Hey, that's Joe.
Joe Johnson
Ocho Calamari signed a one year contract with the Minnesota Vikings that will pay him 1.3 million. Remember, he's just done a tick under 37 million still guaranteed from the Arizona Cardinals, which has already been guaranteed. Murray has thrown 121 touchdowns, 60 interceptions and 32 rushing touchdowns in seven NFL seasons that's been plagued by injury. Ocho, are we going to see another Sam Donald story situation? The resurgence, a rebirth we saw that would also. Yes, with Geno Smith, he leaves the jets as a resurgence. We see that with Sam Darnold, he leaves the jets as a resurgence. Can Kyler Murray parlay that success now? The success that Sam Darnold is unprecedented because he had won 14 wins with Minnesota. He leaves Minnesota, goes to Seattle, wins another 14 games and he wins the super bowl on top of that. Can we see that type of resurgence from Kyler Murray?
Co-host / Analyst
I think so. And I think that not only is he going to have that resurgence, we're going to understand why situations matter. Where you go matters, the supporting cast, what they put around you, what they surround you with also matters. And it's very imperative for a quarterback success based on the weapons that's put around them. If you look at all the quarterbacks, you look what Sam Donald was able to do, you look what Daniel Jones was able to do from going for the New York Giants and going to the Annapolis coach. Not winning a Super bowl, but. But seeing the trajectory he was on and how he changed that franchise around in such a short amount of time because of the weapons that, that that were around him. I think Kyler Murray is going to shock a lot of people. I see some of the jokes that are flying, you know, about his height, about him being short. I mean that has nothing to do with playing the quarterback position, especially when you have elite talent around you like he has there.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, yeah, I, this, this was my pick for Kyler Murray from the start when we first started talking about this. Uncle. Ooh. And I was telling you, I was like, man. Cause Ocho was like he wants to see Kirk Cousins go back. I'm like, nah, I want to see Kyler get a chance to, you know, play, have some awesome weapons, play with some great players and I think he'll be great, be great in that offense. Not just for a drop back passer, but a guy who can improvise back there and make something when it's nothing, you know what I mean? I love Kyler in this situation. I think he's going to have much success. You know, I know some Vikings fans, they happy, so good luck to him, man. I'm looking forward to seeing this young dude get back to you.
Joe Johnson
I don't know if you know this, but if you're going to be hard pressed to find a quarterback that's had better weapon than Kyler Murray, you know who he started with? Laughter's Gerald is laughing. Gerald going to the hall of Fame, Ocho. And then he had DeAndre Hopkins. Is DeAndre Hopkins any good? And then he threw the Trey McBride. Is Trey McBride any good?
Co-host / Analyst
He's the best in the league.
Joe Johnson
And now he has Justin Jefferson. So you're going to be hard pressed, Ocho, to find a quarterback that's had more stable weapons than what he's had. His only issue is, and I've said this from the very jump, he is a small man. Injuries have plagued him. I mean, bro, when you're 180, 190 pounds. Okay, let's just say for the sake of argument, Ocho And Joe, he's 200, 200, 5, 9, 5, 10. So they, they, if when they hit you, you hit the dirt, they fall on top of you.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
So that has been his problem, his being able to stay healthy. I believe if he stays healthy, guys, I agree with you guys. I think he can play really, really well. But that is a big if. That is a. That's the caveat. That is the question. Can he stay healthy? Because over seven years, he has not been able to do that, Ocho.
Co-host / Analyst
Right? Yeah. I mean, obviously he had injuries. Obviously, Uncle. You know, that's a part of the game. It's a part of the game. And hopefully being that he's able to improvise like Joe said, they. Being that he's able to play off script so well and he doesn't have to hold the ball that long because of the weapons that are surrounding him now, you name some great individuals. Some great individuals. DeAndre Hopkins. You know, Larry, I forgot A.J.
Joe Johnson
green played there too, didn't he, Ocho?
Co-host / Analyst
Oh, that's right. He sure did. But, but listen, we, we, we're speaking to individuals, right? You know, in singular form. So now you have multiple of those same type of weapons. You know, Justin Jefferson, one of the best top three in the NFL. TJ Hawkinson, one of the better tight ends also in NFL, Jordan Addison. You know who, I think if it was another team, he could be, he could almost be a one. You know, he's, he's, he's borderline one slash, two. You know, he can get, he can get. He can get it done, too. So I'm excited for him. As long as the play calling and the coaches play to Kyler Murray strengths.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
And find a way to hide whatever weaknesses he may have. If that might be a height, so be it. There are ways around that because we've seen Baker Mayfield do it. Baker Ma. Baker Mayfield also shortened height, has had much success.
Joe Johnson
Baker Mayfield has been able to stay on the field. I think you went out, Ocho,
Co-host / Analyst
you.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, yeah. I think the thing is, Ocho, is that again, Baker's been able to stay healthy. Kyler has to be your best ability, no matter whether it's arm, whether you can run four, two. It doesn't matter. You had a huge catch radius. You can block. You can block the guy out of the film. Availability is the best ability because it doesn't have you do any good. If you got a huge catch radius, you can score all these points. You can throw for 500 yards if you're on the sideline. I've never seen a guy complete a pass from the sideline. I've never seen one catch a touchdown, get a sack or block anybody or run a touchdown. So his thing is, he's going to have to find a way to stay on the field. Don't be afraid. Know when the journey's over. Throw that blink on and get out of line. I'm right up out of bounds. Slide down on that turn. You were a baseball player. You the number 8 pick in the draft.
Chad Ochocinco
Slide right.
Joe Johnson
You don't have to. Once you get to this, this, this level, guys, sometimes guys try to prove how tough they are. You don't get to this level without having some level of toughness. I'm gonna pick and choose when I display that toughness. Hey, a fourth down, we gotta have it. Got it. Third down. Gotta have it on Joe. Got it.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
But hey, first to second down, we ain't gotta have that. We got a third week. We got a second down and a third down to get that on Joe. And Joe, no, sir. I think that's the thing that Kyler has to do. He has to stay on the football field big. But injuries, you know, be it knee, be it angle, you know, he tore. I think. I think he tore his acl. Ocho, he had some shoulder issues. He had. He's had some issues that he's going to have to get resolved in order for him to be the type of player, because we've seen flashes of it, Rookie of the year, a Pro Bowler. So we've seen that he's more than capable. He has the ability, even at his small stature, he can get the job done. He just needs to be on the field more often in order to do it.
Chad Ochocinco
Absolutely.
Joe Johnson
What does this mean?
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, what you mean?
Joe Johnson
Top 10 pick? Ocho,
Co-host / Analyst
I told you what I told you yesterday. If Kyler Murray goes to the Minnesota Vikings for one, he's not going to beat out J.J. mcCarthy. J.J. i mean, excuse me, J.J. mcCarthy. He's going to be. J.D. mcCarthy out. Let's start there, right? When Anthony Richardson was with the Indianapolis Colts and they brought Daniel Jones in on a one year, what did that. What did that tell you?
Chad Ochocinco
Insurance.
Co-host / Analyst
It's just. It's the same it's the same deal. It's the same deal. I mean those that understand this business and understand how things work and how things operate and Kyler Murray with his back against the wall on a one year deal for vet minimum, even though the, even though the Cardinals owe him 38 million, he f to play all balls to the wall, you hear me? He gonna have a great season. How could you not if Sam Dar can do it?
Chad Ochocinco
You know, I agree with you. I agree with you.
Co-host / Analyst
So can goddamn Kyler Murray. And I'm not, I'm not saying, you know, Sam Donald obviously a Super bowl winning quarterback, but again, situations matter. And what he did is in Minnesota while he was there. Kyler Murray can repeat that just in a different way because it's a different kind of quarterback.
Joe Johnson
Baker Mayfield is another one that had success after leaving a situation. We saw him leave Cleveland, we saw him leave Carolina. He goes to the Rams for one game, have success and he's had success. Kind of took a little step back, maybe with some injuries. Mike Evans missed a large chunk of the season. Buca ends up tweaking his hamstring. He wasn't the same player, but we've seen Baker has the resurgence. He, and look more, more than adequate, looks like a, a playoff winner even though he did win a playoff game when he was in, in Cleveland. So I think, you know, my, my only concerns is, is that knowing this offense, you're going to probably have to do a little bit more stuff on the, on the move Ocho. Because you got to get him outside.
Chad Ochocinco
Yes.
Joe Johnson
Because he is small. I mean, if you try to make him just throw the ball from the pocket, he gonna be hitting Lyman in the ass with the football because he ain't but so tall.
Chad Ochocinco
So.
Joe Johnson
But the thing is that you can do is that you can. Hey, run some boots with him. Run, go ahead. Oh, no, you can run some booze, you can run play fakes. You look, you can throw. Between lineman Drew. It wasn't like Drew Brees was six, five and the second. He had the second most touchdowns, the second most passing yard, the most 5000 yard passing seasons in NFL. In NFL history. Kyler Murray is, is plenty good enough to get it done if he can stay on the field.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, a lot of people, Joe, and they always talk about his height. And obviously when it comes to the game of football, even if you're short, it's all about finding windows. It's all about finding windows and throwing and throwing, throwing in space, throwing receivers open. So as long as his anticipatory skills are on point. I think they'll be able to do some drop back stuff. Matter of fact, he doesn't even need to be dropped back. Have him in the goddamn gun.
Joe Johnson
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
Give him an advantage having him in the gun so he doesn't have to worry about, you know, what's in front of him.
Joe Johnson
Well, I, I think a snap from under center. Most of these guys, I mean if it's, if it's what, fourth down, o up on the center, but for the most part, damn near everybody in the gun. Now it's a. Yeah. I'm trying to think who, who mainly takes a lot of. I think Ben Johnson makes his guys. I think they, they. Ben Johnson there might be Kyle Shanahan, might be that, that system, you spend a lot of time up under the center, but for the most part now these guys are in, you know, they got zone read stuff called and they're taking shotgun snaps. Yeah, yeah. Khalid said he grew up a die hard fan of the team and cried when Brett Far threw it in the interception in the 2009 championship game. Genuine fandom ran deep. Vikings gear through and through. A lot of purple in my household. I mean, I mean consider he's a Texas kid. You'd have thought, you know, the Cowboys, you'd have thought the Houston Texans. But he said, hey, I'm a vice.
Co-host / Analyst
I mean everybody has a story. Everybody had a story for some reason when they go to a new team
Joe Johnson
for something that was their favorite team.
Co-host / Analyst
That was their favorite team for some reason. Listen, if I see a picture of Kyler Murray and some Minnesota Viking stuff when he was a little kid, I believe that way
Joe Johnson
we, well, we definitely were Steelers fans in my household because I took a picture. I think it might have been third grade in a Franco Harris jersey. So.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, hey, this is gonna be, this is gonna be perfect timing for cow man.
Joe Johnson
All he has to do is just play well. You see what Daniel Jones did, He took a one. Now he took a one year deal. Well, he took a one year deal, 14 million. But he had had the guaranteed money when he went to Minnesota because of the Giants. So now he took the one year deal. Hey, who knows? He can get a, he can get a 50 million dollar guarantee deal next year, a two year deal worth 100 million. He can get a. One of those. Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold's deal, three years plus incentives. I think Sam Darnold maxed out at about $4 million, $5 million in incentives plus an easy 30. So that's 35 million. So he's more than capable. And. And he had him. He had a big deal.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
So now he can't be no more than like 28. I mean. 28.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah, he going, he going to get another one. Hey, listen, definitely going to get away. Think about it, Think about it. You have to be really bad. You have to be really bad to have that kind of support in cash, Joe.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
Still stink it up. Yeah, you just do.
Joe Johnson
No, you got to be really, really bad. If you're a quarterback and you can't find gainful employment, you got to really suck, Ocho. Cause you know how many opportunities? I mean, quarterbacks got like a cat. They got nine lives.
Co-host / Analyst
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Joe Johnson
It's not like other positions after like a couple of teams. You bounce around Ocho, man, you find yourself in the usfl. I mean the ufl. Yeah, a quarterback. Quarterback. Go like, got about seven jerseys hung up on his wall. All of them. He is.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, listen, due to what, due to what Ocho said, you know, with his back being against the wall, you know what I mean? He really, he gotta show up this year. I mean, this is basically a one year deal, especially if you want to continue to play, continue to be a starting quarterback. He gotta show him what he got. I think he'll put his best foot forward, man. He tough. He can play, man. Just sometime perfect timing, you know, the timing, situations, different guys, you know, just somehow, some way, sometimes it pans out for the right reasons.
Joe Johnson
Well, Joe, you were during football season, they played the Cowboys and Ocho and they had beat the Cowboys. But Jacoby Brissette started.
Chad Ochocinco
I say, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joe Johnson
Kyler Murray gonna be hurt a little longer. And I'm not so sure he gonna get that job back when he. When he's healthy.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
And I'd be damned if the coach didn't come out and say, Jacoby Brissette's gonna go to carry it all the way. You know, it's just a matter of time. Here's the number one overall draft pick. He's supposedly healthy. And you mean to tell me Jacoby Brissette. And you know, Jacoby Brissette is not going to take you anywhere, but you feel he gives you the best chance to win on show, you know, after this year.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah, absolutely. And Jacobe was dealing, Joe. And boy, Jacobe was dealing. Putting up crazy, was winning no games,
Joe Johnson
but he was dealing. You find out a lot about Michael Wilson. He can play. He can play. Hey, Marvin, Harry Jr. You got to get on Your game. Cause just because they drafted. Got to get one. The number one.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Michael Wilson is playing like the number one.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, I think he gonna be all right. He just got to get out his head. Yeah, he got to get out of his head. And you know what? I, I don't like. I'm, I'm not a fan of it. That when he was at, when. When Marvin Harrison Jr. Was at Ohio State. Yeah, he had somewhat of a slender frame, and then he went into off season, Unki bulked up, and he was huge.
Chad Ochocinco
You think that took you. You think that took a little bit of his elusiveness away? Ojo?
Co-host / Analyst
I think so. It might. I mean, when you get that big, it take. It take from you. Obviously, you're a lot stronger. You're a lot stronger. But I think for, For. For him and, and what made him great at what he did at Ohio State, you know, he was a lot more fluid and a lot more graceful than what he does, but when you put on that kind of, that kind of muscle.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
You know, just. I don't know.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, I agree with Jojo. I, I, I can't say. I can't say that. You know, his slender flame. He's bigger than his dad. Now, his dad wasn't any size, but he's a lot. I mean, he's a much larger man than what his dad was. And so, I don't know, Ocho. And maybe he thought, Maybe he thought that's what he needed. Maybe he thought the physicality, because the NFL game is a lot more physical. You've got to be able to play through contact. People don't just let you run freely. They gonna see. They're gonna test you. Now I got. I got to see if you can play through this contact. Once they find out you can't play through contact, they're gonna sit right down in the chair in front of you.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, they in your face every time. They in your face every time.
Joe Johnson
You got to prove it. You got guys all of a sudden no show. Ain't got no damn business up in press coverage trying to press because they don't think you can. Hey, we get that. Everybody get a scouting report.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. Yeah.
Joe Johnson
What he can do, what he likes to do, what he likes to run on this side, what he likes to run on that side, his best routes. So you're going to have to figure this go. Have to figure it out. But I hope Kylie, you know, hope Kylie can stay healthy. And I agree with every. I think we're all unanimous up here. If he's healthy, JJ McCarthy is not beating him out.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, I agree.
Co-host / Analyst
Not a chance in hell that boy can play.

Mike Evans spoke on why money was not the biggest factor in his decision to sign with the 49ers. It was just about football. Something that I can be excited about every time I come to Levi's Stadium and see how the crowd is. I see the energy that brings and I see the rich history of the San Francisco 49ers. It just excites me so I feel like I'm giving me a second chance. I mean, excuse me, a second win in my career. And that's why I chose to come here. I want to show that I'm still who people believe that I am and that I'm one of the best to ever do it. I like what you think of Ocho.
Co-host / Analyst
I like it. I love it. And the funny thing about it is you think about what Mike Evans did. 11 years straight electricity, 1,000 yard seasons, right? He Misses one this year due to injury. But where can he go where they throw in high volume much more than they do in Tampa Bay and will put him in positions, you know, to, to be a help offensively. Think about all the one on one situation he's going to get because they have Christian McCaffrey in that backfield. Think of all the mismatches he's going to get because of Christian McCaffrey in that backfield along with other supporting cast as well. But the genius of brother Shanahan and being able to do what he can do offensively, it's, it's a match made in heaven for Mike Evans and things are going to come, going to come a little easier for him offensively over there as opposed to over in Tampa Bay, right?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, I think it's going to be great for him. Uncle Ocho, you know, a guy, you know, probably have somewhat of a little resurgence. You know, I know he has some injuries due to some injuries that he had this year. He wasn't able to get to a thousand yards. So I'm sure he's ready, you know, to get back to being a thousand yard receiver and just showing he's one of the top receivers in the league. So I think it's a good look for him.
Joe Johnson
Another guy that's going to have to stay healthy, we've seen over the last couple of years each. Ocho, he's dealt with hamstring injuries. This year he had a shoulder injury and, and I think the thing is, Joe, and you could attest to this playing as long as you play in the NBA, Ocho, you not so much because you didn't have injuries. As you get older, you get nicked. The Knicks that would normally keep you out a day or two now all of a sudden keeps you down a week or two. And the injured that used to keep you down a week or two keeps you out a month or two. And that's what we see happening to Mike Evans. We saw two years ago. Ocho, it came up. He very, he got the thousand yards at the end and you see with greater regularity. Yeah. And they keep you down for extended periods of time. Go ahead, Ocho.
Co-host / Analyst
Yes. No, I, I was, I was agreeing with, I was agreeing with you, that's all.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, so I, I get it. This is not a good look for, I mean Tampa, they like, they were in prime position. They went two and seven in their last nine games. They went two and seven in the last nine games.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, they, they had a, they had a four or five Game skid, Uncle Joe. Boy, they look good. You hear me?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
Went crazy for like what, a four, a four week stretch? I mean, just, just going dumb. And all of a sudden the goddamn
Joe Johnson
bottom Mike, Evan, was already out. Chris Godwin, I think one of the running backs got nicked. Their problem was defensively, they couldn't generate pressure.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah, yeah.
Joe Johnson
I don't, I don't, I don't care how good. I don't care give a damn who calling the plays. You can't generate a pass rush. You're not winning in this league. These teams are too good. Even with, even if they don't have name receivers, you better put pressure on that quarterback. If you don't put pressure on the quarterback, the average, the average quarterbacks are pick you apart.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
And at the words of John Gruden, the great quarterbacks are gutching.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
So Tampa, I don't know. They got it. They got to get pressure, Ocho. They just. Guys, they got to be able to dial up pressure. I think Todd Bowles is a great defensive mind and you saw what he did when he was a dc but look at the guys that he had that could pressure. Yeah, they don't have that anymore. They don't have that anymore. They get guys here and there, they can get. They can get some, they can win, but you got to win more often than not. And a lot of times, guys, you got to win your one on one battle. I can't scheme up everything at some point in time. Joe, go get me a bucket. Hey, I can't run a pick for you. I can't run no pick for you. I can't run a pin down or flare to have you come up anything. I just want to put the ball in your hands. You go get to your spot, rise up and shoot over somebody. Ocho, I'm sorry, I can't watch the formation. I can't put nobody in motion. I'm just gonna put you two yards outside the numbers. What you like, you like to out, you like to dig, you like the curl, you like to over. What do you. You like to bang. But I need you to go win for me. And sometimes that's what it takes on the defensive side. Miles, I'm sorry, we can't run no E.T. i need you to line up, get to. You get a yard, two yards outside the left tackle, and I need you to get home, son. Yeah, yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
You know, it's funny, Uncle Joe. Hey, Joe. And the way Unc just explained that too. When you talk about some of the Elite players in the league. Only the elite players can do what he just said.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
Only the elite player could do. You know what? I don't need my coach's help this time.
Joe Johnson
Hell, no.
Co-host / Analyst
Coach tell you I need you to get it done for me right here.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
I don't have no tricks. I don't have no scheme. I don't have no tactics. I need you to line up, and I need you to get from point A to point B as fast as you can, no matter who's in front of you. Just get it done. Hey, it's only a few could do that.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, not only that, I need you to do that in the postseason. On call, too.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, absolutely.
Chad Ochocinco
It's only a few who get on. It's only a few who can do that, Fellas.
Joe Johnson
Hey.
Chad Ochocinco
It's only a few like Ocho.
Joe Johnson
They come down there with that, with the sheets on them. Hey, son, what you like?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, that's it. Yeah.
Joe Johnson
What you. What you like?
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, what I like in my. And my first answer to that, what you like? Anything.
Joe Johnson
Whatever you call anything.
Chad Ochocinco
Just give me the rock and y' all get y' all ass out the way. That's what y' all do. Get y' all ass.
Joe Johnson
Whatever you call with 84 is the first option. That's what I like.
Chad Ochocinco
I got you.
Joe Johnson
I like that. Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, anyway. Hey, listen. For me, it was. Any way I can get my ball. I can get my hands on that ball.
Co-host / Analyst
Yes.
Chad Ochocinco
I'm talking about in the postseason. You playing in the. In the playoffs. It's game five, game six. They already know what you running. It's like, hold on, man. Just give me the damn ball. Y' all get. Get out the way.
Co-host / Analyst
I'm.
Chad Ochocinco
I'm a handle it from here.
Joe Johnson
Don't even worry. Y' all doing too much. Cause y' all bunching the formation. Nah, hell nah. Somebody get jammed and I get. Now all of a sudden, I can't get my stride.
Co-host / Analyst
So throw everything off.
Joe Johnson
Now. Let's go two by two. Put me in the slide. As a matter of fact, get a little wider. You know, sometimes. Sometimes people get pressed. Now all of a sudden, everybody jammed up. They don't threw the whole damn time of the thing.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey. Oh, yeah. No, no, don't come say no pic. Cause your damn man gonna trap.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, Joe.
Chad Ochocinco
All right, get back.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, Joe. What's y'. All. What's y'.
Joe Johnson
All.
Co-host / Analyst
What's y'.
Joe Johnson
All.
Co-host / Analyst
Signal for ISO when you call ISO.
Joe Johnson
Get.
Chad Ochocinco
Get out the way. Clear.
Joe Johnson
Clear.
Chad Ochocinco
Clear.
Joe Johnson
Clear.
Chad Ochocinco
Goddamn clear. Flat. Get flat. Just get flat. Don't worry about nothing else. I got the rest.
Joe Johnson
Oh, you like that one? Four. Flat, Joe. One Fold.
Chad Ochocinco
Flat. Hey, get flat. Flat. Yeah. Josh, get your ass in the corner over there. Don't move.
Joe Johnson
Hey, and don't look. Don't worry about it. I ain't gonna kick it to you for no. 3. I'm going to. I'm getting to my spot on this one. I get you. I get you next time around. But. But you know what? But that's what you have to have. You have to have. You got to have a couple of players that no matter what you call Ocho, you feel they can win. And the quarterback, Deal. You can win. He's got to feel. Look, everybody, he's like, oh, I got whoever's open, they lying. They're lying. They got a guy that they know. Nine times out of 10, I'm gonna give him. I'm gonna give him the first man. Why'd you go? To go where? Because I already know. I already know what I got with Ocho. Ocho getting first dms. Unless that guy wide ass open and everybody fell down and pulled a hamstring, I'm not throwing you that ball. I'm not. I'm. No sense of me lying. Hey, hey. Yeah, guys, we in college. We was in college. We play in Central Florida. I never forget. I was a sophomore. Coach Turner get called. Coach Davis called the timeout. Our office coordinator was Coach Turner. And he. He came and said, hey, come here. I was gonna call his first name, name of Ruben. He's like, hey, come here, son. I want you to run hard. You gonna be wide open. Now we about to call 6, 5, 6. I want you to run hard. You gonna be wide open. Now get. Hey, hey. You know, he got his arm around his shoulder. Ocho, he said, I want you to run hard. Cause you gonna be wide open. You gonna be wide open. He pushed him in the game. He told the quarterback, don't you throw that ball to that damn boy. I said, man, I wonder how often coaches have ever said that. Tell you one thing, Ocho. And then as soon as you leave, don't you throw that ball.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, yeah. It happened all the time. It happened all the time. Trust me.
Joe Johnson
Oh, man, those were the days. But I was like, lord.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, hey. Well, you. Are you jogging back memories. You jogging back memories. Hey, hey, Joe, remember, you know, I always used to be miked up, you know, mic me up, Joe. We ain't even have prime time games. They still put a mic on me. Because ain't no telling what I was gonna say. Hey, man, Unk, man, just. Just what you gonna do in the middle of the game? Hey, we'd be in the middle of the game, and I'm not getting no action. And I pick up the phone. You know, Bob Bowski was our officer coordinator at the time, Joe. I pick up the phone. You know, second quarter, I ain't touching. I ain't touched the ball in. In the first.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
I pick up the phone. Hey, Coach Brett, he said, what you see out there? I say, listen, I can see a lot of things, but, you know, I'm like. I'm like life insurance, huh? You know, I ain't no different than birth control. So either one of them, you know, you can count on them. I ain't no different than that. And I leave it at that because I don't want to be aggressive with it.
Joe Johnson
I hate that.
Co-host / Analyst
Okay, come on, man. Come on, now. Hey, come on, now.
Joe Johnson
Oh, yo, don't you hold one whole quarter.
Co-host / Analyst
I'll touch a ball.
Joe Johnson
But y' all see, Joe, y' all didn't have no phone. See, we got phones. Don't you hate when they call down sharp telephone, tell them I ain't in. You ain't throwing me no damn ball off. You ain't been throwing me no ball. What the hell? What the hell? What you want to talk to me for? What? What we talking about? Oh, yo, what we talking about?
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, what they be wanting to talk to y' all about?
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, try. Hey, try to calm you down. That's it.
Joe Johnson
What we practice.
Chad Ochocinco
They see you pissed.
Joe Johnson
That's exactly what I see. What we practice. Yeah. Hey, Because I know how I am. Once I get going, it's hard to get me to stop off the ledge. So I had to do everything I possibly could not to get. Not to get going. So I tried, like. Nah, I, I. I ain't good. I don't want. I don't want to talk right now. I don't want to talk. Hey, hold on.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey.
Joe Johnson
What you told him?
Co-host / Analyst
What do you ask you, what you
Chad Ochocinco
see, what you said, I think I saw in practice.
Joe Johnson
That's what I see. But don't worry about it. So I said, no. Hey, hey. Just no, Just tell him to come to the phone for a second. Nah, tell him I ain't in. I'm going. Hey. Oh, I run right on back. I run right on back on the field. I get you next time around. I'm gonna be okay because, you know, everybody can hear, you know The. The head coach can hear the conversation, so just. Just to make sure. Hey, nah, man. Hey, hey, hey.
Chad Ochocinco
When you get to that level of piss activity, though, boy, it's hard to come.
Joe Johnson
It is, man. It is.
Chad Ochocinco
It ain't nothing that they can say. Y' all ain't threw me a ball all hell, you know what I'm saying? Ain't ready to play my way all game. What you want to talk to me for?
Joe Johnson
They try to gas you up, man. You did a hell of a job on that power. That way. Hey. Oh, that way. The blocking. That 18 straw. Man, get the hell up out of here. That damn 18 strong. Y' all ain't paying me damn money. Be blocking no. 18 strong and no. 16 power. Man, throw me the effing ball.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, look, hey, look. That's equivalent to a cat ain't played the whole first half. But coach come down there instead of tapping them tight. Stay ready.
Joe Johnson
Stay ready. Now we gonna need you. For what, man?
Chad Ochocinco
Come on, man. Come on. You gonna throw me in in the fourth quarter with the. With the intensity through the roof. You ain't played me all game, but you expect me to come in and give you good money? Come on.
Joe Johnson
Hey, Joe. And then when I miss two shots, you snatch me out? Hey, right. Who you got? Oh, hell, no.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, listen, in real time, I've been sitting over here hour 45 minutes, man, for real. And, boy, they throw you in there, they expect for you to get right to it. That's why I tell. I tell cats, These young cats, man, who looking to be pros, bro. Cause you know, everybody ain't gonna be able to come in and get the ball right away and be able to, you know what I mean?
Co-host / Analyst
Oh.
Chad Ochocinco
So listen, for a lot of them who haven't had a chance to have to really wait their turn when they get to the pros, they have to, you know, it's a pecking order, you know what I mean? It's only a few guys, a couple guys who they gonna hand the ball to right away when you come into the league. So it's an adjustment, Uncle Ocho. And a lot of these young cats is hard for them to handle, man, you know what I mean?
Co-host / Analyst
Oh, man, real. Hey, that was funny. Hey, where you shout out, hey, uncle? Where you shout out, hey?
Joe Johnson
I would get frustrated. You. I try to control it as long as I could. I mean, you catch a couple of passes, I'm good. I done got the rhythm now. I done caught me three, and then all of a sudden, they go somewhere else. With the ball. Man, why the F y' all throw it to him? Y' all know damn well he wasn't gonna catch the ball.
Chad Ochocinco
It's a little different than hoops, though.
Joe Johnson
If you.
Chad Ochocinco
If you get. If a dude make two, three. If dude make three, four shots, you know, a next heat check coming. You wanna. You know, you wanna try to get them going.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, but. But, you know, Joe, in football, they said. Oh, Joe, what they say? We gonna spread it around this week. Okay. All right. They gonna spread it around. Now, come four quarters, Ocho Joe, we in a tight ball game. They gonna come in there. Hey, they come out there with a sheet. Cause they ain't got no. They didn't have no iPad. They got the sheets. What you like on it? I like when you get out my face. I would like something in the first or second quarter. Now, you in here now talking about what I like. I would like for you to get out my face before I cuss you out. That's what I would like. What you want me to do? We down 14. They got the ball. It's six minutes left in the ball game. Talk about what I like. I should have told him I like pepperoni and ground beef on my pizza. That's what I like.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, that's how mad you be, though. For real. I swear to God. I know exactly what you talking about.
Joe Johnson
Oh, hey.
Co-host / Analyst
Boy, that bring back so many good memories.
Joe Johnson
Good memories. They bring back memories. They damn sure ain't good. That's probably my. Why my blood pressure. My blood pressure was up.
Co-host / Analyst
Oh, God.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, listen. Hey, listen. Cause real talk, you know, some of them bad games, they leave a stain on your brain, bro.
Joe Johnson
You know, you.
Chad Ochocinco
It's like, I done had some games, you know, you just can't get out your head, like, damn.
Joe Johnson
And then they gonna talk about the money. Yeah. Yeah. We definitely should have got just more opportunities.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, man, get out of here with all that.
Joe Johnson
What I do now.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, listen. That's the worst. Hey, look, that's like the ref coming
Joe Johnson
to you, saying he missed it.
Chad Ochocinco
He fired you a couple times in that first half.
Joe Johnson
That's how I Bad.
Co-host / Analyst
Damn. All right.
Joe Johnson
That's four points. That's two free throws.
Chad Ochocinco
I could have been the guy, man. Come on, man.
Joe Johnson
Oh, man. Like, bad. They need to stop with this. The New York jets quarterback Geno Smith vowed to be better.

That ever in his second stint with the team, Gino said, I still have tons of years left on my body and to play this game and I want to continue to try to maximize it and so believe the jets are getting better players than when I was in Seattle and I know that for a fact. In fact, the jets are hoping Gino can stabilize the quarterback position. They traded for him Tuesday, bringing him back to where his career began in 2013. He was their second round pick that year, became day one starter and started 29 games over his first two seasons before moving into a backup role. When asked about the return to New York, Geno said, I don't think anyone could have imagined that honestly. But that's the beauty of life itself. Yeah, what you thinking Ocho?
Co-host / Analyst
I mean listen Gino going back to New York, we obviously know not very many quarterbacks have had success, you know, playing for the New York Jets. Obviously from top to bottom they've been somewhat of a bad organization and putting the pieces, the correct pieces around to build a winning team, a winning organization for for Geno Smith going back there he gonna have to have an out of body experience every Goddamn week. Hey, Joe. Uncle Joe. He's gonna have to have an out of body experience every goddamn week and elevate all those around him. Obviously you have Garrett Wilson, you have Breece hall back. I'm not sure. Obviously we have the draft coming up. I'm not sure there's anybody in the draft that they can draft that can come in and make an immediate impact and make them that much better. But everything's going to have to be on Geno. He going to have to be much better than he's ever been before. I don't care about what he did in the past. I don't care what he did with Las Vegas. I don't care what he did in Seattle. I'm talking about right now with the New York Jets. Geno Smith is going to have to play his best football to date.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, Uncle Oo. They must got a lot of draft picks, the Jets. I'm saying for them to give up, you know, two of the best defensive guys, you know, from. From last season did what they get in return. Like do Gino got any weapons? Like what are you dealing with Outside
Co-host / Analyst
of Gary, when they. Well, Dallas. Dallas got Quinn and Williams. What did they get for Quinn?
Joe Johnson
They got a first. They got a first.
Chad Ochocinco
Oh, they got. That's what I'm asking.
Joe Johnson
They got two first.
Chad Ochocinco
Oh, okay.
Joe Johnson
They got two first.
Chad Ochocinco
Okay.
Joe Johnson
They got. Remember Ocho, they traded late in the season for A.D. mitchell. So they got A.D. now.
Co-host / Analyst
That boy. Yeah. He could play.
Joe Johnson
They need to. They need offensive line. They need to protect. Yeah. Listen, we can make a. We can make a long story short or we can make a short story long. I'm gonna keep it brief. They need a lot of good players. It comes down to that.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Seattle won the super bowl because they got good players and they got a lot of them.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
You have a scheme. You get players to fit your scheme. Now the thing is, if you got a player that's so like, so. So immensely talented. You know what, son? I'm gonna find something you to do even worry is a prime example. He's a strong safety. He don't play like that. They blitz him. They do a lot of different things with him because he's that versatile. I'm gonna put our best players in the position to make plays.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Jsn I' ma move him, I' ma line his ass up in the backfield and throw him a sale rock for a touchdown. I'm gonna put him in the slot. I'm gonna stack him, I'm gonna zip Motion. I'm gonna do a lot of different things with him. Rashid Shaheed can take the top off it. Okay, let's throw it. Let's run a. Let's run a jet suite. Let's run a reverse.
Chad Ochocinco
Ready?
Joe Johnson
Let's put him on a go ball. The more good players you have, the more things, the more dynamic your offense or your defense is, the better you are as a team. I don't give a damn who your coach is. You don't got good players, man. You wasted your time. Yeah, you wasting your time. And the jets need a lot of good players. They're bad. They're poorly constructed, they're poorly run organization. There ain't no way around that. I'm not breaking news to anybody. Y' all know that. For you to be bad that long, everybody's turned it around except them. Everybody's going to the playoff. When last time the Jazz made the playoffs when they had Mark Sanchez was the quarterback, hell, that was like 2009.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. It's about their time to come back on around, man.
Co-host / Analyst
They had a crazy defense back then, boy.
Joe Johnson
Yes, but look with that. Look at the defensive players that they had. They had Crow, they had Reavis, they had David Muhammad, Wilkinson. Look at, look at, look at the players that they had. I think. I think Pace, Calvin Pace was on that team. Look at the players that they had. Yeah, they ain't got that now. Yeah, they were a run first team. They pound you ground and pound. That's what they called it. They had Damon, Woody, Hair got Brick. They don't have that. So until they figured. Until they figured that out and get better personnel, you ain't gonna do nothing. You're not right. League is too good. And there is no defensive coordinator, offensive coordinator, no head coach. Ocho. That can overcome talent. If you are in a talent deficit, you are going to get beat. Yeah.
Co-host / Analyst
Absolutely. Absolutely.
Joe Johnson
Ocho. Bears general manager Ryan Polls confirmed today that the team was interested in trading for Max Crosby. It. Before he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens, a deal that ended up being called off. We were involved. We checked in, we looked to see if. If it made sense. Paul said had some dialogue. I'll leave it at that. Ocho does.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Crosby end up staying at the Raiders this year.
Co-host / Analyst
You know what? Hey. Hey, Unc. At this point, I'm not sure. At this point, I'm not sure. Especially when a situation like this happens, one that I've really never seen before. I'm sure it's happened before. Not the date since I've been involved with the NFL. But for the Ravens to decline in trading for Mac Crosby and sending him back to the Raiders, what messages does that send to the other teams?
Joe Johnson
Especially he ain't going for no first round picks.
Co-host / Analyst
Right. Especially for the team that are in contention that would, that would want a player like Matt Crawley who's going to make an immediate impact if healthy. Well, hell, even if he's not healthy, he made an impact when he wasn't healthy as well. So we saw what he did when he was obviously injured. But I don't know Unk at this point, most of the time I'm able to say, you know what, it's for sure he's not going to be a Raider. But once he went back and I'm thinking depending on this just decreases his value.
Chad Ochocinco
Why wouldn't the Raiders want him back though, Uncle Ojo?
Joe Johnson
Well, I think the thing is what Joe, when they started to build this roster, they anticipated him not being there, so they signed it. A lot of players in, they thought they was going to have his 30 plus million dollars off the out the books.
Co-host / Analyst
Off the books.
Joe Johnson
And so they were thinking also draft compensation. Now all of a sudden we got two first rounders, two this year, two next year. Now they got one this year and one next year which is their own. So they were like okay, we're going to build this team and I like this and I image Clint Kubiak and spy check and but what it does, it's just like anything once somebody tells you like hey this is damaged. He not getting to it. He's not going for two first rounders. He's not.
Chad Ochocinco
So what I'm asking is does he does his salary still.
Joe Johnson
No, no, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, he back on their books. Yeah, he back on their books even
Chad Ochocinco
though they didn't sign the mother. Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Yes, yes. So you got to factor that if
Chad Ochocinco
they keep him then they probably, if they gonna have salary problems basically.
Joe Johnson
Well, probably they could, what they could do is convert that, put boardable years, add two years and then turn into, turn a large chunk of that into a signing bonus. You kick the can down the road, but you give yourself some relief right now.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
And that's what you see. You see what the Cowboys did with Rashawn Gary Ocho. They added a couple affordable years, took his number down. Now he, they freed up $13 million in cap space.
Co-host / Analyst
Yep. They front loaded. Yep.
Joe Johnson
It's a bad situation. I feel bad, I feel bad for Max. I feel bad for the Raiders because I can just imagine Ocho, you're in the building. Just imagine you're in the building and they tell you it's not gonna happen. What, the knee. Yeah, we know, but we see some degeneration that we think is gonna be long. That's. That's further along than we'd like.
Co-host / Analyst
Right.
Chad Ochocinco
Man, can y' all imagine what that feeling is like? Like, you know, having to go back to your team? It's almost similar to the Dom Connect situation for the Lakers.
Joe Johnson
Yep, that's exactly right. You. Yeah, yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
You know, they trade him to Charlotte for that Mark Williams cat, and he failed his physical, and then Dalton connect had to come back. Man, that's got to be a. It's got to be a messed up.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. Hey, you know, hey, hey, Joe. Ocho. Hey, I'm gone. That's new thing over here. I'm going with her then. She put you out, baby. I'm back. You know, I would just. I would just play it.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, long as they check clear on the first and 15.
Joe Johnson
You go. You go back, though.
Chad Ochocinco
I'm back. Hey, I'm back. Hey, hey, look, y', all, we can play two on two at practice. 303. Whatever y', all, we need to do to keep everybody right. But listen here, boy, please. I'm trying to crank this rotation, I think.
Joe Johnson
And the thing is, look, Ocho, we talked about it. Joe, we talked about, say, hey, Chicago. Chicago should make a play for it. Cause he definitely.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
In that division with the quarterback play. Jordan Love, Jared Goff. You need somebody that's going to pressure the quarterback consistently. You certainly can consistently pressure the quarterback. I like. I like the Bears. That offense is only going to get better. Caleb Williams is only going to improve.
Co-host / Analyst
Only going to get better.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. So now I need somebody on the defensive side that. That I know can win 101. And he's tremendous at the run. I mean, there are a lot of guys that can rush the quarterback, and a lot of times, guys, they want to rush the quarterback because that's how you make big money. Run stuffers at the end, they don't make no money. Guys that get the quarterback, guys that protect the quarterback, left tackle the guy that go attack the quarterback. Edge rushes. That's where the money is. Because somebody. Hey, somebody got to protect the cashier. The ball. The ball, that's the quarterback. Somebody got to protect it. The bank robber, which is to rush in. Somebody got to be able to get in there and get out. That's why you see the Miles Garrett and the T.J. watts and all the, the Aiden Hutchinson and the Michael and the Michael Parsons. Now you see the 38, 40, 46 million dollar guys and Laramie Tunsil making 30 million, 31 million to protect the blind side.
Chad Ochocinco
Big money.
Co-host / Analyst
Oh yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Changes.
Joe Johnson
You got to
Chad Ochocinco
ocho that type of money there for game changer man.
Joe Johnson
Oh yeah. That's why I say I can make a case that LT is the greatest player to ever play the game because he made two position famous, the left tackle and the edge. Nobody else can say they made two position famous. He did because if you didn't have a left tackle, you couldn't beat the Giants. And then everybody went and got an LT where you think the mouth. Even though Miles is an end, he's an edge. LT was a three, four, he was a stand up linebacker. So all these Derrick Thomas and Devon millers and the T.J. watts, all these guys that you see the, the Andersons who you think that came from the left tackle. When you see the Laramie Tulsa and, and, and Big T Dub and my A lotta and all these guys where you think they got it?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, the Giants.
Joe Johnson
Cause if you couldn't do it, you couldn't do it with lt. You couldn't beat the Giants. You couldn't. Joe Gill, Joe Gibbs changed his entire offense. He brought in the H back because they couldn't do anything with lt. So it's like, hey, we got to get an extra tight end on the field. JoJo Kobe, Jim Lachey, all them guys, all those guys, Gary Zimmerman, Steve Wallace, everybody in the NFC went and got a left tackle to deal with him.
Co-host / Analyst
He was the real deal.
Joe Johnson
And then after that everybody started getting a layot. You got an Andre Tippett, you got a, a Cornelius Bennett, you got a Derek Thomas. Everybody started getting those guys. That's how good he was. All right, Joe, this is gonna be right up your alley. He head coach Eric Spolster broke the people criticizing Bam out of bios historic 83 point game. Spo said, I'm not losing sleep over what people are saying, what's ethical or not. I would do it 10 times out of 10 again for Bam. I'm apologizing to nobody about this. I think, I think most of the people that probably made comments, they didn't watch the game. That's irresponsible, unethical. You don't even understand the context of the game. Joe, take it away, man.
Chad Ochocinco
Look, I'm with Spo apologizing for what many men had 31 in the first quarter. Uncle Ocho. Hey, look you probably look up. You probably thinking yourself, oh, I got 31 in the first quarter. Oh, we. I'm pro. I'm for sure gonna get 50 today.
Joe Johnson
Yes.
Chad Ochocinco
You know what? I kind of got this thing going then. You know, once you get to a certain point, your teammates gonna start gravitating, trying to help you out. That's just part of it, bro.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
You know what I mean? And I think that's why it took such criticism, because of how he got it. Meaning, like, how they were kind of basically force feeding him. But I'm cool with that. Like, man, 83 points, bro. Come on, RKO. Joe.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah, hold on.
Joe Johnson
So they talk about, oh, the weather's not any good. They make it seem, man, ain't been good all year. The whistles ain't been good since they were the Bullets. So.
Podcast Host / Announcer
Right.
Chad Ochocinco
And we.
Joe Johnson
And the thing is, like, right, Joe, he had 31 in the first quarter. Didn't he get another 12? I got 43 at the half. At worst case scenario, I'm getting 60.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, hold on.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, you think it's 60.
Chad Ochocinco
You got.
Joe Johnson
Hold on, Joe. Joe, I got. I got 19 and third, I got 62. Now with 12 minutes to play, I'm
Chad Ochocinco
thinking about catching Kobe.
Joe Johnson
Thank you, Joe. Thank you.
Chad Ochocinco
I'm thinking, hey, hey, hey. I'm thinking now I'm thinking Kobe had 81. I got 62 with 12 minutes. Hey, boy. And with a little help from my teammates, I'm out there like, Bam playing wide receiver.
Joe Johnson
They got three dudes guarding. Hey, hey, hey. I ain't playing no defense. All I'm doing is snowball. I'm cherry picking. Hey, get to the basket. I'm taking off. Hey, throw it down there and hit me one of them hail Marys.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, think about it, bro. Like, that's. That's legendary. Because obviously, you know, we. We hadn't seen Will, but we know Will got a hundred points. Yeah, man, can you after, like, from
Joe Johnson
Joe, not to cut you off, but people say, man, will they score no 100 points after seeing Bam get 83? Everybody said, yeah, Will got 100 after they saw Bam get. Right after they saw Bam get 83. Because you got to realize, right, Bam's averaging 19, 20 points a game. So you got 63 more points than what you average, Bam. Career high might be 40, 41, 42 points. So now you got 40 plus points more than your career high.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, Will. Yeah, I think.
Joe Johnson
I think 78. A 73. 2. No, Wilt had a 70. He had a 71. A 72. Well, I think the 72 came in 62. 61. But Wilt had like three 70 point games that year. 78, 100, a 73 and a 72. So he had four 70 point games in one year.
Co-host / Analyst
That's crazy, man.
Chad Ochocinco
Listen, it's because Bam is in what we would necessarily call a score. But he got a nice package. He got a nice bag. Uncle Ocho. Hey, look, the man down there in Miami living, right? Him and Asia, they. They Big boo loving. He. He having a good time, man. Hey, I'm happy for him, man.
Co-host / Analyst
You know? You know, it's funny, Uncle Joe, is. Is those that actually play the game of basketball, whether it's. Whether it's coaches, whether it's former players, whether it's current players, I mean, their. Their reaction to it has. Has not been very supportive. You know, if you've heard most of the comments. And I mean, I'm. I'm somewhat confused. Obviously. 83 is 83. No matter how you splice it, no matter how you try to move the goal post, no matter how you try to explain it, it's. It's history. I mean, just. And the fact that I said it yesterday, Joe, talking with Unc and if. If Kobe was here, Kobe would be the first one celebrating it. Man, we have all these Kobe fans that are mad, that aren't even thinking like k. Kobe celebrates a milestone like that. Absolutely not tripping off someone breaking a milestone.
Joe Johnson
It'd be a congratulations Kobe if he had passed in. If it was. If it was Joe Johnson. If it was anybody else other than Kobe, it would have got applauded now, Joe.
Chad Ochocinco
Right.
Joe Johnson
You was in the league when Kobe shot 50 times that last game. Ain't nobody say nothing. 50 shots. What?
Chad Ochocinco
He finished with 60s on 50 shots.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. Ain't nobody said nothing. Boy, what a performance. You see Kobe?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
What were they doing? What was his teammates doing, Joe? Throwing him the ball?
Chad Ochocinco
Nah, they was. Yeah, they was force feeding, considering that.
Joe Johnson
I want to pull up the. I want to pull up the. What you call them, because I want to see something. Because I want to see how many shots his teammate shot. Because when somebody shoot 50 times, Joe, you might get what, 80, 85 shots in a game and you got 12.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Playing and one guy shoot 50 times. How many the others get?
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, hey. What I think, though, Unc, is the fact that everybody knew that was his last game.
Joe Johnson
They.
Chad Ochocinco
They wanted to see him go out. They wanted to see him go out with a. I mean, hell, that's a Kobe like game. 50 dang. He shot 50 times. Like, ain't. Who else gonna shoot that many times, bro?
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
You know what I mean?
Joe Johnson
No. Yeah. Okay. So he was. He was 22 of 56 of 21 from the three Hurtus had had. Okay. Julius Randall was one for four, Roy Hibbert was two of three, Jordan Clarkson was six of ten, D' Angelo Russell was four of ten. Kelly had zero. Shots. Shots. Tim Platt, Tim Black was two or three, Larry Nance Jr. Was three or three and Herta Hertas was one or two. So they took 85 shots.
Chad Ochocinco
They understood the assignment.
Joe Johnson
Ain't nobody have a problem with it. Bam. Teammates understood. SPO told him, let's see how far he can take. Let's see how far he can take it. It. I'd have been pissed if they took him out. I ain't gonna lie to you, Joe and Ocho, I'd have stayed the whole game because now I'm gonna try to get 90. It's a minute and 24 seconds left, Joe. I'm gonna. I ain't gonna lie. I'm gonna try to get 90. I ain't lying.
Chad Ochocinco
Might well stay in there the whole game. Don't just settle for 83. You saying keep going.
Joe Johnson
I had a conversation. I had a conversation with Ozzy and Brian Billick about Jamal Lewis. Jamal Lewis had 295 yards, Ocho, and they took him out of the game.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
You mean to tell me y' all can't let that man get five yards? If somebody break 300, I want to be the first NFL player to rush for 300 yards in an NFL game. They took the man out with like five, six minutes left in the ball game. Talk about. I don't care. 300. Do you understand what 300 mean, Ocho? In an NFL game?
Co-host / Analyst
Oh, absolutely.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, listen, even. Even the Saquon Barkley thing, when he could have broke the running back record and they. And look, look, it ain't no giving. You gonna get back there.
Co-host / Analyst
You.
Chad Ochocinco
He didn't have no.
Co-host / Analyst
As you can see the next year.
Chad Ochocinco
You see what I'm saying?
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
You gotta take advantage of those moments.
Joe Johnson
We had the same thing. We had the same situation. Ocho and Joe with TD to get 2000 TD needed like 177 yards. Last game of the season, we got everything sewn up. They at the A. The Lion. Say we want to get it. Say we want to be in the record books. All right, let go. Let's go get it. He went. Guy, I think he went. Got 187.
Co-host / Analyst
Damn.
Joe Johnson
Yes, but, bro, history. History. I still think about it today because if you remember, Ocho, Adrian Peterson broke Jamal's record. He ran for 296.
Co-host / Analyst
That was his rookie year.
Joe Johnson
If you break my. Look here. If you go for 301, I'm good. But guess what, Ocho? I was the first guy to rush for 300 yards in an NFL game.
Co-host / Analyst
In an NFL game.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. Look, Brand Brocklin is the. Is 500. His record is 550. 52. 50 something yards. The first. There's something about the first people gonna come behind you. I don't know who's the first person to have a diamond, a diamond album. But guess what, Ocho? I was the first. Yeah, there've been a lot of diamond albums. Mariah Carey got a couple. Whitney, Michael, Beyonce. Yeah, I was the first. If I'm. Like I said, if I'm. Bam, I got 83.
Chad Ochocinco
I ain't lying.
Joe Johnson
Chat. I ain't coming out. I'm trying to get 90.
Chad Ochocinco
I ain't gonna lie.
Co-host / Analyst
The first certified diamond album was Michael Jackson's Thriller.
Joe Johnson
Really? Question.
Co-host / Analyst
Wait, yeah, thank you. The first album, certified diamond, 2 million plus copies by RIAA awarded in 1984 were Michael Jackson's Thriller, certified 20 million, Fleetwood Max rumors, 12 million, and Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, 11 million.
Joe Johnson
That was. That was the first. But Michael sold over 100 million copies, so that thing 10 times diamond. Ain't nobody beating that because they only that. First of all, they down. They. They do what? What? Spotify is streaming now, so. Yeah, you're not buying no. No hard copies. You. It was a thing back in the day, Ocho. To actually go buy the hard copy. You could listen to it. You put the headset on. Put it on. They let you listen to it. You go to a little mom and pop or you go to Tower Records and you could actually listen to the album. Like. Yeah, I like that. Okay, I'm gonna get this. Or they. You could have. Go to Lamar pop shops and they would make you a cassette. They'd make you an eight track. Yeah, I ain't got no problem. And people like. Well, they was filing. Okay. Did anything happen in the game that's not a part of the game? Guess what they do every night in the game? Ojo and Joe foul. Yeah, they was. Were they filing? Bam. They didn't have to file him. They filed him. So he go to the free throw line and he made 36 or 43.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
I don't know what to tell you.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, listen, if I'm on the defensive team, man, I don't know how this man finna get 83 if he had 31 in the first quarter. Ojo first, first off, Uncle Ojo, my defense, my awareness gonna turn up so high, I'm gonna start denying, man, you're not from the 83. I've been in the game. The highest I've been in the game. Dame Lillard. This. I was playing in Utah. We played against the Blazers when he was in. In Portland. He gave us like 62.
Joe Johnson
Damn.
Chad Ochocinco
Look. Yeah, I know Ocho, he was. He was cooking. We couldn't. I'm talking about. But these three. Oh, yeah, yeah, everything. We couldn't contain him in the pick and roll. He going by guards, he just getting with. Getting what he want to. So in this same game, bro, I go over 20,000 points for my career. I'm thinking to myself, say, I already knew this coming to the game, I needed like 13 points to go for 20k.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
So I went on, got mine out the way. First half, I went on, got mine out the way. Uncle Ocho. Yo, man, this joker done went from 62. I'm thinking to myself, how in the hell I'm get the ball? This dude went for a career high 62. Lo and behold, after the game, man, the ball boy brought me the ball. He, you know, Dame told him to bring it to me. I thought that was cool. So it's like, you know, I thought that was pretty cool on Dame part.
Joe Johnson
But we've seen Dame explode like that. Dame got a 70 point game. Dame could have got. Because I remember calling him. I said, bro, why you didn't. I say, why you didn't go for 80? He like, sharp. I was trying to get 80. He said, man, you saw, they started doubling. Hey, they were leaving other men wide open. They were doubling and tripling him in the back. But I think he. I think he ended up with like 7172. I called him, I said, Y. You gotta get 80. He said, Man, I was trying.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
And he was cooking. And so the. The thing is, Joe, I think the biggest thing O and Joe is that who did it. You thinking somebody that that's a score that's gonna get a number like that? Because when you see numbers like that, you see David Thompson or you see Luca, you see somebody with 70, those are scores. Bam is not a score. Yeah. And he got 83, of all people.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. That's why everybody's so shocked.
Joe Johnson
Shocked.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. I'm sitting here, I'm. Look, I'm Looking across my. It came across my phone.
Joe Johnson
I'm like, you got what? A buddy of mine text me, say, dan. I said, Bam. Got 31 in the first quarter. I said, he'll probably end up with, like, 50, 55, right? He said, well, he got 40. He did. He takes me back and say, we got 43 at the half. I said, well, let's readjust that. So let's. Okay, go get at least 60, because I'm thinking now, yeah, if you get 10 and 10, that's 20, that's 63. He said he got 62 at that. I'd like 62 and three quarters, I said. I said, well, 80s in play now.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
And I.
Chad Ochocinco
Damn.
Joe Johnson
He sent me back. He, like, 81. And then all of a sudden, it started bubbling again, you know, like some. Another.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joe Johnson
I was like, well, damn, 83.
Chad Ochocinco
I don't care how you cut a slice of fellas. That's impressive, man. Oh, yeah, that's impressive.
Joe Johnson
83 points.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, listen. Cause, you know. You know. You know what? Uncle Ocho, you think about it, he really took. If he shot 40, what, three.
Joe Johnson
43 throws, right? And. And 43 shots.
Chad Ochocinco
He took. 86 shots.
Joe Johnson
He took.
Chad Ochocinco
You got to be in shape to do that, man.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah. Hey, you think. You know, he played the. He played the next game, or do you rest?
Chad Ochocinco
He played tonight.
Co-host / Analyst
What he had tonight, about 20.
Joe Johnson
I think he.
Chad Ochocinco
I think that.
Joe Johnson
I think.
Chad Ochocinco
I don't even think he had that for real. They won, though.
Joe Johnson
They beat the book. I think he had. I think. I think he had, like, 17. I think he had, like, 17, Joe. Yeah. He ended with 21.
Chad Ochocinco
21. He ended with 21.
Co-host / Analyst
Okay. Hey. Hey, Joe.
Chad Ochocinco
What's up?
Co-host / Analyst
Hey. They canceled the Magic City thing, man.
Chad Ochocinco
I know, bro. They still got the game. TI performing in half. I. I still got the tickets. Now what you.
Co-host / Analyst
Oh, I'm coming. I ain't.
Joe Johnson
What?
Co-host / Analyst
I'm coming. What you mean?
Chad Ochocinco
Okay. Okay.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah. I don't. I don't. Bought my little ticket off. Off a spirit. I'd be there.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. I got you, man. We good.
Co-host / Analyst
Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. You sure you don't want to join us at the game?
Chad Ochocinco
No, I don't got surgery, man.
Co-host / Analyst
He can limp out there.
Chad Ochocinco
No, you need to get right so I can. So I can get him in that. Get him in that cornhole. Get him in that corn hole.
Co-host / Analyst
There you go. Hey, young. There you go talking. There you go.
Chad Ochocinco
I just said get him in the cornhole. He won the cornhole. I want my get back in there, you know, I know he'd be at home practicing in the backyard when he out there with the dogs. I already know what going on.
Joe Johnson
I'm trying to show you something, guys, because the people.
Chad Ochocinco
What you got, man?
Joe Johnson
Put it zero in on that. When I say my buddy was. Who you got texting me who you could y' all see that?
Co-host / Analyst
Not really.
Chad Ochocinco
Damn, bro. Said 71, and then he put 81,
Joe Johnson
and then soon it started building again. 83.
Chad Ochocinco
He did. He said 83. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joe Johnson
Guys, Y' all think people. I know. Look, I know the Internet because you got AI and people lie so much. Bro, I ain't got to lie. What I wanna. What. What do I get? I just want to know. Chat. Tell me what to. The guy wrote, tell me what I get out of my life. Oh, Joe. And I did.
Chad Ochocinco
I found.
Joe Johnson
I got another famous number. I got Justin Timberlake's number in my phone too.
Co-host / Analyst
Okay, Okay.
Joe Johnson
I was looking like, well, damn, I forgot I got jt, but I. I think that's the biggest thing. But check this out, Joe. Gordon Hayward said, I think Bam is one of the best two way players in the league at his position, but he's not a scorer, right? So for him to break Kobe's record, I don't think it's great for the league. I think it's kind of highlights how they're already struggling. It kind of feels like a pickup game when you're watching. And for him to shoot 43 free throws and 22 threes when that's not what he does, it almost feel like. And again, the Wizards, too, with all the teams tanking, it kind of makes it feel not legit. Ocho Joe.
Co-host / Analyst
You see what I mean? Joe?
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, man. Hey. Like my grandma said, if you ain't got nothing good, say, don't say nothing.
Joe Johnson
Thank you.
Chad Ochocinco
Nah, for real. Don't say nothing at all, man. Stop trying to diminish what this, man. And done. We got.
Joe Johnson
We.
Chad Ochocinco
We got a lot of people hating on him that I wouldn't expect to hate to be coming from, you know what I'm saying? Like, 83 is 83, bro. Like, unless he took 80 shots. You know what I'm saying? Like, the man, he. He had it going, man. He had a good night regardless. If he shot 43 free throws, so what? To get 83 points in the game, man. Like, did they file it?
Joe Johnson
The question is, I want to know, Ocho Joe, did they foul him? Were those files Gordon Hayward, anybody else said he shot 43 times? 43 free throws. Did they foul him? That is the question. Because last I checked, when Naismith wrote it, he wrote files in there. And if you went over certain number you got to shoot free throws, or if you're in the, if you're in the active shooting, you shot free throws. So. Or, or if you had five, three, five files. So the question is, were they filing? Bam, yes or no?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, yeah, they were filing. They couldn't, they could not do nothing with that, man. Do you hear me? I'm talking about Uncle Ocho. The man was in his bag. Like, I knew he had a nice little handle, you know what I mean? I knew he had a nice, he looked like. I'm talking about the way he was coming down, shooting threes, getting in this bag. I'm like, thank you.
Joe Johnson
I said the same thing. I said the same thing when they showed it because they showed somebody, I think what you call them, they showed all 31 of his points in the first quarter. On Twitter at. And I'm like, well, damn, Bam, hold up. How you come on, take three dribbles past half court and pull up from three. That ain't your game. But when you, man, look, just like when you had those back to back 200 yard game. When you in that zone, ain't nothing
Co-host / Analyst
you in there, hey, look, look, look.
Chad Ochocinco
I'm like, hold on, bro, you've been teasing us when you got all this in your bag, you give us 83. Come on, man. Like, you know.
Joe Johnson
But what did he say? What did he say, Joe? He said the same thing. I think Bam is one of the best two way players in the league at his position. But he's not a score, you see because of who did it. If Dame Lillard get this record, If Steph Curry, James Harden, Luka Doncic. Yeah, somebody that's known for scoring. Kevin Durant. Yeah, but because it's Bam. What was Bam high? This. I mean, this year, Bam high this year might be 30. And to go from a high 30 to 53, to add 53 to that is just crazy.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, it came, it came out of nowhere.
Joe Johnson
You look at the guys, because you look at the guys that got those numbers, those guys are scores. Everybody that's up there, Wilt was a score will average 30 and 23 for a career. You look at, look at James Harden, it's known as a scorer. You look at David Thompson was a score. Michael Jordan High was 69 a score. Kobe's high 81 score. You look at guys that Luka Doncic is a score. Dame Lillard is a score. We look at Bam, we think about. Bam is a two way player. He'll get a. He'll give you somewhere. 15 to 20 ain't gonna give you somewhere between 8 and 12 rebounds. That's what he is. Great two way player, can play defense, can play on ball, defense can play help side defense can rebound the basketball. It's just so unlike him. Anybody. Him. Joel Embiid will score. We don't look at Bam as a score. And so that's what's throwing people off. But it happens sometimes. Guys have out of body experiences. Look at Flipper. If somebody said, well, who got the most receiving yards in a single game? Mocho. Hey, somebody, they're gonna say Megatron. They're gonna say Randy Moss, Jerry Wright to. It's Flip. Little old flip.

Yeah.

Six foot, 180.
Co-host / Analyst
Well, you went crazy, bro.
Joe Johnson
But I ain't. I ain't gonna lie. I ain't losing no sleep over it. Hell, I've been. I've been watching it. I watch. I'm like, well, damn. Cause you don't know. But I. I ain't coming out. I'm. Good night. I'm gonna try to get 90. Keep doing what y' all doing. Yeah, that game would have just been ended. Hey, I go get Joe Ocho, you seven points away from 90. I mean, you think. Can you imagine if that dude would have got 90? Now? I want somebody to get 90 points
Chad Ochocinco
for whatever reason. It just feel. It feels strange, but I feel like it can happen, you know, you just. That first quarter obviously gotta be special. You know what I'm saying? That first quarter, special. If you can get 26, 30 points in the first quarter.
Co-host / Analyst
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Then you thinking like, okay, boom, in half. If I could have 43, 42, 45 and half.
Co-host / Analyst
Hey, you got a good chance, bro.
Chad Ochocinco
I know I'm getting 50.
Joe Johnson
Ocho.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
It's like. It's like when you remember when Tyreek. Tyreek had those 200 yards in the first, like, in like five catches against Tampa? Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
I said, oh, yeah.
Joe Johnson
Oh, he about to break this. I'm thinking he about to break the record. You got 200 and you got a whole half to go. So I just knowing, you know, it's like anything you get going and you just like, oh, yeah, it's one of those days. And you just. Yeah, I ain't. I. Look, I understand y' all can be mad. All you want to. Guess what, I'm in the record. And look, there might be somebody. Somebody might break Wilt's record and there might be somebody get 90 and push me down to three and somebody might push me down. I might at one point in 50 years from now I might be 10 but this is what I know. I scored 83 points in an in be a game. That hey that's nasty word Everyone deserves to be connected.

Main Theme:
The Nightcap crew—Shannon Sharpe, Chad Ochocinco Johnson, Joe Johnson, and their co-host—break down the biggest sports moves and controversies of the week, focusing on Kyler Murray signing with the Vikings, Mike Evans prioritizing football over money with the 49ers, Geno Smith's return to the Jets, the wild Maxx Crosby trade saga, and Erik Spoelstra’s unapologetic defense of Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point game.
Discussion begins: [06:41]
Theme: Can Kyler Murray revive his career in Minnesota, following the examples of Geno Smith and Sam Darnold?
Contract Details: Kyler signs a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Vikings, while still owed $37 million from the Cardinals.
Support System: Minnesota offers Murray a strong ensemble of weapons—Justin Jefferson, TJ Hockenson, and Jordan Addison—which prompts comparisons to the arsenal he had with Arizona (Larry Fitzgerald, DeAndre Hopkins).
Panel Skepticism & Hope:
Underdog Narrative: There’s a consensus that if Murray can stay healthy, the blueprint is there for a resurgence. But availability remains the major caveat.
Discussion on Height & Playcalling: Murray’s size is a constant talking point; hosts agree that play-calling should minimize his weaknesses (like being under center).
Roster & QB Competition: There is doubt that rookie J.J. McCarthy will threaten Murray, provided Kyler is healthy.
Discussion begins: [27:32]
Theme: Mike Evans explains his decision to join the Niners isn’t financially motivated but inspired by football culture and a “second wind.”
Evans’ Motivation: Cites Levi’s Stadium energy and Niners history as pivotal:
Panel’s Take:
Tampa’s Problems: The Buccaneers’ decline is attributed to injuries and poor defensive pressure, not just talent loss.
Elite-Player Mentality: The discussion pivots to what truly makes elite players—winning pure one-on-ones even without schematics.
Discussion begins: [47:58]
Theme: Can Geno Smith revitalize the New York Jets and himself?
Geno’s Outlook: “I still have tons of years left…so believe the Jets are getting a better player than when I was in Seattle.” – Geno Smith quoted by Joe Johnson [47:58]
Panel’s Doubts:
Jets’ Roster Issues: Major questions around offensive line and overall talent construction.
Historical Context: Reminiscing about the last time the Jets were contenders during the Mark Sanchez era—emphasizing the need for talent over coaching wizardry.
Discussion begins: [53:31]
Theme: The Bears tried to land star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, only for a failed physical to send him unexpectedly back to the Raiders.
Trade Fallout: The aborted trade leaves the Raiders’ roster and salary cap in disarray; both the player and the team are in an awkward spot.
Contractual Workarounds: Potential for “kicking the can down the road” via signing bonus and void years is discussed as a cap solution.
The Value of Edge Rushers: Explaining why dominant pass rushers and offensive tackles are among the league’s highest earners and how the legacy of players like Lawrence Taylor revolutionized two positions.
Discussion begins: [61:11]
Theme: Spoelstra faces critics over facilitating Bam Adebayo’s historic night, standing firm that he'll “do it 10 times out of 10.”
Coach’s Stand: “I’m not losing sleep over what people are saying, what’s ethical or not. I would do it 10 times out of 10 again for Bam.” – Erik Spoelstra, quoted by Joe Johnson [61:10]
Panel’s Perspective:
Stat Comparison: Panel highlights that Bam, not known as a scorer, doubled his career average that night (from ~20 to 83).
Historical Context:
Criticism Addressed: Gordon Hayward’s remarks about the legitimacy of Bam’s feat are dismissed by the panel.
Notable Anecdotes:
This energy-packed Nightcap episode blends sharp sports analysis with inside-player stories, highlighting the importance of situational fit for athletes, the nuances behind historic stat lines, and why, ultimately, greatness comes from seizing the moment—healthy, prepared, and ready to deliver, even if critics and conventional wisdom doubt it.
