The NBA is investigating whether the Bucs handled the Viannis after he told reporters that he's being held out despite being healthy enough to play. Giannis and the Bucks have given conflicting accounts of the league investigators. Giannis says he wants to play while the team insists he's not medically cleared. Uh, Giannis told reporters this weekend, I'm available to play, but I'm not in the game. I'm available to play today. Right now I'm available, he later said. For somebody to come and tell me to not play or not compete is like a slap in my face. So I don't know where there's relationship go from there. Man, they're not gonna let you get out there because they want to try to extrapolate as much as they can out of you.
Joe
Yeah, yeah.
Ocho
They're not gonna let you get hurt on their watch. Ocho, remember we saw. Didn't we see this with Russell Wilson?
Joe
Yeah, absolutely.
Ocho
They say either change the contract or come sit over here with us.
Joe
Yeah, I mean, Yana should know that though. I'm sure you understand they don't want to lose the value in which you bring to the table. They need to use you when it's time to go to get as much as they can back for you. And if you hurt, if you injured, if that calf, you know, something happens, you know it ruptures or whatever it may be. Oh, absolutely not.
Ocho
Calf and knee.
Joe
Listen, y' all know he messed up, too.
Ocho
It was. This one was his knee. He hyperextended his knee. The first injury he had was the calf. Yeah. This calf. Was this. This the second or third calf. But you remember in the playoff, Joe, he hyperextended that knee against the. The Hawks.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
He ended up missing the game, but he came back and ended up winning the championship.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
So he. The injuries are starting to come with greater frequency, and they're starting to keep him out longer period of time, but the honors ain't playing no more this year.
Joe
No, it's. It's. It's. I don't know how it is for football, but for basketball is protocol.
Ocho
Yeah.
Joe
You may be healthy, but at the same time, man, we need to see you play two on two, three on three. We got to. You got to do some of that, Uncle Ocho, before we just throw you back out here playing five on five. We need to see how you move. We need to see the duration and how long you can go.
Right.
You know what I mean? They not just throwing that man out there because he say he healthy. Yeah, he may be healthy, but can we see you play three on three? Can we see you do a little something in practice? And from my. From my understanding, he ain't willing to be playing no 3 on 3 or none of that.
Ocho
Yeah, he just want to get.
Joe
He just want to get out there
and hoop, get back on the court, huh?
Yeah, but they not doing that. It's too big of an investment.
Yeah.
And at the same time, we already know we probably gonna have to trade you, bro. So the last thing we want is what? For you to get hurt?
Ocho
Yes. Yeah, they not doing it. You might. You might sell a car that's wrecked. Oo. But you ain't gonna get the value for it. It was in pristine condition.
Joe
Absolutely not.
Ocho
So the last thing I want to do is have Giannis have an injury. Cuz, you see what happened with the Max Crosby situation? You see what happened oo. Now, it's your word against theirs. He ain't healthy.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
He ain't past the physical. Now, remember, you got to pass the other team's physical. Damn. What your team say?
Joe
Team say. Yeah.
Ocho
And then basketball is different. That money guaranteed. Y' all just got. Got. Got another year fully guaranteed.
Joe
Yeah. Yeah.
Ocho
Football is different. Football will put your ass out there when you not healthy. Just to get you on film and get your ass right on up out of there. That money ain't guaranteed.
Joe
Yep.
Ocho
I done seen it too many times.
Joe
That's a cold game, boy.
Who yet? Absolutely, man.
Ocho
We had to do, man. Hey, that Joe with Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Bonnie and Clyde. He was stealing for like a year and a half. Bad at your a. They're like, nah, we just want to see you, you know, just put the pads on. We just want to see you do
Joe
some walk throughs, right?
Ocho
You know, maybe a, you know, light thud be like, okay, they got him on camera. We got him moving. Ocho.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
As soon as he got back in there, they called him upstairs.
Joe
Yeah. Hey, you.
Ocho
Hey.
Joe
We have. We had guys come in in. The favorite. The favorite injury they like to talk about are they low back. Because you can't. You can't really dictate or scan that low back and see what's really going on. Somebody low back hurt, you just gotta take their word. Yeah, and I remember we was in Brooklyn, we had a nice little squad, man. We had about three, four dudes with low back injuries, man.
Ocho
Come on, man.
Joe
I already know what's going on.
Ocho
But. But it does the man. Sometimes you just wake up and you. The bed. You're not used to that bed. The bed a little bit too hard or too soft? Too soft.
Joe
Oh, yeah. It's them two soft beds that had you hurting, man, because your spine be
Ocho
kind of slipped down your head up here, your back down there, your legs up there like what the hell have you. Well, they call the horse. I know y' all don't know anything but call it sway. Back with a horseback dip in Ocho.
Joe
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ocho
Have you that back? Ain't nothing to play with, though. So you ain't never had no back. That back ain't nothing to play with.
Joe
Yeah, you know, back my back strong, you know, I'm trying to think. I don't know. Well, obviously squatting had nothing to do with your back, but, you know, I squat 5, 600 pounds, so.
Ocho
Right now?
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
Yo, Joe, that man ain't Never squatted no 5, 600 pounds, not even with a two ply suit.
Joe
Hey, there's. There's video on YouTube of me doing it. Huh?
Ocho
No.
Joe
Hey, Joe, I'm in the gym tomorrow. I'm gonna make sure I put a video and I'm gonna tag you on it. Joe.
Hey. Hey, what you using a pit shark or you got that thing up on your.
Ocho
On your back now?
Joe
We got Just about. Just about, Joe. Yeah. Just a ball.
Okay. All right. I'm gonna be paying attention. I'll be looking for it.
I got you. I'm tagging.
Ocho
Don't look too hard.
Joe
I'm tagging. Hey, I don't know about. You know, most of the time, he doubt me, especially when it comes to my strength.
Ocho
I doubt you. I just know you ain't squatting no 600 pounds.
Joe
Okay. Oh, tomorrow I'm do. I do four.
Ocho
There haven't been very many power lifters to actually squat 600 pounds and under 200 pounds.
Joe
Well, uncle, you have to understand. I do understand. I'm not like anyone else.
Ocho
Actually, you're not. That's why I know you're not squatting 600.
Joe
Hey, I can show you,
Ocho
boy, that Frank. Well, look, here you go. Have new both heels replaced, both knees replaced.
Joe
It's all. It's all in the core. Huh?
Huh?
It's all in the core.
Just make sure you don't be straining, bro.
Now, I don't strain. Only time I strain, Joe, is when I do number two.
Yo, you should be straining in. You mess around, catch one of them.
Ocho
A hernia.
Joe
Yeah, a hernia. Hemorrhoid or something.
Yeah, I ain't never had that either.
Ocho
Joe, this man here.
Joe
Hey, hey. You just thank God if you wanted
Ocho
to be strong, all you had to do was work out on your lift weights. If you wanted to be strong. You Want to be 4, 500? You want to squat 6, 700? Get your ass in the gym.
Joe
I'm in the gym every day. Huh? I mean, I'm in. I'm in the gym every day because. Because, you know, it's somebody that. That I can see right now. You know, I. I know he hurt right now. You know, he do a little hot yoga, but we. We got a little matchup coming up soon.
Ocho
Okay? Okay.
Joe
Okay, boy. Listen, I'm gonna make him touch every end of that goddamn court. You hear me?
Ocho
Every. You know you're gonna make him touch every.
Joe
Every corner.
Ocho
Killer crossover.
Joe
He gonna hit the flow just like he made Paul Pierce fall. That's how I'm gonna make his ass fall.
Hey, we. We know he the biggest cap on Nightcap. We are. Everybody know that. The whole chat know that.
Hey, you can say what you want to. It's one thing when I do talk, I back it up.
It ain't no way. It's a snowball chance in hell, boy, that you. You gonna. Well, you ain't doing none of that. What you talking about?
All right. Just. Just make sure you're healthy. I don't want to hear no excuses about my knee.
Oh, I wanna, Ocho. I'm feeling good. Boy. I got on that treadmill I had wide open. You hear me? Yeah, I'm getting right. Ocho, what you got that crown on your head for, man?
Do you know? And still.
No.
Zach
And still.
Joe
Huh?
What are we talking about?
Ocho
Kendrick Perkins blamed Greg popovich for the 65 game rule. I love Greg Popovich. He's one of the greatest coaches ever to coach the game of basketball. But is he's at fault here. He started the whole load management. He. That's how we got to this point. Then everybody else followed. And I. I don't care if the rule affects the awards. The rule was put in for the fans. He ain't lie, Joe, what you think?
Joe
You're absolutely right. He was doing that back. Hell, I remember doing it back in 2004. 5. You know, when they. When they had everything locked up. They just had guys sitting out for no apparent reason.
Chilling.
He got a good point. He got a good point on that, I think. I think Papa Vijay started for sure.
Ocho
He said he one time he sent Tony Parker, Manu and Tim Duncan home. Yeah. On a commercial flight.
Joe
Yeah.
Send him home.
Ocho
Yeah. So y' all go home and put him on a commercial flight.
Joe
Hey, and that's why Kawhi adopted it on his own. Kawhi like, damn that wherever I go, I'm load, man. I ain't studying that.
Ocho
Yep.
Joe
Hey.
Hey, Joe. Hey, Joe. How tall is Kawhi?
He beat about my height by 6 7. 6, 6, 6, 7. I probably got him by like an inch or so. We about six, seven.
Yeah. Boy, he be getting to it, right?
Yeah, yeah, he do it. He had a hell of a year this year. Hell, he just played when he want to, though.
Hey, I wonder what. I wonder what he did for his knee problems, because this year he ain't really had no problems.
Ocho
Well, he missed. He didn't play till like January, Ocho.
Joe
Yeah, he missed a lot of the season. He been out of the award thing.
Okay.
Ocho
I think. And plus, the thing is, I mean, he done tried everything. I mean, I'm sure he done tried prp. He done tried everything. I wouldn't be surprised if he. Because a lot of times the, the. The. The big dollar athletes, they go over to Germany because Germany will do things that the US Won't allow you. They'll. You add a little extra too. You know what I'm saying? Little extra.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
Put that Little. Hey, you know they told J. Put that on there overseas, don't you? They put a little extra in that thing.
Joe
Yeah, yeah.
Ocho
Hey, don't be surprised.
Joe
Hey, I'm like, hey, I have.
Ocho
Hey, man, wait up. What I'm doing in Germany come back be running a marathon. Yeah, you're right. You're absolutely right. This. This rule would have never been in place had guys been playing. And because you can't, like, hey, and like you said, Joe, if the guy say he's hurt, you don't want to call the guy a lie. You just got to take his word for it.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
So the NBA says, you know what we gonna do? And. But here's the thing. You can't do anything. The player signed off on it. Yep. That's why we're not. We get mad, but we can't get mad when the players agreed to. To have a. A franchise tag, Right? When they agreed to not have guaranteed contracts, when they agreed to not have lifetime health benefits. We really can't get mad, Ocho, because what they wanted was a few extra nanograms of weed. With the play, the enemy NFL player, the NFL. The owners ain't give a damn about no damn weed at all, but made them think that they did. Yeah, they got a few extra nanograms of weed, still got a franchise tag, still don't have guaranteed money, and still don't have lifetime health benefits. Yep.
Joe
They don't test for weed in the NFL.
Ocho
They don't move up the battleground. So they don't even care about no weed.
Joe
They don't care about that.
They don't even test. They don't even test for this in the NBA no more. You come there high as a kite.
Ocho
Yeah, so. But see, they. But see, they made them think they cared about it. So therefore, like, hey, man, let's smoke a little extra weed. Okay? We give that. See, while you smoking weed, you don't forgot about. They still got that franchise tag, and you still don't get guaranteed contracts, and you still don't get lifetime health benefits, but you get to smoke as much weed as you want. You see how they bargain for petty privileges, man?
Joe
Yeah, that's exactly what it is.
Ocho
Now go look at. Go look at commission. Got lifetime health benefits in his. In his contract. Who is this Commissioner Goodell?
Joe
Our Dewey?
Ocho
Yeah. He got lifetime health benefits.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
He ain't want no. He ain't worry about no weed. But, hey, they want to smoke, let them smoke. Former player Eddie Johnson sparked debate claiming,

Magic Johnson would dominate the NBA without even a single three point shot. Magic would have won seven eight titles in this era. Multiple MVPs averaging 25, 15 and 15 rebounds in this area. Youngsters have zero clue how much he would dominate today's. Game even if he didn't take one three point shot. His name is Irvin. Magic Johnson. Joe seven eight titles.
Joe
I don't know about seven, eight titles. Would he probably win? Win a couple? Probably so just depending on type of team hell he on Uncle Ocho.
Ocho
Yeah.
Joe
That Lakers team won no damn slouch. They had some ballers on that team.
Ocho
Magic in the hall of Fame. Kareem in the hall of Fame. Worthy in the hall of fame. Bob McAdoo is in the hall of Fame. Yeah.
Joe
Acting like he just playing out there with some guys off the block.
Ocho
Magical.
Joe
He, he, he was definitely a hell of a player. One of my favorite players especially being 69 can handle the Rock playmaker. And he ain't really care too much about scoring. So that's why I say, you know, he had to be playing with some, some pretty good damn talent.
Ocho
Yeah, yeah. Yes, I, I think. And plus the fact of the matter is Joe is that Magic wasn't because he had Kareem. You got to realize Kareem, Magic's rookie year, Kareem was the mvp. Yeah. So how you come in and like hey, I'm gonna take this over and that man the MVP. So that gave him six for a career. That man got six MVPs. And you think you finna come in there and be your score going up and down that. But as, but as Kareem started to slow, Pat Riley went to him and said book. That's what he called for a Magic buck for young buck. Hey, I need you to score more.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
Ask Magic what he told what he told Pat Riley. You talking to Cap about this? Yeah, you need to talk to Cap by Cap need to be okay with this. Yeah, yeah, I talked to him. He cool with. Okay.
Joe
Yeah, I agree. But yeah, I think he would have been a hell of a player in this era. He would have been a mismatch problem. And at his height, with his iq, being able to post up, being able to play make, he would have been a nightmare for sure.
Ocho
Yeah, you put him, you put him with a. You. I'm trying to think who a solid big. You put him with. Let's just say Joel and B could stay healthy. Dude.
Joe
Yeah.
You know. You know what? Magic is one of the few players on. You think about some of the great players back then that even made the hall of fame in the 80s and the 90s. Some still aren't as gifted or athletically athletically as skilled as today's players. I think some would struggle, but Magic is one of Those that could play in any goddamn era.
Yeah, yeah.
You can play within any era simply because of his skill set, his IQ and his vision.
Ocho
But as hard as Magic work, because basically he's LeBron, is Magic Johnson just more athletic?
Joe
Yeah, I agree.
Ocho
His ability to see the court, his ability to make the passes, his ability to post because the thing that Magic could do because what? No guard his height? So he post your ass up.
Joe
Yeah,
yeah. His feel for the game was different, bro.
Ocho
Yes, yes. I don't know. I. I agree with you, Joe. I don't know about seven, eight. I mean, people, People. Do you realize unless you're a Celtic, you don't know what it's like to win seven, eight titles? And I'm talking about in the, the. The. The. The 50s and 60s.
Joe
Yeah, yeah.
Ocho
I mean, excuse me, the six. Yeah. 50, 60 Celtics. You don't know what it's like to win no damn seven, eight times. Only Robert Oren know what it's like to win seven, eight titles that wasn't a Celtic from those from that era.
Joe
Yeah, yeah.
Ocho
People just throw out an arbitrary number like, oh, yeah, brother, you know how hard it is to win to get to that seven, eight. Yeah, you say three or four. Okay, fine. But they say seven or eight.
Joe
They looking at. They looking at how the game is wide open now. Again, Ojo, you know, you don't play with two traditional bigs, so it would be a lot more space for guys like Magic to operate. Guys like Jordan to operate. This is why they talk about Jordan average 40 in this era. Maybe he would. I think because of the spacing in the game and the way the game is. You can't touch nobody now. Hell, he'll be shooting 15, 20 of them free throws a night.
Ocho
But. But there are a lot of other guys that average 30 in that era. So how many would Dominique average?
Joe
She'd be right there.
Ocho
I mean, Adrian Dantley average.
Joe
Were you right there?
Ocho
How many would Kelly Tripuka. There are a lot of guys. People make it seem like Jordan was the only one scoring 30 points in the 80s. And he wasn't.
Joe
No, he wasn't. He wasn't.
Ocho
But when they say it, they like, well, Jordan. So how many would Dominique Wilkins average? How many would Bird Dog King average? Adrian Daily led the league of scoring for four times.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
So how many. How. He averaged 30. So how many would he score?
Joe
All you gotta do is ask Dominique. He'll tell you. Oh, shit, Joe. I averaged 45 in this era.
Ocho
I just think the thing. I think the thing Is Joe. And guys shoot the ball better now than they did back then. And they have more guys that could do it.
Joe
Yeah, yeah.
Ocho
I mean, you ain't have no guys being able to shoot the ball like Wemby, like Jokic, like Embiid. You have guys can shoot like that,
Joe
not big like that. No, no.
Ocho
I mean, you have guys that can shoot, you know, can shoot 15 foot. David Robinson, Patrick Ewan, Akeem, Big Rick Smith. Yeah, but you got guys, I mean, these guys stepping behind the three and letting it go.
Joe
Yes. Yes, sir.
Rick Smith.
Ocho
It's just, man, it's just hard for guys to let their era go. It is every, Every. You know, guys don't wanna let the era go. Joe, they got. Hey, hey. Y' all done forgot about our era. We got. Bro, we not. We haven't forgotten about your era, but the, the game evolved. Yeah, it's a different game now. And it's okay. I don't. I mean, it's just hard for me to. Our skill set because you put us in. We're receivers, we catch the ball. So we don't really have to do anything different. The game is the only thing they do now different than what we did is that they ran the ball more when we played, they throw the ball more. So if you just put somebody in there, all I do is catch the ball and I don't have to block as much. I'll be straight. Yeah, but in basketball, the game is so different. Like you said, Joe, they played. They played. They had a traditional one through five lineup. A center, a power four, a three, a two and a point. You might be on the damn court with. With two twos or one and. And two fours.
Joe
Yeah, you may be on there with five guards here.
Ocho
Exactly. Exactly. Yeah.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
Robert Perry questioned the entire structure of the modern training, saying, I have a message for players get in better shape. You don't need to load, manage or time, manage, whatever you want to call it. You don't need that. If I have all. If. If I have my facts accurate, they train less in training camp, they have more 1A days instead of 2A days. In practice, they don't practice every day, they practice less. If I were to attend an NBA practice today, it would remind me of a spa. You're going to get ice down, get massages. You're going to get in the jacuzzi, steam room and the sauna. They have everything available to players today. I don't think you get a manicure. I don't think. I don't think you get a manicure and a pedicure. But training camp shouldn't look like that. Training camp and practice should be all about serious business. It should be about basketball related, serious business. Take it personal.
Joe
Yeah, I agree. It's not. Hell, it ain't even the same old one. When I came in, man, we did two a days. It was at one point, Uncle Ocho, if you didn't have five years in the NBA, you had to report to training camp three days earlier than everybody else.
Damn.
Wow. So my second and third year in the league, man, we had about six, seven people in training camp before the Stefan Marbury's independent Hardaways and the Sean Marions had to show up. I'm like, man, look, they get the all fresh day four. Boy, we've been out here dying three whole days. Two a day. Yeah, it's different.
Ocho
That's what that. I had to do that my rookie, my first, My first two years, I had to go early because, you know, sometimes they have it now, Ocho, where rookies report. Report early.
Joe
Yeah, yeah.
Ocho
And then the vets come. Go ahead, Ocho. Yeah.
Joe
No, I was, I was going to say I had to do the same thing. We came in a day early, then the vets came in, and then we did everything all together. At some point after that, you have rookie camp, then you had OTAs, and you had minicamp and minicamp. Everybody. It was everybody all together.
Ocho
We had. We would like, we would do training. We would start the rookies in the first year, guys, younger guys. We would have. We show up two days, three days. So we would practice, we show up early. So we'd have two days of practice and then we would go to Greeley for training camp. So the first two days of practice, we're at the Broncos facilities.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
Then we would go to training camp. But that's, that's like. But like I said, that's how it was. But it was real training camp back then. It was 2A days. Yeah, yeah, it was. You were on your feet. It wasn't like it is now.
Joe
I don't.
Ocho
Like I said, I had been to a training camp in a long time, and with the, the technology that they have, Ocho, and the way they feed these guys, they get every meal prepared. They get breakfast, lunch and dinner. They got cold tubs, they got red. They got the infrared saunas. They got.
Joe
Yeah, they got baths, everything. Man, I'm telling y', all, boy, when I go to the hospital, I'll be so jealous. I ain't gonna Lie to y'. All. I'm talking about they got everything you can want in there working. Two chefs. Two, three chefs in there. I'm talking about big boy food.
Ocho
Yeah. And they. Whatever you want. They cooking salmon, they got trout. Yeah, they cook. They cooking everything. You want baked chicken, baked fish. You know, some people just pescatarian, so they got special diet for them. Some people, I was like, damn. I mean, you want waffle, you want French waffle, you want pancakes?
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
You know, they got turkey sausage, they got vegan sausage, they got chicken sausage, they got pork.
Joe
I'm like, different ball game, boy.
Ocho
They got all the fruit, they got jackfruit, they got pineapples, bananas, apples, blueberry.
Joe
They hook it up, man.
Ocho
Bad ocho, man, do you know. Well, you wouldn't ate none of that. Cause you eating that bull job. But. Oh, shape, hey, they had to do
Joe
you like they did Kaminga hunch.
Ocho
I mean, you know, I. I brought my own food, Joe, because like I said, I wanted to know how much protein I was getting, how much carbohydrate, how much fat, how much sodium, all that stuff.
Joe
Yeah, yeah, right.
Ocho
I can monitor if I brought my own food because my lady was cooking or my girlfriend was cooking for one.
Joe
Right.
Ocho
They prepared a table for 50, 100 people.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
So damn, they got salt. They got, you know, you all the players and the coaches and everybody in the facility eating. Yeah, me, I'm eating my. Hey, I got eight ounce of chicken. I got a sweet potato, baked potato. I got broccoli, I got black eyed peas, or I got green beans. You know, I got a salad and stuff like that. So. But boy, to eat like that, ain't no reason a guy should. A guy should never miss weight. A guy shouldn't be out of shape. With the way they cooking, the way they got the stuff set up now.
Joe
Hey, you have somebody, somebody cook for you all the time.
Ocho
Yeah.
Joe
Hey, man, that big play, Shay, man, I know.
I'm just saying that. That just that that's too much work, man.
Ocho
For them or for me?
Joe
I mean, but for them, they're getting paid, ojo. Yeah, but even if you're getting paid,
Ocho
but that just told you, all you got to do is cook chicken. You cook, you know, you get chicken breasts and you cook X amount. Because I just, I'm eating the same thing every day. I might eat the same thing every day for a month before I said, okay, instead of chicken, give me turkey. Instead of turkey, give me steak.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
So it's either sweet potato, a regular potato. It's broccoli. It's black eyed peas. It's green beans. Every once in a while I do say, that's it. That's it.
Joe
I can't. Yeah, that's. That's tough. That's tough. It just. I don't know. Hey, you ever had. You ever had top ramen?
Ocho
I have a. I heard it's good.
Joe
Yeah, it is, it is. I mean, that's, that's, that's what I would eat, you know, on lunch sometime I get top ramen, you know.
Ocho
Oh, Marsha over here, she try anything.
Joe
Chicken flavor. Chicken flavor. Top ramen. Hey, Joe, you eat top ramen?
Still no. What's top ramen? What's that? Ojo?
Ocho
It's a fancy name for ramen noodle. The ramen that you used to get out of the pack that they had in college.
Joe
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ocho
It's the same thing. It's just a fancier name for it.
Joe
Okay. Yeah, okay.
Yeah. Joe, I'm, I'm.
Ocho
You hear, you hear Marsha in the background talking?
Joe
What'd she say?
Ocho
Somebody the same thing. Because she tried anything. Hey, she always said to me, look where I am. They had. They had a. Was that a food fair?
Joe
Yeah, she there, there any place.
Ocho
I was like, man, I'll be sitting a tick tock. Oh, you ought to try this place you go love. I like you to be so you a food critic in your party. Every breakfast place, every barbecue place, Ramen noodle. What? What you name a place?
Joe
She done been there, been tried it.
Ocho
I'm like, man, I sure want to try this place. It's unbelievable. Best pancakes.
Joe
I. I went there this morning.
Ocho
See what I'm saying? I went there this morning because I heard that. But they've gotten reviews. I've heard a lot more than one person say they got the best pancake. So I got.
Joe
Wait, what place is it? Huh?
Ocho
In Vegas called Dupars in Suncoast.
Joe
Okay.
Ocho
They. They look fluffy too. Joe, we gotta. Hey, will you come out here? Joe? We text you, Joe.
Joe
I bet.
Ocho
Hey, Ojo, how you doing, man?
Joe
Hey, when we going to Vegas? Hey, when we going to Vegas?
Ocho

Joe

UCLA. The Lady Bruins blow out the Lady Gamecocks to win their very first women's NCAA championship. In her 15th season at the helm, Corey Close pulled off what many didn't believe possible. The 28 point margin of victory is the third largest in Division 1 basket women's championship history. UCLA never trail. Opened up a double digit lead at the end of the first quarter en route to his 31st straight win to make history. Lauren Betts was named most outstanding player in the championship. They put.
Joe
They put BTA to them girls today.
Ocho
Man, they did a number on them
Joe
girls from the start.
Ocho
It wasn't close. I mean look. Held him to 29 shooting from the field, 13 shooting from the three point line. It was just too much size. Nick Hippens and Haz and Kiki Rice, those. They would. They were the better team. It ain't nowhere around it and, and it seemed like to me you could tell early on they were. The Gamecocks were missing layups, missing bunnies and I, I called my sister probably about five minutes into the game. I said it's over. She said the game just getting started. Says it's over. Their championship game was to beat Yukon. Yeah, I beating this team. They got too big, making too many shots.
Joe
They got off to such a slow start. Go ahead, Ocho.
No, I was just gonna say. I was going to say they got off to a slow start. But that goddamn defense, huh? The defense was so suffocating. UCLA was putting and they, they were scoring that goddamn wheel. You can tell there was a difference in understanding why ucla if I'm not ucla, if I'm not mistaken, only lost one game this year.
Ocho
They did.
Joe
I, I think. And you could tell the difference in, in teams. Obviously South Carolina is good but UCLA is a much, much better team all the way around.
Yeah, they, they, I think I thought they had, I thought they physicality. Them big girls at the UCLA obviously best. But I thought. What's her name? Yak. What's her name? Oh yeah. Oh, I don't know how she ain't win mvp. Okay.
Ocho
Did you see the look on Lauren Betts face when they say she's the most outstanding player?
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
Yeah. She was shocked. Me too. I'm sorry. Me too. I was more shocked than you.
Joe
That's Young Bull. That's Young Bull's sister from all the heat, huh?
Yeah. Oh, she balled out. She balled out. I think they whole team balled out. Just, just, just from watching them, they kind of, it seemed like they understood what was at stake. They had never, I don't think they ever been to the championship game.
That was their first national championship, huh?
Yeah. Hey man, them girls came out with their mind made up because I thought South Carolina, you know, they got some dogs obviously, but they just didn't have a size to even compete. I mean they, they girl bets. She was, she, she. I mean she had everybody help Mercy. They couldn't do nothing with her. Nope. Nah.
Ocho
11 rebounds. I mean she was, she was sensational today. I mean the whole team played and they deserved to win. Like you said, the size, they couldn't do anything with the side. They get picked and then they get them in a pin down and they just throw the ball over the top. Layup Hawkheads, they were the defense. When you hold A team to 29 from the field, 13% from the three.
Joe
It seemed like South Carolina got a lot of girls that's kind of similar in height. Like they all can kind of go off the bounce. They all can shoot a little bit, but they just don't have enough size in the paint to be able to withstand a bit. So anybody as of such. You know what I mean?
Ocho
Yes.
Joe
And it showed. It showed today, man. Those girls locked in, bro.
Ocho
Two of the bigs. Chloe Kiss is out. She tore knee. Watkins is dealing with some other issues. I think she might have tore her knee, but she had some issues going on. So maybe she's back. But the guys that. Joyce Edwards did not play well. Watson, who was the All American, she did not play well. Raven Johnson didn't play well. Tessa Johnson was really the only one that played well. McCar. She shot the ball okay. Yeah, they didn't play. They didn't play well. And that had to do with UCLA and the defense that they give them credit. Yeah, yeah. South Carolina didn't shoot the ball well, but it went out there by themselves. Somebody forced them to miss those shots. Yeah, like you said, they got behind early and it just. It just grew.
Joe
It did, man. It was just like.
Hey. Hey, Joe. How tall was the five from UCLA? How tall is she?
67.
Ocho
Yeah, that's the one we was talking about.
Joe
Yeah, I know, I know. I wasn't tripping.
Yeah, she a big girl. She was a low ocho. Yeah, I'm talking about. They couldn't do nothing with her down there.
Ocho
And the thing is, remember, Joe, she had that bell. She was coughing on the sideline like she had an asthma attack or something early.
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
They needed to carve into that league while she was out. And when they couldn't get. They couldn't gain any traction while she was out.
Joe
Yeah. Cause UCLA still build on the lead when she was sitting on the bench.
Ocho
Absolutely.
Joe
Yeah, you're right. You're right. They just didn't play.
Ocho
They didn't play well. Congratulations, Gamecocks. You went. I wasn't at their fourth or fifth straight title game. Well, yeah, I think. Well, probably the fourth because they went back to back. They won back to back. They lost last year and they lost again this year. But ain't nothing you could do, Joe. The better team won.
Joe
Yeah, yeah. I ain't saying.
Ocho
And then the girls dancing at the end, I was like, go ahead on Ms. Bench.
Joe
Yeah. I ain't see this, though, you know?
You think it's gonna be like this?
Ocho
What? No, I didn't think they'd lose by 20, not 28. I thought the game would be much closer. Yes, I did.
Joe
Now, don't get me wrong. I ain't seen a lot of UCLA play. I may have seen like a game or two, if that, but I've seen South Carolina play on numerous A time.
Right.
And I just did not see that after they beat. After they beat Connecticut, I thought they was almost destined to win it.
Ocho
Yeah.
Joe
But I.
Hell, clearly I hadn't seen who beat ucla.
Ocho
Was it Texas? Was Texas.
Joe
I think it was Texas. Yeah, I think they did.
Ocho
I think Texas is the only one to beat them.
Joe
And they beat Texas in the tournament, didn't they? Yeah. Yeah.
Ocho
And. Yeah. But congratulations to the Lady Bruins. Winning their first NCAA championship finished of the season, 37 and 1. But they got a lot. They got some seniors on that class, I think. I'm trying to think. I think Raven Johnson is a. Is a senior. I think they bring a lot of these girls. I mean, I don't know. They could. I mean, I think Lasso. And I think she comes back,
Joe
she'll senior. You think she come back?
Ocho
I don't think she'll see you. Is she a senior? Is that the one that transferred from Florida State?
Joe
Yeah, I think she. Yeah, she'll senior.
Ocho
Okay.
Joe
She's seen.
Ocho
I know Raven Johnson's a senior.
Joe
Yeah, I think UCLA got a lot of seniors too. Who gonna.
Ocho
Yeah, I saw that. And she hugged. She hugged the lady, the UCLA coach before the game. Who did? Don.
Joe
Did she.
Ocho
Don Staley?
Joe
Yeah.
Ocho
Yeah. But no, it's gonna be. It's gonna be a situation where, you know, Carolina be back. Don Staley is a very good coach.
Joe
And she got some good recruits coming in, too.
Ocho
Yep. I think she got that girl that won the dunk contest. Isn't the girl that won the dunk contest coming in from McDonald's all America?
Joe
I think so.
Ocho
Going to Carolina?
Joe
I think so. I think so. But I know she got another girl coming who go to Sierra Canyon out there in. Yeah, la. I forgot her name, but she could play.
Ocho
Yeah, that's where juju went. Sierra Canyon.
Joe
Yeah.

In this episode of Club Shay Shay Nightcap Hour 2, hosts Ocho and Joe dig deep into recent controversies and hot takes in the sports world. They debate the NBA's investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks' handling of Giannis Antetokounmpo, discuss Kendrick Perkins blaming Gregg Popovich for the NBA’s 65-game rule, analyze Eddie Johnson's claim that Magic Johnson would dominate in today’s NBA, and address Robert Perry’s criticisms of modern basketball training. They wrap up with a lively breakdown of UCLA’s commanding victory in the NCAA Women’s Championship. Throughout, the exchanges are candid, playful, and full of rich anecdotes from the hosts’ own professional experiences.
On value of star athletes:
"You might sell a car that's wrecked... But you ain't gonna get the value for it it was in pristine condition."
— Ocho, on protecting Giannis’ trade value [06:20]
On load management’s origins:
"One time [Popovich] sent Tony Parker, Manu and Tim Duncan home. On a commercial flight."
— Ocho [12:36]
On collective bargaining trade-offs:
"They made them think they cared about it. So therefore, like, hey, man, let's smoke a little extra weed. ...While you smoking weed, you don't forgot about... still got that franchise tag, and you still don't get guaranteed contracts, and you still don't get lifetime health benefits..."
— Ocho [15:28-15:53]
On Magic Johnson’s hypothetical dominance:
"Magic would have won seven eight titles in this era... averaging 25, 15 and 15... even if he didn't take one three point shot."
— Ocho (quoting Eddie Johnson) [21:07]
On today’s NBA training:
"If I were to attend an NBA practice today, it would remind me of a spa. ...I don't think you get a manicure and a pedicure. But training camp shouldn't look like that."
— Ocho (quoting Robert Perry) [28:02]
On the NCAA championship result:
"They put BTA to them girls today. ...It wasn't close."
— Joe [40:13]
The hosts blend locker-room storytelling, sharp sports insight, and off-the-cuff humor. They speak candidly about the evolving landscape of sports, frequently invoking their own experiences to contrast past and present. The tone is irreverent but knowledgeable, mixing analysis with playful jabs.
This episode offers a lively and comprehensive look at several burning topics in basketball, from player management and league rules to the cultural evolution of the sport. The chemistry between the hosts keeps the discussion entertaining, making it an informative listen for both hardcore and casual fans.
