Now, he's a Pittsburgh Steeler, so he's had an opportunity to see both sides of the rivalry. Patrick Queen joins us a little later in the show. But first, the biggest news of the day. Ocho. The Browns have released their depth chart. Joe Flacco, I told you. QB 1. Kenny Pickett 2, Dylan Gabriel 3. Shador Sanders 5. Excuse me, 4. But they did bring in because two of the four quarterbacks are injured. Hamstring Kenny Pickett and Dylan Gabriel. And a few hours ago, this is what Adam Schefter tweeted. The Browns are signing Tyler Snoop Huntley who spent part of last season with Cleveland. With Kenny Pickett, Dylan Gabriel nursing hamstring injuries and Shador Sanders having a sore shoulder, the Browns need another arm. Enter Huntley.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir. Talk to me. I don't know what the Browns do. We don't know what they've done the last 35.
Colin Cowherd
Do they know? Are we sure they know what they're doing?
Shannon Sharpe
What they've doing since that franchise has been established, have they figured it out yet? Because the last good quarterback, no disrespect to the quarterbacks that have played for the Cleveland Brown, the last one that has been of. Of. Of decency has been Bernie Kozar, if I'm not mistaken.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, that's in mid-80s, though.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, well, there you go.
Colin Cowherd
Mid-80s.
Shannon Sharpe
There you go. That's no disrespect to any of the quarterbacks that have played there, but it is what it is. We talk about consistency. Have we had one for a decade that we've been able to lean on and build around?
Colin Cowherd
No, you had a couple years. You got a couple of years of Baker. But outside of that, no, no disrespect.
Shannon Sharpe
Come on now. Come on now. So how do. How do we.
Colin Cowherd
How. If that's the problem that you have.
Shannon Sharpe
How are we supposed to trust this organization when it comes to choosing quarterbacks at a position when they haven't figured it out all these years, all of a sudden. Now they got all the. Excuse me. Now they got all the sense. They're supposed to have all the sense. Now the depth chart to me. I'll let you go. The depth chart to me doesn't mean anything. We know Jack Joe Flacker would do when the lights come on. Kenny Pickett had his opportunity when he. When he was drafted to the Steelers. So we've seen the sample size of that already. I mean no disrespect to him. He's not the answer. Dylan Gabriel has success at Oregon when the lights come on. But it's a different ball game in the NFL with them grown men that got mouths to feed. Everyone should get an ample chance to win their starting position. We already know who quarterback money is going to be. We know who that going to be. The depth chart doesn't mean anything. What they trying to do is they trying to break Young Bull. They trying to break him. Huh? That's all it is. From the draft process to getting drafted in the fifth round to the. The owner coming out and saying what he said last week to now. Man, come on with that bullseye, man.
Colin Cowherd
I don't see how Kenny Pickett still remains number two. He hadn't practiced since the 26th of July, if I'm not mistaken. So he's been dealing with a hamstring injury. But when you go out and sign somebody in free agency, I mean, I guess that does tell you they do think highly of him because they signed him. Dylan Gabriel, he's dealing with a hamstring. I guess the worst thing that happened is that we could have found out because had both of those guys been injured. We head into the first preseason game and only Flacco and Shador is healthy. Now it remains to see, to be seen how much Joe Flacco is going to play. If he plays. I'm thinking maybe a series. Ocho, that's tough. Let's be generous in say, a series. Now, that was going to be Shador opportunity to basically take us home. We saw Trey Lance. Trey Lance started the game and played what, deep into the fourth quarter? Hell, he might have finished the game. With that being said, the worst thing that could possibly happen happened for the Browns is that the two quarterbacks that you probably was counting on, they both got hurt and they got hurt early. Now we'll see how soon it remains to be seen. I think I said last night they played Thursday. They played Thursday or Friday. Is it Friday? Okay, okay. They play Friday. They play Friday against the Panthers.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm excited.
Colin Cowherd
Is Shador gonna play?
Shannon Sharpe
Have a choice? This is part of his resume.
Colin Cowherd
But if it showed. But, but, but, but what if he had. I mean, I mean, clearly they don't feel that confident because if they thought Shador was going to be able to go. Would they have brought a P?
Shannon Sharpe
They had to bring. They had to bring somebody else in because Kenny Pickett's probably not going to play, especially with a hamster injury. The game is.
Colin Cowherd
I don't think either one. I don't think two and three is gonna play.
Shannon Sharpe
Definitely gonna play. Listen, the eye in the sky doesn't lie, and they need Shador to put what he can on tape. They need him. What are we going to get? What did we draft? All the work we put in, obviously, going against offense and defense in practice, that don't mean nothing.
Colin Cowherd
Well, you don't expect to get Ocho. How long you expect the 500 call to last think about where they drafted him? Now. Now, clearly, they ain't put a whole lot of resources behind it. So they're not. Let's. Let's. You know what, Ocho? You. We. You know what we do here? We be honest, Chad, you know, when you go by what we used to call when I was growing up, we call it secondhand. When you go buy something secondhand and you spend $500 or you spend $1,000 and as is no warranty, you're not expecting, okay, hopefully get me from point A to point B. They drafted Shador in the fifth round. They're not expecting much of Shador. They didn't, because if they thought that much of him, they'd have drafted him higher. If they thought that much of him, they would have given him a fair opportunity. But that's not what they've done. And I'm like, look, that's their organization. They run it how they see fit. But I don't know in people in Cleveland, I don't know how you would still have trust in this organization considering how many quarterbacks. And every quarterback, they say, oh, he's franchise. He's franchise. You said that with Derek Anderson, and you said that after. Before him. And you said that after him, Baker got injured and you moved on from him. Now, Baker didn't have the weapons that he has in Tampa. I don't think Baker's like, oh, my God, wish I could have stayed in Cleveland. The weather's a lot nicer in Tampa, and there's no state income tax, and he has a great support system around him. With all that being said, I don't think. I don't think it's much like, boy, maybe they bet against.
Shannon Sharpe
Listen, it happens all the time, man.
Colin Cowherd
I don't want to. If I. If Shadow, how does that make me look? If Shador looks well, Ocho.
Shannon Sharpe
Excuse me. The adversity and the obstacles that young Bull has had to over endure in general, he's been. He's been prepped for this. He's been prepped for this. Oh, they're against me. Since he got drafted, when he dropped in the fifth round, he already knew what time it was. When your opportunity gets there, when you get your opportunity, you have no choice but to shine. You have no choice. They're betting against him not to do well.
Colin Cowherd
Right? But if you want me to win the race, oh, you got to put me on a fairbread like everybody else. You can't give me a clydell and say, go win this race. If he. Let me ask you this. When he is in the game, is he going to get the first team offensive line? Because that's what. When they want to. When they want to give you a serious look, Ocho, you and I both played this game for a long period of time. When they want to give Guy, when they want to give a receiver a serious look, they let him run with the ones. They don't continually see what he can do with the twos and threes. They give him a fair opportunity with the ones, the number one quarterback, the number one offensive line, and the other one receivers on the opposite side of him. Quarterbacks, when they are running backs, when they really want to see what you can do, they let you run with the 1, the number 1o line. And normally when they pull the offensive line out, guess who else coming out? The quarterback. Because the quarterback, the starting quarterback, is not going to be in there with the twos and threes. The starting running back is not going to be in there with the twos and threes. So I'm going to be very interesting to see. It is the first preseason game and given the way the preseason is done now, starters don't normally play. They don't normally play and they don't play much. So Shadow is going to have to make sure he's going to have to make wine with the water that the well water that has been given. He's not been given purified water, he's not been given bottled water. So he's going to have to make.
Shannon Sharpe
Do with what he has the car that he's dealt with on Friday night. When he enters that game, regardless of what's surrounding him, he's going to make something happen. When he does make something happen, when he's able to make something out of nothing. And this is no disrespect to the twos and the threes and the fours that are trying to make that team, Everybody out there vying for a job.
Colin Cowherd
What you put up for, sure. But you and I both know Ocho, they're only about five jobs up for grab. They know. They know with it. They know within 40 guys, 41 guys. Who's gonna build that.
Shannon Sharpe
Listen, they. They don't know. They don't know yet because what they're. And what they're trying to do, whatever it may be, when he gets his opportunity, all they got to do is knock the door down. I don't care what you put around me, I'm gonna show you I'm gonna get the job done. So imagine if. If I can. If I can get out there and cut up on Friday with threes and fours and twos at my helm, what you think gonna happen when I got the ones? What you think gonna happen when I got. When I got Judy, huh? And Joku and the rest of the boys at my disposal as my weaponry. If I can do this with my threes and fours and twos out here in a preseason game, all he's done all his life is win, huh? That's all he's done. So now you put me in this. In this situation. A little obstacle, a little adversity. All right, I've been here before. Yeah, I got this. Yeah, I've been here before. I got this.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I agree with Joe Cho. I mean, he's never had a situation like this. You don't know what you could overcome until you're faced with it.
Shannon Sharpe
God talking, man. With my pen. Oh, that's a good one. Let me write that down. Wait, don't go too fast. I gotta write that down. I'm gonna put that in my notes.
Colin Cowherd
Hold on. Because, Ocho, hair is a thing. See, strength is not what you possess. Strength is overcoming something that you didn't think. You could see a lot of people thinking, well, I can live this or I can do that. That is not strength. Strength is overcoming something you didn't think you could. He's never been in this situation before. He's been the best. And now he's going to have to that strength that his father has instilled him. His father is very biblical. His father is very into the church, is into the word. All those words that his father has been preaching to him for a lifetime. It will be put to the test, see, like when the devil told judge, yeah, of course, God, he's gonna serve you. You give him everything. Look at the family. Look at the livestock that you have. Look at what you blessed him with. Why would he not serve you? Remove the hedge and he'll curse his very maker. Shador has had abundance of everything. He had a dad that had the resources to get him that opportunity to go learn and study under Tom Brady, to get him throwing coaches and to put him in the best situations. Now, you can recall, you can call on that, the recall. What, What? Tom said this and this guy said that, and do this, do that. But at the end of the day, when you fall on your knees now, because, see, that's what faith is. It's believing even though you can't see it. You see, man says, show me and I'll trust you. God says, trust me and I'll show you.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Shador is going to have to rely on his faith because at this time, yeah, that's all he has. And I'm not so sure that he's not the only one that has it, because I'm not so sure the people in that building have faith in him.
Shannon Sharpe
You can't listen, the people in the building. You got to worry about that. You don't have to worry about that. At the end of the day, if they don't want you. If they don't want you. Let me. Let me put on film. Let me film this is what you got this?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
At the end of the day, regardless of what they do, regardless of where I am on the depth chart, I have a job to do. And I'm going to do it to the best of my ability. Regardless of what you put out there on the field with me on Friday. At the end of the day, it's still football. We've all been playing football since Cream.
Colin Cowherd
Arrived to the top.
Shannon Sharpe
Man, you just took the word right out my mouth.
Colin Cowherd
I've been in Shador. See, I was Shador Sanders before Shadow Sanders just had a different position. I know what it's like. I went to a team that just went to the Super Bowl. Although they got drubbed, they brought every receiver back. Mark Jackson, Vance Johnson, Ricky Natiel, Michael Young. They only keeping five receivers and four. The guys that went to the super bowl are back.
Shannon Sharpe
Back. You're gonna be all right.
Colin Cowherd
So we got. They bring in four or five other receivers. Shannon Sharp's a seventh is a seventh rounder. I know that, but I'm a camp. Supposed to be a camp body. But what you expect out of me and what I expect out of me are two different things. I don't let you set my agenda I don't let you set my expectation. I see you. That's. And that's how Shador has to think. I know what y'. All. I know what you're playing. I know. Hey, in life, when. When Ray told Claw, he said, I know you're thinking something. You got something up your sleeve. Yeah, I know you got something brewing. I ain't got nothing, Ray. I got an ass cutting for your brewing. Shador just needs to be Shador. He doesn't have to be any. He doesn't have to be anything else other than that, Titus. And. And that's good enough. His best is good enough. He doesn't have to be extraordinary. This is now the NFL. It is the league. You remember that movie, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? There are a lot of extraordinary gentlemen in this league, but that ain't what he has to beat out.
Shannon Sharpe
And that's. That's no disrespect to them. Let's just. Let's be realistic.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, they take it how they want to. I'm just saying. Joe Flacco in the year 18, and he's way past the prime. Kenny Pickett. Hey, we'll see. He's hurt. Can't make the club in the tub. Dylan Gabriel, he's hurt.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm telling you what's gonna happen. Hey, one thing about it. One thing. One. One thing about the football guys. You hear me? One thing about the football gods. When they know. When they know, especially. It's funny business going on, the way they moving cream always rise at the top, huh? That's it. I don't care what you put around me. I'm gonna make it work. I'm gonna make it to do. Listen, when you go. When you go to the casino and they dig you, them goddamn cars. You can't control what you dealt.
Colin Cowherd
Hey, you gotta play the hand.
Shannon Sharpe
You got to play it to the best of your ability. That's it. That's all you got to do. Go out there with just straight, straight confidence. This is my team. You got to walk it. Yeah, you got to play like it. You got to walk in that stadium like you own it. You got to walk. You got to. Oh, I see the game y' all playing. Okay, bet. Let me show you something.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, it's. And it's not easy because I don't want people to think that. Oh, he. You never. Yes, yes. There were. There were. There were nights that I would go to bed, and I'm asking myself, am I good enough? I mean, I only got three plays, and I Ain't catch a pass. So if I'm a receiver, how am I getting judged?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, by everything else should do as a quarterback.
Colin Cowherd
He don't get no reps. How is he getting judged? Okay, I can't. I caught one. I called it. Yeah, I called it. And it's like, man, is it. Man, I had this great career at Glenville. I had a great career at Savannah State. And now I'm here in my mind. I'm think. What person doesn't think that he's better than some of the people that he's going against? It wasn't like I was. I wasn't going against hall of Fame receivers. It wasn't Jerry. It wasn't Jerry Rice and my brother and Chris Carter and all those guys out there. That was how I was going to have to try to win time from. But I look, it gave me confidence that John Elway told me I could play in this league. He thought I had the ability to play. It helped me a lot with Mark Jackson. Would tell. Would legitimately tell me what I needed to do. But, yeah, I'm fighting for a job, and we fighting for a job. And the guy told me the wrong route. I didn't know it was the wrong route. I went in there and ran it. Dad reached my ass out. Hey, ask me what the hell I'm running around. Hey, I'm swole. I just knew I ran right. Hey, nice move. A nice slap armor rib that try to. You know what I'm saying, on your eye. Hey, I hit it right quick. Cause, you know back then, you spend too much time dancing in the line of scrimmage. They're gonna come up through your face mask. So, hey, plant chop. I'm over. He blowing the whistle up like, damn. I ain't about halfway through my route. Don't you. What are you blowing the whistle for? Let me get this rock and do something on it. Shannon Sharp, what the hell are you doing? You know me, old smart. I'm thinking to myself, what the hell it look like I do it running this route. What you got on such and such. I think I thought I got.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
What can I say? Somebody told me the wrong route. You're supposed to know. What the hell you supposed to do anyway?
Shannon Sharpe
That. That's. Hey, hey.
Colin Cowherd
Let's learn.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
And if I. If I can remove you out of the way to make my opportunity to get this job easier, guess what I'm going to do? I am going to remove you. Called removing the competition. We know it. We hear all about The. The drug. What they try to do, take over somebody territory. You try to expand the territory. It doesn't matter how. I just need to expand. I just make sure. So he tried to remove me. I run the wrong route. Hey, let me never ask again. But you know what? And Mayor Porter used to say, God don't like ugly. Sometimes he don't like pretty. Guess who was the first one to get cut?
Shannon Sharpe
But he told you the wrong route. Yeah. Hey, listen, one thing about it, boy, you can't deny greatness. Boy, you can't. You can't deny. You know, I said it, remember?
Colin Cowherd
It was meant to be.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
It was meant for me to go when we got.
Shannon Sharpe
When it. When Shador got drafted. I said it's a blessing in disguise because they both. They've always been. They've always had an issue in finding the answer at that position. Now watch. They try to play with him. I said, watch, they try to play with him, and he ends up being the answer that they didn't even know they had. Watch, I guarantee. I guarantee you. And if I'm wrong, I put my foot in my mouth.
Colin Cowherd
If I'm wrong. What? The thing is, he might be the answer, Ocho. And that was not even the test that they gave him. See, that's the problem that they're up against.
Shannon Sharpe
Wait a minute, man.
Colin Cowherd
We.
Shannon Sharpe
Man, bring that back one more time.
Colin Cowherd
That's it. You said he to be the answer. Yes, he might. He could well be the answer. And that's not the test that they gave him.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, why you preaching? The night work? God.
Colin Cowherd
What's for you. What's. What's for you. What's for you is for you. Can nobody stop it? If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. And God is God in good and in bad. And we just got it. We just. We understand that. We accept that. But. Yeah, he has a lot going on. Don't think his mind is not. Hey, it's Pops. You know how close he is with his dad. His dad dealing with what he's dealing with. But his dad said, hey, you handle that. I got this. You handle that up there in Cleveland. You let me take care of this down here in Boulder.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, make the Browns great again. Mbga. Yeah, yeah, yeah. MBMBGA make the Browns great again.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, you act an awful lot now. I mean, that's. That's. That's feeding. That's feeding. That's feeding. 5,000 with two loaves of bread and fish. That's turning water into possible. Yeah, yeah. I mean, they put man on the moon, so anything's possible. But I mean now you talk about possibility. There's a difference between possibility, right?
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Colin Cowherd
Probability. All right, Ocho joining us. Joining us right now, the two time Pro Bowl, Louisiana native, LSU Tiger. I'm good, can't complain. Appreciate you.
Shannon Sharpe
What's up, little man? You good?
Ryan Seacrest
Why? Why are you starting this already, bro? Why are you starting this already, bro?
Colin Cowherd
All right, got a bone. Hold on.
Shannon Sharpe
Talk to me. Wait a minute. Let me get comfortable. Let me get comfortable. Okay. What happened? What happened? Listen, whatever bone you got, I can put the meat back on it. But just tell me what you need. I got you.
Ryan Seacrest
We're gonna pause that.
Shannon Sharpe
Pause. My bad, my bad, my bad. Go ahead. Oh.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, God. Come on, bro.
Ryan Seacrest
Come on, bro. That's disrespectful.
Shannon Sharpe
What I got you at? What? I got you at 82, bro. Come on, bro. I'll tell you what. I tell you what. You know what? My word is always good. My word is bond. Tell me what you want. I go in. I go in the system internally and I change it. And I guarantee before week one, you're waiting to be where you wanted that.
Ryan Seacrest
I need to be a little bit faster because I ain't that slow. I just need high overall. Whatever you gotta do to make the overall high.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay?
Ryan Seacrest
You feel me?
Shannon Sharpe
That's it.
Ryan Seacrest
That's it.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, say less. Say less. Say that. But I need you to do me one favor. Now. I'm gonna do all the changes that you want. I'm gonna make the necessary changes. I need you. Week one. Who y' all play week one. Okay, y', all just week one, I need you to pop out on film. I need you to pop out on film week one. So when we go to make those adjustments after week one, I can stand on the table and look. Boom. We need to change young bull. Cause look at this. Look at this. I. I got to have something to go off of when I'm in the meeting rooms. Well, them people don't play.
Colin Cowherd
What?
Shannon Sharpe
Okay. Yes. All right. We good. That's problems. Problem solved.
Colin Cowherd
Hold on. Is it true that you were in the Pro Am? You did the Bassmasters Pro Am?
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
You're official. You're a bad. You're a bass fisherman.
Ryan Seacrest
Hell, yeah. That's all I do when I go home, bro. All season, I'll just fish the whole time. Fish workout. That's it.
Colin Cowherd
Bad bass fishing or any type fishing? Just bass, mainly.
Ryan Seacrest
Bass fishing? Yeah. If my buddies go water, I'll go, but.
Colin Cowherd
So you did you. Your jig crank jellies?
Ryan Seacrest
My go to drop shot crankbait jerk bait like that, Nico.
Colin Cowherd
Okay, so let me ask you. Oh, so when you was growing up, I. Growing up, had Bill Dance, had Roland Martin. I unders. I know who Kevin Van Dam is. I know who Mike Akanelli is. I know who Ish Smith is. I know all of these guys. I watch them on Saturday morning when they used to come on, and I understand, you know, hey, they throwing the jig and they throwing the jellies, and they. Hey, they backing up against the. The tides over there trying to catch them. So. So how did you get into bass fishing?
Ryan Seacrest
It was cold year when I was coming out of lsu and he had nothing else.
Colin Cowherd
Okay.
Ryan Seacrest
Locked down. I had pulled my hamstring at the combine, so I couldn't even go to PT or nothing to get my stuff worked on. So my buddy was like, let's go fishing. And neither of us had a boat, so I had some money. We'll get the boat and start bass fishing, man. Hooked up a scent bad.
Colin Cowherd
So. So let me ask you, do you do any shore fishing?
Ryan Seacrest
No. No.
Colin Cowherd
So it's all. So. Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah. I got out of school. I'm cheating the whole thing. I need everything. I need all that.
Colin Cowherd
So you got the. You got the bass finder, you got all that? So you got all that in your boat?
Ryan Seacrest
So what you.
Colin Cowherd
What you riding with every rude Johnson? What kind of outboard you using?
Ryan Seacrest
I gotta. I got a falcon boat, but I use MBT screens, so I got the MBT 20, 22 inch, 24 inch. One of that. One of the other.
Colin Cowherd
Okay.
Ryan Seacrest
I had low ranch on the front valve for, like, my markers and stuff. I took that off. So I just run a running bird with the 360 in the last four.
Colin Cowherd
So I understand you got big. So now I'm talking about the. The motors you using. Johnson.
Ryan Seacrest
Every room, Mercury.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, okay.
Colin Cowherd
Mercury. Okay. But let me ask you a question. But you also got. You also got a. A. What they call it a troller. So to get you closer in there, because that's too much power, you run ashore. So you got a trolling motor to get you in the little tight spots, right?
Ryan Seacrest
A Garmin. Yep.
Colin Cowherd
Okay.
Shannon Sharpe
I ain't never had no boat. I ain't never had no rods, you know, on you. But I spit fish. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Queen. I spit fish. So I go to the Bahamas, right? I go. I go to the Bahamas. Over in Siesta Keys, a little part where they go and I free dive, and I spit fish like that. So it's just me spill arrow, get the bow and arrow. You know, I shoot arrows, too, and I spit fish. I don't know how. How long you can hold your breath underwater. But, you know, I. They. They used to call me baby aquatic when younger, so I don't know about fishing from boats and all that engine stuff y' all talking about, but if you want to go spit fishing with me, if you can free that. If you could swim, man, holl at your boy in the off season.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah. For real.
Colin Cowherd
So let me ask you, Q, You. You catch a release or do you. I mean, what's the biggest fish you got on the wall?
Ryan Seacrest
My biggest is 89. I'm still trying to create that double digits, but.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. Hey, they hard.
Ryan Seacrest
It's hard, right?
Colin Cowherd
But I've been a little conflicted catching a fish that size and, like, taking them out the water. Like, man, this joker. That's a female fish, and that's normally a female fish. And I feel bad. Cause I'm like, damn, you've been here so long, and it take you out just to put your ass on my wall because you're not gonna eat it. Back in the day when we growing up, you caught a fish that big, it ain't hot grease.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
You know that. That's a. That's. That's what we. That's what they call trophy fish. And so I kind of feel bad, but I agree with you. I mean, to try to get something double digits. I mean, and closer to the 12, 13, 14. That's A. That's a nice fight. And But I would say the same thing if I were to hook something and I can. Hey, I can bring him in.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, he got to go on the.
Shannon Sharpe
Wall talking about fishing. You know I caught a glide grouper down here in Miami one time. Oh out there in the Keys act in the king glad group. I ain't had no rod. Just number hands.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Hey, we are. We already know.
Shannon Sharpe
I tell you I was spear fishing. I'm telling you so I mean I, I had I listen come on man, don't do me like that now.
Colin Cowherd
Goliath grouper ain't no fish that you spearfish. Something like that.
Shannon Sharpe
That's how I got it. Hit him in the left fin. They and he can only go sideways. So it made it, it made it.
Colin Cowherd
Easy to catch fly. You need a bottom fish that's not a bottom.
Shannon Sharpe
It was a glad he about he about he about 300, £380 I put him.
Colin Cowherd
I know how big golive groupers get but that but if you need to go look up what their original they changed the name. That wasn't their Goliath grouper. That wasn't their original name. People do your homework and go look, I'm not going to say it but go do your homework and see what the fish original name was. And they changed it. I'm gonna say it like that but we go ahead. We're not gonna get too far off topic. Let me ask you this. You understand both sides of this rivalry. The Ravens and the Steelers give us the biggest difference between John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin.
Ryan Seacrest
You know, it's crazy. I think players can relate to might see a little bit better but I think both of them got excellent strategies. They've got two different strategies when they go into the games that I don't want to get into the whole details about it because I know they got the stuff about the whole public knowing about that stuff. So I ain't gonna get into it. But I could say the similarities are there. They're very similar. I mean they both obviously hard nosed football teams. The practices are intense on both sides. They both are well known for like going into deep details about when you're going into battle and stuff and you know about that. And I think it's just the biggest thing is just it's always going to come down to that last possession, whoever got it and whether it's going to stop or trying to go score. And it's like that every single time we played. Besides the last two games that we had against them where Everything was falling apart for us defensively, which we can't happen after that happened this year. It's just too well known organization that's already football, that love football, just true X's and those not gonna be a whole lot of trick stuff going on. It's just hard nose football.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey listen, from, from all the reports I've. I've heard so far, especially, especially coming out of camp, the defense is dominating deep, dominating the offense. Obviously I expected that. Obviously with the acquisitions that you guys have made. And in my thought that looking at it on paper, I, I think personally based on what you guys have, I see a Ravens, I mean Ravens, a Steelers defense that has a chance to look like the Steelers defense of old in the. Obviously when you look at it from a standpoint of where's the weak, where's the weak link, where's the weakness on the defense up front, you tight at the linebacker position, you tight. And the goddamn secondary. Obviously everybody's resume speaks for itself. That came to play with you guys. Slade Ramsey. So for you guys, what is your goal? Because right now as a team, your identity is now the defense from now on. So I just want to know basically what is your goal this year for you guys?
Ryan Seacrest
I think it's to start faster than we did and to be able to continue to be a better defense as the season go along and not regress. I think last year you look, we lost the last, what, six games or whatever it was and we just steady decline. The whole every single game is like we just got worse and worse and worse. So I've been talking to this with the reporters and stuff. Like this year is so much more detail going into the defensive playbook. There's a lot of new stuff going into the defensive playbook. It's just us being able to start right now with the basic fundamentals and building off of that right now every single day. Not taking our time at. Oh, we'll get to that later. Everything is detailed now, so that way we get to the season, we can just. Game plan. We don't have to switch up what we do. We don't have to go try to create something new. We can just go out there and do what we do and do it.
Colin Cowherd
At a high level.
Ryan Seacrest
And I think that's the biggest thing right now. We're just trying to focus on being better than we were last year starting game one.
Shannon Sharpe
One more question before you go.
Colin Cowherd
You got money?
Shannon Sharpe
I'm kind of nosy. I'm kind of nosy, right? Listen, we, we've seen Aaron Rodgers. We've seen some of the things he's done, the retreats, you know, some of the things he says. He's been crazy in the past, not really being locked in. How has he been as a teammate? Is he locked in with great understanding on how important him being somewhat of a version of his old self for you guys to be successful has. Has it been dope having him as a teammate so far?
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, he's a. He's a hella cool dude. I mean, one day, the rain, the practice that we got rained out. Walking out of the tent, we just got to talking about stuff, and then he asked me, like, what's my favorite animal? Or something like that. We got on top of the sharks and stuff. We had a whole conversation about sharks and stuff. So he's a cool dude, man. But as a teammate, getting to see him, how he approached the game and stuff is just different because, like, you know, the whole thing at practice, they want everybody on the sideline, but I go stand by the offense and see how it looks right from that view. And he'll be right there. And I can hear him going through, like, in his head, like, saying, okay, I'll check this. I'm looking at this. I'm looking at this. Like he's saying this out loud as he. As the other guys are taking a snap. So just seeing how he approaches the game, man, he's in it on every single play, even when he's not in. And it's just something cool to see somebody that does that too.
Shannon Sharpe
That's dope.
Colin Cowherd
You got big money to leave the Ravens. I mean. Yes, leave the Ravens and go to the Steelers. You didn't have the season that you wanted to have your in Pittsburgh, were you? Nick, what. What transpired that we didn't get an opportunity to see the Patrick Queen that we had saw so many years with the Ravens.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, it's just a new environment, trying to get a feel for everything, how the team plays. And it's just hard. It's so hard to do that. Coming in from all in that off season and just trying to build that chemistry up there right now and trying to get an understanding of the defense and stuff. It's so hard to do that in one season, but that's why they paid me to do it. And so this year, it can't be no excuse. I gotta go out there and do what I gotta do, do what they pay me to do, just go out there and be myself. I think, like, my team called me before camp Started call me while I was getting on the plane. It was like, it's go time. Like, it's no more getting used to everybody. It's no more of the whole friendly transition. Like, it's go time. There's no more playing around. So right there, I was excited right there. So it's just. It's the point of me going out there and being who I am, getting the ball, getting the turnovers, running the defense, doing the things that they paid me to do. I think the biggest thing is just that whole transition, the whole switch from being playing with the same guys for four years to go into a new defense and trying to play with those guys, it was just a huge difference.
Colin Cowherd
The last Steelers playoff win happened in 2017. What was been. What has been Mike T's message? Because every year, I mean, like you said, you guys started fast, and then you tail, you tailspin, and you went to playoffs and you tailspin even more. So what has been his message this year? To make sure that we don't get repeat seasons of the previous years.
Ryan Seacrest
Everything that we're doing starts right now. Just. That's why I was saying, like, the whole detail of the defense is so much better than it was last year from top to bottom. And I think that's the biggest thing is, like I said, we was trying to reinvent stuff going into the few games at the end of the season last year. And his whole message to the team right now, just start right now. Start right now. Be great right now. Every single day, every single rep. Do it at your best. Get whatever you're good at, be great at and whatever you're great at, excel at it and keep going and keep pushing it. You got all the sands and stuff and stuff. There's so many sayings, I'll be forgetting them, bro.
Colin Cowherd
Matter of fact, Mike, he got him, bro.
Ryan Seacrest
He got.
Colin Cowherd
I would love to play for him.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, it's. It's dope, though, because you're going to see me in something new every single day. Like, it's not the same message over and over. It's always something new. And he focuses on different people every single day. It's not always the same position groups, not always the same person. Like, he. He highlights different things every day that will transpire in the season. And you kind of seen that from camp last year and going into the season, you'll see things that he talked about in camp, having in the season and stuff that we try to avoid. So he knows what's gonna happen. And, like, he tried to Prepare us for it. So it's our job to go out there and do it.
Shannon Sharpe
Y' all go.
Colin Cowherd
Y' all go. You guys, it's your job. It's on. You guys, you look at what you got defensively. You look at T.J. you look at Cam Hayward, you look at yourself. You got Jay Rain, and now you got Slade, and now you got. And now you got Joy, Paul Porter Jr. On the other side, y' all got no excuses because y' all layered at every. At three levels, front, middle, and the back. Y' all gotta be a top five defense. Y' all need. Y' all look, I understand Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is what he is. I. You got dk, you got Calvin Austin iii. You have some nice offensive players, but, you know, y' all bread is buttered on the defensive side of the football cube.
Ryan Seacrest
Yep. And that's our job. Right. If we could create turnovers and just even if we're not creating, sort of don't let them score. Don't let them score seven. If they drop the ball three. Settle for three.
Colin Cowherd
Cool.
Ryan Seacrest
Like, if they could beat us the whole game, kicking field goals, that's what it's gonna have to be. But at the end of the day, like, he's just saying there's no excuse, like, with the guys that we got, if we could get Aaron the ball back three times, four times a game, two turnovers, whatever, stop here and there, I think we'll have a very successful season. I don't think people understand, like, Aaron could still be Aaron. Like, we still got it. If we could protect him and we go out there and do what we do on defense, we gotta. We got a good chance.
Shannon Sharpe
Absolutely. Listen, I. I said that to start the show off. Obviously, you guys are gonna be really good. I think defensively, you guys will be able to do more. Obviously, when you have that kind of talent, that kind of elite skill at certain position, it opens up the defense and allows the defensive coordinator to be able to do other things to confuse offenses, to confuse quarterbacks that. That they're playing against. So I'm excited to see y' all play. Except when y' all play the Bengals out outside. I'm not gonna talk no trash. I'm here. I'm here to respect the Steelers, you know, I'm here to respect the Steelers. Fans love me. I love them. But I'm. I'm. I'm excited to watch y' all this year, obviously, to see what Aaron. Aaron is going to do. But with it being said, funny thing is, is I'M a defensive guy. I love defensive play. I have a, A huge, I'm a huge enthusiast behind the artwork in which I feel is the most difficult position there is. So I'm looking forward to watching Slay and Joey and Jalen and. And how that works you probably can't tell me. I'm just curious. And Jalen will be at corner. I know, I know. Porter's on one side is Slay. How's it gonna know? Or you can't say?
Ryan Seacrest
They're gonna be everywhere. I mean, Rams gonna be everywhere. Slay gonna be locked down. Joy gonna be locked down. They'll be who they are. Rams gonna be everywhere. He might be outside, might be another, might be at safety. He might be coming at linebacker. Like you're gonna be everywhere. We got a lot of stuff that we're doing. It's gonna be. There's some new looks on defense. There's some new looks. I know people be saying the Steel's got the same old defense, that they always do this and that. So it's gonna be a new look.
Shannon Sharpe
I could imagine. I could imagine.
Colin Cowherd
What's it been like to face DK every single day you see somebody 6 foot 4, his size, his ability, the speed, the athleticism, what has it been like practicing against that guy every single.
Ryan Seacrest
Day and it's eye opening when you can see somebody that's 6, 4, 6, 5, whatever, however tall he is and 225 pounds be able to run like that, do the things that he do. It's just crazy that you could be that athletic at that, that size. So. But when he catch a slant and he freaking put his foot in the ground and turned the Corner, he's running 50 yards downfield. Me and Peyton sitting there trying to walk him down and stuff. And he's sitting there laughing while you're running and stuff. We laughing with him and stuff. It's just, it's crazy, brother. Like when you get to play with somebody great like that. Obviously I played against him when I was in Baltimore and he was at Seattle and he got a dig and like started high selling downfield and stuff. Brazil, when you get around, around great players, bro, you just focus that much more on defense, like trying to do your job, trying to make sure they don't get the ball. Trying to make sure if they do get the ball, that is not an explosive play. I mean when you pair that with Aaron and Aaron doing the no look passes and all that stuff, it just detail you that much more.
Shannon Sharpe
That's lab. Just, just Imagine you. You lucky. Just imagine. If you had to play against me in my area, though, you know, I would. I was 6, 4, 2, 20, 20227 back then. Hey, I. I would have probably. I would have probably ran your ass over, though, bro. I'm just thinking about it. I'm just thinking about it. You know, no disrespect, I'm gonna tell you.
Colin Cowherd
I would.
Shannon Sharpe
I. I'm the type to catch a slant, and instead of cutting up field, I'm gonna run right into you.
Ryan Seacrest
Boy, if you. If you would have played against me, you would be wearing them type of shades right now. I can guarantee you that.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh. Oh, Pat. What?
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, you. Are you out?
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, man, listen, man.
Ryan Seacrest
Hey, you still young.
Shannon Sharpe
Put the pads on.
Ryan Seacrest
Come see about that.
Shannon Sharpe
Tell time to bring me in. I get his work, extra camp body. I don't. I don't even need the contract.
Ryan Seacrest
Hey, hey, they got a whole new. I know you ain't had a training room like we got now, but they got all kind of stuff that you got. You can go up there.
Shannon Sharpe
I don't never go in the training room. I never been in a trainer.
Ryan Seacrest
Why, you gonna have to.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, y' all still do hamburger drills?
Ryan Seacrest
What is a hamburger?
Shannon Sharpe
But you don't know what Oklahoma drill. You know what hamburger drills is, man?
Ryan Seacrest
We call it Oklahoma drill. I'm from down south. Ain't no.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. See, I used to do. I used to do hamburger drill with the linebackers, though, when I was playing. That's how I know that's.
Ryan Seacrest
And what you used to do, just.
Shannon Sharpe
Head up, head up. That's. I'm. I'm on that. I'm on whatever you want.
Ryan Seacrest
I don't buy that, bro. I need. I need film.
Shannon Sharpe
I sent it to you right now. I sent it to you right now.
Colin Cowherd
They ain't about that. Bull in the ring. Bull in the ring.
Shannon Sharpe
Come on, y' all.
Colin Cowherd
Acting like. I'm not.
Ryan Seacrest
I wasn't born in the 90s. Yes. Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. They might not do it anymore, but I know. I know. We did it.
Shannon Sharpe
Queen.
Colin Cowherd
Let me ask you this. What does your diet consist of?
Ryan Seacrest
Man, honestly, bro, this is the first year that I'm actually, like, focused on what I'm eating. Like, I'm trying to stay away from the fried foods this whole off season. Like, I remember mom, the first day I got back, my mom brought me, like, fried chicken. I said, look, you got one week. After this week, I'm not eating no more fried food. Don't bring me no fried food. I'm gonna bake food this whole time. So right now, basically, I just. I probably don't eat my first meal till around like 11, 11:30.
Colin Cowherd
Okay, so you're intermittent fasting right now?
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah. Yep. So I eat my first meal around that time, then my next meal probably be 6:30, 7 o'. Clock, whatever time that. Whatever I eat then. So.
Colin Cowherd
Damn, how many candles you taking in? You only. You only eating two meals a day.
Ryan Seacrest
Only two meals. But I. When I eat the two meals, I eat like, I ain't. Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
I'm saying, yeah, bro. Bro, you gotta be out there like that, bro. You got to be putting 5,000, 6,000 calories because you burning it off now. Yeah, but y' all don't practice. Y' all not out there 2A days. Because the second practice is like meeting or something.
Ryan Seacrest
No. So we had a walk through in the morning. It might be a little bit of running around in that walk through, nothing crazy. And then. Okay, the second part is you get it in, like, I think Fridays, like two o'. Clock. Yeah. So.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, I gotta go ahead, do me. If they don't hurt my feelings, man. Now, you say eat two times a day. What type of food you eating? You know, one of the best linebackers in the game. You know, Patrick Queen, lsu. Like, I mean, tell me, don't hold. Let me take. Let me take my shades off, man. What kind of food you eating?
Ryan Seacrest
So at lunch, I'll probably get a smoothie, depending on what I'm feeling. Like some days I'm gonna try to be home. Some days I might sneak in a burger. I might sneak. I might sneak in a burger here and there. I know what you. I know what you're waiting, though, so I might sneak one in. But I try to not eat too much, so I'll probably eat something I know that can feel me. So I'll probably get like two slices of piece something. That way I'll go to practice and I'm not feeling heavy, but I still got a good source of energy. And then after that dinner time, I'll probably eat something healthy. I'll probably grab some baked or something. Like, nothing crazy.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, see, I like. See, I like what you just said. You see the balance? You see the. The balance, uncle, you heard him.
Colin Cowherd
There's a balance.
Shannon Sharpe
You know, I'm healthy.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
All right. I'm. I'm get the. My other stuff over here. I'm gonna combine it together and that's why he never gonna get hurt, huh? He's never gonna get hurt. Because if you eat like a rabbit, I'm telling. Your body will fall apart. What?
Colin Cowherd
Ocho, if people could do things in moderation, we would have a problem.
Shannon Sharpe
He got it figured out.
Colin Cowherd
Exactly. That's the thing. In moderation. Yeah. People can say, oh, yeah, oh, it's okay to have pizza. It's okay that. But the problem is you eat the whole pizza, right? And not a slice, not two slice. You eat the whole pizza. Okay. It's okay to have an ice cream.
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Colin Cowherd
But not a whole quart. So that's the difference apart. Congratulations, man, on all the success, bro. Get it. Go A. You know who you are. Be who you are. Be that person that say, you know what? This is the guy we want. The man in the middle of our defense. Be that guy. You know how to be that guy better than anybody else.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Now just go do it. Thank you for coming on tonight with Nightcap. Give us a little bit of your time. We greatly appreciate that.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Stay healthy.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on, hold on.
Colin Cowherd
Good luck this year.
Shannon Sharpe
Do me a favor. Tell Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slayer and Joey Porter they couldn't do nothing with me right now. And tell TJ Watt I beat his ass, bro.
Ryan Seacrest
I know you got money. Get your pj. Because I know you don't like the whole PJ thing.
Shannon Sharpe
Just related message for me.
Colin Cowherd
We're gonna give some problem this. Oh, look, you open a official and tackle shop called All Pro Fishing and Tackle located in Rose, Louisiana. Tell us about that.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, so it was like, I did. Me and my mom was on the phone with it. I was just talking about, like, I always got to order something or go to Bass Pro. That's all away from the house. And everybody that's local got the same problem. So she just kind of hinted at, like, you should open up your own store. And we got to talking about it. And I just thought it was just a talk. And one day she was like, hey, I bought this store for you, for you to start your Christian store and this and that. And I was like, you serious? And she was like, yeah. So they started right there. And ever since it's been rolling, it's been doing great. The business has been great. I'm gonna start adding some hunting stuff in there because we do that down there, too. So.
Colin Cowherd
Right.
Shannon Sharpe
Are you behind?
Colin Cowherd
You behind. So you at.
Shannon Sharpe

Ryan Seacrest
Y' all gotta come take a trip down south of Louisiana, man. Get y' all right.
Colin Cowherd
Hey, don't listen. This man ain't hunting.
Shannon Sharpe
We Got raccoons and squirrels in Miami. What you talking about? I be hunting.
Colin Cowherd
You ain't hunting them. Okay, Ocho. Okay, Ocho. What, what, what you, what you, what type of gun you shoot?
Shannon Sharpe
Shot for the squirrels.
Colin Cowherd
Like I was saying, you have, you have live, so you have, you have live. You have live. So you have live bait, right? Shiners and things like that? Correct.
Ryan Seacrest
So I do. The only thing I didn't put in there for fishing is shiners and stuff. Because the whole, the whole thing is like, we open up probably around 6 o'. Clock. People gonna be going fishing way earlier than that. Then they don't live that long.
Colin Cowherd
Oh yeah, they gonna be going. They go, they. Hey, no, them boats gonna be in the water by five o'.
Ryan Seacrest
Clock. Yeah. And the minnows don't live that long. Then it's the constant battle and try to get more in and keep them alive and stuff. So it's just, we like, there's no point.
Colin Cowherd
So. But you, but you have like, you have jump, you have Louisiana pinks, red wigglers, nightcrawlers, things like that.
Ryan Seacrest
All that stuff. Okay, okay. Everything but silence.
Colin Cowherd
Okay, okay. You done though? You got anything else you want to add?
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, listen, all love. Have a hell of a season, boy. Have a hell of a season, man. Telling boys I said good luck and I'm gonna see all boy. I'm gonna see y' all boys twice. Twice. And you, you know who y' all gonna be playing. I'm gonna see you.
Ryan Seacrest
For sure. Appreciate y', all, boy, for having me too.
Colin Cowherd
Appreciate you, man. Thanks for stopping by. Hey, when you. Hey, when y' all have that great season, you have that pro bowl all pro season, come back and join us again.
Ryan Seacrest
We'll do, we'll do.
Colin Cowherd
Appreciate that, man. All the best.
Ryan Seacrest
Appreciate y'. All. Same to y'.
Colin Cowherd
All.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, that was dope.
Colin Cowherd
You know damn well you ain't never been no damn hunter.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on. Well, time out, Time out, time out. Let me say something real quick. Let me say something real quick, huh?

I live in Miami. I live in Miami, Florida, right? Liberty City. I hear we got canals, right?
Colin Cowherd
Opalaka. No.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, we got canals. We got iguanas. They get too big, you gotta hunt them. You gotta. You gotta remove them. We got raccoons.
Colin Cowherd
I just asked you a question. What type of gun have you ever shot?
Shannon Sharpe
A Sig. A Sig with a switch.
Colin Cowherd
A Sig, what?
Shannon Sharpe
Nine millimeter.
Colin Cowherd
A Sig. What's going to end a Sig?
Shannon Sharpe
What you mean, what's going. The end of it? A sig sour p220.
Colin Cowherd
226, I think.
Shannon Sharpe
826.
Colin Cowherd
Chad. Y', all, that man end up being hunting the day of his life. I mean, first of all, if you gonna shoot it, if you gonna shoot those little. You said the canal.
Shannon Sharpe
I don't shoot him to kill him. I just want to get him for a round for messing up my rose bed. You know, I, you know, I got plant. I got a rose bed outside with flowers and stuff. You're going to be trying to eat my flowers. Hey, you got. You got raccoons. Where you from?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, the raccoons here in Miami, they different. Like, they stand. They stand up.
Colin Cowherd
But Ocho. Aha.
Shannon Sharpe
Run. They stand up. I'm like, what? Yeah, what you trying to do?
Colin Cowherd
But when we were growing up, you didn't want the hide was valuable, so you shot the raccoon with a.22 because you didn't want to mess the hide up. So that's what I'm saying now, obviously, if you're shooting, you know, a bird, you shooting quail or something like that. Dove, you need. You need bird shot. You shooting a deer? Okay, you might, you know, hey, you might use a slug or something like that or 30, 30 or high power rifle, something that goes for distance. But I know you ain't shooting nothing like that.
Shannon Sharpe
Miami, we do everything in close proximity. We don't do nothing from a distance. We. You got. You gotta. You gotta get up on them. You got to get up on them, you know, especially the raccoons. The raccoons here don't play.
Colin Cowherd
Huh?
Shannon Sharpe
They don't play. I'm telling you, they don't play. They different. Yeah, yeah.
Colin Cowherd
I just know I'm not going hunting with you because you don't even know how to carry. You don't even know how to handle a long rifle. So I'm not going hunting with you.
Shannon Sharpe
I'd be sniping, I'd be Told I'd be sniping that.
Colin Cowherd
Let me ask you a question. How do you hold it? So if you're not getting ready to shoot it. So how do you hold it?
Shannon Sharpe
Barrel Always point down, huh? Always point down.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, Lord, this man here. I'm not going. I'm not going hunting or fishing with you. No, this is how you hold it down. Always.
Shannon Sharpe
And when you raise it.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, yeah. Hey, hey, Chat. Don't y' all go humble. Don't show that baby that shot y' all in the back.
Shannon Sharpe
Ain't no friendly fire, Bill.
Colin Cowherd
And then. And then he gonna have it up. Then he gonna have it like he in the military. Across his shoulder like he marching.
Shannon Sharpe
How you carry yours? I carry mine across the chest with the. With the. With the coin down.
Colin Cowherd
Cross the ch.
Shannon Sharpe
You hear me?
Colin Cowherd
Don't worry about it, Ocho. Yeah. Ocho, you have to realize when you tigers. I see you. When you carry the long rifle, Ocho, you got to be able to get in position right quickly.
Shannon Sharpe
I just showed you. That was the right position, though, huh?
Colin Cowherd
As laughing.
Ryan Seacrest
As.
Colin Cowherd
Laughing so hard. First of all, I grew up in the country. I grew up in Haley. Gun. Oh, you. Can you tell I just got home.
Shannon Sharpe
You got the strap. You got the strap on your sniper. You got this. You got the strap, right?
Colin Cowherd
No, no, no. I didn't have a strap on it.
Shannon Sharpe
How you gonna. Well, how you gonna get into position when you walking?
Colin Cowherd
What you mean, how I'm gonna get in the position? I mean, you can't. Ocho. I'm not. Look, Ocho, I'm not traveling no great distance. We're going. Okay, maybe we're gonna go a mile or two, but just. It all depends on how many people. What are we hunting? Are we hunting bird? Are we hurting quail? We hurting dove? Okay, Are we shoot. Are we shooting at. Is it deer? Is it hog? Are we shooting a squirrel? Are we shooting raccoons? I mean, it depends on the type of gun we're gonna carry and what we're shooting.
Shannon Sharpe
Well, I got. Listen, I got. I don't like the whole mine because it's heavy. So I had the strap, and I always carry it on my breastplate pointing down just in case it comes. Not that it would go off or anything like that. I'm professional. You just said. You just said it's always in position. I can come up right away.
Colin Cowherd
No, to be it, you need to be. Hey. In a moment's notice. You need to be able to do this.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm ready. Yeah. Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Look, sometimes People have it like this. Cross your arm like this. Walk.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah.
Colin Cowherd
But first of all, why am I explaining you somebody that's never going.
Shannon Sharpe
I think, listen, we can, we can go hunting. We can go hunting.
Colin Cowherd
What you mean? No, no, no, no, I'm not going hunting with. No.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm not. Oh, matter of fact, can I say something?
Colin Cowherd
Oh, you've never even.
Shannon Sharpe
Loaded a gun real quick.
Colin Cowherd
Yes, you can.
Shannon Sharpe
I really think that's a gym. That's the gym. Me, me and you hunting. Listen, I gotta, I gotta. I got a streaming backpack. I got the TVU backpack, right? Remember I asked you about what can I film? What type of content can I film? Boom, Bingo. There's a show right there. Me and you hunting. What are we talking about? Me and you hunt? You, you teach me the rules.
Colin Cowherd
But you've never been pointing the show.
Shannon Sharpe
That's what's gonna make it so interesting.
Colin Cowherd
First of all, we got to have a guide. We got to have somebody that, that could. That's going to help us. Just going to spot for us.
Shannon Sharpe
I got a spot on, and I got a spot on my homeboy. My homeboy used to be.
Colin Cowherd
Nah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We got out. We gotta have professor.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, but hey, I got so many. I got so many good ideas, man. We could do some dope stuff, man. We could be. We could be better than Mr. B.
Colin Cowherd
Hey, look, I'm all, I'm all about. I look, doing all the things that, that we did growing up, you know, like I said, fishing, you know, we did, we didn't really. I mean, my grandfather would get in the boat occasionally. I don't know why he got in the boat because he couldn't swim. But anyway, that's another story. We talked before. We talk about that for another day. We talk about that another day. But I look, I've been in the boat. I've been deep sea fishing mainly. We, we shore fish, fished. You know, we fish from the bank, the bridge or whatever the case may be. So I'm, I'm very proficient at being able to fish. Obviously. We grew up hunting and handling guns. You know, all the guns were in our house, was loaded. My grandfather let us know very early on that ain't nothing to play with. You know, death is real. So that ain't. You don't. You don't. You don't play. You don't play with that. And we didn't play with those guns. And so. But you know what? We're looking to. That.
Shannon Sharpe
That's something you Know, hey, I gotta put this. I gotta put this streaming pack to use.
Colin Cowherd
But you do realize you gotta talk softly when you're in the woods. Cause animals can hear very, very well.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm telling you. I'm telling you to go hunt deer.
Colin Cowherd
So you talking too loud. Didn't I just. Didn't I just tell you how you needed to talk?
Shannon Sharpe
I gotcha. We can use walkie talkie.
Colin Cowherd
Okay. No, you just gotta use it. Obviously, you'll be miked up and you'd have an airpiece in your ear so you could hear. We could also hear.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, you know, we could do too. You know, we could do too out there. So. So the. The. The. The animals. Can't we pour. You pour urine all over your outfit so you smell like deer. And it attracted deer to you, so they think it's like mating season. They think you're a female. So it allows us to get it.
Colin Cowherd
Yes, they. There is. There is something they call doping. Yeah, absolutely. Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
No, I ain't doing all that now. Yeah, I'm good.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm ready.
Colin Cowherd
And plus, you want. You want to have to be as natural as you possibly can. Obviously. You can't put on cologne and go out, you know, you go out and try to put on cologne, try to go out there with some tall for though, and they'll be like, sam, you smell that?
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, man. Oh, that's a good one. That's funny.
Ryan Seacrest
It's.
Colin Cowherd
Nah, man, just. Honey, thing just ain't my thing, Ocho, man. It's just. You do it. I mean, I'm. I'm more of a fisherman now. You know, we get that fish, you know.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, that's kind of.
Colin Cowherd
That's kind of whatever you want. Oh, man. Yeah. What you think hunting is? You think as soon as you walk.
Shannon Sharpe
In the woods, you see something you shooting? Because you just never know. You just never know. You just never know what the fish getting you. Catching a fish. When you go hunting, you don't know what might you. What you might stumble upon. You. You never know.
Colin Cowherd
No, Ocho, that's not how you hunt. You go hunt for a specific thing.
Shannon Sharpe
When you go hunt for a specific thing, but you never what might show up.
Colin Cowherd
You don't go. You don't go. You don't go. You don't go hunt whitetail and hope I kill a moose.
Shannon Sharpe
A moose might come before the whitetail. A bear might come before. Before the. Before the moose.
Colin Cowherd
No, no, no. And then it come. First of all, if we go, we. We gonna miss. We gonna miss first of all, we gonna miss bear season anyway, so. Okay. We good?
Shannon Sharpe
Okay.
Colin Cowherd
All right. Shadur said. Shadour said today that he doesn't want his dad at practice. I don't want him coming to see me right now because I want to go where I want to go. Then for him to see me. I don't want him to come see me. Get a couple of reps, and he's cheering like. Like a good dad. Yeah. Nah, you can't be proud of me right now. I got to get to where I'm going, and I know it's a lot I got to do to get there. Is that a smart move? By. By.
Shannon Sharpe
He doesn't want any distractions. No outside distractions. Obviously, Dion showing up would be a. A huge distraction. Even though he's coming to support his son. The type of attention that Dion would bring being in Cleveland is unwarranted, and Shador doesn't want to deal with that. All the attention is on Shador as it is. Everyone is talking about the Browns this season, which they've never been talked about like they have to date since the draft is because of Shador Sanders. So Deion coming there would add not really any type of pressure, but just unwanted attention that Shador doesn't want right now. He wants to focus on doing a job, getting the reps that he's going to get that they're going to allow him to have, and just. Just doing everything quietly. And I'm waiting on Friday. I'm waiting on Friday. I'm excited. I'm excited for him. I'm glad they doing what they're doing because the cream always ride to the top. Whatever hand, whatever cars are dealt, you got to play that hand and play it to your best of your abilities.
Colin Cowherd
I agree. I agree. Yeah, look, he. Prime, prime, wherever he's at, prime gonna stand out. And, you know, and. And. And Shador's like, look, let me focus on what I need to focus on. I don't want y' all asking me, what's it like having my dad at practice and all that other stuff that comes along with Prime. Prime got his own, got his. Got his thing, need to get. First of all, you need to get it. He got to get his help. And it seems like he's progressing quite well. He had a very, very, very serious surgery. You know, reading up on it and seeing what they had done, man. Boy, modern medicine is amazing, man, what they can do. Boy, look here, boy, I don't know what you believe in, but for somebody to give Somebody that kind of information and to man, please. But I like it. I agree with you, Ocho. I like the fact that your daughter says, let's, let's, let's keep this the thing. This ain't no circus here. This is my job. This is my job. Now this is a very different job because sometimes parents do come to work. Most of the time, Ocho, we work it out. You work at a regular 9 to 5. It ain't bring your parents, bring your parents to work day. You might be able to bring your kids to work day, but you don't bring your parents to work day. And he wants to keep the main thing. The main thing. He don't want. He don't want time. And, and ain't like time just he time. You know what comes along with time? He just wanted to be a supportive dad, but he said, look, I know you're gonna cheer. I get one rep. You gonna make it seem like I just threw the game. When he touched down the super bowl, he's like. But he's like, nah, nah, Pops. Nah, Pops, you go ahead and stay where you are right now. No.
Shannon Sharpe
Yep.
Colin Cowherd
All right, Ocho. Liam Cohen, head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, says Travis Hunter winning offensively and defensive rookie of the Year is possible. Travis is listed as the start on offense and the backup on defense. To have a chance of winning both awards, you need to be playing full time offense and defense.
Shannon Sharpe
So I like it.
Colin Cowherd
What do you think?
Shannon Sharpe
I like it. I like it. I don't. Defensively, I don't think you'll win it. I think defensively rookie of the year is probably going to be Abdul. Abdul Carter. It's going to be Abdul Carter. I'm not sure what the workload will look like for asking Genti down there in Las Vegas, but I think he would probably, probably come in second. But watching Abdul Carter and knowing what he can do defensively, especially coming off that edge, he's gonna be a menace. He is going to be a minute man.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah. And you think about it, he got Lawrence, he got Thibodeau. So, yeah, pick and choose. He got a top two, three defensive tackle. He got Kayvon Thibodeau that can, you know, we know what he can do. He can rush the passer when he's healthy. So it's gonna be hard to slide and try to like double him and take him away. You know, normally what we've seen is that quarterbacks get, get a, get a premium on winning rookie of the year because Ocho, they got the ball. Joe Going to be throwing. He throw 30 touchdowns. It's hard to overcome that. Now you have a situation like Chase. You know, Chase put 1400 yards up, so it was hard to deny. Deny him. You look at who else. Like you said, Genti running backs, you get 300 carries. He average four and a half, five yards of carry. That. That's 14, 1500 yard right there.
Shannon Sharpe
Absolutely.
Colin Cowherd
And then guess what? 14, 1500 yards with 12, 15 touchdowns.
Shannon Sharpe
I like. I like. I like. I like. I like about. Yeah, they gonna get in that ball. Listen, Brian Thomas Jr. He's not going. Brian Thomas Jr. Is going to do exactly what he did last year, plus some. But because Thomas Jr. Is so great at what he does so early, he's gonna be the one to get double. He's gonna be the one to get double, and that's when Trav is gonna do what he does. He gonna be gonna make the plays that he makes. I'm curious when they. When they go nickel, I wonder if Trav coming on nickel.
Colin Cowherd
Oh, yeah, for sure. The question is he's gonna be outside.
Shannon Sharpe
Or he'll be inside to start off.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, you think so?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
He tall. I think he's. I think he's better.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay.
Colin Cowherd
Outside.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay. See, I don't. I don't. I don't know the depth chart for the. For the Jaguars. I'm not sure who they are. I'm sure they probably do have a nickel. So they. They might. I'm not sure how it's gonna work.
Colin Cowherd
Hey, Ocho, you know them guys enough slot, man? Them jokers stopping on them lad. My Conkeys. Hey, they running that Zarro ride on you. They running that whip. That whip route.
Shannon Sharpe
It's. It's different.
Colin Cowherd
You get like Keenan Allen.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, did Keenan Allen just go back. Did he go back to the Charger? Back to the Charger.
Colin Cowherd
He went back to the Charger.
Shannon Sharpe
I like that.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, Yeah. I like. I like that move, too. I do. I like that move.
Shannon Sharpe
So all they got to do. Yeah.
Colin Cowherd
Familiar offense, Familiar with the quarterback. I like it. I like that move. There's. There it is on your screen. Do you see it? The depth chart?
Shannon Sharpe
Nice. It's not. It's not up there. It's not.
Colin Cowherd
Okay, sending it to you right now.
Shannon Sharpe
Check that out real quick.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, he gonna be starting because right now, Jordan Lewis is the nickelback. You got Tyson Campbell. You got Jerry and Jones.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, Jordan Lewis is there. Okay, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Colin Cowherd
From the Cowboys.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, yeah, he definitely. Oh, yeah. He definitely. No, no disrespect.
Colin Cowherd
Darnell Savage. I think he's from Green Bay. Okay. I like Armstead, Josh Hines, Allen.
Shannon Sharpe
They got. They got a nice little. Got a nice little squad.
Colin Cowherd
What? I am happy to be back, too. Come on.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, they're. They're going to be all right.
Colin Cowherd
I see you. I see you. I missed you, too, buddy.
Shannon Sharpe
Man, you. When you. You get special players like that, man, all you got to do is put them in position, man, and it opens up everything else you can do. You can do more. You have certain type of players with a special skill set. That's why. That's why I like what the Steelers had this year. Excuse me. On defense, you know, they. They tailed off towards the end of the season for. For whatever reason, but they have so much now where they can do more. It opens up the playbook because you have a certain set of players that have special skill sets. It allows you to do more than what you could last time or last year, for that matter.
Colin Cowherd
Right? Yeah. So it's going to be interesting. Like I said, it's. I mean, I just. I think that's just asking a lot of the young man to play at that elite level and to try to play two positions. He. Grown men out here. That is different.
Shannon Sharpe
He said he could do it.
Colin Cowherd
It's different.
Shannon Sharpe
We gonna find out. We gonna find out real soon. Yeah. Hey, you question as a rookie, does he play in the preseason or no?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah, I think you got to give him some. I think you got to give him some reps.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay. Get used to that. Get. Get used to that speed of the game, because it's completely different. It's completely different than practice. Titus. What up, Twin?
Colin Cowherd
I guess you can tw. I guess you can tell I've been gone for 12 days.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, you been going that long? Hey, Titus. What up, Twin? Come on. Come on down to Miami. I'll take it to the dog park over in Midtown.
Colin Cowherd
He said nah. He said I'm intact. He said it'll. They throw us both out.
Shannon Sharpe
What?
Colin Cowherd
That means he still got his. He still.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, yeah, that's fine. Hey, listen.
Colin Cowherd
No.
Shannon Sharpe
Some nice pools out there. La Carlis.
Colin Cowherd
You know, people sue you, man. Stop. Stop. That's enough. Got me all scratched up.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, they about. They about. They about suing for every goddamn thing these days. Jesus Christ. So. It's all right. Don't worry about it. I ain't. I ain't got it.
Colin Cowherd
No, but it's gonna be very interesting to see. He's starting wide receiver, opposite of Brian Thomas Jr. And then he's back up to Jerry and Jones. So hey paid him a boatload of money. He says he can do it. Yeah, let's see what he can do.
Shannon Sharpe
All the Doubters Wrong.

Additionally, the show welcomes Patrick Queen, a two-time Pro Bowl linebacker, who shares insights on the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive strategies and the fierce Ravens-Steelers rivalry.
With key quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Dylan Gabriel sidelined by hamstring injuries, the Browns have brought in Tyler Huntley to address the shortage. Sharpe voices skepticism about the Browns' long-term strategy:

The hosts discuss Cleveland's historical challenges in maintaining a stable quarterback presence since Bernie Kosar in the mid-80s, highlighting ongoing struggles:
Colin Cowherd [06:27]: "The last good quarterback... has been Bernie Kosar, if I'm not mistaken."
Sharpe and Ocho debate the effectiveness of the current QB depth chart, questioning whether younger QBs like Shador Sanders are being adequately supported or set up to fail due to lack of experience:
Shannon Sharpe [07:13]: "The depth chart to me doesn't mean anything."
Sharpe advocates strongly for Shador Sanders, emphasizing his preparedness and resilience despite being a fifth-round draft pick:
Shannon Sharpe [12:23]: "When your opportunity gets there, when you get your opportunity, you have no choice but to shine."
The discussion touches on how the Browns' organizational environment may influence Sanders' ability to emerge as a starting QB, considering the pressures and expectations placed upon him.
Both hosts acknowledge the Browns' gamble on their QB strategy, with Sharpe providing an optimistic outlook:
Shannon Sharpe [07:13]: "They are trying to break Young Bull."
Patrick Queen, a two-time Pro Bowl linebacker and defensive captain, joins the show to provide his perspectives:
Patrick Queen [28:36]: "Life's messy."
Queen discusses his move from the Ravens to the Steelers, highlighting the challenges of adapting to a new team environment and building chemistry with new teammates.
Queen emphasizes the Steelers' defensive focus for the upcoming season:
Patrick Queen [40:37]: "Everything that we're doing starts right now. Just... We're just trying to focus on being better than we were last year starting game one."
He outlines the importance of starting strong to avoid a season decline similar to previous years and the integration of new defensive plays and strategies.
The hosts and Queen delve into the intense rivalry between the Ravens and Steelers, comparing coaching styles of John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin. They emphasize the strategic differences and the hard-nosed football approaches of both teams:
Colin Cowherd [38:37]: "Everything that we're doing starts right now."
Queen touches on working with seasoned players like Aaron Rodgers, highlighting their collaborative approach to improving team performance and defensive strategies:

Patrick Queen [46:02]: "If we could create turnovers and just even if we're not creating, sort of don't let them score."
