AKA the COVID three tailgate. Where cover. Hey, Cover three film rooms back. I don't know if y' all seen him, but he really. Yeah. I need to know the wouldn't it be hilarious game of the week. I will go ahead and set a tease. I've got one. I don't know if y' all have. I don't know if y' all sniffed one out, but there's some wouldn't it be hilarious potential all over the board. Generated some fun conversation in the tailgate as well. So thank you everybody for jumping in and getting the conversation going on our favorite day of the week. That's right, it is Thursday. A chance for us to give you our best bets for the weekend. But before we look ahead to week three, we've got to look back at week two, week two. But Elliott, it was a two and eight week. The wins. Hey, unit Y, we thank Queen Latifah, Michigan, Oklahoma first half under 23 comes home. Also cash and Kent State plus 48 and a half. Now, spiritually, bud, if you're only going to cash two on this whole card, I think you got the right two because the Kent State plus 48 and a half. Andy and a Queen Latifah. You love to see that the losses first half under in Illinois, Duke, the Ole Miss, Kentucky first half under 26, Cincinnati minus 21. UCLA UNLV over 54 and a half. Fresno, Oregon State first half under 23, Western Kentucky plus seven and a half. The Florida first half minus 10 and Tulsa minus four and a half. Thoughts on the week?
Bud Elliott
Yeah, so bad calls obviously Florida and Western Kentucky, Tulsa's quarterback got knocked out of the game fairly early so that, you know, didn't see that coming. I, I thought really not to make excuses because I had plenty of bad ones. I thought Ole Miss Kentucky first half under was like a really crappy beat there. And then obviously the Illinois, Duke first half under was just like a gut punch bad beat. Honestly, like you, you had the turnover there which resulted in scoring. You had kind of a ridiculous call. And then also like they didn't review the catch.
Chip Patterson
Like, okay, yeah, it was like, it's like a drop right there. Pretty obvious. Moving ahead with it. Yeah.
Bud Elliott
Yeah. All Right. We're just gonna roll with this. Okay. So yeah, not a great week. Looking to bounce back obviously. I don't know. I think I'd probably fire Cincy again. They got backdoored pretty good on that so.
Chip Patterson
All right. Two and eight for the week has Bud at ten and ten for the season six and four week here getting in on that. Michigan Oklahoma first half under other wins included Oregon minus 28 and a half. The Oregon first half minus 16 and a half. Mississippi State plus six and a half Fresno State plus three and a half couple dogs that got it done on the field. Arkansas team total over 43 took a loss on that. Illinois Duke first half under that we just mentioned the Iowa team total over 19 and a half. I've. I follow day trade and Danny we are selling our stock. I'm not going to try to wish this thing into existence. You UCLA UNLV over 54 and a half. Thought we were going to go over with a little pick six late didn't end up coming through in the OR. Scoop and score forgot defensive touchdown. Baylor SMU the first quarter over 14 six and four for the week has me at 11 and 12 for the season. DK the winner of the week a six and three week for you wins were Iowa plus three and a half. Michigan, Oklahoma first half under 23. You got a little lock fight win getting the over in Durham 49 and a half between Illinois and Duke. Also Kansas Missouri over 50 and a half. Baylor SMU over 63 and a half BYU minus 20. The only losses the over 55 and a half in USF Florida just not enough touchdowns there. You were also on the first half under there in Lexington. So strong week six and three has you at 12 and nine right now for the season. Now what are we taking in spinning forward.
Danny Cannell
I always look at the losses they hurt worse than the wins. You know you don't enjoy those as much. This is the Kansas State. I'm off the Kansas State bandwagon thinking there's going to be a big bounce back for them. I think I'm going to leave them in the rear view for a while.
Chip Patterson
I think that's probably a smart decision. We'll, we'll. We'll let them go figure out what's up with themselves and then we'll return. Tom, solid week for you. Five and three. You are. Oh yeah, sorry six and three for the week, 12 and nine for the season. Currently in second place for the year behind Tom Fornelli who continues to build five and three on the week the wins were Michigan, Oklahoma under 45 and a half. He went full game. Oregon minus 28 and a half. Indiana minus 35. The Miami, Rutgers over 45 and a half. Fresno State plus three and a half. The only losses, Western Kentucky plus seven and a half. The lock fight lost to Danny on the Illinois, Duke total. And then over 41 and a half in Iowa, Iowa State.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, Western Kentucky bad read. What I expected there did not go Iowa, Iowa State bad read, did not go the way I expected. Illinois, Duke. I feel like the only person unluckier than Duke in that game was me on that loss because they got so unlucky and they kept committing those turnovers late and Illinois got easy touchdowns out of it to push it over. So yeah, you know, win some, lose some.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, you know, like it's. Who cares about the actual score or who won or lost, Right? It's, it's, it's about who should have won.
Bud Elliott
That's what they say they should have.
Tom Fornelli
I mean anytime you commit fewer than six turnovers, you should win.
Chip Patterson
It's tough. I mean, when you've got all those jersey numbers, you know, 120 players in this, you know, rev share era, you can't both out there with six same jersey numbers. It's crazy. All right. Okay, let's get that out of here because we're, we're flushing week two. We are eyes ahead to week three. And with some conference games on deck, with some ranked on ranked battles on deck, I ask you gentlemen, y' all ready to lock it up?
Tom Fornelli
I am.
Danny Cannell
Let's do it.
Tom Fornelli
Since 2005, the under in games between service academies is 49 in one.
Danny Cannell
Give me an over in this one as well.
Bud Elliott
A little two for one special. I was a sicko last week. Y' all were watching the good games. I was live betting the hell out of UL in Kentucky. My blue plate special, five star locks are coming.
Chip Patterson
Five star master lock. Lock it. I love these locks. I'm, I'm, I'm living and dying.
Bud Elliott
Every, every point, every cover.
Chip Patterson
From the locking chair to your eyes and ears and locks on all season long are sponsored by Cash App. Making money moves should be easy. And the winner, the season long locks contest between us four will be presented with a trophy from Cash App. Again, your season long standings right now. Tom currently in first place. DK coming in right behind Him. Okay, let's begin, as we always do, with Thursday night, Friday night locks. First ACC action. Old rivalry between Wake Forest and NC State. Did y' all know Wake Forest used to be in Wake Forest? There's a Wake Forest, North Carolina, that is a suburb of Raleigh and then moved out to Winston Salem a long time ago. So these two schools at one time, we're very, very close to each other now. It's. Yeah, not that far. About, you know, two hours, more or less. So anybody gonna make a play on Dave Doran, Jake Dickert and the Wolf Pack and the Demon Deacons?
Tom Fornelli
Did they move the entire college or did they just move to new buildings?
Chip Patterson
They moved the entire college.
Tom Fornelli
Like, they picked up the buildings and moved them.
Chip Patterson
It is still like a Baptist seminary. Like where Wake Forest University was, is still a school, but it is a Baptist seminary.
Tom Fornelli
So they didn't take the buildings with them?
Chip Patterson
No.
Tom Fornelli
Well, then what. Now I'm just confused.
Chip Patterson
Well, Tom, you've got a good Twitter tip for this. I'm curious if you're going to lock it up or whether that was just Twitter tip.
Tom Fornelli
It's just. I mean, it's a Twitter tip. It comes with 100% confidence, but I am not locking it up. It happens to be wake Forest under 20, one and a half teen total.
Bud Elliott
That kind of goes with something I do like, which is under. I'm just waiting to see if it's going to go back up a little bit. I think there's maybe a chance that.
Chip Patterson
It does well, because there's competing principles here. I. I walked out of week one and week two thinking that NC State overs are just going to be a go zone. But Wake Forest is really going to test that, you know.
Bud Elliott
Well, Wake really doesn't throw the ball very well. But last week, NC State basically daredevil UVA to run the ball. I think they gave him a lot of light boxes. I said, okay, we'll, you know, we'll see what happens there. And.
Chip Patterson
But uva ran the ball effectively in the first half.
Bud Elliott
Like, just gashed him and the game, honestly, I mean, like, the game was high scoring, right? So you can say the plan didn't work. We'll see if they do it again.
Chip Patterson
Robbie Ashford, containing him will be a big thing. I wouldn't be surprised if we see like 20 rushing attempts from Ashford here in this game. So if. If the Wolf Packer buttoned up, you know, they. They should be able to take care of business. And. But I think you did mention. Was it on Wednesday? Did you Say it would be the worst thing for the ACC for NC State to lose. Is that what you.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, I'm just. I'm thinking about like, how many of these teams are actually going to make a bowl, you know, and like, I think NC State's a bold team because they beat uva, but if they don't, if they don't.
Chip Patterson
If they lose the Wake Forest five days later, they give it right back.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, like their updated win total on on FanDuel is six and a half Juice under if you lose this one, like they're not favored. There's like a lot of teams in this league. I've been looking at this intently from like an FSU perspective because you know, with Florida losing the usf, like that would be a nice win to get if you're in the playoff hunt. Like, I mean Cal's probably gonna make a bowl now, which is nice. Clemson, Duke still definitely favored. Mica bowl slightly. Georgia Tech.
Chip Patterson
Hey, save it for Knowles to go, all right? We can't be like. Yeah, I know. It's like a fan mindset where you just intently start looking at each one of your remaining opponents and then gaming it out from there. I. I think we gotta do this one.
Bud Elliott
Not a lock, you know, to, to make one. You know, Q's is heavily favored to not make one. Now UVA is favored. Well, they're actually favorite to mix it with their schedules of cakewalk but like text not going bowling, Wake's not going bowl. You kind of need a couple more bowl teams.
Chip Patterson
Okay, listen, you and the Noel boys can, can focus on your. Your very, very interests. I'm. I'm gonna keep things with just what's in front of me. I can't think that far down the line. All right, Friday we also have several conference games. Some fun big 12 action. You got Colorado at Houston, you got Kansas State at Arizona, plus some non cons for UCLA hosting New Mexico, Indiana home against Indiana state and top 25 action. Syracuse, Colgate. Anyone got a Friday night lock?
Danny Cannell
I do.
Chip Patterson
Go for it.
Danny Cannell
As much as I love the story of Martin Luther Staub, I' ma have to fade him. I think that dream gets extinguished tonight. Willie Fritz, year two. This was my dark horse team. Kind of being that mix. Later in the season, the Big 12, one of the most improved teams out there, Connor Wegman seems like he's finally found a sweet spot. And this is. I don't. When Dion says we have a plan at quarterback, it sure doesn't sound like it. I think things are falling apart a little bit there. Offensively, they're searching for answers. I think Willie Fritz and Houston are going to have all of them. I'm going to lay them with Houston locker.
Bud Elliott
Grant. I definitely don't think Houston's amazing. It's like, don't get me wrong on that. But it's looking at this. I'm a little concerned about Colorado's defensive injuries. They had a couple safeties banged up. I think that's really important with how Houston tries to stress the safeties in the run game. Now, Houston's coverage has not been very good this year and they have also not played like really any offense worth a damn. But I don't know how much Stob can actually exploit that. So I. I am going to go ahead and lock up Houston here.
Chip Patterson
Sounds about right. Nothing. Nothing for me here.
Bud Elliott
Tom, how am I in the top right box?
Danny Cannell
That.
Bud Elliott
That is true.
Chip Patterson
Oh, I clear.
Bud Elliott
There we go. Now all is right in the world. This is bugging me. Yeah, and it's bugging the chat too. Like, you know, we got Die Hards when they're like, like a little nervous tick going because Tom. Tom's bottom left, not top right.
Chip Patterson
Well, hey, listen, producer Mikey was holding the. The move hostage for more likes on the chat, which I will always encourage. You know, you get the likes up. But it. Listen, we've. We've got it fixed now, everybody.
Bud Elliott
Which we are. You think we're hit 60, 000 followers during the show today? I'm just saying like we're 59. 9 something. I'm trying to find like a live analytics on. On this but.
Chip Patterson
Well, well, I mean, listen, I know you're on the road. Let's keep everything here. Don't open too many tabs, don't breathe wrong.
Bud Elliott
Hey, got that premium Marriott Internet dude.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, that's right. That's. That's Bonvoy only. Anybody else got anything for Friday? Nope.
Bud Elliott
I. I was thinking about like potentially doing a little bit like waterfall alts with Arizona just in case Kansas State is like dead and quit. Yeah, I. I don't think UCLA played quite as bad as the score indicated last week, but I. I don't know if I really trust them to be sharp and win by margin.
Chip Patterson
Yeah.
Bud Elliott
And also like some of the stuff that Jason's doing there in New Mexico is. Is interesting and I think if you don't take this week of prep seriously, you won't get enough stops to win by margin.
Chip Patterson
There's another team in. In a similar situation. I'll be excited to talk about later. And. And I'm with you on the Arizona. This will be the first competitive game that we've seen from the Wildcats. But. And I. I gotta say, like, I haven't sat down and done any tape grinding on the. On Arizona. I don't know if y' all have, but the results sure point to an improved football team.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, I. I think that they had like a chemistry thing last year. I. I don't know exactly what the chemistry problem was, but, like, they clearly weren't all together. And maybe that's just like part of, you know, Jed Fish leaving and some of the players following him, but they've. They've done a better job this year for sure. By the way, this Isaiah Mizell kid, have you seen him get out of Florida, freshman? He's. He's not bad, man. Like, that's a receiver to watch for them.
Chip Patterson
Is he related to Smoke?
Bud Elliott
I don't think so.
Chip Patterson
Okay. Myself is a pretty unique last name.
Bud Elliott
Nor cj. I don't think if you guys remember CJ Maisel. That guy was an absolute freak show of a linebacker recruit back in like 08 or 09.
Tom Fornelli
I do not.
Chip Patterson
Who.
Bud Elliott
Never. He ended up getting in trouble. Like, never made it, but. Yeah.
Danny Cannell
Are they all related to Ivan?
Chip Patterson
Ivan.
Danny Cannell
They're dispelled differently. I know, but the way you guys are saying it, it does sound a little.
Chip Patterson
I've. Ivan's just got nothing but blue chip sons. Yeah. All right. Coming up on the other side, we turn our attention to Saturday's games, starting with some of the big ones on deck, including some tough, tricky spots for some favorites on the road. And more next.
Bud Elliott
At Archer.
Chip Patterson
We know real life can feel a little unbelievable sometimes. From learning that the coffee you just ordered cost 12 bucks to finding out your friend who was a personal trainer signed you up for a triathlon next month. It's enough to make your head spin. But when you take a moment to indulge in the bold, satisfying taste of Archer's 100% grass fed beef sticks, everything else fades away. No artificial fillers, no preservatives. Just the pure goodness of real food to fuel your day. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Mm.
Bud Elliott
Mm.
Chip Patterson
So when life starts to feel a little too extra, remember to stick to what matters most. Stick to real. Stick to Archer. Thanks for selling your car to Carvana. Here's your check. Whoa.
Tom Fornelli
When did I get here?
Chip Patterson
What do you mean? I swear it was just moments ago.
Bud Elliott
That I accepted a great offer from Carvana online.
Chip Patterson
I must have time traveled to the future. It was just moments ago. We do same day pickup. Here's your check for that great offer. It is the future. It's. It's the present. And just the convenience of Carvana. Sorry to blow your mind. It's all good.
Bud Elliott
Happens all the time.
Chip Patterson
Sell your car the convenient way to Carvana. Pick up. Times may vary and fees may apply back here on the COVID 3 podcast as we turn our attention from Thursday and Friday to Saturday's games. We'll start chronologically here with some spotlight opportunities. How about Clemson on the road at Georgia Tech? The line has been dropping in Georgia Tech's favor. Do you agree with that? Is there also a total play here? Also a lot of movement there from open to where we're at right now. Who's got a lock?
Bud Elliott
We're going to do it.
Chip Patterson
Yeah.
Bud Elliott
I'm going from Mr. Anti Clemson to Mr. Gimme Clemson. Lay it. Yeah.
Chip Patterson
All right. You want to go first?
Bud Elliott
Sure. I don't think Tech's passing game is very good at all. I think if Clemson can focus in on a very diverse but still more one dimensional offense, it can probably have enough success slowing them down. Tex, defense has been relatively decent so far, but Clemson also faced the same scheme last year against Texas in Austin in, in the playoff and was able to have some nice success against them. I think this is the kind of game that Clemson rolls in there and wins. Unless you think just culturally, like they've got something going on. Right. And look, obviously maybe I'm not inside that locker room. I don't know. I know they had crazy big expectations and despite the fact that like they brought back the same team that lost four games and basically lost every, every game they played with similar athletes, they're expected to kind of run the table and be really good. I think Clemson is just a better athletic team here and I do think they're well coached. So like, I don't think Tom Allen all of a sudden can't call a defense. I don't, I don't think Riley all of a sudden can't coach offense. A slow start off a national TV late night, you know, emotional loss against Troy is, is, or you know, slow start against Troy after the LSU loss is not unheard of. Give me the Tigers.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I, this is a prop, like play the play the number, not the name situation for me, you know, if, if I go intangibles, if I go vibes, then yeah, that you, you don't want any part of it. You just want to let it sit. You want to watch it, you want to figure out learn something. But the getting down under a field goal sounds a little preposterous when the range of outcomes includes some big Clemson wins and then maybe a narrow Georgia Tech win. What I absolutely do not see in is Georgia Tech blowing Clemson's doors off or winning by double digits even. So it just, it seems like there are more ways that this goes where Clemson ends up not only winning, but possibly winning handily and definitely covering a spread that has now sunk all the way below a field goal that has.
Tom Fornelli
Like minus 125.
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
All right, I'll take that.
Danny Cannell
That was in play one time.
Tom Fornelli
No, no, not on spreads and totals it ain't.
Danny Cannell
Gotcha. I have a play.
Chip Patterson
All right.
Danny Cannell
Sometimes there's vibes you go to a place and you just like the venue. I think Kate Clubnik, he played well there last time. I think he had four touchdown passes last time he was in Atlanta. Second half of that game against Troy, they got things figured out. But you know what else? Buster Faultner can zyle up some plays. Haynes King had a nice week off. I'm going over over 52 in this game. We saw Georgia Tech do it to Georgia last year. This Clemson defense, I still have my doubts if they're, you know all their crack to be cracked up to be with all the guys they had, you know, TJ Parker, all the first round talent that's on there. They haven't been exactly as dominant as I thought yet. So I'll go over.
Bud Elliott
So you like Clemson in the game then? I assume.
Danny Cannell
Early in that direction maybe.
Bud Elliott
It's just hard for me to envision a game where this goes. Like if text having success their way on offense, they're going to want to play as slow as possible and hold the ball, you know. You know what I'm saying? If they got to play catch up, chuck it around a little more or just run their stuff but at increased tempo by the way for the contest. Yeah, like we're not taking 125s. FanDuel's number is better than, than playing a a like minus 3, minus 11. So just mathematical at least according to my stuff.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, yeah, you got -122 I think. But yeah, listen, we, we've, we, we got this cash Cash app wants integrity from us. That's why they're giving us a trophy to be able to hand out at the end of this. Okay, let's keep it rocking and rolling. The on to the 3:30pm Eastern Time slate. Georgia carries that winning streak in the series on the road it's been since our friend Josh Dobbs threw a Hail Mary into the end zone that we have seen the Volunteers come out on top. You know, Neyland Stadium obviously feeling good about their new quarterback, Tennessee Slight dog. This is another spread that has continued to adjust aggressively from Sunday's open who's got a lock?
Tom Fornelli
Give me Georgia -3 and a half just I think Kirby's had some success against this kind of offense in his past. I think the Georgia defense is very good. I think that Tennessee has looked good but Syracuse might be legitimately bad bad. So I don't know how much stock to put in that performance. And also let's not forget that the Syracuse offense had struggled to move the ball against Yukon was able to move the ball against Tennessee. So I think Georgia's offense will probably have a much better performance than what we've seen so far because we also have seen Kirby before in those early season games against Cupcakes just kind of not really go all that hard. So if I can get Georgia minus three and a half, I'm taking Georgia minus three and a half here.
Bud Elliott
I'm gonna go under on this. Give me under 50. I, I don't know that I'm going to see both offenses clicking against like by far the most athletic defense that both have seen. I have some questions about both offensive lines against both defensive lines. I also think both teams have backers who can really run. I was watching some of Tennessee last night on, on. On catapult with the all 22 and I was like these guys can scoot man. Like and, and Syracuse did score on them but it was, I don't, it wasn't garbage time but it wasn't like ever. Hey, Syracuse has a real chance in this this time like Tennessee kind of pounded them to open up. I, I don't think that both offenses will click here and I think you're going to need like decent games from both to get over here. I do think they can limit yards after the catch, especially on the underneath stuff with how fast they are.
Chip Patterson
Going.
Danny Cannell
To take the first half. Under 24 and a half kind of what you were saying. If they do get out in front and you see Tennessee start slinging it around. Mildly concerned about that so I'll go. I think it's a slower start for sure. I mean Georgia's offense, their fans have been calling out Bobo again. No surprise for a little bit too much sideways passing. I don't know if all of a sudden they're just going to get explosive and I Think. I think this is a big. We're gonna find out if Joey Aguilar truly is an upgrade over Nico, which he may be, but a lot of people are saying that. But I still think it's way too early to make that proclamation against this defense. I know it's at home, but I'm gonna go first half under.
Chip Patterson
I I lean Georgia here. I think Joey Aguilar might look like Kate Clubnik did in the opener last year, you know, Right. A little overwhelmed. A little overwhelmed. Things can be moving a little too fast. Like when you snap, hook it off the tee and then your punch out shot hits a tree and bounces right back to your feet. Then all of a sudden things are, oh gosh, things are moving quickly.
Danny Cannell
Yeah, got a lot of dad involvement in this game. I mean, now Joey Aguilar's out there thanking Nico for the trade, saying he's got it better, just mad. Will the dad stop giving quotes to the media? Both sides, like, no, kids play.
Bud Elliott
We're in the media. We need interesting stuff.
Tom Fornelli
Like said on yesterday's Big Game Breakdown, it feels like they're spiking the football a little early.
Bud Elliott
Yep. I really have no idea who wins.
Chip Patterson
I though I feel more confident about Georgia winning this football game. I don't know, we could be wrong about that. But the cha Cha slide offense might show that they can sue hops. Who hops? We were doing that on Big Game Breakdown. Slide to the left, slide to the right. Talking all the side to side passing.
Bud Elliott
How much. How much do you think we see George's quarterback legs?
Chip Patterson
Oh, I bet he a lot.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, I think a lot. Yeah.
Chip Patterson
I bet they'll sell out because basically any short yardage or red zone stuff, it's pretty much been one of their play calls. It's just most of them have been stocked and handing it off. I could see Tennessee selling out and be like, all right, gunner, run, hit the lane. You know, give them an opportunity to maybe get a. Get a body on them.
Bud Elliott
But this will be the game where we find out if those Georgia interior guys are as good as we think they might be. Because you almost have. You almost have to light box Tennessee, if they're as good as we think they are that they went up front and this thing stays low scoring.
Chip Patterson
Then on Saturday, it's once again big time at 3:30 Eastern with one of the most potent offenses in college football taking the field when us goes on the road against Purdue. We'll get you set for kickoff beginning at 2:30 with State Farm College Football today, the Big Ten is on CBS and Paramount. Plus, who's got a USC Purdue lock?
Tom Fornelli
I do. Okay, kinky. It's a little kinky.
Chip Patterson
Please tell me it's fourth quarter.
Tom Fornelli
No. God, no. I'm not. That's. That's not kinky. That's disgusting. It is a first quarter instead. Okay, give me Perdue first quarter plus six and a half. I talked about it when we were. When we've discussed this game this week. Talked. I mean, USC last year, when they went on the road, they struggled. They were much better at home than they were outside of home. That includes a loss to Maryland, which was one of the worst teams in the Big Ten last year. Purdue was one of the worst teams in the country last year. But this year's Purdue is better than last year's Purdue. Not to worry. I'm going to sit there and think they're going to go bowling or anything, but talent wise, they're better. Coaching wise, they're better. Just overall competency, they are better. Jaden Mayava, he took over as a starter late last year. He only had one road start, and that wasn't really a road start. It was at ucla. It was also his worst start as a USC Trojan. I think there's a very real chance that being in a road environment in front of fans who actually still have some reason to be excited about their team because they haven't lost. Lost yet. So there's still that kind of hope.
Bud Elliott
I would.
Tom Fornelli
All USC needs to do is not score on its opening drive, and I'm going to cover this easy. Even if they do score, I could still cover this. So I. I wouldn't be surprised if Purdue is very much in this game at the end of the first quarter, if they're very much in it in the end of the first half, and then maybe they fade in the second half.
Chip Patterson
How dare you kink shame. Fourth quarter. Give me the garbage time. All Stars USC in the fourth quarter, minus three and a half. This is a team that's been pouring it on late, boy. I mean, you don't get to just goose that FPI and those power ratings without keeping your foot on the gas. And I am taking into consideration Eastern time zone, their record, their history last year. I am also taking into consideration Barry Odom maybe having a good plan for stopping the quarterback that was on his roster when he was the UNLV head coach. So it's going to be halftime adjustments. It's going to be pouring it on late. It's going to be. We don't quit till that big drum's got a big old hole in it. Give me Trojans minus three and a half in the fourth quarter.
Danny Cannell
You guys are way overthinking this. Just give me the truth.
Bud Elliott
Brian Schuster in the chat. Bud and Tom. Do you care? What do you guys care what you've done to this family, man?
Danny Cannell
Give me the Trojans late, before it goes above the three touchdowns. I'm gonna lay 20 and a half. You mentioned playing on the road. Does this even count in West Lafayette? No offense to our maker. Nobody's intimidated by the biggest damn drum in the world. No one's intimidated by that. Jaden Maeve has got a year of experience under his belt. Or a half a year of experience. He'll be fine. I think USC is legit this season. I think this is another big win for him. I'm laying them.
Tom Fornelli
It's gonna be 62, 000 people in those stands.
Danny Cannell
Danny there will be so nice and friendly, too.
Chip Patterson
So nice.
Bud Elliott
They are.
Chip Patterson
They're great people.
Bud Elliott
They're awesome. Yeah, we are.
Danny Cannell
Oh, you know what the difference is? We got the big difference. Do you see? Lincoln Riley has completely changed his mindset on traveling. Because remember when we asked him first year in the Big Ten, Lincoln Riley's like, ah, it's just an extra movie. Remember? That was exact in the line.
Chip Patterson
Yeah.
Danny Cannell
They are doing all the science now. They're trying to eat differently. He's going on bigger planes. Like they have total. Like he's making a big deal out of it. So now they're prepared.
Chip Patterson
Well, Danny, when you lose at 4 and 8, Maryland real quick.
Bud Elliott
Exactly.
Danny Cannell
That's the difference in this game.
Chip Patterson
Listen, thank you. Thank you. We. I've always thought Lincoln Riley is a sharp guy, you know, and he can be a little stubborn. Not that stubborn. You know, lose at Maryland, you start to rethink a lot of life decisions, including what you do for travel. All right, let's keep it rocking and rolling. This is again, we're used to our twelves, our three 30 Easterns. CW, 430. Okay, I just want to remind everybody, you gotta find cw and it's going to be a little bit off schedule, so. CW, 430, Hard Rock Stadium, USF at Miami. Who's got a lock?
Danny Cannell
Give it to him. What do you got?
Chip Patterson
Okay, what did I say, Danny? I said 11:57, 11:58.
Danny Cannell
Oh, you did.
Chip Patterson
59 midnight Cinderella. That's a problem now. Let's go. But. But following this up with an acknowledgment that defending 17 and a hook across the final 15, 20, 25 minutes, that could be a little dicey. I have found the spot that I like for the better team to start strong against a team in its second straight road game. Give me the Miami Hurricanes first half minus nine and a half.
Bud Elliott
Yeah. Lock Gray.
Chip Patterson
All right.
Bud Elliott
Tom talked about this on the pot. First of all, I think Go Less is doing a hell of a job at usf, like for sure. And those guys play hard. They really, you could tell like they believe in what the hell they're doing. They, they have a great commitment in what they're doing. They've also been extremely reliant on explosive plays so far this year. Miami's defensive line has kind of been a revelation. Bane looks completely healthy. And who is that dude who was kind of sawed off who played for South Carolina and he played for the Chargers for like a long time in the NFL?
Chip Patterson
Melvin Ingram.
Tom Fornelli
Ingram, yes.
Bud Elliott
That's who I think that, that's who I think Ruben Bane is.
Danny Cannell
I think his lower half is the.
Bud Elliott
Ability to be like that thick.
Danny Cannell
Yeah.
Bud Elliott
Like how many guys can play, can play a stand up position and then also like kind of go down and play three tech on, on some odd pass rush downs. Like that's just not normal. I think their interior is really good. I like the Justin Scott kid they got out of Chicago. I think that they are going to give the US offensive line some problems.
Chip Patterson
Problems.
Bud Elliott
And USF has also started really slow in first half of games this year. I don't like take a lot away from that, but I think it's potentially worth noting. Miami played a lot of safeties back against the Irish. I think that's why you saw Notre Dame throw so many little short east west passes. Got a tackle. Well, because guys like Keyshawn Singleton and those dudes can really scoot. But I think they can force USF to drive and I think that they can, they can block usf. So I would agree with you there.
Tom Fornelli
I, I'm playing this in a similar vein, but I'm just kind of taking Miami's offense out of it. Give me South Florida's team total under 20 and a half.
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Danny Cannell
I'll go ahead and we could all win. We could all be winners here. But I'm gonna, I'm gonna back the Bulls in this spot. I don't think there's another threat of an upset. I think the best thing that happened to Mario Cristobal was what happened in Gainesville last week. If there was ever a thought that they would overlook this team. They're. And does Mario care about the score at the end of the game? If anything, he gets a little bit more conservative. And when you've got a dynamic, explosive offense on the other side of the ball, you might get a little bit conservative late. Try to go to that four minute drill a little bit earlier than most. I'll take the Bulls and the points. I think Miami wins, but I think the Bulls cover.
Chip Patterson
What was it, 21 to 6 when Miami scored at the end of the first half against Notre Dame, came out, took the opening kickoff down and it just. It seemed like they thought the game was over. I got scar. Yeah. Kind of got scars from. From watching how that played out. Byron Brown, by the way, A school record 240 passes without an interception. Jinx both of these teams now.
Danny Cannell
It's definitely happening.
Tom Fornelli
Take me over on Byron's interception.
Chip Patterson
Prop kids.
Bud Elliott
He does. He does not like, you could say he holds it, but he does not put the ball in danger a lot.
Chip Patterson
No, he would rather put his body in danger, bud, than put that.
Bud Elliott
Yeah. Yeah.
Chip Patterson
Coaches in 1980 love it. That's right. There's only. What is it, Danny? There's only. But so many bad things that can happen when you throw the ball versus run the ball.
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
Yeah. Okay. Then we get into a very busy night slate. Among the games that will have our attention, Texas A M trip up to South Bend. Notre Dame, second game of the season. This is their home opener. Aggies are two zero. Who's got a lock?
Tom Fornelli
All right, I got one Notre Dame team total under 28 and a half. I don't know who wins the game. I just don't feel like it's going to be that high scoring. But I could also see A M maybe. You know, I just. I feel better about Notre Dame not scoring a ton of points. Like, even if they win, I feel like it's a lower scoring game. If they lose, it's because they didn't score enough. That's just how I feel like this one's gonna go.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I'm. I got. I'm seeing it a little differently, but we're not gonna lock fight this. I'm gonna go over 49 and a half. I think that Texas A&M allowing UTSA and Utah State to move the ball is a concern here. And I. Just as slow as the start was for Notre Dame, it was like with each additional possession they seemed to get a little bit better. You know, I think that Miami's defense was being hurt by the fact that the offense was just run, run, run, punt. Then they get it back, and all of a sudden Notre Dame's like, okay, now we're. Now we're starting to get a little bit more comfortable. Now we're starting to get a little bit of a rhythm. It's a lot of time to put in some work. I think. I think that both these teams are. I think Texas A and M will be able to hit a couple of explosive plays. You know, find the same ways that. Find the same ways that Miami was able to get some good matchup advantages against this. This Notre Dame defense. I think Texas A and M using Craver, using Concepcion, might be able to do the same. And then, yeah, I think Notre Dame's gonna be able to move the football because I think they're better than Utah State and UTSA. So I'll go over 49 and a half.
Danny Cannell
Let the children sing.
Chip Patterson
All right.
Danny Cannell
I'm there with you. I lean towards Notre Dame and you talk about backs against the wall, have to win to keep your playoff hopes alive and their second game of the season. I think Marcel Reed's playing better. He did struggle somewhat on the road last season, but he is playing a lot better. He's a dynamic playmaker with his legs. I think Jeremiah Love you're going to see featured in this game. I think that was something that Marcus Freeman regrets, not getting him involved enough against Miami. And I think they'll be able to run the football against this defense for Texas A and M. Even though Mike Elko is a great defensive mind, I think it's going to be a little bit. A little bit higher scoring. I think we could all win. We could all win this one. Still.
Chip Patterson
Nothing, Bud?
Bud Elliott
No, I. I think there's, like. I just don't have an edge in this. I think. I think the number is, if I had to play this, I would try to find one of those sevens on A M. I don't know that I trust Notre Dame to win by margin, but I don't know what their play is going to be. Right. Like, one data.
Chip Patterson
Like, we got one game on a Sunday night in Hard Rock Stadium. That's all we've got on this team.
Bud Elliott
Elko has traditionally been a denied the big play at all cost type guy, which to me does suggest a heavy run script from Notre Dame and Jeremiah Love, which. Then the question becomes, like, how long do they. Do they allow that? Do they come down? You know, do they, like, are they able to hit explosives with Jeremiah Love against those looks? I don't Know, A's got some young D linemen who do have some juice. It's just, it's been against overmatched competition so far. So I. We have to see, like, Notre Dame's offensive line is a step down currently from where they were last year. I don't know how big of a step down.
Chip Patterson
Yep.
Tom Fornelli
I'm not gonna fight you guys on it because I kind of already am, but it feels like you two don't remember last year's game.
Chip Patterson
I just think they're different.
Bud Elliott
Oh, I do. Last year's game was great for me.
Chip Patterson
Gross.
Bud Elliott
That was. That was a hell of a game for me. Yeah, I watched it.
Danny Cannell
That was also Connor Wegman, too.
Tom Fornelli
It was, but it was also Leonard.
Bud Elliott
Like, looking fat on game day. I remember, I remember the group text like, bro, he looks fat. And it was like, I'm keeping my under position. I'm gonna get off this. Get off the CM position.
Chip Patterson
Was that Oz the Mentalist blowing his mind?
Bud Elliott
Yeah. I was like, bro, loose T shirt would have been. Been the smarter choice. But now he's in shape for Houston. I'm on him Thursday night or Friday night.
Chip Patterson
Get your, get your, your quad boxes. Get your multi screens out. Lots going on in this slate. Among the other options in the evening, it's going to be Death Valley at night and Billy Napier's Florida Gators walking into Tiger Stadium at night. Oh, boy, lots to chew on here. There's the football of it all. There's the narratives. But right now, the only thing we're asking from y' all are locks. Who's got a lock? Oh, give me the Gators. Yeah, I'm just sitting here. I, I did not even intentionally do this, but I'm sitting here holding a little alligator. So. No, I had it on the board. This is, this is a. Wouldn't it be hilarious? I don't, I don't think Florida is going to pull the outright upset, but the idea that they would absolutely be hanging in this game. There are still some availability of key players that we would have to check on. But as we're sitting here firing on it in the 11 o' clock hour Eastern time, I'm going to say may. Maybe the availability updates as they come on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, maybe. Maybe they do break that way. But DJ Lagway has not been good. And if there's a time for him to show up and show out, man, your back's against the wall right now. So give me the Gators. You get seven and a half.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, right?
Chip Patterson
Yep. Florida plus Seven and a half.
Tom Fornelli
A lot of Kumbaya on this show today.
Bud Elliott
For now, I don't necessarily love Florida's pass rushers, but I, I do think that if Kayla Banks is back and healthy in the middle, especially if LSU is forced to play Chester at center, that that could be problems all night. I, I don't think that what we heard about the LSU offense in camp really struggling with the offensive line is just magically fixed. Clemson did get pressure at times. I thought Nussmire did a great job to basically check them out out of some bad stuff and, and really beat them with his mind as much as with his arm. I, I think Florida here is, is a little bit of value.
Tom Fornelli
I, I'm on a play that's could work for all three of us because it would imply that it'll be a closer, lower scoring game. I'm on the under 47 and a half. I just, I, I don't think I haven't been all that impressed by Florida's offense. I haven't been all that impressed by LSU's offense. I think LSU's defense has been very good and I think Florida's defense is probably its strength right now too, and especially against the LSU offensive line that for me to this point hasn't looked very good. So I think both offenses are going to find it to be tough sledding under 47 and a half.
Chip Patterson
Gator. Danny, any thoughts? You staying away?
Danny Cannell
I so no, I was looking at possibly a first half under. It's under 24, so I don't love that. I'd probably lean with you guys because I do think people are writing off the Gators too early. Lagway has struggled and now he's on the road. But I think all your guys like, I like all your plays. I'm just gonna avoid this one. I don't have a great feel for anything disciplined.
Tom Fornelli
Danny.
Chip Patterson
Coming up on the other side, we continue with our week three locks by opening up the whole board and money line, sprinkles and more nukes. Possibility means you have a chance. Passion opens the door to all possibilities. When I feel like anything's possible, I feel kind of giddy. I want to be an astronaut, artist, an actress, to be another country.
Bud Elliott
All I need is a backpack and.
Chip Patterson
A pair of shoes and I'll find a way. I'm able to do anything I set my mind to. I've never felt like more things are possible than right now.
Bud Elliott
In the right shoes, anything's possible.
Chip Patterson
Dsw Countless shoes at bragworthy prices. Imagine the possibilities.
Bud Elliott
This episode is brought to you by Jack Daniels.

Back here on the COVID 3 podcast, let's break out the guitar and the campfire for a little Kumbaya. As Tom has mentioned, here's what we got so far. Bud is on Houston -4 and a half, Clemson -3, Miami first half -9 and a half the Georgia, Tennessee under 50 and Florida plus 7 and a half. I've got USC fourth quarter -3 and a half, Clemson -3rd, Miami first half -9 & a half, Texas A&M, Notre Dame over 49 and a half and Florida plus 7 and a half. Danny's got Houston -4 and a half. The over 52 in Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Tennessee first half under 24 and a half Texas A&M, Notre Dame Over 49 and a half, USF plus 17 and a half, USC -20 and a half and Tom's got Georgia -3 and a half, Purdue first quarter plus 6 and a half USF team total under 20 and a half. Notre Dame team total under 28 and a half and Florida, LSU under 47 and a half. Whole Saturday board is available as last week's winner. Danny, you have the honors on the tee box. Where would you like to go?
Danny Cannell
I'm very curious to see if we get some Kumbaya Kumbaya here because I think we all like this team. I know we like somebody that's on their staff and I think they might be the better football team. Gimme Diego Pavia and the Doors going on the road to Columbia after they just went to Blacksburg and they showed up there and I know it was dicey early. I don't think this one's dicey at all. I think they're better football team. You might hear about this team later in the show, but if I can for these purposes get four and a half points, I will take the Doors here. They're almost reminiscent of last year's South Carolina team, a team that caught a lot of people by surprise. I think they might be in that conversation later in the year to have one of their best seasons we've seen under Clark Lee. Give me the doors against the Gamecocks.
Bud Elliott
Did this Open seven for real?
Danny Cannell
Yeah, I think it was definitely six and a half. I don't know if I'd ever.
Tom Fornelli
I don't know if it ever hit seven. Yeah.
Bud Elliott
One 1:50pm here on on spot odds 150. 04 open seven had lasted for 15 seconds.
Chip Patterson
All right, can we go ahead? Let's see who, who else is on it. One. Just me. Okay. I just.
Bud Elliott
What, what are you guys using for home field here? Like, like, I, I think Williams Williams Bryce is a good home field. Yeah, I think it's a solid three. I mean basically at current price, we, what do we think? Like, what do we think the difference is in power rating on these teams? What are we making this really?
Danny Cannell
I think Vanderbilt's defense. I think Vanderbilt's defense might be the better defense and I know Diego Pavi has been the better quarterback. Lenore Sellers has not played great early. So I think defense travels and I want the better quarterback.
Chip Patterson
They can't run the football if it's not Lenora Sellers.
Bud Elliott
So the question becomes can Vanderbilt bait them into. Into handing it off?
Chip Patterson
Right.
Bud Elliott
Because the Hokies did. And then still Sellers pulled it. Sometimes it was like, yeah, numbers are not my favorite. But still watch this. And he's, he is so good running the ball. Man, that scares me a little bit.
Danny Cannell
I mean we're gonna be over by the end of September. Not October. We're over by the end of September.
Bud Elliott
I don't think it's crazy to argue that Poppy is a better college quarterback than.
Chip Patterson
Right.
Bud Elliott
Oh, like I know the chat is taking offense to that statement, but I, I, relative to what he does for that offense.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I, I don't think that Vanderbilt's defense is going to like, they might rip off. They might perfectly scheme up an explosive player too, but I just don't think that they're going to get carved up. I just don't think that South Carolina's offense has been dynamic enough to. To really get got like that. This is going to be a dog fight of a game and maybe home field does end up playing a big difference. But Danny, to your point, I'm just, I'm looking at four and a half and there's a lot of results in this game, including Vanderbilt does it on the field outright where I'm thinking four and a half gives me, gives me a winning ticket. All right, let's see. Tom, where would you like to go?
Tom Fornelli
Back to the well. Oregon minus 27 and a half at Northwestern. Don't care about body clocks. Don't care about any of that crap. All I care about is that Oregon is playing a team that it is much better than. And I. I don't know if there's going to be much of a home field advantage for Northwestern playing along the lakefront there. Maybe, sure, the wind coming off could. Could harm them, but they're also from the Pacific Northwest. They're fine. They're used to it. There's a pond right across the street from me. There's ducks in it. They don't care about this weather. It doesn't bother them. I just think that this is a team that across the board is better than Northwestern at every single position that will be on the field and that it will play out that way over four quarters just like it did last week. I just. I still think the market is very much undervaluing what this Oregon team is it.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, it might be cheap. I do think there's some chance the Northwestern DBs, if they're healthy, can run with Oregon's receivers like, those guys look pretty good.
Tom Fornelli
Run after them.
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
Yeah. All right. Spiritually, I'm. I'm with you, Tom. This is kind of how I see it, but I've. I've decided to, you know, have some fun. Okay. Get a little spicy here. How about Oregon's second half? Minus 13 and a half.
Bud Elliott
So who do they play next week?
Chip Patterson
Civil War is coming up. Civil War.
Bud Elliott
Is this the. Is this the. Actually, Austin Nova. Saad is going to be allowed to check it around.
Chip Patterson
I just. I think that if you want to say slow start, if you want to say Northwestern has something up their sleeves, they just do not have the. They do not have the dudes to be able to hang for 60 minutes with this team. And I think that Dan Lanning's. The Dan Lanning death metal super compilation says that they're still going to try to score two touchdowns in the second half. And I don't see Northwestern's offense scoring two touchdowns after halftime.
Tom Fornelli
Just.
Danny Cannell
I'm with lock. Agreement with Tom.
Chip Patterson
Okay, give me.
Danny Cannell
Let the children sing on that one. I mean, I know the big noon kickoff show is going to be there, and that crowd's going to be ruckus. I mean, they're going to be extremely loud. I told Chip this the other day. Somebody had a great tweet because Northwestern, all they did was put out a tweet and it said, ready for another week at our place with like an emoji of a wave on the lake. And everybody's like, don't let Dan Lanning See this, like, don't give him any added mojo. Like you don't want to piss him off. But I think this team is on a mission. I. I think they're still upset about the way they've been forgotten about. After running the table as a Big Ten champion. I think Dante Moore really feels comfortable in that system. I don't think this is a road environment that scares you that much. I think it's a big win for the Ducks.
Tom Fornelli
Dan did say he's very excited to play in this stadium. He was very excited to see it. He's never been there before. So I'm just.
Chip Patterson
I mean I just.
Tom Fornelli
Dan's never played on a practice field before.
Bud Elliott
He's really looking forward to it.
Chip Patterson
I. Again, we. Our biases are our experiences. It is really fun to have Dan Lanning in college football right now. He's doing it for me. This is. This is good stuff. I like.
Tom Fornelli
Does. Does Gus hit him with the decorian Maserati more?
Bud Elliott
That would be great. That's funny.
Chip Patterson
Let's see. Check that one, bud. Where would you like to go? Oh yeah, bud, where would you like to go?
Bud Elliott
We are going to go to Oxford and Chip, play the music.
Chip Patterson
Whoa. Oh, that one.
Bud Elliott
Well, thanks to a doink field goal in the first half, I had another tough loss this week. I've not read all this, by the way, for Ole Miss this week. I think the signs are pointing towards Austin Simmons being limited or not playing. He's listed as probable on the official injury report, by the way, but I have no real answer to that question. Simmons has been in a boot all week and Chambless has been taking the starting reps. Also, the line has dropped from 12 and a half to seven. Although it's actually seven and a half out there. A couple spots which I looked up.
Chip Patterson
I'm aware. I am aware of that, bud. That's. Yeah.
Bud Elliott
I am also monitoring the situation closely. So even though the signs are pointing like Simmons will not play, I don't think we will have a final answer until the game. That makes this game hard to handicap. But I will give it a try. If Chambly starts, look for a lot more run plays and design QB runs. And while the line has fallen to 7, the total has gone up 61 and a half. And with a run heavy offense, which is not an Ole Miss offensive line specialty, we could see a slower start to this game for Ole Miss. So if Simmons does not play, give me the first half under at 31 and a half. I'm. I need to Text. I need to text him back because I feel like this is a conditional thing but like you know, we're just going to give it to him. All right, it's on the board.
Tom Fornelli
I don't care if he plays or not. It's on the board.
Bud Elliott
Which from a like X and O standpoint I would kind of wonder if Arkansas tries to do the same thing to Ole Miss that they did to Tennessee last year. A lot. A lot more run funnel, you know. Yeah. Now he has two plays this week. Since I will come back to this Ole Miss game in a second but let's give it a second play here. Since there's a lot of uncertainty around Ole Miss pick this week, I will give submit a better pick for pick two. Give me Vandy plus four and a half. I watched both these teams play. Green Tech South Carolina pulled away thanks to a punt return for touchdown and a 60 yard pass. Touchdown. The game was pretty close otherwise. On the other hand, Vandy beat the group emoji out of Vatek on the road. That was a physical performance where Vatek eventually tapped out. I love this line when it came out over a touchdown but I still think there will be a brawl and very close game. I will take the four and a half to the mosey to the moji lock emoji.
Chip Patterson
I mean I'm gonna take Arkansas plus a seven and a half, you know.
Bud Elliott
You want to go first for me?
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I mean I just, I, I did not get my eyes on Ole Miss Kentucky during the at least like a lot. I was just sort of checking in on it throughout Saturday. Took some time this week to go back and watch it just was not impressed with Ole Miss. I thought that a lot of Kentucky's inability to pull off that upset with some Kentucky self inflicted wounds, saw some tough penalties by Ole Miss, saw the defense, you know, give some stuff up in the middle of the field and the offense just wasn't crispy. And you mentioned the Austin Simmons getting his ankles taped after the first drive, coming back in and kind of up and down. I just, I, I think that while Arkansas has not had to play very tough competition, man, they just, they seem to have, they seem to know who they are and what they do well. So I, I like them especially at seven and a half.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, I, I think that their offense is just in such a good rhythm right now. The offensive line looks pretty solid defensively. I, I don't think Arkansas has a lot of defensive talent but I do think Taylor Green with Petrino is a combo that's going to score on most of the teams in the sec.
Danny Cannell
Can I get one in quick before it moves?
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Danny Cannell
No, and it's very determined. If it's still there, can I still get Bama 20 and a half. I see one book that has it that looks pretty reputable.
Bud Elliott
Yeah. Yeah.
Danny Cannell
Okay, let me lay them. I'm gonna lay it with Bama. Danny o', Neill, backup quarterback for Wisconsin going in there. The Bama quarterbacks combined for almost a perfect game last week against Ulm. I think they're getting their mojo. Ryan Williams is back as well. Plus I think the defense is playing a little pissed off. I think bama rolls in this one a little bit. Worried about Luke Fickle in the aftermath if it isn't close. I think this is an easy cover for the Tide.
Bud Elliott
I mean they, they do seem to play a lot better against conventional pro style offenses. I think Bama's like edge discipline against stuff where they're at like actual option elements is. Is pretty crappy and we saw that against fsu. We saw that last year against Vandy, against South Carolina, against Oklahoma when they broke out a lot of run game stuff with Jackson Arnold. Against the traditional drop back type stuff, Bama's been pretty good. Yep.
Chip Patterson
I was also looking at Alabama first half -11 and a half on that one. It was a rough. I mean just. I'm gonna stay away from it. But my, my sort of angle here was that Wisconsin's 42 to 10 win, as I said yesterday, Danny was lipstick on a pig. I mean they. That they started. Danny o' Neill was not great throwing the football in the first half. Offense was not great. He had a pick right before halftime. So we'll see, we'll see if they see what they've got in terms of being able to. To start fast. So 20 and a half. Great call, Mikey. 20 half is the locked spread on splash. So if you like Danny's pick, you can, you can throw it in as part of your splash. I had a nice response last week. Five on my splash picks you wanted. That's how you can jump. I was down in the 4000s. Now I'm up in like the 1200s. I know we've as we mentioned on Monday, we've got a lot of. A lot of participants that are still perfect on the year. Well, we'll give you our official splash leaderboard update on Mondays upon further review.
Bud Elliott
I. It's gone now but like I, if you. If it comes back just for the audience. I did play a little Wisconsin under 13 and a half. Team total.
Chip Patterson
Team total. Is it down to 12 and a half?
Bud Elliott
No, it's. It's more juice now.
Chip Patterson
Okay.
Bud Elliott
But like, if it comes back for some reason. Yeah, I liked it.
Chip Patterson
Richmond plus 21 and a half.
Bud Elliott
I haven't looked at the extra board this week. Who we got.
Chip Patterson
Richmond's playing the University of North Carolina Tar Heels on in Keenan Memorial Stadium. And. And thanks to our friends, you know, Jeff Sagar, and we can get the combined power ratings. Let me just tell you right now that this, this particular team, the Richmond Spiders, would be favored by five points over the Charlotte 49ers on a neutral field. And I saw that came against Charlotte and that was a turnover and a missed field goal. Away from being a little hairy, I think. Hey, hey. This is a serious comment, but I am joking a little. Do you know how I know that there's a lot of NFL influence on this staff? Because they are. They've got some preseason ass protocols with this North Carolina football team. They are mixing up their offensive linemen. They are throwing out all kinds of personnel groupings. Like it is throwing everything at the wall just to see what works. Like, you know what? I know that that worked really well on that last drive. Let's not do any of that on the next possession right here. So they like find something that works in the run game, then just don't go back to it. You know, it's. It is very much them following up on their off season promise that they will be a better team at the end of the season than they are at the beginning of the season. Because I don't think that they. I think they are very much still figuring things out with this group. And when you have 70 new players and a bunch of them who showed up in the spring portal window and a bunch of them who just showed up in June or July, like, they are treating this like preseason football. And I think against an FCS team as a heavy favorite, they will continue to treat this like a player evaluation period. And that kind of approach is not how you cover the spread. Especially against a team that would be favored by five. Against the team that you beat by 17 last week.
Bud Elliott
I like that.
Chip Patterson
No, Nobody wants to go lock it? No. Cool.
Tom Fornelli
No, I'm good.
Bud Elliott
I don't like locking up stuff I haven't actually looked at. But like, that makes a lot of.
Chip Patterson
Sense also if we want to do North Carolina first quarter because apparently their first drive is the, like the Oregon Ducks offense, you know, like if you only isolate yards per play on the first drive of the game. North Carolina's got one of the best offenses in the country. Unfortunately, there is the second, third, fourth, fifth, and so on and so forth. But yeah, let me. Let me go ahead and say that preseason protocols on Family Day in Chapel Hill lead to us being 21, 20 or under on the final margin.
Bud Elliott
I like it.
Chip Patterson
Let's see, Danny, where you want to go?
Danny Cannell
Let me find the Duck. Not the Ducks, but the Duck that is the Stanford Cardinal.
Chip Patterson
Oh, man.
Danny Cannell
Austin College. This thing's still number two. Boston College. Dylan Lonergan looks pretty good, my man. I don't know. There hasn't been an announcement made yet if they're still going to go with Gold Branson, but he helped me last week. They might switch to the former quarterback at Mater D, my favorite high school, Elijah Brown, that they might make the switch to. I still got to see it to believe it. I think Boston College is pretty good. I'm a little bit worried about a trip to Palo Alto cross country after that tough double overtime loss. But this is where you get right. This is where Bill O' Brien gets right. So I will lay the 20 and a half with Boston College. I'm going back to the well until.
Tom Fornelli
There'S 13 and a half.
Danny Cannell
Oh, yeah, I was under a key number. I was.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, I mean, I will give you 20 and a half.
Danny Cannell
I knew it was a key number. I just couldn't remember which one it is. Even better. Maybe play the alt line if they still go flatter.
Chip Patterson
Let's just throw them all out there. That is your atm, you know. Hey, Danny, that's your player's card. You know, you just hand them that and you give them chips. Oh, man. Yep, that's Faden Stanford. Extremely profitable. How many has everybody got left?
Tom Fornelli
I have one.
Bud Elliott
Pretty good number.
Chip Patterson
Pretty good. All right, Danny, Bud, rip unload.
Bud Elliott
All right. Music, please.
Chip Patterson
Oh, baby, baby.
Bud Elliott
It's time for Sicko mode.
Chip Patterson
Let's go.
Bud Elliott
I'm a little bit lower on some of the teams in the bottom of the Sun Belt. If things go wrong, they could be like you, Massey. That's kind of like Sicko mode of a sicko mode. All right, we get. We're gonna rapid fire these Sicko modes going back to the Tulsa well.
Chip Patterson
Oh, God.
Bud Elliott
Fourteen and a half. I. I think they can really run on defense. We are gonna take UAB -11 and a half. I just think this principle like they can actually score and I think Akron might be score so bad on offense that it doesn't really matter who they play. Right. Like Akron couldn't score against Wyoming. You know, they didn't score against Nebraska. I think UAB can get enough scores to. To cover the 11 and a half there. We are going to go and take the under in two games that have pretty big spreads. And these two teams play each other next week at 11 o' clock local time. So we're going to take under 61 and a half in Texas Tech. Okay. And we're going to take under 48 and a half in Wyoming. Utah away from home typically is a different team, scoring wise. I also don't really think that they're going to want to run Dampier a ton here and his legs are a major part of that offense. So give me those two unders. I feel like that's kind of sick.
Chip Patterson
It's gonna be windy in Laramie. Now, to be fair, 10 miles an hour in Laramie is like a light breeze anywhere else in the country. This does not qualify. But the fact that we're in Laramie and you took an under, I figured I'd at least, you know, warm up the button blow.
Bud Elliott
Could be some rain, by the way. Could be rain.
Chip Patterson
A lot of running the dagum football.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, correct.
Chip Patterson
Love that. Let's see. How about. I think. Oh, next week. You want to talk about looking ahead to next week, bud? Next week I do. These, these high, these, like, these super confident Auburn Tigers are going to be going on the road to play Oklahoma. You know, like, and especially you started with the win against Baylor. You know, big SEC open. I mean, all you got to do is take care of little old South Al. You don't need to worry about little old South Al. Jaguars ain't nothing to a Tiger. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Except that South Alabama team was just in a dog fight last week against Tulane. I think they can play some football and I just, I think that 24 and a hook is a lot of points to trust. Hugh Freeze in a sandwich spot right before a big road game because there's this history that Hughes got, you know, when you're just. When you're just. You're looking over for somebody who's not overwhelmingly tall, he looks over a lot of stuff. You know, he just looks right over it. And unfortunately, I just think that South Alabama team, I think they're getting disrespected right here. Give me the jags plus 24 and a half.
Bud Elliott
You know, you like, think about it next time you got a road trip coming up, right? We all, we all go on the road for work. You're Thinking about that round you're gonna play like you're probably not gonna get it in on the road, right? Like, gotta. Gotta make time. Gotta check the. The forecast. Gotta find some time to play, keep the game in shape. So focus.
Chip Patterson
I think I've got one. Maybe I actually. Yeah, I've got one left.
Tom Fornelli
I have one left as well.
Chip Patterson
Oh, I've got two left. Nope. Maybe one. I think we overreacted on Cal. Minnesota. I know it's a cross country trip, but do we. Do we get two and a half?
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, I can get you two and a half.
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
Row the boat. I think Minnesota is a good football team. And while we can be very, very excited about the quarterback prospect that is Jaron Kiave, Saga Polotelli there is the rest of the team. And I think Minnesota's got a lot of advantages in the tail of the tape here. And so I will go Gophers to pick up a big win on the road. All right, now I think I'm good.
Tom Fornelli
I will take for my final lock of this week, a team getting four and a half points at home against the Service Academy. Give me Utah State +4 and a half against Air Force Bronco.
Chip Patterson
Big bad boys, Broncos. Big bad boys being disrespected here.
Bud Elliott
Yep.
Chip Patterson
All right, Danny, you tapped out.
Danny Cannell
I'm done, bud.
Bud Elliott
No, one more. All right, I am laying the three and a half with Memphis.
Chip Patterson
Prove it Saturday for the Tigers.
Bud Elliott
I think Lewis is a pretty damn good quarterback. Yeah, I know Georgia State gave them some problems, but I think Georgia State. I mean, I was on Georgia State. Season win total over. I think that's actually like a decent football team. And obviously Memphis still, you know, still pulled away. I. Troy's improved, but I'm not sure they're improved that much. I'm gonna go ahead and take Memphis here and lay it.
Chip Patterson
Gary Parrish spent the week calling out the CBS Sports 136 for disrespecting the Memphis Tigers. I say, all right, GP get your get. Get your boys in gear. You know, handle business against a team that you are better than. Then, yeah, we'll. We'll start to rethink where this team fits inside, inside of our ballots. Don't hate that right there.
Tom Fornelli
Was it the Chattanooga or Georgia State win that really pushed Gary over the edge?
Chip Patterson
Well, he was like, he. What he found is that they were 2 and oh, and they had dropped from like 61 to 63 in the CBS Sports 136.
Bud Elliott
Massive drop.
Chip Patterson
For somebody who ranks teams every damn day of the college basketball season. I think he would have had more forgiveness for the process of trying to. I mean, we don't rank 26 teams. We rank 136 teams. Okay. Sometimes you don't fall. Sometimes you get jumped by a team that plays a team with a pulse.
Tom Fornelli
You know, that's actually a good idea. We should talk to our college basketball editors about making Gary rank every Division 1 basketball.
Chip Patterson
That is a good idea.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, I'd be interested. I feel like you're eating the whole hog. Everybody really wants to know who you like down ballot.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, I would read the hell out of that.
Chip Patterson
I would. I would read it. I would share it. You know what? That is content that. Like that. That's content that cuts through, you know, every single team ranked all season long. Every day I see it. All right, Great call for Keith. I don't have a Backyard Brawl lock. I don't. We talked about a little bit in Big Game Breakdown. The game deserves respect. It will get my attention. But in this section of picks, predictions and locks. Nope. No. Thank you. If it was in Pittsburgh, I would lay the points with the Panthers, but if it was in Pittsburgh, I would have to lay a bigger number than I do right now. Not going to be stunned if West Virginia pulls something out because I don't think Pitt is that much better to avoid getting got. But they are the better football team and the healthier football team right now. And those two things are pretty important. So. All right, let's review what we've got for week three. Bud's got Houston minus four and a half. Clemson minus three, Miami first half minus nine and a half. Georgia, Tennessee under 50, Florida plus seven and a half, Arkansas plus seven and a half. Tulsa plus 14 and a half. UAB minus 11 and a half. The under 60 one and a half in Oregon State. Texas Tech the under 48 and a half in Utah. Wyoming, Memphis minus three and a half. I've got USC fourth quarter minus three and a half. Clemson minus three. Miami first half, minus nine and a half. Texas A M, Notre Dame over 49 and a half. Florida plus seven and a half. Arkansas plus seven and a half. Vandy plus four and a half. Oregon second half minus 13 and a half Richmond plus 20 one and a half South Alabama plus 24 and a half. Minnesota minus two and a half. Danny's got Houston minus four & a half. Clemson, Georgia Tech over 52. The Georgia, Georgia, Tennessee first half, under 24 and a half Texas A&M, Notre Dame over 49 ½. USF plus 17 and a half Oregon minus 27 and a half Vanderbilt plus four and a half USC minus 20 and a half Alabama minus 20 and a half Boston College - 13 and a half Times on Georgia - three and a half Purdue first quarter plus seven and a half USF team total under 20 and a half Notre Dame team total under 28 and a half Florida LSU under 47 and a half Oregon - 27 and a half and Utah State plus four and a half and that lock segment was sponsored by Cash App. As you heard me say at the top of the show, new Cash App users can use our code to get free money. Witness the fight the boxing world has been waiting for on Netflix. Canel Alvarez and Terence Crawford face off for the first time in their legendary careers for the Super Middleweight Championship in Las Vegas. The winner will walk away the greatest of their era. Watch Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, Saturday, September 13th at 9pm Eastern, 6pm Pacific Standard Time live only on Netflix. Back here on the COVID 3 podcast and this Moneyline Sprinkles segment is brought to you by FanDuel Sportsbook. Make every moment more. All right, last week in the Sprinkles, I see some green on the board. Bud coming through. Texas State is a winner at plus 160. I got Mississippi State at plus 210. UNLV plus 120 comes home for Danny and Tom. Also on Mississippi State. That means that for our season long Sprinkles competition, Tom's in the lead two and two plus 1.35 units. Second place is Danny two and five but down just 1.95 units. Bud in third one and four at minus 2.4 units. And Chip bringing it up two and six at minus 2.65 units. All right, well let's start the sprinkling. Where I don't. Let's, let's go. Let's go with season Long Tom, where would you like to do?
Tom Fornelli
I will start with a Mac. Home dog. Give me bowling green plus 195 at home against Liberty. Yeah, you guys are on this team. Taking the touchdown. I don't want it. Give me Arkansas +240. I think that game could be pretty shootouty and very close at the end. So I think Arkansas's got a chance to win. So 240 feels like a lot. And then this one's very obvious. It's also very small. So give me Duke +104.
Bud Elliott
I like all those. Let's go ahead and give you Duke +104. I agree with you on that. And give me New Mexico plus 540. I just think I, I think that price should be in like the low 400s.
Chip Patterson
How bad can it get in Westwood?
Bud Elliott
Like there's. There's not gonna be much home field advantage for that game. It's a quick turnaround against a rather unique offense.
Chip Patterson
All right.
Danny Cannell
Danny, I'll go lock it up with Duke. It makes me a little nervous. We're all on that one. Give me Tennessee. I know this run has been impressive. Eight straight games, George has won by two touchdowns or more. It is still a young gunner. Stockton on the road at Neyland wouldn't be shocked if they pull it off outright. And then my last one. Oh, no, I got Vanderbilt. The Doors give me the Doors to win the game outright. We talked about that one. Told you I was going to go there. And then last one pains me because I've got this sweet helmet that I don't want to lose.
Chip Patterson
West Virginia, Jimmy.
Danny Cannell
West Virginia. My dad's going to ask for this helmet back. He gave this to me and he went to Pitt. Hail to Pitt, but the ACC has not been great in some of these non conference games versus Power four teams. Not completely sold on pit just yet. Tough place to play. West Virginia.
Chip Patterson
I. I sent the prices over, but sometimes y' all can get. Y' all can get better ones. Somebody got the board up here?
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
All right. I, I've. Because I was 10 cents off on Arkansas, I sent over 230. But if we can get 240, I'll obviously take that.
Bud Elliott
Old Dominion thought about this too.
Chip Patterson
Yeah. Is it 235? Is that gonna be my best price there?
Bud Elliott
What's the rotation? Yeah, 235 is best.
Chip Patterson
All right, so I'll do Old Dominion plus 235. Ricky Ronnie taking his crew into Blacksburg. How bad can it get for the Hokies? Banged up along the offensive line. And I don't, I don't need to remind Virginia Tech fans, when you play odu, those boys from Norfolk, they know you. You know, like, this is a, this is a game that they get extra charged up for. Let's go here. Where'd we say? Georgia Southern? Just got it. You know, really got. Had a tough, tough weekend against usc. Now they're flying all the way back home and they've got to play Jacksonville State. Give me Jacksonville State +155. A little spot for them right there. And Vanderbilt was it. Plus 155.
Tom Fornelli
175.
Chip Patterson
Vanderbilt plus 175. And then, geez, wouldn't it be hilarious if South Alabama didn't just cover the spread in Jordan Hare, but handed Hugh Freeze an outright loss? In the spirit of New Mexico State and the many others that have handed Auburn an unexpected loss. I've got it.
Bud Elliott
Whoa.
Chip Patterson
1400.
Bud Elliott
Yeah. Where's this at? What's rotation number on this? Oh, 1500. Chip.
Chip Patterson
Yeah. 1500. Okay, South Owl plus 1500. Let's go. All right, let's review our sprinkles for the week. Bud is on Duke plus 104, New Mexico plus 540. I've got Arkansas plus 240. ODU plus 235. Jacksonville State plus 155. Vanderbilt plus 175. South Alabama plus 1500. Danny's on Duke plus 104. Tennessee plus 150. Vandy plus 175. West Virginia plus 225. And Tom's got Bowling Green plus 195. Arkansas plus 240 and Duke plus 104. And that moneyline Sprinkles segment has been brought to you by fanduel. Make every moment more. Oh, I mean, a little kumbaya. Yeah. But we're also playing things lots of different ways. It's a as. As long as it comes back with green results and positives for everybody in the squad. That's, that's, that's what we'll be excited about. That's what we'll be excited about. Breaking down. Especially when we gather back together again Saturday night, 11:30pm Eastern time so that we can recap all of the action from week three in college football. Come and hang out and watch live. I just, I forgot the username again. But the, the commentary, we don't get to respond to all of it because it's high flying. And I love that y' all are having conversations while we're also talking about these games. But yeah, the a credit to the tailgate for the escape room question, which just created a good moment.
Danny Cannell
You know, when I was at the Tallahassee quarterback club, two dudes came up and they were like, so how long do you think it would take you to get out of the scape room? And I knew exactly what they were talking about it. They loved it.
Chip Patterson
Fantastic stuff. I truly am not, not trying to be cheesy here. We've, we've built a really fun community of like minded college football fans.
