San Diego coming to MLS is going to be a game changer because this region has been hungry for a men's professional soccer team.
Chad Johnson
We need to embrace this community. Listen to San Diego FC behind the Flow on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Ocho, you think training camp stories would be the biggest NFL topic of the day, but that's not true. Cam Newton responded to Ryan Clark. Listen to what Cam had to say. Hey, we want to attack the messenger Ryan Clark. Okay, let's pull up your stats. Second team all SEC. We cannot relate. Undrafted in 2002. We cannot relate. Then you have one Pro bowl in 2011. We cannot relate. So if you want to unlock petty Cam and everything that Cam Newton has ever said on this fourth and one show has always been backed by merit and logic. But some way shape form people keep attacking Cam the person or why he didn't jump on the fumble, why he didn't do this or comparing and contrasting. So when I compare and contrast you guys statistics and Dan Orlofsky. Nevermind. But as we keep going and we keep unlocking and keep poking the bear and y' all want to play this game.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, hey, Ryan Clark and. And my brother Cam Newton. You know I love y'.
Chad Johnson
All.
Shannon Sharpe
I love y' all to death. Let's keep a football. Let's keep a football. Let's. Let's stay away from the personal shots. Let's stay. Let's stay away from the personal shots. Like I look up to y', all, especially in the spaces in which y' all dominate. Talking the game of football. Ryan Clark, you the Einstein of this. You're the Einstein of this. Cam Newton. When it comes to playing the quarterback position, you are well equipped to be able to critique quarterbacks in this NFL that are playing today regardless of whether you want a Super bowl or not. You played at a very high level. You're very successful at the position. Fellas, let's. Let's keep it clean. This ain't no boxing match. There's no need to get personal. There's no need to talk about each other in any kind of way, shape, form, or fashion. Everyone loves the drama. They love that part. Let's keep it all about football. It's okay to have a difference in opinion. That's fine.
Chad Johnson
Yes. That's Cam's opinion, though I don't agree with it. Yeah, that's his opinion.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
I'm never going to talk about what someone did or didn't do. Look, we all had our time. Whatever Shannon didn't do, whatever Ryan didn't do, whatever Cam didn't do, whatever Ocho didn't do, ain't nothing we can do about it now because ain't nobody going back out there to get one more tackle, getting one more form of recovery, catching a touchdown, getting another yard. There's nothing else we can do. I agree with you, Ocho. And sometimes we. We do get carried away. What we do is that we don't like the message, so we try to destroy the messenger.
Shannon Sharpe
Messenger. Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Okay. Excuse me. Ryan didn't agree with what Cam said. That's Cam's opinion. Cam looks at it like. Look, I'm looking at it. And he has Saquon. He has two top five receivers. He has a very good tight end, plays the best offensive line in football and plays. But it's backed up by an outstanding defense. My only retort is there have been a lot of quarterbacks that had that.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir.
Chad Johnson
And we never used that against them. But that's Cam's opinion. Yes, Cam, he had more. He had and has more to work with than you. But we can't diminish him because he has. That. You don't believe because you said he has all these auxiliary. These. You know, he has the latest and greatest. He has. He has Apple. You know, he has all this stuff. When we. You know, I'm saying, Ocho, we had the big. We had the big brick phone. We had the Motorola.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir.
Chad Johnson
We had the little bag that we had to carry around, and it was $3aminute.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir.
Chad Johnson
And then you had the Roman charge. So if you left the area, that thing was Roman.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir.
Chad Johnson
I hate when it gets like this because I believe Ryan could make his point. I believe Cam could make his point. I don't.
Shannon Sharpe
But listen, I will say this. I will say this. What Ryan and Cam doing that is entertainment. That is pure entertainment. It's great. It's awesome. Especially for the platforms. Yeah.
Chad Johnson
If you're trying to grow your platform.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, but they know they don't need to grow. They. They growing. They're grow regardless based on the individuals. What the pivot is doing awesome. What 4th and 1 is doing is awesome. So what I saw from them from. From Ryan the other day.
Chad Johnson
And let me ask you a question. If you under your logic, what do you. What do you think the most viewed topic is? What do you think Cam's most viewed topic is? What he had talked about or the Ryan Clark?
Shannon Sharpe
It's probably going to be this one. Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Okay, so what do you. The pivot. What you think they're both viewed things.
Shannon Sharpe
Going to be whenever Ryan fires back.
Chad Johnson
Thank you.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay. I mean I'm. I'm with you.
Chad Johnson
And what being you. What I try to get you to do is us to do is that we stay away from that.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, we. No, I, I tell you to stay away from that.
Chad Johnson
I'm. I'm.
Shannon Sharpe
Listen, I'm.
Chad Johnson
What you mean did I be stay away from it? I stay away from it.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm on the fence. I'm. I'm always on the fence.
Chad Johnson
You ain't on the fence.
Shannon Sharpe
So listen, listen. At times, at times there comes where you have to. We have to say your piece. You got to stand up with us. Now you gonna say we ain't just gonna have anybody saying any old thing now. We can't do that. But yeah, I would. I would never. I. I would never. And I want them as. As fun as it may be being able to pee at each other for wrongdoings. And there's certain things that happen that you can't change in the past. You just can't. I don't want them taking the personal shots at each other. I don't like that. Let's keep it football. Keep the topics football. And. And both of. Both of them are well versed enough in the sport itself. We didn't have to go the right. The other route. They probably me anyway. But they're gonna do what they want to do. But still that's just my.
Chad Johnson
But that's. That's how it is. Your most embarrassing moment is probably what you're going to be most remembered for. They don't talk about Cam winning the mvp. They don't talk about Cam winning the Heisman. They don't talk about Cam. Think about it. Look at his team that won the Heisman Trophy. You tell me a team that have fewer NFL guys surrounding him than what Cam Newton team did when he won the national championship. I defy it. In the last 25 years, show me a team that won a national championship that had fewer NFL players than what Cam's Auburn team. I don't think he had a lineman to play. I think he might have had a receiver that played, had a cup of coffee. He had, I think, a defensive player to play. He didn't have. And like I said, go. Just go back and look and see what Cam did. And look. I know and Joe had outstanding numbers. And there have been other kind. You look at two or one a national championship, There have been some guys that's one national championship. What's the guy? Matt Jones and, And. And. And last year. But you look at that Auburn team and you tell me they should have won the national championship with that few NFL talent. So Cam has been great.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, absolutely.
Chad Johnson
He's been great.
Shannon Sharpe
You can't. You can't take that away from him. I mean, no.
Chad Johnson
When he's looking at it, Ocho, it's kind of like you look at a receiver and you said. And you say, well, I like this receiver, X, Y and Z, people gonna find fault. Well, why don't you pick this guy? Well, if you take it serious and stop worried about celebrations, ain't no telling what you could have done. You see, they're gonna nitpick because they don't like that you getting on somebody that they like. So what they try to do is try to destroy the messenger.
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Chad Johnson
It's not the message, it's the messenger.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
So if I like the message out. If I like the messenger, I'll receive the message.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
If I don't like the message messenger, I won't receive the message.
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Chad Johnson
And if I. And guess what? In the message, you know what? Now I'm gonna turn against you. I don't. I don't like who gave it to me.
Shannon Sharpe
Right. Yeah. I mean, listen, that's. That's unfortunate. That's unfortunate. Hey.
Chad Johnson
Hey, what up, Teddy bear?
Shannon Sharpe
Okay, Teddy bear. They all look the same now. Lay down, Teddy bear. Get on camera, twin.
Chad Johnson
He. He. Lay it down. Hopefully he'll. He'll stay there. Yeah, it's tough, Ocho, because, look, it's gotten to the point that people don't want us to do our job, Ocho. And I think the thing is, is that more people like us do this now. Yeah. Used to be a time there was only a handful of guys that did this. If you weren't on cbs, if you Weren't on espn, you didn't have an opinion if you had retired because you didn't have a platform to share it if you weren't on those platforms. Now there are more guys like you and myself that have platforms that are able to share their opinion.
Shannon Sharpe
Right?
Chad Johnson
See, it used to be, hey, you ask, you wanted guys that have played the game. Because before Ocho, when you. When I played, you played before. Well, he ain't played the game, so how does he know? Now you get guys played the game.
Shannon Sharpe
Game.
Chad Johnson
Yeah. Now you get guys play the game at a high level level. Now, what's the excuse? You try to nitpick. Well, you didn't win anything. Well, hell, I don't want everybody to win, because if everybody won, that devalues winning. There should be a premium on winning. Winning championships, winning conference, winning the division, winning mvp. If everybody does those things, Ocho, what is the value in that?
Shannon Sharpe
Right? And hold on, wait. Also, where's the value? Sometimes you just happen to be part of a team that actually won. You ain't even do nothing.
Chad Johnson
Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
There's an asterisk sometimes. Yeah, all that winning. Oh, I got a ring. Well, yeah, you got a ring, but.
Chad Johnson
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. All rings aren't created equal. Let's. Let's just start with that. And we understand that, but I'm not. Look, I've been very fortunate to be on. Be on shows with a lot of guys and. And, you know, I'm very fortunate that I won at a high level. I won championships. You know, I, you know, went to the Pro bowl, went all pro, and I got a gold jacket, but it's not like I wear it. I don't wear the rings. That's not.
Shannon Sharpe
I.
Chad Johnson
Honestly, Ocho, I try to give my honest opinion, right? I understand what it takes to play this game at a high level. And it's not easy to be consistent, especially when they know you're the guy and they game plan for you. And you still have to find ways to make plays and make your presence felt. But people kill me all the time. I was like, okay, I'm not saying the guy is bad. I got to take one. And it's easy to say I would take both of them. Hell, anybody can do that. That's not why they pay you money to get your ass on tv. To say, I like to have them both pick one.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, I got.
Chad Johnson
That's your opinion.
Shannon Sharpe
I got better than that. I got better at that.
Chad Johnson
You. You absolutely have. But you. But Ocho, they understand that you have a job to do, and it's not like you dislike one. You're saying based on me playing in this league for over a decade.
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Chad Johnson
Me playing at the level in which I played and watching their games, I think this guy's a little better. Yeah, but see, people don't hear that. People saying, well, you like him. You hate that. Oo. OO like mangoes, man. OO hate bananas. He hate oranges. He hate watermelon. No, bro, I said I like mangoes. I didn't say anything about hating the motherfruit.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. I've been listening. And for me, what I've gotten very savvy at, which I've. Which I've been very good at, is. Is my delivery. It's not what I. It's not what I say. It's how I say it.
Chad Johnson
Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
I mashed that a little bit to soften the blow, because our players during this era, during this day, they're very sensitive on. They're very sensitive.
Chad Johnson
They are.
Shannon Sharpe
So I've learned how to navigate in saying things the right way where there's not offensive to them. Now, now, this year, now that I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I got my feet wet, so I understand that I'm gonna be a little bit more upfront with people.
Chad Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
When it. When it doesn't look like it should.
Chad Johnson
Look, you should. Yeah, Ocho. I mean, look, it's not like you a bum. Because they said they wanted people to play the game. You. To critique the game. Okay. We're giving them guys that played at an extremely high level.
Shannon Sharpe
That's me.
Chad Johnson
To critique the game.
Shannon Sharpe
That's me.
Chad Johnson
Yes. But what happens is they know they can't run no bull job on us. No, no, no. Because we did play the game for an extremely long time, and we did play at a high level. So now what are they gonna say?
Shannon Sharpe
Right? You. Right.
Chad Johnson
Oh, man. Oh, you didn't win.
Shannon Sharpe
No.
Chad Johnson
Okay. No, I did not win at a high level. But just because I didn't win, that mean. That doesn't mean I wasn't a damn good player.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on now. I ain't with no ring, but I won.
Chad Johnson
Well, I'm saying that's. But see, they. That's what they're looking at. Well, you. I mean, Cincinnati. But here's the thing, though, Ocho. You went to Pro Bowl. You were an all pro, so somebody had to vote on those awards. They thought enough. They thought enough of you to put in your ass, though. Why? They thought enough of you. Hey, to be an All Pro.
Shannon Sharpe
And I led the AFC four years in a row. And y'. All. Yeah, all while talking, while they were game planning for me. That was me.
Chad Johnson
But you know, what's happened to Ocho? It doesn't matter how many great things you say. They only heard the bad. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They only hear the bad.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir.
Chad Johnson
Bro, I'm not saying you're a bad person. I'm saying you had a bad game. I'm saying you had a bad stretch. So am I not. Am I not allowed to say what I see, Right? People that understand, understands that X has a job to do. He's doing his job. He's not talking about me as a individual. He's talking about me, the player and my play on the field. I need to be able to differentiate between you, the player, and you the off the field person. Right. I'm talking about. I'm critiquing your play. Drop passes, lack of effort, terrible route, things of that nature. Getting blocked, not getting off the block. Poor technique in the backfield. Staring at the quarterback too long as opposed to the guy that's running the route. That's what we're talking about. We're not talking about you as a individual. We're talking about you the player. Right? I mean, and look, I. I get it. I. Cam ain't gonna let nothing slide. Cam ain't gonna let nothing slide. So y' all come for Cam. Y' all already know Duck. Cause the grenade coming back.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
He gonna pick it up and throw it. He gonna pick it up and throw it back.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on, hold on, right? Ryan gonna fire it back, man.
Chad Johnson
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Ryan gonna fire back now. So this is. This is probably going. This is going to be. To be an ongoing. An ongoing few. Which is. Which is entertaining. This is great. This is great entertainment. This is great for the pivot. It's great for fourth and one. It's great for all parties involved. Listen, me, I'm on the sideline enjoying it. And tell them, y' all go to your corners. Go to your respective corners.
Chad Johnson
Right?
Shannon Sharpe
Keep it about football. Training camper started.
Chad Johnson
Yes. Because Cam is looking at it is that he was asked to do more, right? Because he didn't have a running back like Saquon. He didn't have an offensive line. What they have, and he didn't have two receivers like Devonte and A.J. yes, he. Cam, you were asked to do more, but because you were asked to do more, that doesn't mean Jalen isn't a good quarterback.
Shannon Sharpe
Right? I mean, he's.
Chad Johnson
Or a top 10. Now, if you want to say he's top five, okay, fine, we can debate that. But a top 10 quarterback, I. I can't. I can't. I can't jive with that one.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, I mean, listen. What I. I said it before when we talked about it the other night. What Jalen Hurts is asked to do for the Philadelphia Eagles, he does extremely well. What Jalen Hurts is asked to do within the confines of that offense, he does extremely well. People complain. Well. And I said it. I said it on. The way they play offensively is not aesthetically pleasing. No Lamar Jackson numbers. He's not putting up Baker. Baker Mayfield numbers. He's not putting up Joe Burrow numbers. That's not the way that offensive scheme works. It's not the way it works. That's it.
Chad Johnson
You do realize it's hard to play the way he plays because he has to check his ego because he makes $50 million a year. And now I've got to swallow my ego because I know people on talk radio and I know people on television is going to say, Jalen Hurts couldn't do it. And look, my thing was, I was saying he's going to have to play better than what he's playing. He was turning the ball over at an alarming rate. He was. And they were. And he was playing bad. You look at the postseason, when it hit, he played better than at any point in time.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir.
Chad Johnson
And that's okay. But to say, I grade game to game, and that's what you love about sports, right? Because you get to update your resume, each individual, every week. It's not like a red light, Ocho. My resume. Good. They say update your resume every six months into real workforce, but that's not how it is in pro sports. You update your resume every single week. If you play a weekly sport. Now, if you play basketball, you updating that mofo every night.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
You play baseball. It's the same thing. You understand that? But people that like, oh, you said pro. I got a new set of facts.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
So when Jalen. So when Jalen Hurst was throwing for 100 yards, did it look like. Did he look like what he looked like in the Super Bowl? Did he look like what he looked like in the. In the NFC Championship Game? No. Come on, now. Y' all want to hold? Oh, oh, oh, he's playing. Yes, he played better. When he played better, we spoke better about it.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Hey, hey. When everybody goes in training camp, right? Every team. Two teams that Reported this week on the 22nd, on the 19th, whatever it may be. What is the end goal for every team that went to training camp this week? They won.
Chad Johnson
They, they, they, they, they say Super Bowl. Some of them fooling themselves. Some of them know damn well they ain't got no chance to win the Super Bowl. But lie sometimes don't show you. My coach say, I got. You got a lot to them, but coach college, coach say, hey, home sometimes I got a lot of y'.
Shannon Sharpe
All. Hey. The Philadelphia Eagles.
Chad Johnson
Oh, they got a legitimate chance. Absolutely.
Shannon Sharpe
Give them a chance to go back again. Exactly. With the exact quarterback that Ryan and Cam are talking about. They have a chance to go back again.
Chad Johnson
Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
And as long and knowing Howie and knowing Mr. Lurie, they might have a chance to go back a third goddamn time.
Chad Johnson
Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
The owners, it starts at the top. They mean business. They not talking. They actually mean business. And they put their wallet. Man, let me. I'm. Leave it alone. I'm gonna leave it alone.
Chad Johnson
Yeah. I mean, look, sometimes Ocho going to a great franchise is just like sometimes being born into a great family. You ain't do ish. You just happen to be. You just happen to be born to a family that's worth hundreds of millions or billions of dollars. He went to a great franchise. They took. Look, he was second round pick. They had just gave Carson Wentz over $100 million.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
So give Howie Roseman some credit.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. I have a question.
Chad Johnson
Give Jalen Hurt some credit that he went there, kept his head down. It's like when the opportunity presented itself, he took full advantage of it, just like he did at Alabama. And after Tua came in and took the got the job from him, he went to Oklahoma and played extremely well and played himself because he had, he stayed in Alabama. He wasn't going to be a second round pick. He had to show that he could throw the football. He did that when he went to Oklahoma. Kudos to him.
Shannon Sharpe
Right. I got a question. Can y' all hear me chat? I know y' all looking at me real quick. I have a. I'm just, I'm just throw a hyp hypothetical out there real quick on this for you. If you were to switch owners, right?
Chad Johnson
Yes.
Shannon Sharpe
If you were to take Harry Roseman and Jeffrey L. And put them on the Cowboys and put Jerry Jones in Philadelphia, how many Super Bowls would the Cowboys have right now with Jerry Jones? If you take Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman and you give them the Cowboys.
Chad Johnson
Oh, they won. Yeah. Multiple. Yes. And the Eagles and the Eagles wouldn't be nowhere near the playoffs. Wouldn't nowhere. We near the Super Bowl. Absolutely.
Shannon Sharpe
Okay.
Chad Johnson
See, the difference is Jeffrey Lurie. See, you don't realize how good you can be if you don't care who gets the credit. See, Jerry wants the credit. You don't hear how Roseman doing a whole bunch. I mean, Jeffrey L. Doing a whole bunch of talking.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, we do. After.
Chad Johnson
You don't hear. You don't hear Clark Hunt. You don't hear Clark Hunt doing talking. You don't hear Stan Cronky doing talking. But that's Jerry. Look, be who. Be who you are. And everybody keeps talking about, oh, but he got three suos, and he got two. He got two of them with Jimmy and the other one with Jimmy's players. Since Jimmy all. Since Jimmy has been removed from how many he's got. How many times have they gotten close y' all got to the playoffs? Like, yeah, we. This is our year. Y' all say that every year because he gonna get in the way. No, ain't no questions about it. No question. Even if he had Patrick Mahomes, it doesn't matter. He could have. He could have Patrick Mahomes. He could have Kansas City's roster.
Shannon Sharpe
He could have.
Chad Johnson
Could have Baltimore's roster. It's about. You don't hear Steve Batti.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, yeah.
Chad Johnson
Do y' all even know that Steve Bichot. If you're a Baltimore, you know, Raven you or Baltimore fan, you know who Steve Bichati is.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah.
Chad Johnson
But for the most part, he stayed out the way Ozzy and. And Eric Dasta run the show. See, Jerry wants credit. That's the difference between owners that win. Look at Eddie DeBartolo. Look at the Rooney. Look at the team. Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick ready? Team coach. Mr. Craft was perfectly fine with Coach Belichick getting the credit.
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Chad Johnson
You go back and look at Eddie DeBartolo when they was winning in San Francisco. Carmen Policy did all. Everything. And he had Bill Washington, he had George Seaford. Go back and look at the rooneys in the set 70s. Bill Nunn Jr. That was.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Radio Raheem, Daddy. You don't know that. Radio Raheem, daddy was the one that was selecting the players. Bill Nunn Senior. Bill Nunn Jr. Was Radio Raheem.
Shannon Sharpe
Ah, I like it.
Chad Johnson
See, Jerry wants to be the new age Al Davis, that's who. It's my. That's who his hero was. That's who he cozied up to early on.
Shannon Sharpe
Al Davis, huh?
Chad Johnson
Yep.
Shannon Sharpe
Football season is upon us.
Chad Johnson
It absolutely is.
Shannon Sharpe
I couldn't be happier.
Chad Johnson
But yeah, we. We're not. We're not. We're not gonna. We not. You want to get out here? Hey. Oh, look who it is. Look who it is. Ocho.
Shannon Sharpe
Who that? Hey, there we go. What's up Thanos? What they do, Twin? What you doing up this time of night?
Chad Johnson
Yeah, good question. What you doing up this time of night? He says I normally go to bed around 9, 9:30. He said Titus goes to bed at 7:30, 8 o' clock.
Shannon Sharpe
On four them. What's up, twin?
Chad Johnson
Say what?
Shannon Sharpe
I like it.
Chad Johnson
See, we went for a car ride today. Tell Ocho we went for a car ride today.
Shannon Sharpe
Bark, bark.
Chad Johnson
You on the couch. No, please don't bark. Don't start that. This joker here.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, what a beautiful day.
Chad Johnson
Yeah. Check out behind the Flow, a podcast documentary series following the launch of San Diego Football Club. We go behind the scenes and explore the stories of those involved.
Shannon Sharpe
San Diego coming to MLS is going to be a game changer because this region is been hungry for a men's professional soccer team.
Chad Johnson
We need veteran players and we need young players. Like you're building a team from scratch and so the succession plan of long.
Shannon Sharpe
Term success needs to be defined.
Chad Johnson
We need to embrace this community.
Shannon Sharpe
When I was 13, my uncle took me to a qualifier and we watched Paraguay against Chile. Pouring rain.
Chad Johnson
Just watching the fans jumping up and.
Shannon Sharpe
Down, I think that was definitely a.
Chad Johnson
Watershed Blue Shed moment for me. Not only was that going to be.
Shannon Sharpe
My game, but it was going to be my life.
Chad Johnson
Listen to San Diego FC behind the flow now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Okay. Jalen Hurst was asked if he will open up his play style more now that he's won a Super Bowl. He said no. I went a very long time being told I got to do it a certain type of way that didn't get me the win when I did how everyone told me to. When you put so much energy into personal performance, you kind of lose sight of the main thing of winning. Since the 2020, since the loss in 2022, it's been my main motivation to find ways to win. Regardless of how it looks, I just want to find ways to win and, and that mentality I want this team to have.
Shannon Sharpe
I like it. Perfect answer.
Chad Johnson
I know a guy who, who, who won a bunch of bunch of bun. A bunch of games and a bunch of championships doing it that way. Tom Brady.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Putting the team.
Chad Johnson
Y' all remember Tom Brady in his first Super bowl, didn't he throw for 150 yards? Do y' all remember Tom Brady in the super bowl against the Rams? In which. The second super bowl when he played in Atlanta. How many yards did he throw for? You see winning, but now they want Jayla Hurts to get out there and be like, patrick Mo, man, we need you to throw for 400. I throw for 400. We lose. Then what are we doing?
Shannon Sharpe
Nothing. It just look good until you look at it. Until you look at the stat line.
Chad Johnson
The pretty person that get dressed up with nowhere to go.
Shannon Sharpe
Almost.
Chad Johnson
What good is that? O. I got on my Sunday best. I got on some nice boots. I got on nice suit. Got nice outfit, don't you? I'm dressed to the nine.
Shannon Sharpe
Nowhere to go.
Chad Johnson
I ain't got nowhere to go. So he throw for all them yards and they lose. Now what?
Shannon Sharpe
None.
Chad Johnson
The most yards ever thrown for in the super bowl game. Tom Brady has it. What Was the outcome?
Shannon Sharpe
Loss.
Chad Johnson
505. Lost two games. He threw for one game. He threw for 150. How many yards did he throw for against the Rams? The second time in Atlanta, I think it was 2019. I'm trying to win.
Shannon Sharpe
That's it. That's all that matters. At the end of the day, no matter what. No matter what the outsiders say. No matter what the outsiders say, Philadelphia plays one style of football offensively, one style. A.J. brown. Some days, it's gonna be your day. Devonte Smith. Someday it's gonna be your day. Saquons. Some days. Some. Some days. Some Sundays, it's gonna be your day. That's it. Jalen Hurst. When it comes to the passing game, whatever you give me, that's what I'm taking. I'm not forcing Nathaniel and he showed that that formula, it wins your ring.
Chad Johnson
Yep. Man.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm coming back to play this year. Man, That.
Chad Johnson
A reporter asked Jalen Hurts why he didn't wear his super bowl ring. His response? I've moved on to a new year. It's really as simple as that.
Shannon Sharpe
Boy. That boy mean business. Wait, what was his response?
Chad Johnson
I've moved on to the new year. It's really as simple as that.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, well, that's. That's like some. Like some Kobe Jordan type. Listen, I know I won, but the bit. The. The job at hand is not finished. My goodness. Okay, I like that. I like that. I like that. Damn.
Chad Johnson
Oh, I definitely put mine on. I wore it that night, and then it went in the safe deposit box.
Shannon Sharpe
That was it, huh?
Chad Johnson
That was it. I don't wear them. You cut. Here's the thing, Ocho.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
They know you got them.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah. They don't need to have it on, huh?
Chad Johnson
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm walking around side, like trying like a wind chime, you know.
Shannon Sharpe
Man.
Chad Johnson
I like the A. He's very matter of fact. He's like, hey, I do. Hey. He coached by his dad. He played for Coach Saban. Yeah, the thing, the main thing is the main thing. And it's on to the next. That was Tom. What's your favorite super bowl ring? The next one I get.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, I got, Hey, I got a question. Hypothetically speaking, when the Bengals bowl this year, you think they'll get me a ring?
Chad Johnson
I don't know. They might. Sometimes that happens.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Yeah, yeah, I think, I mean, they gave. The Ravens gave Jo one when they won in 2012.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think, I think that. So I, I, yeah, I'm probably gonna get me a ring because I know Joe and Chase and Mike Brown. They gonna, they gonna. Hey, listen, I might, Hey, I might not be out there in real life. Hey, you see that stance? Hey, call it, Call it for me, huh? Call it for me, call it for me.
Chad Johnson
All I know is I saw that man put both hands in your breastplate. Come on, sit down in that chair. Hold on.
Shannon Sharpe
Ball in there. Call it, call it.
Chad Johnson
What you want me to do? Blue 17. Blue 17 said, huh?
Shannon Sharpe
I still.
Chad Johnson
You know what happens? All that dancing in one place, that do see that joke coming up through your chin?
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, no. You know. You know, I don't really dance. I got places to be. I got places to be. Hey, I felt real quick right there. I felt real quick.
Chad Johnson
See, that's the thing. See, that's how your mind play tricks on you. You see, you felt quick. That's what happens.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, my goodness.
Chad Johnson
Die Low recently gave away 250 free meals while working at KFC for a day where the fan pulled up wearing a Bucks jersey. This is the first time Shiloh had seen one. Check this out. Oo, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, he got the jersey.
Shannon Sharpe
The 28 jersey.
Chad Johnson
The 28 jersey. The28 jersey. That's the first one I seen. That's it. I told you. I wrote y. Hold on.
Shannon Sharpe
I'm about to give you five. I'm about to give you five bags, bro.
Chad Johnson
Take all these, bro. Make sure everybody eat, bro. Signing anything or not? Yes, of course.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, take it out.
Chad Johnson
Let me get it. Appreciate you, bro. All right. This the first Bucks jersey I ever Signed. Oh, yeah, the first one. I don't know where you got this from, but about to order that throwback in here. I need to see you in that thing.
Shannon Sharpe
Nah, most definitely appreciate you, brother.
Chad Johnson
I'm assigned the front, too. Yeah, do it.
Shannon Sharpe
I was thinking that, too, on the way here.
Chad Johnson
I ain't even show you this.
Shannon Sharpe
What's your name, bro? All right. Nice to meet you, bro.
Chad Johnson
Appreciate you, man.
Shannon Sharpe
That got to be a great feeling. That got to be a great feeling.
Chad Johnson
I wonder if somebody got that number one side, because I was number one in the preseason. Ocho. I think it might be worth some.
Shannon Sharpe
Money even back then.
Chad Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
How do you let you get away.
Chad Johnson
With wearing number one in the preseason? You could wear anything in the preseason. All the 80s were gone.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay. I ain't know that.
Chad Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, that got to be a great. Hey, that got to be one of the best feelings, man, to see people wearing your jersey, despite.
Chad Johnson
Oh, for sure.
Shannon Sharpe
You know, you. You finally get drafted. You finally get drafted to a team, and then to come in and. Oh, that's. That's dope. That. That got to be a great feeling. I remember. I remember not only getting drafted, my favorite moment that had me like that, how Shiloh was just there. Was seeing myself in Madden, but seeing myself In Madden in 2001, I was going crazy. My stats was low as hell. I wasn't tripping. But, dog, I would call it all my homeboy. I say, well, y' all won't believe it. Well, I'm in Madden. I'm mad. Just being able to get. Being able to play with yourself, man, that was awesome. Even I was.
Chad Johnson
Hold on, Ocho. Hold on. Now. Rephrase that.
Shannon Sharpe
What? Being able to.
Chad Johnson
Oh, pause, pause. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, man, you. Hey, come on back with that one. Yeah, I know. Yeah. Pause, pause, pause.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, hey. It didn't even. Hey, it ain't. It didn't date.
Chad Johnson
It didn't register.
Shannon Sharpe
That was good. That was good.
Chad Johnson
My bad.
Shannon Sharpe
My bad. Pause, pause.
Chad Johnson
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, man, I was like, hey, you got me good, man. I need to go down to Tampa. Hey, he passing out free meals. Yeah, I give me 20 pieces of honey barbecue. They still sell those at KFC. Man, I've been to KFC. I ain't been to KFC. They used to have the 20. They still serve them 100 barbecue wings. Yeah. Hey, Chad, can you still get honey barbecue wings at kfc? I know y' all know chat.
Shannon Sharpe
You eat kfc.
Chad Johnson
I will.
Shannon Sharpe
Nah, you tripping, man. You Better go into churches. Ain't nothing like churches, boy. And number three, Three legs fries. Get you a little coleslaw on the side.
Chad Johnson
You eat coleslaw?
Shannon Sharpe
You don't eat.
Chad Johnson
Hell, no.
Shannon Sharpe
You don't eat coleslaw? What? Okay. You know, the way you feel about coleslaw is the way I feel about my grandma. Okras, she get them okra from. From churches. I can't do that. I can't do that. No, ma'. Am. Talk about. Do I want some. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. But I will take that coleslaw with that strawberry soda.
Chad Johnson
No, no, I can't.
Shannon Sharpe
I wonder if anybody in here from Miami.
Chad Johnson
No, you know, they don't have. They don't have them. Oh, damn. Because that was, I think, the last. I had them in 1998.
Shannon Sharpe
Right.
Chad Johnson
And I had them again in 2002. I think that was the last time. So.
Shannon Sharpe
What a chat.
Chad Johnson
Look. Look like, man, I've only been. I've only been to Popeyes one time in the drive through.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, yeah. Hey, Popeyes Biscuits.
Chad Johnson
But, you know, y'. All. Did y' all have Popeyes? Because we got Popeyes on Friday.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, we got Popeye, right?
Chad Johnson
No, I'm saying for the team. I a. I ain't gonna get all the lineman.
Shannon Sharpe
The lineman did that. Hey, boy, them linemen don't play the rookies, man. They come with big bags of Popeye.
Chad Johnson
We'll be going on away game on the road trip. Yeah, I remember them.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, I feel. I feel.
Chad Johnson
But see, we got Popeyes on Friday, so they didn't have the conventional meal. Normally. They, you know, they have a spread. They have potatoes, and they have this and that. On Fridays, you had Popeyes and you had pizza. And so I would always. They would always bring me, like, five wings. I just wanted the wings mild. I'm a win. You know, I'm a wing guy. When it comes to, like, chicken, I eat the wings, right? Wings. Short thigh. Drumstick. Breast.
Shannon Sharpe
Oh, man, every time I think about.
Chad Johnson
I know y' all probably, man, you could tell on country. He talking about short thighs. Y' all say thighs, but. Yeah, we call them thighs. We talking about short thighs. We call them short thighs in the country.
Shannon Sharpe
Short thighs.
Chad Johnson
So what's your favorite part of the chicken? Wing breast. Drumstick.
Shannon Sharpe
I love. I love dark meat. Now, when I. When I go to Pollo Tropical, you know, they got Pollo Tropical. Where you from? Oh, where you at?
Chad Johnson
No, no, I don't know. Listen, they got what OO said. I love.
Shannon Sharpe
I love Pollo Tropical. Right? Huh? Pollo. Pollo. Pollo.
Chad Johnson
No, they ain't got no. I don't know about no pollo.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, so po. TR out where I'm. I listen, love. I always get half a chicken. Dark meat. I love dark meat. Leg and thigh rice, beans with sweet plants. And that's why I get my j. If I'm not. If I'm not at pollo. I get my churches. Three legs French fries. I need my coleslaw. I can't believe the chat. The chat don't like coleslaw, which I don't understand how you don't like coleslaw. No strawberry soda. Strawberry soda in my apple pie, and I'm good to go.
Chad Johnson
Hey, you know, got some great fried chicken. Publix.
Shannon Sharpe
Who? Man, what you know about Publix? Man, stop playing.
Chad Johnson
What you know about. I know when I go in there, I ask them with the last time, can y' all drop me some wing? They like. Mr. Sharp is gonna take us. I say, I'll be right here, man.
Shannon Sharpe
You don't made me get up out my seat. I'm on my.
Chad Johnson
I go. I go sit. I go sit in the car for them. For them 12 to 15 minutes.
Shannon Sharpe
What you know about public chicken, huh?
Chad Johnson
Man, I. Hey, I go getting the full. I get that. The four wings, Mac and cheese, green beans and. And that. That, that. That road.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on. We talk about Publix. Hold on. Please tell me birthday party. You have Publix cake or the cupcakes?
Chad Johnson
I ain't no cupcake guy.
Shannon Sharpe
I don't know what kind of cake. I don't know what ingredients. I don't know what public does when it comes to the cake. And. And them cupcakes at Publix. Lord have mercy. I ain't never tasted nothing like that. Anybody in the chat. Anybody in the chat then had them public. The Publix cupcakes. Know what I'm talking about, man? Hey, boy, that public chicken and cupcakes owe me nothing. Don't owe me nothing. Oh, man. Boy, you just brought back some memories, boy.
Chad Johnson
Nah, I got this lady, her savory and sweet treat. Atl, man, she do cakes. Yeah, she doing a red velvet for my brother.
Shannon Sharpe
Yes, sir.
Chad Johnson
He coming into town on Sunday.
Shannon Sharpe
She can get down, huh?
Chad Johnson
I already know. I already know. She wash her feet because she had both feet in them.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Yeah, man.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, speak. Speaking of cooking, I haven't been able to find them. There's a young. There's a young lady that used to cook for us. My friends and I are friends that Came in town in Cincinnati. If anybody from Cincinnati sees this, her name is Ms. Sonata. I haven't been able to find Ms. Sonata in, in years. I'm talking about years. I'm sure that's what he.
Chad Johnson
What she cooked.
Shannon Sharpe
Man. When all them boys came in town, Unc man, we used to have baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, candy, yam greens. I specifically would always ask her, Ms. Sonata, please make me my yellow cake with the chocolate icing top of that. She had other specialties. Other specialties that she was exquisite. And she would add that to the meal. And I'm talking about. I used to fly in maybe, maybe 30 people for a Pacific game. Had to be a good game was playing. I had my homeboys off the street, you know. Then I had my people out the. Out the alley. Called my alley. Boys Vicks. All y' all boys. I know y' all probably gonna see this, man. We used to come out there. We used to go to the store, right? Let me tell you how I had the stadium rocking in Cincinnati. I don't mean to be off topic. We would go to the music store. You know, like the music store, like Sam's or something like that. We would get. We would get whistles, we would get drumsticks, we would get cowbells. And I would have all them boys in the family section. Everybody have on 85 jerseys. Everybody have on 85 jerseys, right? So we took about 30, 40, 40 dudes. Everybody got 85 jersey on. Everybody had on Tim's so they can make the noise with the Thames in the stadium with the bells and the whistles and the cowbells. Them boys turned the stadium out. I'm talking about turned it out. So they. They done put all of Liberty City in Cincinnati up there cutting the food like they. Like they the Junkanoo dog. Them was some of the best times. And when that lady, Ms. Sonata used to cook for everybody. Oh, man, the food was perfect. It was good. It was good.
Chad Johnson
Yeah. Nothing like old home cooked meal. Like I said, I had a teammate.
Shannon Sharpe
Man, I wish I could find a girl.
Chad Johnson
You talking about that yellow rice and chicken. But you cook. I see why. Reggie. I know you watching this or named Reggie Johnson. He ain't made weight yet. Hey, Ojo. I'll be over there eating. Yeah, take a play home. Eat at night. Eat the morning of still be five pounds underweight. Like how? Damn, I ain't got no problem. But I see why he didn't make weight. Oh, that child could cook. And she look, you know, when you Get a person love to cook.
Shannon Sharpe
He was big, like muscle. You talking about muscle?
Chad Johnson
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he was solid. Reggie was solid.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah. Damn.
Chad Johnson
But hey, put a steam room in his house and everything still ain't work. Me, I'm taking everything. I mean, the cornbread muffins, I mean, hey, like I said, that child could cook. Oh, Lord have mercy. If you play, if you end. Denver.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
And you was in Denver from 91, 92, 93.
Shannon Sharpe
Huh.
Chad Johnson
We had gambling. We go there, we play card. They play. We talk with the thing. Play tongue, we roll dice. More cooking. Oh, man. That cheese with that ground beef in there with nacho.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Hey, I, I, you know, that poor.
Chad Johnson
Child knows you could cook.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, I'm a little, I'm a little weird too. I don't, I don't know. I'm like that though, you know, as much as I love cooking in general.
Chad Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Not just. Not. I have a woman. I don't. You, you can't cook. You can't cook. I don't want you in no kitchen. But if it's like, like we having something big and then people coming over or something like that. Now, now, that is one of the only reasons I will allow someone to cook for me in general. But it's me and I'm home. And like coming home to a home cooked meal, I don't like that. I don't like whoever I'm dating or seeing. I don't like them behind no kitchen and no stove or like, it's weird. I don't know why I'm like that. And I've always been like that. I've dated people in the past. They were like, I can't wait to cook for you. I say, no, you don't. No, you don't. No, no, no, no, you don't. That I don't. I don't require. That's not one of my prerequisites. I don't, I don't.
Chad Johnson
Yeah. I mean, but hey, you get somebody can cook, but they gotta love it. Yeah, man, I had, I dated a young lady, Ocho.
Shannon Sharpe
She can get out.
Chad Johnson
She's been a chef.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
She could go to any restaurant and you could order something. She could taste it. She said, I can make this. You go to mastros. You go to steak 48. You go to any high end restaurant, she would eat it. She said, I can make this, right? Go home in two, three days.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, she got it.
Chad Johnson
Come home, you think you in mastros. I said, no, you can't cook like this because My weight went from like 238 to 250 quick.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. Hey, that's. I don't know. I. I don't know what. I don't know what it is. And I've always been like that. And, and people, if you understand, if you ever seen me go to restaurants, you understand how I've been tipping the past 30 years.
Chad Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
You'll understand. You understand why I, I much rather. I much rather bless the service industry.
Chad Johnson
Yeah. If I have. If I have an event, you know, yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Bingo.
Chad Johnson
I let my homeboy get on the grill.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But just. Just be cooking. Me coming home to congratulations. Like, girl, if you don't sit down and get up out of that kitchen. If I wanted. If. If I wanted someone to cook for me, I would. I would have dated a chef. That's it. If I. That's what I want. I'm not. I'm not in. I ain't in that. For one. You ain't running on my water bill or my. My light bill or my gas bill. So sit down. Let's. Let's start there. I know what you can do. I know what you could do. I know what you could do in the kitchen. I heard your stories, but you ain't running my goddamn electricity.
Chad Johnson
Check out behind the Flow, a podcast documentary series following the launch of San Diego Football Club. We go behind the scenes and explore the stories of those involved.
Shannon Sharpe
San Diego coming to MLS is going to be a game changer because this region has been hungry for a men's professional soccer team.
Chad Johnson
We need veteran players and we need young players.
Shannon Sharpe
Like, you're building a team from scratch. And so the succession plan of long term success needs to be defined.
Chad Johnson
We need to embrace this community.
Shannon Sharpe
When I was 13, my uncle took me to a qualifier and we watched Paraguay against Chile. Pouring rain.
Chad Johnson
Just watching the fans jumping up and.
Shannon Sharpe
Down, I think that was definitely a watershed moment for me.
Chad Johnson
Not only was that going to be.
Shannon Sharpe
My game, but it was going to be my life.
Chad Johnson
Listen to San Diego FC behind the Flow now on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson was asked if 2025 might be the year to finally win the Super Bowl. This is what he responded to Ocho. He said, to be honest, I really try not thinking that far because every time we have those discussions, we get to the playoffs, but we don't punch in, we don't finish. I'm trying to. I'm trying to finish camp the right way and then get ready for the Bills. I'm trying not to think about the super bowl yet.
Shannon Sharpe
I like that. And I hate when reporters ask those questions. Thinking so far ahead, one game at a time. Every player should be thinking one game at a time. We already know at the end.
Chad Johnson
They only ask guys that haven't won the Super Bowl. You think they were. You think they asked. Did they ever ask Tom Brady about the Super Bowl? No. Did they ask Patrick Mahomes about the Super Bowl? No, they only asked the quarterbacks, the great quarterbacks that haven't won it. Guess what? Lamar Jackson win. They'll never ask him about 26. They won't ask about 27. If Joe Burrow is. If Josh Allen or. Or. I guarantee you, they don't ask. They don't ask. Jalen hurts about no super bowling. 25, right?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Got to be done it right?
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
You. You. Oh, until you do it. Oh, he could do that. But until you show people you can.
Shannon Sharpe
Do it, they gonna be on your head. I. I don't. I don't think it's a good question to ask you. You know. You know what it is? We all, in the training camp, we all have the same goal. Once we get to camp, the end goal is to make it to the Super Bowl. We already know why. We know why. We know why we fell short. Turnovers. We understand that. We all watch the game. I mean, the reporter. I know. I understand. Reporters have a job to do. Let's talk about this season. Let's talk. Let's talk about the seat. Let's talk about week one. They. They go. They go straight to the finish line. We don't want to go straight to the finish line. Let's talk about who we got week one and who we're. We're preparing for. I mean, but that's neither here nor.
Chad Johnson
It's funny, man. I ain't think about. No, I ain't. I ain't think about week one, but see, it was different than Ocho. Cause we was playing in the preseason, right? So it wasn't no think about no week one. I'm just trying to get through training camp. I'm trying to get through these preseason games healthy. And then when week one roll around, I worry about week one, but I'm trying to stay healthy in training camp. I ain't trying to get no blisters. I ain't trying to get no dings, and I ain't trying to get dinged when I get. When I. In preseason game. Because, like I said, ocho, you know, you got 10 plays in the first game. You got, you know, probably 15, 20 plays in the second game. And you played into the third quarter, the third game, four, the fourth game, you sat out.
Shannon Sharpe
Wow. Yeah.
Chad Johnson
So I wouldn't, you know, now these guys. Cuz Lamar. There's a good chance Lamar might not play. He, if he plays, he'll probably play 10 plays the entire preseason.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah. If. If I'm not mistaken, I thought, I thought I could be wrong. I, I thought I saw some saying that, that Joe is going to play a little bit more in the, in the, in the preseason.
Chad Johnson
Well, he should, because y' all start. Y' all start slow, so something has to change. Change something up, Ojo.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, yeah, Just. Just play a few more staffs to get more acclimated to the games as opposed to just going in there, you know, week one and, and, and trying to play catch up. Where I think every time a season starts, the defense is always ahead of the curve in front of offenses because all they gotta do.
Chad Johnson
Well, defense is always gonna be ahead of the curve, just like when we got the training camp, Ocho, because they. Our stuff is timing. It takes time to get timing.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Jalen Ramsey was asked outright if he would play safety. He said he'd be willing to, but also included an interesting detail. Yeah, I'm not getting paid what I'm getting paid not to affect the game in certain. Be in certain spots.
Shannon Sharpe
I like that. Hey, that's a bar that they. That is a bar. They not paying me this much, this much money not to be able to affect the game. And where, where can. Where can a player affect the game? Best at. At the corner position.
Chad Johnson
Well, unless you Ed. Re.
Shannon Sharpe
Gonna be no. Ed Reeves for a very.
Chad Johnson
Nah, man, to me, he the best safety ever played. Yeah, and I played. I played. I played in there with Ronnie. Yeah, I played with Ed. I got a year. Ed got a year. Troy.
Shannon Sharpe
He different.
Chad Johnson
I ain't never seen a guy take the ball away like him.
Shannon Sharpe
He was different. Hey, talk about a true. A true student of the game. He can tell you before he do it.
Chad Johnson
CD Lamb needed to get something off his chest today, Ocho. Oh, I feel like it. I feel like the league knows what happens when I'm healthy and I have diet for a whole season. But if you don't, I will happily show you what's going to be like this year. Honestly, I'm a dominant receiver. I don't like to speak highly of myself, but I can't wait to show you guys, I like it. CD And George Pickens debuted a new handshake. Let's take a look at this. Ojo.
Shannon Sharpe
Let's go. They threw some up. I don't know what they threw. I don't know what they threw up. If we finally we got something to look forward to. If you're a Cowboys fans, you got something to look forward to. Look at. Listen, it's gonna be exciting. Offensively, it's gonna be exciting. It's going to be fireworks. Goddamn George picking his E. I almost said elite. He's good. Very good. If he got his head on straight and he keep the main.
Chad Johnson
I'm glad, Ocho. Cause we throw around that. Elite. We throw around.
Shannon Sharpe
Listen, if he keep the main thing, the main thing this season over there in Dallas, not only is he gonna have a great season along with CD Lamb and Dak, he gonna have a nice payday at the end of the season. And it won't be able to end up. It don't got to be. It don't. Ain't got to be the Cowboys. They don't need to be there. They don't need to be there. He can go somewhere else and be a number one and do what he needs to do. He doesn't see everybody else get paid and he was supposed to be right in line next. So this is your year.
Chad Johnson
Well, kicking the can down the road ain't gonna help that with Michael because how you gonna pay Michael? Cause Michael, because here's the thing. You signed Michael last year before this. 35. You might can get it for 35.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
Now you have to go to 42. 43.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, it's unfortunate, man. It's unfortunate. But.
Chad Johnson
Hey. All right, Ocho, we're gonna get out of here on this one. It's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, I still got it.
Chad Johnson
True and famous Jerry throwing shade at Micah. Micah depressed. Two Cowboy players fighting each other on the first day of training camp. Cowboy disappointment. Oo, you, you, you, you. You ready to go with that? Yeah. You think the Cowboys gonna have a disappointing season? No offense?
Shannon Sharpe
No, I don't know what they're gonna do on. On defense. I can tell you what they're gonna do on offense, though. As long as Dax stays upright and healthy, I can tell you what they're gonna do with offense, though. I know what CD Lamb is gonna do. I know what George Picketon gonna do. I know it's gonna happen. I wish they would. I wish they would double CD and watching. We. We got to understand George Pickens is someone that can go from. He can hit his head off the goal post from anywhere on the field.
Chad Johnson
He can.
Shannon Sharpe
I didn't see Lance. I didn't see him take Hitches. He can go deep. He can do it all now.
Chad Johnson
Hopefully he has his head on. He's in a great situation. Quarterback that can get him to football.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
They wanted him. And so hopefully, you know, all the bad taste, all the things that happened in Pittsburgh, he left that there. And he comes with a new slate in Dallas. Dr. Frank L. Bellamy. What up, doc? Hey, fam. Just checking in. I appreciate the love, energy, and passion each of you bring every single night. Well, we thank you. We appreciate you watching every single night. Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
And subscribers Kemper Norwood Jr. Said, My question is, who's on your Mount Rushmore of Atlanta? Rappers of all time.
Shannon Sharpe
Wow, That's a good one.
Chad Johnson
Three stacks. Damn. Three stacks. Tip Jeezy My might Rushmore. So don't be coming to me talking about all this. This is mine, right? Three stacks. Luda T I Jeezy. Yes, I know little baby in Atlanta. I know Savage. I know future. But for me, I ain't leaving three stacks off and tip Luda Jeezy. Nah. Runtail that. Deshaun Allen. Say, what's up, Ocho? Question. Who had the best comeback jokes between Fred Sanford, Esther Martin, Pam or George Jefferson and Wheezy.
Shannon Sharpe
Wheezy. The best. It got to be Esther.
Chad Johnson
Fred Samford and Esther.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, definitely Fred. Yeah. Fred Sanford, Esther. Hey, that's classic. Classic. Matter of fact, you know what? I. Can I tell you something?
Chad Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
You know what I love about when we do the show during the week? Because we end around 12, 12:30. You know what? Come on. At 1 o'.
Chad Johnson
Clock. San Francisco.
Shannon Sharpe
San Francisco.
Chad Johnson
I would go. I would go. Fred. Fred. Sanford and Esther. Martin and Pam. And then Georgia Wheezy.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, absolutely.
Chad Johnson
Aaron O. It's good to see players with short careers getting to just do like Sterling and Tony Boseli. Hopefully, Eric Williams is next. Thank you. We're very, very excited. My brother goes into the hall, what, a week from Saturday. What is that? The first. That's the first. A week from Saturday. The first. Right. We're extremely excited. I'm excited. I'm. Hell, I ain't heard him speak in such a long time. He ain't got before minutes. He ain't got the kind of time that I had. Is it get y' all ass up there and sit y' all ass down. But it ain't before of them. So, I mean, they probably let him go a little longer, but I'm excited. Past Dub said to save your life, which jersey would you pick between the Raiders and the Steelers? The most sought after helmet. The two most sought after helmets at the Pro Bowl, Raiders and the Cowboys. You had to, like, put a bid in, like, hey, bro, if you make the Pro bowl, bro, hey, can I get that helmet? Because you got to realize who was going.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
You got Troy the quarterback. Okay. Yeah. I love the trade quarter. You got time. You got Mike Irving, you got Emmett. Those are the skill position. And then you had Nate Newton, you had Big Easy, you had Larry Allen.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah.
Chad Johnson
And then for the Raiders, you had Tim Brown. I think one year you had Jerry. Who else? You had like t. Mac, Terry McDaniel. Yeah, but everybody wanted those. We were. We were Steeler fans growing up. My mom liked the Steelers, so I took. I think I took my first or third grade picture in a Steelers jersey. Franco Harris never forget because you remember Steeler jersey used to have those sleeves on show. They carry the three quarter sleeve. The sleeve come to your elbow. Hot, hot ass jerseys. Jalen Ivey said better season. Ocho, 06. Tori Holt, 03.
Shannon Sharpe
I don't remember what I did in 06.
Chad Johnson
I think Tory hold had like 16. I think you had 1600 too. I think Tory hold had like 1600 because Tori Hole had like a stretch, like five. Like four or five straight seasons. He went over 1500.
Shannon Sharpe
Hey, man, you. Man, you see that team? He. You see that team he was able to play for?
Chad Johnson
Tori had 1696. How many touchdowns? Oh, was that the same year that what you call him had? Yeah, 1696, 12 touchdowns. And how many will Ocho have? Ocho, yo, he beat you about 300 yards and five touchdown, but I gotta rock with you.
Shannon Sharpe
Hold on, I have a question.
Chad Johnson
Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe
Do they understand who he played for, what team he played for, what era? The greatest show on turf.
Chad Johnson
I think. You know what, Ojo? I think what you call him. Well, that was 03. What you call was still there. I think in 03, Kurt Bulger with quarterback, because he put us a number with Bolgers, too. You remember Mark Bola? Ocho, he put up some numbers with him.
Shannon Sharpe
Yeah, and you can listen, Mark ain't he listen. Mark ain't had to do much. It was Mark Bulger, wasn't it? Yeah, yeah. He had all them boys over there on offense, man.
Chad Johnson
Man, them boys run that. Hey, boy, they run that speed out him. I rub it, Ike. Boy, they run that speed out on.
Shannon Sharpe
You smooth as hell.
Chad Johnson
Like they fall enough to take a that 10, roll to 12 and fall off the table. Jvon said, what's your reaction to Dante Jones video? I didn't.
Shannon Sharpe
Dante Jones.
Chad Johnson
Okay. It was funny. I don't know. I ain't see it.
Shannon Sharpe
Me neither. What is it?
Chad Johnson
I don't know. We'll look at. We'll look at it. We'll try to get to it on when we own Tomorrow.

Club Shay Shay: Nightcap Hour 2 – Unc and Ocho React to Cam Newton’s Response to Ryan Clark
Release Date: July 24, 2025
In this engaging episode of Club Shay Shay, NFL legend Shannon Sharpe, alongside co-host Chad “Ocho” Johnson, delves deep into the heated exchange between Cam Newton and Ryan Clark. The discussion navigates through player performances, team dynamics, ownership strategies, and lighter moments that add a personal touch to the conversation.
The episode kicks off with a detailed analysis of Cam Newton’s recent response to Ryan Clark. Ocho emphatically critiques Cam’s comments, emphasizing the importance of focusing on merit and statistics rather than personal attacks.
Ocho Johnson [00:51]: “Cam Newton responded to Ryan Clark. Listen to what Cam had to say... we keep attacking Cam the person or why he didn't jump on the fumble... it's backed by merit and logic.”
Shannon Sharpe echoes the sentiment, advocating for keeping the discourse respectful and centered around football rather than personal grievances.
Shannon Sharpe [02:05]: “Let’s keep it clean. This ain't no boxing match. There's no need to get personal.”
The conversation transitions into a broader evaluation of quarterback performances in the NFL. Both hosts discuss the challenges quarterbacks face and the often unfair criticisms they endure.
Chad Johnson [03:45]: “People killing me all the time. I'm not saying the guy is bad. I'm saying I need to critique your play on the field.”
Shannon emphasizes the entertainment aspect of such exchanges, recognizing their role in engaging fans and growing platforms.
Shannon Sharpe [05:14]: “What Ryan and Cam are doing is entertainment. It’s pure entertainment.”
A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to dissecting the impact of ownership on team performance. Chad criticizes certain ownership styles, particularly pointing out the differences between proactive and credit-seeking owners.
Chad Johnson [21:48]: “Look, the difference is Jeffrey Lurie... you don't hear how Roseman doing a whole bunch. That's Jerry. He wants the credit.”
Shannon adds perspective on how effective ownership can lead to sustained team success without overshadowing the efforts of players and coaches.
Shannon Sharpe [20:06]: “The owners, it starts at the top. They mean business. They put their wallet on it.”
The hosts discuss the aspirations of various teams, focusing on the Philadelphia Eagles and their quarterback Jalen Hurts. They analyze his performance and potential for future Super Bowl victories.
Chad Johnson [17:01]: “Jalen Hurts is playing extremely well. He stayed in Alabama, showed he could throw the football at Oklahoma.”
Shannon underscores the importance of team dynamics over individual statistics, highlighting the Eagles' balanced offensive strategy.
Shannon Sharpe [29:32]: “No matter what, Philadelphia plays one style of football offensively... that formula wins your ring.”
Adding a personal and humorous touch, Shannon and Chad share stories about their favorite foods, cooking preferences, and memorable moments from their playing days. This segment showcases their camaraderie and offers listeners relatable content.
Shannon Sharpe [36:07]: “If I want someone to cook for me, I would have dated a chef. That’s it.”
Chad Johnson [39:50]: “She's been a chef. She could make anything you want at high-end restaurants at home in two, three days.”
These moments provide a break from the intense discussions, revealing the hosts' personalities and interests outside the football realm.
The episode concludes with an interactive Q&A segment where listeners’ questions are addressed. Topics range from favorite players' comebacks to hypothetical scenarios involving team management and player performances.
Listener Question [56:37]: “Who’s on your Mount Rushmore of Atlanta rappers of all time?”
Chad Johnson: “Three stacks. Tip, Jeezy, T.I., Jeezy... I ain't leaving three stacks off.”
Listener Question [57:57]: “Who had the best comeback jokes between Fred Sanford, Esther Martin, Pam or George Jefferson and Wheezy?”
Shannon Sharpe: “Wheezy. The best. It’s got to be Esther.”
