Please drink responsibly and stay safe Mark Cuban is accusing Dallas Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont of freezing the team's former majority owner out of business opportunities and a proposed move of the club out of downtown Dallas Morning News reported today that Cuban alleges Dumont has engaged in adversarial business practices in a bid to move the team about 10 miles north of downtown to the former site of the Dallas Mall, Cuban sold majority stake in 2023 to the family of Miriam Adelson and Dumont, who is Addison's son in law. Cuban said he had an agreement to continue running basketball operations, but Dumont gave former general manager Nico Harrison full control of basketball side Cuban said in the filing he was unaware of Harrison's plan to trade superstar Luka Doncic to the lakers in a February 2025 straight until it was too late to object and call off the trade. Cuban owns 27% of the Mavericks, but the newspaper reported there is a clause in the purchase agreement that allows Adelson and Dumont family to buy another 20% of Cuban state. The filing by Cuban comes a little more than a month after the Dallas Maverick signed an option agreement to purchase approximately 104 acres in North Dallas. Part of the plan is to build an arena in the that would be open in 2031. Joe, what are we to make? Joe no joke Joe going to throw it to you first. What are we to make of this? Seems to me like having a little bows of remorse.

Yeah. Hey look they they Talking about moving the team. Hey, they didn't already, you know, got rid of Luca. The people in Dallas, the people in Texas going to be. They, they gonna be ticked off now, you know, I don't know how much more they gonna be able to take again, Ocho, you know what I'm saying? Because that, that's the. You know, Dallas is a. Is a big market, bro. They got a. They have a committed fan base. You know what I mean? So, hey, I don't know what they got going, but they, they shaking some things up.

Listen, if they, if they shaking things up, I'm not sure how. Whether. I'm not sure where Dallas, the Mavericks are located right now. I'm not sure how far north Dallas may be. But anytime ownership or GMs of people in positions of power want to make a move, obviously is for. For money and economical reasons. I mean, maybe they feel moving to north Dallas, we better for the team long term. I'm not sure what it may be. That's the only thing I could think of.

It seems to me that Mark Cubing is having a little buyer's remorse. He sees the way these prices are going astronomical now. He sold.

And now he sees, now all of a sudden, 7 billion, 8 billion, 10 billion. Yeah, he sees that and he's like, what have I done? What have I done? Because. And I know he said that. Look, I don't want my kids. Put my kids in a situation where they're fighting over this. I'm going to make it easy for them. There's nothing going to be able to fight up over. Excuse me. And so, you know, I'll have this. This will be on the trust. You get this, you get this, you get this. The one thing that will not tear apart, will not tear my family apart, as I've seen it tear so many other families apart. Is a franchise as a sports franchise, be it football, basketball, baseball, whatever the case may be. But now Mark Cuban is seeing the way these, these, these, these franchises are going and what the prices they're going for. He like, damn, Joe, I undersold by 4, 5 billion dollars. It's too late. You don't get. You don't. I don't get to sell Ocho my car. And then Ocho paints like Ocho, why you paint my car, man? I bought it, damn it.

Right, but hold on now, Mark. Mark Cuban, a very savvy businessman with a great understanding of the market, especially the NBA, on how it operates. I think the NFL, the NBA and the MLB are one of the few franchises or just entities in general that would never depreciate. It continues to climb year in, year out, Joe, no matter what. So at what point why would he even have buyers remorse in any shape, way, form or fashion, if you understand that it's always going to continue to rise, is never going to depreciate in any way. I don't understand.

Yes, I. I understand. You know, 2%, 3%, 5% growth over a period of time. Ocho, I didn't expect to sell the thing for 4 billion and now all of a sudden it's worth 8 billion in two years.

Okay, yes, but hey, hey, And. And he didn't expect to the people who bought it, that they would damn get rid of Luca neither. You know what I mean? Like, I don't think. I don't think Mark Cuban had any say so in. In Luca getting traded. Hell, he probably didn't even know if you want me to keep it real.

It was too late. And so, yeah, and by that, by that premise, because he said he had a deal in place to keep running basketball operations. But the owner, Jamal, the son in law of Miriam Addison, who's the wife of Sheldon Addison who passed away, they cut him out. Well, unless if. Look, when you dealing with this kind of money, when you're dealing with. This ain't no handshake. I want it in writing that I'm going to continue to run basketball operations for two years, three years, five years, or for as long as I deem necessary. Because the thing is, you know how it's just like anything, a contract used to be a meeting of the minds. Joe had a farm. He had grain, he. He had stuff like that. I had livestock. I would say, you know what, Joe? I'll give you a couple cows. You give me, you know, corn, you give me wheat, you give me stuff like that. We had a handshake deal. Then all of a sudden, Jodo after Joe don't got my cattle. Joe don't want to come. Come off. Joe don't want to come off the grain. So I had. So now we got to have a contract. We got to have 8 by 10 or whatever is written on the paper. This little square thing you should judge you to say, what is this? What does this say? So clearly he didn't have that. And I think that. I think the biggest thing is, is that because they're talking about these team in Seattle, this team and the owner of the. The Golden Knights, it seems to be he's put a team together. They say this thing can go somewhere between eight and ten billion dollars. Okay.

So that. That limits a lot of people there. And people like, well, now, I mean, to. To get a franchise now, like you said, I mean, you see, they say the Seahawks, it's gonna go somewhere seven and a half, eight, maybe even nine billion. I mean, and somebody has to own 50 of that because they used to be. That's what it's called. It used to be, you know, people tried like, well, you own 25. You want. No, you gotta have somebody that's a majority. Somebody needs to own majority right of it. And so that's. And that's what it looks like to me. Now, I could be wrong, but it. It seems to me is that, bro, you sold it. You sold it. And I know you didn't anticipate

trading Luca, but guess what else you didn't anticipate. You didn't anticipate. And. And we see what happened. And I felt this way. You see what they said about Jalen Brown? They saw what Lucas number was going to be, and I don't believe they wanted to pay that, Joe, based on what you Heard about some of his practice habits, the injury history that he had. You know, they started calling, you know, started reporting he was hookah donchic. And it's like, hold on, this man is 25. By the time this man is 30. We're going to end up having to pay this man 400, 450 million dollars in a contract.

that was his call. But you guess what? Poop rolls downhill. So it had to land on. It had to land on Nico's desk. Go ahead, Joe.

If he had one of them work ethics to where like, you know, you know, like Brian got, for instance, you know, trying to be one of the greats, obviously he a hell of a player, but I just, I felt like Dallas seen the behind the scene things with Luca, and as far as eating habits or whether it's drinking beer after the game, whatever the case may be, and they didn't feel like it was a great investment, bro. At the end of the day, they didn't feel like it was a great investment, so they moved on.

You know what? You know what's funny when I think about it too? Knowing that the Lakers have always had a franchise player. They've always had an all Star. Obviously you have a team like LA, they would have needed someone, even with LeBron being there. They would need someone with the cachet and, and the facial profiling to. To say this is the face of the Los Angeles Lakers, I think a move, and you look at the landscape of the NBA before Luca left, even though he was in Dallas, they needed somebody who was next up that can carry that torch and be in the face of that franchise. I think even if his habits were good, Uncle Joe, even if. Even if he did train, even if he didn't drink hookah or drink beer, you know, coming out the tunnel, whatever it may have been. We know, and we saw that clip, I think he might have still been traded anyway because they needed that piece. They needed that figure in LA to represent, you know, being that star, being that LA always has money, always.

Well, the Lakers, the Lakers definitely needed that. There was a connection between Rob and Nico. Nico was Kobe's right hand guy. Rob Pelinka was Kobe's agent. So there was a natural connection. Now people start to believe it because when the trade happened, what did everybody say? LeBron knew LeBron knew. Come to find out, LeBron ain't no shit. The agents didn't even know. Two people knew. Nico Harrison and Rob Pelinka. It wasn't until the day, it wasn't until the day it was about to get consummated, that Jeannie bus was looped into it. Yeah, hey, we have this. Oh, obviously she's going to agree with it because you can't, you can't, you can't let this get. You can't run the risk, Ocho, of this getting out because now you create a bidding war. Hey, that's all y' all getting. Max Christie, AD and a first round draft pick. We got this player.

What now? Hey, Boston Celtics. We got Jaylen Brown and three first round draft picks unprotected. This team said, we got this player, that player, and five unprotected. You're probably gonna have to go back to Kobe and you're probably gonna have to go back to LeBron.

He's a multiple time all NBA selection and he's a perennial in the running for a defensive player of the year. So he's a phenomenal player. But 25 year old Luca, that's averaging 28 points, he might have, if I'm not mistaken, he has the third highest average behind Jordan Wilt and then Luca points per game in NBA history. If I'm not mistaken, he had the second most highest points per toll game in playoff history behind Jordan. So that's, that's crazy. It is O Joe. It absolutely is.
