna. You wanna do.
Joe Hayden
I'm all for the Steelers. When we talking about the Steelers.
James Debo Harrison
I never. For the Browns, I ain't never been. I ain't about to predicate and play. Kate.
Joe Hayden
Like I care about Okay, I understand. You only got one energy. You only got one energy. Go ahead.
James Debo Harrison
What do you think of that statement, Joe? You think that they are actually playoff caliber? Do you think that. Yes. Whatever your boy Barry Queen is doing over there, don't.
Joe Hayden
Andrew Barry. Don't disrespect that man.
James Debo Harrison
Well, I done forgot it.
Joe Hayden
I forgot his right name.
Nancy Glass
Sorry.
James Debo Harrison
GM Andrew Barry of the. Of the.
Joe Hayden
Of the Cleveland. Cleveland Browns. GM Andrew Barry. Yes. This is what I'm trying.
James Debo Harrison
And see, this is what make me so mad with you because I thought I had. And then you come on, see how you, you. You got all the Pittsburgh stuff on, but then you want to. Because we started. Look.
Joe Hayden
Cause I'm telling you, I gave you the same energy when we talking about.
James Debo Harrison
No, you don't. You know when we lost. No, I ain't gonna even say we me. You remember?
Joe Hayden
Except when we play each other. Except when we play each other. That's the only thing. When we play each other.
James Debo Harrison
Do you think the Browns are playoff caliber? Nah.
Joe Hayden
Yes, yes, yes. And this is the reason why. Listen, listen. We still the same way. I'm talking about Omar Khan cooking and doing what he has to do.
James Debo Harrison
He ain't cooking like Omar. Don't you put his name in the same.
Joe Hayden
Not yet. He's not yet. He's not yet. But that's the thing. We don't need splash yet. We just don't need splash. We need to get the right pieces. We need to sign right now. Obviously, like I said, we needed linemen, so we had to go get the Arkansas line. Right. And I think that's going to be an address. And then we still have to do more addressing the offensive line. We're probably going to get a tackle in the draft and who's the offensive line? We need a tackle in the what Offensive line. We do have offensive line.
James Debo Harrison
Who is it?
Joe Hayden
Titus Howard that we just signed from the Texans accusation. We got Eldon Jenkins, Elton Jenkins, the center slash guard that we got from free agency from Green Bay. Okay. We signed back Tevin Jenkins, our guard and then we signed.
James Debo Harrison
You got E. Jenkins and T. Jenkins.
Joe Hayden
And then we got Zion Johnson that we signed as our for 3 year 49 million durable.
James Debo Harrison
That's the only one that's gonna be there in three years.
Joe Hayden
There you go. There you go. With that. We have the injured dejuan Jones. He hurt his acl, so he's going through. He's going through it. He should be able to play back this year, but we're going to use either. We got Our first round pick is going to be an offensive lineman and. Or wide receiver. We got two, so.
James Debo Harrison
Who told you that? Andrew?
Joe Hayden
No, I just know. I just don't even talk to you. I'm not. I'm not giving out all of our goods right now. Debo. Just relax. Just relax. Me and Andrew Barry, are we good? Okay. That's why I'm letting you know what's going on right now. We believe Andrew Barry knows we got two. We won't have to. We don't have to worry about. We don't have to worry about a quarterback right now. We have two quarterbacks that are going to be fighting for. We got desean Watson still. He's going to be on the team this season. Going against the door. It's a long year. So both of them are going.
James Debo Harrison
Dylan Gabriel ain't even there. Huh?
Joe Hayden
Not listen, he. Yes, he's there. He's there. Respectfully, he's there. But the fight is a two. Is a two dog. It's a two, two dog race and he's not. He's not in it right now.
James Debo Harrison
It's either a two dog fight or a two horse.
Joe Hayden
Two horse race. Two horse race or a two dog fight. Either one of the two. Okay, so we got that the defense.
James Debo Harrison
So you be fighting dogs.
Joe Hayden
All right, well let's change that two horse race. Okay.
James Debo Harrison
Y' all supposed to be the dog pound. Look at you getting scared. Y' all supposed to be a two dogs height. Look at you. Look at you. That's why I know Joe. You still got a lot better that browsing. You man so hesitant.
Joe Hayden
You worried about people but you're not. People love their dogs. Look at you. You would. I'm. I. People love their dogs.
James Debo Harrison
You know why I got my dog, Joe?
Joe Hayden
What?
James Debo Harrison
My dog is there to protect me. He is. He is there to give me enough time to go down there and if need be, get shot and killed so I could get to my gun and defend myself.
Joe Hayden
That's it.
James Debo Harrison
I'm gonna be hurt that he gone, but I'm gonna go ahead the next day and give me a new one, raise him right and get him to do the same thing. It's an animal. I love my animal. Okay? You understand that? But he is there for a purpose. It ain't to feed him and just say oh Google Gaga cute boy. No. When somebody running here, the alarm go off, you better bite. You better bite somebody ass.
Joe Hayden
I hear you.
James Debo Harrison
I hate alert me do something out
Joe Hayden
of his hand while he robbing my alarm dog.
James Debo Harrison
I got A security that alarm dog.
Joe Hayden
So back to my man Andrew Barry, because Andrew Barry, like I said, he
James Debo Harrison
cooking with boiling water. I'll give him that.
Joe Hayden
Like I said at the same time, we.
James Debo Harrison
We got my water.
Joe Hayden
We got our. Our defense is set, too. So don't forget now we've got. We lost. We lost D. Bush, but we signed Quincy Williams and then our. Our rookie one. Did he win defensive play a defensive rookie of the year, probably. Yeah. You already know Carson. You already know. He's not playing. So linebackers defense solid. We need to make sure that we get Shador another in Shador. He has another year of growth. Another year of growth. So I'm liking what we're doing. We need to still we haven't gone flashy. We still. If we would have got a receiver, I would have been geeked. I would have been so hyped. But I know he still knows that we need that. So we're going to get that in the draft and probably a tackle. So we do that. I'm telling you, Shador just grows. Give him another year. Coach actually believes in him. Todd Monkin actually believes in him. Shador, man, we wanted to get you when he was in the Ravens. We never. We just need. Just. Just show me that you do. You know what I'm saying? Just a little bit of respect, a
James Debo Harrison
little bit of love that when your boy Dylan Gabriel hit him with the perfect timing because he didn't take the time into what was going on over there. Ain't that what he. I think they got some. I think they got some beef in the locker room.
Joe Hayden
I hope they do. Zero beef.
James Debo Harrison
Make it up.
Joe Hayden
Zero beef. No beef.
James Debo Harrison
It ain't with Dylan Gabriel fiance was saying earlier how everybody wanted him to play over Shador.
Joe Hayden
All of that. And listen, if the dealer
James Debo Harrison
saying pillow talking.
Joe Hayden
This is what I'll tell you.
James Debo Harrison
You know, they.
Joe Hayden
This is what I'll tell you. This is what I'll tell you. It's Deshaun Watson and Shador and Shador's team right now. Deshaun has another year because my man got the 43, okay?
James Debo Harrison
Why you ain't giving no respect?
Joe Hayden
That's what I'm telling you. This is what I'm trying to tell you.
James Debo Harrison
If Put his name and say his name.
Joe Hayden
Dylan Gabriel. Dylan Gabriel's name. And if it's just because. And if it's just because you're trying to bring up this noise. Dylan Gabriel don't got to be on the team. He could slide because we're not worried about the we're not letting this third string, third string quarterback is not about to be the reason why we're tripping.
James Debo Harrison
Ain't that what they were saying about Shador? Third string quarterback ain't gonna be the reason why we need. I'll tell you this, getting all this media and that's. And that was why your boy over there, Stefanski was like, yo, I don't want this, I don't need this. It's the third string quarterback. I'm just telling you what he said. That's what he was saying. Now you're talking about. You just go, huh?
Joe Hayden
Because they didn't initially believe. You gotta initially be a believer.
James Debo Harrison
When did he start believing in who? When
Joe Hayden
he never believed.
James Debo Harrison
He still don't believe.
Joe Hayden
And that's why you can't be the coach of the team if you don't believe that your quarterback can actually do it.
James Debo Harrison
I need to talk to Monkin and ask him how he feels about his quarterback room and is there going to be.
Joe Hayden
He didn't name the starter, so I think it's gonna be a legitimate battle between.
James Debo Harrison
Everyone is considered a one and gets reps with the ones. Even Dylan Gabriel because he was a starting quarterback for you guys.
Joe Hayden
He's going to be last year, but he's going to be. If we going to have two active quarterbacks, it's going to be desean and, and, and, and Shador and Dylan's going to be on the. He's going to be inactive. That's no disrespect.
James Debo Harrison
Are you saying so?
Joe Hayden
You saying no disrespect?
James Debo Harrison
What, What Dylan Gabriel's fiance was saying about all the teammates wanting him to actually be the starter was a lie. Joe. Huh?
Joe Hayden
No, it's not dead. I don't know.
James Debo Harrison
What. Listen, it's, I'm asking you what's going on. Sounds like a lot of strike, man. I don't know. So you tell me because if that's the case and you're saying that's not it, somebody gotta be lying.
Joe Hayden
Yeah. This one, I'm telling you, there's 63 people. There's 63, there's 53. There's 53 players on the team and there's practice squad players no matter what time it is. So it could be up to what?
James Debo Harrison
63 wanted her fiance to be the starter and they were in support of that. According to her. I'm just going off what she said.
Joe Hayden
So if you're people that deal, you know, you know when you talk to your friends on the team, you know, they'd be like, nah, bro, that's supposed to be you. And then the other people.
Nancy Glass
I don't.
James Debo Harrison
I don't have friends like that that predicate and then placate in my face.
Joe Hayden
I'm gonna tell you this. I'm gonna tell you this. He's.
James Debo Harrison
He. I guess that's what y' all doing.
Joe Hayden
I don't know. These must be talking to his homeboys. That's lying.
James Debo Harrison
Okay, so it ain't. It ain't that nobody is lying as far as what was. Do you. It's just that what was said behind closed doors to try and pump up his confidence and make him feel like, yo, you still got. It was just them trying to make you feel good. That's why honesty. Honesty is nice. Honesty is nice. Lying, that's. That. That's hurtful and deceitful and wrong.
Joe Hayden
They just trying to keep. What they're gonna do is, man. No, what they're saying is, man, now keep. Man, keep going out there. Keep balling. You know what I'm saying? Keep giving your best foot forward. Don't let that stop you. And that's really what you need.
James Debo Harrison
They were saying that. They were saying they prefer him. According to his fiance, they'd prefer him over.
Joe Hayden
I don't believe that. Well, listen.
James Debo Harrison
You don't believe that that was what was reported. What are you talking about? We talked about.
Joe Hayden
That's what I'm saying. That's. That's. Listen.
James Debo Harrison
So she's lying?
Joe Hayden
Yeah, I. I don't know who she's talking to.
James Debo Harrison
Oh, you a stutter monster when you
Spreaker Announcer
don't want to answer.
Joe Hayden
I'm not going to sit up here.
James Debo Harrison
Tell me what you're thinking. If, if, if, if, if, if, if. If everything that we heard is true and what we didn't heard wasn't true and everything is supposed to be what it's gonna be, everything that was said can't be true. Somebody gotta be lying. Who you think? L.
Joe Hayden
I think Dylan might have false reported. How many teammates wanted him to be the starting quarterback to his old lady? Okay, if you got Miles Garrett in the locker room and he's the real one, he's want Shador at the end of the day, like the starters, I think Denzel Ward. I think if you would ask the people that are on the field, the starting 22 players, who wants Shador to be the starting court, I think it might be more of them are saying Shador, they. Than saying Dylan. So there might be a couple that say Dylan, but I don't think the majority for me personally would be that locker room saying, oh, I want Dylan Gabriel to be our starting quarterback instead of Shador Sanders. So I'm saying he might risk.
James Debo Harrison
Might have over exaggerated how many people
Joe Hayden
are on your side?
James Debo Harrison
What was said? How many people? She like, what's going on, babe? Why you ain't out there? He likes, no. I don't even know, man. They hating. They tripping on me, man. Everybody want me to be the starter.
Joe Hayden
Yep. That's what I'm doing.
James Debo Harrison
Regurgitating.
Joe Hayden
That's what I'm saying. You gonna go tell your lady how you feel? Like, nah, baby, I'm killing them in practice. And that Joan picked off. And then in practice we like, oh, no, that joint was picked off. And how do. How does she know the difference? She's listening to what you want. You gonna tell your lady how you feel at the crib. I'm balling now. That joint was picked off, okay? And now she's like, no, they had to work job saying, my man is hooping. Like, I don't know what y' all talking about. That's what I'm saying. So I don't want. Like, come on, Debo. You gotta pick up what I'm putting down without trying to be.
James Debo Harrison
I'm picking up what you putting down, bro. But listen, you could lie to everybody, but you can't lie to yourself. And if you good at lying to yourself, that's.
Joe Hayden
That's. That's what I'm saying. I'm not trying to put that on, but, like, yeah, if. If I would ask. Personally, I think they wanted Shador to start. So now when Dylan is saying that, that's. That's him. He feeling like. I'm like, who. Who you talking to in the locker room? You put a name on the homeboys that you was hollering at that think you should be starting, you know what I'm saying?
James Debo Harrison
Drop a name. Drop a name.
Joe Hayden
Tell me you think you should be starting. Let's go. For real. Who you show me.
James Debo Harrison
And then they went and set my man up, get his house knocked in, trying to knock his confidence.
Joe Hayden
People being foul, Debo. That's just people being foul.
James Debo Harrison
No, that's the people just trying to interact. I'm just saying Beyonce feeling. No way. He's saying this and that. I'm just saying inside job, you know what I'm saying? I'm just. Conspiracy theory. I'm not saying it happened. You know, I'm a conspiracy. And I'd like to. I like to. I Think in other spaces. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like your thought process stays to this world. Your thought process stays on Earth. Me, I think, I think universal, dude. You know what I'm saying? I'm thinking outside of the realm of the natural order of what you're used to. It's laws on earth that you can't get past.
Joe Hayden
Grabbing my mind got range.
James Debo Harrison
I mean, I'm in other galaxies.
Joe Hayden
I hear you, coach. You know I hear you.
James Debo Harrison
But the Browns stay in Cleveland. That's why they can't get nowhere.
Joe Hayden
Oh, they gonna be just. I'm telling you, we gonna be just fine. We're gonna be just fine. Not like a lot of those games. Very, very close. We could have won a lot of them. So just last minute decision. Shador still at the same time too. I'm not. He, he. He has a lot of growth that can happen. So I'm ready to see it. Ready to see. I'm ready to get him some weapons. Line run.
James Debo Harrison
Yo, how many, how many. How many more games of that 5 and 12 record, do y' all think y' all could have put in a win category?
Joe Hayden
Probably at least. We had the Minnesota game. We had the Bills game. We had a lot of games that are just. But, but that's. But that's every team. That's every team. So you know what I'm saying, Like, we could, we could easily win those games. We're not just getting blowed out and we can play better. The offense can play better. Shador can get his footwork right. They're not spinning around in the pocket. I'm not saying that he's playing already great. But now Todd Monkin, New year line, more weapons. Not. You know what I'm saying? We people were dropping passes sometimes.
James Debo Harrison
Where's the weapons? Where's the more weapons?
Joe Hayden
More weapons is all right. Jury Judy's coming back. Isaiah Bond is nice.
James Debo Harrison
Jerry Judy. Stop, stop, stop, stop. What do you do? That was weaponized last year.
Joe Hayden
This is what I'm trying to tell you. The ones who really are tight end. Our tight end, rookie Young Bull. Fofo and Judkins are running back.
James Debo Harrison
I'll give you that. I give you four.
Joe Hayden
Definitely give me four.
James Debo Harrison
You should have just one.
Joe Hayden
And you give me juggies. I'll run it back.
James Debo Harrison
I'll give you four.
Joe Hayden
Four.
James Debo Harrison
But that's something else too, because I heard, I heard, I heard a rumor through the grapevine about something that may have been said by, you know, one of the other players about Fofo and And it was. You know, and maybe it was coach, and maybe he said something and he said, I know I use tight ends, but I ain't about to use him or something like that. I don't know. I'm just thinking.
Joe Hayden
I don't know if you are just literally making it up. I know you did. You just made that up. You just made that up because you're trying to sabotage the Browns and want us to have drama that doesn't really exist. That's why you're throwing in the Dylan Gabriel stuff. That's why you're doing all of that. You're the media. You're the media. I'm not gonna let it rock. I'm not gonna let it rock. None of that. No, everybody's good. We're good over here. Juckins, you're good. Fofo. You already know what time it is. You good, man. Almost went to the Pro Bowl. So then, like I said, Isaiah Bond. Isaiah Bond went to the Pro bowl
James Debo Harrison
too, with the Pro bowl. Mean now.
Joe Hayden
All right, don't worry. Okay, Take. He hooped. So we got him. We got Isaiah Bond, deep threat. Judy going tighten up and no, because Judy got the sauce. Just. You know what I'm saying? Just got the sauce. And then we're going to get another. Now we're going to get. We know we need. We know we need more. So we're going to get some more receivers. That's why I said the receiver has to be addressed a thousand percent. But that's why now we just was. We was doing the line. We lost D. Bush. We did the linebacker. You know what I'm saying? So don't trip.
James Debo Harrison
Just. You just go talk. One of you just go keep talking when I'm trying to point out something, huh? Yeah, it's real disrespectful, Joe, you know, but hey, I wouldn't expect no less from a player that played so long in Cleveland.
Joe Hayden
How do you look? What do you think? What do you think about the Browns, though, Debo? Just. If you just being honest, I know you don't like them, but as a perspective, how. What's going on? What do you think is going on?
James Debo Harrison
I think Andrew Barry is doing enough to fill vacant spots. He is cooking chicken with boiling water, not grease. He ain't even baking. Is no seasoning. You know, when you boil, you can't get no seasoning.
Joe Hayden
I hear you. Okay, keep going, though.
James Debo Harrison
Keep going.
Joe Hayden
So he's easy. He's just cooking chicken and boiling water. Okay, now it's edible. You can eat it.
James Debo Harrison
It's gonna nourish you. That's. I'm just saying that's kind of. That's kind of what y' all doing. I mean, it ain't gonna kill you, but, you know,
Joe Hayden
it may not taste good, though.
James Debo Harrison
It may not taste good.
Joe Hayden
It's gonna get the job done. You're just eating for purpose. It don't matter what it tastes like.
James Debo Harrison
Hey, that's it. Purpose. You trying. You trying to put in calories. You probably put in protein and. And carbs. And you know what you're doing for carbs. He's just sprinkling sugar on that thing. That's it. He's just sprinkling sugar on there. Because I ain't, you know, I ain't seen nothing that was a straight. Just carb load move.
Joe Hayden
Boom.
James Debo Harrison
I ain't seen nothing that was like, ah, put me out there in the game, coach. Right now, let's go.
Joe Hayden
I think it's the. Right now, like you said, like. Okay, I respect it. I respect it because I'm saying I could say the same. Everything you're saying right there was legit.
James Debo Harrison
Okay, you can say the same about
Joe Hayden
who what you just said about saying
James Debo Harrison
what I was saying. But you. That would be a.
Joe Hayden
What you're saying about the Browns Andrew Barry, how he's cooking with a little. With some. With boiling water right now is because I could see how we didn't get any splash. Like, no great receiver, you know what I'm saying? In which we needed splash.
James Debo Harrison
We was taking a bath. We signed a DB running back and receiver.
Joe Hayden
Okay. You know, and that's why I could see where you. I could see that. Okay? So I'm just looking at. That's why I always was saying he's doing good enough. He's just trying to fill in the pieces right now. But we still have time. It's still. We still got a lot of draft picks. We still know exactly what we need. He knows what we need. So I'm just giving him time. I'm not going to overreact. So that's what I'm saying. Okay. We just chipping it. You know what I'm saying? Making sure we said it's line and it's receivers. You're trying. You're chipping in with the line right now. Okay, cool. Nothing crazy. No receivers yet. Okay. All right. But we still looking. I'm still waiting. But he knows that because he's. Because obviously the roster is still what it is. So that's why I'm saying it's. It's smooth right now. We're figuring it out. He still is not crazy. It's not like Omar Khan.
James Debo Harrison
Yo, lift your hat up a little bit so I can look in your eyes and see if you believe that
Joe Hayden
I'm a believer in what I say I'm a believer in what I say.
James Debo Harrison
Joe, man, hey, man, I love you, brother. You know what I'm saying? But I just, you know, it is what it is. So this is an I heart podcast, Guaranteed human.
