All right, forget everything we said last week about Brendan Sorsby because he is now no longer college football's problem. He and Texas Tech have mutually agreed to part ways. Of course, I'm sure everyone listening already knows that he's planning to enter the NFL supplemental draft. And this comes after the Big 12 filed a lawsuit in federal court basically asking for a declaration that they would be able to punish Texas Tech via fines, withholding revenue, conference championship ban, all that if, if the Red Raiders chose to play. Brendan Sorsby and Texas Tech had previously talked a big, a big game that they had vowed to fight. And of course, prior to this filing, the Texas Attorney general put out a warning to the Big 12 not to pursue punishment. But it seems like after this filing and I'm sure some discussions behind the scenes, Texas Tech didn't want the smoke. They're like, all right, this, this whole thing just isn't worth it. So here we are. What are your thoughts, Trey?

Yeah, I mean it's just crazy how it's ping ponged back and forth. The one thing is, yeah, they, they were up against it. There was just going to be, it was going to be one thing after another to prevent him to play and it would have just gotten ugly. The only thing for me is I didn't, I don't think he should have played anyways. But man, would it have been fun the show that it would have been that week three when he came back like just the hoopla around it the buzz would have been pretty fun, but you know, this is probably the right thing to do and everyone can just kind of move on and we don't have to deal with like the over the top drama between conferences and teams threatening to sue and not play and law and lawsuits. It's just, it was too messy.

Yeah, I, I also didn't want the messiness of lawsuits and everything dragging on. And I was wrong last week when I said everyone should just move on and let's just. We'll let them play. That's what the, that one judge said. So let's just go with it and, and kind of move on so we don't have this back and forth. But I was wrong there because all it took was the Big 12 saying, no, no, no, we're going to fight this, we're going to do everything we can. And they made that filing and then boom, Texas Tech back down. So that, that is definitely a cleaner outcome of all this. But like you. Well, there were some folks in our discord who were saying that they're, they're happy that this wasn't going to be a story throughout the year, just the Brendan Sorsby craziness. But I, I don't know, I, maybe I'm just a drama whore, but I kind of like you. Other than the litigation aspect of it and the eligibility, him playing and the storyline behind that would have been very fun to watch. But yeah, this is, this is what should have happened in the first place.

Okay, so now for the main topic of the episode. We are going to draft the best quarterback running back receiver trios in college football for the 2026 season. And, and for receiver you can do tight end or receiver. Trey, you have the first pick. Who you taking?

Okay. Kind of boring. I'm going to Ohio State. I am taking the Buckeyes with Julian say and Bo Jackson. Jeremiah Smith, I mean saying returning Heisman finalist led led the nation, 77% completions. Now it's going to be his second year of starting with Ryan Day does have a new offensive coordinator but not, not concerned. Bo Jackson. It's kind of funny. He was actually kind of quiet last year on that team. Almost 1100 yards as a freshman and also had 200 yards receiving. And then you get probably not even arguably probably the best receiver in college football, Jeremiah Smith. So I'll take that trio.

Yeah, they would have been my first pick as well, but a close second for me is Miami. So that'll be my pick. You got Darian Mensah, of course, who's had two great years, one at Tulane as a Redshire freshman, then last year at Duke, took an offense that was one of the worst in the power four. He made them one of the better. And running back, you've got Mark Fletcher, who, of course, he's been great for a while, but that playoff run he had last year was insane. 6.8 yards per carry in their four games in the College Football Playoff. And then receiver Malachi Toney, I think I would have as the second best receiver in the country behind Jeremiah Smith. He led the nation in receptions last year as a true freshman. Only had one drop all season long. I know he had a couple fumbles in the. The playoff, but that wasn't a recurring problem on the season. So. Yeah, it's just. There's no. No weak link there. They're all arguably top five players at their position.

Yeah. Tony Little Joystick. And honestly, with. With Cooper Barkate coming over from Duke also, you would think that, you know, they can't 100% hone in on. On Tony. So.

Kwan Lacy might be the best back coming back. I mean, he's. He's a stud. And receiver is kind of the weak link of this. This trio, but I'm going to go with Deuce Alexander. But I'm just. I'm a little bit of a sucker. I'm still buying into the Ole Miss offense without Lane, just because I think Chambliss can kind of transcend the offensive play caller a little bit. He's just one of those guys that it seems like you can kind of just roll the ball out and he can play. And, And. And you kind of forget now it's going to be a full off season with him as the starter. He wasn't even the starter going into last year, so maybe. Maybe there's some improvement in him. And then I get. Kwon Lacey was a total workhorse. 300 carries last year. And so. But yeah, receiver Deuce Alexander, they lose Stribling and Wallace, but I think Deuce Alexander is next in line to just kind of start pick up the pieces. I mean he had, they used him in the run game. He still did have 700 yards receiving even with Shibling and Wallace. So his role will increase. So I like this trio.

Yeah, I mean Ole Miss to me clearly has the best backfield as far as. As far as quarterback. Running back.

Yeah.

Especially if you're not. Well, I mean Chambliss is arguably the best quarterback in the country but. Well, I'll ask you this. How did you weigh quarterback in this draft? Because I on my big board I didn't want to go just I wanted to underweight quarterback a little bit compared to their actual value because they're also. You'd just be kind of drafting the best quarterbacks. I. I think I probably gave it like 50% weight to the quarterback, 25, 25 to running back and receiver.

That's fair. I think when I was at the top of my board so in general like running back didn't really have too much of an impact for me. But at the top it really did. Like if I like you like Kwan Lacey, Bo Jackson, Mark Fletcher, like that makes a difference to me. And then kind of maybe more as I got down the list, receiver became more important. But. But yeah, I didn't want to make it. I didn't make it a pure quarterback draft. Yeah.

Okay. Fourth pick. I'm surprised that I'm taking this because I've been low ish on March main relative to the hype.

That was who I would have taken.

But yeah, I'm taking Texas because I still think archmanding is probably really, really good. Had a solid season as it was last year and it seems logical that he would take a decent sized step forward this year with a better supporting cast around him because man, they invested in some weapons and running back. Well, they invested in two weapons at running back. You got Relique Brown, the transfer from Arizona State or Hollywood Smothers from NC State. Both of them had. Have had great careers. Last year both of them averaged six yards per carry. Take your pick. I'll go with Hollywood Smothers. I guess I slightly prefer him, but you go either way. And then at wide receiver you've got Cam Coleman and again kind of like Arch Manning in that so far his numbers haven't been amazing. But for. For Coleman two years ago he was a true freshman. So that was a good year for a true freshman. And then this past year had terrible quarterback play. So now. Yeah, exactly. With all that talent he has now in a what should be a great offense, he's could emerge as a one of the best receivers in the country. So.

Yeah, all those guys ceilings go on the other side.

Yeah, exactly. This, I mean Texas has number one upside on this list. If, if the, the, if Arch Manning hits a ceiling and, and Cam Coleman does.

Yeah, no, I, I, I had to. I would have gone there too. All right, here we go.

So we have the exact same pretty 1, 2, 3, 4.

I would have, I don't, I Miami. I wasn't gonna put two.

I don't think you would have put Ole Miss.

I think I would have gone Ole Miss. But it was okay. They were all tight. But, but yeah, same top four. No doubt. Okay. I am gonna go now to Oregon. So I wasn't actually in love last year watching Dante Moore, but I might have been a little too critical. I mean, he still completed over 70% of his passes through 30 touchdowns. But I just think him coming back to college maturing, I think he's going to really blossom this year. Losing Will Stein as offensive coordinator might be interesting, but the natural surrounding talent is going to help him. Jordan Davison, the running back was only a freshman last year, over 100 carries. He's going to be what I think should be a stud running back in the Big Ten.

And then I got, you've got Deer Hill, who was a fellow freshman, averaged 8.7 yards per rush.

So yeah, those are your pick there. They're loaded. And then receiver, you got two guys that are coming off had injury trouble last year, but you got Decoran Moore and Evan Stewart. I'm going with decor and more just a little bit more upside. At this point in his career, he's just a fun weapon. And now as a sophomore, his rapport with more should only grow. And so I like, I like Decorum more. As long as he stays healthy.

Yeah, could have the more to more connection there. You could defend picking four different players there at receiver. Like you mentioned, two of them. You could also say Jeremiah McClellan just because he's the top returning receiver for them, but only had 500 yards. I actually would have gone with the tight end in this case Jamari Johnson, just because with Kenyon Siddiq gone, I feel like his production's going to pick up. And I mean as it was, he had 32 catches for 510 yards last year, so that's as far as tight end. It was a down tight end year last year, so that was pretty, pretty dang good. But yeah, Moore has I guess all that. He was just a true freshman. So he, he, yeah, and he missed time.

Yeah, okay, well, I'm going homer here. Number six.

That was who I would have had.

Okay. Usc. So at quarterback Jaden Maiva, he was awesome last year, led the nation in qbr. He just, he did everything pretty well. He did a great job of avoiding sacks when pressured. He was one of the best in the country at that per pff. He adds value as a runner and designed run plays. His one negative is it puts the ball in harm's way a bit more than you would like. But it's not crazy. It's not, you know, peak Josh Hoover levels. So. And he did. He got better with it. Yeah, he got better with it last season. My Ava did. So he's. And he just made so many just insane throws. So he's a. I think a top five quarterback in the country or at least top 10 running back. I have made it known how much I have an irrational love for Waymond Jordan on this, this podcast. Got hurt midway through last year, but he was second in the Big Ten in rushing yards and at that time had six and a half yards per carry. Or if you prefer, King Miller, the. The walk on, who had almost a thousand yards on 6.2 yards per rush. So can't go wrong there.

But Waymond Jordan was like totally unbiased. Was probably my favorite running back to like physically watch. I homer. Other homer Emmett Johnson was fun to watch, but like the way Wayman Jordan runs was so impressive. It's not like Reggie Bush, but it was like Reggie Bush in a way.

I just continue to be surprised that I, I don't see him on any of these top running backs list, no matter how deep they go. Granted, the injury is a real. Because that's been a concern even like at juco. So. And yet he's coming off ankle surgery, so that is a real probability that he's not going to stay healthy the whole year. But if he does, I just, I just think he'll have a monster year. But then you got wide receiver.

Who are you going with?

I mean, yeah, you're losing Jacoby Lane and Makai Lemon, but to Nook Hines is who I would go with. He was okay, number three guy last year. He was a true freshman and he did not enroll early, so it kind of took him a little bit to get going, but still ended up with 561 yards receiving, which behind those two guys is pretty good.

Exactly.

And more than half of those yards came in the last three games of the season. So he seems like a lock to Be really productive if he stays healthy. And of course, in that bowl game without Lemon and Lane, he put up monster numbers. I think that was a sign of things to come. You could also go with the NC State transfer Terrell Anderson, who was one of the top receivers in the Portal, but Hines I think more proven in the, in the system.

Okay, all right. I'm going a little bold here. I don't think many people would do this. And this is to your point about quarterback not drafted on quarterback. I am going to actually take Tennessee. So.

I'm like, I don't know. I'm drinking the off season Kool Aid on the Vols for some reason. I have no rationale behind this, but I have some faith in Hypo here. It's odd to pick a team in this case where the quarterback isn't even settled. You know, you got George McIntyre or Faison from Brandon, the true freshman, so I get that. But Hypo offenses just produce and then. But what I love about these, this is where I'm weighing the running back and receiver. DeSean Bishop, over a thousand yards on the ground as a sophomore, could be one of the best SEC backs. And then at receiver, you really can't go wrong. You got mainly between Braylon Staley or Mike Matthews. Staley As a freshman 68 reception looked like the best whiteout in the field in most of the games. And then on the other side, Matthews had over 800 yards. And so I just think those two on either side will be great. I, I would lean towards Staley as my, my pick here for the trio, but obviously it's a risk with this quarterback. I don't know, but I'm just. There's some blind faith here in Hypo getting some production out of one of those two.

Yeah, you could have. You could have got them later for sure. I'm. I going to take Indiana. And so you got Josh Hoover, who. So Signetti, of course, with Curtis Rourke and Fernando Mendoza did incredible job with those guys. But those players, their interception rates the year before going to India, Indiana were extremely low. I think they were basically identical to what they did as Hoosiers. So this is kind of a new challenge for Signetti. But even if Hoover throws a few too many picks, he's still a very good quarterback as it is.

And you would expect to jump in

the Indiana, Indiana offense. So I think he's at least top 15 nationally and he's got Heisman finalist upside. If Signetti can work his magic so good at quarterback, running back, you've got Turbo Richard. Transfer from Boston College had over 900 yards from scrimmage, 5.2 yards per rush attempt in a terrible offense. So I think, yeah, again he'll, he'll do better. At Indiana. They also have Kobe Martin, who played really well, mostly in mop up duty last year, but going with Richard. And then at receiver, you could choose Nick Marsh, the transfer from Michigan State, who of course has elite talent. But give me Charlie Becker had 679 yards and four touchdowns last year, which doesn't sound great, but he basically didn't play until the second half of the season and from that point on was one of the best receivers in the country, second in the power four in yards per route run, only behind Jeremiah Smith had 20 yards per catch, zero drops on the season. Like he was just unbelievable. And I know it no longer has Omar Cooper and Elijah Surratt to kind of take the attention, but Nick Marsh is no slouch.

Yeah, I remember in that national title he was catching those back shoulder balls like anywhere in his radius. He just seems to catch.

Yeah, it's. It was like a cheat code by the end of the season.

Yep. Okay, so I think, Well, I guess I already proved it with Tennessee, but I think we're going to have some variance here. It was. It kind of got hard for me to order the rest of these teams. Yeah, I, I'm going to go. It's weird. I, I'm going to go with Notre Dame. C.J. carr, like, so C.J. carr is the prize here I'm getting. So I think he should put up big numbers against the schedule. And even without the schedule factor, he was so good last year in his first year completing like two thirds of his passes over almost nine and a half yards per attempt. And especially given recent track record, it's not like Notre Dame quarterbacks have been totally lighting it up and, but now I admit here they lose two first round running backs, so we'll see the impact of that on Carr and the offense, but we know the offensive line is going to be good. Anias Williams, he might not be Jeremiah Love, but he doesn't have to be. He can still be very productive in that offense. And then, and then I'm going to go with Jordan Faison on the outside. We'll see on, on him on the receiver. Like might not be a total game changer, but second year with Carr over 600 yards last year and I could see him threatening a thousand with just the natural offensive improvement I'm seeing this year with them. And especially since they're probably going to rely on the passing game more so than they did a year ago with the. The 12 duo at running back. So we'll see how the Williams and Faison do. But I might get a what the Heisman front runner right now, C.J. carr.

Yeah, there's, there's only so far that C.J. carr can fall on this list. That was so. I mean I would a couple rounds lower on him, but yeah, he was right in this range for me. But I'm going with a, a big three that there is no weak link. Oklahoma State going to Stillwater. So quarterback Drew Messemaker, of course, so of course this whole big three coming from North Texas. So Drew Messmaker led the nation in passing yards and yards per pass attempt. Caleb Hawkins at running back was fifth in the nation rushing yards, first in rushing touchdowns and then at receiver Wyatt Young, third in the nation in receiving yards and led the country in yards after catching per reception. So they were just all awesome in that North Texas offense. Granted, that's going up against an American schedule now. You're moving up in class to the Big 12. But it's not like these guys were like they were big time transfers. A lot of schools would have wanted these players. It was just the, the relationship with Morris.

Right, Eric Morris. Thank you. Kept them together, transfer to Oklahoma State. The reason they're not higher with all that production is just. I still think Mestamaker, until he proves it at the Power 4 level, he's closer to the 10th best quarterback in the country than he is to number one. I mean, just. I guess that goes for, for all of them. There's still the doubt there because one guy to bring up that strikes fear in me when picking Oklahoma State, here is Makai Hughes because he was at Tulane for a couple years, just absolutely all over.

I don't know what happened there. And he was an elite transfer, just like these guys. A very highly rated. Everyone wanted him and Oregon got him and somehow he basically couldn't get on the field. And two true freshmen ended up being the lead backs for Oregon and he requested a transfer after four games. It was just it. So I'm just like, okay, is that going to happen with Caleb Hawkins?

Okay, this is tough, I'm gonna say. Hmm. All right, well, why not? I gotta take Eileen Kiffin offense. I'll take a shot with lsu. I'll admit I'm a tiny bit skeptical that it can live up to Lane standards. And a lot of this, of course, is going to depend on Sam Levitt. And there's two things to really think about. One, his health after missing a lot of last year. And two, he was great with Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State. And I'm totally aware Lane is more proven than Dillingham, but it's not. I don't think it's crazy to think that Dillingham might have got everything he could out of him and so now Levitz just got to prove it in the sec. But he, he was a prize. Get Lane surrounding him with with, you would think a loaded roster. You got Harlem Berry at running back still A little unknown, but a freshman Last year, over 100 carries. Roles going to increase. Should be more productive, especially with a more potent passing attack compared to the struggles they had last year. And then receiver. I mean you could make a case for the tight end trade as Green. Like yeah, if trade is. Green has a big year. I think on the podcast I have to change my name to Tradez. I think that's just going to be the law. But. And then they. Of course a lot of transfers at receiver you got Jackson Harris was productive at Hawaii. Hawaii. Winston Watkins could break out. Eugene Wilson came from Florida. I think I would lean actually to Jace Brown from Kansas State. I think he could have a big year. He's had over 17 yards per catch the last two years. So he's a. He's a big play threat. Between trade as Green and Jace Brown. I'll take a shot with Jace Brown, but. But mainly I'm obviously banking on. On Levitt and, and Lane here.

Yeah, no trade as Green might be the best tight end in the country. So he would be a reasonable pick as well there. Okay. That would have been my pick. LSU there as well. I'm. I'm getting to the part of the draft where I don't feel as good about anybody here. I am going to pick Georgia. So at quarterback, Gunner Stockton, he's solid. He's good runner, takes care of the ball. Passing game could use some more explosiveness, maybe more efficient with some downfield shots. But overall he was. He was good.

Running back Nate Frazier, almost 1,000 yards last year. Five and a half yards per carry. Fumbles were an issue his freshman year. He seems to have kind of solve that. He was, for what it's worth, top 10 in PFFs running back grades last year. Receiver is the major weak link and why Georgia is not higher on this list. I'll say the Georgia Tech transfer Isaiah Canyon is the best. But like he was a highly rated, fairly highly rated transfer and, and has the talent. But he was Georgia Tech's third leading receiver. So it's not like he's some proven elite player. But that's just the nature of Georgia Tech's receiving or of Georgia's receiving corps this year.

Yeah, they need someone to fill the. The void of Zachariah Branch. So I would have gone Canyon too,

but Zachariah Branch who wasn't allowed to work out at usc, so that's why he had to transfer. I don't know if you saw that.

Okay, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go. Texas A and M, there's some change there. They lost Colin Klein as offensive coordinator, but Marcel Reed now is very experienced. He's kind of a slot guy, only 5 9, but he's always a threat. A couple years ago, over 20 yards per catch and then almost 1,000 yards last year. So he's not Malachi Tony, but he's, he can be fun when he's in the open field.

He is an awesome dual threat. There's a reason LSU tried to steal him away. He's. I just, I love Demon Williams. Running back is a potential weak link here because they lost Jonah Coleman to the NFL. They lost. Who's the guy that transferred to Cal? Ahmad Muhammad, I think, and, Or Adam Muhammad. Yeah, Adam Muhammad. And so they were kind of left in a jam there. Jordan Washington, I think is, is maybe the projected starter, but he was mostly a mop up duty guy last year as a freshman, so we'll see. And then wide receiver Desmond Roebuck was a freshman all American, so if he takes a step forward, maybe not A weak link there.

Okay. Yeah. You, you can't quit Jed Fish and. And Demon Williams. No, but yes. Okay. Not in love with this, but I'm going to say, I'm going to say Utah, I love me some Devin Dampier. I'm just really interested to see this offense without Jason Beck as offensive coordinator lead them Kyle Whittingham regime. But Dampier has been so productive in back to back years now that you would think he'd be fine. And given the fact that he the last two years combined for 2000 yards, he also was very productive or very efficient as a passer last year, 24 touchdowns to five picks. And then you got Wayshawn Parker at running back. His first two seasons were very productive. He was 13th in the nation with over six and a half yards per carry. So I like Wayshawn Parker. I like that one, two punch receiver is the big question mark here. The relying on some transfers. You got Kyrie Scholes, the transfer from San Jose State could be the guy I'm going to lead to. Braden Pagan, Utah state transfer over 900 yards receiving. And I just think with Dampier's threat on the ground, you don't necessarily need a premier receiver in order to be productive. So that's why I was okay taking kind of a weaker link receiver here with this pick.

Running back Jeremiah Cobb, almost a thousand yards, five and a half yards per carry last season. Quality SEC running back receiver is a question mark. Just like Brown is in that they're, they're going up in class. It's his. Was his leading receiver at USF. Kishan Keyshawn Singleton, 877 yards and eight touchdowns at USF. So we'll, we'll see. We'll see if Golesh's offense can translate right away. If so, then this trio should put up big numbers.

Yeah. I'm just like I have to bake in the potential. That injury played a factor for. I know it wasn't like he was. Well after one game he was the Heisman favorite or something like that for a weird. There was a weird period in there where he was second in Heisman odds even though he hadn't certainly through the air hadn't done much yet but he could break out. Houston was on my list because Connor Wigman finally had a nice healthy year last season under Willie Fritz. He showed some big chops on the ground 700 yards and 11 touchdowns. So. And then Makai Hughes again. I don't know what to do with him, but he's leaving Oregon, joining back up with Willie Fritz who he put up those numbers that Tulane with. So you would think, why not just get right back to what he was doing, just putting up 1400 yards. And then their receiver, Amari Thomas, he's the star here, had 1,000 yards, 12 touchdowns last year. Probably the best receiver in the Big 12.

But it's a little bit of a number one recruit. But yeah, it's a little bit of a Kelly Bryant, Clemson situation where going in the year. Well, Kelly Bryant had a good year. He's, he's solid. But you can't leave off the possibility the five star overtakes him.

Yeah, I, I, I wouldn't have drafted this team, but it'll be interesting to watch the, the team as a whole. Penn State and basically all three levels. You're going to have an Iowa State guy. So how does Iowa State do at, at Penn State? Rocco Becht, Carson Hansen, Chase. So, but just fascinating. They do have that. We've talked about it. They have a pretty favorable schedule in the Big Ten. But just seeing the Iowa State regime where with Matt Campbell, how will they fare in year one?

Cal I think has a chance to be high on this list at the end of the season if JKS takes a big step forward. He had a few clunkers last year. Very excusable. He was a true freshman. Not a good supporting cast at all. But now he's got, I mentioned Adam Muhammad, the former backup at Washington at running back. He was a really high recruit in the portal, so people seem to like his talent. And then at receiver you got two guys you could argue for. Ian Strong coming from Rutgers, who was the just the number two receiver behind K.J. duff there and Chase Hendricks coming from Ohio who had a thousand yards for the Bobcats. So either one of those guys could be very good. Well, and then you got Dorian Thomas coming from UNLV at tight end. Take your pick.

I wasn't ready to put all my marbles in him. I liked what Hammond did, but it was so limited.

Of course, I'm sure everyone listening already knows that he's planning to enter the NFL supplemental draft. And this comes after the Big 12 filed a lawsuit in federal court basically asking for a declaration that they would be able to punish Texas Tech via fines, withholding revenue, conference championship ban, all that if, if the Red Raiders chose to play. Brendan Sorsby and Texas Tech had previously talked a big, a big game that they had vowed to fight. And of course, prior to this filing, the Texas Attorney general put out a warning to the Big 12 not to pursue punishment. But it seems like after this filing and I'm sure some discussions behind the scenes, Texas Tech didn't want the smoke. They're like, all right, this, this whole thing just isn't worth it. So here we are. What are your thoughts, Trey?

Yeah, I mean it's just crazy how it's ping ponged back and forth. The one thing is, yeah, they, they were up against it. There was just going to be, it was going to be one thing after another to prevent him to play and it would have just gotten ugly. The only thing for me is I didn't, I don't think he should have played anyways. But man, would it have been fun the show that it would have been that week three when he came back like just the hoopla around it the buzz would have been pretty fun, but you know, this is probably the right thing to do and everyone can just kind of move on and we don't have to deal with like the over the top drama between conferences and teams threatening to sue and not play and law and lawsuits. It's just, it was too messy.

And they made that filing and then boom, Texas Tech back down. So that, that is definitely a cleaner outcome of all this. But like you. Well, there were some folks in our discord who were saying that they're, they're happy that this wasn't going to be a story throughout the year, just the Brendan Sorsby craziness. But I, I don't know, I, maybe I'm just a drama whore, but I kind of like you. He was actually kind of quiet last year on that team. Almost 1100 yards as a freshman and also had 200 yards receiving. And then you get probably not even arguably probably the best receiver in college football, Jeremiah Smith. So I'll take that trio.

Yeah, they would have been my first pick as well, but a close second for me is Miami. So that'll be my pick. You got Darian Mensah, of course, who's had two great years, one at Tulane as a Redshire freshman, then last year at Duke, took an offense that was one of the worst in the power four. He made them one of the better. And running back, you've got Mark Fletcher, who, of course, he's been great for a while, but that playoff run he had last year was insane. 6.8 yards per carry in their four games in the College Football Playoff. And then receiver Malachi Toney, I think I would have as the second best receiver in the country behind Jeremiah Smith. He led the nation in receptions last year as a true freshman. Only had one drop all season long. I know he had a couple fumbles in the. The playoff, but that wasn't a recurring problem on the season. So. Yeah, it's just. There's no. No weak link there. They're all arguably top five players at their position.

I'm a little bit of a sucker. I'm still buying into the Ole Miss offense without Lane, just because I think Chambliss can kind of transcend the offensive play caller a little bit. He's just one of those guys that it seems like you can kind of just roll the ball out and he can play. And, And. And you kind of forget now it's going to be a full off season with him as the starter. He wasn't even the starter going into last year, so maybe. Maybe there's some improvement in him. And then I get. Kwon Lacey was a total workhorse. 300 carries last year. And so. But yeah, receiver Deuce Alexander, they lose Stribling and Wallace, but I think Deuce Alexander is next in line to just kind of start pick up the pieces. I mean he had, they used him in the run game. He still did have 700 yards receiving even with Shibling and Wallace. So his role will increase. So I like this trio.

Because I on my big board I didn't want to go just I wanted to underweight quarterback a little bit compared to their actual value because they're also. You'd just be kind of drafting the best quarterbacks. I. I think I probably gave it like 50% weight to the quarterback, 25, 25 to running back and receiver.

That's fair. I think when I was at the top of my board so in general like running back didn't really have too much of an impact for me. But at the top it really did. Like if I like you like Kwan Lacey, Bo Jackson, Mark Fletcher, like that makes a difference to me. And then kind of maybe more as I got down the list, receiver became more important. But. But yeah, I didn't want to make it. I didn't make it a pure quarterback draft. Yeah.

Had a solid season as it was last year and it seems logical that he would take a decent sized step forward this year with a better supporting cast around him because man, they invested in some weapons and running back. Well, they invested in two weapons at running back. You got Relique Brown, the transfer from Arizona State or Hollywood Smothers from NC State. Both of them had. Have had great careers. Last year both of them averaged six yards per carry. Take your pick. I'll go with Hollywood Smothers. I guess I slightly prefer him, but you go either way. And then at wide receiver you've got Cam Coleman and again kind of like Arch Manning in that so far his numbers haven't been amazing. But for. For Coleman two years ago he was a true freshman. So that was a good year for a true freshman. And then this past year had terrible quarterback play. So now. Yeah, exactly. With all that talent he has now in a what should be a great offense, he's could emerge as a one of the best receivers in the country. So.

So I wasn't actually in love last year watching Dante Moore, but I might have been a little too critical. I mean, he still completed over 70% of his passes through 30 touchdowns. But I just think him coming back to college maturing, I think he's going to really blossom this year. Losing Will Stein as offensive coordinator might be interesting, but the natural surrounding talent is going to help him. Jordan Davison, the running back was only a freshman last year, over 100 carries. He's going to be what I think should be a stud running back in the Big Ten.

And then I got, you've got Deer Hill, who was a fellow freshman, averaged 8.7 yards per rush.

So yeah, those are your pick there. They're loaded. And then receiver, you got two guys that are coming off had injury trouble last year, but you got Decoran Moore and Evan Stewart. I'm going with decor and more just a little bit more upside. At this point in his career, he's just a fun weapon. And now as a sophomore, his rapport with more should only grow. And so I like, I like Decorum more. As long as he stays healthy.

Yeah, could have the more to more connection there. You could defend picking four different players there at receiver. Like you mentioned, two of them. You could also say Jeremiah McClellan just because he's the top returning receiver for them, but only had 500 yards. I actually would have gone with the tight end in this case Jamari Johnson, just because with Kenyon Siddiq gone, I feel like his production's going to pick up. And I mean as it was, he had 32 catches for 510 yards last year, so that's as far as tight end. It was a down tight end year last year, so that was pretty, pretty dang good. But yeah, Moore has I guess all that. He was just a true freshman. So he, he, yeah, and he missed time.

Okay. Usc. So at quarterback Jaden Maiva, he was awesome last year, led the nation in qbr. He just, he did everything pretty well. He did a great job of avoiding sacks when pressured. He was one of the best in the country at that per pff. He adds value as a runner and designed run plays. His one negative is it puts the ball in harm's way a bit more than you would like. But it's not crazy. It's not, you know, peak Josh Hoover levels. So. And he did. He got better with it. Yeah, he got better with it last season. My Ava did. So he's. And he just made so many just insane throws. So he's a. I think a top five quarterback in the country or at least top 10 running back. I have made it known how much I have an irrational love for Waymond Jordan on this, this podcast. Got hurt midway through last year, but he was second in the Big Ten in rushing yards and at that time had six and a half yards per carry. Or if you prefer, King Miller, the. The walk on, who had almost a thousand yards on 6.2 yards per rush. So can't go wrong there.

But Waymond Jordan was like totally unbiased. Was probably my favorite running back to like physically watch. I homer. Other homer Emmett Johnson was fun to watch, but like the way Wayman Jordan runs was so impressive. It's not like Reggie Bush, but it was like Reggie Bush in a way.

I just continue to be surprised that I, I don't see him on any of these top running backs list, no matter how deep they go. Granted, the injury is a real. Because that's been a concern even like at juco. So. And yet he's coming off ankle surgery, so that is a real probability that he's not going to stay healthy the whole year. But if he does, I just, I just think he'll have a monster year. But then you got wide receiver.

I mean, yeah, you're losing Jacoby Lane and Makai Lemon, but to Nook Hines is who I would go with. He was okay, number three guy last year. He was a true freshman and he did not enroll early, so it kind of took him a little bit to get going, but still ended up with 561 yards receiving, which behind those two guys is pretty good.

And more than half of those yards came in the last three games of the season. So he seems like a lock to Be really productive if he stays healthy. And of course, in that bowl game without Lemon and Lane, he put up monster numbers. I think that was a sign of things to come. You could also go with the NC State transfer Terrell Anderson, who was one of the top receivers in the Portal, but Hines I think more proven in the, in the system.

I'm like, I don't know. I'm drinking the off season Kool Aid on the Vols for some reason. I have no rationale behind this, but I have some faith in Hypo here. It's odd to pick a team in this case where the quarterback isn't even settled. You know, you got George McIntyre or Faison from Brandon, the true freshman, so I get that. But Hypo offenses just produce and then. But what I love about these, this is where I'm weighing the running back and receiver. DeSean Bishop, over a thousand yards on the ground as a sophomore, could be one of the best SEC backs. And then at receiver, you really can't go wrong. You got mainly between Braylon Staley or Mike Matthews. Staley As a freshman 68 reception looked like the best whiteout in the field in most of the games. And then on the other side, Matthews had over 800 yards. And so I just think those two on either side will be great. I, I would lean towards Staley as my, my pick here for the trio, but obviously it's a risk with this quarterback. I don't know, but I'm just. There's some blind faith here in Hypo getting some production out of one of those two.

So Signetti, of course, with Curtis Rourke and Fernando Mendoza did incredible job with those guys. But those players, their interception rates the year before going to India, Indiana were extremely low. I think they were basically identical to what they did as Hoosiers. So this is kind of a new challenge for Signetti. But even if Hoover throws a few too many picks, he's still a very good quarterback as it is.

the Indiana, Indiana offense. So I think he's at least top 15 nationally and he's got Heisman finalist upside. If Signetti can work his magic so good at quarterback, running back, you've got Turbo Richard. Transfer from Boston College had over 900 yards from scrimmage, 5.2 yards per rush attempt in a terrible offense. So I think, yeah, again he'll, he'll do better. At Indiana. They also have Kobe Martin, who played really well, mostly in mop up duty last year, but going with Richard. And then at receiver, you could choose Nick Marsh, the transfer from Michigan State, who of course has elite talent. But give me Charlie Becker had 679 yards and four touchdowns last year, which doesn't sound great, but he basically didn't play until the second half of the season and from that point on was one of the best receivers in the country, second in the power four in yards per route run, only behind Jeremiah Smith had 20 yards per catch, zero drops on the season. Like he was just unbelievable. And I know it no longer has Omar Cooper and Elijah Surratt to kind of take the attention, but Nick Marsh is no slouch.

Yep. Okay, so I think, Well, I guess I already proved it with Tennessee, but I think we're going to have some variance here. It was. It kind of got hard for me to order the rest of these teams. Yeah, I, I'm going to go. It's weird. I, I'm going to go with Notre Dame. C.J. carr, like, so C.J. carr is the prize here I'm getting. So I think he should put up big numbers against the schedule. And even without the schedule factor, he was so good last year in his first year completing like two thirds of his passes over almost nine and a half yards per attempt. And especially given recent track record, it's not like Notre Dame quarterbacks have been totally lighting it up and, but now I admit here they lose two first round running backs, so we'll see the impact of that on Carr and the offense, but we know the offensive line is going to be good. Anias Williams, he might not be Jeremiah Love, but he doesn't have to be. He can still be very productive in that offense. And then, and then I'm going to go with Jordan Faison on the outside. We'll see on, on him on the receiver. Like might not be a total game changer, but second year with Carr over 600 yards last year and I could see him threatening a thousand with just the natural offensive improvement I'm seeing this year with them. And especially since they're probably going to rely on the passing game more so than they did a year ago with the. The 12 duo at running back. So we'll see how the Williams and Faison do. But I might get a what the Heisman front runner right now, C.J. carr.

Yeah, there's, there's only so far that C.J. carr can fall on this list. That was so. I mean I would a couple rounds lower on him, but yeah, he was right in this range for me. But I'm going with a, a big three that there is no weak link. Oklahoma State going to Stillwater. So quarterback Drew Messemaker, of course, so of course this whole big three coming from North Texas. So Drew Messmaker led the nation in passing yards and yards per pass attempt. Caleb Hawkins at running back was fifth in the nation rushing yards, first in rushing touchdowns and then at receiver Wyatt Young, third in the nation in receiving yards and led the country in yards after catching per reception. So they were just all awesome in that North Texas offense. Granted, that's going up against an American schedule now. You're moving up in class to the Big 12. But it's not like these guys were like they were big time transfers. A lot of schools would have wanted these players. It was just the, the relationship with Morris.

There's still the doubt there because one guy to bring up that strikes fear in me when picking Oklahoma State, here is Makai Hughes because he was at Tulane for a couple years, just absolutely all over.

I'll admit I'm a tiny bit skeptical that it can live up to Lane standards. And a lot of this, of course, is going to depend on Sam Levitt. And there's two things to really think about. One, his health after missing a lot of last year. And two, he was great with Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State. And I'm totally aware Lane is more proven than Dillingham, but it's not. I don't think it's crazy to think that Dillingham might have got everything he could out of him and so now Levitz just got to prove it in the sec. But he, he was a prize. Get Lane surrounding him with with, you would think a loaded roster. You got Harlem Berry at running back still A little unknown, but a freshman Last year, over 100 carries. Roles going to increase. Should be more productive, especially with a more potent passing attack compared to the struggles they had last year. And then receiver. I mean you could make a case for the tight end trade as Green. Like yeah, if trade is. Green has a big year. I think on the podcast I have to change my name to Tradez. I think that's just going to be the law. But. And then they. Of course a lot of transfers at receiver you got Jackson Harris was productive at Hawaii. Hawaii. Winston Watkins could break out. Eugene Wilson came from Florida. I think I would lean actually to Jace Brown from Kansas State. I think he could have a big year. He's had over 17 yards per catch the last two years. So he's a. He's a big play threat. Between trade as Green and Jace Brown. I'll take a shot with Jace Brown, but. But mainly I'm obviously banking on. On Levitt and, and Lane here.

He's good runner, takes care of the ball. Passing game could use some more explosiveness, maybe more efficient with some downfield shots. But overall he was. He was good.

Running back Nate Frazier, almost 1,000 yards last year. Five and a half yards per carry. Fumbles were an issue his freshman year. He seems to have kind of solve that. He was, for what it's worth, top 10 in PFFs running back grades last year. Receiver is the major weak link and why Georgia is not higher on this list. I'll say the Georgia Tech transfer Isaiah Canyon is the best. But like he was a highly rated, fairly highly rated transfer and, and has the talent. But he was Georgia Tech's third leading receiver. So it's not like he's some proven elite player. But that's just the nature of Georgia Tech's receiving or of Georgia's receiving corps this year.

He was actually the leading roster over Le'Veon Moss and over Marcel Reed. He should be a workhorse this year, especially with Moss gone. And then I like Mario Craver at receiver. He's kind of a slot guy, only 5 9, but he's always a threat. A couple years ago, over 20 yards per catch and then almost 1,000 yards last year. So he's not Malachi Tony, but he's, he can be fun when he's in the open field.

They lost. Who's the guy that transferred to Cal? Ahmad Muhammad, I think, and, Or Adam Muhammad. Yeah, Adam Muhammad. And so they were kind of left in a jam there. Jordan Washington, I think is, is maybe the projected starter, but he was mostly a mop up duty guy last year as a freshman, so we'll see. And then wide receiver Desmond Roebuck was a freshman all American, so if he takes a step forward, maybe not A weak link there.

Okay. Yeah. You, you can't quit Jed Fish and. And Demon Williams. No, but yes. Okay. Not in love with this, but I'm going to say, I'm going to say Utah, I love me some Devin Dampier. I'm just really interested to see this offense without Jason Beck as offensive coordinator lead them Kyle Whittingham regime. But Dampier has been so productive in back to back years now that you would think he'd be fine. And given the fact that he the last two years combined for 2000 yards, he also was very productive or very efficient as a passer last year, 24 touchdowns to five picks. And then you got Wayshawn Parker at running back. His first two seasons were very productive. He was 13th in the nation with over six and a half yards per carry. So I like Wayshawn Parker. I like that one, two punch receiver is the big question mark here. The relying on some transfers. You got Kyrie Scholes, the transfer from San Jose State could be the guy I'm going to lead to. Braden Pagan, Utah state transfer over 900 yards receiving. And I just think with Dampier's threat on the ground, you don't necessarily need a premier receiver in order to be productive. So that's why I was okay taking kind of a weaker link receiver here with this pick.

Running back Jeremiah Cobb, almost a thousand yards, five and a half yards per carry last season. Quality SEC running back receiver is a question mark. Just like Brown is in that they're, they're going up in class. It's his. Was his leading receiver at USF. Kishan Keyshawn Singleton, 877 yards and eight touchdowns at USF. So we'll, we'll see. We'll see if Golesh's offense can translate right away. If so, then this trio should put up big numbers.

I know it's rough at receiver. Like I don't know.

But let's see my. Okay, my next one left off the board was Oklahoma. They were a tough one to rank. I just don't know what to think of Mater. I'm not necessarily super bullish on him but you got him and Isaiah Satania at receiver. That's pretty good.

I mean it's like Mattier can still be productive but man, it was hard to watch sometimes.

Yeah. I'm just like I have to bake in the potential. That injury played a factor for. I know it wasn't like he was. Well after one game he was the Heisman favorite or something like that for a weird. There was a weird period in there where he was second in Heisman odds even though he hadn't certainly through the air hadn't done much yet but he could break out. Houston was on my list because Connor Wigman finally had a nice healthy year last season under Willie Fritz. He showed some big chops on the ground 700 yards and 11 touchdowns. So. And then Makai Hughes again. I don't know what to do with him, but he's leaving Oregon, joining back up with Willie Fritz who he put up those numbers that Tulane with. So you would think, why not just get right back to what he was doing, just putting up 1400 yards. And then their receiver, Amari Thomas, he's the star here, had 1,000 yards, 12 touchdowns last year. Probably the best receiver in the Big 12.

So honestly it was kind of Wigman holding, holding him back a little bit.

I'll be interested to see Wigman higher on this list. He's, he's probably the most productive quarterback that's going to have a potential short leash just given the. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. But he was so good. He deserves to, to be the guy. So we'll see.

But it's a little bit of a number one recruit. But yeah, it's a little bit of a Kelly Bryant, Clemson situation where going in the year. Well, Kelly Bryant had a good year. He's, he's solid. But you can't leave off the possibility the five star overtakes him.

Yeah, I, I, I wouldn't have drafted this team, but it'll be interesting to watch the, the team as a whole. Penn State and basically all three levels. You're going to have an Iowa State guy. So how does Iowa State do at, at Penn State? Rocco Becht, Carson Hansen, Chase. So, but just fascinating. They do have that. We've talked about it. They have a pretty favorable schedule in the Big Ten. But just seeing the Iowa State regime where with Matt Campbell, how will they fare in year one?

Cal I think has a chance to be high on this list at the end of the season if JKS takes a big step forward. He had a few clunkers last year. Very excusable. He was a true freshman. Not a good supporting cast at all. But now he's got, I mentioned Adam Muhammad, the former backup at Washington at running back. He was a really high recruit in the portal, so people seem to like his talent. And then at receiver you got two guys you could argue for. Ian Strong coming from Rutgers, who was the just the number two receiver behind K.J. duff there and Chase Hendricks coming from Ohio who had a thousand yards for the Bobcats. So either one of those guys could be very good. Well, and then you got Dorian Thomas coming from UNLV at tight end. Take your pick.

Yeah. Would it is the other thing that's kind of interesting about this and we. Brennan Texas Tech. So you know, the drop off from Brandon Sorsby to Hammond as a. As a team impact. It might really not be that much on the regular season, but it kind of did weigh a little bit on. On me here. I wasn't. Especially with. With Hammond coming off injury. It's like I. I wasn't ready to put all my marbles in him. I liked what Hammond did, but it was so limited.
