Welcome back to this episode of Debo and Joe. I'm your host, James Debo Harrison, and I'm here with my co host, Joe Hayden. Please make sure you like, subscribe and download where you get your podcast. How you doing today, Joe?
Joe Hayden
Doing great again, Debo, because you coming through again with another shirt that is not a particular color. You know what I'm saying? I'm just trying to figure out. It's teal. You coming through with this nice. Teal.
James Debo Harrison
I don't know. Listen, bro, I don't know what teal is. I don't know what teal look like, but I'm gonna tell you as base colors, because that's all I had in life was base colors. This is more of a blue than it is anything else. Now, as you look right here, okay. Here and here, where I'm in a couple spots, it looked like it might be green on camera, but I'm saying it's more blue than anything.
Joe Hayden
Okay, I can understand.
James Debo Harrison
Chat. Chat. What y' all say?
Joe Hayden
Chat.
James Debo Harrison
What color you got on, Joe?
Joe Hayden
That's what I'm trying to tell. I have on the Jamaican soccer jersey, so I have on green.
James Debo Harrison
Green.
Joe Hayden
This is green. This is black. This is red and yellow shirt, please.
James Debo Harrison
Why do you do this?
Joe Hayden
Yellow? It's a lot of colors. Yellow, green, black.
James Debo Harrison
That's goldenrod.
Joe Hayden
Okay? This is green.
James Debo Harrison
Your.
Joe Hayden
Your shirt is a mixture.
James Debo Harrison
Is gold, ain't yellow. Stop it.
Joe Hayden
Your shirt is a mixture of green and blue, and it's called teal.
James Debo Harrison
It's called golden rod. That you got on is a different.
Joe Hayden
A lot of different colors.
James Debo Harrison
I know that. I'm part Jamaican. Jamaican me mad. That's what you're doing.
Joe Hayden
You're making me mad that you don't know the difference in colors. That's a teal shirt. And I. You know, it's more blue than anything I could. Okay, it's more blue.
Podcast Host (Cino)
Thank you.
Joe Hayden
That's what you keep saying. Blue and green is teal. So it's both of them.
James Debo Harrison
You have a little bit. Blue is more blue than anything, Joe.
Joe Hayden
All right, all right, all right. My. My. Sh.
James Debo Harrison
I'm like, you just. Come on, bro. You said I. I what? I don't understand. Joe. Joe, you confusing. Matter of fact, man, let's get over here, man. They say the Steelers already boxing themselves into a corner at the combine. They said Pittsburgh is hyper focused on taking the receiver early in the draft. They said that Kevin Cobbert, I guess. Well, they believe that Kevin Coburg in 2018 through 22, he was focused on fil. Potential needs that we had. And they were. They were doing some reaching. They Named terrell Edmonds and 18, Devin Bush in 19. They actually traded a first, a second and a future third for him. Naje in 21. And then of course Kenny Pickett's in 22. So I don't. I don't know. Here's the thing, Joe. Yes, me and me. I know I know things, you know, you know how you know things that. Yeah, they just assume things. So since we're going to give all the credit of drafting players to the GM alone, let's look at Cobra's record from 2000 to say about 2014. 15. That's when it started looking like it was doing some reaching. So in that time frame of almost 15 years, he would pick best player on the board and people would be like, why are they picking that guy? That's not what we need. Because that's the best player on the board. And it was very productive. So it was very little reaching that was going on all the way up until about, like I said, 15, 16, somewhere. Somewhere around there, when you look at it. So what changed? Why would he change what he was doing for 14, 15 years that was working? Or did the power and authority to do that change? What would you think happened, Joe? What do you think is more likely?
Joe Hayden
I would think the power and authority changed.
Podcast Host (Cino)
Thank you.
James Debo Harrison
Because if you go back to 2015 again, only two of the 15 first and second rounders received long term contracts with the Steelers when that time came. So what they're doing now is called homework. People you do the interviews, they're looking at all the guys they believe can go on the first or second round, whatever that may be. And why are they so focused on this need, Joe? Here's why. Actually, I want to ask you a question.
Joe Hayden
Okay, Ask me a question.
James Debo Harrison
How many times has a lineman, offensive defensive lineman, caused division in the locker room that you know of?
Joe Hayden
No. Not to know.
James Debo Harrison
Okay. Yeah. How many times has a corner cross division in locker room? No matter of fact, let's do this. How many times has anybody that wasn't a wide receiver or a quarterback caused division in the locker room?
Joe Hayden
Yeah, that's. That's not.
James Debo Harrison
It's not that many in the NFL, is it? No. Now why are we so focused on that? Because we are looking for a receiver to come into the locker room and add to the rest. Now we've had, what is that, five receivers now that we've drafted in that time period at the position. None of them received long term deals with the Steelers and most of it was due to maturity issues. Right.
Joe Hayden
They would say it was a. Maturity issues. Yes.
James Debo Harrison
So. So what they are doing is digging in deep to the person that is the receiver that they want so that they know that you know what this is a person that fits the stellar
Joe Hayden
way, the picking up what you. Putting down the real stellar way, picking up what you.
James Debo Harrison
And they're not going to get a player and just hope, you know, he plays great, he's good, and just hope they can mold him into what it is that we need in the locker room because it hasn't worked.
Joe Hayden
I'm picking up. I'm picking up what you're putting down 1,000%. Like you said, there's dudes that are just going to be able to be performing and they ball and that's what they do and they're not really locker room guys. Like, when you're looking at a dude that's, look, I'm just going to come in here, lunch pail, do this work, work the hardest that you ever seen. Go about my business like a professional. And that's just the way I do it because that's who I am. And that's just some people that's built in them. You got to get to know him. That money's not really going to change. Like I said TJ Watt, that money's not going to change the way that he works. He's going to get that contract. He's going to be the same TJ Watt every day, making sure everybody's good teammates, boom, boom, boom. Working, grinding. It's not about the money. He's the. It just, it just comes along with it. So when you're saying that they're doing the research that's in the person. I need to know how you act like, what, what, what, what, what do you do? Or is this football? Is this going to be really a thing that I can give you this money and you were going to be able to follow you. You know what ballers you're going to be able to get away with. You're going. When you hoop, you get away with things. And that's just kind of the way when you get that second contract, when that comes up, it's like, ah, I don't know if I can do that because I've seen what he's been doing right now without the dough. I can only imagine when he gets that bag and we still need him, like. But he's. No, I'm chilling, you know what I'm saying? I'm still. That's kind of not the guy that we need. So the person that you're saying, the work hard guy, the T.J. watts, the Minka Fitzpatricks, the Cam Hayward, the ones that it doesn't matter about. I'm really trying to go hoop, you know what I'm saying? So I think what you're saying is completely right. You don't want to just get the. You want to get the best receiver, obviously, but the receiver that's good for your franchise, that's bringing that energy every single day. And it's not about the dough. And he's not just going to be doing off field things. He's not going to bring the off the field issues and doing that research and knowing the person, seeing who they hang out with, what's their crew? Do they have a crew, you know what I'm saying? Like, what do they like to do? Do they like to go out? Do they like to party? Do they like to, you know what I'm saying, do extracurricular, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's all good because now you're professional, you're a grown man, but I'm paying you that dough. So when I do that, I need to kind of know exactly the person I'm drafting. So I'm not sitting there pinning their self into a corner. I'm liking that they're doing their research and making sure that they don't pick the foggy wrong person. They pick the right guy that they're bringing into the franchise to be like, all right, look, we know we need a receiver. There's a lot of talented receivers in this draft, but the one that we want to go get is the guy for us. So I'm rocking with it.
James Debo Harrison
Oh, no question. They should be super focused. Like that's what you do. I don't see them going in there and reaching for a guy that is not first round caliber. I see them approaching it like they used to approach it. Pick the best player at that spot at that time that is on the board. So everybody just sit back, relax, watch what the Steelers do, and then you could judge it for yourself because now we're in need of a tackle, bro. Roderick Jones, he just underwent fusion of his neck for the injury. He got week 12. So, like that right there, that's going to be tricky. Yeah, he's actually. He's due this year. They have to make a decision. Yeah. Because they have to decide by May 1, I believe it is. They're going to pick that up, which guarantees him a little over 19 million in. In 2027. Yeah. And he could possibly be missing all of 26. And dude, when you get a fusion of your cervical like on your neck as an offensive lineman and you're making contact like every play, I don't think that's something at least me as a player and I'm willing to try and risk and go out there and, and come back from. I believe the last guy that had a fusion like that was. What's the dude's name, the Kevin Smith from, I think it was New England or something, 2012. And he had his cervical fusion and was medically advised that he could not return to football due to the risk. And then on top of that, what, you know, what NFL team is going to come up there and be like, hey, I'm going to go ahead and take that risk. And God forbid something happens. Like that's a lot, you know, on they play. Yeah. Which is also why the Steelers met. They ended up meeting with a few tackles in Indy too.
Joe Hayden
No, for sure. I mean all prayers and hope the best for them. But once you start talking like you said, the neck, the fusion, it's not like just a regular bone thing. So I just hope as long as if he can get medically back, I know that they're probably going to pick up that, that fifth year option because if he can play, he's a great, great player. So we don't, we wouldn't want to get rid of him. So I hope that the surgery and the doctors say that he can come back and he wants to come back and play. I hope he can get back out there because obviously we need him. He's a baller. But if he can't go, once you start talking about the neck, you know what I'm saying, that's when it gets real tricky. So obviously they want to do their due diligence and make sure that they have a backup plan. You gotta have a plan in place. There's always gonna be next man up and especially any type of injury, but especially when you're talking about the neck. But for me, I would think that they probably still pick up his fifth year option as long as the medical is still talking about that he's gonna be able to return. Cause I think he is gonna be a future player for us that could be there for a long time. But like you said, that neck, him coming back, it just gets tricky with that part. I hope that all of that, you know what I'm saying? Cause you know, that's the rest of your life, you know what I'm saying?

lineman from a fusion. Like, I'm fusing these two bones together now. With that, you get hit like he did before, that could be catastrophic. And I honestly, I don't know how many things would take that risk. You know, it's no flex there anymore. Only thing it can do is, you know, you don't. You don't sealed it here. Now all the flex is here and here. So every hit you take is just boom. It depends on you being able to take that shot. You know what I'm saying? So I Ain't gonna lie, bro. Depending on what they say, the. The chances of them picking up that option, I mean, I hate to say it, I think it's. It's going to be. It's going to be slim depending on what they see the outcome being. And then, like I said, you're talking. You're talking cervical. Like, that's. That's real. That's the most dangerous. You know, you're talking life and death there, bro.
Joe Hayden
I hear.
James Debo Harrison
I hear you. But. And.
Joe Hayden
And right now, with the way that. With the way that it's coming out and the way that they're saying it, it seems like it's not going to be as serious. So until they tell me otherwise, that I'm going just hopefully, obviously, make sure we get another tackle for up to maximum this season. I think he might miss this. If he misses this whole season, that'd be a surprise to me, too. But if he misses this whole.
James Debo Harrison
That's what I'm saying. Like, you have to make that decision in less than two. Two months.
Joe Hayden
Yeah.
James Debo Harrison
If you're going to actually say, all right, we're going to pick.
Joe Hayden
You know, we had that situation, though. Like, we. We, bro. We had Shayzir. Not to speak. Shayze. It was on the team.
James Debo Harrison
And I understand. I understand that, too. Go ahead.
Joe Hayden
I'm just saying, like, until at the same time he's going to get the surgery, you're going to give him the time to recover, drafted him. He's been a great player. We not just going to send Roderick on his way, you know what I'm saying? Like, he's done nothing on the source. I feel like, as a Steeler, they drafted him, he's done nothing wrong, but he's got hurt. So now if the surgery says that he's not able to play anymore, that's when we get into a different situation. Right now, it just seemed like he's going to be missing some time maybe in this season. If they say the complete 2026 season is out of the limits, you know what I'm saying? We don't know if you're going to be able to play football anymore, then that's when we're like, oh, okay, hold on now. You know what I'm saying? It's a different. Different tone. But right now it's like, oh, he just went and got fusion surgery. He might miss some time in 2026. We worrying about figuring out the option. I think with the Steelers, they drafted him. He's done enough in my eyes to be like, all Right. Bet we'll pick up that option. Cause it's not like they're giving him a long term extension. You're not just going to send them to another team. I think if. While he's hurt, I just think that's messed up, and I don't think the Steelers would do that to him.
James Debo Harrison
So you're saying that they would pay him knowing that he couldn't come back and just pick up his fifth year option? You got to realize Ryan was also in the middle of his contract. Ryan wasn't looking at getting picked up. Ryan wasn't looking at getting a, you know, a fifth year option. I mean, I. I think. I think you got a lot of personal feelings in it. I mean, as a, as a gm, as a business owner, you gotta, gotta, you gotta. You gotta pull that out of there.
Joe Hayden
No, I feel you.
James Debo Harrison
I feel you. For me, I would. I would have to have a deep conversation with my doctors and be like, yo, what's the likelihood?
Joe Hayden
Yeah.
James Debo Harrison
Him being able to make a full recovery. And then on top of that, yes. What is ours, that's what's our liability. If we do let him come back and something happens, that's the big thing. And if I'm bribery, I don't know if I want to take a chance. If they say, hey, you need to not do this, it's a possibility because of what you've had done. Like I say I die for this shit, but I don't really mean it.
Joe Hayden
No, for sure, we say.
James Debo Harrison
You know what I'm saying?
Joe Hayden
No, trust me, Trust me. I feel that. I'm just thinking when I'm looking at this thing right here, and it's saying that he underwent the surgery and that it's. All of this is in plans for him to try to come back. If Roderick says that he's worried about his health and he doesn't want to come back, trust me, I don't want him to play either. Like, I'm just looking at it as if he's trying to come back. The Steelers are trying to figure out what's going on. The doctors are saying he's able to come back. If I hear otherwise, Deebo, completely. Trust me, I don't want this man out there. I don't want him to literally risk his life. But I'm just saying, if the man wants to play and the man gets surgery, he goes through all the rehab and he's trying to get back because he wants to play football, I'm here for. And I'm trying to figure out that situation.
James Debo Harrison
He wants to play, but they medically say you shouldn't chance it. You're going to let him play?
Joe Hayden
No, no, no, no. Medically. I'm saying medically now.
James Debo Harrison
Okay, okay.
Joe Hayden
When he's medically cleared and all of that, medically he's able to go. That's the process that I'm so.
James Debo Harrison
Again, so you're going to sit around and wait to see if he ever gets medically cleared to then in may say I'm assigned you for 19. I mean, you kind of got to make that make sense as a gm, as an owner.
Joe Hayden
Well, yeah, I mean we would have to. Yeah, I would have to talk to the doctors and see what's going on before. Did he. When do they saying he's going to be able to. When are they saying he's ever going to be able to clinically play again?
James Debo Harrison
They said. He said. I. Well, take it back. Omar said obviously he has a significant injury. We are monitoring how he progresses. Okay. I know he's working hard. It's early in the process. There's certainly something that. That's certainly something that we're monitoring. That is what the Steelers said as they're statement on it.
Joe Hayden
Okay.
James Debo Harrison
I mean everybody want everybody to be good. You gotta have a plan B.
Joe Hayden
No, for sure. And that's 19. So remember I had Joe girl ready
James Debo Harrison
in line for you. You know what I'm saying?
Joe Hayden
No, for sure. That's 19. They might not pick that up. You ain't lie, man.
James Debo Harrison
Let's. Let's look over here and see what your boy is doing over here with the Browns, man. He said the Browns have discussed Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade from the cartons The Browns have discussed The Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade from the Cardinal.
Joe Hayden
Yeah.
James Debo Harrison
Joe. Joe, what do you think. What do you think of the possibility of this happening? I think if it could happen. What. What's the. What's the. How do you feel about it, man? What's the likelihood?
Joe Hayden
I hope. I hope it's super duper likely and I think that Andrew Berry can make it happen. We got the assets And Marvin Harrison Jr. Is the kind of receiver that I like. I love. I love him. Stays out the way.
James Debo Harrison
He has some struggle. He has some struggles.
Joe Hayden
He had a little struggles, but he overcame those struggles. He overcame those struggles. A couple drops. Like you said, he's a rookie year, Debo. Give him time. He's a grinder. Well, you know, I gotta. Hey, I gotta go against you somewhere. I know, I know, I know. He's a grinder, though. I really like him. I like his grind. I like the way he works. I like the way he stays out the way. Like you said, he did have a couple of drops early, but he was. That was young. That was young. He was his rookie year. I think he's going to be a great receiver. I love the way he goes about his business. And I think getting him on the team. Yes. He's going to help out our receiver room dramatically. And that's not the only receiver that we need. We're just. We're cooking now. We're cooking. I like him in the spot. He could be wide receiver two. Now, Judy, he would step over Judy. Judy could be wide receiver three. Now we still need one more up. We need to.
James Debo Harrison
They tried to get a dude from New Orleans, what's his name?
Joe Hayden
Olave.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah, Chris Olave, back in November at the deadline. They couldn't get it. And that's another one. They said Barry still got on this radar to see if he can make that happen Now. Hey, y' all gotta get somebody to get him the ball.
Joe Hayden
There you go.
James Debo Harrison
You know what I'm saying? Because you ain't got the line right now to block for anybody.
Joe Hayden
We're getting, we're getting. We're working on that.
James Debo Harrison
You know, I'm just saying, Joe, I mean, we just can't throw the ball if you ain't got an offensive line.
Joe Hayden
Understand? Man, we still working on it. We gonna, We. We still gonna get our line. We got to figure out what we're gonna do with Joe, my boy Joe Pantonio, trying to figure out what we're doing there. Yeah, but offensive line, like. But that's the thing. We know. We know what we need. We need line. We need to make sure we. That was crazy how we had everybody up in the air for a minute, but we're still working on getting it right. Draft picks for linemen, free agency for linemen, free agency for wideouts, free agency
James Debo Harrison
for linemen, draft picks, free agency and all that, you think?
Joe Hayden
For offensive line and for wide receivers.
James Debo Harrison
For offensive line and for wide receivers. Yes.
Joe Hayden
Yes.
James Debo Harrison
Okay. Okay. Well, tell me what you think it is. Cleveland actually got a tackle from Houston. Houston.
Joe Hayden
That's what I was telling.
James Debo Harrison
They got, they got. They got Howard. They got Howard over there in exchange for a fifth round, and he's getting a three year, 66. Sorry, 63 million extension.
Joe Hayden
Nah, he's coming off of that. I think this is his last year of that deal.
James Debo Harrison
Is it?
Joe Hayden
Yeah, yeah, sure.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah, I think.
Joe Hayden
I think so. I think so. I Know, we're not walking into the crazy big drawing like that. The crazy bruh.
James Debo Harrison
Let me check that again. I could. I could be wrong, though, but I believe they said they. They giving him an extension, though.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, they might extend them, but they could.
James Debo Harrison
I'm telling you, they said 360. I believe it was three for 66. Because last. What was this? PF? Pro Football Focus. They said they had him at a 71 and a 77. He was 17th among qualified tackles in pass blocking. 70. 71, 77.1. Sorry. And then good old.
Joe Hayden
Pff.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah. Yeah, for sure. I'm trying to tell you they're giving him money. They sent him over there. They gave up a fit for him and then Cleveland.
Joe Hayden
And he's gonna block. That's what we need. What I just tell you?
James Debo Harrison
I mean, anybody is better than what y' all got now. Cause y' all ain't got nothing, man.
Joe Hayden
Y' all watch this. Look, we already cooking. There you go. We already cooking.
James Debo Harrison
And speaking of Texas, man, Texans say they. They still back in stride after everything that happened. They said that's. That's still a guy. I mean, from 2000. What was it? 23, 20, 23, where he. He said he was a. He personally said himself that he was a top five quarterback. I think he threw for over 4, 100.
Amber Grimes
I don't.
James Debo Harrison
I don't remember how many touchdowns. I ain't got it. But since then, the next year, he was sacked, what, second most with 52. Then I believe in 25. They dropped that to maybe 23, 23 sacks. But I mean, I don't know how much it helped because he still threw for a career low just over 3, 000 yards. He did miss three games, but yards per game was 217. Career low. He's. He's actually undefeated in wild card round playoff. 806 yards passing, five touchdowns, two interceptions. And he is also 0 and 3 in divisional round playoffs with 53 cent per completion. 600 little over 600 yards, one touchdown, four interceptions. But they still got his back. They still got us back. Even the defensive lineman, what's his name, Will Anderson. After the playoff loss, he said, yo, we still got our quarterback. We behind him. We rallied behind him. We didn't get the outcome we wanted, but that's why we had an off season to get better and grow. Even. The gm, when he was asked about the possibility of trading immediately, he shut it down. He said, we're not trading our quarterback. He said he's going to be playing Quarterback for the Houston Texas in 2026. Joe, he called it moronic chatter. Moronic.
Joe Hayden
Moronic chatter.
James Debo Harrison
Moronic.
Joe Hayden
He just said he's going to be there for the near Future. He said 2026.
James Debo Harrison
Hey, hey. Yes, sir.
Joe Hayden
But when he said him in February
James Debo Harrison
about a contract extension for CJ he replied with the, the, hey, we don't talk, we don't talk publicly about contracts and anybody' situation. But hey, D said about the contract extension this off season. He was like, hey, we're, we're not getting into that right now. I don't know. I think, I think, I think we got, I think, I think we got somebody that's like, okay, I'm gonna wait and see and see how I go and work my way through. And then you got another one, the GM who probably got more on the table than the Miko because he just got there. Like, hey, no, that's, that's our guy right now. Yeah, I ain't talking contract.
Joe Hayden
I mean, that's, that's, that's what they got to do, you know, is what have you done for me lately, Debo? And I mean, this is what I'm saying. And after those games, I mean, sometimes it looks a little tricky when your defense is playing that well, you know what I'm saying? And you don't end up going. And I think C.J. stroud is a baller too. He's going to be there. He deserves to be there. He's, he's played really well. But for them to stand on the line, it's like this actually speak louder than words. Are we talking about giving this man a new deal? Are we talking about CJ Strout being the future for the Texans for the next five, or are we just talking about picking up this fifth year option? You know what I'm saying? He's definitely going to be here next season. Da, da, da. That's when you really know, like, you gonna show me how much you love me if you can put up that 200, you know what I'm saying? With 100 guaranteed, that's going to show me that you really, really are rocking with me. And I'm your real franchise quarterback.
James Debo Harrison
This.
Joe Hayden
I, I'm not mad at them because I'm looking at it. They played the defense balled out and like CJ is coming off of not doing too well in the playoffs. So, I mean, he's, he's, he's a great quarterback. So for them, I mean, they, they could do it the same way. Sam Darnold, he was with the Jets. And then he looks like a completely different person here. I'm looking at. He's young. He hasn't been in the league that long. You can give him some more time to mature. Or is it like this is the best defense that we could have possibly had? C.J. stroud, you can't. I don't know if you can be able to do it here. For me, they're giving him another year. I think C.J. stroud's going to have. He's got. He's got to go out there and ball out. You have to perform better than what you did in the playoffs last year. Consistency, not turning the ball over. You have a team that. The defense. Y' all could have won the joint. So when I'm looking at it, how can they stop?
James Debo Harrison
They could have won the joint. Dude, listen, I agree with you. Defense, his whole body work, like, over the last three years. It don't. It's not bad, but it ain't great either. 20th and QBR, ninth in passing yards. 12th with interceptions for quarterbacks with at least, what, 30 starts. And then he's tied. 14th. He has three off three. Three playoff wins, which I'm. I'm crediting that to the defense especially, you know, because he had six interceptions in the playoffs. Dude, like. And on top of that, they have to decide. Segregation in the day, integration at night.

James Debo Harrison
Then about his fifth year option on May 1st. Like, what are you gonna do, Joe? What you doing on his fifth year option? Because as soon as you do the fifth year option, you already know that's guaranteeing him something in 2027. What that is, I don't know.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, I don't know.
James Debo Harrison
Hey, and they lost the tackle.
Joe Hayden
That's what I'm saying. And not protecting them either. He looks like he about your quarterback's getting hit upside the head also. So it's not looking like it's looking tricky for the gm. It's looking tricky for CJ Because I think he's a good quarterback. But you can't go into games throwing that many interceptions and your defense is balling and lose, you know what I'm saying? So, like it just doesn't look good. And when you're walking on like, oh no, like the stats and all that stuff, it's all good. But what have you done for me lately? And that's why I think the GM isn't standing on the long term contract. Like, yes, he's going to be here for this upcoming season. So I think definitely they're going to keep him. They're going to give him the fifth year option.
James Debo Harrison
So they go keep him and not pick up the fifth, is what you're saying. Because they pick up the fifth, that means he's there 2027, whether he's playing or starting or not, it don't matter. But they guaranteeing him something for 2027, whether he's there or not.
Joe Hayden
We got to find out the numbers.
James Debo Harrison
So you're going to base it on what he, what his guarantee is in 2027. Now don't forget last year they gave up the, the other tackle. What is it? Lamar Laramie? Tunsil over there to the Commanders for a fourth rounder.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, they got to protect the quarterback. I know they're doing.
James Debo Harrison
Trying to protect him or trying to. Or trying not to protect.
Joe Hayden
I don't.
James Debo Harrison
Making these calls to give away basically would end up being like your best offensive lineman for the last two years.
Joe Hayden
Same time too, right?
James Debo Harrison
He did.
Joe Hayden
He definitely. His Joe Mixon was missing this year and his number one receiver was hurt. So that's. Give him a. Give him a little. A little leeway.
James Debo Harrison
I mean, they're trading everything away, Joe. They trade. They trade. They trading players. They trading everything away, Joe.
Joe Hayden
They trading offensive.
James Debo Harrison
One of your teammates in the trade that you was like, damn, I done missed my homeboy.
Joe Hayden
Oh, man. Well, when they didn't sign my boy TJ Ward when we was in the. When we were in Cleveland, went to Denver, left, went and win the championship. We was balling. Wanted them to resign my dog, tj. They wasn't trying to resign him. We were balling together. Went to the Pro bowl and everything and just let them slide. Yeah, man.
James Debo Harrison
They'll trade you off, man. Just like they did. Just like they did my boy. Who was it,
Joe Hayden
bro?
James Debo Harrison
See, trading my boy Dave Montgomery off. He over there. He over there now with the. With. With Houston, man. He. He said his. He said it's goodbye after they trading. He had a post. We got that post. Where is it at there? Is that it? You could barely see it. He said. He said it's hard to find the right words for goodbye like this. He continued on. And to say that Detroit has never been a location for me. It's been a community. And all of you have been more than supporters of our team. You've been. You've been. You've been a steady hands, loud cheers, honest feedback and quiet strength when I needed it most. He would later go on to finish it with. I'm beyond grateful and I will always be proud to say I was shaped by this city and you. With appreciation and respect. D. Mo. Bro. Bro. I don't think he. He knew that was coming.
Joe Hayden
No.
James Debo Harrison
No, sir. Gibbs. Hey, Gibbs. Had this on this Instagram story.
Joe Hayden
Seen it with the Sonic.
James Debo Harrison
Yes, yes, the Sonic and Knuckles.
Joe Hayden
It be like that sometimes. That league. Debo. League's cut though, bro. Super cut though. You be with you, be your man, your best man. Everything's going good. Everything smooth.
James Debo Harrison
Speaking of cutthroat, the Commanders, they released lattermore after just 11 games with the team, bro. My dude got 11 games in there. They cut him. What was it they saving? 18 and a half in. In cap without any dead money. And hell, he turning 30. You know how they be when you all, you. You turning 30, you know. You know how the NFL act about that 30 number, especially at a skill position. Yeah, that's it.
Joe Hayden
That's your. Your lit, your. Your 50. You acting. They act like you're legitimately 50.
James Debo Harrison
No question, man.
Joe Hayden
That's what happened. You better. You gotta CFF.
James Debo Harrison
Ain't helping me either, though. They gave him a. A 99 and a 90. 94th in coverage and overall defensive grade. I think he got hurt, though.
Joe Hayden
Yeah, he did.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah. Getting the commanders. Hell, they finished 28th against the pass. Yeah. I ain't gonna lie. I can't say I'm surprised after reading all that right there.
Joe Hayden
Nah, man, I know how that is, man. I'm a Lattimore baller. But when you get older in the league and soon as you start losing one, you lose a step, you get hurt, hit the ACL or something like that, and then you're in the 30s. They not trying to. They. They trying to find a way to get you. They trying to find a way to a replacement for you, coach.
James Debo Harrison
Oh, no question. Where you think he can land, though? You think he. You think he can land somewhere?
Joe Hayden
I mean, I want him to land somewhere that's probably got a nice. Like he's a. He's a good player. Good player. Somebody that doesn't have to do as much press, man, though. Like, I would want him to definitely be able to do more zones, more reading the quarterbacks more. So now I know just being able to use his brain a little bit more.
James Debo Harrison
Okay, I'm. I'm gonna go with. I'm not even gonna go with a team. I'm just gonna go with this. He's. I believe he's still like rehabbing his knee, so that's gonna be a thing. But I believe the biggest thing is going to be what number he is willing to come in and play for. Yeah, that's gonna be. That's gonna be the big issue.
Joe Hayden
They gotta start. Yeah, I mean, it's a real live thing, man. Once you start getting over that number and then you start getting hurt, they can go without. So it's more like the little, little deals. Like, do you. How much do you really want to play in the league? Or are you still trying to, you know what I'm saying, make the bag. Cause I think that's where it kind of hit me like it was, you can come over here and maybe get a little practice squad and then we can get you active. I'm like, oh, man, that's wild. You know what I'm saying? So if you really want.
James Debo Harrison
I ain't got no practice squad time left. I used all mine up, Joe.
Joe Hayden
See you all. Debo, come on, man. You, you, you. You got to be chilling now, Debo. You 40, you 47, man. You just relaxing.
James Debo Harrison
I'm.
Joe Hayden
Now I'm getting into my retirement. I'm getting into my retirement now. My hips.
James Debo Harrison
I did that one time, Joe. I came out of retirement one time.
Joe Hayden
There's no one way I can come
James Debo Harrison
out at the day one. I was ready if it. Dude, if my daddy hadn't told me, you finished you, you, you. You finish what you start, bro. I would have been like, hey, man, y' all can have this back, man.
Joe Hayden
Man,
James Debo Harrison
Joe. I was tee shot up, Joe. Two of them things that week, Joe.
Joe Hayden
Oh, my God, bruh.
James Debo Harrison
I was down so bad that.
Joe Hayden
Yeah.
James Debo Harrison
And on top of that, when I came back, it was like, oh, you go get about 15 snacks, man. It was. Gave me about 35 snaps. I'm like, oh, Lord. So, you know, I was. I was. I was. I was cooked after the game. Yes. I was super cooked, man. Bruh. Another trade rumors. We got Max Crosby, man. They say they expect Cowboys to at least kick the ties and see. See what's going on, you know, according. I guess Sports Illustrated, they said they go at least kick the ties across first. Joe, what do you think the chances two Dallas. And do you like the idea.
Joe Hayden
I like the idea of Max Crosby going to Dallas. I think it's definitely better than the Raiders. At least we know that they're going to. At least I can say this. I know Dak. I know. Ceedee. Them dudes aren't trying to lose, so I can at least say that they're going to be. He's going to be on the team that has aspirations to try to win the Super Bowl. So all the talk they've been doing, they haven't done it in forever. But he was in the Raiders and they kept him on the bench trying to lose games. So I just don't see the Cowboys doing that at least. So if I were Max Crosby, I mean, if I was Mad Max, I wouldn't. Wouldn't be mad to go to. I wouldn't be mad to get out of the Raiders for show. But then going to Dallas, knowing Dak, he's trying to win the Super Bowl. You got a franchise quarterback. You got a franchise quarterback there. If I'm Mad Max, I'm not mad at that. I'm going to Dallas. I'm getting a star, I'm getting my bag, and I'm trying to win. I'm trying to win, obviously. And I got a quarterback and an offense. I got Ceedee Lamb over there. I got George Pickens. They're trying to win. So now I'm on Mad Max. I got to turn this defense up, and I'm in that joint trying to hoop. I like that. I like that for Max Crosby.
James Debo Harrison
You know what? At first, I was like, I don't even see that happening. I just didn't see the likelihood of happening. But now I'm thinking about it. When you look at it,
Boys and Girls Podcast Host
Remember how
James Debo Harrison
we was like, yo, only way you go get somebody to give them that many first is if this is a person that could come in there and. And make such an impact that it's gonna put them in contention for Lombardi. Hey, now that I'm thinking about this, bro, they only had 35 sacks last year. That was tied for, like, 25th, 26th, 27th. Like that.
Joe Hayden
Yes.
James Debo Harrison
The worst pass defense in the NFL, over 251 yards a game. And, yes, like, the easiest way to make an impact on that is make it to where the quarterback can't hold the ball all day.
Joe Hayden
You get.
Podcast Host (Cino)
You.
Joe Hayden
Listen, just got Quinn Williams, man.
James Debo Harrison
Jerry, you might want to go do this, brother. You might want to go do this. Now. You done had a. A drought of 30 years standing in the way of you getting another Lombardi. You put Crosby over there on the edge. Ain't gonna be able to hold that ball like that. DBs ain't got to sit there and follow and chase dudes while they adjust their routes and all that. Them dudes in the run game, I believe this is that.
Amber Grimes
That.
James Debo Harrison
That spot. Hell, look what the offense is doing, man. The office has helped where they can stop somebody over there. Dak doing something crazy over there, the offense doing something crazy over there.
Joe Hayden
That's the. That's the crazy right here.
James Debo Harrison
Jerry, this could be it for you, man. This could put you back over there standing with a Lombardi at the end of the year.
Joe Hayden
Oh, man. See, that's the. The one thing is, though, Debo, is when we say this, the Cowboys have. I. I don't. It doesn't joy me. It doesn't. It doesn't make me happy when I say this, because the Cowboys got the. They got the goods. They got a quarterback. They got a. They got the receivers. They got cd. They got. Their offense is. Is Nice. The offensive line is solid. They just went and got Quinn Williams, big man in the middle. He's solid. He's really nice. Mess around. Go get Max Crosby and then you got. They got draft. Get you some corner safeties, get you some defense. Mess around. You got picks, you got money. Get you some defense.
James Debo Harrison
I can nullify.
Joe Hayden
I can make that with Sid.
James Debo Harrison
I mean, I'm sorry. I can buy that with Max. They could be another fighter with Crosby, man, I put him on the edge. You can't. You gotta take two. You need two of them now. You can't listen. I'm trying to listen, Jerry. If you don't listen to nothing else,
Joe Hayden
if you don't listen to nothing we
James Debo Harrison
say, listen to this. Max Crosby can be the guy to get you back into being them boys. Y' all might be able to beat them balls.
Joe Hayden
They owe these backs, and then they gonna. They just gonna have the defense. They're gonna have to bring some defense, dude.
James Debo Harrison
Well, how many points was the offense scoring a game, bruh? Hey, Chad, somebody tell me something about a 30, bruh. Come on. You telling me you. They give us 30, bro, we'd have been undefeated.
Joe Hayden
That's what I'm trying to tell you.
James Debo Harrison
Undefeated. 30 a game. Stop playing with them. And they got some picks from your boy going over there to Green Bay. Michael, didn't they get something from that, man?
Joe Hayden
Listen, they got. They have a lot of. They have a lot of assets. Listen, Jerry, you about to make some shape.
James Debo Harrison
Gary, listen, man.
Joe Hayden
But they gonna get. They. They tag him a man.
James Debo Harrison
Jerry. Jerry, I'm. Listen, y'. All. Y'. All tell Jerry. Any of y' all out here, who. Who are Cowboys, cowgirls, fans, whatever it is. Cowboys fans. Listen, tell Jerry show us that he care more about that football team than that oil money man, and go ahead and drop what you need to get Max Crosby on your team, man.
Joe Hayden
It's going. We gonna see.
James Debo Harrison
Go ahead.
Joe Hayden
He said he owe him. He said, I feel sorry for you guys.
James Debo Harrison
Show me.
Joe Hayden
My bad, guys. I'm gonna go ahead Mad Max. I'm gonna go ahead. Got. He got. Look, he's showing. Look. If I'm. I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan, though. If I'm a Dabbles Cowboys fan, I'm geeked. I'm happy because he brought in George Pickens. He's doing little stuff that makes it like, okay, that's a vibe. I like that you addressing things that we need. And our team is not trash. Zach is not trash. The people. I don't think People get Dak Prescott. Dak is not trash.
James Debo Harrison
Listen, Dak. Dak Dakota. Listen. I used to think Dak was just a late, late gamer because it just be up by so many. But last year he was.
Joe Hayden
Yes. Man, we watching again. He's putting the ball in good place.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah. Yeah.
Joe Hayden
He doing it all placement. Yes.
James Debo Harrison
Yeah. I ain't going. Yeah. I ain't gonna lie to you, man.

Steelers Targeting WR in the Draft:
The duo react to reports that the Steelers are zeroing in on drafting a wide receiver early, examining past tendencies and mistakes by Pittsburgh’s front office.
The Importance of Character:
Harrison and Hayden emphasize the necessity for team culture when selecting a receiver.
Debo: “How many times has anybody that wasn’t a wide receiver or a quarterback caused division in the locker room?” (07:45)
Locker room “division” usually stems from those positions, highlighting the Steelers’ need to do deep character research, not just hunt for talent.
Several young receivers didn’t get long-term deals, often due to “maturity issues.”
Joe: “You want to get the best receiver, obviously, but the receiver that’s good for your franchise… bringing that energy every day. And it’s not about the dough.” (10:49)
The hosts cite TJ Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Cam Heyward as locker room “culture” examples—guys whose work ethic and professionalism are immune to paydays.
Steelers’ Approach:
Ultimately, they advise fans to “sit back and relax”—trusting the process if the Steelers draft for culture and talent.
Timestamps: 13:37–25:29
Broderick Jones’ Status:
Jones, a key offensive lineman, recently had spinal fusion surgery—a significant concern, especially for a lineman who “makes contact every play.”
Long-term Risk vs Player Loyalty:
The hosts debate whether the Steelers should pick up his fifth-year option, balancing business and loyalty.
Joe: “If... he can play, he’s a great, great player... I hope the surgery and the doctors say he can come back.” (13:57)
The conversation turns on whether to guarantee significant money for a player whose health is in doubt. Personal feelings, they agree, must sometimes be set aside:
Notable Moment—Respect for the Human Cost:
Timestamps: 26:03–29:47
Marvin Harrison Jr. to Browns Trade Rumors:
The Browns have reportedly discussed acquiring Marvin Harrison Jr. from Arizona, which excites Joe.
Chris Olave Trade Attempt:
Browns also tried to get Chris Olave from the Saints at the deadline.
Offensive Line is Still the Issue:
Debo reminds Joe that no WRs will thrive if the Browns don’t fix their O-line issues.
Debo: “You ain’t got the line right now to block for anybody.” (27:37)
Cleveland just acquired Tytus Howard from Houston, likely with a $66 million extension forthcoming.
Timestamps: 30:00–41:24
CJ Stroud’s Mixed Results and Organizational Commitment:
Despite some playoff disappointments, the Texans are standing behind Stroud.
Debo: “Texans say they still back in Stroud after everything that happened... He personally said he was top five... next year, he was sacked... career low just over 3,000 yards.” (30:00–30:57)
The hosts examine playoff numbers, “moronic chatter” about trades, and the franchise/GM’s public support:
Joe characterizes the moment candidly:
They debate what it means when the GM supports a player but avoids contract talks, and whether the Texans’ issues stem more from lack of protection/offensive support than Stroud’s ability.
Timestamps: 42:23–47:59
NFL is a Business:
Both share personal stories of being blindsided by trades and cuts, noting the harsh business of the NFL when players get injured, age, or cost too much.
Commanders Release Lattimore:
The release of Marshon Lattimore after just 11 games illustrates how quickly things can change. The team saved $18.5 million in cap space, with Debo noting, “especially at a skill position... you turning 30, that’s it.”
Timestamps: 47:57–55:12
Rumors & Analysis:
Reports speculate that Dallas may pursue DE Max Crosby.
Defensive Impact:
Dallas’s pass rush was poor last year; Crosby could be “the guy to get you back into being them boys.”
Classic Cowboys Critique:
Both marvel at Dallas’s decades-long drought and see a bold move as the way to “be them boys” again.
Joe: “That league, Debo, league’s cut though, bro. Super cut though.” (44:13)
Debo: “If you don’t listen to nothing else… Max Crosby can be the guy to get you back into being them boys.” (52:46)
Optimism About Dak Prescott:
Both offer praise for Dak as a franchise QB who can win if the pieces fit:
The episode is candid, insightful, and peppered with good-natured ribbing and humor. Both Debo and Joe are passionate and honest about the gritty realities of the league, the nuances of team culture, and the personal stakes for players and organizations. Their camaraderie and deep NFL knowledge make even complex topics accessible and compelling for listeners.
