Welcome to the Crazy Love Podcast. Are you willing to take control of your schedule long enough to meet with God? In today's episode, Francis Chan shares why waiting on the Lord may be the most urgent discipline of our time. Your soul wasn't made for non stop noise. It's time to quiet the distractions and make space for the voice that matters most.
B (0:34)
I have a question. Be honest. Actually, you can lie.
C (0:38)
I don't care how many of you
B (0:41)
plan on tomorrow morning waking up at least a half hour before you have any responsibilities, just to be alone with God, to read his Word and to pray. How many were just planning on tomorrow? Okay, six of you.
C (1:02)
Cool.
B (1:04)
I think I picked the right topic then. I want to talk about that because, look, I fell in love with Jesus when I was 15 years old and I'm 58 right now. I look good, huh? But 15 years old and my youth pastor taught me, just get alone with God every day. Open up the Bible every day. I'm still doing that at 58.
C (1:41)
So from the time I was 15, I'm sure I missed a few mornings.
B (1:46)
But I'm telling you, it's like the center of my life.
C (1:51)
It's like, to me, the most important time.
B (1:54)
It's the most amazing time.
C (1:57)
It's like my favorite time of the day.
B (2:00)
I was talking to a nun the other day. You ever talked to a nun? I'd never talked to a nun, but I met this nun and she invited me to her convent. And I thought, okay, yeah, I want to find out, like, what is your typical week?
C (2:15)
Like, what's your typical. Like, what do you do? And she's part of this order called
B (2:19)
the Sisters of Life, meaning that they'll
C (2:22)
go to, like, college campuses like this,
B (2:25)
and they'll just talk to people about. Rather than having abortions. Let me offer you some alternatives. And just trying to save the lives of some of these unborn children. And I go, okay, so what does your week look like? And she takes me into this chapel. She goes, every morning, the sisters and I sit in here in silence before God for four to five hours a day. I'm like, wow. And she goes, and once a week, we spend the entire day in silence just before Jesus. And I was like, whoa. Every day.
