You know the taquero from the Bad Bunny halftime show. It was great.
Kevin Gates
It was a big moment.
Azar Faraday
It was special. And I felt like I was really representing my. My family, you know, my brand, my city.
Paul Pierce
I was representing all taqueros, not only
Kevin Gates
of, like, you know, the U.S. but

Kevin Gates
You ever thought something that somebody else spoke it?
Azar Faraday
Yes.
Kevin Gates
It's called collective consciousness. Like anything that one of us go through, we all feel it. I want it to be accepted. This is my first time saying this, but my spirit has been called to share this. I wanted to be accepted into the invisible school, the invisible school of thought, the invisible realm. Everything is energy and these things start unlocking on did it? Yeah. On my semen retention journey, she said you don't come. I was like, I don't. And then I noticed that she got upset with me. I was like, why is this such a big deal? She changed in all her energy. Cause I want it.
Paul Pierce
Are you an angel?
Kevin Gates
What?
Paul Pierce
You just said, are you an angel?
Kevin Gates
I'm the angel of filth. Certain people get in the car with me, I stay getting pulled over. When I'm by myself, I don't get pulled over. So if you hurt me, bitch, your check engine light gonna come on. But have you ever masturbated and felt guilty and shameful afterwards?
Paul Pierce
Man.
Kevin Gates
Have you ever watched porn and masturbated and celebrated another man's success? Learn to surrender Reborn again. I'm a king, I'm a God, I'm an emperor. Learn to surrender. And I'm just embracing in my new relationship love all around me. Love, love how it sounded. I'm Bryson Tiller. The way I've been feeling. The new Richard. Millie Autorari. Sorry, not sorry.
Azar Faraday
Okay.
Kevin Gates
And you can ask my team. Hey John. Do I like people? I do not like people. I don't. I don't even meet people I like often. I with you appreciate.
Paul Pierce
This is to taking over the game. All right everybody. Welcome to Truth After Dark.
Azar Faraday
Do you think that men or women are more toxic foreign. People? Welcome to another episode of the Truth After Dark. I am your host, Azar Faraday. Of course we got Paul Pierce today and we have a very special guest. Today's guest is a man who moves with purpose and speaks with power. From multi platinum hits to deep spiritual awakening awakenings. He's known for keeping it raw, real and and unapologetically honest. An Artist, a philosopher, and my personal favorite, Kevin Gates.
Kevin Gates
Thank you so much.
Azar Faraday
Of course. Thank you, Kevin.
Kevin Gates
That was a. That was a hell of an intro.
Paul Pierce
Thank you.
Kevin Gates
Thank you.
Paul Pierce
Yes, of course.
Kevin Gates
I'll take it.
Azar Faraday
Okay. I mean it. I mean it. How are you feeling tonight? You look amazing.
Kevin Gates
The suit, that's how I feel.
Azar Faraday
Okay. That's what I'm talking about. Well, we're really, really honored to have you here tonight.
Paul Pierce
Like, damn, that's dope.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, I couldn't wait to interview you. I think you're incred. And I've been watching your journey. I know Paul has as well. And we both just love you. We always see your content. We're like, damn. And to me, it hits deep because I resonate with a lot that you say. And I feel like you publicly went through a healing journey. How does that feel? Like I know that healing is not easy. So how does it feel to do it publicly?
Kevin Gates
The greatest teachers teach without teaching. And everybody on earth is connected through the collective consciousness. So if I give you an illustration for the people that's just watching, you ever thought something that somebody else spoke it?
Azar Faraday
Yes.
Kevin Gates
It's called collective conscious. Like anything that one of us go through, we all feel it. Like we always in each other's energy field all the time. So by me doing the work, that was my way of helping others. When you heal yourself, you in turn show others how to heal themselves. So this would take judgment out of it. For me. Everybody that I see, I see a different phase of my journey that I was at. So now I'm really operating out of the heart chakra. And that's just when I met with it. I never knew that it'll be. That it would have such a profound effect because I didn't go into it saying, I'm about to do this for the world to hear. I said, you know what? I'm not gonna pass no generational traumas onto my children. People always like to say generational curses. No, we have generational wisdom, we have generational blessings, generational gifts and everything. So I was breaking generational traumas. And I noticed when I started working on myself, I started seeing the change in my children without ever having a conversation.
Paul Pierce
When did it start? Like, when did you see the change? How long ago clicked, you know what I'm saying? It was like. Cuz I. I know you never see
Kevin Gates
it when you in it.
Azar Faraday
That's very true.
Paul Pierce
You never see it when you in it.
Azar Faraday
You don't hear it.
Kevin Gates
It's like when people say, you man, bro, you so amazing. D d d d d But at the end of the day you go home and live with, you know, the I call it negative selft talk. Cuz we are our own worst critics. We see the flaws before we see the perfections.
Paul Pierce
But were you dealing ourselves? Excuse me, but were you dealing like with a depression or you just had an inner look or out of body experience to where you was like something gotta change. Cause I went through that.
Kevin Gates
I never told nobody this. Well, I have spoke on it before. That's like for you to say when did it click?
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
And then you said about did I deal with depression? It's a long story, but short story long or a long story short.
Paul Pierce
We're here, we want to.
Kevin Gates
I was born gifted and I was afraid of my gift.
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Azar Faraday
Damn.
Kevin Gates
I was born gifted. You're not, you're not looked at as gifted. When you were a child, you looked at as weird and a black sheep and demonic and things of that nature. When you were a child, you're not looked at it. So your gifts are often what they call it is curtailed, it's cut short, short lived. It's never expounded upon. That's a muscle and a reflex that has never worked and you never encouraged to work that muscle. Like when my children was to tell me, daddy, I could fly. I'm about to jump off the coast. Hey, I say you start off the chair first, then the counter, then the couch. I'm not going to never tell you what you can't do. But I was born gifted, just to be honest. And sometime I would like downplay my greatness as far as spiritually, as far as my position spiritually because I would have a fear of making other people. You know, sometimes we dim our light when we're around haters. You know, we do that a lot of times we downplay it because we're around people that hate this. The essence of us just being us. They don't like it when you walk in the room. You can feel it. And I, I can say that the energy here was beautiful. I'm not trying to keep on talking, but that's a deep, very deep question. Yeah, like I did drugs and things of that nature to suppress this gift that I have because I didn't like seeing the things that I used to see.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, you is there, you believe in a higher power.
Kevin Gates
Yeah. He or she, he or she who has seen me has seen God.
Azar Faraday
Hmm.
Paul Pierce
I feel the energy and I hear
Kevin Gates
you talk about in the room.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, for sure.
Kevin Gates
It's Different.
Paul Pierce
I feel it. I'm on a path right now as we speak.
Kevin Gates
Yes sir.
Paul Pierce
And I just told you, and I told you before we started this interview that I watched a lot of your energy videos that you talk about your fasting. I just currently came off a two day fast, right. And I noticed you talked about being on a 40 plus day fast.
Kevin Gates
Yes sir. I've done that more than three times.
Paul Pierce
Like I can't even imagine this bro. Because I, I didn't do it.
Kevin Gates
I didn't do it for those reasons that you may have think all of those are benefits that come with fasting, like discernment and those things. But that's not why I did that. Why, why I wanted to be accepted is my first time saying this. But. But my spirit has been called to share this. I wanted to be accepted into the invisible school. The invisible school of thought, the invisible realm.
Azar Faraday
Can you explain what does that mean?
Kevin Gates
Is a group of is people like us all over the world. You ever walked up on somebody and they was like I didn't even see you. And then you until you made yourself known to them or you walked up on somebody, hey, such and such. And they'd be like, I didn't even see you. Well, that's because you were vibrating at such a high level that their dense frequency could not even see you. But they call it the silent workers of compassion. That's the best way to say it. But like brothers that know what I'm talking about. This brothers and sisters probably watching right now. I like I asked them, have you ever had visitation? See, I didn't get there on my first time.
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Kevin Gates
I didn't get there my second time. My older brother, he got there the first time he was accepted. But my third phase, that's when I was able to sit with the three wise men, with the teachers. When a student is ready to learn, a teacher will appear. Anybody that feel like I'm talking crazy, please don't believe me. But the one thing about me, everything that I ever said and they said I was crazy, they came back and apologized afterwards because it was the truth of the truth.
Paul Pierce
I understand you. And that's what's going to lead me to this question. And I don't know if she'll understand this, but have you ever been somewhere but wasn't there?
Kevin Gates
You talking about collective conscious? Collective conscious, okay. Have you ever felt that that's what you doing is that's extended consciousness. Okay, but can you transfer your, your physical there?
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Kevin Gates
Because every cell in your body is energy can you transfer them?
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Can you be multiple places and dimensions at one time?
Paul Pierce
He understands what I'm saying.
Azar Faraday
I get it. I study quantum physics, so I understand.
Paul Pierce
You understood what I'm saying.
Azar Faraday
I get it.
Paul Pierce
Have you ever saw somebody there but wasn't actually there?
Azar Faraday
Like, astral projecting?
Kevin Gates
That's. That's like kind of what you talking about is remote viewing.
Azar Faraday
Remote viewing.
Kevin Gates
So I sit back and see what my children doing, and I call them, hey, listen, it's time for y' all to go to bed. That's like remote viewing. That's my extended consciousness. But I'm talking about my body there. Yeah, that's another. That's another level.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, that's another level.
Kevin Gates
That's something different.
Paul Pierce
That is different. You just told me something different because I've had the consciousness there, but not actually being there. But you're saying the body there, the
Azar Faraday
remote viewing is a real thing that's powerful.
Kevin Gates
Your body is all energy. Everything is energy.
Paul Pierce
I understand everything.
Kevin Gates
Everything is energy. And these things start unlocking. Did it? Yeah. On my semen retention journey.
Azar Faraday
How long was that journey for you?
Kevin Gates
It's been going for about we. In 2025, so it's probably been going maybe six years now.
Azar Faraday
Wow. What could you say is the most powerful thing that you've gained from that? That's like a very powerful man.
Kevin Gates
I don't look at women objectively united because I could just go masturbate if I'm just. If I'm just using this woman. I could use my hand if I'm just using this woman to release semen. I never knew it was such a big deal until I don't want to say no names. I was engaging intimately. I don't like the word sex. I don't even like to have sexual conversations because people use it for clickbait. And I realized I was casting my pearls to the swing, you know what I'm saying? I was giving them a sacred knowledge that they would never even understand in their heart chakra. But anyway, when I say I was spiritually aligning myself with somebody, and she was, you don't. You don't really. She said, you don't come. I was like, I don't. And then I noticed that she got upset with me. And this was like. In the early parts of that journey, she got upset with me and was like. I was like, why is this such a big deal? She changed in all her energy because I want it. And that's when I realized the value that the life force has is so powerful. That it can create a child.
Paul Pierce
Right.
Azar Faraday
Wow, that's deep.
Paul Pierce
That's deep. I like.
Kevin Gates
And I started realizing like, why is it a problem? Yeah, like why is it a problem if I don't release? Everybody laughed at me. Everybody joked, everybody and everything when I talked about that some. Are you going to get blue balls? You're going to know. It's exercise that you could do to move the energy from the prostate all the way up the spinal cord and it can touch the crown chakra and your orgasms can stay on the inside. And it's a way greater experience than releasing because after you release you feel weak.
Paul Pierce
So what's the purpose then?
Azar Faraday
What do you mean sex?
Kevin Gates
To manifest. To manifest. It's multi purpose. It's the strongest energy. We could create a child or we can give birth to whatever we manifest in our business.
Paul Pierce
But if you're not doing it for that at the time, it's pleasure if
Azar Faraday
that's what you're just. Just for your own.
Paul Pierce
But it was.
Kevin Gates
It's not even pleasure at the end of the day. It's not even pleasure at the end of the day if you misuse the purpose of it.
Paul Pierce
Exactly right.
Kevin Gates
You didn't pray with this woman before. Y' all did that.
Paul Pierce
Exactly.
Kevin Gates
You don't even know where heaven at.
Paul Pierce
That's what I'm asking.
Kevin Gates
And she's never probably released Amrita, the golden fluid that gives immortality. It elixir of life. When they took the cells from the woman and they looked at them under the microscope, they kept on recreating and recreating and recreating. The melanated woman.
Azar Faraday
What is it called? What is that?
Kevin Gates
Amrita.
Azar Faraday
The Amrita?
Kevin Gates
Yeah. That's the golden fluid. That's the elixir of life.
Azar Faraday
And how does that remove a woman?
Paul Pierce
Every woman has this. How you all know about this girl,
Azar Faraday
I never heard of this. I never heard of this in my life. So I'm trying to get knowledge and figure it out.
Kevin Gates
It's real talk. Like that's why I'm hearing.
Azar Faraday
I want to figure it out.
Kevin Gates
When I was telling men about being honest with your woman because of her intuition. If her. The womb is his own chakra. If she's disaligned with the womb and, and herself, you gonna throw her PH levels off.
Azar Faraday
That's real for sure. That's real.
Kevin Gates
Because the intuition you already know.
Paul Pierce
Yeah,
Kevin Gates
but I don't even. I don't really be having these kind of conversations with people because it's like I'm talking to, you know, most of the time when I used to. You not doing it to me right now, big brother. And there's no disrespect to you, but I just been through the wringer with it because they would take it and use it for clickbait.
Paul Pierce
And I'm like, I'm actually just gaining knowledge right now.
Kevin Gates
But have you ever masturbated and felt guilty and shameful afterwards, man? Have you ever watched porn and masturbated and celebrated another man's success?
Paul Pierce
No.
Kevin Gates
Cause like I don't watch porn because I noticed my neural path started changing. I used to though.
Paul Pierce
I don't think I've ever been into porn.
Azar Faraday
Really?
Kevin Gates
Oh, wow, that's beautiful. I was at one time, yeah, I used to be watching porn, talking about, man, that nigga killing that whole son, you know. And I used to get. I used to sit there and masturbate and watch porn. I used to sneak and do it. Till one time this brother had told me, he say, you know that self mutilation, huh? He say, you celebrating to another, you jacking off to another man's success. Oh, it's other ways to stimulate yourself mentally. And then he started telling me about sex transmutation. Or you could take that sexual energy and channel it into your workouts, into your craft, into your music. You were traveling and channeling into whatever it is that you focused on at the time. And that's when I was like, that's crazy. Like, if you pleasure driven, you develop addictions. If you purpose driven, you develop riches. And not just with wealth of the other pocket, but of the heart, not a man.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Cause like I'm, I'm a freak for like new information. Like, I love to be stimulated mentally, right. Like, I love conversations that leave me feeling refreshed. Right. You ever had a conversation with somebody and I'm like, it's draining talking to you. It's draining being around you.
Paul Pierce
And then you didn't have conversations where it stimulate you.
Kevin Gates
It's like, yes, sir.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Paul Pierce
It's like porn. You're like, hold on, this is going crazy. I'm talking.
Kevin Gates
It's a mental safari, man.
Paul Pierce
I've had that. Yeah, I've had that with her.
Kevin Gates
It's intellectual intercourse.
Paul Pierce
Like we both conversations. So it's like, damn.
Kevin Gates
And it's beautiful.
Paul Pierce
It's like, it is beautiful.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Paul Pierce
And that's the one.
Kevin Gates
Intellectual intercourse is beautiful.
Paul Pierce
So when you like when you have that with a female, that's like a turn on, right? Or how does it.
Kevin Gates
It depends on her spirit. Like for me it Depends.
Paul Pierce
Cause that don't come around. That don't happen a lot. That's gonna happen like once every blue, blue moon to where it's gonna be a conversation. Cause most of the time I'll have a conversation with somebody and I'm just sitting there just like. It's sounding like yada, yada, yada.
Kevin Gates
You know, sometimes, you know, sometimes we not protective of our energy in the way that we should be. Because sometimes I say, excuse me, sometime I say I'm held responsible for the places that I place myself. But that's physically, right? But I've been working with this other guy. You know what the fascia is? So we've been working on like releasing like certain traumas in your fascia, like. And we've been working on that. And he's told me something that was so beautiful. He said, the physical, the mental, the spiritual is all one system. If one thing's off, everything's off. And I said, wow. And it, it intrigued me to the point I was like, I'm not overprotective of myself. Where I place myself energetically and spiritually and psychologically, I need to start being more cognitive in these areas. Physically, I know certain areas and certain places I'm not going to place myself, but it's certain place. I shouldn't even place myself energetically. I never thought all spiritually, all psychologically. And I was like, you know what? It's not cuz I feel like I'm better. It's cuz I know I am.
Paul Pierce
Are you an angel?
Kevin Gates
What?
Paul Pierce
You just said, are you an angel?
Kevin Gates
I'm the angel of Phil, the angel of fear.
Azar Faraday
You're the angel of fear? That's what.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, those who know what I'm saying. I understand exactly what you saying. Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
You understand?
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir. He who opposes us in his heart, do you let people know fear shall overtake him.
Paul Pierce
Do you let people know that? Do you tell people that?
Kevin Gates
Those who have eyes, let them see and those who have ears, let them hear. It ain't for me to put it there. They know the voice of their shepherd when I'm on location. Yes, sir. I gotta do that on that one.
Paul Pierce
Yes, sir. We speak the same language.
Kevin Gates
Nice to meet you. Yes, sir.
Azar Faraday
I love that.
Kevin Gates
I had to.
Paul Pierce
Hey. He understands. Cause I think I go through. I understand this language.
Kevin Gates
Is my mic back in the right place? Forgive me. I'm so not sorry I had understood that one.
Paul Pierce
Because this is something that's different from the world.
Kevin Gates
Signs are for the conscious mind. Yeah. It ain't for everybody to understand.
Paul Pierce
Right.
Kevin Gates
We speak a language of our own.
Paul Pierce
Yes. Go ahead, girl. This is something different. This is something different, I'm telling you.
Azar Faraday
No, I love it. And that's why I even resonated with you, because I feel like you speak. Speak a different language that most don't understand. But, like, if, you know, you know, And I don't even have to explain, you know, you know, Like, I know what I know and what I've studied and what I've went through in my journey. So I. I understand more than anyone will get. But, you know, I. I really, really feel where you be coming from. And it makes a lot of sense to me. And I think that people.
Kevin Gates
That's like. Even if you look at the negativity that spewed this way toward me, yeah, those are just agents of chaos. Without adversity, you could never reach where you trying to reach. Adversity is what builds character. So when somebody. You're projecting. Cause I don't play it safe.
Azar Faraday
Ooh.
Paul Pierce
When was the last time you've been angry?
Kevin Gates
I get angry all the time.
Paul Pierce
You get angry? Yeah. All right. So I was just telling her, like, I'm at the point of my life. I don't feel that emotion no more.
Kevin Gates
I do.
Paul Pierce
I don't feel that emotion because I'm like, somebody can say something that's hijacking. You can't. Anger is controlling.
Azar Faraday
Like, he who angers you controls.
Paul Pierce
It really is. I feel that way.
Kevin Gates
I agree. But I'mma allow myself to feel it. I'm not gonna be none.
Paul Pierce
Well, the thing is, it's, for me, like, it's not anger. You can say whatever. You can throw darts at me, you can shoot at me, you can throw tomatoes. It's a lesson in all of this for me, you know? And I'm like, it's too controlling for me to have that emotion anymore. So, like, I got kids, mothers, and they'll say some things and do some things, and if I allow that energy to come in, I'm going to react a certain way to where it's not going to be beneficial for all of us. So I don't allow that emotion no more. And I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm.
Kevin Gates
Can I show you something? Yeah. All right. I got to illustrate this the best way. Okay. Use my belt. Okay. Anything. Anything that we pull towards eventually goes away. Anything that we push away from us eventually comes towards.
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Kevin Gates
So it's about being neutral. So I tell people that, and I exhibit that all the Time. Because I like to let myself feel it. I want to feel every emotion. But I exhibit and exercise emotional intelligence.
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Kevin Gates
Having a dialogue with myself and asking, forgive me, I didn't have any other thing to use but my bill.
Paul Pierce
But if you exhibit emotional intelligence, how does. How does that allow you to get angry Quick. It's quick, though.
Kevin Gates
But I'm a chicken, okay?
Paul Pierce
It happens.
Azar Faraday
But you can have a feeling and release it. So you can. You can recognize a feeling and let it be released. Yeah.
Kevin Gates
And it's something that a lot of. A lot of, excuse me, men. Wasn't into it at one time, but I noticed that since I started my journey and I can't speak for the world. It's. No pun intended. I'm not talking about nobody. I'm direct. I'm not malicious. I'm not subliminal. I'm just noticing my circle. Like, a lot of the men that was kind of a little bit against yoga, you know, they've been doing it and they feel better now. But I have to emotionally detox every day because we take a lot. Take a lot in every day.
Azar Faraday
What do you do to emotionally detox? Like, do you have a technique or anything? A breathing. Yoga is what you do to do that breathing.
Kevin Gates
Keep me calm, but keep me grounded. And it keep me alkaline. Like we achieve alkalinity just through breathing. It's the stuff that we put in our body that makes it acidic, but, like, it's something called a pigeon pose. And that's how you release the emotions that's harbored in your hips.
Paul Pierce
So, like, with the. With the journey, as far as, like, spiritual energy and emotional. Did that. Is that, like, with everyday lifestyle as far as, like, what you eat also?
Kevin Gates
Yeah.
Paul Pierce
Did it change that, too?
Kevin Gates
That's the greatest spiritual warfare, what you put in your own mouth. Some people can't control what they put in their mouth. How you gonna control what come out it?
Azar Faraday
That's real.
Paul Pierce
That was good, right?
Azar Faraday
That was the part.
Kevin Gates
That's accountability. Ain't fussing at somebody. Yeah, that ain't accountability. Accountability is when you love somebody. I'm gonna tell you the truth, okay? I ain't gotta get loud with you and all that. I ain't about to even raise my voice. I'm not gonna even. I'm not gonna even admit that type of emotion. I'm gonna train you how to respect me with my absence. Whoever. You don't deserve to be in my prison. I'm gonna train you how to respect me with my absence.
Azar Faraday
Ooh, that Part ab.
Paul Pierce
That's that part. That's part I'm really feeling. Cause that's how I feel like I'm gonna give you this absence, absence and you gonna like it.
Kevin Gates
Makes the heart grow so much fonder.
Azar Faraday
Shoot your shot on prize fix and get $50 instantly in lineups when you play your first $5. That's right. Priority prizepix is now giving you $50 in lineups when you sign up and play your first $5. Paul Pierce
You know what? I stay rocking with basketball and my Boston squad. Jason Tatum is back. More threes, more points, more assists. More, more, more.
Azar Faraday
I am so riding with you. And to me, the best part is that I got all of my friends hooked on prize picks and now they're always hitting me up, asking me about my lineups.
Paul Pierce

So Lil Boosie recently said on, like, he was on a show or something and it's a viral clip, but he was like, I don't care what no one says. I need a woman. And he was like, I feel like men need women more than they like to admit that they do. And. And not just sexually. He was like, sometimes I just want my woman around to lay up with. He just values a woman's presence and he just feels like a woman. Just gets there, gets his shit together. Like, gets him feeling better, motivated, gets his life cracking and like just her presence alone just brings that energy. And a lot of women are like, the clip is going viral because a lot of women are like, okay, damn, we don't hear men talking like that as often anymore. What are your thoughts?
Paul Pierce
Um, you know, it's to each his own, you know. And you know, just like I think in Boosie case, you know, he getting a little older so he like, you know, he ain't doing the same things he used to do. And he like, you know, I need that, you know, I need that comfort. You know, women do bring comfort to the man when it's the right one. It depends on the woman. Like you said, it can't be any old woman just for sex and all that. It gotta be one that bring comfort, emotional stability that just uplift you, keep you motivated things in that nature. And you know, some men need that little kick in the ass, you know, from a woman. You know, sometimes men aren't self motivated and you know, get into a place in their life to where, you know, depression starts kicking in, you know, and a woman can uplift you. And I get what he's saying, you know, in a certain space in your life, you want to feel that. Because as men we don't want to be ones that's to die alone, you know, you want somebody that's going to take care of you, uplift you emotionally, physically, all of those things. So I get what he's saying, you know, and willing to provide that.
Azar Faraday
But you just think that that's an older man thing. You don't think that all men, like a lot of men feel that, of all ages.
Paul Pierce
Feel exactly what? Say it again again.
Azar Faraday
Like it's just simple like that women, prejudice.
Paul Pierce
I just don't think people need a woman. I don't think women need a man. It's a want regardless of like say if you're independent. If you're independent and you at peace with yourself. Listen, I live my whole life with my mom as a single and she didn't get married until she was like 70, you know. And so I come up to see like, damn, my mama didn't need no man.
Azar Faraday
She didn't need it. But it would have made her life easier if she would have had the household.
Paul Pierce
She wanted that.
Azar Faraday
But we're not, we're not like you're. I don't think we should fixate on the need or want. I'm just talking about. No, I'm just talking. I don't think anyone needs anything except oxygen and health.
Paul Pierce
People need that. People need A woman, people. It's hard for people to be alone. Yeah, but it really isn't for some people.
Azar Faraday
For a lot of people it's not. It's never a need.
Paul Pierce
It really is.
Azar Faraday
You can make it happen.
Paul Pierce
But the point is, it is a need. You talk to people like people need that stimulation from a woman. Men actually, like my cousin, like, he wanted and needed. Like.
Azar Faraday
But you're the one who just said you don't think anyone needs a woman or man. You know you just said that, right?
Paul Pierce
You said wanted and needed.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, you said you don't think anyone needs a woman or man.
Paul Pierce
I think women should need that people want.
Azar Faraday
So what are you saying right now? Because nothing you just said made sense.
Paul Pierce
It does make sense.
Azar Faraday
No, you just said. Do you know what you just said?
Paul Pierce
No, I know what I just said.
Azar Faraday
Okay. All right.
Paul Pierce
I know exactly what I said. Yeah.
Azar Faraday
I'm so confused.
Paul Pierce
Like, we don't need it, but we want it. But then there's some people that actually need it.
Azar Faraday
You just said you don't think anybody needs a man.
Paul Pierce
There are some people that need it.
Azar Faraday
Okay, that's what I'm saying. But that's not the question I was asking. I was just asking, do you feel like that's just an older man thing? The people who value a woman's presence? We're not talking about, like, needs or wants. We're saying he. Woosie said he values a woman's presence. He loves having a woman around because he feels like it makes his life better. He's not saying he needs it. He's just saying I value it. I feel like it makes me feel better. It makes me feel uplifted. It makes me feel like, you know, someone who's there laying up with me, like, just the, the. He said that the, the presence of a woman just makes his thought go up in his mind. And you were saying, like, yeah, I feel like an older. Older this or that's him. But I'm saying, do you not think that that's like, men of all ages can feel that way. You just think that that's just what older men feel.
Paul Pierce
Oh, that's a tough one. I mean, I think older men more than younger men. Yeah, I mean, just, you know, that's his. What he wants, that's what he feels makes him whole, you know, because when you've had it and you lost it and you ain't got it no more, it's just like, damn, I need that. I want that. You know, and that's not all men, but you know, for him, he see how he is with a woman compared to when he without a woman, and that's what makes me feel like the reason he's saying these things.
Azar Faraday
Okay, thank you to our good friends at Prize Picks, America's number one sports pick app. Use code TAD and get $50 instantly in lineups when you use your first $5.
Paul Pierce
So has that carried over into, like. So it's carried over into what you eat, who you hang around, friendships, relationships, all of that. It just carried over.
Kevin Gates
I used to overcompensate with relationships.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
And that's a form of seeking validation. I had to be honest with myself. Yeah, I used to overcompensate, but the door don't swing both ways. That's why I made that post. I was a lot of people's best friend. They just weren't mine.
Paul Pierce
Oh.
Azar Faraday
Oh, that's deep, and that's real. When you would overcompensate, what are the things you would do?
Kevin Gates
Like, I give the things that I need that I. That I wanted,
Azar Faraday
and you weren't getting them in return.
Kevin Gates
Like, hey, look, I'm gonna call y' all back. I'm about to rub her feet. I wanted these things.
Azar Faraday
You. Yeah.
Kevin Gates
I want to be loved on. I want to be nurtured. I want to be. You know what I'm saying?
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Don't just love me when Instagram on. When the camera's on, don't make it look good for the public. I need this. You know what I'm saying?
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
You know, because a lot of times we. As I can say what I want to. Yeah, we like to make it look good. You know what I'm saying? We like to make it look like it's. You know, but. But your children is a reflection of what goes on in the house behind closed doors.
Paul Pierce
You're right about.
Kevin Gates
Your children ain't together. They ain't a reflection of what you got going on. You are.
Paul Pierce
You are absolutely right about that.
Kevin Gates
But, niggas, you know, we like to make it look like every. It look good, you know, because I was a great actor at one time. You know what I'm saying? Don't never let them see you down. Don't never let them see you sweat. Don't never let them see. No, no.
Azar Faraday
Do you feel like you knew how to love but not be loved for a portion of your life?
Kevin Gates
We all go through that.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
And that came with. That came with. That came with me being on defense.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
I was defensive, and I hope this is not triggering Though. But I was sexually victimized when I was a child, so it led to me being defensive, and it also led to me exhibiting a lot of violent behavior.
Azar Faraday
I'm sorry. I went through that as well.
Kevin Gates
What you sorry for?
Azar Faraday
Well, that's tough.
Kevin Gates
It allowed me to create a space for my children now. To where? To where they can communicate with their father. They'll never go through that.
Azar Faraday
That's deep.
Paul Pierce
What type of advice?
Kevin Gates
When I talked about it on the Mike Tyson interview, they had to kind of pause the interview. And because he said that, the same thing happened to him. He was like, somebody did something to me, made me a monster. I told him, I said I wasn't. I wasn't like this at first. I say something had to happen to me to make me be like this. And I just. I just. Even my. Everybody saw it, but they didn't want to say nothing. Like, when I took Tang Soo. I don't. I don't even like to talk about, you know, where I'm skilled at, but when I would take certain martial arts, as soon as I excelled in this one, I'm on to the next one. I'm trying to be the best of the best of the best. I want to learn weaponry. I want to learn this. I built myself up so strong, and one of my senseis was telling me, I got this new exercise going to take you to the next level. He blindfolded me and laid me on the floor. He said, now get ready. We about to attack you. We about to ambush you. And I laid there, and I laid there, and I laid there and nothing happened. And I said, you know what it I surrender. He said, that's the greatest lesson I could ever teach you was how to surrender.
Paul Pierce
You gotta explain that to me. Since you laid there, we're about to attack you.
Kevin Gates
That's what they say. They say, we about to attack you. We about to ambush you. I'm blindfolded on the floor, so I couldn't even relax right. Every minute felt like an hour.
Paul Pierce
Like you just felt like it was.
Kevin Gates
I'm just waiting. I'm tense. Nothing but tense energy. And I say, you know what? I surrender. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen.
Paul Pierce
That was the lesson.
Azar Faraday
That was the lesson to surrender.
Paul Pierce
That was the lesson.
Kevin Gates
That was the lesson I had to learn to surrender.
Azar Faraday
Oh, that's a good one.
Paul Pierce
That's a good one.
Azar Faraday
Because you can walk through life tents like that.
Kevin Gates
Learn to surrender reborn again. I'm a king. I'm a God. I'm an emperor. Learn to surrender. And I'm just embracing in my new relationship. Love all around me Love eyes sounding I'm Bryson Tiller. The way I've been feeling the new Richard. Millie. I order a rari. Sorry, not sorry.
Azar Faraday
Okay.
Kevin Gates
Not a Kardashian in my villa and we not sipping coffee. You can't go shirtless. You worthless. Regardless, I got my clothes on. They be trying to take them off me.
Azar Faraday
Okay. Come on, man.
Paul Pierce
So, man, I know and I know
Kevin Gates
it just spiritually just came out. So.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, yeah, I could feel.
Azar Faraday
I love that. I could feel the energy. It's just natural and that's important.
Paul Pierce
I just want to see. Cuz your energy and spirit is amazing and I don't want to put her business out there, but she's been through a lot and she's still healing as like me and her get to know each other. Like what? I don't know if you want to tell your story because you. You've told your story.
Kevin Gates
I already knew it.
Azar Faraday
Yeah. He and. He and I have talked before too. Yeah. And I've been through a lot too. Yeah. So you know, but like when I told you sorry and I get where you're like, why are you sorry? You're right. I feel the same way. Everything I went through made me who I am. I wouldn't be right here if it wasn't for those. Those situations that, you know, I went through. I wouldn't have been able to evolve in the way. I wouldn't have tried to understand myself. If I did not go through what I went through, it would have never got me to this point. I wouldn't be here with you or you. Because the frequency I am has that I'm on attracted that it attracted us in us. If I wasn't on that vibrational level, I wouldn't even see you because I feel like I jumped frequencies when I jump. I don't even see the same people anymore, if that makes sense, you know, so.
Kevin Gates
And not that I like remember how we talked about anger and like just now when she was talking about. Cause I know you know what I'm saying? I really know. So you know, I get to holding back my tears a little bit because I'm such an introvert. I could feel other people pain. So that's why I was kind of like I had to get myself together, breathing for us. So if like this go back to the anger. If I didn't allow myself to feel anger, I wouldn't even allow myself to even feel hurt for others. So I wouldn't even be able to take a stance of support. I could support somebody energetically and empathize with that person. Now, I don't gotta allow that to bring me down because they ain't as far as long on their journey as I am, but I can empathize them and send them good energy. So like I just was telling you about emotional intelligence. I'm not gonna get lost in sadness either though, because I still got a mission. Yeah, we understand it. And I'm gonna pull you to the side later on and tell you, hey, look, hey, just know if you need a little time to get yourself together, get yourself together, but we back to this mission. We gonna transmute that energy.
Azar Faraday
That's deep.
Paul Pierce
How do you suppress the anger because you get approached.
Kevin Gates
I don't suppress it.
Azar Faraday
He just said yes. But you're asking how does he release the anger?
Paul Pierce
Because like, like, what is it?
Azar Faraday
How does it Fitness is what he's saying.
Kevin Gates
The greatest soldiers prepare for war. I think in times of peace.
Azar Faraday
I think that's what I'm trying to say. No, go ahead, go ahead.
Kevin Gates
Like if somebody come in here right now. Let me give you illustrated gay shoe a ass.
Paul Pierce
Right?
Kevin Gates
Hey, you know, I didn't like that very much.
Paul Pierce
But were you like.
Kevin Gates
I just. People be like, what would you do? I'd be like, I just don't even know what I would do. But.
Paul Pierce
Well, that's.
Kevin Gates
But you know, in my mind I'm gonna get upset later. No, what you mean in my mind? I just. You ain't gonna show it, unfortunately, if somebody gates you a bitch ass nigga.
Paul Pierce
Ah, but you ain't gonna show it then.
Kevin Gates
But you feel it.
Paul Pierce
Is that what it is?
Kevin Gates
Let me say this, Let me say one thing before we go any further.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
On a path that I've been on.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
And this existence and this path that I've been on. And I mean this with all due respect.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Some people don't have the other option. Just read between the lines. I got that other option. So when I'm talking and somebody to disrespect me, you ain't put your hands on me. And I could play it however I want to play it after this. You just won the battle that you created in your mind. I'm gonna win this war. I promise I'm gonna win. It made a best man win, and that's without due respect. And I mean that. It's not even unfortunate because I'm blessed. I'm able to move around with my woman with no security. She know what's happened with me, I ain't gotta raise my voice. You know what's up. I lead this. And if something play with you. And if something play with you, I'm a curve concrete behind you. And she noticed and she done seen this and she know what's up, right?
Paul Pierce
100%.
Kevin Gates
With all due respect, she know what's happened with me. So it's like if somebody was to just. You a ass nigga. Yeah, that'll be. But these other options that I have, it's gonna make me kind of laugh at it because I know, like, hey, I hate to say this, but with all due respect, hey, please just don't make me angry.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, what?
Kevin Gates
I'm a teddy bear.
Paul Pierce
Like, words, words, like, for me.
Kevin Gates
But they piss me off though. Sometime when I read comments on Instagram, you bitch ass. You know?
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
That shit pissed me the fuck off.
Paul Pierce
That don't piss me off. It do this one thing that can make me.
Kevin Gates
You're stronger the guy than I.
Azar Faraday
It pissed me off, but I've been
Paul Pierce
through a lot too, Kev. I've been stabbed 11 times. You know what I'm saying? I done been. And some trauma.
Kevin Gates
Yeah. That night, that knife. Different people talk. That gun. That was the last time people talk them bullets. But that knife hit different.
Paul Pierce
That's personal.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
That's up close and personal.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir, it is.
Azar Faraday
Wow.
Paul Pierce
Like, that's somebody. Like, it's easier. Like, I can shoot, but, like, when I get up on you, I ain't. I'm not. I hate you. Like, that's a real hate.
Azar Faraday
That's personal. Yeah, personal.
Paul Pierce
So, like, for me, that was the last time. I was probably angry. I was really angry. I was going through an angry.
Kevin Gates
Was you more disappointed?
Paul Pierce
I was angry.
Kevin Gates
But was it somebody close to you that you knew?
Paul Pierce
Nope.
Kevin Gates
They just came and jumped. I didn't know him.
Azar Faraday
You were in the club, right?
Paul Pierce
Some clubs, some shit popped off. You know what I'm saying?
Kevin Gates
Go fuck my bitch, man. I'm about to kill this.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, probably some stuff like that.
Paul Pierce
Probably. I don't know what the situation was.
Kevin Gates
That's what it was.
Paul Pierce
It was like, don't nothing happen for nothing. It was definitely something about a girl.
Kevin Gates
Yeah. You was in her stomach. I don't even know if you hit that bomb. You hit that bottom. And then. And then he was over there. I'm telling you what happened. And he was trying to fuck with this bitch behind you and she accidentally called him your name. I'mma kill him.
Paul Pierce
That was the last time I Was angry, though.
Kevin Gates
You applying too much pressure.
Paul Pierce
I had to see psychologists. Like, like, at this point in my life, you know, I'm older and only thing that can get me angry is the disrespect of my kids or something. A threat or something to my kids. Like, that's the only thing at this point. And I hate to give that out
Kevin Gates
on, like, for me, but I feel like that's like, for me, like I'm to a point where just don't put your hands on me. Oh, no. I'm like that. Like, that's period we men.
Paul Pierce
So as me. Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Like, the way I greeted you, like, I love to give a man they respect first. Like, even if you not getting it at the house.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
You know what I'm saying? I' ma give it to you. Even if you're a gas station worker, you a janitor, if you a man, I'm gonna greet you. Me and greet me like, I respect men. I don't respect money. So after that, what happened then? It's a game changer, right? Like at one of the hotels, I was at the. The Peninsula.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
One time, they was like, you know, I see a lot of celebrities. It was like, but you the realest person I ever met in my life. I was like, thank you.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Azar Faraday
And they see a lot at the Peninsula.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Like, all of the staff. Like, the way I'm just me and greet me, that's important.
Paul Pierce
How did you hold your anger in? I saw a clip of you. No, seriously. Cause disrespect. No, no, it's like disrespect.
Kevin Gates
If it was good, it was me. If it was bad, it wasn't me.
Paul Pierce
No. So the clip I saw was you. When you talked about when you was in the mall that time and a dude came up to you and tried to stun on you, talking about you was Lil Boosie.
Kevin Gates
Oh, yeah. I knew he was pussy.
Paul Pierce
You know what I'm saying? How did you hold your anger in? Cause me.
Kevin Gates
That ain't make me angry, though. It was a joke.
Paul Pierce
I know. You know, but you know how this new generation is and it's all about. It's disrespectful.
Kevin Gates
I don't look at that like it was. He thought he was about to play with me, but the energy that I
Paul Pierce
gave, he was like, yeah, you gave him love.
Kevin Gates
Yeah. Like, you know what I'm saying?
Paul Pierce
I couldn't exuberate that at that moment.
Kevin Gates
Yeah. He was playing.
Paul Pierce
I know, but you exuberated love in that moment.
Kevin Gates
You know, he Was a civilian, you know, he wasn't. You know what I'm saying?
Paul Pierce
You know what I'm saying?
Kevin Gates
He wasn't a Saddam.
Paul Pierce
That's tough.
Kevin Gates
I mean, I said a soldier, he wasn't a soldier. He was a civilian.
Paul Pierce
Right? He's a pawn.
Kevin Gates
You know, with all due respect, they have the right to move about the land how they want to. For me, I'm under a different set of constitutional bylaws.
Paul Pierce
Right.
Kevin Gates
You know what I'm saying?
Paul Pierce
So, you know, you was moving by yourself, and it was just. I just saw it as disrespectful, you know what I'm saying? And that's tough for me.
Kevin Gates
He checked himself, though, because body language. Body language is the loudest language.
Paul Pierce
You composed yourself, and you. You.
Kevin Gates
I ain't take that as disrespect.
Paul Pierce
Okay?
Kevin Gates
I'd have been in the studio one time, and I'm not gonna say who it was.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
But this person's no longer with us. But anyway, long story short, I was in the studio with another artist visiting an artist, and this the first time I ever spoke about this. And he was just in there. Another dude came in there, and when he came in there, I greeted him, you know? You know, and then he sat over there and told the story just loud, you know? Yeah. You know, we just beat a nigga up Kevin Gates ass. I had to compose myself, right? But in my mind, I'm like, bitch, don't you know I'm sick? Don't you know how? But in my mind, I had to compose myself. I was like, I know this bitch ass nigga. I'm just giving you a frame of reference. I had to compose myself in that situation. But I finished doing everything, and when I left, I looked him dead in his eyes and told him, I say, you have a beautiful day.
Paul Pierce
Ooh, that killed them right there. You killed them with kindness.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
You killed them with kindness, right? Cause they go, what you gotta say?
Kevin Gates
Dad's crazy. You gonna.
Paul Pierce
Cause the thing about that, they gonna feed off the negative energy. They can't feed off the positive.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, I spoke to his. To him, and the other they was with. I shook all their hands. It was nice, man. It was a pleasure. Hey, more than a pleasure. His partner was cool, though, you know, but he would just, you know, I know what it was you wanted. Some attention.
Paul Pierce
A powerful.
Kevin Gates
You want a nigga to pat you on you. Yeah. You want a nigga to pat you on your ass and tuck you in. I already know what you want.
Paul Pierce
That was powerful.
Kevin Gates
But Anyway, you know, I greeted his bitch first before I left. Hey, it was a pleasure meeting you. Told him too. All right, beloved, you have a beautiful day. Told his partner. Yeah, it's always a treat when two players meet. I'm gone is always a treat when two players meet.
Paul Pierce
That's killing with kindness right there.
Kevin Gates
Literally.
Paul Pierce
He, he, he, he. His heart dropped after he left. Yeah, I'm trying to tell.
Kevin Gates
He couldn't believe it was dropped in his ass.
Paul Pierce
Yeah. And I'm trying to tell you.
Azar Faraday
Because that's what they want. People who try to rally,
Kevin Gates
that ain't what. That ain't what they be wanting. They. They just don't be getting to pick their consequences. But that ain't what that. That ain't what they want.
Azar Faraday
What do you think they want?
Paul Pierce
They feed off of them.
Kevin Gates
Be babies. They be babies. And you know, sometime when you be around a real man, you see everything that you wish your father was. You know what I'm saying? You might have been around somebody that was verbally combative toward men. You know what I'm saying? You on them babies. You don't stop fucking with them. You teach them. If I'd have caught him in a different setting. I pulled him to the side. Hey, man, pull your pants up, man. Why you acting like that up here? Why you acting like that with me? It's not your fault what happened to you, but it ain't my motherfucking fault either. Nigga, what's hell, right? Just talk to you. What you got going on? But, you know, it was a setting to where, you know, I just had to still. You know what? I'm gonna still operate out my heart chakra. Cause I know what you need. You really need a hug. Because cats, like, make me take my belt boy out, let you cross my lap in this bitch boy. I can't be with you, bro. I'm gone. Objections.
Paul Pierce
Hey, hey, hey. Listen. Let me tell you.
Kevin Gates
I'm sticking this player on.
Paul Pierce
No, hey, cats like that feed off hate, not love. You understand?
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Paul Pierce
Because if he had a fed into the hate because of what he said.
Kevin Gates
What you mean? I ain't about to ask you all that.
Azar Faraday
That's what I'm saying.
Kevin Gates
Cause you just talking. Exactly. Hey, but I'm someone you really shouldn't put your hands on.
Paul Pierce
Exactly. But I. I'm so much of a grown up that I'm gonna give you this.
Kevin Gates
No, I'm gonna be honest. I ain't gonna stop because I gotta. I got a hands off policy.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Universal law governs all Events. And it's understood I got a hands off policy. So just make sure that this what you want. Because I'm not gonna stop. And I'm very resourceful.
Paul Pierce
I'm very resourceful, but I get it, man.
Kevin Gates
I'm not gonna stop. Because it was instilled and installed in me when they pulled me to the side. Hey, come here. Do you believe in the thing called determination? I was like, determination. Well, if you don't believe in the thing called determination, you will be exterminated. So we going to the furthest extent. We not about to play. Cause I don't play with nobody. I didn't walk out my house and say, I'm about to play with somebody today. I don't bother people. I don't do all that. They have streets and sidewalks for a reason. Stay your motherfucking ass on that sidewalk because you not ready for this black top. So don't fuck with me. I'm trying to be a great father to my children. I'm trying to be a good husband. I love God. I was late to this interview because I prayed with my wife. I didn't. I'm not late to this interview because I was all fucking off and doing all that extra shit. It's the most intimate thing that you can do with a woman is praying. We are experiencing intimacy without sex. So I don't with nobody. So when you with me, I'm gonna with you. And I'm not gonna stop. That's like. That's like. That's like. That's like. That's like the angry black man. No, I ain't gonna make you violent. Shouldn't have been hitting you with that, man. He shouldn't have did that. You wasn't looking for that. Now I'm about to show you the same way you make me feel. I want everything wrong. I want everybody to go talk to me. I do it, bro. Nah, I just say that. Cause it ain't too many. I didn't expect you to see me just right off the bat. You know, people say it's something different about that guy. But you was like, are you. I said, what you just say to me?
Paul Pierce
He understands.
Kevin Gates
How he know about this hill?
Paul Pierce
He understands.
Kevin Gates
Well, he done been, you know, a man by the distance traveled where he done been.
Paul Pierce
He understand.
Kevin Gates
How he know about this?
Paul Pierce
He understands.
Kevin Gates
Or they kind of like.
Paul Pierce
I think we kind of speak the same language.
Kevin Gates
We do.
Paul Pierce
But I'm saying, understand?
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir, I understand.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, right.
Kevin Gates
I understand.
Paul Pierce
Get it?
Kevin Gates
I don't understand.
Paul Pierce
Understand.
Kevin Gates
I'm not standing under the judgment. I don't overstand. I'm not standing over the judgment. I understand.
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Azar Faraday
That's.
Paul Pierce
It's something else going on up here.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
He knows. He does.
Kevin Gates
We on location? Yeah, we in.
Paul Pierce
Go ahead, girl. Go ahead.
Azar Faraday
No, I love it. I'm just here.
Kevin Gates
We in here, man.
Paul Pierce
He understand that.
Kevin Gates
So crazy though. I'm a lead. It.
Paul Pierce
Hey, you understand? Huh?
Kevin Gates
Huh?
Paul Pierce
He understands without question. Like it's something else that I can't explain. And I've been trying to tell people I can't explain certain type of energies.
Kevin Gates
You just know that you know I know that I know you know. And then. Look, I tell you this. This. Like if I open my bed. No, they're not in my bed. They're in my gym bag. I got a pair of cardio frames. They. Something similar to them. I wear them at the gym because there's certain people, they energy. I can't look at it. It'll throw me off my pivot.
Paul Pierce
You feel it?
Kevin Gates
I can't look at it. Then I gotta have my head. I gotta have my head wrapped up. I gotta have my crown covered. Because that's the first place they get attacked. The crown chakra and the heart chakra. So like when I. When I see, like. It's so crazy. One of the. The second time I had visitation, they had on sunglasses. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
I don't even know I'm laughing because I'm trying to get there.
Azar Faraday
I get it. You gotta go though.
Kevin Gates
Alchemy, being spoken to the ether.
Paul Pierce
No, I understand.
Kevin Gates
Just real.
Azar Faraday
But you fast for 42 days. Like imagine that. That's what it takes.
Paul Pierce
This I'm building.
Azar Faraday
Yeah. It's.
Kevin Gates
That's when you break your fast. You don't be wanting to come out. And you feel bad.
Paul Pierce
100.
Kevin Gates
Cause you was with God.
Paul Pierce
100.
Azar Faraday
100.
Paul Pierce
My skin feel different.
Kevin Gates
It's like I feel like our skin look different.
Paul Pierce
It looked. It's a glow. You feel gluggy glowing, huh?
Azar Faraday
Cuz it's inner. It's an inner.
Paul Pierce
And the most I've done is four day.
Kevin Gates
After four days trap stay down. Watch the paper break up. Got a pretty bad. You don't need no makeup. Yes, sir. Without question. Hey. Once you came around me, your skin start glowing. Anything wrong, I'll make it look better. Entertain clowns. You become a peasant.
Paul Pierce
Hey, hey, hey.
Kevin Gates
Forgive me. It just comes out.
Paul Pierce
Ain't no forgiven no, no.
Kevin Gates
I tell people, forgive me. I'm so not artist. It just come out.
Paul Pierce
Ain't no forgiving. I. I understand.
Azar Faraday
No forgiveness needed. You know, we understand. We feel it, you know, and getting to that level of 42 day fasting, that's like people don't even understand what that is. Like, that's. I've only done six days.
Kevin Gates
I pray.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Almighty Creator, give me the almighty Creator come to you and all of your holy names in the celestial court above even your secret names. Cuz when I was up there, I saw things that. You know what I'm saying? So all of your holy names, like, because it's God has different names. It's only one God, but the rituals are different. We just be around here tripping, religious, gang banging and all that. But when I operate out of love, I don't care what you is, blind, cripple or crazy, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, whatever you believe in. If I operate out of love, that's God. I'm not religious gang banging with nobody. Yeah, I don't do all that. I ain't got time. I do what works for me. You do what works for you, buddy.
Paul Pierce
Hey. This is powerful.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
That white voice that I be using, that's a coping mechanism for me. I use that to make light of tough situations. Like if I'm in jail.
Paul Pierce
What you mean like if I'm in jail?
Kevin Gates
Like if I'm giving you an illustration, like if I'm in jail.
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Kevin Gates
And say, say I'm on my way to court. And I remember turning to the guard and telling, hey, excuse me, where's all the other people that have to come to court? He said, now we do it one at a time up here. I say all of this for me. You shouldn't have.
Paul Pierce
Shouldn't have.
Kevin Gates
And it's like, it's a way of coping and making light of my situations.
Azar Faraday
Why do you think it's a white voice?
Kevin Gates
The white voice?
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Cause it is. His name's Stephen Schwartz.
Azar Faraday
Stephen Schwartz. Where do you think that comes from? Is it just.
Kevin Gates
I heard somebody say Stephen Schwartz and he seems like he'll talk like that. So that's one of the people, that's one of the people in my head that talk to me. He helps me. He helps me cope through negative situations.
Azar Faraday
Okay. I'm not mad at that.
Kevin Gates
And then sometime when I need to go clean myself or wash myself, I hear my grandmother voice. Baby, make sure you get all behind your ears. Just cause you light skinned don't mean you ain't dirty.
Paul Pierce
Rub.
Kevin Gates
Hey, hey. Make sure you get all around your neck too. Fuck with them people talking about they don't use no wash rag. Shit, if they don't use the same. If you can't use the same comb, don't bring them home if you can't use the same. You know, my grandma, so she was, she did that was that tough love. She said, make sure you wash yourself. You clean yourself. Go ahead. Excuse me. Not to cut your whiskey.
Paul Pierce
Listen. I'm listening.
Kevin Gates
No, I'm listening.
Paul Pierce
You say was. Is she not around anymore?
Kevin Gates
Yeah, she. She. Well, she's here.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Paul Pierce
That's what I was gonna ask you next. Is she still here though?
Kevin Gates
And then sometimes when I need to be self motivated, my grandfather voice will just talk through me to me.
Paul Pierce
So.
Kevin Gates
And I noticed it the first time when I was looking at the floor and my nickname, Dick. So it'll be like, hey, listen to me, Dick. That flow ain't gonna push yourself. Go and get down there, do some push ups. You gonna feel better, baby. Because a lot of times when I go to the gym, I don't feel like doing it. But winners do it like they love it. Even when they don't want to.
Paul Pierce
100.
Kevin Gates
Even when they don't feel like it. I don't feel 100. So you gonna let your feelings. You lawyer to your feelings? That's what you saying?
Paul Pierce
No, what I'm saying is when I'm not you.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, generalizing.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But like, you know, I was playing sports and I didn't feel like doing half the. But I did it something. It was. My mind was fucked up and I don't know if it was fucked up. It was just something talking to me like, get up at 4 in the morning, go to the beach and run.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
Get up, go, go.
Kevin Gates
That's my drug jogging.
Paul Pierce
You know what I'm saying? Go run this sand hill at 3 in the morning.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
Like something telling me and my body is something.
Kevin Gates
Oh, you been tapped in my body
Paul Pierce
telling me something else. But my mind took me there.
Kevin Gates
Something in your spirit.
Paul Pierce
I left the club and went to the beach to run after a night.
Kevin Gates
Oxygenate that body.
Paul Pierce
Like I've done that.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, the oxygen come off the water same.
Paul Pierce
It's something else.
Kevin Gates
Nah, that ain't insane. I don't know.
Paul Pierce
But like when people on the outside call it that, you have to be. You know what I'm saying?
Kevin Gates
People be telling me like, kevin, you insane.
Paul Pierce
I am.
Kevin Gates
It's a. This is a level to this world. This is a level, man. It's the normal people that I. That give me the creeps. These filthy humans give Me, the creeps, this world, the normal people.
Paul Pierce
You understand? This world calls you that. But in my world, it ain't.
Kevin Gates
Your world's supposed to revolve around you. Like, exactly like. That's why I posted the. Somebody said he's so narcissistic. So I looked up the definition and I put it up on my. On my story. It would be insanity to not be like that about yourself. I hold myself accountable. I was about to pull off and go to the gym, turn back around, hold on. If I don't make my bed, I already failed today. I ain't got my own house, right? I ain't got myself. I ain't got my area together. Yeah. I'm gonna be thinking about this the whole time I'm at the gym. Like, I'm not even gonna get a good workout. Cause I know that my bed, I ain't. I didn't honor the commitment that I made to myself, man. I got to take care of this, man, asap. I had told myself, man, hey, look, the gym could wait, because if you ain't together, you ain't together, man. Go in that and get that together right. There ain't no I' ma do it when I get back, man. Go take. Hey, go get that business handled. So I went and got that business handled, and I went to the gym, had a great workout.
Paul Pierce

So Halle Berry recently said that she feels like women should stop faking orgasms because it's probably putting men's needs before your own, basically
Paul Pierce
as putting men a
Azar Faraday
man's needs before your own by faking the orgasm.
Paul Pierce
Well, I remember when you said one time that most women don't have orgasms.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, a lot don't. And a lot will. Some will fake it because they feel bad and they want to just make a man feel like he's doing that, you know. So a lot of women do fake orgasms where they think. A lot of men think they are giving women orgasms and they're not. So she's basically saying, like, we should. And there's a lot of women who do orgasm, but they are just with someone who's either like, learned their body or they taught them or whatever the case is. So there she's basically saying, like, you should stop faking the orgasm because you shouldn't be putting his needs before yours. That means that he thinks he made you come. He didn't. And now you're just trying to, like, do it to get him going and making him feel like better about himself.
Paul Pierce
I don't think nothing wrong with that. Get him going. Uplift your man. What's the point? That's uplift your man.
Azar Faraday
Uplift your woman by making her come.
Paul Pierce
Well, tell him how to do it. If he ain't doing it, show him how to do it. Yeah, but like, if you gonna keep faking it and be disappointed, tell him how to do it. Like, do he know or can he. Is he capable? It's a conversation. Then.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, I feel like a lot of women fake it. I don't fake that at all because I just don't. But I just think that women do. And I get it. You just want to feel like, okay, whatever, like you satisfied. It is harder for a lot of women to reach that. You know what I mean? And so I feel like it is on the woman to teach the man. It's also I feel like on the man to, like, be on it. On, like, what should I do, babe. What do you want? Like, da da da, da da. So I think it's both ways, because I even think with women, I think men should, like. I feel like women do stuff with men, and they were like, it's cool, but they like it a certain way or something different too. So I think both parties have to be more vocal. About what?
Paul Pierce
Well, why the man gotta be vocal. He's not the one faking it. She is.
Azar Faraday
No, I'm saying for his pleasure, too. Like, what he likes.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, Most men are. 99% of the men. They gone.
Azar Faraday
No, they are, but I'm saying they
Paul Pierce
gonna get to where they need to go.
Azar Faraday
No, I know they're gonna get there,
Paul Pierce
but I'm saying a lot of times it ain't even on the woman. It's on him.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, I'm not even saying that. I'm just saying, like, I feel like both parties, like, can instruct or tell the person, like, what they like more, basically, what you like more.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, of course.
Azar Faraday
Yeah. But I feel like it could be awkward, I guess, for a woman, because it's like, how do you even tell a man? Like, you know, I think a lot of women struggle with that, and we've talked about that when Sham Boudram was on our show about just how to approach that scenario for a lot of women or whatever the case may be, on how to be satisfied or whatever. Because I think that there's, like, a stigma. Like, you know, as a. As a woman, you have to make sure a man is not, like, just walking around here, not, like, satisfied or not like having sex or da, da, da, da, da. But I don't think that men feel that way about women. They're just like, oh, they're good, you know? Like, I feel like men don't think about it like that. Like, oh, she's out here just, like, not getting, you know, cracking, like, getting her shit off. So.
Kevin Gates
Damn.
Azar Faraday
Like, men don't think about that about women.
Paul Pierce
I mean, then when the woman take a man down, you all take all our energy. Like, boom. Like, what you expect from, like, you don't get no gratification of taking your man down. Like, y' all took him down.
Azar Faraday
But so you know what? You know what men don't realize? You know how, like, if you had sex but you didn't come, you still need to, like, get your shit out.
Paul Pierce
Okay.
Azar Faraday
That's the same as a woman, you know that.
Paul Pierce
I don't.
Azar Faraday
Well, I'm telling you, like, men don't realize that.
Paul Pierce
It's just Never had that issue.
Azar Faraday
Men don't realize that that's the same as a woman. Like, if a woman has sex and she doesn't, she's still gonna be, like, turned on until she can get that out. You know what I mean? So, like, men don't realize, like, yes, you're satisfied by taking a man down, of course, but that doesn't mean you're not like, yeah, for sure.
Paul Pierce
But then women. Women go out. That's why these sex shops is made for women more so than men. So y' all go out and get y' all little devices and stuff, and y' all be like, all right, I'll take care of myself then. That's what women do. Women do that.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, the women do do that. Yeah, they do. But men are. Y'. All. Men are okay with that. They're just like, whatever. You could just go do your own thing. I don't care to, like, figure it out.
Paul Pierce
Women do that way more than men.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, of course. Because women are not coming. Men, like you said, are going to come 99% of the time. A woman is not. So it's different.
Paul Pierce
Well, it's easier for a man to get there than a woman.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, for sure. 100%.
Paul Pierce
It's harder. It's harder for a woman. I mean, when you've been took down so many times, it's harder for the woman.
Azar Faraday
What do you mean?
Paul Pierce
I say what. I say what I mean. When the woman has so much intercourse with so many different men, it's harder for you.
Azar Faraday
That's not true. You know that it's actually more easy for a woman to come, the more sexual experience that she had because she's more in tune with her body. Do you think that we're coming when we first have sex? When we first have sex, it hurts and it's uncomfortable. You don't start enjoying sex until you're, like, more. You've had more sex, Just so you know. So it's not about. A woman's been taken down by so many men now she can't come. Matter of fact, women who are more sexually active come a lot quicker and know how to make themselves come a lot faster than women who are less sexually active. Okay, so that's a complete wrong statement all the way.
Paul Pierce
Thanks for schooling me.
Azar Faraday
No, because it is. You said that when Shan Boudreau was on the show, too, and she told you the same thing. It's wrong. Like, you think. Cause she's broken now. Cause she done got too lit up.
Paul Pierce
She got beat up so many Times.
Azar Faraday
That's not the truth. That's so, like a juvenile thought. That's so untrue.
Paul Pierce
I know.
Azar Faraday
Okay. If prescribed, new sexual health patients get $15 off their first order of sparks on a reoccurring plan. Connect with the provider at Roe Co. Tad, to find out if prescription roast sparks are right for you.
Paul Pierce
What time do you wake up in the morning?
Kevin Gates
3. 3:30. The Creator comes to the lowest parts of the heaven in the last quarter of the night. So when you wake up at 12. Between hours of 12 and 3am I don't know why I'm saying that. I never said this in the interview before. So that's, you know, you're in a fasted state because you've been fasting, you've been sleep, you've been without. It's the body rejuvenating itself. And when the Creator comes to the lowest parts of the heaven in the last quarter of the night, that's when you wake up out your sleep. That's when it's time to talk to God. Because he already talking to you. We could feel, we hear. God bragged to the angels about me. He said, look at him down there worshiping me. Yet he's never seen my face. I've seen a silhouette, but not the face.
Paul Pierce
I wake up at three every morning to use the bathroom.
Kevin Gates
Yes, Lord.
Paul Pierce
And I. But I don't wake up. And I wake up at five again.
Kevin Gates
But it's consistent discharging. That's discharging, negative energy.
Paul Pierce
Why is that?
Kevin Gates
You think, like, you ever drunk nothing but water? Yeah. And then went and got a massage and then your piss was brown.
Paul Pierce
I didn't pay attention.
Kevin Gates
Well, if you notice, that's the toxins being released from the body.
Paul Pierce
Okay?
Kevin Gates
But you drink nothing but water.
Paul Pierce
You piss and clip, drink water, you
Kevin Gates
piss and clear all day, then you go get a massage. Your piss brown. That's toxins in the muscle. Our body holds trauma in the muscle, in the fascia. So you ain't doing nothing wrong. That why I don't tell people if I fought. Excuse me. Why? Why I gotta tell you? Excuse me. Anything leaving the body is sacred. If I laugh, if I cry, if I burp, if I fart. Man, fuck all that. I'm gonna sit there like I ain't doin'. I ain't gonna sit there. I wish somebody will. Whoever smelt it, dealt it. Whoever fucking smelt it, dealt it, buddy.
Paul Pierce
If it's a loud one, though. Come on, you got allow. If it's a loud one, allow.
Kevin Gates
You got to say so if I just be. If I be like, yeah, yeah. Loud like, damn, I'll make a joke out it. Damn, that's crazy.
Paul Pierce
That's crazy.
Kevin Gates
Somebody else do it. Hey, man, it's time to go. Hey, boy, you done cut that catalytic converter. The catalytic converter is what make the. The mufflers not loud, but when you cut it, it's running straight pipe on that motherfucker, man. That boy got a hellcat, huh? That boy got a Durango. That boy got that charger.
Paul Pierce
So I'm saying, check this out. So
Kevin Gates
I'm very metaphoric. So I.
Paul Pierce
No, I'm just saying for the audience
Kevin Gates
that doesn't know what metaphors are, it's comparing two things without using like or ass. It's a metaphor. I make a lot of comparisons.
Paul Pierce
Oh, man, that's real. That's real.
Kevin Gates
It feel good to feel good.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, it do feel good to feel feel good.
Kevin Gates
My wife be like, all I do is laugh when I'm around you, cuz she goofy, too. I'm like, babe, you know I'm goofy, baby. You know I'm a teddy bear. Just please don't make me angry.
Paul Pierce
Oh, damn, damn. So damn. If I fart, don't look at me crazy for what? I'm talking about her.
Kevin Gates
You got the right to do that.
Paul Pierce
All right, one coming right now.
Kevin Gates
Hey, N. Coming.
Paul Pierce
No fake not playing.
Kevin Gates
We all done did horrible things in our life or things that we not proud of. We all done made mistakes. But if you woke up today, God is pleased with you. So why do I got to be explaining myself to somebody? You're a mere mortal. You ain't perfect.
Azar Faraday
Come on.
Paul Pierce
Bless you.
Azar Faraday
Bless you. See, I love it.
Kevin Gates
That cough needed to come out.
Azar Faraday
He was trying.
Paul Pierce
He had to get that out.
Azar Faraday
He had to get it out. That energy, I love it. What you got? So my thing is, is I just want to say that I appreciate you being so vulnerable. And as a man, I noticed with men, that's hard. Like, vulnerability for a lot of people is not easy. Paul talks about being vulnerable all the time. For you, like, how did you. What did you do to just be a man who's like, I could cry. I could be vulnerable.
Kevin Gates
My grandmother Spirit came to me and hugged me when I was in Puerto Rico, and I made a song called Fairy Tale, and I talked about my molestation, me being sexually victimized. I talked about how I was looked at like a black sheep after what took place after that and things of that nature. And once I did the Mike Tyson interview People called me. I cried for my manager. That's my manager now. He was my engineer. After we did that song, I cried uncontrollably for two weeks straight after that. I broke down because I had been holding that for so long. Yeah.
Azar Faraday
Damn.
Paul Pierce
I felt amazing.
Azar Faraday
You felt good releasing that.
Kevin Gates
So I made a song about how it happened, and they. I was kind of demonized a little bit. They looked at it like, I don't even want to get into it. But long story short, you know, people called us. People was getting in touch with me because my Instagram was deleted for, like, a year and a half. People was getting in touch with me. Like, man, we did not know. Yeah. That. That's how they had. You know.
Azar Faraday
Did you ever try to explain it to anybody? Everybody. Anybody.
Kevin Gates
Oh. When the person that you explain it to, like, most of the times don't be comfortable having the tough conversation.
Azar Faraday
Exactly.
Kevin Gates
They sweep it under the rug.
Paul Pierce
Right.
Azar Faraday
That's what I'm saying. I've heard people have that experience. Even myself, like, they just go back to sleep. Yeah.
Paul Pierce
You know what?
Azar Faraday
That was gaslighting me.
Kevin Gates
Oh, well, now my children live by a different creed. They know that. They know that fighting solves everything. And we gonna have them tough conversations.
Azar Faraday
I love that.
Kevin Gates
I'm talking about, hey, listen, now, you go to school, people gonna talk about you.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
They talked about God. So your little funky ass don't stand a chance. You gonna get talked about. But if somebody put their hands on you, hey, you better go platinum right there. Ain't no wait till tomorrow. Ain't no think about it. Start the stupid right there. And I'm gonna come to school, and I'm gonna be like, hey, I can't believe you did this. I swear to God, I'm gonna kill you when we get to the house, I'm saying, I'm gonna make it look good. I say, when we leave, I'm gonna tell you, hey, good job.
Paul Pierce
Good job.
Kevin Gates
Hey, hey, good job. I'm gonna take you by every toy you want.
Paul Pierce
All right?
Kevin Gates
Good job.
Paul Pierce
100.
Kevin Gates
Because, hey, bullies don't stop being bullies. Are you saying, hey, don't touch me there. This is my no, no square that don't make bully stop. Bullies stop when you apply pressure. Either you applying pressure or you feeling it. Pain is the greatest motivator. Pain will motivate you to stop with me. You know what I'm saying? So I believe in those type of things.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
And then that's like, even with my daughter. See, Damn. She didn't my, my little girl done seen something. She, she 12, about to be 13. She just seen me get out my character before about her and I noticed it gave her a different sense of peace. I just cried a couple months ago when I found out she had got. Oh God, if baby, if you watching this, don't kill me. When I found out she had got a mensis for people that don't know what a menses is. She's entered into womanhood now.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, of course.
Azar Faraday
Yes.
Kevin Gates
I got a cycle, man. I just, I cried, broke down this
Paul Pierce
first time crying in front of her.
Kevin Gates
I ain't crying in front of her. I just walked in the room and cried. I said my baby grown, my baby grown. And then when I was I go in there cause I saged the house, I go in there and sage my house sometime and I was saging her bathroom in her closet and I seen her pads. When I looked under the counter, she had her pads just neat and I. And made me drop tears again. I say my baby grown man. I already had missed a lot of her life due to me being incarcerated. Cause I used to take baths with her. That was like our time. Then when I came home, she was too old for me to even take baths with her again. And I missed it. Like I miss that. I miss bathing my children. That's one thing I do miss.
Paul Pierce
I have some more, I just.
Azar Faraday
You have some more.
Kevin Gates
I'll have some more.
Paul Pierce
I just. For the first time last weekend I just cried in front of my daughter for the first time. My 17, I have a 17 year old. This is the first time she ever seen me cry.
Kevin Gates
Can I be psychic? And she ended up comforting you? Yeah, man, that's what they do. She's 17, that's what they do.
Paul Pierce
My oldest.
Kevin Gates
I'm thinking I gotta. I'm your protector, I'm providing a protector, I'm providing the protection and she providing the comfort.
Azar Faraday
I never seen my dad cry before and he's 78.
Paul Pierce
This is my first time. Yeah, but she cried too.
Azar Faraday
What were you crying off of?
Paul Pierce
Well, I was sitting by the fire outside in my backyard and you know, she expressed to me about some things that she was disappointed in me about some weeks ago. So I never had a chance to be. And so now this is me facing her about that. And I apologized to her and I said, listen, I'm not perfect. I'm still learning how to be a dad. I'm still, you know, ain't no book to this. And moving forward, I'm trying to be the Best example for you. Cause I love you more than anything in the world. And you know, I don't try to embarrass you or there are things that I've done. The sins of a father or. Or. Or it hurts. You know what they say they call it the sins of a father can, like, punish the.
Azar Faraday
The children like something.
Paul Pierce
And I've done some things that's been embarrassing to her and.
Kevin Gates
But at the same time, baby, I'm not perfect.
Paul Pierce
That's what I tried to.
Kevin Gates
I'm going to make a lot of mo mistakes. You thought I embarrassed you that time. I'm about to embarrass you a lot more, cuz.
Paul Pierce
I don't know.
Kevin Gates
That was the.
Paul Pierce
That was the concept.
Kevin Gates
See, my children know they dad to toe up. They know.
Paul Pierce
They know.
Kevin Gates
They know I'm leaving the move there, and I hang all out the window, leaving the movie theater. They like. They like, that's just dad being dead. But, yeah, other children be like, man, y' all got the coolest dad. But to them, I'm just a dad, right? They don't look at me like Kevin Gates. They look at me like Marcellus Kevin Gates.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, like so. That's beautiful when you go like, look, I tell my daughter every time.
Paul Pierce
I apologize, though.
Kevin Gates
I even had. I even just had another conversation with her. I say, babe, you think you was mo damn, I don't even need to say no, I need to see it. I was like, baby, you think when I was just fucking buku ho slinging that dick, my life was good? Or you like it more that I'm structured and I got a wife? She say, dad, I'm gonna be honest. That was a lot of bullshit energy. She 12. She talked grown. Cause I ain't that sound like she
Paul Pierce
was talking to a grownup.
Kevin Gates
She said, daddy, that was a lot of bullshit energy just to get. You had to go through with that and all that. And she was like, I like, where you at now? And this was on our way to. We. I took him to Laguna beach, like, two weeks ago. I took me. I took me, my son and my wife, and we went out there. Me, my son, my daughter and my wife, and we went out there and we were sitting by the fire. Same thing you said. I teared up. I dropped a couple tears. I was like, you know, I really wish I could have gave y' all a normal life. My daughter was like, well, dad, if you think about it, academically, I'm better off than what I would have been at public school. I do have friends, everything. Because, you know, when people meet them, they. Kevin Gates, your dad. So a lot of the interactions that they have are superficial. Right. So they had to learn how to gauge and re energy at a young age, you know what I'm saying?
Paul Pierce
And that's what you talk to about.
Kevin Gates
It's okay to be used. You know what I'm saying? Just don't abuse.
Paul Pierce
Right.
Kevin Gates
If you can't be used, you useless. That's how the world look at you.
Azar Faraday
Yeah. Don't misuse me. But you can use me. Yeah, that's what I always say.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, man. So that's crazy. Hey, tapped in, bro.
Paul Pierce
This is crazy.
Kevin Gates
I can ask you a question.
Paul Pierce
Yeah, for sure.
Kevin Gates
Is it ever difficult being around people that aren't tapped in? And you have to kind of dim it for fear of being hurtful, misunderstood, or just weird.
Paul Pierce
I don't expect nobody else to be tapped in.
Kevin Gates
So when you do, is it, like, refreshing?
Paul Pierce
This is refreshing.
Kevin Gates
Very.
Azar Faraday
But I have a question too. Let me ask this.
Paul Pierce
It's weird. This is kind of weird in a
Kevin Gates
way, because, like, you know what the word weird means?
Paul Pierce
Well, not weird.
Kevin Gates
People that are. That have the ability to predict the future. I'm weird.
Paul Pierce
So I. Like what I want to explain, not
Kevin Gates
to cut y' all wisdom, what you was about to say.
Azar Faraday
Oh, I was gonna say.
Kevin Gates
I don't want to lose the message.
Azar Faraday
No, no, my question was, for me, like, growing up, I always experienced this. Like, I was really weird, I guess you would say. And I would look in the mirror and I'd be like, who? I would be like, who am I? And I've done this from a young age. And I would have an outer body experience and I would see.
Kevin Gates
Oh, looking in the mirror. Yeah.
Azar Faraday
And I would see myself out of my own body. Then it would freak me out and I would stop. The point is, is like, growing up, I always felt like I couldn't connect with a lot of people and I condemned myself for that.
Kevin Gates
Parallel universe. Yeah, that's that parallel universe, you know, our ancestors. I hope I ain't saying the wrong thing when they looked at it. I hope I'm not. I gotta say this before I say this. To tell the truth, out of season is worse than telling a lie. But everything I ever said that sounded crazy and people thought I was looking for shock value, I never. I could give a fuck less. But everybody came back and apologized. Kevin Gates was right. Yeah, I know. But I had to say that to say that. Long story short. Short story long. But our ancestors used to Look. And living reflections of themselves, like water and things of that nature. They wouldn't look in the mirror.
Azar Faraday
Yeah. And that would be such a weird experience for me.
Kevin Gates
I don't even sleep with mirrors in my room or facing my bed when I sleep. I turn them around.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Parallel.
Azar Faraday
Yeah. But do you ever feel like. Because you're different in that way and you're not. Like, a lot of people aren't tapped in on that level.
Kevin Gates
I'mma go with what he just said. I don't expect you to understand.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
But I got to do what works for me. The life of the car is determined by the energy of the driver. Certain people get in the car with me, I stay getting pulled over. When I'm by myself, I don't get pulled over. So if you hurt me, bitch, your check engine light gonna come on.
Paul Pierce
This is my first time meeting a male angel.
Kevin Gates
I just had to say that. Just.
Paul Pierce
I hear that.
Kevin Gates
That's real, but it ain't. The life of the car is determined by the energy of the driver.
Paul Pierce
Well, sure.
Kevin Gates
I pray in this car. I don't do all that old silly ass. Don't get in my car with that negative ass energy. My brakes might go out, bitch. I might catch a. I had somebody in the car. Me, I caught two flats on the side they was sitting on. God. Tried to wait my car tried to tell me your puss ass wasn't right. That's why your puss ass ain't got a car. Man, I don't think you don't deserve this shit, man.
Paul Pierce
I don't think you understand that.
Kevin Gates
I do.
Paul Pierce
I do, though.
Kevin Gates
I didn't at first. You know why? I'm gonna tell y'.
Azar Faraday
All.
Paul Pierce
I do.
Kevin Gates
Hold on, let me.
Paul Pierce
That's the thing.
Kevin Gates
Let me tell you. I gotta be gentle with myself. I gotta be gentle with myself. But you want me to tell you my stupid ass did came back, parked the car, and then put him in the truck with me and we got in the truck and drove off.
Paul Pierce
Nah, he supposed to get in the Uber.
Kevin Gates
You was supposed to be out of my presence.
Paul Pierce
Deep.
Kevin Gates
Exactly.
Paul Pierce
In the. Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Two flats on the side he's sitting on.
Paul Pierce
Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Kevin Gates
That was some boss sense.
Paul Pierce
No, I bought that. It took lessons to learn it, though. It took lessons.
Kevin Gates
I said in a song. Hey, hey. I had to stop letting people ride with me, man. Stay getting pulled over. Police can't even see me when I'm by myself. I'm invisible when I put on these glasses. Yeah, I'm invisible. But anyway.
Paul Pierce
Yeah. No but like, this is the thing. Like, the growth is. The growth is. I'll tell you this. It's before they get in the car, you should have known before they got in the car.
Kevin Gates
You shouldn't even have been wrong. Puss ass shouldn't even have been wrong. I shouldn't even had your puss ass in my presence. You ain't even living how I'm living. For real.
Paul Pierce
That's the growth part.
Kevin Gates
But, you know, I'm gonna be honest.
Paul Pierce
Like I've learned.
Kevin Gates
I used to operate. I used to operate off batteries, right? Yeah. I was a robot.
Azar Faraday
But my thing was, for me, it's like, it's hard because it's every nobody. There's not a lot of people tapped in. So I'm gonna deal with people. Cause I don't want to be alone. For a long time, I felt like that I didn't want to be alone. So I know. And my intuition is telling me, I know you're not on my level. I know you're not on my frequency, but damn, I want to vibe with someone. I want to kick it. That's just me being honest. So I' ma rock with you. Because if I decide not to with anybody who's not on my frequency, I'm gonna be above the circle. I'm gonna. It's. I'm gonna be too big for the circle. I'm gonna be too big for the circle of friends. You know what I'm saying?
Kevin Gates
I get it. Yeah, I get it. But that be so draining when you got to always think for another.
Azar Faraday
It does.
Kevin Gates
Don't know they left from their right, but won't tell me what they was thinking. Babe, I was just thinking. Hold on, babe, please don't do that. Don't start thinking because you don't get paid to do that. None of your great thinking has got us where we are, right? Don't even start doing all that.
Azar Faraday
I don't even know why I'm wrong exactly. And then you get frustrated to be around you.
Kevin Gates
Especially if I wake up in the morning, Oh, I gave myself to you.
Azar Faraday
Facts. I know that you pouring into a bottle cap. And you the water bottle. And they don't even have the capacity to hold everything you pour in, man. And when it's time to pour back into you, they only got the bottle cap.
Kevin Gates
Hey. And they give me, give me, man, give me. Got shat. I don't want to hear none of your bad. I don't care what's going on in your life. I don't want to Interfere with what God is doing in your life right now.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
Cuz if I help you out of your situation, I take your karma. I just took your chromatic debt. Oh, I can't help you, homie.
Azar Faraday
Oh, I didn't even. That's.
Kevin Gates
You want to see how somebody feel about you? Tell them no.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, have a boundary.
Kevin Gates
Tell them no. Even that. Hey, I love y'.
Paul Pierce
All.
Kevin Gates
I'm about to get off this phone. What you about to do? Get off this phone.
Paul Pierce
Or when they ask you for something, you say no.
Azar Faraday
Or don't make excuses for anything. Just be like, I know.
Paul Pierce
And there's no reason love should be
Kevin Gates
reciprocated the way that I give it. I love hard. My, my. I wear my emotions on my sleeve. I love hard. Everybody see it. But hey, ain't nobody never going to love you like I love you. I'm a great friend. I'm just not friendly. I'm a great friend, though. Everybody say they said them Kevin Gates hugs be different. What's your sign? I'm the best sign in the world, silly.
Azar Faraday
Let me guess.
Kevin Gates
You know what I am? What? What you about to say?
Azar Faraday
You know what I sign. I think he is.
Kevin Gates
Just tell me. Just say it.
Azar Faraday
I think he's a Libra.
Kevin Gates
False.
Azar Faraday
No. I thought he was Libra like you. Wait, let me get one more guess. Please give me one more guess.
Paul Pierce
It wasn't a Libra. I didn't feel it.
Azar Faraday
You didn't feel a Libra? What do you feel?
Kevin Gates
Don't overthink it.
Azar Faraday
I'm overthinking it. That's the problem.
Paul Pierce
I don't know the sign.
Kevin Gates
Overthinkers are great because once they make a decision, at least they thought about it a thousand times. But what you about to say?
Azar Faraday
God, no. Cause this is. I'm like, what? You're a Scorpio.
Kevin Gates
Boom, boom, boom. I love them. They freaky, they nasty. But I ain't a Scorpio.
Azar Faraday
No good. Cause I'm not good.
Paul Pierce
I'm thinking like winter.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir. Aquarius.
Azar Faraday
I was not the January.
Kevin Gates
I should have said that. You know why you ain't getting Aquarius.
Azar Faraday
I knew I should have said it, though. It was on my heart.
Kevin Gates
I'm a healed Aquarius.
Paul Pierce
It's in the winter.
Azar Faraday
I knew he was an Aquarius. I should have said it.
Paul Pierce
I didn't look February 5th. I felt winter.
Azar Faraday
I felt glorious. And I didn't say it. I second guessed myself. And I always up when I second guessed myself.
Kevin Gates
You should have followed your first Bible.
Azar Faraday
I should have Said Stephen.
Paul Pierce
I'm sorry, Big Stephen. That's the one thing I didn't look.
Kevin Gates
I didn't look at. Oh, big Stephen.
Paul Pierce
Big Steve.
Kevin Gates
I should have Stephen. Oh God.
Paul Pierce
I didn't know I had no.
Kevin Gates
Heavens, no.
Paul Pierce
I just felt winter. That's all that came from.
Azar Faraday
I knew it was an Aquarius. I know you guys don't believe me when I say this, but I promise this is on everything. I felt it in my soul and I didn't say it.
Kevin Gates
We believe you. What's your saying?
Azar Faraday
Can you guess?
Kevin Gates
No.
Azar Faraday
Okay. I'm an Aries. Why that reaction?
Kevin Gates
I knew you was an Aries.
Azar Faraday
You knew?
Kevin Gates
Why? They go harder for others than they go for they self. They fire. They super fiery.
Azar Faraday
That's the realest thing. That's the realest explanation of an Aries I ever. But once you cross them, it's over. But I will go.
Kevin Gates
But if you keep it platinum with them. From my daughter. I got a 22 year old daughter, she Aries.
Azar Faraday
When's her birthday?
Kevin Gates
I don't. One of them days. It's not that even my. I could tell you what month. Even my children. All my children, I know what month they born in. But I don't subscribe to that.
Azar Faraday
That's my dad too.
Kevin Gates
I don't subscribe to birthday because that's a. No, you was only born one time. Now this your holy month. Okay, I got you for the whole month. I'mma flush you out the whole month.
Paul Pierce
Two of my daughters are Aries.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, they natural born killers. Natural. They born killers. They born warrior spirit.
Paul Pierce
Very much sorry. My daughter and my son. That's the second and the fourth. It's my other daughter.
Kevin Gates
How many kids you got? I got four. I'm playing with a nickel. I got a five piece. I want five more.
Azar Faraday
You want five more kids?
Kevin Gates
I got two 22 year olds. So you got some.
Paul Pierce
I'm really a. I don't mind more.
Kevin Gates
I'm really a grandpa. Cause my son, he 22, he got two children. I just said it out here. So I'll be calling me. If you looking, you be so. Say Unc. No, Grandpa.
Azar Faraday
Grandpa. Okay. Grandpa Calf.
Kevin Gates
I'm really a grandpa out here.
Azar Faraday
That's it. Yeah. No, I don't have kids yet, but I'm getting a little older, so.
Kevin Gates
No such thing. Yeah, no, that's no such thing. I don't know why people put imaginary time limits and boundaries on themselves.
Azar Faraday
Because they say that you're.
Paul Pierce
I don't.
Azar Faraday
Eggs start to decline or something.
Kevin Gates
Who said that? How they know you can't judge me off a scale that we not the same thing.
Azar Faraday
Come on. Come on.
Kevin Gates
I'm not. I'm. I'm not. I'm carbon based.
Azar Faraday
Come on.
Kevin Gates
This different than ammonia based. It's genetically different. You could say what you want to, but what worked for you don't work for me.
Azar Faraday
I love that. I live by that. I feel that.
Kevin Gates
So somebody that can't go on the sun without sunscreen, man, your opinion don't even matter to me, man. God don't even with you that much. Your opinion don't matter to me.
Azar Faraday
Come on, now.
Kevin Gates
Like. I'm just saying, like, people be caring about being liked. I don't give a fuck who don't like me. Like, when I date, talk to Black Lives matter. I say, man, I don't really care for niggas like that. I don't care to be wrong. Cause there's always some bullshit. Well, I' ma go back to the black community. Hey, good luck. Good luck. Why you ain't done none? Cause you don't want that kind of pressure that's gonna get applied, man. Cause we kill each other all day. Talk about each other behind each other back. Any family get together and we gossiping in the kitchen. You just seen me outside and went in the kitchen and decided to turn into a ass. When you went in the kitchen? Yeah, gays. He just. He really. Come on, man. That's all we do. When you look at my comments, the people saying negative shit be niggas. The Black Lives Matter movement, they got mad at me. They said. I told them, hey, listen, I wasn't made for everybody to like,
Paul Pierce
that's.
Kevin Gates
I told him, you know what's worse than a. They was like, what, Another one?
Azar Faraday
Oh, damn.
Kevin Gates
We kill each other all day. The. The. The. The Every. The song I. Your. I kill you, bust your head, you know? And then we talk about each other behind each other back. And then soon as a white person killed one of us, y' all should have left him. Y' all should have let him live. Why? So we could kill him. That's all.
Azar Faraday
Damn, that's deep.
Kevin Gates
Be jumping up and down Holland talking about that Black Lives Matter. Who do they matter to? Oh, even the songs you listen at, you ready to hear about a. Talking about he gonna split a. Cause I like that type of too now. I like to hear get their top popped in a song. I do. I'm being honest, but I don't really too much. Like, if I be wrong, my antennas go up.
Azar Faraday
You be feeling Away.
Kevin Gates
No, it's just because of where I've been at. It's because I. I grew up in them environments for sure.
Azar Faraday
No, that makes sense. I get it. Yeah. Well, I will say this.
Kevin Gates
Where it happened at. At the club. You at the club. A bunch of niggas. Where I grew up, this what. This what did go down where I grew up at.
Paul Pierce
Shots. Waking up in the middle of the night.
Kevin Gates
Yeah, so? So why would. Why would I put myself in that situation? Anywhere I gotta be and have a gun. Hey, I don't need to be there. God bless me right now. If you don't feel like. Hey, if you don't feel like God bless me, that's cool. But look at my situation in your situation. God bless me, homie. I ain't stupid. I know what's up.
Azar Faraday
That's real.
Kevin Gates
How you doing? I'm Stephen Schwartz.
Paul Pierce
Steven Schwartz.
Kevin Gates
I got white neighbors. Guess how many. Guess how many conversations I have my neighbors? Not one. Because I'm a good friend. I'm just not friendly. If they have a package, come, I walk it over and set it on there. Ring that door, but turn around and leave. I come as I leave. Upright, independent and fearless. But I ain't about to sit there and talk with you. Cause that's fake to me. I don't do all that. Yeah, I ain't with all it. Next thing you know, you'll be in the house looking around and being a business I ain't got time for. I felt I can hear my grandmother not. Baby, be careful who you let come in your house.
Paul Pierce
Right?
Azar Faraday
That's very true. I'm very particular about that.
Kevin Gates
Be careful who you let come in your house. They'll bring brokenness in your house. That spirit of brokenness. It's the spirit of abundance with me.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Azar Faraday
Yes.
Kevin Gates
That's like sleeping with a broke. A spirit broken. You didn't manifested brokenness in your life.
Azar Faraday
Damn, Damn.
Kevin Gates
Hey, damn, man. I'm there, but I just can't get over the hump, man. Cut the bitch off. Watch how your life elevate. If it wasn't for me, you right. If it wasn't for you, I'd be way stronger and in a way better position and way more peaceful. That's why I don't even let people tell me that type of shit. Man, you need to. I don't need to do nothing but what God tell me to do.
Azar Faraday
That's real.
Paul Pierce
Kevin. This has been powerful.
Azar Faraday
It really has. I've learned a lot. I appreciate it.
Kevin Gates
I don't know What I was saying you said. I hope I said some real, though. I know. I know. It was the truth.
Azar Faraday
You heard the truth after dark. You said some real things. And I actually learned a lot. It was really insightful. And I appreciate you so much for coming on here.
Paul Pierce
For real.
Azar Faraday
Like, we were super excited to have you here. Like.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Azar Faraday
Wanna. You know.
Kevin Gates
Hey, I can say this, though. You know, I love you to death. You know that I'm a d. You know. You know this. You know, outside of this. I love you to death. I with you. You a real homie. And you can ask my team, hey, John, do I like people? I do not like people. I don't. I don't even meet people I like often. I with you appreciate that. Like another brother. I with. Good man.
Azar Faraday
Yeah.
Paul Pierce
I didn't know what to really expect in this.
Kevin Gates
I know. Don't expect what you don't expect.
Paul Pierce
Yeah. And this has been one of the realest conversations.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir.
Paul Pierce
And.
Kevin Gates
Ready, set, go.
Paul Pierce
Just say it when you know, you
Kevin Gates
know, if I know that I know.
Paul Pierce
All right.
Azar Faraday
Well, yeah.
Paul Pierce
That was an honor, y'.
Azar Faraday
All.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir.
Azar Faraday
Thank you. I appreciate you so much.
Paul Pierce
This is. This is the stars aligned tonight. I felt like.
Kevin Gates
Yes, sir. You can feel it.
Azar Faraday
Yeah, for sure.
Paul Pierce
For sure.
Azar Faraday
I love it. Well, I'm glad we could make that happen. Thank you, Kevin.
Kevin Gates
Thank you.
Azar Faraday
Thank you, Steven.
Kevin Gates
Not even if you catch me with my homeboy. Steven. High school
Paul Pierce
Kevin, your Ph We say,
Azar Faraday
grandma, Granddad, all that.
Kevin Gates
Like, okay.
Azar Faraday
Yes.
Kevin Gates
Just say this.
Azar Faraday
Okay.
Kevin Gates
People tell me you're not supposed to be honoring your ancestors and shit like that, because that's devil worship. But my grandmother taught me how to clean myself. My grandfather taught me things that I could teach to my children. So me honoring them, I honor them with my actions. I don't go sit down and pray to them. I pray to God.
Paul Pierce
Yeah.
Kevin Gates
But I honor my ancestors and the people that came before me with my actions.
Azar Faraday
That's dope.
Paul Pierce
It's powerful.
Azar Faraday
This was. This was really. This was a lot. This was good. Thank you, Kevin.
Paul Pierce
Close.
Azar Faraday
Yeah. Well, thank you, everyone, for watching. My energy is just, you know, I
Kevin Gates
feel it's different in the presence of
Azar Faraday
the Lamb of God, for sure.
Kevin Gates
So you're in the presence of the Lamb of God, the energy gonna be different, right?
Azar Faraday
Yeah, it's powerful. So I hope you guys listen and enjoy. And if you don't, I don't care, but I hope you don't give a. Just keeping it real. But I. I think this was wonderful. And if you really are trying to get to the next level. You sometimes you got to listen and not talk so much. So, like, tap in. Thank you.
Kevin Gates
Listen in silent or spelled with the same letters.
Azar Faraday
I never knew that.
Paul Pierce
Wow.
Kevin Gates
My wife be telling me shit like that.
Azar Faraday
I never knew that. That is good. Listen in silence. Wow.
Kevin Gates
There we go.
Azar Faraday
Thank y'. All.
Paul Pierce
Appreciate it again. All right, everybody. Welcome to Truth After Dark.

It's Lala Kent, host of Untraditionally Lala. My days of filling up cups at Sur may be over, but I'm still loving life in the Valley. Life on the other side of the hill is giving grown up vibes. But over here on my podcast, Untraditionally Lala, I'm still that Lala. You either love or love to hate. It's unruly, it's unafraid, it's untraditionally. Lala. Every week, I'm sitting down with exceptional people who have broken barriers even when the odds were stacked against them, like Chef Victor Villa of Villa's Tacos. You know, the taquero from the Bad Bunny halftime show? It was great.

Featuring: Kevin Gates
Host: Shannon Sharpe (Shay Shay Media & Playmaker), with Azar Faraday and Paul Pierce
In this rich, deeply personal conversation, rapper Kevin Gates joins hosts Azar Faraday and Paul Pierce for a thought-provoking dialogue about his spiritual journey, the transformative power of semen retention, emotional healing, vulnerability, energetic boundaries, and living authentically. Gates discusses his struggles, triumphs, and the philosophies that guide his current path, while the co-hosts offer their own insights and reflections on spiritual growth, masculinity, relationships, and personal accountability. The discussion is candid, profound, sometimes humorous, and suffused with Gates’s raw, poetic authenticity.
On Healing:
"When you heal yourself, you in turn show others how to heal themselves." — Kevin Gates (06:41)
On Semen Retention:
"Everybody laughed at me... but it’s exercise that you can do to move the energy from the prostate up the spinal cord and it can touch the crown chakra... It’s a way greater experience than releasing." — Kevin Gates (15:45)
On Emotional Release:
"I have to emotionally detox every day because we take a lot in every day." — Kevin Gates (27:17)
On Surrender:
"That was the greatest lesson I could ever teach you — how to surrender." — Sensei via Kevin Gates (39:59)
On Energetic Boundaries:
"Certain people get in the car with me, I stay getting pulled over. When I’m by myself, I don’t get pulled over." — Kevin Gates (88:34)
On Unapologetic Self-Love:
"It would be insanity to not be like that about yourself. I hold myself accountable." — Kevin Gates (64:21)
On Parenting:
"My daughter done seen me get out my character before about her, and I noticed it gave her a different sense of peace." — Kevin Gates (80:46)
The episode is warm, unfiltered, spiritual, sometimes humorous, and always direct. Gates’ tone alternates between poetic metaphysics and earthbound plain talk, with Faraday and Pierce offering earnest, often playful, contributions.
This episode is an expansive glimpse into Kevin Gates’s spiritual and emotional universe, challenging assumptions about masculinity, sexuality, healing, and Black identity in America. Gates’s openness, mystical insights, and hard-earned wisdom provide not only a moving personal chronicle but also practical guidance for listeners interested in self-mastery, authenticity, and energetic alignment.
Closing Wisdom:
"Listen and silent are spelled with the same letters." — Kevin Gates (104:37)
