Shannon Sharpe
Oh, he's joining us now. He had a breakout performance in the Houston 30 to 6 win over the Steelers AFC wildcard round. A career best 19 carries, 112 yards and a touchdown. Harry is the outstanding running back from the Houston Texans, Woody Marks. Woody, how you doing, bro? What's up? Woody, you muted.
Woody Marks
Doing good. What's up?
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, we're good. ISO, how you doing, bro? You good?
Woody Marks
Yeah, I'm good.
Shannon Sharpe
Just living. Talk to us about that performance. You guys, you. Your best game of your career and you had it on one of the biggest stages, the NFL, the wild card game. You're in Pittsburgh. You know, they. They do a really good job against the run. Why were you guys able to have such success running the football that night?
Woody Marks
Everybody started Wednesday. I knew. I knew it was going to have a big game. Just Wednesday practice. When we first went out there, the guys was linking up and just moving people off the ball. And then it came on to Thursday. I was like, all right, it's carrying on. Then Friday is carrying on. Then we was like, our running back coach, he was like, yeah, we gonna have a good night running the ball. It just came to life right there.
Shannon Sharpe
It seemed like you guys wore them down. They had d' Amico on the sideline. He was talking about. That's what I'm talking about. Wear them out, wear them down. And you guys seem. Because that last touchdown, you broke like cellmate tackles, they're just like, what? The hell with it. It's over. You broke. You broke the wheel. You broke their spirit.
Woody Marks
Yeah, Fisher, who's went down. We kind of heard it. Them talking on. On the back end saying like, man, we running. We running straight at your face. That's what Nick Chubb told us we got to do. So we coming straight at your face. They play bully ball. We're gonna play bully ball, too.
Joe Johnson
Hey, hey, Woody, you from the atm. Hey, what's up, bro? Hey, hey, tell me something. What's the biggest. What's the biggest changes from the. From the regular season to the postseason? That you notice in this year description.
Woody Marks
Of it, you got to be locked in no plays off every play matter fulfill extra points to kick off. How you, where you putting the landmark at? Everything matters.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
What, what, what. What high school you go to in Atlanta?
Woody Marks
Carver.
Shannon Sharpe
Atlanta. Oh, okay. Okay. Christian Kirk also had 144 receiving. Mean you guys have your best day on, on the biggest stage when it's needed the most. Did. I mean, could you. I mean because offense struggled a little bit early on. I mean you had three turnovers. Your defense kept. Didn't, didn't bend and he didn't get, didn't concede anything. But you guys got it together. What was it about that week of practice that let you know that you guys had what it took to go on the road and get a very tough, hard fought victory, but you made it look convincing.
Woody Marks
Yeah, we ain't replay plays. I think we went. That was our fastest on Fridays. Not replay plays. So everybody was locked in. So I, I knew it was gonna have a great game.
Joe Johnson
So.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Hey, hey. What is like playing for DeMarco Woody, considering, you know, he. Him being a former player and what's that, what's that, what's that been like?
Woody Marks
Oh, it's kind of, it's, it's good just seeing him, he be over there on the defense side playing linebacker when we on scout team.
Shannon Sharpe
So you see how physically he was.
Woody Marks
He tried to, he tried to break it. Like you don't got no pads on.
Shannon Sharpe
You better move out. Hey, what are you telling. Hey, d', Amico, bro, if I'd have been playing when you'd been playing, I'd have ran.
Woody Marks
Yeah, for sure.
Shannon Sharpe
Look, you got a very tough opponent. You got the New England Patriots and everybody knows what the Patriots represent, even though Tom Brady's not there. Mike Brable played a number of years with them. He brought, he brings that old school coaching. Kind of like you guys. Very physical in the run game. Play outstanding defense. Do not, do not turn the ball over. Do not, do not let them have big plays. And the weather prediction is indicating that it might be snow. Now, you guys play indoors. You guys play Indy, they play indoors. You play in Jacksonville. It's really nice and sunny. And Tennessee, I don't know when you went to Tennessee, sometimes Tennessee, it does get cold in Nashville. But this is what you you one step away from being in the AFC championship game. What is your thought process? What is d'? Ameco? Today was your first day of practice, if I'm not mistaken. So no, yesterday was Your first day of practice. What was the. What has been d' Amico's message?
Woody Marks
We take a play. Houston ball. We're a tough team, no matter the condition. When they place that ball down, we're gonna get the rocking, which is. That's what we live by. Offense, defense, press the team. We all don't get the rocket when they place their ball down. We play inside, but we, we football players. We done played in the rain before. We done played in the snow before. Probably not football, but we done been outside in the snow just playing around as kids. So we know the feeling of it. When we get there, we'll be used to it.
Shannon Sharpe
You played for Cliff Kingsbury at ufc. D'. Amico. What's the biggest difference between d' Amico and Cliff?
Woody Marks
I was with Link. Link most of the time, it's really not a difference. Link kind of did the same thing. Be over there on scout team.
Shannon Sharpe
Lincoln ride. I meant to say Lincoln ride. I said Lincoln.
Woody Marks
Yeah, he was. He was more of an offensive, offensive minded guy. Coach Demico, he more of a defensive guy. So you kind of see the difference in between that. But both of them want to run the ball. I'm just hearing him say, we want to run the ball. You got to run the ball. That's what people been preaching to me. You got to run the ball in the playoffs.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Oh, yeah. Especially under them conditions y' all might be under, you know, this weekend. And you're gonna have your lump, your lunch pail ready, ready to go, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Have a big boy. Pads on. Let me ask you this. Houston, man. What's it like living in Houston? Oh, what am I living.
Joe Johnson
Hey, Woody, we're gonna come down there and hang out with it.
Shannon Sharpe
But.
Woody Marks
You'Ve been in Atlanta before. It's about the same.
Shannon Sharpe
I live in Atlanta.
Joe Johnson
I said that, man. I said it's like a big.
Woody Marks
It's a bigger Atlanta. About the same thing going on. You got good food.
Joe Johnson
Everything, whatever.
Woody Marks
Everything you got in Atlanta, you got out here.
Shannon Sharpe
So I don't know. I think they got by a little bit more and used it with it.
Joe Johnson
I ain't lied.
Woody Marks
Yeah, they probably got a little bit more.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Hey, you gotta spread out there because of me. Ocho and Joe, we need to come out there, we need to talk place to place, to lay ahead. We good.
Woody Marks
I got y' all for sure.
Joe Johnson
All right.
Shannon Sharpe
That's what I'm talking about, y'. All. That's my homeboy for the crib. So, you know, homeboys link up. We go, hey, we go out, you know, grab a couple drinks. That's all. You know, we go Uber everywhere we go. We don't need to have no ride, just Uber.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, you're gonna be good.
Woody Marks
Black truck.
Shannon Sharpe
Huh?
Woody Marks
Black truck.
Joe Johnson
Black truck. He said, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, okay.
Woody Marks
Oh, you don't for that.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm all for that.
Joe Johnson
Huh?
Woody Marks
It's on you, though.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, I. I got. I gotta. I. I got. I gotta cover that. Yeah.
Joe Johnson
What a hospitality.
Woody Marks
I got y' all the crib.
Shannon Sharpe
Damn.
Woody Marks
I got you the crib.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, you know what? That's good enough. That's all I need. That's all I need.
Joe Johnson
Begas can't be choosing.
Shannon Sharpe
You know what? You know what, Woody? We appreciate that. We. We go. We gonna have. We'll have a car.
Joe Johnson
We'll do that.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, man, congratulations, man. Great work on Monday night, man. Carry it over. You guys look good. Tell Dico I said, what's up, man? Wish you the best of luck. Good luck, bro.
Joe Johnson
Yes, sir.
Shannon Sharpe
Woody Marks, the outstanding young running back for the Houston Texas had a breakout game. 19 carries, 112 yards, one touchdown. He ran extremely hard all night long. And at the end, it was that running, physical style that the Houston Texans offensive line and running backs played with that finally wore down in the Levy burst. And when he wrote that long, that touchdown run, you could see that was the Pittsburgh Steelers. You saw something you hadn't seen from a Steelers defense in a very long time. They hung their heads because they know they had thoroughly gotten their ass kicked that night, so.
Joe Johnson
And listen, that run game and that defense, that's what kept a minute.
Shannon Sharpe
Y' all ran so hard. Hey, what are we gonna get y' all on this, though? But y', all, you ran so hard, man. Mike Thomas stepped down the next day. He said, man, I don't want no more of this. That man, you saw that young man come in there and the other dude did that. The defense beat him like that. Deuces. But appreciate that with it, man. Enjoy and enjoy this time, man. Hey, you got something special going, keep it going, bro.
Woody Marks
For sure.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir. Appreciate you. Yes, sir. Joe. Jonathan Kaminga has reportedly demanded a trade ahead of the February 5th NBA trade deadline. According to Shams and Anthony Slater, Kamingo first became eligible to be traded on Thursday after signing a contract extension during the off season, and he immediately asked to be dealt.

Excuse me. The Kings and the Mavs have reportedly both shown interest in Kaminga, making them two of the most logical and likely landing spots for him. The Athletic also dropped the story that Kerr had Franz Bogner atop his wish list in the 2021 draft. But team governor Joe Lakem as a driving force behind the choice of Kaminga. Well, the clear one emerged between Wagner and Kaminga in the league. Wagner is really good. Really, really good. Now that's not, I'm not saying Kaminga, but I don't, I don't, I don't understand this. I don't understand why they wanted to keep him. They wouldn't play him. They had him coming out the bench. He did healthy dmp. Coach's decision. Coach's decision. Joe, what's going on? I mean you, you played this game a number of years. You know the inner working the the the and how the NBA is is really different than the NFL. Cause NFL got a good player that mo folk play. I don't give a damn how much money making he playing. What's going on with Kaminga and Kerr to the best of your expl.
Joe Johnson
When you have a guy who has pretty good value to me it don't make sense for him to sign him and bring him back. But then when you think about it, they brought him back for bait. They know a lot of teams would love to have his service and I just feel like they would.
Shannon Sharpe
They.
Joe Johnson
I feel like they knew they was going to get to this point anyway. They knew they was going to trade him. They knew they was going to have to trade him. He doesn't fit their system. He doesn't fit what they're trying to do. He don't fit their culture. And I feel like now they going to try to trade him which is why they signed him and brought him back and they knew they was going to get to this point. Now they just trying to get some. They trying to get something of value for him.
Shannon Sharpe
Well, they could have did a signing trade. They could have signed him and traded him at this off season.
Joe Johnson
Probably wasn't nothing out there. The market probably ain't been that great for him. If you just want me to be 100 with you, the market probably hasn't been great for him. And they've tried to play him so he can create, you know, more value for himself. And I don't think that that has happened.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
So now they just trying. They just trying to figure it out.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Cause I didn't understand. I mean, you signed him and bring him back. I was like, well, hell, he gonna be starting and. And he start. I think he started a couple of games and then he went right back to the bench, playing the same number of minutes, and then he stopped. They stopped playing him. So the problem was he raised enough. He ain't throwing enough chairs. He ain't kick enough people in the ass. He ain't do. He ain't raised. He ain't raised enough hell. To be honest with you, Joe.
Joe Johnson
He ain't raising enough hell.
Shannon Sharpe
Nope. Nope.
Joe Johnson
And look, the real thing is his game doesn't fit what the warriors system is, what they're trying to do. Because he's not like a catch and shoot guy.
Shannon Sharpe
Nope.
Joe Johnson
You know, he likes to get downhill.
Shannon Sharpe
He basically. Jimmy Butler.
Joe Johnson
There you go. He likes to get downhill. But he has great size, great athleticism, and I can see the promising, you know, in. In. In his game. So, like I said, man, it should be a few teams who looking for a service. Un. So they probably just trying to figure out the best deal at this point.
Shannon Sharpe
But here's another thing. You knew his system, his style of play didn't fit the system. But see, this is why owners always intervening.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Steve Kerr done won all these championships. Now all of a sudden, Franz Wagner in that system.
Joe Johnson
Oh, yeah, the way he can catch.
Shannon Sharpe
And shoot, he can put it on the floor, he can shoot the three. He can pass big body. He can post up.
Joe Johnson
He can pass.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, yeah, I agree. But I don't think nobody knew France was going to be this good neither, huh?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. No, and the question is. And see, it's easy to do that. Would he have been that with Steph Curry? Right. That's the thing. See, people like, well, look at what he's doing now. Would he have been that with Steph? He was getting all the shots him. And I mean, so I guess they're saying, well, the ball's gonna move, but. But he needs the ball. He's not KD. KD can be efficient with 15 shots. He can get to 25 on 12 shots. He can get you 30 on 15 shots. Yeah, they're two. They're two totally different players. And. And I think sometimes we get caught up. Well, we see what that guy Doing over there. But can he do that over here? When they play winning basketball, if you lose it, a lot of teams is. I believe it's easier to get buckets on a losing team, Joe, than it is on a winning team.
Joe Johnson
Oh, absolutely, absolutely. You go, you, you play on a winning team. That mean you playing with guys with high IQs who really know how to play the game. And they gonna make the game easier for you. You play on them losing teams, man. You know, losing, Losing teams find a way to beat themselves. This is what it is.
Shannon Sharpe
And then you play guys just trying to get numbers. There you go.
Joe Johnson
You playing with guys who's just trying to get numbers. Cause they trying to get another contract, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Correct.
Joe Johnson
And that's how the losing starts. Because you exhausting all your options. And then you wanna pass this fireball to me with three seconds on the clock, now I gotta go into my.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. And then when I. Man, then they're looking at my average, my shooter percentage. Yeah, y' all didn't see that. Then they passed me the ball at the end of the shot clock and I had to get three of them fades off. Y' all don't want to talk about that. But don't talk about. Man, I ain't shooting before. I ain't shooting 45.
Joe Johnson
Hey, hey, hey. But look, that's why you see, guys don't be shooting them half courting them long shots. They like, man, that, that. Them shots that mess up your average.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Hey, you see the NBA at the end, at the end of the. I think that was the end of the quarter. They don't count them anymore in a quarter and a half. Yeah, like, damn, I'll let them go now.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, if it go in, I get the credit. If it don't, it don't harm it.
Joe Johnson
There you go. Yeah, yeah, let me get that.
Shannon Sharpe
Come on, give. Give me that. Give me that right.
Joe Johnson
Oh, yeah, yeah. But hey, boy, you. Hey, you used to see guys, they wouldn't shoot it. I don't care. Act like they. Act like they tried to shoot it, but they would try to get a thing off.
Shannon Sharpe
It's the same thing. I've seen quarterbacks at the end of the. They didn't want to throw the Hail Mary. They throw the check down right at the end. At the end of. At the end of the. You know, right before halftime, they don't get no interception. No.
Woody Marks
Hell no.
Shannon Sharpe
They don't want no interception incompletion. I'm trying to keep my completion percentage up. And my guys wouldn't throw deep. Guys take the check down because they don't want to. They don't want to run the risk. They want a high completion percentage. Man, throw the damn ball. You think, oh, so you think if you check that ball down, that man going to go 85 yards?
Joe Johnson
He ain't gotta go. Hey, he ain't gotta go 85. But if he could get another 12 on this, on what I already got, then I take that. Yeah, exactly.
Shannon Sharpe
Do you think this situation is creating animosity between Kaminga and the Warriors?
Joe Johnson
Yeah, yeah. Because I think in his heart of hearts, I think Kaminga knew going into this season on what it would be. You know what I mean? I think it was a disdain from him and the organization this summer trying to get a new contract. And once they were able to get one, I still don't feel like he was happy. You can kind of, you know, you can look at body language and tell when guys out there playing if they really enjoying and having fun. You know what I mean?
Shannon Sharpe
Yes.
Joe Johnson
Like, when I watch the game, that's one of the major things I'm looking at is body language, how you interact with your teammates, things of that sort. Because that plays a huge dividends on wins.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. And I think the thing is, is that I think deep down in his size, that's why he waited to the very last minute to sign this contract, because he knows, he's like, you know what? I'm gonna be back in the same situation. And if I'm gonna be in the same situation, y' all gonna give me a little bit more money, because all I'm gonna do is be mad.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
And to keep me from, you know, acting a donkey, give me a couple of seven, eight more million dollars and shorten that contract from three years to two years.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. And I also think. I also think they tried to trade him this summer, too. Like I said, I just. I'm not sure his value was that high.
Shannon Sharpe
So it wasn't. The market wasn't where it needed to be.
Joe Johnson
Right. I don't think the market was where they. Where it needed to be. So they. They just. They felt signing them would be the best thing. Just bring him back. And then, you know, when you get to this bridge here, you know, we'll cross when we get to it. So now they, at the point they got to make a decision.
Shannon Sharpe
You right, they got to make a decision. And he wanted that decision like yesterday. Yeah, absolutely. That decision in the summer, he's like, I don't know where I'm going. But anywhere will be better than here.
Joe Johnson
They. This man been getting DMPs. I'm talking about when they've been having guys out when they needed him.
Shannon Sharpe
Joe, if you think about it, look at what he did. He played really well in the postseason. Yeah, he played really well. And I'm like, oh, he's showing him what he can do. Oh, he's extremely athletic. I mean, he. He'll knock down occasional three, but his. His. His thing is based on athleticism, getting to the rim. Yeah, I just.
Joe Johnson
I think him and Kurt just got a disdain somewhere. I don't know where it. Where it happened or if it's Kaminga's play, because, you know, like, he ain't really like no playmaker neither. You know, like you say, he's a downhill bandit. Obviously, defensively, he can rig havoc. He can guard probably one through five. He can rebound. I think he'll be a pretty good defensive player. But offensively, he just hadn't. He just hadn't fit the system based.
Shannon Sharpe
On what they want to do now. He might go. Go to a system. Go to another situation, Joe, where it's not as much ball movement as it is in Golden State, and it's a little bit more, you know, ISO, and he's able to get the ball in his hand and get down here. He might look like a superstar.
Woody Marks
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
How much they gonna win?
Joe Johnson
Right? Kind of like. Kind of like Porter Jr. For the Nets. For the Brooklyn Nets. He said. He said, man, I can average 25, 26 points a game, and he's over there doing it.
Shannon Sharpe
Bad team now.
Joe Johnson
They getting their butt. They getting their butt kicked every night, but he over there putting them numbers up.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Which will parlay into another big contract.
Joe Johnson
There you go. There you go. But they might. They might end up getting off port over there.
Shannon Sharpe
Who? The Nets. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joe Johnson
He got so much.
Shannon Sharpe
He.
Joe Johnson
He got so much value right now. He already done won a championship. You know, he can play with other great players. Y. I think. I think he wanted this situation kind of for himself.
Shannon Sharpe
I agree. Because he knows he was going to be the fourth option.
Joe Johnson
There you go.
Shannon Sharpe
Jokic, Murray, Gordon, him.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, he tired of playing the. He tired of playing the background.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Darren Waller went on Johnny Manziel's Glory Days podcast and told a story about how he and Mike McDaniel was talking one on one during the end of their season meeting when owner Steven Ross walked in. McDaniel had literally just told Waller that he wants him back in 2026. Ross joined in the conversation for a bit. Then the conversation got quiet and Waller got the sense that he should leave the room. He checked his phone 20 minutes later and Mike McDaniel was fired. I was at the scene of the crime. The NFL is a wild business, Joe.
Joe Johnson
That's how I go. It's cut though like that, huh?
Shannon Sharpe
I didn't look. Dan Reeves and, and when Coach Reeves and John was having their issues, John, Dan was like, Tom, Coach Landry run the football. We're not going to put the ball in harm's way. We're going to try to play great defense. And then Roger Staubach was there. Roger, Roger would win it. Yeah, Roger the Dodger. And that's why John Elway had so many, that's why John had so many comebacks. Because we wouldn't do anything for four quarters, for three and a half quarters and the game would still be close and, and John would win it in the end. It is, it. It's really tough. But I've never heard a situation like this normally, hey, the owner calls you to his office, right? The owner like the owner walked in to the coach's office when he's doing end of end of season interviews. Exit interviews. Yes. That's, that's really wow. Normally they call you into their meeting and tell you, call you into their office or the general manager, you know, they have a conversation. We're going in a different direction. But I've never heard, I've never heard of a situation like this. So they find Johnny had a conversation. We don't. I think we'll talk about Steve. No. Where he called John Harbaugh on the phone. He said, he said I thought it would be a, a, you know, an anatomy move like the man had just left and they turn around and meet me back at the, you know, at the office in an hour. It was just like, you know, hey, you gonna do what you're gonna do. Just let day and you know, it was tough. I mean telling somebody is fired is not easy.
Joe Johnson
Right?
Shannon Sharpe
I mean because he's had success. He's the winningest coach and I, I know the, the organization is only 30 years of age, but he's the winning as coach in the. And their young tenure. You got, look, you got Lamar.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
So is it a very appealing job? You got Lamar, you got a quarterback, you got a two time MVP quarterback.
Joe Johnson
Is this contract up?
Shannon Sharpe
Is he ready?
Joe Johnson
Is he gonna sign?
Shannon Sharpe
No, no, no, no. Those contracts not up. But they got to do something. He's got like a 75, 76 million dollar cap here. So they. And Steve Bushadi has made it abundantly clear he wants Lamar, if Lamar wants that. If not, he said, hey, we'll play it out and move. Move on. But he wants it because he know Steve. Look, Steve is very matter of fact. He laid on the table, he said, look, I want to do this thing for another 10 years. I'm 65. I said, I'm looking at it from 75 now. If we had a couple of bad seasons when I met that age, I'm probably going to sell the team. If we had a couple of good seasons, I'm probably gonna keep holding on. But anyway, he said, I'm looking to move on. He said, I'm not gonna get. This thing is not going to my family. He said it caused too much problems. Yeah, I've seen it turn families against each other, and that's not gonna happen. I've made that abundantly clear. So.
Joe Johnson
So who you think he gonna bring in? What's a good. What's. What's a good candidate?
Shannon Sharpe
Mentioned the name Clint Kubiak. Clint Kubiak is the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks. I played with Clint's dad. I remember Clint when he was a kid running, shagging balls and being the ball boy on the field for us when he. He couldn't have been no more than like six or seven.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Maybe eight. His dad was my quarterback, was the backup to John, and then he was my offensive coordinator. So I've been knowing them and he's really good. You see the. The imagination that he has with Seattle's offense. You saw what Jackson JSN did and Jigba. They run the football. That west coast system, you got to run it. Then they play action pass. And he has a quarterback. His quarterback in Baltimore is better than the quarterback that he has in Seattle.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
So I can just imagine with his imagination and that quarterback and that running back to be able to run the football like they can run it and play action off of that.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
What?
Joe Johnson
What, what? Dick Henry got another year over there.
Shannon Sharpe
Got two years. Two years and he finished second. He was second last year in Russian over 19. Two years ago with over 1900 yards. He was second in the league in rushing this year with like fifth over almost 1600 yards. He still got tread on the tire. He still got tread.
Joe Johnson
Oh, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
And so I'm. I'm. They gotta. But they got. Hey, they gotta get the number one thing. They got to get whoever. Whatever guard is available in free agency. The Baltimore gotta sign him. They gotta get they gotta get. They gotta get that left, that left, that right guard up out of there. He killing Lamar. He killing Lamar and the running game. But. And they need some defense, Joe. Yeah, they do.
Joe Johnson
They can stay, can't. They can't. They gonna put. They can put some points over. Boy, they can't stop nothing.
Shannon Sharpe
Can't stop nobody. They can't stop nobody.
Joe Johnson
This is definitely an enticing job, though. Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
You know. You know, with having Lamar Henry back there, I'm surprised, you know, ain't no coaches jumped on that situation already.
Shannon Sharpe
Well, I think maybe, maybe some of the coaches that they're interested in are still in the playoffs. So you can't. Anybody right now you had a window, the Broncos and the Seahawks, so you could interview coaches in that window via Zoom, obviously. But if your team was in the playoff, you can't talk until after your season's over. So now move now. There'll be another break in between the nfc, afc, between the championship games and the super bowl. So, so there's a dead weekend there in which you can interview via Zoom for a job. But yeah, I'm. I'm. You got to get the right coach in this situation because. You got too much at stake. You got too much riding on it. You got Lamar Wright smack dab in his prime window. You got Derrick Henry that has a couple more years left. You got to get this thing right.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Get this thing right because you look Drake May.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
You got Josh Allen, you got C.J. stroud, you got B. Nicks, you got Trevor Lawrence. So it's not getting any easier.
Joe Johnson
No, sir, it's not. But they got some talent. Boy, they got some talent over there.
Shannon Sharpe
They, they, they got some offensive talent. I don't know how much defensive talent they got.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, they ain't got no. They, they need some help defensively.
Shannon Sharpe
But yeah, I like. Say I like Derek, I like Henry, obviously, I like Lamar. I'm surprised that what they did with Andrews because basically they're. This is. They're saying bye to life likely.
Joe Johnson
Oh, are they?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Yeah. And yeah, you're not gonna. You, I mean, you gave, you Gave Andrews what, three years, 40 million? Is that what he. Ain't that what he signed for? Yeah, it's. You're not, you're not bringing him back cuz somebody's gonna pay him big money. Yeah, yeah, I thought, I thought they would let Andrews go and then keep. Keep likely. But three years, 40. Three years, 40. Yeah. So I was, I was, I was surprised by that move. But they need Defense, they need pass rushes. They need pass rushers. They need them bad too. Really bad.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, they. They gave what they were, what they was in defensive, defensive rating, they was near the bottom this year.
Shannon Sharpe
The two cornerbacks gave up the most yardage.
Joe Johnson
Them boys were getting smoked out there.
Shannon Sharpe
Boy. But when you can't rush the pass, I mean, what, what, what are you, what are your options? You can't hold up all day. And they couldn't rush the quarterback. They couldn't get the quarterback off his mark. So the quarterback just back there, pat the ball, patting the ball, patting the ball. So it's tough.

The Bears Ram playoff game is expected to be one of the coldest games in NFL history. Joe, look at this video of blizzard conditions happening right now coming off Lake Michigan. 60 mile an hour winds, heavy snows are leading to nearly no visibility.
Joe Johnson
Man, can't nobody play no football in.
Shannon Sharpe
There if it's like that. They're gonna be out there.
Joe Johnson
They gonna be playing in this.
Shannon Sharpe
Hell yeah.
Joe Johnson
Man. Come on.
Shannon Sharpe
The windshield expected range between 0 and 10 minus 10 degrees throughout day on Sunday. Wind gusts up to 20 miles an hour. The Rams haven't played in the game below 50 all season. According to NFL stats. Matthew Stafford and bad weather games with the Rams. Cold rain or snow. 1 in 8, 54.6 completion percentage, 14 touchdowns, 11 interception. Excuse me. Look at, look at this. We go turn the sound. Listen to the sound, Joe.
Joe Johnson
All right.
Shannon Sharpe
I pull. I pull right here.
Joe Johnson
Hey, ain't no way they finna play in that. And hold on, hold on. You think the stand's gonna be filled up too?
Shannon Sharpe
Absolutely packed.
Joe Johnson
Oh, no.
Shannon Sharpe
Because fans get a kick out of said. I was at that game when you played the Ice bowl when it was 2730. You go back and look at Cincinnati, San Diego. I think that was 1981. Windshield was like 59. Go back, look at the, the Chargers against Cincinnati. I think the windshield like 40, 50 degrees below zero. What was the windshield.
Joe Johnson
Hey, if they plan in anything close to this, what I'm Looking at. I got the bear. I'm taking the Bears this weekend.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, I remember, Joe. 1981, the Chargers played Cincinnati. Windshield. Minus 59.
Joe Johnson
The man said 1981.
Shannon Sharpe
I remember the game. That's what. That's what I told the Chargers.
Joe Johnson
That's.
Shannon Sharpe
That's the Chargers. The Chargers had just beat the Dolphins. Kellen Winslow had a historic game. Unbelievable. End up blocking a field goal. They won. They had to carry him off the field. And for his. His. His. His. His Herculean effort, go to Cincinnati. 59 below. They got thumped. I think they lost 27. Nothing.
Joe Johnson
59.
Shannon Sharpe
What was the final score below 27. 7. Okay. Oh, you. Oh, so that's why you don't remember. You was just being born.
Joe Johnson
I was born in 81. I don't know what's going on. Oh, you played in weather like that before.
Shannon Sharpe
I remember. I remember that game.
Joe Johnson
I'm saying. I'm saying you done played in something like that.
Shannon Sharpe
I think the cold. One of the coldest game I played, we played in green bay in 96. It was about 13 degrees. Minus third. Minus 13. And we played the Chiefs and the divisional round in 90. It was in 98, so it's probably January 98. What was the temperature in 96? It was December of 96.
Joe Johnson
Hey, hey, what is like getting hit in that type of temperature in that weather? What that ground feel like, man?
Shannon Sharpe
That thing. Like on cement. Joe. I ain't gonna lie, Joe. I'm glad Mike didn't see me. I had construction gloves on. I wasn't. Oh, but, But I caught a pass. I caught the world pass they threw me.
Joe Johnson
Hey, well, I couldn't even imagine, huh.
Shannon Sharpe
Minus 17 in Green Bay, right? What was the. What was the. The. The Kansas City one?
Joe Johnson
Hey, how the Bears ain't got no.
Shannon Sharpe
Dome over there, man, you take away the advantage, man.
Joe Johnson
Man, come on, man, we'll get to hell.
Shannon Sharpe
Minnesota used to play outside before they.
Joe Johnson
Got the dome, and boy, it's cold in Minnesota.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, the Chiefs was January of 9th. It was January of 98. January. No, it was January of 99. January 99.
Joe Johnson
Man, under these conditions here, man, I don't know how you can get out there and play, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Not.
Joe Johnson
Not in that. Not in that type of weather we just seen.
Shannon Sharpe
And you know, hey, Joe, you know you got to go out there. We had no sleep. Hey, I had to show them. I had to show the gun. I had that vase on the outside in the face. You don't say.
Joe Johnson
Hey, listen, so why. Why dudes be coming out There with their shirts off and all that warming up before the game. When it's like that, I don't know.
Shannon Sharpe
What them fools thinking. I ain't going out there until I have absolutely have to. I'm not going out there. I ain't. Hey, I'm. I'm competing against my opponent and his Weber. So I am not going out there until I absolutely have to. The heart, it's easier to play in it than practicing it. It's when it's practice, when you don't have those heat, those heated benches and you don't have the adrenaline going.
Joe Johnson
Right. Right. Oh, my gosh, I can't even imagine.
Shannon Sharpe
Boy, listen, boy, you say hi. Look at this.
Joe Johnson
What's up, big fella?
Shannon Sharpe
Tell him your name. So my name Teddy Bear. He.
Joe Johnson
Hey, look, he happy dad at home.
Shannon Sharpe
Boy, is he, man, as soon as I came through the door, man. Man, Titus done done ripped my Montclair jacket.
Joe Johnson
Oh, man.
Shannon Sharpe
I said, boy, but yeah, them jokers here, they. Hey, once I come home, they ain't got nothing to do with auntie no more. He said, I got my. He got my pajamas on. He said, dad, this play is my bedtime. But. Oh, yeah, Joe, that's. That's the whole thing. That's the thing. Why you. If you're a cold weather team, you want to get home field. I want the Rams. You playing that dome.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
You played in Carolina. It was a little cold. But you don't know cold yet, right?
Joe Johnson
Not that Chicago cold.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm talking about. I'm talking about. I want it to be cold. The sun come up with an overcoat on. That's not cold. That's what I'm saying. That's not cold.
Joe Johnson
If they gonna be playing in that, that's damn sure what it's gonna be.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, you see statues got overcoats and Scully's on.
Joe Johnson
Nah, man. Nah, man. That's gonna be a tough one now, especially for the Rams.
Shannon Sharpe
Today's Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was asked whether he's open to trading AJ Brown, to which Roseman responded, it's hard to find great players in the NFL, and AJ Is a great player. That's what we're going out looking for when we go out in free agency and the draft is trying to find great players who love football, and he's that. So that would be my answer. The question is they look, they understand it's hard to replace, because I know it is. Yeah, he's a proven commodity. Yeah, he's a. He's a pro Bowl, All Pro, super bowl winning player.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
When he wants to be that.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
And this year, for whatever reason, look, it's, it's just hard. I don't, I don't know. I honestly, I don't know what motivates. I don't know what happened because he's like, when he won the super bowl, he's like, it wasn't fulfilling.
Joe Johnson
Right.
Shannon Sharpe
Well, if you got, if you making money, you want, you, you've been an All Pro, you've gone to Pro bowl, you win the super bowl, what is what, what is what left? What is left? If I got a 30 plus million dollar contract, I'm a Pro bowl player, I'm an All Pro player and I'm a Super bowl and the super bowl isn't fulfilling, but I don't, I don't really know what else there is.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
If you play a sport, Joe, you, Joe, you, you an all NBA. Yeah. All Star. You win a champ and, and you like, and you making $40 million a year and you win the championship and they come to you and say, Joe, how you feel? Like I'm not, it's not as fulfilling as I thought.
Joe Johnson
Nah, nah, I ain't gonna say that. But I think I ain't gonna say that. I ain't gonna say that. But I know for some guys, man, when they feel like they ain't balling or doing their thing out there, man, they want their stats over championship. Now they may not come out and say it, but that's what they want. It's like, man, we won a championship, but damn, I ain't have a 20 yards and two catches.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, go look at my super bowl numbers. They ain't nothing but I got three rings that I'm gonna pass down to each of my kids. Hey, hey, that wasn't the game plan. Didn't call for Shannon Sharpe to go haywire. Right. I'm okay with that because at the end of the day, I was making good money. I've been a Pro bowl player. I was an All Pro. After you become an All Pro, after you become a Pro bowl player, the only thing left is win a championship is to solidify, right? Make sure people know that all those catches and yards and everything that you was doing what? Well, yeah, you did that, but how many games did you win? Did your stats go to winning? Look at my, look at my numbers. When I called for 100 yards or caught a touchdown, we won.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
That's all I cared about. I want to win something. Other stuff. That's why I didn't get up. You look and I look back at. I said, man, I could have easily gone to John and say, hey, bro, hey, I need five yard. But I ain't never asked him to throw me the ball.
Joe Johnson
Right?
Shannon Sharpe
So you. They know what I can do. I used to get upset, Joe, you know, they done bull around. Bull J around all game long. Now, here come the fourth quarter, we down 14. You going to ask me what I like? Yeah. Now they looking for. I like for this game to be over so I get my ass on that bus and get home. You should. You should ask me this in the first quarter. But y' all want to spread it around.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Let everybody. Hey, let every. You will let everybody touch it. Okay.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Keep doing what you doing.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. Hey, look, but like I said, you know, some cats want to ball. Go. Hey, look, I remember it, too, you know, coming down. It's the last five to seven minutes of a game. Now all of a sudden, everybody looking for you. They looking for Joe to get us up out this rut.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
What. What we been doing the whole game. Y' all could have been giving me the ball.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
So I understand, man. I understand.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, we gonna write this over here. We're running this pit. Hey, we're gonna run one full. Joe, you at it. You at the top.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. Look, we ain't ran all damn game.
Shannon Sharpe
Why y'. All. Yeah, yeah, I know.
Joe Johnson
I know exactly what you said. Yeah, we should have been reading this in the first.
Shannon Sharpe
Second quarter, man. What you looking for? I think your brother on the floor. Sweet when he down there. Thanos. Yeah. No, this is not. This is not Thanos. In my lap. This teddy bear in my lap. The Athletic released a story today on Mike Tomlin's final team meeting with the Steelers players and the surreal scene surrounding it. Mike Tomlin told his team, I think it's best for. I think it's best for the organization for me to step down. TJ Watt had tears welling in his eyes and kept repeating, no, no, no. As Tomlin told the team. Joy Porter Jr. Was reportedly hyperventilating. Aaron Rodgers was sobbing and repeatedly saying, I'm sorry. The Steelers player gave Tomlin a standing ovation.
Joe Johnson
That's what's up, man. That's when you know your guys respect you, bro.
Shannon Sharpe
Yep.
Joe Johnson
They respect the heck out that man, Man. And what he's done for that organization.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. And as a player, it definitely hurts you because, you know, you feel like you was a part of him getting out of there. Yeah, that's why those guys so hurt? They feel like, man, if we would have played at our highest peak, we could have, we could have avoided this situation. So, yeah, I can see why guys really taking it hard.
Shannon Sharpe
I've done that. Yeah, I remember. And as I got older, I remember seeing Coach Reeves because the gym I used to go to, the church that he attend would was right across the street. And I remember, I remember, like I would say, you probably it didn't close it down, but anyway. And I saw him and I just, I remember going up to him and say, coach, I'm sorry.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
He said, Shannon. He's known when he never called me by my last name or call me, call me 84. You always call me Shannon. Say, Shannon, what do you. I said, coach, I said, had I been the player that I became, maybe I could have saved your job. Right? And he just told me, he said, son, he said, that's nice of you to say, but you ain't got nothing to apologize for. He said, I'm proud that we drafted you. I'm proud of the player that you became. Same thing with Wade Phillips. I was, I was that player. I had became that player. But I did, I did all I could. I had, you know, 2,000 yard receiving, had like 180 catches. Yeah, it just wasn't meant to be like 178 catch, 168 catches. It just wasn't meant to be, Joe. And then we get Mike. But I hate because that happened on my watch.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
What could I have done differently? And I know for certain, I'm not sure besides getting injured and having to take them and I wasn't 100. Had, I do believe, had I became the player that I later became that ended up going into the Pro Football hall of Fame, I do believe I could have saved Dan's career. Yeah, I, I, I, I, I, I believe I could have saved him in Denver. Now, maybe at a later date in time, Mr. B1. Maybe Mr. B just wanted to go in a completely different direction, right? Maybe. Maybe so. Because Coach Reeves had been to three Super Bowls, lost the AFC Championship game, so it wasn't like he was losing, but he just wanted to go in a different direction. But it's tough if you care now, if you don't care. Some people, like, hey, players, players get cut all the time. I don't look at it like that.
Joe Johnson
Hey, look, my first year in Brooklyn, when I got traded to Brooklyn from Atlanta, I played Avery Johnson was our head coach. Great dude. Great dude.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Accountability. Like he gonna Be on you like, he gonna ride you hard, you know, tell you what, the do's and don'ts. But, man, he was a hell of a coach, bro. I loved him as a coach. And to. For us to get off to such a slow start my first year in Brooklyn, I think it was kind of why he got fired, because it happened on the off day for us. I'm at home, I'm watching espn. Ain't nobody called and been like, oh, we gonna get rid of Avery Johnson Today. I'm watching on ESPN like everybody else, it come across breaking news. I'm like, damn. So, yeah, I understand as a player, bro.
Shannon Sharpe
You take.
Joe Johnson
You take heart to that because I'm like, yeah, such a dope coach, bro.
Shannon Sharpe
Devonte Adams says he told his teammates, including Puka Nakua, that they would. They should never leave LA because it ain't greener than this, Referencing his experience leaving the packers and being with the Raiders and the Jets. Yep. That's absolutely true.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. And, you know, getting a chance to play with another great quarterback and Matthew Stafford, who throwing that peel around the way he do.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah. I think the thing. Look, I think the thing with Tay is that he wanted to get something done. He wanted to get something done before it got to the before. And then when the season came and they didn't do anything, and then he goes out and has a monster season. Now all of a sudden he's like, nah, y' all done Risk made me put this on the line. Y' all knew what I could do. Yeah. And y' all make me go through this. And I think. I think a part of a. Part of his pride was hurt because they didn't do it. Now he goes to the Raiders. His. His college teammates there.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
So it's not like he doesn't know what he's getting into.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
But after one year, they let his quality, they let his teammate go. Yeah. He's stuck. And then he goes to the jets and that dysfunctional organization. And even though he got Aaron Rodgers.
Joe Johnson
One of the best.
Shannon Sharpe
Nope. Nope.
Joe Johnson
And he got over there to the Rams. I'm talking about. Done.
Shannon Sharpe
Another offensive mind. You got a quarterback, you in a controlled environment, because think about who you play. You got the Cardinals, they play inside.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
So that's nine of your games right there that you're going to be in 72 degrees now. You must run and get somebody in the AFC and get a couple of more games. That's. Hey, that's 10. Well, some years now you have nine games because some years you have, you know, nine home games. Eight. Eight road games.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
I mean, yeah, so he's right. He's right. But everybody's always thinking that, you know, the grass is greener and if you got a historic quarterback, you better stay your ass with it. Now, you might go get some money now, but them numbers, they ain't gonna be the same. Numbers start slipping, everybody gonna say, see, you are product of that system.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, yeah, you, you got, you. You got somebody throwing you that pill, boy. Don't take it for granted.
Shannon Sharpe
Absolutely not. Josh Allen was playing long snapper at the team's practice today before their playoff game. Check this video out, Joe.
Joe Johnson
Long snapper. Come on, what do you got going on?
Shannon Sharpe
I guess he's the emergency long snapper. No, I ain't want to do nothing. They like, hey, we got this reverse. Let foots run it.
Joe Johnson
You ain't want no problem.
Shannon Sharpe
I don't want no. Throw me the ball. Don't hand it to me. I'm done with that. I got, I got my running back days when I was in high school. Once I was a junior, my. Going into my senior year, I left the running back position. I got tired of people talking about my bad. Sharp, man. Who, man, man, Sharp. That's me. That's me.
Joe Johnson
Nah, bro, you ain't talking about like missing. Missing?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, they missed the block, man. My bad, Sharp, my bad. Dude, that got my helmet twisted. Joe, you talking about my bad. I'm good. Nah, don't hand me no ball. Throw it to me down the field. Oh, and see, the thing is, you can't hit the. You you used to could punish the long snapper. You can't hit him now.
Joe Johnson
So, yeah, they, they, they, they got a little soft. They got a little soft. He like, come on, man. What we got going?
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, man, Joe. Another sad story. Delonte west was arrested for allegedly robbing someone of $23 per TMZ. What we're being told is that he's taken into custody without further incident and posted a thousand dollar bond. When they say the total. The total amount taken from the victim was around $23.
Joe Johnson
Damn.
Shannon Sharpe
Joe. Do you know. Have you ever have. Do you know him? Have you ever been, had any, any contact with him?
Joe Johnson
Nah, I just played against him, but obviously I'm paying attention and I see what's going on. You know, it's, it's. It hurts to see him in, in those situations, man. You know what I mean? Yeah, because I know, I know people have reached out and tried to help him. Yes, obviously, he probably. Probably just even he don't want it, you know, due to whatever issues he's dealing with.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Joe Johnson
You know, sometimes, man, you can. You can do whatever you can to try and help somebody, but you gotta want it. I had.
Shannon Sharpe
I had Mark Cuban on my podcast, and he said he'd say, shannon, we did everything we could, and we thought we had him there. We thought. We thought. And he just left. And he's like, you know, and I reached out personally and did things. He's like, I don't really know. I don't really know what else to do.
Joe Johnson
Right.
Shannon Sharpe
Unless that individual really wants to help, and they say you let him hit rock bottom. I mean, I don't think you can go any lower than what. He's already gone.
Joe Johnson
Nah.
Shannon Sharpe
But, you know, you just had. And it's. I understand. Addiction is one day. I mean, because an addiction. Okay. You, You, You. Sobriety. You know, I hear people say I've been sober. Chris Carter tells the story all the time. He knows the exact days, how many days he's been, you know, sober. Yeah. But every day. Every day, yo, you gotta go buy a bar or package store when you go into the store, and you gotta say no.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
And that's hard. Gambling addiction. You gotta go. If you go to the casino and you gotta. You gotta say the part. You just gotta say no if you got a shot, whatever the case may be. You just gotta. Every single day for the rest of your life.
Joe Johnson
And that's hard, bro.
Shannon Sharpe
It is.
Joe Johnson
When you're recovering, whatever you're recovering from, like, it's hard. Like, you know, my pops passed away in July. He was, you know, recovering drug and alcoholic. So I know. I know what it looked like. You know what I mean? And you can't. I don't care what you do for that person, bro. Like, it's. They have to want it. They have to want to get better.
Shannon Sharpe
For more than you want it.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
They got to want it more for themselves than you want it for them. Yeah. Is what I told my kids. I said, I can't want something for you more than you want it for yourself.
Joe Johnson
Absolutely.
Shannon Sharpe
And that's. And that's, you know, hey, my dad. My dad had an alcohol. Had an alcohol problem, and it ended up costing him. You know, he had both of his cheekbones removed, and he just. He was. He was embarrassed about coming around. And then, you know, he's like, I don't want my kids to see you. See me like this. Yeah. And at that point in time, I just wanted to see him, because I'd only seen him once in my life to know who I was actually looking at. Like, this man is my father. Yeah. He came and got. You know, my grandmother came and got me from Chicago and brought me and my brother back on the train. I was three months old. My dad showed back up and took me back to Chicago when I was seven months old. And then we got. Sent me, my brother, my sister with. We came back down. I was 2, my sister was 10, my brother was 5. And so we had been at that point in time, we had. So since 1970, I had lived with my grandmother and my grandfather.
Joe Johnson
And.
Shannon Sharpe
I remember I was coming. We came home from church, and he was. He was in the drive. He was in the driveway. And I remember Granny asking me, do I know who it is? And I'm like, the man looked like me, so he got to be my dad. But I had. I had never seen him. I had never seen him before. Just a couple of pictures of it. And I remember. I remember getting out the car and I got over there and hug. And he asked. He asked papa, he said, Mr. Barney, can I take the boys overnight? Yeah, you know, they got to. You know, they got school tomorrow. He like, yes, sir, I know. I'll. I'll make sure they get to school. Yeah. So we went home. We. He got. We got him and he got us. Got some clothes change clothes that we was gonna sleep. Bed clothes to sleep in and school clothes, and slept in the bed with him. And he got us up and told us. He. I'll never forget. He took me to school, dropped me off first, told me he loved me, that he'll see me, he'd see me again soon. This was. Had to be 70. 73, 74. I think I was in kindergarten. I was in kindergarten, the first grade. 70. So it was 73, 74. And say, I love you and I'll see y'.
Joe Johnson
All.
Shannon Sharpe
I'll see y'. All. I'll see y' all again soon. Next time I saw him, 1981, he's laying in the casket. And so. But that was. You know, he had alcohol problems and just couldn't shake it. Yeah. And, you know, I mean, I think he was more embarrassed that, you know. Yeah. That he wasn't able to be what he thought he should be because, you know, my grand. Granny and papa been mad. Had been married at that point in time. They got married in, what, 23. Papa died in 77. Grandma Charlie and Granddaddy Williams had been married already been married, like, you know, all those years. So he saw his mom and dad married. Yeah, my grandma, you know, mama. Mom and dad married. And. But you can't measure your success by somebody else's success. And that was his first mistake. But he didn't know. He didn't know. And I don't. I don't hold that against my father. I do wish, like, when I saw fathers would come to the game and see their sons. Yeah, I wish. I wish, you know, my dad could see me. My mom came. I made sure my son got an opportunity to see what I. What I did. But, yeah, I wish that. Yeah, but that wasn't in the cars. That wasn't in the cards for us, so. But I understand. I understand the situation, Joe. I understand when somebody has an addiction.
Joe Johnson
Oh, yeah. Nothing you can do, bro. And, you know, you think you can fix it, you think you can help, but you can't, man. I. I mean, my pops, he spent. He spent a lot of time in the penitentiary, and he got out and I moved him here to Atlanta with me. I was 26 years old at the time, so I was six years into the NBA.
Shannon Sharpe
That's.
Joe Johnson
That probably was the worst move, I'm gonna be honest with you, Bringing him. Bringing him here to Atlanta.
Shannon Sharpe
But you. But, Joe, you thought. You being a son, you in a position to help. You thought you were helping.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
You did what most sons would do in a situation that can help. Help. Yeah.
Joe Johnson
Boy.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, he had.
Joe Johnson
He had these people by his fingertip. He. He go to the game, he said, courtside, kick his shoes off. He's sitting over, shoes on. I talked to him after the game. I said, hey, man, you can't be sitting over there, bro, with no shoes on. He said, man, these shoes ain't made to be worn all day, man. You gotta take these things out. My feet hurt. Yeah. Country as he want to be, countries he want to be.
Shannon Sharpe
My son to start a team. I ain't wearing no shoes. I'm home.
Joe Johnson
That man sitting over there with no shoes on, man.
Shannon Sharpe
It's time for our final segment, but evening. It's time for Q and A, man, Pat Dubs. I watched the Elway Doc and thought I was tripping when I saw Rich Carlos kick a field goal barefooted in the cold in Cleveland. What's the story with him kicking barefooted? Rich was gone when I got there. There used to be a lot of. Tony Franklin was another barefooted kicker. He kicked. He's from the University of Texas and he kicked for the Philadelphia Eagles barefooted. I know Ash gonna check that and see if I'm rich. Carlos. But they used to be barefooted kickers. I don't think they've ever been a barefooted punter, but, yeah, they were barefooted kickers.
Joe Johnson
Why is that?
Shannon Sharpe
They just felt better kicking the ball with a barefoot as fold with a shoe on.
Joe Johnson
Oh, no.
Shannon Sharpe
Michael Lansford for the Rams. I'm sorry, man. Why, Joe, Joe, why ain't somebody. You do. That's one of the perks of being old. I remember all these guys. I mean, like I said, some guys just feel more comfortable kicking barefooted. Not me. I don't. I don't remember no barefooted punters. But there are barefooted 3. Dr. Frankie L. Bellamy. Tell me who won in bowling, and I don't want to hear. See, what happened was we keep it on low. So proud.
Joe Johnson
We keep it on the low, we'll.
Shannon Sharpe
Keep it on the hood.
Joe Johnson
Y' all see when it come out.
Shannon Sharpe
But I'm telling you, we had us a ball. There was a time to be had.
Joe Johnson
Yeah, it was nice.
Shannon Sharpe
It was nice. It was nice. All I know is I ain't finish it last. Mikey Jones. How come the NFL doesn't have tight ends as versatile as Hernandez was on the Patriots? Tight end that could play X, Y, Z. Running back John Smith. They lined him up. He scored a touchdown. Hand the ball off to him. They are. Yeah. The. The. The court. He's a quarterback. He wide receiver. Tight end. What's the number seven? Taste some hill. They are. LPR98UNK is my birthday. It'll be a pleasure spending it with you two. When is your birthday? Today. All right, man. Appreciate that. Appreciate you tuning in to watch Joe and I handle the handle to hold this thing down while Ocho on the plane.
Joe Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Happy birthday, bro. Slobbing on them people. Pillar.
Joe Johnson
Oh, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Almighty.
Joe Johnson
James.
Shannon Sharpe
I remember when Nightcap first started and Unc was calling OO to Now he calling Joe. Oh, Kevin Boat Knight. Shannon. You're the greatest tight end ever. Help us out. Kittle is out. Third downs, go to go. Come on, man. Please, man. If y' all know how I feel from bowling. My knees killing me. My glute. I was about. I was about to pull my glute. Joe, was it? Yeah, man. That's why I could. I said, man, look here, if you notice. You see how I started throwing the ball? Yeah. You.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. How you start hooping it down there?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. But hey, Joe, I was like, man, the last thing I need is to pull my glue. Cause I know ain't no way in hell. Ash, go edit that out. I'm gonna be on the floor. I said. Oh, no.
Joe Johnson
Hey, look, it's all them antics you was doing. Yeah, yeah. All them actors he had going on.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, you ain't seen that yet? You wait, you got three. No, I ain't got no downs. I ain't got nothing, bro. I can't help you. Deshaun Turner. When did the big three coming to Charlotte? Look, we're gonna put together probably five. Probably about five cities that we're gonna hit this summer, Ocho, Joe, and I. So Charlotte might be on that list, bro. Air Jordan Scott. I'm gonna check out the rip. I'm gonna let y' all know if it's good or not. That live stream was hilarious. Wonder if Ocho would actually be a liability in that scenario. Absolutely.
Joe Johnson
Yeah. No question.
Shannon Sharpe
1,000% no question.
Joe Johnson
Listen, you already know it. Hey, look, I'm glad we kind of. Just in case we get into a sticky situation like that. I know who not to. I know who not to call.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, what?
Joe Johnson
Yeah. Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Look, if you tell Ocho, you might as well just call the evening news. Hey, let me tell y' all what I did. Cause you getting popped. That man got $20 million. He want to take it all. Turning it. Oh, oh, okay. We turn some in. We can get. We. Hey, we gonna be good some. We could be. Hey, get a picture. We cop year.
Joe Johnson
They probably give us a little piece of that.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, even if they don't, we don't want no piece. Like. Nah. Donate. Donate my. To charity. Already got. I got something. Don't worry about that. Nah, hell no.
Joe Johnson
Hey, but it's a hell of a movie, though, man.
Shannon Sharpe
It is. It is. Hey, you not gonna see. You're not gonna see the ending. You don't see that coming. Oh, Drew water. Best pot ever. Rogan, the side piece. Now ISO, Ocho and Unc got me hooked. Dallas to Pine Bluff, bj, Bridget, Jiu Jitsu, and football. Life pig. Appreciate that, man. Thanks for the support, bro.
Joe Johnson
Thank you.
Shannon Sharpe

Joe Johnson
Yeah, I think.
Shannon Sharpe
I think he's from the Dutch. Yeah, he. He's Dutch. I just like, hey. I just like when they took their hand and then when they come out that turn.
Joe Johnson
Hey, you. Have you ever skied or snowboard any of that?
Shannon Sharpe
Hell no.
Joe Johnson
Hold on. You know, I lived in Utah for two years. Me and my son, me and my kids, we used to go snowboarding.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, did you?
Joe Johnson
Man, come on now, man, I tried.
Shannon Sharpe
To roller skate, Joe.
Joe Johnson
You what? You can't.
Shannon Sharpe
You can. You. You.
Joe Johnson
You can't. You can't skate.
Shannon Sharpe
I wasn't able to go enough that one to two times a year. We're gonna cut it. Man, I hit. Man, I hit my ass and my elbow so hard. No, I don't got too old to fall now.
Joe Johnson
Hey.
Shannon Sharpe
Should have caught me when I was 20. Hey, hey.
Joe Johnson
Cause out here, out here in Atlanta.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey. Falling now with these hips. I am not going back under surgery to pray.
Joe Johnson
No hips, I'm telling you.
Shannon Sharpe
Mike. Mike. What's up, ugly? So since we keep calling you Ocho, is Rich trying to take over the Lakers? Man, that ain't gonna happen. It.
