So now he has somebody that can. If you don't. If you don't double biker, he's gonna get you. If you don't double Micah, he gonna get your quarterback. Yeah, he's Gonna pressure your quarterback. So now, right now, teams a little bit more concerned about Micah than they are ran Gary. Gary is getting a lot of one on ones and he's winning. I think he's probably up there close to his total for his career high. I think his career high is like nine. He's gonna have double digit. I can see a scenario. He has 13, 14 sacks and that's because of the guy that's opposite of him. But I think a lot of this had to do with egos. I think Jerry, you know, Jerry wanted to draw a line in the sand. He didn't like the way the negotiation was going. He felt he had a deal with Michael. When Michael shook his hand and X, Y and Z, he said Micah called the meeting. Michael said he wanted to meet with him, he wanted to talk to him. And he thought that, you know, he thought one thing, Micah thought another thing. And from that point on, Jerry was done. Jerry was not going to do. And Jerry made it abundantly clear if, if you play in Dallas this year, you're going to play under your current contract. There is no, there is no contract extension you're going to play with, on your, on your rookie deal.

Hey. And you understand that especially way he's handled other, other contracts and waiting to the last minute to get them done making those players wait as well. And it doesn't. You're, you're not special. You're not any more special than Dak. You're not any more special than. Than Zeke, you know, not any more special than CD Lamb. So when he. I mean, I feel like the system we got and the scheme we got, it's. It's built around our players and what we able to do is like, it's built for our skill set. And you know, we've been in this system. It's our second year going on in the system, so we all comfortable with each other, especially in the secondary like this the first place, like the first time I seen. Let's bring back a whole like secondary unit, you know what I'm saying?

Yeah, usually every year the room changes, you know what I'm saying? But you know, since we did that, that just helps us play even faster because we're more comfortable with each other and you know, know how, how each other play.

I mean, I'm real comfortable. Like I. I'm real comfortable how Sulacar's game and I'm real comfortable with, with all my teammates, you know what I'm saying? And I just like flying around with those guys like we out there making plays, you know what I'm saying? You know, trying to keep doing that.

Hey, does your coach, your defensive coordinator do. Does he allow you the freedom to do things off script? That really, really isn't part of X and O's, but because you're the one out there on the field and playing the game and you have a feel for stuff. Can you go off script and do stuff based on what you've seen on film?

I mean, you know, as long as you make the play, you know what I'm saying, they ain't gonna be too mad. But now they do emphasize on us not being robots though, you know what I'm saying? They don't want to take the football instincts away from us, you know what I'm saying? So he, listen, he lets us play how we play, you know what I'm saying? We gonna Always go within the scheme. Scheme, you know, in a play call. But, you know, he lets us go out there and fly around.

Okay, you're known for your physical style of play. How'd you get the. How you get the nickname Cam Bam?

I got that name, like, in high school. It was a. I ain't gonna lie. You know, the. The females used to call me that, you know what I'm saying? They always get into the playoffs, you know, so it was just. It felt like the right fit, you know what I'm saying? It's a bunch of young, hungry guys on the, on the defensive side with some stuff to prove. And, you know, I felt like I fit right in.

You came in the league. Kind of like I came in the league. I was self around draft pick. I was 192. You were seventh round draft pick. And I, I never felt like I made it. I feel like I had to go out there every Single year and reprove myself that, like, I got to give them one reason. And I always get this mindset I gotta get. When I went to practice, Cam, I went. I said, I got to give him one reason to keep me. Just one. Yeah, man, you see that route sharp ranch, man, you see that catch that he made? You see how he picked up that blip? Just one. I needed one reason for him to say, yeah, we got to keep him another day. What. What was your mindset coming in? You got a seventh round draft pick. The Commanders, what was your mindset? Because, you know, normally seventh round picks don't count bodies.

They just. Hey, they need somebody to fill out the roster. They ain't really try. They ain't really try to give us no look, but you got to see me, because I'm gonna make you look.

Just to try to make this team, you know, coming in because I was the only rookie DB they had picked up that whole, like, draft process, you know, they ain't picking up friends up or nothing. So I was the only rookie DB in the room. So, like, it's like, I'm going against vets, I'm competing against vets, you know what I'm saying? People already been in, so I just know how to take everything to the next level. And, you know, all my vets there back then at 2020 season, like, they really brought me in, you know what I'm saying, and showed me the way and I just sat back, watched them and learned and, you know, started making plays.

I feel like it's a. It's a difference. I feel like in Washington, it was more of like, you know, like a. Like a straightforward. This is what we doing, you know what I'm saying? We not really. We wasn't really doing no disguising, like, you know, damn, man.

I ain't even know it was coverage, you know what I'm saying? So it's a real complex defense, and it fits us because we got real smart players on our defense, you know what I'm saying? That can think on the fly, you know what I'm saying? And we communicate very well. Like this defense, communication is key, for sure.

And it's. It's funny when you talk about defenses being very complex and you're able to do more with the defense when you have the right players with this, with the right skill set and can communicate. It brings me back to that 2000 Ravens, that 2000, early 2000 Steelers defense. But KC they used to run defenses that weren't even on film. Yeah, they weren't on film. And people were always out of position, but they were so good with a great understanding of being able to communicate and when the ball snaps and they fly back to exactly where they supposed to be at. But it was so confusing for me as an officer player. So the fact that you guys are able to do that, to run complex stuff that you really don't see on film, you really don't know what's coming.

And keep an offense thinking all the time, especially at the snap and after the snap of the ball. You always have an advantage. Always have an advantage defensively for sure, man.

His 2020 season, he had 690 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns, which are both career highs. He also said that he also. I think he won two Super Bowls. On the field unless they do something off the field and we have to talk about it. But trust me, I've never gone to a producer. Be it at espn, be, oh, oh, I want to talk about this. We talk about it. We talk about it. If we don't, we don't. I'm good either way, right? That way I don't really get involved in the topics. I talk about anything. I can talk about it on this. Why? Because I follow. I follow football close enough. I follow basketball close enough. I follow the things that I feel we're going to talk about, Ocho. Close enough that I could have an intelligent, honest conversation about it without making it personal. Right. Oh, you did this. I never. I'd never called for a video of Russ and his bloopers. Y' all get mad at me talking about, well, it was. No, it was Russ hit the top of the backboard. It was Russ that air balled it. All we did was. All I did was talk about it. That's what I did. Right. Just like when he got the triple doubles. When we was talking about Russ getting a triple double and we were highlighting him, nobody had a problem. So what you want us to do when he's not playing well or he's not and he's turning the ball over? Should we not talk about it?

Is going to speak volumes. It's going to speak volumes. And the whole notoriety, comment, job is going to be job regardless. No matter, no matter where he went, no matter what NBA team he was playing for. He could have been down in, in Shanghai. He was going to make ESPN in Shanghai. Yeah, ESPN was going to travel to Shanghai to go feature and show everything he had been doing. Because he is box office. He's one of those type of players that puts butts in the seats. That's just who he is based on his skill set, his makeup, his DNA, that's just who he is. So, I mean, no one is responsible for that outside of the individual himself.

Yeah, yeah. But, you know, notoriety is infamous. Is that you're known for things that you would like not to be known for. That's John did that. Deandre Ayton is trying to stay motivated on the court and revealed that several of his teammates have made it a habit to troll him off the court as motivational tactics. They all have their own little things to get my head all mixed up. Austin Reeves is my guy. Luca is my guy. But my wings and my forwards, yeah, they be trying to get me ticked off before these games just to get me rolling. I'm starting to see it as a trend because I don't. I don't get a break until we're on the court. Then all it's all serious. I'm like, oh, this is the thing y' all want me to do. Do y' all want me to get, get on edge? Y' all want me to be fired up? I like it. Dudes really care on Sunday night. The big man tally 22 points and grab 15 boards. So maybe it's work. It ain't working tonight. Cause I think they losing the Portland right now.

Listen, the funny thing about it, listen, he's been a part of the locker room for a very long time. Anything that happens to you on or off the court, you know, the jokes are coming. The jokes are going to fly always. And then listen, whether it be a motivate, motivating tactic or not, they're going to make fun of any situations that you have. As long as it was nothing that was harmful. Oh, them jokes won't fly on you. You. You've been in locker rooms now still to this day. Certain things, certain jokes still fly that, that resonate. And stuff happens to you that's going to stay with you forever. You Know, and, and your teammates, man, they gonna make fun of it all the goddamn time.

I mean, hey, hey, boy, it's different now. You know that this NBA now sometimes you get that kind of money and you relax and you sit down. There are very few that make, make a hundred million and, and still play the game like they ain't got a dollar to their name. There are very few. Again, I'm g. Say it again. You, you've seen it before in football. Now I, I can't really make a test to it when it comes to basketball, but you can because that's something that you love and am passionate about. But think about how many players in the NFL that you seen get paid and all of a sudden they disappear. Now they out there, they on the roster. But the play, which is the reason why they got the money they got, for some reason it just disappears. The hungry, the, the hunger, the drive.

The want to eventually to wear off. I can motivate you by fear. I can motivate you by money. But the only thing that's sustainable is self motivation. So eventually, Ocho, I can make or crack all the jokes I want. Yeah, I can pay you all the money that I want. I can put fear that I'm going to really. Obviously in basketball the money's guaranteed. So once you give him, once he signs his name on the contract and you sign your name on the contract, it doesn't, it doesn't mean anything because you can't scare him anymore. Yeah, but if a guy that's not self motivated, ain't nothing you can do.

But also too, when you're in that kind of environment, it's only 15 guys. You playing as the Lakers, one of the best franchises of all time. You understand the legacy that they have. They've won multiple championships. You don't want, you don't want to let those guys down, huh? Everybody's watching you now. That's all the motivation you need. The money ain't the motivation. At this point. You're playing for the Los Angeles Lakers when you play. What happened?

There's 15 little guys in every locker room. And he wasn't motivated in Phoenix, he wasn't motivated in Portland. What makes you think he's going to come and be motivated in la?
