The wins were NC State ECU first half under 31 and a half, Akron first half plus three and a half. I believe that was 00 at halftime, right? Yes, for a while but yeah, you, you were able to get that one home. Texas, Ohio State first half Under 23 and a half Notre Dame, Miami first half Under 24 and a half Two Lane Northwestern Under 46 Virginia Tech, South Carolina Under 52 and a half Tennessee first quarter -3 and a half Seven and one for the week has you eight and two for the season. How, what's, what's the recap, what's the post game press conference sound like?

I feel pretty good about most of these. You know Auburn had the kickoff return obviously which helped but they still moved the football. So it probably wasn't a great handicap by me I thought a little bit fortunate with, with Tulane. I thought they moved the football better than the points they scored. But the transfer at quarterback Northwestern took just can't play, at least not through one game. So you know, felt pretty good there. Scoring is way down across the sport. I think a lot of that is just the, the amount of veteran players who have had to move on because we don't have these 24 year old covey kids anymore. And I also like you know, shout out to our friend Bill Connolly who had all the numbers on it in his Tuesday column about how much too high teams are seeing now. And just like they're really copying that NFL model that they understand the analytics dictate that you really got to deny the explosive play at all costs. You know, it's not just hey, stop the run. It's like actually it's, it's denied the explosive and make teams really, really drive the football and you make them be consistent. Which I think with all these transfer rosters, by the way, is even more difficult. First time a lot of these guys have played together in a game. Can you successfully execute 10, 12, 13 play drives with guys you just met? Sometimes it's tough. I think scoring will increase, the season goes on, but man, we are way down.

All right, Bloodbath Saturday for me. Unlv same. Houston State over 61 was a Texas first half, plus a half was a Alabama minus 13 and a half. I mean I, I do not have a sound effect to properly describe how awful that one was. Clemson did not win the third quarter. Notre Dame, Miami. I felt good about that one. Y' all had the first half. I went the full game. That thing was, was pacing. All right, even Mario trying to sit on it. But obviously that's a loss. Losses are losses. Indiana fourth quarter. We are absolutely concerned about the smoking habits in Bloomington. Georgia Marshall under 55 and a half is a win. Utah UCLA over 51 and a half as a win. Texas a and m first half -13 and a half is a loss. And then Montana State plus 28 and a half is a loss. Two and eight for the week. Five and eight for the season. Danny, he's got six and four on the week. The wins were USF plus five and a half, Georgia Tech minus four. Texas, Ohio State under 48. Notre Dame, Miami first half under 24 and a half. Florida State first half plus seven and a half. Utah minus five and a half. Losses were NC State minus 13 and a half. Clemson minus three and a half. Indiana minus 23 and a half. Virginia Tech plus seven and a half. What we learned what are we taking moving forward?

We have a couple of rookies here on the show that really pissed me off because I'm driving up to tallahassee. I'm going 90 miles an hour trusting the autopilot to work. Illinois, western Illinois under 63 and a half. We love it. Ohio State minus one and a half. LSU, Clemson under 57 and a half. Purdue minus 17 and a half and Mary Mac minus Mack Mack plus six and a half. A back and forth battle. They. They threatened to get it done on the field, but the COVID bringing it home. The only losses again that UNLV Sam Houston over Alabama -13 and a half and Penn State, Nevada under 56 and a half. Five and three for the week, seven and four for the season.

Yeah, the Merrimack play, that was discipline rule ruling me. I, I was originally considering taking Merrimack on the money line and then I thought better of it right before the show started and I was like, you know, I'll just take them in the points. I don't want to get too crazy. So it was a good thing that I did. Although I nearly would have won the money line too. I didn't learn a ton, honestly. Except maybe Alabama stinks. But if I look at my losses, first of all, the Penn State, Nevada loss was a heartbreaker with Nevada scoring in the final minute and then going for two to push the total to 57. That was just a. Come on, Penn State, be better. And then I am. I have filed a protest about UNLV Sam Houston.

If you guys actually watched that game. There was no game clock for like the entire second half. The officials were keeping it on the field. So as far as I'm concerned, there still might be 10 minutes left in that game. So I don't know. I'm filing a protest.

Our friend Colin Wilson, I think was the one who tweeted. Millions of dollars have been wagered on this total and it's being kept in Las Vegas by officials with their little stopwatches.

And Tom, we were close. We were pacing and we were pacing and we finished close. But. But yeah, I hope that we can get a reversal. Like, I think I had a Jose Ramirez total bases from the summer that got reversed. Maybe we can get the same luck here. JMU is a good enough team to at least make Louisville do something, but I don't have a good feel enough to bet that was at 17 and a half somewhere around there.

I didn't get eyes on the game, though, other than a couple of Malik Washington highlights. So I, I'm gonna pass. I, I thought about a little first half under stuff there, but it's been ticking up, so I'll just wait that out. Maybe closer to game time if a 24 at reasonable odds shows, maybe take a little pizza money on it.

Yeah. Yeah. All right, then let's go ahead and rock on into some of the big games on Saturday. We begin with the Cy Hawk Trophy. El Asico for those of a certain breed and generation. Iowa at Iowa State. Iowa State. Three. Three and a half, depending on your number. Over, under around 41 and a half. Who's got a lot? All right, let's get it started.

Oh, well, first of all, I'm scared to speak about anything to do with Iowa State because, man, those guys are really upset with us this week. My God. Did you guys calm the hell down?

I'm gonna go over.

Tom Fornelli
I just think the total is too low. I think that Iowa's defense in recent years has not been up to the same level that we have seen that we would normally expect. I also think Iowa State's defense has proven to be somewhat soft so far to start the year through two games giving up a lot of explosive plays. They have one of the lowest pressure rates in the country as far as getting after the quarterback. I know Mark Gronowski was horrible last week, but I also don't think Iowa was trying to put anything on tape ahead of this game. It was a very, very basic game, which is not an excuse for how he played because he played like crap. But I do expect a better performance here. I also expect Iowa to show some things they haven't yet, which could cause some problems for the Iowa State defense. And forty one and a half points isn't that much to ask for. So give me the over 41 and a half.

I'm. I've got. I've got the cousin of your lock. Iowa team total over 19 and a half. 20 points. I mean we did a drive to 325. Just asking him to score 25. You know, like we just, we just got to get 20 points as we saw last year. It. It doesn't even, they don't even need capable quarterback play to necessarily be able to see an increase in, in yards and production and scoring. Yeah. Let's go. Iowa team total over 19 and a half. So the, the same kind of game should, should have both of us being able to get this thing home.

Maybe the Iowa State receivers will play a little bit better. I was thinking under. It's just been bet down so much open 44 and a half now we're looking at like 41 and a half. Decent juice under or 41 flat. I. I'm gonna pass. I, I am. I, I lean under because of the reliance on tight ends from this Iowa State offense and those generally are not going to create explosives. But you know, Iowa does like, like to play a lot of split field coverages and sometimes you can hit tight ends on those. I, I lean under. I'm a pass.

I got a lock. I've been the Mark Granowski fanboy this whole off season. I kind of. I hope you guys are right. I hope there's more points. I don't trust that I'm gonna take Iowa in the three and a half. They're seven and two in the last nine. Now they've lost the last two in Ames. One was by one point, the other was by a field goal. I think this game comes down to the wire, so I'll take Iowa plus three and a half, man.

Yeah, we're gonna take first half under 24 and a half friends at Fanduel. I, I'm a little nervous about Illinois playing that much man coverage against Duke. Duke likes to run a lot of crossers and, and stuff like that. And that, that's. That can be kind of hard if, if you're playing a lot of man, you got to chase guys a lot. But I do think that Illinois can get movement against Duke's front and keep the clock moving. Like, this is a real battle of tempos. You know, Duke wants to go insane mode tempo. And you know that, that Illinois wants to probably do. I would think the exact opposite. They, they. I mean, they've shown some tempo occasionally with Altmeyer. And if you wanted to tell me, bud, you're an idiot, they're gonna go tempo because it prevents Duke from getting in as many exotics, I guess. But I don't really give a damn if Duke's an exotics. If I, if I'm in third and three because I'm running the football well. Right. And I, I can't imagine Illinois is like, yeah, we want to give Duke 13, 14 possessions in this ball game. So also, Altmeyer has been pretty bad against the blitz in his career. So I think heavy run game. You know what? You're not bad against the blitz if you're handing it off. So first half, under 24 and a half for me in 335. Illinois, Duke. Yep.

I was, I was dialed in on, on that number. I like that from our friends at FanDuel. And I, I think that you, you might not believe that there's going to be any kind of atmosphere. And I'm not going to sit here and try and tell you that it's out, like, going to be buzzing. But Illinois coming in, ranked opponent. Ranked opponents have lost at Duke in the last couple years. I could see them trying to set the tone and they're going to set the tone at the line of scrimmage and that would be a way to limit things. Darian Mensah, also, slow start. That was 10, 10 against Elon. So I will go first half under as well.

Yeah, exactly. Then you can really have a ton of fun. You're rooting for totally different things. First half, second half. I think both these quarterbacks are too good to just not see a lot of production. And I do worry that Illinois could slow the game down. But I think Darian Mento, who did start slow, but he finished strong, he might be running for his life, but I do think he has some weapons. I do think he can get some big plays. Maybe this is one of those where you get this late backdoor, they have to start throwing it around a little bit. I'm gonna go over 49 and a half.

You know, it'd be cool thing for like, for books to add since they've taken away so many fun things that we could Bet in this year. Unfortunately, I'm still a little salty. These, these derivative totals for the year. You know how you can bet like first half full game? Like I, I had a lot of Georgia Tech first half full game like Moneyline result, both sides. Wouldn't be cool if you could do like for like, if you could parlay that at the book. Like first half, you know, under for the first half full for the game and, and get like some, you know, sometimes these like anti correlated stuff actually are not quite as anti correlated as you think.

No, it is not a bar fight. This is. I'm taking the full game under. The Illinois. The Illinois game last week hit under. I took it. It went the way I expected it. But it's one thing to also remember. Illinois scored a touchdown on a punt return. First time in 12 years they've done that. They also had a long 60 yard run by Aiden Loughery in the second half. Like they were hitting a lot of explosives against Western Illinois late in that game that I don't expect them to be able to hit against this Duke defense. So I think Illinois is going to have more of a conservative approach on offense here going on the road. Even though they are a veteran team because the secondary is good and they haven't had anybody truly emerge at receiver. As far as your concerns about the defense playing, man, I do think we'll see them play more zone because they did do that in certain matchups last year. And I think this is a spot where they'll feel like they can do so. Kentucky had a three point victory last last year, which we do recall. So differential is 2 points in the last four meetings. The average point total in the last two meetings is 39. So my gut tells me this will be a close lower scoring game. The only reason I can't pick UK plus 10 and a half here is that the Kiffin has this game circled. That UK loss last year basically kept Ole Miss from making the playoff and was certainly one of the most disappointing games of the season. I wish you would use paragraphs. I believe Kiffin would would like some redemption here and usually does have success in those games he has circled. Except for Saban. I'm trying to find an angle on that and I think the best place to do that is first quarter or first half. With the thought that Kiffin would like to jump on UK early. I think that is safer than giving up the ten and a half on the full game. So the Crest, Proctor and Gamble Dennis pick of the week is Ole Miss minus six and a half for the first half. Now Kentucky does not have the studs up front this year that they did last year, but they do got a couple guys who can penetrate. I don't trust this Kentucky offense at all. Like Calzada to me is that was not great. But I am going to go first half under 26 if I'm Kentucky, I do not want to get into a shootout. I want to play this game slow. I want to deny the big play. I think they will be able to move the ball against this Miami defense who only gave up 17 points to Wisconsin. But it's important to remember there was a red zone turnover by the backup quarterback in that game because he was in the game because their starting quarterback, Billy Edwards got hurt.
