A 35 year old nanny, Samantha Booth, is now facing murder charges after the alleged fatal stabbing of an 83 year old grandfather, David Ong. Police in Royal Oak say David stopped by the home on October 24th to check in on his granddaughter after the child's mother couldn't reach the nanny. When he arrived, something went horribly wrong. Investigators say Samantha suddenly attacked David, stabbing him multiple times with a screwdriver. He was found critically injured and later died from his wounds. The nanny had worked for the family for about two years with no prior reported issues. During the incident, the little girl's uncle entered the house and discovered Samantha in a manic state, covered in blood, and she allegedly also chased the uncle and child with a screwdriver as they fled. Officers say Samantha was found naked and uncooperative during her arrest and that psychedelic mushrooms were discovered in her purse. But it's still unclear whether she was under the influence at the time. The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors gather evidence, but in the meantime, she was charged with first degree murder, second degree child abuse, felonious assault and resisting a police officer. This case is an interesting one because the family clearly trusted the nanny and nothing went wrong for two years. So you have to wonder if it's related to a mental health crisis, a truly terrible mushroom trip, or if there was actually motive behind the murder. We'll keep an eye out for any new information or updates as we wait on the legal process to move forward. As always, tune in to our Socials Rimehouse 247 for any updates. In August 2025, an Idaho father named Delbert Cornish plan planned to murder his two children and then himself. He started with murdering his 18 year old child, Onyx Cornish, and then moved on to his 15 year old son named Lucien. But when Lucien realized what was happening, he fought his father off and escaped. Delbert was caught and brought into custody where he revealed to authorities a morbid plan that was a year in the making. On November 12, Delbert will return to court to enter a plea. In the wake of the tragedy, the rest of the Cornish family, along with their community, mourn the loss of Onyx, whose lively and fiery spirit they'll always remember. So how did we get here? 18 year old onyx Cornish lives in Caldwell, Idaho, near the Oregon border. For anyone, being 18 is a pivotal time. But it's an especially resonant time for Onyx, who is queer and trans. Onyx preferred they them. Pronouns. So that's what we'll use here. Onyx's community is extremely important to them. Not only that, but they've been sober for a year after struggling with drug addiction. Onyx's creative outlets are also extremely important to them and they express themselves through alternative goth inspired fashion, often altering and making their own clothes. They also love heavy metal music and reading and writing poetry. In addition to their hobbies, Onyx's family is a big part of their life. The Cornishes background is slightly complex, but here's what we know. When Onyx was younger, their biological mother, Crystal Thompson was in a relationship with a man named Delbert Cornish. Even though he's not Onyx's biological dad, he signed their birth certificate and has always been their sole father figure in their life. Delbert and Crystal had Lucien three years after Onyx was born and eight years after that Crystal had another son, Rain. It hasn't been revealed to the public who Raine's biological father is or whether Crystal and Delbert are still romantically involved at the time of the murder. But Delbert is still very much committed to the family. Rain has special needs and Crystal spends most of her time caring for him. So Onyx and Lucien live with Delbert and his brother at his brother's house. Lucien, who's now 15, is still in high school and Onyx works at a local fast food spot. Outside of work, Onyx spends time with their friends and family, especially doting on their younger brothers. On August 17, 2025, Onyx and other family members gather at Crystal's house for Rain's seventh birthday party. Crystal and Onyx stay up till midnight that night talking and being silly. But Crystal doesn't know that this is the last time she'll ever see Onyx. A couple of days later, on the morning of August 19th, Lucien heads off to school. Onyx worked the night before, so they're still in bed and have no idea what's going on outside their bedroom door. It's not even 9am And Delber is already pouring himself shots of bourbon. Then he grabs a 9 millimeter handgun and approaches Onyx's door. He stands there for a few moments before opening it and once he does, Onyx is standing there staring at him. Startled, Delbert quickly raises the gun and shoots his own child in the head. But it's not a clean shot and Onyx is still breathing. Delbert stands over them for 20 minutes, watching as they gasp for air until they finally take their final breath. I can't even imagine shooting your own child, but standing over them and watching as they slowly die. An Excruciating death instead of killing them right away is next level sick. Afterward, Delbert apologizes to Onyx and crouches down to kiss them on their cheek before wrapping them in a pride flag. Then he shoots Onyx's cat. After that, Delbert continues drinking and destroying things around the house. He punches holes in the walls and chops at Onyx's door with a hatchet. After that, he sits down on the couch, stashes his gun underneath one of the cushions and waits for Lucien to come home. It's around 3 or 4pm When Lucien walks through the door. Delbert invites him to sit down next to him and says he wants to talk. He starts asking about his day, but then Delbert starts sobbing uncontrollably. He's near shouting when he finally confesses to Lucien that he killed Onyx. He tells Lucien to go and look at what he's done, but Lucien refuses. He tells Delbert he wants to leave. That's when Delbert pulls out his gun and tells Lucien to stand up and face away from him. Lucien again refuses, so Delbert fires a warning shot into the floor. Lucien backs away slowly, still facing his father. Then he asks him why he's doing this. Delbert pauses deep in thought, and Lucien takes his chance. He lunges at his father. The two begin wrestling over the gun and Delbert gets a strong grip on it and aims it right at Lucien's chest. But Lucien is able to grab it and he bolts towards the front door. As he runs, Delbert calls after him. He says this will be the last time Lucien ever sees him and that he'll be dead. Right after he leaves, Lucien responds, quote, I know, Dad. I love you. Then he removes the magazine from the gun and tosses everything onto the floor before fleeing from the house. Once he's a few blocks away, he calls the police. Officers from the Caldwell Police Department arrive at the house a little after 4pm they announce their presence because they know Delbert is armed, but they quickly realize he's gone. He has taken his brother's car and fled. Police send out the plate number and soon automated plate readers begin returning hits on the car's location. Delbert has apparently driven to a town about an hour away called Mountain Home and has parked the car outside of his ex girlfriend's house. Caldwell police work with Mountain Home officers to coordinate an arrest, and when they get to the house, Delber is sitting in the car. They arrest him and bring him into the station at around 7pm before they even begin questioning him, Delbert confesses And then Delbert divulges something shocking.

On August 18, 2025, Delbert Cornish sits in an Idaho police station ready to explain his motive for killing his own child, 18 year old Onyx Cornish, and attempting to kill his other child, 15 year old Lucien Cornish. Delbert tells police he's extremely depressed and that he's been planning his own suicide and the murder of his children for over a year. When police ask why he wanted to kill his kids, Delbert claims they were being bullied and that he thought they'd be unhappy or uncared for after his death, which I personally believe is either total BS or a lie he convinced himself of because at the end of the day he was just selfish. If he was taking himself out, he was taking everyone with him. He said he had also planned to kill his other adult son who had recently been released from prison, but he violated his parole so that son was already back in jail. Then he asks the police if they found Onyx. When they confirm they have, Delbert begins crying and says he should have just killed himself instead. While in custody, Delbert writes an apology to Lucien, saying he's sorry, that he loves him and that he hopes he turns out to be nothing like him. Once Delbert is behind bars, the rest of the family is left shocked and reeling from everything that happened. Crystal says she never saw any warning signs that Delbert was capable of something like this and that she wishes he would have found another solution, like asking for help. Delber is currently being held without bond. He's been charged with first degree murder, assault with the intent to commit murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a crime, and animal cruelty for what he did to Onyx's beloved cat. If he's found guilty of first degree murder charges, he'll face life in prison and possibly the death penalty. Meanwhile, following the funeral, the family becomes tired of seeing the details of Onyx's death in the headlines. They want to celebrate Onyx for who they were as a person. So on September 21, 2025, they hold a public vigil at a local park and encourage everyone in their community to attend. People who didn't even know Onyx show up to pay their respects. The family lays out a table with some of Onyx's cherished belongings, including a teddy bear that they had had since they were a little kid. People bring new stuffed animals as gifts to keep the teddy bear company and jewelry items Onyx was known to wear, like choker necklaces and jelly bracelets. Friends and family share some of their favorite memories with Onyx, and the event helps to bring just a little bit of closure. Then, a few weeks after the vigil on October 14, Delbert goes back to court for a pre trial hearing. As soon as Crystal sees him, she says her blood runs cold and feels nothing but despair. By the end of the hearing, it seemed like Delbert's defense was planning for him to plead guilty. His plea hearing is scheduled for November 12, 2025, and Crystal says she plans to be there. As always, we'll be sure to keep you in the loop with any new updates. Today's second case also centers around a picture. Parents plot to manipulate and betray those closest to her. In 2024, Michelle Badar has been making headlines all over the world for an elaborate scam where she swindled her neighbors out of tens of thousands of dollars by pretending that her six year old son had cancer. Michelle is currently ironing out a plea deal and is due Back in court in the end of November. But how was she able to scam all of those people? Michelle and her husband Ben Steven Miller are Both in their mid-40s and live in the Westlakes, a coastal suburb in Adelaide, Australia with their six year old son and a daughter around the same age. From the outside they seem like your normal family. But In November of 2024, Michelle shares some bad news with her friends and family. She says she recently brought her son to the hospital for an eye injury and while they were there, Michelle doctors discovered he had cancer. Michelle posts specific details on social media saying her son has three tumors on and around the optic nerve. She receives a ton of sympathy on her posts and she uses her online platforms to ask for donations. She also reaches out for help from other parents at her kids private school and they're happy to help however they can. And the more attention she gets, the more creative Michelle becomes. She shaves her son's hair and eyebrows and posts pictures of him online. When people see what the little boy is going through, they send an outpouring of love, support and money. Before long, Michelle has received thousands of dollars. As the money is rolling in, she continues her ruse. Michelle wraps her son's head in bandages and even begins pushing him around in a wheelchair. All the while she posts about the excruciating pain he is in and how hard it is for him to understand what's happening. She also talks about how unbearable it is for her and her husband to watch their son go through this. The more Michelle lays on her emotion, the more attention her posts get. When the holidays roll around, Michelle takes her son to meet Santa at the mall. His hair is still shaved and he's wrapped in bandages while she pushes him in his wheelchair. On social media, she writes that it took her son a week to build up the courage to go, stating his fear of being stared at by other children is very overwhelming. The shopping center is so moved by their story, they don't charge Michelle for the photos with Santa. However, while she's basking in all of the love, support and money, her kids are truly suffering.

In late 2024, Michelle Bads are receives thousands of dollars in donations from other parents at her son's private school. After telling everyone the young boy has cancer, she also convinces her son that he is actually sick. On Facebook, Michelle asks others not to use the word cancer around him because it only confuses and scares him. Michelle's daughter also believes her brother is sick, and it's been weighing heavily on her. But while Michelle might be able to manipulate her children, other people she knows are becoming suspicious. Parents at the school begin to question the timeline of events and think it's odd that her son has bandages wrapped around his head before his radiation treatment is even supposed to start. This discrepancy is enough for at least one person to take drastic measures. In early December 2024, someone reports Michelle and her husband Ben to the police. Officers quickly look into the matter and discover that Michelle's son isn't actually sick. Soon after, both Michelle and Ben are arrested, they're both initially charged with one count each of deception and committing an act likely to cause harm. This could carry a sentence of up to five years in prison. At one of the first court appearances on December 13, the prosecution claims that people have been swindled out of a total of $60,000 in just two weeks. Michelle simply shakes her head when she hears this. Then, when prosecutors say she shouldn't be granted bail as she might interfere with the investigation, Michelle scoffs out loud. Afterward, Michelle and Ben petition to be released on bail and await their trial under house arrest. And when the judge reviews their requests, she has a surprising response. She believes Ben was, quote, less involved than Michelle was in the scam. He's released on bail on December 20th to serve house arrest at his parents home and is ordered to wear an ankle monitor and not to contact Michelle or his children. But since the courts believe Michelle is more involved, they end up denying her request. Michelle had petitioned to stay with her mother, but her mother is not interested. She won't even let the authorities review the home to see if it meets the requirements for home detention. With both parents in jail or banned from contact, the children are sent to live with their other family members while they try to recover from the emotional turmoil they've been through. Meanwhile, their community is left in shock from the scandal. Parents, faculty and staff at the school feel betrayed and they're ready for justice to be served. Then, in May 2025, Ben's charges are completely dropped. But authorities announced that Michelle is facing 72 total charges. Apparently she had taken 71 separate donations from people ranging from $10 to to 3,000. However, the prosecution does lower the total amount of money they say she stole, which is now $21,962. But that is the least of her worries because Michelle is also charged with criminal neglect of her son. Michelle soon starts working on a deal to plead guilty in exchange for considering and lessening the charges. On October 16, she pleads guilty to one. One count of engaging in acts that could cause harm to her son, as well as ten counts of deception. She's due back in court at the end of November for a pre sentencing hearing. So many surprising revelations have already come to light, so we'll be sure to bring you any new developments. What did you think of today's cases? Drop your thoughts and theories in the comments.
