After my Broncos ran over the Cowboys yesterday for 179 yards and Bo Nicks throwing for 274 and four touchdowns, Jerry Jones gave a brutal, honest quote about his Cowboys. I don't know. I don't know what's realistic. Could one, could one, could one better player, if we didn't pay too big of a price, have a better player on defense, possibly help? I'm not trying to be cute, but that's when you go get help because you think that you could go get help for your defense. Are we one player away on defense? I think we're not. I think we're more than that, but we're closer than it looks in my mind, is executing better on defense. Ocho.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Now, this is what I don't get. The reports are that he inquired about Trey Hendrickson from the. From the Bengals. What I don't get, you had Micah that's four years younger than Trey.
Cam Curl
Right.
Chad Ochocinco
But you say no to that. Now, if you sign. If you sign Miles Garrett, what you got back, you're going to have to give up more to get a player like Miles Garrett than what you got for Michael Parsons.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Some. Maybe he wasn't thinking because Jerry Jones did say they were better off defensively with Michael Parsons going. You said.
Chad Ochocinco
He said that. He told it.
NBC/Walmart Advertiser
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
You said when Kenny Clark came, it makes your defense better. And you also said, well, we were no closer to winning a Super bowl with Michael Parsons. So what's going to be the difference when he's not here? So all those things are now coming back to haunt you because now Your defense is 31st in the league, right above us.
Chad Ochocinco
But I've always thought that was a weak link. I think the thing is, Ocho, is that you look at. Because they didn't have another player opposite of Micah. Who see, he got Rashawn Gary now. So now he has somebody that can. If you don't. If you don't double biker, he's gonna get you. If you don't double Micah, he gonna get your quarterback. Yeah, he's Gonna pressure your quarterback. So now, right now, teams a little bit more concerned about Micah than they are ran Gary. Gary is getting a lot of one on ones and he's winning. I think he's probably up there close to his total for his career high. I think his career high is like nine. He's gonna have double digit. I can see a scenario. He has 13, 14 sacks and that's because of the guy that's opposite of him. But I think a lot of this had to do with egos. I think Jerry, you know, Jerry wanted to draw a line in the sand. He didn't like the way the negotiation was going. He felt he had a deal with Michael. When Michael shook his hand and X, Y and Z, he said Micah called the meeting. Michael said he wanted to meet with him, he wanted to talk to him. And he thought that, you know, he thought one thing, Micah thought another thing. And from that point on, Jerry was done. Jerry was not going to do. And Jerry made it abundantly clear if, if you play in Dallas this year, you're going to play under your current contract. There is no, there is no contract extension you're going to play with, on your, on your rookie deal.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey. And you understand that especially way he's handled other, other contracts and waiting to the last minute to get them done making those players wait as well. And it doesn't. You're, you're not special. You're not any more special than Dak. You're not any more special than. Than Zeke, you know, not any more special than CD Lamb. So when he. And one thing about Jerry, he's one of the few owners that you're not going to bully. No, you're not gonna, you're not gonna bully me. This. I'm, I'm, I am the program.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. I think in that situation, Ocho, Jerry is a guy, you got to make him feel good. Yeah. Jerry, you know, I really want to be here. X, Y and Z, so forth and so on. And like I said, the number that he got, Jerry wasn't willing to go there. But, but Jerry would at the time. I guess it was going to be a number bigger than what Micah. Excuse me, what Miles Gary got. So it's gonna be something around there. Now, was he gonna go in the blind and play 47 million? Hell no. When the highest, when the highest contract at that time for a defensive player was Nick BOSA at around 32, 33 million. And you mean to tell me you're going to have somebody go 13, 14 more million per year than the highest paid. Hell, no.
Shannon Sharpe
Absolutely not.
Chad Ochocinco
So Jerry felt he made a very good, a very compelling offer, that he was willing to go make him the highest paid, give him $40 million a year annually. And I don't know what the guarantee was, but when that, when that fell through, Jerry was no longer interested in.
Cam Curl
In, In. In.
Chad Ochocinco
In dealing with it.
Shannon Sharpe
He wasn't budging. He wasn't budgeting.
Chad Ochocinco
Excuse me. He was set. This is what I offered. I'm not going a penny more. Yeah, this is it. And like you said, now, because everything that was going wrong before, you know, oh, you know, we didn't do this when Michael was here and Michael couldn't stop to run and yada, yada, it was a lot of Micah. I ain't heard him mention Michael lately. You're running through you.
Shannon Sharpe
You can't. You can't mention them. And, and listen, Michael Parsons, whether they were running through you or not, when he was there, he was an impact player, right? He changed. He can change the trajectory of a game at any point. He can end games at any point. He is a massive disruptor all four quarters. Now, you don't have that. You don't have that.
Chad Ochocinco
No, no, it's. Look, the, the linebackers aren't that good. Your corners, I mean, the Bland is your. Yeah, you know, Diggs is out. He's on ir. So you got backups in there. I think Hooker is injured. Yeah, they just, they don't. I mean, they just don't have guys that can shut the, you know, turn the lights out of the place. And that's what. When Dallas was successful, when Dallas were winning, they had that, they had that at every level. You know, they had a Ken Norton, they had a. Had Darren Woodson, and they had a Time, and they had a Haley, and they had those guys. They don't have that now. Yeah, they don't have that. They don't.
Shannon Sharpe
And listen, obviously they're.
Chad Ochocinco
They're. They're immensely talented. They're. They're inconsistent. They're inconsistent. Yeah, the Broncos have a really good defense. They do. The Broncos have a really good defense. And if you are what you say you are defense offensively, that should. You should welcome that challenge. You should welcome that challenge. I thought the Broncos played an unbelievable ball game. Look, I know the Broncos. I thought the Broncos would struggle a little more defensively than what they struggle with the Cowboy, than what they did with the Cowboys offense. I knew the Cowboys offense wasn't going to be able to. No, no, because they're. They're not that good on that side of the football. And they haven't been that good on that side of the football for an extended period of time. And because of. Of the way they're built. They're built to play with a lead if they don't go. Look at the Cowboys when they don't have a lead. Got those small guys, Ocho. Small guys don't build up well against the run.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, they, they on the sides, they on the side. But one thing they can do, they can run, they can run sideline to sideline. But when you come downhill at them.
Chad Ochocinco
I ain't, I ain't trying to go outside. I'm trying to go right down here. I'm trying to go. I'm going right down 95. I don't want nothing. I don't want nothing. I don't want nothing with three letter with three numbers in it because that's a loop. I'm going. I'm going north and south and, and, and that's, that's. That's what the Cowboys are lacking. They lack size. They like. They like a hail raiser. You got to have a. You gotta have. You need one. Oo you got.
Shannon Sharpe
You got to have it all. Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
You need one.
Shannon Sharpe
For any team to succeed. I know we talk about. We talk about skill set. I know we always talk about high character guys, you know, and all this. These. Hey f all that. You need three dogs at the three key positions that can change the game. You need a dog that's a quarterback. You need the dog in that. On. On that front four somewhere either at D tackle, defensive end. And you need a dog at receiver. Sometimes you get lucky. You get your dog at running back. But the three, those are the three most important places where you need a guy. You need that guy. The guy that can change the defense and the dynamic of your offense. Man, stop playing.
Chad Ochocinco
Oh, you know, he's not that good.
Shannon Sharpe
But he's a high character guy.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay. Get your ass ran right.
Chad Ochocinco
It's gonna be interesting to see what the Broncos does moving forward because PS2 is going to be down for it. It looked like he might be placed on IR because he can shut down. He is sensational. He's amazing. And he allow Coop and those other guys to eat Bonito Allen. Those guys stron. They do a great job.

Hi, it's Colin from the Colin Coward Podcast. That would make sense that I would be the host of the Colin Coward podcast. I mean, that's the way I see it. I like things that are built to last. A great team, a well run organization. Same goes for my vodka, Tito's. Made in Austin, Texas. Real care, attention to detail. Distinct, crisp taste. I was just telling my wife the other day, Tito's is the one vodka. It has a completely distinct taste. Been my go to for years, so I like to keep it simple. Tito's soda, one lime. Lot of ice. Shannon Sharpe
We like you about to rob. You about to rob some.
Cam Curl
No, I'm just comfortable, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay.
Chad Ochocinco
Welcome to the show. Ram, safety Cam, Curl Cam. How you doing, man?
Cam Curl
I'm doing good, man. I appreciate y' all for having me.
Chad Ochocinco
Appreciate you coming on the bye week. You guys are coming up the bye week. So what did Cam do in this bye week? So what? So. So take us through your bye week. You had the whole week off. So you. You got out of town. Boom.
Cam Curl
Nah, I ain't even leave. I ain't gonna lie. I stayed here. I was tired.
Chad Ochocinco
Okay.
Cam Curl
Because we did all that traveling, like.
Shannon Sharpe
Right, right.
Cam Curl
Baltimore. That whole week.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Cam Curl
Then we traveled to London and played like within like that certain amount of time. So I was real tired from all the traveling. And we didn't get. I didn't get home to like Monday, 2:30 in the morning.
Chad Ochocinco
Damn.
Cam Curl
Like, I slip all Monday, Tuesday. I went to facility a few days. You know what I'm saying? But I just spent time with the family, really. Just trying to let my Body rest.
Chad Ochocinco
Okay.
Shannon Sharpe
You ain't do nothing outside of that though, like to get away, just to get away from the game of football, I mean.
Cam Curl
Yeah, like, you know, I took the kids to the park and stuff, like, you know what I'm saying? Like just a little, little stuff. I ain't do nothing. Crazy. Crazy.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, I like it.
Chad Ochocinco
You're that. You guys are number one. The first, your first. The red zone. Defensive touchdowns allow 13 points, allow eighth and takeaways. What do you think the biggest reason you guys have having such success on the defensive side of the football?
Cam Curl
I mean, I feel like the system we got and the scheme we got, it's. It's built around our players and what we able to do is like, it's built for our skill set. And you know, we've been in this system. It's our second year going on in the system, so we all comfortable with each other, especially in the secondary like this the first place, like the first time I seen. Let's bring back a whole like secondary unit, you know what I'm saying?
Chad Ochocinco
Same group came back for a second.
Cam Curl
Yeah, usually every year the room changes, you know what I'm saying? But you know, since we did that, that just helps us play even faster because we're more comfortable with each other and you know, know how, how each other play.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. And now that you are in your second year of this other defense, how comfortable are you? You know.
Cam Curl
I mean, I'm real comfortable. Like I. I'm real comfortable how Sulacar's game and I'm real comfortable with, with all my teammates, you know what I'm saying? And I just like flying around with those guys like we out there making plays, you know what I'm saying? You know, trying to keep doing that.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, does your coach, your defensive coordinator do. Does he allow you the freedom to do things off script? That really, really isn't part of X and O's, but because you're the one out there on the field and playing the game and you have a feel for stuff. Can you go off script and do stuff based on what you've seen on film?
Cam Curl
I mean, you know, as long as you make the play, you know what I'm saying, they ain't gonna be too mad. But now they do emphasize on us not being robots though, you know what I'm saying? They don't want to take the football instincts away from us, you know what I'm saying? So he, listen, he lets us play how we play, you know what I'm saying? We gonna Always go within the scheme. Scheme, you know, in a play call. But, you know, he lets us go out there and fly around.
Chad Ochocinco
Okay, you're known for your physical style of play. How'd you get the. How you get the nickname Cam Bam?
Cam Curl
I got that name, like, in high school. It was a. I ain't gonna lie. You know, the. The females used to call me that, you know what I'm saying? Oh, that's what it was, you know, but nah, you know, you know, I bring that boom on the field too, you know what I'm saying? You know, it rhymes, you know, but like, yeah, it's just, it's just a little nickname.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, let me, let me. I got, I got a question for you. Since they call you Cam Bam and you. And you know, for, you know, coming down here, coming to the party, you. You think, you think you, you would have been able to hit me if we were playing. Like, if I just happened to be in this area, you think you would hit me?
Cam Curl
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Like, hey, hold on. You laughing. You see, you think about, hey, you a little thin man up to 20. What you talking about then, what you.
Cam Curl
Were wearing back then?
Shannon Sharpe
Back then, I was 230.
Cam Curl
All right, bro, all right, you got it.
Chad Ochocinco
If you 230, then you got it.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, I would have ran through you, but. Oh, man, don't do, don't do that. Don't do that.
Chad Ochocinco
When you. What was some of the factors? What. What was so appealing for you with signing with the Rams?
Cam Curl
Honestly, like, off the bat, just, you know, Sean Mey, you know what I'm saying? Just even before I got here, just seeing him from afar and, you know, hearing things about him and watching his interview and stuff like, that's just off the bat, like a guy you want to play football for, you know, it's just the type of guy he is. And, you know, I knew it was a winning culture here. You know, they just won the super bowl not too long ago, you know what I'm saying? You know, they. They always get into the playoffs, you know, so it was just. It felt like the right fit, you know what I'm saying? It's a bunch of young, hungry guys on the, on the defensive side with some stuff to prove. And, you know, I felt like I fit right in.
Chad Ochocinco
You came in the league. Kind of like I came in the league. I was self around draft pick. I was 192. You were seventh round draft pick. And I, I never felt like I made it. I feel like I had to go out there every Single year and reprove myself that, like, I got to give them one reason. And I always get this mindset I gotta get. When I went to practice, Cam, I went. I said, I got to give him one reason to keep me. Just one. Yeah, man, you see that route sharp ranch, man, you see that catch that he made? You see how he picked up that blip? Just one. I needed one reason for him to say, yeah, we got to keep him another day. What. What was your mindset coming in? You got a seventh round draft pick. The Commanders, what was your mindset? Because, you know, normally seventh round picks don't count bodies.
Cam Curl
They just.
Chad Ochocinco
They just. Hey, they need somebody to fill out the roster. They ain't really try. They ain't really try to give us no look, but you got to see me, because I'm gonna make you look.
Cam Curl
No facts, no my mindset. I mean, I knew getting drafted in the seventh round, like, I was just talking to myself like, you know, I gotta take everything to the next level, you know what I'm saying? Just to try to make this team, you know, coming in because I was the only rookie DB they had picked up that whole, like, draft process, you know, they ain't picking up friends up or nothing. So I was the only rookie DB in the room. So, like, it's like, I'm going against vets, I'm competing against vets, you know what I'm saying? People already been in, so I just know how to take everything to the next level. And, you know, all my vets there back then at 2020 season, like, they really brought me in, you know what I'm saying, and showed me the way and I just sat back, watched them and learned and, you know, started making plays.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, you look.
Chad Ochocinco
You've been in two different. Look, Washington, Louisiana. How similar or how different are the defensive systems that when you were in D.C. compared to what you are in right now in LA?
Cam Curl
I feel like it's a. It's a difference. I feel like in Washington, it was more of like, you know, like a. Like a straightforward. This is what we doing, you know what I'm saying? We not really. We wasn't really doing no disguising, like, you know, damn, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Why are you.
Chad Ochocinco
Just going out there? You ain't got no ski mask, you ain't got nothing. You ain't got no dark clothes on.
Shannon Sharpe
You just going like.
Cam Curl
That's how Dario is, though. Like, you know, I like.
Chad Ochocinco
It is.
Cam Curl
It is.
Chad Ochocinco
I know Jack. I played against Jack.
Cam Curl
We go, you gonna put your position, you Gotta make the play, you know, that's all that matters. And I feel like this Rams defense, it's. It's a. It's a way more complex defense, you know what I'm saying? We run tons of different coverages. Like, it's coverages that I'm. I'm learning about this year. I ain't even know it was coverage, you know what I'm saying? So it's a real complex defense, and it fits us because we got real smart players on our defense, you know what I'm saying? That can think on the fly, you know what I'm saying? And we communicate very well. Like this defense, communication is key, for sure.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
And it's. It's funny when you talk about defenses being very complex and you're able to do more with the defense when you have the right players with this, with the right skill set and can communicate. It brings me back to that 2000 Ravens, that 2000, early 2000 Steelers defense. But KC they used to run defenses that weren't even on film. Yeah, they weren't on film. And people were always out of position, but they were so good with a great understanding of being able to communicate and when the ball snaps and they fly back to exactly where they supposed to be at. But it was so confusing for me as an officer player. So the fact that you guys are able to do that, to run complex stuff that you really don't see on film, you really don't know what's coming.
Cam Curl
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
And keep an offense thinking all the time, especially at the snap and after the snap of the ball. You always have an advantage. Always have an advantage defensively for sure, man.
Chad Ochocinco
Cam, I'm looking at you guys schedules. You got the Saints, Niners, Seahawks, Bucks, Panthers, Cars, Lions, Seahawks, Falcons, Cardinal. Damn, y' all got a lot of birds up in there. The Seahawks, the Cardinals. The Seahawks, the Falcons, the Cardinals. Y' all would try to put some of these birds out their misery.
Cam Curl
Yeah, yeah, we gonna do that for sure, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, speaking of, man, what has it been like, man, to watch Puka Nakua, man, and devonte Adams, man, Devonte Steel. I know, you know, we. We talk about some of the best receivers in the game. You know, they mentioned Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson, you know, JSN and some of those, you know, those. Those younger guys. But to me, devonte Adams is still the best route runner in the league, man. What is it like playing with him?
Cam Curl
But it's crazy, man, just starting off like at practice, just watching every day at practice and Being able to go against those type of guys every day, it makes us a lot better as a defense. Because every, every team, you're not seeing that every day.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, you know, every day.
Cam Curl
So that's, that's just making us better. And then to add Matthew Stafford in the mix with those two, like, it's crazy, but like, it's just, it's amazing to see him practice for sure.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
And it's hard to like, oh, why follow the quarterback eyes. And Matthew Stafford looking over here and he throwing the ball over there. He's looking over there, throwing the ball over here. You're like, coach, why you go there? Because he was looking over there. You said follow the quarterback eyes.
Cam Curl
He do that to some practice too. It's not just them.
Shannon Sharpe
He do it to us too.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, when we saw it on the tape, because in the game, you didn't know it because I was at the super bowl when he threw, when he did that in the super bowl, when he threw, hey, he was looking like this here and he threw the ball and, and Cooper cup ended up catching it. It was right because the linebacker was dead right. If he looks at it, the linebacker's gonna pick it. But because he was looking over here and he threw it, he said, oh, he ain't finna throw it.
Shannon Sharpe
Like, oh my goodness, right off his ear hole. That was nice.
Cam Curl
That's crazy that we see that every day, man. It's crazy to watch.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, you know Coach Yarb's still a receiver. Coach, huh?
Cam Curl
Yeah, yeah, my dog.
Shannon Sharpe
That was my coach at Oregon State.
Cam Curl
For real? Yeah. No, Yard's a cool dude, man.
Shannon Sharpe

Hi, it's Colin from the Colin Coward podcast. That would make sense that I would be the host of the Colin Coward podcast. I mean, that's the way I see it. I've been around long enough to know quality when I see it. Or in this case, when I taste it. Tito's handmade vodka. Good stuff. No flash, no gimmicks. Smooth, clean tasting. Made the right way.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay.
Colin Cowherd
I like things that are built to last. A great team, a well run organization. Same goes for my vodka, Tito's. Made in Austin, Texas. Real care, attention to detail, distinct, crisp taste. I was just telling my wife the other day, Tito's is the one vodka. It has a completely distinct taste. Been my go to for years, so I like to keep it simple. Tito's soda, one lime, a lot of ice. Refreshing, easy summer, winter, spring. Totally versatile. Always works. Listen, baseball season's here. Your team's going to play 162 games. A perfect time to kick back with some Tito's. It's what I pour. You should, too. Distilled and bottled by 5th Generation Inc. Austin, Texas. 40% alcohol by volume. Savor responsibly.
Chad Ochocinco
Man, Ocho, what's up? Micah. He just can't let it go. Last night he blasted how the Cowboys have treated Trayvon Diggs. He told Yuri Epstein of Yahoo Sports. Honestly, I feel like they f my dog over, you know what I mean? He's coming off a catastrophic knee injury, and I just think they did. They did right by him. I don't think that. I didn't think they did right by him. He didn't participate all camp. He's going out there playing week one and two and I just think you don't do that. I just don't think you do that to a player like that. And the type of knee injury that he had, they forced him out there. He has no reps, really. He's telling me he was in warm ups phase during the week one. Even though, even with the ramp up, I just feel like, just don't do that. I just feel like they screwed him over. The organization let him down. You know what I mean? If you just don't do that to a player. And I think it was mad wrong and I just pray for him now. You know, Micah and Trayvon are really, really good friends.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
It seems to be. He's echoing what Trayvon relayed to him.
Cam Curl
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
What he can't say himself, what he can't say.
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
I tell Michael, Michael ain't here. Michael, you say it.
Shannon Sharpe
I can see where Mike is coming from, obviously, coming off an injury like that also. But you have to think on the cowboys in, well, if you're coming off an injury and you know, why don't you. Why don't you be here with us? Why don't you rehab with us so we can. We can, hey, we can watch you and we can dictate how far along you are, but when you're not here, we don't know.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, you don't know.
Shannon Sharpe
So when you do come back, you know, boom, we. We think you're ready because you taking care of your business away from the facility, you know, doing it your way with your own doctors or whatever, that's what you think you may have. So now we don't. We don't. We don't know. So when you come back here, we expecting you to be ready.
Chad Ochocinco
Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
So that's where that comes from. And putting them out there. If he's not ready now, you come back and say, oh, you're not ready. And you was out there doing things.
Colin Cowherd
Your way and you weren't here.
Chad Ochocinco
If you're here and you're not ready, that's one thing. You're there and you're not ready because, you know, we can. We can update it. Okay, the progress. Jared's gonna come ask the trainers. How far along is Trayvon?
Shannon Sharpe
Yes.
Chad Ochocinco
Will he be able to go week one? Do we need to put him on the PUP list? What do we need to do? Well, you're telling us if you're not here training, that you're on schedule and so you no longer need our training staff because you believe the training that you have is going to put you in position to be where you need to be.
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Chad Ochocinco
And when they got that kind of money tied up in you, it's gonna be. It's.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, it's tough. It's tough. Which is why they took that 500, 000 from me.
Chad Ochocinco
Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, you don't wanna. Okay, we know what.
Cam Curl
Let it.
Shannon Sharpe
Let us recoup some of this. Let us get some of this back. They can give you a better understanding on how serious we are and how upset we are that you're not taking the onus and getting yourself prepared for the season, upcoming season here in the facility where we can document and keep tabs on how far along you have to go. So we know what to do. So we know to do on our end.
Chad Ochocinco
So I think the thing is, Ocho, is that they put him out there. If I know he's not healthy, I put him out there. I'm gonna make it look bad. So that way, when we release him, ain't nobody gonna feel. Man, you see how my man played? Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Listen, but I know.
Chad Ochocinco
And he had a bad injury. Yeah. I don't know if it's the same because he tore his ACL and then he had another. I don't know if it's the same. Ash. Was it the same knee that he tore his ACL or was it a different knee? But any case, you know, he had two injuries, two knee injuries in the last two years. That's how you ask him an awful lot. Ocho asking an awful lot. And here's the thing. He's predicated. He's going to take risk. You can take those risks when you have a defensive line that can put pressure. When you had Micah and you had D. Law playing at extremely high levels, that was collapsed in the pocket, you could take those risks. Now you. He's still playing that same way, and they don't get that same pressure. But so guess what that means. Big plays. Giving up.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
It's just. It's. It's. It's tough. I see both sides. That's the thing. Oo. And that's what I tell. Look, go. I understand that you want to be away from it because I'm gonna beat. Oh, I'm there all I'm there from. When we get back in training camp, I'm gonna get really one week away. That's the bye week. Other than that, I'm there all of September, October, November, December, hopefully, if we're lucky. Cowboys hadn't been so fortunate all of January. But I know I'm gonna be there for five months. And I know you don't want to be there in the off season. Rehab. And you're there. February, March, April. Guess what? OTA starting April.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Damn. I ain't even get a chance to get a break. Don't. Yo. When they got that kind of money invested in you, when you got that kind of contract, I'm telling you, this is the expectations that they have. And.
Shannon Sharpe
And.
Chad Ochocinco
And. And, you know, they're. You. You're saying that you're ready to go because if you're not there rehabbing and you coming off that serious injury, you better be on your. You bet. You bet that thing better be.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, you better be able to do the Tootsie Roll with that knee and everything. Don't you know? Hey, all that. God, they're gonna be looking. It's like, bro, why. Why weren't you.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. I Know one thing. Even though he's not ready, he probably won't be a Dallas Cowboy.
Chad Ochocinco
No, I don't see a scenario in which he will be next year.
Shannon Sharpe
Listen, Trayvon, boy, you see this? Boy, we come on that. Come on down to Cincinnati, boy. You're gonna love it. You're gonna love it.
Chad Ochocinco
Don't go down to Cincinnati. They ain't gonna put no pressure. They go. They worse than. Think about it. They worse than the Cowboy, Trayvon. And you see what's happening in the secondary in Dallas and. And Cincinnati worse than them.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, listen, come on down now. Come on. We got Newton, D.J. turner, Cam Taylor. We can add you to the pot. The more the better. The more the merrier. Help us improve. We're ranked 32nd right now in defense. You can come in. We need an impact player.
Cam Curl
Huh?
Shannon Sharpe
We got Trey Hendrickson on that edge.
Chad Ochocinco
He won't be there next year.
Shannon Sharpe
That's.
NBC/Walmart Advertiser
Huh.
Chad Ochocinco
He won't be there next year.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, let me.
Colin Cowherd
Let me.
Shannon Sharpe
Let me pitch my. Let me pitch my stuff to Trayvon.
Chad Ochocinco
Well, don't lie to him and get. Get him there. And the people that you say gonna be there, not gonna be there.
Shannon Sharpe
All right, well, we need an impact player, and he can come back. You chill, rest, get your knee together, come back next season. Boom. By that time, you're gonna be. We gonna get the. Trayvon Diggs are old and number seven is available.
Chad Ochocinco
And you. You ever call the store and they tell you they got something and when you get up there, they ain't got it? Oh, I thought we had it. That's why I called, cuz I. You think I would have brought my ass up here if you didn't have it? I came up here because you told me you had it. You could have told me that on the phone that you didn't have it. And by the way, you know you didn't have it.
Shannon Sharpe
Ah, now you done got me up here for no goddamn.
Chad Ochocinco
You got. Now you got me up here. Well, I'm sorry. No, you not sorry. You could have took your ass right behind, got from behind this counter and come back there.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, but.
Chad Ochocinco
Oh, I'm sorry.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on. They get slick with you too, now? Well, since you're here, you. You mind if I show you something else?
Chad Ochocinco
No. I walk my ass in there. I walk up out of here. No, it's like I go. If I go looking for something. Ocho, do you have a. The brown loafers, they come back, we didn't have the brown, but we got black and ox blood. I didn't ask for either one of those. I asked for brown. Yeah, well, no, if I'd have wanted black or ox blood, guess what I said. You have a black loafer or oxblood Loafer. That's what I would have asked for. I didn't ask for that.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on, hold on. You just slick. Just. You just slicked through that word in there.
NBC/Walmart Advertiser
That.
Shannon Sharpe
That sound like a big word and that sound like a color.
Chad Ochocinco
Ox blood.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. What's that? What's that? Hey, you.
Cam Curl
Hey, you get.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, you. Hey, you getting real fancy. You getting real fancy.
Chad Ochocinco
Ox blood?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, what that mean? What color that is?
Chad Ochocinco
What part of the reddish.
Shannon Sharpe
Reddish?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Why you just say red then?
Chad Ochocinco
Because it's not red. It's like a.
Shannon Sharpe
You, right? There's no need to be fast.
Chad Ochocinco
Okay, how about this here? We don't have. We do have a cognac or we have a black. How about that? Is that better?
Shannon Sharpe
Kanye. Okay, so why we talk about shoes? Are we talking about alcohol?
Chad Ochocinco
We talk about shoes. The color. Shoes. Colors. Shoes coming.
Shannon Sharpe
Cognac. Okay.
Chad Ochocinco
Color. So dress shoes.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, I got you. I got you. Why don't you just say burgundy?
Chad Ochocinco
Okay.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Are you real? Hey, boy, you real? Are you faster than that?
Chad Ochocinco
Okay. With cognac or burgundy? My bad. Burgundy.
Shannon Sharpe
There you go.
Chad Ochocinco
But I, I just. Look, it's. And I get it. My. You should be one of the happiest men on earth.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
You're somewhere. I mean, if you didn't feel wanted or appreciated in Dallas, they gave up one of their better players and two first round picks for you, and they paid you a boatload of money. So I'm not even worried about Dallas anymore. Yeah, it would have been great to finish my career there, but it didn't happen. For whatever reason. It didn't happen. It didn't happen. Man, Dallas is the last thing on my mind.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, but listen, it might be the last thing on his mind, but when reporters ask him certain questions, then he just. He's gonna answer it.
Chad Ochocinco
I just say, you know what? I, I, I, I'm not there anymore. That's not me. Hey, I still have great friends in that locker room. I wish them nothing but the best. Unless they played. Unless they play the Packers. But other than that, I really. I don't really care to talk about the Cowboys anymore. Yeah, you know, we, We. We know. We know. First of all, they don't need to ask Jerry about Micah either. We know how Jerry feels about Micah. We know how Micah feels about Jerry and the Cowboys. It's Understood. See, what's understood don't need to be discussed. I mean, I wouldn't. There are certain situations you. Would you. Why would you ask somebody when you already know the answer?
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Chad Ochocinco
It's not just because now you want clicks. Now, you know how that man feel about the Cowboys. You know how Jerry feels about Micah. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not even. I'm not even wasting. I'm not even wasting my time even. Even having a discussion about that. But it is a situation where, you know, Diggs, I, I. Maybe he felt that he was healed. Maybe he felt that he was. He was healed well enough, Ocho, instead of having to be in Dallas, he could rehab wherever else he was. I don't know where. I don't know if Dallas is his home. I don't know where his home is. But maybe he had felt he had progressed to the point that he no longer needed to be up under their watch. Right. But when you come back and they give you a physical and the knee is not where it needs to be, they're going to feel some type of way because you could. They. Their feeling is that you could have been here and this could have progressed in a positive manner. Because at the end of the day, Ocho, we paying you money. We're gonna get you on the field. Now. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. I'm saying I understand. I understand all that other stuff that you're saying, but we trying to get you on the field.
Shannon Sharpe
Yep.
Chad Ochocinco
So we got the Steelers reunite Aaron Rodgers with his former wide receiver. Pittsburgh assigning with veteran wide receivers Valdez Scantling, Aaron's former teammate with the packers. Scantling, only 31 years of age, began his professional career in Green Bay playing on the Pack 2021. His 2020 season, he had 690 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns, which are both career highs. He also said that he also. I think he won two Super Bowls. He won two Super Bowls with my homes, if I'm not mistaken. I think he went to Super Bowls with my homes. Oh, so you like. You like this pickup?
Shannon Sharpe
I mean, it's cool. It's cool. It's a player. It's a player that's for me with Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is also for me with him. I think he's gonna be fine. You got another speedster. You add more speed. You already got Calvin Austin. You got DK. Now you add MVs, who also can run and is a deep threat. You can. He can. You can stress the defense. So we're going to see how he's used, what, what positions they put him in. You know, they put him into to make the plays and use his skill set to his strengths in helping that offense. I, I think he's going to be all right.
Chad Ochocinco
I think he was there. He was. He was in San Francisco earlier this year and got released from there. I think he was in Buffalo last year. So hopefully he founds a home that he can stick. Like I said, he's only 31 years of age. He's kind of bounced around the last couple of years, but hopefully he can get there. Stay for to the end of the season. Oh, Kendrick Perkins appeared on out the Mud podcast. He said, I don't F with Ja. You know why I don't f with Ja? The reason I'm so mad at at you. ESPN spent millions of dollars to doing all access on John Memphis. They did that for Ja, bro. I was like the one that was praising John. We anointing you as a chosen one and you f it up. Guess what? Not only did you make you look bad, you made me look bad. They recognize you because of me. Speaking highly of you. It ain't no coincidence that you went from having three games on ESPN to 52. Ja responded. You know the reason I don't for my notoriety. You're the reason for my notoriety perk. Come on, dog. You showing a wild F with you. I don't f with your kind.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, well, listen, they went from three games to being being televised because of Job, because of his play on the basketball court. No, he's very energetic. He's very animated.
Chad Ochocinco
Plays above the flyer.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, he's exciting. He's an exciting player. That is why people have gravitated and ESPN even wanted to, you know, go and do whatever they, whatever it is and spend the millions, you know, to go see him. Jaws made some mistakes. Some mistakes. Some mistakes I'm sure he learned from. He deserves to be in the conversation when it comes to talk about the better basketball players in the NBA. The Steph Curry's, the, the LeBron James, you know, the, the wimies, the Kevin Durant, James Harden. He belongs in the conversation with some of the better players in the NBA, despite him being as young as he is. And listen, we, we all make mistakes, huh? I'm sure, I'm sure at this point he's learned from them. He's not going to get too many more opportunities to make mistakes of that Magn dude and, and kind of stain the NBA shield. But I mean, he's on he's on the right path. He's on the right path. He's a dynamic player. And one of the reasons why he says this is the reason what you're doing right now is why I don't. Why I don't mess with you. What you look right now. Why are you even conversing? And, and, and, you know, that's, That's.
Chad Ochocinco
I, I don't. I don't think to be fair, Perk is not the reason for Jaws notoriety. We have to accept responsibility and accountability for our own actions. But Kirk, having to talk about it on espn, as we all had to do at one point in time, we were pointed. We were disappointed when it initially happened.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
And so we, like, you know what? Hey, he a young. I mean, Josh, 21, 22. 22, 23 years of age, put himself in a bad spot. Let's hope he learns and grow from it. And the next thing you know, guess what? He's back on IG and he got us. He got to stick out again. And I'm like, come on, Jah. You just, you just went there after you were suspended to begin with, and you went there and you talked to Adam Silver, and, you know, you gave this man your word. I'm assuming that you gave him your word that you would not find yourself in this position again. And so that's what. And, and we all had to talk about it. And I think the thing is, what we try not to do is like, you know what? You're not your worst mistake. A lot of times that's, That's. We get labor. We're never our best actions. We're just our worst mistake. Yeah. And so I, I think, you know, look, I don't, I don't want to speak for Perk. You know, I know Perk. Obviously, I know Perk. Perk started out. He was on. He was on Fox. He was undisputed with skipping out. And then he went to ESPN and, And, and, and, and carved out a niche for himself. But, and, and maybe. Maybe is a situation where, where John said, look, I disagree with, with John when he says Perk is the reason why for his notoriety. Maybe, maybe now, like when, when we talk about stuff, Ocho, once we talk about something on here, I'm not going on Twitter to try to, to, to, to. To try to highlight it again.
Shannon Sharpe
Right?
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, I'm done with it. Once I talk about it here, we talk about on the show, I'm done with it. I'm not having a conversation with anybody else about that situation. I'm done with. I've already said what I would. I've already said what I felt I needed to say on that situation. But it's tough. It's really tough. Ocho. In this business, if you have relationships and somebody that you have a relationship with, they mess up. Because now people are sitting there like this here. What you gonna say? Your boy messed up. You ain't gonna say nothing.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, they waited.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. I mean, it's like. It's like that's what they're waiting. They wait. They're waiting on to hear you say something. So for the most part, I just try. Like, if I have a relationship or I speak to someone, I don't really say anything about it. Now, the LeBron situation, everybody knows how I feel about LeBron, so forth and so on, so they automatically assume that I'm kicking it with LeBron up in Brentwood, and anytime he has an event, I'm there. I'm not. People just choose to overlook what I call broad out or I criticize something that he's done. They overlook that. Oh, the clutch checks must not be coming no more. The direct deposit ain't gonna hit no more, bro. No, I just. If he's right, he's right. If he's wrong, he's wrong. It's simply. It ain't no more than that. Clutch don't send me no checks. I was. I was employed by. I was employed by Fox and Undisputed. I was employed by espn. Now I have. We, Ocho, we have our own thing. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Y' all try to make it out to be that. Because when I. When I. If I criticize Broad, it's the checks. If I don't criticize Braun. Oh, see, now, you. You talked about this. You talked about that. No. Yeah, that's what. That's what. In this space, that's what you have to do. It's like, Ocho, if I'm a fireman. Oh, you went in that building and put that five. You ain't going. This building, put that five. What kind of job is that? I'm a fireman. So when you. When you do what we do, we have to talk about certain things? We just do. Yeah. And you want me to give my honest opinion, my honest take on certain things? It's not about a like or dislike, because I don't know the guys well enough to have an opinion one way or another. All I'm talking about is the guys on the court, the basketball play. Now, when we dealt With John, we had to talk about the gun in the club and the ig, stuff like that. We had to talk about that because that wasn't basketball related. But for the most part, when we critique or analyze, we keep it to. On the field unless they do something off the field and we have to talk about it. But trust me, I've never gone to a producer. Be it at espn, be, oh, oh, I want to talk about this. We talk about it. We talk about it. If we don't, we don't. I'm good either way, right? That way I don't really get involved in the topics. I talk about anything. I can talk about it on this. Why? Because I follow. I follow football close enough. I follow basketball close enough. I follow the things that I feel we're going to talk about, Ocho. Close enough that I could have an intelligent, honest conversation about it without making it personal. Right. Oh, you did this. I never. I'd never called for a video of Russ and his bloopers. Y' all get mad at me talking about, well, it was. No, it was Russ hit the top of the backboard. It was Russ that air balled it. All we did was. All I did was talk about it. That's what I did. Right. Just like when he got the triple doubles. When we was talking about Russ getting a triple double and we were highlighting him, nobody had a problem. So what you want us to do when he's not playing well or he's not and he's turning the ball over? Should we not talk about it?
Shannon Sharpe
Right. That's how it works.
Chad Ochocinco
When Tom Brady played good, I had no problem saying, Tom Brady played good. But when Tom played bad, it was a. I had to say he played bad. When Peyton Manning played bad, when Aaron Rodgers played bad, when Patrick Mahomes, when Tony Romo. You just do it. Now, I understand when you look at it like, oh, you said this, but you ain't say this about the black guy. You said it. Really, dude? Is that what we are right now? That's what we doing?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
I mean, I look at the play, I don't say, oh, that black guy threw a touchdown. Oh, the white guy caught the touchdown. Hey, probably like, bro, what are you doing?
Colin Cowherd
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
I mean, listen, those. Those two, they.
Cam Curl
They.
Shannon Sharpe
They got to get it. They got to get it, get it fixed. Maybe. Maybe they won't. But obviously, if they don't fix it, I think maybe the takes on the takes, as far as, you know, Kendrick Perkins, when it comes to talking about John Moran, you have to Be fair, you know, and fair 98 of the time when you do talk about Ja, his play is going to. Is going to speak volumes. It's going to speak volumes. And the whole notoriety, comment, job is going to be job regardless. No matter, no matter where he went, no matter what NBA team he was playing for. He could have been down in, in Shanghai. He was going to make ESPN in Shanghai. Yeah, ESPN was going to travel to Shanghai to go feature and show everything he had been doing. Because he is box office. He's one of those type of players that puts butts in the seats. That's just who he is based on his skill set, his makeup, his DNA, that's just who he is. So, I mean, no one is responsible for that outside of the individual himself.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah, yeah. But, you know, notoriety is infamous. Is that you're known for things that you would like not to be known for. That's John did that. Deandre Ayton is trying to stay motivated on the court and revealed that several of his teammates have made it a habit to troll him off the court as motivational tactics. They all have their own little things to get my head all mixed up. Austin Reeves is my guy. Luca is my guy. But my wings and my forwards, yeah, they be trying to get me ticked off before these games just to get me rolling. I'm starting to see it as a trend because I don't. I don't get a break until we're on the court. Then all it's all serious. I'm like, oh, this is the thing y' all want me to do. Do y' all want me to get, get on edge? Y' all want me to be fired up? I like it. Dudes really care on Sunday night. The big man tally 22 points and grab 15 boards. So maybe it's work. It ain't working tonight. Cause I think they losing the Portland right now.
Shannon Sharpe
Listen, the funny thing about it, listen, he's been a part of the locker room for a very long time. Anything that happens to you on or off the court, you know, the jokes are coming. The jokes are going to fly always. And then listen, whether it be a motivate, motivating tactic or not, they're going to make fun of any situations that you have. As long as it was nothing that was harmful. Oh, them jokes won't fly on you. You. You've been in locker rooms now still to this day. Certain things, certain jokes still fly that, that resonate. And stuff happens to you that's going to stay with you forever. You Know, and, and your teammates, man, they gonna make fun of it all the goddamn time.
Chad Ochocinco
Ojo, what happened? Can you explain this to me?
Shannon Sharpe
What happened?
Chad Ochocinco
How does a guy making a hundred plus million dollars need motivating?
Shannon Sharpe
I mean, hey, hey, boy, it's different now. You know that this NBA now sometimes you get that kind of money and you relax and you sit down. There are very few that make, make a hundred million and, and still play the game like they ain't got a dollar to their name. There are very few. Again, I'm g. Say it again. You, you've seen it before in football. Now I, I can't really make a test to it when it comes to basketball, but you can because that's something that you love and am passionate about. But think about how many players in the NFL that you seen get paid and all of a sudden they disappear. Now they out there, they on the roster. But the play, which is the reason why they got the money they got, for some reason it just disappears. The hungry, the, the hunger, the drive.
Chad Ochocinco
The want to eventually to wear off. I can motivate you by fear. I can motivate you by money. But the only thing that's sustainable is self motivation. So eventually, Ocho, I can make or crack all the jokes I want. Yeah, I can pay you all the money that I want. I can put fear that I'm going to really. Obviously in basketball the money's guaranteed. So once you give him, once he signs his name on the contract and you sign your name on the contract, it doesn't, it doesn't mean anything because you can't scare him anymore. Yeah, but if a guy that's not self motivated, ain't nothing you can do.
Shannon Sharpe
But also too, when you're in that kind of environment, it's only 15 guys. You playing as the Lakers, one of the best franchises of all time. You understand the legacy that they have. They've won multiple championships. You don't want, you don't want to let those guys down, huh? Everybody's watching you now. That's all the motivation you need. The money ain't the motivation. At this point. You're playing for the Los Angeles Lakers when you play. What happened?
Chad Ochocinco
There's 15 little guys in every locker room. And he wasn't motivated in Phoenix, he wasn't motivated in Portland. What makes you think he's going to come and be motivated in la?
Shannon Sharpe
I, I just told you. Where is he playing? He's playing in la. It's different than playing in Portland. It's different than playing In Phoenix.
Chad Ochocinco
Tell me the difference between the polar bear that's in Antarctica and one that's in the zoo in San Diego. Other than his environment, he's still a polar bear.
Shannon Sharpe
I like that. That's a good one. I like that.
Chad Ochocinco
So I understand what the Lakers brand is. I understand what it represents. But at the end of the day, that just happens to be the same individual that the other two places that was in a better brand. He hasn't changed. Nothing about him has changed.
Shannon Sharpe
How's his game so far? I know it's early in the season. How's he been playing?
Cam Curl
Good.
Shannon Sharpe
Huh? Listen, the Lakers needed a big man. Is he the answer? That was the problem last year. It was too small. Is he the answer?
Chad Ochocinco
What's the question?
Shannon Sharpe
Is he the big man that the Lakers needed. Is he the answer?
Chad Ochocinco
Laker. Big men are normally motivated. That's why they're known for the big man. Mike in Minneapolis, to Wilt, to Kareem, to Shaq, to Pow.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay.
Chad Ochocinco
Hey, I. I don't get it. Some things ain't for me. I. It's not for me to understand everything I don't understand because I think the thing is that we work. So you work so hard to get into a positional show.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Ochocinco
And then now you get there because think about, you had to be. I mean, maybe you're so immensely talented. The seven foot. Seven foot. Seven footers. I mean, they're probably only. They're probably maybe a hundred people. In the world of eight billion people, that's seven foot taller. Taller, Right.
Shannon Sharpe
So you know, eight and seven feet tall, too.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. He's seven foot.
Shannon Sharpe
God damn.
Chad Ochocinco
Yeah. So I think the thing is, for me, Ocho, because I had to work so hard, Right. I'm a very motivated, I'm a very self driven person.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, you're different. Mentally, I am. Everybody's not wired that way.
Chad Ochocinco
No, you're right.
Shannon Sharpe
That's. That's what makes that.
Chad Ochocinco
That's why I couldn't coach everybody. Oh, you're a coach's dream. All my employers, man, you. You are a dream. I'm gonna be prepared. I'm gonna do my work. I'm gonna go home. That's it. That's all I want to do.
Shannon Sharpe
That's why you need to coach now.
Chad Ochocinco
Again, you'll get the based on because you got Shay and Luca and you got Steph. That's three guards right there. Now one of those guys go. I mean, Luca normally leads, but. But now they just go front court and back court. So. So he Would have to get selected. And then you got ant man. So Ant man, Shay, Luca, Steph. I don't think he's more popular than any of those guys. So it's gonna have to be. It's gonna have to be at the coaches discretion. Marlene, Spivey. Ocho, when was the last time you guys been to a rodeo? I ain't never been to a rodeo.
Shannon Sharpe
That's a good question.
Chad Ochocinco
Unless they talk about rodeo.
Shannon Sharpe
Matter of fact, the last time I went to the rodeo was down here in Duluth, Georgia when I rode the PBR bull. Deja vu. Yeah, that was my last time at the rodeo. And I told. I told the PBR that obviously I would love to make riding bulls a hobby that I would take. I would take that profession actually serious. And they told me, you know, we're gonna look into it after football season is over, so I might get back in the bull riding. Huh?
Chad Ochocinco
You shouldn't. Huh? James Revello. Oh, yeah. Ocho, if I'm the laker, I ride with you. We can get some good steaks, some cigars with 5,700. No, it's 5,900. Tim's being said. Oh, can you guys wish my wife Natasha. What is it, Natasha? Natasha? A happy birthday. We've been together 11 years. She was an accident a few weeks back. So I'm grateful to be celebrating this one with her. Absolutely. Natasha, happy birthday. Your hubby, you guys been together 11 years.
