Unknown Host (0:00)
Hey, Counterclock listeners, if you listened to the latest bonus Q and A For Counterclock Season 7, you know, I had a surprise guest host that many of you are probably already familiar with. Amanda Knox, exoneree journalist, public speaker, author, and fellow podcaster. And if you listened all the way to the end, you heard us talk about season two of the podcast three, which Amanda herself is hosting. In this season, Amanda explores the story of the murder of 23 year old Dana Ireland on the Big island of Hawaii. Over the last 30 years, three men have been accused of this heinous crime. And like Amanda had to in her case, they have been fighting to clear their name, which felt like an impossible task until now. This story stayed with me and I know it'll stay with you too. Episodes one and two of season two of three are out now wherever you get your podcasts, but I wanted to share the trailer with you guys so you can see what I'm talking about.

Dana took off down this country road on her bicycle. Based on the evidence, someone in a pickup truck forced her off the side of the road and then abducted her.

Christmas Eve 1991, on Hawaii's Big Island, 23 year old Dana Ireland went for a bike ride and never came home. Hours later, she was found brutally injured in a remote area, her life slipping away with every minute that passed. And by 12:07am in the early hours of Christmas morning, Dana was gone. Her death shook the community of Vacationland, Hawaii and the entire Big island to its core. And the police needed to get answers quickly. No matter how they got them, they.

Already came to the conclusion in their mind that we're going railroad the Switzer brothers and that's it. There was a lot of deal making going on because to have such a big lie like this, everybody gotta be on the same page.

I'm Amanda Knox. I know what it's like to be trapped in the nightmare of being wrongly accused. And the years it takes to vindicate yourself in the eyes of the law, in the eyes of an unforgiving media and a judgmental public.

I lost half my life. Lost half my life. And the prosecutors were all right with that, the judge was all right with that. It was all right with me dying in prison. You know, I think that's. You gotta let it see, let that sink in. You know, sit in a cell for something you didn't do for 130 years, let that float on your brain for about 10 years and then do it again for another 10. And then, you know, there were not a six on top of that. You don't really believe it's gonna happen because it's like, so fucking ridiculous that it. That's how I felt. I felt it was fucking ridiculous that they even came after us. It's like, it's fucking ridiculous.
