Michael Newman
Welcome to the college football bros. I'm Michael Newman.
Ryan Newman
And I'm Ryan Newman.
Michael Newman
Trey is out this week. He is visiting Timmy Chang in Hawaii. But. But yeah, the yearly thing filling in. So we're in this episode. Well, I guess in a couple weeks, maybe next week. Who knows. I haven't figured it out yet but we're going to be ranking all of the quarterbacks in the power four and then we'll rank the top 15 quarterbacks in the country. But before we get to that, we wanted to give some love to the the other positions. So we've got the 15 best non quarterback transfers for the 2026 season. And yeah, we'll do this via draft. Ryan, you have the first pick which is kind of interesting. It's wide open.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, it really is. There's no like clear and obvious number one. So I'm going to take. I'll go. Cam Coleman, wide receiver.
Michael Newman
Okay.
Ryan Newman
Going from Auburn to Texas, I mean the Longhorns, you know they lost a few playmakers on the outside, so they were kind of in need of some replenishing of talent. And Coleman's just, I mean, he's a great get. He had 700 over 700 yards last year on 56 catches, five touchdowns. Also had eight TDs his freshman year. So 13 TDs in two years. The guy knows how to find the end zone pretty good when you're playing freshman and sophomore in the sec, making that big of an impact. And the team around him obviously wasn't all that great to getting him the ball. So put him with Arch Manning, who should be, you know, improved, even better, and a lot of talent otherwise around him all over. So I would imagine he's going to be one of their top two leading receivers, maybe the leading receiver and definitely has potential for 1,000 yards and it's a huge impact.
Michael Newman
Yeah, you would think that the number one pick in this draft would have had more production at his previous stop. But like you said, with the quarterback play struggling to get him the ball, that's a huge factor. Like if you just look at the percentage of yards of receiving yards that he accounted for this past year, it was 30% of Auburn's receiving yards. That's about the same as Malky Tony did at Miami, about the same as Makai Lemon did at usc. So he might not even really need to get much better. He just be in a better offense and the numbers will go up.
Ryan Newman
Exactly, exactly. With his. There's a reason he's going to have, he's going to have some opportunities there at Texas. They're going to get him, get him some looks deep and he's good.
Michael Newman
Yeah, there's a reason he was commanding. I mean, they were huge dollar figures.
Ryan Newman
Well, he was a recruit and I mean he was supposed to be super, super good the last couple years. It just his teammates kind of, you could tell, just was held in him back. So good move for him, obviously.
Michael Newman
Okay, I've got the second pick here. Give me defensive end and there's a lot of choices you can make.
Ryan Newman
Oh, yeah, I know.
Michael Newman
Give me John Henry Daly.
Ryan Newman
Oh, wow. Yeah.
Michael Newman
Started his career at byu, transferred to Utah and is now transferring to Michigan. Just came out of nowhere last season, had a massive year. He's the reason I like him. He's just the most productive pass rusher in the portal. 17 and a half tackles for loss, 11 and a half sacks. He was first team all big 12. So I get that he's taken a little bit of a step up in class here. Going from the Big 12 to the Big 10, but it's not like he was playing against.
Ryan Newman
He was playing on byu and, yeah, he's, you know, playing good squads.
Michael Newman
Yeah, I think he's pretty proven. And Michigan's defense struggled last year by their standards, I would think with J. Hill coming in his. Well, actually, I don't. I guess he probably played for J. Hill when he was at BYU for maybe a year or two. But, yeah, with J. Hill coming in and talent like John Henry Daly, you'd think that they're going to bounce back.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, I would agree. Okay, so pick number three. That one's a little off the radar. I mean, he was in my top 15, but he would have been down, like, about 15, so didn't lose anybody.
Michael Newman
But I like the production.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, it's. That's. You can't go wrong with him. I mean, he's going to be an impactful defensive line player, so that's. That's nice to have. Okay, I'm going to go, oh, this is tough. Oh, I'm going to take a defensive end here as well. Former Nebraska started his career off at Nebraska. Prince, Will, Uman, Miellen. He went from Nebraska to Ole Miss. Now he's going to LSU following Lane. And, you know, I was really mad when. And it seemed kind of under the radar when he transferred away from Nebraska, like, after his freshman year. It didn't seem like a whole lot of people were paying too much attention to it, I guess, because he didn't really start. But, like, when he got on the field at freshman year, he was one of the few defensive ends that Nebraska, like, ever seems to get that can actually move. Like, you could tell. Like, his feet aren't stuck in mud. It's like, oh, wait, he actually went and sacked the quarterback. Like, he ran like he had some speed to him. Like he put a hit on a guy. And it just. We don't do that as a defensive. We got Pierre Allens who can barely move and just guys that are just walking.
Michael Newman
It's.
Ryan Newman
You know what I'm talking about. Like, guys that are just like, yeah, you can't ratch the quarterback. You can't.
Michael Newman
Or we got, you know, the T. Rex arm guys and, oh, yeah, Cam Meredith.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, man, it's been brutal, so. But you could tell he had. He had it in him. He had that extra, like, gear and not many people have. And so, yeah, that was a big loss for Nebraska for. And I was not happy with it. But, you know, he crushed it in the SEC. He had 45 tackles and nine sacks last year. Ole Miss, just a huge season. Awesome player. Huge, huge get for Lane and he's got a couple of defensive ends that he's. He's going to be pairing up now, so. But yeah, Prince will is definitely a big get for lsu.
Michael Newman
Yep. Okay. I'm sticking with defensive end.
Ryan Newman
We'll.
Michael Newman
Wow. They're. They're all near the top of the list, so I know who you're. Makes sense that you know who I'm going to pick. Yeah, there's really only one left that you could pick. Damon Wilson going from. Well, he started his career at Georgia, was there for a couple years, then was at Missouri last season. Now he's on to Miami and part of the reason I'm taking him so high here is we've seen what Corey Heatherman can do with really good edge rushers. Of course last year Ruben Bane and Akeem Mezador just having monster years. Damon Wilson coming off the. The best year of his career at Missouri had nine sacks of course against an SEC schedule. Now he's moving down in class a little bit to the ACC on a very talented defensive line. Some great defensive tackles that he's going to be playing with. So it's just seems like he should have a big year. Yeah.
Ryan Newman
Yeah. I mean he's not really. He could work on his all around game be it a little better against the run and because he didn't have that many tackles, he was really just a sacker. But like, I mean that's all he's really going to need to do though at Miami. I mean like they don't really need him to be all that stout runner. They got some, some other guys. So. Yeah, that's a good pick. He's, he's. You know, I may have me just reloading here. Okay, so we're on pick five. I'm going to go away from the DNS, staying on the lines. I'm going to go to the offensive line. I'm going to go left tackle.
Michael Newman
Two guys, Jordan Seaton.
Ryan Newman
Okay, Jordan Seaton. I'm going the Colorado, going to. He started his career at Colorado, now he's at lsu. I'm another LSU guy for me. But yeah, just massive for Kiffin. I mean it gives lsu. I mean they've struggled on the line the last couple of seasons. It has not been all that great and even when expectations were supposed to be there, they just didn't quite perform to it. So getting a guy like Seaton who seems to be all bought into. I mean he Looks great. All reports are that he's doing well. So, I mean, if he's on his game, he's like a potential first round type talent at tackle. There's, you know, a lot of folks see that on the draft boards, first or second round. So if he can live up to that, even just like third round, whatever, huge for LSU to get that to protect Sam Levitt's blind side and just impactful piece for them.
Michael Newman
Yeah, he allowed zero quarterback hits last year, so he was just elite in pass protection. His freshman year he allowed three sacks, which doesn't sound incredible for an elite offensive tackle, but with Shadour Sanders, that was incredible because that guy took a sack every other play.
Ryan Newman
They had like 50 sacks that year.
Michael Newman
Yeah.
Ryan Newman
If he only gave up three, it's
Michael Newman
like, all right, not bad.
Ryan Newman
No, not too horrible. Yeah, he's. He's good.
Michael Newman
Let's see. Here I am, I'm going to stick on the offensive line. I'm going with another offensive tackle who I had just ahead of Jordan Seaton. Just thought he was at this point a little bit more proven. If, even if maybe he doesn't have. I mean, he still got a lot of upside too, but maybe not quite as much as Jordan Seaton. Jacarius peak, going from NC State to South Carolina, he was the sixth highest graded tackle in the ACC last year on Pro Football Focus, third highest in 2024. And he's allowed four sacks in three seasons of playing Francis State, which is obviously great. And he's going to a team that had a terrible offensive line, so they really need him. He's going to make a big impact. Apparently he suffered a knee injury in like a three on three basketball tournament that South Carolina has every year in the off season. But it's not supposed to be serious. They said he's supposed to be ready for the season. I didn't. Which I assume means he didn't have surgery. So I'll just take Shane Beamer's word for it that I mean, he doesn't. You wouldn't. I know he's going to be in a new system, but he has so much experience that I wouldn't worry too much if he has to, that he had to miss all of spring.
Ryan Newman
It's not a positive, but you know, still great. Yeah, man. Though you're paying a guy a million bucks probably or so. And yeah, I'm not sure. I'm trotting him out on three. On three hoops.
Michael Newman
I know Beamer said Beamer was defending it, of course, because Your best lineman maybe gets hurt, but. Yeah, he just was talking about the camaraderie. It builds, yada, yada, yada. How we've done this every single year. This is the first guy that's ever gotten hurt. And. Okay. I mean, I don't know how common that sort of thing is, but it is. It is rough when a guy gets hurt.
Ryan Newman
I mean, you can't put him in bubble wrap. I get it.
Michael Newman
But you know, if he got hurt, that feels. You're. You can live with that. But. Well, not that. I mean, you don't want that either, but it's doing an extra cool.
Ryan Newman
It's driven by rubbing basketball thing. Like, it's not even like team driven. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Yeah, like.
Michael Newman
Like football. The football team driven. Yeah.
Ryan Newman
Yeah. It's not even like he just went on his own free time and just did it. It was like. No, we're.
Michael Newman
Yeah, that's basically Shane Beamer did it. He might as well just take.
Ryan Newman
Might as well just stepped on his foot himself.
Michael Newman
Yeah.
Ryan Newman
All right.
Michael Newman
Yours is a little tamer. Yes.
Ryan Newman
Okay. That was since pick six. Right. All right, moving on. Pick seven here. Well, we got my top four out of way, so I'm gonna go with my fifth overall here on the board. But pick six overall. We got. I'm going. Nick Marsh. I'm gonna take.
Michael Newman
Okay.
Ryan Newman
Oh, it's seven. My bad. Yeah, my bad. Seven. Pick seven here. Nick Marsh, he's going from Michigan State, going to Indiana. Wide receiver Omar Cooper, Elijah Surratt, they're gone off to the NFL for. For Indiana. So Indiana needed some. Someone to fill those shoes, and they got a big time talent. Nick Marsh, in two seasons at Michigan State, he had a hundred catches, over 1300 yards, nine touchdowns on a very below average offense. So those are actually some pretty good numbers. And you saw when he played there, he had some big time moments. And honestly, one of those games he had a big game was against Indiana. And Kirsten Eddy saw it up close. He had 12 catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns against the Hoosiers. So kind of makes sense.
Michael Newman
I feel like there is a correlation. I would love. It would be very difficult to study that, but between players that do well against a team and then get transferred to that team because the coaches saw it, it seems to happen.
Ryan Newman
I for sure got to increase the chances. No doubt about it. But Marsh was the clear number one option for Michigan State, and oftentimes he saw a lot of double coverage. And I think he'll get more opportunities in Indiana. Obviously, Signetti's system, I would trust that. A little bit better. And Hoover, Josh Hoover throwing him the ball will be better than what he's been used to. So. Yeah, I mean, should be Josh Hoover's. I would think he might be Hoover's favorite target on the season. Leading receiver for Indiana with a chance to be, you know, one of the best in the Big Ten. You got Jeremiah Smith and some studs, but he Marshall be up there.
Michael Newman
And he did have a little bit of issue with drops there. But Indiana players just don't drop passes. So I just assume Signetti will sprinkle some fairy dust on him and he'll just have blue hands.
Ryan Newman
Well, he's good at those jump balls, those 50, 50 ones. So they can just throw it deep to him and let him go get it. But good move for Marsh, man.
Michael Newman
Yeah, yeah, of course. That is. And it's. I kind of. It probably doesn't matter, but I just sort of like hearing it where he showed up to. I think it was the first spring practice or something like that. Wearing gold cleats. And Signetti just chewed him out, apparently.
Ryan Newman
Oh, that's right. That's right. It's like, boom. All right.
Michael Newman
Rude awakening. Like, this is a different culture here. Boom. Get in line. So that's. That's little stories like that are probably part of the reason why, of course, Indiana has such a great culture. They're so good. Not that you can't wear gold cleats, but you get what I'm saying.
Ryan Newman
But, you know, following a culture and being a part of a group is. I mean, makes a difference.
Michael Newman
Something's. Something's happening there. All right, next pick I am taking linebacker Rasheem Biles. Going from Pittsburgh to Texas. He's just been insanely productive the last two years at Pitt combined in those two seasons, 183 tackles, 31 and a half tackles for loss, 10 sacks, three pick sixes, a fumble six, three forced fumbles and 13 passes defended. So he's just a no doubt producer across the board with some kind of more attention at Texas, more high profile games. Yeah, I think he's. He's got a chance to be an all American.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, those are some pretty impressive numbers that he's put up in a couple. Was it three years or is he. He's got three years.
Michael Newman
He's been there three years. I think he mainly. I think he has one year. Well, with the new.
Ryan Newman
Well, the five thing.
Michael Newman
Yeah, the five role. I don't even know anymore, but Yeah,
Ryan Newman
I don't know what he did his
Michael Newman
freshman year, but I don't think he did either.
Ryan Newman
Either way though. Yeah, that's. I mean he was. Because we've seen Pitt, man, they produce. I mean, they're defenders. Narduzzi's produce some legit defenders in his time there. So if you're getting. I wouldn't be hesitating to. To pull one of their guys and to. If, you know, even if you're Texas.
Michael Newman
Like, hey, he might have. He only had two tackles his freshman year, so it's. He might have red shirted anyway. I don't know.
Ryan Newman
Does that redshirt still count as a red shirt? Even though must. You know, the five or five thing. If you play a five for five isn't even.
Michael Newman
The red shirts are just done. Huh? If that's.
Ryan Newman
Yeah. Right. There is no red shirting. Yeah.
Michael Newman
But I'm just waiting for that to get struck down by the courts, so I don't even care.
Ryan Newman
But the five for five thing, like if you did red shirt, like, but you played three games, you know you did the four game thing. Like let's say Biles played four games his freshman year.
Michael Newman
Uh huh.
Ryan Newman
Does that. Well, I guess it's. That counts as five years anyways. Doesn't matter. Never mind. I just figured that out in my head. That was a rather stupid question. Sorry.
Michael Newman
Okay. You're rusty.
Ryan Newman
Talked myself through it. At least I did that.
Michael Newman
I don't even. I don't. I am not paying as much attention as I should to the little rule changes like that. Because like I said, it just.
Ryan Newman
I know. Yes.
Michael Newman
They always seem to get struck down.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, it's. It's. It's insane. It's insane right now. How did the NCAA ever exert power in the past? Like that's, you know, like it seems like conferences don't really need to listen,
Michael Newman
you know, they must have wanted to listen back in the day. They must.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm saying. Like.
Michael Newman
Because there was no law powered the ncaa.
Ryan Newman
Right.
Michael Newman
And then.
Ryan Newman
Right.
Michael Newman
Like there's no power without the schools giving it to them. So. Yeah.
Ryan Newman
It's kind of weird how it's like. Well, I mean, what. They don't really. It's. It's all messed up, but. All right. Okay. That was pick eight, right. I'm going to pick nine. Pick number nine here. Let's go with. I just took a wide receiver, so I'm gonna go somewhere else. I'm gonna take. Let me go with the defensive back. We haven't had a defensive back yet. I'm gonna take Ty Benefield because I love my, I love me some LSU transfers apparently. Yeah, it's my third one, Boise going to LSU. But I mean he, he's good. This guy's legit. 235 tackles in three seasons, but still, that's really good. A lot of tackles, a lot of production. 107 last year. I mean he was all over the place. He had eight tackle, eight and a half tackles for loss, four passes defended, two picks. Is the MVP of the Mountain west title game. First team all conference player. And for lsu, like, well, for, you know, if you. Usually you're worried about guys going up in class, but he has the size, he has the physical tools and he's shown he has the production. Seems like an obvious fit here for lsu And Blake Baker and just a great safety that they're going to have. And he kind of play all over. He's pretty. A versatile defender. He can play up further in the box. Is over 205 pounds and six three. So some pieces to work with for Baker.
Michael Newman
Yeah, they got a lot of talent. Okay, I'm also going to take a safety here. Give me Coy Parich. Going from Minnesota to Oregon, it's. They're just doing it again. Last year they took Dylan Thienaman after two seasons at Purdue and turned him into a first round NFL draft pick. Now they're trying to do the same thing coming from Minnesota. He, he was first team all Big Ten as a freshman, second team all Big Ten last year. He also in his career there returned kicks and punts, even played a little bit of offense here and there. So he's just a very good athlete. And Oregon is just, they're elite at picking just. They don't take a ton of guys in the portal usually, but they just take really, really good ones that fit perfectly. Excuse me. And they, and they develop them.
Ryan Newman
They sure do. Yeah. That's a good one. I mean he's going to be good. I mean they already have like an all American at every level before him. You know, before you transfer there and now you add him and it's just like.
Michael Newman
I mean, yeah, they're, they had some young pieces in the secondary last year that. Yeah, I mean he was.
Ryan Newman
They might have the number one defense. They're. They're. They're going to be freaking good. Okay. Yeah. Good pick. That was pick, by the way. What? 10.
Michael Newman
It reminded me you talking about Oregon and you had brought up Prince Will, Uman Mellon before It's so frustrating when guys transfer away and become elite, and you're just thinking, why weren't they that way? Or why didn't our coaching staff get that out of them when they were here? Because with Oregon, they've got Bear Alexander, who. It's a little bit of a different situation because there was like a behavioral element there. But it was kind of similar, though. When he played at ufc, I was like, I mean, he's playing pretty well, but then he goes to Oregon. Now he's like a potential all American.
Ryan Newman
I mean, we're definitely used to that. I mean, you know, it depends what school you are. But Nebraska's not the. Usually the one where it's the vice versa, where if we just all of a sudden produce great talent, they usually do well. Like Wandale, remember? Like, it's like, oh, God, Adrian Martinez goes to K State, and all of a sudden he does really, really, really well. It's just. Ah, okay, maybe I said one too many.
Michael Newman
I don't know about Adrian. I don't know if I accept that one.
Ryan Newman
He did. He did.
Michael Newman
Well, he did. He had. You're right. Let me. Let me go pull up Adrian Martinez.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, yeah. I mean, better than he did at Nebraska. Like, you know, I'm trying to think of. Yeah, who else for Nebraska just went and killed it Otherwise, like, Luke McCaffrey crushed it elsewhere, but he just wouldn't accept playing receiver. He should have played receiver right from the start.
Michael Newman
But I don't know, man. I don't know about Adrian. When he was at.
Ryan Newman
His stats weren't all amazing, but whatever. Show me what were tone. Tell us.
Michael Newman
Okay, so passing stats. I mean, he didn't throw a ton, but he was. I mean, he had 1200 yards, six touchdowns, one pick, 6.9 yards per pass attempt. His passer rating, for what it's worth, was lower than most of his years at Nebraska as a runner. 627 rushing yards, 5.6 yards per carry, 10 touchdowns. I don't know. Like, it. It doesn't look that different than.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, he got hurt. What he was talking towards the end, but fair enough. Fair enough. Okay, maybe Edwin was not the best choice. He had a better record that case. State. Yeah.
Michael Newman
Yeah. Wins.
Ryan Newman
Were.
Michael Newman
Were there wins Help.
Ryan Newman
Wins help. Fair enough. But your point is well taken. All right. What. What pick was you picked? Perritz. Right? That was your last pick.
Michael Newman
Would have been pick.
Ryan Newman
Was he eight? Must. One, two, three.
Michael Newman
No, I think that was pick ten, I think.
Ryan Newman
Oh, yeah, you're right. All right. So moving on to 11. Okay, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go. Another receiver. We'll take Isaiah Horton. He started his career at night.
Michael Newman
All right.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, I like Horton. I think he's going to do pretty well in the situation that he's in. Horton start his career at Miami, then to Bama. Now he's going to Texas A and M at Alabama last year at over 500 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. So, you know, at 6 foot 4, he's really good at, you know, competing for those one on one balls. Hence why he had those eight touchdowns. And you know, Texas A and M, they already have, they already have Mario Craver at receiver, but he's a smaller, quick kind of guy. That's. I mean he's really good. But you know, they needed somebody else to kind of complement him. And to me, Horton was like just a perfect fit. I mean somebody that could take the top off the defense and just throw it up to him way deep. He's got good speed, so really good compliment with, with those two guys. They needed somebody to replace Casey Concepcion who was kind of more like actually Craver. But still, Marcel Reed's gonna really like having Horton to throw to at least a good benefit. Somebody to throw it up to deep. When we were watching A and M last year, they did kind of miss like that a lot of that red zone stuff. They had Nate Borkucher, the tight end who they kind of tried to throw to down layer, but he's not this guy. I mean, Horton's just way better at doing it. So they kind of were missing that big play guy. Horton fits that mold. I think it's gonna help Reed out and he can have a big year.

Are all batteries the same? That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with power boost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell. Let's see, I am going to take defensive tackle Mateen Ibiroba, started his career at Georgetown, was at wake the last two years, now going to Texas Tech. And yeah, he just broke out last year he generated pressures on 11% of his pass rush snaps, which was fifth in the Power Four among defensive tackles. Now you're putting him next to A.J. holmes, who might be the best defensive tackle in the country this season. So he's not going to be facing a bunch of double teams I wouldn't think. And right now you just trust the way Texas Tech is going to develop defensive linemen that go there. So. And he doesn't even need to get developed. He's already played a lot of football. He was of course very good at Georgetown, albeit at an FCS level. And we saw he was a DN though there.
Ryan Newman
Like he's grown into detail now. It's.
Michael Newman
It's kind of 3, 300 pounds. Yeah, I mean that's definitely not a start.
Ryan Newman
A D end as G town at Georgetown. It's weird how he's. You never know. But that's. Yeah, that's. I mean Texas Tech, they just. Their D lines just. God, I'm so jealous.
Michael Newman
You cut out that. You've cut out a couple times. But I'm assuming that the listeners hear it the way these things get recorded. But yeah, I'm not going to respond because I don't know what you just said.
Ryan Newman
It's okay. I didn't watch 2 anyways. Some stupid comment. All right, all right. That was pick 12, so I'm going to go pick 13. And I'm going to go right next to you. I'm taking Trey White, SDSU to Texas Tech.
Michael Newman
Ooh. Okay. I like it.
Ryan Newman
Yep. Off the edge. You know, Texas Tech did have some big shoes to fill. They lost three. Three lineman d linemen to the NFL draft who are all drafted in the top 70 picks. So I. They're definitely missing some guys.
Michael Newman
Why didn't this guy go to Nebraska?
Ryan Newman
I. Money.
Michael Newman
Yeah. Fair.
Ryan Newman
You know, I wish you did. This guy was development. Well, both go to Texas Tech for both.
Michael Newman
Yeah, No, I know. That's what I'm saying. Yeah.
Ryan Newman
Money and development. Sorry. He made the right choice. Can't blame the guy.
Michael Newman
The reason I say that is Nebraska got SDSU's defensive coordinator. I don't know if you realize that, Ryan.
Ryan Newman
Yeah. And we got their safety and linebacker, but we just missed out on this guy who I'd probably want more than anybody on their team, but. Oh, well. Yeah, Trey White, he's gonna be really good off the edge. He has 19 and a half sacks the last two years. 107 tackles too. So it's not like he's a one trick pony. He's. He makes plays against the run and finds ways to get to the ball no matter if it's not in the quarterback's hands. So something you want to see. First team, Mountain west, making plays all over the place. This is just. He's going to have the freedom with all those. That talent. Just like last year with Texas Tech. I mean, they had those transfers that David Bailey came in and just started crushing it because he had so much talent around him. I think Romello was it. Romello height, same deal tray. White's going to be the same old. He's. He's been productive two years in a row at pretty high level ball. Mountain west. He's not going to be overwhelmed. You know, it's the Big 12. He's going to crush it and have an awesome year and probably be drafted in the first three rounds at least, you know, something like that.
Michael Newman
Okay, so is this number 14?
Ryan Newman
I think 14.
Michael Newman
Okay. This is if it feels like a sure thing and also a risk, which doesn't make any sense, but I'm going. Running back Caleb Hawkins going from North Texas to Oklahoma State.
Ryan Newman
Yeah.
Michael Newman
So it feels like a sure thing because he's following his head coach, Eric Morris. He was incredibly productive last year. 1400 yards, 25 touchdowns on 6.2 yards per carry at North Texas. He's yes, stepping up in class from the American to the Big 12. Decent sized jump, but at least he's not going to the Big Ten or SEC Plus. I just. It's just the fact that he's already with a coach that trusts him, knows how to use him, is committed to him. I think that limits the potential that he somehow ends up a bust like Makai Hughes did at going from Tulane to Oregon. I always bring up that comparison, but I think Cale Pawkins is just legit. He was just a freshman last year, so he could get better.
Ryan Newman
It's true. Yeah, I like that one. I considered putting him there, but. Okay, pick 15. Let's see. I am going to go. I'm between a couple of running backs here and I'll just tell them I'm between Justice Haynes and Relique Brown. And I'm.
Michael Newman
It's just tough at Texas because. Is it going to be Relik Brown or Hollywood Smothers?
Ryan Newman
I know it is a challenge, but probably both. It's definitely going to be both. But I like Raleigh Browning, man, when he was, you know, we all saw a lot of games from him at ASU last year and he was. He was awesome. I know he started his career at USC and it's actually that last year was his fourth year at college. Like, he's been around the block, but it was just his first real, like, impactful season, just randomly. But I mean, he had opened it close to 1200 yards and he even had like 34 catches.
Michael Newman
So, yeah, he was. USC turned him into a receiver. We turned him into a wide receiver at one point because we were just so loaded at running back. This is a guy that again, leaves USC and turns out great. But I don't. It doesn't make me mad because we've been loaded at running back.
Ryan Newman
So it's skill position ain't your issue. Yeah, yeah, running back or wide receiver, you guys are fine. No, but I think with his versatility, I think he's going to be an impactful player for Texas. Just to be able to catch the ball to the backfield as well as he does, it's going to get to give Texas a little bit of an extra look that they didn't have. So, I mean, I think Laurie Lee Brown's, with his playmaking, it's going to make a big impact.
Michael Newman
Okay, well, we can probably extend this draft because I got a few more. I got a few more. Let's just keep going a few more. Then my next pick, safety Terry Moore, going from Duke to Ohio State. And as a freshman at Duke, he played running back, switched over to Safety the year after that and went on to become one of the best in the country. Number two graded safety according to Pro Football Pro football focus in 2024 filled the stat sheet. 71 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four picks, six passes defended, two force fumbles. But in the bowl game that year tore his ACL and had to sit out all of 2025. Which I think is a big reason why Duke's defense completely fell apart last year. At least part of the reason. But yeah, now he's going to Ohio State. We'll the only question is can he return to his pre injury form which fair. But I think oftentimes guys can. It's not like an ACL is a death sentence. So if he's as good as he was a couple of years ago, should be great.
Ryan Newman
All right, you cut out for me this time.
Michael Newman
So now we've been both cutting out. So we'll.
Ryan Newman
Sorry.
Michael Newman
I think everybody here, I think Riverside hears it though because it records locally. So hope. I think I do too.
Ryan Newman
But if there's any weird transitions, just know we're not that awkward. Yeah, well, maybe. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Pick 17.
Michael Newman
I'm gonna go.
Ryan Newman
Reed Harris, wide receiver, he's going from BC to Arizona State who needed some replenishing of talent. Drum Tyson's gone. But the unique thing about Reed Harris, I mean obviously he's a productive player but just his yards per catch is insane. Over. He's played 29 games, he's got 57 catches. So it's not like his tiny sample size. He's averaging 20.4 yards per catch.
Michael Newman
I mean that's, that's a Charlie Becker numbers. Yeah, yeah.
Ryan Newman
That's crazy for the amount of catches that he has. Nine touchdowns. You know, playing for B.C. you're not going to score a lot of touchdowns. But for asu, you know, this is a good transfer for him to get a little bit more publicity I think out of it and you know, going to a good system with Kenny Dillingham. I think it's going to work out well for him and he's going to put up some big numbers and maybe not over 20 yards per catch good. But yeah, I mean he's got some big playability that is going to be much needed for asu.
Michael Newman
They also. ASU also added a Marion Miller from Colorado who had. They did I think like 19 yards per catch last year. So yeah, they got some big play guys.
Ryan Newman
I almost went with him like in my top because he, he's. Yeah, he's a good player too. Obviously.
Michael Newman
Well, hopefully. What is it? Cutter Bowley, I think is supposed to be their quarterback this year. Hopefully.
Ryan Newman
He's, I don't even know, legit.
Michael Newman
Yeah. This transfer from Kentucky I think is,
Ryan Newman
I think the big favorite sign.
Michael Newman
Well, no, but I. Little bit of faith in Dillingham.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, yeah, I have faith in Dillingham. He's. He's usually puts good offenses out there.
Michael Newman
Okay, next pick for me, defensive side of the ball. Give me linebacker Austin Romain going from K State to Texas tech. He was second team all big 12 each of the past two seasons. Let's see, 20, 24, 96 tackles, 7 tackles for loss. And then last year was on pace for about 95 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, but got hurt I think nine games into the season. Well, no, he didn't. He was playing either much or all this season with a club on his hand and ended up just having surgery, so didn't play the last few games. But yeah, he's just a proven, high quality Big 12 linebacker. Put him on a Texas, very talented Texas Tech defense and probably be first. 12. Yeah, yeah.
Ryan Newman
I mean, we talked about that D line already in front of him and he's going to be free to roam. Romaine's going to roam.
Michael Newman
Yeah, let us laugh at that joke.
Ryan Newman
That was better than mine.
Michael Newman
Yeah, there you go.
Ryan Newman
All right, next pick. I think it's 17, 19.
Michael Newman
I think we're 19, but I think 19. Maybe we'll go to 20. We'll stop at 20.
Ryan Newman
All right, I'll throw it. I got to go. Justice Haynes at this point, you know.
Michael Newman
Yeah, I got to get him right now too.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, you got, you know, start his career at Bama, then Michigan last year. Georgia Tech coming up. He started last year really well, as we know. I mean, he was.
Michael Newman
Yeah, you know, I mean, Heisman pace for a monster season. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he wasn't.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, he was in the Heisman running at the beginning of the year and you were kind of. There were some other Big Ten running backs that were doing really well too. Like Emmett Johnson was doing really well, but he was leading the pack.
Michael Newman
And USC's running back, Waymo Waymond Jordan.
Ryan Newman
Yes, yes, there was good backs last year. Second, but yeah, I mean, he averaged over 120 yards per game on 7.1 yards per carry. So he was. He only got to play seven games before he went out. But I mean, great get for Georgia Tech here. I mean, big time player to. To add for them.
Michael Newman
I mean, replace Jamal Haynes with Justice Haynes, Jay Haynes. They didn't Get a Haynes at quarterback to replace Haynes King, but Mendoza will have to do.
Ryan Newman
What's Mendoza?
Michael Newman
Alberto. Yes.
Ryan Newman
Cool name.
Michael Newman
Well, it's good. Good lineage. Yeah. Okay, last pick then. We can do honorable mentions if you've still got some guys. But give me defensive tackle Francis Brew. Another pit transfer, unfortunately for.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, that's a. That's a tough hit for Narduzzi.
Michael Newman
For Narduzzi. Thank you. Yeah. Going from Pitt to Notre Dame, 36 tackles, seven tackles for loss. As a sophomore last year, he. And he was on Bruce Feldman's freaks list. He's six 1, 280 pounds, but he squats 685 pounds, benches 475 pounds, has a 33 inch vertical. So you just gotta think in a system that churns out great defensive players.
Ryan Newman
He'll take benches as much as me.
Michael Newman
Wow. Whoa. That's. How much you weigh? 475.
Ryan Newman
Nice. A little behind me. How much I bench.
Michael Newman
Are you chewing on something right now? Yeah. Oh, I mean, you were just chewing right into the mic. I was like, we're almost done here, man. Can you. Can you chill?
Ryan Newman
Hold it. Couldn't hold it. I'm hungry. I was coaching tonight. I didn't eat dinner yet. I'm hungry, man.
Michael Newman
Yeah, it's like, oh, you know what? You should drive through raising Cane's. Doesn't that sound good?
Ryan Newman
It does, but I have some food I need to cook, otherwise I just waste it. I got, you know, like I got. When you live by yourself, it's like you order, you get like one pound of meat, you know, just. But it's. I gotta use it multiple times in a row, else it's bad. I just waste it. Yeah. So. Gotta plan that. So, yeah, I gotta. I think I'm gonna be making some. A third or fourth night in a row of spaghetti. There you go. It's good, man. It's good stuff. Rao's sauce. Anybody ever use Rao's?
Michael Newman
I don't know. I don't know that. I might.
Ryan Newman
Probably would recognize shout outs if you use Rouse.
Michael Newman
How do you spell it?
Ryan Newman
Rao, I believe it's kind of like a. More. It's better than Ragu. Like, it's not like three dollar rag.
Michael Newman
Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, that's. I.
Ryan Newman
It's good stuff.
Michael Newman
I know that.
Ryan Newman
Yeah.
Michael Newman
I just.
Ryan Newman
I tried to go back to Ragu after I tried Rouse for like once or twice. Oh, Ragu is just disgusting.
Michael Newman
Yeah.
Ryan Newman
It's like, well, how did I ever think this was good? It's low quality. I'm Sorry, everybody that uses raccoon. But, you know, that's okay. They get it.
Michael Newman
I'm just thinking about raising canes now because one of our patrons, ETH posted a picture over the last weekend I think of just. It was just an overhead shot of four or five raising canes meals, and it just. It was. I don't know. Maybe I was just hungry at the time I saw it, but I saw it and just gasped. I was like, oh, my God, that looks so freaking good.
Ryan Newman
Good.
Michael Newman
I wish I was hungry right now because I would want to go. I would want to go there right now.
Ryan Newman
Well, are you. Do you have to record or edit podcast tonight?
Michael Newman
No, I just. I'm not. I'm not hungry right now, so. So I can't.
Ryan Newman
I'm not gonna edit the podcast. You might go later after you're. While you're recording.
Michael Newman
I'm done for the night.
Ryan Newman
Oh. It's off season.
Michael Newman
Maybe sometime this weekend we can get it.
Ryan Newman
Sure.
Michael Newman
Or. Oh, wow. Or just me. Fine. You don't have to go.
Ryan Newman
Just kidding. Just kidding. Just kidding. I haven't tried Mike's red tacos yet. We need to go there.
Michael Newman
I. I went there once, but I'd like to give it another shot. Supposed to be really good. I just will order something different. It was fine, but.
Ryan Newman
What'd you get?
Michael Newman
I want to get something. I think I got a. I don't even remember. I think I got a burrito, and it was just. You know what it was? It was too heavy. Maybe it was just. I wasn't in the mood for that that night. But. But I think next time I would get a taco or something.
Ryan Newman
Yeah. When I go to, like, Chipotle or something, I kind of ask them to, like, not put so much stuff in it with the rice.
Michael Newman
I always. You always hear people complaining that of the portion sizes at Chipotle, where they're like. Oh, they.
Ryan Newman
Yeah.
Michael Newman
Are weak with the meat when they serve it out. I'm. I'm like you. I'm hoping for them to give, like, yeah, 80% pigs, man. Like. Well, I mean, I don't go that far.
Ryan Newman
I never finish a Chipotle burrito. Like, I can.
Michael Newman
Okay. But. But you also get chips with it.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, I usually do that. Yeah.
Michael Newman
So come on. You can't talk well.
Ryan Newman
But, like, I don't even come close.
Michael Newman
Like, yeah.
Ryan Newman
Even without the chips, I ain't finishing the whole burrito. It's just too much.
Michael Newman
I finish the burrito pretty much every time.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, well, I've turned into a Sissy now. I don't, I don't eat, I don't eat any.
Michael Newman
Do you have any honorable mentions for the non quarterback transfers?
Ryan Newman
Dylan Raiola. Oh, he's a quarterback. Dang.
Michael Newman
Doesn't count. Doesn't count. How about Cooper Barkate? I was surprised when you said some of the receivers you picked over Barquette. Not because of yeah he's talent or anything but just I know you like him so he's, he's going of course from Duke to Miami. He was put up huge numbers with Mensa. You gotta think he's a clear number.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, Tony going with Mensa so he's familiar. So that's gonna help you're. No, that's a good one. I probably, you know he probably should have been in there to be honest. That was. He'll have a good one.
Michael Newman
Terrell Anderson, wide receiver going from NC State to usc. I just think Tanook Hines is the only clear cut big time receiver at USC this year. There's plenty of talent and other guys that could break out but Terrell Anderson just makes sense as he's clearly the best chance to be the number two guy. I mean potentially he could be the number one guy. He was a pretty big time transfer so I think he'll have a big year.
Ryan Newman
Probably Amaris Williams going from Auburn to Georgia, I mean he didn't have huge statistics. He's still a young guy. But I mean if Georgia wants you and is offering you, I'm sure you're going to be an impactful player because after they've seen you for a couple years in college, you ain't going there unless you're, you're playing and you're making an impact. So that's, he should be pretty darn good. I wish I could throw in a
Michael Newman
racist guy out who Melvin Cianni, offensive tackle going from Wake forest to Texas. Zero sacks allowed all of last year and like 500 pass blocking snaps.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, that's a good one.
Michael Newman
Wyatt Young, north so along with with the quarterback Drew Messemaker and the running back Caleb Hawkins, top receiver Wyatt Young going to Oklahoma State.
Ryan Newman
Toby Osunsami, the Kansas State edge player getting transferred to. I mean Indiana wants you.
Michael Newman
Yeah.
Ryan Newman
All of a sudden that you're probably going to be pretty good. If Indiana is going after you're like oh wait, he should be pretty good. He should be a good player and he is, he's a good player. So he'll, he'll, he'll be a play
Michael Newman
a big role for Indiana cornerback Johntez Williams this One, I definitely didn't want to put him in the top 15, but worth bringing up. Yeah. Going from Iowa State to usc. He was. He's great at Iowa State, but he. I think it was an ACL early last year, so we'll see if he's back to 100%. But if he is, then if he plays like he did the last couple years, then he's going to be probably our best defensive player.
Ryan Newman
DeAndre Moore, wide receiver going from Texas to Colorado, as we mentioned, they lost a Marion Miller, so they're looking for people there. So DeAndre, I mean, he's fast players. Deion should get some use out of him.
Michael Newman
That's all I got.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, I mean, there's always guys, but QBs are the main ones.
Michael Newman
But yeah, I have John Henry. John Henry Daly at number two QB rankings. I saw that. Who was it? I think the COVID 3 podcast did their quarterback rankings last week or something. And I don't even. I don't want to look at it because I don't want to know. Just overall quarterback rankings, not just transfer. But yeah, I don't even want to look at it. Any of those lists because it'll seep into your. I just don't want it to influence me. But once I make my list, then you can bet I'm looking at those and judging, not judging. I'm just kidding. Or am I? I don't know.
Ryan Newman
It's fair to judge the list.
Michael Newman
Well, with. With quarterbacks, I don't feel. For some reason, I feel stronger in my opinions. With coaches, I feel more judgy when it comes to that. There, There were some crazy rankings. I'm trying to remember. Yeah, things like someone had jed fish 50th or something like that. There was just little things like that where I'm like, okay, you're just wrong. I'm sorry. It's not even a. Yeah, no. With quarterbacks it's a little more. There's not as. Not as long of resumes in college football, so it's hard to rank.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, no, that's true. It's easier to rank coaches.
Michael Newman
Who's the best quarterback in college football? Ryan, let's see. Who are our options here? We got.
Ryan Newman
There's a lot of Julian saying.
Michael Newman
Julian saying. Dante Moore, you got Darian Mensah. Darian Mensah.
Ryan Newman
Arch Manning Schmanning. Who's going to be Jaden Miava, Maybe Josh Hoover for Indiana. Potentially Trinidad.
Michael Newman
Chambliss.
Ryan Newman
CJ Carinidad, Chamba CJCar. Yeah, maybe Underwood has a Good year for Michigan.
Michael Newman
That's maybe that's.
Ryan Newman
That's a little aggressive, but he's got talent.
Michael Newman
Sam Levick bounced back at underling Kiffin at lcu.
Ryan Newman
Yeah.
Michael Newman
So we just named everybody, I think. Well, I don't. Do I save it for the QB rankings? I'll just say right now because I reserve the right to change right now. Ooh, man, that's tough. I'm leaning towards. I'm leaning towards CJ Carr, I think,
Ryan Newman
as the best in the country.
Michael Newman
As the best. But I would consider Trinidad. Yeah, I would consider. You know, I guess I would consider Dante Moore. I don't know. I would consider Jade. I'm probably going to be higher on Jade myava than I'm probably go homer there.
Ryan Newman
Yeah, I don't see him as the best in the country. I mean, he's good.
Michael Newman
I know I'm not going to have him best in the country, but like I probably. Well, I don't know. I'm going too far here. I got to save it. I got to save it.
Ryan Newman
Yeah. I might say Saiyan at this point.
Michael Newman
Okay.
Ryan Newman
I mean, I know he's got so much talent to work with, but that really protects me from being super wrong.
Michael Newman
Yeah. He's going to have 79% completions and big numbers and. Yeah.
Ryan Newman
So, you know, I can't go too wrong with him.
Michael Newman
Well, he's good. He's our trash schedule, so. Yeah. Julian, Sam's race from Carlsbad.
Ryan Newman
Yeah. Yeah.
Michael Newman
There you go. Okay. Anyway, thanks for filling in Ryan. We'll see. Maybe you'll be back next week. I don't know if Trey when his vacation ends, but we'll see. Anyway, thanks for checking out this episode of the College Football Bros. And we'll talk to you next week.
